I have been using Dr. McConkey for over 5 years now. Took me a few years to find a vet I could trust and the ears to listen. You never feel rushed and you always know your animal will be well taken care of. There is no ego in this clinic, and although they sell vet food - they will not push a casual raw feeder like myself to change. Joanna and Dr. O'Brien are also amazing vets that you can equally trust. Being in the pet industry - we are aware that not all vet clinics are created equal. We are lucky to have found the best in town. They keep it simple and get the job done right!

Highly recommend Dr. Carlos Rodriguez!! My kitty is a big, affectionate lump. Usually. But he is terrified at the vet and has been designated a dangerous animal by other vets. Dr. Rodriguez approached my kitty slowly, calmly, and with great gentleness. I am so grateful that a vet visit need not be traumatic for all involved. Dr. Rodriguez was also really wonderful with my other cat. He called me after hours with lab results and was very knowledgeable and professional. Also Stella at the front desk is awesome! Highly recommend this clinic. Their care is exceptional and I know they put the well-being of the animals first.

about 7 months ago my grandmothers dog was diagnosed with diabetes and we brought him into MacLeod trail vet clinic. the ladies and gentlemen on staff have always been so accommodating. they have helped in any way they can. they have always been able to answer any, and all of my questions. Even if there was questions about service they didn't provide, they printed the information off and let me keep it. Since then I've taken over care for Ziggy as my grandmother is sick, and unable to handle his schedule and expenses. having a dog that requires this much work is a challenge, but I don't think I would have been able to do it without the staff at this clinic. the ladies at the desk are always excited when we bring Ziggy in, and always inquiring how he is when he isn't with me. I know when I bring my dog in that he is getting the best attention, and I'm getting the best information. this clinic makes you feel like you're at home and goes the extra mile for their customers. I hope one day when I'm at work in my Service job- that I can impact customers in the positive way these ladies and gentlemen do. I am forever thankful for what everyone at this clinic has done for me, especially Colleen and Taylor. Ziggy is the most important thing in my life, and this clinic understands what animals mean to their owners. I recommend this clinic over any other in Calgary.

My dog Miguel and I had such a great experience here from the front desk staff and Dr. Christopher Jones. Luckily enough I just moved to the area and was in search of a good vet - and I will not hesitate to recommend this animal hospital to anyone! Been here twice in the last month - first, Miguel had an acute limp on his front right paw. Dr. Jones was so gentle when examining him and prescribed anti-inflammatory meds for a week. A few days later, a bump showed up and I was able to email a picture of the bump to the office for the vet to look at. I was so impressed - he called me within an hour of me sending the email and took the time to answer my questions. When the round of meds were done, Miguel was back to his normal self! Went back for Miguel's annual exam and vaccines and again, I had the best service from the front desk and Dr. Jones. I always brace myself to break the bank when going to the vet, but I've been pleasantly surprised on my past two visits. Such great service for good value. Amazing. It is so refreshing to find a vet that answers questions without a hint of condescension. Miguel is never happy to go to the vet, but when we visited for the first time, my dog wasn't as anxious as he normally is at the vet's office. When we pulled up for his annual exam, he was excited to come in and wagged his tail upon seeing Dr. Jones. Thank you so much for the wonderful customer service!

I've taken my cats and dogs here for well over 20 years. This vet clinic has always been very good. I've tried other places and nothing really compares to it. The veterinarians are all kind, thorough and professional. Although 2020 has been a rough year in regards to losing my two beloved cats, the bright side was the staff and their care. Dr. Edwards and Dr. Jones are two of the very best vets you'll ever meet. The support staff is also committed and compassionate. I would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone.

For example, during Covid the vet would take your pets into the building for you and then bring them back out once their checkup was done. They would then inform you of your pet's health.

Dr. Jones has been our vet for over two years now for our 3 dogs. They have always been amazing but when we had to deal with our beloved Border Collie getting cancer, that's when they truly shined. They were so compassionate during a very difficult time. They took us in immediately in an emergency situation and they never rush our appointments. They take the time to answer all of our questions. Their prices are extremely reasonable. They went above and beyond and we highly recommend them for caring for your fur babies.

Please DO NOT pay any attention to the garbage reviews left below, these are false and untrue attempts at knocking down a doctor who goes above and beyond to show animals the care that they deserve.

Both myself and a friend have used this vet recently and also in the past. I had taken my 14 year old cat there after noticing a bleeding spot on her stomach. I first saw Dr. Carlos Rodriguez and he had examed her and indicated "it was not good" that she had 1 large Tumor on her stomach and 2 smaller ones; also the area was infected. When I asked he thought it was cancer he said it probably was because of the number of masses, and he could give her a antibiotic shot. I agreed right away and he then told me that "there was nothing else he could do" & told me to bring her back in after 10 days and I was to put a plastic cone over her head to avoid her licking the area. Then they would look at doing surgery to remove the tumors and spend them in for testing; to see if in fact it was cancer. I did as he instructed and she had stopped eating about 2 days before bringing her back in on Saturday afternoon. Her breathing had also changed and she wasn't acting like her normal affectionate self. I saw another lady Dr. This time and she recommended a chest X-ray because of her breathing. I agreed and found out she had fluid in her lungs which was causing her breathing difficulties. She had also said it looked like the cancer had moved into her lungs which was causing the fluid. She then directed that I take her to the animal emergency clinic or I should put her down that same day. I was completely devastated, as she was my baby and it was a lot to take in that moment. I was crying and wanted to take her home until Monday and have a bit more time with her & think about what I should do. The female Dr. was pushing me to put her down that same day and not to wait. Telling me "she had no quality of life and she was suffering." Not really knowing what to do I agreed to have her put to sleep then, as I loved her very much and didn't want to see her suffer or in pain. Looking back I should have followed my first reaction and bought her home and consulted another second opinion. Also that first male Dr. should have advised & directed me to take immediate steps to diagnose; if in fact if she had cancer or not. Within that 10 days it had spread into her lungs :( I had also talked to the manager of the vet clinic that following Monday and indicated my concerns. She mentioned that she would have to follow his notes, that he had written; saying that he had recommended more tests that same day. This is fraud and he is falsely fabricating the actual facts of that day. I'm not happy that they have this Dr. & another Dr. Pushing clients into putting their pets down. My other friend who had also taken his cat there had another bad experience with this Dr. Rodriguez. Putting your pets down is a life changing and major decision. From my experience take a day or 2 or get a second opinion. There are your babies, once they are gone, your whole world changes. I no longer trust this vet, and will be bring my other cat to another vet for his medical health needs.

Outstanding clinic on all fronts! I was not able to get my dog into his regular clinic when he started having seizures. I called around and this clinic as happy to fit us in. From the first call this clinic has been excellent from the customer service, the vet and the price. Dr Jones was very quick in his seizure diagnoses of my dog eating onions the week before. He was also patient with my rapid fire questions over the multiple visits. We have since had an issue with my dog eating dark chocolate and was able to call and immediately get in. My dog is a pug if your wondering... I would recommend Dr. Jones to anyone looking for a vet. Every time I would go up to the cash I would cringe, but would end up pleasantly surprised. I couldn't be happier, and neither could my now healthy dog! Thank you!

I've been going to Macleod Trail Animal hospital since March. I picked them as they are the vet that my breeder has been using so that gave me the confidence that they were the best vet for my dog. I can't compare their prices with another vet as I've just gone here as these guys already have experience with my breed. My experiences so far have been awesome. Every time I visit I feel like the staff make as much effort as possible to make sure I fully understand what is going on with my dog and what they are doing to help him. I never feel rushed or that there is a question left unanswered. They also make a follow up call the day after to make sure everything is ok.

We brought our newly adopted kitten to Dr. Christian for an annual checkup and some booster shots. Dr. Christian was very informative and patient in answering all our questions and went above and beyond to address our concerns. He spent a good hour with us discussing all aspects of cats health and good feeding habits etc. He also provided honest opinions about food brands and shots and never pushed us into buying stuff from them which was much appreciated. Prices are competitive also. The only downside was the staff at the front desk were not the most personable or friendly, but the vet definitely made up for the lacking. I will sure be bringing our kitty back there again!

My Labrador unfortunately ran into something and had a nice sized wound on his side. It couldn't of come at a worse time as my wife and I ran into a temporary financial issue. I called MacLeod Trail Animal Hospital and they were extremely courteous, professional and willing to help and came up with a plan to fix my dog up within my price range. It actually worked and my Labrador has healed up nicely. They are awesome and very compassionate about what they do. I will be taking my dogs here from now on (here now waiting to get both of their vaccines done!) - it's so nice to deal with these people instead of the big corporation vet companies in the area *cough* VCA *cough*. We have really enjoyed our experience with Mac trail animal hospital in the past but were surprised and upset that our vet - Dr. J. Pytka, who specializes with our breed, is no longer at the clinic. We understand that people move on but we couldn't get any forwarding information to reach our vet and were mid treatment. Edit January 2019 - anyone trying to find Dr. Pytka should be able to find her at Okotoks animal hospital.

My husband and I would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for your compassion and care for my 11 year old dog Molly. A special thank you to Dr. Christian Jones for all you’ve done and to Dr. Michael Edwards who did an amazing job with Molly’s life saving Surgery which gives us many more years of love and snuggles! You all are beyond amazing and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and so does Miss Molly who is back to her crazy self again. We are patients for life and we would not have it any other way! I have been in Calgary for 2 years and have been looking for a good vet. I needed one with a dermatologist specialist at it as well. I made an appointment after covid and the vet came out and greeted me in person in the parking lot with PPE equipment on. They examined my dog and were so helpful & friendly! My dog was well taken care of and relaxed. They didn't try to get me to pay for extra procedures either! Very thankful I found them and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a vet clinic!

A great vet practice. We've had two dogs and a cat at this practice for the past 3 years and they have been very caring, responsive and pro-active. Lovely team of vets and nurses who go out of their way to take the best care of your pets. Reasonably priced and conservative/sensible in their approach, unlike some vets in our area which charge a fortune, recommending unnecessary testing and treatments, pandering to anxious owners. Highly recommend the Macleod Trail team for honest, straightforward, caring and kind service.

We only adopt rescue animals and have been taking them here since our last Veterinarian retired years ago. It is so special to have a Vet. that you can trust to be only concerned with the care of your pet and never more happy than to tell you it doesn't need tests or treatments that aren't necessary when they aren't, and can trust him when he says they are. This whole practice is one of those rare ones where everyone working there chose their career out of love of animals ...

I am somewhat baffled with Janet Desrochers negative post. Not because you were told your dog probably had 3 months to live that it was misdiagnosed because at 15 she is still alive. Educate yourself, cancer affects both dogs and humans in similar ways. My grand father was told he had 6 months to live and he lived 10 years more so I guess I should go and bash this doctor? Rather than bashing a doctor, learn more and be grateful your pooch is still around. I have been a client of Macleod trail clinic since 2009 when we rescued our first dog who sadly passed away of CANCER in May 2016. We have since rescued two more dogs and have always had great experiences. My pooches have been seen by Dr. Edwards, Dr. Jones and Dr. McConkey. All 3 doctors are very professional and very passionate when it comes to your animals. Never once did I find a reason to discredit them, not once! Yes, people move on but this doesn't give you carte blance to bash the other vets. Dr. Pitka moved on, then I suggest you move on! I can assure you folks, experience and care is of the utmost importance for this clinic. There is nothing like walking in with your pooches and not battle to turn around Looking for The door. The service is outstanding and all vets, including their vet techs take care of your pooch/cat like they are their own. If u want a great experience, I would highly recommend you visit them. You and your fur legged member will be happy.

Is more a clinic that a Hospital. If your doggy had an accident I would recommend to go to another facility. We pay in here just have to pay again for the checkup in another Hospital.
