DESCRIPTION

We offer you the reviews of people who use the services and products of Digby General Hospital (Hospital) in the territory close to Digby (Canada).

At the moment the firm has a score of 2.4 over 5 and the rating is based on 20 reviews.

You must have seen that the average of ratings that it reaches is really insufficient, and it is based on a high number of feddbacks, so we can think that the score is quite reliable. If there are many people who bothered to leave their feddback when they are pleased, is that it works.

You know that we don't usually bother to set evaluations when they are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...

This Hospital belongs to the category of Hospital.

There is nothing nice I can say about this medical establishment. Frequently closed, so be prepared to drive to Yarmouth. They mistreat their patients, to the point of allowing them to starve to death because it's easier on staff then stocking the equipment needed to actually save people's lives.

Hospital is clean, but old. Needs updates, repairs, more doctors. Doctors there seem stressed, unfriendly, but do get the job done.

I will NEVER go to, or take ANYONE to this hospital unless they are dying! My wife had a bad fall on the ice and impacted her head heavily on our paved driveway. Ambulance was called and they were amazing. Problems started when we arrived at this hospital. The ambulance drivers had called ahead to make sure there would be an x-ray tech on hand because they suspected broken bones. Once we got inside, the on duty doctor saw us briefly and said he couldn't look at my wife as he had just worked a 24 hour shift, so he passed us on to the incoming doctor. We waited in the x-ray department for a short time until the on call x-ray tech arrived. After the results came back we saw the duty doctor who told us there were no broken bones. My wife was in agony and couldn't even bear to have her arms touched. However the doctor proceeded to squeeze BOTH arms as my wife stifled screams. The doctor said this "shouldn't be happening", and in the end said "Well, I'm stumped. There's nothing else I can do for her. Take her home and put her in a hot bath!" My wife couldn't even get off the stretcher let alone go home!! I asked about the possibility of a concussion and she agreed it was likely. I asked if she was keeping her overnight for observation and she said no. I refused to leave in case something cropped up overnight. My wife had been given morphine in the ambulance, but the only thing they gave her in the hospital was an Ativan to calm her down!! An hour or so later I asked a nurse if I could speak to the doctor again when she wasn't busy. I was told she was taking a nap and she'd send her in when she woke up. She never showed. In the morning I saw another doctor making his rounds and I asked if he'd be checking on my wife. The nurse said "No, your wife was signed off last night". I guess the doctor couldn't go for her nap as long as she had a patient to care for!!! NO prescription for pain killers and NO advice regarding the concussion!! A few days later I took her to the Annapolis Medical Center and their doctor looked after her properly. I mentioned my experience at the Digby Hospital to a few friends and as soon as I mentioned that hospital, without exception, they all said "Oh no! You didn't taker here THERE!" My advice to you is never go there. My advice to them is , install proper emergency doors for stretchers, fix the holes and paint the rooms, and find some proper doctors!!!

I've recently started working at DGH after moving back home to NS. It is a great experience working in a rural community hospital - the staff are friendly and welcoming, the work is meaningful, and the cafeteria serves excellent local cuisine (including fishcakes and rappie pie!). This hospital is an asset to the community. There have been physician staffing challenges in the recent past. I am hopeful that these days are behind us, and that we will continue to see health care providers come work in this beautiful town.

Staff.....when they actually talk to you are friendly enough....but...they leave you alone and basically abandoned literally for hours on end.....I arrived at emergency delighted to see not one patient waiting at reception or at emergency....since I only wanted some anti biotics which i made clear when they finally triaged me.....I thought ill be seen and gone quickly since I am only person here.....no such luck....here I am still here over 3 and a half hours later ...abandoned in a room ..while the doctor seems to wander up and down the halls looking lost... it's pathetic....another guy came waited then left ...and yet another older guy is now abandoned in another room....oh and to top it all off....someone has just been wheeled in and is now....the priority....so I'm now back I'd the que......at any time during the last 3 and s half hours. The doctor could have spent the 60 seconds it would have taken him to write the prescription and have had all the time in the world for the....priority that didn't arrive until 10 minutes ago......

Province buys $7.5M of land in Bayers Lake to build new health centre while wait times in every hospital in Nova Scotia is around three to four hrs with very little staff . There is no Doctors out here but we have 7.5 million to spend on another plot of land with no building on it, that will be a vacant ghost building in a few years . Who do I blame the PC and Liberal Government

Having not lived here long we were told “ Don’t go to Digby Hospital unless you want to die”. Eek.. we were a bit concerned when I had no option but to come to this hospital via ambulance. In all honesty, without the superb professionalism, knowledge, care and understanding from everyone that dealt with me I would have died and my 4 children would have been motherless. Dr Ron, Jenny ( from the block!), NP George and others that I fail ( my fault entirely) to remember names for were quite literally amazing. They listened, understood, weren’t judgemental, empathized and sympathized. I had lost half the blood in my body and due to a few existing conditions we needed the medical staff to trust my own knowledge of my body so they could treat me best. I owe them so much for doing this for us. As a result I was stabilized, transferred to kentville and put on the road to recovery. A few more visits back here in the days after and again, amazing attention, support and help. I genuinely believe that had I not attended Digby hospital and received the level of care I did.... my husband and children would be visiting my grave. Thank you ... ♥️
