General Hospital is fantastic. Unfortunately the ER dept is another story. Do yourself a favor, if you require ER Services go directly to Richmond General. Save yourself.

First time in the emergency room in this hospital. I wasn't sure what to expect so i decided to check it out. It wasn't far from my house so I thought it would be interesting to see how in my town, this small facility operated. My journey took 3 hours from the moment that I stepped inside and checked out. The building looked old and somehow similar to a dispensary with lots of corridors. Waiting starts here..... fortunatly I brought movies+ iPad+ headphones over just in case. 1/The registration process was fast and clear. The woman behind the screen (short hair , older) was very nice, in good spirit, funny and gave me many smiles , put me at ease ... that was nice. Back to the waiting ..........more time watching movies...... 2/The triage nurse was not so smiley (younger lady) , however she was pretty straight forward ( I wasn't suffering from life threatening conditions) , my BP registered at an all time high LOL. I HATE being in hospital, it may have something to do with it. Back to waiting ..........more time watching movies 3/A male nurse came to get me, I wasn't impressed with his bed side manners borderline passive aggressive (confirmed at the end) . I understand that i am not his BFF however, smiles are free and they make people feel better. 1 SMILE BUDDY... got it? More time watching movies while waiting? 4/A nurse came to take me to X-ray, she was nice and dropped me off at the assigned area.... and then JOSH APPEARED! 5/Josh, my goodness , you were just AWSOME, HAPPY, UPBEAT, caring. You made my day. Don't change please.... Back to the waiting room in the reception area (where i was told to wait by Josh )and this is where that male nurse (he one from earlier) became short tempered. Apparently he couldn't find me in his area (the other room) and blamed me for being in the wrong area. Instead of coming to me and talk to me, (we are in a hospital after all) he actually yelled from a distance that the doctor was looking for me and he thought that I had left the building ( for everyone to HEAR! ) Seriously Mister ! Your tone was out of line to my standards but it must be routine for you to talk to people that way. It's funny because , after that you were pretty nice with a young lady, I mean ... really nice. Two face nurse, typical to some HCP ... lol.. by the way the doctor came 45 minutes later. 6/LASTLY, the doctor came , he sat next to me, we talked , we joke. we moved to the box area, where he conducted an auscultation on my injury, his gave me a diagnosis and recommendations. He was calm, kind, easy going, listening , and SMILING. In fact, this doctor's smile and professionalism was very refreshing AND contagious. SO THANK YOU ! Overall , it wasn't too bad. I got to see very sick people sadly, and meet new friends. My wish is to never return to the hospital, I came out of it easy, just a small crack in the bone, alive and kicking...

My appointment was 8am for ultrasound after the appointment the nurse ask me to go to emergency i check in with emergency ward and it’s 3hrs i am still waiting to see doctor the people came after me they see doctor and leave but i am still waiting i am not sure for how many hours more i have to wait i am very very disappointing

WORST HOSPITAL EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a minor surgery which I booked many days in advance (I had an appointment) and yet I still had to wait FIVE (5) HOURS FOR IT. How does that even make sense????? Also, I called them multiple times yesterday and many times today but the call never connected.

Walked in at 8pm X-ray done by 830 dr did not see us until 230am. 5 hours sitting and rotting in the waiting room. This makes no sense.

I had lump in the breast which was removed at Delta hospital. It is nice, clean hospital with good staff service and experienced surgoen s. Only day surgeries Take place there, that means no admission required. They have emergency department too and free parking. Only thing missing is that they don't have intensive care unit.

Had to take my husband in Saturday morning. The intake people were efficient and friendly. The nurses, especially Laura and the charge nurse James, were the best. Sunshine and the Dr's were great too. Actually, best hospital experience we have ever had- would not hesitate to go back- were taken care of and felt cared for! Everyone was clean, attentive, and even attractive- like an episode of grey's Anatomy! ha Thanks to everyone! James and laura- you're the best!

We arrived at the hospital after a car accident around 3PM. Right now it's 20:23. Still waiting. My mom of 62 yrs old haven't had any food or water since then. She's done the x-ray since 7PM. Doctor still hasn't briefed her on the status of the x-ray scan. The nurses said the scan showed everything is fine but just literally needs the doctor to talk to her to discharge her. Doctor I saw were socializing at the nursing station. Couldn't even spare a min or two to talk to my mom to discharge her. She hasn't had anything for nearly 10 hours. The above are facts and I'll leave it to you all to form your own opinions.

The waiting time can be excruciatingly long at times in ER, but the staff is incredibly understanding. My brother was rushed in with a temp of 4O degrees and sepsis from a procedure he had done that morning in Richmond Hospital. He’s still at Delta receiving excellent care and slowly on the mend. Our hospital was one of the best in the Lower Mainland until Gordon Campbell decided to shut it down and then was taken over by Fraser Health In my opinion, Fraser Health should be shut down.

I sent my brother in-law there by ambulance about a month ago and he showed up back at my mother-in-laws place 5 hours later. They said he was given water to drink and a chair to sit in, No examination or anything. The following week his roommate sent him by ambulance to Vancouver General and it turned out that he had a brain tumor which was removed the very same day they found it. After checking further they found he has stage 4 cancer and now he's in a hospice. Delta hospital is the worst hospital in the lower mainland and should be shut down. Several years ago my wife's grandmother was there for several days and we went to see how she was doing. We found her sitting in the emergency waiting room in a chair - sitting in her own waste !! We took her out of there and not one person asked us where we were taking her or if we were even related to her. And I have heard of other nightmare stories from other people about this hospital. Some from people that used to work there. Nope I would never send anyone there again. I wouldn't even rate this hospital ONE star but I had to in order to post my review.

I took my parents there because of covid emergency. They made us wait 4,5 hours in their garage, my parents got cold and their infection got worse. They told us to go home without prescribing anything and said you will recover. Now my dad is on a ventilator in ICU. This hospital is a nightmare.

I had a day surgery at Delta Hospital yesterday and was deeply moved by the service and care the nurses provided. I was helped by no less than five women, and everyone was so gentle (even the outwardly brusque German woman who later ensured I was warm enough with so much care). The male anesthesiologist was very calming, and I woke up post surgery before I even noticed I was going under. I was very frightened, but very cared for. Thank you, everyone.

I went into Emergency at Delta Hospital on the evening of Sat 23-Oct in rough shape. I had a serious gall bladder infection that had spread to my colon and blood and my blood pressure had dropped to below half what it should have been. I had pain and could hardly walk from feeling so exhausted. I learned later just how serious it was. Had I been a day later, I may have died. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with professional, and efficient care. I cannot speak highly enough of everyone in Emergency and the second floor. After 9 days I am now gratefully back home. In those days there were several doctors and many nurses looking after me and every one of them was thorough, kind and caring. They are under alot of stress, often dealing with unruly grumpy patients, working long hours and often under-staffed. Yet, they maintained there standards of care and I am so grateful to them all. Thank you. You saved my life.

It's a very close hospital for Delta locals . long waits usually three hours to see a doctor . Priority gets first of course. they just need more staff and more doctors as they are understaffed . Need more beds and private rooms . Nurses are nice. If You want to get treated right away it's faster to just drive to Surrey or Vancouver, especially late at night

If you have any injury at all save yourself the hassle and go to a real hospital. 7 hours to get 3 stitches in my thumb. After waiting 6 hours to finally be seen by the doc and getting the stitches. They left me in the little room and nobody came back to dress my stitches after. Wasn't even that busy when I was there. Lots of nurses just standing around. I'm a patient guy and I don't hassle to be seen faster but that was absolutely ridiculous. Should have went with my first instinct after the first 3 hours and a went home to Chilliwack where I would be seen and fixed up within 3 hours.

Worst experience ever. I went with my friend to emergency. My friend was in a major stomach pain, but hospital staff kept on calling patients, who just walked in ( when we were waiting from almost 2 hours ). Triage nurses were rude. They were not concerned about patients at all. One of them was chewing gum all the time, which is totally unprofessional. I understand that they are busy ,but they should be a little bit more concerned about patients ( as no one comes to hospital for fun).

Been to this hospital twice within two weeks in excruciating pain but they can't find anything wrong. Don't listen to patients whom have lived in their own bodies for x years. Blow off your symptoms to something that it isn't and then send you home.

Went to this hospital when my 8 years old unexpectedly decided to surprise me in the kitchen, even though she’s not allowed to touch the knives. Ended up cutting her hand. Went to the closest hospital in a panic. Arrived around 7. 30 pm , only around 3 am the nurse finally used the glue to close the wound, luckily it wasn’t so big. The nurse told me to keep the bandage for a week on her hand, it fell off the next day. The rest of the week I was the nurse for my daughter. So after almost 8 hours waiting in the hospital, it took the nurse 5 min to glue the wound and the bandages didn’t even stay on for 12 hours lol. For the person who just moved to BC , it wasn’t such a good impression. Will try to avoid this hospital in the future.

It's too bad that this hospital wasn't shut down years ago when Fraser Health had the chance. The resident racoons in the empty lot would have provided better patient care than you currently get. I took my girlfriend to emergency on Saturday April 17 for strangulated internal hemorrhoids. While crying in pain, my girlfriend was sharply asked by the triage nurse if she was sure she was crying to to pain. Finally, after getting her information, she was told to wait (as expected). However, she was unable to sit down, and was forced to stand there in tears, nearly passing out due to her pain. When she finally was admitted, no help was offered to help her into the emergency room. Once there, she was forced to sit in the waiting area, in tears and gasping for breath. The nurses were sharp, uncaring, and unhelpful. She was denied a bed (despite lying flat being the only position that could provide any relief from the pain). A nurse finally moved her to a bed for an external rectal exam (again, she had internal strangulated hemorrhoids), then was immediately moved my girlfriend back to the chair. A while later, she was finally given some pain medication (that didn't do anything), before being moved back from the chair to the bed for another external rectal exam from the doctor (again, for her INTERNAL hemorrhoids). She was finally given some more pain medication before getting sent to sit in the chair again. Upon getting discharged, she was given a printout of a website for external hemorrhoids, and was given pain medication with minimal instructions. Nobody told her when to take doses, nobody checked on her, nobody asked if she had a ride (she was barely able to walk). Delta hospital emergency left my girlfriend feeling dehumanized, humiliated, and invalidated. How she was treated by hospital staff was completely unacceptable. These hospital should be embarrassed and ashamed for their behaviour and standard of care of their patients.

I've been here several times in the last few weeks. Every person, from the volunteers at the entrance, to the Doctors in Emergency, and the students in various areas I went, have all been kind, honest and willing to listen and answer my questions. They asked the right questions and answered the ones I brought to them. I was anxious and worried and their positive and kind attitudes made my experience here much easier to get through. I had day surgery and I cannot rave enough about the nurses, and doctors at this hospital. The attention and care was incredible from registration all the way to walking out of the hospital. I was nervous going in but the humor the nurses and doctors had made me feel so comfortable and I totally forgot I was nervous. Thank you to all the nurses and doctors involved with my surgery

Each time I have had to go to emerg. The doctors have been fantastic. Dr. Curry is by far the best ever. Great bedside manner, excellent communication, and very kind. I only wish he had his own practice.

Bathrooms wreak of urine, so much so that you can smell it outside of the door. The staff is 50/50, some are super friendly and others act like you're an annoyance. Incredibly slow. Never have I waited so long for my child to be seen, hours and hours of her vomiting in the hallway. If you're in an emergency I'd recommend driving to Surrey, Richmond, or Vancouver because I dont think they could handle it here. I will say that once my daughter was finally seen the doctor was very nice and kind to her, she was a good doctor and thorough.

One of the Lower Mainlands smallest Hospitals, Delta Hospital is located in South Delta. The Nurses and Doctors here are both very caring and compassionate! When i was really sick, I would request BC Ambulance Service to take me here and not the closer Surrey Memorial Hospital! I was never put into a closet here, unlike SMH!

This hospital is no longer what it use to be. Gave my very elderly grandpa a staf infection While being tested for a lung infection. Some of the nurses were amazing to him and some were awful. He still almost a year later has to have a nurse come to the home to drain the wound and re dress the wound. My mom went to the hospital recently with lower right side pain- even as her daughter I knew it was likely her appendix, they sent her home with morphine pills. I forced her to go back the next day she sat in emergency waiting for almost 5 hours in exrutiating pain to the point I had to ask for a stretcher for her- turns out her appendix was bursting the whole time- they didn’t end up doing the surgery until 10am. This is absurd. I’d rather pay for healthcare like in the USA than risk the service at this hospital.

Well, there is often a long wait at emergency but, many come in from all parts of Delta and Surrey. Dr. Lee saw me today after X-rays at radiology. All went very well. Dr. Lee is extremely good and actually called for a follow up as promised. Had broken ribs and Dr. Lee really eased my mind with his thorough checks.

Brought my sister in. The brown lady at the front was so rude interrupted me while I was telling her what was wrong with my sister as she wasn’t comfortable speaking herself. This lady at front desk had the audacity to give me lip service and in the end asked me the questions anyways. Worst experience ever. I posted this on my FB page and felt I should share it here as well. I was in emergency June 7 and 8th. I unfortunately had to spend a couple days in the hospital due to my COPD. What I hate most about being hospitalized are the meals they put in front of you and have the audacity to call it food. I spent my 2 days in the Delta Hospital and was wowed by their food. Every meal was, understandably bland, but really very tasty. Tuesday dinner was Butter Chicken, rice and broccoli with vanilla ice cream for dessert...WHAT!!?? Apparently they prepare their food "in house", other hospitals have theirs brought in. Should I have another emergency situation that will be the place I'll be heading for sure. Oh, and every individual who tended to me was terrific (even though they were all talking about it being the busiest day they'd had in ages). I truly hope none of you ever require emergency services, but if you find yourself in need, I strongly recommend Delta Hospital. Cheers everyone...have a great day! Saw an incredible doctor who went above and beyond to provide care to me. Dr. Justin Powers is truly an example of what a doctor should aspire to be. He is kind, compassionate and caring. He was meant to be a doctor. He continuously followed up with me throughout my time there, order the appropriate tests for me and also called to follow up with my GP who was also shocked a doctor cared so much. He took an incredibly stressful and emotional experience and turned it into a manageable one. I was really taken back by how amazing he was. If you read this doctor I thank you from the bottom of heart.

Very upsetting! Went with a concern of a fractured foot. Swollen, unable to walk on it. He's recovering from a fractured hip & now a foot issue. Hasn't walked for 7months. Waited over 3 hours. The nurse in triage was very cold. They assisted a guy with an ingrown toenail & a guy with a swollen knee who could walk fine, over the guy on crutches with a swollen foot! No help at all, had to leave unassisted after well over 3 hours.

If you can avoid it, try not being seen to by Dr. LaFleur. He is quick to get you out of the ER without seeing to your needs appropriately. He does not listen to what you tell him, and will send you on your way.

Every team member from triage nurses to doctors are very attentive and professional. I felt really cared about by every person working at this hospital ER. You can easily spend 4+ hrs there, but you will receive great care and results at the end. Highly recommend.

I had a severe bronchitis, so my doctor sent me to the hospital to get an X-ray because I had trouble breathing, and he thought it could be pneumonia or something else. At this point, I was new in Canada and had private health insurance. When I went to the reception at the hospital, the receptionist wanted to see ID, so I showed her my European DL. She was very mean about it, didn't even hand it back to me but THREW it back at me because it wasn't a Canadian DL. So she said there wasn't much they could do for me and I just had to wait or go home, although my doctor told me to go to the hospital immediately. I didn't understand the problem because I signed that I would pay for everything right there in the hospital. This is a terrible hospital, I would never go back to this place!

I been living in delta for past 27 years and today I had the worst experience at delta hospitals. I took my wife there , who was suffering with severe back pain and the very first staff member ( Kulwinder) who was making sure no one else goes in, other than, patient due to covid , was very ill mannered person .SMH allows one visitor with patient to stay , and here in delta she thought she owns the hospital. Fraser health needs to train there staff properly .Don’t act like people don’t know what’s going on , everyone watched what you did .

Giving this one star just to put the review on. I came in emergency coz i had problem with my pregnancy and got worse yesterday. M here 3 hrs and doctor told that we dk not check fetal heartrate here and we are going tk refer you to surrey . They should have some empathy and understand patient's mental state. They have no gynecologist here. If they cannot satisfy patient they should tell it before, not after 3 hrs wait. I came here coz surrey has long wait, but here seems more than there.

Been sitting here for over 90 minutes. My father had an appointment at 1 PM for a colonoscopy, he has not eaten or drank in over 15 hours. It is 2:35 PM and there is still someone ahead of us. All you got is nurses acting as janitors. Awful management and treatment of the patients. If you cant handle the job, quit and let someone who is not fatigued or disinterested do the job for you. Turtle pace workers.
