Only reason this is getting any stars is for the receptionists and nurses, but the doctors are a no go. My boyfriend and I went into the ER because I was in so much pain in my down stairs region, couldn't sit, stand or walk without pain. Went to ER because he is not from this part of Canada and I just recently moved so didn't have a family doctor. Went in, waited, which was fine. The nurse called us over (extremely sweet lady, so sweet and kind) made us feel completely at ease. We then waited for the doctor for him to come in, no bedside manner whatsoever, looked at my area, looked at my boyfriends and said "You have herpes", didn't take any swabs or tests to see if it actually was herpes. Made us take blood tests and urine tests to test for anything and everything. Because of his blunt manner and for abruptly taking away my boyfriend to go sign paper work, I was left with my own thoughts and panicking. Went back to us and repeated himself 2 or 3 times "These are the numbers to call when we find anything" we said yes. 2 - 3 weeks later we here nothing from the hospital. At this point I'm annoyed so I called them myself to get anything, the receptionist this time was giving me attitude saying I should see a family doctor for these kinds of things, then tells me everything came back negative. At this point I'm furious. I go to a clinic near me to find a doctor, got more lab work done to be safe and double check and yes I am completely clear of anything and all negative. My boyfriend had to spend money on medication for something he didnt have, we are now both dumbfounded on exactly what we even had because no doctor decided to check and just used his eyes for the diagnosis. Their name is Dr Warran, fairly well known in the ER for being a good doctor. If this is how he treats patients, he needs to go back to med school to be retaught how to properly diagnose people. As a doctor you do not diagnose people with just looking! Especially for more extreme serious cases!

This emergency room is the most racist in the city, its horrific to seeing how people are treated by staff and security in the waiting room . Pretty sure coming here made me more sick cause y'all didn't take my symptoms seriously and its a lil unsanitary. I recommend Grey nuns, they treat you with more dignity and compassion. Stay away from this one if you can.

This emergency hospital is looks like full of very bored nurses who just fade up of their job especially the night shifts. I wait for more than 4 hours in the so called emergency room while some of nurses plays game/card on their computer. The Good news is their is no place you give your feedback about this groups. Any way God Bless Canada.

08/20/2020 @ 8:55am wanted to leave after over 4 hours wait, so I stood up to go speak to a nurse about my decision to leave so they won’t be looking for me at any point. Worst decision ever, when a very rude and remorseless nurse said to me that “I won’t be attending to you, just go and have a sit and wait till you are called”. I couldn’t get her name cos she didn’t have a name tag on. I have never felt such pain in life till this moment. She was just heartless. I won’t be going to the Royal Alex Emergency anymore. I believe there are many lovely healthcare professionals out there but today was just a different experience.

Went in for a serious injury to my eye.. got there at 8:30pm, left at 4am with out any help what so ever. They make u wait in the waiting room, then they make you wait in a nasty bed.. then they just forget about you. I just walked out so frustrated. My eyes were very sensitive to light and extremely painful. And they just kept flashing lights in my eyes instead of having a doctor look at me. Just terrible and smelly. Very unorganized and will never return this this emergency even if my life depended on it, cause I would probably die in that waiting room. Some of the nurses are lazy, I asked for numbing eye drops to the first nurse I saw and she just said no we can’t give u anything.. Went back to chit chatting and laughing with other nurses... then I asked a different nurse couple hours later and she hurried up and tried to ease my pain with numbing eye drops. She’s the only reason why I’m giving 1 star. It’s just so messed up in there.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Horrible waiting room conditions, unpleasant nurses, and DAY long waiting times. Have been in there multiple times this year to be told by one doctor that its an emergency and I need surgery, to be told the very next day by another that I'm perfectly okay and should just sleep it off. Everyone I know avoids the big 2 hospitals emergency rooms in Edmonton because of the utter time wasters they really are.

Went in @ 8 am to an empty e.r. with a full staff an suffering from sever dehydration from food poison. Asked 2 different nurses for Water an told to wait for Dr. Found the 2nd nurse chatting with co worker when i asked again an even though Dehydrated did not see Dr till 1130 am . Made to suffer when only water needed and i drank 2 liters from the hand washing sink in room because of the horrible cramping i was having . By the time i seen tge Dr i was fine an realeased ... No wonder our healthcare system is inefficient if a nurse can no only not diagnose dehydration let alone refuse a patient water is the reason to go to another emergency where they might care an do their job instead of socializing... Pitiful an poor attitudes .. i have 4 nurses in my family an all appalled by this behavior!!!!..

Nurses and security staff are very rude Came in at 10:30am for emergency and got out at 2am the next day so bring in a pillow and blanket for yourself

James

Super long waiting time and very rude staff

Jenna Mindori

Very rude. Spoke with two departments and both women were terribly rude. It sucks that they have signs saying that we cannot use abusive language but they can and will use abusive words immediately towards their patients.

Jam Mavis

Rude staff and staff needs more evaluation for their work ethics and attitude

Beant Baryar

11 weeks pregnant leg swelling with blood clots and been waiting at wheelchair from 5.5 hours I wish there is-0 star that I can give

My dad was admitted to Royal Alex two weeks ago, we were overwhelmed with the level of care and compassion he received at the emergency unit, especially Dr. Sydney Ang, he is an amazing Dr. Very kind and the world is a better place because of Drs like him. Thank you for everything! Also thank you to all the drs and nurses at E1 and the emergency who cared for my dad.

Elle Voneva

Rude nurses, they are not professional at all That’s the culture of this department, don’t expect them to change

Worst place I've ever been by far I can't understand how these terrible people got hired

Sad to see all the bad reviews but can say I left a medi Center after not getting care and came to royal Alex…. It was seriously a breath of fresh air. I was anticipating burned out staff from Covid but they were all so kind and empathetic my wait time was about 2 hrs but after my care was fairly fast and constant once the ball started rolling

Really first review seems unbelievable. Went in for a infection. Waited in waiting area for a reasonable amount of time i guess. Once i got in to a bed i waited even longer. In silent so seems to me they were not working talking or doing anything but sitting. There were only 2 nurses and 1 doc on duty that seem to be taking a 1 hour break in between patients. Tried using the washroom and it was utterly disgusting and can cause more sickness. Honestly feel like coming here was a mistake. Not only a wast of time but probably just caught something. Soo many empty chairs in here and full chairs in the waiting room makes u wonder.... update i left because they said i was next they never came.
