I went into the Emergency Department of the Campbell River Hospital due to a fall where I hit the back of my head. I was suffering a loss of short term memory, lack of concentration and headaches. The hospital staff were wonderful. I was put in a separate room for observation and testing. There were short periods when they were quite busy, but I did not feel abandoned, as they needed the results of the tests I had undergone. I was comfortable and the surroundings were incredibly clean, so I felt safe. After an MRI a warm blanket was put over me and I almost fell asleep. Once all the testing was complete the doctor (after looking over all my tests) let me know all was well, although I did have a concussion. He gave me information on recovery that assured me that my symptoms were common, and I would recover. Thank you hospital staff.

I hobbled into the emergency department early yesterday morning with a very painful kidney stone. The staff were absolutely magnificent! From getting me settled on a bed to administering pain relief, they were quick, comforting and professional. I didn't get the names of the nurses who helped me, but Dr. Leslie was the emerg doc who attended me. Thank you all! Plus I couldn't help but overhear Hospital Security dealing with a patient who was quite loudly upset because he wasn't being released. ( I gather he had been certified under the Mental Health act). They handled it very professionally and respectfully; a challenge under those conditions.

If your of Indigenous and female, I would avoid this hospital all together. They’re letting our women die on the streets from telling them to leave the hospital instead of treating them.

Was refused medication I came in with, was refused treatment, was refused consult with doctor and had security called on me everytime my pain got worse. Came in as an emergency and nurses didn't even check on me. They have made all symptoms worse and if you're waiting on your doctor they assign you, then he leaves town with no concern for you at all. They tell me I'm his patient but he's not even I. The city to deal with someone who is losing feeling in their legs and body. Worse treatment I've ever experienced and I will be taking legal action if I survive.

Came in with a broken wrist. One of many last weekend. The wait was long, but that was to be understood. The doctor who set my wrist and the anesthesiologist were very good at keeping me calm beforehand. I had to return the next day for surgery to pin the bone. Again the ER nurses were attentive, keeping me supplied with pain meds. The surgeon and his team were awesome, explaining everything. The recovery nurses were very nice and funny (even if my surgery kept them up late.) :). Following all the instructions and with the medication, my recovery so far has been tolerable.

The doctors and nurses are great there they are awesome very nice. But the parking staff is just horrible. We were told to park somewhere and this lady wouldn't let us we were waiting to pick someone up from an operation and she was so rude they told us to pull up here and wait she came over and told us to leave at were we we were told to park and was just plain out mean to us we were one out of 4 people in total parking in a space and she came and randomly pickedon us, just bad. The doctors are great infact there so good I just about would chose then over many places across Canada. There were five kids in a car with me and my daughter and she went in to go get her and while we were waiting the staff and nurses told us to park in a handy cap because it would be hard for her to get in normally and we were in the car the whole time and while she was inside 3 other people parked beside us with out a tag and she came and picked on us out of all those people those people didn't even get a ticket.

Went for day surgery. I was nervious. As it's the first time I've been in the hospital for myself. The nurses there are the best. They took very good care of me they are sweet and extremely attentive. I always had a warm blanket and a friendly smile. I count thank them enough????????????

Visited the emergency for severe back problem and everyone I dealt with was very kind and caring My waiting time was short and though I hope not to visit again the experience was not unpleasant because of the great staff on duty.

You will likely be treated as a task more than a being. From emergency administration, they try to let you go out of hospital.

Today, I visited the Campbell River Hospital's Endoscopy Department for the 4th times during the last five years for various testing and procedures. Either I am very lucky to have such a superb hospital team helping and looking after me or this is such a great hospital that all patients are treated with utmost kindness and respect. For today visit to the hospital, I would like to sincerely thank the nurse who recorded all my medical information (I believe her name is Patricia, I hope I am right), the nurse who administered the intravenous saline solution (Maria, she was an expert), the two nurses in the operation room, the anesthetist (Shane) and Dr. Nichol Kimberly. I would like to thank them all from the bottom of my heart for their kindness, respectfulness and above all their expertise. Khalid S. Jasim, Ph.D. Chem.

Great experience. My little one had a cut on his lip that I was worried required glue or stitches or something. Staff very attentive, wait was only 30 mins. My 14 month old was happy with the experience and didn’t cry once. Lip healed nicely and will definitely be back the next time we have an “owwie”.

Wow what service! I called the regular hospital line to find out why my father in law was in emergency. Not only did they transfer me to the emergency department the nice lady got a cordless phone and gave it to him so we could talk! Now that is some serious service! Why to go!!

They need new doctors and proper equipment. For the doctors, They should send someone undercover to see how the staff really acts and assess the pill the doctors are prescribing and perhaps that would aid the growing drug problem in the city. But that's aside from the point. Back to my point; perhaps have the proper doctors on duty. Campbell river is a retirement community to hear they don't have heart monitors and people have to travel all the way to Victoria full treatment that's cruel. I went for heart problems and was told, "the doctor was off for the weekend" and denied care. In fact they like to deny care a lot. Fun fact that's illegal! If they do this to you, request that they put a note on your file that they refused to treat you and why they refused or are unable too preform treatment. Watch how fast they give you that test, If they say they don't have the equipment request that that is also put on your file. This incompetence is pathetic in a semi-retirement community to not offer proper care or resources. From my experience and what I've seen, someone in there is so crooked they'd rather let people die and write prescriptions to profit than actually treat the many problems I've addressed. It's sad to say but I would rather travel to Nanaimo and risk dying on the trip there than go back to this place.

A pleasure to visit this hospital. Great staff treats one as royalty. Was very early for appointment as had to charge ev on Dogwood, five blocks away and rode bicycle to hospital, no ev charge station on site. Also no bike racks so had to secure bike to hand rail. An EV station would also be nice as some South hospitals have on site EV stations. If you are sick, this is a nice place to visit.

This is my third night here, all I have to say is great things. Very accommodating and caring. Great nurses and doctors. Felt in great hands.

I know there is some amazing staff at Emerg but my Grandma was treated horribly. She arrived at the hospital by ambulance because of her heart. Yet, she was left to her own regard for a lot of the time, hardly ever being checked on, the nurse was rude to her, and finally after hours of being in an isolated room my Grandma asked if she could have a bite of food and water. She is 88 years old! When her heart came back down, a nurse just pointed the direction out to her and didn't even offer her a wheelchair! She was so weak she could barely walk and a family member was not allowed to be in there to help her!!So sad to treat an older person like this.

I am very concerned about the emergency department....very poor triaging....rude and non empathetic staff...my husband laid on the dirty emergency floor writhing in pain for three hours before they offered him a bed....the nurse had also lost his chart and so the emerg doctor went on to the next patient...I went out to check my dogs in my car as we had rushed to the hospital and when i came back I was almost tackled to the floor by security....we were there for six hours....we were scared and had never been to an emergency dept before.....finally my husband was admitted into emerg overload......he was sent home two days later....no diagnosis and no pain control .....here we are three months later still waiting for some kind of help......i refuse to ever go to the campbell river hospital again.....,we will always go to nanaimo or even courtenay if we need emergency care again..I would rather die enroute than go through that experience again.....

Had a heart attack arrived by ambulance and I was amazed at how compassionate and the care I received by Doctors and nurses ! My heartfelt thank you to all the staff !

The staff are wonderful & work very hard in difficult situations ... it is just too bad I can’t say the same for some of the drs! Last night I had the worst experience at this hospital ever! I was left in a solitude room for hours where I was only checked on every hour and a half ... I saw the dr twice in 6 hours! I was put in this room as they had no other place to put me but would mobbed me as soon as possible! Like never! The next time I go I will have to be vomiting blood as they don’t believe a word you’re telling them. I expect to be treated with dignity & respect!

The "ambassadors" are a piece of work. My medical is none of their business yet they insist on knowing what you are there for. When I refused to tell them and I knew where I was going and what was required of me they became extremely rude. I believe these so called "ambassadors" are on a power trip. Nurses snd doctors were absolutely awesome.

I am writing to compliment the staff of the Campbell River Hospital during recent care my nephew received in Emergency, Emergency overflow the Telemetry department during the period of January 12-18th. Everyone he dealt with was upbeat, friendly and professional. He presented as a very sick patient and the staff left no stone unturned until they found the cause and quickly provided excellent care which resulted in a great outcome. Thanks everyone!
