Everytime i go to this place i get reminded to why i avoid it. Get in there and there are people that have ben there for 9 or 10 hours. In the first 3 hours i was there everyone that was before me got in. So i figured i should be getting in soon. Another hour goes by with not one person getting in, even though almost everyone else that went in was already gone. Then they take someone else who was there after me and didnt look like she needed immediate attention.i figured ill wait till they call one more person and see if im getting in or not. Another hour goes by and they finally come out and called the name of the girl who signed in right after i did who also didnt look like she needed immediate attention. I stormed right out of this place. This hospital is the biggest joke i have ever seen. Everyone gets in and out in 10 minutes but it takes them another half hour just to call someone in. GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE

Be prepared to spend 6 hours in the waiting room, just to be told to go see your family doctor for your issue by some quack who is too lazy to take 5 minutes to help you, and would rather go back to shuffling papers pretending to look busy.

The only quick attention you will get here is with blood work department or if you're buying pop and chips from the poor excuse of a cafeteria. Not only are the staff rude, but the wait times are worse than long in emerg and with appointments with Dr.s. Sure if you need a dressing change in emerg you likely won't wait any longer than 20 min or so, but people, if you have a real emergency and can travel another 1/2 hour, do so. It could save your life by seeking medical attention elsewhere.

YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO CALL THIS A HOSPITAL!!! MY 82YR OLD FATHER WHO HAS NOT HAD A DOCTOR SINCE LAST NOVEMBER AS HIS DOCTOR RETIRED SPENT ALMOST 12HRS IN EMERGENCY WAITING TO SPEAK WITH A DOCTOR ABOUT HEALTH CONCERNS. I'M SURE BECAUSE HE HAS NO FAMILY DOCTOR AND NEEDED REASURANCE THAT HE WAS OK.....WHERE IS YOUR COMPASSION!! 12HRS IS WAY TO LONG FOR ANYONE ESPECIALLY AN 82YR OLD.

I haven't experienced the ER end of the hospital but have had doctor appointments, imaging and surgery and found the hospital itself a very clean, bright and open place to go, nothing but good experiences.

Er doc is a lazy asswipe expect easily a 8 hour wait and no privacy laying in a bed in the hallway. the rest of the hospital isn't much better leaving blood stains on recovery room floor and bedsheets for 7 days. My sons ultrasounds were misinterpreted here where docs put me into labor early causing him to be born premature. Also during our stay I somehow managed to get a chemical burn hmm...

It was not me I brought my granddaughter and her son he had to have surgery on his teeth and had to be put to sleep where he was so young and everyone that was intending to him were so great with him they all loved my great grandson and want to thank everyone involved oh and my great grandson was a great trooper wasn't scart at all

I always find that the staff here are fast efficient and professional. Mostly I go for bloodwork and other tests and rarely have to wait more than 5 - 10 minutes. I haven't spent much time in out-patience as i typically try to get to my family doctor for such things.

I had to wait over an hour and half just to see a doctor for my hurting eye… couldn’t imagine it could be this worst … the wait time was ridiculous and no one even confirms how long the expected wait would be so the person can leave or stay

Worst experience as well as worst hospital . i went there for my ultrasound report . i wait there 12 hrs from 7am to 7 pm to just meet the doctor . I asked the receptionist for how much time i have to wait , she said , i don't know . After , spending 11 hrs in hospital , i asked nurse , she talked with me very rudely , she told me , You have to wait , If u don't wanna wait , You are free to leave the hospital . i really feel disrespectful and ashamed . I tried to talk with Nurse, but she ignored me. i came back home without getting a doctor.

EVERY single time I go to this hospital is a MINIMUM 4 Hour wait!! They don’t process people in a timely fashion. I waited 4 hours for a “rapid” COVID test while they sat me in another hallway on hard chairs. I was so sick and my back and neck were so sore I finally just left. No one checks on anyone they just leave you in pain. The nurses are seen laughing and joking and who knows where one single doctor was. They simply don’t care!! Don’t go here unless you’re dying and even then you’re better off going to Cumberland or Pictou.

A child with a serious abscess tooth that is causing her pain, has been re-scheduled 5 times since November. This place is a disorganized joke and I wish I had another option because she is suffering. They put their convenience over her discomfort ????

One of the worst hospitals. You can wait up to three hours just to get triage and that's in the first chair, with no one else in triage at all. And that's not the worst of it. And after you get triaged you could be there for 5 to 7 hours...No joke..The poor lady that was next to me was in tears from the pain and she was there for almost 4 hours and she said there's people that's been ahead of her that's been there for well over 6 hours. This same lady said she was here a month ago and waited over 11 hours to see a doctor. ..About half the people in the waiting room, were there for prescriptions and not an emergency. They're there for prescriptions because, they can't get in to see their family doctor or a walk-in doctor.. Me and my family dislike this hospital, and not because of the service which is bad enough, but because doctor that were on duty each time, had there part totplay in his death. They killed my grandfather. No joke.. I should give names but I won't for it will not bring him back, unless the health authority wants the names and then they can more than have them but I know nothing will get done. Because every hospital is getting bad. They don't have enough doctors to fire the bad ones. I will say this if you have family in the hospital check from time to time what medicines they are getting to make sure it is the correct one, and to make sure that they are actually giving him the medication, for this is what led to my grandfather's death.

Poorest excuse for triage I have ever seen. Arrived at the ER with my mother at 1140. The sign on the door says “ when you arrive in the Emergency Department, the triage nurse will assign you to one of 5 levels of care using national guidelines.” This should be rewritten to reflect what it really is . Triage means assigning a number to reflect acuity of the patient. It does not mean doing the treatment for the patient in the triage room before seeing the next patient. We were finally taken into the triage room at 1230. This was after I went into the dept. itself and spoke my piece regarding this disgraceful level of non care. The five people languishing at the desk ,of course, took exception to this and had security escort me out. This did nothing to hasten things along. After a three hour wait, I witnessed another patient arrive. He was clutching his red pillow to his chest , complaining of chest pain. His family spoke to the person at the registration desk. I saw him sit at the end of the triage line for about 8 to 9 minutes and then got up to leave. I asked his wife about it and she said they were taking him to Sackville Hospital because it was obvious they were not going to be looked after in Amherst. I realize that it could be busy in ER. But I also believe it has more to do with the ability, or inability, of the staff to cope with a normal day of work. It is completely inexcusable to have people sitting on triage chairs for more than a couple minutes. Backward hospital, rude people and a doctor who does not know s from p. And apparently does not care.

I was in two days ago for day surgery. I found the medical staff excellent, including the surgeon, the anesthetist, and the several caring nurses who attended to me at various stages. It is no fun to wait three or four hours in ER which I have done on several occasions, but it is the same nearly anywhere. Occasionally, one gets lucky, but our hospitals either don`t have enough doctors to go around, or too few who participate in ER.

I had a major surgery done here and a few other things. I can’t say enough good about this hospital every one who works here is so wonderful and the hospital is just immaculate. Well done housekeeping department you certainly help make this place a wonderful place to be looked after when ill. Dr Sandland is especially wonderful.

Worst experience ever. Walked in the medical unit this morning and my father was siting on display in a wheel chair with a nothing but a diaper half on. I asked one of the staff was he cleaned up this morning. Response was did not know he was not her's 5 staff were sitting at the nursing station at the time which is often the case when I have been there.
