REVIEWS OF Victoria Hospital IN Batoche

My wife was in severe pain and waited more than 5 hours. I hope the nurses and receptionists will learn how to talk to patients and visitors because they are representing the hospital, not themselves. We were respectful and were treated with no respect. They are supposed to help people, not to be heartless.

Excellent care by staff in preop and post op. OR staff was very helpful and explained my procedure. Dr Barry MCMILLAN is outstanding. Very grateful. Thank you!

ER department is ridiculous. patient comes in with likely testicular torsion and he waits for over an hour. he could lose the testicle in that time. nurses do not know how to triage.

Upon arrival, I was checked in and had an x-ray on my ankle within 20mins.. Now for the waiting game... They claim 3-4hr wait time. I waited 7hours... Some people around me even more so. Sad really... Watching many leave as they needed care.. Sitting next to people with no social distancing. Not much air ventilation at all. Very hot and wearing the mask for 7hours. Receptionist staff playing video games for hours on computer, reading etc. They don't have better things to do while being paid?? They were also so rude to many patients. Especially when people asked about their wait times.. or people with language barriers. They need more training in customer service. Treat people with respect. They don't care about you at all. The doctor however was nice and explained everything to me when I finally got in! Also apologized for the long wait time... Thank you for that at least!

Cecilia was one of the nicest nurses I have ever met, aswell a all the other nurses make your short stay very pleasant and they take good care of everyone ???? ❤ Thank you for making me feel like home ????

Outpatient Orthopedic Department is so backed up and behind. Had two separate appointments for my daughter both booked for 10:30 am was 5 hours waiting in total and 6.5 hrs the next. Come prepared bring a snack book and a drink for your child because you will miss at least one meal out of your day waiting to be called. X ray department fairly quick but after that be prepared to wait wait and wait some more aweful service. Pleasant staff and lots of doctors and residents could use a manager keeping things moving instead of 7 employees standing in a hall chatting while exam rooms are full and waiting areas are packed. Definately not a staff shortage cant blame Doug Ford for that department needs direction to keep things more prompt. I was told blame Doug Ford for the wait lmfao there was no lack of staff that's for sure.

Thank you to every doctor, nurse, therapist, social worker, and pretty much every single person who works at this hospital! You made me have a great stay, and although I only remember a little bit of it, what I can physically remember it was nothing but courteous, kindness, and caring staff looking out for my best interest! My stay there was in the OR, ICU, and then recovery up on the 9th floor and although I only remember the latter of the 3, I know I can only remember it BECAUSE of the work the staff did in the first 2 areas. To those who are bashing Victoria, I get it, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. So in my personal opinion, when I look at some of the 1 star reviews there are a couple that you can't argue with. But seeing a couple made me scratch my head and wonder, was it really the hospital? Or is it maybe just you. I see a couple people who leave 1 star reviews leave generalized reviews, and of those who do leave these reviews, they ONLY leave 1 and 2 star reviews at places. Sad. So in my opinion, yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion, whether it be from their personal experience or their personalities. But to argue that the staff doesn't care, they're rude, and they make you wait is beyond me why common sense doesn't click in at this point! It's a hospital, they prioritize the most severe and life threatening injuries first, and things like a sprain wrist can wait. If you were in their shoes, would you save someone that's bleeding uncontrollably vs someone who has a sprained ankle? It's because of people like those who leave the 1 star reviews that the staff have to deal with what they have to on a daily basis. They saved my life, I was in a coma for a week, I was having a blood clot in my brain and was unconscious, and they saved my life. I wouldn't be leaving this review (as argumentative and controversial as it may be to some) without the staff there. So you had to wait an extra hour, they don't know what's going to come through that door! And because there are people like you it makes their jobs a lot harder. For the people they save, they only see them until they leave the hospital, they don't know how they do after that. They deal with negativity all day, whether it be from patients who are rude to them, or just the physical and mental state of patients who are admitted into the hospital. They go through a h**l of a lot of stuff that the people who left the 1 star reviews probably can't bare to watch if it was in a movie or video game. I know those who hate this hospital wont see this, but I only leave this for the staff at Victoria. And even though I am aware they know there are people out there that will hate everything, or they have their reasons to be upset at Victory Hospital, I only wanted to leave this review because I feel, in my own opinion, it may be something that "everyone" is thinking. To summarize, the staff are nice and courteous, and some of the patients there that they deal with on a daily basis are rude and mirror their own personalities onto the staff there, and then leave a review on Google, because that's going to solve things.

There serious HR issues at this hospital that have resulted in injury and potentially death of patients in their care. They do not keep proper records and there needs to be an internal investigation by the health authority resulting in serious disciplinary action. There are Doctors and nurses working here that need to have their licenses permanently revoked.

Brandi Johnstone

Not going here again the doctors are racist and rude. Talking about a patient behind their back and laughing at them. That doesn’t sound professional to me. Not to mention the waiting time. There was a person that was there since 2 am and we just got out. I will not recommend this place for anyone.

O A

Worst service ever, from everyone. Terrible doctors every single time i go to the emergency i get the worst service ever and longest waiting hours. I could not breath because i had an asthma attack and i had to wait for hours suffocating. Went to pay the ambulance bill and refused to take my slip. Disgusting. Change your methods, i hope i move out of london so I won't have to go to that "hospital" again.

Ethan Ziltener

Bring a book. They will make you wait no matter what. And they don’t care. Good luck.

I’m from the GTA and I’ve been to A LOT of hospitals. This hospital is fantastic, they triage properly and they are extremely through. My partner fell 20ft and broke both feet, they took incredible care of him at LHSC during his entire visit. Dr. Sanders is an incredible surgeon and his team really take their work seriously. Shout out to the lovely nurses on the Ortho/Trauma Recovery Floor, keep up the good work. ????????????????

Great place to get a broken leg tended too. I highly recommend the orthopaedic clinic for that.

I was told to be there with my son for 8:15am for his cast removal. I even arrived 10 minutes early. After waiting extremely patiently for OVER AN HOUR and watching 11 OTHER PEOPLE who ARRIVED AFTER US get called before us, finally I had to raise my voice and make a scene just to be seen right away, because apparently speaking poliety and asking a half hour before that got me absolutely nowhere. Absolutely horrible service. I've been to some pretty bad hospitals but this one takes the cake. Unbelievable! Please get organized.

sandy chase

What a horrible hospital. I waited 7 hrs to be seen and never was seen, so I left. Horrible unprofessional staff. They don't care about people is what I felt like. I watched 7 hrs of it and patients coming out saying don't waste your time their useless. Next time I'm going to drive to St. Thomas where they actually have some respect for patients. Don't waste you time at this hospital.. FYI I finally got help at another location and it's pretty serious.

Spent the last night and day all day today on b4. I have never seen such great care provided or such amazing Drs and nurses who were so caring and prompt. They took such amazing care of my family member. This is an amazing wing and the staff here all go above and beyond. Especially the RN Suzanne. She was great and answered all of our questions and concerns and wad so warm and personable she made us feel like family. Great job everyone on this wing! You are a cut above!

Was in emerg for 24 hrs in serious condition. The night nurse told me she was going on break and asked if I would like a Timmy's tea when she came back. I said yes and attempted to pay but she smiled and said not to worry. They kept me in the loop letting me know the results of my ABGs, and other labs. Once I stabilized I was transfered to the floor. Again on the floor I received excellent care. The medical staff was respectful and continued with followup consults after discharge. I have had some negative experiences in emerg. Actually walking out and getting driven to St Thomas where i ended up being treated and eventually having surgery a few days later in london. For the most part I don't use our emerg depts as a walkin clinic. I go when I am seiously or critically ill. Most times I never wait to be seen or treated. The staff at LHSC have saved my life numerous times over the yrs. The staff at Uh campus saved my life in 99. Medicine and nursing is a tough job. Patients and families are sometimes abusive physically and more often verbally towards staff. Being on both sides of the stretcher I have experienced the best of Londons healthcare. We are very fortunate to have a world class hospital in our city. Healthcare has become more complex with less resources over the yrs.

This is the worst hospital i have ever been to.i have been there twice one time with sever burns on my hand as well as tonight for my left leg an never seen a doctor at all an the nurses all they do is stand or sit around an talk just because someone they knew came in an 20 min later she was in to see the doctor .for my burn on my hand i had travelled to st catharines ont an had it looked at within 20 min it pretty bad when you have to travel outside youre own city to see a doctor in a respectable time an manner

Mark Alfieri

After a pretty bad thursday night it all went well. The staff was over worked and clearly moving real fast. They managed despite the pressure but someone needs to fire the cater company the food was awful. The nurses students doctors were outstanding i thank them all and porters too

Mark Conlon

I was at Emergency this weekend. The wait time was small , under an hour. The staff were understanding as I was in acute distress. The Dr Sendrik (not sure of spelling) in the emergency area was kind and effective with me as too were the nurses. The small downside was the first point of contact which was somewhat abrupt. I have seen this before with the first line of support people. Thank you all for your support this day.

My Friday experience was not good. I went in with breathing problems and was basically ignored for 6 hours. I know they were busy. There were many broken bones and some people were screaming from their beds. It must have been a full moon. I did get a referral to an allergist , for a year and a half from now. There were really no follow up instructions. The clinic across from Victoria hospital prescribed a steroid inhaler on Monday and I am finally feeling relief. Why could I not have received that Friday night? I can now breathe with ease and am not choking on my food. I am so disillusioned with our health care system.

jesse gruber

I went in with a VERY bad hangover and severe stomach pain and was made to wait four hours just for a fluids drip and anti nausea medication. I was told I couldn’t eat or drink because I might need surgery until I was so dehydrated I thought I’d pass out, as well as being told to shut up by one of the nurses when i was screaming in pain because I was “scaring the other patients.” I will never come to this hospital again.

Flyte Ramsay

A majority of the staff are friendly, security guards are often eye candy, which is nice when you're a psych patient stuck for days in a bed. The mental health programs aren't too bad, but you've gotta take what you can get. I reccomend it I guess. Medical is pretty good as well. Rather understanding.

Vivien Myslivcová

Not good but it's a very old building so it's almost like a museum :)

Mariana M.

The nurses and doctor that saw me in ER triage were very caring and knowledgeable. Made me feel comfortable and safe. Thank you for all you do.

The waiting period is long. I would recommend seeing YOUR family doctor rather than visiting the hospital. Could be a LONG wait for NO REASON.

George Diavolitsis

Went to visit my mom at emergency after suffering a head injury at work. It’s nice to know that staff like to take their time and are NOT very helpful. After an hour we were taken into a certain room, then we were taken back out into the waiting room only to hear that it would be a 6 hour wait, and that all the staff behind the counter were just laughing and chatting with each other. When we asked to see a doctor sooner (due to a potential serious head injury) the lady got mad because she had to walk around the counter to speak with us and with a very rude voice saying another 6 hours. So we just left and my mom went to another hospital the next morning where she was treated right away. I do give one star because we were treated very nicely by a nurse who registered my mom and helped in anyway she could, however she left after a while and we never saw her to thank her as she did what she could to help.

Good place for birth delivery. Everything in maternity department is clean and well maintained. Staffs, nurses and doctors work professionally. Really satisfied and highly recommended.

They were even rude and condescending with me on the phone.

Awesome Limited

Great care, HORRIBLE waits. Over an hour to be discharged on a slow day. I know it's because half the people come in with a cold but then just let them go don't hold em.

Very comforting!

What kind of sick money hungry grinches would stop an organization from giving kids a gift in their most dire need? Will never go to Victoria hospital again.

Joseph Black

The nurses are awesome, they really go out of their way to help you. And to understand your condition. Now the doctors they're a bit different. Even if they don't know what they're talking about. they really believe what they talking about. I will add more at a later date. We will talk some more about doctor,s.

Pierrette Junkala

My husband has been admitted at this hospital on NUMEROUS occasions....dont fool yourself into thinking that this hospital or any other one for that matter care for your loved ones....at the end of the day these government workers paid by your tax dollars get paid their salaries regardless on how well they take care of you...or not...this medical system is reminiscent of the old Soviet style way of doing thing....there are no incentives for doing better so they do the minimal work for maximum return...maybe it's time to rethink how these civil servants are paid in this profession...

Good research hospital! Very thankful they offer services that aren't available in Windsor.

Nurses lost my chart twice during an emergency visit, while waiting in emergency department -- Surgery was done promptly afterwards. Dr. Powers and his staff were amazing!! (Dr. Powers and his staff are the only reason this isn't a 2 star rating) If possible, go elsewhere for emergency services.

Gbenga Adejare

Though always very busy, the service here is commendable.

Have had such great experiences with the children's side of emerge. Every time we have had to go we were treated fairly. Yes, there are long wait times but take that up with the goverenment. The front line hospital staff does control this, either does administration.

There is a nurse who works there by the Name Sian Kilkenny, she has been harassing myself and using slander on her public platforms. This have been going on for years and is still going on. Very unprofessional individual.

Could not expect more from this Emergency department. I read reviews before coming in and I'm pleasantly surprised to say I have not encountered any nasty nurses. It's 6 am but the nurses are friendly and attentive. Everyone is matter of fact here but in my opinion, that is precisely what moves the process along. It took approximately ten minutes for them to get my information, give me a bracelet and send me to triage. After answering a few questions they lead me into a room to wait to be seen. Yes I waited 20-30 minutes for a doctor but that's about the shortest wait I've ever had for emergency care. Again, I cannot stress enough how kind the nurses here are. After some initial checkups, the doctor let me know he would be calling a specialist and I may have to go to another hospital to see them. He asked if I would be alright to get there on my own. I cried during my check up from pain and the doctor apologized! I've met some pretty cool and kind medical staff before but usually there is a mix of rude people too. Not today! TL;DR I'm lucky to have been treated quickly and with kind bedside manner. I did call ahead of time to ask if there were many people ahead of me (they don't give wait times over the phone) and even the lady who answered was pleasant and not annoyed with my call. Very clean place, well organized, and very well staffed. Thank you Victoria Hospital ❤️

London is so fortunate & blessed to have this wonderful hospital. I have had a few visits here throughout my life, thankfully I was taken care of by such kind, intelligent & caring people who were well trained and skilled at their job! For all the sickness that enters the building, the hospital and staff keep it extremely sanitary and clean - taking all precautions necessary. Hand sanitizer dispensers are everywhere. The facility is filled with state of the art equipment to ensure patients get the best possible healthcare. The doctors and nurses here are phenomenal people who care so much about their job and the people they help. Hospitals can be scary places, but Victoria Hospital does its very best to make it feel like a warm & happy environment. There are lots of colourful murals, paintings and wall paintings that provide an uplifting positive feeling while walking through. Many computers and tv's are available throughout the hospital in waiting areas for patients and guests to occupy and entertain themselves with.

LONDON HEALTH SCINCE CENTRE ( VICTORIA HOSPITAL ) AND LONDON POLICE SERVICE TOOK BLOOD FROM ME WITHOUT MY ACCEPTENCE. I SENT COMPLAINT TO PATIENT RELATION AND SENT EMAIL TO THE VICTORIA HOSPITAL PRESIDENT BUT THEY DID NOT ANSWER YET. ONE YEAR BEFORE THAT THEY PUSHED ME, HIT ME AND PUT ME IN THE FORM FOR NO REASON TO JAILED ME IN THE HOSPITAL. IT IS SO SCARY TO BE THERE AND BECAUSE OF THEM I WILL NEVER ATTANED IN ANY HOSPITAL IN CANADA BECAUSE THEY DO NOT FOLLOW THE RULES AND NOT SAFE PLACE.

Reception/front bubble nurses were extremely rude. Belittling, condescending, and judgemental. Doctor was excellent. Security also didn't give AF what was happening. Allowing people to smoke near ER entrance yet yelling at me for standing when there were NO CHAIRS available...

Danielle “Dani” Michielle

I felt it was necessary to visit the emerg in the middle of the night because I feared things couldn't wait until the morning. It was about 4am and pretty quite, not many people waiting. Besides waiting at the front desk in plain site (hence the one star down rating) for nearly 5mins listening to one attendant chatting it up, giggling a lot during a phone convo that had been passed over by another attendant that rather than acknowledging my existence walked over to a desk and sat down at the computer instead of spending the 8seconds to tell me to go to triage I had a great experience. The wait time for non-emergency written on the board was 3-4hrs, which I was not considered "an emergency case" by no means however I was out within 2.5hrs to my surprise! I've had a similar issue in regards to my need for urgent care though years ago and again, due to the low emergency nature I opted to visit the urgent care clinic at St. Joes hospital the last time, rather than the emergency room at Victoria hospital. I required help due to basically what most would consider, a self inflicted problem (piercing) and I went in expecting to be treated the same way I was years before at the urgent care clinic which left me a bit traumatized to this day. They had literally ripped the piercing jewelry through my face rather than taking it apart (unscrewing a small threaded ball). In doing it caused me to (tmi, sorry) bleed a lot (pour out), which made caused me to become even more swollen added unnecessary pain on top of what I was already experiencing and left me for the remainder of the day very disoriented from knowing what had just been done. I now have a permanent and prominent scar on my face that is forever reminds me of that every time I look in the mirror. They treated me with no humanly respect, were not simpathetic in any sense of the word and continuously reminded me that it was completely my fault. All around bad a experience that made me scared to go to professionals again with a similar instance. Today, happily was not the case, very opposite actually. I was taken back to the room to speak with doctor and a nurse, they were very understanding, they didn't make me feel as if this was self inflicted at all, they were very nice and did their best to resolve the situation without any judgement. I told my nurse that I feared coming in that morning because of my experience before and even thanked her for not making me feel bad for my decision that led me there that day. Her response was refreshing! She calmly replied telling me theres nothing wrong with self identification and what we do in that aspect is our personal decision. I just want to say thank you for the non-judgment treatment I received today!

Hadisa Homayoun

Came to Emergency, and felt like a human being for the first time in such a situation. Dr. Mason Leschyna and his nurses were so quick and on point with dealing with the situation. I am very impressed with Victoria Hospital. They didn’t just let me lie there and suffer (unlike every other hospital I have ever been to In Ontario). They were attentive. They were moving around in a system. It was like watching a TV show, where things were actually getting done... whatever this emergency department is doing, I hope they continue to do so, and others learn from their system.

Mandy Kee

Amazing Healthcare Professionals The staff are caring and offer the best medical help and services as possible. The wait time is and can be danting completely unexceptable The hospital can become and react full copasite. All bed taken and being used. It's not fun and sad. It's in dier need of more space they need an expansion and is under funded and over due for increases in funding more need to be given. We have the very best people in Health Care and citizens that are intitled to proper conditions and a healthy environment. It needs to be corrected addressed and it then will be able serve the community and the people they way it's intended and suppose to be. Not to mention our healthcare professionals, personal, workers should have a proper what's is supposed to be in place and implemented work environment, space, place. You can feel the effect on all levels. Definately not at full potential or at its proper standard or are they able to give the standard of care they are wanted to give and provide.

I had very bad experience with these machines employees for my 3rd baby delivery.victoria hospital forced my wife(because she already got severe pain for delivery)to take Woodstock hospital to london children's Victoria hospital because 1 week early due date.then after delivery (baby fine with right weight etc) they told us to wait there for 36 hours.then every 4 hour poke our baby toe to check blood sugar level.every time check shows above level(2.7)last time shows 2.4.for that they told us to stay until to check our baby sugar level raise up.for this 36 hours period too many poke for various blood work check, every time my baby loose lots of lots of blood some times they took blood in the tube(note:new born baby)then how come my baby blood level stay normal.and these 2 days my wife not eat well, only ate tim Hortons egg muffin.they didn't allowed me to go home to bring proper good food to hospital because of covid-19 safety.then how my baby get proper breast feed.and after baby born first 36 hours,it's the time to start coming milk from breast but these machines employees without giving break keep on poking my baby toe for blood check.every drop of blood,my baby loose lots of energy.then finally we asked them,we are leaving,we will take care our baby in home better than you guys, then they forced us and threatened us to stay there.(I think he's doctor name tony I think (not sure he's from NICU unit)but my wife stubborn and scared of this management to continuous request leave from this hell, finally they asked us to signed the paper and let us go.after we came home my wife ate proper healthy food and less than 12 hours baby breast feed good and my wife breast milk good,my wife stress free, now my baby blood sugar level( 4.1).these Victoria children's hospital employees are just a machines.they don't have common sense,no experience sense nothing.what computer says blindly follow that.they are not doctors, nurses.they are machines.i have much more experience than these people's how to take care baby with common sense experience.this place is for children's experiment lab not hospital.im not blaming all doctors and nurses.some of the nurses and doctors are very good attitude with knowledgeable and professional.im complaining only few of them who force us to stay there and they planned to give wrong treatment to my baby.thank god my wife and nature helped our baby.thank you

Security took my knapsack and removed my phone charger. Low and behold it is missing in action. The security here are nothing but thieves this time and in the past. I know quite a few people who have accused them of theft. Also as a person forced there under the psychiatric act? I am always mistreated by the nurses and told by doctors there is no help for me, or, if you are suicidal this is no place for you , or, there is nothing we can do for you. The mental health act in London and especially Victoris Hospital are only here if you are a woman. There are all kinds of help for women but absolutely nothing for men. Even a doctor agreed with me. Victoris hospital always had a bad reputation in the old building and now I notice it has continued in the new building. Time for get new administrators there and remove all the old useless ones. I have posted videos of the hospital holding cells for psych patients and you'd be appauld by the treatment and facilities they put you in.

my crazy life

I found 90% of the staff to be rude and uncompassionate . They should definitely not be working with people . one man with missing fingers had been waiting an extremely long time and when he asked about it got screamed at .and a pregnant woman sounded like she was having a miscarriage they parked her in the corner and didn't care about her. Yet he pregnant woman that worked there made a big deal about her being pregnant because she couldn't push an injured person in a wheelchair and screamed at him because of it. if I hadn't pretty much insisted that they did the test because of family history they would have been happy to send me home where I probably would have died

Unfortunately we have had to use the services of the hospital. However this is a top notch hospital, very clean. All the staff are over worked, but so friendly and professional. I can't say enough about this hospital. They all need a raise. May you all stay safe.

You are better off driving to Shellbrook or Saskatoon you will get in a lot quicker and that’s including the drive the wait is so long even if your an ER patient which should be quickly gotten to but isn’t. You will turn 100 before getting in to see a doctor

Went here after falling through a window. Sliced my leg open very bad. Had glass protruding I had begged for an x ray but they were in a rush? they gave me stitches in the hallway In between 2 other patients in stretchers for other issues 1 was an older woman who had heart problems I'm sure she didn't want to hear me screaming or see all that blood. I got 30+ stitches and sent home no antibiotics or pain killers. No follow up appointment or anything. Throughout the months I felt very bad leg pain. Only to call they said oh it probably scar tissue that's what its hard and scar tissue hurt sometimes when it heals ok wait a bit longer. So i went to urgent care 3 months later to find out i have a 2 inch piece glass still stuck in my leg. I called the hospital and the walk in said they could fax you the info. You said no and to come in we can look at it. I came in with a piece of glass sticking out of my leg that urgent care tried to remove from your mistake and u said 8+ hours to wait. I was in so much pain and so frustrated I came home and had my dad pull the glass from my leg with pliers. Also came in with extreme foot pain with glass in my foot did get an x ray for that it showed 3 peices of glass you removed 1 because the other ones were too deep? Stitched me up and sent me home with glass still in me? No antibiotics again? I went to urgent care to get a prescription. So just waiting for the pain to return and need to be sliced open again. You also sent my mom home and she ended up in ICU at university hospital. Glad I can still walk. Glad my mom is alive. 0 stars. If i could. Understaffed overworked and underpaid is a sad mix when they are suppose to be trying to keep us alive. I pray it gets better. And everyone else who has had bad experiences found help and is ok. To the nurses with care an compassion whom also have very tired hearts I'm sure who still show up to work and do a great job you're not forgotten and I applaud you. (The nurses skip their breaks to help out more same with some Dr's I've overheard many things its sad).

Emergency Wait time is 9 hours I gave up after waiting 7 hours the line is not moving and people in pain suffering .I went home.I can't believe this is happening in Canada.

Reception is quite rude and unfortunately wait times are really long. So if you can wait, go to St Joes Clinic or a walk in.

My first time going. My baby had the croup, they were very fast and informative with everything. The nurses and even reception treated me nicely. So far so good! ????

Worst staff….worst customer service at Emergency. They don’t treat all human equally. They think people are free and come here for entertainment. Spent 13 hours waiting and not even called. I could clearly see racism at this Hospital. TREAT ALL PATIENTS EQUALLY without their race.

My wife was sent to emergency by her family doctor do to extreme abdominal pain . Emergency staff ran test and found a mass in her abdomen .they admitted her and said the doctors would run more tests to find out what it is and what coarse of action should be taken .the nurses were amazing and we loved them . The doctors did nothing but try to send her home .the pain my wife is in and her blood sugar going from high to low several times (she is a type 1 diabetic) meant nothing to them. They didn't run any test. My wife has liver disease and the doctor told her to take Tylenol for the pain .what a joke. I run a successful company here in London because I care about my customers and go above and beyond for them .these doctors don't care at all and they deal with human life .I bet if it was their wife they would find out what the mass is and fix it .What a terrible way to treat people . The two stars is only becauseb of the nurses, they deserve 5 stars .

My sister had the worse experience at this hospital giving birth. She tested positive for COVID_19, and the nurse wanted her to leave the hospital less than 24hours after the C-section, without the car seat. She told her that we were bringing the car seat in the morning, and the nurse wanted her to take a cab at 9 pm and said she could go without a car seat. They mistreated her; they refused to give her food after surgery, saying that the food section was closed. The nurses were so mean to her, and I pray no one will experience this. She felt like she was a criminal at athe hospital.

Worst hospital ever......was there yesterday for 5 hours, and didn't get seen at all. Oh ya I arrived in an ambulance thinking I had a medical emergency (I did). I lay there in excruciating pain for hours, the attendent came in every hour or so, just to say "we're backed up right now, a doctor will see you when they can." Little did they know I was also backed up and in so much pain. It was 525, and arrived at 1230. I thought hey people like myself don't matter to much in this city. Also another time Dr. Oleksinski accused me of being an intervenis drug user, now that was a slap in the face. So if you want to be degraded and have the crappiest health care in your life then yes I would recommend this hospital. Beware if you are native, thier not so friendly to most of us either.

Brayden Terpstra

The worse hospital I've ever been to. I waited 6 hours in er the other day for my high blood pressure just to find out I'm "fine". Go to university or st Joseph's if u need "real" help. They've been great unlike this waste of a hospital.

Having surgery on General Surgery on the 9th floor...I was so happy with the care given me from Dr Gray and his residents, the nursing staff assigned to me Kent, Brandon, Lena (who was able to order my hot lemon and honey for my mornings) Janice & Andrea, and PSW Lucy who bathed and rubbed my back...Such care to even take the time to truly ask how I was feeling, always giving positive thoughts... Victoria Hospital on the whole from information, clinic, pre op and staff are so positive and friendly...thank you once again....Ann Hucke

Unless there is absolutely no choice, do not go there. Massive lineups at admitting, surly staff once you get there. Just can’t understand why no one is cross trained to fill in and help backlog of patients in line to register. Every time I leave this place I am seething.

Dayzee pettepiece

waited in er for hours on 2 separate days with breathing problems. first day they called it anxiety 2nd day they had me wait 6 hours just to refer me to the next day. no chest scans nothing to help a person who's afraid they might not wake up again because they're breathing thru a straw.

My wife and I have spent many days here for operations, cancer and various other illnesses, we both have the greatest respect for the nurses, doctor's, porter staff and anyone else that works at the hospital such as sanitation engineer's, and office staff etc etc. We have always been treated with the most professional service and upmost care and understanding, Victoria Hospital is one of the best of many great hospitals in London

Awful place! Went into emergency there with my mom who has hypertension. She was told by a wonderful walk-in clinic doctor that if her blood pressure went over a certain point to go to emergency. It was 235/115 when we went there and they finally brought her in after an hour and a half. They took her blood pressure again and it was the same, actually it had risen. They gave her nothing to bring it down! She could have had a heart attack. Finally the doctor came in and basically told her she shouldn’t have come in and that the walk-in doctors just have a habit of sending people to the ER for no reason. They released her after four hours and still not giving her anything to bring her blood pressure down! What an awful place! Health care might be free, but it is terrible at least at Victoria Hospital! My mom could have died that night and I would have blamed that ER. Would give this a negative if I could.

I'm writing this review almost after 1 year of giving birth. I had the most amazing team of doctors and nurses helping me give birth. I would love to thank 2 nurses in particular as I remember them attending to me twice. Suzanne and Cynthia were 2 people I simply can't forget. God bless them especially for taking such good care of me and my daughter. In fact the nurses were so kind and helpful, I felt they treated me like a family member. I'm really grateful for the support your team provided me on April 19th &20th, 2020.

Their children's hospital zone b all departments and doctors are amazing I spent time with my son in the nicu as well as the 5th floor . Ronald mac Donald house right on the wing was helpful. My problem is the emerge.my son had troubles breathing they sent him home once and the next time we waited from 11 pm to 4 am to see a doctor.my son was very ill and they were letting kids that were running around playing go in before him saying they were" more urgent.... " didn't know a 9 month old with a lung condition at birth having breathing problems was just a walk in the park .. next time I need him seen immediately I'll be sure to get him running around playing and make sure he seems perfectly healthy... then maybe I can wait less then 5 hours in the middle of the night with my sick child

Was here for both my labours+births, the first time I came was nice and the second was ok. Good doctors, listened to me too - my only complaint would be is during my 24 hour stay after birth they wouldn’t let me sleep. Had my son at 1am and he didn’t sleep till 7am (5 min here and there) after he finally slept I tried and they started coming in every 10 minutes (about 12 times) waking me and the baby up till I started balling my eyes out from how tired I was.

With mine and my son's issues we have had mostly good experiences with drs, nurses and other team members. There are a few bad apples - some nasty nurses especially - that make an already crappy day even crappier. To those nurses I hope they realize their attitudes can change the experience of your patients and that it's not like your patients want to be there but feel they need to be or do need to. Most team members treat their patients the way they would like their own family to be treated. There is a lot of disorganization and run around at times which can lead to long waits and sometimes overlapping care but overall LHSC is where I want myself and/or family to be if they have to.

Well spent 8+ hours having chest pain and crazy heart rate. Was left in a chair in the back to sit. Another lady had a broken leg and was there for just as long without any pain meds. Watched another guy pass out beside me. Nurse says well saw that coming...Yet did nothing before hand? Still having heart problems but just came home because unless you are moments from death or dead you are not going to be seen. Free healthcare for you I guess.

Zack Smithson

It's not the staff's fault, but going in with a very deep cut and having to wait four hours with a load of police and addicts high off their mind (once was walking around wearing only his medical robe...!) was not a pleasant experience

vishines varghese

If any emergency dont go. You need to wait more than 3 hours, may be 5 to 6hours. No care for patients.

Excellent. I chopped my leg with a machete, deep enough to cut out an artery, muscle etc. Bleeding out and sent to Victoria Hospital. Clean, courteous, professional, and the doctors that patched me up were amazing. I actually enjoyed the experience it was just so good though I would not want to repeat. DR. ROB Leeper, vascular surgeon and his team really second to none. My stitches looking they are machine made they are so precise, gave me a great room, best service. Actually embarrassing that after doing something so stupid to myself there was so much care. Wow. Anyone says we don't have the best medical in the world, I'm not so sure. I just don't have anything bad to say. How many business can you say that about. Thanks guys...your the best

I've come to this hospital occasionally for emergency services, and I was seen by Dr. Chamberlain for a specific disease. I had to launch a formal complaint to the hospital against Dr. Chamberlain for he was invariably one hour late in seeing me after the appointed time. It drove me up the wall, and he knew it, as I have told him over and over again how much it bothered me... it did not make an iota of difference in his tardiness. Other doctors: I was in for a consultation about a hydrocele, and the doctor made me wait 3 hours. Sets of patients were called in every half hour from the waiting room, only I was left behind. I felt really bad. I went home after three hours, despite the polite but but pronounced protestation by the service staff (reception). FYI, the hydrocele subsided and went away in five years, by itself, without treatment. I went to the emergency department on several occasions, and they treated me well, people were polite, helpful and aside from very long wait times, I could not complain about the service and treatment. I would give this hospital a five star rating, except that they really, but really must become more considerate and not stretch their patients' patience to beyond the breaking point. I don't know why they do this... I chalk it up to greed by the doctors who do not want to waste even a minute without charging OHIP for fees, so they call in more patients per time period than what they can handle, fearing some patients may not show and there would be idle time with no earnings made.

First off, I would like to address the parking and the parking rates. We have 3 children 1 and under. We have a double stroller for our 4 week old twins, and a single stroller for our 1 year old. We had to park about 2 blocks away from our entrance that we had to go through to get to the orthopedic outpatient clinic. It was absolutely freezing, and there was no parking for expectant mothers or families with children. Just all wheel chair accessible parking closer to the entrances. We were at the hospital for about 2 and a half hours, paid $10 !!!! Who ever comes up with these rates should be ashamed of themselves. Parking for patients should be FREE! Now for my review on the hospital and the doctors itself. I have been to this hospital not just for the orthopedic clinic but as well for when I was pregnant with my twins. Instead of making patients feel comfortable and relaxed... It's more of a feeling of being researched and experimented. Like your their test subject. Some of the comments a doctor said make you believe are they actually doing what's in the best interest for you or your children? I did not feel that what so ever. I would much rather go to Windsor and have them take care of me and my children. We are from Leamington, so the drive itself is long. We do not feel like sitting in a waiting room for hours on end and not seeing the specialist we are intending to see at our appointment time. Honestly every single time we have came we left with unanswered questions and an emptied tank of gas, hours wasted, stressed out babies and us being exhausted ... Not worth it.

Post partum nurses completely lack any sort of respect for patients needing rest. Loud. Crass. Rammy and completely disrespectful of the healing mother. One would think it would be policy to whisper and not shout.

Check-in staff tends to be quite snobby, and some dr’s and staff treat you like a pay check rather than with human compassion

Spent upwards of 6 hrs here just to get antibiotics for a kidney infection. Waited in emergency, then waited in the exam room, then waited some more outside of the room. Nurses are professional just not at all motivated.

My wife has delivered both of our children at this hospital. She also had emergency gall bladder surgery there. This hospital has been very good to my family and I. I can’t help but feel a lot of the negative reviews are people that have solely visited the ER. I’ve not been to a single hospital ever in Ontario that has a quick and very efficient ER department for whatever the reason. Victoria hospital has always been a positive experience for me even when dealing with bad medical situations. I was very thankful for the great care given to my wife and newborn children from all of the staff.

Our family had an awful experience with the emergency staff and a resident doctor, Chen, in the Early Pregnancy Assesment Unit this week. After excessive bleeding and a trip to emergency at 13 weeks pregnant, we waited 5 hours to see a doctor. We were then referred to the EPAU They told us our pregnancy was going to be 'unsuccessful' without even looking at our updated blood work or doing an ultrasound which we were referred for. She quickly realized she hadn't read the information properly and left to get the doctor who also seemed confused about why we were there. Totally unprofessional and detrimental to our first pregnancy experience. Thank goodness the baby is okay.

This didn’t seem like Canada! The worst hospital. 9 hr wait, 2 hrs wait inside then they told us they have shift us to different hospital as they wanna treat some other patient before us. Intentional student paid for visit i m sure would have received a thousand times better service back home with 5% charged here.

I recently had a stay at Victoria Hospital. I was brought in for testing and ultimately had to have surgery. The ER was amazing right from triage to every nurse and doctor I dealt with. The first area I was moved to was also amazing. Caring staff, very clean and all of my needs were met. The second area I stayed at I had the best nurse I’ve ever experienced. She was kind and knowledgeable. She understood the strain of the emotions I was experiencing given my personal situation and the heavy Covid restrictions. I had nothing but exemplary care from the entire team. Even then she stood out. Nurse Jennifer was not new to her profession but clearly has a very natural gift for caring. She did all of this with a sensitive sense of humour. The surgery team was incredible. My last stay for post op could have been described as a suite as far as a hospital goes. I was very well taken care of. This wasn’t my first stay at a hospital in my life. It was the best most consistent care I have ever received. I personally heard staff there take unkind words in stride and yet they still smiled and gave amazing care, even to people who were very hard to deal with. As far as I’m concerned they gave impossibly amazing care under super tough circumstances.

Bryce Jeffrey

I have been a patient at Victoria on two occasions. The first time was over 20 years ago and the last time was just last year. Pretty serious issues but the best part was the compassion and professionalism of the staff. All outcomes were positive and it was due to the skill of the staff of this fine institution. Thank you one and all.

Brittany Decaire

The ER staff (katie in particular ) was so caring and understanding The b tower nurses (andrea, shelby, sarah) were the true definition of the word nurses.Truly compassionate and hard working individuals , not just for one of there patients but all ,even when they were short staffed. Highly recommend this place for orthopedic surgery.above and beyond.

Everything went perfectly on my visit there. I saw some very nasty reviews, and I don't get it. The staff was so friendly and helpful, and yes, I had to wait almost 5 hours, but I mean that's normal in any where in the world you have to wait to be seen at an emergency room. And some people say that the nurses are usually chatting and not paying attention, I mean if you spend 5 hours or more waiting, you start looking at whatever it is that they are doing, but basically their job is to get you register and get you to triage, after that is not up to them if you have to wait or not. Si if they are chatting or whatever while you wait, that shouldn't be a problem since their job with you is already done.

All specialists here are Over Booked to maximize profits (obviously they get paid by cases). You are advised to arrive 15 min prior to your appointment, but you will never been seen until 45 min after your appointment time. Not mentioning you will be left in exam room for another 15min.. I guess that's good for the monopolized Impark to rip off your parking fee! Well the LHSC better get their share from Impart for being such close companies.

Very professional and clean hospital. Great staff. Food was very good. Nurses were attentive and caring. I was in for three days for cancer treatment. Went in Wednesday night and came out Friday at noon. I did however loose my leather jacket with my wallet in the pocket and have talked to staff and security and they are keeping an eye open for it. More concerned to get my personal information back. Security said this morning nothing found yet but to keep calling so I will. Keep up the good work there. To Hospital Administration...You have an exceptional staff and facility. The hospital found my coat. I had left it in a locker in CT area. Everything was still intact. I am a bit disappointed in the way my daughter got discharged from the hospital for sick children, after going through a spine surgery to correct her scoliosis. We got sent home even though we didnt think my daughter was ready to leave the hospital care. I was also disappointed that I was told that we wont have a nurse come to our house to change her dressing. How do they expect me to change it for her? I AM NOT A NURSE! ????????

The staff were excellent, very nice very caring but the speed of service and triage system arent the greatest. I spent 7+ hrs waiting for 7 stitches. Yes it was the middle of the night but still thats a long time to wait in pain and i dont know how bad peoples back pain was but i don't think they should of gone before me. Also if youre there all night there should be a snack or pillow. Something we all dont plan to go there. I only went since work related and i had to stick it out but no one even checked up on me until the doctor came. The staff are nice but i think they should be more aware of making sure everyone is ok and in the minimal amount of pain

I think that I can finally have sombody to listen to me here at victoria. I am hoping that I can move forward mentally and use the resources that are available to me to get better. My life is litteratly the movie inside out with some plot twists. I have alot of past trauma that I need to work through. But I still give the ER waiting room a 1 star this hospital is huge there is no reason for the waiting room to be that small. The next addition to this hospial ahould be a new emergency department.

Victoria Hospital, in London, Ontario, Canada, is a large teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Western Ontario. Along with University Hospital it is part of London Health Sciences Centre, which itself is the Lead Trauma Hospital of the Southwestern Local Health Integration Network. London's first hospital was housed in a log cabin on the military barracks at Victoria Park, constructed in 1838. The aging hospital was replaced in 1875 by the London General Hospital, constructed on a new site in the city's south end. Pressure on the new hospital from the city's growing population led to a much larger hospital being constructed adjacent to London General Hospital, which was renamed in 1899 for Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee. The hospital building was demolished and a larger building constructed on the same site in 1939, and three expansions were added up to 1967. The Victoria Hospital Corporation acquired a federally operated military hospital in 1977, along with 80 acres (32 ha) of land. The new site was gradually expanded and became Victoria Hospital Westminster Campus. On June 13, 2005, most patient services were transferred to the newly renamed Victoria Hospital while the original hospital was renamed South Street Hospital, and other services continued to be transferred to the new site over the next several years. South Street Hospital closed permanently in 2013 and was demolished later that year. Growth of the city led to hospital overcrowding in the late nineteenth century. The hospital added a small expansion in 1890, however it was clear that the building would not be adequate for the city's long-term needs. As Queen Victoria's diamond jubilee passed in 1897, the English monarch requested that all memorials of the event be dedicated to humanitarian purposes. The Queen's request and popularity presented an opportunity for the city to justify the cost of expanding the hospital. Throughout 1897–8, the City Council, local doctors, and public groups debated plans for construction of an expansion to the London General Hospital, or construction of a new hospital, and whether to expand on the current site or obtain land for a new hospital. In June 1898, after an election and much debate, City Council approved construction of a new 140-bed facility on the same site, at a cost of $70,000, with a plan to convert the existing hospital to a nurses' residence. Victoria Hospital officially opened on November 16, 1899. Rooms in the new hospital's private ward were furnished by local benefactors, while public wards were furnished by a last-minute bulk purchase by the Hospital Trust from local factories. Due to lack of funds, the conversion of the old hospital was postponed indefinitely.

The ABSOLUTE WORST hospital. The staff here are alright, but the DOCTORS are not qualified whatsoever. We had gone into emergency at 11:30am and got put into an emergency room at about 2pm and a nurse came to check the symptoms and then said a doctor would be with us soon.... After screaming in pain (I swear the whole hospital could hear us) 5 HOURS later a doctor finally came in and ordered some IV fluids and meds. WHY SHOULD IT TAKE 9 HOURS BEFORE GETTING ANY PAIN MANAGEMENT!!??? After about an hour of getting IV the doctor said the blood tests looked fine and prescribed some extremely strong flu medication. Oh I forgot to mention he didn’t even do a proper checkup, all he did was feel the stomach and said yeup it’s the flu (not those exact words). Well let’s just say he MISDIAGNOSED. We will NEVER be going back to the horrible hospital.

sowmya kadaveru

Very radiculous waiting. We came for emergency for my 3 years old. No caffeine. Lady not even giving cup of water. We waited for 4 hours. No progress.

Yesterday, my wife and I went to see Dr. Gray for my wife's cyst removal, although we took a very long time to find where we should go (The information that we got from our local hospital is not enough), while, we had a very good mood since we said hi and shaked hands with Dr. Gray, Dr. Gray studied all information that we provided to and he showed us where the cyst incision should be, he is not only a very professinal doctor but he was smiling all the way with enough patience to us, these giving us great confidence to have the future surgery on March 26, 2020, the lady, Val of Dr. Gray's assistant I guess is a great woman too, she helped us lots that day as well. thank you all again for your great services! i went to the hospital because i was having trouble breathing, the hospital knowing i was covid positive, put in the waiting room along with everyone else… Hospital took ABSOLUTELY NO covid precautions! the doctors have no consideration for patients. they treat disrespectfully. they need to change. the staff is no help what so ever. this hospital doesn’t help people. they send you home after a blood test no matter the circumstances. Victoria Hospital may be your death bed.

The receptionists are very rude and openly mock the patients with mental health issues. I am not happy with the service I saw and received.

Cameron SG Duncan

Great hospital, always busy though and long wait times, which are the norm. They do the best with what they have, and are really good with kids. I had to bring my son in when he was only a few days old because he wasn’t able to latch and was starting to dehydrate, and they took amazing care of him and my wife. They even let me stay with them in the ward as we got everything worked out. I will never think of the hospital the same way again after this experience, since they took such wonderful care of my family at this difficult time. My son is doing very well now, and it turned out he needed to have a tongue tie corrected, which a lactation consultant caught during our stay!

Hunter Lauralee

If I could give this hospital a minus star I would. The nurse who I spoke with (Erin) should not be in that line of work. She was rude and basically told me that there alot of other people waiting too. That I understand, however when you are in severe pain and they take someone who can get up and walk in just like that laughing and joking meanwhile I sat there with severe head pain I never had before. I have to say I would not even bring my dog to this hospital. You new that your job would be hectic, if you can't handle it miss Erin then perhaps you should try working on the back of a garbage truck, I will never ever go there again, I would die first.

tori welter

Rude staff and nurses. I waited 5 hours in a waiting room and 2 hours in a hallway just for a doctor to tell me then there was nothing in my x ray and that ive torn a ligament and there is nothing they can do so i need to follow up with my family doctor and have him refer me for an mri. Then later found out from my MRI a month after being at this hospital that I actually fractured my knee in 2 places. Thank you for wasting my time.

I went it for an ergo and after the surgery went home. About an hour after I got home I fell to the floor in severe pain. I was told that if I experienced worst pain to come right back in. I was told to go to emerg and explain to them that i just got a procedure done and was informed by a specialist to come right in if the pain worsens. I was out in the waiting room for an hour then put into a tiny room that could barely fit a bed through. I was then in there for over 4 hours of no pain meds and was told to calm down and stop crying and screaming. My hubby had to keep asking for the doctor as he didn't like seeing me like this and they said we have to wait for your blood test to come back. Now im going on 5 hours of nothing for the pain. Finally the doctor comes in and I had to fight tooth and nail to get pain meds. Turned out I had pancreatitis from the procedure. I went in at 8pm and was finally admitted at 230am.

I had a bad fall and I made a stop here today to get my lungs and neck checked out. The staff is amazing and it’s pretty quick in here. It took me about 2 hours from finding parking to getting dismissed (including x-rays and all). I would suggest this hospital to everyone. Luckily I happened to be in London that day otherwise I would have waited 7-8 or more hours at other hospitals .

Hello I keep reading these bad reviews from ppl who have had bad experiences in Vic ER. My family members happen to be RN ‘s there. They put up with a lot of abuse everyday from patients. They have had all their paperwork thrown all over the floor, they just had food thrown at them last week, they are regularily threatened verbally and physically and that’s only a small part of what abuse towards the staff goes on there. The other RN has ppl that have to be stopped by them and security from attacking, acting out and being generally abusive in many ways regularily. The staff have to deal with staffing shortages in every dept and burnout from trying to be there for everyone during covid times especially. They have been doing extra hours to try to help. They have to wear all their PPE for 12 hrs straight with compromised breathing and rashes on their faces from the masks. They didn’t even have a place to safely take their breaks for the longest time and had to eat in their cars. Many are just plainly burned out and some even leaving that career because it’s just too much with being expected to do more and more and having less to do it with. They have to deal with increasing numbers of mentally ill patients who sometimes camp out there in groups until they can be seen, as there are barely any beds for Phyc anymore thanks to our government closing all the beds years ago. I don’t think many ppl understand that Emerg is not a first come first served dept. When you get seen is based on the worst off get seen first and the ppl with the least serious problem get seen last, that’s how they decide who goes next and that is decided when you register at the Triage desk. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHEN YOU CAME IN. Then they have to wait for someone to leave to wash the bed and sometimes they have to wait for a bed to become open on the floor which often just doesn’t have an empty bed laying around again with government cuts. They may have a physical bed on the floor but no staff to look after someone. When a bed opens up in ER they have to be able to give it to the next most serious person and this all takes a lot of time, that’s why you wait for hours in the ER. I worked in healthcare for about 35 yrs all over in multiple roles in multiple hospitals so I know what goes on and how hard it is to work in an institution that the government does not properly fund and the staff and the patients take the brunt of that, we all pay a price. So rather than getting angry while your sitting and waiting, try being thankful that you are not the most critical person waiting to be seen and that you have a World Class hospital to come to with staff trying their best to help everyone in need at no cost to you.

With the covid pandemic effecting everyone in the world, it's no wonder hospitals have to screen every person that enters their facilities. Having acknowledged that, I admit that I cannot stand incompetence. Having been refused entrance to accompany my wife for her procedure because "someone" forgot to put me on the list, I made sure that for her next appointment I would be on the list to be allowed access by calling ahead of her appointment and was assured I would be on the visitor/caregiver list. Guess what? That person who is AKA "someone" messed up again. I'm old, tired and cranky and that's all it takes to light my short fuse. So here I sit outside while "someone" tries to get me clearance. My apologies to the screeners and security for revealing my frustration. And, take me off your list of people to contact for donations. Sorry!!

TWO Bad experiamces to share Number 1. Jan 13/21 6:45 to 11:15 pm. Called emergency and 911 to get taken to PA Victoria Hospital. I had COVID 19 with increasingly bad symptoms and no longer able to care for myself. Vic Hospital told me to take a taxi, with bad covid?? I arrived with temp 38.9 and O2 levels of 83. Below 92 O2 is serious. The White Doctor(?) did blood work and vitals. My Temp and O2 remained serious. My head felt as if it was going to explode and I had shallow breathing. I was not given supplemental O2 even when asked for. They gave me Tylenol for pain which I already was taking allot and didn't help. I questioned the Doctor (?) about O2 pain meds for very high temp and fever. He actually said that covid and the virus to go home until it gets worse or better!? They sent me home in a taxi again with covid. They said I had to leave because they were keeping the beds for pandemic emergencies. The emergency was almost empty and one other exam room had a patient. I have to make my own transport arrangements to get to the Saskatoon Emergency ASAP. The staff would spray themselves and any equipment down after leaving my room and joked playfully outside my room. But they still said its ok to take a public taxi? They had nothing else going on because most of the other beds were empty. UNBELIEVABLE UNPROFESSIONAL NON COMPASSIONATE DISGUSTING PRACTISES AND BEHAVIOUR. DONT GO THERE GO TO A REAL HOSPITAL. Experiance two. Oct 2020 wife 4 months pregnant and spotting blood. They sid xrays and exams and said there was cancer cell attached to womb wall. They said emergency surgery was needed ans the baby woyld be lost. We were crushed. We went to Saskatoon emerg. They did the proper test. It was a calcium build up not cancer!!! No problems at all and nothing since. UNBELIEVABLE LACK OF PROFESSIONAL STAFF. STAY AWAY FROM PA VICTORIA HOSPITAL FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.

Judy Clark

Walked in with a broken tail bone (2nd time its happened) and was told it was an 8+ hr wait and not worth me being there! This was after the nurse spent 10mins having a personal chit chat. Simce when are we denied medical care? I need to no how much damage I have caused to myself...!

Gilda Kiesse

This hospital is sooo bad !! They’re going to make you wait literally 12 hours until you see a doctor ! There’s not a lot of doctors that works there and if your injuries are not serious they won’t see you until later on . You guys need to fix this hospital cause it’s a mess !

erin brenner

Grace

The mental health unit is a mess. I was only fed twice over a four day period but was never given a menu to select meals until the day of discharge so did not eat during my stay. They are EXTREMELY behind with referrals for surgery or else doctors are downplaying the severity of their patients symptoms. If you’re able to go elsewhere, please do. This hospital has really contributed to healthcare trauma.

Took my wife to the emergency room with a high risk pregnancy with twins, knowing well that one of them had not made it and thought it was just the empty sac being expelled which is what they told us it was . She had excessive bleeding we had an ultra sound and saw that the remaining baby was alive but she still had bleeding the doctor dismissed it and sent us home an hour later we had a 3 month old fetus in our hands we are devastated, I'm ashamed of our doctors and our health care system free it may be but this is unacceptable. These emergency doctors act like they are relaxing at home while patients suffer her pants were soaked in blood the pair she came in with and the one they gave her if that doesn't merit closer observation I don't know what does..

everyone on earth

Honestly I would take your chances driving to saskatoon or even regina if you need a surgery. I was told my surgery was scheduled for 10:45am and 6:04pm I'm still waiting to be seen by the surgeon. I was told to not eat or drink 12 hours before but that has turned into a 24 hour fast because now that I'm here I can't eat or drink till I'm done surgery. Which they can't even give me a time yet. 6:05pm and still no updates or anything. Haven't been asked how I feel haven't been asked about pain this hospital is a joke.

Sarah Henke

Great hospital, has many services that you can't find any where else in the city (or even a few hours drive). To everyone complaining about wait times, contact your MP and let them know. It's budget cuts that are partly to blame. The other part is not understanding how the emerg system works. Everyone is given a colour (red, orange, yellow, green and blue). When you arrive, you are 'sorted' based on how serious the nurse, a medically trained individual, says the situation is. Red is life threatening (think loss of life or limb). The go down from there. If you go in with a cough or something else really minor, your gona get a green/blue lable. And you will keep getting pushed down as more serious cases will always go ahead of you. For those complaining about pain control issues, doctors have to give orders before a nurse can give you any thing. If you in the waiting room, and you have some type of pain medication on you (Tylenol, Advil etc) ask the triage nurse if you can take it. 99% of the time, they'll say yes. Same goes for any other medications you can buy at the drug store. It may not do much, but it's at least something. Only downside to Vic is the confusing layout of the hospital.

--

Perhaps these nurses are too busy taking TikTok videos to attend to my pregnant wife, but there is no need for the snarky, dismissive and disrespectful attitude. You are PUBLIC SERVANTS, don't remember who you serve. Just another reminder how Canada's healthcare system is a failure. "Free" doesn't mean good. "Free" doesn't mean they care at all about you or your condition. You are just cattle to them moving through a machine. As is typical with government employees, they have guaranteed jobs and therefore show little to no care for their customers, or in this case patients.

Never seen such a disorganized place. My father qas forced to stay there for the last few weeks of his life. Some nurses were great, some totally avoided his room. I pressed that call button up to 3 times sometimes before we got any help. Can't imagine what it's like when your alone there. They can't provide anything except for when it's suppose to come to you. Visiting times don't make any sense either, why can I visit 8am till 8pm at other hospitals but it's reduced to 2pm till 8pm here. Seems like patients are the least important part of this hospital.

J. E.

Its a great hospital with a great caring Staff

If I was able to leave NO STARS I WOULD. Arrived at 11am it is now 7pm and I'm still waiting in the waiting room seen the triage nurse right away but now not so good. Came in from Sarnia Ontario with possibly pregnancy or something wrong with my abdominal area and stuck in a corner of the waiting room watching people come and go after me. So frustrating ???? . Unfortunately there is a sign saying NON EMERGENCIES 8+HOURS but come on abdominal pain or possible pregnancy problems this is ridiculous ???? ????

Terrible hospitals , I have a large hernia and they won't help,me because I don't want mesh put inside me again. I had to have my gladbladder taken out , big mistake there , it all started with that, I knew I had a hernia walking out of the hospital from having my gladbladder removed , trying to prove that I had a hernia took me a year and a half , finally thought I got it fixed but the mesh fell apart inside my body was bed ridden for almost 2 years til I found a doctor willing to remove the mesh he was in Chatham, he tried his best , but still have a hernia and now he's retired so I need to find a doctor willing to help me , I spend a lot of time in resting mode because of the pain. The nurses in emerg are just awful. I hope these nurses and doctors will learn some compassion for their fellow humans sooner than later, because I was nothing but respectful and kind and was treated with no respect, remorse or understanding. We brought my 6 year old son as he needed stiches. We were registered as soon as we walked in, and since we are from a different town I didn't have his health card on me unfortunately. But they were kind enough to call the MOH to get it. We were admitted after only a half hr of wait time. The staff at the admitting were kind, patient and caring. Once we were admitted the nurse came over and was so gentle and sweet with my son. What I absolutely loved is they had a student from child and youth program, who came to talk to my son and explain what was going to happen, what the doctor would do and answer any questions with lots of reassurance. She even brought a doll and all the tools so he could see how the procedure would go, and so he could mentally prepare himself for it. They also offered an iPad and coloring to keep him busy while we waited for the doctor (which wasn't long at all!) The doctor was also kind and did a fantastic job at stitching my son up. After he was finished they offered my son a popsicle and his brother. The care and attententivness we Recieved were amazing. I think they have a wonderful staff that works efficiently and a great system going to keep patients cared for at the best. Thank you!

Went to emergency when a limb on a tree hit me. What a waste of my time to go there. Dislocated my collarbone and popped the cartilage on one of my ribs. Did absolutely nothing for the collarbone. Then told me that there was nothing wrong with my rib. When you could clearly see it without an xray. Worst care I've ever recieved.

Had to take my little guy in for some tests and everyone was pleasant, wait time was a bit longer than expected so 4 star for that

My experience at this hospital was very good! I underwent a serious surgery and my surgeon, the nurses and staff were just amazing and really took good care of me. However, the food there is bland, but I think this the standard for most hospitals.

Margaret Lavallee

Would like to remove that star. My daughter's treatment from some of staff has been rude and uncaring. She had surgery, became infected went to emergency deptment 4 times before they listened to her that something was not right. 4 times, she could have died then was put on a pump to drain out the fluid. She had to carry this machine on her for a week. Professional I truly question that, if they don't like their job, then leave it. Their behavior and attitude not needed when a patient is in need.

I think its horrible and frightening when a hospital solicits the right to die to a patient who is fighting for his life and only looking for home assistance. Shame on you. You must think this is an option for those that want to live as well as those that want to die?.?

Neamat Salman

Hi, I came to the emergency room Friday March 2019, because I had some depression. They told me to keep me one night and I will leave Saturday. When I tried to leave on Saturday March 30, 2019, the nurses prevented me and called the security. They pushed me, forced me on wheel chair, forced me to take the medicine or they injected the medicine, through me on the bed, forced me to change my clothes and locked the door. After that doctor came and put on form and I could not go home. All what had happened is against the law. I had the right to leave the hospital since Saturday March 30, 2019 but I am still in the hospital. Thank You, Neamat Salman

The Children's Hospital is far from professional. Over the past three years, whenever supports have been needed and answers have been requested, they've given the run-around approach rather than being honest. Referrals that were put through for supports are somehow not found through the centers that supposedly received them months prior. They've failed to give adequate care to a child who is now struggling developmentally, although they were given clear instructions through another hospital that the child required intensive therapy after spending months in-hospital. If the care required for a child is not convenient for them, they don't put the extra work in to make sure it's done and bring the parent some relief. Our experience has been nothing but stressful with this hospital.

This place is a dump station the worse place I've ever been, unpleasant, mean people and rude, the worse representation of the Canadian society. Never go there if you want keep surviving. And they use to put on the front desk to a nurse who has pitbull face because she is strongly mean and I think she feel proud of her mean face and behaviour because she enjoys her character and seeing people struggling with her medical issues. I had my baby a week ago and the care I received at Victoria hospital is the best I’ve gotten in any hospital the staff are all very friendly and willing to help with everything and anything u need.. I got my own nurse the whole time I was in labour who helped me a ton from turning the temp down in the room to pain meds and making sure I knew everything was my choice and asked me permission every time she wanted or needed to do anything and encouraging me as well i regret not knowing what her name is because I’d really love to thank her she was amazing.. I had my son at a different hospital and the care at vic is 100% better I will not go to another hospital if I have another baby in the future … thank you sooo much doctors nurses and all staff at Victoria hospital

New review: this hospital is still an absolute joke. Took my 18 month child to see the doctor because of vomiting and other issues. Doctor noticed O2 stats are a bit low and ordered a xray. Xray comes back "okay" and sends home. Still worried go to a mediclinic the next day to get a second opinion doctor diagnoses her with an ear infection and orders antibiotics. Daughter is getting better thankfully. 3 days later recieve a phone call stating she has pneumonia. It does not take 3 days to diagnose a child. If I could give a lower score that 1 I would. Old review: This hospital and the emergency staff are a joke. You could be in pain and need meds (blood pressure not pain meds). They will make you wait and wait then tell you, oh we are to busy after waiting hours and go to a walk in. They are rude and inconsiderate, they dont care about their patients. They only care about a certain kind of patient. Go to saskatoon if you have to or anywhere else if you have to. Their emergency room staff are just pathetic and should be ashamed of theirselves.

Called telehealth about health issue immediately following a surgery. They took all info and faxed to hospital and said when my son gets there he could get right in to avoid risking infection. Arrived there around midnight on Oct 3rd 2018 only to meet a miserable nasty nurse that was rude to my son. Had us wait in line and with a room full of sick people with an open chest. She refused to let us go quickly and said we had to wait with everyone else. My son panicked and left raising his stress level thru the roof!!! I tried talking to the nurse and shevsaud calling telehealth does not get you bumped and all the info we gave them would have to he redone. I do not know if she was transphobic but it appeared that way. Very disappointed in our nurses

Its impossible to get a hold of anyone in this hospital. Also, I was told that I cant see my doctor again if I miss my next appointment, very inconsiderate.

The worst hospital I have ever been to. I'm afraid to ever need hospitalization because of this hospital. I don't want to go back. Mean, busy, inattentive, and they botched my surgery 3 years ago so bad I can never have children ever again. Hopefully I'll move out of London before I have another emergency

I wish I could give negative stars most unprofessional people first this guy on reception is using phone and has no idea how long customer is standing in the line doesn’t know the name but has a tattoo on his left arm, then 2-3 hours wait think need some donations to buy some extra beds because never have a bed free and emergency rooms are always full even if you come 12 at night or 11 in the morning. No proper calling for patients, they say there can be a heart attack patient need attention first than your pain. For real does the heart attack patient will wait in the emergency line to give his/her information to the receptionist. It’s a joke for emergency hours Better go Saskatoon take 1 hour drive and see a doctor than wasting 2-3 hours here.

After 2 years waiting for some surgery or some kinda help from both nurses doctors and all hospitals staffs finally my mom got an appointment and at 7:30 in morning of September 16,2020 no one contacted us to let us know the appointment is canceled, my mom doesn’t speak English and she was in severe pain the day of appointment, she has very low immune system and she got to hospital when everyone telling us to do not go in hospital during current situation, the appointment was canceled by dr.Krib at 7:30 am however the patient got in hospital and got registered through patient registration the nurse took my mom and got her ready for surgery and inject her Iv the patient got to the OR at 9:36am and the dr that I mentioned informed us there is small problem since they forgot to tell my mom she needed to take pills three weeks in advance for this surgery, he asked us to wait so he can double check with the other dr who also in charge of my mom (R.k ) health, we didn’t heard a word from him till 10:30 and one nurse told us the appointment was canceled! The hospital is responsible both drs are responsible for the health of my mom , they have had her in hospital in current situation risked her life patient didn’t eat or hd water due to surgery since 8pm the night before, the nurse injected her with IV and had no clue that the appointment was canceled!!! This behavior cost the patient a day full of stress and put her in high risk and now her pain is even worse than before. Hospital and drs and nurses are responsible we need answers and need to compensation for our mom. She wasn’t speaking English and if I was not with her she would have been waiting even longer and had no idea what is happening!! We need answers and hospital is responsible to give us those answers!!

The worst experience ever. I have been to Victoria hospital for a severe back injury. They put me on a wheel chair for a long time though i can not sit because of my pain. The staff was without any mercy. they saw me crying and in pain and did not care. I asked another patient to help me sleep on the emergency room chairs. The worst thing you feel is when you are supposed to go to a place where you get treatment. Those people are without any mercy and they expect the patients to serve themselves. Finally, after being called to the emergency entrance door I told them I can not walk and need help and a very rude employee told me that he saw me moving out of the chair by myself and that I can do it without help. I ended up asking them to leave and they did this with pleasure. Thanks a lot great medical staff. You are really standing for those who serve the country.

Last Thursday I checked into LHSC Victoria hospital to have a parotid gland cyst removed (parotidectomy) It was done by Dr. Kevin Fung , a head and neck surgeon , This was considered routine day surgery and I was to go home later in the afternoon . After surgery however it was discovered, I had pseudocholinesterase deficiency and could not be awakened or breath on my own . I ended up in ICU for the night and monitored for 24 hours until my condition improved . I would like to thank the surgical team and also the staff in ICU for their care and probably saving my life . Of most enlightenment, however I got to see firsthand what these professionals in ICU endure during a 24-hour cycle and I can tell you it's not for the faint at heart . They usually work 12-hour shifts caring for people who can't breathe , can't talk , can't control their bowels or bladder and for the most part without care from ICU staff would lay there and die . It's a dirty job most of us would not do for any amount of money .For you people who give this hospital less four stars , shame on you . And for those people who protest in front of the hospital while these hospital workers go to and from their jobs enduring these long hours for the well being of others you are at the lowest spectrum of ignorance.

The Victoria Hospital in London Ontario is horrible! The staff is rude and very unhelpful, and as a patient I just watched all the secretaries who continuously chat about their personal lives, unable to help a patient who walked in because no one spoke Spanish, great job Victoria Hospital, London Ontario, way to show the people who is handling our health care!

This place does not even deserve 1 star. My son has no immune system and they leave us sitting in the hospital for 6 hours in a room right next to the worst. Unvaccinated Mennonites. Slowest most overpaid Drs and nurses around.

My surgeon Dr Luc Dubois and his team were great! 5+. However, the nursing care that followed my surgery has left me traumatized, so much so that I would rather die than have another major surgery. I felt neglected and less than human. The last straw was when I overheard a group of 4 nurses making fun of a dementia patient. I asked to be discharged early at only 4 days pre-op. They're behaviour was disgusting and unprofessional.

I have a 23 yr old daughter that was abused by her now ex bf, 2 yrs ago he had been hitting her in the head and knocked her out on one occasion as well as locking her in a closet for hrs at a time everyday for approx 3 mths , then she started Haveing symptoms with physcosis , she admitted herself knowing something g was wrong and she was hallucinating bad and having paranoid dilutions .Since then she has been admitted monthly and has several times stayed in for one to 2 mths at a time then discharged , each time she comes out the same way she went in and had never realy been been treated they keep her and give her meds that make a zombie out of her then release her to the street .Several times she has been lost and taken to jail as well as sent in cabs to exeter not even knowing if she has a place to go . I've requested to be contacted more than 10 times and still 2 yrs later never called once by the hospital. She is in worse shape now than when this started 2 yrs ago. EACH time she's taken to emerge she's kept there for 2 to 5 days and locked in a room with a cop on the other side of door. On Xmas eve I brought her some gifts trying to cheer her and she has asked me to step outside the room so she could change immediately the security lady was suspicious and demanded to know what she was up to, she busted into the room started yelling at.my daughter that she saw she was trying to smoke and have 3 other guards called immediately and cornered her made me leave the area and had all her Xmas gifts and all but her clothes taken away and when my daughter got very upset iver all this choase she had her restrained .The whole situation was very disturbing and hostile and was enough to make even the sannest and mentally healthy person upset never mind a 23 yr old that didn't know what was happening to her mind to begin with and now due to the physcosis she has since done drugs and now doctors there are blaming the drugs for it when it all started with the abuse and her being knocked out and never has anything been said or done about the head injury and whenever I do tell them about that they ignore me and start talking about the drugs again. This is a terrible hospital and I believe it's only made my daughter sicker than she would have.been if she had not gone there in the first place As for the patient review response team I tried to contact them immediately the moment I was told by the also rude nurse to go to the waiting room in emergency depth while they were dealing with my daughter (giving her a shot to make her into a vegetable) it's a known fact if you make a mentally unhealthy person get all hyped up and upset it can kill them, all I got was an answering machine with an emergency number which I called and got an ans machine there to.I left a message about what happened and then returned to the emergency dept .approx 1hr went by an was never informed if anything I went back to the area she was in and the rude nurse told me she was sleeping and to take her gifts with me and she said as well if she hadn't of been smoking it all never would have happened ,no smoke was found and nothing was burning so all of it was for no good reason and I never received a call back for 2 weeks and it was.from security Asking what happened I told him and to this day nothing was done and.this woman security guard is still working there.

I went to the hospital after 3 days of excruciating pain in my head throat neck and stomach. I was there for 3 hours with people coming in with things like the sniffles or one person who literally said they slept wrong and were sore. Who all got in before me. The chairs in the waiting room are set up so it's only 1 person per 3 chairs and I was in a row by myself. So I layed down as I'm in a lot of pain and a nurse comes out and tells me I cany lay there because other patient's need those seats. I was there for another hour after that and not one person sat there. Because they wernt allowed to... I'm never coming back here again

Went to a different hospital in worse pain and was given a needle and told to go home. A year later and 2 spurts of this pain i went here, ill never go anywhere else ever again. They made sure my pain was tolerable, got me in for emergency mri and already going to see a specialist. RN people were great and informative. Fantastic with help and the porters to stear beds were great. Also the guy cleaning the beds and linen was also great. Like i said , only hospital ill go to ever again. Doctors, RNs, nurses, and all the other staff are great. Also the MRI staff are very understanding and informitive.

My daughter has experiences severe issues of pain for years, on-going. Never no answers as to why but they only assume she's there for drugs. I am her mother I know the pain she experiences attended many, many hospital emergencies with her She calls regarding her treatment let me reword mistreatment. It's not all but a few staff emergency nurses. Shameful! I am angry, upset, frustrated as to what to do, perhaps needs to be reported to media, goverment..Also makes it hard on my being, emotionally and mentally of her well-being. I am a few hours away from where she resides too. As a parent I am very concerned. And these people in professional industry to help but allow their prejudice or judgement to make decision on the quantity of care to people. I am total p'ed at this time!!

Last fall my cat startled & went over my head instead of off my lap. Used my eyes as a springboard with multiple puncture wounds and a significant laceration on my Lt eyelid. Although the crisis of Ebola was in the news & had some impact, I think I had a parting of the crowd of patients in emerg because my was face covered in blood & it looked like I was bleeding from eyes, nose & mouth. I was taken right in, seen by a sympathetic triage Nurse & assigned a room. The opthamology intern & resident showed up quickly & got me stitched up in no time. They answered Q's easily, laughed easily & I didn't even have to ask to have the stitches checked. Several weeks later, I still had black eyes, but the stitches were removed, and the laceration healed beautifully. A plastic surgeon would have been proud : ) Thanks so much everyone ! Patti
