Vets are expensive...no way around it but I like McKnight Vet for their genuine care of my pet. Friendly warm and caring staff. Priceless to me.

Dr. Ferneyhough is incredible! Thank you so much for taking wonderful care of my cat. We brought her in for what we thought was constipation and she soon discovered she had a very large abscess that was causing her pain instead! She went over the surgery and everything in detail, and was very compassionate when I had to make some tough choices. She called twice to update me with her bloodwork and how everything went afterwards. It took no more than 3 hours from when we went in to when we were able to take her back home. I thought the price was very reasonable for what needed to be done to get her diagnosed and fixed up. The nurses and receptionists were very kind too. Thank you so much everybody for all you've done. My cat is already back to her old self, I don't think shes ever been so happy.

We took our sick Pekingese to McKnight and I have to say I was sceptical at first hearing horror stories about emergency vets. The staff was fast acting, professional and sensitive to our budget. I would have no troubles recommending this amazing emergency facility. Simba is happy and stable. Thank you all soo much!!! - Relieved Dog Owner

Never been in here but I’ve been driving past it for a decade on the way to work and there are nice looking people with nice looking animals.

Been going there for years and always a good experience. My dog Samson knows the vet and doesn't really care to go in the door. They offered an alternate door right into an examinations room that he just walked into with no problem. A bit of trickery. He calmed down from their on. When veterinarian came in she offered treats to get him relaxed and befriend him. She was vary knowledgeable with Samson's eye infection and prescribed antibiotic eye drops for 7 days that did the trick. All staff were vary friendly with Samson as well.

These are the most wonderful and understanding people I have ever met. Our dog passed a few days ago and in the time of shock and stress we decided not to get her paw print to save as a memorial of her life. We called the next day and our dog had been already taken for cremation services. These wonderful people at Mcknight Vet Hospital went out of their way to harass the company that had taken our pet and were able to have her brought back to the vet to have her paw print taken for us. I am eternally greateful for this and I will never forget what this wonderful hospital did for me and my family. Will only be coming to this vet from now on. Thank you again.

Quinn Blythe

I don’t know what all these bad reviews are about. Mcknight was wonderful and helped us through a very difficult time. My puppy ingested something he shouldn’t have and they took great care of him. I couldn’t be happier with the service I received.

Taylor Norrie

I’ve been here a few times and the staff are always so friendly and you can tell they’re passionate about every animal that comes in and are willing to do anything to help. My cat Sigma had to get surgery today, and they were so helpful and kind, and they really just made the whole process easy. If I didn’t live so far, 100% they would be my vet clinic of choice. Thanks again to the lovely staff, you are all fantastic.

I called the McNight vet clinic at 4am last night as my dog had a severe sinus infection. They asked if I could hold and proceeded to forget I was on the line. When I called back, they said the visit could cost up to $400 which was whopping $300 more than the Cochrane Vet clinic charged. In addition the people at the front desk were not nice and were very good at using the "scare tactic". Would not recommend. Cochrane Vet clinic much better!

Mike Burleigh

This place is a joke. They don't allow you even though the front door. We phoned ahead to get prescription for our dog like they recommended. They made me stand outside for 15 minutes before they even unlocked the door to see what I wanted. That might not be so bad if you couldn't see three girls sitting there doing nothing. They had a notice posted saying they are having a closed door policy due to renovations and this was for our safety. I didn't see anyone working on renovations.

Our dog always gets in quickly and had emergency surgery here, with no complications, I haven't experienced anything bad here and the location is convenient. When our dog slit his throat at 9pm, he was in surgery around midnight, like, he wasn't bleeding to death or anything, but he got surgery quickly.

Kellie Farrer

My chihuahua was quite sick and had to be under care in IV overnight. From the onset of his care, the entire team were compassionate, competent and supportive. The vets kept we well informed and did not rush any conversation. Under COVID conditions; this team was truly amazing. Thank you.

Wish I could rate 0 stars. I've been here 3 different occasions(which I will get into) and all have been a complete nightmare, McKnight vet is the absolute worst! 1. Had a 2:30pm appointment for a abdominal ultrasound to confirm pregnancy in my dog. I waited and wasn't helped at until 4:00pm and finally ended up leaving there at 5:00pm.. Never in my life have I EVER had to wait 3 hours for something as simple as an ultrasound. The staff there had told me it would take about 24 hours to get my results back as it was a referral and they were not able to read the scan and had to send it somewhere else for an "expert opinion"- This took over 72 hours and numerous phone calls and in the end I got no test results at all as they had only sent a picture to my other vet and no word report, which is completely useless. They were totally unorganized and had no answers for me. They wasted my time and money, and didn't bother to offer me a re-test like most other professional vets do. I paid for a service that I never received and I had to fight with them to refund me my money back and in the end they wouldn't even reimburse me in full. 2. One of my dogs fractured her leg (went to McKnight as they were the only near by emergency vet on a Sunday), McKnight told me I would have to pay $4000 for a surgery that required sedating my pet and putting a metal plate in her leg as they thought it was broken badly. I went to CARE centre animal hospital for a second opinion, the surgeon there told us it was a minor fracture that only needed to be casted and rested. I saved myself over $3,700! ..Just goes to show how little they know. 3. I brought my 9 month old puppy in who sadly ended up DYING at McKnight vet due to their incompetent staff treating him for something totally unrelated to his actual issue. I paid for a parvo test and even though his test results came back negative, they still chose to treat him for parvo even though it turned out to be a stomach problem which they clearly missed on the xray I also paid for. Till this day I am still angry and heart broken that the money I had spent to keep my puppy there over night and hooked up to IV fluids for the wrong treatment would have been roughly the same cost to have the proper surgery preformed in order to save his life. NEVER EVER AGAIN will I step foot in that place, I've advised my close friends, family and puppy clients not to as well. And to anyone else thinking of bringing their pets here, please STAY AWAY. This place is completely unprofessional with poor service and staff that is so unbelievably unorganized and incompetent. They should not be in practice!

Steve Noel

I heard mixed reviews about this place - I can confidently put that to rest. I've been coming here for three months now with my fur children Jeff and Susan, and really we have had nothing but fantastic experiences. Susan got real sick and they helped us out with proper and timely care. Pricing is fair as this is an emergency vet primarily, but with our experience we chose this to be our primary.

Suhas Apte

Friendly and efficient staff. Take very good care of the pets.

Mikee Ames

The staff here has always been attentive, caring and knowledgeable. They are privately owned and they are not "trained" to over sell unnecessary procedures or medications like some vets. I highly recommend this vet office for your babies.

Gillian Lam-Brown

I bring all my pets here. I used to go to country hills but they botched a simple cat fix surgery and I had to bring my cat to this emergency vet instead. I will always bring my pets to McKnight Vet Hospital now.

April Lima

I have taken my Great Danes here from the time I got them, today (april21) when an emergency accrued with my cat I never hesitated to take him here to be taken care of, even through my tears they were Compassionate and loving. Thank you for taking of Mercy,Brinks and now Blackie Chan

Seva Wieler

My cat was vomiting like mad the other day and finally I had to give in and bring him in. (I had an appointment with another vet, but it was a few days away) The service was excellent, the girl at the counter was very kind and put up with my inane nervous chatter and Dr. Primrose was very nice and professional. Lucky for me my kitty turned out to be ok, just needed a bland diet and water. It was a little expensive, but I did opt to have blood work done just to be safe, and it was the middle of the night. Overall though, a good clinic.

Amy Lin

Our cat passed away last month, and this animal hospital FORGOT to make a paw print as per request after the authorization form was signed and payment was made - a mistake which can NEVER be corrected. We requested to a paw print made as a memory piece we will always have after our beloved cat passed away. We called and followed up last week just to find out that the hospital FORGOT to make it as per request/purchase. The manager of the clinic showed no compassion towards the situation, she didn't apologize, she wouldn't listen to what we had to say and she disregarded our record of payments. She offered to give us a sample pow print of other cat OR just leave the way it is. We are very devastated after losing a family member and now extremely disappointed that we don't get to keep any piece of our cat in the family. McKnight Vet Hospital, we are now speechless and nothing left but tears to this situation. We are all humans with feelings, I cannot believe how we are treated by your manager. Taking the cat there is the biggest mistake of my life.

Joanna Pariseau

Excellent vet and really caring.

Brilliant Best Friends Dog Training

I took my dog there to be checked for having blood in his stool and vomiting. They assumed he was from Mexico and not vaccinated, assumed it was parvo and then even after testing him and it coming up negative for it told me they thought it was that. My dog is not from Mexico and is vaccinated. They then did no other tests and wanted to do x rays. although they told me it was not likely it was an obstruction, so I opted to not do x rays. I came back the next day asking for more tests and asking if we actually can do the x rays, as he got worse and they were nice, and they tested him for giardia and did blood work and x rays. This came back with nothing and ultimately they told me everything is normal except his liver levels. I waited hours the first night, to get low quality service because they were too busy dealing with their crazy day. I came back to give this place the benefit of the doubt and am just as upset as yesterday. they would not take the method of payment I had and were extremely rude. This vet does not take credit over the phone and I do not recommend them, as you may get a nice vet and tech but you may also be condesended too and made to feel that you are a bad dog owner and the staff do NOT know how to handle an upset client in a productive way. They should be outlineing before care is given that they dont accept credit over the phone. I've gone here for years and I will never come back here again.

These people need to get over the pandemic already! I am double vaxxed as are most people! If you are still so worried make vaccine proof a requirement for service! They were of zero help to me yesterday trying to refill a prescription, still making people stand outside, not allowing people in with their pets to see a vet! No thank you, I will take my business elsewhere! Get over yourselves, most restaurants and retail are open stop being so insufferable!

Tys Barnard

Never mind price or anything, the personal experience here is 10 STAR!! we had our doggo that had cancer spread so far we had to put him down, very sad day, the staff was amazing, BUT what makes it better is 2 weeks later we received a letter in the mail, signed by all the staff and that brought me to tears, they really do care about you and you furry friends!!

Carrie Blondahl

Super nice vet and staff. Went there for a minor emergency and they shared the issue with our usual vet, which we really appreciated.

Jessica Cherwick

Very kind staff. Went here for the first time because my bearded dragon was having a problem with his eye. The vet and the staff were all very helpful and kind and I was so relieved they were able to see me as a walk in because finding a vet for a reptile for the day of is extremely difficult. Very thankful.

Laurie Tokarchuk-Hoover

I have been fostering rescue animals and have taken mutiple kittens in for spay/neuter surgeries, casting, splint checks and even took my own cat there when she became ill. I have found that they are very patient focused. They try to book appointments and keep to their appointment times all in the midst of having emergencies come through their doors. I have found all of the vets to be very helpful and attentive to what is best for the patient. I would take my own animals here without hesitation.

Becca

I had to take my dog in for a general checkup and to get his shots. This was the first time having been to this veterinarian office. The front desk staff were very friendly, the prices were super affordable, and the vet was kind and understanding with my dog. She also made sure to take the time to show me each shot as we went, while explaining what it was for and what to look out for in case of a bad reaction. Overall the visit was great, and we had no problems!

Maxinne Sanchez

Brought my dog in today because she was having complications from a recent surgery done for bladder stone removal at another hospital. Dr. Anna Corral is by far the most unprofessional doctor that I have ever spoken to. Firstly, price estimate was around $4k-5k to operate on our dog to fix her bladder if it ruptured. She kept saying “your dog has a higher chance of dying if we don’t operate her now” over and over even after I asked for time to think about it because I wouldn’t be able to afford that much. Dr. Corral also said that if the issue is with her kidneys or ureter then she would be unable to do anything and would have to close her up and wait to refer my dog to a specialist, so why be in such a rush to operate tonight? Secondly, she unprofessionaly spoke about the vet who operated on our dog for the bladder stone removal which I am so appalled and disgusted by. She said that it was “weird” that the previous doctor would let us know of our dog’s bladder potentially rupturing due to the stone’s roughness weakening the bladder in the area it was stitched up. She kept saying that she’s done so many bladder stone removals and it would have never happened in her case, but hearing her talk badly about another doctor and their work is disgusting and it horrifies me to know that a person without regard for other people is working in animal care. The receptionist was very sweet however, but the doctor is definitely a reason we are not coming back to this place.

Aaron Cyr

Great Vet. Super knowledgeable and I felt as tho she truly had my dogs best interest at heart.

Alexandra Ross

The people here are just simply amazing. It is a bit pricey but they are reasonable and so good with my dog who doesn't like anybody. He loves them.

ron pompana

My cat was treat well there. I recommend it

Jess

I came in for an abscess on my cat. She was seen and treated the day of and we had her home by the evening. It was very quick even though it seemed like they were quite busy! I had a great experience, and it’s always nice to know your pet felt comfortable. Thank you to the staff that saw my kitty!

Joelle Orto

They tell you that you can call to check on your pet and you never get to talk to anyone and no one calls you back for 6+ hours. They say your dog is in serious condition but then leave you hanging with no updates. Actually had to go back to the place to talk to someone. Where again I had to wait 45 min. Obviously not staffed to support the need. I'm hoping that the engery was spent on my dog

Rick Lanouette

Vary poor service don't go hear and if you do be prepared to get ripped off these people are money hungry theives that will do just about any procedure possible so that you have to pay for it even tho your pet doesn't necessarily need it please do your research on vets before you go. we made that mistake and got taken for $600.

Kelley Roan

I have not experienced the loss of a pet, my Sadie girl is 6 years old. I know my day will come. When my girl needs medical attention, I will be sure to come to McKnight Vet Hospital. Recently my neighbors dog passed away, 6pm on a Sunday night, while he was in the back of a car. McKnight took us in, with such empathy and care. The hospitality and sense of calm was very nurturing in this time of need and sadness. What really touched my heart, is the mail my neighbor received. A beautiful card with Titan's paw print and a grievance note from every staff member. This touched our heart, shows true character and kindness of the staff and clinic. Thank you for taking such good care of us and the beautiful thoughtful card. Kelley , Glenn & Titan

Erin Hall

Professional and sympathetic. They handled things well with my cat-son.

Carmen Rennie

This is by far the WORST Vet to EVER take your animals to. Not only are the staff members rude and ignorant to their customers, but they treat them TERRIBLE! I work in the customer service industry and if I ever talked to my customers the way these people talked to my family, I'd loose my job in a HEART BEAT! Please don't ever take your animals here.. There are a lot better vets out there that are nicer and more caring. You will NEVER receive any of my family's business again.. I will take my pets to a different vet. And I will be telling the rest of my friends and family not to take their animals here either.. NEVER have I EVER felt so DISRESPECTED in my LIFE!!! If I didn't have to rate it, I wouldn't give ANY stars!!

Bobbie Racette

Called a couple of vets about my small 3 pound dog not eating in a few day, lethargic and nervous seeming - just not himself. Was told by two vets to contact McKnight because they are more of an emergency. Called and lady was nice at first but when I challenged her why it says on Google that it's 24 hour when they're not she got snippy with me. She said they are closed at 5 and couldn't take me in. Her words "well there's lots of vets in the city, call around" Extremely rude and didn't seem to care at all that my dog isn't well.

Amanda Power

About a month ago, we had to take our very sick cat to this clinic for emergency care (he had already been very sick) when he took a very bad turn for the worst - Unfortunately, he had reached a point where nothing could save him without leaving him suffering so we chose to say goodbye to him that night. It was incredibly upsetting to us, as he was our best little buddy, but the staff were compassionate with us and gave us as much time as the could to let us say goodbye without having him suffer and let us stay with him as long as we needed afterwards. One young man even came in and stayed with him when we were ready to go home so that we didn't feel like we were leaving him alone. It was a small gesture, but in that moment, it meant the world to us. The service we received was exceptional. On the worst night of our lives, we felt like our sweet boy was important to them too. And for that, we thank you

Roxanne Nobrega

I took my dog for a late evening walk and out of the corner of my eye, he had picked up what looked like a blue latex glove. As I went to take it out of his mouth, he dodged me and quickly swallowed it! Being late in the evening, I rushed home and called every 24 hour vet in the city. All of them recommended getting him in for induced vomiting but nobody could get him in within the 1-4 hour recommended window of time. McKnight Vet was my last call, and even though they were at their maximum capacity for the night, they agreed to see him right away. They were able to successfully induce vomiting & just as suspected, out came a whole blue rubber glove! Everyone there was very caring and kept me informed of every step of the process. Feeling very thankful that they were able to see him so quickly

Kierra Duggan

They were amazing with my little bunny. He came through his operation just fine and was soon back to his regular chipper self. The price was hard to beat as well. The vet was very knowledgeable and seemed interest in my bunny personally. Would highly recommend.

Aileen Werner

Took my kitten in because he was acting strange and very vocal/in pain. Took him in late night and waited roughly 4 hours. We were updated the whole time, didn’t seem rushed, they were kind and friendly and professional. Always told us the quote for the bill and made sure we knew what was going on constantly. Though it was tough to tell what was wrong with him they were very informative and still treated his pain. When we got home I noticed he was still not doing well and I called them 5 or more times because I was scared. Never did they make me feel unimportant or annoying. Thank you for being so kind and friendly!! (He’s doing better now finally)

Paul G

The staff here were amazing and the vet was very professional and accommodating. Had to put down my loved cat and their compassion made the terrible experience easier. One small criticism is I was requested the paw print memorial option and never received it in the mail but since they were so kind I am not upset about it.

Gillian Butler

Had my very sore little pup Enya there tonight and the care was fantastic. Staff and vet all wonderful! Thank you very much for taking care of my fur baby.

Alicia Cruz

My Saint Bernard had a swollen face and after tests, a biopsy and a surgery she was diagnosed with a terminal cancer. In May 2, Lola got really bad and had to euthanize her. The staff and everyone at the clinic were helpful, supporting and accommodating me and Lola. I have to thank you for being straightforward with me the whole journey. I know because of COVID it is difficult for some luxuries but I gotta give them credit for doing the best in such dire times. Thank you Mcnight Clinic

Suzan McEvoy

I can't thank the clinic staff enough for their warmth and compassion on Sunday when our 13-year-old cat, Bowser, passed away unexpectedly from, what we suspect, a massive heart attack. We called ahead (our own vet is closed on Sundays), explained the situation and brought his body down. They asked me to call when I got there, then admitted me through a private entrance, even though COVID is restricting admission to general clientele. I was able to say goodbye in peace. I wish I'd remembered to get the name of the lovely young lady who walked me through the paperwork, and had a few tears in her own eyes as we chatted. The bed he came in with is going to be cleaned and donated to a rescue which filled my heart even more. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for making such a difficult day a little bit easier.

M'ow & Me

I find the front staff consistently rude and not very friendly. I visited this place every once in a while over the last couple five years and it never changes ... the front staff are not that friendly I would say borderline rude

Adam MacKinnon

McKnight has been our vet for over 2 years now; even after my family moved an extra 30 mins farther drive away we gladly maintained McKnight as our vet. Reason #1 - 24 hour availability! For me i Treat our dog like one of my kids; so having the ability to call the ‘Dr.’ At 2:00AM is a big relief for me! Reason #2 - The Pride of the Vets and Technicians working at McKnight! They all Truely Love animals which is very comforting when you leave your pet for a check up. Rating will go back to 5/5 in a few more months; (McKnight Vet continued to provide the best of service to our dog and family; updated the rating to 5/5!). there was a string of appointment conflicts and scheduling mistakes that were made in a short period of time; I believe it was new staff learning the system. But I wont hold a grudge; few more months of great service-and McKnight goes back to 5+! Note: the staffing/scheduling mishaps were in a 4 week span around Christmas; before and after that McKnight has been Perfect!

Tahnee McLean

Great care from the Doctor when we had to bring in our dog for an emergency illness and stayed for a few days. Unfortunately some of the front end staff were less than professional and it made me feel slightly uncomfortable about leaving my dog there under their care. Multiple front end staff showed disrespect for their colleagues with eye rolling, and trash talking etc. It all worked out in the end and she recovered, but I would probably not go back here.

Alyssa Sloth

Okay one of the worst customer services ever .. and there prices...they quoted me around $4000 for parvo treatment.. so I told them I could never afford that and seen if they could work with me a bit . Or let me do treatment at home and the vet later came out to talk to me and got right sassy and said she would need a deposit of most the $4000 before they would even look at my dog.. ( we were sent here from a vet in airdrie witch was just as bad) long story short she refused to let me do an in home treatment because "they don't do that there". So I called around to other emergency vets and they recommended us not to go there because there pricing . I ended up driving to red deer animal hospital and was given a way better price (almost half that) and the service is 100x better. Red deer is letting me do the treatment at home after giving my dog i.v for 6 hours so he will survive coming home. I do not like vets that are about money not the animals .. thats the bottom line. We are more that capable and able to continue the treatment at home where our boy would be comfortable to keep the cost down and my pooch alive.. Update: my dog is back to his normal self and it was thanks to the red deer animal hospital. Might I add we paid $500 for my treatment in red deer...

Jennifer Murray

They housed my escape con artist cat for a night, very respectful. I appreciate their care towards her.

nicol

I took my mini American Eskimo there a couple of years ago when he wouldn't eat and his gums started bleeding. After many tests, two overnight stays and $1200, they still didn't know what was wrong with him and suggested we PUT HIM DOWN. I decided to take him home, as his symptoms seemed to have paused. After paying close attention to him at home and feeding him (because I don't think they fed him at all), he fully recovered and he's now 12 years old and healthy.

Marie-Christine

Took my 2 ferrets in for a check up. Vet seemed very knowledgeable.

Donna Grimsley

Had to take my cat in as she was sick. They take good care of your animal and they respect the emotional impact your experiencing and the staff are kind. Open 24 hours and you can just walk in. I left my regular vet for this place and will continue to bring my animals to McKnight.

Navia Jewel

We would like to thank Dr. Martinez for taking such good care of our one year old kitty. We brought her in not knowing what happened to her, she was vomiting, dehydrated, borderline hypothermic and in a lot of pain. He was very thorough and explained exactly what our options were, along with the possible outcomes. He answered all our questions in a kind and compassionate manner. Our kitty had exploratory surgery, and it was discovered that she had swallowed a shoelace. A big thanks to the surgeon as well, he was also very kind and phoned me right away to tell me how the surgery went and explained everything clearly. The front end staff and vet techs were great at answering all our phone calls and questions during this stressful time. Overall good experience, especially since our fur baby is recovering well! I feel like the prices are higher than other vets, but we have no complaints about the staff or service. We are very thankful that our cat was taken care of by such a great team!

Jennifer Grimwood

Great attentive care for our pup. phone call service helpful. Vets follows up to make sure all is ok.

Jerricka Jewel

If I could rate 0 stars I would. I’m so heart broken. Our little kitten Bergie got hurt yesterday and we needed an emergency vet that was open on the holiday. My mom was a mess and they would not tell her what was wrong until she paid them 1000 dollars to keep her there for the night and then made my mom feel bad when she wanted to pick her up and take her to our vet today. They also told kept changing the story with what was wrong with her didn’t call my mom when they said they would with updates and when we got to our vet we found out that they completely misdiagnosed our poor baby. They will say whatever they want to drain every last penny out of pet owners using their love for their pets as leverage. Absolutely horrendous. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

Fuyu

Great customer service! I went here due to an incident with my rabbit. He ate a piece of foam. I called in and the receptionist told me to come in. So I rushed in to get seen by the vet. I even brought in the piece of foam he ate and another one for comparison of how much he swallowed. One of the lovely receptionist was familiar with rabbits and asked to see the pieces. turns out the amount he ate would pass through his stomach! the receptionist, of course, verified it with the nurse. and they agreed my rabbit would be fine. I ended up not needing to see a vet after all! if it wasn't for the helpful receptionist, I would have walked away with unnecessary vet fees and possibly taken time away from another pet that really needed medical help. Thanks again everyone at the McKnight 24 hour veterinarian hospital!

Patricia Boucha

Even my dogs wanna go in when I stop for supplies. Amazing staff!!

Gunter Kleyer

they are compassionate and understanding when it comes to your pet and to yourself I am thankful that

Matthew Walkey

They are kind and caring for all pets. They donated to the U of C veterinary dept on behave of both out cats that recently past away when we had to take them in. They are absolutely amazing.

Jessica Whyte

Amazing staff and very informative...Free dog food for new clients and free 30 day pet insurance!!

Anne Whittaker

BEST vet office ever! The staff is amazing and so very welcoming, we always feel like they are genuinely excited to see Zofia... she feels the love!!! If you have a pet this is the Veterinarian office you need to be going too. Again the reception staff is the best, love you guys!!

Navsharn Brar

great clinic and excellent services, awesome staff, open 24 hours to help lost pets to reunite with their owner, that's a charity they are doing and they deserve great business for this reason. thank you guys for being awesome.

Rebecca Maloney

My fiancé had to bring our puppy here because our regular vet had closed for the day and she was being very strange and throwing up. I was working and he felt very out of the loop of what was going on with her and they wanted to keep her overnight for an extra $1000... but that felt like a money grab. They said she had trapped gas and sent us home with some medications for her. They gave her some fluids and told him she might have a small lump at the injection site. Failed to say that the lump could travel and be large, so when I got home and found a huge lump on her chest I was of course worried and brought her back. They made me feel dumb for being worried and said they told him that when they didn’t. Then the next morning I noticed a random long piece of hair on her tail and that the rest of the tip of her tail had been cut off. I called for an explanation and coincidentally no one knew why that happened. Very weird if you ask me and makes me wonder what happened to her that they had to do that.

Steve

Awesome staff and great doctors. Super helpful and willing to take the time to explain things.

Worst vet clinic ever! Do not bring your pets here if you care at all about them. Shay at the front desk is confrontational and rude! We waited for an hour for a booked appointment. And once the vet actually came in the room, she didn't have a clue what she was doing. Never again! Update! I did contact the clinic because we were charged for an emergency visit which is $94 but I was quoted $69 on the phone when I booked the appointment. Still waiting to hear back from the manager on how we get a refund!

Worst customer service. Don’t believe the first come first serve walk in system. I take my dog after a week of calling to know when is the best time to come for his vaccines. Every time i called before leaving, i had been told the next day or the following. Finally i was okayed for Friday and asked permission from work. Friday morning i called to ask again before leaving and told to come at 10. I went at ten and filled out a form and had been advised there are five people ahead of me and asked to wait in the car. At 12:15 i called to check where i am at the queue, i had been told there are six people ahead of me. It completely did not make sense to me and i had been repeatedly asking how is that making sense and i had been repeatedly told by more than one person the same thing. I wasted my whole morning waiting in front of the clinic to know that the number of people ahead of you would be increasing not decreasing. Finally i had to call different clinic and they gave appointment right away in the same day. I will never try to chase them to get a treatment and waste my valuable time when they send people to see vet by their choice. Btw i had been going for last nine years only because they open 24 hours and Dr Skinner was being always professional vet. Now I understand that he is no longer working at the clinic.

They were helpful with the lost cat we found. They took our information and took the cat into their care.

Julie Labonte

Very clean very hospital with excellent staff. They are also surprisingly affordable and willing to provide information and advice. It is obvious all the staff here are animal lovers. The vet doc and nurses were very professional and gentle. There is a small shop on site with high quality dog and cat food, plus several other healthy animal options.

Bruce

The staff are always very friendly and professional, and our dogs actually go in with tails wagging. They have helped us thru the sad times and made that as comfortable as possible, and then were there with happy faces to welcome a new puppy. The doctors are clear and concise when explaining any procedure as well results of examinations and make sure you understand any options that are available.

We had to bring our cat in suddenly on a Sunday night due to a cut on his tail, and this clinic was the one that was closest to us that was still open. I liked the vet, she was polite and sympathetic. However, I found her pushy (trying to make us buy food from the clinic, definitely trying to squeeze every penny out of us.) We left there with very little instruction on how to treat our cat's cut at home, and we were told that we would have to bring him back to their clinic every 2 days (at $50-$100 a visit) for minimum 6 weeks. It cost us $425 to have the cut cleaned and bandaged, and for some antibiotics. We had no intentions on going back to that clinic, as we have a regular vet who we love, and our animals love as well. On Tuesday, we followed up with our regular vet, and they let us know that we got completely ripped off. The proceedure that they followed was, in our trusted vet's words, completely unnecessary. The antibiotics that we were given were "garbage" and were replaced with new ones. We left our vet with instructions, warning signs, new meds, a cleaning solution, a good look over our loved kitty, and peace of mind... All for $70. If all goes well, we bring him back to our vet in a week, at which time they are going to check his wound for free. So, all in all, I would say that the McKnight clinic is definitely in it for the money. Would I go back again? In an emergency, absolutely. My pets are my family, and I am grateful for a place to bring them when our normal vet is closed. But, I wouldn't be switching vets anytime soon, either.

the staff we called doesn't sound like she cares at all and sounded cold, her questions are just repeatitions of what we just said :(

Gagandeep Khosa

Had to take my dog there in mid night due to sudden onset of bleeding. Both doctors and the staff was very friendly and understanding. My pet dog is perfectly alright now. Thanks

Kyle Maclean

Great service, 24 hour emergency service and reasonable prices.

Nicole McKenna

Update - this has also been emailed to you, no response. I used to believe McKnight was one of the best, I'm not sure what has changed, but the staff and lack of care has gone way downhill. Last night I called in a panic as my dog was in pain. I was put on hold for 10 minutes and then told owners cannot come into the rooms still. It's July 2021, the stampede is currently mask free.. but owners are not allowed in, even with a mask? As a hospital, you would know dogs are more likely to be aggressive in pain. Why would anyone bring their hurt animals here, with the chance there is an incident without the owner present. On top of that, I have emailed multiple times during covid, no response. I have asked about the new 'no appointment' way of doing business, no response. I have been asked to be taken off the paper mailing list, nothing. I have asked for my dogs birthday to be corrected, nothing. Incredibly disappointed with the McKnight team.

Odd

Can be expensive but the staff are all really great and understanding

Leslie Karren

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone at McKnight Veterinary for their kindness and understanding on a very difficult day. I knew there was something wrong with my 16 cat end my regular very didn't have time to see her. Dr Gruffyd looked at her right away even knowing I had limited funds, did an ultrasound on her only to find out she was in congestive heart failure. She was so gentle and kind while sending her over the Rainbow Bridge. She also ensure I could afford to get her paw print in clay done. I just received a condolences card from the whole staff with prints of her tiny paws and this was my first visit to them. THANK YOU for making a very hard decision and action as painless as possible.

Toni Beyersbergen

The staff is all friendly and truly care about the comfort of your pets.

Veronica Duenas

Very nice people got excellent care for my injure cat

Kimberly McKenzie

My pup had surgery in BC and was left with 22 staples that needed removed. I called McKnight hospital and they saw her the next evening. I did have an appointment and despite the hospital being very busy with walk-ins, we were seen within about 45 minutes. The staff was very professional, calm and polite during quite hectic conditions. They removed the staples no issue and didn’t even charge me for this! I will definitely use them in the future. Thank you for being so kind to both me and my girl!

We had to put our beautiful dog Luna down last year in April and we took her in around 7am after giving her the best bucket list a dog could ask for the previous day. The vet that administered the euthanasia medication did not give her enough of it and she struggled to go down for about 8 mins. It was the worst 8 mins of our life. The euthenasia medication is supposed to work within 1 to 2 mins and our girl kept trying to fight it. I will never forget her taking in deep breaths and how her lips went in and out, how her eyes flickered trying and fighting to stay with us. The vet ran out of the room, after seeing she wasn't going down, to get more medication but when she finally came back my girl was finally gone. The vet said something along the lines of, "usually that's enough for a dog that weight I've never had that happen before". I wish and I pray that this doesn't happen to anyone elses dog. They are not pets but family members and to see that struggle tore my heart into a million pieces and I will forever have those final moments engraved in my mind.

Irene Boudreau

The staff are very friendly and caring!

McKnight animal Clinic use to be my vet...this time made me wait for half an hour for an on time appointment and they snapped off and dug in the swab....i screamed at them to get off my dog and took her to a proper vet....she had to be sedated and had the swab removed....which made things worse...since she came from a puppy mill owned by east Indians and an east Indian dug the swab in deeper...but he reassured me that he didn't want to traumatize her any more then she already was....well you failed there....never again....

I was very excited to have a new vet for my kittens. Until I got an email saying they would be walk in only. Even then I was willing to give it a go. Then I called to check wait times 4-6 hours for a vaccine booster is completely unacceptable. I do understand there is medical priority, but I don't have that amount of time to wait for a simple vaccine or annual check up. The alternative they gave is on the other side of town. I hope you guys realize the error of this change. The doctor that took care of the first kitten was excellent. Now I need to find someone new for my newest addition.

My big senior boy went in for emergency surgery and I am so thankfull for the doctor and her wonderful team. They took amazing care of him and were very comforting and professional. 1 1/2 month post surgery and he is doing so well and enjoying life. I am very grateful.

Jackie R

They are always so helpful and look after my fur babies!

Darla Smith

I had to say goodbye to my fur baby of 15 years. Ashley was extremely kind and compassionate. They went above and beyond in helping me through having to put my cat down. They gave me the time I needed to say goodbye and were very caring through the whole ordeal. Amazing staff and service provided here.

Tam Anderson

My puppy stopped eating her food, and I was quite worried about her. The vet that I saw there was quite helpful in explaining dog behaviour and problems associated with not eating ( I am a cat person really who decided on getting a dog). As it turns out, seems my dog was playing me and holding out for something better ( lol I fed her steaks when she wouldn't eat anything else). With a whole half a pantry dedicated to all types of dog food, you cannot fathom the sense of relief one gets when they know their dog is not starving and is not going to die. Yes, I did find that when I phoned around and compared prices, they were a bit more expensive in some things compared to other vets, while being a bit cheaper in other things. For me, the peace of mind of having a vet who has dogs explain things to me was worth the bit extra money it took. Best bet if you are on a budget like me, phone around and ask for prices. For me, I might go to a different vet with cheaper prices for routine things ( deworming, vaccines, etc), but I definitely would go back and pay a little more if I think my cunning little puppy's life is in jeopardy.

Dawn Downey

This vet clinic is truly amazing I called today looking for advise about an issue I’m having with my cat. The lady on the driver home was very sweet and professional and answered all of my questions and concerns and handled my call with a great deal of compassion and care. She told me to call with any question any time and they will always answer for free!! I ended the conversation feeling valued and with all of the answers I needed I really truly appreciate the outstanding telephone service that I received today from this clinic. I would highly recommend them and will be taking all of my fur children here for anything we need in the future ❤️ Thank you so much again you’re all so great ????

My cat was taken in by my mother while I was out of town. He underwent a procedure for a urinary tract blockage. I experienced the following issues with the clinic: 1. They wanted a payment of effectively the full amount of the procedure (I.e. they wanted the full amount of the lower estimate) before they would initiate a life saving procedure. Additionally, I was spoken down to in telling me that it isn't clinic policy to even consider a payment option or a smaller down payment. The down payment was $1,000 or consider euthanizing cat if that wasn't financially feasible. 2. In dealing with organizing my cat's pick up by my mother, the clinic did not call her at all. After several hours, I called back to find out that according to their automated message, they were closed. I had to call another clinic to find my missing cat. Overall, I just ask for communication.

Jordan Daalder

Speachless. I called to take in my pup (on a sunday) who seemed to have ingested something that was making her ill. They booked me in the last available appointment for the day. Took her in and she was diagnosed very quickly. Never have I been in and out of a vet (with a no contact policy), have the problem solved, and leave so satisfied with the price. Thank you very much!!

Devin Henry

In 2013 I brought my 6 year old Bichon mix in for emergency Pyometra surgery. She was on the brink of death. The vet (I sadly cannot remember this angels name) came in after waiting for me to finally able to bring my dog in from another vet's office. The staff were accommodating, sincere and genuine. Fast forward to 2019, and my little girl is still healthy and happy, and I am forever grateful. Thank you again. HIGHLY recommended.

Marilyn B

This place they charge for service arm and leg every time our cat get sick last year cost us over $ 1000 this year we got charge for $2000. If we didn't love our cat that much we would have taken him elsewhere for immediate care but, no choice it was late night!

S Baker

Not the cheapest but you definitely get what you pay for. They have always taken amazing care of my pets. All the staff are nice and very personable. Thank you to their team.

Aisha Khan

I would rate this place zero stars if I could. Absolutely horrible experience. Staff are inconsiderate and harsh toward sensitive situations that people are dealing with regarding there pets. Dr. Ramedios basically tried to blame me stating that I caused trauma to my pet which is what resulted in his injury. What right does she have to make accusations like these? Why would I purposely injure my pet and then bring him to a clinic to be treated. When I asked her specific questions all her answers were I don't know and then she got frustrated and basically told me that she doesn't know and needs to go. Wait, so I paid $200 for someone to tell me they don't know? Absolutely appalled at her lack of proffesionalism. PLEASE PLEASE TAKE YOUR PET ELSEWHERE. Waste of money, waste of time. Go somewhere that they are actually caring and understanding towards your situation.

Gio Ledda

Very accommodating even when things are busy. For emergencies, their pricing is the most reasonable I've encountered in the city.

Jason Armour

We have always had great care for our pets from this vet clinic. The staff is great there too.

Kristine Schultz

The vet was very nice and we didn't have to wait very long to be seen. My only complaint is that I feel like they were holding my dog hostage until I fully paid the bill. Only after I paid they brought her out. Its not like I was planning on not paying but it felt very awkward that I wasn't aloud to see my dog until money exchanged hands

Chelsea C.

I brought my dog here before the holidays knowing something wasn't right. The McKnight Veterinary hospital was quick to see something was wrong. I went to find out my dog has a tumor on his heart, there was fluid building up around his heart because of it. They managed to extend his life and although I can't have him forever, they recognized the problem and gifted me with more time with my baby. This is a fantastic clinic, every time I've been there everyone has been so friendly. They all recognize my pup and take very good care of us. I would definitely recommend this Vet Hospital and like to thank everyone there that has helped my baby live longer, everyday is a blessing with him.

mosa403

We found our pup curled up and injured. Took her to McKnight hospital where they diagnosed her with ingesting marijuana. She was treated for that even tho the test results showed no marijuana. Brought her back 3 times to have her finally in for X-rays. The said she now has IBDD. Which is also false. The dog was injured and we were mistreated and our dog was misdiagnosed twice. Our dog is now a lot better and walking and jumping around. Would not recommend this vet hospital to anyone who cares about their animals and want them to get better. They just mess you around and take your money anyway they can. 0 Stars out of 5 ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Payton Fry

this clinic is very concerned about money. once when we were putting an animal down, the vet was talking about payment WHILE OUR PET WAS BEING EUTHANIZED. not before. not after. DURING THE PROCESS. and other time they gave us food for our sick guinea pig and said he would be fine, but when we got home he couldn't even lift his head up so we had to go back and have him euthanized. they still charged us for the food

Dave Lovell

Front staff not impressed with at all. Had an emergency with a dog bleeding from its mouth do to a tumor. As I walked in they said good morning and said even before to told them my emergency they said the wait is 90 mins. Didn't ask how bad it was. Told them I was coming west of Cochrane. They ended up running the dog into the back after they seen the dog bleeding badly in my truck. They need to ask more questions !!!

T Boz

I just literally walked out of this vet clinic. First off, the staff at the front desk staff seemed completely uninterested in dealing with my dogs emergency. My dog was bleeding on their floor and they were casually talking to a friend at the counter. The vet who "examined" my dog seemed incredibly unsure around my dog and very inexperienced. The "exam" room was so dark, it was literally the same lighting as a massage room. I was also quoted a wait time of up to 6 hours for her to be seen. This place is a joke. What's worse, is that when I told them I didn't want to accept those services based on these complaints, they still charged me $100 for the exam fee. This place should t even be open. Go to Calgary North around the corner if you want proper emergency care for your animal.

RZ T

They are simply awesome, the first time I went to them my little guy was 6 ys old and was very unwell. I had to travel at that time as well. Theh took great care of him and sent me constant updates via phone. Most recently my guy now almost 14 yrs old was ready to passon. They were so compassionate and supportive thru it all. I also want to make mention that I called city wide for pricing and they are one of the most well priced vets. They are honest and do not recommend unnecessary tests just to make a few buck. I Highly recommend this vet clinic the staff and doctors are simply awesome.

Devon Macleod

This place is getting worse with each visit, and taking longer and longer for simple things was great for the first few month but this year we have been two or three times and each time is taking longer longer for simple check up. Took 8 hours today to run two tests and they let him sit for 4 hours without doing anything and were to dumb to call the second number on file when the first one wasn't working. Last time went in for a urine sample said it would be 15 mins took two hours and I called and they said he had been ready for like 40 min and they never called. I think this is the last time I'll be going to this place

Attila Papp

Staff was great and the info provided fornour dam and pups was awsome....unlike the dumbasses in forest lawn

Vicki Niemeyer

Great service from the beginning to the end. Dr. Stacey Henderson was so through and detailed on the phone while updating me on my cat. Very professional and caring staff.????

Cheeky Chonies

Terrible, rude, orthopaedic surgeon’s “desk staff”, who knows zero about procedures. I am having a very stressful emergency with my pet’s broken femur, and I was calling around asking for the surgery prices. As she started to list the prices for me, she wasn’t listening to what I needed, and I told her the prices she was quoting don’t make sense to my particular situation. She started getting highly defensive instead of just answering what I needed to know. She then became aggressively angry and lied to me by refusing to quote me any more prices on the basic surgery, after she saying she had the price list. She was asking me inappropriate questions, having nothing to do with my pet’s needed emergency treatment. The entire time, she sounds like she’s eating food on the phone and is mumbling so bad that I couldn’t understand her and had to keep asking her to repeat herself. She stated yelling at me and hung up on me! How unprofessional to hire someone with a raging temper to be the frontline face of your surgery clinic. Prior to that, I called the clinic, and was put on hold for over 30 minutes, and had to hang up and call again. Terrible customer service.

Maryi Alvarez

Everyone I've met are nice and friendly. They love and care for you animal (a quality that everyone should have working with animals) so I'm really pleased and happy. I definitely feel comfortable putting my trust in them to care for my pet

yasina bhanji

Amazing people. Awesome energy!

Chris Schneider (Schneidz)

Had the best price we could find for a urine analysis for the girlfriend's dog. The only downside was we had to wait 2 hours for the results, instead of the 30-40 minutes we we're told. Overall, still good, friendly service.

Patty Fraser

Hugely inconsistent experiences with some staff being genuine and caring, and one causing stress unnecessarily because of thinly veiled thinky pain. It's a shame as that brings down the rest of the team, as much as it compromises care.

Ash B

i've been going there for three years now. In the begining it was great, great customer service as well as great vets....but something has changed over the years to the point where i wont bring my dog nor will i encourage other to bbring their pets. First the customer service is horrible, when i call i get attitude, like their too busy to talk to me, and second i get the run around and then am forced to come in to get answers, the bill is normal i think, expensive! so if we pay so much can we not ask for better service???anyways im done with this hospital untill they get new staff.id rather pay more for a better experience.

Ryan G

Had to use due to unfortunate circumstances with our family pet, everyone here was outstanding. Truthful, compassionate, professional. I would personally recommend this location to anyone for any pet needs. Thank you again for everything.

Rena Russell

Love them there all so nice and caring...

Breana Bennett

Had a little mishap with one of my kitties trying to cut out a mat. Of course in a panic as soon as I saw a bit of blood I called the vet and drove in from chestermere. The staff was very friendly and considerate... me being distraught and feeling terrible I hurt my fur baby . They had me and kitty in an out within an hour and a half, cleaned her up good, and gave me peace of mind . I don’t think the price was overly excessive/ expensive considering it was at 8 pm on a Saturday. Left with a small cut fixed up properly and medication to help my kitty heal $170 including gst is worth knowing my cat isn’t in pain with an open wound !

James Dobbin

Uhhhh...please go elsewhere. If you love your animal and value your BFF go elsewhere.

Christina Tobias

The vet we saw was amazing. He was very understanding and explained his the diagnosis that he gave my dog with out me having to ask. The next day they called to check in to see how my dog was doing, something that has never happened before. I will be going back forsure. UPDATE: two years later and this is still the best emergency vet. I am so thankful for all the support and dedication from the staff. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Natalia Graff

Good vet place. Veterinarians are frendly

Marlet Bantugan

Thank you Julie for making things right! I really appreciate your help with Milo.

Arlene Seymour

Waited 4 hours to see a vet who couldn't touch our pet because she was so allergic. Didn't help at all and charged us $150

Shanon Palmowski

Every vet I've seen here has been fantastic. Special shoutout to Dr. Stacey Henderson! She took her time to greet my dog and built some trust before launching into her checkup. She took the time to explain things clearly to me, was professional, friendly and competent.

Kelsie Ryan

Almost every time I called they struggled finding my profile, and/or recalling my cat and his case. I have had to explain the situation almost every phone call. My cat had been in and out of that clinic the last month with emergency surgery and post surgical complications- practically every employee there has had their hands on my cat and should have had some memory of him. Every appointment I had with them was WAYYY longer of a wait than it needed to be. At times I would be waiting in the waiting room for atleast an hour, when my cat had a quick 15 min checkup. I even called minutes before walking in to ensure it was not a busy time. This means my overly anxious cat is sitting in a loud kennel for much longer than necessary. The largest issue I have is with the employees. They seem to lack knowledge and are constantly contradicting eachother. Not to mention, they have a lot of attitude. They sent me home with the wrong aftercare sheet, and failed to change the paperwork to my cats name. 2 weeks later I was told it was the wrong sheet and The aftercare instructions that were given to me could be detrimental to my cats healing. This was 2 weeks after already having applied it in my routines. It was a big enough mistake, it could have sent my boy back in with an emergency, in which I would be expected to pay for I’m sure. This clinic is overly busy and everyone is rushed. Because of that they gave me incorrect, potentially fatal (for my cat) advice. This vet clinic is the reason I now refuse to speak to anyone other than than the vet themselves. Ignore all of these 5 star ratings- they are all flukes. This place is just too busy for their own good and they need to get a handle on client relations. If you can’t handle that many clients, don’t accept more, if you need to hire help, do more work to ensure you are hiring well educated people.

Jazmine Findell

This place is amazing. The staff are so friendly. They helped us and our dog out big time!

Jessa Fallon

I want to start this by saying whoever the office assistants are, all 3 who we dealt with were lovely! The only one I know by name is Julie but I appreciate all of your kindness and professionalism. However. I am extremely disappointed in the 2 vets who looked after my 10 week old kitten. I am not a vet so I do not want to make aqusations, but I will say how myself and my family felt. It was extremely frustrating being given constant I don't knows and half truths until you got my moms credit card information for an over night stay and whatever else I am sure you could rack up in one night. I ALSO am extremely upset with the lack of communication between vets. The issue went from "oh she has inner ear damage and chicken bones in her stomach ( which I have trouble believing seeing how she can barely ingest her soft food) to, her not being able to lift her head properly. To oh I am sure she will make a full recovery she is just in so much pain we have been sedating her so she can't eat. THEN when a new Vet takes over maracuously there is an all new issue "as you know there is a issue with her back legs" No. we didn't know. We were then told that she will probably need to stay another night and needed to consult a neurologist refusing to discharge her. as I said before I do not want to make aqusations all I can say is how my family and I felt and we feel like we have been extorted for money we can't actually afford. I am so disappointed. I am aware that pets are a luxury but half truths. Vague responses and withholding information in order to prey on the fear of a worried family is so awful. Not to mention with Covid conditions we were not even able to see our fur baby through all of this. I don't know what your intentions are and I will not claim to, but I feel it is important that whoever needs to know THIS is how you make people feel. I never wanted to believe the rumors and horror stories about emergency vets but your vets behaviours have only validated them.

Michael J. Reed

Very professional veterinarian hospital. Cost effective as well compared to other vet locations we used to visit. Easy to reach and good parking. My dogs are well looked after at each visit. We had a situation where the dosage for one of my dogs was not at the correct level to be effective. The vet listened, understood our concerns and adjusted the dosage to the correct level. My dog is now once again back to her normal self due to this correction.

Trevor Prosser

Edited Feb 2019: We had a really uneven experience in the past with this vet, but our most recent experience was much better, and we're glad we have them a second chance. An immediate plus, they're open 24 hours, and were able to fit us in right away every time. The receptionist have always been very friendly; however the vet techs we spoke with the first time were a bit judgmental, and they did not take the time to explain our options. The second visit, they were very helpful and understanding, so it might have been an off day. On our first visit, our pet required a return visit the next day due to an allergic reaction, and the tone was decidedly frosty, as though they didn't want to admit to the possibility that the reaction was from something they gave him the day before. To be clear, we don't know for sure what he reacted to, so this was not something we were looking to place blame for. We did receive a follow-up phone call to check on our pet's condition every time, which was appreciated.

Madison Leyte

DO NOT GO HERE! I received the WORST service here the other day. The staff here seems tired, burnt out and unhappy - all of them. In addition, I dealt with the manager, Jessica who was possibly the most impolite human being I have ever talked to. She even went on a power trip and told me she is putting a DO NOT SERVICE note on my account after I told her about the poor experience I had and how I was going to write a review about it. That is how your company deals with things? By going on power trips and saying they will apply a do not service to my account instead of addressing my issues? Ridiculous.

Egbert Jager

A little hard sell on the ancillary insurance but the Dr was great and the costs were fair. Still buying my cat food there.

Irene Hammerling

My dog was seen right away and am glad with his treatment.

Nikita Romane

I wouldn't trust them with a goldfish. Absolutely incapable and inadequate in terms of both customer service and services rendered. Had to have our dog visit another vet for a second opinion and a third vet to actually patch up their horrible work. All we needed were stitches and the ones put in here, began to unravel after 4 hours. The dog was already shaved in that area from a surgery earlier this week and they decided to shave her down again, haphazardly, causing insane amounts of clipper burn. They can't even shave a dog, never mind perform an actual surgical procedure on one. They refuse to acknowledge any fault, although their actions and lack of diligence left our dog vulnerable to infection. They have such pride and ego over their work (although I am not sure where they get it from) that they would rather put an animal at risk than fix their mistakes. They're selfish and they completely lack compassion as they are too engulfed with stroking their own egos, definitely not a quality you want in someone who works in animal care. Don't waste your time, emotional energy or money here unless you want to come back with more problems or leave with your animal in a box.

Brad Rippberger

Seems like the best Vet we’ve been to. Very helpful when we brought the cat in with a uti. He’s much better now. Thank you

Built Rite Fence Inc.

Thank you for the card with my little boys foot prints on it Dr Ken I really appreciate that as that meant a lot to me I just wish before you gave him his filial shot you would of let him sleep in my arms for at less 10 to 15 minutes till I know the sleeping needle had full effect. Because the jolt he did had hurt me so bad I just feel he felt that. I so miss my little Eddie he was 12 years old and we never spent a day apart.

Dan Cruickshank

Took my pup in to emergency because he was peeing blood. They took some x-rays, determined he had an infection, and bladder stones but neglected to prescribe any antibiotics because she claimed she didn't know what kind of infection it was, so therefore could not give any medication. Our normal vet was appalled. Turns out you can prescribe a general antibiotic until test results come back and a more specific medication can be prescribed at that time. So my dog went 3 days without any medication. Wait time wasn't bad but staff seem disorganized. Won't go back.

We brought our foster dog in for an initial physical and required pre-spaying review. The physical was superficial and we had to remind the vet to give her shots--that took place in the public lobby. We also pointed out a single broken tooth which we wanted removed during her spaying. When we brought her back we said to just pull that single tooth while doing the spaying. The vet however pushed to do a complete dental review in a subsequent visit--rationale being that it was less risky for the dog as she didn't need to be under as long (not sure how the fact that she had to be under a second time and all that extra revenue earned by McKnight for the additional visit factored into the recommendation!?!?!?). When we picked up our foster dog after her spaying she still had blood and other liquids over her coat. Not impressed. Per the vet's recommendation, about a month later we brought back our foster dog to whom we had grown incredibly close to and truly loved like our own, for her dental work. She never came home. Would the extra few minutes to pull a single tooth have killed her--we will never know. We do KNOW however that she died while in McKnight's hands. The story does not end. She was cremated. A couple weeks later we got the call to pick up the ashes. When we arrived and asked for the ashes after 5-10 minutes later we were told they were not available and that we should come back another time and talk to someone else. Reinforcing that we didn't dream the "ashes ready" call, about another 20 minutes later the ashes were found. The personalized collar and leash we had however left was not found. Describing it in details about 10-15 minutes later they came back with something completely different from what we described. It’s now many months later and never has the leash and collar been found. In summary: a dead dog, extra procedures (to reduce risk?), absolutely terrible customer services, lost personal articles, never an apology, never an explanation, and the feeling that our lovely girl spent the last day of her life alone in a tiny cage without any feelings of love and true care for her life.

This is the only vet I've been able to find in Calgary that doesn't let you leave unless they have done at least something to try and help your animal. They never send you home empty handed, wishing you didn't waste $100 bringing your animal to the vet for nothing. They have AMAZING prices of medication and procedures. An emergency, unscheduled visit it the same cost as a scheduled visit as every other vet I've been to. The vets here actually listen to you and care about what you are telling them. My dogs will always come here from now on :)

S H

The vets are knowledgeable and there is a great variety of medical services available for your pet. Although the most of the staff at the front desk is helpful and friendly, this hasn't been my experience every time.

Tammy Frederick

Dr Remedios is so caring and takes the time to thoroughly explain procedures. All of the staff I interacted with when my puppy needed surgery were excellent.

Branden Arthur

Great and friendly staff. I have had several visits for emergencies. I have found the care and wellbeing of the animals is the number one priority.

Tracy Brennan

This is a 24 surrender site for stray animals. They take them in for the Humane Society, I know most vet clinics do this, but they are extra nice about it.

Rebecca Warner

The fact that your clinic mishandled my friend's cat's ashes (after putting the cat down), then blamed it on a computer error instead of compensating them (as best as you could mind you since it was their family), itput a VERY bad taste in my mouth to ever visit your establishment whenever I am in the area. Please stay away from Ontario, I really don't want that kind of practice here.

Jean Chow

This place is totally more concerned about what's convenient for them and less about what you need. They also are poor at communicating next steps.

Amanda Labonte

I cannot thank the staff at McKnight veterinary hospital enough. I unfortunately had to put my beloved dog of 14 years down after the new year. It truly was the hardest day of my life (my old boy saved me), but thanks to the compassionate, sympathetic staff, they made it all a little easier. Thank you for the wonderful work you all do.

Nick Fuss

The new policy of not allowing owners in the examination room with their pets makes absolutely no sense.

Kelsey Rae Harrison

My old man dog had started limping. I figured him and his little sister were farting around in the back yard and he slipped on ice. It got really bad and he was crying at bed time because of his pain. I tried to ice him but it wasn’t working. I called McKnight vet and they told me to bring him down. I live in the city over so we rushed there to try to get him comfortable again. They were very open and honest about what the issue could be. We went with the first option of medicating him to see if he would relax a bit and get some sleep instead of crying. So far so good. They told us what we needed to watch for incase we had to bring him back for an X-ray so determine if he was worse than expected. They did not push anything on us and as it is almost Christmas they helped us figure out proper options within our budget for that night. I’m sorry he peed on your freshly painted new wall in the back, you were so kind about him and his mommy cries. We appreciate you all so much. He is my best friend and has been since I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and you guys have calmed my nerves more than you know. Thank you for the amazing support.

Jami Guenther

I'm never very impressed when I have to take my pets here. I only do it if they are the only ones open. Their walk-in fee is ridiculous, the waiting times are way too long - if there were lots of people I would understand, but the last time I was there I was there for 2 hours just to get some medication for my dog's ears - and there is one doctor there that is a pill pusher and all doom and gloom. Everything that can go wrong with your dog will so you have to get this surgery and this medication and bring your dog back 5 more times just to be sure. I only take my critters here if I absolutely have to. Most of the time it's not worth the hassle.

Ian Turner

Our sweet little cat passed away at home on a Sunday night and we didn’t know what to do. I called McKnight Vet Hospital, and the person on the phone was very compassionate and explained the process m. We took her in and they treated us so well and were very comforting. A week later we received a card signed by all the staff with her footprints inked in the centre. A very kind and loving gesture that was really appreciated.

My boyfriend and I went in last night to see about a friend's dog who had been brought in after being struck by a car twice and was in critical condition. The receptionist was insistent on having one of the owners there to make a decision on weather on not to put the dog down despite the fact that one of the owners had also been injured and needed to be taken to hospital. The first vet in the room was fairly sympathetic but the woman to follow with the paperwork and the invoice was completely out of line and insensitive to the situation. Fighting with my friends fiancé over the invoice because in the emergency situation no one had the over $400 they were trying to charge for the dogs care, the woman became quite rude after being told multiple times that no one could afford the bill the woman then said something along the line of " Well do you want your dog to just sit back there and just suffer until she dies?" It was basically like she was holding the dogs life hostage until someone forked over the cash before she could be released from her suffering. If someone doesn't have the money, it's not like they can just pull it out of thin air. It was disgusting and I don't feel that the woman dealt with the situation in an appropriate manner and probably shouldn't have further interactions with customers in similar situations. The only redeeming factor of the night was the woman who had been with my friends dog since she had arrived... She managed to elevate some of the financial burden and actually took it upon herself to help pay for some of it. She was very kind and understanding and I would recommend her to anyone, but I will never recommend McKnight 24 Hour Veterinary Hospital to anyone.

K Leo

Great vet, very experienced and caring. The staff are excellent. They carry Royal Cannin brands which my cat likes. And I have taken wounded animals (a crow and a rabbit) to them and they ensured they were given over to the Alberta Wildlife Rescue.

Mark Johncock

I had to say goodbye to my buddy Chester on the morning of the 6th April. The staff were very empathetic to our situation. It was extremely hard to comprehend and deal with having to euthanize Chester, but the team there helped and supported us extremely well. A dog's life is way too short and a human life is way too long.

Shay Phoenix

I had to rush my beloved Maxx in after he collapsed. Of course I couldn't be with him during treatment but the staff and doctor were very responsive and kept me informed every step of the way. Unfortunately, he didn't get a very good prognosis but with Dr. Abby's help we'll keep him comfortable and happy for as long as he decides. Thank you McKnight!!

SMOakes

BAD IDEA! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! My cat had an emergency on Dec 24th, they basically held her ransom for a high price, and I ended up forking over my rent money just to lose her. I left there devastated and confused. Worst Christmas/New Years/Birthday EVER! This visit left an ongoing negative impact on all areas of my life, I cant believe this place is in buisness. Do not believe the 5 star reviews, there's far too many of them to be real. (Like the posts from people who work there). Unless it's the euthanasia reviews, that seems to be their best provided service.

Chris Rush

Took my puppy here that swallowed a big treat, that looked like he had the hiccups. The told me that he needed a X-ray and surjury. Cost thousands, anybody who knows dogs that look like they have the hiccups know that it will eventually go down or they will throw it up. He wasn’t in distress so I said I’ll wait a bit and comeback later if he got worse. So they charged me like 300 to to look at him and put a thermometer in his rear ended. MCKNIGHT VET HOSPITAL ARE A BUNCH OF CROOKS DO NOT GO THERE UNLESS IT IS LIFE OR DEATH, I RECOMEND AIRDRE VET CLINIC

Ricci Gayle David

During this hard time for all of us good thing there’s a veterinary hospital near me. Good service, nice staffs. My dog was having an upset stomach and gave me all the option and information I need for my baby. Thank you guys! Highly recommend this place! ????????‍♀️

Sarah Khan

I was driving down the 4th street when I saw an injured bird laying on the road, surrounded by many scavenger birds. I took the bird into this clinic just to ask where I can take this poor thing. The receptionist was friendly and said they can actually take it in. I filled out a small form and asked if the bird is going to be okay. She said the vet will have a look at it. It was a kind move on their part. I really hope that birdie made it okay...

Dr Eileen has saved my dogs life twice now. She has always been super professional, attentive and made sure that she got the care she needed. Thanks to her, my dog survived being poisoned. The reception team is always wonderful and friendly and I really appreciate the check up calls and being able to call and ask questions any time of day if I need to. The prices are very fair and they are wonderful with my fearful, special needs dog for her emergency needs.

Angela

We rush to this vet hospital due to emergency, our puppy is vomitting and they help us as soon as possible. We waited for hours for them to check our beloved puppy and they make sure to give their proper diagnosis. We are greatful for their help.

Misty Swimmer

My dog was very sick. We took him here and our first visit with Dr Shivani Gupta was horrible. My animal passionate friend called the next day and we got everything straighten out. Saw that very kind Dr. Bruce and she took care of us. We ended up having to put our dog down. They were very sweet and were quick to right the wrong that happened.

Elizah Sanchez

Took my puppy here during a post-surgery (procedure done by another vet at another clinic) emergency around 10pm, receptionist was very kind. Dr. Corral Alonso on the other hand was the opposite. She was extremely rude, especially during a tough time for my family. Gave off the impression of doing her job for the money rather than care for the animals.

Tony Bell

A lot of empathetic staff, proficient and professional. Very reasonable prices for an emergency vet!

Leanne Ellen

I wish I could have scored them 0 stars! I called them and rushed my boxer here after she had eaten 2 cobs of corn (the whole cobs). I know that the cob could get stuck in a dog's intestinal tract and require surgery or worse. I also knew the treatment was to induce vomiting right away before the cob enters the digestive tract. They had us waiting over 20 minutes with no sign of taking Rosie in to see a vet. At this point we called the 4th Street animal clinic who said they would see her right away. We left and rushed her there where we had immediate help. As we were leaving Mcknight animal clinic and I was almost in tears, I explained to the receptionist why we were leaving and how serious this could be, she shrugged and said, "okay bye." That was it, no apologies or statement of why we were left waiting in an emergency situation. I WOULD NEVER TAKE AN ANIMAL HERE IF IT WAS AN EMERGENCY!. They obviously don't see animals as being a member of the family.

Sean M

Amazing hospital and amazing staff! Very compassionate and understanding. Its nice to see how much they truly care about the animals here.

garry b

They were kind and compassionate with the recent passing of one of our dogs. Thank you.

Dylan MacDonald

I was originally not going to write this because it didn't feel productive but. It's eating away at me. Tuesday last week I brought my dog in after he had been attacked by two off leash dogs. Now, it was a quick altercation and he's lucky to be reasonably okay..but, he was bleeding in a few spots upon arrival. This was pointed out to the tech (Who was really nice) when we arrived. In the time he was with them I was called twice. Once by a technician who told me there were absolutely no signs of an attack (he was bleeding?) And that I could skip the actual vet seeing him and not have to pay a fee. Or he could keep waiting and be seen but it would cost. Totally fine with paying in order to have him fully checked out, so he waited. The vet eventually called, said it was all superficial wounds and I could come get him. Cool. That's what I expected but I wanted to document everything for bylaw. So I drive back to get him and when I get there a technician I've not met (perhaps the one who called me) tells me he hasn't been seen yet so I would need to wait. But that he didn't have any wounds at all that they could find. (again, BLEEDING?) I let her know the vet had called me and we discussed his wounds, they had taken photos of the ones they found and could send them to me. She went back to confirm this and then came out with the bill. Thus far it's pretty annoying but. Fine. As long as he's okay, that's what I care about. We're now 4-5 days later and I've since found 3 more wounds they failed to find or document? What the hell did I pay them 100$ for? Truly blown away by the total disregard shown by most of their staff. (Except the very first technician who took him in, she was great) If you value your pet's health, or expect anything to actually get done... perhaps look at other options.

I've been a loyal client to this business for years. In the recent year I have no idea what happened but every encounter is absolutely atrocious. The staff here have zero capacity in any form of customer service. I express an issue or any form of dissatisfaction/concern and I've actually been yelled at not only by reception but by the manager. There is zero communication with clients regarding changes in policy and when I brought this up I'm told oh well that's the way it is now, no form of apology or respect for my business. Theres absolutely no reason to go to this clinic, care is mediocre, customer service is the worst I've experienced (there were a couple fantastic staff members who really cared but I haven't seen them in months which speaks volumes) and pricing is nothing special many other clinics with better service charge the same. I'm absolutely tired of supporting a business who couldn't care less.

D

Please get another opinion before allowing this clinic to treat your pet! It is unbelievable. My dog needed a tooth pulled and I was told it would be $1200 to $2400!! I instead got it done at Brentwood Vet Clinic for almost half of their lowest estimate. When I stated to McKnight their estimate was ridiculous and I couldn't possibly afford even $1,200, one of the staff said "no offense but if you can't afford to take proper care of your dog maybe you should rehome him". Clearly I would not EVER take any other pet here again. *I have to add this was a couple years ago so I don't know if the same vets/staff work there but I was there with a friend a few weeks ago to enquire regarding something for her dog's diet and was told by a vet with an accent that it doesn't matter how many carbs are in a dog's food because their digestion is different than humans so it can't lead to diabetes....ridiculous! Then why is there low carb food for diabetic dogs??? And they sell it there.

Allicia Ensor

I was impressed regarding the cost for the spay of my two dogs. The contact post surgery and the in patient and out patient support was really awesome. I appreciate all of the assistance given and time spent to ensure my needs were met.

Warren Colins

Very friendly Compassionate staff always eager to help in any way even if its something they cant do and send you else where and call the otjer place ahead to uave them ready for your arrival.

Ashley Rose

Brought dog in late at night, honestly thinking I'd have to put her down, and the vet tech/vet worked with me and my fur baby in a delicate & professional manner. My dog had some issues but she was able to come home thanks to their quick thinking and compassion. The entire procedure was stressful but they kept me updated every step of the way. Words can not express how grateful I am to them for their help!

steve spiegelmann

Competent and caring. It's worth bringing your dog here.

Johnny Posh

If this is the funeral home you would like to sign up your healthy pets for routine neuters, than you have picked the right vet! Not only did my Poor rabbit get sent home with an infection when we picked him up after his surgery, but when brought back to get some help for him the vet lied to both myself and my significant other, in what we believe and now call the crooked vet world (Comparable to a mechanic out to get your money)! If your vets name is Maryam and you happened to choose this funeral home, run for the hills! And then over the mountains into the forest far far away!

Mary Aucoin

Wonderful and extremely helpful vet, they always take great care of my cat

jacob longbotham

Lyndsay McGregor

Awesome place!! They are very nice and caring!!

Jaylene Arnold

The first time I brought my cat soldier to a different vet they punctured his ear drum, but said he was fine, then I brought him to McKnight vet and they said he had an ear infection. Best vet ever worth the peice

Evelyn Hintin

I took my 3 month old puppy to McKnight veterinary hospital because his face was slightly swollen. The receptionist was extremely comforting and nice to me and my dog. The vet on the other hand Dr. Jan Hen-Boisen was very judgmental and rude during my visit. After determining that the swelling wasn't causing him any problems and would probably pass she continued to lecture me on how to train my dog even though I did not ask for any advice in this regard at especially 11:30 pm and just wanted to get home so my puppy could rest. I was also not impressed that after the whole ordeal I was charged $98.70 for his "emergency" with no prescription and just told to wait for it to pass. I will not be taking my dog here ever again in the future.

Heather Ashkin

My beloved little barn cat is currently at McKnight receiving the very best of care. The cat doesn't belong to me, but I brought her in from the barn after noticing her difficulty breathing. I showed up in the morning with no appointment, and my kitty was admitted immediately. The reception staff was friendly and accommodating. I spoke with Julie and Brittany. I was told to head home and received a call under 2 hours later with the Vet's initial impression (Dr. Gruffyd) Since the cat didn't belong to me I had some budget constraints, the vet herself walked me through every possible test and diagnostic option and the associated costs. They explained the pros and cons to me patiently and asked for my thoughts when creating a treatment plan. Since then, I have called frequently for updates and have never waited on hold for more than 5 minutes (even in the middle of the night). The night vet (Dr. Porter) even called me completely unbidden to make sure I didn't have any questions after I had spoken with an AHT earlier for an update. Dr. Gruffyd has been extremely reliable, patient and thorough with me. She calls when she says she will, with any information I had requested ready to go. She has been gentle and understanding, but also honest about her prognosis. I am continually reassured that my little love is comfortable, and was even told that there is always someone around to give pets and cuddles and whisper encouragements to the animals. I'm not sure at this point if my babe will pull through, but I am extremely impressed at the level of empathy and communication I have received. No one is ever impatient or annoyed with me for calling, and ALWAYS has time for a kind word and to tell me how sweet my cat is. I have spoken to several other techs, receptionists and assistants, but didn't catch everyone's name. I want to extend my gratitude and appreciation to each and every one of them. I know that whatever happens for little Plum, that the team is rooting for her and doing everything they can to avoid stressing her out and to help her recover. They did the same for me when I needed them. I cannot thank them enough for the gift they are providing to me and my little sweetheart. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Alexa Collings

they can be a bit slow but they always are there when your pet is in trouble.

Loosing a much loved pet is one of the hardest things that anyone who loves animals can go through. McKnight has been there for me during some very hard times with two much loved Siamese lynx point cats. The first (several years back now), my 1 year old lynx point ate the tip of a foam dart and needed it removed - he was blocked and couldn't move his bowels. A downtown clinic quoted $5k. Doctor Marty Baird at McKnight saved his life and did the operation without blood work. The end result was 1700 vs 5k downtown. No brainer. He saved Bugsy's life. The second lynx- sadly I had to put him down because of kidney failure a year ago- and McKnight helped make that transition just a little less painful- with very helpful and kind employees, phone follow ups, teaching me to give him IV fluids, a private room when the time came to put him down (with zero pressure) a wonderful and compassionate lady veterinarian, condolences card, and finally a ceramic imprint of his footprints to remember him with... Yknow, I understand that when faced with a pet crisis Canadians cannot seem to absorb that pet health care IS EXPENSIVE. If you choose to buy cheap food or not do any regular vet visits... or when something bad does happen you are shocked by the cost... the fact is these are the simple facts of responsibly owning an animal. You simply cannot escape it. There is no exact or perfect science in pet healthcare, and often people are not able to afford the high cost of blood tests or X-rays and so on, but one must be prepared for that possibility. Further these are humans who are also doing the best they can within your budget and means they are not flawless but they are professional. This sometimes means making educated guesses if you cannot pay for the cost of science and it's modern tools for an accurate diagnosis and as such is not a perfect solution. There just aren't any guarantees with complications that may arise from one animal to the next: or one illness to the next.... Just like it is for us humans. For whatever it is worth this clinic has always helped me through the most difficult times when called upon, and after a year to reflect on my best friends passing, I still feel they went above and beyond and for that I will always be grateful and highly recommend them. Many sincere thanks to all the kind souls who work at the McKnight animal hospital and took care of my best friend when I no longer could.

Our cat needed after hour emergency twice within one month. During the first visit we had a long wait, understandably because pets in a more acute condition were taken first. On our second visit our cat was in distress and was taken instantly. The vet was quick to diagnose and prepare us for a grave outcome. Within five minutes she had confirmed her diagnosis; our cat would have to be put to sleep. The care we were given was exceptionally sensitive to both us and our cat. A week later we received a card signed by all staff members. What a surprise and how considerate. Thank you!

Erica Jean

the worst vet hospital in the city. we took my cat in because she was peeing blood and it was a holiday so it was the closest place open. they told me she was going to die unless we paid $3000 for them to keep her there to treat her for kidney disease, they also said there was a high chance she had bone cancer and this was even pricier to treat. she was 15 years old so we didn't want to leave her by herself and couldn't afford to pay that much. the vet was not very understanding, it took us pushing her for other options (we were in the room for 5 hours) before she said we could try and treat her at home but this was most likely not going to work and she made us feel like this choice was basically a death sentence for her. she let us take home treatment for her "ama", my cat ended up getting a pretty bad cold form the experience and im 100% sure if i had left her there she would have died. a year later and she is completely fine, does NOT have any cancer whatsoever and has very treatable kidney disease. i would not recommend this place at all, they are not professional or kind. i know other people who have also had horrible experiences here in regards to bedside manner.

cheon du

brought 3 dogs in now over the past couple years. Now vets a tuff thing with me, I have owned dogs for over 20 years of my life and in the past I have had bad experiences from vets with bad prognosis spending thousands to only get that the dog should be put down anyways. I get you wanna give your family member a fighting chance and who are vets to get in the way of that. But a good prognosis is the key to that. mcknight May not be the most affordable but they do have vets and tools to give you a understanding with wrong with your pet. ill be going back.

Since moving to the area a few years ago, McKnight Vet has become my dog's home vet. I don't have enough words to explain how wonderful of an addition they've been in my "lemon" dog's life. My dog has suffered from severe allergies most of his life. McKnight Vet was with us trying to figure out the best treatment for my old boy (he is 11). We recently switched him to Cytopoint, which has been amazing for him. Dr. Harris really went above and beyond for us when it came to his allergies. She was so informative and compassionate. Recently, I noticed that he was not receiving consistent dosages of Cytopoint though, which caused him to become distressed with a lot of discomfort. I contacted McKnight, and right away they looked into his file and determined that he wasn't receiving the proper dosages (too little). They immediately rectified the situation, and although I wasn't impressed that his dosages were not being given in a consistent manner, what they did do to rectify the problem greatly satisfied me and my doggo will be very happy. I love this vet, it's one of the only ones I have found to really truly care about their patients. Thank you to everyone at McKnight Vet <3 (my review would have been 5 stars if not for the dosage mix up =P)

Joe Parrottino

Worst service ever, actually didnt even get service they put me on hold for over an hour until I finally hung up.

Sara Scott

Clean space. Compassionate staff for the most part.

P. Jonke

Great customer service via first phone call, to arriving and admitting our pet, wonderful, awesome service.

Had to rush my 9 year old cat who had saddle thrombus at 2am in the morning last week. All of the staff were so caring, gentle and empathetic during the entire emergency. Sadly I had to put my beloved boy to rest. To have the support of the wonderful staff that evening made the entire experience feel very cared for. Thanks again ladies for being so amazing that night!

Jeff Richert (JR)

I brought my 5year old Rottie into the clinic in a panic...he was acting very abnormally, was very lethargic and wasn't responding to calling his name or food when I came home from work. Not like him. The staff immediately took him to the back and promptly came out to advise me that he was in bad shape and needed emergency care. I am beyond thankful that Dr. Ana and Dr. Bentley were working that evening. They wanted to keep him in the clinic overnight for observations and ultrasound him the next day. When I called back at 2am to see how he was doing - Dr. Bentley suggested I come in. It was an extremely emotional night... and the patience, compassion, and caring from both Drs was incredible - and exactly what was needed. He had a serious intestinal issue and was in critical condition. If it weren't for the fast acting Dr. Ana (who stayed well beyond her shift to perform emergency surgery and care for my boy - thank you, thank you, thank you) and the amazing care from Dr. Lorenza who was so optimistic , fast acting, and aggressive in the treatment suggestions, I know my boy wouldn't be here today. The level of care and time invested in getting my boy from "it will take a miracle for him to make it through this" and "the best we can say is 50/50" to the point that he is home, and on the mend - and being his normal self...by all the staff at the clinic... was so impressive. And the compassion we were shown from absolutely everyone at the clinic from the front desk to the technicians to the doctors was crucial during such a stressful time. Seriously so amazed and appreciative... there was always time to allow visits and updates... no matter what time of day. The Drs even came in on days off to check up on him. Thank you for saving Rommie...I am extremely lucky and fortunate as I know not all cases have a happy ending... but if it weren't for the team effort to support him in his fight ... it could have been a much different result. Thank you so much to everyone.

Claudia Fehres

24h? Hahaha. Last appointment at 3:30 and no evening hours ever does not a 24h vet make! And not allowing the owner to come in due to 18 months long renovations? I bet you thought I was going to say due to covid but no. Due to renovations!!! So I guess if you are a pet owner who works, don’t bother with this place.

Amy Corpe

My experience with Dr Remedios has been nothing short of phenomenal over the years. She has worked with me on a personal level (doing spinal surgery on my Dachshund with IVDD) and by providing exceptional care to all of my major medical foster animals through AARCS (providing surgical intervention for various orthopedic or soft tissue injuries in my fosters). I know that all of the staff at Mcknight Vet Hospital truly care about my personal pets and my foster pets. They treat us with the upmost dignity and respect and I trust them with my pets (owned or foster's) care. I highly recommend this team of experts for all of your pet’s needs, especially any specialized care by Dr Remedios. Where would the animal rescue community be without the very intelligent, talented, caring Veterinarian like Dr. Remedios? I cannot even imagine a world where she is not helping underprivileged rescue animals. She is not only passionate for the welfare of the animals that come to her for help, but she genuinely cares about the owners too. She is one of the most selfless, compassionate, reasonable and honest veterinarians that I have ever had the privilege of knowing and working with. Dr Remedios is an absolute blessing in Veterinary Medicine. I cannot say enough positive things about her and her magnificent team.

Rebecca Pinup

Excellent happy helpful vets, techs, staff. Always answer all of my questions. Price range is conducive with calgary ~ vets are expensive in this city. Really great care here. Highly recommend.

tobby Horton

they where very helpful and I suffer from a rare anxiety and I'm 39 but 16 in mind and they where great with ROXANNE told me what needed to be done how much and what they can do to help if I have money issues THANK YOU GUYS or I MEAN Ladies lol I will definitely coming back

Andrea Whenham

I've taken many of my pets here, mostly ferrets, but also a dog. I love the staff, they're always very kind and caring. The staff is very knowledgeable about ferrets, which is important when you have an exotic pet. We drove 3 hours each way to see them, since they were so wonderful with our ferrets! Their pricing is fair, and the fact that they're open 24 hours is so great when you have an emergency! Cannot say anything bad about this clinic!

The staff are wonderful choosing to ignore my simmering temper lol. This pandemic is hitting everybody and they are coping as well as they can given the shortage of docs. They took wonderful care of my Memphis. ????

Mackenzie Spencer

I love taking my dog here, the staff are always very friendly and helpful!

Aaron B

Our elderly cat was having issues and Dr. Skinner was extremely good to us and helpful in explaining the treatment process. Unfortunately the problems were unable to be resolved without resorting to very invasive diagnostic procedures which would have compromised quality of life regardless. Dr. Skinner exhibited amazing compassion and was very supportive and informative when it came time to make the difficult decision most pet owners face eventually. the front-line staff was very sympathetic and understanding of the difficult time we were going through as well. Previous to this, the staff at McKnight was very helpful and capable when treating other issues we brought to them.

Bill Joe (Solmain)

Recently had to put my 18 year old fur baby down and the staff were amazing and empathetic during the whole process. I really appreciate them being available 24hrs and doing what they can to help animals in need anytime and I'm pretty sure that there's some personal sacrifice that comes with working at a 24hr clinic so thank you for all that you do and keep up the great work!

Alexandria Rockwell

This vet was amazing! We were greeted immediately, and seen by the vet in a very short time period. The vet was amazing with my hyper, over excitable puppy. She took her time to do a full assessment and spent time with us. I highly recommend this vet!

Annie Gee

Staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. They were very straightforward with their procedures and services. They were also very transparent about pricing and won't charge you any hidden fees or anything like that

Michelle B.

I had saved a magpie bird that was injured on the side of the road and brought it in. He was going to go to a rehabilitation center which made me feel at ease. The vet was very kind. Clean, tidy, spacious office. Very helpful, friendly and informative staff.

Andrew Millar

Good service and care of animals. Can be busy with emergencies sometimes and then animals are seen on a need basis.

Corry

everyone that works there are always very nice and knowledgeable they go over all the options with you and help you make the right decision for your pet, I would take all my pets back and would recommend any one else you won't be sorry for going there

Julia Barnes

The staff and doctors at McKnight 24 Hour Veterinary Hospital are always very welcoming, caring and knowledgeable. Thank you for always looking after Kiwi.

Balwinder Marwaha

They were super friendly. We found a dog running around and took her there. They were great in taking care of the dog and got her back to her owners as quick as possible. I would definitely recommend them and go there again.

Jennifer Graham

This was my first time having to euthanize a family pet, and they were wonderful. So polite and caring. They didn’t rush me. Gave me all the time I needed. They made something so hard a little bit easier.

Janet Walker

The staff at the clinic are so kind and helpful. My cat Sweet pea was ill with urinary tract issues; they took the time to find what was causing them. She is happy and healthy now! Highly recommend them

Bryce Ford

Wouldn't help me with the situation I was told to bring there. Waited on hold for 10 minutes, had to walk up and wait at the door. Not coming back

W Wong

Reading the reviews initially I had some apprehension about taking my baby to this clinic, however the service that was provided to us was exceptional! They got her in and triaged almost immediately, which I understand can vary in times depending on the demand of an emergency service. Dr Abby was very patient and transparent with each cost, and thoroughly justified each measure. Nurse Amanda also took her time to explain post care instructions, and the front desk staff was courteous on the phone as well as in person. I am very happy with the care we received here! Earlier today I had Nugget visit a vet with near 5* overall review and the amount of information we received from them was disappointing at best compared to the findings from a comparable intake examination here. She came home happy and purring, which was a huge difference versus when I brought her in. Thank you Dr Abby and team!

James Ducarme

Staff is amazing the support u slot especially when your pet passes cuz let's face r pets are like r baby's/kids there a big part of r family and when they pass away or put to sleep it hurts big time ...

I recently took my dog Olli with a tense hard tummy, the doctor on duty said my dog likely had pancreatitis, one of his treatment options was admitting my dog overnight to hospital. They apparently did x rays. They recommended to schedule an ultrasound, the next day my regular vet clinic was open ( Sunridge Veterinary) , so my vet asked to reevaluate my dog before doing any ultrasound, he right away noticed something with his back, ran x rays and found out my dog had slipped a disc. He explained to me that a tense tummy is a sign of back issues and that pancreatitis was not likely as he didn't show other symptoms. I asked him to run test for pancreatitis just in case and they came normal. I don't think it's fair that McKnight was paid for giving me a wrong diagnosis, the least they could do is refund me the money. Insurance didn't cover it, I can only imagine how much bigger the bill would have been, if I had let them admit my dog overnight and my poor dog would have endured wrong treatment! I will obviously won't use their services again , neither reccomend them. On the bright side, the blonde lady at the front was super sweet and very helpful, she answered all my questions in regards food.

Very sad day for me last week - my cat of 10 years was hit by a car and died at home. Brought her to McKnight VCA to be cremated (after the city told me to literally throw her in the garbage). Walked in and before I could get my words out I burst into tears. The guy at the desk (Cody, I believe his name was) stood up immediately, took her from my arms (after asking very gently first), and then moved us to a private room while the Vet took a last look before officially pronouncing her. He was so so so sweet and empathetic, but remained extremely professional. He asked if I wanted too look at any of the memoirs (paw prints or ashes), and I explained that I probably couldn’t afford them but wanted to look anyways. He still spent time showing me everything, even knowing I probably wasn’t going to get anything. I didn’t feel rushed or pressured, and he got us water and let me take my time calming down before asking if I wanted to say my final goodbye. Brought my fur baby to me in a nice cozy blanket, and held her for me (I wasn’t able to hold her, as it was too upsetting for me) while I said my goodbyes. For such a terrible situation, he did his absolute best to make it as good as it could be. Thank you so so much!

Armanda Janulis

BEWARE! Extremely unknowledgeable and unhelpful doctors and staff. They are crooks. If you love your pet do not take them to this clinic!!!! Would give no stars at all, if possible. We took our bunny for an emergency visit to the McKnight 24 Hour Veterinary Clinic as he was suffering from a severe ear infection. They took him to the back where we couldn't even see what was being done to him. Waited 3 hours and didn't know what was going on, as no one was updating us and we had to go and ask, but they still took a long time to get back to us. In the end, all they were able to do was a swab test to find out what kind of bacteria caused the infection and prescribe a bunch of medication. Couple days passed and our bunny wasn't getting any better. This is when we decided to take him to another vet where we found out that the swab test and all medication prescribed were completely wrong and not only was NOT helping him but could have caused severe damage if used any longer. Delaying to give him the correct meds made his condition even worse. I wish I would have known this and took him to the right place on time. False diagnosis and wrong medication cost us over $300. Also, they told us to go and get critical care food in any pet store which is only prescribed by a vet, and can only be bought at a VET CLINIC. Nobody in McKnight Vet knows what they are doing! SHAME on this clinic! DO NOT RISK YOUR PET'S LIFE, find another vet/emergency clinic.

Katie M

I really appreciate this vet clinic! Our baby girl had an allergic reaction to a bug sting, was swollen and this vet got her in RIGHT away! No hesitation to assisting our little girl! We are so thankful and appreciative of the lovely ladies …

Jamie Vuong

My dog had a stroke and I went here to euthanize my dog. They were cheaper, more compassionate and much more helpful than the vet I had been to down the street. They weren't panicked because of covid but still had the right precautions in place. They were professional and even sent a surprise sympathy card with my dogs paw print in the mail, signed by their staff.

Mike Anderson

Thank you for the care you gave to our dog Riggs and to our family. We had to put our dog down today and the care we got from the Dr. and the staff were exceptional!!!!

Michael Rozo

The whole staff was very gently and supportive everytime on Sky's health. Thank you so much, and she is following the diet and recovering nicely. Thank you!!

Bonnie Praymayer

We had to bring our seriously injured dog here because it was the closest option at 9:30pm on a Sunday. We were not welcomed with the urgency and professionalism that I would have expected, but they are working to improve upon that based on my feedback. Nobody should have to experience what we did with our precious pup and it will continue to cause distress for a very long time. The veterinary experience should never add to the misery that someone goes through in such a desperate time. In contrast, it should be the only positive part of such a tragedy.

Aaron Cross

Horrible experience in so many ways. My 3 year old cat had a blocked bladder they immediately told me it was going to cost $1800 without even examining him. After 2 days I was told he was okay to pick up and that he was urinating properly. They were all pushy sales type people towards buying their pet food product before examining my cat. When I went to pick him upon they continued to push the food product until I had to be forward and tell them no. Two days after picking up my cat he was not doing very well so I called them to inquire what to do. They told me to bring him in right away. When I got there they took him into the room and squeezed his stomach area until a little urine leaked out and said he was fine to take home with more prescriptions. I left again after paying an additional $150. My cat is not getting any better and I will have to find an actual capable vet or worse wait for him to work through it or pass away. Finally what made me write this review was that I just received a call from them telling em they forgot to charge me for blood/culture work and they would not tell me anything until I paid them. STAY AWAY FROM HERE!!! If have to use a 24 hour vet service drive farther for your pets sake!

jamie Guy

They were so good brought by dog there for after hours care.

Jo-El Buerlen

Buyer beware with this clinic!! I would suggest getting quotes from other clinics before committing to this clinic. Have had many issues with over pricing and now wish I had taken the step to obtain quotes beforehand; I would have saved myself a lot of money, this clinic over prices, it's more about their pocket then your pet's health! I recently ran out of heartgard for my pet, called in to get another 6 month supply and the price went from $18.30 to $49.99, when I questioned it I was told by the clinic that they made an error when I purchased at the $18.30 price, that it was $18.30 for 1 tablet. If that was the price for 1 tablet, then why was I quoted $49.99 … if you do the math correctly 6 tablets at $18.30 would be $109.80 … BUYER BEWARE - definitely will not come back and I do not recommend!

Dominica “Dyno” Witt

My kitty Sushi was attacked by a friends dog. Her lungs were collapsed and I was having a total melt down. The nurses here were great, so friendly and respectful, and amazingly skilled at understanding my blubbering answers. The vet was patient and did all she could do for my kitty. I was there until 2am, and happy to say Sushi will make a full recovery. Only thing to be aware about is the cost is going to be a hard thing to swallow. $440 for half a day of oxygen, but i think most vets are this expensive, and the cost must be paid up front to the higher level of the estimate they give. If it comes under cost wise they'll refund whatever is over. A very well lit beautiful building that was fairly inviting even in the middle of the night. The clinic kitty Monster was super adorable too, even though he wasn't the most friendly he was definitly a welcome distraction while i waited for news.

Nunyo

Great staff - always take good care of my pets.

Reinbow Mano

If i could give this place a million stars i would, but even then that wouldnt be enough. This business and everyone that works there are amazing, they saved my dogs life and he's all i have left in this world so words don't even begin to describe the level of gratitude i have for that and them. If you need a doctor for your fur baby there's no other place i would go too....... except the beddington veterinary clinic during regular business hours ????????????

Brandon Brown (VileCucmber)

Great vet, can sometimes wait longer than expected, but being a triage vet this is understandable

Greg Bishop

Had to swing by to get my dog's busted claw looked at. Super accommodating and they were excellent despite him being quite the drama queen.

Dan Miller

I have been bringing my siberian husky here for the last six months. Just discovered this place and I love it. The veterinarians are awesome and the staff is friendly. My dogs always happy when we go.

Elisabeth Nelson

Absolutely horrible people that will let things happen to animals just so they make more money. I know you might think their good now, before anything happens. I know I did. But trust me. My dog died because they decided to wait until she needed emergency medical care to make $8000 instead of the $35 X ray that could have saved her life.

Asanka Weerakoon

I have been coming to this Vet clinic for a long time and i have met and still meet some most amazing wonderful humans. The ladies at the front desk are amazing and always with a smile no matter how busy they are and treat every one with professional manner and with compassion and kindness. Beautiful amazing humans like Iana, Janelle, Jessica, Julie K, Georgia, Ashley are few of them i got to know well and the rest that i have not named are in here too. And to mention the Doctors like Dr. Thusari, Dr. Skinner and Dr. Lalith whom i got to know through all these years are just amazing as well. And i bet the rest of the doctors are wonderful too. We wouldnt know what to do with our six pets without these great humans with such professional and excellent knowledge. We are so glad that we found this Clinic. We are so grateful for your service and hope the quality of service will continue on for a long long time. well done!!!

Issac P

Dont trust this vet over a phone call I was quoted 35 dollars for just the examination so I went and then was told it was 95, then payed for the medications and eye dye, walked out paying 170 dollars, absolutly unacceptable to be told 60 dollars less then I was paying.

Max Roberts

Greedy scam artists and poor quality care is what you’ll receive from these quacks. I wish I had of listened to warnings before I let my partner take our dog there. Sad lesson to learn! If you truly love your pet, find a real veterinarian and forget about these guys. Btw, they harass anyone who tries to warn the public and they try to discredit you. Don’t be fooled by the “please contact your office” line!

Dax Chatwell

I wouldn’t recommend this place, even if you try to call and make an appointment they’ll charge you an additional 25$ on the weekend just because. Tried to get my doggo looked at for a case of kennel cough, they wanted 95$“Instead of the regular 69$” just to look at him not including medicine.. called spring bank pet resort and it came up to a total of 87$ with everything.... so unless it’s an absolute emergency avoid this place.

Jordan Summersgill

Im rating this veterinary hospital 5 stars because they deserve it. My boyfriend and I lost our beloved Capone (BIG beautiful pure rotti) at this hospital, and even though it was one of the hardest experiences I have ever been threw myself, this group of staff really made us feel cared about at the time. They went above and beyond to take care of us when we were at our lowest point. They even sent us a card in the mail about a week after. Every single time I have brought a pet there, mainly the girls at the front desk are so friendly and genuinely care about our pets. They are personable and hospitable. After our dog passed I wasn't sure if I could continue going there after it happened, but I still do, and it's because of the girls at the front desk, honestly.

Raquel Bouchard

Don’t wanna waste any more of my time writing this so... just go somewhere else.

bruce luft

Good care but really ask details about fees.

Gabriella Terte

Amazing customer service! Everyone I’ve met and spoke with were so knowledgeable and understanding, I’ve never had such a great experience from other vets! I highly recommend this place!

Get Disinfecting yyc 2020

They took great care of our dog on a Sunday! Thx again

brar jagmeet

Beware. They make up stuff about your pet to make money. Rip off. Records are in my wife's name.

Dawn McKee

Having been a customer at McKnight for many years now, I can say that the level of care from all the staff (front desk, techs and vets) has been nothing short of awesome. The knowledge of ferrets, the skills with surgeries and the correct assessments of conditions (think about that..an animal can't tell you where it hurts inside or what it feels like, or how long it's been that way) have all helped us over the years. From the panic arrival at the clinic with a pet that 'has something wrong' (and feeling guilty that I've just made everyone else wait till I'm done) to the routinely scheduled needle injection to the sad moment of letting that pet go, each staff member has gone above and beyond for us. The caring is obvious! Keep doing what you are doing. Oh, and if you want to know just how 'un-greedy' this clinic is (accusations on their Facebook page), just know that they WILLINGLY took in a wild skunk that had a Tim Hortons Ice Cap lid stuck around it's neck. The skunk would have died a very painful and tragic death as it starved or died from infection. This clinic took in the skunk, cut off the lid and endured for DAYS the horrific stench of skunk spray. For FREE. They all did their jobs professionally, for an nonpaying customer...the skunk. Would your regular vet do that? Doubt it. If they'll do that for a wild skunk, (and they have other wildlife stories..just ask them) just think of what they'll do for your pet. Way to Go McKnight!

Tammie Monks

The clinic / hospital is completely unmanaged ! They are over whelmed with pets , extremely lacking communication skills and under staffed with veterinarians. Our poor 2.5 year old dog has been there for over 24 hours . We have paid $19000 so far and yet WE ARE the ones touching base . This is an extremely stressful situation

Kerry Zhang

This is my first google review. I never bother writing a review, but since other fur-children and their owners will be involved, I feel like I'm responsible in providing this realistic feedback. It'll be a very long essay, if anyone has the patience to read this. Please note that McKnight is the first hospital we ever visited so there might be some biases. First, the staffs and physicians are really nice and patient, they like to listen to you and provide all the information you need as the best they can; the service itself definitely worth compliment. However, I would also like to say something about how was our real experiences with McKnight, if anyone has the patience to read my review. Please note that McKnight is the first hospital we ever visited so there might be some biases. First of all, they'll make you pay for a $50-$100 examination fee EVERYTIME you bring your pet in, regardless it's for just a regular check, a vaccination apppointment, or a revisit, you need to pay that fee. I assume every clinic likes to do this, but still, as a student myself, the near $100 examination fee is more of a rob from my pocket if our puppy was there just for a regular recheck. Secondly, owners, if you want to have an eye on your pet and not very comfortable having your pet taken away for hours possibly, DO NOT visit the hospital. They'll take your pet away and ONLY CALLS you to inform the situation and all instructions are done via a phone call. I'm not sure if this is due to COVID or something, but this is quite unacceptable for me personally if owners are not allowed to even see how their pet is being treated behind the door. Again, I'm not sure if all clinics do this. In our country, owners are ALWAYS, or even ENCOURAGED to be with their pets during treatment to comfort them in a brand new environment. Lastly, the details of some medical work is totally unreliable, which made me very angry about, I doubt if it was done by med students in internship. Our puppy's leg was broken due to an accident and they had a splint on her, which is not a problem, however, I discovered more than one time that my puppy's tummy and thigh had clear wounds due to fiction caused by bandages on splint. So I stressed please be careful when wrapping the bandages on, and they clearly didn't accept my suggestions; after a week or so, they removed the splint after her leg recovered, and what terrifies me was the infections are everywhere on the skin on her injured leg for keeping tight bandages and lack of fresh air inside splint for weeks. Moreover, My puppy had her tibia broken, NOT THE ENTIRE LEG AND HER PAW!! I hope they at least can release some tension on the bandages around her paw, BUT THEY DID NOT, so dispite the infections on her paw, even her nails are nearly broken and distorted by bandages, I can't even imagine how painful she was! I'm so disappointed with how careless the person was while doing the bandages, definitely didn't pay any attention! Again the bandage is more likely done by a student, not a professional physician! Of all these complains, I know it kinda sounds harsh, but again these are my real experiences and feeling working with McKnight; also I wish the team could have done better and make great progress out of their business in the future, because many fur-children's health is at stake there.

Do not bring your pet here if you are experiencing an "emergency"!!. I was dog sitting for my parents while they were out of town when my dog had gotten into the trash and consumed something that made him feel very dizzy and tired; as scared as I was with what was happening I rushed him as quick as I could to McKnight 24 Hour Veterinary Hospital and in my panic I had forgot my credit card on the counter. Once there they were very nice people and provided some standard advice for a $94.00 checkup fee stating "he clearly had eaten some kind of drug" however immediately after a 10 minute conversation with the vet I was told they would not provide any help to this poor animal who was struggling to even stand until $800.00 was pre-deposited to them (no exceptions). After knowing that my dog was not in life threatening condition I decided to just go with some Charcoal and an IV to lessen the effects of what he had consumed and he seemed instantly better. In my honest opinion, I feel they are very nice Veterinarians that work there, but I do also feel they attempted to abuse the fact that I was scared and exaggerated the the situation in attempts for me to pay the full $800.00. My dog is doing great now.

Don Glode

Very patient and professional. Understood that my cat is not familiar with visiting a vet's office.

Ryan

Both my dogs are healthy and happy because of these guys. Will always go back and recommend them. Dr. Bruce is amazing.

Alysha Bhargava

It's not 24 hours like its name suggests. Also they didn't have a Dr when I went there for an emergency.

Roni J Furgeson

We have an 8 year old small mix bread dog that has never had any issues or emergencies until Monday when she mistakenly ate a grape. We had no idea Grapes were so toxic for Dogs. When we took her in to our Vet to try and induce vomiting they could not get the entire Grape out and said we needed to take her to the Emergency Vet Hospital Vet. We called a NW hospital that said it would be a 2-3 hour wait... I could not wait that long knowing the grape was harming my dog with each passing minute... we called McKnight and they took her in right away. She had to stay for 3 full days so they could monitor her.. I am so impressed with the level of care they gave our girl... they even sent me pictures of her each night. I truly do not think the staff at McKnight get thanked and appreciated enough for all that they do. SO THANK YOU ALL ! I highly recommend this Vet Hospital.

K S

Amazing!!! Prices are stellar! They were so kind, helpful & literally 35% cheaper than Falconridge Vet for the same shots, and procedure!! No one go to Falconridge - rip off scams and get offended when you go to another vet for the same service but cheaper (common sense). Falconridge also bans you for life and refusing you and your pets any service after because you called them out on their prices!! Petty and childish...and proves that clinic doesn't really care for animals and only price!! Anyways, McKnight is amazing, their staff is wonderful! My experiences with McKnight on 5 occasions were AMAZING.

Anthony G

My wife and i have used them in the past. they where very helpful. with the recommendation from apex animal clinic to call them when my dog was in really rough shape.

Harper Keith

Staff excellent thru a difficult lose, also kept our costs low, especially considering it's a 24hr clinic

Jake Mayer

I can not say enough about how fantastic everyone has been at this hospital. The girls at the front desk are always so helpful and the doctors are amazing! They are always there when we need them.

Michelle Hebenton

Yesterday's visit to this clinic went from bad to worse. I have been brining my dog here for nearly 3 years, but yesterday was definitely the last time. I chose a walk-in appointment for my dogs ear infection. The vet came in and did a swab of both ears, came back with the diagnosis and asked if I wanted her to clean them out. I said sure! Half an hour later, she came back with my dog and he was limping on one leg. I asked her what was wrong, and she hadn't even noticed! She then went on to say "he must have jumped up on someone". Really!? Come on. I then proceeded to the front desk to pay and the receptionist noted that there was a charge for ear cleaning. The vet did not inform me of the additional charge to the $90 drop in fee. In her defence, the vet did waive the charge as she understood how that could be misleading. Finally, just as I was about to pay, a women came in, very distraught, as her dog had passed away and was in her vehicle. She was clearly devastated, and all the receptionist did was hand her a clip board and a box of tissues. No one offered her a seat, a quiet room, or water. It made me sick to see the lack of empathy towards this poor woman. Would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a sincere and quality appointment for their pet, but it is conveniently open 24/7... UPDATE: Athena (their office manager) used a cut and paste response to respond to my review, asking me to give her a call. Over the past two weeks I have left 3 messages and still haven't received a call back....Surprised? Nope!

Neil Williams

Friendly, efficient and helpful. Most definataly reccomend!

Dave Herman

I just wanted to say a heartfelt Thank you for the care and support your team provided my Daughter and her dog June. When it realized the family was financially unable to provide the funds needed to save the dog Dr Malaguti provided some cost relief without compromising care, this ultimately likely saved the dogs life. Thank you!! Dave

Nicole Newell

Extremely over-priced!! I understand all vets are expensive and yes of course our fur-babies are worth every penny, however please don't guilt trip me when I cannot afford your $1900-$2600 quote for a dental!! Front girls were pleasant (they are every time I go), but that's where the good experience ends. Beddington Vet here we come!!

Simon Starke

Brought my dog due to allergy and regarding issues, they kept her all day and they did not keep us informed on what was going on. We decided to go and check what was going on, after 1.5 hr waiting they handed us my dog rapidly. They did not explain the findings on what they found on blood tests or what Vet found out. They said "they haven't seen something like that before" and we should go to an specialist. VET did not see us even when we paid for it we did not get any direct information from her/him. They handed the bill without explaining it (saw them going through it with other pet owners) like they just wanted me to pay and move on with our lives. My dog was crying and complaining and she was worse than before walking it to the clinic same day. Will avoid coming back here.

Ashley P

Dr. Malaguti has gone above and beyond for our dog Lou. We are so thankful for her and I feel without her compassion and knowledge he wouldn't be here today. And a shout out to the ladies at the front who always make us feel welcome and comfortable.

Fatima Aziz

This was my first time taking my 9 week old kitten (mercy) to get her shots and deworming procedure. Right from booking the appointment to picking her back up the nurses and doctors were absolutely amazing. I am so grateful that even during this hard time they were able to help me and take such good care of Mercy at the same time. Even though I couldn’t be in the room with her because of Covid-19 regulations, the doctor still kept me posted via phone call the entire time. It was such a great experience and thankfully lil Mercy is back to her normal self. Thank you to the kind nurses and doctors that work at this facility and for making this such a easy and quick process. Can’t wait to be back for my next appointment!

Michelle Lee

Love the staff and Doctors. Super friendly. The staff do take very good care of your pet! Only thing is I walked in today because my dog wasn’t well and it cost more for walk-ins. I couldn’t get an appointment and it’s the weekend tomorrow so it will be walk-ins only regardless. Better to get my dog seen sooner than later. Anyways, I spent 4.5 hours there waiting from the time I walked in the door to the time I left. I think if you know you are busy, please keep my pet and tell me to leave and call me to come back when you have the results and plan of action. I literally waited for hours.

Marilyn Germaine

Seem to be using the fact that during Covid you aren't able to wait with your pet as an excuse to take as long as possible. Waited six hours for them to do a blood test and book an ultrasound. Only provided information to me when I got frustrated and decided to call them. Didn't take my dog out to poop/pee the whole time he was there so he was desperate by the time I picked him up seven hours later. I will not be going back.

Laura James

Very compassionate and caring when we found out our dear pup had stomach cancer and had to be put to sleep. From start to finish the kindness we were shown and “no rush” mentality which allowed us all to properly say good bye was truly appreciated. We got to be with him in a soft and relaxing space as he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Thank you to all the staff for being so sensitive to our utter heartbreak

Jennifer Fanjoy

I don't think 5 stars is enough for this wonderful place. On Christmas day we had to put our girl down and I don't know how to express my gratitude to the wonderful people here at this Hospital. They not only took care of my sweet girl but also of us. I still can't read the wonderful card they sent us as it is way to emotional, and it has taken me 2 months to come on here to write this. I will be forever grateful to them as they had to deal with me being a hysterical wreck and not thinking to clearly and I am pretty sure I might have yelled at someone LOL In the moment your mind is only thinking of the poor innocent pup you raised for 16 years and trying to find a way to say goodbye . Putting down a pet is something that is truly heart breaking and the wonderful staff here made it easier if that is even possible but they did it and put up the emotional wreck we were. I am forever thankful to them all.

Cate Tony

They are money hungry. I took my cat in for a blockage. My options were either $1900 or $1600 or euthanize. Years ago we came here, they were much better and way more sympathetic. Now they have attitude and talk down to you. Will NEVER go back here. Went to Cartsiars vet, 100% better. They are doing the same thing and are less than a third of the cost! Unfreaking believable.

Brittany Hicks

My boyfriend and I had a very good experience at this hospital tonight. The front staff are friendly, welcoming and accomodating. They greeted us right when we walked in with our kitty and led us right into a room so he could relax in a quiet place while we waited for the doctor. We felt 100% comfortable trusting Dr. Gruffydd with our kitty's care; she was very knowledgeable and compassionate. We were very worried about him and she quickly put our minds at ease! The RVTs were very efficient and caring; when our boy needed blood work they brought him back right after they were done so he could relax with us while we waited for results. We will definitely continue to bring our animals here in the future!

My cat had an accident where he tried to jump from the table to the counter and fell and hurt his paw. In fact he has his paw lifted up which indicates this isn't something that is a small injury. I phoned ahead because I wanted to take him to emergency to get his paw x-rayed and perhaps relieve his pain with some medication and the receptionist told me that unless this is a medical emergency that I should wait until tomorrow and see his regular veterinarian. On top of that when I pushed back, she told me that she realizes he may be in pain but as long as he was eating and drinking, he was not an emergency. Since when has a 24 hour veterinary hospital started dictating what constitutes a medical emergency. I was absolutely shocked at this phone call. If I want to bring my pet in to have an injury looked at and I'm willing to pay premium dollar to do so because it's after hours, who is this individual and also the clinic to decide whether I am privileged enough to visit their emergency clinic. Like what in the ..... is going on? I am really, really disappointed in this clinic ... some emergency clinic .....

rosario talarico

Great clinic for your furry friends...high end dog food...specialty vet only dog and cat food...great supplements...caring staff..24 hours .

Luke Marshall

Fantastic staff, practical advice, and great care for my pet.

Lloyd Coates

The staff was very professional and got our seniordog Max in to see the Vet when he was having trouble walking. Tests were done and results were given promptly. The Vet was very thorough and we were pleased with everything that was done. Thank you !

Don't take your pet to this place unless you want to kill them. They're only trained to treat some cats and dogs.

Bronwen Davies

Friendly, knowledgeable and courteous staff. Would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone looking for top notch care for their pets. Thank you!

Michele Arends

So Xmas day and my daughters Shih tzu passed away at home! We brought her here after phoning, the girl we dealt with was so compassionate and nice during such a difficult situation! Thank you for making it a little easier!

Leah Ray

My daughter took my 9 pound cat to this place. They could not get her out of her kennel because she was hissing at them. They sent my daughter away with the cat and a sedative and told her it takes 2 hours to kick in so to bring her back. My daughter did take her back and they still could not get the cat out of the kennel to check her. She was then told that she could be given an IV sedative but the bill would be about $600 (I'm confused, if you can't get a cat out of the kennel how can you do an IV?). The vet called me and said the cat probably has glaucoma. I definitely know that's not it because the picture myself and my daughter have on our phones looks like the cats bottom eyelid is cut (probably from our kittens nails when they were playing). They saw the picture on the phone and prescribed 5 medications and charged me for the assessment fee when they couldn't even get the cat out of the kennel.

Very disappointed with the lack of service. My dog was gagging and puking. We waited an hour and still didn't even talk to anyone. Went to VCA got in less then ten minutes. Didn't seem like emergency care was priority there. To top it off when I left no one was even in the waiting room.

Michalla Warwaruk

Took my dog to the vet on monday as he was having symptoms of a potential blockage. Ended up waiting 1.5 hours to be seen when told from the beginning the wait wasnt long at all. Took my dog back to sedate to do xrays, I told them he has bad allergies and needs to have a cone on when kenneled the tech said that wouldnt be an issue and took him back... got him back to find out that he didnt have cone on and was chewing himself pretty badly... the vet then told me I should really get it checked out, seemed more concerned about his allergies then the problem we were there for.. I'm not concerned about his allergies we have our regular vet for that. Wouldnt likely come back..

Natalie Blake

The vet is very sweet with the animals. Just over priced.

M McP

An amazing experience. They literally saved our dogs life. The staff were compassionate, accommodating and lovely. The vets, Dr Wong and Dr Griffith were both excellent and knowledgeable. We are grateful.

Deb And Kyle

We trust McKnight Vet with our Son’s Service Dogs health unconditionally. Dr Remedios has done two surgeries on my sons dog Spirit and the care and compassion she had for my son needs and his dogs needs and recovery went far beyond my expectations. We also encountered an emergency hospital stay and the emergency Vet team was so wonderful, they contacted us continuously with updates and always was transparent about any costs. It’s a fantastic team and I’m so grateful to have them here in Calgary.

Scot Hadden

I have have had experience with two different dogs at McKnight Vet and all interactions have been professional and courteous. Recently my nine moth old border collie got neutered there and the level of care, expertise and advice were all excellent. Would definitely recommend them.

Mary Oliphant

Losing Bailey was very hard. Thank you for your support during the end of his life.

DO NOT TRUST MCKNIGHT VET OR AARCS RESCUE ORGANIZATION!!! They are all scammers!!! I had a litter of puppies, one of the puppies in particular, a 10 week old brindle female.. American Bully.. was brought in by the buyer with worry that the puppy was sick ( she did exactly what she was supposed to do. ) when she brought the puppy in, she was told at first that they didn’t suspect anything was wrong because her temperature was just a tad high .. fast forward a bit, the vet staff and Vet on her file PATRICIA GORDADO storms into her room demanding that she pay $4000.00 to treat her FULL BLOWN PARVO PUPPY. As a vet you should have taken that into consideration to begin with and quarantined the pup immediately. The vet gave my buyer ONLY ONE OPTION! In exact words “ call your friends, call your family .. anyone you can because if you can’t foot the $4000.00 today, we will euthanize your puppy or you will have to surrender it. She had no choice! Who has 4 grand just put away? 2 days later, I am on a 3 way call with my buyer and the head vet here at McKnight. ( the vet did not know I was on the phone ) where she proceeds to tell the buyer that the reason the puppy contracted parvo, was because the breeder ( myself ) vaccinated them too late ???? BUT I have records that they were vaccinated at 7 weeks and in PERFECT health. My older dogs were never aloud out or to dog parks and nobody was welcome at my home until those pups were gone. I piped in at that point and let her know that I did in fact have them vaccinated on FEBRUARY 1, 2019 and their birthday was on DECEMBER 8, 2018. She seemed rather caught off guard that I was on the phone and started back peddling.. ???? when we sorted that tid-bit of info out .. she proceeded to tell my buyer that she had been approved for payment options .. my buyer was very confused as she had never even been given a payment option!!! So my buyer! Was bullied into surrendering her dog WHEN SHE DIDNT NEED TO HAD THE MCKNIGHT STAFF DONE THERE JOB OF PROVIDING ALL OPTIONS! The only reason that they didn’t provide that option, is because the company who does payment was closed that day.. they took the lazy way out and as a result there are many broken hearts. They have taken my puppy to AARCS rescue where the women there have been nothing but rude and difficult and also quite dishonest. ***** I HAVE A BREEDING CONTRACT THAT STATES THAT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES THAT MY PUPS NEED TO BE SURRENDERED THAT THEY COME TO ME AND MY HUSBAND ***** McKnight took it upon themselves to bully the buyer into thinking she had no other choice against my contract that they were aware about. I DO NOT blame my buyer. Anyone who doesn’t know a lick about parvo or what to do or look for, only knows to take the pup in and that’s what she did. The staff took advantage I’ll be damned if I go down without a fight.

Mia Baker

Best emergency vet clinic in Calgary.

Joey Dan

Do not take your animal here there more worried about paying their rent Then actually giving care to your dog or animal these people only want money

sarah small

I brought my 13 year old chihuahua Chloe here after noticing very strange behaviour. She wouldn’t eat, drink, hadn’t gone to the bathroom and was very lethargic. They saw her right away, asked me relevant questions, and genuinely wanted to get to the bottom of her peculiar behaviour. The vet I saw was Dr. Adam Bentley. He made the whole experience amazing. He explained things thoroughly to me, he was so gentle with Chloe and he gave me his honest opinion. I would 100% recommend this vet clinic, and I will likely not go anywhere else in Calgary now that I’ve been here.

Lorraine Chaboyer

This hospital saved my Sasha. I've never seen such a caring veterinary hospital. The staff are on top of it and made me feel at peace with what we went thru with my Pom. Dr. Lorenza saved my baby and for that, I'll always be grateful ????. I will always recommend this place for all your needs. A huge thank you to all the staff!

Dream Chaser

It seemed like a great place but once you get inside, the Atmosphere changes due to lack of outstanding customer service. They greatly lack in managing their times and prioritizing certain issues when it comes to treating pets. It really doesn't matter how I'm treated It just drives me crazy how they don't pay attention to the pets that get brought in. The wait time is too long especially when you bring your pet at times of an emergency. Save yourself the time and take your pets elsewhere.

Mel Butler

Great service s! Staff is amazing so is the doctor and prices are the best ive seen at most vet clinics . xoxo

Roy Holleman

I only come here for my pets food. Always a great stock and people are friendly

Steven Harvey

Not sure what has changed over the last 10 months from when I posted my initial review, but service here has dropped to unacceptable levels. When bringing my dogs in they seem to get good care and the vet's did a good job of explaining what is going on to me. However; when needing refills on prescriptions that my geriatric dogs need to be able to live in their twilight years in comfort, they have failed. Twice now we have waited for OVER A WEEK to get a prescription filled. This is an unacceptable amount of time for medication that we need. Even when calling 5 days in advance so they have lots of time to get things sorted, my dog had to go without. I am not impressed with whatever has changed, and will only be back if I need to bring in an animal on an emergency basis.

Abby DiCastri

I cannot say enough good things about this vet and their staff. I have been here several times for all sorts of issues with my animals and whether they are giving great news or bad, the staff are always incredibly kind, compassionate and understanding. They took the best care of my kitten who passed yesterday and were so patient with us despite our inconsolability. Thank you so much for everything you do and for taking the best care of my Simon kitty in the end.

C.B. H.

The male veterinarian, Ryan, that looked at our two cats was reallly knowledgeable and took the time to explain things to us nicely and calmly. He was very gentle while examining and giving their shots. He was upfront about pricing, giving us time to decide what treatments we wanted. The price was reasonable, especially for it being Boxing Day. We even got 2 discounts: one for having multiple animals, and one for being new patients.

Sara Wiehler

Wonderful, professional service. Janelle at the front desk was incredibly helpful, patient and friendly, despite being short staffed that day and insanely busy.

José García

I wouldn't recommend this vet because they wanted to kill my dog if i didn't have $5000 dollars up front and just to see her you charged me $700 i told them to give me the prescription for whatever she needed and you denied when i said i didn't have the $5000 you said we have to kill your dog there's no other path turns out i brought my dog home and she's still alive i just researched about natural antibiotics she needed and that save my dog and my pocket $4300 keep the $700 thanks for nothing ease be sure to have a second opinion when they said we have to put your animals down !

Melissa Widdup

We took my cousins dog here because it was the closest place open on a Sunday. We called ahead of time to let them know we were on our way and what the dogs symptoms were. (My cousins dog was pooping blood) we got there and they told us it would be a 30 min wait. After 45 minutes a vet still had not come in to check on us or anything so I went and asked again when the vet would be coming and she said it would be just a little while longer. We ended up wiring there for 2 hours with the poor little dog dying and they wouldn't bump us up at all in priority. So we left and went to the animal hospital off deerfoot by trail appliances (which was fantastic and got us in immidiately and started treating her). On our way there we got a call from the vet asking why we left...my cousin was too upset to talk so I gave the lady an ear full about how terrible they were for not bothering to help a dying dog when I saw them take in a dog that was in way better health that got there after us too. I hate this place ND would NEVER under any circumstances recommend this place! They will let your pet die before they do anything.

Caylyn Oshiro

Phoned twice to get quotes and information. After the puppy health checks, we were told the items are actually not included and the price was more expensive. Shay at the front desk is beyond rude, she would not provide manager's name or contact information, only that she would pass on my information. Took a ridiculous amount of time to get a piece of paper printed. This is my second bad experience with this place, last time they would not let me leave without putting my month old puppy down. Definitely do not recommend this place.

Shelley Belly

Took my dog here for about 10 years. They never pressured me to go with procedures or testing that I didn't feel was necessary. When it was time to put my old girl down, the staff and dr were very accommodating and let my family in despite the covids. They gave us time and space and we were and are so grateful and appreciate of this clinics support. They even sent us a card with Shadow's paw print on it, which we cherish to this day. Will return when it's time for a new family member for sure.

Chris sweezey

First dog I've ever had to have put down. She with me all of her 14.5 years. They were very compassionate and to my surprise they mailed me a card signed by the staff with a bunch of her paw prints ???? made me have a good cry...absolutely amazing

Dawn Kennedy

I will say the staff are nice. But we felt rushed to make a decision. Being on disability we do not have a lot of money. Was told 5000 tp 8000 for treatment or the second option was to put her down. This was a horriable time as my bf was out of town. I felt preasured that I would be putting other cats at risk...but she already around other cats all the time anyways. I was too sick to go and our friend had to take her...I wish now I had brought her home and then could have had her put to sleep at home with us instead of with strangers . Ot perhaps given names of organizations that could have helped with paying for treatment.which would have bern my first choice befote death. I did not have enough time to research her diagnosed to make mote of an informed decision...nor was I given the option for her to stay over night so I could have had a chance to do all of the above. I did call back and finally learned that they did the test that i learned about later and at least confirmed her diagnoses. The lady was kind. But now shes gone and I cannot undo it. So if you are reading this ...do not rush your decision and do not let anyone rush you.

My big girl got hit by a car.... we brought her there, we had an amazing service. They took care of her. We were nervous but they took the time to explain everything to make us feel better. They even call a few days after her surgery to see how she was doing. We had to bring her back couple days after because she's been able to eat some of her stitches with her cone. They again took good care of her. Prices are not exaggerated. My girl is on raw feeding they didn't juge, they just made sure she was getting enough of everything she needs. I recommend them all the way.

Shirley Brown

During this unsettling time, I felt that McNight vets and staff were very accommodating , They took their time to make sure all problems were addressed regarding our dog. We thank you all for your help and consideration.

Susanne Billingsley

Friendly staff who are willing to work with you, they really love their furry clients!

Michelle Hubbs-Felder

Been taking my fur son there for almost 10 years. It's no where close to home, but they have very good dog-side manner and treats. They don't try to "upsell" you on anything unnecessary.

Dee Gee

Worst people. Elizabeth cumyn was incompetent and an embarrassment to this industry. Turns out 10 minutes on google was far superior to her "medical training" she fumbles forming sentences whilist trying to upsell. I think she enjoyed measuring my pets temperature a little too much. Sick. Dont come in.

Marty Kennedy

Great service and prices are very reasonable.

Olla Saghir

If I could give this place no stars I would. I would not recommend taking your pet here. All they will do is say what they “think” is wrong with your pet. I took my cat here twice last month & they just gave him 4 different types of medicine to be on. Today, a month later we had to put him down. We took him to the Strathmore animal clinic & although it was a very difficult thing to go through they made it very comfortable for us. I highly recommend anyone not to take there pet here cause all you will get is a guess even after multiple tests. They don’t care about your pets well being, they just want you to spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars for a “I think”. You will regret taking them here.

We credit Mcknight Vet Hospital with saving our fur baby (Chloe's) life. We got our dog Chloe there in time and she was diagnosed with Addisons Disease. In our panic - Dr. Shelby took the time to explain the disease to us and also was very compassionate towards us and our worry. Chloe had to spend a few nights at Mcknight Vet Hospital and the care she received from the ENTIRE staff was extraordinary! When we phoned - they always took the time to answer our questions. When we came to visit Chloe - the staff gave us time and a quiet space to visit our fur baby. Dr. Eileen also gave us a better understanding to give us confidence to give Chloe a good quality of life after the diagnosis. Although it was a scary time - that entire staff shows PURPOSE in helping pets AND their caregivers. When we brought Chloe home - Dr. Eileen took the time to follow up and phone us several times to see how Chloe was doing.Yes - the Vet bill eventually had to come. But I never felt pressure. They delivered a lifesaving service and we are extremely grateful for that service and expertise. Thank you to the ENTIRE staff. Peggy, Ken and Chloe

Hamzah Naeem

Took my fur baby to this hospital, vet explained what will be done which amounted to ~$200 which we agreed to. Receptionist tried to charge ~$500 for things we never agreed to and tried to make it seem like we did. I asked to speak to the vet because we never did to clarify and he was “in a procedure” and miraculously they agreed to the $200 right away.

Leah Arkley

We had the same vet for years and years and when he retired and closed the business we were very sad. McKnight has been a very nice place for us and our pets to land. We have always appreciated their kind, responsive and gentle approach. They also have fair prices and are very good to offer options and choices for most situations as opposed to just prescribe and charge.

Ed Coop

Very good veterinary service, open 24 hours, super friendly staff

John Huhn

Great staff great people great service and a happy puppy

Kristen Almhjell

The staff here are incredible. They are compassionate, caring and kind. Would recommend them to anyone!

Christina Pierce

Everyone I talked to while here with my dog was very helpful and friendly, as well as knowledgeable. My dog's nose was bleeding and it scared me because it can be a sign of cancer. They had her checked out and because she's only a year old they said she was fine and just scratched her nose somehow. They offered to have further testing done, but advised it wasn't worth the money. I will recommend this place to other friends as well. They even called a couple days later to follow up and see how she was doing

Lin “Foodie_”

Over the years I’ve gone to this location the service and the care they once provided has slowly been declining and declining. Staff seem miserable to be there, they keep finding ways to “milk” more money out of pet owners. A bit of a back story I bring my pet there for a yearly exam. Normally what happens he gets his shots, his exam and away we go, but in the midst of a pandemic they now email me reminders. It’s a bonus no complaints never thought anything of it. So I figure ok it’s my pets yearly time to get his exam and his vaccines. 4 months pass and I get another email telling me one of his vaccines are due. At this point I’m scratching my head cause I was just there less than 4 months ago. Odd .... so I call them the girl that picked up there was clueless on what I was talking about I had asked her why is there another exam due and 1 of his vaccines when I just saw you guys. This conversation was painful she looked in my file told me then that oh my pet isn’t due for his exam just the vaccine. So I told her ok I’ll jus book at a latter time then. I book via their website scheduling then receive an email letting me know that it’s a regulation that exams are always done before a vaccination. Understood. So I let Emma know via email that I wasn’t going to pay again for an exam when I literally was there and confirmed whether the bordetella vaccine could wait. Since my dog doesn’t go to groomers or being boarded with other animals I figure I wait. So I got curious, I’ve never had a veterinary place try to double book me like this. So I look through my old receipts I have for my pet. On a regular basis it’s a yearly exam with all of his vaccines if their due, but get this maybe it was a system error but they sent me a reminder 4 months early before he was due for any of his shots or exam! I’m a bit peeved and irritated, if your going to use this location make sure your highly organized and aware of your pets vaccine dates and exam dates cause this made me feel like they tried to pull a fast one and have you paying more then you really need to ..... on another note they will also charge you exam fees for follow ups when their vet prescribes certain medication such as antibiotics and require you to keep following up with them to get more meds for your pets.....

I won't be taking my dog here again. I will start by saying the staff was very nice and compassionate- which I very much appreciated. I went there for an emergency as my dog ate a cob of corn. I wasn't aware how dangerous this could be for a dog and the staff here didn't give provide me with any info. They took an x-ray to see if there were large parts of the cob in her stomach and couldn't see anything but a lot of food in her stomach. Told me she will either need surgery to remove any cob from her stomach or I could choose to induce vomiting, which could cause her to choke a die- choking was something they couldn't deal with there, which I understood. This is all the info I was given. I asked for a recommendation and was told that it's not their dog, they can't recommend anything- just that inducing vomiting was a cheaper option ($250 vs up to $2500). I was made to feel that surgery would be the best option, unless I didn't want to spend that money. I didn't want my dog to die, and would have spent that money if it was necessary, but no recommendation as to the best treatment was given to me. I asked to speak to the vet two times, and was told there's nothing she can tell me. I chose to go to another vet that could deal with her choking aspirating or having corn get stuck in her throat- they never even presented this as an option. I had to choose between a very invasive surgery and and vomiting that I was made to believe was very dangerous and very likely to block her throat, and cause death- and was not "allowed" to even speak to the vet. The only thing they told me is that they can't leave her this way, even though from the x-ray the corn didn't show. The vet finally came in because she had to transfer me, she had a blank stare, said no more than 10 words to me, while I asked what she thought was the best option. She said she could take another x-ray "if I wanted her to." Does she need another x-ray? Would this help you to determine the best treatment option? I understood that it was my choice, but I had to make the choice with no info- I've never seen anything like this. I was annoyed when I left, but didn't realize how little they did for me until I went to another vet clinic, the vet came in, talked to me for 20 minutes about my options. He said there was no way he would do such an invasive surgery on the dog as the x-ray would show large chunks of corn cob, and she's having no symptoms. He said the possible it could pass through because the x-ray clearly shows that there are no large cunks of corn cob- but inducing vomiting would be the best option for her. He said he's never in his career had an issue with induced vomiting. This is what I wanted, I wanted the best option for her, I wanted someone to tell me what they saw based on the 3 ($330) x-rays they took, I wanted to talk to a vet, I didn't want my dog to die and was willing to go through with the best treatment plan for her. I'm happy I went to a better clinic and I'm greatful I didn't put her through such an invasive surgery, when in reality she didn't need it and it would be a greater risk to her.

Lied to, had to wait for hours, vet did nothing, paid the bill, and had to see my pet suffer then slowly die. Don't support this hospital and people working there.

discobrian

Very professional, courteous; answered all my questions and provided a comprehensive evaluation of my dogs health status. Highly recommended.

Gaurav Phatak

Excellent service. I appreciate them helping us in this difficult situation. Thank you.

Serafina Guido

Thankyou for giving my fiancé’s family all the time they needed to say goodbye to there beloved 15 year old dog. You guys were so professional. The options and prices of how to handle the ashes were good. Again Thankyou for in this crazy time we’re living in giving a family all the time and a quiet place for them to say there goodbyes.

Lauren Mosolf

Excellent service. These vets are truly hard working hero's.

Scott Roberts

We very recently lost our pet, The vets and staff at McKnight have been unbelievable in his care over the past 3/4 years as his illness became more prevalent. Dr Lorenza is an absolute gem, her bedside manner with Ted made him so comfortable, the staff at the front are amazing (special thanks and love to Georgia for her unwavering love to Ted). If you want your pet to be loved as he/she is at home, please don't hesitate to bring them to this Veterinary Clinic. We will never forget how great they were in the care of our boy. From our family to your's, the best of luck with your pets and on behalf of Ted, much love to the team at McKnight!! Many thanks forever folks! The Roberts'

Crystal Martinez

Very professional when having to out beautiful cat down.

Phil Lethbridge

I brought my puppy (7 years old) in with an ear infection he's had all his life. With other vets I could see no improvement. After only a week with Dr Skinners meds I could actually see improvement. And now a year on his ears don't stink and are not inflamed and he don't scratch them. I recommend these fine Doctors for your fur babies. It gives me piece of mind knowing I'm getting what's best for my puppy

Kristin von Ranson

Kind, helpful staff. Reasonably priced. They care.

Sheena B

Great place to take your pet! They were very friendly with reasonable prices and were extremely patient not only with the animals but with their owners as well. It was great to see. The team also made sure to go over everything with me and that I understood what they were saying. They also followed up with me a few days later to see how my dog was doing. I'll definitely be going back.

Leanne MacDonald

I want to thank all those who had a hand in ensuring our little miss Ellie was taken care of. Ellie is our rescue from the Dominican and when she got sick Aug 16 after hours, McKnight 24 hour hospital was there for us. We first arrived at midnight but we decided to take her home -(the gal who came to the door did not seem to impressed with our indecisiveness and we decided to go back home - our mistake. 45 min later we were back. The intake gal was so understanding on how scared we were to leave her (we had lost our handsome lab Apr 2020) so leaving our girl was scary. Thank you to the young lady for your understanding. Thank you to the many doctors for taking care and answering all of my questions. Our little family is thankful for your 24 hour service.

R.J Bailot

Dr Remedios and staff at McKnight have always been so amazing to work with. Most recently she helped us out with our Stewy, an amazing little pup that ended up injuring himself which led to him having a tibial crest avulsion fracture. Due to Dr Remedios and her teams knowledge and compassion Stewy is now back to his normal self! A bonus was the cost savings compared to other quotes we had received elsewhere. I should note that Stewy could be a bit a handful, so a special shout out to everyone that worked with him as he required folk willing to be extra patient with him. I will always recommend Dr Remedios to anyone looking for orthopaedic advice for their furry friend!

So let me tell you my experience with this hospital. I called in a panic when I saw my bunny had runny poop and was looking tired when I checked their cage (we check every few hours). The receptionist told me to bring my bunny in and said they could help. I waited 5 hours before a vet looked at her because apparently there was a long surgery and then when the vet finally came in she started googling for answers and flipped though her textbook while I held my little girl. She said let me check and left the room and kept running around to figure out what they could do for her or what’s happened. She later said I could leave her overnight without telling me exactly what they would do and what they could provide for her and was expensive. She gave us a critical care food package and a syringe and send us on our way without actually showing us how to feed her with a syringe. She was stable when we bought her in but was weak and then I later had to watch her slowly die that night. Her painful death had a huge impact on me and my family. This was something that could have been prevented. I called in the next morning and spoke with the manager and she said what else could we have done? And said sorry that they didn’t do anything and she doesn’t know what happened but will talk to the staff. Do Not Go!!!!!!

Audra Leedholm

Money grubby company. Absolutely no regard for the pet owner. Not honest about pricing. They gave me 3 different prices for an ultrasound. Each price higher than the last. They DON'T CARE ABOUT THE ANIMALS

Carolyn White

I still wake up crying. I brought my ferret (Baws) into this place yesterday at 2am due to him having a blockage and he was unable to urinate. I regret ever doing this. When the vet came out she told me that she had seen these type of problems and it could cost up to $2,800-$3,000 to solve the problem.. I recently got laid off and am on EI and had atleast $500.00 on the table to do anything to save my boy. She said it would be pointless.. I broke down, I told her if he is in pain then I have to let him go.. After I say this she insisted I let him go to a ferret rescue program that takes over the treatment and pays for it(only if it is treatable). I said yes to this knowing I wouldn't be able to see him again.. I don't know who would say no to that?. I just want to say that I should of pulled him back and went to another place for help.. I feel as though they assumed I was a bad owner.. I miss my Baws, his brother Paws misses him too and is looking for him.. all I can do is cry, hold Paws and regret ever going to this place. I cant fathom even calling there and asking how he is because I cant even handle him not being with me. I miss you Bawsie... I love you and ill see you again.

I took my dog there a couple of weeks ago. She had ingested some what we believe is marijuana in an off leash park here in Airdrie. I called before I brought her to ask for guidance. Right from the phone call to Monday when I picked her up everyone was extremely helpful and took wonderful care of Cali and she is now on the mend. I can't thank the staff enough for all they did to help her.

Brought my cat heat for a dental to have some teeth pulled after the surgery and brought my cat home found out he had burns on his left side. After investigating found out the vet clinic had used heating pads in the cage after surgery staff at this vet clinic did not check on my pet to make sure he was doing ok while recovering. He was septic and almost died.

Megan Johnstone

The vet emergency vet we saw was emotionless and did not seem to care about the well being of my dog at all. He came in for an allergic reaction and just needed an antihistamine shot. She would tell me she was doing something while doing it and then charged us for it without explaining anything or asking for our consent. It's so hard finding a vet that actually cares for the well being of our animals and aren't crooked as hell ! We will never be back.

Max Forester

Thank You to the Doctor and Nurse who showed such Kindness to my Dog Ruby. I felt such Compation for her.

Jessica Peters

Terrible experience. We took our dog in to have his teeth clean and they extracted 9 teeth and charged us an extra thousand dollars without even a phone call. We singed a paper that said they'd call before any additional treatment yet they completely dismissed our wishes and charged us full prices for treatments we didn't ask for.

I brought my 5 month old Bernese puppy to McKnight when he swallowed a 6 inch bully stick. They were amazing with me and my dog. They got him in immediately and walked me through the whole process that he was going to have to go through. I was an absolute mess and they were very compassionate and patient with me. My dog had to have emergency surgery and they called me as soon as he was out of surgery and constantly kept me updated on his progress throughout the day. When I got him back the next night it was like nothing had happened to him. He was back to his happy playful self. I am very thankful to McKnight and their amazing staff for saving my boy.

Had to take my pup here for a dog bite because my regular vet was closed. Not only are they able to help you 24 hours a day, but they do regular vet visits as well. The vets and vet techs are all soo helpful and friendly. I've been in and out a few times in the last week and all of our visits have been included in the original cost. Will even consider making this our fulltime vet. So thankful for the service they have provided.

We went to McKnight Vet 2 days ago with no hope left for our 17 year old cat, Rookie. But after a detailed and thorough examination 2 nights ago, we have a new plan in place for her and we feel so much better! - Dr. Henderson is absolutely amazing! In 30 years I've never met a vet that is so knowledgeable, caring and helpful. I hope she stays at McKnight Vet for a very long time!! - The staff there are so friendly and helpful. - We received an email with a very detailed report reiterating what we talked about with Dr. Henderson, which was amazing because we received a lot of information and this is invaluable to us! - We love the fact that this is also an emergency hospital because if we ever have to take one of our cats in for an emergency, they already have all of ours cats info right there on file. - Lastly, the price is very reasonable for a visit, we were so surprised but this Emergency Hospital was cheaper than our last vet! Yaaaaay McKnight Vet! You guys rock! Thank you Dr. Henderson from Rookie's mom and dad! ????

I have never had anything but great service and have taken all five of our dogs there

THIS PLACE ONLY CARES ABOUR MONEY!!! THE STAFF ARE NOT TRAINED!! "DR" PATRICIA GUAJARDO DOESN'TKNOW WHAT SHE IS DOING - she actually started GOOGLING for answers and READ her freaking textbook WHEN I BROUGHT MY PET IN AND MY LITTLE GUY LATER DIED THAT NIGHT BECAUSE SHE SEND US HOME WITH A FOOD PACKAGE AND NO OTHER INFORMATION ON HOW TO CARE FOR HIM - DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE ---- MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT GET **** PATRICIA GUAJARDO **** BECAUSE SHE WILL HURT OR KILL YOUR PET ----- Others have had these issues as well!! Read some comments below! Review by -Morgan Messenger- had this issue with her as well!

A phenomenal experience. We had to put our poor pup of 16 years down. McKnight was caring and compassionate on my initial call in, and throughout the process (they even mailed a hand-signed condolences card post-procedure - who does that anymore!?). And they didn't hesitate to go over costs with me on the phone during my initial call. A couple other clinics I called were a bit evasive in this regard, and said "the vet would go over it with me when I came in" (though did eventually reveal the costs by phone). I later discovered why... the two other clinics were MORE THAN TWICE AS MUCH ($$) as McKnight. So not only were they fabulous, they were fabulously affordable. Bravo McKnight vet clinic - keep up the great work. And thanks for taking care of us - and our pup - during this difficult time.

Tanis Lemphers

Extremely angry with the service here. Took our cat in for swollen eye/face. Told it was an abseced tooth root needing immediate extraction. Was told "we refuse to prescribe your cat antibiotics" , how on earth does this make sense? Infection is treated with antibiotics! Called them back again to get some clarification and the girl on the phone actually said "there is nothing more we can do for please do not call us back." UNREAL! All vet clinics are booked for dental until end of September I to next January. Of the 7 we called each and every one of them were absolutely appauled that no antibiotics were prescribed and said that was extremely inhumane to our cat.

James Kowalski

Absolutely garbage service, closes at 5pm on a Friday… staff is miserable I will never take my dog here again.

Darren Smith

Our dog was having digestive issues (you can imagine what that is) and took him one evening. Staff was very energetic and kind to our dog. He’s still a puppy, so can be a lot to handle but they did a great job and were very patient with him.

Doug Picken

A great place for pet care, Dr Lorenza and the other vets and staff are always there for your pet. Thank you

Roxy K

If there was ever a vet to exsist with NO COMPASION what so ever this is where to find them. My dog was hit by a car and nothing was done untill we pre paid for the highest amout and still ended up being $800.00 for stitches...disgusting. You people should be ashamed of yourselves!!!! Where are the good people in this world that help people for the compasion they feel for pets? To take advantage of a persons bank account because they love their pets this is patheticaly disgusting!!!!!

Jess Keuris

Great, helpful and friendly customer service - The girls put up with all of my phone calls and questions when my furbaby was there sick, and even once discharged. Prices are on par with most other vet clinics in the city, service is relatively quick and you can tell the vets actually care/love the animals. The package/care instructions they send you home with is a nice touch.

I have brought my old cat of 18 years to be put down. My other elderly cat for an abscess. My 2 new cats for their... well everything. Just had to take my boy cat in for an emergency appointment and at every turn they have been really great. Being a 24 hour emergency clinic is a bonus and they are REALLY busy but I've only ever had one experience in all my years there that I would consider bad (a callous assistant but in her defence I was DISTRAUGHT). And, when I go away and my friend takes care of my cats I leave them my credit card number for emergencies. There has never been a problem. I recommend.

Solomon Williams

Excellent Staff & Veterinarian is above and beyond. I recommend this Hospital.

So unfortunately we needed to put down our foster dog because she had distemper (we were in the process to adopt her). They told us to go into the room but there was a euthanized dog laying on the counter... they got us to sit back in our car for about 30 more minutes. When they finally cleared the room we had some questions but we were told that the vet “didn’t have time to talk to us”. We were waiting to put our dog down and the receptionist asked us why we weren’t trying to fight for her life... so we asked if there was a chance because we were under the impression that there was nothing we could do. She went to talk to the vet and returned 45 minutes later. She told us that there was nothing to do... I feel like everyone needs to get on the same page when dealing with this stuff! So finally we had the people come in to put the catheter in... they poked our dog several times on 3 different legs our dog was yelping and crying. Finally we got frustrated and asking if they could please get someone who knew what they were doing. They told us to leave and wait outside. They had a third person join while my boyfriend and I waited outside listening to our dog crying... this is the worst experience of my life and this vets office did not make it easier at all. Really dissapointed in the already heatbreaking situation... I hope this never happens to anyone else.

My appointment last week for my dog for an annual checkup and vaccines with Dr Stacey Henderson was great, I felt that she gave me her full attention during the appointment and was fully sincere and interested in hearing about what was going on with my dog, answer the numerous questions I had one by one and helped me plan for an upcoming long distance move with my dog. She took her time with my bouncy dog to gave him a thorough check from nose to tail and he was great for the vaccines. Would highly recommend Dr Henderson as I feel she truly cares for animals and is good at what she does :)

Mariam El Jundi

I came in with shock, and instability with my dog being in the worst shape I had ever seen. The girls at the front desk we're EXTREMELY helpful by getting us into a room right away so my dog and I we're both not overwhelmed. I called before hand and noted that affordability was an issue and the girl on the phone (Ashley) handled it with care, sympathy and understanding to her best knowledge. They took great care of both my dog and an owner in distress, getting us in and out within 2 hours.

I went to the McKnight Veterinary Hospital 3 weeks ago and had to say goodbye to my beautiful 21 year old cat. Everyone at this place is so amazing, so kind, and so thoughtful. They give you all the time you need to spend with your pet to say goodbye. Then they sent me a beautiful sympathy card signed by the staff with her paw print in the centre of a heart. I can’t give this place enough stars. They are all so kind and so caring. They called me as soon as the paw prints were in and were so kind when I went in to pick it up. I highly recommend this hospital for your pets. You definitely won’t be disappointed. I won’t ever forget what they did for my cat and for myself.

Steve Burrell

I had never set foot in this clinic until the night came to say goodbye to our dear family friend, Farley. Late on the a Friday night the staff could see it was difficult time for me. Everyone there was wonderful, simpathetic and compassionate. I would give them five stars for that alone. But what heppend next is truly amazing... about 10 days after we said goodbye to Farley, we received a card in the mail expressing their condolences. What is absolutly astounding is that the several staff had taken the time to personalized hand written little notes inside the card and Farley's Paw print was stamped in the card as well. Thank you for turning a difficult time into something so impactful and meaningful! Truely next level and our family thanks you for helping us remember him during our wonderful 14 years with our friend Farley.

Joy

We had never been here before as it was an Emergency and they were so professional. I liked how they quoted me on the high end so I was prepared for the surgery cost. It turned out less $ than I expected so I was really happy. All the medication details were in print and easy to follow. Thank you from Empress!!!

Amanda Schiltz

We have taken both our dog and cat to McKnight for both routine and emergency needs. The service is exceptional, the staff is extremely knowledgable, the facilities are very clean and meet the needs of each breed and size of animal. Most of all, the care and attention given to our pets by far supersedes any other clinic we have been to.

suzy jung

Brought our dog in with trouble breathing last Wednesday, the receptionists were compassionate, caring and we were taken in to see the vet right away. The vet looked over Bandit, explained the situation that he had CHF, explained the tests needed to be done, costs, a plan for care, we had to leave Bandit in the hospital and had a close call where we almost lost him, but pulled through. They allowed me to come in anytime to visit Bandit and the assistants explained how he was doing. The Vets, and Vet assistants were extremely, caring, compassionate, amazing understanding, explaining the outcome, keeping us informed through out the day and night regarding Bandits health, sympathetic, professional. I would recommend this hospital to anyone who has a urgent sick pet that needs to be seen right away. They never gave up and we were able to bring Bandit home with us :) Even though this was our first time here they staff treated us like we have been comming there for years. Thank you Dr Bruce, Dr Warnakulosooriy, all the Vet assistants, and receptionists for the amazing care you gave Bandit and our family during this difficult time.

Hazel Flood

I wanted to send a special thank you to all the staff that helped me and my family when we had to make a very difficult decision. Our 14 1/2 yr old girl, Jessie was unable to walk and did not seem to want to continue on. They showed us such care and support through out the whole process. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.

ashley martindale

Staff is awesome and the facility itself is very clean. Went in with our sick puppy, and I was devastated the nurses and staff were really helpful and kind. They also provided great resources to what to watch for, and other great things for her.

Celine Bisaillon

I brought my Chihuahua in for a checkup, I have nothing but great things to say, they took such good care of my girl.. AMAZING service and great prices. I wouldn't trust any other vet with my princess.

WARNING!!!!! : I recently brought my dog there to get her teeth cleaned. Because she was 9 years old (young for a small dog) they said she needed a senior screen; a blood test and a urine test before the procedure. This precautionary test was routine, it involved taking urine from the bladder to test for a UTI. I was assured by Dr. Rubinstein that there was no danger or pain involved with this procedure. However, this caused a vaso-vagel response, (After they killed my dog I went home and typed in the name of the test that they performed into the internet and within 30 minutes I was able to find out why my little girl died).I understand this happens, I get it, It is reversible and responds immediately to basic fluid bolus, maybe a vasopressor in the later stages. They were adamant that her sudden lethargy was a result of an underlying medical cause - again, I get it, in medicine you look for underlying causes. This is where I seriously question their medical capabilities. They literally told me that it could be pulmonary edema, or cancer and wanted 2000$ in tests... MY DOG WALKED IN HERE PERFECTLY FINE, I pleaded with them that she did not have a history of cardiomyopathy or respiratory problems - they told me 'Sometimes this can happen'. Oh? pulmonary edema can kill a dog without a signal manifestation of a physical symptom? News to the medical community. The differential diagnoses of cancer was also ridiculous, a cancer so pathophysiological it manifests itself and kills a dog in a matter of hours? The critical thinking of these juveniles is quite simply non existent. The simplest answer is often the right one, my pleas that their differential diagnoses were not of acute origin were met with discontent. They need a whole plethora of tests to diagnose the simplest of ailments. A trained monkey can do that. If you are looking to put your dog down, yes I would say this vet clinic is adequate, I have read several good reviews of the sort. If you have the financial means to order every test under the sun for an ingrown claw, yes these are the vets for you. If you require critical thinking on a emergent basis, stay away from these psuedo-educated cretins. Their caviler, money-grubbing attitude was annoying and heartless (another story).. THEIR INEPTITUDE IS DANGEROUS! They killed my precious little girl.

Laura-Jeanne Stollery

We got the best care for our rabbit at McKnight! We were distraught when our bunny was not himself, but the care he received at the pet hospital was more than we could have wanted. They were kind, knowledgeable, kept us updated, gave us options and helped our beloved pet get back on his feet. I cannot say enough about every staff person we met at this hospital.

I Santos

We’ve had a couple emergencies where we’ve taken our dog here, and also a knee surgery. The staff have been very caring and attentive with us and our pup. They always explain everything so well and kept us very informed. It’s true, the wait times are crazy now, to the point where it’s difficult to even reach anyone. That’s very frustrating, but we have to keep in mind that they are extremely understaffed and overworked. As frustrated as I am, I can’t imagine how they must feel now trying desperstely to keep up with an inundation of demand. While the current situation is not ideal, I actually want to thank them for how much they are accomplishing to keep our pets in good health.

Janeil Funk

I had an emergency in the middle of the night with my 9 week old puppy. The vet and staff were so calm and patient; took excellent care of my puppy, and answered all my questions. They are fantastic. Highly recommend! Thank you :)

Bryan Banton

When you book appointment make sure to have the person's name or else they will lose your place with appointment

Nolan Witts-Reich

I was going through a really tough time with my dog. Dr. Leslie (can’t remember her last name) was absolutely phenomenal. She helped us to a diagnosis and treatment plan. All the while being very patient and understanding. Very nice to have had this experience despite COVID procedures. I would highly recommend this practice and Dr. Leslie in particular.

Paul Hunt

We had to bring our senior german shepherd to the McKnight 24 hour animal hospital because our regular clinic was closed. The treatment and service we received was second to none. The staff was great, they took him in right away the doctor explained the problem and treatment to us very well. Being a weekend after hour emergency visit I thought the bill would have been a lot more then it was. In the future if we have to bring one of our pets back, we would do so without hesitation. Thank you for taking sure good care of our boy

Michelle Keitges

Awful experience at this vet. We rushed here after our 11 month old puppy was hit and killed by a car. Absolutely devastated and in shock from the accident. We were met by staff that were incredibly insensitive and looking to profit off our pain. They kept rushing us to make a decision with our sweet puppies body that we were not prepared to make. Wanted to charge us $220 dollars for her ashes on top of the emergency and cremation fees. Our puppy weighed 4 pounds and would have barely filled the urn they had plus this is our dog and we should have had the choice to keep her ashes after paying the cremation fee. They kept rushing us to make a decision and leave the room as we were holding our dead babies body. They kept saying another family needed the room but it was not our plan to lose our baby that day or be at the vet. They did not give us the option to come back later or make a decision at a later time as we were in shock and not in any state to make any of those decisions after the tragic and sudden accident. I am sad that we were not met with more compassion and understanding as they are suppose to be the experts in dealing with these types of situations. I am sad that we had to deal with so many different staff members that had not been briefed on the accident and came to us thinking we were just putting our dog down not that she had just been killed. I am sad that they did not recognize our shock and pain and try to approach the situation with more kindness and sympathy.

I am only giving this one star only to be able to write this review. I came here on a Sunday afternoon 2 weeks ago, because our 3 month old puppy had jumped off a bed and hurt her leg, she was only brought here because our vet was closed and I thought this was an Emergency Vet and they would be the best place in case of a break. On the initial visit the vet told us we we’re lucky no break or fracture and it was just a sprain. So they told us because it looked as though she may have torn a tendon or a ligament that putting her in a cast for 4-6 weeks, I agreed we wanted the best for her, so they gave her anesthesic to apply the cast and a bunch of pain meds and sent us on our way. Costing $600. We werent even home for 24 hours and the cast fell off, took her back and it was replaced. She was scheduled to have her last puppy vaccines at our vet a week later, where he suggested take her back and see if her leg could be splinted instead, went back they did more X-rays from a different vet, who once again confirmed no break no fracture. Splinted her leg and we left paying $160. We took our puppy to our vet on Thursday because we were to schedule a dressing change. He asked for all information to be sent over from McKnight so he could continue her care for the time being of her splint. That’s when he showed us a very very noticeable fracture in the growth plate of her leg on the X-rays McKnight sent over, we decided to get the X-rays viewed by a radiologist to make sure that this was right. Less than 24 hours later, we get the results and it is indeed a fracture and now our puppy requires a $3000 dollar surgery that should have been caught 2 weeks ago. I put my faith in these people because I thought they were the right place to be giving it was an emergency. But honestly as of right now, I’m not sure I’d trust them with a wheel barrow let alone an animals life. Thanks for royally screwing me and my injured animal around. ????

unknown unknown

my dog needed insulin within one hour because i ran out. told them it was an emergency and she needs her shot. they would not sell the insulin, told me to call another vet. they said the techs have to fill it and they are so busy they do not have time. it's a poor excuse, anyone can fill the insulin you just need to grab it off the shelve which takes maybe one minute. very poor customer service and consideration for sick animals. policies need to be changed to accommodate diabetic dogs.

Michael Ilnycky

Hi, why did you eliminate appointments for regular check ups?

Sweet Ruby Bluez

This vet clinic has always gone above and beyond for us!

Dawn Fildes

This facility provides superb care 24/7/365. We make the journey in from Airdrie with all our dogs.

Cj James

McKnight Vet is second to none and in particular Dr. Remedios has been an absolute Godsend to my Jada girl. Truly. I'd give 10 stars if I could! Anyone who says bad things about this place or Dr. Remedios has misunderstood something. Dr. Remedios has been giving my Jada incredible care and support for almost two years, and much of it an email away for free! Incredible what she has done for us. I am so grateful. I took my sweet 14 yr old with a 4 pound tumor on her leg to Dr. Remedios after a referral from another Vet clinic (that says something right there) and she did a truly amazing job with the surgery, the after care and every old dog issue imaginable since. No one cares more about our fur babies than Dr. Remedios! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all you have done for Jada and I.

Katie Mae

Dr Alice, Dr Zhao and team were absolutely amazing to us this week when we had to visit them twice! The clinic was easy to book with, quick to get in and very reasonably priced. My little feline munchkin has had horrible diarrhra for a couple of weeks. This is so far much better since our 2nd visit with some antibiotics and a special food. I very much appreciate the time and care they give to both pet and pet momma! Will be going there for all of his routine visits from now on!

Sheldon Feakes

I brought my GSD in for an emergency and they treated me like I went there all the time. Very reassuring, friendly staff and vets. Might be my new vet! Highly recommend!!

Rob Grant

This is an excellent vet clinic all staff are friendly and knowledgeable, prices are very reasonable, they emailed me reminders for my dogs shots (which I needed), I highly recommend taking your pet there

Katie Heinrich

We brought in a kitten who had fallen and broken blood vessels in her eye as a result. She had a red eye that wasn't dilating regularly and was acting woozy, so we brought her in for a quick exam. We didn't wait long, were impressed with the expertise of our vets and vet techs, and very relieved at the cost of an emergency visit. Exam plus meds, and it was at a rate that left our pocketbook mostly intact. Will be recommending to family and friends, and will absolutely return if we have need. Great service, from great staff.

Allan Farley

My dog's appointment was fast, thorough and all my concerns were addressed. It was reasonably priced, and the vet and the staff were all a pleasure to deal with.

Tracey Forbes

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Lisa Scott and the rest of the staff at McKnight Vet Hospital. Our older diabetic cat started having seizures on our bed in the middle of the night. We thought it was due to his diabetes. I had never been to this clinic before but when I called they were amazing and ready for us as soon as we arrived. We arrived about 1:30 a.m. and they immediately tested his glucose level and determined right away that it wasn't his diabetes. To make a long story short his seizures were getting progressively worse and we made the difficult decision to end his suffering. Dr. Scott and the staff were so good with him and with us in such a difficult time. It was like they had known us for years and he was their own pet. If anyone is looking for a vet, I suggest you call and book an appointment with Dr. Scott. She is amazing! I don't normally write reviews but given that we lost our cat that night, it's even more apparent to me how great they were. I cannot thank them enough for making a horrible situation as easy as it could possibly be.

Angela Wong

Never, ever, EVER again! I had to visit this atrocious vet hospital because it was the closest and my vet clinic wasn't open yet. At first the place seemed very friendly and welcoming. Until I had to come across Dr. Thusari Warnakulasooriya. It took this clinic an hour to finally give me a full update without letting me know what my pet was doing in the back. The vet came out and instantly laid out how much I had to pay with a range of $350-$800 depending if my pet needed surgery or not which I found very strange and unnecessary. I then told her I was a full time student with 2 part time jobs just to pay monthly dues. She instantly gave me a dirty and judgemental look and told me either I go with this route or an organization she mentioned would take over. Assuming she was threatening me that I either pay up or my dog gets taken away from me. That instantly offended me. I refused to agree with her and she finally decided that surgery wasn't needed. I then told the staff how I was not pleased with her and all they told me was to call. If I could, I wouldn't even give them a star. This clinic gives a bad reputation to all vets. Never coming back.

Vashti Frost

I can't stress this any stronger... NEVER take your pet to this place!! If i could give them zero stars, i would!! The vet here basically killed my cat due to his lack of attention and concern about my cats well being. They kept her overnight, charged me $2100, just to tell me the next day I could come pick her up because she now "seemed fine". When I asked what was wrong with her, he answered, "we don't know... could be this, could be that". They sent me home with her looking worse than when she went in and gave me NO ANSWERS!! 4 days later i'm having to put my cat down. That vet said (after looking at McKnights notes), "I don't like to point fingers, but if that vet has done his job, we wouldn't be here right now". Turns out it was her pancreas, which then led to liver issues. If he had done his job and sent me home with simple antibiotics to deal with her pancreas, i would still have my baby here today! I AM BEYOND ANGRY!!!!!! If you care about your pet/family member, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! Update: I have no intention of contacting McKnight vets as they have suggested. What would it change? My baby is still gone!! Plus, at least show me the courtesy of getting my name right!

Kelli Knezevich

They keep hostage of your animals

Dawna Morrison

I have taken lots of my beloved pets here ! We rushed our tiny chi ( Georgia )there after she became ill. They took amazing care of her including a blood transfusion. I am beyond grateful for the care she received as they saved her life. She was in the hospital for six days and they welcomed daily visits and many many phone calls. I wish I could give them 100 stars

Kelly Tong

My bad that I thought this is an emergency hospital but they do NOT have the resources to deal with all emergency situations. Reason for 1 star is after $350 of check up fees and some x-rays, we were referred to take our dog to Western Emergency Center downtown. We inquired about C.A.R.E., but staff says that CARE is more expensive and they prefer Western. Once we arrived Western, they did not have any specialist there until 2 days later. After another 1.5 hours killed at Western, we headed down to CARE. At CARE, not only the bill was significantly more reasonable, the staff was definitively more professional and definitively more caring. I don't know why the special bond between McKnight and Western, but when in doubt, HEAD TO C.A.R.E (by IKEA) DIRECTLY!! Save on your first bill and false information provided by McKnight

Shayleen Richtik

This is by far the best vet clinic. I have been taking my dog there for almost 11 years and I have never had a bad experience. The staff are all amazing and very dedicated to all of their patients. Dr. Rix and team have helped me so much over the years, as I had a very sick dog who was there all the time, and unfortunately just recently passed. But through all those years they we so supportive and understanding. I'll never change vet clinics, they are like family here!

Hanna Kramer

I can't stress enough how amazing every person I spoke with at this vet clinic was. I'd taken my sick cat to a closer emergency clinic first but they had treated me very poorly. I'm so glad I decided to try another clinic, because not only were all the staff so much more empathetic and kind; the vet I spoke with was very understanding of my tight financial situation and broke down exactly what all the costs were and what my options looked like. She checked with me at every step to make sure I understood exactly what she was doing and that I was okay with it. I left my boy overnight and they took such good care of him. I got frequent updates about his condition and when I picked him up they gave me all the medicine he'd need and good suggestions to help him recover. Thanks to the staff there, my boy recovered perfectly and I didn't have to pay for an expensive surgery because they took care of him properly. Thank you so much.

Julia Caldwell

The staff were fantastic and we were able to get in very quickly. They were great with our fear/anxiety reactive rescue pup. Would definitely come here again

Krakalak

Our cat was quite lethargic in the early morning, throwing up and blood in the stool. We took her to McKnight to be looked at. They took her right in and we were never left wondering what was happening. Regular follow ups by the vets, no actions taken without consulting ourselves and given options on how to proceed. We never felt we were being pushed and were part of all the decisions. We talked to three different vets over almost 2 days here and all were professional, friendly and easy to talk to. I also want to mention all the assistants who were so busy running animals in and out due to COVID and trying to make the best they could out of what COVID has forced on all of us. Much thanks to all you folks. Your care of our feline will not be forgotten and you will be recommended.

Monica Khaira

I had a horrible experience this veterinary clinic. My pup periodically has horrible joint pain and needs medication to recover. My regular vet has always been the one to guide me through his quality of life. I called asking for pain medication so he can rest before we see his regular vet because we have been there for an emergency once for the last two years. I had the vet Dr. Wood yell at me telling I’m a horrible dog owner for not putting him down because of joint pain. She should understand she doesn’t have the right to say that when she had never met my dog or seen his condition.. AVOID DR WOOD WITH ALL COSTS!!!!!! She should not make judgments when she has not seen your dog

Meghan H

I've meant to write this review years ago, but I believe the importance of my visit is still relevant today. When I popped in a few years back with my dog after I'd suspected she'd eaten something she shouldn't have, we were seen by Dr. Shelby. While she was quite kind and we did some charcoal on my pup to extract anything bad from her system, Dr. Shelby took the opportunity to do an exam (which was nice) but then proceeded to up-sell me Royal Canin Dental formula and heartworm medication. So, keeping in mind I'm worried my dog was poisoned, I left that clinic with dental food and extra medication. Her sales tactics were long and drawn out "we can get heart worms too you know" and "I went to the factory where they make the food and they put a paint-covered screw through the food and it took the paint off!". I later found a vet who was experienced in teeth and promoted brushing my dog's teeth and even sent me a youtube video he made on how to. I would much prefer a primary care provider for my pet who teaches on how to prevent versus he's kibble that contributes to plaque and tartar and causes it but is also abrasive. I left devastated. I later found out Dr. Shelby may have been one of the owners of the clinic and I felt completely dooped. I feel like she took advantage of me as a scared pet parent. I went in concerned about ingestion of something bad and left with awful food my dog wouldn't eat and medication she didn't need. She was a nice person, but my advice to anyone visiting here is hopefully you receive primary care when needed and your visit isn't used an an opportunity to gets sales for the clinic

Personally don't like this veterinary clinic, and don't go out of my way to recommend and I only take my dog here for dire emergencies. I have NEVER had a good experience with them, ever. The latest bad experience was with my pup who passed away. We had to humanely euthanize him, and the vet who was working (the female vet with an accent) was cold and inattentive. We had to physically leave the room and go into the back to locate her, after she said "just knock on the door when you need me". When she came in to preform the euthanasia, she gave him his injection and didn't even bother to check him properly to see if he was gone. She simply glanced over her shoulder and said "he's gone" and Left. The technician who came in after, told us we would recieved his paw prints in the mail in about a week, and we could sit and say our goodbyes and to knock on the door when we were ready to leave. We said our goodbyes and again, had to go into the back to get someone. We were met with "ya ya we'll be right there". We gave our little guy a last kiss goodbye. We sat outside in our car for about a half hour, and we could see into the exam room from our car, the entire time we were there, no one can to get our boy. I maybe could understand if it was busy, but we were there at 3:30 AM and it was a ghost town there. Fast forward 2 1/2 months after we put our boy down, we still have yet to receive his paw prints. We were told a week, and it's been almost 3 months. I wasnt going to post a review, because I can just boycott them. But after not receiving his paw prints and this whole experience leaving an even worse taste in our mouths that was already there, ive decided to post our experience. There far better clinics, 24 hr included, that are better priced and treat you better.

Terrible experience please don't bring your pets here. After my little brothers kitten got really sick my mom brought her here. When they went to take a blood sample they said she was anemic and needed a blood transfusion before anymore work could be done. I talked to the vet on the phone and she told me that the transfusion would be $700 and another $300-$500 depending how long she would be there for. Knowing how much this kitten meant to my brother I said go ahead with it I had a good feeling that she would be able to pull through. A few minutes later the vet call me back and says she screwed up and it's actually going to cost $2,000!!! Which was getting out of my range of what I could afford. I asked how she screwed this up and she said she was a new hire and not aware of the prices and she's do up an official quote. Which then came back at $2,000-$3,000. So we had to make the choice to put kitty down :( The problem I have with this is she gave us all false hope that we would be able to afford to give kitty a fighting chance, just to take it away with an "oops I'm new here"

The lady that I talked to seems to be High on something and doesn’t care about my dogs condition so I hanged up. If I were you I would go somewhere else where they would care about my puppy as much I care about my babies. Called on July 25,2021 at 4:15 pm.

I recently had my male cat in for a urinary blockage which required him to stay for 2 nights. The vets and vet techs there were nothing short of amazing and compassionate. Thanks to their help, my kitty is happily recovering at home. They provided us with updates regularly and kept us informed every step of the way. I am so grateful for this place!

Danielle Polsom

Everyone here was so nice and supportive. Our little dog had seizures and they made the best out of a horrible situation.

Came hear a year or so ago, late night for my dog and saw a female doctor. She misdiagnosed an infection. This is excusable. What is not excusable is that she tried to prescribe a powerful (and, of course, expensive) sedative for the "pain" our dog was supposedly experiencing. This was a surprise to us as there was no sign that she was in pain at all. When the nurse/assistant was about to administer it I stopped her to ask questions. Even she was into the act by saying that they can't know for sure but the dog "might" be in pain. Good thing I refused the sedative. When I got back home our dog was as happy and pain free as could be. This was quite a while ago but I still feel upset. I wonder how many dog owners they have taken advantage of. I started a joke -- The only thing worse than a lawyer is a ... which is a really sad thing to say.

McKnight's staff is nothing short of amazing. They truly care about the well being of your animal, we have had a few emergencies and needed to come here more often than we would of wanted. They saved my dog sawyers life on numerous occasions and I'm super thankful for that. Each visit after has been amazing, my dog loves the staff here and gets excited soon as he realizes where he is and I think they love my dog just as much as he loves them. The on call emergency vets here are even wonderful and very knowledgeable. This is by far my favorite vet in the city. Fair prices and great service.

Jason M

The staff at the McKnight veterinary hospital were incredibly friendly and very understanding when we had to put our dog to rest. They made us feel very comfortable and were understanding. The vet who we delt with was also very friendly and sympathetic, and made sure to present all of our options to us. I would highly recommend them.

Byron Hill

Great place. Works with you not against you. Sure its not the cheepest place in the city but they gave me 4 options for treatment to poochie i ask about a 5th and they were all about helping me. They informed me of the things i should be looking out for and sent me on my way full of knowledge and will power. Also stated that if poochie was still sick by morning they would exam him free of charge. GO HERE for the 24hr hospital care you pet deserves

G M

The vet we had Dr.B was rude, and very mean. SHe took advantage of us by overcharging us 300.00. I have a mental handicap-Capp and she left me crying . This doctor made sure we wouldn't go back again by insulting and over charging us.

Karl Tanner

They are way too pricy, take your pets to a vet that is outside the city

David Robertson

Got in quickly to see the vet when our pup was sick

ivy clark

My doberman got bit in the ear by another dog. These guys tried to pressure me into getting him $1300 worth of stitches, telling me his ears wouldnt heal if I didnt, anything she could to make me fee bad. Told her I'd take him home and keep an eye on him. Completely scabbed over and fine the next day. Money grab. Take your babies somewhere else.

Joseph Mason

This is one of the only places in the city that does ferret care. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I have taken my ferrets here for years. They were very supportive and understanding when one of my ferrets had a cyst and had to be put down. I was able to get a plaque with her paw prints and a message to remember her by.

Jeremy Leavitt

The worst! If you've got an emergency, don't bring your pet here, they won't address it right away.for any number of excuses they cited, didn't have staff available, other cases were higher priority. Which I can understand, but a minor open wound was left untreated, not addressed in any way until 16 hours later! Wound treated with stitches, but infection has set in. They care only about money here.

Kristie Mantle

Words can’t even describe how I feel about this clinic, I recently had to put my beloved cat down and I couldn’t believe how caring and compassionate their staff was. They made us feel like we were the only ones there. I honestly believe he passed at peace because he was cared for right up to his last moments. I will never be able to thank you enough for the support you’ve shown my family through this tough time

Jillian Walsh

Pre pandemic, I recommended McKnight vet to everyone who asked, they were empathetic and happy to help, Now, nope, cold, rude, money grabbers now, and that's if they answer your call. Have spent 6 hours on hold in the last 24 hours and have still not spoken with anyone. Made the mistake of telling my neighbor to go there when his Dog had an emergency, they made him sit in the parking lot for 4 hours, he finally left and drove to okotoks, the pup barely made it, another 30 min and it would have been too late. Do not take your creatures here, they simply do not care. The I'm sorry/excuses replies here from McKnight vet are hollow and lacking any concern

Fanny L

Prince had been going to McKnight since we brought him home in 2019. McKnight has always taken good care of our Prince and communicated there findings. Their action plan are well thought out and explained to give owners the best option.

April Billings

Yesterday was the first Veterinary visit at the McKnight Hospital & after this visit I will not be taking my pets anywhere else! Being that this is a pet hospital emergencies are given priority which is understandable. When I brought my cat in there was a lot of pet emergencies but I didn't have to wait long and what really surprised me was that when my cat was getting his check up Dr. Skinner did not rush the appointment at all! He took his time to check over my pet and answer all of my questions in detail! Dr. Skinner has been the only Veterinarian that has given me in depth information about my cats condition! This clinic is all about providing the best possible care for your animals! Dr. Skinner informed me about arising issues that will need to be taken care of later for my cat, giving me a heads up about the cost so it wouldn't be a surprise later on. This clinic is not after you money they truly care for animals and want to provide the best care for your pets! Thank you!

Mary-Ann Kiss

In my books this is a great place to take your pets. You can get appointments 7 day's a week. I have been going there for many year's. My Husky love's the vet's & the staff. She gets so spoiled by everyone in there.

Sonya Snow

Telling someone to surrender their pet of 5 years because they cant afford your services is inhumane. We just spent every cent we had on last nights procedure at your hospital and today hes not any better. Would you surrender your baby? Disgusting

Saria James-Thomas

My bunny broke his leg and through the entirety of his treatment, I have received nothing but exceptional services, fair prices and hope. Their wait times are pretty long, but, they give you the option of dropping your pet off then coming back to get them when everything’s all done. The staff are friendly and offer helpful solutions.

Angie

If you treasure your pet, DO NOT bring them here! You might as well bring them to the aspca. While waiting to see a vet, I saw more urns being handed back than animals being picked up. They're unwilling to work with owners (financially) to save animals and would rather sell you cremation services and urns. A shame to the vet industry!

Nicole Garland

Brought our little guy in for a broken dew claw, the staff were very helpful.

Prableen Dhot

My little girl was not feeling to well i called in to find out what there wait times were and the ladies at the front desk were friendly and honest! Headed over and was standing in front of the ladies for 15 mins as they were on the phone. Waited about 30 mins then got taken in as we were walking in the Vet met another client and i was told to wait again for another 10 mins. Finally got in and the vet again asked me to wait as she had to do something else. Finally the visit continued and the Bill was high up there. Overall experience was good

Jackie McConnell

Only posting 1 star because 0 is not an option. I read the positive reviews, and I'm certain we cannot be speaking about the same place! We brought our rottweiler there this afternoon, as he was not putting any weight on his front paw, and it was swelling at the joint. Before taking him there I called and asked a few questions, such as "what if we cant afford his treatment". I was told not to worry, that no animal would be turned away in an emergency and there were many payment plan and financing options available. Now, the bill for an xray, sedation, and pain medication (no actual treatment), is near $600 and well over the amount of the quotation. The $100 deposit we paid is miraculously "not showing in their system". We applied to their financing and just got a system error stating their was an error processing the application, and to contact customer service. Conveniently, customer service is not open until Tuesday. They have now told us that we have until 5 am to pay the bill in full or they will call the police and have us charged with abandonment. What can we do when everything is closed? They never told us prior to seeing him that we couldn't apply for help until Tuesday, or that we would be charged by police if we didn't pay immediately, or that the deposit we were giving them was just free money because it wouldn't show up on their computer. Their suggestion was to call everyone we know and figure it out. How is this ok? How is this LEGAL? How many other people have had cash deposits pocketed by employees and then told it's not in the system? Obviously they don't care because they look at us as low income or trash because we don't have $600 on hand. We are supposed to wed this coming Saturday, and have put everything we have into our wedding. Now we cannot, because that deposit we paid them was everything we had, and was set aside to purchase our marriage license. We have 3 crying children asking why our dog cant come home, worrying that the police are coming to take their father, and devastated that mom and dad will no longer be getting married. This was not just poor service, they have literally turned the lives of 5 people upside down, and have shown 0 understanding, compassion, or in any way tried to assist. If you love your animal, take them elsewhere! I have been in contact with local news media, and they are looking into it. If you've had a similar experience I advise doing the same!

If I ever need an animal hospital again, this is the one I will go to. One year ago they worked a miracle on my dog's leg. A driver was speeding through a school zone in a cross walk!!!! and hit both my husband and my leashed dog. Penny got it the worst with her back leg totally shredded. We didn't think she would live, never mind walk again. The skilled surgeon pieced her tendons back together and did such a beautiful job with many, many stitches inside and out. She looked like Franken-dog but today, you would never know it. Her fur has mostly grown back. Yet it is her ability to run and jump, even without a major tendon, that is astounding! I waited to do my review so that I can honestly say that the work to save Penny was exceptional. There were no complications, no infection after surgery and today our six year old dog is almost as good as new. We are so grateful for the care Penny received here. Thanks so very much!

Rebecca Cross

I called the vet hospital yesterday morning to see if I could get an exam appointment for my dog the next day. I was able to get in after work which was so helpful to have the clinic open for appointments late in the evening. When I went it there were two emergencies that had just come in so I had to wait a few extra minutes but that was understandable- just like in your own doctors office emergencies have to come first. I was very impressed by how kind and helpful the staff at the front desk were even when one of the people who came in was quite rude. I got in to see a very caring doctor and I have now found my forever vet clinic. It also helps that the costs were quite reasonable. Thanks McKnight vet hospital!!!

Lisa Vedres

This is by far the best place to bring your animals. I brought my dog to another vet 4 times they couldn't find what was wrong. I brought her here one visit they found out they took the time to find what was wrong now she is well on her way to recovery thanks to the team here. Love this place and the team they are fantastic and a special thanks to Dr. Vanessa

Aly J

They are very compassionate, I came in with my dog who was critical. They were so understanding and caring and guided us to the right decision. One of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make that night but they were so accommodating. I had a horrible day, but they tried their hardest to make it unhorrible. So thank you, and Goldie thanks You.

Jennie Thomas

Never again! Had to take my dog in for an emergency procedure, and from the beginning the experience was horrible. I would not recommend them. Everything from the care received, to their pricing was beyond ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and do not bring your furbaby in. They are only getting 1 star because zero was not an option.

Alice

The allegations of this place "paying" people to leave good reviews is ridiculous. Some people genuinely have a good experience, and therefore leave good reviews. The people at this clinic are amazing and genuinely care about the animals they're looking after. The fact that they're 24 hours helps out in those after-hours times of distress. Though they can be busy, it is to be expected at an EMERGENCY clinic, and that can sometimes mean that your wait time will be longer than you had hoped. The fact that they care for those in more serious condition first should be a good sign to owners in the waiting room, as that means they're pet isn't doing as badly as somebody else's. I recommend this place to everyone who's looking for a clinic. Keep up the good work!

I brought an injured dying cat to be saved. At the vet I asked to try to adopt him if he doesn't have an owner. They told me that because he was not mine and a stray I would have to pay to adopt him through CHS, which I was fine with. I asked if I could take him to another 24/7 vet clinic and they said i was not allowed because legally he needed help now, I wanted to take him to another vet that would be more willing to work with me. They said I was not allowed. Now I am in a position where i want to help save this cat and they will not let me. I called later that day to see if he was okay and alive and they refused to tell me. The lady was very short and rude on the phone. I have called CHS every day as I really want to provide this cat care and love and the vet to see if he his owner has been found. They refused to tell me anything due to confidentiality. Which i understand, but i am not asking any personal information just if he is okay and if i should keep calling CHS to adopt this cat. All i am asking for is "Yes keep trying with CHS or no sorry" I am not asking for any personal information, just if i should keep calling CHS everyday to adopt. I think it is completely ridiculous that i can call any hospital and see if a person has been checked in but i cannot know if this CAT I saved is alive, dead or if i should continue to pursue adoption. All three times i have called they have been short and rude. They seem to worry more about money and not about people who care about animals more than them! They have completely ruined the adoption process of trying to save this cats life. I WILL NEVER BRING ANY ANIMAL HERE EVER AGAIN!!!! If I had known they were going to be so inconsiderate i would have went to a vet emergency i trusted instead of trying to find the closest one to me. The CHS has been amazing and willing to help provide me with closure or the process to adopt but have not received any information from the vet either.

The Folks at McKnight care about your pet... concern and care...wouldnt think twice about referring them .... peace of mind place

Lucy Sandoval

Unprofesssional and incompetent staff. They're hungry for money and don't care about animals. They take advantage of owners who love for their pets in order to get money. This vet hospital is in it for the money and while you are there they will try and push everything they can on you. If you love and care about your pet go anywhere else. My husky has some intermittent blood and yellow discharge. No big concern because he is not in pain, he is eating, drinking and sleeping well. I want to rule out any complication before It get worse. I was asking for a routine blood work and urynalisis. They were able to get a blood sample after shaving parts of my dog's both legs when the general consensus unless there is a medical emergency your Husky should not be clipped or shaved ???? After 1hr 1/2 waiting in the parking lot (because of Covid-19 pet owners are not allowed to enter to the building) the vet "Doctor" asked me for over $1000 to get an urynalisis because they only draw urine after doing an ultrasound and sedation. What??? After disagreeing over the phone, I wanted my dog back. Fortunately, they brought my dog to the front door and I took it. If a vet hospital is unable to perform basic routine tests, they won't be able to get done properly other medical procedures. I wanted to add my experience because maybe pet owners will be more careful about places like this and the hospital staff will reflect about their practices that are unsafe for animals.

Aaron Phillips

First of all, most people who rate 1 star are whinny little city people who want a perfect world and their opinions aren't worth much. Yeah pets die at the vet, and people die at hospitals, not because they are at the hospital, but because there is something that brought them to the vet / hospital in the first place. Last night I dealt with a handful of different staff members in the middle of the night for my 8 year old dog who bit a porcupine. Each staff member was friendly and competent. They took good care of my dog and in a reasonable time and for a reasonable price. My experience was perfectly fine, I've been there before and I will go back again if I need to, emergency or not. 4/5 price was reasonable, but maybe a bit high

Sez You

Excellent staff. They took amazing care of a puppy I adopted who had parvo. I couldn't be happier with the care they gave my little guy.

Lisa Camozzi

They take time to listen.. The dr that my cat went to shows he is understanding staff is awesome.. And they are not expencive.. You guys arr amazing friendly caring vet!! Thanx for all your support and help...

alana issler

The care and compassion this hospital showed to us when we had to say goodbye to our pet was beyond our imagination. We just got our little girls ashes back, and that too was done with more class then I have ever encountered with other pets I have gotten back. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the love, care, and support, you have shown us and our little Keena.

Vicki Anne

I took my little girl in on Sunday, I am a full time student with limited income. Which has no bearing on my ability to care for my animals. Any how, after having bloodwork done I was told my girl has diabetes, along with liver and thyroid issues. My low end estimate was over 4000.00 and high end 6500.00 alternatively if I could not afford treatment with in the next 12 to 24 hours I had to put her down. It was implied by the vet that I had no choice, and if I did not treat her I was a bad pet owner. I brought her home without treatment with the internet to take her back later that day once our goodbyes were done. After feeling bullied into accepting killing my girl was the only option, I reached out to friends and was told to get a second oppinion. The next day I took my girl to another vet, and yes she is diabetic. She will be coming home almost as good as new AND ALIVE with the cost of treatment being 470.00 not the 4300.00 McKnight wanted or alternatively in the little ceramic urn. The second oppinion vet has said nothing about her liver or the thyroid like McKnight, and I provided copies of the original bloodwork report so they could see what the starting levels were. If YOU LOVE YOUR FUR BABY dont go here, or in the alternative get a second oppinion before bullied into euthanasia. My girl will now live a long happy life with insulin rather then in a urn if I would have taken the advice of professional I'm counting on to help out in time of on emotional crisis.

This Vet feels like a store with a specialized sales team in the back pushing to make the sale by playing on the love you and your families have for your pet. We took our dog here every couple months for almost 3 years in a futile attempt at resolving his skin condition. We were told that it was allergies- switched food 9 times! Limited his contact to outside world and other animals as we were told that he could be allergic to anything from our house cat to the grass in the back yard. Finally, we gave up after they wanted to bill us $500 to test him for range of things not allergy related when we insisted it was not an allergic reaction. Every time we went in we got a different vet and the response as always the same wow he’s a big dog I’m not used to big dogs like this. On our last visit got a lecture about not buying pet insurance because if we had “these tests wouldn’t be a problem” The last 2 visits the vet didn’t even exam the dog just read his chart and said well he has allergies there is nothing we can do about this “have you tired our food” (their food that has a lower protein count then many of the foods available on the market.) The same week as our last visit we found a new vet and on our first visit he prescribed a $10 anti-fungal shampoo. Gave him a bath with the shampoo and a problem we had for over 3 years cleared up in a day!!!

Heather Quinn

The staff seem to genuinely care about what they're doing. They seem to care about treating the animals well and the customer service is professional and attentive, if a bit slow.

Chelsey Wright

A few years back I took my 2 dogs to this office about a few minor issues we had concerns with. The vet we say didnt want to treat those issues and continued to go on and on about how obese my dogs were. They were slightly chubby NOT obese in the slightest. Bullied me into giving them an extremely restrictive diet. They lost far too much weight far too quickly. My one dog was skin and bones. You could see every single one of his ribs AND bone in his spine. Took him back because I was sure he was underweight. This vet was adament he was STILL obese. Extremely obese. I had to cut my dogs food back even more. Went to another vet and they said my dogs were clinically underweight and malnourished. McKnight literally tried to bully me into killing/straving my pets. They also never dealt with my original issues. Please do not EVER take your pets here.

amber lynn

I would give 6 stars if I could. I brought in a bearded dragon that I rescued from someone that didn't know how to take care of her I had her only 4 days the 4th day her health decreased extremely bad and she couldn't even hold her head up anymore I rushed her into the vet after making a call to make sure someone was there that could help me. as soon as I got there I was rushed into the back room and within seconds I had the reptile specialist there with me looking over Charm . she was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful and she treated me like I was a friend and not just a customer , the vet on call came in as well and she as well was very nice and helped me decide what was best for this poor bearded dragon . we had to put her down after only having her 4 days due to lack of proper food and lighting for her whole life , she was 4years old and the girl that owned her before didn't care for her. the vet and specialist both comforted myself and my 2 kids while we had to make this hard decision . never once were we treated less then a friend . a few days later I got a card in the mail from those 2 girls and it brought tears to my eyes from all the heartfelt and meaningful words. I highly recommend this vet office, they are amazing ....

Christine Leblanc

Honestly my favorite vet. Not only are they a 24 hour emergency vet that I could take my pets to anytime no matter the issue, but they are honest and transparent about everything. They are honest about pricing, and about the care of my pets and make realistic recommendations based on how you care for your pet and your lifestyle. They aren't the cheapest vet in Calgary, but I'm happy to pay a little bit more knowing that my pets are in good hands. I just brought my cat in for an oral cleaning, and they were so kind and they really made sure I knew all of the potential risks and benefits and how they would address any potential problems. They also did an exceptional job on the complimentary nail trim. I couldn't speak more highly of this place.

Andrea Vermeulen

I am so humbled and happy with this place. I'm almost in tears how happy I am with the work and love of this place. My 3 month old kitten fractured his growth plate in his back leg. I thought after talking with a different vet that I would lose him because I couldn't fork out $5000. The other vet found Dr Audrey Remedios who was amazing and saved my little guy and his leg for a fair price, he now has 2 pins in his leg and he is officially back to being a kitty. Thank you so much to the staff as well you all are amazing, I am so grateful to you all.

Kat S

These guys are amazing they were so kind so helpful .I have had to bring two of our dogs there on separate occasions and they have been absolutely amazing. I can not recommend them enough. I have been to other vets and was sorely disappointed. Not with the great great staff at mknight they r the best!!!!!

Giu Gen

very respectful and professional services in our time of sorrow thank you for your kindness

Cassie Neil

We brought our dog here on an emergency case. The main staff and vet were nice that wasn’t the problem. The issue is they must be trained to upsell and charge you for every thing. xrays? Needs a rush radiologist to look at them. Let’s do a blood test for cushings, even though his symptoms weren’t Cushing symptoms. Our dog was terminal and had lung cancer and instead of them telling us to make arrangements they wanted us to order an ultra sound, send his urine off for testing because there was bacteria and they needed to check for a fungus. The ultra sound and urine tests wouldn’t have resulted in our boy staying on earth with us any longer. After we racked up $1000 in bills we said enough was enough. We took him home and monitored him, and loved on him and decided it was best he be in heaven. We went to VCA who were the most kind and compassionate people who reaffirmed that further testing would be pointless. Be careful coming to McKnight because the impression we got was they prey upon your vulnerability and know that pet parents will shell out money if it means saving their pet. The only thing needed for our boy was the X-ray. We will never be back.

Ben Chu

Would not recommend this vet. Brought my dog in there to have emergency stitches done during the very early morning. I am no medical professional but the stitches look to be very poorly done and loose. While the medical director was pleasant to deal with the vet insisted the stitches were done properly. I did bring my dog for multiple opinions as I am not a medical professional myself and it was agreed that the stitches were poorly done. They also ended up giving her a small bit of clipper burn when they shaved her down to do the stitches. See picture attached My regular vet added staples to hold the stitches as she was very confident they weren't going to hold Probably a good reason why they are the lowest rated 24/7 Hospital in the city

Haley Thomson

I've been taking my dog here for years. They have been great in all situations whether it was a regular check up or for emergencies. I find their prices to be fairly reasonable and they will always go over the bill with you item by item before any procedure. All of the front end staff, vet techs and vets are wonderful with my stubborn old dog.

Stacey Phillips

I took my dog here with the complaint of vomiting for over 24hrs. She spent 2 days in hospital, cost was over $1,100 and she came home to me with NO diagnosis and at least 14 puncture marks in her legs & neck where they had tried to draw blood... 14 punctures for one IV line and two blood draws. I wish I could attach a photo here showing her severely bruised neck from where her jugular veins were completely blown. I did not disagree to any diagnostics, and in fact requested that more diagnostics be performed to find out what was wrong, but nothing additional was done. Also, even after 24 hours in hospital on IV fluids, she was still dehydrated, it wasn't until she had been there nearly 36 hours that she was put on a proper fluid rate to correct the dehydration. There are other options in this city for 24 hour care, USE THEM!

Kayla Gilliland

McKnight Animal Hospital misdiagnosed my dog and treated her for unnecessary treatments for 36hrs only to find that she had a back injury and not ‘intoxication’. We brought our dog in because she fell off a counter or stool while we were out, they claimed that she was not injured and instead was intoxicated irregardless to us telling them that there was nothing that she could have ate and that there was things she could have fallen off of. They insisted on treating her for intoxication only to find 36hrs later that she was not responding to the treatments. Finally a different veterinarian came on shift and could see before even doing an X-ray that my dog was injured. This caused my dog to be in pain for much longer than necessary and cause us financial strain just days before Christmas for procedures that should have never occurred. After sharing the issue with the Medical Director, instead of coming to an appropriate solution and taking accountability for the mistreatment, she told me to go to a different animal hospital and she’d be happy to give me numbers to go elsewhere. They were extremely unprofessional and I would not take your animal there! Even after having test results to show no intoxication and xrays to show a damaged vertebrae, they still were accusing us that she got into something and was intoxicated. Not only did they mistreat us and our dog, the customer service to follow from the ‘Medical Director’ Dr. Lorenza was beyond unprofessional.

My dog got ten porcupine quills to the face at night, so we brought him here. They had a couple other animals come in who were more severe than him, so the quills weren't removed for about 3-4 hours. I would have given a low rating because of the delay, the wait time on the phone, and the fact that I had to call them a bunch of times, but they were just so darn good at customer service and looking after my dog! Almost everyone I talked to on the phone was kind and reassuring. My dog got to sit on a blanket by the nurse instead of being put in a cage. A nurse stayed late in order to get him taken care of, and the vet apologized for the delay. And it was cheaper than expected! I would definitely recommend.

LOVE THEM!!! I brought my dog here who collapsed. Over 48 hours she was evaluated by 4 separate doctors with a range of tests. Their level of care and capability is comparable to human hospitals. In the end we had to put her down and the staff was very friendly and compassionate to us. They let us say goodbye for nearly 6 hours and checked on us only when we rang, they never pushed or rushed us to put her down. The prices were fair and the care was 5 star, they aren't a budget clinic but you get your monies worth in the care you pay for, they seemed to genuinely care about whats best for your animal. Even when they stood to make a pile of more cash they advised us to pass on surgery as it would be unlikely to be worth it. We will be using them for our next dogs.

Kris Marshall

Staff and vets are super friendly and made the visit much easier than expected !

Unfortunately my precious little hedgehog passed away recently ; so I went here to get him cremated and order his paw prints . The staff were friendly and kind, and made such a hard situation a bit less sad . To my surprise about a week later , I got a card in the mail from them . It was a sympathy card signed by all the staff , and they even marked the card with his paws in ink . That was an unexpected kind gesture and they really went above and beyond , giving me something so special and personal . Thank you so much , I will definitely keep that card forever . You guys are awesome ! :)

YESTERDAY WAS A VERY SAD DAY FOR US AS WE HAD TO PUT OUR LITTLE ANGLE MAGGIE MAY TO SLEEP. THE VET AND ASSISTANT WERE AMAZING! THEY MADE THE PROCEDURE BEARABLE, DID NOT RUSH US! I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS CLINIC

On Friday May 31, my husband and I had to make the heartbreaking decision to have our dog Bailey put down. The ladies at the front desk Immediately took him from my husband and whisked him into the back. We were given 2 options since our precious boy was in critical condition. We chose euthanasia. The professionalism, compassion and concern was beyond what we expected. The entire staff that day was so loving...as if we were all family. Our other 2 dogs will continue to be clients of McKnight Veterinary, they will never see another vet. We highly recommend McKnight as anyone's vet, you will not be disappointed.

Thomas Williams

I'd go 6 star if I could, caring vets and staff! Extremely sympathetic and empathetic! I have no complaints and have been coming here for years now. The vets are very caring individuals, who truly care about helping animals!! Great staff all around. They did everything they could to help comfort me through this trying time.

Removal of two rear dew claws cost me $1100 after being quoted less than $600 for the two. I won't be staying to find out how much an actual emergency would cost.

Thank you so much! We were there on Boxing Day late at night after I stupidly left my baby alone with bags of gifts on the floor for about 20 mins and she got into chocolates. …

Got my boy in right away! Super nice and understanding!

This clinic provided AMAZING service to my dog and me on an absolutely awful day, and on each returning visit. My dog got injured by another dog, and needed stitches and 2 drainage tubes. I got injured breaking up the fight and needed stitches on my leg and hands. My wonderful sister brought my dog to this animal hospital while I went to a human hospital. I went back 2 days later for a check up and to have her bandaged changed. Then again another 2 days later to have her drainage tubes taken out. In the next few days we'll return to have the stitches taken out. Through this whole experience I've dealt with many of their staff members in person and through MANY phone calls. Everyone has been amazing!!!! The doctor answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns upon the initial intake. They were having a crazy day and due to triage peotocols/timing my dog didnt get surgery until the night shift. Every time I called for an update the front staff would talk to the back staff and give me a real update. The doctor who performed the surgery called me at 3:30 am (as per my request) to update me. I believe it was Dr Bailey and Dr Vanessa. This is an emergency clinic. It's not going to be a cheap clinic. They're providing equipment and staff to accommodate our pets at any time, day or night. They were incredibly fair in their pricing. I wasn't charged any unnecessary expenses, and their quotes for "high end" and "low end" costs were clearly laid out. I will certainly recommend McKnight to anyone in an emergency situation, or just looking for a vet clinic.

Dustyn Slobodian

Very understanding and willing to go the extra Mike with there patience.

Marianna Boger

Very friendly and pleasant to deal with your staff and the doctor answered all my questions and was very nice. We also liked that there was lots parking.

My dog, Bella, has been seeing Dr. Skinner for sometime now and I can't say enough good things about him. Dr. Skinner is very good with my older dog. He is thorough and I am very happy with the advice he has given me during my visits. Dr. Skinner is willing to do some research to answer my questions and will only recommend what he feels is truly necessary to treat my dog's ailments. I would refer him to anyone.

Carissa Dantu

They are great, its just too expensive

It's taken me a little while to write this review... Tragically, we had to have our wonderful little 5 year old Dachson prematurely put down in mid-June after visiting a dog chiropractor who (we believe) triggered a spinal blood clot paralyzing our precious best friend. It's been a massive blow to our family. I'm writing this review because the folks at the McKnight Veterinary Hospital were nothing short of amazing. They were so kind and compassionate and they truly cared for us and out little guy so so well. Thank you so much... Thank you so much. You are are all wonderful people. I wish all of you so much joy and pleasure in life.

David Anderson

Very friendly and helpful staff, very reasonable prices and always put you fur family first. Would highly recommend them for any of your pet needs

Rasa Janulis

Be aware ! DO NOT take your pet to this clinic, over price, wrong diagnosis, the worst experience ever. Find better clinic with more knowledgeable veterinarians

If you love your pet go somewhere else. We have taken 3 dogs to them. My little dog they want to treat for cancer. Ask if he has cancer they say no. So you want me to buy med to treat cancer for no reason. My other dog had a mass growing in her mouth. Vet say just leave it for a few weeks. I finally had with them go to another vet. They do immediate surgery cause my dog to loose 5 teeth and a piece of bone. Which they say could have been a void if felt with immediately. Do you really want to take your loved one to a place that clearly has no clue what they are doing. They are cheap this is obviously why

Cheryl Bubenchak

They are a great animal hospital but you need the money.

Kim M

Ladies working the night I went in were pleasant and helpful.

This a great place , I trust them????????????????????will keep taking my animals and all the stray we fine there .????????????????

Courtney Mainprize

Our 11 month old golden developed swelling around her jowls which spread to her entire muzzle and eye area. We went in at 10 pm and were immediately seen. The female vet we saw was very thorough and kind, as were the front desk staff. Consult fee is $94 ($3 more than the clinic on 4th st NW who we had called prior to going and advised us of a 2-3 hour wait). The medications given were appropriate and we saw reduction in the swelling (suspected allergic reaction) was noticeable once we were home. Secondary medications were prescribed for another issue (gastro) and they are the exact meds at the exact cost of our regular vet. This is not a “paid” endorsement. ???? not sure why there are so many negative reviews. We had a seamless, kind, caring, and thorough experience.

During these trying times with vet and vet tech shortages, supply chain interruptions, and outright patient abuse of vet professionals, I am so grateful to all the staff of McKnight. Thank you for tending not just to my own animals but also for your incredible support of animal rescue groups, without you they could not continue. In addition, a special thank you to Dr. Remedios for her excellent skills, her incredible compassion and care, and her professionalism. Thank you.x

After bringing our cat in, it was decided that we did in fact have to put her down. They were very kind, and was very gentle with our sweet Maxine. We were told to take as much time as we needed before and after. Today we recieved a card in the mailbox so sorry for the loss of your pet, signed by everyone with her paw prints, the rate and her name. The staff is so kind, and I feel so thankful to have gone with them, and will continue to for our other cat

This is a place where you get ripped off. I took our 8 year old Lab for annual check up last week. They prescribed a medication for his ears. I misplaced the medication at home as we are renovating. So I called them to get a replacement for his medication and I was told to bring the dog back to them, pay another $60 for check up and only then I can receive the medication. You just checked him 5 days ago and you want me to bring him in again so that you can rip me off again? Wasn’t the $500 some $$$ enough from last visit? I am going to find a new VET in town. You have lost a life long customer for $60. P:S: they would recommend things that are not required for your loved pet but since a person is so emotional at times, you keep saying yes to stuff that is not even required and pay a hefty bill.

Gabriella Lovely

I've accessed this vet twice now in my life time. Both times were within the last 6 months and both times were critical moments for my pets. Both times not only were the staff receptive encouraging and empathic but they were also quick and efficient. Even though I didn't have all of the money upfront (I had approximately 70% on both occasions and both were emergency visits) the vet was willing to work with me so my babies didn't suffer or feel pain. I'm utterly grateful for the people at this clinic and am switching to them for full time care. Thank you McKnight 24 hour!

Jamie Lee

We regularly bring our pets here but the service has been awful lately. Waiting on hold for twenty minutes to simply ask a question about whether an appointment is needed and it seems they're under staffed, as she said she has multiple lines on hold and dealing with a patient. It's absurd that I'm waiting this long to ask my question when she could've answered it in the time she took to tell me continuously to hold. Extremely displeased when we choose to go across town to go here and can't determine ahead of time whether we should just show up.

J Belfour

I don't honestly know where to begin with this review. We have been taking our cat to this facility for years. The Vets are AMAZING. The front staff are mediocre at best, the new telephone system is a joke and their Covid policies are out dated. We continue to have issues with getting the proper medication despite calling and speaking with them directly as well as their compounding pharmacy numerous times over the past two years. I am able to say that the CARE is top notch, but their day to day processes are archaic. It takes days for medications to be confirmed despite pushing the appropriate number on the *new* and unimproved call tree. The manner in which the staff answer the phone and immediately place you on hold if not a medical emergency, often leaving the caller on hold for upwards of 30+ minutes, is unacceptable. The clinic could hire a student to triage calls and direct to a virtual assistant or on-ward proper call tree. FYI this was most recently tested on my last visit when I called prior to my appointment, drove to the clinic, took my pet in, and remained on hold despite no one else being in the facility. I'll give you a hint, don't answer the phone if you cant take the call. The front line caliber of service has deteriorated. No matter what you do to the front of house, new layout, if you don't have the customer service, you will loose clients. Lastly, I spent a SOLID 3 hours of my time today researching a new facility for our pets and despite the increase in fees, I am happy to say we are moving on. Our sole decision is the fact that you refuse to allow owners to attend any appointments. There are no local guidelines preventing owners who are double-vaxed and masked to attend WITH their anxious pet. This is a policy that clearly you refuse to change. I would suggest you change your in person policies or you will continue to loose clients. I am jumping ship on the recommendation of 3 other families who are equally put off by these and a few other questionable policies and tactics. 1 of these families was clearly distraught and another patron also commented in the parking lot. I hope you and your team are able to correct some of the above issues quicky. Our cat also after every visit also leaves with a cough. Hopefully someone who can ACTION change actually reads these and implements change for the better. We'll see if there is even a valued response.

Called this clinic was told i could bring my cat in and when i arrived was told there were no doctors in until 7am would have been nice to know that before wasting my time. After seeing all the negative reviews i am soooo happy there wasnt a doctor on staff... Or my cat with a hurt leg may be dead

Dr. Jennifer was very understanding and kind

It was a Sunday and I had to get my dog to a Vet. Of course nothing else was open and this is the only emergency hospital that I knew of. When I arrived it wasn't very busy. There was me and one other person in the waiting room and they had already took his dog in to get looked at. But I still waited about an hour before a Vet saw my dog. I want upset as I had expected going to an emergency vet that there could be a wait. The Vet was very friendly, gentle and asked questions to get an understanding of my dogs history and health. She asked if I was ok to give my dog pain meds and that they would need to take her into the back to clean the wound. Being that this exact situation has happened before I was ok and knew what needed to be done. However, when my dog came out from the back she was frothing at the mouth, the cone was full of saliva and my dog was completely out of it. When I asked they said it was just the meds and this was normal. When I got her home my poor dog cried for a good 3hrs straight, couldn't sleep through the night cause she was in so much pain and had a rough couple days. The reason I give them a 3 is because my dog had undergone this exact same procedure with her normal vet a few years earlier and she came out the same as she went in....happy, not in pain and normal with no side effects. I question what they did to her to make her be in so much pain.

After my pet hamster passed away and I brought her in for cremation, I was made to feel that my hamster was equally as important as any pet. They took me seriously when I requested a necropsy be preformed as I had suspicions about the new food I'd just purchased from the local pet store by my home before the hamster got sick, and they provided me with an affordable way of going forward with the necropsy. Even leading up to the hamster passing away, they were able to stabilize her and send me home with a course of drugs while keeping expectations realistic. I also received a very heartfelt condolences card in the mail from the clinic that was hand signed with breif condolences notes from a number of the staff members as well as paw prints from my late pet hamster. Already, this clinic would have received a 5 star review for their professionalism and for doing everything they could to help my pet. But this hand signed card with my pets prints was way above and beyond and I really appreciated it.

Took our Hedgehog hog in. when we were afraid that we wouldn't be able to afford the procedures they needed they offer for us to surrender her to them so that they could save our little hedgehogs life. We end up being able to pay for the procedure that would have needed thank God. But they went way and above any veterinary clinic that I've ever been with. Would highly recommend this veterinary clinic to anyone

Wonderful! Our little baby was so well looked after I cannot recommend this Vets more. We meet two of the Doctors they were both super! Our little girl needed an immediate surgery and the whole experience was just first class. Thank you.

Jillian Alexander

This clinic is 100% ABOUT MONEY BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE. An example of this is the vet constantly (5+ times) asking if we could afford the VERY EXPENSIVE ($1000+ above any other quote we got) surgery for our cat, ignoring doing the recommended (by him!) follow-up x-ray to confirm the surgery was still even required. When we brought up that the cat seemed better and there was still an x-ray to do to confirm the surgery was necessary his response was, "oh, ya, I guess we can do that, but we really should get the surgery scheduled." It was VERY CLEAR all he wanted to do was the surgery, required or not. This is just one example of a few, all involving the clinic's vets (yes, more than one) asking about what we could afford and recommending the most expensive option without proven need. To the hospital- Please don't respond to this review with your BS about "animal welfare being first priority", or whatever you previously responded to poor reviews. It is VERY EVIDENT your staff, particularly your vets, care first and foremost about revenue, not what's actually best or needed for the animal.

Jay C

Horrible Experience. They are money hungry thieves that put the dollar ahead of it's customers. If you aren't rich/well-off, I advise not going here. They will squeeze out as much money as they possibly can before they legally steal your pet away from you. Do not go here people. There's a reason for these 1 star reviews.

Diane Gronlie

We had to say goodbye to our 17 year old cat early in the morning on Mother's Day. They got us in right away as he was in complete distress. They were so kind and caring, gave us all the time we needed and extended so much compassion to us and our boy. They made this heartbreaking time easier for us and we are very grateful. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

Kathy Andre

Thanks again great place love it n there help

Nice to be able to have reasonably priced emergency after hours access to a vet!! Thanks MkKnight.

Took my pup here as it was the only place that was open on a Sunday. They scheduled me in on an appointment when I called. Upon arrival, we sat down and my pup was acting in pain, the receptionist noticed and asked me if he was always like this, I told her "no" and she put me in a room right away. He was examined by Dr. Dudley. Listed some potentials bust most likely a possible strain on his muscle. She gave him a prescription for some meds and rest. The next day he was doing the same thing, I called and they helped me out once again - I think I panicked as I didn't give enough time for the pain killers to set in. They put me in for another appointment but I ended up cancelling as he started acting normal again. He improved throughout the week. During that week, they called to see how he was doing. I scheduled a follow up appointment and Dr. Dudley noticed huge improvements and mentioned it could take a few weeks to heal. They called me again a few days later to see how he was doing. I am actually quite impressed with this vet. Dr. Dudley showed compassion and care for my pup and gave him the one on one interaction I look for when looking for when I take my pup anywhere. The staff were very friendly and I was thoroughly impressed with the follow-ups they did. We've gone to a few vets and we never received a follow up. I ended up making Dr. Dudley our primary vet and transferred his records over. When it is an emergency, you can tell the staff is trained to look for signs to see who needs it right away. It is an emergency hospital, so pets who need it the most will be looked at right away. I don't mind waiting as I understand the emergencies.

Blammed me for my puppy's gastrointestinal blockage (which he got from eating something at the backyard breeders house, we had him for only about a day at that point. We don't support backyard breedersbut we didnt want him to end up in the wrong hands). Was not my first puppy, I watched him every second, he didn't eat anything he wasn't supposed to with me. Proceeded to tell us he was dying. Wanted to send his scans to an expert because the vet could not read them, we insisted she send them to our regular vet (who could read them and said they looked mostly okay except for a possible blockage). But the vet there said he had fluid in his abdomen and around his heart which was "concerning" (which was not true, our vet said she did not see that and that lots of fluid was normal for puppys around his age which was 8 weeks). They ended up keeping him on fluids for 24 hours, he did have a bowl movement while he was there and they did not check it for a foreign object!!!!! Which they very much should have!!!!! The vet in the morning had to apologize to us for the night vet who didnt check for the object!!! We also had to convince the vet to not rush him into emergency surgery because we disnt trust her, if he needed surgery we would get our vet to do it the next day. This was about 10 months ago but I am still extremely upset that she blamed me, and tried to convince us that he had all these different issues and was dying, but didn't even check for a foreign object???? Ridiculous.

I wanted to leave a review for this clinic because I’m so beyond pleased with how they treated my dog and I post and pre his CCL surgery. They are all so knowledgeable and kind! I’m a crazy dog mom and call them all the time asking questions and they never made me feel like I’m annoying or bothering me and continuously ensured me that they’re there to help me every step of the way. I knew my pup was in good hands here and yours will be too!!

Kendra Davidson

If I could give a zero rating I would. I am completely disguised in how this clinic runs. My brother in-law took his cat who we believed had a urinary infection due to previous antibiotics. We were not suggestion or given a prescription of probiotics which same with humans is highly recommend due to the risk of UTI's. This clinic would not give us any information over the phone forcing us to come in with a minimum of $100. They then claimed that our cat has a half an hour to live and the surgery will cost a minimum of $1500.....due to a urinary blockage. Our cat then sits there past a half hour, when payment has already been put through with no other choice thinking our cat is on the verge of dying, and we continue to wait 45 minutes with our cat not even being looked after in the back. To add on we are told we are not aloud to see him either. So you make us believe our cat is about to die, force us to pay a minimum of $1500 and not let us see him, even though he may not make it? How despicable can you be? Not only the horrible treatment given to us as customers but to not give any care in an animals well being and focus just on our bill? I would highly recommend that if you would like to be treated with care, compassion, intelligence, and reliable service DO NOT GO HERE. You will be disappointed. Travel the extra 5 minutes and go to Northmount Animal Hospital on 4th street NE.

My 11 year old Border Collie/Kelpie became very++ ill. McKnight veterinary and office staff took wonderful care of her - and me - their medical skills were excellent. Medical Conditions were explained thoroughly, handouts given. Difficult situations were handled professionally. The facilities are top-notch designed with customer and pet comfort. They were always available on short notice which was so helpful to me and my pet. This clinic/hospital seems able to handle all problems I needed. I highly recommend them!!

Michael Jedwabski

Helped my dog get better! Good place

Like the reviews before said, if you love your pets TAKE THEM SOMEWHERE ELSE (recap of incident to follow). I'd avoid this sh*thole at all cost unless you want to pay almost double for care. I understand its a business, but what happened to helping people in need and having a little compassion. You were really going let his dog die over$190 xrays? Shame on your clinic and the people involved with it. How dare your employees make anyone feel like they shouldn't own an animal or that they are less of a person because they can't afford something OVERPRICED upfront. GREEDY, OVERPRICED, RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. Don't be fooled by the 5 star reviews they're crooks. People will forget what you said but NEVER FORGET HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL. Remember that. Incident: My friend couldn't afford to pay upfront for the initial xrays and asked if they had a payment plan. He was told if he couldn't pay the whole amount he could leave and good luck. He managed to scrape up the money and got the xrays. Afterwords they quoted $2200 - $3300 for the operation his dog desperately needed. Again, he didn't have the cash on hand to pay upfront. They told him he can pay upfront or leave and that if he can't afford it upfront he should put his dog down. He called another vet who could take the dog right away, had the option of a payment plan and was $1600 with xrays, operation and post medical care including medication and taxes. This vet made the quote, but told him not to worry about paying until after the dog was taken care and took him the same day. Id like to add that I brought my own dog here years ago. They did every test in the book they could charge me for and did nothing to actually help my dog. Took her to another vet and they had her situation under control the same day and didn't charge even close to half the price this place did.

Natasha Sale

I brought my dog in at 2am after she was attacked by a friends dog. The receptionist was very friendly and supportive as I was in shock and very stressed. The doctor and support staff worked quickly to examine my poor pup and go over options with me. She had surgery within an hour after arriving. After a day in hospital I was able to take her home. The doctor called the following day to follow up which I really appreciated. Great experience with McKnight.

Don't take your pet to this hospital unless absolutely necessary. I would highly recommend CARE centre in the south. We took our diabetic dog in under emergency circumstances with ketoacidosis. He was very, very sick. We saw Dr. Martinez that evening who was very helpful, but we were then handed an estimate with a range of $1800 to $4700. Dr.Martinez told us that they normally require a deposit based on the high end estimate, but because the range was quite a bit, that they could work something out. When we got out front, the story changed. They wouldn't begin any kind of treatment on our dying dog until we forked over almost $1000. So, we did because we love our dog, and he was dying. What choice did we have? I had to apply to Petcard to cover the rest of the cost because well, we aren't rich.I did this but because we they closed, we had to wait until the next morning for approval, and the hospital wouldn't proceed with anything until "the financials" were secured. This finally got straightened out at about 1 PM the next day, and then we were advised that they could begin all the necessary tests/treatment. I should note that during this time, Dr.Martinez was quite good at calling me with updates on our dog, but on our first call, I advised that our dog had had cataract surgery, and was very specific about which drops the eye surgeon had him on, and asked if I should bring in his insulin and the eye drops. He said to bring in the insulin, but not to worry about the drops, because they were giving them to our dog already. I mentioned the name of the drops and the dosage, and advised to contact the eye surgeon at the CARE hospital to confirm, and was told this would be done. It wasn't. We went to visit our dog 4 days into his stay and noticed something going. on with his eye. I was told over the phone the next morning by another doctor that he had developed ulcers in his eyes, and found out that he had not been getting the proper eye drops the entire time he was there! We went in that evening and when I questioned the vet, she advised that they had called the CARE clinic and they had told them which drops were supposed to be given. She left us sitting in the room to find out what happened and I called CARE who advised that they had never been contacted. When I asked about this, the story changed and they had actually called our regular vet, who had advised them to administer the wrong drops. So again I was told she was going to look into it, and left us sitting in a room for over an hour waiting for answers, of which we really never got, as we were passed of to the night Doctor, who had no idea what had happened. We picked our dog up today. He has been switched to a different kind of insulin as it seems to be working better according to the vet who we spoke to when we were leaving, which was the same one as the evening before. We were told to purchase a glucose meter as we would have to keep an eye on his levels. So we did. I should note that I had let them know we were going to be in at 7:30 to pick our dog up, and again it took 2 hours to get out of there, even though all we needed was a short consult, to be shown how to use the glucose meter, and settle our very large bill. (Our final ended up $14 shy of the amount I had approved by Petcard + our own $1000, for a final bill of $4600. This after I had them remove a charge for the bottle of insulin I had brought in! We were sent home with our dogs glucose not under any kind of control, and no instructions on administering the new insulin. It was about 11 PM, so about 2 hours after leaving the hospital, when I did a glucose check and found that the level was dangerously high. I was told that I could call if I had any questions or needed anything, so I did, but couldn't get anyone on the phone to help. I got Barb, a tech who was so rude that I can't even believe she has a job dealing with the public, who told me she would "try to get someone to call me" it's now 2 AM and still no call. This hospital has a take take the money and run policy. Avoid at all costs.

Incompetence was absolutely staggering. Took our cat there when he got in a fight, they told us he was constipated and sent us home (after 400 dollar bill) went back 3 days later (where another vet told us we were bad pet owners and should have notice the bite earlier, this vet did not know we were there 3 day previous) due to an infection from another cat bite (from the fight). after a lengthy and expensive process we were very displease. I contacted the clinic to complain and was told a manger would contact me. After 3 days i went in talk to a very nice lady who took the time to listen to my complaint and said she would look into our bill and see what could be done. We then played "phone tag" where i would get left messages 10 minutes before her shift was off. Basically they ignored me till i went away. Then they sent all our information to the wrong vet.
