This Hospital belongs to the category of General hospital.
Thanks for the professional teams at ER, imaging technicians, and doctors and nurses and all staff members in critical care unit on the 3rd floor, for saving my life! I was fortunate that I waited only one minute before being admitted! What's more, the food was delicious ????
Took my foreskin when I was born. I asked the manager about this and he said he accidentally sold it to the pharmaceutical companies. Mental health outpatient service was weak when I went as an adult. 0/10 wouldn't go back.
Long waiting time
Would give zero stars if I could. Too busy taking care of passport babies. The asian nurses hate to say it have bad attitude. Just clock watchers. Saw Filipino nurse argue with patient about her medication and the patient was correct as to the medication and dosage. Another Asian nurse did not respond to a patients bell call 4 times in a row. The patient from across my family member fell off the bed and the nurses asked my mom who was visiting if she saw what happened !! she just got there ! Horrible staff on 6th floor and 3rd floor
It’s the worst day in my life I enter the hospital and durning my labor the Anesthesia doctor gave me Effdren which cause hight blood pressure and hemorrhagic stroke has happen to me Four years has happend to me I accuse dr eiman sultan Dr cape get fan
Awesome and friendly staff. The wait time for ER is even online now for you to check so no surprises.
My mother has had the misfortune to be on Ward3N for the past one week post hip surgery. It has been a horrendous experience to say the least. My mother's nurse Sara as well as the OT Kaitlin who work on this ward stood out in their dedication to their job as well as their professionalism . One night nurse who came on 4 days into my mothers stay there actually made my mother cry since she insisted that my mother walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night when my mom requested a bed pan due to too much pain. The transition nurse Julian on the ward must pride himself in keeping the traffic moving on the ward since he informed me on Monday one day post surgery what my moms discharge date would be. Notwithstanding translation issues and cultural barriers where my mothers condition actually deteriorated by midweek, he informed me that my mother was discharged on the Friday while she indicated to us that she felt worse 4 days post surgery than she did immediately after.A text message from him informed me I would be liable for 1500 a day after the Friday discharge date ( ludicrously funny in its effort at intimidation) Any effort to communicate what my mother was feeling was ignored except by Sara , my moms nurse. A conversation with my mother on the Friday ( day of so called discharge) indicated she was in extreme pain. A pre- discharge visit that is typical in hospitals to the patients home was suggested but ignored( necessary as my Mom and Dad live alone...care givers then get an idea what their patients are dealing with once discharged) The whole scenario as it kept unfolding over the last few days is actually unbelievable . That health care professionals get so caught up in their agendas as to actually forget or downright ignore the ones they took oath to care for is disheartening. The bright spot is that at least my mother was lucky to get a gentle compassionate person like Sara assigned as her nurse who tried her best to navigate my mothers needs along with that of the transitional team headed by the unyielding Julian. A crash course in patient care for some is what comes to mind as I reflect on my experiences over the last few days at Richmond General Hospital.
I should select Zero star, but no this choice. Terrible experiences in this hospital. I got threats from their staffs - if I would not pay them before the surgery, they would not perform the surgery. I made complaints to their Patient Care director, Rich Dillon. What he replied me is that they followed their policies, protocols, and best practice standards. Shame on them. Not even have basic ethical/moral standards.
(Translated) It hurts to death, and the doctor doesn't come (Original) 疼都疼死了 医生也不来
If I could give just 1/4 of a star I wouldn't! Every single staff member was rude, and obnoxious. The receptionist was on her cell, the cleaning lady concentrated on the TV more than her job, and when a man with a limp was called in, the nurse remarked " are you still coming?" Outrageous!
Fabulous nursing staff, and many great people that helped me during the time of my needs.
Terrible if there was 0 stars I would give 0 stars if your the owner plz look because there was terrible service other hospitals are way better for example the vancouver hospital is way better when I saw a kid crying in pain there were a bunch of staff that did not care and just kept on laughing imagine if you were that kid even my brother went to this hospital 3 times but still they didn't give anything the doctors are mean they said to my brother when he went to the hospitals 3 times and one doctor said it's your choice if you want to leave then leave wow right and the waiting is so long it's about 5 hours a patient this incredible right and plz like if you agree if we get a lot of likes we can show the world why we are important because we are humans its our right Thank you
Our son was in for sutures. Started off at the critical care unit - they said they were too busy and told him to come to Richmond Hospital Emergency. Staff are great - courteous and professional. The reason for 3 stars... 5½ hours, not very busy and he's still waiting to see a doctor to have his cut cleaned and sutured again. It's a good thing that it wasn't bleeding like it was the first time, and he waited for 3½ hours to see a doctor that time!
Phone auto-attendant advice "do not come to the hospital if you feel sick" seems anti-intuitive given that's where people go when they are sick.
Friggin place-- the staff's judgement and condescension is disgusting and they don't seem to think things through properly@#$$&_#
Got good service in the ER. Took some time but it was worth it.
Thanks for the professional teams at ER, imaging technicians, and doctors and nurses and all staff members on the 6th floor. I was fortunate that I waited only few minute before being admitted! The only complaint is the room in North Tower 613 the patio door have a large gap and the freeze wind keep coming into the room and the baseboard heater are not working either. Every time they have to get something from the outside open storage, they have to remove my bed and let the cold air came into the room again. My condition is getting worse because of the freeze temperature in the room. Three nurses and six attempts before they can put an IV in my arms. This room is not suitable for any patients at all. I hope the management team will look into this seriously. At last how can 2 patients bed share one outlet with 4 plugs.
Wow What a interesting conversation I had today with a Public Health Manager at The Richmond Hospital Apparently Mental Health Workers Don’t have to wear Masks when out in the community just like everyone else does I guess there special Great Job VCH Richmond in keeping people safe during a Pandemic
My appointment went smoothly with all the covid protocol.
Died... Probably won't go back
If only there was a 0 star option.. I've been in this poor hospital twice. I'm not coming here ever again , even if I'm having a heart stroke.
Such a none trained nurses at the front desk . They all keep busy on their phones while people need emergency attention . At list talk about your vacation stories while u are not working . I am sitting here while i can’t breathe well due on astma and they all getter together in front room and talk about their holidays ..... I am very sad to see what is happening actually.
Worst hospital ever. Absolutely no service at all here.. keep ringing button. No one shows up for the longest time.. keep getting transferred for no reason at all. The tv that I had paid for had to leave behind in the last room so in the meantime I had no tv again..I have never experienced such lousy service anywhere..
(Translated) This is one of the most unprofessional hospitals I have ever seen. In fact, the clinics in the middle of the night are waiting for doctors to come from Vancouver, North Wen, or more aptly, in fact, they are still sleeping after the doctor is notified, and they are slow at home. The slow start is really a beautiful and dramatic stage play. Everyone will play, including the nurses who use a lot of ways to cover the doctor's slowness, because if their family is sick and there is always a priority, the lives of the people are worthless.
Been to the ER here many times, each time the nurses are not very accommodating. They just don't seem happy being there. It's also quite dirty
Even though my issue wasnt an emergency, i was out of there really quickly and people were nice
Been here several times, thankfully not for myself, but family members. There was one (consistently) really rude nurse, but other than that, the rest of the staff were pleasant.
The nurse has been very attentive and helpful. Dispite being overwhelmed with patients she has been handling every situation with an astonishing grace. I came to this hospital even though going through personal pain the people here have been extremely helpful. Wish they had more staff or funding for staff to work late night shift, but that one nurse has been handling everything wonderfully.
Rude nurses/doctors. Got kicked out of the hospital and was threatened, and called security on me for going around the hospital to find a mask.
Got into the emergency hospital by ambulance on Jun 10, 2021 around 1215pm. Heart attack, almost lost conscious, unable to move my muscles and squeeze my fingers after the heart attack at home. 2 things I wanna complain. 1. While I was lying in the portable bed waiting at the hall way of your hospital once I got into the hospital . One of the nurse and the ambulance guy kept testing me if I can squeeze my fingers or not. The answer is barely. Then, another nurse not in white color spoke loudly and squeeze my left fingers hardly, and yelled "I WANT YOU TO SQUEEZE YOUR FINGERS LIKE THIS! In fact, she hurt me, she squeezed so hardly on my fingers. I was scared. Due to Covid, only myself is there. The ambulance guy was there a few distance away. He should know who that nurse is. The answer is I barely can squeeze fingers after the attack. 2. I had Pfizer 1st dose on Jun 7, 2021. I had dizziness since then. On Jun 10, 2021, I even had increasing heart rate to a heart attack, almost passing out, and couldn't control my muscles. The problem is Dr. WONG Deny it is related to Pfizer vaccine. I went home and search online There's tons of studies showing it and its even in government website. Dr Wong kept saying there's no evident showing increasing heart rate is related to pfizer vaccine. That she is right and saying I can only give you a holster monitor. Anxiety is another side effect from Pfizer as you can search on internet. Dr. Wong noticed my heart rate bumps up whenever she talked with me, and I noticed even I walked, my heart rate bumps up quickly. So she said she will give me some pills to calm me down. Ironically, she is off. Then, another Dr picked up and kick me out of hospital right away based on all my CT scan, etc are clean. But did she really look at the file? I asked what about the calm pills that Dr Wong promised? That new Dr said, it's your routine anxiety, you have to deal with it, even I gave it to you, it will come back! ". In fact, to my understanding, all this increasing heart rate and anxiety Lv are all from the pfizer vaccine. You can go search online. I m not the only one suffering from this. I know covid is hard for all Dr. And hospitals. But it doesn't mean you can click out patients asap and not really understand their cases. Even Dr Wong at first didn't know I was got in by ambulance, heart attack, almost passing out, til I talk about it. Once I got back home. I called my GP in the next day. He is so smart and he knows what's happening He gave me appropriate medicine to treat my case correctly. I can't believe this emergency hospital is trying not to save people. I have palpitation once in every 10 mins when I get back home and in the next day. This hospital is hopeless.
my baby was delivered in Rmd Hosp I've been wanting to write a review but i hesitated because i had the best home care nurses who helped me and my baby and i'm so grateful i was fornunate to have them. However the nurses at the hospital i found them very bossy snobby and pressured you into breast feeding. I delivered naturally however i had stitches and because i had 4 nurses who coached no wait ...... yelled at me to push i was in a lot of pain and discomfort after the delivery. my baby was on a special floor due to Respiratory problems god forbid you forgot or slept through a nurse would come in and demand why you didn't come down to breast feed. this was years ago when the mat floor was under renovations and judging by the reviews i've read the service in general is thumbs down! Have a message for the nurses on the Maternity Floor the worst you can do to a new mom is use pressure to breast feed and yell at them if they are having problems!. I was turned off by breast feeding thanks to you ALL however my child is healthy happy and smart. Hope you will learn your lessons or a course in motherhood!.
The 10 stars go to admittance and surgery. Post surgery care was exceptional. On the 3rd floor surgery they get a minus 10. If I was an administrator i would get rid of a one nurse on the 3rd floor and send the rest to admittance and post surgery to get rehabilitated. They were atrocious and not that busy on the morning of thurs.may13. Overall exceptional and very happy with surgical team
i asked for a covid test and they said they couldnt give me one, but why the hell does it say covid testing center????????????????????????????????????? i'd assume its because i needed an appointment to make but it says "apppointment not required"???? i was told to go somewhere else in the morning, like i dont have anyone else living with me who could be vulnerable to covid... anyways if u wanna die come here! front desk person didnt even give me advice, she basically told me "boohoo go to this place in the morning and get ur test results then" ok thanks for ur support
Would not recommend going here until you are severely ill or bleeding. Waited 4hours to see a doctor and still could not. I guess best way manage healthcare is to frustrate people in not wanting one until they have no option.
Horrible experience, I had a small surgery done here a couple weeks ago and i remember asking the doctor several times to send in the referal to the surgeon that operated on me last time. The doctor which promised to do so neglected to send in the papers so ive been waiting weeks thinking im going to get a phone call. Im requesting a release of information to get the doctors name as is this is completely unacceptable. I will update with his name.
Decent hospital that can use a makeover. Feels like we are in a reality hospital series from the 80s
Omg there is nasty girl who works there. and her name is Steph
Richmond Hospital (RH) is a medical facility in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. The Vancouver Coastal Health Authority (VCH) is responsible for Richmond Health Services and Richmond Hospital. Richmond Hospital first opened February 26, 1966 with 132 beds, and was first known as Richmond General Hospital. The first patient was admitted and the first baby was born in the hospital on March 17, 1966. The original building is now known as the "North Tower"; the "South Tower" was completed in 1980. In 1992 Richmond General Hospital was rebranded as "The Richmond Hospital" while the Minoru Residence extended care facility was opened two years later. In 1997 the Westminster Health Centre building was opened to house administration, psychiatry and ambulatory care. The same year the hospital was amalgamated with the Vancouver/Richmond Health Board. In 1999, due to space opened up by opening the Westminster building, the Emergency Department and Diagnostic Imaging were considerably expanded. The Vancouver/Richmond Health Board was re-structured to become part of the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, which includes "Richmond Health Services" as the local umbrella organization. The hospital is currently part of Richmond Health Services and now known simply as "Richmond Hospital" (without the preceding "The"). Richmond Hospital is the only hospital in Richmond, British Columbia, and is a large community hospital with 200 beds serving the needs of residents in Richmond, Delta, as well as travelers using the Vancouver International Airport and BC Ferries. It is a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of British Columbia. The Emergency Department is classified as a Level 3 trauma centre, opens 24/7, and sees more than 50,000 patients annually. The hospital can provide most of the medical and surgical care for its patients. Some patients requiring highly specialized care would need to be transferred to tertiary care facilities in Vancouver. Richmond Hospital has transfer agreements and policies with Vancouver General Hospital, St. Paul's Hospital, British Columbia's Children's Hospital, and BC Women's Hospital and Health Centre. In addition to an established inpatient psychiatry unit and outpatient psychiatry services, a Psychiatric Emergency Unit was completed in March 2009 for short-term admission of psychiatric patients in crisis. In September 2009, the new $6.5 million birth centre opened. It features 15 private maternity care rooms, a six-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a maternity-specific operating room and recovery area.[citation needed] On April 8, 2009 the provincial government announced a $10 million upgrade package for RH. These renovations were completed in April, 2011 and include a 2,000-square-foot (190 m2) expansion and upgrade to the Emergency Department ($4.9 million), expansion of ambulatory surgical services ($2.9 million) and an expansion and upgrade of the Sterile Processing Department ($2.4 million).[citation needed] Non-medical amenities and enhancements include a large atrium inside the main entrance where one can find a Starbucks and a gift shop. There is a cafeteria on the second floor. There are several well-maintained gardens on the hospital property. The hospital is right beside Minoru Park which has many footpaths, trees and several small lakes. In April, 2014, work began on a $2 million renovation to the atrium area inside the main hospital entrance. It is funded almost entirely by the Milan and Maureen Ilich Foundation and scheduled for completion in August, 2014. The Westminster Health Centre building and the renovated atrium area will be renamed the Milan Ilich Pavilion. The reconfigured space will become a hub for information and services and include a new admitting desk, a dedicated family and patient centre and a simpler way-finding strategy. There will even be an expansion of the existing Starbucks outlet. During the COVID-19 pandemic, parking at Richmond Hospital became free for staff and visitors starting April 1, 2020.
I was informed the waiting time was 5 hours and told I could leave to eat but make sure I return within that 5 hour frame. I returned after 2 hours and was told to wait for another 5 hours.
I would if I could give a negative star if possible. My granddaughter was transferred here from Children's Hospital as she was getting better and they needed the bed for another sick child. When at Richmond hospital my family was not treated with care, They gave my granddaughter the wrong medication, and she went blue and called a code red. Richmond almost killed my granddaughter, if it wasn't for my sons quick action's she would of died. They have now been transferred out of that horrible place...
Went to Emergency and had to wait 5 hours before a Doctor could see my eye (got something in my eye) Saw an old man sitting besides me in the waiting area bleeding because of injuries on his face, no body attended him for 2 hours. Man should have patched himself up instead.
One of the worst emergency places to seek help!! Been here a few times in the past and all long waits. Had 8 ppl go in already that came in after me. The only way anyone will care for you is if you are a bloody mess or you have body parts missing. Not joking!
I have been to Richmond Hospital on a number of occasions for both myself and my partner. The service that I have gotten at this hospital has been very good. Even some of the more simple cases that we have had to come in with have still had the up most care. Sure, sometimes they may be very busy on their shifts, and sometimes people take it personally on why they are not in quickly, but they are doing the best job that they can do with the resources that have been given to them. All the hospital staff I have had on the most part have been very professional and understanding.. There are a couple that I would think differently about. Quite a few of the doctors and even nurses have been able to put me at ease when I have been having a difficult time with some of the things. Want to be able to thank all the staff for their efforts during the different cases that they deal with. Emergency, Diagnostic Imaging staff, as well as a couple of nurses on 3 North were exceptional. Despite what some of the other people have said, Richmond is a fairly good hospital.
Great nurses, doctors, and staff at the birthing center!!!
I was brought in by ambulance after a seizure not only did I not even see a nurse a second set of ambulance attendants made the distinction that I could sit in chairs in a waiting room not a question asked about meds ibwas taking or had taken or anything only told that it would be a 10 tob15 hour wait I walked out no one noticed me leave pretty sad when I do as a doc directs and I get no care
Very caring nurses, anticipates your needs and provides it before you even ask, thanks to you all
Requested a copy of the images for my Dad through the doctor's office in March from the Radiology Film Desk. Received two discs on April 19th and one of them wasn't burnt properly so neither of my laptop or work computer could read it. Called them back countless times - most of the time you have to leave a vm as no one would pick up the phone. I was lucky to get my call answered once by Donna. After a long battle of phone conversation with Donna, she agreed to re-burn the Echocardiogram disc and have their reception call me once it's ready for pick up. It was April 27th. I called back every week for followup but never got my phone or vm answered for the past 3 weeks. I'm defeated. The reason I asked for a copy is that my Dad is out of country and was diagnosed with either newly developed pulmonary embolism (blood clogs near heart veins that are connecting to the lungs), or pre-existing ones that you just have to live with for the rest of your life on medication. If it was newly developed, the doctors will take aggressive treatment to have them dissolved within a short period of time; if it was pre-existing then aggressive treatment would not be appropriate as it will ultimately increase the risk of inner bleeding, especially for seniors. So this is truly a life-death situation. After this painful long battle with the Radiology reception, my Dad has missed the best timeframe for dissolving the blood clogs if it was newly developed and would have to live with short of breath and other painful symptoms for the rest of his life. I know the doctors there are very responsible and make professional judgements and try to save lives and alleviate pain for their patients. I do not understand why the admin side of the Richmond General Hospital is trying everything to achieve the opposite. Do you have any idea how your negligence of your duties would impact people's lives, Donna? Please do not abuse the authorization and power that granted to you by your role. People's lives are at stake after all. I am furious as this omission has done a permanent damage to my Dad's health, his longevity, and likely the quality of his retirement life. I know for sure next time when Richmond General Hospital's charity donation event comes around, I would turn them down as I don't think I would support such staff and such behavior on top of my tax money. In the meantime, I will seek legal consultation if my Dad's situation gets worse. Updates - Aug. 2, 2018 Still haven’t received the disc or any response to my official complaint to the Patient Care Quality division on May 18, 2018. This is more than frustrating and disappointing - so even the management isn’t setup in a way to show care and willingness for improvements. Don’t get sick or old folks; as it is a pathetic state to be in, especially with such treatments from our medical professionals.
I called Richmond General Hospital to follow up on my family members surgery. Operator and front desk agent were helpful and finally transferred to surgery department for more details. However, surgery repsentative quickly replies with cannot give you any information unless it's wife. Excuse me, patient is not married and no wife. Your staff member then just disconnects the phone. This is terrible service and very unprofessional. Hospital director should really coach your staff with people skills and service. Also feedback, 5-6am parking lot entrance driveway leading to main entrance and emergency was not snow plowed. Vehicles are not able to see the lane divider/islands. Parking lot was fine.
I dont care how many 1 stars there are. This is a great hospital. Any hospital you have to wait to see a dr. The drs intern saw me 1st asked questions and did what she was supposed to do. Dr saw me and explained what needed to be done within 2.5 to 3 hrs I was out of there and everything was good. They have good nurses and drs that care about you.
The front desk lady was always on the phone and the triage nurse was so impatient and rushed the patient. Not even a “please” but demanded you to sit down and did whatever she asked. And the nurse raised her tone and made unhappy face when I needed some time to describe my situation. But the other staffs were nice. Except for the always on phone front desk lady and the always in rush and unhappy triage nurse lady.
What can I say? Nobody likes to come here but the staff made such a comfortable experience for me that I wasn't frustrated afterwards for waiting 5 hours to get my finger stitched despite bleeding non stop. Wonderful staff, they traded the grumpy and old for younger, more energetic nurses and doctors.
I've always appreciated the kind, caring staff and friendly help of their many volunteers.
Just had a MPFL reconstruction surgery there and I had a consult appointment once before. Both times I have been blown away by the level of care give to me. The attention to detail, the attention given to me, the doctors, everyone is smiling and so friendly! They all took their time to make sure all of my questions were answered and I was comfortable. Completely blown away by the level of care I received.
its 3 am. Ive been here since 11 pm waiting for a doctor to atleast talk to my aunt. Help me please
WORST HOSPITAL IN BC DO NOT GO IN YOU WILL NOT BE TREATED WELL AND YOU WILL SITTING FOR WHOLE DAY EVEN IF YOUR IN SERIOUS CONDITION EVERYONE GO TO LADNER HOSPITAL OR VGH YOU BEEN WARNED NURSES ARE CLUELESS UNPROFFESSIONALS
Great staff and clean Hospital. I took my son there for a twisted ankle and the staff and doctors were very helpful and surprisingly the wait wasn't too long.
The worst hospital on the planet--no exaggeration. I called to inquiry some medical treatment in the hospital, the operator could not wait to hang up the phone because "it's very busy time". And she did before I finished my sentence. Is it a busy to to serve patients or a busy time to hang up the phone on patients? Irresponsible, incapable, and useless.
GP write letter let me go to emergency; after Wait over 3 hrs, just ask nurse how long I still need to wait, they answer”if you r not emergency you could go to GP”, I told them GP let me come here, nurse” then you just wait”. ! This is attitude!!!!
Had an emergency operation done on me. Couldn't eat for days and the nurse just ignored me whenever I was in such extreme pain or was starving. Literally had to call several nurses to get food, despite the fact that doctor's gave me the go ahead to eat. Never have I been treated so poorly and in such a serious situation. Also, surgeons screwed up on my surgery so I was bleeding internally for 12 hours and they pretty much told me that I couldn't get the second surgery until I signed a paper stating I would not sue them. Terrible hospital and terrible people. If you want to know what its like being treated like a piece of butchered meat come to Richmond Hospital!!
Had to wait in line
I brought my wife to this hospital with a severe fever and shivering. We went to the emergency. We waited for hours and hours to see the doctor. After the exams, the doctor said she had to stay in the hospital. But there weren't enough beds, she had to wait again for an empty bed. When we got an empty bed she stayed there for a little less than a week, then they said someone else needed this bed and they made her stay in the ICU waiting room until they had her new bed ready. When she got the new "room" I can't even believe that it's considered a room. It's just a bed. The space is so small even the nurse is having a hard time trying to get in. There's no emergency equipment, they have her a small desk bell in case she needed a nurse. In that room they had a vent where the fume and dust come out right on top of her head, it gave her bad anxiety. She told the nurse and they covered it with tape and cloth. I asked the nurse to change the room but she said that there are more than 10 people waiting at the emergency for a bed. The nurse and the doctors are really good, it's just the hospital overall. I hope someone will do something about this, but I doubt it. Not just for my wife, but for everyone in general. When I look at the reviews all I see are negative reviews.
Extremely rude and unqualified staff. Everytime I need to visit or contact this hospital it reminds me how little trust I have of them if I have a real health emergency. Last time I was in emergency the nurses were so unprofessional, that an off duty nurse came in to gossip and chat with my attending nurse before her shift, my terribly unqualified DR then came in and started talking about social justice issues and her political ideologies while not really focusing on my medical treatment. Now today I needed some records and the woman in the records department was rude, unhelpful and the most unprofessional medical employee I've seen in a long time. Her explanations were all medical jargon using terms only employees would understand and upon requesting clarification she literally hung up on me and then refused to answer further calls. Clearly she was likely hired to meet some progressive diversity quota as opposed to her ability to do her job effectively. But then again seems like the entire hospital is a make a work program.
nice staff
When asked for help, one of the male nurses was very rude and had the audacity to insulted my teenage brother directly to my mom with 3 family members as witnesses in a vulnerable situation. When he was addressed about the insult he insisted on his statement and insulted my brother again as he walked away pretending to mind his business... talk about a great lack of compassion for your patients... Is this how you train your nurses?? To insult their most vulnerable patients to their righteously anxious and worried parent and family ? TWICE? A Shame to think that you can get treated like this at a hospital.
Richmond Hospital staff are simply wonderful and kind people! Except one doctor... Not bad at all. MRI, Ultra Sound, x-ray departments exceptional staff. I was so nervous about my first vaccine which was March! The nurses!!!! are so compassionate, gentle and supportive! Thank you Richmond General
Appointment, few minutes ago, I was on my way home, a call from this Hospital arranging an appointment to me, I asked on Monday and Friday only, someone gave me a date, and not sure what it is. I had to check it myself, it is on Monday(my favor). Why he/she cannot answer it???
Went to the ER for what turned out to be appendicitis and all of the staff have been very kind and professional. The teams work together really well and took great care of me.
I’ve work her staff are nice and friendly, clean and easy access in all area.
Usually, the ER has very long lines, but overall the service is pretty good.
Not professional nurses! The doctor asked the nurse to give me IV..she was trying to find a vein..she looks like she wasn’t sure of her job! She poked me sooo hard! I was suffering from kidney pain! But her needle killed me more! she called another nurse to do the job instead of her! And he found the vein in 2 sec ! I had bruise on my arm ( size of mandrin )! I wish if i can post a picture of my arm here!!
Kept clean and following all the required protocol.
I have birth at the maternity ward and all of the nurses and doctors have been so kind, patient and amazing! They have been by my side as I was in constant extreme contraction pains. They have also taught me so much about how to care for my baby.
Had a wonderful experience at Richmond hospital. Nurses and Doctors were friendly and helpful. From the start we received the support we needed with quick service. Thanks to our Nurses Christine, Dorothy, Fiona and the rest of team.
My mom took my sister into the hospital, and she was having a hard time going to the bathroom. They handed my mom a fleet and asked her to do it herself, my mom doesn’t know how to insert a fleet suppository like most people, I was so alarmed that the nurse said that and walked away. When she returned my mom told her that she doesn’t know how to do it and it would be better if the nurses could try, the nurse said sure we will try. The nurse also said they’re short staffed because it was a Sunday. My mom understood however they sent my sister home when my sister of resisted, it has been 15 days since my sister has had a BM. My sister has down syndrome so it’s very hard for her to understand how important it is to have a BM. My mom was going again today and I’m really hoping that the nurses will be help them out. I am so disappointed.
I know hospitals are always busy. They try their best. They help me way more then the police could. Just be patient with their work because it's a lot to get to. Some nurses are nice some are rude. Thats just life
I normally do not leave reviews, but I would like to thank all the nurse team from the Maternity, all the staff was great during the delivery of our daugher. , and after the postpartum. I would like to send a thank you for all the staff and leave a 5 star review! Keep up the great work guys! :)
Had our second baby girl delivered in the birth center. We can't express enough how thankful we are to have such super friendly nurses, you guys are super powerful , helpful , I like the way how to encourage the patient with lovely smile. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the care packages we have received. Thanks a million :)
I underwent artery surgery there and wish to thank all those involved with my care, all the nursing staff ICU and 4 floor were excellent. I am extremely grateful.
One of the worst hospitals in Vancouver. The nurses are extremely rude and behave like they don’t like patients at all. I had severe allergic reaction to my body and nurses were laughing at each other while i kept asking for a doctor. They didn’t even care to take the situation seriously at all. And whenever i asked to see a dr, they were extremely rude at me. And this is not the first time they are like these. I had faced similar incidents before with my friends and families here. I wish there were other hospitals in Richmond so that we could avoid this miserable place
Great nurses and Doctors....!! Have had great results .
this place has so many one star reviews for a reason
I don’t understand why it’s always seems like there is only one doctor in this hospital, I promised my self I’ll never go to emergency again but last night my 2 years old son has a high fever , and I tried to Cole him at home but I was a bit worried, so I took him to Richmond hospital, the emergency room was almost empty, no patients maybe only three patients in the waiting area, and just a few in side, we had to wait almost 3hours and no doctor yet . I understand it’s not a live threatening situation but after waiting my son started fell well because the Madison start to kick on I left the hospital and I did not see a doctor, and they saw my leaving they didn’t even bother to ask me why or where you’re going?
Wait times are insane, the waiting rooms are not properly monitored and so other patients are left to help eachother, and staff are VERY unfriendly. Waited 5 hours and didnt see ANY doctor at all.
A family member was in care at RGH for over a week and we found all the staff to be very caring and supportive and good to deal with. Nursing staff called me with updates I requested on my relative's surgery which relieved a lot of anxiety. Plus the physio staff work tirelessly and carefully to get people on their feet and moving again. These are good people and the family was very pleased with the level of care. Thanks.
I went to emergency room on Sunday 5 am, was not busy at all, but after 3 hours sitting on a bed when I asked a male nurse how long more it gonna takes, he replied very rude that: " it is not 1st come 1st serve! if you want to leave I will just take your name of board" and that was right few min earlier I heard him telling a new patient next to me:" the doctor will see you in half an hour" so I left without seeing a doctor back home!
I was born here 20 years ago, thanks for not screwing it up
0/5. DO NOT COME HERE. If you want to die come here. Misdiagnose both my mom and dad on 3 separate occasions. Extremely poor management. Doctors here are unprofessional and unqualified. They will leave a needle in your brain. AVOID AT ALL COST!
be careful this officer from metro parking, writing parking ticket while people in the car and throwed the ticket at me.
Crowded, dirty, staff dismissive. The nurses were mostly very nice, I was in surgical daycare. So disorganized and they must have little communication with each other because I'd be given the same printouts and asked the same questions about four times a day. 7 people in one small ward, no doors just curtains. And no sleep The OT's were unbelievably rude, they'd walk into your room unannounced at 8 Am and start yelling-well one young man yelled when he s spoke, they were all loud though. Then they'd leave without closing the curtain, leaving you unable to move much due to surgery, frustrated because it meant any awkward attempt at dressing would be viewed by everyone. Hospital food is never good, this set a standard that is worse but I have no word to describe it. The waste of food is a shame, most don't eat it, How is it possible to make tea taste that bad? It was also dirty, I would brush my teeth in the bathroom it disgusted me so much.
Can I choose no starts??? Got a bad coughing and sinus. Probably just need a prescription for cortisol and a better syrup then Rubitusin but after 3 hours haven't seen the doc yet.... what the f*???? When asked a nurse about the doc, she just said the wait can be between 3h and 6h. As the day goes by... it can be longer..... What a joke!!!! Missing Saint Paul's hospital in downtown!!!
For all of you with your petty grievances get a life. Richmond General is one of the most professionally run clinics in the world. Sure it's not all sparkly and glamorous like Eisenhower Medical Center or any of the other one of the private clinics in the U.S. but you cheap no minds couldn't afford those prices anyway and should be on your knees thanking God you have access to great medical service basically for FREE. I would love to have the option to put my loved one in a glamorous hospital up here in Vancouver. They simply don't exist. We need some funding from Health Canada and Christy Clarks Government to get on the ball and streamline and beautify what ever hospitals we do have. My partner has been sick with a serious terminal Cancer since last July. Richmond General has been top notch, from Doctor Rapaport who did the initial surgery, to Dr. Jeremy Ho and all the staff at the Cancer Care Clinic. They are on top of everything, and assist in a loving and compassionate way. So buzz off all you small minded self entitled little weenies. This is one of the best hospitals in the world. (Believe me I've travelled extensively and been to most of them)
No help whatsoever. No wonder people have no respect for hospital staff, when they have no respect for patients.
Had my first baby here late April. The entire staff at the birthing center was extremely friendly, professional and caring. There wasn't anyone I encountered who didn't care about their work. They made us feel extremely welcome, taken care of and relaxed. So happy I delivered here. These doctors and nurses are the absolute best.
Come to see the sick, stay for the parking ticket
I have a wonderful experience from this hospital . They examined me right away after I arrived at the emergency room! They needed to remove my appendix, so they scheduled my surgery the next day, a very nice team of nurses who took care of me last weekend, thank you, and of course big thanks to my amazing surgeon Dr. Jason Faulds and other doctors who were very kind and careful with me during operation! A lot of thanks! I am very grateful for having such an amazing team of nurses and doctors around me these few days!
Horrible service! Rude nurses!! I've been waiting with something in my eye for over 2 hours still haven't seen anyone!!! Rather just leave then wait for nothing!
Parking super expensive
Get sick somewhere else.
The hospital is overwhelmed with passport babies and freeloaders who like"free healthcare in Canada" compared to their country of origin...The nurses and staff know this, doctors know this , NO NEED TO BE FRUSTRATED WITH THE STAFF PEOPLE!! The staff here do their job the best they can under the repetitive circumstances including being abused by patients themselves. Expect wait times, these are the sign of the times...and it wont get better as the lower mainland is totally money hungry and allowed too many new folks in because they had money.......conveniently forgetting to upgrade hospitals and road infrastructure for us regular hard working folk. Dont knock on the HARD WORKING STAFF at RGH.......the issue is overwhelmingly right under our nose......
The quality and staff treating are great.
Not being racist. But as an asian, when l m feel really sick and meet my people there and who can speak the same language make me feel the way better and secure. Hospital looks crap externally but inside and doctors' abilities are expected.
Bone marrow biopsy Friday and CT scan today (Tuesday) Both appointments were on time or a bit early. The staff was very efficient and cheerful and polite. Including the coffee staff at Star bucks after my procedure. I'll come back here if the need arises.
Amazing staff at the maternity ward at Richmond Hospital! Me and and my wife spent 6 days there with our newborn and the staff went above and beyond. From the beginning they gave us all the information we needed and always provided support when we needed it. Special thanks to Dorothy, Louise, harmeet, shally, Erin and debrah and every other nurse. Overall amazing experience. Can’t wait to see you guys in 3 years (:
Starbucks is located just inside the main entrance with indoor and outdoor seating
My daughter was born there . Quite and very friendly.
(Translated) After waiting for five hours without seeing the doctor, he said that he had to wait for 8 hours without giving a quilt pillow, urinary symptoms, and not drinking water. My doctor did not receive my test report (Original) 等了五小時還沒見著醫生,説要等候8小時,沒給被子枕頭,泌尿方面的症狀,不給水喝。我的家醫也未收到我的檢驗報告
Staff are always kind when I come here. They want the best for you and want to understand what you are going through. It is just always a long wait if you are either outside waiting to go into a room or inside waiting for someone to come check on you - you need to be really patient. Once a staff does start talking to you, they are all friendly and wants what is best for you. The nurses are kind, one time I came really late at night and fell asleep, and a nurse put a hot blanket over me to keep me warm. Your information for why you are here gets around, so you do not need to repeat yourself to every single doctor/nurse/worker that comes to check on you as they already know from the other workers which makes it efficient. When I needed to get an x-ray back in March, the guy was super friendly and made me feel comfortable as he walked me down to the x-ray room and the doctor who gave me a sling had a great friendly personality which also made me feel comfortable. The front desk lady on the same night was super kind and made me feel calm as I was nervous to be there.
Two days ago, I was having fever and went to the emergency of the Richmond General Hospital at 9pm. After waiting for 1.5 hours in the waiting room, I was finally brought into a small room inside and was given a thin sheet to cover myself. I was waiting in the room wrapped by the thin sheet, frozen and shaking. During the course of one hour, NO ONE nurse came in to check how I was doing. I had to go out myself to ask for a thicker blanket and asked how long I had to wait more. A young nurse was very rude telling me this was the waiting time. Later on, an elderly nurse brought in a thick blanket. I was waiting for another 40 minutes before the doctor finally showed up. NO nurse came in again. The doctor spent no more than 4 minutes to check my illness and let me go. She told me the fever was caused by virus, nothing she could do. No explanation of what kind of the virus it's, no further exam, no medication, around midnight, I left the hospital. My lips were swelling, my fever was worse, the headache was killing me... I was wondering why I came to here at the first place, and why they even call here "EMERGENCY"??? Isn't it the nurses' responsibilities to take care of the patients, instead of leaving them alone in a cold room? Isn't it the doctor's responsibilities to help the patient understand clearly of what's the problem they are having and give them sound advice of how to get better, instead of just saying taking care of yourself ???
Some nurse are better than the others, inconsistent quality of care.
staff is very nice
Waited for almost 3 hours for doctor in emergency room and when asked from staff they are super rude... will never come back here
Waiting is painfully long and it seems to be no doctor available everytime were here. Im so disappointed on their waiting time. Hospital should focus more to their patient. Were gonna start looking for a better hospital. I don't recommed coming here in any kind of treatment specially emergency situation.
The emergency rooms in Canada are where they just leave people to die honestly.....I've been here to the Richmond hospital with family members a few times and the wait is ridiculously inhumane, 5 HOURS OR MORE EACH TIME. We come to "emergency" rooms for a reason. What kind of a system is this?!?!
The medical staff here are dedicated to their patients, and it shows.
Returned Canadian went to emergency to get catheterization. Was charged 1130 dollars for that. Receptionist is a rude thief. May all her chickens die.
I was there as a emergency and some test . Always helpful. I appreciate ????
Worst surgery experience ever. The day before surgery I went for blood work and an ECG. The man taking my blood and the woman doing my ECG have to be the most cold people I have ever met. The man didn't even talk to me, he was quite rough and he bruised my arm for 2 days. Then the woman doing my ECG grabbed me by the shoulder and pushed me down when she thought I was going to take my shirt off and that REALLY upset me. Then on the day of surgery I was kept waiting for over 2 hours due to staff shortages. In that two hours MULTIPLE staff, patients and visitors were walking around without masks. They force them on you at the door but no one enforces that you wear them. On top of that I found 90% of the staff to he impersonal and uncaring (due to their staff shortage but that's not my fault). I made everyone aware I have anxiety and ptsd around surgery due to the loss of a child and hardly anything was done to make the experience more comfortable for me. They allowed my husband to be in the recovery room with me but I had to be the one to call him even though I had no idea where I was (and was in the middle of a panic attack). Now it's been a couple days since my surgery and I am progressively getting more sore. I have charlie horses from the base of my skull down to my ankles. My throat is also becoming more swollen and sore as well. This did not happen to me after the last two surgeries I've undergone and I honestly feel like these people were so rough with me while I was unconscious. Unless you enjoy cold, unpleasant, impersonal, uncaring, unfriendly, rushed staff that don't respect your mental health needs and who make you feel like a burden I absolutely do not reccomended Richmond General for surgery.
Its okay....yes they work 12 hour days, they over see many patients who either can't understand or cant comprehend what's happening or just plain sick. Some nurses not all are just overall rude, they raise their voices at you look stress, give you attitude, seem lazy. Obviously many are doing their job and trying to do an honest days work, but their communication is lacking.
I've always had a good experience every time I've visited.
Ridiculous wait times at the emergency room. Been waiting for 8hrs and haven’t seen the doctor yet (still waiting). I was told there’s only one doctor on duty overnight. Obviously they need to look into how to better staff to the need. Not sure what’s the point of being ER otherwise?
(Translated) You have to spend the rest of your life waiting for a doctor to meet the slowest hospital in Vancouver. If it is an emergency, it is highly recommended to go to other hospitals for your life. (Original) 你要花一辈子去等医生来,在温哥华遇到过最慢的医院。如果是急诊,强烈建议去其他医院,为了你的生命
Friendly staff
Amazing staff and easy to access and good environment
Great nurses and facilities
Had our first baby in Richmond hospital in May of this year. The entire staff at the birth center was just terrific! All the nurses, doctors and support staff were extremely helpful, caring and attentive. Giving birth at Richmond Hospital was the best decision ???? Thank you so much entire Birth center team. We ( my spouse & I) will remember each and everyone of you for rest of our life ????????
The service is kind of slow, but staff are nice and very knowledgeable.
Dr. Daniel S. Kopac took care of my Dad who had two separate hernia surgeries. One was more complicated than the other as my Dad had a hernia surgery years ago, and the hernia burst again in the same spot. He is pleased with the work performed by Dr. Kopac and told me to rate him 5 stars.
Long time wait. This is the only General hospital in Richmond
Minoru Park is a pleasant place to sit and relax and watch the ducks geese and squirrels and occasionally an owl.
I was in the hospital for having ear pain, sitting in waiting area for about a hour, then a nurse called me name and asked me to sit in a roon and wait till doctor visit me, sitting in the small room for another hour and nobody cares why you are there. That is really ridiculous
We would like to express big gratitude to staff of Richmond hospital in ER unit for their wonderful service that my wife has received during our short trip to Vancouver. We noticed that the staffs of ER unit were very well organized, streamlining the intake, to waiting time and having the nurses and doctor being very efficient with communications, procedures without sacrificing empathy and compassion to patients. We were impressed with this streamline procedures and believe based on our experiences with ER in other facility, Richmond Hospital should set a standard and manual for other hospitals to adopt. We were in and out of the ER in less in than 2 hours as opposed to 8 hours in other ER centres we previously experienced. Once again thank you for your excellent, and efficient clinical services.
Had our baby girl delivered here in the Birth Center and it was a very pleasant experience with friendly and helpful team. We were helped before the birth by nurses showing us multiple things to do to help move the baby down and prepare for delivery. The were ALL SUPER FRIENDLY and I am happy we went there. As for other parts of the hospital went in the ER for ourselves twice other than usual cpl hours of wait they were good.
Shorter wait times than average. Staff are friendly minus the odd person. Only complaint is that there is limited seating in the ED
Came here at 4pm, now 11:37pm. Almost waiting for 8 hours, still hasn’t seen the doctor. This is ridiculous. I give 2 stars because most of the staff are nice.
Very unprofessional in the emergency department. I over heard an hour long gossip group about all their patients “didn’t wanna help him so I sent him to another hospital” And things like “she was whiny because he had a headache.” Followed by laughter. They also wouldn’t let me use an extra blanket or pillow and watched me shiver trying to burying under my jacket while waiting for them. If you’re not dying- make a trip to a different hospital.
This hospital is a flipping joke unless you're not white ,then you get taken In right away and seen by a doctor right away pretty sad. I waited over three hours with breathing problems and had no treatments. I could have died in that hospital bed and nobody would have known. Pretty sad! I ended up leaving ...I'll deal with my breathing problems my own way without a doctor's help.
Such a rude receptionist.
Great staff very understanding and detailed in their work.
The parking fees are outrageous and it's uphauling to expect out patients to pay extra for parking if their treatments are delayed due to acute patients given first treatments . If that's the case , the hospital should pay for the additional parking fees
Very bad costumers services. Smell very bad . People we’re rude.
My dad was vomitting blood all they could do was an x-ray to check for blockage and gave him an i.v. sent him home to go to his family dr. Definitely not a hospital you want to go to if it's serious do they not have more then an x-ray machine?
Just back from from a major surgery to my leg that was performed at RGH and was treated wonderfully. My every needed was handled well, if I did have to buzz they came fairly quickly. I was in the second floor yellow surgical recovery and every staff member I ran into was patient and helpful and went out of their way to make me comfortable. Two really amazing things were that, with a multi national staff, it meant that every patient was spoken to in their own language. Very impressive! But more than that, the day time nurse there for two days, found out I was going home alone without a strong support team waiting, and went way above and beyond in helping me out. I am indebted to her forever. Negatives: it's a hospital that has seen better days, hostel food tastes horrible like hospital food, and it was weirdly very loud at night with machinery sounds. **Wow, so many petty reviews on here from people shouldn't have gone to the emergency room tying the staff up. And here's a hint, try taking to the staff with respect and I'll guarantee they'll treat you better.
No good at wrist assessment
The doctors, nurses and techs were great.
Nasty, Dishonest, Intimidating &Poor Treatment @ Emergency Unit On Jan 3, 9pm, I brought my child to the emergency. My child got sick and has had small amount of pee only once every 24 hours past 3 days. The chinese nurce she had bob hair worn black glasses at triage downplayed my child condition. She hadn't asked me about symptoms yet at that time and the nurse shouldn't diagnose patients anyway. Patient was waiting for her to ask questions, she helped other patient except me. When I tried to ask her to get water for my child, she exploded and sounded off to me about her busy schedule. It is non of my business. If she have a complaint about her working place, she should talk to work BC instead of taking it on me as a patient. Actually my friend worn to me before, she was also treated badly from this same nurse. Dr. Kim just saw my child and told me that my child looked happy so no problem. I told her to check my child and ask me the symptoms first before she said that. She just told me to force my child to drink every 5 min. She was in bad mood and went out to talk to the nurse. She could checking my child before she went to gossip. The male nurse came in our room. He hid his name tag. He was angry and yelled at me that "You cannot go home when your child pee!" My child was scared of him and shrunk with a fear and hide from him. I was also afraid such a angry man intimidating us. I told him to change to the different nurse. For more than 5hours, my child had to keep drinking water and did pee little. Only the nurse came and told me we could go home. Dr. Kim didn't show up to send urine to the laboratory and even didn't check it. She also didn't explained me when should I bring my child to the hospital at all. After we went back, my child was still looked dehydrated. On Jan, 4th, 5am, I called emergency to get to connected to the doctor or nurse. A Filipino female reception refused me to connect to them. I asked her name and she suddenly transferred me to triage. He told me that Dr. Kim checked my child's urine. I told him that its not true then he just transferred me to somewhere else without telling me. Neil, who was answered me suddenly accused me aggressively saying that I was rude and hang up on me right away. I called them back again and the Canadian female receptionist didn't listen to me and kept talking hysterically then hang up on me again. I asked the name but she didn't tell her name as well. I was surprised their unprofessional, dishonest and disrespectful behaviors. I can tell when there is medical error or accident in this emergency, they won't try to explain to patient but also they will harass patient like this. And I think it is not first time they did it. This place was mistake. I have to go to proper place to get my child tested and treated what we couldn't. I will not recommend anyone to come here. There are huge problems in this place.
Very bad terrible services.they keep you waiting for long long time for giving nothing and you dont get better if they give you anuthing. My son was getting fever and cough for 15 days i went to richmond hospital they kept me waiting for more than 3 hours and the doc said he is ok and he didnt even give anything.my son was actully got pneumonia and they i did second visit to richmond hospital and insist the doctor to do blood test .he did blood test and he find out he has pneumonia my son won't be able to digest even water but i was very upset doctor didnt even give him anything .omg i was soo unhappy this kind of treatment this is not accetable .i went to richmond hospital 3 times they said your son is look ok to me .i was suprised like he is throughing up and getting diarrhea. I wont be sleep from 10 days .i am soo sad to see my child now i am taking him to children hospital .such a bad doctors .
They did not take care of my mother and , they did not check her up and decided to send her home after giving some pain killers without any tests. She was in severe pain and needed a thorough treatment rather than pain relief. While she was waiting for her ride she fainted and they took her back into the room. Barely anyone knows how to do their job. Nurses seem racist and lack compassion. Lady that answers the phone is also extremely rude. They don't allow anyone to visit due to covid which is understandable , so tried calling to get an update on my mother's condition. The lady said ; 'Don't call and disturb us,we're busy'. Told her that they do not allow us to visit, the least they can do is give a brief update on the phone. She said "no I can't give any updates, and you can get all the info you want when she is awake if she feels like calling. You're disturbing us." They decided to start taking it out on my mother, saying that her family is disturbing her. Overall These employees need a serious training session for serving their patients with compassion, care and making necessary tests. My mother told me she also saw an old addict whom was upset about the long wait time, he was not violent, disturbing or a threat. He was complaining about having to wait for longer than 6 hours. The nurses called the police and the police got this man on the floor and started to be violent and aggressive, the man was not retaliating and they proceeded to beat him and hand cuff him. Disturbing how they treat addicts and people of colour.
the emergency line up is a joke..... took 6 hours
Horrible - my mom was admitted, got COVID during their outbreak due to your lax infection control, the doctor discharged her anyway, and she ended up going to VGH a few days later where she got actual good care but by then it was too late and she passed away. Save your trouble and your life potentially by avoiding this hospital
Extremely long wait times, you will probably be dead by the time you get treatments. Multiple nurses are just walking around doing nothing. They walk in and out of the room but never ask if you need anything. Not enough doctors for the amount of patients. The beds are dirty as hell. They just put a thin bed sheet on the dirty bed that thousands of other patients threw up on. I can still see the stains on the bed. You will end up catching something even more serious because the wait time is so long in the triage emergency waiting room. Every sick patient will be crammed in that room waiting to get called, so you don't know what the person next to you have contacted. Always wear a mask.
I shouldn't have come here. They didn't care at all to take seriously my injury. I have a neurological condition and scoliosis. I injured something in my neck/back/spine and it has already been 3 months without improvement. I have daily pain all through my neck/back/spine and cannot move my head normally. I re-injured it again today. They said to "give it time". It has already been 3 months. They declined to even do an Xray or anything at all so that we can know what exactly what is wrong. I don't understand why they treat people this way. This isn't supposed to be so difficult. This is why I never come to a hospital. Every time I am never treated with respect or care. I just leave frustrated with more confusion and hopelessness.
Hi my name is benny armstrong and i had the worst experience ever with this hospital. When i was picked up along in my effects with my cell phone was almost a thousand dollars which magically went missing. Transit police said they had sealed my money in my effects bag and some how my money dissappeared said the ambulance driver. He said to me well maybe the bag wasnt sealed proper. Im so livid right now. I have an investigation being launched over it. Tomorrow the lead investigator is getting involved.
Had the best care at the Cancer Center, Laboratory, Radiology, Cardiology, Pulmonary and Front desk staff. Thank you for the kind and prompt service.
I went for emergency this weekend. Very impatient and rude receptionist lady, the attitude I got came from nowhere, she was just asking my info and response my simple questions...this reminds me of that staff works at ICBC, maybe you two are sisters? The reason I didn’t rate you 1 star because the doctor I met was actually really nice, patient, helpful and really wanted to help. I did receive some nice treatment from some nice stuff. But not everyone, I’m not expecting to be treated like an VIP or what. But when a patient who can barely walk and could hardly speak is in front of you and you just have to treat him/her in such bad attitude. That’s very unprofessional for me. And one of your male nurse is having very strong accent and inpatient.I could barely understand his words. He just kept going and made my headache worse. I’m just one of the regular patient telling me true experience.
Excellent
If I could give this hospital a zero, I would. I checked into the emergency room a few nights ago with trouble breathing and coughing. The wait room was full of people. I sat there waiting for 3 hours all the while watching countless people leave due to the wait time to see a doctor. When I was finally called to go in I had already waited 4 hours. They set me up in a room a told me to wait and that I was the first in line to see a doctor. I waited another 2 hours before a nurse came in and told me to go home because all they had was one doctor on duty and they had more serious cases in front of me. So they wasted a total of 6hrs of my time and the entire night and early morning just to tell me this. My condition got worse when I got home so I went to VGH where the wait wasn't as long... only 3 hrs before a I saw a doctor who told me I needed surgery to repair an undiagnosed leaky heart valve. They checked me in and ran all the test in less time than it took for me to wait at the insufferable Richmond hospital. Thanks to the staff and doctors and the much more competent and efficient VGH. I swear I will never trust my life ever again to those useless sacks at Richmond hospital.
The last hospital in the lower mainland that anyone should go to. Poor service with unprofessional staff especially those who are working in the emergency room.
Had surgery there and everyone from the moment I got there were amazing. Very thorough nursing staff and the most pleasant I have ever dealt with.
Today we stay here over 5 hours to waiting doctor and x ray check. So bad experience in Richmond hospital. But the doctor and nurse are nice. I hope Richmond hospital can speed up.
I would give zero star there is no option for me to rate this hospital a great zero. This hospital charge you plenty of money and gives the insurance people that it is paitent fault that they are admitted in hospital and insurance will not pay the amount because of this statement which is not true. Hospital is not so secured and also they get doctors outside from their hospital who charge plenty of money. I recommend not going to this hospital knowingly. They also faulty medical records and they have told my sister she had bacteria in her body but instead the sample bottle they were collecting blood was having bacteria because of that my sister stayed one day more at the hospital.
Just want to give a huge thanks to the ER's Dr. Wong for helping my 90 year old grandma. My grandma had a bad fall and had multiple wounds and a fractured wrist. They patched her up and had her wrist realigned and cast within 5 hours. Also want to thank nurses Judy and Melissa to tending to grandma's needs. Thank you.
I just had to walk home without shoes because I was taken in an ambulance without my bank card and the nurse on staff at 12:30 AM 03/28/18 wouldn't give me a voucher and I didn't have cab fare on me. Thanks Richmond hospital for the rocks I stepped on, on my way home, and the cold. Health professionals at their finest
Violet Hung is a terrible doctor and a disgusting human being. I'm filing a complaint with the college of physicians against her.
three hours waiting and no doctor showed up...They are not even busy and Im the only patient there...Is it really a hospital?
Very bad service given by the nurse Andrea who was in the pediatric part. She kept convincing us all the time that we should go to the family doctor and not the hospital, even though we explained several times that we only went to the hospital because our son was unable to breathe at dawn. Was I going to wait for dawn to schedule a day with a family doctor? And even came to tell me that in China it is worse. Until today you don't have the results of the exams done there.
It's a fantastic hospital. Been going here for 25years.
Pay parking. Not on rapid transit but central location. Older building for wards. Definitely needs upgrading. Down right depressing. First class imaging and outpatient departments. Awesome staff. Easy hospital to get around. Busy emergency. Starbucks in lobby.
No help at all
Thank you for deliver my baby! You are best!!!
This ia my first time writing a review because my experience here was so bad. I was coughing for almost a month with headache. Last night my headache went too bad so I went to the ER. It was ok at the beginning, I waited in the waiting area for an hour and then inside for another hour. Later, doctor Kim came and she told me that my blood test result is ok. However, she asked me that what makes you feel you are going to die so you come to the hospital? I just cannot believe my ears. Does it mean that only dying people are allowed to come to ER??? I already went to the clinc before, but they didn't help, that's why I chose the ER. Unless I didn't see anyone dying when i was there. I don't understand why she was such rude to me. I was told my headache is caused by coughing, but she didn't give me any treatment for coughing at all! She just told me to take a lot of advil for the headache, then let me go. She asked the nurse to give me 2 tylenol and 3 advil pills and let me take all the pills together! I'm here because i need help, not for any free pills!!!
Friendly nurses and doctors. Felt safe coming here and they made me very comfortable.
I went to the emergency room for a head injury that had me vomiting and waited five hours to see a doctor. I actually gave up and went home before seeing anyone. Not once in the five hours I was there did any nurses or doctors come to check up on me or keep me updated. If I were in an ambulance and was given the option to die or to go to Richmond General, I would not hesitate to pick death.
If you’re black and go through emergency with a concussion, just know they will tell you to take it easy. No test, no blood work, urine, x-ray or scan. It’s been a few weeks and still not feeling right. No health care worker takes it seriously.
Been waiting for several hours for the staff to finish up with one person ahead in an eye exam room. No rational explaination just really defensive staff. I don't care if it takes a while just let us know what's up so we can plan accordingly. Like knowing to get some dinner would have been nice, for example. #hungryandwaiting
Waited 4 hours, and the doctor only spent around 10 minutes giving a halfhearted response on the injury. Diagnosed it as "probably a hairline fracture on the toes" and didn't even bother to x-ray it. Probably? What does that even mean? Guy beside me sounded like he was in extreme pain, and he was still there after we left. Absolutely dismal conditions, the room I was in was freezing. Guy at front desk was rude, however the nurse I had was nice.
So much wait time. The nurses are ready to argue with you as soon you ask them how long will it take. I waited 4.20 hours and they said it is normal. I was having sharp pain and they said you are the last because you are not dying. Like WHAT? people who came way after me, were not dying either. I understand it could be priority. But when I said it's been 4.30 hours i was told, no, it has only been 4.20 hours..... ok let's argue on the 10 minutes.
Worse hospital ever. The staff at yellow zone 4th floor (Surgery section)were extremely rude and unethical. I am very suprised how could such people run that hospital. They treat the patient very badly. They don't respond when botton is pressed. If a patient demand something, they will jump at you and shout. They even intimidate me with bringing security hospital. Also they intimidate me of not doing the surgery which my pain was 10 out of 10. This hospital must be closed. I am sure that people die because of careless action that they do. I can write a book with what they have done to me, my sister and brother. Both were paitents there too.
Very cold blood hospital, there is only one doctor and the front desk has one of the worst attitude that i ever see,i went to the hoapital twice, they cant figure out thing and send me home without any treatment and pills even i told them i was so painful that i didnt eat anythings for 6 days ,if patient say that you probably should give him some glucose ,they just simply dont care they didnt care about the patient and want to pay money immeditely, the ambluance wont come after 2 hours and I ask doctor water for 3 times or I will be dehyrated to death, but no one serve me ,I drink the water from washroom to make sure I wont die. To cut the cost ,they dont even do the proper blood test, there is only a small one use your finger tip blood. What kinds of hospital is this?I was having issue to breath and they dont even try anything and send me home. Try vancouver general hospital, thats way better. At least you more likely not die at that ,canada's hospital are so bad ,they should rebuild the whole system from scratcht The states' hospital will actually ask you to pay AFTER you get treatment not when you are dying in bed, and they will actually treat you, my expenrise are so awful ,I vould literally die at any moment last week. Dont go to this hospital unless you dont have a choice,if you are sick maybe move to somewhere close to VGH
I had two babies delivered at this hospital and both times everyone was amazing. My mother had major surgery at this hospital and everyone was amazing. People need to understand that there are OTHER patients that need help too and no one ignores you because they WANT to. so many patients - so few staff. Patients need to learn patience!! Remember when you are talking to the doctor that you want their full attention ans assistance not drive through service.
This is a joke. Came in with my 5 day old baby. Waited an hour before having a nurse call my name, hardly spoke English (had to repeat myself), was asked to wait out again. Waited for almost 2 hours before I was asked to get into the children section. Waited for another 2 hours for some jackass to come by while my baby was in pain and crying non stop. After a total of 6 hours, he tells me that there is nothing they can do as the Pediatrian is at home and will be in at 10 in the morning. What kind of FUC......EMERGENCY are you???? We asked if he can get him in because our car seat did not arrive yet and we wanted to go BC Children's, as it was a Pre-mature birth.....he replies it's not his problem how I get there car, bus or even how I pay my mortgage.....jackass!!! Then tells me wait for 8 hours or GOOD LUCK!!! In between all of this, not once did ANYONE came by to check up on the child.......You're a horrible doctor, you shouldn't be near kids and you're just a jackass!!! I hope this situation does not happen to anyone as we left the ER at 3am walking home and baby in pain....
Really crazy! Wait for 6 hours with nothing. Only 1 doctor on duty during the night. And couldn't find her at all. And the most funny thing is the nurse cannot send the urine to the lab until doctor gives the order. Totally wasting the time and money. The healthcare system in BC sucks. Wasting tax player's money!!!!!
I think this is the best hospital i have visited in terms of care. There are a lot of bad reviews for this hospital maybe those people should visit surrey memorial then they will give 5 stars for Richmond hospital.
Good Urologist department.
Great group of staff at the maternity unit! They went above and beyond to make sure that we were taken care of. Thanks again!
My husband was taken by ambulance to Richmond General ER with a-fib and ended up staying there 5 days while it was sorted. The care we received from the doctors was first class and the nurses truly are exceptional. Every nurse we had contact with was caring, polite and professional. We also found the maintenance staff to be polite and always busy cleaning. The hospital itself seems cramped for space and definitely needs some updating but that does not reflect on the hospital staff. It was reassuring to be in our local hospital and feel well treated and taken care of. Thank you.
Parking... $1.75 every half hour. SHOULDNT HAVE TO SPEND MONEY WHEN YOU GO TO ER.
ok service!
kinda slow, but professional.
Had a vasovagal syncope incident. Spent 3 days at the hospital. Had a caring doctor, Dr. Ben Sehmer and very welcoming and compassionate, and efficient nurses and staff. Medical facilities, excellent. Will spread the word around when I get back to the Philippines. Richmond General Hospital, world class! Bro. Tony Caspellan, SDB
Went here after a car accident with head trauma and was given an off brand Tylenol and told to come back if I got worse. I was already confused and slurring my words when I left. Turns out I had a concussion, couldn't read for about a week and still have memory problems almost a year later. Better off just going to the pharmacy and getting yourself the brand name Tylenol and hope for the best.
i was shityed out at hospitost and the big woman SCRAMED AT Me (Very Scary) i did not no what to do so i screaaaaaaam back at hear she cry and die (3.5star)
Great experience with Imaging - N-Medicine. Krista was very caring, helpful and respectful (very hard to find). Bad experience with surgery and recovery room, I guess it depends on who you run into. I strongly suggest some investigation because this is an important department.
RGH is too busy delivering passport babies.
The worst experience in my life
This hospital is just as bad as Surrey memorial if not worse. It’s dirty the ER and the Psych ward on the main floor has a nurse named Shazia . How could she have gotten her degree as she is a rude nurse no compassion , she acted like just because a person is in the ward not knowing the facts like the Doctor would, assumes we are criminals and I hope she gets spoken to as she might have a degree but no sense of kindness myself as well as a few other patients in their who were mad. They were all talking about her blunt attitude. I would like to praise Simran and Harj who were also nurses on the same ward they were so nice and patient and did not assume and judge as Shazia did. This ward was filthy dirty the floors and garbage and bathroom all stunk. Being a hospital it should be cleaned as they clean the emergency area which is much better but still not satisfactory!!!! People come to hospital for different reasons and seeing polite faces makes it easier on one. Not here !!
Their emergency department is the worst. They will send you home by saying its normal. Have heard of 3 recent cases where people were sent home and then later went to other hospitals ( thankfully ) and were diagnosed with something serious. In one case, they called security on the person.
Amazing professionals and fantastic service. Recently our family has been to Richmond emergency dept multiple times for serious health issues. The doctors, nurses & clinical staff who works there are really awesome group of people. Hope the provincial government realize that there is a big demand for ER service due to the population growth & new immigrants. Current Federal Government brings people without much of forward thinking of the needs. The Richmond ER needs funding to add more doctors and nurses. The Nurses at the ER works extremely hard to find beds for everyone. They are so polite and saying to the patients that " sorry we are trying to get you a bed ASAP". In my opinion the Provincial & Federal government should give the necessary tools and facilities for these dedicated clinicians. So they can focus on their jobs instead of looking for logistics. Hope our current premier John Horgan & Minister of Health Adriam Dix help the healthcare professionals by properly funding the ER's & more beds for patients. Former liberal government was a disaster and they didn't do much for 14 years except privatizing some departments & we see the repercussions after many years. You can see it for yourself. Final note , We should pay more to our nurses similar to other developed countries. Nursing is a very demanding and very stressful job. Plus we need more ER Physicians and open more positions for ER physians. Then pay a good salary. Thanks Richmond ER you guys are awesome. Keep up the good work
I still can't believe this is a real medical facility. I was in such pain trying to explain what was wrong with me, tears were rolling down my face, and my voice was shaky... and the male nurse bursts out laughing. He was like "oh not you, one of my coworkers said something funny". I sat there literally stunned by this, missed one of his questions and he basically yelled at me like he was losing his patience. He then walks over to one of the nurses and I hear them whispering "she looked fine when she got here, probably just faking it". I left of course, which for some reason they found surprising, tried to get home. But I collapsed from the pain in the lobby of my building, and someone called an ambulance and I ended up back there. What a nightmare. I feel terrible for other people that have been humiliated by RGH. Go anywhere else, just not there.
Worst experience ever at ER. Was being left in waiting room for almost 4 hrs and was finally told by a female doctor that they couldn’t do anything about my case. Staff was rude and unhelpful, kept telling to be patient and questioned if I waited LONG ENOUGH. Stay away.
Came here around 8 p.m to the emergency 4 dental extraction one of my teeth is half out with full pain couldn’t even sleep last night after waiting 2 hours didn’t receive any medication at the end they give me a paper with low cost dental numbers how came a hospital and emergency section has no dental!!!!!!! we are not asking for cosmetic dentistry I just ask them 2 take my teeth out so I can go home and sleep and get rid of full pain I Never get upset as I did today, you guys be responsible and taking the ppl issues seriously And hiring a dentals for this cases
Very frustrating! Most of the staff are rude and don't care. Off course, there are exceptions. ER services are unbelievably way below standard including the doctors! They literally don't care. My friend went there for very high blood pressure emergency. They didn't even attach her to the BP device. No blood tests till 3 hrs and half. Are they serious? If you have a choice avoid going to Richmond ER if you don't want to be neglected in emergency case. The department where you have the Holter is horrible! Front desk ladies are just busy chatting. Technicans ask you to take of the Holter yourself and they never sent the results to the family dr. till a month later. Emaging front office is extremely rude and aggressive. This hospital needs a real new management!
hang my phone directly. ridiculous
Had to get health certificate for travel, person didn't even give me 30 seconds to explain situation/reason. Very rude front desk, just talks over you and hangs up very fast.
I left a message for mr. Jordan Beard, that was two weeks ago I still have not heard back from him. I wanted to give some constructive feedback, so that improvements could be made. I arrived at the emergency department just after midnight, and while waiting for the person that I took for treatment, the triage nurse and the cleaning person decided to have a very loud 45-minute social discussion while laughing and cackling without any consideration for the sick people within the emergency rooms or the people waiting for their loved ones. There seems to be no Management in place, common sense consideration or courtesy. The person that I took ended up seeing a specialist at his Vancouver office because a family member pulled strings, and he made a referral for further testing. I feel that the doctor was adequate but somewhat remiss and the support staff disrespectful and unprofessional. Mr. Beard, we could have discussed this had you called me back.
We rushed our family member to ER on the night of May 1st, 2019. The waiting room was very messy. The washroom was dirty and seemed unattended by staff. The doctor and nurses were very kind and attentive. However, the next evening, May 2nd, we had to go back for a follow-up treatment, a male nurse in the IV section had a bad attitude and treated us poorly. In general, the ER of the Richmond Hospital is below the standard one would expect as a patient.
Because I work there
Pretty good as far as experiences in ERs go. The nurses were helpful and kind, and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable while waiting to be seen by the doc. 4 stars because the whole process took 5 hours and it felt like the doctor forgot about me after I did blood work.
My sister had a minor procedure scheduled on March 13th in RGH. We checked in the Green zone around 12:00 pm at the reception. My sister had a face mask on and the ckerk was so rude to my sister. The clerk raised her voice and said "Why did you wear a mask. Are you sick?". Everybody was listening, it was so embarrassing. I said to the clerk that she is a cancer patient. The clerk then then back off and said I'm not a nurse, I don't know. My sister took off her mask and sat in the waiting room. Do the patient need hospital staff's permission to wear a face mask???
1 star is being very generous. Richmond Hospital needs to hire a Janitor. The floors are extremely disgusting and grimy. No wonder people get sick here all the time.
Had chest pain, difficulty breathing, so they tossed me into an empty waiting room. Ended up in there for like 5 hours there clutching my chest and gasping for air. Don't let the empty waiting room fool you. It's because anyone with an option goes to literally any other hospital in the lower mainland. It doesn't mean your wait will be short. If you value your health go to VGH or any other hospital
Worst hospital on earth would not send my worst enemy here
Thanks to doctor wornsbecker, You definitely turned my bad experience around after your fast response to the kidney stone I was having issues with and I'm grateful. Thanks again!
I was hospitalized on June 2nd with a 90% blockage on my LAD. I was received in emergency and received excellent support from Thor. Early morning I was moved to 2S were I was monitored until June 4 when I was taken to VGH for angioplasty. Returned on the same day and next day I was sent home with my heart reset! Surreal! Every body treated me well and I have to commend Thor from emergency and DR Tam. On unit 2S Jennifer and Upa made me feel important and helped me when needed. Dr Skalska followed up. I thank all the personnel of the hospital for a job well done under difficult circumstances
Great hospital but the upper floors are pretty old and dull that need the renovation. Decent staff and service. Lastly, the parking is not free.
DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL The receptionist will hang your phone before you finish. The nurses speak super loud and give unprofessional IV and don't really care about you. The doctors are like your lord that will easily get impatient as long you ask the same question twice even if you are about to die.
5 hours and counting...
Volunteer nurses jab you and miss your veins repeatedly. They will sometimes keep you for an extremely long amount of time for no fair reason just to 'monitor you'. Food is disgusting. Overall the atmosphere and lack of kindness make this a miserable place to be. Being admitted into this hospital probably feels worse than being imprisoned in jail. Emergency doctor (I think Dr. Kim) won't take you seriously unless you are on the verge of death. Expect to be sent home if a blood test will not diagnose you because you are not worth her time.
I had occasion to use the services of the Richmond Hospital this week. From the time I arrived at reception I was greeted with courtesy, respect and made to feel comfortable every step of the way. I was supposed to have a procedure for 2 hours, it went longer than expected as a result and precaution, I was kept overnight in hospital. The doctors were professional at every stage. Throughout my stay, the staff of nurses worked tirelessly, were always attentive and satisfied my every need. I was always comfortable and would recommend this hospital to anyone. THANK YOU ALL AT RICHMOND GENERAL HOSPITAL Winston Miller
Mom has been in palliative care for about a week? In her condition, you’d expect a general level of humanity in the nurses or at least some more kindness. Day nurses are mostly that- amazing and overall attentive to the needs of my mom and us as a family. Night nurses are rude, distant/cold, and uncaring. Even after trying to be courteous over my past 2 nights stay here, they’ve been the same. I don’t even know if they smile. Once one helped with repositioning my mom, she left the room saying it’s done and didn’t stop to make eye contact at all- just walked past me. It’s 5:50-6am and she didn’t seem like she was in a rush- just didn’t really care. The other one made eye contact but almost grudgingly- man, why are they so cold?!? Why are they in this wing? Dates of stay that I’ve observed is between March 29-April 2. Night nurses I speak of were on shift April 1-2. Can’t speak on the rest. Sorry for reporting, but hopefully there is a readjustment with attitudes and culture in the team. People who come here are going to be observant because they have loved ones in critical condition- treat us better??
My wife went to emergency for assistance due to unexpected incident during pregnancy on Dec-24 night time. A male Doctor there was rude and unresponsible. He does not understand the integrity and responsibility of a Doctor. Shame on him. Don't know his name. But, I will not go there anymore.
Friendly service
I brought a friend to emergency yesterday and had to write this review. From the admitting staff to the triage nurse to the EKG staff and the ER nurses, particularly Charlotte and Lily and the ER doctor, Dr Juneau, all were incredibly kind, compassionate, professional and just all around wonderful. My friend was concerned about going to ER because of long wait times and his uncomfortable situation, but we were seen and taken care of within 15 minutes of arriving at Emergency. Thank you so much to all of you for making a very stressful time surprisingly easy and for the great care and treatment given to my friend.
After being in emergency twice in one week i can tell you there is something wrong at this hospital. At night there is only one doctor in emergency for the entire richmond so you will have to wait there until 7am. Go to Delta or VGH to go to a hospital where staff work more efficiently and are properly staffed.
Horrible experience with my recent major surgery at this hospital with the night time ICU staff. Especially Nurse Winnie and Vivian. One had the audacity to tell me in her own words " I am not an ICU patient therefore I do not get ICU care" What is that to say to someone who just had major surgery the night prior? Vivian would not listen to me at all with regards to my pain level even making an effort to mock me saying I didn't know how to use the drip machine when you can CLEARLY hear a sound when you click it to let you know the medication was being dispensed but did not work. Both have huge egos and not a single empathetic bone in their body. They should NOT be nurses let alone be nurses in INTENSIVE CARE. Day nurse in ICU was a lot better, and when I got transferred to the Surgical wing before the 3rd night the care was 1000 times better from ACTUAL nurses who CARE about people. I was only transferred there because I refused to stay a 3rd night at ICU and threatened to walk out of the hospital after night 2 of my surgery due to the lack of care and respect I received during my ordeal here. I really wish management would get in touch with me, because I have videos that I took, as well as memos I wrote on my phone after each incident so I would not forget. Thank god, the rest of the wings are actually staffed by caring doctors and nurses, it's just very ironic that the patients in need of the MOST care in INTENSIVE CARE are greeting by absolutely awful human beings who work the night shift.
Friendly staff. Clean rooms and beds. Quick service (compared to other hospitals). Parking is so so.
Had my surgery today. Dr. Douglas answered all the questions and the surgery went great. Hopefully the recovery will be the same. The staff was exceptional. From the nurse- Heather who checked me in to all the nurses afterwards it was a very pleasant experience. Thank you
