You will be able to see all the opinions of real people who buy the products of James Bay Medical Treatment Centre (Hospital) around Esquimalt area (Canada).
Right now this business receives a score of 2.9 out of 5 and this rating is based on 86 reviews.
You must have seen that it has an average rating is discreet, neither too high nor too low, and it is based on a very large number of feddbacks, so we can say that the evaluation is very credible. If there are many people who bothered to leave their score when they are pleased with the business, it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to place tatings when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Hospital corresponds to the category of Medical Center.
I have had the best treatment in this clinic. Dr. Greenwood has cared for my shoulder when I was in debilitating pain. The results were excellent.
It was a very strange experience for me. Like I had to really work for it to make the doctor explain anything to me. And he has some attitude too...lol
Dr. Greenwood is very forthcoming, and informative. Doing his best. The employees working the front, also, doing their best. I would only go here. The other places around the city are sales people at best. Too bad this clinic isn't taking new patients, I know a lot that would like to choose JB Medical Treatment Centre for any health requirements.
Waiting room could do without the flickering fluorescent lights for sure, but I was pleasantly surprised by how attentive, progressive, and knowledgable Dr. Lindsay was! Counter staff are also very pleasant
Dr. Waterman...is one of the nicest doctors there. He will listen to ur concerns and treats accordingly. He is a VERY good doctor. The older doctors won't treat or listen as well as Dr Waterman. One of the best doctors around.
I recently, mistakenly, made an appointment here and I'm not giving it a 5 because I DIDNT SEE THE DR but if the receptionist helps to inform your experience, at large, this place is awesome! She was wonderful during both of my phone conversations.
Dr Greenwood works fast but he does answer the question you ask quickly. I always do leave with a solution and he is actually very compassionate and kind when you have a sincere issue he does listen and in my experience it is far better than downtown clinics.
I was in the clinic in the morning and they told me to come back at 3 pm and there was only one lady in waiting room at that time! When i went back to the clinic the whole procedure took 1 minute! Dr. Greenwood referred me to the next door to get a professional insole and x-ray! Personally I don’t think a pain that goes away with insole needs an x-ray! Then i told Dr. i have another question, he told me you are assigned only for one thing today! I was surprised because i was told that i can ask any questions from the doctor as long as its my turn!
Doctor seemed to not want to be there both times I've visited. Staff is otherwise friendly but won't be going back.
Dr. Waterman is an excellent doctor, very modern opinions and it feels like he is genuinely invested in your wellbeing even though you’re only there for like 10 minutes. The building itself is a little ‘tired’ though. The lighting is especially sketchy.
Decently competent doctor, means well, can't handle a veteran, needs more training about the broken system he's propping up and how all is often not ever fixed by carting someone off to the ER. Maybe one day he'll learn about how corrupt VAC is then he might not remember me as paranoid.
Have seen Dr Greenwood twice for 2 unrelated issues and both times he acted dismissive and uncaring and left me feeling discouraged in a way no other health worker ever has. He offered no concern for my issue and failed to properly explain my options in a way I could understand. A bridge would have been more helpful - don’t waste your time. Receptionist was warm and friendly and wait time was short.
Thank you to the doctor and staff that helped me out when I was really sick. They were very nice and the doctor that I had was great as well. Had to wait a little bit to get him but why a great doctor I had. Had a very good experience there. I’m not from Victoria I’m form out of town. When I come back and I need help I now know where to go. Thank you.
The doctor felt very uninformed, didn’t provide any information as to what the injury might be and sent me on my way. Useless clinic.
I've been going to this place since the 90s and because of covid they recently switched over to doing phone visits. the issue with that is they haven't updated their phone systems so people wait days to get their prescription because they can't get a hold of them on the phone. please update your phone lines so you can help everyone not just people who have time to call multiple times an hour. I've been trying to get a hold of you for an hour straight.
Drs. Waterman and Levin were great — enthusiastic, engaged, eiger to explain and discuss thoroughly. Dr. Greenwood is kind of the opposite — somewhat curt, seems a bit cynical, jaded. Though don't take it personally; he's actually a pretty nice guy. Just be aware: he's generally anti psych meds. Don't expect an unbiased opinion from him on those. Wait times are usually around an hour, hour and a half, even as other clinics have stopped intake for the day. It's surprisingly easy to get in, actually, compared to other clinics.
Over the past few years, I have visited this clinic about 5 times. The receptionist and the doctors have been welcoming and attentive to my concerns. The treatment and recommendations solved whatever concerns I had. I have great confidence in this clinic.
Friendly receptionist, very small so get there early. Drs vary but have had no problems . I like these people
I live in the community and have always received kind care. People need to understand that our medical system is over worked and people have good and bad days. The doctor everyone is complaining about has always treated me kind. Sure, he's had bad days, as do we all. If I notice he's in a bad mood I just thank him for his hard work- it's probably because he's done this for years and the client before me may have been rude. If anything, I thank him for the dedication to our community for the years he has been working in James Bay. Everyone gets tired out and we don't know what's really going on in someone's life. Thanks for all the help you've provided me!!
Went here when I was thirteen wanting to talk about mental health. The doctor immediately accused me of asking for pills and then told my mother that I had walked in and asked to buy anxiety medication. Four years later I still suffer from anxiety and never have gotten any help for it because of this experience. Skip this clinic, the doctor treats people horribly.
It saddens me to read so many negative reviews on this place. I have had to come here tens of times and thus have seen all the doctors, everyone is friendly and helpful and has always ensured the best for my health. Yes they each have their own personality sure, but to judge them and say they don't care is just simply untrue. I've never once left this clinic without the care needed and every single follow up promised was followed up on, if I could rate the place 6 out of 5 I would. Don't try and read between the lines, the doctors here know what they are doing (they're the professionals, isn't that why we go?) and they want the best for you. Reception are always friendly and helpful. I appreciate the service a lot. Thank you to everyone at James Bay medical for what you do.
Unable to get a answer, a referral or a treatment. A truly confused medical clinic months and months later the referrals mentioned never materialized, and the specialist never got the request. As this happened several times I have to believe this is not an isolated case
For everyone's information - they are not taking walk ins, at all. Unlike what the page on their front door says, or what their post from August says.
I've lived here for 8 years and been to the clinic 5 or 6 times. Either I saw Dr. Greenwood or Dr. Nolan. Both guys are GPs (general practitioners) who have decades of experience, who will treat you with no-nonsense common sense. The nursing staff are unfailingly polite, patient and kind.
When I described my difficulty swallowing the doctor said "what do you want me to do about it?" then tried to convince me it was too long of a wait to see anybody that can help.
Showed up early, 4th in line before the clinic opened. Got in at 9am and we are all waiting and the doctor shows up at 9:25 nice service.
Clinic I use because it's right beside where I live. I have had so many countless problems when it comes to either getting ahold of them, getting my medication refilled, or trying to reach a doctor. They need more front staff for answering calls. Half the time I call them and the phone doesn't go through at all.
Like everyone else says, the staff is fine, but the doctor is very short and dismissive. I like efficiency, but he is needlessly rude. Everyday is a bad day for him.
While I'm well aware of the GP shortage in this city, my experience with this clinic (which I used because of it's proximity to my apartment) and Dr. Greenwood in particular was appalling. I developed a persistent cough in May of 2015 which would last for almost a minute or so each time, and most of them would push me to the brink of unconsciousness. I was curious so I did a little informal research and reckoned I might have whooping cough. My theory seemed to hold, as there had been a whooping cough outbreak that last September. I went to see Dr. Greenwood, and literally the first thing he said to me when he came in was, "What do you think it is?" I was taken aback by that, and held my tongue, even though I wanted to say "Well, based on my zero years of medical training, I thought I'd come see you first." Instead I suggested that maybe it could be whooping cough and he laughed as if I was an idiot, and said, "There hasn't been a reported case of whooping cough in years." I guess that story about the whooping cough outbreak from the previous September was just a misprint then? He then prescribed me something like $200 worth of anti-biotics, prescription-grade cough syrup and a chest x-ray. The x-ray came back negative. Imagine. Oh, and I was off work for a month straight with my very heavy "clearly-not-whooping-cough-because-no-case-has-been-reported-in-years" whooping cough. Greenwood's attitude overall was appalling, and in my opinion he should retire. With James Bay's large senior citizen population, a misdiagnosis with one of them (like his misdiagnosis with me) could have serious, possibly fatal repercussions.
(Translated) It's a good establishment, the doctor has an expert (Original) C'est un bon établissement, le docteur a un expert
Doctor greenwood need's to retire.... He barely looks at you and takes forever to get a referal. We need doctora that actually care.
I have had the same experience at this clinic as I have with almost every doctor I have been served by. They are obviously burned out by having to serve our needs and the demands of our government simultaneously. The ratio of patients to doctors is impossible. Doctors need to be treated better, (more like human beings) than they are - then maybe our experiences with them will get better.
If this clinic was run only by Dr. Waterman I would have rated it 10/5 stars because he is INCREDIBLE. Truly cares, listens, and offers ideas and support for his patients. HOWEVER, dr. Nolan is quite the opposite. He has no care or concern for patients and is extremely condescending and unprofessional. He consistently makes patients feel as if they are wasting his time. This is from personal experience and experiences of friends/family of mine. However, everyone I know to have seen dr. Waterman has been pleasantly surprised by his care and professionalism. Dr. Waterman is a quality doctor, but avoid Dr. Nolan at all costs!! He should have retired long ago.
The doctor has the worst bedside manor and is positively horrible to go to. I live beside this clinic and have gone in 4 times, I'll now drive Out of my way to avoid this man.
As my wife, 67 years old stambled in the walk way today Sep, 9th. She firmly hit her nose, her face and knees, we aproached this clinic. The Doctor briefly visualy checked her without any interrogation about other side effects or signs or sympthoms such as visibility, headhacke, and many other expected questions related to full face impact. Since she had a bad wounded nose he applied a bandage with out using gloves, directly touching the sterile zone and even haven't desinfected it before, very weak first aid practice!!!
Short wait, efficient, quick referral to specialist
the staff was more than helpful, but when i was to see the doctor he seemed to have a off day, i've seen him before and he always seems like he's having a bad day. i hit my head and needed stitches, and came here because it was the closest, needless to say i wouldnt come here ever again the way i was treated, there are TONS of walk ins in victoria i suggest skip this one and go to the next, this doctor doesnt deserve to trreat people this way
An excellent clinic which is unfortunately overrun by older folks in the neighborhood who need more care than the city's clinics can provide on their own. The clinic itself does incredibly well given how high the demand on it is. The city is starving for GPs. I always have recieved a good level of care despite the wait. The receptionists are great at informing me of how long the wait will be and when I should come back.
I found Dr. Greenwood to be arrogant, dismissive, and callous. He gave me a completely inaccurate diagnosis over the phone that I had a life threatening illness, then laughed and hung up when I asked what I should do. Read that again. He laughed about it and hung up. Shocked, afraid for my life, and disgusted at his behaviour, I went somewhere else and told them what happened. They did some tests, found nothing, then sent me to a specialist. The specialists also found nothing wrong with me and sure as hell didn't laugh at me for asking for help. This was a few years ago, and I feel sick to my stomach sometimes when I think about Dr. Greenwood.
Had a very short wait, staff and doctor were quite nice
Talked to the doctor, came in, got it sorted. I like these guys.
Dr Waterman is amazing. He has a huge heart and is the most caring doctor I have ever met. Great human being and doctor. Lucky to have him
Use as an absolute LAST RESORT. Receptionist was extremely rude. The doctor I saw was just trying to get me in and out and brushed off questions I had about my prescription and wouldn't give me any refills for my epilepsy medication. Unprofessional to say the least and with my condition dangerous. A true testament to the lack of doctors in Victoria.
Thank you Dr. Walovitz(sp) for listening to my concerns and giving me the cortisone shot that relieved 80% of the pain in my knee.
I would not recommend this place not even to someone i didnt like. I have had a few horrible experiences with doctors . that have left me very skeptical trusting them. And now put off medical treatment as a result of it. Dr. Greenwood has Emensly increased this fear and distrust towards doctors . its very disheartening the lack of compassion this man exudes. All while sporting a condescending grin on his face . literally puts me in tears at the thought that these people are who we have to rely on. I rated 1 star since there isn't a symbol for complete failure
I almost chocked to death early this morning and its been a consistent thing that been getting worse. The Doctor I saw was more interested in profiling my personality and then told me it was all in my head. absolutely disgusting! He made me feel like I was wasting time and he wouldn't help me get a priority referral! and putting all that aside the other staff where useless and unprofessional. This is disgraceful!
Doctor is more concerned with pushing medicine than getting to root of problem. Might as well go to the hospital and wait 10 hours. Literally asked me what my favorite medicine was when prescribing antibiotics. YOU'RE THE DOCTOR, YOU DECIDE WHAT IS BEST FOR ME
Unfortunately over the years me, my sister and my 8yr old have been pushed through quickly and advised to use tylenol/ice/tums only to need hospital or tests on two occasions after second opinions. Perhaps they're the busiest in Victoria and have too many patients.
I have gone to this clinic many times in the past years, and have never had a very good or helpful experience. the doctor cuts me short and doesn't answer my questions....ever. nore does he take any of my concerns into consideration. wait times might be short but its because its not actually helpful!
Here's the deal: 1. Dr Waterman - AWESOME dude. Friendly, sense of humor, listens to your concerns, thorough. Highly recommended. 2. Dr Levine - AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Rude and cruel, rushes you out the door [even on the slowest of days!], dismisses your issues and won't help you. You are wasting your time, and ruining your day by seeing this guy. Always call ahead to make sure he isn't on shift!!!!!! Update: the mole he told me was "perfectly normal" is getting removed soon. If you suspect skin cancer, don't gamble with your life by seeing this guy 3.The old Dr [unsure of name] - I've seen him on more than one occasion and have had positive experiences each time. He's a nice chap and on a bad day is NOWHERE near as awful as Levine. Also recommended. Front desk staff are lovely, and there's a cafe underneath the clinic where you can grab some brunch while on the wait list. However, if you get there early enough it tends to be one of the shortest waits in Vic.
Very good, i love it
I had the opportunity of meeting Dr. Greenwood today. I would like to thank him and the adm clerk for all their kindness , patience and empathy. Your professionalism was so welcoming. Thank you Cheryl M
I highly recommend this walk-in. I have visited it several times over the past two years and I have always found the main doctor there, Dr Michael Greenwood, to be most helpful. He's an old-fashioned, but skilled doctor, and has always quickly gotten to the root of my issues. He has a friendly manner and makes you feel he is genuinely concerned. He's not the most conversational doc I've ever met, but the plus side is that--unless you unwisely show up at a peak time of day--you don't usually have to wait long to be seen. And if there is a lengthy wait time, they will advise you how long it will be, and you're free to go away and return.
A very enjoyable experience. Dr. Greenwood was friendly, efficient and good-humoured. Reception was likewise friendly and efficient. Wait time approximately 15 minutes.
Our entire family uses this clinic -- on time, efficient, attentive doctors. I can't say enough good things.
The main doctor doesn't believe in vaccinations and told me not to bother getting the 'flu shot because it was useless - this from a clinic that deals with many senior citizens! If you get any other doctor, you'll be fine.
Bad service
The doctor (Dr. Michael Greenwood) asked me why I was allergic to peanuts, (like I have a say in that?) didn’t swab my throat but prescribed me penicillin. Very unprofessional, borderline abusive. Awful experience. Do not bother coming here.
I've visited this clinic numerous times. Most of the time the doctor is very friendly, interested in listening, and helpful. However, there have been a couple of times when he was dismissive and rude. Perhaps he has an occasional bad day. Overall, I think he is a very good doctor and I would recommend visiting this clinic.
I've had many experiences with this doctor and I can tell you that even if you are the most attractive, kindest and empathetic person that ever lived he would still would be a miserable individual to you. What's funny about this places that if you look at the waiting room there are signs posted all over with regards to a zero tolerance for rude behavior but in turn the doctor is exactly that. I think the signs are there to counteract people's reactions to his appalling behavior towards patients. The funny thing about it is is that people seem to think there is no legal recourse to deal with such parasites practicing medicine still. I come from a family of doctors and I had many experiences talking to doctors of all types. So I don't get overly excited when a doctor exercises some kind of authority. My background is legal and I will tell this doctor upfront here that I will continue to visit his office and will continue to record every session I have with him - I employ other people to do the same thing - until I feel there is more than enough evidence of a pattern of abuse, neglect and other serious actionable behaviors and then take appropriate legal action against this doctor so he can stop practicing medicine - which is what he should have done many years ago - and go to jail and spend the rest of his days.
Dr. Greenwood's a joke. I came in to have a simple return to work form filled. He checked 2 boxes, wrote 10 words, circled 2 words, gave me the next page to check off myself, then charged $50.00 for that. Wtf
Normally for me walk in docs are a complete challenge with which to communicate, and so I shall perhaps be the odd person for whom Dr. Greenwood has been a relief and a boon. His manner may vary though remains attentive and responsive and actually listens to my concerns. Have also noticed the difference with an experienced practician and how that has served me greatly.
Got there, waited 30 minutes only for the front desk staff to say the doctor wasn't coming in and there was a schedule mix up. Complete and total waste of my time. Never going back. Unprofessional.
Hoesntly i continue to have a great experience to this day from my Doctor here. I understand everyone has differant experiences. Theres multiple Doctors here. Dr. Waterman is a phenomenal Doctor. 100% here for me since my work injury. I continue to count on Dr. waterman for my life issues, metal healthy as well chronic pain as well PTSD etc.
rude, hurtful, harmful, dismissive attitude -- no diagnosis, no treatment, no explanation.
Waited 2 hours for the Dr to see me for 40 seconds. Literally didn't even look at my symptoms. Got my name wrong on the prescription. Prescribed over the counter medication that I told him I'd already been using for a month without change. Was rude and abrupt. What a complete waste of time.
No frills, straightforward, and brusk. No time wasted and gets to the point. My kind of place.
Visited James Bay Medical Clinic this morning and had a really positive experience. I’ve been to to this clinic twice and both times I did not have to wait very long. Friendly MOA and Dr. Waterman seems to genuinely care about people who come through the door. He listened to my concerns very thoroughly and offered me some options that he was happy to discuss with me before I left. Will definitely go back if I need to.
I used this place as a last resort. Needed a script refill for HBP med. The doctor wrote the script for 9 days instead of 90. I didn't notice until I was home from the pharmacy and the clinic was closed. A week later and I'm still trying to get the prescription fixed.
