I've had a great experience here so far. The staff are kind and friendly and genuinely care about helping you and you pets. The building is clean, positive atmosphere when you walk in and my veterinarian so far has been great with my cats.

I had my two Golden's there. All I can say is the ladies out front are the most incompetent. Have lost my electronic files, prescribed wrong dosage of flea medication based on old weights which then proved ineffective, misquoted prices, and most recently vaccined my dog twice in one year when it wasn't outdated telling me it was expired only to find old paperwork proving it was not. I'm not hard to please but the gross incompetence going on is beyond words. I took my oldest boy there as a general health check up in July. I asked the vet if shots were up to date she assured they were, so it was a big surprise when I found out from my daycare a month later that had all expired. When I went to the vet to get them I was charged another $80 examine fee to ensure he was in good health even though I had just been there an paid for a check up. Unbelievable place. I will be taking my pooches somewhere else! There are many great reviews, and a couple of the things that happened to me I was willing to look past but my final straw was when I was told my youngest would not be prescribed her usual flea/worm medication until she had a check up because they had her weighing 25lbs, when the last time I was in there with her she was nearly 60lbs. I've moved on, have had far too many arguments.

We said good bye to our boy Dozer. The beautiful people at Paradise Animal Hospital helped us do that with love and dignity. Thank you.

We were clients of this hospital for years - since their early beginnings. We recently had to make the decision to leave because they have lost their human touch and are more concerned with their profit margin than anything else. It's really unfortunate. If you need a vet go see Courtney Veitch on Topsail Road. You'll be much better served.

I bring my senior beagle to see Dr. Effendi and she is amazing! The staff are very helpful and friendly. In the past I've felt taken advantage of by animal hospitals but I've never once felt that way a the Paradise Animal Hospital. I recommend them to everyone! They go above and beyond.

Wonderful service, clean and they really care. We have 3 greyhounds and Dr. Collins and Dr. Meister are the best but the rest are amazing too! The staff are great and they know that they are your babies and do all they can for you.

Worst experience I've ever had with a vet clinic. Animal owner my whole life and this clinic is the worst by far. Money driven with poor service. Owner is a know it all and was beyond rude when speaking to me. Needless to say I paid my incredibly overpriced bill and will never again be back. My advice is seek another clinic where the staff are more professional than here and the front staff aren't on their cell phones giggling. Parking was also a nightmare which I was told before I decided to go there & it lived up to those expectations. I'm generous with a 1 Star rating.

A big THANKS to Paradise Animal Hospital and the staff. My new puppy developed a condition called: "Cherry Eye", as a new pet owner, we were scared and looked for the best, professional care possible. We took her into Paradise Animal Hospital and were greeted with a very professional, genuine, informative and caring staff. The surgery was a huge success, and the follow-up care and information for our new puppy was the icing on the cake. Overall we had a very professional and caring experience with the staff and doctors. I highly recommend this hospital, a definite diamond in the Pet Health Care business!!

Have taken my cat and dog here. Both were treated as if they were the staff's own animals. Very compassionate. Very informative. Very affordable. Very good service. My fur babies both say 5 stars

I brought my elderly cat here earlier today and I have to say that I was impressed! The staff were super friendly and made sure my cat got the care and treatment she needed. Examined her thoroughly, and answered all of the questions I had. My kitty even seemed to like all the attention too! (she's normally very saucy) Everything seemed very clean and organized, and it costed less than we expected. By far exceeding my expectations as a first time visitor here.

After getting my cat neutered there, he got extremely sick with urinary tract issues. After spending a small fortune on tests and medications we were sent home 3 times. It is now 2 months since he was first sick and 3 months since he was neutered. He passed away this morning. Not once was I ce a check-up call to see how he was doing and we were never given a diagnosis. VERY unprofessional and pricey. I DO NOT recommend the vet Melissa Power.

Where to start! Paradise Animal Hospital has been a great place to take my dogs. We started going there about a year and a half ago after moving from the east end of town to the west end and not wanting to drive for 20 minutes just to get our pup to the vet. Our dogs always have wagging tails when we go and love our vet. Our visits there with our dog (Morris) were always timely - but not rushed. We were always taken care of in the kindest of manner. So when Morris started not eating and loosing weight, we brought him in for some investigation. The vet suggested a special diet. He didn't eat the food at first, so we contacted them (the hospital) again and they instructed us to bring the food back (even with half of it gone) and we'd try another kind - we were given 100% credit of the previous bag towards the cost of the other food, which was actually cheaper. Our vet took extreme care in handling our dog's situation and agreed with our desire to pursue more tests. We did some X-rays and found what appeared to be a large lump in his abdomen which was putting pressure on his digestive system causing him pain when eating. We needed to do surgery. Our vet was so awesome that she got us in that following Monday (the day before hurricane Leslie). We were told that Morris would have to stay over night and that we could pick him up the next day - and being the determined pet owners we are - we were getting him regardless of the weather. We were worried that the weather may have been freaking our dog out and couldn't get our minds off of him at the vet during the storm - we thought he might be alone and scared - we couldn't have been more wrong. When we arrived there that day during the storm - we found our vet and a few other staff there taking care of the animals there - even though there was a hurricane raging outside. Unfortunately for us and Morris - it was cancer, and a very aggressive kind. We brought him home and began the road to recovery - but it wasn't as smooth sailing as we would have liked. Each day for a week we had Morris in to see the vet as he was clearly not recovering from his surgery as well as expected. The folks over at the Paradise Animal Hospital became so customed to seeing us that we knew some of the staff by name - and they ALL knew our dog. Unfortunately our Morris didn't make it - but even in the end the staff were helpful, caring and understanding of our situation. All I want to say is that each time we went we were treated amazingly.... friendly staff, great prices (lower than our last vet for sure), and a vet that really cared. What more could you ask for in a vet? We are still customers of the hospital and intend to continue bringing our dogs there for a long time. As for whether or not you and your pet should go there - I recommend not taking my word, or anyone else's - go there and see for yourself how friendly and helpful they are.

As much as we dislike going to the vet, I'm glad it's Paradise Animal Hospital when we do. Our experiences are always positive from a service perspective and even the one time where there was an issue, ownership was awesome in finding a resolution. I trust this hospital. Update - Things have changed at this clinic. When you can actually see a vet, the quality is still there. However, you need to first navigate through the poor and at times apathetic communication of front line staff, or be forgotten about after sitting an hour in a waiting room. It's a shame. The faces interacting with the public are disinterested. A real shake-up is needed here.

We recently had to say good bye to our beloved cat, Byron. He meant the world to us. The staff at Paradise Animal Hospital and Dr. Deirdre Johnson went above and beyond to help us with our grief. They are exceptional. God bless you all from the bottom of our hearts. Alison and Ed

Feb. 26th. we came to the realization that our Yorkie , Daisy was very ill. I called & got an appointment for the same day, only to get the devastating news that Daisy was sicker then we had imagined. From the phone call to make the appointment till we left late that evening we were treated with the highest respect & dignity. This was a very hard choice to make, but with the help of staff and the vet. we did what was best for our fur baby. I would highly recommend this clinic, thanks for being so compassionate, our Miss Daisy, was so loved it was like loosing part of the family.

Excellent service and compassion from all staff. They made us clear and comfortable about what was going on with our Buddy and how to help his symptoms. Thank you Dr. Kearney and the Paradise Animal Hospital!

This is a great Vet Clinic. In particular, Dr. Tracy Collins has taken excellent care of all my Pets (2 Dogs & 3 Cats). My last experience was with my Cat (Fitz) who had to be hospitalized for quite a long time. He was on the brink of death and now he's up and running around. The staff have been great and I have nothing but good things to say about this hospital. All the best and keep up the good work.

The workers are good at what they do. My pup loves going there for all the attention that he gets. But whatever you do, do not ever get your dogs nails clipped there. Was singlehandedly the most stress me and my pup experienced. I'll just leave it at that. I'd give 3.5 stars if I could. Do yourselves a favor, and go to a professional groomer

I have two cats and had been advised by many of my colleagues to give this place a shot. I live much closer to other vet clinics in town, but the extra drive across the city is more than worth it for the extra service and friendliness of the staff. Prices are competitive and everyone is beyond professional. Thanks PAH for the service, I will continue to return as a client !

Thom Gillis

Great service, competitive prices and greyhound specialists. Dr. Meister is incredible and the staff are very polite, professional and caring. We live on the east end and drive to Paradise for their expert care.

Alex Roberts

they must be under staffed every single time i call the phone is answered with a rude "can you hold" 5 min later they come to the phone every time !!!!! its a vet clinic not a call center!

Don't bother unless you have a cat or a dog. They are NOT an ANIMAL hospital. They are a Monday to Friday hospital for popular cash-cow pets. Don't bring a bird there. "We don't do exotics" they say. Should change name to Paradise Dog/Cat Wellness Center. They're there for your money, not your animal.

I have been dealing with this vet hospital for over 10yrs now. They always show compassion to all the animals and their owners. I have two dogs and two cats and they all do this vet hospital. Vet Bill's can be costly at times, that's the unfortunate thing. Though if we ourselves never had MCP aand drug cards to cover our cost, we would be faced with the same charges or maybe even more. My cat was attacked by either a big dog or a coyote and without them my cat would not be here today. I couldn't ask for any better service. I was updated on everything. I would definitely recommend these people to anyone.

In august I took my cat here because he had some loose teeth. I was told he would need 3-4 teeth extracted. We set up an appointment for blood work and a separate appointment for the surgery. 2 days before the blood work appointment they called me to tell me I could come in the next day for the blood work and surgery. When I brought him in the vet assistant decided to diagnose my cat with stomatitis, which she said meant he was allergic to his teeth. The fact that an assistant diagnosed my cat is appalling, especially after doctor Johnson had diagnosed him with gingivitis. Not to mention that the assistant got the definition of stomatitis wrong. Without planning to tell me, they tried to remove all of his teeth instead of 3-4 until I called and started asking questions. The assistant and I decided to just run the original tests (blood work abs x-rays) and decide if I wanted to go through with the surgery another day given that my $1300 surgery was now up to $2800. Upon arriving to pick him up, I was given my cat covered in pee and a bill for $900 even though I told them I wanted to speak to someone about pricing given the fact that they straight up lied about his condition. It took around 3 weeks of calling back and forth to Ashley C, who may be one of the most rude people I’ve ever had to deal with. She kept telling me that I just didn’t understand. I’m a biologist, I understand how allergies, genetics, and infections work. Even after explaining this she still spoke to me like I was a child and told me that I wasn’t understanding. Finally after at least 5 hours of phone calls she told me I wasn’t even speaking to the right person and passed me on to some other lady. In the end they charged me $650. This covered blood work, x-rays, an OR setup (that I didn’t use because he didn’t get surgery) an OR team (that he didn’t use) and intubation. I have never been messed around so much in my life. Even at the end of this experience they were trying to set me up with a surgery there so I could spend $2800 because it really is all about the money for these people. When I took my cat home he was absolutely terrified. I’ve never seen him so scared in his life. He eventually got the surgery at sunrise. They were so sweet to him and cheaper. Plus he didn’t come home scared for his life or covered in piss. Save your money, don’t go to this con artist, incapable excuse for a clinic. I wouldn’t bring a pet rock here

I’m disappointed to say that my experience at Paradise Animal Hospital (PAH) was extremely unprofessional. About a week after I brought my puppy to PAH for her first needle, she started vomiting. The bill for her treatment came to about $3700, and I was told that it may have been a stomach bug or possibly worms. Receiving an unexpected bill that size was daunting to say the least. When I asked for an itemized list of what was required I found flaws in the billing. For example, I was charged $200 in medication instead of the $19 that was actually needed. After speaking with my friends who also take their dogs to PAH about my bill, they asked if the clinic offered me the free month of pet insurance that they offer every customer of their clinic. They had not. When I called to ask why I wasn’t offered pet insurance, I was told that it was a very unfortunate situation, and that Covid had made it hard to offer all customers the same standard of care. They told me the best they could do for me was to offer an apology. Pet insurance would have covered a substantial portion of my fees, and I found it hard to accept that Covid was interfering since they had time to shoot and post TikTok/Instagram videos of my dog (which they’ve since removed from their pages), but not offer the standard care that all other customers receive. After several emails back and forth, PAH offered to refund $1000 of my $3700 bill. After this, I stuck with PAH because I felt that my puppy received quality care from the vets who delivered her treatment during her emergency visit despite the poor communication and huge expenses. Changing clinics would be challenging given the backlog of patients caused by the pandemic at that time. However, I ran into more issues when I booked my puppy’s appointment for a spay. When I first called, she was scheduled right away for her surgery. It was only after speaking to my friends who have puppies from the same litter and also go to PAH, that I learned they were all given appointments for blood work prior to their surgery and given information on fasting. After hearing this I called the clinic to ask about a bloodwork appointment and they insisted she didn’t need an appointment. This didn’t make sense to me given that the other puppies in her litter had also seen the vet a couple months earlier. I called back again. After three calls they realized they had indeed made a mistake and that my puppy did in fact need blood work prior to her operation. Had I not repeatedly inquired, I’m not sure if they would have gone ahead with the surgery or not. I have never written a review for a business before let alone a negative one, however after this experience I felt it was important to share what I went through. The fact that bolstering their social media presence was more of a priority than my dog's health is beyond concerning. To have it shrugged off, excused, and given a half hearted apology was insulting. A customer should not have to rely on friends and internet research to learn what the proper medical procedures are for their pet.

After being dismissed about our dog having an infection they sent us home with canned food. A week later there was obviously no improvements so I did what they asked and got another urine test and I also emailed pictures of the discharge so they could clearly see it. Again I was dismissed. Four days later I went back a 3rd time. Finally they swabbed the actual infection and realized there was an in fact an serious infection. Why this wasn't done on the 1st day I'm not sure, it seemed obvious this was the issue and I was more than clear about it. They prescribed 2 types of meds. A few days into the meds we realizes they prescribed the meds according a to 40lbs dog(his previous weight 2 months earlier) versus 60lbs that he is now. He should of been weighted each time I paid the exam fees which was twice in a matter of 16 days. I called numerous times today to have the medication amounts corrected and got no return calls from the vet so I had to drive to the vet in order to get answers prior to the week end. They didn't aknowledge making the mistake and refused to correct his meds. If they didn't make a mistake my dog gained 20lbs in 5 days. After spending close to $1000 I still have to take him to another vet now to be treated. This doesn't even cover the other things that went on just for this one problem, the list goes on. Never again will I go there.

I had to have my cat Wisper put down she was 16 years old. It was a very sad day. Dr. Gina Kelly was amazing, very comforting, very nice & Professional. She made the experience as good as it could be considering the circumstances. The rest of the staff was great as well.

Renee Puddicombe

Staff are wonderful and very knowledgeable! Always feel at ease bringing my dogs here.

Brought my dog in for an ear infection. $550. Outrageous prices for medications. Very unhappy. Will not return.

Phenomenal staff, very professional and respectful. Sadly we had to have our 14 year old Golden Retriver put to rest and they were so helpful, caring and made the experience as pleasant as it could possibly be given the situation. We now take our Greay Dane here for check ups and needles and still have the best experience.

We have been using Paradise Animal clinic for the pasted 6 year. Our Doodle now has a issue with her eyes and We have being waiting approx 2 weeks to get a referral to an Eye Special . We have made several calls speaking with most of the staff , when speaking with Jess on thurday and being assured that the referral would be sent that afternoon STILL NOT DONE. I recalled the office today Monday asking to speak with a manager but everyone was gone to lunch and they would call us back at 12:15 pm waiting to see. THIS IS NOT THE SERVICE I EXPECT OR WANT FOR MY DOG IS MY BABY. I FINE THIS SERVICE TO BE VERY POOR!

I had the misfortunate of visiting this clinic last week when we were visiting St. John's. My dog awoke with a swollen face so I called for an appointment at 9am. I was told there were no appointments available but that they accepted walk-ins so we got ready and headed in. Upon arriving at 10:21 am I was told that the walk in clinic was only between 8-10am and that I would be charged an additional $89 emergency fee, even though the clinic was empty. I had never heard of an emergency fee during working hours before and my understanding is that the Vet we saw was only seeing walk ins that day... Regardless I agreed to the fee as I wanted my dog treated, but then the Vet mis-diagnosed my dog's condition as well. When we returned to the west coast I took her to my normal Vet as her condition had not improved. They had to lance an abyss and remove the infected skin as the infection had worsened. My visit to the Paradise clinic cost me $285 with medication (which was useless). My visit to my regular Vet, including treatment and medication...$130. I will never return to the Paradise clinic and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone...it's a HUGE rip off!!

I've had nothing but excellent experiences with Paradise Animal Hospital. I changed veterinarian clinics over a year ago due to the difficulty of getting an appointment with my dog's own veterinarian at the time. I'm very pleased with my decision to change clinics! My dog sees Dr. Tracy Collins and Paradise Animal Hospital and she is amazing with him! She makes every visit very informative and painless! She takes the time to answer any questions or concerns I have about my dog - even the ones that might seem kind of silly to ask. Her examinations are always very thorough, which means a lot as my dog's health is of such a high importance to me. I couldn't be more pleased with my switch to this clinic!

Our loving female cat Iddie was drinking a lot and peeing a lot.We decided to take her to an animal hospital as we were very concerned for her health. PAH staff was informative and caring and did tests which determined she was diabetic. She was given a prescription for insulin now our kitty is back to normal running around and playing .Their prices are competitive and their expertise is second to none.Highly recommended for pet care.Thankyou for your professionalism and quick diagnosis PAH,and Iddie says thanks too:)

I want to say how awesome the staff is I have had experiences there with new pets and old one who were in the last moments truly professional and caring. I would highly recommend them

Carol McGrath

Without a doubt, the most caring people you could ever hope to find. Before I moved back to NL I contacted and asked if Dr. Meister would accept my "Sam" as a patient. I knew her from NB. Was impressed with her then and even more so now. Sam loved everyone of the girls, but then..he was one of a kind. Thanks to all of you. You kindness will never be forgotten. Carol

Sean Jonathon

They really care about the animals, even having seperate doors for dogs and cats so they dont get stressed out passing each other when coming and going. Awesome place.

Jillian

All of my pets have been patients here for the last four to five years. They have saved my cats life, and increase the quality of life for my epileptic dog. Options are always clearly explained in terms of cost, benefit/risk, and quality of life. There is no hesitation to not recommend the more expensive option for anything. Four paws up from my four pets :)

Penney Farthing

This is a reply to BlueNoser. Your review is not very helpful. You don’t mention what kind of animal you have or what type of treatment you were seeking, The fact that you don’t use your real name leads me to believe this is a personal attack made by someone who hides behind a keyboard to make themselves feel important. I visit this clinic frequently and find the care and service excellent and the prices in line with current standards. As for the parking a person with common sense would know that parking spaces are governed by local municipalities
