I didnt think I would eventually talk about this but hearing so many horrible stories I feel I should share mine. In January-april I was in and out of emergency in excruciating abdominal pain, bleeding for 3 months straight and started fainting on a daily basis from the pain. Everytime i went in, nothing but a blood and pee test were done, even though dr Clarke said it could have been my appendix bursting but didnt bother to check lol. One day in specific was horrible and since april I've been too scared to go back because of this experience. I explained to the triage nurse I have endometriosis, she looked at me and my mom, completely dumbfounded and told me that wasnt a real disease. We talked to a different er nurse and she said she didnt know what endometriosis was and when I explained it to them, they wrote it off as endo pain. Dr Clarke was the doctor I had that night and he is a NIGHTMARE. He came in the room, completely belittled me, made me feel as if I didnt deserve care or to be there. He said "you've already had a laparoscopic surgery a couple years ago, you're farther than a lot of endo patients so you should be thankful and not complain about your pain" i stopped him and asked him not to belittle my pain and that just because someone else hasnt received the care I had in the past, doesnt nean I dont deserve to be here and he stopped me, raised his voice and said " if you're just going to be aggressive I'm going to leave and not help you". Honestly I wish he did leave. I imedietly started crying and he told me my pain was in my head and he "has seen real people in pain"... he then came in asked me to sign a paper for "pain medication" and he put me on a ketamine trip. It was a horrible experience, and he laughed when I was balling my eyes out after, scared and said it didnt do anything. The nurse that was with him felt so bad for me she came in the room after and sat with me, apologized and offered to get me tordol for my pain. She told me to report it when I left but honestly you feel so useless and defeated after something like this. Reporting doesnt do anything so why bother.. I will never step foot in CMH again after the "care" I recieved. Some of these staff should be so ashamed of themselves.

My girlfriend went here for x-rays. They said she didn't have a concussion later finding out she did. That could of put her into a coma or even killed her. Considering pressing charges

The doctors here are incredible and the nurses in the maternity ward are some of the most amazing people I've ever met! Thank you so much for all the incredible work you do from me and my family.

So far between yesterday and today I am at 13 hours of waiting time. The doctors seem thorough, but nothing gets completed quickly. The tests were, but the waiting time is horrendous. Patients in extreme pain, vomiting were left squirming in the waiting room. Seemed degrading for them. I don’t live here anymore and it’s been about a decade since I’ve been to this hospital... nothing has changed sadly. Not to disrespect the staff, because even though they’re so busy, they are never rude at all. I hope the new ER helps alleviate wait times for people.

I gave birth at this hospital, and I was so amazed at how nice the staff is.. Cassidy in post partum is AWESOME! Laura in the nursery is amazing! All these ladies helped make my experience so nice, I was so nervous and anxious about my birthing experience but these ladies were so nice to me Laura shared so many of her tips and tricks to help me with my baby! She also motivated me to continue to pull even though it was such a hard experience for me. Cassidy was the nicest nurse at night..she always kept asking if I needed more supplies, she kept my room equipped with pads and such.. Over all, I would recommend this hospital to anyone and everyone for their birthing experience.. Thank you ladies for making my experience so exceptional ♥️

Not that I ever want to go to the hospital, but when I do I've always been treated with the utmost care and compassion. Today it was the Diagnostic Imaging crew. Thanks again :)

Emergency department need course on how to be empathetic to patients and wait time is crazy. Not a very friendly nor helpful place . Really sad that our government has done this by making such devastating cuts to our Healthcare system. I have been in touch with patient relations and it doesn't seem to help. The doctors and nurses need a course in customer service and how to be empathetic or at least treat mental patients and their families better. It is stressful enough when your child is mentally ill. People who cut and burn so severely as my daughter need help not ridicule. THE HAVE BEEN TRAUMATIZED ENOUGH BY WHAT HAS CAUSED THEIR MENTAL BREAKDOWN! They need help not snide remarks or be treated as a burden to society .It a severe trauma that caused their breakdown.

In and out in under 3 hrs. Real heroes wear scrubs. Thanks for a great visit.

I'm new to this cambridge, and have had to visit this hospital twice, both times have been greeted by a nurse (same one) who comes up to you, and tells you that the waits are very long, the waiting room is packed, and they're not sending anyone to the waiting rooms, and says that I cant tell you to leave but you'll be waiting a long time and if it's not serious you should go and come back in the morning. Firstly, people who are coming to emergency obviously know that its going to be a long wait. It's a hospital. I think people are fully aware of what they are walking into when they come to the ER. Secondly, is that not ILLEGAL for her to say that to a patient????? I'm confused. If someone was made to feel like they should go home, and their illness was actually very serious and something happened.. you guys can get sued BIG TIME. So you should really have a talk with that nurse and tell her to just do her job and register people. Not make them feel like they should go home bcus of a long wait. I also witnessed her get rude and annoyed with someone who was clearly mentally not well, and said she just cant deal with this anymore, right after telling us this hospital was known for helping mental illness. If you don't like your job that much then maybe you should look for a career change.

Soon to he the best place on earth for CARE.But there will always be idiots who destroy public property and are down right animals.

I have always been treated with dignity and respect at my home hospital and if there are wait times it is worth the wait. I feel very comfortable and secure there when I have to go in for anything and staff is always very bubbly and positive.

The staff in the emergency department were great!!! Could not ask for better care for my son!!! Thank you to all the friendly and helpful staff!!!

This hospital is a joke.. I really don't care about YOUTUBE videos or emailing someone who is just going to push my email complaint into her junk mail.... On a different topic... How come everyone has a response from the owner BUT Kevin about 5 months ago... ADDRESS THE REAL ISSUES. EDIT - After reading the response from the management I am not surprised. Its shocking that you would address me in a not so formal manner then talk about assumptions when this is pure knowledge. I regret to inform you that me along with the rest of the population in cambridge feel that it is the responsibility of the heath care orginazition to comply and respond in accordance with my question. I just want to simply know WHY one would have to wait for 3 days for an MRI ? ... THIS IS A BASIC QUESTION ...

Natasha Tait

Horrible hospital. Doctors and staff are very rude. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone that needs medical attention. I will go to Kitchener from now on!!

Leslie Anna Rose Obsioma

Due to employment purposes, it is now required to get tested before start. I was so scared as I have heard so many bad things about the test, but the nurses who did my test, was awesome and gentle. I only remembered Nurse Brenda who kept calming me. I am not good when I’m at the hospital, but her voice is so soothing. Thank you CMH nurses for this! ♥️♥️

I ended up with a bad infection due to a failed root canal and they quickly got my health out of the danger zone and got a specialist oral surgeon to pull the problem tooth. I really appreciate the care I received as I was in and out 5 times in a span of a week. Professional and friendly doctors and nurses all on the front lines helping each and everyone of us coming in for help.

Horrible they didn’t do anything left me crying from emergency room and told me I was fine to only find out later from a chiropractor I had scoliosis

Wait six seven hours at the emergency terrible go to Brantford for better service

The staff other than a few nurses in the emergency area treat people like a burden, the wait times are horrible. No respect, no compassion. I'd recommend pretty much any other hospital in the kw area rather than Cambridge memorial. This is not a one time review. I have medical problems and go there frequently

Exquisite Lady

I’m not quite sure where to even begin with the awful treatment I’ve received from this hospital. From the lack of response while trying to obtain a covid test, to the rudeness of the staff and unprofessional behaviour, to more recently, complete lack of care during two trips to the emergency department. I tried to reach their covid testing centre for nearly 2 days with no answer. I contacted the hospital main line to ensure I had the correct number and was told “call public health it’s not our problem”. More recently about 4 weeks ago I went to the emergency department regarding excruciating pain I was experiencing in my leg. They ran no tests, did not do any ultrasound or x ray despite me saying I was unable to walk without limping due to the pain, I was told to go home and take Tylenol. Two days later I was back to the ER as the pain had progressed to the point that I was unable to walk at all on my own without breaking down in tears. Not only did their staff show zero compassion, they didn’t offer a wheelchair and sent me walking across the entire hospital to get an x ray done on my back? even thought the pain was in the upper part of my leg. Made absolutely no sense to do an x ray on my back. Anyway, by the time I made it to the x ray department I almost collapsed from the pain and was provided a wheelchair immediately by the technician. When I was taken back to the emergency department after the x ray was completed, the attending doctor asked “why was she given a wheelchair” are you kidding me? I couldn’t walk. Despite me constantly saying I was in excruciating pain, she was shocked that I was given a wheelchair. Their doctors are cold hearted and lack compassion or even common sense. I was given a blood test to which her response was “oh I guess you have an infection based on the blood work but we don’t know where or what it is. Take amoxicillin and this pain killed and you’ll be fine”. I also had a fever to which she responded “maybe you’re panicking and giving yourself a fever”. Excuse me? I’ve never felt so disrespected in my life by someone in a medical field it was the most disgusting response and behaviour I’ve ever experienced. 3 days later, I was rushed to st Mary’s with a spiked fever, inability to walk at all and had to have emergency surgery due to the infection that was in my body that the staff at Cambridge memorial didn’t care enough to check for and insinuated that I was “making up” or “imagining”. I am appalled that ppl like this work in the medical field. To say that Cambridge memorial hospital is awful is a complete understatement. Perhaps they’d benefit from hiring staff who actually WANT to help patients. If I could give this hospital negative stars, I would.

Lucky to get one star. We were travelling through the area and My husband had a gall stone attack(which we found out later). This hospital was swarming with police and security. The Nurse who was assigned to my husband was paranoid and would not listen to his explanation to why he came in . When he was talking to her, she became argumentative and started talking extremely loud and saying "I can't help you if you do not do as I tell you! I asked her if she was ok being that she was getting a bit loud for no reason. Then 2 security guards came in to the pod. Then I realized what she did. She started freaking out to bring in the security. There was no problem with our conversation before she pulled this off. I could not believe this. His attack had subsided so we explained we will leave. This nurse and another staff member said a few ignorant words and said its you prerogative if you want to leave. I could not believe how these people were at this hospital.. I figured they must have a lot of criminal activity in this area and that is why there is so much security as well as why the nurse was so paranoid and weird . I have a lot of patience with people and try to see their side but this was totally rude and ignorant of this nurse. I hope I never have to visit this hospital again. I did send in a complaint. Never received a response.

The pain clinic is amazing I've been a patient for over 2 years. Doctor and staff very understanding and knowledgeable, my quality of life is so much better because of them.

This is by far the best hospital in the Waterloo region! I have never had a bad experience there. Sure you sometimes have to wait but it's not the staff's fault...It's our system that is flawed. I've had my knee replaced there and now I am getting cancer treatment. Both departments have been amazing! I really appreciate the hard work they do every day especially during covid. They risk their lives every day to care for us. Thanks to all the staff that took great care of me. A special thanks to AJ . Keep up the stellar work!!!!

my girlfriend has to go through physio for her wrist now because the team at Cambridge completely overlooked an obvious break that our understaffed and overworked team at Western University Hospital in London found on her old charts from Cambridge and said that any competent radiologist would have seen that and not just sent her home with pain meds. she is a hair stylist and has stated that it is hard for her sometimes with her wrist locking in weird positions, that we now know was caused by that break. and I've been reading other reviews that say this is a similar experience they have had with this facility. also Stephen you sound like a tool when you respond to someone who has had an awful experience at your hospital with "Well, I pErsOnAllY disagree with you". that's because it didn't PERSONALLY happen to you dips***

Jane Fletcher

Medical staff are great, compassionate and caring. However hospital administration are another story. I wrote to CEO/President regarding a visit my son had and my concerns regarding his treatment in hospital and after discharge but heard nothing back. I wrote another letter to a member of staff and asked that it be passed on to appropriate person or persons and once again heard nothing. I had serious concerns about my son's care but apparently they weren't deemed serious enough for staff to take any interest. Too much bureaucratic noise to get involved? He now refuses to even consider returning and it has set his recovery back. More attention needs to be paid to all areas of care not just treat'm and street'm. Nor should people be expected to accept any level of care. This brand new hospital looks fresh and new on the outside but inside not much has changed. They can say they are listening to patients/community concerns but it seems to be nothing more than lip service.

My wife had health related problems with slurred speech and exhaustion. I found the triage station was very responsive however a little misleading when it showed on one of the waiting room screens that there was a 3 hr wait for care when I noticed barely 2 to 3 people in that waiting room. I understand more critical patients are ahead of you even if you have waited 2 hrs and a ambulance comes in with such a patient. I do feel that time sensitive care should be a priority for emergency care . I see things have a chance to improve, like faster response times and patient wait times being reduced. Maybe they can ask other hospitals what works for them and take that information and apply it , example, if say Los Angeles USA hospital can process 1000 patients per night then find out how they do it and use that service here. I just find a wait time of 3 hrs when there is 40 incoming patients seems high when 75% of those patients are likely not 911 emergencies. Being a Sunday may be the reason it takes so long. That being said the staff I'm sure works their best and because of the strain on Canadas health care system it does not help when there is a shortage of Qualified doctors and nurses. Hope this review is not taken too serious but realistic. Waiting room chairs are disgustingly dirty too.

Took my mom for her first Chemo treatment yesterday. Every single nurse / support staff we encountered were extremely awesome. They were patient, very thorough in explaining the procedure, possible side effects, short & long term effects, etc. It was very clear to me that the nurses and pharmacists here truly care about their patients.

Jason Machado

Current construction may lead to some confusion, but it is much needed as the hospital was in need of updating. Other than that, the staff are amazing. Attentive, caring and responsible.

I am unsure what to say about CMH... I get cancer care at the Medical Day unit, and I can honestly say the MDU staff (nurses) are exceptional and have always taken great care of me. My trips through ER have been more or less what I expected depending on time of day that I've gone. If there is a larger size of customers waits can be longer, the reverse also being true. However, the Doctors and Nurses in ER also have taken great care of me. My experience with CMH as an admitted patient, having been so a couple of times, has been varied. During the week I have found the patient care to be exceptional, understanding, and very caring both during day and night shifts. Weekends, however, especially the night shift (Sat. Sun nights) the nursing staff seem less caring. This may be due to reduced staff in comparison to patient number, of this I am uncertain. All in all my preference is to go to CMH as a general whole I have been cared for there extremely well; the food however could stand a bit of tweaking for individual patients. A number of times I have been given food that I really don't like as it doesn't appeal to me. I have never, however, been given opportunity to request alterations of the menu; but hey at least I was fed and I give full marks for that.

At around 8pm, I was rushed to the hospital with an excruciating pain in my lower abdomen. They put me inside the emergency room and this horrid nurse stripped me naked in front of everyone as soon as I got on the bed without even covering up the area with the curtain first. Hooked me up to all these wires and finally a nicer lady came. My dad and his fiance left the hospital and I had to sleep there. I was only 16 at the time. Went through an x-ray, cat scan, and lastly an ultrasound. My stay there was for more than about 24 hours. Service was alright, waiting time was perfect (since I was screaming in pain) but most nurses were just downright rude. I got some food in the end by one of the nicer ladies and was sent home. They never notified my family doctor about the cyst they diagnosed me so I don't know what to do now. Overall, it was an okay stay.

On behalf of my 82 year old friend, unfortunately I cannot give a good review of this hospital's care. Diagnosed with cancer that compromises his breathing, he was admitted (via ambulance). After a few days he developed a blood clot that swelled his arms to twice their size AND was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. He was then, astoundingly, sent home alone to a two storey apartment with absolutely no support. It took 4 days for a nurse to contact him. If he hadn't had the support of good friends he would have been unable to give himself injections or even feed himself. Several days later he passed out and was sent to the hospital yet again via ambulance. While he waits to go to a hospice he remains in the hospital growing even more weak and unable to turn himself over in bed as he lies there with no support such as physio to keep him moving or to turn him. Just yesterday a doctor suggested he "should back off the pain meds." The nurses do their best, there is no argument with that, but the after care and social support for this elderly, ill man has been severely lacking in compassionate supportive care.

Katherine Ingram

I went to the ER tonight with my five month old daughter who has a bad cough. The doctor and all the nurses I spoke to tonight were externally friendly and helpful. I have never had such a positive experience in this ER before. They were all extremely gentle with my daughter and answered every question I had. Also the DR, I forget what he said his name was, kept checking on me personally after I told him how anxious everything was making me. I felt the staff on this shift (we arrived around 7pm) were extremely attentive and friendly

Tammy Goodland (Tam-Tam)

I showed up in the Emergency at 4:00pm , I was moved to the mental health unit at 5:30 pm at 7:30 pm a man by the name of Michael came crisis counselor- he took two phone calls and acted like I didn't even exist..... he kept his conversation on the phone going, talking about foul smells. I got up and walked out he continued his call . I was already in distress and felt like I was not important. The triage nurse and the Emergency room nurse cared more about me. Michael was rude and didn't want to listen to me why I was even there. Cared more about his phone calls. This is why people don't ask for help when it comes to mental health concerns. I will be writing a formal complaint and will never again go to that hospital.

Ziaan Virk

I'm happy I made it out alive out of this place but lots of people who seem to be unhappy are writing stupid reviews about personal experiences in the triage. As a 15 year old who was admitted for more then a week I was greeted by nurses and doctors amazingly. They were very kind, and had an exceptionally well attitude during COVID-19 time. Only downside was I was not able to meet with my family during this dark time. The food was good, nothing wrong with it at all just a bit different. If you wanted a snack they would without a doubt get it for you and have conversations with you which reduced the feeling of ''Isolation'' the hospital was clean, and the new part of the hospital is amazing, its modern appeal gives you a feeling you are in a hotel not a hospital. For the old part of the building it is alright, not ideal and hopefully they can modernize it like the new emergency department. Overall If you are in need anything, this is the place, their results are quick and they have the machinery for all sorts of tests. I did not need to be transferred and the staff went out of there way to make sure we were comfortable and happy as they could have done as a 3rd party. Well done guys!

The Dr that did my liver biopsy told me that it didn't hurt. Idk where he got that from but when you have 3/4 cirrohsis it really really hurts. I still have nightmares when I was curling up in a ball of pain with tears in my eyes I had a dr hanging over me repeatedly telling me it doesn't hurt. If you rip out a dime size piece of liver while you're awake to feel it, it does indeed hurt.

I shouldn't be giving any stars... This is the worst hospital in Canada... Which is the Cambridge memorial hospital.. I was misdiagnose treated with wrong medication.. The doctors were horrible.. Rude Unpleasant unpolite.. Bad language.. Nurses to reception staff very rude.. One nurse said to me..we treat you now and sent you...why are you back... So what next Ar you gonna come back... And what then.. I never had kidney infection but the doctor put Me on cippro antibiotics and gave me pregnazone... Damage my liver and my lungs.. More tainted when they did the blood work With m.r.s.a.. I sufferd a lot... All had was septic arthritis.. They couldn't figure that out... After I was at the St Mary's kitchener.. Took care of me very well.. I was heeled after strenum surgery and they Stopped all the medication. Only go to Cambridge memorial if you wanna die...please don't go for any reason.. Go to the next nearest hospital... But not this hospital..

Just before Christmas I had the misfortune of visiting the emergency department (the first time since the renovations have been completed) and had a very positive experience. I was greeted quickly, was treated with kindness, care and compassion and was very comfortable with the obvious COVID protocols that were in place. As someone who is immune suppressed, I appreciate not needing to flag that I am high risk and received very specific information on where to sit while I waited and why it was safer there. The doctor listened and I felt heard. The nurses not only treated me with kindness but I could hear down the quiet hall that they did the very same with every patient. The renovation is beautiful and the CMH team has much to be proud of. Thank you!

I got an MRI scan done today. The MRI technologist Christie was friendly and professional. (Had to take off a star because the other staff didn't provide the same quality service.)

I had an MRI appointment. Arrived few minutes early. Staff was super friendly and took me in right away. Everything went smoothly and I am very happy with the service I have received.

Extremely dirty, mental health services are a joke in that they let a suicidal person go because they had no beds on the ward or in the ER at the time. The person clearly told them they were going to slice wrists and they didnt care. Just go to another hospital if you care about yourself or loved ones! You will get sick just from coming here!

Whenever I go here, I get the same speech from the Dr I see at around 3am.. "What would you like me to do for you? If you don't have a broken bone, severed limb or having a heart attack, see your family Dr." What I would like him to do, is address my reason for the visit.. not ask me what I want him to do! I'm not the doctor, he is. Difficulty breathing and coughing up blood isn't an emergency at this hospital. Do yourselves a favour and find another.

The Hanna Clan

Recommended: I have been here several times for several different things over the years. This building has changed dramatically since the renovations. I have always been impressed with the staff. I always feel valued and heard. There is a bit of a wait for the ER, but the wait times are better I believe.

Came here for a deep skin biopsy, when I entered the room the surgical tools were exposed to air, not covered at all, and a defibrillator had a sticker staying it hadn't been inspected since Oct of 93!The Dr did the biopsy bandaged me up and sent me on my way. I was told to come back in a week to remove the sutures. I ended up going back because I notice a large red ring and black around my incision site. I waited 6 hours to be seen, only to be told to go home and clean well with antibacterial soap. I did, but the next day I noticed the redness had spread( thankfully I circled the red area, something I learned in girl scouts) so I decided this time to go to grand river hospital. They did a tissue scraping and I was called back into the hospital after being diagnosed with a flesh eating bacteria! I lost a lot of skin and muscle on my leg because they had to remove all the infected skin, and I was left with a horrific scar. Thankfully I took pictures from start to finish of my ordeal, including the surgical room, because a hospital lawyer at grand river informed me that after showing her the pictures that I had a malpractice suit! DO NOT GO HERE! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL ! Staff were rude, and I had to inquire to my surgeons name, they didn't even introduce themselves! Also don't take the time to treat patients properly!

Urooj Irfan

Honestly the worst experience ever. No work ethics from the staff. My baby was throwing up all night, we the waiting for 5 hours and then they made us wait in an examination room for another 2 hours. There were 20 people in the ER are you honestly telling me that the staff ia so useless they cant look at 20 people in the span of 5 hours? PATHETIC.

Rajiv Chattopadhyay

Had to be rushed here after an accident. They were very receptive and helpful even though I was being a nuisance (I kept screaming "Ow! my spleen!” because I thought my spleen was injured).

If I could give a 0 I would. Early December, my mother went in to the hospital with severe chest pains. Twice she went into the ER, and they sent her home within two hours with an Aspirin. Two weeks later, her family doctor advised her to get routine bloodwork. To discover she has SEVERE blood Luekemia and it was slowly taking over her body. She is now suffering, fighting for her life and its April. Due to the lack of care, the cancer spread through her body making this fight almost impossible. WORST hospital !! My mom is there right now for the past two weeks (as she got transferred from Kitchener to Cambridge) our zoom visit consisted of 20 minutes of her screaming for her NURSE HELP!! I called twice to see where her nurse was, and NO ONE HELPED HER!! I am limited and not able to see my mom and than seeing her hopeless? UNACCEPTABLE!!! DO NOT bring your loved ones here, I am begging you!!

Tonia Routenburg

I would like too thank everyone in the surgery department. Before and after. Very pleasant in all areas. Dr. Pook and his team on my surgery Feb. 12, 2020. You all made me feel very calm and comfortable. Couldn't of been better. Thanks again.

I felt at home, broke my ankle (2bones were fractured), called 911 because I was by myself and I was rushed to the CMH in the morning. It took me maybe 30 minutes to have my x-ray and CT scan done and after that I was very well taken care by the nurse practitioner Anne Marie and from the fracture department Lilliana. They were amazing and they deserve not only 5stars but 1000 stars! The reason for my 3stars is because I did not even see the doctor! Maybe it's because the doctor was very busy with surgeries, but I think we have to meet personally the doctor who is responsible for you in the ER. This was really disappointing... it seems and felt I was just a number/ or maybe X-ray results to the doctor and I'm just wondering now if I Was accurately diagnosed and if I really do not need surgery because I still feel a lot of pain and my foot still feel loose. Anyways... tomorrow I have an appointment with the doctor and I really wish I will meet the doctor personally. As an update, after going back to the hospital for the return requested by the doctor I changed my rating from 3stars to 4 stars! Dr Daly was very professional and caring and again... Lilliana from the fractures department was amazing!

Poor staff; nurses give you the impression that patients are an inconvenience to them, and doctors act like they have somewhere better to be.

Community mental health is impossible to get ahold of (I have been trying for weeks and I always end up on hold and then it disconnects. I call 3 times before giving up. And the psychiatrist I work with is terrible. No supports given, just told to get over it (and I've been hospitalized twice for suicide attempts) yall really need to find people who a totally care.

Best hospital in Cambridge. Such a great doctor and good service ! I thank him for his kindness

I would not know where to begin except that I will have a conversation with a lawyer for the benefit and protection of the general public. Here is what happened, husband account: My wife suspected to have contracted a urinary tract infection , symptoms familiar. Went to emergency department with urine sample and expected to get prescription for antibiotics. Waited, waited and waited some more. My wife gets called up and she asks me to accompany her but the emergency administrative person refuses to allow me to stay with her and instructs me to stay in the waiting area. Some time later my wife emerges from the emergency entrance door somewhat bewildered informing me that she had been seen by a nurse practitioner and that this nurse had informed her that she may have contracted the urinary tract infection because her husband may have been unfaithful. Luckily, my wife would not consider the nurses analysis as valid or plausible but this may not necessarily be the case with all patience and cause of huge issues in other people's relationships should this nurse continue to spread her own suspicions.

7 MONTHS AND YOU STILL HAVNT REPLYIRD AS USUAL WORST HOSPITAL! SOME THE STAFF IS A JOKE My father came in with broken ribs. We were told he needed an mri. The doctor said it would be 2 days before he could get it done. Meanwhile my family and I have to witness my father screaming and suffering in agonizing pain. As we walk out to the triage waiting area We see the amount of people upset frustrated and in distress while nurses enjoy their time at work laughing and talking about their personal life. Only a few nurses were helpful and supportive.

Had an operation scheduled in which they canceled just as they were about to wheel me in because the air conditioning was failing. Re booked to have cancer removed from my bowls (July 2013), one month after the surgery my entire closure opened and was rushed to a hospital that would not touch me because they were afraid of infection. Sent back to Cambridge to close the incision again. Apparently this happened to 5 others because the sutures didn't hold as the hospital changed suppliers. Two years later July 2015 I had an emergency operation to fix a very large hernia that develop from the previous incident. I have scars that run from under my breast to my pubic bone. So you can imagine what I went through when my gut opened up the first time and how scared I am if it happens again as I may die!!!!

My husband came into emergency with terminal cancer. The healthcare staff were so kind and compationate. They went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable as my husband passed away that evening. I like to thank Dr Evans who took care of my husband that day as well, very caring doctor. Keep up the awesome work your doing, you do make a difference in everyone’s lives.

Been there twice once in emergency and second time in maternity with my wife and the staff on both wings was very helpful and polite. Waiting time compare to other hospitals in GTA is less

They shouldn't be a hospital. The doctors don't care about the care for us. They have sent me home 2 times with a blood clot saying it's anxiety. If you want to die you can go here! 1st time shame on you 2nd time shame on me. WORST HOSPTIAL AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Helder M. Tavares

The ER continues to be an utter disgrace. Doctors are curt and rude.

Pack some food for yourself or bring your credit card to order take out the food here is terrible

Ryan Carrick

Took more than 4 hours to even see the doctor in the emergency room.

Aaron Wall

Wait time in the emerge is average 6 hours. 8 is not unusual. After the wait, the doctors are nice and do a great job

There needs to be more care and compassion. This hospital is changing the way they deal with mental health and It's causing harm to the patients. Psychiatrists, therapists can just drop their patients with little to no warning. Even if they're aware the patient is experiencing a mental health crisis and begging for help .Not a smart move, especially during a pandemic where help is needed most. A patient is only allowed a certain Amount of time with a Dr or therapist before they're kicked out. Leaving them feeling abandoned and lost. This is severely dangerous to people who are in need of help. We put a level of trust into this hospital as our family drs refer us here to receive specialized help...then the mental health workers tell us to go back to family doctors or the emergency room because they wont hesitate to drop the care of a mentally unstable patient. Sometimes the psychiatrists themselves tell you to "get over it" or they speak to you in a patronizing way. I personally knew a patient who explicitly told the mental healthcare workers that she was worried for her own safety before they discharged her anyways. She ended up commiting suicide Shortly after. Patients need to be treat with care and compassion at this hospital. Not thrown out and told to get over it. That solves NOTHING.

My 3 year old had a fever of 103 and on a saturday night, there's no where to take him other then the ER. My wife said it was a 3 hour wait....not that bad actually. That was at 6pm. It is now 11:20 pm and my son is shivering and says he's scared..and she's been asked to wait in the triage area!? I was hit by a car and I was in and out in 2 houra. This is horrible fot patients!!!

Mike Meade

Needed to check if I need stitches in my lip after getting hit with a ball. Checked in at 11:45pm at triage. After an hour got moved to emergency where I waited until 4:00am to be told they won't look at anyone until at least 8am because they have 1 doctor and an intense care just came in. I understand some cases are more severe than others but having more than one doctor is a must so people aren't waiting for over 8 hrs. Update: I left Cambridge and went to Georgetown hospital and was seen within an hr. My tooth went through my lip and required stitches.

russel espiritu

if I could do a -0 rating I would. We received the worst patient service in this Hospital. The nurses and doctors need to work on their bedside manner. With having a family member in healthcare who said that she would never treat her patients like the way this hospital treated my mom during her stay here. Do yourselves a favor and go to Grand River or St. Mary's Hospital or anywhere else for that matter..just not here.

Caution ER patients, severly understaffed and under construction. By the time you’ll find parking you’d be dead alread! Don’t drive here yourself ????

It seems that the doctors are in hurry and nurses are the unhappy with patients. It’s like they just want to get paid and leave. The waiting game will kill you. They need to train all their nurses properly, they have no manners and you will find only 1 out of 1000 nurses with compassion and humanitarian attitude. They call your name and make you wait in the hallway beside other patients, sitting beside each other and the doctor comes yells out your results and physical illness. This is so inappropriate discussing private matter in front of junkies who I never met in my life or will see again. If you guys don’t have enough rooms, why you call our names and make us wait in the middle of the hallway and people passing by and pressing you. These 4 seats are literally facing the washroom, and you can smell whatever is going on there. Been to many hospitals before in CANADA, but never seen dirty and unorganized place like this. You guys get defensive when people write truthful reviews because you guys don’t want to lose your jobs. I felt I was in third world country. You don’t even deserve 1 star.

my child was in so much pain this hospital is the worst with pain and the old doctors are just downright bad if your child is sick go to McMasters children’s hospital.

Worst bedside manner in emergency department. Came in today at 7 am with a lot of pain to the point of being in tears. Triage nurse was kind of rough and rude when taking my blood pressure and temp. The registration lady was so nice and acutely cared about the fact that I was so uncomfortable. Walked down to the actual ER that seemed to be a million miles away when you are in pain. Was put in a room at 0720h where I was told to put a gowned and wrap myself in a sheet. Where I waited another 30 minutes for the doctor to tell me they would need to freeze and drain a cyst on my tail bone. If anyone has had this you will know how painful this is. I was offered no pain management at all while waiting for the doctor to come back. A nurse came in at 0845h give or take to put a topical numbing gel on which thank God took some of the edge off. The nurse told me the doctor would be in in 20mins when the topical gel had time to kick in to freeze and drain it. Well the doctor didn't come in to freeze or drain it tell 0945 so at this time that topical gel is now starting to wear off. The freezing and draining of this cyst was aweful it felt like torture. When it was done being drained I was exhausted and still very uncomfortable. The doctor left the room and told me a nurse would come and pack and dress my incision when the nurse came in she covered my incision with a light dressing she didn't pack the incision or anything which is the proper way for this kind of thing to be done. Was told I could be on my way now at 1025h but when I got up off the bed I was covered in blood and was given nothing to clean up with. Was an aweful experience animals get better treatment.

After some deliberation (mainly knowing that this is just a waist of my time), I feel compelled to write this review in hope that others will divert from this hospital and seek medical assistance elsewhere such as I will from now on as even with an hour or so drive to another hospital I would still save time taking into account the excessive waiting period at this hospital. In the past 3 years i have had the misfortune of having to go to the Emergency of this hospital a few times mostly for my wife and 2 children and every time the excuse is the same as stated by the staff "we do not have enough beds, we only have one doctor, we are short staffed and so on". Then when finally seen by the doctor I find that the diagnosis and treatment recommendation is not always the correct one and need to go my family physician for corrective measure. I don't fault the staff, or at least a good part of them, as it is noticeable that they are trying to do their best with the tools that they have been given and unfortunately they lack in those tools, mainly manpower. Corrective measures need to come from "The System" inclusively senior management. The last time I checked we live in the second best country if not the best in the world but things like this makes it look like a third world country. I truly hope that someone has the courage and the will to turn this negative into a positive. GOOD LUCK

Frances Seward

Christina NORSWORTHY

Hope the hospital will do an X-ray

Kelsey Heeley

Do. Not. Recommend. Boyfriend has in an accident and was taken via ambulance to CMH. Long story short he was brought in at 4:20 pm and had to be admitted and didn’t get a bed until 2:30am. All the while he was laying on his back which was in the most pain, for hours. We had to ask nurses repeatedly AND different nurses for pain medication. Not all, but most of the staff we encountered had an attitude of “looked down on people”. He was stuck in emerg all evening & into the following morning. when he was trying the sleep the nurses (night shift specifically) were as loud as possible. had no respect for patients unless they were super old or a baby and got snippy when you said something back to them about what someone else said to you. There is a STRONG LACK of effective communication, respect for patients and lack of staff who do this work because they care. At least that’s the impression this hospital has given me.

Ben Vautour

I was born here in 92’ Can’t say I recall my experience.

All staff we dealt with and encountered, from doctors to nurses to cleaning staff to admin, were professional and kind, exceptional in every way. Very proud to have this organization here in Cambridge.

Sue Kazienko

My sister and I want to thank the staff at Cambridge Memorial Hospital for their caring assistance with our 98 year-old father in the Ambulatory Care area of the hospital. A big thank you, especially to Kim in administration, for her quick action in making a possibly embarrassing situation less so.

Darian Louks

I would give 0 stars if I could. I can't explain how horrible this hospital is. Mismanaged and poorly organised, they have the rudest nurses and their hospital cleaners are a joke. I've spent the last 3 years in testing and been to numerous hospitals/specialists and no place had the complete lack of bedside manner and capabilities that CMH has. I wish they would axe all staff and start over honestly, everyone I know who has worked here echos the sentiment of horrible staff and worse management.

Rezy Espedion

I arrived at 2:30 PM and waited for almost 5 hours just to know that my name was not on the list. But how come my name was not on the list when a nurse called me and asked me the reason I came to ER, then after I answered her she told me to wait at the back. And that’s where the waiting game started. I just waited for nothing so I decided to go home. Terrible experience.

What a joke this hospital is. You tell my step dad he has a mass in his lungs, then proceed to send him home with nothing. No information on what's going on and what to do next. Instead we had to take him to kitchener, where he was admitted. No only do you get mediocre care, but the hospital should be the cleanest place in this whole city and it definitely is not. It's disgusting how dirty the Cambridge Memorial Hospital is. I will never go there again!! Update: It won't let me reply to you comment Cambridge Memorial Hospital, so I will edit this one and hope you see it. In this case there was no reference to an outpatient anyting. We took him to Kitchener the next day because he couldn't even sign his name at the bank, or speak in a sentence that made sense. They actually did tests on him and told us a tone of information, that you would have known if you just did one of those tests, instead of just sending him home. He never went home after that, and died a week later. You do the least amount of work possible, push them out and on to the next, not caring if you just sent a dying man/woman home. I stick by my statements, that this hospital is a joke, all you get is mediocre care, if that and its filthy. You can look into whatever you want but nothing will change at this hospital, it's been the same since I've lived here and it won't take long for the new part to be just as disgusting as the rest of the hospital.

Arrived at Cambridge memorial hospital At 11:00pm with severe chest pain barely could breathe and was having aches and pains all over my body. all the way from the front desk to triage the nurse was extremely nice and understanding and caring from triage the Very friendly nurse also did an EKG on me in the moment I was panicking and was having an very hard time breathing she made sure that I was comforted and understood what they were doing to me.I also got bloodwork done and that nurse that did it was also extremely gentle and helpful. From there I went to go get an X-ray and the radiologist was also so patient and friendly. after waiting for a bit we got to see the doctor who discharged me he was also just so kind and friendly and made sure I understood everything before I left. I’m overall so happy with my experience everyone who took care of me was amazing and deserve more than five stars Thank you CHM for talking such good care of me ❤️

Melanie

Had my baby early and doctors and nurses at labour and delivery were amazing including our special nursery care nurses. My baby is receiving amazing care and they are lovely people. Also spent some time in Er. Was seen quickly and my condition was taken seriously .

This hospital doesn't even deserve one star but that is the lowest rating I can give it. Staff is horrible and management is even worse. If you have a complaint about patient care they will just deny everything and take no responsibility for anything that happened.

Marlene

My husband had day surgery this Tuesday. It was the first time he has ever had to have surgery. Of coarse he was nervous but the nursing staff were wonderful. Thank you Debbie(i hope I remembered your name) and thank you to Dr Penner's team and the ansitiologist. You are all great .thank you

Marlene S

It really depends on the staff working. Some times they have a moody male doctor on and to staff seems moody as a result. He is young and a know it all. Aside from him the ER is wonderful especially the nurses.

Andrea Wagner

ER department is INCREDIBLY slow. 5+ hour wait??? This just can't be acceptable.

i was in emergency 3 weeks ago whith elbo pain and i was seen by shoe macker nurse by the name anne marie she tolde me to go have altrasound on my sholder and she was so rood dint whant to give me no medication for pain she also give me her name writen in paper hand towel thats not profational .

My grandfather is currently in the hospital, due to a seizure caused by previous health issues. He was admitted to ICU once he got through Emerge. I can understand and respect most of the new protocols put in place because of covid. I really thought that the nurses/staff would be communicating more since he can't have any visitors, but we can never get ahold of anyone. We had a zoom call scheduled at 4:30 today, so we could finally see him... But something went wrong and we were all disconnected. The " paid volunteer" who is supposed to help with these calls left before she could help him connect. We sat waiting at the computer for the allowed 45 min for her to just click a button to let us join! She didn't even let us say bye.. She just ended the call, without getting to say anything to him. During our wait, we called the ICU, and around the hospital to see if someone could connect us, but no one ever did. We also just found out through my uncle that they moved his room, and no one contacted his wife, kids, or anyone else. It's very heartbreaking that the hospital and staff aren't now understanding to patients and family's needs at this time.

Considering they hand out word searches and phone chargers to the people waiting in energ says a lot.

Tonight I was out walking doing some shopping in 104 humidity around 6:30. I live in a hilly area of town. Own my way home caring my stuff I tripped on a side way crack. I girl and guy stopped at my side and stayed with me until 2 EMS trucks pulled up to take care of me. The 2 drives girls wanted to take me to the Hospital. I Incised no 4 or 5 times . So they drove me home and made sure I got in the door OK. Now that was great Canadian service. I didn't even have ID on me. They really only wanted my name and got all the details off my local hospitals data base. Amazing work girls.

Ok here is the thing, nobody loves hospitals or waiting so long but I'm sharing my own experience just today, I got into the ER many times before because of my health situation, today I came in my worst shape and I didn't wait more than 30 mins to see the doctor as soon as they saw Me they got worried, all is fine till now but I'm so thankful and appreciative of the fact that when they decided to transfer me to grand river hospital in Kirchner cuz of more tests to be done they send nurse Madison with me and honestly I hope she can read my comment because I can't thank her enaugh of how kind she was and patient all the time even though she was done her shift she stayed with me and made sure I'm not panicking she stayed up with me till 9 am overnight..and we both were like zombies but she hold it up for me, thank you mady honestly.so maybe ppl they had bad experiences with the time waiting ect... But when you find a good staffs who cares you won't feel bad about anything else

D Anco

I can’t believe this hospital hires most unprofessional and unmotivated ER physician ever!Literally did not want to deal with us and brushed us away. Was not listening to us and continued to say there’s nothing wrong.... avoid this hospital if you can

Mina Kunwar

All staff are really good when I was in hospital they love and care me like as my mom and family. I am really appreciate their help.

Bryan Rosekat

Went to the ER with my 1 year old who had difficulty breathing tonight. Gasping for breaths at an increased rate. Visibly in distress. No guidance or timeline given by anyone. Had to leave after 5 hours. Day after note: ended up driving to McMaster because his oxygen saturation was dropping below 92%. He needed a bronchial dialator. As a first responder and someone that provides care to people, I'm ashamed this my home town hospital. Based on the previous reviews, no patients being seen in that 5 hour time span, the lack of information provided by the staff so I can even make an informed decesion, it would surprise me if there was actually a doctor seeing patients during this time period.

Frontier Admin

We are so thankful fo True excellent staff and care we received over 5 months last year . You saved my husbands life and we will all be forever grateful . Dr. Macleod was top notch and I would highly recommend thanks again to everyone. You were all so kind and We are so appreciative what you do .

Messed up system. Extreme.rude staff in emerg. Took all nite.long jus to do.xray and see the doc. Health system.is f...ed up in this country. One rather die.at home. Even timmy closed early evening. Lol. Govts are good at collecting money from the public. Thas the only thing they are good at.

Torsten Mueller

Not the cleanest, prettiest or even best organized hospitals. However, the people here are friendly and the care is top notch. Emerge is far quicker than Grand River and they are diligent with diagnosing and treating your ailments I have been through many areas of the hospital and am currently writing this review from a hospital bed.

Mike Down

I have had 3 hernia procedures done there in the last year. I found the care was excellent from triage, through emergency, my operations and post operative care. I spent a total of 14 days there and the doctors were excellent and the nurses were incredible to deal with. In my experience they were very professional and courteous and made sure I was as comfortable as possible although getting woken up in the middle of the night for "vitals" was a drag. I appreciate everything they did for me.

Haseen

Amazing experience. I accompanied a friend who didn't feel her baby move and had a high BP. We were amazed with the care. Thankyou to the nurse and doctor who took care. Clean hospital and Not crowded. Stay safe.

Douglas Productions

No beside manner. I felt verbally attacked by the doctor.

I dropped my partner off with severe stomach pain at 10:30 it's 7am the next day and he hasn't been seen. It's probably going to be a 10 hour wait which is completely unacceptable. Have an on call doctor if you have that many patients. I know that some of the blame lies with the government cuts but this hospital is ALWAYS at least a 5 hour wait which is also way too long. It was better before the addition at least then it was a 3 hour wait most times. I will make the trip to Grand River from now on. Edit: it's been 16 hours and he's still there waiting to speak with a doctor. This is basically torture, he can't even get a bed to sleep. He got in at 1030 and it's 3pm the next day

Kay Kingsmill

Web-site is a waste of time. Click on the link to find the listing for a department, the "Page cannot be found". This is a great help when my daughter is writhing in pain and I need to contact the doctor in the ER who ordered her painkillers because the pharmacy could not find him listed. She was seen in ER because she does not have a primary care physician. Not impressed that someone would be left in great pain without the ability to contact the doctor, and without recourse!!

Deborah Valentine

I have called long distance from Nova Scotia over the last 3 days to a patient over 36 times...without success !!! I was asked the patients name, and the call was put thru to his room, without success. I ended up complaining to the operator that the phone in the patients room must be turned off as not only I was unable to get thru, but the patients daughter tried 18 times and was unsuccessful !!! Something is definitely wrong with the system !!!And can't seem to get it corrected !!!

Mackenzie Blain

Staff were extremely nice and caring during our visit. Came by several times to check in with us and assure us things were going smoothly. Glad to have such a great hospital in Cambridge!

I recently visited Cambridge Memorial Hospital ???? , and my experience was incredibly pleasant. Everyone from front desk, Assistant at the entrance very welcoming environment. Super clean well managed. The Nurses and doctors I’m grateful for ????, Highly educated polite people who value the purpose of their field. I would like to Thank all of you!

My pregnant wife and I moved to Cambridge in April of 2019 from Burlington, we heard alot of mixed reviews about Cambridge memorial. It was abit of a concern for us, but after our experience in the labor and delivery area of CMH, we consider ourselves so lucky for the experience we had in that ward. All the nurses... Christina, Taya, and the one with the one with the purple highlight in her hair (forgive me for forgetting your name)... You and everyone else were AMAZING. You all made the birth of our first child so easy and we felt taken care of and my wife and I cannot thank you enough for everything you did for my wife, my newborn son and for me. The team at CMH sets the standard for what other hospitals want to be.

This was probably the worst experience I’ve ever had it was extremely cold and I felt sick just being in there there was no staff at the front desk for over an hour worst hospital. Also there was a young man with a bleeding foot and they didn’t even give him crutches to walk.

It is a nice place to work.

If I was told that this hospital was the only hospital that could save my life, I would die peacefully knowing I made the right choice. This hospital is a shining beacon of an example why there are people in this country who want some form of private healthcare. I have dealt with ~16 nurses, 2 doctors, and 2 surgeons at this hospital. I honestly have no issue with the surgeons and 1/3rd of the nurses were fine. The rest were terrible. Don't expect to be able to ask any nurse more than one question about you or your care. Don't expect doctors to be interested in helping you if you have any questions about your care. Don't even go to this terrible excuse for a hospital if you can avoid it. Also, Cambridge memorial hospital account, when you inevitably respond to this review, know that I'm not changing it.

Some of the nurses are remarkable, others not so much. Two experiences I've had one in ER and one in maternity. The paediatric nurses were AMAZING. Sweetest, most genuine woman I have ever met. However, the nurses in maternity were few and far in between. I had one really sweet nurse when I was there, the others were ridiculous. We were first time parents...never shown how to bathe, etc. I had an unplanned c-section, and the second day the nurse was checking the incision so she had me lay back... I don't know if you have ever had a c-section but on the second day you can't exactly lift yourself....well she refused to help me back up from a laying position and I had to wait for my husband to return to the room to help me back up. Like, are you kidding me? I rarely saw the nurses while I was in there... other than that, the OB's are amazing... and the OR and recovery nurses were very sweet.

Roger Baker

Waited for ever to be seen by a doctor. Hospital appears to be very under staffed! I’ll make the drive to a different hospital next time.

Worse service ever. Almost six hour wait for me to not even get checked. Pretty sure they forgot about me. Every time I've come it's been 6+ hour wait for them to send me home and say "I'll live." I don't think I'll be worrying about going to the hospital anymore.

Wait times are ridiculous, everything else is ok

Don't know where the bad reviews are from. Went in for a perforated appendix. (didn't know until about 2-3 hours in, just couldn't pee, once they could do tests they knew) Nurses have been great, surgery for appendicitis went great, and they have been taking care of my recovery in the hospital excellently. Shout out to Dr. McCloud and her surgical team for doing a great job on me.

This place is no joke. Very dangerous place to be when you have an emergency. I mean Sat night the emergency has 1 doctor on duty with a waiting room full of 25 or more people. Was told it would be 8-12 hour wait. Can you imagine having to wait 8-12 hours to see a doctor and you are in the Emergency waiting room. 30 years ago before all of the Immigration, the word Emergency used to mean something.

Gordie Hanna

A clean hospital that is being expanded. Very helpful staff too.

Arch Enemy

Lousy, hospital, lousy staff, they have the nerve to fire there workforce and that was when wait times were 6-8 hours, good luck getting in now not that Id want to, Id rather spend my remaining time at home then come in and suffer with those incompetent, ignorant clods HEY here is an idea stop paying your management such ludacris sums of money and hire decent staff

Mike Roberts

Was there today for a battery of tests for possible leukaemia or other abdominal cancer. The techs were great, the appointments were on time and their attitudes were full of compassion. I can't wait till the construction is over. ER wait times are long, but if people would just go to a walk-in clinic for minor matters (as they're suppose to do), ER waits would drop to a couple hours as it is "The Emergency" department, not the "It's 'kind of ' important" department. It's a shame so many left bad reviews because my experiences here have always been good, and the nurses were always fantastic.

D&T

First of all, I've had a handful of experiences at this hospital and I cannot say one bad thing about any of them. Recently I had my best experience there and believe it or not it was child birth. On the night of October 6th I met a nurse name Aida. She never left my side during my labour. There are no words to describe this woman. She is very special and this is 100% her calling - other nurses even agreed! Dana, you were also great! Dinesh, Tara and baby Theo thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The next day we met a handful of other nurses on the 4th floor and even blood technicians who were so friendly and caring it blew our minds. Thank you Laney on the 4th floor, Michelle and Natalie in the Billy clinic. Such a great team! We will remember every single one of you.

Brenda Drury

Waiting time 4, Doc care 6, Nurses 8 Overall very caring , patient and helpful.

Pooja Viswanath

Very bad experience at Cambridge memorial hospital. The OB nurse before even asking patient concerns, dismissed the patients worries and went on ranting about why the patient shouldn’t come to hospital but rather go to a pharmacist first. If the patient can diagnose their health condition and know that a pharmacy is better than hospital, then what’s the point of having healthcare providers ! The nurse was very rude, dismissive and inhumane. Wish there was a system to complain.

Tera Chambers

Very clean

Peter Sarabura

Assistant NP didn't take down all my symptoms, just dismissed most of them. The older woman NP was very short, curt, and not empathetic in any way. Since they wouldn't listen to all my symptoms they prescribed a treatment that would have ended up seriously injuring me.

I had an orthopedic surgean tell me not to go to bypass Cambridge momorial and go staght to Mac master for any orthopedic emergency.

Margaret Taggart

If the cause of illness isn't obvious, good luck! Instead of pooling specialties to assess the patient in order to determine appropriate tests, a generalist runs lots of tests by guesswork, promises specialist consults for 2 weeks but never actually consults. Could be liver, could be kidneys, could be heart...If you actually need a diagnosis, go elsewhere. On the positive side, the nursing & PSW staff were fantastic, pleasant, helpful and cheerful.

What a horrible hospital. One doctor in ER during a pandemic. Did I mention ONE doctor in ER? I don’t think they know what they’re doing here. Talk about a time capsule of a hospital!

Filed complaint, hope its taken seriously, i was treated very poorly and felt helpless being in the most painful and vulnerable time of my life. The most ridiculous hospital i have ever been to, most of the staff are extremely rude.

Nasir Wahab

Came here at 1am and now its 5:15am and yet no signs of any doctor, is this really a hospital??? And there are hardly 4 to 5 patients. This place need staff not just the new building... 6 hours and still no dr, leaving without getting checked up.... what a waste of night ...

Worst hospitality, improper behaviour of staff and receptionist was worst. Long queue and slow process.

Attentive to their guests. Parking is expensive.

If you go to this hospital prepare yourselves for an unpleasant and frustrating experience.

Went to the mental health ward in December and my favorite story to tell is after telling my nurse I didn't feel safe at the hospital anymore - since my morning visit Dr was lying to me, he told me - and I quote "Maybe next time you shouldn't come here" very A+ thing to tell somebody who came because of suicide thoughts. Didn't see a psych or a therapist at all, sat in a room by myself for 3 days until they couldn't force me to stay anymore. Dr told me they would call to check up on me and never heard from them again. Also took 2 days to get a breastpump despite telling them from the time they admitted me to the time they finally listened to me about my breasts hurting that I was still nursing and would need to pump. 0/10 experience. Mental Health workers need to do better.

We had very best experience in CMH . Special care nursery staff were awesome . They take care our little one like a family member . Happy with over all performance

I'm currently waiting to see the doctor, and I'm already rating my experience as a 2. So now not only am I in severe pain but now I'm also upset. The nurses in triage were great. The nurse I unfortunately had to deal with in emergency area was just rude. If I'm telling you I'm in severe pain and I'm not sure what to do, do NOT patronize me, do not ask me what would happen if you cut off my leg off!!?(pain has nothing to do with my leg, I don't like where she was going with the questions) Like what kind of question is that? I'm trying to explain to her the amount of pain I'm in. I have a high tolerance with pain, if it wasn't bad and I wasnt at a loss I wouldn't be here seeking help. Just unprofessional, and dealing with that nurse has turned me off of this hospital. Next time I'll go to St Mary's, or Grand River hospital. There is no reason or need to be rude to a patient. I don't care how many hours your working or if you hate your job. Leave if you can't handle it. It's disappointing to see how many complaints there are towards the rude and unprofessional staff here. Perhaps you should be talking to your staff and doing something about this. Edit- doctor and other nurses have been really nice. The medication they've given me has not taken the pain away, but I appreciate their kindness.

If I could give this hospital a 0, I would. My son went to this hospital with a concussion and they treated him like he had no injury whatsoever. It is very disappointing to me to know that they treated my son this way. I worked in the medical field for years, and would never treat anyone the way they treated my son. Anyone with a head injury or a suspected head injury should be treated with a great deal of care, no matter what ethnicity they are, not be discriminated against. I am more than disappointed with this hospital. It is disgraceful how they treat people. Sending my child outside in -22 weather with a head injury could have led to him dying and a negligent homicide charge for several members of the E.R. of this hospital. Please avoid, this hospital, if you are of colour and have a serious injury. If you go to this hospital, you are playing luck of the draw on whether your physician is or is not a racist. Update: In light of your unapologetic response, I will decline to cooperate with you for a show of an investigation. As I stated before, I worked in the medical field myself. I am disgusted by the way your staff treated my son. Your hospital already had the opportunity to do the right thing and threw it away. On a parting note, I am sure you are confident in the ability of your staff to be respectful and professional: Firstly, because they work for you. And, secondly, because you are likely not black. My son is part black. If he was white, I am sure he would have been treated better. This situation is not a excuse to cart out a blue shield or to make it sound like I have to prove to you how my son was treated by your highly racist E.R. staff.

Mathew Hammond

This is the WORST hospital I have ever been to. If you have nothing to do all week come here because it will take that long to see a dr. If you want to be treated like garbage this is also the place for you! I can't believe they call this a hospital it is just horrendous. I have been constantly ignored because junkies in the hospital yelling get more attention than anyone else. Go ANYWHERE but Cambridge memorial!!!

John Mark Dickinson

Dr. Nateghifard and Simone at his office have been nothing but excellent! Dr. Nateghifard was very informative, had a good sense of humour and was straight up with me all the time. Simone is a very hard worker managing all his patients and gave me top notch service. I appreciate all they've done for me and easily give them both a 5 star rating. Thanks for the great job!!

Carol Westerdyk

On Monday January 6th , my father and I brought my 84 yr old mother in suffering from tachycardia. Her resting heart rate was 144. Within minutes she was given an EKG. The triage nurse rushed my mother for an echocardiogram. She was quickly seen by the ER doctor who treated her with medication to correct her rapid heart rate. Thank you to everyone at Cambridge Memorial hospital for taking care of my mother. Your quick response to what could have been a very different outcome. My mother left later that evening to go home, knowing she was going to be okay. Cant say it loud enough THANK YOU!!!

Juli Edward

Went in for day surgery, everyone was extremely nice from the volunteers, to the nurses, surgeon and anesthesiologist, and put my fears to rest. I was super nervous, but won't be again! Had no issues, everything went tickety-boo, and I think Cambridge Hospital did a great job. Sometimes you get back what you put out in the world I think:)

Kayla Bradley

Staff is rude and ignores you when you ask them for help. Wait times are RIDICULOUS. While I understand that some patients take priority over others (severity of injury and what not) why am we waiting 5 hours+ for them to read an x-ray and hand us a piece of paper. This is for a possibly broken foot (who knows were are STILL waiting for results) , if it were an actual emergency youd be better of just staying home because youll probably end up dying just waiting to be seen anyway.

Shayna Smith

Took my 4 year old in at 7pm for a dog bite to the face. We did not see a triage nurse for an hour and a half. Sat in a small room with vomiting children, coughing adults, and a person who was not mentally all there. 1 nurse was doing triage. Once done there, I had to wait in the cubicle for the man to leave the area before I felt safe moving around to the hallway to walk to the Emerge waiting area (The nurse had me leave through another door as to avoid him). Here I was seen by a Nurse practitioner after an hour. She was able to help my daughters open wound and get us on our way. I don't know why we waited soooo long in triage as it was not necessary, especially with sick children. Something needs to be done.

I went in to get help with a burn to my eyeball and early signs of pneumonia/chest infection. I was told my eye is just dried out and given one i drop of freezing, but i then had to remind them of my chest illness... Was told nothing shows up in the x-ray and wished good luck. I sat down in the waiting room exhausted and unwell enough to had fallen asleep for more than 13 hours and realised I was missing my back pack..? The 2 security guards told me I was crazy, called me a bum, to get out of the hospital immediately... Shockingly to also get a job (though i do have one and had to stay awake 4 full days and nights in order to be ready and able to work the shifts that i never got a call for) After an exchange of words about me talking to someone who can help locate my missing bag and precisely how easily my situation could get fixed... The 2 rent a cops thought escorting me to the curb was a fairer and easier feat for them to secure the situation their lack of securing had actually.caused. "13-14 hours of my sleeping in the waiting room very uncomfortably, after being seen by a physician... Shows exactly what I mean, about the two of them not doing an effective job in respect to either of them not noticing my accidental slumber" My much needed relief of the past 96 hours spent awake freezing outdoors since our system unlawfully returned me and roommates to homelessness after the powers that be, gave my roommates and i a surprise 5 min to evict order... for not filing a review of a already dismissed matter, that was also said to us that we can expect contact be made from the tribunal to update us on the courts decision process and timeline to prepare for... This also was served just 29 days thereafter and not the 30th day that everyone is supposed.to have in order to file a review or appeal. So resuming my horrible continuance of our healthcare system... The 2 security guards assumed wise to tell me without haste, that 1 of my 2 backpacks was enough to move on about my life and that they will arrest me if i try to come back... I demanded to know the managers name and phone number, and was given only a first name but denied his number. I realised then that my cell phone was 0% power and my other backpack had my charger, hygiene supplies and other vital survival items, needed to get me through the weekend and back to work on Monday. So I left the ER entrance and went back in the other far end main entrance to speak with housekeeping or some other governing authority for the help in finding my missing bag. To reach a voice of reason over the two guards who took humour to my crisis and the unfortunate results of my need for seeking medical attention that turned up to be nothing but a waste of time. The two judgmental, bias and completely arrogant guards took pride in grabbing me and physically taking me back the curb denying all of my suggestions to help me find my luggage. This bullying was done a second time in 30 min even though i said i was being compliant with each of their demands, and many other of my colourful words were expressed to and directly about them, were said in my honest opinion as they kept proceeding with the hands on approach to deny my getting the simple resolve I desperately needed. This again proved just how heartless and cold this province "that i am udderly ashamed to have ever returned to, or had called my home" has become and just how cruel people can be when i comes to the simplest things, that they choose to not understand and what people can and wont do for one another in a time of struggle, worry, hardship and need. I demanded to contact their superior about this and was laughed at, sent packing with only 1/2 of what i packed in and even still in a great deal of pain, 50% vision and still unwell with no medical prescription to help me get through this hell. If any attorney are out there and wish to help me show these two and their employer, what is and what is not at acceptable in the eyes of the law and human decency then please comment on this review... Thank you

I was diagnosed with C-Difficile on November 30, 2020. After going to the emergency department 3 times, I was finally admitted (never once was it checked to see if I was dehydrated). While laying in the hospital bed, with bag #15 of IV fluids still running, blood pressure was 180/100, I was told I was being sent home. The doctor did not attend to the high blood pressure issue because he told me that was not the reason I came in!! He actually told me I need to go back to emergency. I have had 2 hospital stays here and had to report the first doctor because he wrote a report, saying he listened to my chest and all was clear. Not only have I never even seen this doctor, I actually had bronchitis, but he wouldn't know because he wrote a fake report. There were many empty rooms on the A200 floor, so I wasn't discharged because they needed my bed for a Covid person. My only option, I feel, is to move to a different city where they have a hospital with educated doctors, unlike this one. I will be 59 in a couple of weeks and as I age, things break down. I can't live in a city where the hospital doesn't know how contagious C Difficile is, how to treat high blood pressure or doesn't have the common sense to check if a person is dehydrated using the restroom at least 20 times per day since November 30, 2020. Today is January 4th 2021. I was/am STILL using the restroom at least 5 times per day and of course this number has increased as I'm eating at home. Another call is in to the patient advocate as well as the Chief of Staff over the doctors. *****NEVER GO TO THIS HOSPITAL*****

Marlene Laurin

Just left there with my 3 and a half year old daughter. I will say yes the wait times are long and suck when you have a small child. It can be a bit stressful when your child is whiney to go home cause they have been sitting so long. But I will say the staff make up for it. They're caring and really go above and beyond. CJ thank you for always being so kind any time I go in. Youre extremely thoughtful and super sweet to my kids. My daughter absolutely adores you and you made her feel so comfortable. She was one happy little girl when she got home. Thank you to all the other staff also that made sure my daughter felt comfortable. I don't think you guys hear it enough but we appericate all the work you do

tina miller

Not that I ever want to go to the hospital, but when I do I've always been treated with the utmost care and compassion. Today it was the Diagnostic Imaging crew. Thanks again :)

Joanie Cooper

There is barely ever disability parking available. There is such poor help from staff and I've never gone in before and received exemplary service!!

Tracey O'Brien

CMH in general is a good hospital. Only one BIG problem... NO Tim Hortons open overnight.!!! Complete b.s since coffee is always needed at a hospital

Kavin The Klaw

Place is amazing the doctors are very friendly and nice if you are in a emergency go here for any reason

April Brown

If I could give it zero stars I would, the new emergency has more room then the old building. Was told at the tour the wait times would decrease, I’ve found they have only increased. Asked two employees if they could help us find our way to X-ray In the old building they said to us they aren’t sure and to ask someone else.

Jass Randhawa

Eric Hayton

I have been there to Emergency on 2 separate occasions for injuries. Wait times were short, nurses were fast and professional, surgeons were absolutely top shelf. Staff is very friendly and thorough.

Mike B

I had too go to Emergency and I was pleasantly pleased with how well I was treated from triage right down to getting all the necessary tests. The staff work hard and yes the building is showing it's age, but it's only a matter of time until the new expansion opens! Having a hospital in Cambridge is a blessing. The free wifi plus ER wait time technology was also very neat to see :)

I am writing to lodge a complaint against Cambridge memorial hospital. Earlier today (April 15th 2017) around 5am my Husband presented himself to your emergency room with a medical concern. Once past triage he was taken into the back. He was evaluated and medication was ordered. However, a Sub cut injection of Toradol for pain was given to my Husband. Right after this injection he was sent on his way. (Injection, script given right after and sent on his way) Let’s note that not only has my husband NEVER had this mediation before, the side effects of this medication include but are surely not limited to dizziness; drowsiness and headaches and that CNO and Canadian board of physicians BEST PRACTICE policies state that when giving a NEW medication through IV or Injection a patient must be watched for signs and symptoms of reactions (up to 20mins). Well my husband was NOT monitored, but rather rushed out of the ER. Upon leaving within 5 mins max he ended up passing out within the HALLS of CMH (on route to the temporary ER doors). He was not sure how long he was unconscious on the floor and NO ONE helped him! Upon coming conscious again he presented himself to the ER once again. Because of this he suffered injuries to his facial region and skull and now has to delay surgical intervention for his actual medical concerns, and miss work do to these new, what was very preventable, injuries. I am extremely displeased with this situation. I find it appalling that not only did the staff NOT follow best practice policies but that my Husband was injured IN the hospital RIGHT near the busiest area and NOT a single staff member assisted him. I would appreciate an investigation into this and word of what is to be done to prevent such issues from occurring to other community member’s. hospital's is where one is to go to get better, not injured do to negligence. Sincerely, Kerry Emmans

Pre COVID I was there for day surgery. I was very well taken care of. It was a busy day but I didn’t lack for attention and care.

Denise Roque

My son jus had ear surgery and we got absolutely NO post-op care whatsoever!!!!!!! Compared to the care my other son received at Grand River hospital, this seems like a jail institution and Grand River hospital is a five star all-inclusive resort!! The surgeon works out if this hospital, otherwise I would not come her and certainly will never come here again! Horrible!!

Jenn Hawkshaw

This hospital is horrible. If you want to die waiting for someone to treat you as a human and actually listen to you about All of your symptoms then go here! After being brought here by ambulance I was told by the ambulance driver he was told I needed to get off the gurney and sit in a wheelchair in the ER waiting room even though I was crying in pain. After sitting there balling in pain finally a nurse brought me to a bed where I was left until the next day before I even saw a doctor. I was sent down for three untrasounds and sent back up all three times. My abdomen was so distended and I couldn't breath. I begged for somebody to just help me and basically all they thought I was there for apparently was drugs. Finally the following day after a family member came and reamed out the nurses to get a dam doctor to come and properly assess me and maybe actually touch my abdomen was I only then sent for a CT scan....20 minutes after my CT scan the doctor came in and said my uterus had exploded!!!! And I needed surgery right away. Off to surgery I went and it turns out my abdomen was filled with over 2 1/2 litres of pus and that is why they could no longer see my uterus and clearly it had been like this for days or more. My Fallopian tube and overy had an abscess that was MISSED in an ultrasound at this same hospital a few days prior to my ambulance ride here. So I lost both of those. I stayed in the hospital for 6 more days to get the infection under control. I could have died I was told. Even the anesthesiologist came to my room the next day to see how I was because I was so ill. Him and the surgeons that worked on me were the only ones who treated me as a human! Maybe if this hospital stopped for 5 minutes to listen to someone who is crying in pain and not automatically think they are there for drugs I would have been treated sooner and not lost my ovary and Fallopian tube. And just an FYI I am not a frequent flyer at the hospital or ER and am disappointed that is how I was treated. I was told I maybe if I was lucky had one more day before I had full blown sepsis and died. Thanks CMH for being such a crap hospital. Should I ever be ill again I will drive myself to another hospital. My mother came and spoke to a lady named Cathy Hurley who said she would look into what went on and get back to us....right. Been home recovering still for over a month and haven't heard a word back from anyone!!!

I want with my baby to the emergency and the nurses over their are very rude. They are just like Robots.

Olivia Gawro

Very unprofessional and treat you as if your lying about your condition even when I went to emergency.

My dad is currently at CMH and is having trouble breathing. They just told him to take some Tylenol and go home. One month ago he had silent pneumonia and was treated at Grand River Hospital. He was at GRH for 3 days and it took many tests to discover his diagnoses. He has all the same symptoms as last time and required proper medication to heal. He has been at CMH since 12:30pm today and it is now 6:15pm, has not seen a doctor only saw a nurse. This Hospital is not safe. If you are reading this do not go here or send anyone you love here. I will be taking him straight back to Grand River Hospital or St. Mary’s where he will be treated by a doctor and hopefully treated with care and not neglected like Cambridge Hospital has done. To follow up after my review. MY father was NOT seen by a doctor, only a nurse practisioner (who is not a doctor) My dad went to his own doctor after and found out that he should have been admitted right away as he was suffering with a HEART CONDITION know as pericardium effusion, (fluid around the heart). This hospital is unsafe and if the in Waterloo Region do not go here, please take yourself to St. Mary's or Grand River.

Amanda Mackay

Can I start by telling you how the nurse practitioner in emerge and dr Chan will absolutely risk your life? I found out I was pregnant last April and immediately had issues. Long story short I was in and out of the hospital for a month. On one of my visits I found out I had ectopic. Dr chan came in told me I can choose to have surgery or methotrexate to dissolve the pregnancy. I literally had no idea why I was even given a choice considering my tube was ruptured or going to rupture at that point. ( it was highly irritated) I obviously chose methotrexate. The next day I ruptured and was at the hospital yet again screaming in pain.. I was sent to the NURSE PRACTITIONER who I had seen almost every time I went in. She was so insensitive to my situation and incredibly rude. ( like hellllo, pregnancy loss!) She called Doctor butler who refused to See me. She told me very matter of factly that it's like a miscarriage and I should experience pain ( but I was screaming on the floor of my house unable to walk with excruciating sharp pain and bleeding). As if I was wasting her time. She hit my stomach so hard to see if it hurt, which only did because of how hard she hit me. She gave me pain killers and sent me to ultrasound and home. I was terrified and set my alarm to wake me up every few hours to make sure I'm not hemorrhaging, which on the first alarm I knew I was! Called 911 to find out I was and needed emergency surgery. ALL Of the nurses had heard about me on my recovery floor and all of the insanity that had gone on and apologized for what happened. I really don't think the doctors/nurse practitioner cared or even knew what they were doing. The triage nurses and recovery nurses were amazing. I can only imagine what would the result have been if I slept on their word and was bleeding internally the entire night. Major mistakes made. My life was risked and there was no proper care. Even the paramedic told me I should have went to another hospital. He was not impressed. I have heard so many horror stories about dr chan. I don't know why more action has not been taken against him.

Friendly staff, layout is a little confusing. Long wait time in emergency room, but that's expected. Easy access by public transportion as well as the bus stops are right in front of the hospital.

I find it demonic of this hospital not allowing family members to visit their loved ones just because they did not get a Covid Vax. If that vaccine worked, vaccinated people would not get covid! I have a friend in ICU and his wife and children can't visit. This hospital is funded by tax payors. Shameful!

Shout out to DR. ROY GILLIES and NURSE KHAN WAQAS in the emergency dept. If i could only give you thousand stars, i would! You guy’s are incredibly helpful, friendly and super nice!!! Love going to this hospital, Very nice people and they make you feel you are very important and treat you like their own family. Thank you all so mucchhhhhh!!!!!

Extensive reason for my review will eventually make it to Patient Relations.

This place is useless and has the rudest staff at a hospital I have ever encountered you miswell just stay at home because coming here will do absolutely nothing other then waste your time

My son fell out of a tree and broke his wrist yesterday. We were obviously frantic and concerned. From the time we arrived until we left we were greeted with kindness and support. The care providers were incredibly helpful, promptly gave my son some medication for pain. Dr Matthew, ortho was incredibly kind. He spoke softly to my very scared son and took time to explain to me. Nurse Georgio was fantastic..he was sweet and funny and so incredibly careful. I wanted to express how thankful I am to all the staff and especially those who provided care to my son. I cant even imagine how the pandemic has hit you both personally and professionally but I humbly say thank you to you all.

My pregnant wife who suffers from anxiety was finally able to get an ultrasound to find out if she’d miscarried or not and they forced me to stay out. I was already in the waiting room **mask on**, complying to all their over-the-top “COVID rules” and they refused me to be with my wife for this devastating moment. This is all getting out of hand!

The Four Explorers

This hospital almost killed my child the Dr kept sending me home when my child was in pain little did all the Dr realize my child had food poisoning and the infection went septic. Please please be careful. GRH finally agreed to give me a paediatrician after I refused to leave the hospital ! The charge nurse Paul is the biggest liar. The example of some Drs is the result of the least wanted Doctors in Ontario. No experience, arrogant and lack or compassion. Don’t get me started on the health unit in emergency ???? what a scary experience they have no concept of separation children from adults in there care facility. Why was so much money invested in building a better Emerg with the same bad attitudes and long waits ???? I don’t understand ???

zii butt

Just spent the last week here on medicine floor 3. Wonderful experience overall. Of course, the more talkative very sweet nurses and doctors who try to make you feel as comfortable and secure as possible definitely deserve a shout. Thank you all for being angels in disguise and helping us out during our most difficult moments. We appreciate it very much!!

My wife recently was there for a CT scan. It was less than 10 minutes from the time she walked in the main entrance and back out again. We were totally impressed. Keep up the great work.

Very friendly hard working professional staff. THANK FOR YOUR HELP

To meet with my doctor, who I have an appointment with. I have to wait at least 15 min some times 30 or more because the doctors are ALWAYS late. Yet if im 15 min late the appointment gets canceled? Exuse me?

The nurse that took my blood treated my veins like she was trying to poke a spaghetti noodle with a toothpick... Almost two weeks later and I am still swollen and in a lot of pain from her incompetence. Rude..crass..terrible experience. I'm not letting this go. I came there for help. Not to be further injured cause she is incapable of doing her job properly.

Reception for outpatient mental health are not wearing masks, despite asking me to lean right up against the hole in the glass. I mentioned it and she said "I have one right here," to which I replied, "but you're not wearing it." They still both have no masks on and were laughing at me as i sit twenty feet from them. Strange behaviour from grown women working in a hospital during an outbreak of a respiratory illness. Everyone else has to wear a mask so why dont they?

I had a kidney stone pain so extreme pain and one nurse named Marry did help me as much as she could by taking the pain out from me. Best ever nurses there. God bless this hospital. Hope the owner will tell her about my review here. Thanks. Slawomir S.

About Dr. Andrea A Rowe Hope never get this Dr. again at the Emerg I'm bleeding for a month & heavily for 11 days went to the emergency, whoever I met felt was very helpful and concerned about my condition, except this Dr. She looked at the blood work, and said I'm anaemic, but don't need a blood transfusion. She didn't order for an Ultrasound and also did not gave me an answer why I'm bleeding, treated me as if I am lying to her. WHY SHOOULD I LIE ABOUT MY HEALTH AT THE EMERGECNY????? I said I have chest pain and she thinks it is GAS... That was her answer???? Still bleeding and could not get an appointment with family dr. too because I have to deal with another worst receptionist at (Forbes Park Medical Centre) she said since I did not get an Ultra sound done at the Emerg I won't be in serious condition!!! 1 month bleeding and heavily for 11 days and anaemic!!!! Is'nt that enough for her.... to be a serious patient or I wonder what else these ladies want me to happen!!! I met Dr. Lachman and he was very concerned about my condition and send me to the emergency to get an US done as soon as possible.... So I went there and this was the result..... He was such a wonderful Dr. Still heavily bleeding... went to walkin... get an US... but now I have to wait until Tuesday since they are not open Mon and it is only fri... hope I will be ok until then...... Very sad and frustrated about the Medical systems here......

I had a very upsetting experience in your hospital yesterday, one of your nursing staff unloaded on me unnecessarily, I have never been treated in such a way. I view this as an abuse of power, and completely unnecessary. I understand everyone has a bad day, however she is supposed to be a professional.

Last Wednesday i rushed my son in emergency and all i can say is that their staff are amazing, friendly, knowledgeable and hardworking. While sitting in waiting area i observed that the doctors and nurses attend to someone needed them most. So please be kind and have patience. They just don’t have enough staff.

Samantha Short

I dont even think one star is low enough. Went to the emergency room last night as i felt I was having an asthma attack. When i got there they asked my name told them what was wrong and was literally almost gasping for air mid sentences the nurse didn't even look at me. I was told to sit and wait until they call my name to be triaged. What baffles my mind is how packed the triage room was and how there was ONE triage nurse! The hospital spent millions on renovations when they should be staffing themselves better instead. waited 1 hour and still didn't see anyone, there were probably five people ahead of me still. Safe to say i left and went to another hospital where I was rushed in.

Andy van Koot

I was admitted on July 25/18 for a right hip replacement. The care that I received from preop to discharge was second to none! The staff at CMH were caring, professional, and friendly. My surgeon, Dr. Joyce Daly, gave expert care and took the time to ensure my wife and I understood everything I needed to know on discharge. This was a very positive experience for me

Visiting Hospital was a positive experience from the ER to the fracture clinic. Everyone was very helpful. Special thanks to David in the fracture clinic.

I got to Cambridge memorial at 715 am inserted my debit Visa into parking the lever let me in and I parked upon leaving I assumed I'd insert my card again be automatically charged for my time and be let out however that was not the case 20 minutes later I was told get cash so I did I went to the stand to insert cash and was told I needed a ticket however I was not given one on my arrival I then got told to go to parking services which was closed and then to go to security where I was greeted by a man who clearly thought he was over qualified for his job and asked me 100 questions before finally letting me out of the parking lot 35 minutes later I was able to leave the hospital please update parking and ensure the machines work correctly after l that money was spent what a shame

Almost lost my foot about 2 years ago. Was so busy that I had to sit in a hallway with a little towel covering my giant open wound. (I guess my limb didn't matter) finally got seen and doctor was super nice (some Aussie Cant remember his name but love that guy also he has a nice watch) he stiched me up and a nurse came to put a gauze around my foot, but she did it too tight so I kindly asked her to loosen it and SHE TIGHTED IT EVEN MORE! She also told us to put polysporoin on it and keep it covered at all times but all that did was prolong the wound as it didn't actually heal it but prevented it from healing. Had to wait another week or so to get the stitches removed cause my foot was still I'm so much agony that they couldn't remove them... It hurt.

Worse hospital ever Nurses and doctors dont know how to do their job properly and send you home to die, They mistreat you physically and verbally and the security guys spy on you while youre changing in youre room. Animals are treated better. My story is too long to post here you guys are lucky. But in small details have been assaulted physically by nurse cuz i was sitting in my room to close of my door and been screamed at for going to get myself water because they dont want to get you water or ice so they wanted to kick me out the hospital cuz i went to get myself water instead of asking them (for the zillion time) oh and security guard watching me while changing in camera.

The way my mother was treat was horrific she was mocked neglected and laughed at. There is absolutely no excuse to make my mother feel humiliated and stupid, especially when she had no control of her bowls, and your nurses acted as if is was inconvenience to them and shared it with other nurse as they pass, how they just changed her and how they didn't want to again and act as if it's the worst thing ever. To have her ring the bell for assistance for help to the restroom and someone not come for at least a half hour when she was a fall risk and had orders to stay in bed and no voice to call for help, what do you expect to happen.she was left in own bodily fluids for hours to the point that she needed ointment for diaper rash and that is not ok.People should be treated better then this,Regardless of how she ended up in there,it should not have depicted how she was treated and that's exactly what seemed to be the case. This is unacceptable and quite frankly disgusting, deplorable and down right un ethical. Also the state of the hospital its self for cleanness is disgusting for days the floor was sticky beside her bed, garbage over flowing to the point another patient in the room husband changed it,to gloves, needle caps, tissue and iv lines, urine all over the floor and under the beds just disgusting. Needles to say my mother ended her stay at this hospital still weak needing antibiotics with a hole in her lung because she couldn't handle the neglect, the mocking and looking like a spectacle to all other staff. You guys really need better staff this is unacceptable. No one should feel they need to leave when they clearly still need to be there.

Michael Resendes

WORST HOSPITAL EVER!!!!!! The last time I was there was for my six year old girl. Waited four hours before I snapped on the doctors because they took other patients who were there after us before my little girl. And they asked me what's wrong with her. Are you guys serious? Who's the doctor here you or I. I honestly think people just walk in there put uniforms on and play doctor. Trust me STAY AWAY from this hospital.

Russell Weigel

Staff is extremely rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. Informed Emerg nurse that my partner symptoms were worsening (extreme chest pains) said nurse would be with her shortly, I returned to nursing station 1.5 hours later as no one had checked on her and received attitude from the nurse. The nurse then said someone would bring her meds soon, 1.5 hours later after no meds arrived I further inquired and was told she was not going to be given medication. We are currently on our tenth hour of waiting to see a doctor. Will not return to this hospital even if im half dead.

I've given 1 star just becoz my baby was delivered via csection successfully. I'm still deeply hurt inside becoz of the way myself and my baby was treated at this hospital and like many of the reviews the nurses r rude and u feel like a burden everytime u ask a favor.

My wife is a patient there with either Her 2 or Triple negative breast cancer. We are still waiting on results for Her 2. Either type is chemo so she is receiving chemo. Every day she has very sharp pains. Its getting worse every day. So last night we went to Emerg. She spent 5 hours sitting there with everyone else. Turns out she was sitting in the Covid waiting area for over a hour. Great place for a chemo patient. Daycare said if she ever goes to Emerg she will be seen right away. I guess no one told Emerg. We left after 5 hours at 4 am. There was still 4 ahead of her. She said they hadn't called anyone in in over a hour. It was to unsafe for a chemo patient. New hospital same old incompetence.. You can't have a chemo patient in Emergency waiting room. Especially during a pandemic. Not to mention wheres simple compassion. There is no reason why patients can't have support I would wear whatever the hospital deemed necessary... doesn't my mask protect people from me so why not? Shes going through cancer. Wheres the simple compassion ?

From the pre op appointment and before and after surgery after I found everyone friendly and helpful Staff were very patient with others in the room who had more needs. Quite amazed and thankful . This was my first time in Cambridge hospital . I highly recommend it to anyone in the future. Special thanks to Dr. Gill and all the staff on floor 3B !.

My mom was brought by ambulance to CMH this morning. The emergency care updates was great until 1115. My mom gets anxiety when it comes to situations like the one she was in, and she doesn't always remember what the doctor days as her mind is just all over the place. I called at 1230, spoke with what sounded like an older lady in emerge and explained that I'd like to have an update seeing as my mom had no support with her, and the ladies response was "she's old enough to speak for herself and can understand what's going on" , like seriously how dare you. Complete patient neglect to mental health and I wish I would have gotten her name because a person like that should not be working with others. I get were all stressed with covid, I myself am a Healthcare provider and I would never treat anyone the way this lady did! If your burnt out from your job take a leave don't let your mental health wear out on others that depend on you!

Nurses and Doctors overall attentative and good bedside manner. Felt like I was heard and taken seriously. Had positive experience with all staff (phlebotomy, x ray tech, clerks, house keeping). Have used their emergency (for real problems) and was seen quickly. Have been for appointments as an outpatient and found the volunteers very helpful. Appointments ran close to my scheduled time, better luck if appointment wasn't at the end of the business day. Parking is a little competitive, hopfully this will be fixed with new building.

The emergency room at the hospital is a joke. I came in with stroke symptoms, had to wait 9 hours to be treated and then the ER doctor gave me a list of 5 things that could be wrong, (tumour, cancer, bleed, stroke, concussion) and then wouldn't admit me, give me a referral to get checked out and then sent me home with a dose of tylenol and said if it gets worse in the next three weeks to come back. Are you kidding me.

My mom went in last night with all the signs of a heart attack and they didn't take her seriously she waited with chest pain numb lips swollen abdomen left arm pain trouble breathing hour after hour basically took a nap and then left because she ENOUGH if I could curse at them I would we are never heading there again! If something happens to my mom THIS HOSPITAL AND STAFF ARE TO BLAME!!! I don't know how you look yourselves in the mirror or how you sleep at night

I found this hospital very impersonal and cold. I went into the pre triage emergency area and no one was there to receive/greet me (after I found it). Just signs plastered all over the walls with instructions to read. Who wants to read when you don't feel well? But the nurses were very nice to me when I was finally triaged. Then I had to go to another emergency waiting area to be looked at by a doctor. The trek over there was much tooo long. The pre-triage and emergency waiting areas are located toooo far apart if you are not feeling well. My overall experience is that with the amount of money spent on the renovations of this facility I think the systems in place to manage patients are very insensitive. It is clear no thought was ever considered about planning a sick patient's experience coming to an emergency dept. The highly educated who sit planning in their ivory tower rely on the people who work within their ideologies to make their jacked up system work. Not impressed.

Brandon Drouillard

I took my infant there who was diagnosed with pneumonia and had a high fever, we were classified as urgent but after waiting it took the nurse half hour before she even looked at the file(only one in the basket) we then proceeded to wait almost 2 hours with not one person being admitted. We finally just decided to leave and went to sick kids in Hamilton where we were treated and seen immediately. Very disappointed with the communication and service at this hospital which seems as been on the steady decline for years. Don’t waste your time, make the trip to Kitchener or Hamilton

Yet another missed diagnosis. My daughter was in Saturday with severe abdominal pain sent home saying its probably nothing, has her at a clinic today and she has a bladder infection.

I wouldn't even given them a star but had to share my story there. About a month ago my youngest one (who was 20 months) hurt his big toe real bad... Triage was good but the ER was horrible. He was screaming in pain. By the time we got in he was still screaming in pain. One nurse came in asked what happened then left. About 25 more minutes of him screaming even more another nurse came in and said they where weighing him to give him something for the pain. Came to weigh him but never returned. Finally seen a Dr after about 2.5 hrs of him screaming sent him for xrays. Waited another 1.5 to tell us it wasn't broken. 5 hrs waiting.... Could not believe it. A man was called and he said that my son could go and the nurse told him that his chest infection is more important then a possible broken toe of an almost 2 yr old.... Never again going back there...

AJ Miziolek

People complain too much about this hospital and hold unrealistic expectations. Staff is great. The new side is beautiful

Stacy Slaytor-Free

I have been brought to thus hospital since last June 2016 with 2-3 cardiac arrest episodes from hypoglycemia with my Type 1 diabetes I have now had for 25 years and the first time I was pregnant with my second baby and all the nurses took EXCELLENT care of me and my unborn child checking to make sure all was ok all the E.R physicians are excellent, thorough and quick. They have tended to both my children (4 & now 1) with a urinary tract infection and a dog attack in the E.R and wow! They were all fabulous. My youngest and myself have been admitted and they're all fabulous from the PSW'S to the Nursing staff to the lab workers! (I am a lab tech & assistant myself and would love to work here!) And I see the Diabetes Clinic and let me tell you; this is the best Diabetes Clinic around. Karen and Nancy and all the staff are nice, supportive, make time for you and you never feel alone dealing with this disease. I have seen many diabetes clinics including McMaster Hospital and this one far surpasses any clinic I have attended. These women and all staff should be commended for all the work and help given to patients. Both my daughters healed wonderfully from their injuries and ailments thanks to these doctors and staff member. Thank you CMH! The hospital will be beautiful when it is done!! Some of the best staff of ANY hospital in the area right down to the wonderful gift shop staff, volunteers and information staff. You're my closest hospital and I couldn't be happier after all that we had happen in 2016 and continue to use this facility.

I think, government forgot this hospital. There is not enough doctor and nurse to take care of the people. Such a poor quality! Also, I can't remember how many times they diagnosed everything wrong with me and it is still making me scare of them when you don't have an other choice to go to somewhere else. I am so sorry tell you that but it is what it is... please hear us! #ministryofhealthontario

I have been a patient of the pain clinic for years and they have gone from 5 stars to one. My cycle was perfect and managing my pain the best it has been since I became ill. Now I got pushed from 3 weeks to 4, then after one cycle of that, now it's 5 . Once my cycle got delayed the effectiveness of the treatment has been effected negatively. I called to get in earlier due to the fact that I got no relief and was told a hard no, even though I can't get out of bed and my appointment is a month away. They used to care about patients now I'm just a number . I've even caught them lying to my face. I was told my appointment had to be a week later because of a conference, but then found out the conference was 2 weeks earlier. And my current appointment is 3 weeks after Easter, "to make up for easter". Feeling stuck and like they don't care about patients health at all!

Krista Tomlinson

Was in emergency for a bit, felt very comfortable and it is very safe and clean was very organized...Good job Cambridge!!!!

Was in car accident morning of Dec 4.. I declined going to hospital after hearing the two ambulance men and fire dept discussing how busy the ER was and the amount of overdoses happening. I did have neck pain and I had a headache after the impact. The pain has since gotten worse. I was watching the wait times all day on Dec 5 with it being 5+ hours. This morning I wake up to severe head pain plus pain in other areas. I check the wait times, 2 hours. Perfect drive down here, the nurse took my vitals and reasons as to why I came to ER. Never once did she make eye contact. That was at 4:44am. Here it is at 5:57am and still not registered. Wait times are still showing 2 hrs treating 2, 4 waiting. So now I have figured out that once they register you that’s when the wait times begin. Not when they take your vitals. Pretty sneaky and pathetic! Certainly not impressed. I’ve been to emerge before and have never been treated like this. Such a huge disappointment!

Maclean Shanks

Came to the hospital July 20th around 10am, was diagnosed with acute appendicitis. It was a long day but the surgery was completed and i was out the door around 7pm. I found the nurses friendly and helpful, my surgeon was informative. I was asked by many nurses if i had any questions before surgery. All of these people have an extremely hard and stressful job. Thank you for everything you doctors and nurses do! I'm sure you don't hear thank you enough.

S C

Be prepared for a 10+ hour wait in the ER. Horrible hospital with only 1 doctor working. I won’t ever go back.

Aimee Balkissoon

The worst wait times in the ER. Hire more staff.

Bernice Vollebregt

On Monday August 2 I was with my daughter in-law who had just given birth to her son. He was jaundice and a new nurse named Kim came into our room at 6 am to start a new shift. She rushed the incubator in and very roughly put the sweet newborn baby into the incubator. He would not stop crying. I then paged her and explained that my daughter in-law wished to comfort him and then put him back in. She allowed it but was not happy and quite rude. My sweet grandson then went back into the incubator calmly. My daughter in-law's motherly instinct was correct and I was so proud of her. Later that day this nurse Kim was helpful with breastfeeding and helping them put the baby into the car seat correctly. My daughter in-law did not want to leave the hospital angry with this nurse. She thanked her and even hugged her. I was very proud of my daughter in-law. I do feel new mothers need comfort too and babies need to be treated with care and respect. This nurse was filling in and has 30 years experience however the care she showed my daughter in-law and her newborn son could have been much better. (All other nurses and doctors have been amazing. It was just this one nurse Kim.)

Tricia Bales

I have been waiting here for 15 hours with chest pain. When I came in it said there was a 4.5 hour wait! I have just watched the dr sit at a computer for an hour and a half. There are 2 Dr's here and both spend more time sitting at the computer than they do seeing patients. This is ridiculous. I haven't slept in over 30 hours because I have been waiting here...and it looks like 15 hours isn't enough!! If the drs spent as much time with patients as they do the computers people would move through the emerg a whole lot faster!! The nurses are pretty amazing I do have to add.

Barry May

Very bad service and no compassion for people.

One of the worst possible Hospital management in Ontario. Absolutely no regard for any punctuality on booked appointments. Slow, need basic customer service training and time management. I wish I could give them zero.

Building is old and dingy...very unpleasantly institutional but all staff were extremely helpful, friendly and courteous. We didn't even have to ask for help with directions, staff nearby would just ask if we needed help ..very nice.

Attended Cambridge memorial today for a hernia surgury. I guess I expected something I should not have with socialized treatment. I don't call it healthcare because it is not. Americans have healthcare, in Canada we have government health treatment. There is no care. While waiting nervous for surgury you will be housed in a big communal environment with dozens of other people and bed sheets hung from the ceiling in replacement of actual drywall or doors. It resembles something only slightly better then a red cross medical tent in a refugee camp. The recovery room I was told would be yet another communal public environment as you wake up from anesthesia. This was an assembly line for fixing humans. It was not care. It was just the bare minimum of getting it done. I left before getting the surgury. I'm not participating in a scheme where the government steals half of my money while claiming I get free healthcare and then deliver a subpar product. Leave my money alone and allow private healthcare in this country and I'll shop around for the best product. I want the hospital to have to perform for my money not have a bottomless pit of stolen money from the public tax scheme. It's an outrage that our federal government has ensured equal suffering under this Soviet style health system and not allowed for free market care to come in. What do you ship your packages with? Fed ex. Or Canada post? I use fed ex. It's free market and very much better then the government run disaster that is Canada post. My packages get there faster. Cheaper. Better. No lazy government employees on strike.

Worst experience ever!!! Not just this time but every time I have to come into this place. The wait is horrendous, most staff are rude and mean. For example the nurse was belittling and yelling at my son cause he couldn't swallow pills. Then there's the doctor who was more concerned on hitting on the nurses then seeing the patients. If you have to come bring lots of reading to do. Average wait time is 8+ hours.

This hospital's ER has zero regard for anyone's health or well-being. It is clear they aren't provided with the equipment their staff requires which compounds the issues. Expect to wait a minimum of 8 hours, or triple their stated wait time. You are better off to drive hours away from this place just to be seen.

Very helpful and cooperative staff, including doctors nurses front office and even volunteers ????‍♀️. I am really grateful ???? to all for showering us with that much needed care! Thank you so much!!

We just got home from our first visit/procedure at the hospital and it was an excellent experience. My husband had an endoscopy and colonoscopy at the Day Surgery. All staff members were extremely professional, kind and caring from the orderly who walked me to the right location, the caring nurses and knowledgeable doctors.

Chris Spring

At the moment CMH has 419 reviews and a flashy website. According the website says CMH is a great place with lots of great people doing really great things. Why is it then that according to the reviews it scores a 2.5? The reason is actually pretty clear. The hospital is not at all what it espouses to be on its webiste. If it was, the website would include only one line. Stay away. This place is toxic.

Just wanted to say Thankyou to the nurses and Dr Adams in the emerg department that helped my daughter when she was having trouble breathing on Wednesday ...It was very busy but they never made us feel like they were in a rush to get us in and out... The nurses never stopped moving for one minute!! Even with the excitement of a code white everyone kept their composure .. Dr Adams was very compassionate and had a great sense of humour.. even though he thinks rats are “yucky” .. Thankyou everyone for being there., Sharon Sippel

I give a one because I've been too many hospitals across this country and although the staff I find are not too bad. The WAIT time oh my goodness.. I've been at 8 am on a Tuesday.. 10 am on a sat ... 10 pm on a Wednesday.. but day or time shift change or not the wait never seems to change... alot of money has been spent on this hospital and donated. The Emergency department needs to be worked on. Most of my friends and family would much rather drive to other hospitals in the K-W region.. Also... this hospital is just dark, outdated, confusing and gloomy.

Nancy Sunshine

The wait is terrible!

Absolutley disgusted in this place. We were in the birthing unit for over 9 hours. And were told that we needed a key to access the doors for in and out priveleges which cost ($20). When we went to get one we were told there were "none left"... So for the past 3 hours we have been waving down nurses for someone to let us in to tend to our family member giving birth. Eventually one of the bitchy nurses got upset with us asking her to many times that she deicded to ask us to leave. This place has turned my stomach and i will never be back here again! Your staff and the way you run this hospital makes me sick to my stomach.

I had a nose surgery done in day surgery. The day B4 a lot of tests were run registration< BP > ekg> xrays>blood test >pulse all went seamlessly and no waiting. The day I had the surgery an IV was started lots of warm blankets and a caring nursing staff. The anesth Dr checked on me twice in post-op. I see there are a lot of bad reviews about this hospital that was not the case for me. I would give my care and attention 5plus stars

For six days in a row I had to go to emergency for a needle and pills. At no time was I pick on or ignored. Such a beautiful and caring staff. God bless.

Upon arrival, I immediately told the staff that I was having severe chest pains, trouble breathing and felt like I was going to pass out (I have a history of passing out and having convulsions). They said someone will see me shortly. No one did. Meanwhile another patient arrives an hour after me, having the same symptoms as me and was immediately seen and taken to the doctor right away. I was beyond shocked by what I witnessed. They took a patient who was behaving like a ridiculous drama queen yet wouldn't take me seriously even though I had to kneel on the floor for hours due to the chest pain and dizziness. At one point, there was only one nurse available when everyone else left. When the new shift came in, they kept seeing many patients that arrived after me with far less issues and continued to deliberately ignore me. I was in tears and in a lot of pain and struggling to maintain my composure. I was shaking so much and feeling extremely faint that I had to ask for a blanket. Only one nurse got one for me while the others gave me a very rude look and told me to go sit down. I tried to explain to them, repeatedly, that I have a history of passing out and convulsions, yet they refused to see me. Then the nurse had the gall to wheel that same "chest pain" patient who was admitted right away, past me a few hours later wearing a smug grin on her face and I had yet to be assessed by a nurse. I was appalled and shocked by their unprofessional behaviour towards me. By the time I saw the nurse, I was treated very coldly and told to give them a urine sample, and needed some more tests. After I gave them the urine, I was told to sit down, I NEVER had an ECG nor any bloodwork (the second nurse showed me the paperwork which said I needed those done). By the time I saw the doctor, I was feeling very sick and faint and it was after 10:30 pm (I had been there since 3:30 pm). He did a chest x-ray, gave me Zofran and told me to go home. Paramedics ended up taking me back to the ER the next day due to even more severe symptoms and agonizing pain that required being on IV narcotics or the rest of the day. I never should have been deliberately ignored like that, especially with chest pains, which is an urgent and priority symptom that requires the patient to be seen promptly. I ended up getting much, much worse and in more severe pain the nest day as a result of their lack of care and refusing to follow the protocol that is CLEARLY listed on their website. SHAME ON YOU FOR DELIBERATELY IGNORING DISABLED PATIENTS!!!!

Debbie Sewell

Had a very long day there last Friday with long delays. Turned into a 12 hour stay. All staff there are kind, caring and attentive. Thanks to all.

Just don't waste your time, drive 40min south to Brantford if you need medical attention. The hospital is understaffed, unprofessional andd ER nurses are not helpful, not willing to help and are unaware of the patients rights. I had a terrible abdominal pain that was getting worse the longer I sat, yet I had to sit for 6hours in the waiting room that there was no doctor to service and was told it may be few more hours. When i requested a bed they told me they didn't have any, yet I passed 8 empty beds on my way out. (for 6 hours no one called anyone from the waiting room and that included one small child with an allergic reaction and one person with a worsening eye condition that was loosing their eye sight). Apparently there was number of serious car collisions and doctor was 'saving lives' YET no on-call doctor arrived. I really hope that this one doctor that Cambridge hospital has to offer saved all of them that night.

Mike Kane

Where nurses go to work so they can read books and play on their games while patients whatbfor hours on end because one Dr is on at night. Just to be clear, this is not the nurses fault, they do what they can, but for pity sake, hire more drs and less nurses so people get the help they need.10 hrs of waiting and left because of no end in sight. One person with a broken foot was there for 7 with no end in sight. Instead of a beautiful new building how about a plainer building, less nurses and more drs that can actually help people.

Shannon Paulitzki

Been sitting here now for 8.5 hrs. Before seeing a doctor or getting any answers to my chest pain. I understand only one doctor on but certainly is not worth the wait when other hospitals are closer and faster.

Stephanie pye

They were great with both my mom and dad recently!!

If my husband hadn't driven me to the hospital and I opened up my eyes when I got to triage I would have thought I was in a 3rd. world hospital . Before anyone sees you you have to tell the volunteer in front of everyone what your problem is.Only 1 person processing people with only 2 people before me and after 1 hour wait there finally seen. Down to emerg we go, the 2 people in front of me were not in the sitting room and only 3 others there so I thought this should be OK. Well after 1 hour wait there someone finally calls you into emerg dept. where you are seated in a row against the wall. There must of been 9 to 12 people sitting there and the 2 people that were ahead of me in triage were also sitting there. A nurse or someone comes over and asks what your problem is, once again you have to make a public announcement of your issues, I guess CMH no longer values people's privacy or dignity. After 1 more hours sitting there and of the 9 to 12 there still there I left. When you are not feeling well and have issues you shouldn't have to do that. Why not leave the people out in the sitting room instead of sitting along the wall in emerg like cattle. Too bad it's the only hospital in Cambridge as it is not a good reflection of a city this size. Next time I will be going somewhere else.

Cambridge Memorial Hospital is not a terrible hospital, but it is a disappointing one. That it is Cambridge's one hospital for emergency medical care means that its services are very important to the city, and you will, for the most part, receive adequate care here. The ER waiting area is a tad dirty, and much of the old building is run down. Wait times are, usually, quite reasonable; your mileage may vary, though. The doctors are often helpful, but the nurses can seem a bit distracted. One thing you might notice is that gossip and chit-chat among staff is rampant at CMH, and some of it is pretty distasteful. Privacy is virtually non-existent at this hospital. In addition, the (ostensibly, at least) growing security apparatus around the hospital seems a little silly and disproportionate to whatever "threat" might be posed by the community. All in all, though, things generally work out when you visit Cambridge Memorial Hospital. There is a big "however", however, because psychiatric services at CMH can leave much to be desired. I have personally experienced what I consider to have been the weaponization of security, profiling, harassment, and other undue and unfair treatment by hospital staff. I have no confidence in CMH's Patient Experience Office to tackle this, but I know I am not alone in these experiences. This hospital has some serious prejudices that it needs to tackle institutionally, and particular members of its staff are in dire need of some self-reflection. If you are coming to Cambridge Memorial Hospital for an emergency mental health issue, I recommend you bring friends or family, if you're able. Try taking notes of your experience at the hospital, too, and be very much prepared to advocate for yourself.

I think ER in Kabul offers better service and a shorter wait times plus $12.25 parking fee was a nice slap in the face. God, don't even know where to go anymore family doctor takes one day to get a hold of on the phone then 8 weeks wait time for a non emergency appointment yet same doctor is accepting new patients, walk in clinic went there three times doctor googles up symptoms and all three times he was wrong. If it was me I don't care but its my child with severe allergic rash that's getting worst yet its classified as a non emergency and she can wait for 6hrs yet three check ins, dozen nurses, volunteers, EMS, Security and Police walking around with coffee in their hands? Three words disgusting, sad and inhumane. Dear Mr. Stephan Thank you for your response I hope you saved many lives and limbs that day, as a matter of fact looking at the negative reviews over the years compared to wait times statistically speaking I would say that you saved the lives and limbs of half the population of Cambridge, I will keep in mind to amputate a limb next time before visiting ER. P.S. taxpayers just paid for the new building and the parking lot so you should at least have a decency to select non-profit parking service provider and perhaps same with the wending machine, charging $12.25 for the parking and $2.25 for the bottle of water is so upsetting. When I was there was 52 people waiting lets say 200 per day visit ER that is $73,000 per month in parking lot revenue, does it cost that much to maintain brand new parking lot?.... Money grab!!! Also implement the policy to stop public employees e.g. EMS, Police, Security, Nurses from loitering, snacking, chatting and having a good time in face of sick patients who are waiting for 8hrs.

I always liked this hospital and in fact the doctors here are great and have taken care of me and my family. However, I am surprised that Cambridge Mem is hiring ppl at the front desk who have no manners and professionalism when interacting with patient. Feb 18th, 1:58 AM. The guy at the reception at emergency dept just yelled when asked him a question. Perhaps he would have heard better if he didn't have his headphones on ..

Thank you cmh for looking after our son after our horrible experience with GRH. The doctor and the nurses went above and beyond for our baby. Dr. Martinez is excellent not only to our baby but to us as well. The nurses in the nursery are amazing and kind I can't say enough great things about them.

Ashley Hounsell

It has always been horrible it is so dirty there and any time I have had to go with my children it has always been a 7 hour process just waiting to see a doctor and when I do all I always get is I don't know what is wrong if anything else happens to bring my child back worst hospital ever

Birthing unit and postpartum staff are world class.

My wife and I welcomed our baby girl at the Cambridge memorial hospital obstetrics and we cannot say enough good things about the nurses and doctors in that unit. Dr. Green, Dr Cvetic, and Dr Martinez were extremely helpful and caring. The nurses who looked after us, and our baby in the nursery ,were extremely responsive, helpful and very knowledgeable; especially to us as first time parents. We cannot thank you guys enough and we hope you get the credit you deserve! Thank you again from Alan, Amanda and Abigail

Spent there 6 or 7 hours yesterday. Service was great. It took a while but ER was fully loaded and they also brought few people with trauma. Working there is very demanding job. Keep it up!

Faheem Kurashi

The worst hospital in all of Canada for sure. The nurses that work here are mean, rude and very disrespectful towards people trying to seek treatment. The people that work here are paid a reasonable pay and they act like they are being firved to work. Also, the patient relations department is a huge joke. A shame how these people are even allowed to operate. Disgusting.

Kristina Vickery

So far I’ve been twice. Emerge and fracture clinic. I had ankle surgery after I had fractured my ankle. They surprisingly got me in so quickly and I was so terrified as it was my first ever procedure. The staff was so sweet & kind holding my hand. Second visit at fracture clinic went well. Again, staff was terrific... all but one. The individual who applied my second cast was a little rough with my leg & foot - I almost reminded her that my ankle was indeed broken lol. Otherwise, I don’t seem to understand these horrible reviews!

Brittney Pope

Waited here for a total of 8 hrs!! The elderly are treated so poorly that even my 11 year old wanted to help a lady that was literally falling out of her wheel chair and the nurses just watch from the desk and continue to sit!!! They need to make some serious changes around there!

Andy Wilson

Lost my blood work and urine test results pushed my appointments back months while I'm unable to work/live properly.

I came to ER on Feb. 7 with fractured wrist. The total time was 7 hours. I am thankful for all of the staff who cared for me; the nurse, Stephanie P. who did most of my care was extremely competent, compassionate and friendly. On Feb. 10, I had surgery to repair my wrist; again, I was grateful for the Surgical Day Care staff, OR staff, Recovery Room staff, Dr. Klassen and Dr. Pook, and the excellent care they provided.

My 19 months old son was really sick with a cold and fever. The staff in this hospital unfortunately treat the patients with disrespect. We waited for long hours and everyone that came after us went in and they never called my sons name. When I asked the staff they said we called his name..where were you? My husband and I were sitting in the waiting room and they never called at all. She said ok wait a bit more and then we will call him and then they go and call more patients name and they never called him. My son got really sick and we had to leave to go to another hospital. We told them we were leaving to go to another hospital but they don’t care because they already charged the Health card.

John Cholewa

A great Hospital and staff, my recent unexpected stay there was very pleasant, short and I was extremely well looked after, from there I was sent to St. Mary's in Kitchener. I must thank the EMER..Room Doctors and Nurses at Cambridge that looked after me, I do not think that I could have received better care anywhere else . Again Thank You very much as I am still alive and breathing !

Theres nothing to like about this place wait times are ridicolous, was the only one here and 3 hrs later still nothin, ask for any information and no one has a clue what to tell you, not enough doctors but plenty of ppl standing around tlkin about bs and not lookin after paitents worst experiance with this hospital i highly recommend not coming here or bring enough entertainment to last u at least 10 hrs, a 2 minute in and out will take u hours

Katherine Lennox is employed by this hospital in the mental health department, she was assigned to me. I almost lost my life because of her. She told me that I would end up homeless and then when she was taking heat for my care she lied and said things that aren't true to cover herself. Not only did this person tell me I would end up homeless, she had tears in her eyes and got to attached. We are suing the mental health department for this. She needs to be removed immediately, before more people loose their lives.

my best friend was just in this hospital this past week with her daughter as she was a patient , she was there for almost 3 days herself and was told she could got for smokes as she is a smoker that she was thirsty and didnt bring her much at all and she got dehydrated brought her disgusting food and treated her like complete trash told her she couldnt even go home to shower and change her clothes and go check in with the babysitter that was watching her 3 year old daughter at home cause she was told she could not bring her other daughter as she was sick, as well as she was told she had to be vaccinated to be able to stay with her daughter when shes not so they were breaking the law but telling her she couldnt leave considering she was not vaccinated, Something needs to be done about the expirence my bestfriend had as she had the worst expirence here wiith her daughter and is choosing to if something ever happens again taking her kids to a hospital further away the nurse responsible her name is Cheryl from the 4th Floor, something needs to be done as this was unessacary

John

At the ER they triage, the people who need more urgent care get it first it is not first come first serve, if someone needs help to live more than you they go first even if you where there before them.I watched a guy walk into the emergency room with is son, go up to reception(next to a sign saying they cannot give wait estimates out) and demand "how long of a wait?" She replied with "im sorry sir I really can't say" and he proceeded to curse and swear at her comment how this hospital is an embarrassment while his son is complaining of a minor sports injury when a couple car accident victims just went in. These people do their jobs to the best of their ability and deserve far more respect than they get. They have never been anything but kind and respectful and have always succeeded in helping resolve my issues.

It's the worst place to go when you have an emergency. The wait times are horrible

Niheer Ravaliya

My wife gave birth to our daugther here on May 18th, 2017. We are both from Guelph and we are so happy with the experience here and the staff. Especially the staff. All the Registered Nurses and both the Doctors that helped us were amazing. We both have very bad experiences with Guelph General Hospital and the staff there and we did not want to go there for the birth of our Daughter. We're so happy with the service and staff, please keep it up.

Would rather make patients sick by forcing mask policies that arent effective or supported by science than treat their patients to the best of their abilities. Also trying to enforce vaccines policies for a fake vaccine that doesnt prevent any spread of covid what so ever.

Pardip Brar

This is a bit of an older hospital, but great volunteers, nurses, and doctors. Amazing hospital.

Andy Prior

Not a good place filled with mean angry nurses. There always fed up, like they dont know they work in a hospital! Waited 8 hours which is fine, there was a whole 8 people in front of me and probaly a few emergencies so thats ok. However, im not ok with the tone and downtalking Nurses that run this place. Dont like your well paying job then QUIT. And after 8 hours was told they didnt have access to an ultrasound machine... Not a doc but that seems pretty important in a hospital, doc was clearly lying. REMEMBER construction workers work late to build your roads and skip lunches, restaurant employees bust their behind when there full... Why not a hospital??? When did curing and helping the sick become something we could put off? Doctors dont care because there family get hooked up real nice. I watched a nurse whose son sprained or hurt his wrist walk in an get x rays before alot of other people. Didnt even check in just said hi i gotta see my mom, and left one hour later with a cast. The guy next to me just needed stitches to stop his finger from bleeding and he was still waiting. Place seriously needs to be evaluated!!!! Multiple nurses should be fired!!! God forbid we show them there replacable.

Never had a good experience at this hospital worst one I’ve been to. The ER is awful, ridiculously long wait times with no helpful outcome. Doctors are never on time for appointments. Honesty you’d be better going to a different hospital then here the level of care for patients here is quite disappointed from my experience.

Wish it were possible to give 0 stars. I've lived in Cambridge my entire life and absolutely hate going to this hospital. First time when my father passed away (I was a young kid mind you) they didn't bother to remove anything from him when we went to say our goodbyes. They were pushy and rude when we were all mourning our Dad and didn't give us any privacy either. Second time, I come in with extremely swollen limbs and face and in excruciating pain and they didn't do anything for me.They pretty much said oh it COULD be this, go on your way now. No meds, nothing. THIRD TIME, I had no choice to go to them as my Dr referred me to a psychiatrist there. She was rude, judgemental and I left feeling even worse than I did coming in to the appointment. The therapist I was set up with is nice, but never returns phone calls if I need to reschedule. Trying to get through to her voicemail to make arrangements is also a nightmare and the receptionists are extremely rude. I've had countless other terrible experiences, but my stories would fill the entire review section. Oh, and the fact you charge $12 for parking is ridiculous. No one asked for a new fancy hospital. Save yourself the headache and just drive 30 mins to Woodstock Hopsital. Hardly any wait times and the staff are actually compassionate.

Saw my doctor beginning of the week, diagnosed with staph infection in my right leg. (On antibiotics) I was also not feeling well headache/chills 2 days prior to the visit. My doctor told me to go to emergency right away if i get a fever/chills headache or muscle aches again. Well i felt sick yet again. I got to emergency I told the triage Nurse I had staph and i was there cause i now have a fever/chills muscle aches and my doctor told me to come to emergency. Well i guess its not an emergency. I waited almost 4 hours than left. There were only 4-5 people in the waiting area when i got there but about 6-7 people showed up in the last 2 hours I was there and every single one of them got taken before me. I got angry and left. Worst ER ever.... can't believe our tax dollars pays for this

Went in to see my pregnant sister in law in the maternity ward and the nurse at the front desk was extremely rude and condescending towards every person who walked through. Honestly have never seen anything like it before. So unnecessary and unpleasant. Now i understand what everyone means when they say cambridge memorial is the worst.

This hospital is an absolute disaster that I don't even know where to begin. First thing when you arrive, you'll pretty much have to announce to everyone in the room why you need to see a dr when the volunteer/nurse asks you. Then you will wait in triage while nurses laugh and joke around with eachother instead of doing their job. Next you will have to take your own chart to the emergency department (which is a long way if you're in pain). The emergency department I can only describe as what I would imagine a hospital in a 3rd world country would look like. Not enough chairs for patients. Sick and injured people either standing or sitting on the filthy floor waiting for a chair. Multiple times they leave people who are violently ill and vomitting to throw up in a cardboard bowl or bag in plain view of the entire waiting room. One time there were 3 people vomiting non-stop. Yet they will give their first available bed to the pain-free, hyperactive child who has a runny nose. If you manage to stick around 6 hours for a bed, you'll wait another 2 hours in a room to see the Dr. Who will try to get you out of the hospital as soon as possible, as long as you're not actively dying when he examines you. You may be sent to come back to the Hospital the next day and wait another 6 hours for an ultrasound because for some reason this hospital doesn't have a 24 hour ultrasound department. This hospital has been under renovation for what feels like many years, and doesn't look like it will be completed anytime soon. All that money spent, and they can't even bother to put some more chairs the waiting room. This is probably the worst hospital in the province.

R W

My experience with the MRI scheduling staff could not be better. Extremely helpful and beyond nice.

Johnny Guiney

To be honest, I'm being generous giving them even one star. Worst work environment I've ever been around hands down.

Kristina Finbow

The entrance to this hospital is in a very odd and unusual place which is at the back. The entrance is self is very reminiscent of a back service door. There is a long ramp that l the l Once inside you walk into a hub of activity as the Tim Hortons and gift shop. It is a good vibe. the two times we have been to that hospital we were surprised at how happy and kind and helpful everyone is there we didn't come across one grumpy nurse or attendance or a person mopping the floor. You feel like you're going to have good care and in fact you do.

Jaclyn MacGillivary

I am utterly disgusted with the lack of compassion this hospital has during these hard times. I understand that things are different with Covid, and originally they made us believe that they would keep us informed on my father's condition... That was a huge lie! When he was in ICU, we were at least able to get through to a nurse to find out how he was doing. They moved him to a ward ( without telling his wife or kids what room he's in) Now, we have been calling for the last 2 days, and been rushed off the phone by nurses, who promise to call us back.. None of which have. My mom ( and all who know my dad) are very worried about how he's doing, but not one person has got back to us. We have several concerns about his condition, but can't express them to anyone. I just can't believe that while patients and families are going through this, not one single person there cares. I highly urge anyone who can help it, to go to any other hospital.

Cindy Burrows

The staff at CMH are wonderful! Great service and great care.

Went here for a medical emergency and got there around 1:20pm (approx) . Was registered in a 2 step process and then I had my chest xray done in a quick timeframe. (Approx an hr and a bit) I was impressed. The staff was great and it seemed that everything was going well until the wait for the blood work. At around 5pm I had it done and results weren't ready when I saw the Doctor the first time. I then had wait another 2 hrs to get results. Personally, if I had it done after my xray I would've been able to leave 2 hrs earlier. What I found odd was how do you get a proper diagnosis if a full blood profile isn't done. Apparently they don't do that there. Or maybe it was the time frame. So now I have to see my family Dr to get that done. I left the hospital around 7:10 pm. Thank you to the staff and Drs. It was a busy night and they're doing the best that they can.

Lyn Ne

Was brought into Emerg couple weeks ago around 6pm. At 1am I was admitted to 5th floor medical wing. Nurses and technicians in both areas went above and beyond --- those girls and guys are run off their feet, but always kind and considerate. The doctors, not so much and bedside manners wellllll. ....... As for the food -- we'll leave that for another day too.

Sandra Griffin

The emergency section of this hospital is a joke! I thought the new wing would provide organized and caring staff, I was extremely disappointed. There is no organization, the staff are not knowledgeable and the doctor was so rude. Dr. Susan Cooke, she laughed at my husband's extreme pain and told him that he wasn't an emergency. I'd guess 80 percent of the people there were non emergencies, but there they were hoping for some relief to whatever situation they were experiencing. It was a 5 hour wait. Why didn't the triage practioner tell us that it was a non emergency? We wouldn't of wasted our time and theirs. It was a horrible experience. From the conversations I had with others it is a horrible experience for all. Avoid if possible!

Nicole Lewis

If i could rate 0 stars i would. I brought my 18 month old in because she coulsnt keep any food down and had a recent fall and bumper her head. after triage i wsited 2 hours and no one came to look at her when the whole er waiting rooms were empty as were the treatment rooms so i left.

I had the best emergency experience I have ever had yesterday at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. It was a long wait, they were very busy, but even after spending almost 6h at the hospital with a 13month old I left in good spirits and felt great about my experience. The nurse who did our initial screening was caring and very kind, I needed additional help with collecting a sample and he came to assist very quickly and politely. The doctor who we saw took the time to explain our options and discuss treatment plans, I really appreciate being informed about my child's health. The nurse who followed up after to deliver medication and do more testing was also incredibly kind and friendly, and went above and beyond to try to make it a good experience for my little one. All three staff members were so gentle and interacted so wonderfully with my daughter. I was blown away.

mitchell cabral

The worst hospital ever my average wait time when I come here is 5 hours to just be brought in the room to get checked out. I have came here after a car accident and it took 8 hours to get in the nurses are not nice people and very unfocused BETTER OFF DRIVING TO HAMILTON I’ve never left a review on any web site but this place shouldn’t exist

I had to take my mom today to the ER at CMH and I was dreading it. I had heard so often of the 5 or more hours waiting times and was not looking forward to it and I was concerned about how the wait would be on my 83 year old mother. To my surprise we were out of there in 2 1/2 hours just as the waiting time clock said the wait was. I cannot say enough about how everyone was from triage Leanne, Barb through to the amazing Dr. Eugenio. He was so kind and gentle with mom and put her right at ease. Thank you Dr. Eugenio and to the rest of the staff we came in contact with through this whole process. We always hear about the bad at CMH and from us something good.

Karen Little

If you are sick or in need of emergency care, DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. the incompetence's of the "so called" medically trained staff are epic. Please, if you are in need of care that requires more than a first-aider, seek your medical attention elsewhere ....I wouldn't have given any stars but had to to post this. I hope it helps ...

Luke

Waited for 7.5 hours on a Tuesday night. The doctor was very thorough and discussed many options with me, forwarded all info to family doc, ensured a follow-up. The nurses are clearly overworked and can be snappy with the patients, especially with the long wait times. Avoid this ER room at all costs - it's better to drive to Hamilton. I also overheard some very unprofessional comments being made by paramedics and receiving nurses about someone who was handcuffed to her bed (likely psychiatric emerg). Not great bedside manner. Many nurses promised to follow up with me and then walked away and did not come back.

Andy Kan

Worst experience… Bad service , hours of wait for even a simple help needed ….!!!! Patient could die while he is waiting in this Slaughterhouse of a hospital And we have our Goverment to thank for this

I wish the hospital will do something about wait times. Came with my wife experiencing severe headace and vomiting. Atleast provide a comfortable place where pt can atleast rest. Sitting here with my wife in pain and my special need daughter for more than 3 hours.

My sister was at this hospital today, for minor surgery and 3 people asked for her and wanted to know if she was ok, 3 different time's the receptionist gave 3 different answers, they said she was discharged at around 6:00pm and then said she wasn't there and then got her name wrong and then finally found her after 20 minutes later, but later on in the evening around 8:30pm her fiance received the same treatment they couldn't find her in the hospital for 20 minutes and told him she wasn't there, I don't know what's going on in this hospital but they have no idea what's going on, but I wouldn't recommend going there to anyone, by the time they find your loved one it might be too late.

Only 5 handicapped parking spaces near emerg meanwhile usually 5 or 6 open spaces for on duty Doctors. Guess you have to drive a BMW in order to get a spot.

I had to come in for an emergency appendectomy, the nurses were amazing and very accommodating given the amount of pain I was in. All the staff was friendly and very helpful, the surgeon was very informative and did a great job, I'd like to say thank you to the entire staff at cmh for their great work and fixing my problem! :)

Another day at Cambridge Memorial 30 minute wait to register for my wifes biopsy......... Had alot of experiences over the last 3 years at this hospital from the birth of my child to my wifes debilitating back injury and her subsequent bout with cancer. During this time we have had to call ambulances on multiple occasions when my wifes injury would flare up and she would fall to the floor unable to move after arriving at the hospital and waiting hours in emergency only to have the doctors call my wife a drug addict and refuse to actually try and help her. 3 seperate times as new parents we were inclined to take our daughter in cause we were worried all 3 times we waited 6 hours only to leave without even seeing a doctor and just taking her to the pediatrician who would always see us same day. The oncology dept is the only area of the hospital that knows what they're doing. They were great with my wife and guess what the hospital got money from the government and they used it mostly on upgrading the aesthetics of the place and didnt give any money to oncology and actually forced nurses into retirement to save costs. So truly if you have the means to avoid this hospital please do. You will receive sub par care from nurses who dont care and doctors who just want you to leave.

I got hit by a car , made to pay ambulance bill , sat for 7 hours i told him my elbow may be fractured so I went for 2 xrays and a MRI and no info on what was wrong was confused as I was ran around and now a month later still can't stretch my arm out fully , I recommend dying in a hole before coming here as it would be 10 time more quicker and probably more entertaining , being rude aside this place is a clown circus , and I hate saying this about a "hospital" take your 45$ bill and feel free to call me back with my updates , working been great with the pain got all paperwork any everything super upset that my arm will be permanent due to lazy work ... Have a good day

Abusive staff. Dr. didn't treat broken arm of 4 year old boy no matter how much we begged him.

My mom was in this Hospital, she is 89 year old and she has parkinson disease. The nurse brings her the food and leave on the table no one helped her. With her disease, she can't eat herself without help and she need help to go to washroom and to sit in the chair but to get this help she had to wait so long. I called and spoke to the public relation person but was pointless she said everything has done proper and reports from the staff is all good. This is really disappointing as the person supposed to look in to matter but said all is well.

Amazing Night shift staff for the sleep disorder clinic very helpful knowledgable professional thank you

Been here for a few days now and am very impressed. Doctors are very knowledgeable and thorough. Nurses are so kind, patient, cheerful, and caring. Food service takes great care in preparing healthy choices. I'm very comfortable and confident in the care I'm receiving.

Ridiculous. Have to be checked in by 3 different nurses. The check in process makes 0 sense. Would definitely recommend visiting Guelph instead of Cambridge. Left Cambridge and was checked in at Guelph by the triage nurse within 20 mins where as we sat in Cambridge for 1.5 hours and were still waiting to be checked in by the third triage nurse.

The staff here are horribly inappropriate and lack decent bedside manner. When a parent is worried about their child you don't tell them that they are wasting the ER's time. And when a elderly woman is sick and has to be admitted a few times, you don't threaten to stop admitting them because you think they are a burden. And when a woman in labour is scared out of her mind and you fail to comfort her, you don't threaten her with a csection. Worst hospital ever!

Waits are always bad and the covid screener shouldn't be the nurse.

In the past few months I have had to make several trips to Cambridge Memorial for prenatal tests and consultations. On EVERY occasion I received the best care and attention I could have ever asked for. This is a wonderful hospital, with knowledgeable and kind staff and I would recommend it to anyone.

I sat in emergency this past Sunday from 1pm until 7:30pm. At 5:30pm I finally get my bloodwork taken and am told I will have to wait to get an ultrasound and then probably wait a bit more for the radiologist to look over the results. Finally at 7:30pm I speak up about how long I will have to wait because I am absolutely starving at this point and want to get things going so I can go home and eat and what do I get told? "Oh, sorry The ultrasound team went home at 5pm." Thank you for wasting my sunday.

Ive have multiple experiences at this hospital and every one has been awful! Contacting Shelly (Patient Experiences) is a complete waste of time!!!!

Waiting for 6 hours, EMERGENCY

Aboo Faiz (Aboo)

Emergency service is too slow..believe this department is understaffed..when we arived, there were people waiting for 5 hours atleast.pepole started complainting.

While I think hospitals need to get over not allowing spouses in (say what you want, family doctor/walk in clinic/grocery store/everywhere else has no issues) i am very pleased with the doctor today. Unlike Kitchener hospitals that do very little (it is roulette depending what doctor you get anywhere) the doctor gave an outpatient MRI referral and specialist referral instead of nothing. In hindsight I wish we came here instead of Kitchener hospitals for our issues.

Umardeep Gondara

Worse staff ever... after 4hrs of waiting I decided to go home. Rather sit home and die then getting help from this staff..

I will not say the staff and there respect was an issue, they were apologetic about the 3.5 hour wait and initially polite. However, this hospital freaks me out. It looks straight out of a horror film. It’s dim and dark and cold and dingy feeling. Then I enter the emerge room for my little son when finally we get in it felt like I was entering a jail cell. If I was injured or having to give birth I would NOT want to be admitted here. There’s no warmth to this place if your looking for a safe place to be saved in. I legit was scared walking down the hall to go pay for my parking. The elevator doors even look scary , the room I was admitted to was bare wall , nothing in it but patched up drywall walls and one bed with not even a sheet on it or pillow. The emerge chairs upholstery is all cracked up and old, the backing has material which in my opinion should be leather cuz there was spots of blood on it and you can’t clean it. Yuck I felt dirty and uncomfortable. I think jail would be more comforting. Please separate your rooms from the pych ward patients , add some love to this hospital ! no disrespect to any of them but I was in a room that was treated for those patients for my 4 year old. Some kids are scared of hospitals , that room made it worse. I wanted to go home !

My wife gave birth at CMH three years ago we just got the bill now for almost $500 which I thought was all covered by my insurance company. We are already struggling to pay bills, now this. I wish CMH would have at least given us proper notice. It ended up going to a collection agency and we had no idea.

Although I’ve had decent experiences with day surgery and in patient paediatrics, the ER of this hospital needs A LOT of work. The quality and treatment from staff are terrible. The doctors are not knowledgeable from my experiences, and don’t really care if you have a diagnoses or not. Arrive is major pain, leave in major pain with no answers but scripts for narcotics. One test and they say ‘we don’t know what wrong so I think I’ll send you home with narcotics. Most people will get better eventually’. And the ones that don’t?? Seems to be the consensus from many that this ER likes to drug you up and send you off without answers. Even when they were actually life threatening issues that another hospital had to diagnose. There is one doc I’ve heard far exceeds the rest, so if you must go, hope for him. However, if you value your life and health go to any other hospital. Take the time to drive out of town, it will save you time and stress in the end.

Beautiful new facility to look at....it's just too bad that the attitude and communications don't match the building.... 2.5 star rating is stretching the truth about this place. We still don't have a hospital is Cambridge. It's just a building that looks like one.

Everytime I went here which was from 2013-2016 I had nothing but trouble. My daughter was taken from me and the hospital assisted in doing this with CAS. Doing things like having workers come in and talk to me like they cared about how I felt and going to back cas telling them what I said. I would have to stay with my daughter at the hospital because her foster parent refused to. The hospital would call her foster mother and tell her things that I did and or would cas and tell them when I did. They treated me like a child, and like if they didn’t get their way they would just call cas on me. A lot of them treated me with such disrespect because they knew I had mental illness. I have never worked with a group of people who have such disregard for people‘s mental illness and how that plays a factor in having pre-existing PTSD and then towards your daughters illness and state. I had postpartum depression and they treated me like I was some mentally ill crazy person. when really All I wanted was for my daughter to not me sick and I was young and blamed my self. . And even on occasions when I went there on my own. I was treated with disrespect (I total of 3 times and never went back) ! My husband got hurt and he was there for 12 hours as a tax payer because the nurses were baby sitting some people who didn’t even wanna be there. Allowing them to leave and do drugs? I really don’t get this hospital. And then they made him sign a slip saying that he was leaving on his own accord. When really he was leaving because he was sick of waiting around while the nurses babysit. And then when my husband and I were on the phone your nurses try to tell him that he needs to get off his phone. That is completely ridiculous. You do not have the right to tell people that they’re not allowed to call their wives and complain about the services that you’re providing to them. And Last time I checked I do not sign any confidentiality waivers of any sort so you will not be telling me what to do with my property that I pay for. In a hospital that my taxes pay for. And if you really think that people see stuff at the hospital and then I don’t go home and tell their friends about it then you are completely ignorant

My question to Management: why there is no doctors in emergency after 6pm onward. Nurses doesn't even know what is the expected time frame. If patient in emergency has to wait for 10 hours then what's the point of HOSPITAL EMERGENCY? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't do this to us. A lot of kids were crying, their mothers were exhausted, elders who were coughing had to leave because of looonnggggg wait literally avg wait was minimum 5 to 8 hours . Humble request to authorities please look into this matter seriously. I am very disappointed it was first and last time visit to ER at this place . 2 stars because Nurses were nice and they were trying to help. Edit : Kitchner Hospital is far better and quick in response . it took us minimum 1 to 2 hours to get everything done .

My son was admitted in this hospital in pediatric , while the treatment time he was not cooperating to take blood pressure. The nurse behaved very bad to my son, saying that he is acting. He was then shifted to london sick hospital.I checked with the doctor why he is not cooperating , they said his nerves get infected . He is suffering from G B SYNDROME.He is only 3 year old.So our humble request is don't behave to kids like this, if you have little humanity. Now my son is back to home, still under treatment. And he was not acting, he was suffering from pain at that time.

The place needs clean up. I understand it’s the ER but not like this. Very slow just to give you your results. I went there at 5:00am and got out at 2:00pm. It was not even busy. I don’t know what was worse, my pain or the sitting making my pain worse. The doctor said I’m fine and today I found out that I have inflammation.

What can say !!!! worst service , careless , lack of support You might die waiting …

Son needs surgery after CMH neglect. My son cut his finger carving a pumpkin, you could see tissue when you looked at it I immediately took him to the hospital in which we were treated badly to the point in which he said "o stop it your being a big baby" and pushed us through as if being there in the first place was a problem, after the healing process my sons finger would not bend now 5 weeks later he has had an operation to repair the tenant causing a 6 week healing process and tons of physio to follow. THANKS DOC. when in doubt take the 25 minute drive at most and go to grandriver.

Terrible here. Let the screener know I was having trouble breathing and had some pain and dizziness. Told me to sit down someone would be with me shortly. Half hour later I tell her it’s getting worse and I need help! Tells me to sit down someone will be with me shortly Within 5 minutes I had a full on panick attack and had to call 911 from the hospital just to get the care I needed. —— that’s right you read that right I had to call 911 from the emergency room because they were to busy to realiZe I couldn’t breathe. This hospital is a disgrace. Now I been waiting 4hrs to just see a doctor. Now I’ve just left the hospital without seeing a doctor because no one knows where the doctor is or how long they will be. Next time take a drive up to Kitchener Waterloo if u need any medical care.
