I had day surgery at the hospital in Trail. From the helpful receptionist, admitting staff, nurses, nurses in the operating room, the anesthesiologist, to my doctor I can't say enough wonderful things about them all. So professional, caring and attentive and for a scardy cat like me it made a world of difference. My details were checked and rechecked, I was informed every step of the way. Great care was taken to make sure I knew what to expect afterwards as I was given written instructions and a letter from my doctor to say how surgery went and when to make an appointment. Thank you so much you are greatly appreciated.

The trail hospital shows reluctance to do what is best for their elderly patients. I have had multiple bad experiences with them as they are constantly rushing patients out the door when immediate family and emergency paramedics suggest other care. Go to nelson if you have an option because the staff there will actually help you. Trail sucks.

This hospital is (consistently) a nightmare. Majority of staff are rude and incompetent. Always saying they’ll do something and then they don’t. Communication 0/10 - Good luck getting someone on the phone, or getting an update about your family member’s condition, treatment, etc,. They don’t answer, and they don’t return voicemails. This is especially disturbing considering my family member has suffered a stroke and does not understand or remember things being explained to him (I am his enduring POA and still they do not communicate with me). They are extremely unprofessional and show no compassion whatsoever. People dread going here for surgery because it’s so dirty and the care is substandard, to put it nicely. I know a few people who have gotten infections during post-op stays, including my own family member. It is the dirtiest hospital I have ever set foot in, and a NURSE told me they have the highest infection rate in BC. I am a healthcare professional in Alberta and it’s like night and day coming from the hospital I work at to this one. It’s embarrassing, really. The care is questionable at best, and they keep family members as far away as possible which in itself is unethical. I come from a hospital where it’s in our values to include family member(s) every step of the way if the patient wishes to do so, making the treatment of patients and family members at KBRH extremely appalling to me from a personal and professional standpoint. It’s like this is where incompetent, compassion-less BC healthcare workers conglomerate, luckily for the rest of BC who don’t have to go to KBRH. I always remember names and after many terrible experiences involving KBRH, I write down each interaction (or lack of) in detail. I will be filing a formal complaint.

The parking is pathetic with their planning...the walk from the parking to the main door ia like doing a quarter mile walk. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Trail hospital is a JOKE!! If you don't wanna die go to Nelson hospital where you will be seen in a timely matter and by health care professionals who know their stuff and will get to the bottom of the problem and fix it for you. I personally know 4...ya that's right (FOUR) people who have died in the Trail hospital of different occasions with different illnesses!!!

Top notch timely care for an emergency visit to the brand new facility 14/3/21.A world away from the old emerg of 2 years ago!

I'm a new immigrant, playing scooter with my kids and a broken ankle. My wife needs to work, cook for her two children, pick them up for school, and I'm sent to the emergency department alone for surgery. I use translation app and doctors and nurses to communicate, very smooth. JILL,Isobel? ...Forgive me for not remembering the names of doctors and anesthesiologists and four nurses. They were very professional and patient enough to help me fill out the form. I'm going home from the hospital tomorrow and thank them again.

Horrible service this hospital is a absolute joke and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless its absolutely necessary.

This is the second time I’ve been waiting for my hernia surgery the first one I came to he canceled by 2pm because he wanted to go home when it was supposed to have been Done at 10:30am I am in alot of pain as Ive been waiting over a year. I’m back again he is over an hour late again, I’m just hoping it does not get cancelled again. I feel my doctor should be more punctual.

The emergency nursing staff is by far amazing. They work such long hours and help so many patients, I had to be up there lots in the last few months and I get to see these amazing nurses do. Every once in awhile I like to bring a big basket of treats for them to enjoy. They need to know that they matter so much to all of us . Love you all so much for all you do ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I was completely unimpressed. The first nurse was useless and couldn't answer any questions at all due to lack of knowledge. The doctor was extremely ditzy, she had no idea what she was talking about and literally just stood there repeating "like" and "um" between every few words. Lastly the mental health and addiction nurse was was a complete joke. He belittled me and made me feel stupid, like i was there for no reason and faking my pain. After I expressed my concerns he glared and didn't take any of it seriously. I left the hospital feeling like nothing was resolved, and the whole visit was a complete waste of time.

It seems more like a social place for the nurses then a place of emergency care. The nurses stand around in the nurse station just chit chatting about their personal lives. Why even get in to this field of work if you don't have any interest helping people.

Everyone is always so nice and accommodating here. It's comforting to have hospital staff treat you like they are happy to help you.

Waiting to see a doctor in ER for 8 hours is just unacceptable.

Recently my wife had an operation in Trail Hosp. She was very impressed with the nursing staff and all others she had contact with during her stay. I also have nothing but praise for all staff we had contact with. They are very caring and a great asset to our health care system in the Kootenay-Boundary. Thanks for great care of my wife.Dave

I went in with a swollen mouth can hardly breath took them 2 hours to get me into a space then another two hours of waiting before I walked out. But it seems like more of a social place for the nurses then a place of care

Staff is incredibly rude. I fully understand that emergency is busy, but when somone is sick and or in pain. They need to have some compassion..

I can’t say enough good things about the staff at this hospital. I was in the area from the US for backcountry skiing and unfortunately struck a tree, resulting in severe and significant injury to my pelvis. The staff was efficient, professional, competent and worked very quickly to get me stabilized and comfortable. They then worked to get me transferred back to the US for surgery, which went extremely smooth. I can’t thank them enough. You all should be very proud. -A fellow nurse turned patient

Everyone here does their best, and I am amazed and humbled by their patience, dedication, and professionalism, especially in such bizarre and difficult times of the pandemic. They all deserve respect and admiration for their heroic efforts. The province needs to allocate more funding to improve healthcare resources and increase staff. I am sure less meddling and siphoning of resources from regional and local health administration (doubt so many of you are really necessary) would help immensely. My sincere thanks to the waiting room nurses, triage nurses, check in nurses, technical staff, and ER doctors, as well as to all the other staff I did not personally interact with. This part of the world is a better place because of you all.

Was visiting a friend. Staff was very nice.

This is the worst hospital I have ever stepped foot inside. Everytime my wife goes here she is fat shamed and told they can't help her because of her weight. She is the nation's average size and the same size of some staff I have seen here. I am disabled i walk with a cane and I'm young. I have basically been made fun of while here before because of the cane. Go to any other hospital if you can help it.

This hospital has the reputation for being the worst in BC. It has a very high infection rate, and equipment is continuously breaking down especially in the blood lab. The blood lab processes blood for the whole region yet the equipment is always failing. The hospital is aware & doesn’t care, and just accepts that patients won’t get their test results when they need them. Patients are not a priority at this hospital.

I came for a broken wrist surgery. The scheduling was a bit off. Nevertheless I received an excellent care and treatment. Dr. Mcvicar, Dr. Reed and their OR team were very professional and effective. The nurses Tammy and Dawn were very helpful and patient. I am very grateful for such an excellent service from a small hospital in a small rural town.

I was shocked to actually have to clean the patient toilet on my ward. A taller patient required a height assist which he left in place. I had to clean that and the toilet myself prior to every use. The cleaners were lacksidasical and visited my ward only 2 in the 4 days I was there. Windowsills were dust covered and windows grimy. Most shocking I was going to be pushed into the Or in an old grungy wheelchair. I choose to walk in from the entrance leaving the wheelchair at the door. Am I surprised at the current closure . Nope. Do not get me started on the lack of precession alim of the hospital physios.

Dr. Peter Krampl and Dr. Melissa Herr are excellent and caring emergency room physicians. This is a very busy emergency room and yet they take the time to treat patients with care, concern and patience. We are fortunate to have such excellent and thorough care in our community.
