Entering the building from the security at the door all the way to my Doctors. Quick polite very great attention to Covid details. No worries going at all.

Painfully torn in giving them this rating. In the dead of winter -35, I had an awful stomach flu. I was checked into urgent care and within an hour I was seen by a doctor. I was so happy that they took every step in seeing that my health was top priority. After an IV and a few other tests, I was sent home with a stool sample kit. Fast forward to the next day and still -35, I went back with my completed stool sample and unfortunately the lab had closed. As it was one day before New Year's I wanted to ensure that my stool was analyzed sooner rather than later as they indicated the possibility of E coli. I was told by the miserable LPN that they would not accept outpatient samples. I then asked her to check me in so I can drop off my stool sample. She refused. Apparently the threat of E coli was not a great enough reason for her to accept my sample as an outpatient, who was a patient no less than 12 hours prior. Amazing level of service by the RN and Doctor, followed by a very poor effort from a spineless personality of the LPN on shift. Cold. Sick. Disgruntled.

Never really had a problem except for when it comes to my anxiety and them trying to "help" by throwing endless names for pills I could be taking but I sadly I've tried most of them and they don't seem to get that I dont want to be dependent on pills for the rest of my life.....

EMERGENCY: I end up on emergency with trombosis as a turist here. I met two doctors, one was good and clever, did not take him 2 hours to take a look at me. The second was horror. I have been taken inside from the waiting room as "express", because of mmy conditions, but it took more than 1 hour waiting for a doctor, he came, told me what I already knew gave me papers for reading about my problem and charged me extra 60$ or so, for 1 minute his time. I smiled at him and asked why the hell I had to pay another 60$ when I paid 700$for emergency? Answer as its extra fee for his time ! no way, thank you for your minute but I am not willing to pay you extra for nothing. The waiting time is unbeliavable, especially if you are in pain or sick. The problem is there is 90% people in the waiting room with cold or flu monday-friday! Why you people cant go to walk in or call your doctor? Emergency is called emergency for some reason. LABORATORY: Not bad service when you booked an appointment otherwise it can take hours. But service itself is fast, not painfull,no bruises after tests.

great hospital. never have to wait long

Ask you to take off a new N95 mask to wear a non medical mask, because it's policy. Empty hospital but long wait times.

Mike

My first time here with a bad slice on my index finger - Last night (11:30) The triage nurse wrapped it temporarily. Then I found out there was a 3.5 hour wait ahead of me - NOT! I went home instead. This is just not acceptable for an emergency clinic. I asked her about public parking in the big lot outside with about 196 of the 200 stalls sitting empty. She replied it is reserved for staff only. In the morning I had to take the wrap off and to prevent sticking and my finger is still bleeding profusely.

The nurses, administration check in, and doctors are so very PATIENT, caring and provide a positive impact for all. They have alot of different situations and various people come in and they do their best to ensure we are cared for and are non discriminatory. Thank you front line workers!

This rating is for the laboratory only. Showed up at my appointment time, early in the morning and not many patients in the wait room but still had to wait more than 25mins. Nurses seem very chilled. Not sure the reasoning but keeping a full bladder and seeing walk-ins get tested before the ones with appointment. If I can book anywhere else, I hope I won't need to return.

I was seen today by Dr Miksa I have never met a Dr like this who spent so much time explaining details of my health problem I was there for. Also the nurses in this department were very caring and understanding.

Giovanni Thomas

The nurses and doctor were very understanding and helpful. The staff were very kind and I have no complaints about anyone that works here. My only complaint has to do with wait times. While I was to believe I would get in within 2 hours as the wait time stated, I ended up waiting 4 hours in the waiting room. I thought once i was in, things would go over quickly. However, it took a while to get blood work results and I got a little irritated after 3 more hours. I should not have left the mess that I did but I was hungry, my phone was dead and I had nothing to help me pass the time. Still doesn't excuse my actions and the staff was still super understanding and kind even though I was visibly upset. If I had known I would have spent my whole evening there, I would have prepared more. But it took several hours longer than expected. I just wish they would stick to their times more so I could prepare myself for a long stay or not. I thought it would be at least less than 4 hours, but I will be more prepared next time as their wait times can be incredibly inaccurate. Again, I respect the staff for doing their best. But they need to work on wait times and have more services available to those who have to wait longer than others. Such as a sanitary place to obtain food and beverage. Possibly a convenient shop that has phone chargers available for purchase. I believe that would help pass the time for those not prepared.

My brother took an ambulance there because he has a broken leg and he was in severe pain. And they made him walk back and didnt give him any pain meds and kept on asking why he was really there ? And didnt give him any service to help him get home the worst place to go if youre in pain they will not help.

Reb MacInnis

Genuinely the nicest hospital in this city. I went here terrified bc i was developing compartment syndrome in my cast after being mistreated at Peter Lougheed. I was so scared and anxious after dealing with the nurses at Peter Lougheed, but the nurses here are so kind and so friendly and accommodating! Thank so so much for giving us a room so my fiance could nap while we waited :)

Graeme Freeman

They left me at the front door writhing in pain. Dr Katherine Billinghurst sent me away when I could not stand or walk with absolutely no medical care. Obviously Dr Billinghurst does not take her hippocratic oath seriously.

Catrina Matheson

The security guards, volunteer chick giving out hand sanitizer and nurses once you’re admitted are absolute saints. I was there for 7 hours with a suspected broken foot and when I felt unsafe to hobble back to my car one of the security guards walked me and waited for me to drive off. As for the the circus in the waiting area... 1 arrest and 3 escorts off the property in the first two hours. In addition to all that, 1 dude yelling at security saying he needs his meds, one refusing to put his shirt on and telling me he could kill anyone, and another massive guy coming in straight with racial slurs... super sad population we got going on downtown... hats off to the staff who clearly deal with that daily. Maybe dont take your kids there lol.

I used to love this clinic. It was nice, new and the wait times were fairly short. I left calgary for 2 years, came back and this place is a mess! First of all, the first floor has been completely taken over by drug addicts. I'm not trying to be rude and I understand that this clinic is located downtown but COME ON. You walk in even at 1 o'clock in the afternoon and there are people clearly strung out, screaming, yelling, throwing themselves on the ground, begging for morphine and Vicodin. The bathroom on the main floor is beyond disgusting and disease ridden. I suggest the one on the 3rd floor if any of them. There are people being brought in by the police constantly, and they will always be seen before you even if you're bleeding from your skull. As a female I don't even feel safe here. And, to top it all off they're putting a "safe injection site" on the first floor. Spend your money on sanitizing the washrooms and getting nurses with more experience. And do not bring children here as I can honestly say it's not safe! I recently had an appointment at the lab on the 3rd floor for prenatal blood work. I expressed my fear of viles, tourniquets etc to the guy who was going to take my blood and he barely spoke English. He kept saying "you sure... you sure... you sure?". I was never offered to lay down, I was not offered any small talk or even a slight distraction to take my mind off of my fears despite feeling very faint and nauseas. I ended up walking out without getting the work done and feeling 1000 times more scared than when I walked in.

Tim R

Extreme lower back/leg pain. Under an hour to see doctor. Discussed options and prescription. Can't say enough about the staff, they were courteous, sympathetic, funny and helpful. Thank you!

taya rickman

Cma is amazing, so is the doctors office on the 5th floor

Sue Blanchard

This hospital is wonderful and has helped me and my family members immensely with a broken bone and other concerns. Please make your underground parking fees less pricey. Street parking around the area is virtually impossible to find.

Been there twice and I left twice. Everybody on staff, chatting nobody helping me and they don't mind abit. Put me in a dirty room with some kinda snork on the bed. REALLY UPSET AT WHAT WE CALL HUMANITY AND THE "WHEN WE GET THERE ATTITUDE.' I will rather anything them go back there ever again.

Is this a place to get help when you need medical attention but if you have an accent and a Muslim name they take no chances to remind you that you’re a second-class citizen.

This hospital is best helper Doctor and Nurse My son was very sick he was here In this hospital Now is much better thank you so much .

Trinity ratzloff

My urgent care doctor literally used google to “diagnose” said it could be my medication. Didnt do anything else. Didn’t even look at me, and sent me home.

ZoEy Gerbrandt

I will always love this place as a Calgary person if I had to pick a hospti to go to I would always pick this one I don't care if I wite the staff is very friendly the doctors help you when you need help the nurse help you the safty of the problem they make sure everyone is safe if this place ever closed I would tie myself to the entire building to keep it standing and to keep it and staff there forever

D.A.J.

Very helpful friendly staff.

A R

Decent facility, well maintained and good doctors. Currently they do not have an ultrasound diagnosis facility and for some reason medicenters aren't aware of this. AHS needs to ensure that there are systems that allow for better communication and resource tracking to ensure less wasteful time and overall better care for patents in emergency.

Jonathan Nash

Clean, central, downtown location, well trained and experienced Emergency Dept staff. Usually a 2 or 3 hour wait ( pre Co-Vid) SAC Clinic, Organized and fast lab for blood work on 3rd floor where you can either pre-book or walk in. Usually a walk in won't take longer than 20 minutes as long as you have Ab Healthcare or another photo ID. STI clinic, vaccinations for travel, Good Earth Cafe on main level.

Rose Amand

The lab is very efficient and quick! Great and professional staff.

wait times are a little redicoulous. but the care is great. the nurses are great and the doctor i had was very understanding. certinley better then airdrie urgent care.

The doctor who treated me could not even give the proper medication for pink eye. How an you expect them to find anything else wrong with you? Said 20 mins to see doctor and was in there for 3 hours to get aspirin and cough syrup. Total incompetence . To the doctor...you have left me with a curable condition and in physical discomfort. A first year med student could have gotten this one right. Remove yourself from the profession before yu seriously harm someone through your incompetence.

I was really upset as I keep finding needles at the building I clean castello with my company glass castle services and I went in and was upset with security and flustered. I didn’t realize that they give out needles like candy so they can take them onto The streets and discard them wherever they want. There was a different area was supposed to go to to ask more questions but when I left flustered the security guards did come back and offered me some great suggestions on who to call and what to do regarding this and save issue in the neighbourhood regarding the needles all around the buildings that being said I was really impressed with their service and all the things that the security company does to help keep our neighbourhood safe and clean the best of their ability

This place is actually a safe consumption site/ hospital, needle handouts at the emergency doors, they walk around and use, and more than likely come back, I imagine they deal with the worst of that stuff, I haven't visited any other hospitals, but because of this I just can't recommend it to anyone I know, they seem to be so prepared for drug induced issues that they are so stressed out to deal with things properly, my heart is out to everyone who operates in that facility, you guys save live all day everyday, and all lives are important

Absolutely garbage. Had the driving assessment therapist self diagnose me with “mild dementia” after doing 0 tests for the illness. Because of this self diagnosis I had my drivers license suspended indefinitely the day before I moved 2000km to Ontario which I told the therapist about. A year later and I have finally discredited everything that therapist had to say to the government. The facility is nice and clean but the staff is arrogant, selfish, and judgemental. I’d rather bleed in the streets than go back to this place. ABSOLUTELY GARBAGE!

Samantha

I went to the travel clinic here. Some of the nurses seemed to just want us in and out instead of walking us through the procedure. They may perform these tasks daily but as a newcomer the procedures are not always transparent to us.

Dr. AAM -

I'm glad I visited this facility

Tony

Had to wait 5 hours just to get ignored and be seated for another hour by the doctor. Understaffed and slow. Much better off to go to different clinics that are faster. Never thought of going private over public until now

Nicole Delaine

Relatively quick for an ER/UC! I waited about 1.5 hours and was then seen by a Resident Dr followed by Dr Klassen (incredible doctor with great bedside manners, and so funny). Got me on my way with my problems solved quickly.

Pregnant woman with blurred vision, light headed and chest pain so the nurses tell me I should just "take Tylenol and deal with it, you're pregnant if you didn't expect this you probably aren't ready" thanks ... From a former nurse who USED TO WORK HERE ... Shame. Gone down hill and definitely never coming back. Drs are good but overworked, actually listened to my lungs and said I have bronchitis... Glad I "took Tylenol" and "dealt with it"

Niki

The entrance I went to was closed and I had to walk to the other side of the building but atleast they indicated that on the doors. I went to the diagnostics third floor. Didnt have to wait in any lines and they took me 10 mins before my scheduled appointment. All of the staff were really friendly, the nurse who took my blood was even keeping up a conversation with me to distract me because I was stressed.

This is a review of the Adolescent Day Treatment Program located in Calgary Alberta. Never have I ever had a more intrusive, corrupt, and manipulative staff take care of my family and I when we needed it most. Parents please be careful about placing your children in the care of this program. The staff lies to the parents about what truly goes on in the program and is very pushy and boundary crossing when it comes to treatment. You or your family or anyone's family should never have to put up with such controlling, manipulative staff period. If I could I would give this program a 0 out of 100 because it honestly was so terrible. I've known many other's who have went through the program as well whose life has gotten significantly worse since leaving. Dear AHS, Please strongly consider placing someone with a camera undercover as a youth in this program, who isn't automatically complacent or questions the staff about treatments. It is unacceptable that I or anyone else was subject to such emotional abuse, and torment while in the care of these "professionals". Oh, and having your staff smash through bathroom doors with no reasonable cause is absolutely abusive and not tolerable. Hated this service, please please, please, be careful when sending your child here there are WAY better places to receive help and this is not one of them.

I had need to use this urgent care facility a few days ago, after having a accident. I checked online to see the wait times, even though I didn't have much choice as I needed to be checked out. The facility was easy to locate, but finding the main entrance was a bit harder, we did find it though. The facility was very clean. My wait for phase 1, was about 5 minutes, similar time for phase 2. At which time I was taken in the back. I had my x-rays, saw the doctor, and had treatment, all within < 1 hour. Doctor was very efficient in addressing my problems and getting them resolved. No complaints at all with this place.

Morgan Kushniryk

Very good hospital, staff is friendly, facility is clean.

Jerad Johnson

Pretty unethical doctor today. I had six seizures last night and he told me I probably just have muscle spasms and anxiety about it when I fall asleep. I'm sorry, but your getting paid a lot of money to waste my time and put my health at risk. Instead of screening me, he told me it was this and the rest was in my head. A generalized seizure is like not what most people experience. Google a partial, or even a mini. It's like exact, and totally still not okay. I kept glaring at them in disbelief, and they thought I was demented or something. No, I'm not, I'm just shocked and sad that there wasn't any screening or explanations. Like use your words and social skills if your not sure. Or even a discharge plan with a requisition for more tests. They just wanted to get rid of me. Just because someone has a mental illness on their file does not mean everything is an anxiety attack, it's grotesque that this still happens in 2021. I don't experience anxiety attacks like that and never have. I look forward to doing a foip so that I can educate the staff with a complaint later. This is not hard stuff. I wasted an Uber round trip for this and I'm on AISH. The doctor's name was Grant Kaiser-as listed by the lab records requested by on the Alberta health records website.

Went to see our family doctor this morning. As I approach the reception desks at the 8F I noticed that the woman in the middle cubicle has a sarcasm on her face. She asked what I came for, I gave all the Infos and she said go to module 2, I said thank you and I heard her say "STUPID FILIPINOS" and I look back and said you're stupid too!! So rude!! If you can't be polite and professional at work then leave!! Why so racist when this is not even your own country too!!!

Took a friend in for serious chest pain, fatigue, nausea and numbness in the hands and face. They didn't run any tests as far as we know and they sent us back home with nothing to go off of. Not to mention the very odd behavior and practice of a male doctor for a female patient.

I was just here @ urgent care for a serious Flu that was not part of the yearly vaccine. I showed up around 3am on Sunday morning. Before anyone criticizes this place, as it seems that a lot of people tend to do, remember how much of a challenge it is running a safeworks site and a central downtown hospital. We must be patient with our health care workers as they are on the front lines of our communities war on drugs, addictions, mental health, and domestic abuse. Appreciate them as they give so much of themselves every day, for long hours, only to go home and have to give more of themselves to their partners, children, and friends. Now, for my review. Everyone here is so friendly and caring. From the triage nurse, to the person who checked me in, to the nurse who saw me before the doctor, to the doctor. While I was there they had an incident with a man yelling and swearing, in response they were calm, collected, and de-escalated the situation. Their patience was admirable and I respected them for being that calm and still trying to help in the face of an extremely aggressive person who was in a bad situation. (I believe It may have taken me an hour or 2 to see a doctor but once I did I was taken care of extremely well, treated well, and they were extremely attentive. I respect everything this place does, including the safeworks site. We need to bring back the crack pipe exchange, don't let anyone take this away from your community. We've had enough NIMBY bs happening recently by people who don't understand drug addictions. Support your local communities everyone, and have patience, everyone is working hard.

I went to the travel clinic to get some vaccinations before going on vacation in Asia. They were able to fit me in on the same day I called to make an appointment. The nurse that gave us the vaccinations was nice and everything went really smoothly!

JeanThePants “JeanThePants”

Any time you go I to a clinic won't a foot injury I feel like you have a LONG wait .. today I was lucky that there weren't that many people here but really that all of thr staff that assisted me from the moment I walked in were total rock stars.

Busy, professional

Came in to the lab on Friday afternoon after having some pregnancy pain. I came as a walk in directly from my maternity clinic, there was almost no waiting time, staff was friendly and it was completely different experience than I previously had in Gulf lab. Definitely coming back.

Bogart Humphrey

AMAZING STAFF!!!! I regret not remembering the 2 wonderful nurses, and doctors who helped me last night. I had an, "incident" at the dog park. The wait was average...as to be expected. Got there at 6pm...gone by midnight. Lots of tests done. Thank you to the nurse (hope you all read this) who brought me.some cookies cheese and juice as there was lots to help me with. Great place to go in an emergency....despite patients being grumpy....they kept their humour and smiles. Great job ladies....thanks for caring as you do. Calgary is lucky to have you all

J (therealnunzo)

Went to the urgent care unit because i was extremely ill. I hadn't eaten for approx. 7 days and I was experiencing a lot of pain and I fainted/blacked out twice prior to arriving at the clinic. The nurses and staff were great but the doctor assigned to me did not care about my well being. Right when she walked in the door the first thing she said was "you have a family doctor right? so what do you want us to do that they cant?". It seems that she thought my condition wasn't severe enough for her unit and she recommended i see a family doctor. I told her that I havent eaten in 7 days and in the past 24 hours I blacked out and fell, injuring myself but she still insisted that i see a family doctor. She didn't even want to do any sort of exam or run any testing, she just wanted me to leave and not have to deal with my issues. Just an overall horrible experience that makes you feel hopeless when you leave. Definitely not appropriate to make sick patients feel this way so this doctor should be ashamed of herself

Michael Romanycia

Dara Dueck

Must indicate that the Urgent Care section is very compassionate, caring and effective. I do recommend them. But, worth mentioning is that a doctor I was assigned to in this clinic for about 16 months made a scene and stormed out of his office when he couldn't force my will to comply with what I perceived as not the best route for me. Had I stayed, he would have called Security to gang up on me. Also, his nurse resorted to raising her voice at me, treating me as a child and telling me I needed to sit for 10 minutes in the lobby and re-examine my decision. It was cruelty. Also, his nurse resorted to loudly and nosily discussing my personal file in the main lobby with by-standers all around it. Breach of Confidentiality. Did not respect my rights as a human being. The nurse resorted to trying to dig up dirt on me and was harassing me over the phone. Her information was assumptive and based on lies and she proved that she didn't have my best interests in mind. Very unprofessional. Run away as as fast as possible. Do your own research and find other professionals in the community if necessary. There are other disciplines. Also, BEWARE when they coax you into believing it is all FREE. It is not. It is paid for by tax paying citizens. And when not administered with good educated judgment, it causes doctors/specialists to take advantage by making you co-dependent. These doctors and specialists get nearly unlimited around the the world vacations 8 times a year at least, place their children in private schools, get nannies, etc. Medications usually can cause side effects, it can also be unknown territory. Aim for prevention. Look after yourself.

They are the Calgarian's ultimate health center. I would compare them to St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, BC. With the same types of medical emergencies they are accustomed to dealing with.

D

There has to be a dire situation for me to complain about anyone in the medical industry. These people sacrifice so much for this country and they go through such rough times. But the way my wife was treated by the old blonde doctor with fake lips at this hospital was borderline abusive. The bald male white doctor is amazing at this hospital- respectful, personable, and most importantly- interested in the patients well being. We will be submitting an official complaint about this ridiculous treatment my wife received. Disgusting that a person can treat another human being like that. Shame.

Nick Ford

Easily my favourite ER in Calgary. Staff is helpful, it's clean and mostly quiet. We have yet to have a doctor that doesn't genuinely care and do everything they can to help.

Lorraine Abbott

Knowledgable and professional!! We were able to make and change appointments with ease. Very friendly staff.

Darcy Blue

Completely unprofessional service. I asked admissions and urgent care about referring me by a different name then what is legally placed in my birth certificate. I have not been given this grace. The person in admissions who assisted me also continued to pull off there mask to hear me. Why do you need to pull down your mask to hear me? That doesn't logically make sense.

Dolores Wood

Excellent staff that are professional, friendly and have compassion for humans from all walks of life.

I had a very positive experience here! I was admitted in 10 minutes with acute food poisoning and had excellent treatment. I received excellent care from both Doctors and nurses. The lab techs were also great! Best urgent care in the city

Michael Elliott

So far I have been sitting here in emergency in the worst pain I have ever experienced for 2 hours while a massive bacterial infection or a arthritic staph infection is travelling throughout my body, and I have not been looked at or even asked how i am doing.

I hate this place... every time I book an appointment it’s always delayed and one of the lady works here is so rude. I mean what’s the point of booking if you have to wait for 20 mins? And I book my appointment for over a month! People who works here doesn’t care about the patient

Rey Johnson (Sarah)

Great clinic. Very professional. Couldn't be more impressed.

Ryan Muir

Sat in Urgent Care for 4 hours before taken to the back just to wait another 2 hours for the doctor. Awful service. Awful nurses. Rude staff.

Darren Nicholls

Excellent staff in teaching family clinic.

Rachel Powell

My friend went in with a head injury late last night. He was triaged and admitted right away but then the posted wait time to see a doctor was 1 hour 57 minutes. The wait time didn’t change from 1:57 for the 2 hours we sat in the waiting room. We asked the nurses if there was any way we could see a doctor because my friend was experiencing serious concussion symptoms but they just told us “Every patient is important not just you”

I Hernandez

Clean, accessible. Nice people.

Mahsa Nikafkar

Can you imagine the Laboratory threw away your samples before calling you or your doctor?!! They could easily do it because they do not care about patient or patient's problem and time. I will not go there again. Careless staff!!

Tyra Shupe

Stay away!! The staff in the Urgent care unit decided they would gossip about my daughters health concerns resulting in my daughter walking out in tears after the whole unit she was in had also learnt of her ailments. They have NO respect for privacy nor do they have any sense of any of the legislation that surrounds health care privacy.

Liam Turley

The doctors are generally good but the front staff are awful. The staff threatened to withhold medical care and access to the doctors because I wanted a phone appointment instead of an in person appt because of Covid. Now I have to find a new doctor because I'm afraid the staff here won't book me more appts and will make good on their promise to withhold care. I have a medication that needs to be refilled monthly and now I won't be able to get it.

Marley Turner

I went in with a serious GERD flare-up and they treated me like I was trying to con them out of drugs I never asked for. I get that they need their guards up to some extent but GERD is literally on my file and I told them I had it. It was not a new or difficult diagnosis and the experience left me feeling a lot of distrust for this hospital. If you can go to a different hospital, I would recommend that you do.

Wait time was reasonable to get see by the doctor Staff was friendly and the waiting room was clean, given the clientele that frequent. No judgement, it’s just facts based on the location and that there is a safe injection sight. Came in with extreme pain in my ribs, almost to point I thought I would faint. Doctor did x rays and said he had no idea, said I probably have shingles and said “good luck” still in so much pain and didn’t get a real answer, so will go for a second opinion

William Baker

Fast Sunday morning, Respectful and professional treatment. Thank you to the facility and and all staff.

CHENISE

The nurses are really nice! Some of the doctors are great. BUT 1 doctor in particular left such a bad impression that I will never go there again. I waited 2.5 hrs feeling that my head would explode from whatever I had and possibly have - by the way I was told to go back by another doctor. If you are not physically broken DO NOT bother going. Just go to the hospital in that case. I could not believe how condescending, belittling and dismissive this doctor was; telling me in his jeans and cowboy belt buckle that my case is not something an "emergency room" Doctor such as himself would deal with. Dr. Amin did not care AT ALL. I think the busiest part of the city should have way better service. I was prepped by nurses assuring me I'd be taken care of. They told me I would get my blood taken and checked for multiple things. And I wish that they could've taken care of me.

Great service by the Urgent Care Staff, Nurses and Doctors. This was the nearest hospital to me and had to visit them for abdominal pain. The whole staff was welcoming and took great care in treating me. The hospital is not a first come first serve but treat severe issues first, so had to wait a bit. But the wait was worth it. I highly recommend this hospital for anyone for urgent care.

Excellent staff with superb medical training and service. I've been here for routine care and emergency medicine, and am grateful to all who work here for their skill and care.

Incredibly painful wait time! At times as long as 4 freaking hours but the physicians are mostly very helpful.

I am so hurt after visiting urgent care at this health center. First of all, I am more than aware that I could go see my family doctor for checkups. But I have had cancer surgery in the past, so I realized it would be best for me to get some help immediately instead of waiting weeks to get tests and results back from fam doctor. However, the frontline nurse who registered me in was insensitive towards my story and said I should've just gone seen a family doc. She didn't make me feel that I am welcomed in the facility and that I am wasting their time, but I let it go. Then, I met a doctor who tells me what I'm going through is normal and that I am no special person. He noticed I looked anxious (and of course because of all the medical conditions I am going through), and strongly recommended I should go see a counsellor that he knows. I have depression issue and it is very hard for me to be open about, so it took me a lot of courage to accept it and go ahead with a therapy session. Even though I told him that I will seek counselling referals from my family doc later on, the urgent care doctor insisted I should go see one since this counsellor is supposed to be really helpful. So, I went to see the counsellor here only to realize that it was the absolute mistake of my life. For the first time in my life, I decided to open my personal struggles to a "professional," just to hear her say "you should go see an ongoing therapy." That's All she said after a long talk about my life. She is the one who is supposed to encourage me or make me feel connected to her or just do something, but all she told me at the end was she can't comment anything except sending me off to other ongoing therapy sessions, as this session with her is just one day event so whatever she says will not help me anyway. Then why did the doctor tell me to see this counsellor when I told him I could just order therapy referrals form my family doctor? When I begged this counsellor to give me some encouraging words, she just beat around the bush and repeated the same worda that she will just send me off to someone else. I told the doctor about how unsatisfying experience this was for me and of course, he was defending her and telling me she is not supposed to give me a cliche answer which is why she avoided. He also said I am just one of many depressed people and that what I am feeling is actually normal just because he has encountered so many people like this. I'm just one of them as if Im not worth anything. I felt so judged and both the counsellor and the doctor made me feel so stupid. Condescending attidues. I feel so terrible after my visit here that I can't even fall asleep. I think I am scarred for life.

Yes it might get to a four hour wait at times but most times it two hours our less. And hospitals take up four or more almost always when I need them were as this place is fast most times but hey don't believe my so it stays fast for me. But remember all places have there times these we are a growing city.

Sean Simpson

Woah! A urgent health care centre with fast lines, a nice parking lot, friendly staff and doctors that care? This place was amazing!!!

Ben Trig

Absolutely horrible. I went in with my foot in so much pain I could barely walk. Second time this has happened out of nowhere in 3 months, and they told me to come back if I was still having trouble with it. So I do, and they look at it, do xrays and say that there's "nothing wrong with it". Uhh, except for the fact that I can't walk for no reason, right? Nothing wrong with it!? What kind of health care is this? My foot is badly bruised and causing me enough pain to keep me from walking, and they're telling me there's nothing wrong with it? Really putting that med school to work there. The nurses and everyone else were wonderful. Beyond useless doctors. Don't bother if you can avoid it.

Courtney Scott

Dr Clarkson was amazing. She covered everything in great detail and made sure I had all my questions answered. Thomas was amazing, funny and caring. He brought me an ice pack to use while waiting to see the doctor and made my visit seem very personalable and nice. Definitely will be going back here for the future. This facility is very fortunate to have these two professionals working for them.

Soleil Santos

Carl at Urgent Care was amazing!! He was super friendly and professional and helped me with my problem right away. I did not wait very long at all and everyone including the nurse at triage and the admitting staff were very nice and I felt like they really took care of me.

This is not an actual emergency. They dont have the proper equipment or correct diagnosis. Save yourself a cab or EMS fares and go to proper care. I almost died after they discharged me with wrong diagnosis.

I went to this care center in the throws of 2 separate cannabinoid hyperemesis attacks and explicitly told the nurses and doctors over and over what my diagnosis was. They completely ignored me and went on to make their own diagnosis of cyclic vomiting syndrome which is the most common misdiagnosis for my condition. When I explained what I needed for my prescription which is the ONLY drug that works effectively to stop these attacks the doc STILL sent me home with the wrong meds that are for CVS and not CHS. I didn't realize until I went to pick up the prescription and it costed 3x as much and is completely useless to me. I went to a clinic to try to get the meds I need and they wouldn't give them to me until the accessed my file from the hospital. Because of their foolish re-diagnosis after I TOLD THEM REPEATEDLY what was wrong with me, I am still unable to access the drugs I need. My original diagnosis was in BC and they say they cant access that information from a different province. Because it was a one time script I now have to be completely reassessed to get these meds. I cannot believe how I was treated... they did not listen to me at all. At one point they told me it was all in my head. Probably pegged me for some kind of junky EVEN THOUGH the ACTUAL REAL JUNKY in the bed next to me who was demanding repeated doses of ativan had the nurses at her every becon call literally giving her drugs at her request but completely ignoring my cries for help in agony and telling me just to relax and there was nothing they could do for me. 3 times while I was there they gave her the downers she asked them for... gave her all the snacks and blankets she could have possibly wanted... for a hurt wrist while I vomited all over myself in pain. I've never felt so helpless and dismissed :(

Ann Ohn

a BIG SHOUT OUT to Darryl M.N, in Urgent Care... who knew I was frightened yet stuck around and explained everything and definitely understood my fears and showed compassion and professionalism. Thank you Darryl and the amazing Sheldon M. Chumir CentreTeam!!

If I could give a negative review I would! The nurses were the RUDEST people I've ever dealt with and the amount of times they opened and closed the doors to talk to each other while I was in there was outrageous! I could hear them talking about my PRIVATE INFO down the halls by another patient room and then when I asked how much longer the terrible *nurse* said "we don't care if you leave" the "care" they provided left me in tears! So much more to complain about but this was the worst. People kept walking in when THE DOOR SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLOSED in Maine and other patients rooms so you could see people when they were *in private shape* it was GOD AWFUL I'M ACTUALLY ASTOUNDED they should all lose their licensing. Do NOT go here. Hospital would be quicker.

Horrible horrible horrible experience. Staff and doctors are worst. They should not say that in urgent care.. SICKEST patients are seen first, when they don’t care about sickest patients. Last night we went around 10 pm and we went in the room at 1 pm. My wife is pregnant.almost last month left. Terrible back pain, headaches, irritation and itchiness, inevitable and pain level is 8.5 out of 10. First we were in line up for almost 20 mins where there was no one ahead of us. We were waiting to see triage nurse where one person was working at night. After she saw how much in pain she was and even crying, eyes red because of tiredness and back pain like crazy. Can’t sit properly and they put her at last. Just because they think people have been here for four hours. Then don’t say sickest patients are seen first before they say people hav been waiting for too long. I am going to officially complain to AHS. Anyways so we were waiting for 5 mins and was seen by admitting nurse who gave hand identification on wrist. But last who was little old , black hair short just kept laughing because she doesn’t care of her patients but cares about showing jokes from her phone to the security guards and peace officer I believe. And she is talking to her colleagues continuously laughing loud. And when patients are talking they get upset. Anyhow after terribly waiting long nurse comes in checks vitals again and when doctor came in after waiting for such a long time. He asks what are you doing middle of the night. The way he said it it sounded weird. Are you serious... We didn’t come for partying. We came here because my wife was not feeling good at all. Why would we come to the doctor ... COMMON Sense. After waiting for another 45 mins. I told the doctor. what shall we do because of her pain and itchiness.” He said did you understand “ .. almost said like few times... He comes in does a checkup.. and says I can’t do anything or give her any cream because of her itchiness because she is pregnant. We didn’t sleep at all last night. Because we came home late. This is a reflection of our mere experience...Pleas avoid Scheldon shcumir at all costs. Not at all professional......

Got through pretty quickly. Most staff were friendly and helpful. Except for the main nurse who handled me. She was very rude and unempathetic to say the least. After getting to a private room she forced my mother to leave for no reason. After I explained my situation, being in severe pain and hoping to get an ultrasound to see if it was anything serious. She said « I really don’t understand why you’re here » and proceeded to tell me in a patronizing tone that the ultrasound clinics at any hospital shut down by 9PM (we were there after 9PM), which obviously an average person wouldn’t know. Proceeded to give me the cold and pathetic « abuse screening » ive seen and disappear for half an hour and tell me incorrect information regarding the follow up for test results. I understand if someone is having a hard night but seriously if you’re working in a hospital with sick or hurt people you need to have a better attitude then that.

The most useless hospital , the most useless doctors and unnecessary biased waiting times. I was waiting and this guy came after me while he was done with everything and I was still waiting for 2 hours. Anyone going here should go at night because you'd be discharged by morning and the doctor would come last minute to see you. The nurses and the staff have all the time to crack lame jokes then doing their part.

I had Katherine as a nurse. She was so unbelievably nice and kind. She made the experience I was going through much easier and less scary. She wasn’t judgmental, she was comforting, knowledgeable. I doubt she will ever read this. But thank you so much for being so amazing. And the young lady at the front desk is so so so kind as well.

Selena Wai

The doctors working at URGENT CARE were absolutely ridiculous! The lady doctor helping me was horrible and every question my mom and I asked her, she responded with “I don’t know.” I waited 2 hours in the room when there was only one other patient waiting for the doctor. When my mom left the room to take a breather, she saw the doctor, student doctor and nurses just standing around and drinking pop. I had to tell the nurses about my situation 2 times because they didn’t keep the information from the first nurse. The second nurse left with all of the information and told me that she would look it over with the doctor and inform her of my condition. After I told all of the nurses about the pain, hives and swelling in my arm, the student doctor came in. He also asked me the same questions and wrote down the same information. The doctor finally came in after her long break and she came in clueless. She had no idea what was wrong with me and she didn’t even come 3 steps past the door. She examined my arm from a very far distance and told me “that should be normal. That is what happens after a flu shot.” MY ARM WADNT EVEN SWELLING FROM A FLU SHOT. I have already told 2 nurses and her student doctor that my arm was reacting to the pneumo-p vaccine. She clearly didn’t review the information that the nurses and the student doctor had collected prior to walking into my room. She proceeds to put on gloves and aggressively squeezed my swollen, inflamed, sore arm and now my arm is bruising in the areas that she had squeezed. She left the room for 30min and came back with her phone. She searched up the symptoms of the vaccine and told me that my symptoms should all be normal. I asked her if I should call 811 if I have anymore problems that are concerning me. But she told me that 811 would only tell me to go see HER. She proceeded to tell me that 811 “does not have access to the same information as I do.” She literally searched up the potential symptoms on google... EVERYONE has access to that information. Everyone working there had no sympathy nor a sense of kindness. They could have at least faked a smile. I definitely do not recommend this place.

A good hospital, i have been here and few times and the nurses are friendly and doctors are great. Bless King Hashem.

The nurses and doctors at Sheldon Chumir were so wonderful to me. Treated me kindly, with great care and respect. I was overwhelmed by the amazing group of people that did everything they could to figure out my condition and make me comfortable.

We went here with my 6 mo baby to the Urgent care and they were very quick, they addressed our concern well and quickly gave us a referral to a pediatrician. We liked the staff they were sweet to our baby and very professional. The only thing I did not like and that’s why I’m not giving 5 stars is the amount of addicted people that were just coming and going to use the Urgent care restroom. Seemed to me like a bad idea to let people that were most likely going to consume in those restrooms just use them, as the security people unlocked them every 2 min when another addict came rushing in in need to use the restroom. What if I needed to go in there to change my baby’s diaper? What will I find in there?. I didn’t feel neither safe nor well will this. I guess it’s because they have that safe consumption place in the Chumir Centre and now it’s just normal that all the restrooms are occupied by drug addicts. If they are going to do a safe consumption site they should just keep it separate from the other people using the complex as there are babies and children present and I don’t think it’s a good example or hygienic or safe.

Alb Erttt

For the past month I have been coming here with extreme abdominal pain, nonstop puking and blood in my puke. None of the times did they take any tests, no blood work, no ultrasounds, not even an IV for fluids. Every time got told it was just stomach flu. Ended up going to a different hospital and found out my gallbladder needs to be removed and if i didnt get in soon enough could of had some very bad reprucutions for not having it taken care of. They are extremely rude, took me back and put me in a room and didnt check on me FOR 5 HOURS. I was so out of it and dehydrated I fainted when I got sent home with no pain killers, no help and no answers. They literally just put me in a room and left me there. I will NEVER come back here.

I have never had a experience at a hospital that was this good. Less than a 20 minute wait to see a doctor, every staff member I spoke with was unbelievably friendly and respectful. The doctor was great, he was very compassionate and took the time to explain everything he was doing in detail. Can’t remember his name but he was a bald man working night on July 1. Awesome team here!

I came in with stomach flu like symptoms that quickly worsened upon arrival. I was vomiting every few minutes vs just twice in the previous hour. I mentioned it to the nurse at triage and she moved me to the back immediately - even though there were quite a few people ahead of me. So incredibly sweet! The doctor saw me shortly after and the nurses were so quick and kind with treatment. I am pregnant with our first baby so everything seems scary when you're that sick, but the nurses and doctor made me feel so much better. I always have a great experience here, appreciate all the hard work the staff does and will always recommend!

Hardeep Paul

POOR AND EVEN LOWER THAN THAT. This is not hospital and its just sitting area and waiting for doctor more than 3-4 hours..Shocked by their services and request to close this hospital if you can't provide good services.

Wafa Anam

Going to this emergency room decreased my quality of life so much and I honestly wish I could receive an apology or compensation for it. I went in with an ankle injury and the doctors and nurses were both competent and helpful. After having x rays done on the ankle and finding no break, the doctor sent me home telling me to come back if I was still experiencing problems in three weeks. Three weeks later I was still in a great deal of pain and had quite the limp when I walked. I returned to Sheldon and a different doctor saw me. He twisted my ankle in various directions and asked if it caused pain. I replied that it did but he stated that my facial expression did not indicate enough pain for it to be of concern. He then went on to criticize me for resting my ankle post injury and stated that it had healed badly due to disuse (using his own personal story about tearing "every ligament" in his foot and walking immediately afterwards as evidence for his claims). He kept on talking and talking, never asking me any questions or giving me time to interject. This was also my first injury so I eventually felt stupid for thinking that my pain was significant. I was later diagnosed by a family doctor with a fracture, and now a year later with joint and cartilage damage. This doctor made me feel so belittled and an entire year of my life I felt like I was crazy and that the pain was all in my head. I am especially upset because he will never know how poor his judgment is and how bad he is at his profession. Even the resident who was working under him took more care with me and came closer to a correct diagnosis! What a joke, don't go here.

Isabelle Camire

Really would like to thank Dr. Jenkins for referring me to hip and Knee clinic. She did not have to and was surprised to hear from them after short time. This hospital is awesome... everyone from nurses to anyone there really take good care of you and everything done under same roof. Thanks again.... I have a total new knee from last week ????

Oh, the waiting time is ridiculous, 3 hrs outside, 3 hours inside, taken to room and wait andother 2 hrs to see a Dr!!

Lior Blockstein

Had an unforeseen complication after root canal, middle of the night on Friday. From previous experience I knew that I needed IV antibiotics. It could not wait for the morning and nobody in any other hospital would even look at me, because the symptoms were so minor. I've was seen in reasonable time, and I've gotten the needed treatment, everyone were great. In case of emergency, this establishment should be in your phone book.

tih pih (tihić)

Great family doctor, fast lab service, close to downtown and public transit.

Alana Cooper

Wait time is posted on the wall and we got in even less than that. The nurse was very friendly and helpful. Quite a few homeless and druggies show up here. We even had one lady run in yelling "where's the condoms?!"

GuoRong Hao

Service is very good. but, wait time is too long.

One of the most useless health related places in Calgary. You'll get better treatment at any random walk in clinic. I can't believe places like Sheldon chimir urgent care is even legally allowed to operate. Worst doctors andoand nursestnurses in canada.. My mind is still blown this place exists.

Fernanda Nogueira

Nurses and doctor were super attentive. Hospital is clean and well maintained.

Jaquie Simon

Goodtimes

Just a warning if you get seen by a triage nurse name Hillary ( brown hair ) you better run and go somewhere else because this horrible person will let you die and especially if it’s something serious go somewhere else she will put everybody ahead of you before she calls you inside to see a doctor , couple years ago I almost died because of her I went to shuman centre with ruptured appendix and she didn’t think it was serious and made me sit in the waiting room for hours and hours in excruciating pain until I finally left and went to rocky view where they took me in right way and did an emergency surgery , last night again she knew I was in bad pain and decided to put everyone ahead of me , perhaps she is psychotic and gets pleasure out of seeing people suffer , I almost died because of her , I would avoid this horrible horrible place all together .

Mark Conway

Great service - was seen quickly - very kind doctors

Some posters need to realize that this is an "URGENT CARE" facility. Stop your complaining. If you want faster service don't expect your symptoms to be diagnosed thoroughly. Excellent staff that are professional, friendly and have compassion for human beings from all walks of life. I realize that sometimes the wait is a tad long but they truly do prioritize their patients. It may say that there's an i.e. 2 hour wait but they're not fortune tellers and don't know if any patients with more serious symptoms may show up. Unlike Foothills Medical Centre you won't end up dealing with some ornery staff, dropping dead in the waiting room or end up with some sort of superbug.

The staff in front are amazing. God bless you all. The nurses and doctors were excellent each time I've been there. ( Three times in ten years) They are professional, respectful, and caring. In addition, they are fast and efficient at what they do.

Not knowledgeable of what is considered dangerous risk.... Some people should notwait long as it risks their life.

The Kidney Clinic and the PD Clinic staff are absolutely wonderful!! I am not a fan of the safe injection site/Opioid clinics at the hospital. The addicts leave the washrooms very dirty I have seen syringes left in the stalls, people sleeping in the stalls or high. People suffering from chronic diseases shouldn't have to see that!

Chante Downes

Attended for an injury at approx 9:30 am mid week. The staff were wonderful everyone was pleasant, polite , kind, patient and introduced themselves by name. Offered a wheelchair and was maneuvered around expertly. Some possibly drug related chaos in and around the facility was handled quickly and expertly by staff and police. Almost no wait time. Once again wonderfully kind staff.

I had the worst experience here. First off, i went because I wanted xrays or bloodwork to understand why my back was in so much pain, I figured going there would save the painful hassle of walking all over Calgary to get tests done because I was in so much pain. I have chronic pain as it is and felt as though they used that against me but this was legitimated 8 out of 10. I waited 5 hrs to see a doctor, even though the wait time said 2h15. I watched 3 waves of people come and go. I was so uncomfortable. Finally i got seen, the doctor never touched me, told me it was a pulled muscle and he couldn't do anything and told me to see physio at my own expense.... Then sent me home.... It took maybe 10 mins face to face.. I never once asked for any meds for the pain (im already on meds im wasnt there for that). I cried and left and went to my doctor, who did tests and xrays (over 3 days, missing work, waiting at the lab etc) and discovered the messed up issue causing the severe pain, put me on rest and meds and referred me to get shots. I had a serious non life threatening problem, which is exactly what urgent care is for, and they treated me like an addict and didnt help me at all. I'll stick to the PLC next time.

Multiple staff members especially security (overnight) seem to think not wearing masks is okay. You work at hospital it's the law right now to wear one. Don't tell me you have a medical exemption.

Rudolph Williams

I deal with the Kidney Clinic, I found the staff are very professional & courteous. Dr Louis Girrad is kind & understanding. His staff from the nurse (Ariane), the dietitian & other staff I had encountered are very concerned about their patients. Keep up the excellent work.

Long wait. They let a gentlemen the police brought in go before people who were waiting longer including myself. I had a big chunk of glass in my foot, right up through the sneaker, Blood everywhere. I guess triage goes out the window when the cops show up.

Mat Corns

Okay hospital, have only been here once when my appendix burst and they shipped me to South Health Campus... Don't really remember much, other than the staff were really nice and compassionate.

Steve Shain

Wouldn't bother. There are better FASTER facilities in the city. Seems alot of staff here do not enjoy there jobs. Never have i thought of private instead of public before but this experience DEFINITELY has.

Pari Pari

Staff is too good...some doctors are fine but some really baaad! No bedside manners..just reminding that our patient is not the one to be seen in emergency! Esp if the patient is a kid than better go to Alberta Children Hospital..its waaaay better!

Regarding the Travel clinic at the Sheldon Chumir, similar to other negative reviews my nurse consultant was very aggressive and tried to upsell all sorts of 'highly recommended' travel vaccines to me. I work in Health Care and did my research on the CDC website beforehand, so all I wanted was the Yellow Fever vaccine. She charged me a 'consultation fee' to go through my entire vaccination history, then like a used-car mechanic proceeded to offer $hundreds of dollars worth of boosters and exotic tropicals not required for my destination. I gave in to accepting a booster for one which she stated was 'free' and covered by healthcare. When I booked the appointment, the clerk said the consultation fee would be waived if you buy a vaccine on the same day. But when I went to pay for the $167 YFvax, they still charged the $48 consultation fee because 'that was for the first (free) vaccine that she gave you'. Hence why she was so eager to give me something I didn't even want; such a swindler. I am not sure if it is just the one nurse, or if the Clinic Manager enforces these dishonest business practices. I can't imagine for other non-medical people how many unnecessary vaccines they have been sold. Twice I have asked to speak with the Manager and both instances "she is away. But I can have her call you". Still no response a week later.

amanda sheils

Brought my daughter in tonight for severe vomiting nurses were great. Doctor on the other hand was very arrogant and full of himself kinda attitude. And the atmosphere of this whole area was very unpleasant will never step near this place again.

John Kennedy

I just have some complains regarding parking. Staffs were fine. Very difficult to find parking and crazy high rates. There is very few street parkings with crazy hours that you can park and how are you supposed to know how long you will be at the clinic?? I know it’s downtown but I am shocked by the price for underground parking. Guess I’ll go somewhere else in need of medical emergencies. Just so you know, if you’re there for 30 min, it’s $3 but 1 hour I believe it becomes $12 or something. Ridiculous.

Cindy Anderson

As I am sitting in urgent care for 2 hrs had to ask how much longer....got taken back to a room where you couldn't sit on the bed. Not to mention the RUDE male nurse. I could have went to Peter Loughheed and at least had a place to get a coffee....WORST PLACE EVER not to mention the bathroom looked and smelled like a sewer

Best hospital in the province. I was very sick today so came in urgent care ,and they started my treatment quickly. I am feeling much better already thank you.Cherie is the best nurse we have ever met. Thank you so much Cherie ????

Nicole Conley

Terrible. There were bloody gauze pads on the floor and old vomit bins on the chairs in the waiting room. Addicts using up the bathroom and there was only one available at that time. Nobody had a clue as to why the other one wasn't open. Addicts coming in just waiting around, coming in and out like it was their home. Not one of them waited in line or asked for the safe injection supplies. I waited for over 3hrs so I saw it. Then there is the urgent care aspect, one lady didn't have insurance so she paid cash, as she was just visiting from another country, and she was seen before me. I was in excruciating pain and she simply "felt sick". She was in and out in no time. As I got in she was leaving and I heard the doctor tell her she had "a little bit of the flu". Are you kidding me? I'm not a HCP but unbelievable. So she should wait less time because she's paying cash? Is this how Canadian health care works? I thought that's how private insurance works?

Kira Green

The overweight red head handing out colored tickets at check in needs to find a new job where she is not with general public. She is increadibly rude and made me feel very un welcome with my sick toddler

Thomas Sears

Went in for bad wisdom tooth pain. Already have an appointment for consultation and extraction but pain was unbelievable. This place is fantastic. Wait time said roughly 1 1/2 hours I was in and out in 45 minutes. Staff was very polite kind and assisting . Doctors here are great and considering the time of night I went I am generally pleased with the experience and I will return for any of my needs. Thank you all

Faisal Hussain

I went there for the vaccination of my whole family; first visit was good. Second visit i went for my infant son second shot when the nurse opened the family file she found out that my daughter missing one critical vaccine she suggested to get it and also managed to arrange another nurse to give her a shot but the administration and receptionist didn't like the idea of having vaccine without appointment and told me that your daughter came here in 2014 so we cannot able to open her file. A big fat lie on my face; the whole family get vaccinated last december 2017. Well long story short i end up booking another appointment for her. Receptionist was rude when she booked the appointment.

I was never treated with such care and kindness. The best emergency experience ever. I was so looked after. They did a through checkup and found my problem. They were so understanding and kind. I praise them. I can't say more of how I appreciated their care. Thank you

Came here for an injury. It was a fairly long wait, but the doctor that helped we was friendly and nice.

Pray you don't ever have to go to this facility. I had a medical condition that prevented me from fully wearing the face mask (ie the medical condition that brought me in); I did my best but the old lady at the front forced me to leave because of "policy" regarding mask coverage. I was more than willing and eager to comply but was not able to because of extreme pain. She made no effort at all to understand my situation or identify a workable solution and instead just forced me to leave. The front staff have more interest in mindlessly enforcing policy than facilitating health services. They will take it on themselves to diagnose ur condition before you even have a chance to register. If you want to be disrespected and receive no healthcare whatsoever then go to Sheldon Chumir urgent care.

Angie Beers

Extremely efficient... doesn't feel like a hospital waiting room. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable nurses and Doctors.

manar Jalal

Good doctor but I have waited for too long , very slow service !

Lorenza Aviso

As of this moment I'm a waiting for almost an hour then a lady walks in and seems so lost ask for the assistance of this lady in the front desk and gave her number another 10 minutes past they called # 44 then this lady stood up as well with another guy and this lady said oh are you number 44 ? Then this lady in front desk said oh its ok we will help you now so I reacted .excuse I am ahead of her in which some people said agreed but this lady in front desk just look at me in other words she just ignore me.question descrimination or what I thought the is number system works .so just be nice to these people in front then ignore the system? They are so fudging unbelievable !!!!

This review is specific for the Travel clinic for Sheldon Chumir Centre. The service at this clinic is shameful and I'm honestly surprised that certain staff members are allowed to work there as their licence should be revoked. I came in to take vaccinations for travel purposes and the nurse giving me the vaccinations tried to 'sell me' other vaccinations and tests that were done on me beforehand and insisted I take them even after being clearly told that these tests were performed on me before. Why would I pay for something out of my own pocket for tests that I had already done. As a person working in the health care field and having some knowledge of basic ethics that must be followed, I found this treatment entirely shocking. It's quite disturbing to see such health care workers taking advantage of patients. Also, after telling this female that I don't want the other vaccines, she appeared clearly irritated and without answering my question further about when the next dose of my specific vaccine needs to be taken, gave me the shot when I wasn't entirely ready for it and had not even agreed to it. Such service is beyond any rating. Patient consent is a basic ethical principle that maybe this female should open an ethics book and read. The treatment is entirely unethical and don't expect anything good from your visit here.

I am forever thankful for this facility. I went there back in February for troubles breathing, got in right away, they did blood work and actually found that I may have been diabetic at that time. I initially went in around 5am, but the doctor that saw me called me back on my personal phone around 11pm that night asking me to return to recheck my sugars. I got diagnosed diabetic shortly after and without his follow up I could have been very sick for much longer. I wish I could remember his name but I am so grateful for the work of the staff and doctors at Sheldon Chumir. Thank you!!

I've ended up here twice in the past month, once from a bad case of food poisoning and the second time with a kidney stone. I can't praise the staff highly enough. I was extremely well taken care of,triaged and seen quickly on both occasions. All of the staff I encountered from the technicians to the nurses and doctors were very kind, professional and comforting. I feel very lucky to have this service so close by knowing the level of care I would receive if needed again.

I went at night and was told it would be a 2 hr wait time so the nurse advised me to go in the morning. I went the next morning but it became an even longer wait time of 3 hours. Just expect super long wait times and don’t have your morning planned if you are going to the urgent care.

Joban Mander

Please dont go and save your time. Not a single reason is good to go here and totally unprofessional and staff is rude and wait times are around 4-5 hours.AVoid going to this worst place for the treatment.

Kaitlyn Morrey

Not helpful at all. I was recommended to call this clinic for travel INFORMATION, not a diagnosis or vaccines just to find out about a disease in the area I am travelling to and they refused to speak to me at all. All I wanted to know was if it was safe to travel there under certain circumstances and they told me I had to make an appointment that could take 3-6 weeks. I leave in one week today and the circumstance popped up today unexpectedly. The rudest person to speak with on the phone. I would just recommend your family doctor rather than this clinic.

Thanks to all ..only issue.was when I was reading and had my mask down..a 3 yr old tattled.on me .if.i was anywhere else being 6 ft apart and seated I would have been ok a joke really. My dr.visit was lengthy..waited 1 hr once I side. Dr Smith is cool. Very detailed. Articulated in his directions.

Great service and good management

Trying to get a strep throat test here was almost like waiting for a heart transplant. Almost impossible, while in the US its a quick test available at Walmarts and similar stores. Guess its the Canadian way of doing things slower and with a lot of difficulty lol. Also do not trust the wait times on the clock. Its never correct.

Went into urgent care for a puck in the head! Wait times were a little long but my nurse (Amanda) was great for keeping company, her and the doctor were professional and kind:) thank you to Frontline workers like you guys in such a trying time ❤

I'll be back to give a review when I'm not as upset and hostile but beyond a simple ailment I would look elsewhere for quality compassionate care. I was either lied to or they were just plain not competent, guess I'll never know. This pertains to the Dept. of Family Medicine.

Victoria Zenarimacphail

I ended up there on a sunday night after an fainting episode following a total knee replacement surgery. I was extremely impressed by the installation (look like a hospital with all necessary equipment) the kindness of all the staff (nurses and doctor) the quality of care they gave me, and also the very short waiting time in lobby.....I did not know of such a place but definitely it is a very good alternative to hospital emergency room.

Got dental work done today, a small spook but overall good experience. The assistants who prepped me were very kind, and understood when I asked them to explain everything they did. Took the usual time to get me x-rayed and numbed (almost 1 hr) but when that was done the dentist had my bad tooth out in less then a minute! (Didn't give me warning for what he was doing, but one of the nurses came to make sure I was okay when she saw what was happening) they numbed me more then enough (better then I can say for other places) so for once I didn't feel any pain. 5 hours later and I am already eating plain spaghetti noodles it came out that clean. Definitely going there for future dental work.

DAVID SHEEN

Incompetent dentist. (Skaria) They will waste your time, charge for ex-rays and then say they can't do the work. They do not provide you a copy of your ex-rays upon request. They refuse to put in temporary fillings for an emergency patient like me. They even falsely stated that my cavity was too large that I require a crown and that they do not do crowns. I then went to a regular dental office where they actually stated the opposite and placed a filling on the tooth. Sheldon Chumir is an unprofessional incompetent dental office. Management is useless for filing a complaint with. Do not waste your time here. Complain to the AHS about this place and try to go elsewhere.

Petia Hristova

Fast, efficient and friendly service at the lab.

Save yourself the trouble and wait in an actual emergency, you probably wait longer but at least you’re not wasting your time. Came around 10pm, waited about and hour to get in which is not bad. Waited another hour to see the nurse, told her my symptoms. Waited another hour to see the doctor who was talking to the nurse outside my room about their weekend plans the whole time and where they enjoy going hiking, skiing, etc. Doctor came in asked the same questions but did not examine me and sent me for X-ray and bloodwork. Waited another hour for results. By this time I was so tired waiting I fell asleep as I’ve been up since 5am. New nurse barges in asked me if I was still in pain. Told her yes and her response was “sure, so much pain that you can fall asleep hey?” Told me doctor would be back soon. Doctor came told me that everything was normal so he’d send me for an ultrasound the next morning, to wait for the nurse to take the IV out and then I could go. Nurse barges back in my room half an hour later and asked me “you going to get out of here or what are you waiting for?” Told her I was waiting for her to take my IV out... she came, ripped out the IV and told me “you better put some pressure on it or it’ll bleed everywhere” and sent me home. Next morning went back after ultrasound and the new doctor said he didn’t know what was wrong so he’s going to make an “educated guess” that I have some sort of infection and prescribed me some antibiotics and sent me home. All that for some antibiotics! Oh, and the whole follow up took place in a waiting area so there was zero privacy at all.

Great staff, decent wait times, clean well maintained facility.

Many people work in this lab but they work super slow and in poor attitude. Even though I have appointment made, I still have to wait more than half an hour, won't go back again. I should rate 0 star but this system let me to do this. Hope they can improve after reading this poor comment.

teartaye

I was told I didn't deserve medical care because I was having a panic attack (which was caused by an unnecessary IV being put in, even though I warned them it would cause me to "lose my mind"). The nurse ignored my distress (and heartrate being over 160bpm) to attempt to discuss unrelated subjects with my support person "until I stopped acting like this." Also stating "there's no point in talking to you" (this took more than an hour, and I was NOT able to "just calm down" or "stop throwing a tantrum" during this time. Repeated insults, and mocking comments, towards my character and behaviour, from the nurse, were unsurprisingly not helpful in calming me down during this time). ER nurses should be trained (NEED to be better trained) to recognize and accommodate a mental health crisis. And I especially expect that to be true at chumir!! They should not be referring to a panic attack as a "tantrum." For the record, I was crying and begging to have the IV removed. I was NOT aggressive or violent. Not that that should actually matter. (Again, recognize and properly treat, not punish, mental health crises!!) I was also in trouble with the doctor for being put in isolation (covid fears) like that was my decision or fault. I am willing to admit this may have been a poorly communicated attempt to reassure me that I didn't have a serious, contagious, illness and/or Covid. Additionally, my concerns about serious medication side effects were ignored. I was re-prescribed and expected to take something I can't tolerate.

This review is specific to the Urgent Care facility at Sheldon Chumir. If you need *URGENT* CARE this is an excellent facility. Patients with relatively less-urgent issues will need to endure the lengthy and fluctuating wait times associated with any urgent care / emergency room. If you can wait to see your doctor or go to a walk in clinic, absolutely do! I was in with my mother last night who suffered a badly compounded Colle's wrist fracture. She was in and out in four hours including wait time, setting procedure, x rays before and after, casting, recovery, retrofitting, and thorough instructions. This could have been much worse considering it was the Sunday night of Family Day weekend. My rating comes from the service and care she received which was the best I've seen in a long time and was a much needed boost in my faith in AHS. Dr. Pavel was very personable, friendly, and thorough. He explained the process of resetting the bone and the medications that would be used with such considerate imagery there was no possibility for anxiety. My mom has had significant allergic reactions to anesthesia before and was worried about an emergency room having the potential to make a mistake, but hardly had to express this before he took a further step to change the original medication order just to be extra cautious. He kept the mood light and had something funny to say every time he came to check in, and ensured he came to say goodbye before we left. Her anaesthesia was perfect from beginning to end with no negative side effects. Dr. Miksa was the most attentive, calm, effective, and caring doctor I have ever encountered in any setting. Despite being obviously busy, his bedside manner was truly phenomenal- he gave us a sense that he genuinely cared about my mom's wellbeing and ongoing comfort. He checked her thoroughly in recovery, was patient with questions, and made adjustments to the cast after an hour, thinking forward to potential discomfort over the next few days. Everything he did was with complete immersion, presence, and caring; I can't say how much this means in an emergency room setting! He wrote detailed notes on the instruction pamphlets for the ortho follow up and explained them all. He also spoke with a gentle sense of responsibility while prescribing medication, which I have *never* seen from any doctor. My mom had asked to see the x-rays while she was in recovery and just as we were leaving he remembered and showed them to us. The nursing team was completely in line with the amazing service of the doctors, both in the unit and at triage. They were caring, attentive, funny, and efficient. They all had immaculate sanitization habits and excellent communication among one another and with us. I can't thank the whole team enough for their amazing service with my mom's urgent care. If you have an URGENT CARE need, they will look after you!

I’m really mixed on this - it’s great to have a clinic close to downtown, but it’s sooo slow. I checked the wait times before going, and it was showing 1.5 hours. I’ve now been here 4.5 hours for a suspected fractured wrist and still haven’t seen a doctor. If they’d told me upfront about the wait, I would have gone elsewhere or come back at another time. Need better transparency in patient care and better communication.

Nikki welke

I started going because of panic attacks and ever since then, even if I’m going for something unrelated to anxiety but I just naturally have it in that moment because I’m sick they don’t take me seriously and just dismiss everything as anxiety when it’s not always anxiety. Last night I went and had to say “please don’t dismiss this as anxiety because it’s not” I went for something to do with my lower right rib cage and waited for hours and all the doctor ended up telling me was advice about birth control and other unrelated things I didn’t go for and just gave me an ultrasound form to figure out my actual problem it’s such a waste of time going there go somewhere else.

J. Miles Jonsson

Just another worthless pit.

Claude brown

Was once a good facility - has gone completely downhill since the opening of the Safe Consumption Site - now the building is surrounded by drug addicts and crime - go elsewhere if you can. Your safety is at stake.

Katherine Moore

We came in early morning for our appointment, and the staff were friendly and quick. Got in and checked up right away, in and out less than 30 minutes.

Shaynah G

The doctors I’ve had here were absolutely terrible. I went in after an accident in extreme pain and couldn’t move my arm. I was given a hard time by the doctors for wearing the sling I had been given by the triage nurse. I was told to go back in a week to do another set of xrays to see if it was broken because they couldn’t tell from the X-ray. I went to another ER that same day where I was told a radiologist had later looked at the X-ray - I ended up having a serious fracture in my elbow. I had gone another instance where I was very sick for 15 weeks and the doctors couldn’t figure out why. I passed out at urgent care and no one had noticed or checked in on me - was told it was probably just a cold (without running tests). The next day, another doctor had sent me for tests where we found out I had walking pneumonia and a severe sinus infection. Moral of the story, if it’s serious - please go anywhere else!

Cat Tricks

Long wait times, treated like a junkie, no parking.. nothing but I am sorry from the staff and nurses while doctors are busy talking about rock climbing and their weekend/upcoming days off. Do you all not understand we as your patients have lives?? I for one work.. hard and honest might I add... and in coming in at the ONLY time I had, was willing to wait the said hour and a half the board said (actually 2 hours until I got into the back) at which point my meter expired. I went out to plug the meter (3 MINUTES LATE!! 3!!!) to find the ONE and only thing the city of Calgary is good at.. giving parking tickets. I plugged the meter again, waited in back being told I was next for over half an hour. ... my meter ran out... at that point I could not wait any longer. Not only can I not afford the ticket I got, I cannot afford another and have to get to my 2nd job IN TRYING TO SURVIVE. So Thank You Sheldon Chumir. Not only did I walk out with ABSOLUTELY NO HELP, still in pain and at a loss as to the root cause, but I am also out an oil change and groceries for the MONTH in order to pay for this ticket. Never again. You can keep your junkies and downtown worker crowd whom have absolutely nothing better to do than sit on their duff all damn day waiting around for some half assed doctor to show his face. Nice touch on the needle station in the waiting room though... adds some real ambiance no?

C. J. Carson

Place has completely fallen off since the injection site was added. The triage que was nothing but junkies with phony conditions looking for an excuse to stay in the warm lobby or they were looking to get supplies, meanwhile my girlfriend had a serious condition and we were forced to wait. The security and triage people knew all the junkies by name and would make comments like "so whats wrong this time?" so you know theyre just playing the system Junkies were passed out all over the waiting room and if they werent passed out they were harassing patients or eachother. The wait took absolutely forever for a serious condition. When we finally got in, the doctor barely did anything and after a 2 minute check just said "come back if it gets worse" When we left, my car had been broken into. For your own safety, avoid this place at all costs

I would like to thank all the staff there at urgent care for being so amazing and treating me with such kindness. You guys provide excellent service. Thank you.

This place is terrible, longest waits I have ever had and they wouldn't give me a perscription for antibiotics even after I couldn't speak for 2 weeks.

Scott Cote

Longest wait for stiches and a concussion!! I saw 3 people with cut fingers go ahead.

Shelley Beldam

Good service by the staff and doctors but the wait time was quite long. Anyway still a good health center if you live near the downtown core like my family.

ISA KAYA

I came in 2am and saw the doctor 8:30am and the doctor did not want to do the all the testing because some would need few days to get the results so he would not be able to follow up...He said I should go to family doctor... I really think no one really cares, they try to give nothing, if not the least amount health care...

Karen Armstrong

I was seen very quickly, and everyone was extremely nice. I'm blown away by how kind the nurses were!
