staff very kind but this is not enough we waited 7 hours and after it we left this is ridiculous and stupid don’t go there you will die from waiting not from your pain.
(Translated) waited 9 hours in the emergency room to be sent home with a gracious gift of two Tylenols, my condition having worsened since my arrival. They made an appointment for me at a clinic near us the next day which turned out to be a bogus when I got there. The clinic out of pity offered me an appointment the next morning with a doctor.
Trust the reviews, this place is too expensive and the employees are too busy checking their phones
Nice new building. I do like it. Best Hospital building I had ever seen.
Being an emergency patient, even the worse mental asylum would have treated you better. Avoid if ur going at night Unfriendliness seems to be a culture here Maybe others might have find it superb, but for my experience, 1 star is too much
Really nice staff!
(Translated) The team at Notre-Dame Hospital has been able to adapt to the pandemic situation and remains extremely efficient. I had an appointment for blood tests and in about fifteen minutes, all the steps were completed ... From the hospital card to the discharge. The staff encountered were really competent and professional (the people at the reception included). Well done to your team.
It's a so-so hospital. Some staff members are wonderful and some are just plain rude. One certain neurosurgeon on the 5th floor is super cold and lacks skills in empathy.
(Translated) My boyfriend after a day on anti-inflammatory drugs had a stinging pain in his back mid-night which prevented him from breathing normally, we called 911, who sent us an ambulance directly after explaining the situation, in 10 min the ambulance was there. It is 8:00 am after a 8:00 am wait, he is still waiting to see a doctor. Basically there is no doctor on duty and they don't even warn! They prefer to let people wait in evil for 8 hours. If we had known we would have taken a taxi to a real emergency center.
(Translated) My girlfriend and my friend get a skin allergy and it's going to be a week they have trouble sleeping because of his fetters and they waited 8 hours to finally be told that it was bed bugs and c is totally wrong. I inspected all the mattresses with a flashlight and found absolutely nothing. Everything is new anyway. All that to get rid of work, they are pitiful. Not to mention the cafeteria that serves food in plates and distributes utensils for single use ?? It's irresponsible of their shares when before.
(Translated) Operated 4 times for meningioma in the head is not the luxury but the staff was very simpa and the team in neurology is super (Original) Opéré 4 fois pour des méningiome a la tête c'est pas le grand luxe mais le personnel a était très simpa et l'équipe en neurologie est super
arrived at 11am, it's now 6:44pm, so that's 7.5 hrs+ wait, still haven't seen the doc. the wait time seems to be worse because of covid measure and waiting for rooms to be sanitized? they call the cleaning staff pretty often to consultation rooms, so that's my guess. I'm so hungry and there's no real food, would I have known i'd be in this waiting room all afternoon, i wouldve gotten food from the cafeteria :'( i came here before covid and it wasn't as bad, like 5hrs wait? anyway
(Translated) the intensive care service is worth a 10 * .. congratulations to the dedicated staff ..
I don't recommend, bcuz dirty emergency. Ppl r vomiting no one was cleaning . Really in bad shape. I don't know why so many cases wt vomiting. Diagnosis was not correct. Had to go bk. But no I will take my aunty to a cleaner hospital.
Its now my 22nd hour in emergency room
(Translated) Radiology and MRI team on the check mark. I have never been treated so quickly! Wow ???? Wow ????
Horrible service, not recommended at all.
(Translated) Nurses in the emergency room, today Sunday July 16, completely ridiculous and unprofessional. I left less than an hour to change and eat (I live next door) and when I returned, the two summoned me to the triage room with folded arms to lecture me and threaten me. The two told me that I was not allowed to leave (I could very well have been in the cafeteria ???) and that "it is entered in my file, now when I come I will go last "! ?? But do they care about our health or are they only in a powertrip? It is impractical to summon, two to one, a patient who is ALSO SICK when no one has even called my name to tell me that my file is closed. It's ridiculous, it's a lack of judgment and it's totally unprofessional. I can understand that the emergency rooms are occupied in Quebec, but you cannot DECIDE because you are angry that I am going last, only because I left when you were counting your waiting room ??? How can you, as a health professional, allow yourself to choose to put me after all the people in the queue when I was priority 3 just before?
(Translated) Worse night. Endless. Arrived at 12:30 a.m. and left at 1:45 p.m. A nurse made me feel guilty because I wanted to leave when my 24 hour without sleep struck: suddenly, my file had advanced. Horrible waits between each step of the care. The girl from the inscription at night: “There are 40 people on a stretcher in front of you. " The girl with the inscription on the day: “It varies, it depends, blah blah blah. " The last time I got called, every patient in the room looked at me as the dean of patients. Hell. Nice sunny day and studies in the trash. Never go there in the evening or at night. (Original) Pire nuit. I n t e r m i n a b l e.
(Translated) With the COVID-19 pandemic, you have to make an appointment on ClicSanté.ca and when you arrive at the hospital for your appointment, you take a ticket and you wait in a full room. There is no need to make an appointment: the sample rooms are full and it is very slow. I took a ticket when I arrived and they are already more than 20 patients to go to registration.
(Translated) The care on site was good, the nurses and stretcher bearers super nice, on the other hand the telephone exchange is chaotic! It's been a month and a half since I had an X-ray after dislocating my shoulder, I have never heard from this radio. Worse still, when I call the central to make a telephone appointment, it transfers me to the radio, to the radio I am transferred to the appointment setting and so on until I lose my patience. So I gave up the idea of hearing from this radio station. Knowing that I dislocate my shoulder regularly I would have liked to know the very cause of this problem. To conclude, very good service (nice people) but non-existent communication and a call center worthy of a teleshopping. I do not advise anyone to go, at the risk of never being diagnosed.

(Translated) It's easy to get lost (you may need to better identify the sections) but for the rest, the staff is courteous, the waiting time is reasonable and the specialists are pros who care about the follow-up of their patients. Absolutely horrendous Waiting for more than 12 hours on an emergency, they do not call any patients for more than 4 hours.
(Translated) I had an appointment today for a labyrinthology. The reception was very correct. The specialist very pleasant, very professional and attentive to the patient, very important quality for tests not very pleasant. Only negative point: making appointments by fax. It is not easy to have access to a fax nowadays and I had contradictory answers from the hospital to tell me that my fax was not received, that I was not even waiting list when that was the case.
The worst hospital I ever seen in Montreal. We were there from 6pm to 6am. They did another re evaluate and told us to wait for the doctor but there wasn't any doctor, no one been called on that period! The nurse told us to wait for the morning doctor but my wife was too sick and we couldn't wait anymore! Another terrible thing, the emergency was really creepy, too many homeless! One was screaming, one was crying, etc. The staff was kind by the way
Started coughing blood, got to emergency as fast as I could. Arrived at about midnight. Most people didn't speak English. Triage guy was nice. Others were rude. Waited 8 hours and still no doctor. Others had been there for 12 hours. I just left. Hopefully I can deal with it at home. Security guards were idiots, always waking people up who were trying to sleep.
I have been to this Hospital at least ten times and their emergency , triage services were one of the best in town, but they have some really lazy no good staff in the triage, and some young incompetent doctors. Overall they have good doctors, excellent medical test equipment
(Translated) The collection center team is welcoming, polite and in a good mood that makes you think of a resort more than a hospital. Lots of inhumanity.

(Translated) My mother who loses consciousness and has a car accident, in the emergency room we won't let this girl in because of COVID (currently we are on green level). My mother fell and was admitted to the Geriatric Ward on the third floor a week ago. I cannot praise the doctors, nurses, therapists, and all the support staff who were involved with her enough! The constant care, attention, and great advice my mother received was outstanding! Everyone is so dedicated and helpful. Even though my mother lives in the West End and the hospital is all the way in the East End, we were thankful she ended up there and is recovering beautifully! BRAVO to the whole floor!

Criminally irresponsible Surgeons can butcher you and bare no blame at all A sugeon can drill you in the face by accident and faces no consequences. THAT HAPPENED TO ME WITH DR GILLES CHOQUETTE chief dental surgeon
The hospital building is old and needs major upgrade, but the staff seems very qualified. The oncology department's service is top notch.
(Translated) I would like to thank Dr Giovanolli for the infiltration of March 6 (Quite a birthday present !!!) and Dr Ouellet for a second infiltration on July 26 of the interventionist radiology department. WARNING DONT GO THERE HERE IS MY EXPERIENCE 1) I fell on my knee and the nurses cut my pants in half (in a vertical line) and left me like that to go home in 2) I was experiencing a miscarriage and was sent there. I was just waiting from 10 am to 5 pm. I wasn’t even called yet - mind you there wasn’t a lot of people in the waiting room. I was bleeding and in pain. I told the nurse and she still didn’t call me up so I had leave. This hospital is a joke
Happy to report my experience for blood tests went well. - Met with polite bilingual clerk who readily offered to speak English while processing my hospital card. Then to check-in, where clerk's English was fair, but she did still offer effort. Wait times zero-to-minimal. - Blood draw :Nurse spoke only French but was professional, patient, and friendly. She took over from trainee to painlessly locate my shy veins quickly. Wait time minimal. - Pandemic protocols : Procedural masks handed out at door, though I was permitted to wear my own KN95 mask. Plenty of hand sanitizer stations. Area was not busy, easy to socially distance. My companion was not permitted entry inside, but chairs were available in the immediate vestibule. N.B.: wait area is cold and drafty without no sun. - Appointment date was scheduled via clicsanté.
Horrible hospital... security guard rude as hell atleast nurse were nice.. waiting room is garbage seat are not comfortable... folding chairs horrible would not recommend.. came in due to a major migrainne... other patient with less severe issue goes first... horrible once more !!!

I usually do not look for reviews of hospitals and the health care sector in general, I wished I saw all these negative feedbacks before coming to the urgency section. I am not sure about the system that seems to them "normal" for people to wait for a long time (4 hrs and still counting) and waste such a long time Plus it was an urgency matter!! There is no explanation and I wonder about the medical system in Montreal why people (who respect the country, pay their taxes, have the right of medical urgency assistance) have to wait and "beg" for someone to help?!
(Translated) I loved the doctor who took care of me as well as the nurses! fast and efficient service .. the only flaw is that the blood tests are HORRIBLY LONG! (Translated) At each visit, I have always found the staff to be helpful, attentive. This hospital serves a part of the population with many challenges related to homelessness. I have always seen the staff treat them with dignity. External or radiology appointments have always been given quickly. Since its disaffiliation from the CHUM, I find that this hospital offers a lot more to its clientele. Well done!!! If you’re anyone other than a local elderly person who’s family doctor sends you here for all your clinics DO NOT COME HERE!!!! DO NOT EVEN GO TO THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT. Don’t bring your children either. I dial 811 for assistance as my throat is blown up from an infection and I can’t talk or breathe well. They say the nearest ER is here you should go right away. In my panic for help and as it’s close I take the advice. 6 hours later at midnight the only person who saw me was triage. I’m the dude with the sore throat at the bottom of the list of urgency. I suggest to the receptionist I’m going to head home after sleeping in pain in a slump in the uncomfortable waiting room. She’s said you’ll probably get a better rest at home we only have 1 dr on tonight. Come back in the morning. In the morning I set up a Bonjour Sante appointment at a local clinic, that afternoon I go in and before I say anything the Dr looks at me in shock and says you need to be in the ER. What’s wrong. Told him my story and he sent me straight back this local ER with a note and a phone call ahead to triage. I told him about my blood disorder (like I tell everyone in medicine) and at least this time he understood. Triage the 2nd time put me through almost immediately and I got treatment and care that has fixed me up. The Dr said my airway was 3mm. Less than a straw and one more night could have been fatal without intervention. So yea that sucks. If your family doctor sends you here request it to be the CHUM downtown or the new MUHC (Super Hospital). All the core CHUM staff have left here. This is a Community Hospital and is disconnected from the bigger medical system and has minimal to 0 specialists. It’s also 100% French so try your best to handle the translation problems. Not the best when trying to be definitive in providing the right medical Q&A’s. I find all this out after the fact even when dialling 811 for assists. The OLR (ENT) brought this up in a question asking me why I came here because they don’t do or have XYZ or any of my records or access to them. After all this being said they have treated me well and fixed me back up, maybe a bit over cautiously due to not having my full records and no specialist that understands my blood disorder. In hindsight I’ll go The the MUCH since that’s my main point of all my appointments and clinics. It was at the time I just needed help and was suggested by 811 and by the walk in clinic doctor to come here as it was local.
If you ask me "is the hell really existed", I will definitely answer "yes, right here, where you are standing!"
It seems to be a ghost or zombie hospital. Not a whole lot going on in there. Oh and if you don't speak French, forget it! They would probably let you die in that emergency wait room.

Ridiculously awful experience at this hospital. My friend had a seizure (she's not epileptic, has never had one in her life) and I went with her in an ambulance to the hospital. Neither of us speak much french but they refused to even attempt to communicate with us in english, they were immediately rude to us once they realized we were anglophone. She saw one nurse right when we got there who was sympathetic, but she was at the end of her shift and soon left. Someone who seemed like a student nurse then came in to take her blood but she couldn't find her vein, had to dig into her arm several times and managed to spurt blood everywhere, putting my friend in extreme pain. The nurses - none of whom even had any idea what had happened to my friend - told her she couldn't eat or drink, and took hours to even agree to give her an IV for her headache. Every time we tried to politely ask them about seeing a doctor they were rude and condescending, and would just shrug or walk away. We waited a total of 6 hours with no explanation of what was going on, and not even a time estimate for when she would be able to see the doctor. Finally at 4:00 in the morning my friend decided she was in good enough shape to just head home to bed (her blood work was normal and they were quite sure it was just a stress-induced seizure, we were basically just waiting for the doctor to take her IV out and dismiss her), but they refused to let her leave. We ended up having to literally yell at them for anything to happen, and the doctor's schedule miraculously cleared up after that, and he was able to come see her. TL;DR: Awful experience, way understaffed, extremely rude nurses, ridiculous wait time. Avoid this hospital at all costs :)
very slow and bad service every time.
Infirmières, medecins, personnel au top, a l’ecoute, empathique. C’etait une tres belle experience.
Emerg Dr. Diagnosed my step - brother as Alcoholic when, in fact, he had a severe case of liver stones that needed emergency surgery. He was very ill and could have died in a day or so. He has some minor brain function issues from lack of Oxygen. That Emerg Dr. was too full of himself and was highly prejudice. My half-brother is half aboriginal. Be aware!
Long waiting time without prior notice when it’s your turn or how long you should wait even if you are in the Emergency section. Take with you a cup of coffee or a sleeping bag since you may wait more than 3 hours. ????????????????????????
(Translated) I went to the emergency room for a kidney stone, it seems that I was lucky that it was a quiet Sunday when there were few people. In any case, they took care of me quickly. (Translated) JUST INADMISSIBLE SERVICE !!!! No hospitality! If you don't like your job then quit !!!!! THERE ARE LIVES IN GAME AND WORRIED AND APPEARED FAMILIES BEHIND EVERY PATIENT !!!! They pushed to the door a totally weakened patient staggering vomiting every hour and suffering from cancer on the pretext that he could not lie on the chairs of the waiting room! Going as far as bringing SECURITY to put it outside !!!!! It's scandalous! It is not voluntary behavior to want to lie on the chairs with such a weakened state and in bad shape without being able to stand up, it is a reflex of survival !!!!!! Put a seriously ill patient out at MIDNIGHT WITHOUT SUPERVISION and let him fend for himself to find transportation and go home, WHAT A SHAME! Truly outrageous and unacceptable service! Horrible! Do you wait for a patient to die before your eyes before perhaps reacting? THIS IS VERY SERIOUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Original) SERVICE JUSTE INADMISSIBLE!!!!
Absolutely terrible hospital. I arrived at 11:30am with a terrible migraine. I had been suffering for 4 days with intense migraines and finally decided to go in. After waiting 6.5 hours I was never seen. I asked two staff members how long it would be and they were rude and ignorant with me stating my name and how long I had waited from their screen. Sitting in a loud and cramped ER when you're in that kind of pain for 6.5 hours is unacceptable. I left without being seen. I will be filing an official complaint.
I waited 7 hours and I could not be examined :(

Been waiting about 2 months for an MRI when the lady who took my doctor’s medical request said it would be no more than a month. Called back for a follow up to learn that my name was never in their system and they had lost the physical request. When asked if I could get an appointment right away upon receiving a new request lady said no but I would be priority...! Absolutely horrendous service.

(Translated) My mother fell and she has lower back pain, we called an ambulance and brought us to the hospital our lady because of the traffic which was 60% only the site. Very good service of ambulance drivers by the way. We arrived in the morning the madam at the triage without any humanity she could see my mother writhing in pain and made her change places by herself from the stove to the wheelchair and my mother screaming in pain every time I had her said that she suffers from excruciating pain in front of her and when I wanted to help my mother to change places the lady forbade me to help her, apparently it is an evaluation me and my helpless father without being able to do anything to help and madam stupid and arrogant and at the end send us to the waiting room. It was not enough for her to see my mother cry and scream and tremble in pain. A very frustrating moment. I understand the triage well, the person most in danger goes first but here we are also talking about a person in pain who is also left in pain. Yet the paramedic, according to the description of the fall that my mother had, I was told to keep it Alonger but the madam at the yard decides that she should sit down on a chair. We've been waiting for 5 hours. calls to see the doctor are barely made 1 patient per hour and even more They are or these doctors too. After 7 am I returned to the yard to see what will happen to finally hear our name being called. Once at the consultation room it took almost 1.30 for the doctor to arrive. Finally he requested an x-ray and voila confirms a fracture of a vertebra in the middle of the back. The postive is that since the doctor saw her he and his staff have been very professional.
If you're not a very good French speaker, I would suggest bringing someone who is fluent to translate for you. The nurses and doctors I saw were bilingual, but the administration only speak "a little" English. Otherwise the staff are very friendly, from the hospital card woman, to the nurses and doctors. I went for a routine gastroscopy and everyone was very helpful and understanding. Only removed a star because so much of the hospital is under construction, with scaffolding and tarps everywhere, signage can be confusing.

We spent all night waiting at the emergency room our lady, we could not find her veins for blood samples. While the fever continued to increase we did not give him anything! At one point he needs an anal temperature to conclude that he was entitled to two tylenol! Finally, a resident came and we had a radio and blood samples. No sign in the exams except high phosphores. My spouse asked if he could take glivec, She demanded to prescribe it and to have it come from the pharmacy of the hospital while we had it because he takes it every night. Around 3am, I asked if he could get his glivec and I'm told there is none and we used his own medicine. Why exactly the same prescription while he had the molecules on him? Majority of friendly staff, seems receptive but does not really listen.on we were promised a meal that never happened! (Translated) Staff sometimes rude. After 6 hours of waiting without having called anyone in the emergency room (there were more than ten of us) I am going to ask the lady at the reception gently if we are thinking of calling someone at some point? It was 2 a.m. His response: "So wait until I explain how it works here! Back there are more than 40 people lying down and 1 doctor so as long as no one is stabilized we would not call you. And these are more serious cases than you "all this with annoyance. I am not coming to pretend that my case is more serious than another! I can't guess that there are 40 people so I just came to ask for information to assess according to the back workload if it is worth staying or not. I ask her the directions to follow to get home not wanting to wait any longer she shows me the door of the room where to go with a wave of the hand. I ask the nurse responsible for returning my hospital card if they plan to inform us of what is happening in view of the particularly long wait. She replied "well no anyway people always wait like that and when they are tanned they will come back". Giving information to patients should not be a source of annoyance or surprise. If you did this on your own you will be less upset about having several people asking you the same thing. And you will also help us know what to expect. You are surely overworked and numb from seeing the sick, but try to remain human and kind because all of us who are in the hospital are not there for your beautiful eyes but because we are sick. For the rest of the staff who are kind and attentive, thank you very much.

Oh yes, and despite having confirmed before, the hospital did not have my phone number so no news at the end of the day I went there. Very greatful for service, well indicated inside. Staff and volunteers were respectful and polite. The laboratory is good, not much waiting and sympathetic people there. For (French) Non-resident, the cost is correct.

This was my first experience at an ER and this has taught me it’s better to be in pain at home for a couple of days while trying to get an appointment for a clinic rather than going to an ER ✌️

(Translated) Very efficient and fast external appointment, no waiting time once there. So on site less than 2 hours, free parking. Covid 19 instructions well respected, staff (both security guards and medical staff) smiling. The hospital is dated and it's a bit complex to find your way inside, but the staff manage the users well.
Nice staff
The worst hospital I have visited in my life????

Excellent staff! simply doing humanitarian job or hobby!
The nephrology staff on the 7th and 8th floor is the best in the province, if not in the country. We could not ask for better support.
Worse hospital ever !!!!!!!!! Long waiting time , rude receptionist , waiting seats are worse ,,, everything is horrible!!!!!!
(Translated) Can we have more stupid staff please .... It is extremely unpleasant (Original) Peut on avoir du personnel Plus bête s'il vous plaît.... C'est extrêmement désagréable
Long waiting, I had a lot of pain and after 6:30h waiting to see doctor, I ask 2 times about when I can see doctor and nurse told me in second time 'go back to waiting room if you come next time, security go you to the outside' I went to home without see doctor Terrible
I had troubles finding the correct department I was refer to simply because I don't speak French. Also, the doctor there "suggested" me to do the exams I needed back in my country because in Montreal I would have to wait for months and most probably my insurance would not cover the expenses. The doctor wasn't very helpful. It seems like she wanted to get rid of me.
Show up for a 6:30am for my friends surgery...it is now 14:03 and still waiting. What would have been nice is a bilingual help desk/front desk, as neither did they or security speak English.
(Translated) I called for information and the lady at the other end told me that she has 6 other line to answer and she has no time for me. All I asked was whether my mother, who had stuck back and suffering could have access to another option than waiting chair to come, because it could not sit . The receptionist my downright blubbering over him and I hang up.
The hospital building is old and needs major upgrade, but the staff seems very qualified. The oncology department's service is top notch.

I had a knee implant in 2018 and a hip implant 2020 Doctors and nurses very nice, will also go back for my second knee implant!
Staff is not billingual and it is unacceptable that people who work for the government and especially at the emergency department don't speak English as well. When I asked for someone English speaking I received a lot of attitude and the lady at the reception finally called me a gentleman who spoke English. He came and he told that I have to speak French too because I'm in Quebec. He was very proud and told me that 90% of the staff doesn't speak English and it's how it works. I speak french but I feel ashamed that people who work at the hospital are still so disrespectful to people who are English speaking. If there is a person who is like me who has breathing attacks all the time but wouldnt speak French. It can cost someone's life that people who work at the hospital wouldn't be able to help because they won't understand what this person is trying to say and sometimes every second counts. I totally agree that in Quebec people should speak french but at the hospital employees have to be bilingual. If my doctor wasn't so nice and knowledgeable I am not sure I would come back here.

Be aware!
I feel very sorry for the next sick English person that has the misfortune of coming into contact with the receptionist Lyne Ryan. I was treated like garbage because I don't speak french. I was struggling to understand the receptionist who told me no one in the hospital can speak English. As soon as she realized I couldn't speak french her additude towards me completely changed and she started being condescending. we had to communicate by writing letters back and forth to each other on paper and it took over 25 minutes to fill out my info while I was on the verge of puking. When I realized I was not getting anywhere with her I picked up my phone to call my mom who speaks french in the hopes she could help me out.. before I could do this Lyne immediately jumped up and yelled for the sercurity gaurd to come over and accused me of taking pictures of her and told me I had to sit far away from her because of it. I absolutely was not taking a picture of her and she yelled at me and tried to escalate the situation in front of a room full of people to prompt me getting kicked out of a hospital. The receptionists name is Lyne Ryan and I truly believe I was treated like this because I don't speak french because other English people in the waiting room were complaining about her as well. If you work for a hospital you should be able to speak more than one language and also maybe a bit of sympathy and kindness for the sick person sitting in front of you. Even while I was waiting in the room for the doctor, Lyne would walk my room and give my boyfriend and I dirty looks.
Showed up to the ER with huge pain. I waited 9 hours to speak to a doctor, and the staff never asked about my pain or well-being after arriving even with clear signs of discomfort, and after the paramedic had recorded me saying that my pain was a 7+. I had to ask twice to receive non-narcotic tylenol. They were clearly busy, and perhaps short staffed. But there are definite ways to improve. The doctor was intelligent and well-mannered. However, their assessment relied on an assumption (albeit one that could be correct) and for this reason they chose not to include any follow up. I will be using my records to receive follow up testing at another institution.

The health care system is at risk of unravelling. Many people retired early others have left on 'burn out' because of the difficult working conditions. The Covid19 pandemic has eroded the fibres that weave together healthcare, from CLSCs to CHSLDs to hospitals, in Quebec. More importantly, there is a disappointing brain drain of qualified nurses and doctors to other provinces. Educated healthcare workers are leaving Quebec because Loi21 makes what is on a doctor's head more important than what is in their head. Hopefully, the situation will improve when Quebec society demands change.

(Translated) I went to the External Clinic - Gynecology for a Pap test. The system had sent me to Dr. Gangal. It was my first meeting with him. The Pap-test is a simple test, but afterwards they took me out on an almost unconscious wheelchair, after Dr. Gangal gave me a biopsy without my consent, without anesthesia and without warning me of the consequences. . Great hospital -- polite and courteous staff.
Slow service, but staff is nice overall. Free wifi is nice but it isn't very stable and randomly disconnects.
Disastrous experiences in this hospital with “extremely polite” staffs. Yelling instead talking nicely. They were so rude.
I had two very different experiences on two separate occasions. One was awful and one was much much better. On my first time at Notre Dame I was brought into the intensive care emergencies and left there with no information, care, or reassurance for over 9 hours. On my second time, in another section of the hospital I presume, the nurses and personel were the ones who took care of me with a lot of patience, empathy and sympathy. They were friendly, quick, and did the most they could and often more. The food just isn't good.
I had my blood test here, I dont speak french but people are nice and helpful. Experience was good.

Good luck getting any services here if you are Anglophone. I had a radiology appointment today, and because of traffic I was late. I called the hospital to inform them. First of all, the whole answering system is french only. Finally when I got to talk to someone from radiology department, she put me on hold for like good 40 mins I'm guessing only because she didn't speak a word in English. I finally got there very late with the idea of taking another appointment for another day and boom! Nobody speaks English there in person as well other than the radiology reception lady. Then it makes me think why they put me on hold for 1 hour?! She literally said, I had to speak french in order to be able getting served better and I was like what?! So they are basically saying there get out of here if you don't speak french. Then she gives my papers to go to an 'English' hospital. Long story in short, there is a language discrimination and a huge barrier at this hospital and what a shame, I mean this is Canada, last time when I checked the Sherbrooke Street is still in Montreal downtown not in france?

Worst experience ever! Went for a blood test and they did not test all the requested indicators by the doctor. They said that the doctor did not identify the proper tests which was completely false (I confirmed with the doctor). They said that there was nothing they could do and that I needed to go back to redo the blood tests.... It took hours of waiting the first time around... No thanks, I'm going private. They are unbelievably inccompetent... So frustrating.

The worst hospital in Montreal! Literally! Let me tell you my story. I've been sick for the past 5 months; all my body hurts, I have ulcers in my mouth and my tummy has gotten very big and it hurts me every single day. I haven't been able to get anything done at this hospital. They lost my blood tests 2 times, they literally made my to do the same freaking blood tests for the third time. I had an emergency referral from a specialist to do a colonoscopy, and I took the physical paper from the doctor with my own hand and gave it to another doctor at the emergency after waiting for 8 hours. They lost that paper and there is no colonoscopy for me at all! After 5 months and doctor's recommend that it's freaking serious and urgent! No medicine no nothing. I have to take out money from my wife's student loan to be able to do a colonoscopy at the private sector. They are too slow, so irresponsible, so reckless and rude!

Disgusting expierence. My girlfriend was brought to the emergeny for alcohol poisoning. Everyone was rude and insisted only on speaking french. There was limited space so they placed her on a bed in the hallway and shoved the bed against the wall. Her head was hanging off the bed and the nurses didn't realize they were about to squish her head between the wall and the bed. I had to lift her head in time to avoid being squished! I told them to be careful because they almost squished her head. So they called security on me. I was worried for her and refused to leave her side but was not being loud or violent, but they weren't having it so security AND male nurses wrestled me to the floor. One security guard, an older scronny balding french-canadian man with glasses put his knee on the back of my head and pinned me to the floor with all his weight then leaned in real close and said "ici on parle francais, mon estie." They then dragged me out and that one security guard punched me in the face off hospital grounds. This is in no way a joke or an understatement. Both me and my girlfriend were treated like animals. The people involved should lose their jobs, but thanks to unions the best i can do is notify the general public of my expierence. I am currently speaking with my lawyer to adress this situation. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTLEY NEED TO. They are racist, rude, jaded, negligent, and have litterally gotten away with assault. I would have felt safer being mugged in a back-alley.

For a simple medical imaging you should wait more than two months. Poor service quality and management (That is also true for overall Quebec healthcare system). They cannot even perform a proper blood test. Bruising after blood draw is because the healthcare provider is not skillful enough or doesn't care to do a proper job.

Unless you are brought there against your will by the paramedics please choose another place. If you are not extremely close to death they will just not care about you. I have been brought there by the paramedics because I fell from a ladder and couldn’t walk but when sitting down i wasn’t in pain so they left me sitting for 22 hours at the urgency. I spent the night there with multiple people without being able to lay because they didn’t have beds or litters available for us (some of the people i was with were in wheelchairs too)Next day my back was in fire and I could not sit no more. the doctor did a radio told me that nothing was broken and it was probably the shock of falling from the ladder that was preventing me from walking but I was suppose to be able to walk in the next 3 days. They then referred me to a physiotherapist that I have to pay to take care of my knees and back problem that I didn’t have when I came in. I ask them if I could be hospitalized for 3 days until I could walk because I live alone in Montreal and all my friends are outside the city and work but they told me that because the radio shown nothing severe they couldn’t even if I clearly couldn’t walk and I was moving in wheelchair. They did not propose anything helpful to me for the time I would not be able to walk. Long story short they had a special service that helped me get back home in front of my door step unable to walk for 3 days with no help and a back problem that I didn’t have when I came in. A friend from another city had to ask permission at his job to come and help me for a week. But what if he couldn’t ? What if I had nobody to help me ? Basically they politely told me f**ck off we don’t know how you are going to take care of yourself but you are not dying so our job stops here. We let you figure out how your are going to cook, eat, do the dishes.... for 3 days ( was actually a week) without walking and with a messed up back that wasn’t messed up before they left me sitting for 22hours. Please if you are not dying and have the choice go somewhere else I have been 3 times to the Jewish for things way less severe than not being able to walk and I have been treated amazingly in less than 4 hours.

I was worried about coming here for tests as I don’t know French well. Based on the reviews here it sounds as if they’d throw rocks at you or something. I believe the other reviews are mostly based on the ER or skewed negative just due to the nature of wanting to share negative comments more than positive. I didn’t go to the ER, I had an appointment. That said everyone from security to the technicians were very polite and helpful. I did what I could in French in the way of greetings and asking if I could proceed in English, one or two folks needed extra time to work with me to understand the next step or directions but Everyone was helpful. Wait times even with an appointment can be a bit long for some departments though.

I am really surprised to see the negative reviews, I was there this morning for a thyroid biopsy and was impressed with how kind and helpful the staff, nurses and doctor were, so impressed I came here to write a review. My doctor was fully bilingual, everyone was just so lovely.

(Translated) Yesterday, at the reception of the oncology department, I waited more than half an hour to simply present my hospital card in order to meet my doctor. Only one secretary in three took care of us. More than 20 people were waiting, standing in the corridor. However, we had changed the operation a few months ago and everything was fine. In addition, the cherry sundae, I was the first patient to make an appointment in July, for a day for which no appointment had been given. I am offered 8 hours in the morning. I ask if I could have it later today because I live on the South Shore. Impossible now. I must take the time given to me, even if there is availability. Really, we force ourselves to "disgust" us.
(Translated) last sunday i went there for the itch. Even though the loin was hanging, the quality of the medicine was very good: she was patient as she touched my skins to see if they had a fever. The skins were very disgusting because of the ulcers shedding. She believed that poison ivy caused the disease but I did not grant: I believed, according to my story of allegy, that it was because of the very small and invisible parasites. My opinions bothered her a lot but in the end she insisted on her opinion and gave me the prescription. I had to follow her with a lot of doubts. When I used the cream, took the medicine, all the itching that had been on me for a few days disappeared and I was able to sleep well at the end --- After 3 days, all the ulcers almost healed. Halleluia! All the workers in this hospital are good except that sometimes people (not bcp) online for the first doctor's examination urgent could walk past them after she had spoken to security, with nothing to politely explain to those in front of them. Freezing is good if the person asks politely and honestly, but it is not civilized or is confused to silently freeze. I am showing this problem here not to accuse sb but hope that the hospital can more and more perfect. We always pay more attention to the good than the bad. In short, I hope that God blesses this hospital and more and more patients can benefit from its good qualities.

Rotten place to go for injury treatment, or anything else, worse if you are anglophone. A 'weekend nationalist', 100K+ salaried, 'MD', babbled an accusatory 'YOU don't speak French?" before checking a busted up hand.....otherwise, she refused to address/respond in English ( which of course she knows) ..... gave the 'all clear', but the hand is still in pain/numbness, so it's possible malpractice, to boot....hostile, smug, bureaucratic attitude from so called health care providers. And this 'nationalist' behavior is probably official hospital policy ( see other reviews) . For your benefit, go the extra mile (or two ) to an English accepted hospital. Better yet, video record this arrogant behavior, for others to see online. The hospital seems obliged to post fake 5 star reviews to counter their treatment of patients
Totally disappointed I came here today at 2pm I was new to this hospital I came here for blood test with appointment the lady who sitting at in the main entrance misguide me about the laboratory she said I have went out and take another entrance when I go there they said you have to go another on left side of hospital when I went there they said this you can go to emergency they can help and when I was reached at laboratory they said it closed now....I surprised to see her she was not able to tell people direction even she doing job at hospital

Worst hospital in the world. I waited for 6 hours. From 8pm to 2am and still couldn't see the doctor. The staff were speaking only French and were very rude. I had a sore throat infection. Excruciating pains and yet they acted like my case wasn't serious. Even when I complained severely. I was told I would get arrested if I don't stop questioning the nurses or whoever the blue dressed interns are. At the end they said I should come back later in the day for an appointment. I just walked out and I'm never going to return to that hospital or any for that matter. Quebec government should look into their unruly behaviour! Please yall avoid it.

I’ve lived in new Brunswick, Toronto, and now montreal, by far this is the best hospital I’ve been to. They took me in less than an hour (which is unheard of for ER), they didn’t just push a pill without examining me thoroughly, they gave me blood work, then an X-ray, then an appointment for a specialist. All while being friendly and helpful. Thank you for you great service!

I'm waiting for hours with a chicken pox only to find out that they sent me in a wrong room, while sitting just 2m from me. Noone speaks English and if you don't speak French, go to another hospital. Because they will look at you like you are an alien from another planet. They don't even try to understand you and just go away. The worst hospital I've been to. Oh yeah they had an old lady who couldn't move, she was crying and begging for water and the nurses were there and everyone was standing there just laughing at her. Don't come here. Go to jewish general, they will take care of you the best they can.

(Translated) This is the worst service I received from a hospital and staff on how well I knew. Having received a shock to the head, I have been waiting since 9h without having been consulted by a doctor when it has been more than 3 hours that no serious emergency has been brought. When you try to know a little more about the wait and the duration, the reception staff answer you in a very rude way. It seems absurd to come for treatment and come out worse-in-point only on arrival. It is no surprise that there is no more traffic in this hospital.

(Translated) Unfortunately, bad experience with the gastro appointment center of this hospital as if you were talking to robots and not humans. An AA will have to be able to offer unparalleled customer service to the public as well as to the private sector or even better. A smile even behind a phone can make all the difference, it's free and makes all the difference! If I only could give zero stars. They have revolutionized hospitalization.. you go to the emergency room. You sit there for hours and with absolutely no visit from a doctor or even a nurse you get well within a few hours and walk back home.

I had an emergency a few days ago and was taken to Notre-Dame, which scared me because I was in a lot of pain, and thinking that I'd have to wait for 10 hours to see a doctor. I did not wait one minute. I think they saw that my situation was serious. I was taken to an observation room immediately, had exams done, and saw the doctor in my first hour there. The staff were all very kind to me. The only moment when I did not feel 100% cared for was during the triage. The nurse started in French, and I said that, even though my French was intermediate and I could try to answer in French, it'd be easier for me to explain what was going on in English. He replied "I don't speak English", which is a lie, because the staff were all bilingual. Overall, my experience was good. The building is quite nice and clean.
I can not imagine more horrible place. Disgusting, inhumane. Run away, never ever think of going there if you have a chance to choose. In this case the ambulance was directed to Notre-Dame, because they were NOT busy. Arrived ther at 5.30pm with broken leg and pain 10 out of 10. Waited for 13 hours just to be re-evaluated by triage again and be told to wait. Met a doctor around 9am and then waiting (X-rays) and waiting (scan). Brutal, arrogant, waiting and waiting. Managed to enter the ''minor emergency area'' without been called... at 3pm , they were surprised. told them they made me wait for 22 hours. NO interest, all relaxed. A few patients in the emergency and No ambulanced with major cases. Eventually left after 23 hours with a cast from knee to toes. People working there have families, I will pray for them. WORST HOSPITAL EVER. Criminal. 23 hours - to put a cast.

(Translated) In March last year I went to the emergency room and had a very bad experience. The doctor at the entrance was unprofessional at all and gave me very derogatory comments. Since my heart was beating faster than normal he would tell me things like: Is it me who has this effect on you miss? And when he asked me to put up my sweater sleeve to take my pressure he added that several women had tried to seduce him by showing him their breasts. I do not recommend this hospital to anyone especially if you are a single woman.

I got hit by a car and was sent over here at 8pm. It's now 4am. The nurse who checked me in told me that if I needed more Tylenol to help with my pain that I could ask any nurse and I'd be given some. I haven't seen a nurse anywhere since 10pm. My knee, tailbone, pelvis and neck are hurting even more than when I got here and I'm very close to just heading home, broken bones or not. I almost died yet apparently that's not enough to see a doctor or nurse or anyone for hours.

Absolutely awful hospital. I was brought in there for a suicide attempt, and the staff were rude, sarcastic, made me feel like a burden on them, etc. They treated me like a child, would not answer my questions, would not give me any information on what was going on, threatened to restrain me to the bed several times when I tried to explain that I have chronic pain and just wanted to move around a bit to ease the pain(I even said someone could be with me the whole time, I didn't care I was just in extreme pain and needed to move around a bit!). The psychiatrist I dealt with was an absolute mess. He didn't listen to anything I told him, and because of this he gave me the complete wrong prescription and also put a limit on it so I couldn't even fix it to get the medication I actually needed. He made an appointment for a follow up, but wrote no details down for it(I was in a hospital gown, so not like I could do it myself), but gave me only a paper with his name and a phone number in it. When I called to get the appointment details, it was the hospitals usual number, so I tried talking to someone in the psychiatric department to get details and they informed me that the psychiatrist put no note on my file, so according to them I hadn't even met him. Altogether my experience with this hospital and its staff was degrading and retraumatizing.

(Translated) At the doctor's request, I had to go to the Emergency Room because of quite worrying symptoms. The pre-triage linked to the pandemic is very long, the triage then and the wait are also long, com tjrs. But once taken care of things go very well. Thanks thanks ! to the Emergency staff that day, all were attentive, competent, I greatly appreciated their kindness. Having had to see two specialists, do blood tests and a fairly thorough examination, I would have expected much worse in terms of time and process. I wanted to say that I am really grateful to the staff, it has not been easy, no, in these times of pandemic. This Emergency, from what I have seen, is very good, human staff and attentive, good doctors, from what I have seen.

(Translated) So I put 3 stars because the lady to make the hospital card is great but really super super nice super good mood despite the fact that it is super early. She helped me find the department brief a lady in gold thank you On the other hand the department echo the 5th basement it is just the opposite. The doctor nothing to say but then the receptionist ... My god ... A disaster not kind at all. In short already we are stressed because we hear it does not come for fun at the hospital but there with it in front of it does not make it easy! In short, very good general reception but not the echo department of the 5th basement (Original) Alors je mets 3 étoiles car la dame pour faire la carte d'hôpital est top mais vraiment top super gentille super de bonne humeur malgré le fait qu'il soit super tôt. Mon dieu ...

Necessary repairs make it hard to find some services, but staff are helpful and friendly. The medical care is great.
I would laugh if I were not crying already. Never seen such waiting times at a hospital emergency.. Everything here seems very disorganized.
On Sunday afternoon 21/1/18 I was in my hotel room having what I thought was a seizure, I was vomiting for 6 hours straight and I was fearing for my life. My partner called an ambulance straight away which took nearly 30 mins to get there. The paramedics seemed okay but they didn’t speak much English. I told them what was happening and told them we were out the night before for a few drinks and we think I had been spiked. The paramedics obviously assumed this was from alcohol and put me in the waiting room in the ‘minor’ section I was throwing up over myself for 6 hours in the waiting room I couldn’t feel the left side of my body at time and I was having extreme muscle cramps. I asked to be re-evaluated because I could not believe I wasn’t being taken care of The lady told me it was from alcohol and said I needed to wait My symptoms only worsened and I was going in and out of consciousness Not one person offered to find someone in English to help me!! They refused to speak anything but French I honestly felt helpless and got to the point where I was screaming in pain so someone would help me. All they seemed to care about was making sure I had money. Finally a doctor saw me and realised what was happening, I had been spiked with GHD and was so debydrated from vomiting that I was having muscle spasms and my vision was blurred. I cannot believe the inhumanity of the people that worked here. I can say by far this was the worst experience of my life! When I was taken to a bed and put on a drip I felt negelected The doctor saw me once and it was for about 5 mins in the morning He gave me ‘Ativan’ to take home and gave me absolutely no advice on wht I needed to do. It’s the next day and I feel so horrible.. this was meant to be a holiday away and I do not feel safe here one bit. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL IF YOU ARE A TOURIST!! I PROMISE YOU WILL BE TREATED LIKE ABSOLUTE GARBAGE.
(Translated) Referred by the excellent Mieux-être medical clinic, I went to Notre-Dame hospital. Several positive remarks deserve to be pointed out: 1. The procedures for dealing with Covid 19 are respected (mask given at the entrance, gel available, plexiglass separates the chairs, interpersonal distances generally respected); 2. Punctuality is highly respected; 3. The welcome is professional and the smile is very often present; 4. Signage on screens, on the ground and on the walls facilitate orientation of beneficiaries. If necessary, the workers take the time to indicate the places; 5. The test procedures for which I presented myself are explained orally and by accompanying documents. 6. The experience has been very satisfactory for me. Thank you to all of you. (Translated) My mother had surgery for two cancers in 2011. The care she received at Notre Dame Hospital was worthy of what we would expect from this location. The care and service of the staff was beyond reproach. My mother was also able to take advantage of the hospital service offered for those who must have follow-up examinations after having undergone surgery for cancer. In addition, the food in the hospital cafeteria is very, very good and diverse. My mom had to go back to the hospital yesterday for x-rays and it was absolutely Notre Dame that she wanted to return because she felt safe there and it didn't scare her.
Hi I juts want to thank the nurses on the 5th floor at Notre Dame Hospital last night for the amazing care they gave my Mother , She needed a blood transfuion & it was very difficuly with her viens ( she had just came out of a back surgery) they were so patient , compassion & assisting to my mother's pain Thank you Merci beaucoup surtout a Emilie :) Marisa Pas
Worst of worst. I understand language requirements in the province. But as a new immigrant who is not that proficient, they should be able to answer my question in English. IT IS MEDICAL CONDITION WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. I even asked for someone else who can answer my queries in English, but they straight up said no. I guess patient's health is not that important for them...
(Translated) A hospital you said? It's just a building with people who are disrespectful to the human being. 15h waiting before being taken into account without any information ... we were 15 people "young, old ..." to sleep on a chair from 18h in the evening to 9am in the morning to wait for the doctor. A lack of respect really does not give me a good image of this city which unfortunately deserves to be visited.

I inspected all the mattresses with a flashlight and found absolutely nothing. Everything is new anyway. All that to get rid of work, they are pitiful. Not to mention the cafeteria that serves food in plates and distributes utensils for single use ?? It's irresponsible of their shares when before.

(Translated) Exercise mat in cardiology. If the secretarial staff is welcoming, we will switch to the medical staff. The technician and the doctor seem to want to be somewhere else. The doctor was not from the new Notre Dame. Cold comments, detached, torn away by questions. A little more and I left without knowing anything about the report. Patient experience not badly missed. Quite the opposite of three years ago at the CHUM Hôtel-Dieu, with a marathon technician and a cycling doctor passionate about physical activity. (Original) Tapis à l'effort en cardiologie. I have been in many many hospitals in my life, but have never gotten such fast and great attention as here. Live entertainment outside my room right now and a Christmas festival coming up. Never done anything like this before. As much as being not well, it's been a great experience.????????????
(Translated) I came in emergency with the paramedic because my pregnant wife vomited something that could look like blood. I even took a sample of the substance in a tube. On the phone we are told to eat nothing ect that it is not normal worried and to wait for an expertise before taking something. My wife has nothing in the belly since morning is now 17 pm we have been waiting for almost 4 hours and no one came to see us. The nurse told us that my wife could try to eat against the prescription of the other by mentioning us but if she vomited came to see me. So she prefers that we try the devil without knowing and when I confronts her on her retails me I am nurse not doctor. We have to wait for the doctor ok but we wait what we are told that it is worrisome then made the vital signs are not reached so it's good but if it feels bad to say it is the case since 1 hj waits for the to signal in front of a door the person has just come out telling me after all his explanations to wait again. So if you are not afraid to wait without knowing what you have or what you expect go there (Original) Je suis venue en urgence avec les paramedic car ma femme enceinte a vomi quelque chose qui pourrait ressembler a du sang.
