Here you will be able to see the feddbacks of people who have information of the services of Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Building @ QEII Health Sciences Centre (Hospital) in the area close to Dalhousie (Canada).
Now this firm receives a score of 3.1 stars out of 5 and this rating is based on 127 reviews.
As you can see the average of ratings that it reaches is discreet, neither too high nor too low, and it's founded on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may think that the assessment is very faithful. If many people have bothered to leave their score when they've done well, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to write scores when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Hospital belongs to the category of Hospital.
On September 26, 2018, a doctor at the Halifax Infirmary Emergency lied on my health notes and said that I was administered Olanzapine and Alprazolam for agitation. I was not. This doctor set up my health notes so that the next time I am brought into the Halifax Infirmary Emergency I will be murdered. Vlog # 73. Please also watch Vlog # 76. This is not conjecture. The emergency doctors and nurses are murdering what the Nazi's called Undesirables.
Spent 6 hours in the ER today, and not even one doctor checked on me! Worst emergency room I've ever came across in my life, left the hospital with total disappointment and pain worse than before!
Emergency department care is very poor and bad. It’s Taking too much time to see the dr Then how can its called emergency
Great staff clean environment
Disgusting service.
i brought my husband for lower right pain in his abdomen and arrived there at 9pm and was still there at 3am still in waiting room. I am pregnant and at my 10weeks! People go for emergency for immediate assistance but you will die waiting for them to assist you. This is crazy!!!
I went with a potentially enlarged spleen. I was told it would be a 6 hr wait. After 7 hrs in the waiting room, i was then told it would be another 6 hr wait. Possibly under staffed? Or maybe a swollen abdomen with pains is nothing to worry about, so I wasnt high on the priority list.
6 hours in acute pain before anyone did anything. Pathetic. I finally yelled out someone call the pain Dr right now. I'd like to give my Dr a 5 .*. Dr Sean Christie. Amazing neurosurgeon. This is one of what I think will be one of two surgeries done a week apart.
Clean
I was rushed to the emergency room last week with an medical issue that led to me having emergency surgery. I realize people complain about wait times, but the doctor in emerge that day spent at least an hour trying to save my life before a surgeon took over. He was by my side while non life threatening people sat in the waiting room, and while I feel your pain in that, I'm also very grateful that the system works in the most urgent cases. I've also sat in an emergency room waiting for hours, before this week I also thought it annoying, but now I realize what goes on behind the scenes is far more important than I ever thought. Just to count off the top of my head, how many people it took to save my life that day, 2 surgeons, 1 ER doc, 3 nurses, and 6 strangers who donated the blood I received. I was given the absolute best treatment. From the time I entered the emergency room, to the day I left 4 days after, the level of care and competence was absolutely outstanding. I cannot say enough good things about the nurses during my time there. In the IMCU, Helen if you read this, you are an angel. For as many issues as we may see in our medial system, when it counts, we have the best care in the world, in my humble opinion.
I went to emergency after I had a sudden onset of symptoms of a life-threatening illness that leads to acute renal failure in 30-40% of patients if untreated immediately. I was told by the triage nurses at the QEII that I was at the back of the line and it would be at least a 7- or 8-hour wait. The triage nurse informed me there were 112 people and 17 ambulances ahead of me! From what I read online, I could not wait that long so I went to Dartmouth General. They did a blood test within an hour after I got there. As soon as they got the results back from the lab they were visibly panicked and rushed me onto a gurney and began treatment. It was truly an emergency situation and I ended up staying at the hospital almost a week. Thankfully I went to Dartmouth General because the QEII did not even see my case as an emergency. That is incredibly disturbing as I may have had permanent kidney damage had I waited 8 hours. I am not saying Dartmouth General is a great hospital either, but at least they saw an emergency and acted quickly.
Terrible triage, a women who may be miscarring should not be told she has priority over people with "cuts and brusies" shameful hospital, clinics do better patient care than what a fully serviced hospital can do, sitting here for 12 hours bleeding and watching people walk by with a limp or a cough to be seen is uncomprehensable to me.
Wait times can be atrocious at 5h+, but the staff is amazing.
They tell you to drink water and take tylonel, It's always just a virus with these people.........even if you're missing a limb
Awesome staff. Great place to visit in a time of need.
The ER, 5th floor staff and 7.1 floor staff... Heart surgical floors - they work hard and are constantly caring for the patients. Family matters. The Savory Restaurant, Tim Hortons staff, and Shoppers Drug Mart... People care just when we need it. Thanks QEII and your amazing associates. Nice family rooms to rest in while tending to family patients. TV. Puzzles. Books. Fridge. Piano. Microwave. Comfy chairs.
I came here in severe pain and watched a properly run triage system work. I was assessed and admitted in a timely fashion. Very good care.
Absolutely terrible. Doesn’t even deserve 1 star. I waited for over 7 hours before seeing anyone and they wouldn’t do anything for my pain and sent me home to take Advil... if Advil had been working, I wouldn’t have come to the hospital.
Be prepared to wait over eight hours. Talked to the RN and no idea how much longer, apparently there is not enough Doctors... sad state of affairs.
Bool sheet!!! 7 hours waiting.... It's radiculas!!! People need halp now !!! , and people waiting 7 to 12 hours.... What u think???
Thank you to the very professional and very caring cardiology team who made my very sick husband well. The team at 6.4 are the best.
Spent 2 months here in 2016 and received EXCELLENT care! The staff is amazing, kind, and knowledgable. Best hospital east of Montreal
Veterans here get the best care and service in Nova Scotia
Every time I've had to go to the ER, I've waited for hours and then they basically check my temperature and send me home. They've never been helpful whatsoever.
So dirty
Staff is great. Facility is clean and parking is reasonable.
Great staff
It's Very good and fast
Bit overpriced if you ask me. You're better off finding street parking nearby. Remember to take your stub inside with you so you can pay on the way out.
Hell on Earth. Man we need to get some doctors here.
My husband was ambulance transferred at night from a CCU in another province & for over 2 wks we were asked why we were in NS! I regularly reassured, “We live here. The ‘event’ took place elsewhere.” There appeared to be a profound lack of communication between care givers or with family. Never once after the initial conversation in the admitting unit did anyone* seem to have time to talk. In yet another unit there was one nurse who made time the night before transfer to yet another area. We truly appreciated this engaging & caring young woman. No discharge planning discussions could be had. One rude male cardiologist appeared to try to bully me w a very unrealistic demand. Sadly, I had not met this man prior to that; this made the experience even more shocking & painful. Over all, this is a potentially great hospital w so many resources including research programs. However, almost everyone seemed to assume that if a family member were available then he or she would do all personal care for the patient; do not pester us w questions of any nature. “You will a print-out when he is discharged.” In the meantime, please do not disturb us. * we did have one superb cardiologist in the first few days; she was wonderful! The cardiovascular surgeon appeard to be genuine in his pre-op visit, & the neurologist included me in discussions then she made a valuable referral. I was never privy to meeting a cardiologist on the next unit. It was there that a very confusing / terrifying phone conversation w a very mannered associate who completely shocked me as she stumbled in English. It was her ?mentor cardiologist who took the phone to try to bully me, as noted above. Please note: When I state “we” I am referring to my husband, (the patient) & myself. I say this as I am my husband’s advocate & I (as w any patient’s significant other) must be included in situation updates & future planning. Health care professionals need to drop the ‘god complex’ & remember that they are not treating ‘a xxx case’ but a human being. In our situation this human being has been a previously healthy, lean, active, productive professional, a non-smoker, healthy eater, not taking an any meds, with no known history for this problem! This married human has no other family in the area. Who else should be there for him?!
My father and I were here nearly a week. He has dementia and I stayed 24 hrs a day. The staff were excellent, John, Jonas, Connie, David & Dakin all wonderful and caring nurses. It really is amazing how they do their jobs with so much kindness, understanding and patience ❤️ I had one recurring issue while we were here , and it was the medication room door. We were across the hall from it. If not caught slams hard. During the day is acceptable but not late in the night. I got tired of mentioning it, because each night was a new crew. Boggles my mind that someone wouldn’t think to make this door quiet. The food was delivered on time and always hot. One thing that surprised me is the amount of carbs given to patients on the diabetic diet.
Avoid the ER in this hospital, even if you are fully healthy upon arrival, you will die for the endless waiting times... Very friendly administrative clerk, but the Dr. totally forgot us (4hrs so far... and counting) Tip: don't forget your HealthCard! Or bring your debit/credit card plus driver's license.
Quality care provided in a great setting for it... My thanks!
Great experience with the Neurologist, Dr. Ikeda. The staff members were very helpful during each of my three visits. The only issue is paid parking, however, this is the norm at Nova Scotia Hospitals.
Very caring Team.Nice comfortable atmosphere.
Horrible! I've been here 7 hours, I'm still waiting as I write this and any time I ask a nurse she gives me utter snark and attitude about "Umm there's people dying in this hospital" when she's been giggling with another nurse for 10+ minutes.
Waited 5 hours for a doctor to even speak to us. Then she told us she had to call someone and she’d be right back and didn’t return for hours. We arrived at 10 PM and left at 5 AM with virtually nothing happening what so ever.
Nazis of Health Care, This place is a disgrace for mental health crisis or any health care. Apparently there are nurses who think there qualified to be able to diagnosis a situation. The nurse escalates situations. Nobody is on the same page. They need your medical records because asking anyone to think for themselves is unheard of. 3 of my family members died from misdiagnosis at this lousy hospital. In most cases the staff need more help then the patients. Mental Health Mobile Crisis is worse. Ignorance and full of ego. It doesn't take a degree to know treating people like dirty animals left to bleed on the street, doesn't make them better. It makes them worse. So you wasted all your time and money in university for nothing. They form an opinion and that's it for the next 20 years you are that opinion. They don't change it so you have no chance of changing it either. This hospital is a joke. Nova Scotia Health Care is a joke. I've had international Doctors call Nova Scotia third world care for mental health. The QE2 is dangerous. I would highly recommend to everyone with means to go international for your care.
Prepare to wait more than 5+ hours.
I have visited this hospital several times in the last couple months with multiple people for a variety of issues and I am absolutely horrified by the service. Below are the details of my most recent experience; As an individual familiar with mental health issues, if you're in need of assistance you're better off not calling 911. The staff and the hospital are under qualified, inexperienced and display disgrace towards the mental health community. To place an individual in an "interview room" with not a word from a staff member for over four hours is a disgrace to humanity. Then finally after a five minute conversation with a doctor you're told they're under-qualified and you must now wait for a senior doctor. Two hours later the "more qualified" doctor arrives to determine the course of treatment. All while injured and ill patients lay sleeping in the hallways and chairs all waiting for the doctor who is "extremely busy". I received better health care in Africa.
No better place in Nova Scotia to get better
Have gone there for suicide attempts and was sent home and they do the same thing all the time
This is actually the address that google maps gives for the infirmary actually located on robie street. I got lost & almost had accident following google maps.
A clean, friendly, well-run hospital for veterans. Family-friendly, and lots of activities for the patients. Staff is overall WONDERFUL but seriously: there just aren't enough of them. Place is seriously under-staffed. Like many countries, the way Canada takes care of its aging veterans could stand improvement for certain: the place is under-funded rather severely.
Food food in the Canteen sucks. Add the kitchen safe are thieves..
Dr. Flemming was literally the best human being on the planet! And her nurse team was word class too.
If I could rate 0/5 stars I would. Absolutely terrible service and staff. Seems as though there is ZERO communication between staff members, and the staff don't interact with patients at all. Waited 3 hours in the hall in a wheelchair(12am-3am) then was moved to a room for another 3 hours (3am-6am) and then moved to a 3rd room where he doctor came in and didn't know I had a broke toe, so he then began to push and pull my toe extremely hard. And then told me to get x-rays, becyhe didn't know I already had hen done 5 hrs ago, at 1 am. I left at 7am, after arriving at midnight. During my 7 hour trip I was forgotten, told to walk down the hall on my broken toe, I froze in the hall because it's freezing and there was no nurse in the hall to even ask for a blanket. Very disappointed in this hospital and ot health care system.
Unfortunately I’ve been here quite often over the past few years, both for myself and several family members. The staff are caring, friendly and very competent. The are also overworked, underfunded and deluged daily with unrealistic expectations and non-emergencies in the emergency room. From my experiences they are doing an amazing job under difficult circumstances , with much less support than they deserve from the government and the public.
How is it even possible to be in the waiting room for 8 hours before seeing a nurse or dr? Dont know why it's called an emergency
very long waiting times
Extremely friendly and caring staff. Everyone, from the receptionist to the paramedics and doctors, was very helpful and highly professional! Yes, the waiting times can be long (especially on the weekend), but it is an emergency room ... Of course, more urgent cases need to be dealt with first! It would also be great if the working conditions for staff in health care were better - 12hour shifts are neither fair on the staff nor on the patients.
Q10 Hospital Halifax N.S
My Dad has been at Camp Hill residence for veterans for a few years. The place is kept clean. Physiotherapy and visits to the neighboring QEII health services for any specialist needs are a bonus over typical long term care homes like those run by Shannex. The staffing level of CCAs is probably the same minimum no matter where. It's barely adequate for dealing with the number of people there needing help. With COVID-19 it wasn't possible to visit for awhile. After a few months, when I went in to visit, I found my Dad's toothbrush and holder had red growth on it and smelled like feces. A week before they had reported he was vomiting for unknown reasons (it couldn't be the food because no one else was sick) . He had a stroke a couple of years ago and one of the nurses specializing in stroke victims decided his toilet needs were impulsive behaviours, needing structure of a regular 2 hours routine. I pointed out to the charge nurse at multiple times that he also suffers from ulcerative colitis, and when there is a flare up he actually needs to go more often. They always say they understand, and then I witness the 2 hour rule is still in place the next time I am in. This failure to be able to accommodate his needs has been going on for a couple of years. It isn't easy to know what someone with vascular dementia is talking about, but the need to go to the washroom is something that is usually communicated well. When I inquired about the option to hire extra care for my Dad's needs (this was before COVID), I was told this was not allowed - he could have privately funded companion services, but not nursing care.
Good experience at the ER. Quick and easy, friendly nurses and staff. Although you really have to pick the doctor's brain for information otherwise you will get the bare minimum.
Very friendly staff and educational services
Long wait, didnt feel welcome, the place is confusing to navigate and information is difficult to get.
(Translated) An out of the ordinary service. Resident in Quebec our expectations are realistic .... In less than 30 mins, triage 1 and 2, observations by nurse. 45 mins x-rays ... Wow !!! How to say. I am without words (Original) Un service hors de l'ordinaire. Residant au Quebec nos attentes sont realistes.... En moins de 30 mins, triage 1 et 2, observations par infirmiere. 45 mins rayons x... Wow!!! Comment dire. Je suis sans mots
Boyfriend just came back from the hospital after going there with concerns about a small black bump that appeared on his leg about two weeks ago. The staff out front was very polite and understood why he was worried when he showed them the bump. When he finally got into the room the dr was seeing him in, it took him longer to roll up his pant leg then it did for the dr to decide that it was nothing. But this wasn’t before he made my boyfriend feel like his genuine concern was a waste of time and told him to leave. You’d think a dr who’s been told the person they’re seeing is worried about a weird black skin growth would at least be somewhat professional in this situation instead of picking at the bump with his fingernail, going you’re fine and then walking out in under 20 seconds.
We may have excessive wait times which causes frustration ; but dont forget to be grateful for all the social workers, nurses & doctors do for us, and their communities! I am super appreciative for all of you. Thank you so much!
Was seen to very quickly, got a diagnosis of GBS within a few hours, and started treatment that same day. The fast handling of the situation resulted in a much reduced severity of symptoms to deal with and a speedy recovery time. Everyone I dealt with was kind, caring and helpful. Thanks to the QEII!
Broke my ankle while visiting Halifax. Everyone, paramedics, nurses, nursing assistants and doctors were fantastic. They got me a sandwich, helped me freshen up , even a toothbrush, explained all my options, and provided me with a CD of all my X-Rays to bring to my home province.. Spent one night in emergency, and they gave my husband a cot so he could get some rest too. Everyone couldn't be kinder. Wish I could remember everyone's name so I could thank them personally!
Wait times are absolutely unreal. Plan to clear your schedule for the rest of the day whether you are in emerge or have an appointment with a doctor. Friendliness doesn't seem to be a big concern amongst staff either.
Everything
Have unfortunately wound up in the E.R. a few times in the past 3 years (including on a code census day), and have always been impressed with the calmness and professionalism of the staff there. The triage system means you can't expect it to be first come first served, which only makes sense, and some will wait longer than others. I've found the bedside manner of the doctors and nurses great as the casts have gone on, or the stitches been put in!

Great staff, very efficient
This place is the absolute worst hospital that I have ever been to. I was in there with my partner with severe abdominal pains and a huge emergency as she was in severe pain, shaking, couldn't walk, and weak. They had us sitting for 7 damn hours because old people decided to stay in the sun and not hydrate appropriatly. (That being said I understand that there are emergencies sometimes and they need to be tended to first for sure. But when people come in hours after us and nothing even is wrong with them and they get called on first before someone who was tjere for hours and in pain, tjay doesnt make sense to me.) Then when I ask a question the staff were rude and ignorant. Unfortunately this is the only emergency close by me but I will never go here ever again unless it is an emergency that I may be dying. Maybe then they might try to help people out. Someone with severe pains and numerous symptoms of something serious should be seen before old people who just have a cough or are dehydrated. Drink water and stay out of the sun, that's a simple damn solution for dehydration. Worst hospital I have ever been to, would never recommend this horrible place. I'd rather drive two hours to Bridgewater than ever go back here to these ignorant people.
Worst place ever i visited. They make patients wait for such a long periods.
Staff was nice but the waiting time .to be treated by the doctor was really bad
Waited to see a doctor from 5pm till 3am the next day. Despite completing the lab tests, nurses said I should lie on the bed and wait for doctor. 3 hours later no doctor in sight. Very very terrible experience. Recommended only if no other choice
The people working here are Amazing!! The medical team have such a caring and beautiful way with patients. Thank You!!!
Triage system is completely out of order and some of the sickest people in the waiting room will have the longest wait
All nurses and Dr Barry surgeon Dr Weeks were wonderful thank you all :)
My mother was there for 2 weeks. Amazing Nurses and Doctors there .
Prove
If you just pop in and out to visit your loved one, sure.. the staff are polite. It's not just about if the staff are nice or not, is it? It's the care of your loved one. If you are heavily involved in your loved one's care(as you need to be) especially if your loved one needs full on care, you have to be around to pick up the personal care that doesn't get attended to. Ie; Daily oral hygiene , leaving food on the corner of the mouth after meals causing uncomfortable skin issues. Not caring for the skin and cleaning with soap , drying, which in my fathers case, he developed a skin issue on the back of his head which he never had in his life until his washing being in the care of others. I find the staff is a little relaxed on consistency as I constantly have to ask them to do something basic that we all do in our daily lives as a part of our personal basic care.. I often come in and it looks as though this teeth do not get tended to regularly , and certainly not flossing. My father developed oral thrush and angular cheilitis due to the inconsistent oral hygiene care. You have to watch out for your loved one. If you are up close and personal with them you will see what is not being taken care of. For a veterans hospital, it could have more care staff.
Good exterior of building but nothing giving the public an idea of what the inside looks like. P.M.M.
Unfriendly nurses and doctors.
Waiting forever, even though the other hospital sent us here and said they were “ready and waiting”. 2.5 hours later still nothing, even though 7 people who came in well after ya got in well before us. Ridiculous. One staff member spends more time on her phone then assisting, that could be a factor contributing to the slow times. Someone literally just came in and just walked in and we are now moving on 3 hour wait. This comes after the scandal where they sent a girl home and she had to be amputated, confidence on -percent right now with this place. Embarrassed, disappointed, and frustrated to say the least.
waited 8 hrs in ER.
Fortunately so far I have only needed QEII for routine health care needs, and I am *very* happy that it is within walking distance for me. As a senior it is important for me to stay on top of my health issues and having the Centre so close is a boon. In the context of the relatively low-pressure routine services I have used, I have found the staff excellent and polite. I can understand how Emerg. experiences could be quite different!
Went in with a friend who was experiencing alcohol poisoning, was brought in through an ambulance and then moved to the waiting room where they removed her from a gurney and placed her on a waiting room couch. Where we waited another two hours. Finally after I talked to a nurse she came over and starting kneeing our friend telling her to get up, that she was faking being asleep. When I told her to stop she said she was faking it and to might as well leave. This went on for several minutes until an RN pulled me aside, she did not apologize for the actions and disrespectfulness of the nurse until she spoke to my mother who I had to call because the staff were not helping us. I understand the frustration of dealing with drunk people on a regular basis, especially of students, but I have never met such uncaring, disrespectful nurses. Every time i have visited the emergency room I have been treated rudely because I'm young.
Went in for an appointment and was kept until I hd surgery which was 8 days later.Nurses and doctors were fantastic in Neurology and Neurosurgery!!!!
Where can I start staff was unprofessional for instance I had a disagreement with one of the employees and 2 security guards surrounded me like I’m a criminal, also waiting time is a disaster when I get sick next time I’d rather die peacefully in my home than come to this hospital.
Ii was taken down to emergency by kind ambulance attendants. When I was seen regarding my problem. I was made fun of and laughed at and this made me feel very bad for the fact that I was honest. ( Mr Robert Canning. Trans man)
Wiat time is absolutely ridiculous. Few years ago, I went with my friend and had to wait for 13 (THIRTEEN) hrs before he was seen. I was there recently with another friend who was in excruciating pain, and even he had to wait for 3 hrs before he was given a pain medication. It was Sat night, waiting room was full, and apparently there were only two doctors on duty! Just pray that you or your loved ones do not have to go through this experience.
This place is miserable, this place exposes the problem with the provincial goverment of NS. The government spends so much money on the police force to arrest potheads and leaves the sick and elderly wait for hours and hours without seeing a doctor. The hospital is always short staffed and serves awful food and exteremly slow service I have never been there and waited less than 6+ hours. This is unacceptable, especially when we are paying taxes the way we are. Once i cut a nerve in my foot and these clowns sewed my leg shut with a severed nerve inside. Now even when sick, i always try to avoid coming to this horrible place.
I was in hospital for six weeks two years ago and overall I found the nurses rude. There were a couple that I felt comfortable with but very few. After transfer from one building to another was really difficult. One senior nurse welcomed me by screaming things like “well it’s for sure we have nothing here for you to wear.” And “if you fall here, we have nothing here to pick you up.” These remarks were screamed from the nursing station. That evening around meal time the nurse came in and wanted to apologize but I said no because you had to have meant or you wouldn’t have said it. Told her she should retire if she didn’t want to work with sick people. I wasn’t there for fun!!
I didn’t get a chance to see a doctor and waited 8* hours but they tried their best to see everyone
Top notch care. Paid parking only.
Nova Scotians are blessed with best in class Physicians, the most amazing and caring nurses and it must be contagious as all of the other departments at QE II are so considerate and so professional. It was a true gift to spend Christmas and New Years in their care. Thank you
Absolutely horrible care. I went in for excruciating abdominal pain of three days duration, 9 hours later they sent me home and told me to come back if I felt worse. 6 days later and still sick I started running a fever of 39.8, went back, I was given Tylenol and told it would be a 5 hour wait. In the waiting room I developed chest pains, I was then told do drink something to see if it helps. I explained that a different nurse told me not to eat or drink anything, the admitting nurse said that didn't make sense. I left because the quality of care I was about to receive didn't seem worth the wait.
It’s the worst health care hospital. WE WAITED HERE FOR 6 HRS JUST TO SPEAK TO A DOCTOR. after registration they told us to wait and a lady will come and call ur name. And a doctor attended us after 7 hrs. Maybe they think that kidney pain is not important.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. It not An easy job Most nights it's really busy in Emergency room. But still the service is very good. With the health care system as bad as it is .the service is fantastic.
Use as a last resort, the wait times in emerg and crazy. Staff are great but the hospital is over wealmed with non emerg patients who cant be bothered to make a doctors appt. and people without Family doctors.
The nurses and all employees are great . They go out other way to make your loved one comfortable and happy
I found staff and doctors to be quite amazing in everything they do ☺
