Longest waiting time ever

Lff

I am waiting and waiting in waiting room, I do not see any doctor, only patients and nurses! A hospital of sheet!

Abid Miraj

Heading into the 12th hour wait right now to get my friend's finger wound glued as per suggested by the nurse. Wow! Third world countries have better hospital service than this!

The Montreal General Hospital is the worst hospital in montreal.very bad service nurse are so rude and stupid.Doctor are so unproffessional and useless I have a eye pupil bigger then my other one and the eye doctor said that He can find no problem.i also tell the eye doctor that its been years that i have memory loss and eye pupil bigger then the other.I am so furster that the eye doctor cant find me anything.I perfer to go to a other hospital inseated of wasting my time in the montreal general hospital.Very small hospital.the waiting room in the emergency is too long.i waited 8 hours in the emergency with this doctors that are helpless its a darn shame that in montreal the doctors are so ignore and unproffessional and so useless and careless.I dont trust the doctor of montreal are so incompetein

Awful hospital. Mom was complaining of severe leg pain for 8 months - her oncologist did not know why. Sent home from the ER and told by Dr. Alam that it was just a muscle. Mom dropped dead in front of my sister the next day. Autopsy showed a massive blood clot attached to her vein exactly where she was complaining of leg pain. My mom was at very high risk for a clot and no risk assessment was done. Poor treatment, bad hospital procedures and doctors who could care less. Avoid this evil place.

Absolutely horrible. I went to the ER and the waiting room was mostly empty yet I waited FOUR HOURS for them to call me. I wait another half hour to meet the doctor, he evaluates me 10 minutes and says I have to stay the night and he'll be back to get me to my room. After TWO HOURS he still was not back. I asked the staff twice to get him and they said they would but didnt. Spent SIX & A HALF HOURS in the ER just to leave without treatment. It was a waste of time and I'd rather suffer at home than to ever go back there.

(Translated) I am angry at the highest point, I do not like the experience me. The employees are nice, that's true, but he would have to put order in their system. Tell a person to stay up to day at 12 o'clock without eating without drinking and leave the person without news to know when will we call, at what time she will undergo surgery when she has exceeded preske 15 hours without eating even without drinking it's really boring.

Absolutely horrible. I have been to hospitals in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. This hospital is the worst so far. Everything about it is worse than a third world country hospital. I went there at 9 pm and got out at 7 am. The doctor took his time to finally show up at 5 am. Avoid this place.

Pooooor service. I'm here since more than 7 hours and no action and no feedback. Impolite people and no response . The funny thing is we are tax payers but we receive such. A bad service And all they say "statistics say 8 hours " So the dr does not consider you important so he put u down the list . I left with no check

Je suis redevable à vie. The trauma team saved my boyfriend's life. I thought I lost him, but they did all their best. He was for month and a half in a coma, lost wait, couldn't breathe by himself for long time, had pulmonary contusions, but they were there for him, and for us. Now he is a live thanks to them, and doing great, he is continuing to rehabilitate, autonomous, strong, and getting back gradually to the life he had before the accident. They brought him back to us. I cannot thank them enough.

The trauma teams and emergency teams at this hospital basically saved my life. I couldn't breathe after my accident, couldn't eat or drink, speak or move and spent 1 month in a coma. This review is the least i can do and i hope you will never need these "services" but I saw firsthand what looks like an incredibly miraculous job and am forever thankful for all the help i received.

Some staff were mean some were nice. SO its hard to say. Overall the hospital is huge and you will get lost in it. It is a pretty hospital however. I spent my whole day in order to be seen by the doc. But its not the hospital at fault but the medial system in Quebec.

Alena Tourianski

I'm not exaggerating when I say this hospital almost killed me. I came into the ER and they hooked me up at an IV. And then another one......and then another one. I'm a 115 pound female. I know nothing about medicine but even I knew something was wrong when they hooked me up to that third IV bag. When I told the nurse that the third bag is unnecessary she laughed in my face and said, (word for word) "Well, you don't have a choice", hooked me up to a third bag, and walked off. What?! I don't have a say about what goes inside my own body? I was scared and in a very vulnerable state at the time so I didn't argue, but I did pinch the IV tube so that no more fluid would enter my body. Lo and behold, 20 minutes later a different nurse runs in and quickly disconnects me from the IV. She says in a panicked voice that they gave me too much fluid and that my blood is dangerously thin. They told me I have to stay in the hospital for another two hours because of their mistake and they need to monitor me to make sure I don't pass out from having thin blood. I can't imagine what would have happened if I hadn't pinched that IV tube and instead let the entire bag flow into my arteries, good thing I trusted my instincts. DON'T GO HERE, unless you want to deal with rude, sarcastic nurses who would rather endanger your life than listen to your concerns.

Went to ER at 11am yesterday ,bad stomach pain and back ,went there because my Gastro Dr. is at the MGH. after the triage half later ,I was number 26 was finally called to a room at 6pm ,waited 1hr15 in a freezing room ,with no nurse or anyone showing up before ,then walked in a resident Intern ,had no name on his brown outfit ,never told me to put a gown asked me just basic ?? when I came to tell him the medication that I took ,he had never heard of them ,he said only knew generic names ????then would look up on his smart phone to see definitions, when I gave him copies of previous tests done at another hospital (he answered with a foreign accent sorry I can't understand in french)he examined me (something I have to find out if that was necessary!!then said you can go and wait in the waiting room, saw lady with bloodied ripped big toe nails ,waiting from 2:30pm finally seen at 11:30PM. and during my stay 4 patients gave up and left, I was so stupid to have stayed by 11pm I went to theircorner where the Doc are and saw that intern ,and said I had no tests nothing yet ,(WHAT AM I WAITING FOR??) he answered (I have to consult my colleagues (WHAT??) 4 to 5 hrs to consult .wasted 12hrs for some dude that had no idea about anything. was that for REAL .THAT ENTIRE ER yesterday afternoon till 11:30 PM was a circus , and everyone in that waiting room felt the same......NEVER AGAIN IN THEIR ER EVER>>>>the rest of the dept. are great......................never in that ER. so disorganized so who ever the Doctor in charge was..(DID not have any control of the ER)

(Translated) By far my favorite hospital. Employees really care about patients. They are kind, respectful and attentive. We pass very quickly when we have real pain! Honestly, every time I go to this hospital, I leave there happy, reassured and in good shape. The only negative is the whining, disrespectful and mean patients. Always remember that they are there to help you. No need to insult nurses! :) (Original) De loin mon hôpital préféré. Les employés se soucient vraiment des patients. Went to get a Hospital card prior to my appointment, asked a stuff guy in a corridor who was sitting with his iPhone if he knows where is the room for the card because the main office was closed. Guy was rude straight ahead but hey, I was asking for an information so I didn't mind. Went to the right door and the lady in office started by being rude as well. Any way, I kept calm and asked if there's a reason for talking with anger that day? The dumb girl - was pretty young - gave me a surprised look and all of a sudden calmed down and kept polite. Who is hiring those attitude youngsters? Reading the other reviews here, I guess it all comes from the Hospital Direction, bet the stuff up there is as lousy as it gets.

He always looks mad and it upsets me how nurses don't care about patients and do such a fast job and get irritated and impatient.. .. unprofessional

If there is an angel that exists on earth, I saw one today in this hospital. (Montreal general hospital). Mrs. Dale Perks. (Nurse). She brought tears to my eyes. She is such a caring and patient nurse towards the patient who seemed to be homeless and all his clothes were in a mess, yet this nurse was taking good care of him and gave him so much hope and attention, etc... And I'm speechless. She is one of the best assets for the hospital. On behalf of all patients I want to thank you Mrs. Perks that good people in this world like you still exists. God bless you.

(Translated) I cannot give 5 * to the doctors and less 5 * to the auxiliary staff of the x-ray department (floor 5) unfortunately. Sent by the specialist doctor from another department for an X-ray, I waited a good thirty minutes without being called, after having given the sun card and the hospital card to the lady at the counter; After I started asking the staff questions, they found that I was not even registered. There was a man and three women at the counter, an apprentice, a supervisor, and a lot of chatter between them, the personal cell phone in hand sometimes, etc .; the good life. When I asked questions, the supervisor started to say that I had raised the tone (which was not at all true, on the contrary), and that the responsibility belonged to my doctor's secretary (or to gods, or to the wicked life that made them work :(?); (Original) Je ne peux pas donner 5* aux médecins et moins 5* au personnel auxiliaire du département de radiographies ( étage 5) malheureusement. Spent 4 hours there, I had chest pains, and they put me in the end, every time I went to ask, staffs were so inpatient, altitude was extremely bad, i kind of feel like I was not a patient, more like a slave or something. They told me to be patient with an inpatient altitude, what a joke. The ‘nurse’ told me there was only one doctor working in the night, and there were so many patients waiting. I was like ‘is this a very honorable thing to tell?!’ Where was the huge tax we pay? To pay only one dummy work in the emergency station?!

My wife had ulcer (and she had it when she was 5 years old) and she had enormous pain in the stomach. We went to the emergency room 3 times in the middle of the night within one week. We told the doctors that every time that she had ulcer before since she was a little girl. EVERY TIME the doctor confirmed us that "It is not ulcer, she is too young to have ulcer (25-year old)" and our request for a Gastroscopy is declined. EVERY TIME we waited in the emergency room for the whole night and we were given pain killers and sent home. But symptoms are getting worse after the pain killer effect runs out. Until one week later my wife start to through out HEAVY BLOOD after kept vomiting for the whole day! We called 911, and sent to the emergency room for the 4th time within one week. Then, they called a intern doctor (23-year-old maybe?) from McGill's Gastroenterology department and a doctor that does Gastroscopy. We were finally scheduled for a Gastroscopy the next afternoon. Threre were 3 medical personnel in that room, and they found NOTHING! They that they will have to "creative" about where the blood came from. We were sent home again without any diagnose, and they never followed up! With not much choices, My wife bought a flight ticket back to Shanghai, and the hospital there found 3 BLEEDING SPOTS in her stomach and stomach erosion at the bottom right away (with color images)! 3 Bleeding spots, they can't even see one of them! And there 3 doctors in that Gastroscopy room! What a shame and what a waste of tax payers' money!

This is the worst hospital for me atleast. I was bleeding profoundly and went here. Firstly, they didnt tell me anything about charges and all.. they just turned me down and refused to treat me ...then they sent a bill at my home country address.... I wasnt treated and i begged them to treat me or just write a prescription for me. But they didnt.. i knew what my problem was... I took antibiotic myself.... And why the hell they have sent me a bill? Am i supposed to pay for something i never received? Its not about 100 dollars but its about my grief... Please do not visit them....

I came into emergency around noon with a dislocated finger. I was seen by a doctor in 10 minutes. The triage nurse, doctor, and admin staff were very polite during the whole process. Doctor referred me to their hand clinic plastics specialists in two days time. I never thought I would get this efficient of treatment at a Montréal hospital given the hell I've experienced at the public walk-in clinics. Should note that they take hand injuries (particularly dislocations) fairly seriously as there is a limited time before the condition can worsen substantially.

(Translated) Good rheumatology department. The appointments are very well managed. We always have a chair available to wait. The test center is quite efficient, despite the many people waiting. Don't forget to take a ticket. I advise you to drink a full glass of water in advance if you have to provide a urine sample otherwise you will be stuck for 30 minutes in the toilet to force like a good. In addition, the price of a banana bread at the entrance is a bit high.

Came in with severe abdominal pain at around midnight and had to wait in pain all night due to shortage of staff on call (with a somewhat surprisingly empty ER waiting room) only to be finally seen in the morning. Only good side of it all was that I was able to get my own small individual room, but the AC was turned on high and I was freezing even more than I already was and the thin blanket + hospital gown did not help at all... furthermore, I had to try to sleep in my own blood because the nurse who took my blood out sadly dropped some of it on my bed and on the floor (I was shocked to find he wasn't even wearing any gloves) and didn't bother calling someone to clean it up during my stay. Needless to say I did not feel comfortable nor in security during one of the worst days of my life and wonder how clean the room was when even my individual bathroom was clearly not clean and nobody had flushed beforehand. Ps: was kinda disturbed to see the nurse touch his nose/face right after taking blood (and dropping it everywhere) I hope that man will not catch something like aids from someone in the future if he follows such a risky path. Honest to god I would go anywhere but here if I was dying someday

Took my wife there after she passed out and fell in the bathroom. When I got there, I ask to put her in a cot but they refused and made her sit in a wheel chair for about two hours. Eventually she got so weak she started to fall on the floor. After catching her and trying to lay her out on a bench, they finally gave her a cot. She ended up doubled over for a few more hours crying and screaming in pain (as well as others experiencing the same). I ask for anything to control the pain but was told that we had to wait for the doctor. We arrived at 2:00AM and saw a doctor around 8:00AM. So many problems that I experienced and saw other experiencing I was just dumbfounded. I have seen quite a few hospitals in 3rd world countries, but since 1982, I have never seen one this bad.

This place is the absolute worst. I have been there 3 times in the past 3 weeks. First time, my boyfriend was almost dying and diagnosed with diabetes and since he doesn't have insurance and he is in the country as a tourist, they treated him like a celebrity because the bill was 40k. But then, I go for myself as a canadian citizen with my insurance and both times they made me wait over 5 hours and ended up leaving because it's exhausting to wait, the AC makes me feel sick and everyone gets called but me. Besides the triage nurses always say the rudest comments, and shut me up when you talk before their system loads your file in the computer. This place has made me feel offended, makes me feel like I am worthless and I end up coming back home ill and injured.

Disgusting hospital. When you're going to see a specialist, they make you wait in a tiny area where your knees almost touch those of the person in front of you. The medical secretaries have a chip on their shoulder and are so rude and arrogant. You wait 8-9 months to get an appointment, and then you see the doctor for 4-5 minutes, rushed and dismissed. I sought medical help for the first time in my life for agonizing condition, and I was traumatized by how this hospital treats patients. A DISGRACE.

Deplorable emergency room, both in terms of the archaic equipment, filthy rooms, and the attitude of the staff. Wait times for a 5 minute consultation was 8 hours on a very empty, non-busy day. This place shouldn't exist in Canada.

Heading towards our 9th hour of waiting just to get stitches in the emergency room. They shoved us in a waiting room saying the doctor would be right there at the 6th hour and we have been there since. This hospital does not care about you or your medical matter. Please choose any other one. Edit: Your response shows that nothing will change because if you look back at all the past negative reviews its the same thing with the same response. After 10+ hours the docter and resident we met were very nice. It is not their fault, it is hospital admin. Why was there only 1 doctor working the entire department the entire night?

Unfortunately I'm not satisfied at all. We also treated in a way that we are junkies Vs I have masters in electrical engineering and my wife is a nurse and we were with my friend that she is a dentist! it was unbelievable!!!

I happened to be in this hospital a few days ago and Im so disappointed. As I was there since 4 am, I saw the staff who was cleaning the floor and washing the mop cloth in a bucket and in the same bucket washing the dust cloth and cleaning the door handles as if disinfecting( but imagine the microbes they added to the door handles) it was a real shock.... they cleaned only the main entrance and not the waiting hall, which was soooo dirty. it is a real shame. I will never enter to this hospital again. I dont want to catch any infection ....

The health care workers overall were professional but the administrative staff in Internal Medicine have been some of the most unpleasant people I've met. After staying at the hospital for 6 days, I was told to wait for a phone call for a follow-up. I had been waiting for their response for almost a month when one of the older administrative agents finally called me back. Throughout our 3-minute phone conversation, she constantly interrupted me and then accused me of not knowing how to explain myself properly. That woman had the audacity to say I was wasting her time when she was supposed to call me back weeks ago. A nasty individual who made my situation feel worse and who shouldn't be in public service. I'm assuming the MUHC will either ignore this or reply with a copy-paste response about their Ombudsman.

I was referred to their emergency by a CLSC doctor for further examination. After 10 hours of waiting in the emergency, I was sent home without any diagnostic because the resident did not run any test on me. I was told to go back if the same symptoms happen again so they can refer me to a specialist for further examination. I wish that they could tell me this at the beginning so I don't have to spend 10 agony hours waiting just to be send home. And why would you make a patient come back to maybe wait for another 10 hours just to get a referral? I just don't understand. The nurses and the resident were very nice, but there's a serious issue with the efficiency and competency of their system.

Cauhalem H

Came at the ER with my wife by orders of her family doctor because of a heart condition. We waited 7 hours for an exam, and my wife was asked to not eat or drink before the exam to avoid secondary effects. After the exam, we asked various members of the hospital personnel if she could eat and drink normally, and we were told that they would tell our nurse and that she would tell us. The nurse never told us anything, and the personnel we asked to call her told us that the nurse was busy but that she had not forget about my wife's request. Several hours later, after my wife started to feel dizzy and lightheaded, we confronted a nurse, and then they started paying attention to us and even offer my wife some food and a bed to rest. 7 hours after the exam, we were given the results. We arrived at the hospital at 10:30 am end left at 1 am the next day. I understand that, by the triage procedure, my wife's condition was not classified as urgent as other patients' conditions, and I see that the hospital's ER lacks enough personnel to be more efficienct (and that it is most likely underfunded). But to give patients basic information (such as if my wife could eat or drink after her exam) is very easy for them to do and require very little time. I am greatful they offer my wife some food and a bed after (I suppose) they realized their lack of attention toward us, but they should care more about their patients and lisent to their needs while wating, to avoid making them feel worse (it is a very long wait after all and everyone going to ER are probably feeling bad enough in the first place!).

Thé ER stuff neglected my medical history, although I mentioned it multiple times. The guards attacked me to restrain me when I refused to give them my phone. One of the guards was quite emotional and striked me, while saying hateful words to me, other guards shaking their head, not agreeing with the situation. They injected me with multiple sedative and put me in psychiatric evaluation, while I have not gained counciosness back, in order to cover up what happened. I can’t recall anyone’s face or name there, because I was getting choked, and stabbed in the leg with sedative.. The staff shouldn’t be working over time if they can’t handle the stress of this job. They should monitor the mental health of the security staff, since they are given permission to physically manipulate patients. I went in the hospital to get better, but I left with bruises, ripped clothes, and a headache.. This is the opposite of health care.

Yesterday I went to the emergency by ambulance. I received some of the quickest service I’ve ever gotten from a hospital, all the staff were sociable and very nice, going out of their way to make me comfortable. Even down to the security guard who let me use his phone to make a long distance call. They explained everything very well, answered my questions and made sure I had everything I needed before leaving.

Todd Bert

A lot of complaints. People should maybe try paying for healthcare if they are looking for top class service. Those who appear to be doctors themselves and can diagnose a person just by looking at them should probably cure their tummy aches themselves. This is a trauma centre which means if you walk into the building to see a doctor, you may not be a priority. Staff are under a lot of pressure with little resources to work with. I am interested to see if anyone went to another hospital, how much faster they would see a doctor. I waited 4 hours with a fractured wrist but when I was seen everything moved quickly. My wife's a nurse, the reason they look like they hate their jobs sometimes is because there are a lot of people who believe they are walking into a hotel and expect the same kind of service.

Was diagnosed with subdural hematoma and had to be transported from Lakeshore General to Montreal General for neurosurgical evaluation. The nurses and doctors were thorough and straightforward. I understand that they needed to be aggressive in treating the bleeding in my brain but they gave me options whether to wait or have the surgery done. All in all, full autonomy was given to me in deciding what I wanted to be done. I was sent home in a fly and still recovering at the moment. No issues. No unnecessary delays. Great experience all in all.

I believe the hospital deserved this note because of the very poor services I received in the emergency center. I had a deep cut in the knee and under heavy pain. My wound was kept opened with a old bandage full of blood and exposed to air for at least 7 hours. Besides that, there were very long waiting time during each help call and the actual help. I also experienced a nurse who called off all my alarms as I was suffering. However I would like to thank everyone in the hospital for giving me care and most of all the team of surgeons and the 18th floor staff.

I was treated very nicely by night staff. Day staff had zero empathy rude and i was extremely disappointed in er service. My call bell it took them 20 mins to respond and they turned it off once with no one so i had to ring again i left after was just so aggravated they expressed they ware happy to see me leave. I forgot to update this post, I ended up getting rushed for emergancy sugery à couple days later in another hospital with blocked organs and had one removed.

i am a regular at M.G.H. for the past 30 years, every department i've been in is top notch, except for ONE, and it is the most critical; the E.R. in January 2014 i've broke my arm in two places and i waited 40 HOURS to get x-rays and a cast, that's WHY i only give 4/5 star.

Horrible hospital, the people where very rude. We waited for more then 6h in the emergency, while hearing someone who kept throwing up (that was not getting any help) some people even waited for more then 9h to get help. Even third world countries have a better service and “cleaner hospital”. Really disappointed of Montreal hospital service, I would expect better service when it come to Canada specially with the amount of tax we pay. Do better !

Very poor hospital. Patient are "objects" not human being. The quality of professional services as well as the other services is very low. There is a lot more to say but...

This hospital is old but the staff here is mostly very nice and really listen to you. This hospital is known to take in trauma patients so each person in the medical team is prepared for most outcomes. It's really hard to find parking though.

This hospital is a symbol of high standard of health care professional in Montreal. A real Montrealer can always tell stories of self, friends and family in related to the service and care received, with smile or with tear. It represents our lives, our commitment and our value. Feel proud to say it out loud, thank you for standing tall and carry the mountain(north side) , and let us live smooth as the water flows on river (south side). The hospital has the Feng Shui of protecting us.

HORRIBLE. I was visiting Montreal, and had to visit the hospital at night. I heard this one was the biggest one around. I went there, and approximately 6 people were walking in ER. I understand priority due to injury, but I checked in at 10pm and was there til 830am in the morning without even seeing the Dr.!!! Then I was asking around, and apparently at the biggest hospital there was only ONE DOCTOR???? I couldn't wait any longer shivering and sitting there for over 10 hours with no service. Only 6 people in ER, over 10 hours waiting, does that make sense?

Was trying to get to the emergency room to get checked but I couldn't even get inside the building because the people who were stopping people and giving them masks were not following Covid guidelines.. You're telling me that I should wait in line within 2 ft of people, take off my mask first, then disinfect my hands, then you will give me a mask while I expose my face to everyone for a while 5 mins while I wait to be given a mask... The worst organization possible... I need to go the hospital for emergency issues but what's the point of I'll get covid sitting there wasting my time... I just needed to see a doctor to get a referral for a psychologist. I can see why everyone hates this hospital.

I had to leave because of bad service with pain. There is too much drama and extremely unprofessional.sick people. You should be ashamed of your self abuse that degree for nothing. I guess, they only learn to party and harassment while they finish their education. Unbelievable, let your self treat a patient bad because of mental illness that you earn while you were finishing your education. This is just outrageous Concordia and Mcgill students, they ends up with mental illness and they think put you on pressure at dangerous situations can be funny. They are also authorized to work with patient. They should do something in regards of this. When you graduate and there is no job or working in this toxic environments. It's 18 months I am waiting for a call for a CT Scan. After 3 additional requests, my doctor's office called to find out what happened, they were told my request was inactivated. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN!?

Josie Lenar

The Montreal General Hospital prides, and praises it's self on the excellent level of care that it gives to it's patient's. That they make sure every step is taken toward patient's, and that in their care a patient's health improves. Montreal General Hosp also states that they work with the family of the patient. That they listen and reassure the families that a patient is being given proper care. And has no lose of dignity or pride. Well, totaly the contrary. I have a family member who has been hospitalized at this institution for over a month now. He has been to the ICU 3 times. And the cause for this. Is the horrendous level of care and neglect that he has been receiving on the current floor that he has been transfered too. He has been left in his extrement for hours. Shivering. Left to starve. A tray will be brought, and left. He is unable to walk or to feed himself. No nurse or orderly will come by to see if he needs help. He is also very hard of hearing. When he rings the call bell. A staff member will shout from the corridor. "WHAT DO YOU WANT".... And when the orderly was approached by me to tell her that he is deaf, has hearing aids. And may not clearly hear you. The reply i got with great attitude is "I don't know what he has or doesn't have. His health is deteriorating quickly. He's had one infection after another. Last infection was septic....leading to multiple organ failure. And why? Wounds are left opened, patient is not properly washed after a bowel movement. Fungus creeps in to the creveses of the skin. Bed sores...the neglect in this hospital, and on this particular floor is neglect full to the highest degree. We have made several complaints. And still no intervention from a higher level. I also am a health care professional and work in a hospital. Thank fully NOT this one. I would be greatly a shamed. So, be wary. Think long and hard before coming to this institution. They definetly do not give a patient the health care that they deserve. They strip them instead of all dignity and respect. This is NOT the way to give care to the vulnerable and sick.

Valerie Donelian

A lot of things wrong here to be honest. Patients are not provided enough food, barely good enough for a 2 year old. Patients are treated like animals and moved from wards to wards, most times confined and isolated and kept in a dark space with no lights or windows. Lets not talk about the nurses, they do not even know how to speak politely and nicely with the patients. Abusive, agressive and do not care attitude is quite common in this hospital. Decent people with minor depression is treated as mentally retarded and even threatened if they did not do as the nurses asks, they would be strapped to the bed and given heavy dosage of sleeping pills. This hospital is by far a place anyone should go to and if you do, chances of going crazy is highly likely, they wont even let you see sunrise or sunset or breathe the fresh air. Third world country hospitals treat people better than they do.

Irene Szoke

Spent a week in the hospital. Can't say anything but the best of the very best. Doctors, nurses , aids .. in other words everyone in the emergency and the 14th floor short stay ward It really bothers me when people complain . They are overwhelmed on a friday night , I can understand that. They don’t have many doctors at 4AM, I understand that. I had the worst experience in the emergency department of this hospital. I arrived at 4 am with horrible pain in my tooth. After taking tylenol all day, I was given two Advil and told to wait in the waiting room. After sitting for two hours in excruciating pain, I went to talk to a receptionist and disturbed his movie. I was talked down too and almost kicked out of the hospital for "agitating" the receptionist. All this to wait 4 hours and not even see a single doctor. I dont recommend this place at all.

I was hit by a car while on a walk sign on Sherbrooke/St Denis street on May, 7th, 2012 at 2 P.M. suffering loss of consciousness (traumatic brain injury), subarachnoid hemorrhages, collarbone fracture, scapular fracture (blunt chest and heart trauma), neck sprain among other injuries. I was brought to the emergency room and kept there until my post-traumatic amnesia finished, i.e. late evening hours. Shortly thereafter at 1.30 A.M. at night they discharged me from the emergency room home barely walking and confused without any information on follow-up (CT of my head) which was allegedly planned by the emergency stuff (in fact it was not) ! They did not clean and close my deep wound above my left eyebrow so now I have to go for another procedure. They did not investigate my cognitive impairment in the acute post-concussive phase and never call me back for follow-up appointments (I received a phone call to pay the bill 2700 $ but they did not ask me to come for CT scan follow-up. Until today Societe de l'assurance automobile due Quebec did not pay this bill. It was paid by my European insurance). There are important information missing in my medical dossier (as the repetitive vomitting) about my health state and progress while in the emergency room! Indeed when my continuous memory was returning (not documented in the dossier but Dr. Marcoux told this to me in 2017) I had a severe nusea and vomitting. Nobody was there to help except other patients. After this event they were in the hurry to let me go home barely walking. Since then I have a chronic balance problem. Severe mistreatment and medical malpractice confirmed by other hospitals and physicians in Canada and Europe!!!! Their Ombundsman confirmed medical malpractice by writing to me. In my opinion and from my own experience afterwards it is their way of doing things and I am sure they do not feel sorry about that! Looks like criminal activity because the Supreme Court of Canada gives those physicians immunity if the survivor is compensated by the province governemental "no fault" insurance Societe de l'assurance automobile du Quebec (SAAQ). This SAAQ things then is abusing the victim conseqently for several years!!! Administrative justice is working slowly so the victim is left with serious impairment not able to work and struggling with Quebec SAAQ. Medical dossier is missing many information from my emergency stay! They call this hospital BEST CARE FOR LIFE... IT IS A JOKE.. Criminal investigation is underway in Europe because getting impartial justice in corrupted province of Quebec is nearly impossible!

I was brought in with head and shoulder trama. I was told I was fine, that my shoulder was just bruised and I'd be fine in a few weeks, they wouldn't show me my xray, but they'd mail it to me, i never received it. So I went away on an aid mission and it never got better. Wasn't it'll I was in an MSF hospital in Congo where they took an xray showing a clean class three seperated shoulder and I needed to go for surgery. Didnt even need a radiologist to recognise how bad it was, o could see with my own eyes. Don't know how they are the top teams hospital.

(Translated) My condition makes me have to go to the hospital often. So I have some experience. That at the General Hospital remains the worst. I arrived there in ambulance, in pain and unbearable pain (the ambulance even took care to take a different path because each small obstacle exerted an unbearable pressure on the pain). I will not recount my experience in detail because I will do so in the official complaint that I will be carrying, but the emergency physician who "took care" of me was an unspeakable contempt for me. She preferred to make a judgment about the fact that my condition makes me have to use painkillers to relieve her. Anti-pain that I had taken before giving me back, but the pain (acute, I remember it) was getting worse, so much so that an ambulance had to be called to carry me. The emergency physician deliberately chose not to relieve the pain (I obviously needed something much stronger). She let me twist, moan and scream for five hours. She came to me and said, "I was making noise and there were other patients in the corridor." She told me to mobilize a little, that it was not necessary to stay in bed, while any movement was impossible in my case and that's what I had been trying to tell him for hours. She told the friend who was with me to keep quiet, that it was her, the doctor. She ordered him to move away from her, while he was extremely polite to her, and not to speak to her. And the staff, except a nurse, was extremely silly with me. When my situation worsened to the point where it became "physically" visible, what I originally described to her, which she had chosen to ignore, now took the form of something unusual and alarmingly, she changed her tone. But she was still offering me nothing more to investigate further and alleviate my suffering, and she let me go, twisted in a wheelchair. During the night, seeing my condition worsening and fearing irreversible complications, I decided to go to the Royal Victoria Hospital. The day and the night. I was treated with respect, dignity and empathy. It was ensured regularly that my suffering was tolerable. The emergency doctor showed me a specialist, who in turn showed me another specialist. Yes, it was long (we must deal with the system we have). But the welcome and consideration of my condition were irreproachable. I was given the appropriate tests. And it made me understand that this is what they should have done at the General Hospital. Yes, the current context is not obvious for health professionals. But there is no excuse for not wanting to relieve a patient, to judge him or to exercise his "little power", Thanks to the care and the vigilance shown by the nurses, the caregivers and the doctors to Royal Victoria Hospital, I will soon know what illness I have been suffering for years and I can be supported accordingly. As for the General Hospital, the Ombudsman and the College of Physicians will receive my formal complaint. The doctor who saw me there is not worthy to be called "caregiver".

(Translated) Worse hospital. Waiting 9am is quite normal, no awareness of the staff. They wait for patients to die in waiting rooms to react. Not only are the infrastructures worthy of a prison, but the staff is nonexistent: between coffee break and fourire chained .. Only one doctor was available for ALL patients. But what kind of emergency is this? Between desperation and pain, many people couldn't even get up when called out (if we did). We must seriously think about questioning ourselves. Where are human values? Where do we leave our paid taxes .... As much as Canada is considered a developed country, I believe these hospitals are more degraded than those of the worst countries in Africa. (Original) Pire hopital.

This must be by far the worst possible healthcare institution in Montreal. Primarily, with it's nursing staff, who are by far the most unprofessional ; devoid of common decency and compassion. They placed my poor fiancée who was in extreme pain and rushed earlier in the morning to triage right by the nurses staff room. They began creating multiple ruckuses at almost every break hour. I asked them nicely just to refrain from yelling , as my poor fiancée whose been suffering for the past 12 hrs was trying to rest, to my surprise they "slammed" the door on my face. I work in the social sector , for long hours , and have never treated my clientele with such rudeness. Montréal Général, great job on your nursing staff's bed side manners and sensitivity training. I would not wish this inconvenience on anyone. Multiple complaints will follow this review.

Sadly the events that unfolded on January 23rd, 2022 will not bring back my mother but I will use this opportunity to warn others.....stay far away from this hospital and their emergency department. The doctor who was in charge of my mother demonstrated blatant disrespect and disregard for the situation. His level of disorganization was astonishing. He contradicted a neurologist and in the presence of a nurse ridiculed his colleagues advising us that it would be a mistake to take the advise from a doctor who was younger than his own kids. His bed-side manner and level of compassion toward us is a violation of how a doctor should compose themselves. We received a call for my mothers' hip surgery based on her CT scan showing a hip fracture which was not even the case. Not sure whos CT scan they were looking at. A terribly disorganized, fragmented hospital. Shocking and given the latest review not surprising. For the purpose of this posting I will not name the doctor, but shame on you sir, shame on you. For a doctor who explained to me has so much experience and knowledge; I am shocked and utterly disgusted by your behavior. A young physically and mentally fit person just suddenly being near-passing or being in her state is so difficult for the family and you sir did nothing but make the situation worse. Your disorganization, ridicule of fellow doctors, bed-side manner and total lack of compassion are the very reason this system is so highly criticized. I am sure there are many component doctors at the Montreal General, but you sir having very poorly represented the hospital but situation likes this only continue to happen when even poorer management doesn't step in. This will not my mother back, but people reading this, if the ambulance paramedic says they are taking you to this hospital, please do everything possible to stay away. For the sake of your loved ones....stay away.

The poorest hospital I ever been. I throw up one hour once time, I did not have anything in my stomach, even I can't drink water! This situation is last for all day, I feel very weak even can't move. The most important thing is that I am totally out of water. Cause every time I drink, I will throw them up, even the gastric acid, and bile. I went there 12:00pm and wait until 6:30am, the nurse has a very bad attitude to me. And At last I want to ask how many people before me, she just ignore me like she can"t hear that. So I go back to home without any treatment. I have the worst experience in there. Advise: if you were given a blue slip of paper on your arms, you could just go home or change another hospital. Crappy service and the doctors all seem like they gave up on their careers. We were in the emergency for 2 days, only to be sent back home bc "everything looked fine", went back to another hospital immediately and found dehydration, c-diff, and inflammation in the intestines. Garbage hospital with equally garbage staff at MGH.

I hated it! Worst hospital in the entire world! I was dying, I needed a surgery and they didnt do anything because they dont take my insurance and they asked me to pay $850+ before I could see a doctor. I am an exchange student and I didnt have the money. They just dont care, they said that it is the law "sorry". Yeah right, if it was their daughter who was dying they wouldn't just say sorry! I cant just fkn believe it! They would have let me died! I dont recommend this to anyone, and if you are a student and you have something serious, just go back to your country because here they will let you die!!

more sub human treatment under the mcGILL BANNER. A NECK INJURY FROM LAST APRIL! thats destroyed my quality of life and ability to provide for my family. still waiting for a neurology referral from a so called "dr" suzanne morin who has a bad habit of eye rolling, ignoring patient symptoms and statements, and making condescending comments throughout. glad i recorded everything, should make the coming malpractice suit smoother. merry x mas to all the delusional mcgill alumni that have forgotten their oath but still cash the pay check. before your p.r. shills answer to tell me to talk to an ombudsman. i have tried that. LAST SUMMER!!!! STILL WAITING FOR AN ANSWER!!!!!check the name and call me. do YOUR job! look up my name, talk to susanne morin. last i saw her was in september, when she told me i was "competing" with far more severe injuries and it would be "maybe 4 months, i dont know" . again, everything is audio recorded, as i would encourage every patient to do.

This is by far the worst hospital I have ever been to. I got there for a serious virus with my throat. Obviously they had to check if it was Covid .16 hours later. NO RESULTS FOR MY PCR NO RESULTS FOR MY THROAT SWAB. Also, I clearly stated when I arrived that I was allergic to Ibuprofen. Well guess what ? They injected me with an antibiotic from the same family. I got an allergic reaction that almost killed me and had to stay an extra 6 hours to be checked. I have called over 16 times today. No way to get an answer. I will be meeting my lawyer tomorrow first hour to press charges. Enough is enough and I encourage everyone to do so until they get it together. Also I sent the file to J E and they're considering it.

Don’t waste your time, go to another hospital.

Horrible service at the orthopedist clinic. The doctors are just chasing each other and “running around” but not taking in any patients. They have the waiting room flooded with patients and all their room are booked. I had an appointment for 11:00am and it’s past 3 and I haven’t been seen by the doctor.

Their policy is to refuse to process any insurance other than a Canada Health Card because it's "too much paperwork". So if, like me, you're from a country (UK in my case) who's citizens aren't eligible for Canadian health care, you will pay in full and will have a 0% chance of having any of it refunded by your insurer, even if your policy entitles you to coverage! They wanted to charge me $900 for a tetanus shot! I must say the receptionist was very helpful and advised me of other places I could get the shot, but what horrible policy. If I break a leg or bang my head or have a heart attack or something I'll just have to pay up!

I’ve spent time in remote hospitals in 3rd world countries multiple times. All were cleaner, quicker, and more professional than Montreal General. I had no idea healthcare in Quebec was so bad. I spent 8 hours in the ER hoping I didnt die waiting for what should’ve been a high priority call. The rusty bed frame had ‘Iran Sports Dep’ marked on it. The bed had fresh, questionable stains on it. Reminds me of motels that charge by the hour. The doctor did no examination, no tests, no attempt to really do much of anything, just 1 minute of dismissive attention after 8 hours. No advice, solutions, nothing. At least if you die at home, you get to keep an ounce of dignity.

The doctors and staff at This Hospital are great but the building itself brings you back in time seriously needs renovations

(Translated) I wish I could have given a less than one star review. One of the worst experiences of my life. Endless hours of waiting in the emergency room, patients left alone in pain and begging for help with indifference from staff completely overwhelmed and disorganized. I was left alone in a hallway, without anyone coming to take care of me for hours. Being a non-resident of Canada, I had to pay fees, harassed by the staff who came to bring me the numeris machine in my bed. I was then unable to obtain the invoices and the medical file necessary for my insurance. To pay for it couldn't wait 5 minutes, but to get the documents you will have to wait months and face incompetent, indifferent staff without any compassion. NEVER GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!

A music therapist, Danny, and a nurse named Svetlana really helped me out a lot whilst I was here. They had a really profound effect on me and I have so much love and gratitude for them, and the treatment I received in general. I was here several months ago but I still think about them and the things they told me almost everyday. Thank you ❤????

This is an hospital so you don't come here to have fun like you do in attractions, restaurants & stores. You come here because you or your relative is injured or ill. Doctors & nurses can be impatient because they had lots of other patients to care of, along with short of staffs and if you're not good to explain your pains in more medical terms, expect arguments from them. We as Canadians always boast about how we get free healthcare compared to other countries, but this hospital is a good example the drawbacks of it, you have to wait for hours for treatments. Make sure to bring a charger for your mobile devices and since this hospital has free Wifi, you can get distracted to the point that waiting is more bearable there. Also, their restaurant at the main entrance floor is decently priced, can't say the same with the foods at the vending machines.

Avoid this hospital, the MUHC and any Quebec hospital if possible! Quebec was the only Canadian province that refused to participate in a national survey of medical accidents & deaths. Now I know why! I'm lucky to be even walking after a botched spine surgery (won't be able to do so for much longer), but even worse, the doctors & administration do everything to deny any accidents/mistakes, even to the point of refusing to perform tests, redoing tests to refute (i.e. lie about) previous results, changing surgical reports, etc. Do yourself a favor and leave the province if you can: medical care is substandard!

Worst experience ever in a hospital . Waited for 6 hours and still no call from the doctor . That’s the case in emergency. I wonder how bad the medical institutions are . This one is funded by @McGill

The spine surgeon Dr. Reindl gave me back my life after more than 3 years of back issues. As soon as I got an appointment with the surgeon, the General Hospital handled my case so well. They are responsive, very polite and very professional. Thank you to all the staff, I can't possibly thank you all enough. You truly saved me.
