Having dealt with doctors and specialists in various parts of Canada, the neurology staff and specialists here have been the best yet. They have a genuine interest in making my foster son's life experience with epilepsy as easy as possible. Finally a chance to better his quality of life after 18 yrs dealing with seizures.

Someone stole my shoes in emergency, while I was unconscious, and they sent me home out in the winter with only socks on. Merry Christmas?

Staff were helpful and great. Parking during construction is a bit confusing, but I couldn't fault the hospital staff during my visit.

Silver Kurosai

8/10 of the staff were friendly kind and very helpful. They were overshadowed by two very rude and unapologetic staff members. Any request made were ignored until we were able to get ahold of someone else. Blankets, water, and coffee were all an hour to non existant. And the older lady doing the ECG test was physically pushing people aside and rolling her eyes everytime someone tried making small talk. otherwise all the other nurses and doctors were very kind and helpful. Meals weren't terrible. Bland to be expected. Parking was a hassle I am just hoping they address their shortcomings.

Bala Gayathri Sekar

Very friendly staff at the labor unit especially Chantel andJen. Also all the doctors and residents gave lot of motivation throughout the process. They all made me feel more comfortable and not too much overwhelmed than i need to. Thank you to the whole team.

I find it funny people complaining about the wait time and blaming the nurses. Ur wait is based on Dr's. So if a nurse is on their phone, while they shouldn't be to begin with, it has absolutely NO effect on ur wait time. And the ave. wait time in almost any emerg room if ur not a trauma or dying is between 3-8 hours. Im not a health care worker, I'm just a person who has spent a lot of time in and out of hospital. If I go to any hospital, be expected to wait and stop blaming the nurses

Staffs are very unfriendly , very frustrated no smile , looks like no care.its one second to smile both sides and makes the day much better ????????????????

What a joke travel almost 3.5 hours to get here and be told to wait in the hallway with no bathroom no nothing i understand covid is here but really like come on now here is a hallway for ya

Alvin Jamieson (FlamingoRd)

Cluttered and dirty, medical staff are working hard to provide care, I give them 5 stars.

Kim Lever-Deneau

Went in for unexpected angina. Haven’t had it in years. Gave all my information clearly. Was shuffled around from small room to small room. Finally got blood work done 3 hours later (unbelievable!) then given Tylenol and Ativan and sent home. ‘ must have been a panic attack’ was the diagnosis. NOT PLEASED WITH HOW THEY HANDLED A PATIENT WITH HEART DISEASE. Will reconsider hospital choices in the future.

Phil Campagna

If you are having a medical emergency, and can get to just about anywhere else, do it. If you MUST go to RUH, be sure to have somebody with you both to act on your behalf and to be a witness. NEVER go alone when dazed or confused (anaphylactic shock, for example). This hospital is dated, broken down, and consistently filthy. There are good people here, of course, but so many are people who should not work with people.

Worst experience ever! Why there's no ZERO star!!! They deserve it!Why at te beginning there's no doctor to see me!!!!

Dorian Thorson

Great hospital. I've never had issues here. Saved my life once before and every time I'm come for small emergencies, the system they have in place certainly makes it a smooth process. 5/5 beats Saint Paul's system 1,000,000X over.

Seriously terrible. Last night i was having a hard time breathing, and i was throwing up from 8pm until i went into the emergency at 3am. Upon getting there, i was shaking and having a hard time getting air, and also violently dry heaving. They told me to take a seat until there's a bed. Fast forward an hour, and I'm taken into a bed (4am). There im left to wait. And wait. 5pm rolls around and i ask a nurse when i can see a doctor, she says "theres a lot more sicker people here than you." When she had no information on my condition so who was SHE to tell me about my condition before a doctor even sees me? Absolutely rude, i asked her for something for nausea at least at which I was refused (im 22 years old). I asked for water as my stomach was in pain from so much dry heaving, at which i was also DENIED. I was denied WATER. So i waited until 6am (total of 3 hours there) until I realized I was getting no service there, and my conditions were about the same, so i went home. Luckily it looks like i just had severe food poisioning or something (will we ever know?) But my point is, what if it were something more? If a person can hardly stand up, and is vomitting for 7 hours, and is having trouble breathing, why would you just ignore them and assume its something not serious. Very choked.

Lester Roquefort

Rafaela Menugini França

I waited for more than 3hs to be attended, but nobody gave me any attention. I'm having a huge pain under my right ribs, vomiting and nausea 24hs, but they don't care.

M V.D.H

Horrible. Couldn't even describe to who ever answered the phone how much pain I am in before she just told me to hand up and call 811 horrible service very disappointed in my time of help.

My mother was in the hospital early this year for surgery, you guys are amazing people! These people are super friendly, they were always there for us! Thank you to everyone who helped her!

Long wait but very attentive and well organized emergency room.

R L.

Staff are kind and knowledgeable. I appreciated the honesty and detail given prior to surgery! Quality of care is better than many hospitals I have been to. Mall area, as with many other common areas are very clean and well laid out. Criticisms: More facility care and improvements needed. Most of the facility needs some minor maintenance throughout. Also would like to see much better singage and visual management tools. A signage overhaul is in other. Not more signes, better. Many identifiers look sloppy, unprofessional, excessive and outdated. Many labels and signes are hidden and have "sweet spots" for viewing. It not too hard to figure out, just not as easy as it could be. Think lean visually. Some enterences do not cigarette disposal and so the grounds are filthy from the litter.

Linda Maldonado

So disgusted. I went to emergency for a cuticle infection and they made me wait for more than 2:30 hours. When I asked if they were gonna help me out, they told me that they have very sick people and they’re much more important. If you have the option, just go to another place.

Milan Lagos

SUPER NICE STAFF. Very welcoming and friendly. They are very skilled and smart staff.

We were in Saskatoon to visit our elderly mom in the Oncology ward. The Canadian health system is ripping at the seams with COVID and I too have suffered ridiculous wait times for simple, yet pressing, issues, but in this case - the 6th floor Oncology staff were extremely helpful, attentive, kind and although we could see just how busy they were, they never made us feel like we were in the way. They helped us immediately, whenever we needed something for my mom (gloves, help moving her etc) or just plain info. Kuddos nurses & doctors - you have a tough, tough job.

Jonathan McEvoy

After 4 days of being misdiagnosed for a stomach flu a X-ray showed a blockage and off to the RUH I go report to emergency with a doctors name where they took my vitals anothe X-ray and CT scan and waited 10 hours in a chair . till they moved me to a room in ATA. Finally doctor showed up now very late told me need more test started a IV gave me three Advil. 2 days in ATA stomach started working I wasn’t allowed to eat then moved upstairs. Doctor came back says the GI staff are looking at me now more test. 4 more days past got some soft food now it Monday the test is another CT scan. I am from out of town a week has past and still not sure what caused the blockage, but I am getting the blank out of here today come hell or high water. I am from Edmonton so when they said the RUH I thought U of A hospital must be the same. NOT. Pretty sad place to be sick in. Especially if you are from out of town feel sorry for the folks from up north.

I have mixed feelings about RUH. I came here because I was in extreme pain due to a stomach ulcer. The nurse at the front desk was very kind and understanding of my frustrations over the wait. I got there at about 12pm, and didn't see an emergency physician until roughly 6pm. The wait felt SO long, which isn't really their fault as all hospitals tend to simply be understaffed. At one point I had a panic attack, but my ativan did NOTHING for me but the nurses said they could not give me anything else other than ativan. I asked if there was somewhere I could sit in private to calm down but they said they didn't have anywhere available so I spent a long time outside trying to calm down. When I finally saw the emergency physician, I was feeling better. He was so friendly, and seemed genuinely concerned about my health which I appreciated. His soothing voice was nice- simply talking to him helped calm me down a lot. As my ulcer is stress-related, he gave me a lot of advice to help me as well as foods to avoid so as not to make it worse. Overall I'm pleased with the nurses I talked to and the emergency physician, I just wish there was a solution to the issue of it being understaffed.

What kind of medical facility sends a cancer patient home with a fever? The nurses excuse is they need his bed... what kind of medical negligence is this?

Rupesh Ch

This place sucks.

Hafiz Waqar Zafar

My wife delivered a baby here 4 days ago and I would have given it 4 or 4.5 stars if it wasn't for the maternity ward where one is sent afterwards. Totally different place, doesn't look like it's the same hospital. Older beds and minimal room amenities even though we were in a private room which is supposedly just a step down from Victorian suite which is what we requested and didn't get. We were fortunate that at least one of the nurses was very supportive. However they were all interested in just getting us discharged the next day. My wife developed a bladder condition that was displacing her uterus but the staff nurse just kept insisting that it'll be fine and discharged us. My wife had to be readmitted to the hospital a day later for the same issue. Even second time around they haven't done anything to remedy the situation and simply asked my wife to see her obstetrician at her clinic even though the obstetrician also works at RUH. Wait time was extremely long and trainee after trainee just came to bombard us with questions that the doctor eventually asked again anyway. When performing a catheter insertion they didn't feel the need to provide some sort of pain management and when my wife said it was causing her pain she got the following response: "you're not exactly here to watch a movie at a cinema, of course it's going to hurt". Unbelievable!

Tess

Absolutely appalling. No sense of urgency to help in the emergency room.. I have literally moved faster feeding my children, then these people move to help sick and injured patients. I never come to the ER, because I know how busy it can get. Yet I would not be here if I didn't need to be. My pain level is an 8/10 right now, and I have yet to be seen by anyone. This is a disgusting display of healthcare. From now in it will be City Hospital or a small town ER.. It's been 7 hours and counting. Not an ok thing, when I see the nurses and doctors standing around and gossiping.

Great parking and very friend people

Our grand daughter was born here. Great care by the staff. Wish I could remember the nurse’s name because she was wonderful - kind, caring, easy to talk to. Everyone was nice to us whether they were cleaning or emptying garbages or checking the baby. Nice little play area on the main floor. Store, cafe and coffee shop available. Love it that the machines accept credit cards to buy a snack. Parking was ok. It’s a parkade - what do people expect? Everyone is doing their best

The staff in the maternal services at RUH were amazing. My wife and I had nothing but good experiences when dealing with the doctors and nurses, they were very helpful and provided excellent care. We were especially blown away with the nurses in the maternal care unit, the nurses went above and beyond providing help, advice and support.

The one doctor is professional, does not make up for the doctors and nurses in training sitting in the pediatric unit. Not only did they allow people after us treatment first, but they also served everyone that is not a child in first. Did not like the treatment, even admin is a little ignorant. Rather die then go there, but was taking children in. Now I know why this province does not have a childrens hospital. Do not think they should ever get one based on the treatment of my children alone. Going to die somewhere else now.... Also nobody minded their own business and the only time it is quiet is when someone is talking about their personal information. Not professional at all. APPARENTLY THERE IS A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT HOW HORRIBLE THIS HOSPITAL IS...

Everything Bling with Nella

Very friendly, caring n attentive staff. Great job taking care of my daughter in Paediatrics 3025. She loved you all. Nurse AJ you rock. Thank you!

Mike Guillet

Place is a joke. Parking is a disaster (that's putting it lightly) there's a dozen or so nurses just sitting by the emergency desk gossiping while taking patients stats or simply just sitting there doing nothing. It took an hour to get to triage and there was only one person a head of myself. Then another two hours in waiting room all the mean while having the person beside me who's practically having a stroke being told he has to wait like the rest of us because there's no beds. This place is dated (again putting it lightly) and makes me wonder where the hell all their funding is going. Please do something soon as this is our only after hours option and people who are seriously ill are just getting scurried like cattle from one waiting room to another. Absolutely unacceptable

I took one star off because the bed linens are a bit starchy. Otherwise great place to stay.

Parking very expensive and a real nightmare to park in with a truck parking height is very low and stalls are very small good place to get parking lot dents

Was woken up by nurses gossiping about other paitents at 3:00 am. How they stink and how no one wanted to give someone and enema. They were laughing at paitents. Kinda seriously disheartening.

.ROYAL UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL. #1 out of the 3 hospitals we have here in Saskatoon. Recognized doctors not only in our region but all of Canada and the U.S If it's to get the proper care and treatment for any discomforting medical conditions you might be having, this is the hospital you want to be at if you find yourself in Saskatoon, Sk. The University atmosphere, the selection of cafeterias, the choices for vending machines, parkades and parking lots are only some of the many great things this hospital has to offer. Architecture built on a solid foundation, with continued construction to maintain and expand the experience. I recommend this option when seeking anything medical in our beautiful city of Saskatoon!

Aiden's toolbox

Very good property trained staff and high skill level I go there for blood work they get the work done so fast and properly, just one painless poke and finds a vein instantly draws blood. Very skilled with kids also infants blood works they can locate a vein and draw blood instantly when other clinics couldn’t find any vital signs in small infants. The nurses and doctors are so friendly they deserve a good rating. I had my endocrinologist appointment on Monday I don’t know anyone I was seeing on that day the moment I was called up by the nurse it felt like the good service beyond what I imagined the nurse took my history and actually cared even the doctor there. The moment my name is called up a nurse/doctor is ready to build relationship with its patient even though it’s my first time meeting the staff there it’s like I’ve known them forever and had them as a trusted clinic staff for years.

Anne M F

Left in corridor on stretcher with the poor, over worked, but amazing ambulance staff for 3.5hrs who kept apologising to me as they couldn't understand why I wasn't being seen when there was only 1 trauma patient in front who was ready to be moved. CT scan of head, neck, chest, back. Left to wait for few more hours in cubicle. Told my husband and me I was ok to go!? A month later at my family doctor she looked at scans and face dropped. Suspicious growth in my chest and growths in my brain. Urgent referral now to see neurologist and Neuro surgeon and request for repeat CT on chest. But I was "OK" Utter, disaster. How did you miss these things??

Horrible parking. Takes up to half an hour roaming the parade to find a spot, then it's a 5 minute outdoor walk to get to the hospital (not good in -30!). Seems staff also park in the visitor parking as there are lots of people in scrubs getting in their cars in the morning. I come here regularly and it's only getting worse since they took away most of the parking to put another building onsite where the parking lot used to be.

Trisha C

Everyone is working really hard and I saw so many good attitudes. However, I get lost in the parking garage every time, signs are so easy to put up, just put up some cheap signs. Like double the signage. I once went to the MRI front desk for an appointment, that was fine. But, another time I came in for a CT scan and when I checked in the front desk was somewhat irritated that I hadn’t check in at registration. That wasn’t required of me when I had my MRI. You have to register for CT but not MRI, how can I foresee that? So I had to ask the cashier where to go for registration. There were people wandering aimlessly everywhere. The general chit chat around me is that no one knows where to go. This hospital desperately needs a third party organizational/efficiency professional. It’s so important to maintain confidence and the whole setup is designed to destroy confidence. People were standing in the weird stairwell/elevator doors area trying to figure out which way to get to the hospital entrance. The people behind me in line at registration we’re lost. It’s brutal. Some signs are big some are small. One time I brought my son into emergency and we got stuck in the parkade. He was weak, could barely walk. We went up and stairwell, reached a boarded door, went out on a different level, through another stairwell. Read a map that made no sense. Luckily I had my cell and called RUH. I was crying, “I’m in the garage and I don’t know how to get to emergency” It was such a bad experience. Someone will die in that parkade one day. Increase signage. Tighten up protocol. Tell patients what to do and where to go before the appointment. Make registration the first thing you see upon entering.

1 doctor on staff, nurses were rude. We wait over 3 hours in which the nurses informed us we were least priority and most likely won't see a doctor but it was our choice to wait. Travel back home to see our own physicians since this hospital was no help.

Have not had a good experience with this hospital yet. Between the overcrowded a&e to the rude unsympathetic staff. The maternity unit is also a let down. Staff make you feel like cattle. The so called "suite" is run down and dated and my TV never worked. Will be using st Paul's in future whenever possible.

I really have no idea how people rate this hospital so low. I almost lost my life and was taken to RUH where I went right into ER. I woke up and was take to a private room. I assume the private room was because I went though a traumatic event. I was in pain 24/7 the only sleep I got was during a second Operation. Pain killer were not working and an unknown nurse figured this out and had the doc put me on different pain killers. Two nurses became well known to me, Kayla and Cindy. I'll never forget the gentleness of either of them. The only complaint I have is the food which was just awful. Even after I was moved to the public rooms the nurses were friendly.

JennArrons

Came in with extreme stabbing pain in my side. Sat in the waiting room for 4 hours. Nurse finally came and grabbed 8 people including me and moved us all to a separate waiting room further in the hospital to make room in the waiting room at the ER. Waiting another 2 hours before the pain became so bad I got sick. Still no response from staff. There was a girl with a broken leg in the waiting room, too. She finally got fed up, took a bunch of advil, grabbed a pair of crutches out of the hallway and limped to the ER exit. (God speed broken leg girl, you're braver than I was) I'm not sure if she made it out but if you're missing a pair of crutches that's where they went. They finally got me into a bed and I sat around for another 45 minutes before a doctor saw me. He explained some tests, I told him I might be sick again so he took a trash bin used for paper waste and placed it in my lap and left. After a while a nurse came in, hooked me up to a heart rate monitor and something on there said 180 bpm. Suddenly a doctor is giving me multiple injections of morphine. I honestly don't remember much after that other than an xray, an ultrasound, and my dad helping me into his car at 3 am after being discharged from the hospital. Apparently the hospital "booked" me an appointment at St. Paul's for 3 days later for another Xray and treatment, where when I arrived the doctors had no idea about any appointment but accommodated me anyways. I won't bore people with what's wrong with me, but I was assured that it wasn't life threatening. I have had 4 other pain attacks just as bad as the 1st one but I have chosen to stay home and suffer in my own bed than sit in a waiting room for 6 hours and suffer in a plastic waiting room chair. 2 stars for morphine though

saeqvii

Had to wait until 8 pm to 6:30 am to leave. All we got were a heart test that took 5 minutes and a scan. Some staff are very rude and are horrible at their job.

THEE WORST HOSPITAL IN THE CITY!!! They are killing people instead of helping them! If EMS tells you your going to Ruh, your not going to get good treatment nor proper health. sat in emergency room for hours in extreme pain, and close to seizuring ( only one in the waiting room in my condition). nurses and doctors pasted by paying no attention, even ushering other patients in that didn't seem AT ALL as severe as me. Some of the nurses at this hospital are the absolute worst. Condescending, rude and lazy. And I’m judging off of multiple experiences (a couple of my own, a few from people I know and when my dad had to stay there). I get that your job is hard and you’re overworked but nobody’s FORCING you to work there and if you hate people THAT much then you should probably be looking for a new profession. I’m putting two stars because some of the nurses are actually great. You either get wonderful or terrible, no in between. Unfortunately, the terrible ones ruin it regardless and leave people with negative experiences. I dread going there for anything. I’ll either go elsewhere or suffer at home. Not even kidding...It really is THAT bad. It’s an embarrassment to our city in my opinion.

The worst experience I've had at a hospital in my lifetime. My friend was experiencing a lot of pain in my ears and had to wait for 4.5 hours to see a doctor. When we entered the minor emergency room all the beds were empty but their was a long line of patients out there waiting to get a bed. What if someone dies due to such treatment at ER, who would be responsible for that?

I could not say enough great things about the staff, both nurses and doctors!! My husband and I are here for 2 weeks visiting my sister and brother in law and after our first week here I have my third heart attack and had been taken to RUH. I was very well taken care of and got things mended and medications adjusted and released 3 days later. They accommodated my husband so he could stay at the hospital with me as we were staying in Aberdeen and we are here from Brantford,Ontario. Thank you so much to all staff in CCU and 6th floor unit 1!!❤️

My friend had come to see me in hospital, and all it is, is a jail. Paid $6.00 twice , was not allowed to see me. The grounds are like a maze and you get lost like he did yesterday and was given the wrong directions by security. Today he came but we didn't know visiting hours so they said he couldn't come in. She /he wouldn't let him in. This person wouldn't even let him leave a sweater for me. That was the reason why my anxiety hit the roof, and they are making it worse. So I guess I will freeze. The only answer they gave was that's policy. Ok, then at least he should have been able to leave it there and someone from my unit could pick it up. The most horrible thing happened the day before but it's so humiliating I can't even tell you about it, but it does include nudity and security guards. I will reveal this to the press. When I came in I had to name two people for emergency. So I did that but today they tell me I only have one on my list. My bathroom light doesn't work, the Venetian blind won't open so it's dark and gloomy. Never will I come back. I would rate this a 0 but that wasn't an option. Believe me , it was bad and there were many people lined up, so obviously visiting hours are not known to many people. I'd rather see a voodoo dr. In ending, they are making me just sit waiting because for 3 days I haven't even seen a dr.

My mother in law was told to go to emerg(by her small town doc), there's doctor waiting for you. That doctor was not even on shift when we arrived at the agreed upon time. We were assured that we would be updated on mom's condition and left a name a phone number. Not ONCE has anyone called and she's been in 3 days now. It took 5 transferred calls to find her on the 3rd day- as they moved her. When I called the nurses desk repeatedly for an update i was told her nurse was on break-I called 3x in 1.5 hours. I finally got to talk the nurse and she said she had just stepped away for 5 minutes to grab a coffee-I mentioned what her staff had told me and suggested they need to communicate better-she became very defensive and argumentative. She didn't know why my mom was moved. Didn't know if test results were back. Didn't know if there was a plan for surgery, yet they started an IV (twice). She did take a name and phone number AGAIN and was going to get the doctor to call us. THIS PLACE IS A HOLE AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE. Maybe the doctors are the best in the province(?) but there seems to be no structure and obviously overworked nurses. It's absolute torture to drop off an elderly loved one and be at the mercy of a system that is obviously broken with little empathy for the family. Go elsewhere if you can. Shame on you RUH.

Staff were wonderfully helpful. I don't know what people were saying it's "dated" for, it's a hospital. My only complaint is that it's borderline labyrinthian; finding my way around even with directions and a map proved troublesome.

Jesalyn Ligaya-Gregana

It’s a good hospital. Clean washroom, nice mall, except there is no Tim Hortons in there. The only choice you have for coffee is the overprice Starbucks.

The lack of care and helping patients is outstanding. Patients are made to wait for hours while a nurse sits on her phone scrolling facebook? Really? The bad reviews written by other people of this hospital are 100% correct. My third time at this hospital and I definitely will not be back...you will not be taken seriously here nor do they seem to care. Doctors seem inexperienced in diagnosing as well as seeing their patients. This hospitals funding should be revoked. You are better off making the drive to regina hospital for anything serious. Rarely checked up on no matter how serious the problem is. Everything about this hospital seems very ✨incompetent✨

Horrible experiences at this hospital every time I went. Basically never taken care of and had to go to a walk-in clinic for better care over serious situations.

Absolutely horrendous care. My grandma was admitted with multiple ailments and they sent her home without even investigating, gave her some antibiotics and called it good. 2.5 weeks later and she's much worse and admitted to another hospital. Don't take your loved ones to RUH unless you don't care whether or not they get better. If you're treating normal patients like garbage to treat covid patients like royalty, you're doing it wrong. What is wrong with you people. 1 star because you at least gave her antibiotics, every other aspect of her stay was a definitive ZERO.

Horrible place. Staff make people in the ER wait for hours while they just talk. They aren’t busy doing anything, most of them were LITERALLY just sitting around and talking. Doctors and nurses don’t care about any patients, unless it’s a child. Back to that, the doctors and nurses are extremely rude and unprofessional when people come to the ER for mental problems. They treat them like it’s a joke, and they show no support. I’ve been to St. paul’s a couple times and i didn’t think they were very great, but RUH is 100 times worse.

Went in with an arrhythmia and waited 3 hours for an ECG. Doesn’t seem appropriate to me.

Staff do what they can with what they have. The food they serve to patients is the worst food I've ever had after 20 years in the military! Toss it in the trash. Also, it's 2020. Why am I consistently sweating in these rooms? The rooms have individual climate controls yet the thermostat is turned completely off and it's still 22 degrees in here! Is there no AC functioning? I see patients fanning themselves to cool down! Not acceptable

Terrible service. Emergency room means emergency not sit for 8 hours while we tend to everyone who came in after you. The doctors are just sitting around talking most of the time. And they are not talking about patients they are talking small talk. Extremely unprofessional place if I ran this hospital I would fire everyone. Worst hospital I have ever been to.

Justine Camber

Whoever the lady is that answers phones for the pediatric dentistry needs a reality check. She is awful to deal with, she has a customer service job, you would think she would be polite and pleasant to deal with but that is not the case. She is not helpful and is plain rude which is completely uncalled for. Wish we never had to deal with this place.

Ashok Aryal

What’s a ashamed to Saskatchewan and Royal university hospital management? Awaiting for 3.5hrs with my pregnancy wife for emergency check up no doctors yet! This is overall stupid system and stupidness service ,,

spencer jeanes

Horrible experience, was waiting from 12:30am until nearly 6am, went in dealing with extreme shortness of breath chest pain and lightheadedness and was never spoken to once until they moved a group of us to the adult minor assessment, where this group of nurses finally looked at me and ordered an ekg, which took 45 minutes when they told me 5-10 min. So I recommend to everybody here they do not go to RUH, worst hospital experience I’ve ever had

My 81 year old mom was scheduled for open heart surgery the next morning so her surgeon called the radiologist directly to get an ultrasound done while we were at the hospital for her pre-op the day prior to her surgery. We sat for over 2.5 hours waiting for the ultrasound- turns out the receptionist who took the call for the ultrasound thought it was next week and the other receptionist mixed my mom up with another patient so was putting other patients ahead of her. No apologies just rude and uncaring.

After being transferred from St. Paul’s Hospital to RUH, I experienced some problems with the nurses on my floor. For one thing, I was not given a menu to order my next day meals from, for a few days. I was told to phone a number and they would give me a choice of wheat I wanted. Finally, after I informed the nurses that I am hearing impaired, they provided menus that I could use to make my next day’s meal choices. After that, my stay was much better.

Breanne Chicoine

Great facility though wait times are a major issue.

Very good staff (Nurses). Wait time in emergency is terrible. While waiting in emergency department for Dr. We can over hear conversations of dr and patients and 90% of the talks are not even related to health. They could easily finish up with one patient in less than 5 minutes which took them more than 25 minutes for chatting. Parking sucks anyways.

My child and I was airlifted from a small town to this hospital. When we got there there was no room for us. Waited for a while for us to be admitted. Stayed there for 3 days. The front desk Nurse transfered us to a room without telling us why. Found out that she was good friends with the other patients parents and got them the room for themselves. She was rude about telling us to transfer. ( bossy attitude) she is not suitable to become a nurse. The nurse that helped us transfer apologized for her. We also asked if there was an available parent room and the female on the front desk said no without looking at me or checking the list. I will find out their name and do a formal complaint. What a stressful experience. If there was a choice I wont come back to this hospital anymore.

Went at 1:00am, i wouldn't have gone if I wasn't in severe pain. Waited 5 hours and didn't even get a chance to speak to a proper doctor so I had to puke and puke and puke until I dehydrated. ;) They taught me how to cure myself, good job 5 stars!

Alexandra Urlando

Waited in the ER for over 12 HOURS. I wish I was kidding. The only tests that had been performed on me during that time period were a urine sample, blood test and an ultrasound. There were hours in between each step of just waiting, plus I had to reach out to nurses myself to get updates. I was admitted at 12:30 am and provided them with a urine sample right away only to have a nurse come back to me and ask me for another on at 4 o'clock because the other one was now "too old to be sent to the lab". Not sure why it sat around for four hours when I told the nurse dealing with me that it was completed? Doctor came in at 5:30 am asking the nurse why they hadn't collected blood from me yet when she has asked them to. This delayed things further and I didn't then talk to the doctor about the results from my blood/urine sample until 8:00 am. 10:30 finally came around and they took me to get an ultrasound done. It took them until 12:30 before a doctor talked to me about what was found. The only positive thing I can say is that they prescribed me some medication that should help my issue, but I was made to wait in agony for over 12 hours sat in a wooden chair in the waiting room. I've NEVER in my life had to wait around that long in an ER.

Holly Spuzak

Terrible service, my mom is staying there and they take forever to give pain meds, food is nasty and looks like dog food, only thing is the nurses seem nice. This needs to improve, train your cooks to cook proper meals, and get more nurses if needed to care for the patients.

Was forced to transport my wife from Prince Albert Victoria hospital to the RUH in Saskatoon for surgery because the her information on file was not being shared with the doctors in Prince Albert. Went to Saskatoon she was checked into the RUH emergency and was put in a room almost immediately ???? Her nurse for the evening was amazing ???? Surgeon visited told her that surgery would be the next day which was Saturday. ???? Now fun starts I left the hospital at about 9:30 pm ???? Parking was horrible yes I am very aware about driving in a construction area problem with parking was; Asked 3 different people inside hospital a lady cleaning the floors, the admitting nurse and at the information booth all sent me in a different direction. ???? Saturday morning which was the next day my wife was not checked at all by the nurse working the desk nor was there any food or water offered. ???? I returned to the hospital while she was in surgery and shortly after was greeted by a nurse who said she was my wife’s surgery nurse or operating room nurse. She told me my wife would be in recovery for maybe 30 more mins And then she would be going to her room ???? Approximately 30 mins later I received a call as my wife was being to her room and I could go with her As we walked my wife was rolled in he bed the nurse said that she noticed that my wife was scheduled to go home that night it was 4 pm then. The nurse mentioned that it maybe not a good idea to go home to Prince Albert that night in case there were complications or lots of pain as the freezing came out. She was very kind and helpfull???? Shortly after getting into her room the admitting nurse came in and asked my wife if she were ready to leave. He advised that the doctor was advising him that there was no need that she stay. I was very concerned and explained to the nurse that for the last two days I had to pick her up and lift her out of the bathtub as she couldn’t get out. As well she had just haD surgery and had 4 areas that had been packed. He said no problem just call home care and they would help or was now 5:30 pm on a Saturday. Home care is setup in Prince Albert by a doctor and they are not open Saturday night. He told me that I could pull the packing out myself. ???????????????????????? There were two other people in the room they received their supper the nurse to,d my wife that she had arrived to late to get supper and that she could probably find something to eat at the restaurant downstairs. ???????? The nurse once again started filling out admitting paperwork and asked several questions including was my wife allergic to anything once again she said penicillin. I should add she had told this to the people tha5 ha$ admitted her to th3 hospital originally. About 7pm the doctor with the admitting nurse arrived he asked if we had any concerns or questions and that in his opinion she could go home and that many times healthy people became sicker in the hospital it was his opinion that she could go home where she would be more comfortable ????????. I asked him about the packing and expressed my concern he said that there would be no problem removing it as it just pulled right out???????????????????? The doctor asked if my wife had any allergies she told him penicillin. He told her what kind medication he would have her pickup one was for pain one was an antibiotic ???? A short while later the admitting nurse arrived and asked how she felt and if she wanted to leave by this time my wife felt totally unwelcome and a little afraid of what tho of treatment she would receive if she wanted to stay???????????????????? She said I will go home the nurse asked again about her allergies and what happened if she did take penicillin she told him. We drove home to Prince Albert she spent the night in her own bed fairly comfortable.???? Sunday we went to pick up her pescription at a shoppers drug mart the pharmacist asked if she had any allergies she said yes penicillin, he looked a bit confused and said what the6 have given you is penicillin ???????????????????? The entire experience is unacceptable. ????????????????????????

My husband has waited 4hrs at emergency with a confirmed broken ankle and dislocated. He has observed alot of socializing between staff and no updates, no check on him. 4hrs and counting and he stuck in the hallway.

Nursing staff and doctors are great. The security/masking wardens are absolutely terrible. I aim to be extra safe so have long been a double-masker. I wear a pink professional mask under a cloth mask. The pink professional masks were provided by my SHA workplace. I wore this to SCH without problem. I wore this to RUH and was stopped by the warden who insisted that I wasn’t allowed to wear pink, it had to be blue. THEN she insisted that the cloth mask had to go UNDER the blue mask. This is absolutely incorrect and I told her so. She didn’t care. When I was finally allowed to leave with my very improper and unsealed masking, the security guy came running after me with a SHA poster and said everyone needed to mask!?? I know! Please let me do so safely.

I recently made a post saying it's a good place, it isn't. The wait time was over 7 hrs for 3 patents waiting 1 nurse lost my chart and some other woman's that had a broken leg and a bone was sticking out of the skin. She waited before me and took longer then I did to see a doctor and I was out less then 8 hrs I heard they spent 20 hrs waiting

The biggest contribution to postpartum depression would have to be the maternity ward at RUH. A time where a family should enjoy each other is spent stressed out and sleepless. The unit doesn’t care about sleep or quiet time during the late hours of the evening for families who spent the previous day/night delivering baby. They turn what should be a great time in life into a miserable long 24-36 hrs. The whole hospital is 3rd world quality and perhaps worse, something needs to be done with this health region as it is the worst in Canada by far.

Marisa Bou

Such amazing nurses and doctors! You blew us away with the love and care you provided my husband and I during the birth of our son. Each of you were fantastic!!! Many ‘thank you’s to all the staff for your support, patience and care!!

Facebook PAGE: Saskatchewan health complaints (JOIN!!) Does not meet standard of care! 10 hour wait for a 5 min conversation with ER doctor who was never educated on mental illness. RUDE, USELESS, UNEDUCATED, RACIST-NURSES & ADMIN STAFF that never attended to any of the patients needs (many visits and history repeats itself). Chatting about their weekend parties, laughing and gossiping about patients. Are patients supposed to attend to their own needs when they get admitted to EMERG!!?? SK HEALTH REGION/AUTHORITY CHANGE (unless you take pride in being sued for rejecting people for mental health issues?) You have hired stone cold hearted dummies to “care” for our community, no wonder SK health has the worst reputation in all of Canada.

Took my wife to emergency. She injured her back falling on a hike. She has previous spinal trauma. She sat and listened for 5 hours, of the nurses convos, talking about how quiet it is today. She never lef the waiting room. She was never re-checked while waiting. No one approached her, for a spinal injury. When her pain standing was a 5. Sitting was a 12. No doctor showed their face. For 5 hours. On a not busy day. As my wife left in tears, from the pain, the 1 nurse who triaged came over to see her. By this time we were heading back out of the city. It was either pick her up, or leave her there. She decided in tears, to leave, as no one had even approached her. To find out she has a disc issue. To see if she has further injured herself. To see what long term may happen. No one saw her.

Awful Covid 19 response protocol for patients and people visiting patients. Went in to see my dad who just had a heart attack, I was ushered to stand in a hallway with 15 other people all calling one phone number just to have a call busy tone. They wont let you enter until you get through. I called 100 times to finally get through, what a poorly organized system. Absolutely outraged.

Terrible communication. And it would seem that applies to the care also. I have had two friends with parents in there - one last year so pre-COVID and the kids are out of province but at least at the time able to travel there and be with their Dad who basically died because he was neglected in Kindersley and compounded by the bad care at this hospital. Bad (as in no communication) in the hospital unless you got in their face not taking no for an answer. Fast forward to now - different friend with her mom in for 2 wks during COVID. So that means NOBODY can go in and visit. The nurses were very nice when they did get thru but had to chase them for communication and call repeatedly. Nobody would ever call them back you were told to "try back in 1/2 an hour". What they heck is that?!! This is COVID times. To make matters worse her last few days (maybe week) she was transferred to a room with no phone so her kids could not even contact her. Your cases are low so that's no an excuse.

Absolutely disgusted. I have never seen a hospital treat patients with such little care. I had recently brought someone in for a mental health crisis (spiraling and suicidal thoughts) as I was unable to keep them safe on my own. We ended up sitting in the waiting room for 5 hours (not a single nurse spoke with us following triage). After 5 hours, we were brought to the emergency treatment area, where we were sat behind the nurses station on a recliner. Again not a single nurse or doctor came to check on us. Instead had a doctor walk past and ignore us 20 times, and the nurses napping at their station (I wish I was exaggerating that one, but I'm not). Eventually, we had to leave after overhearing the nurses talking. One nurse asked "What's wrong with that guy?" (referring to the person I had brought in) and the other nurse responding with "Nothing. He's just drunk". It's hard to have any faith in the health care system, when the people providing care dismiss someone without even talking to them. Fun Fact : If someone comes in with suicidal thoughts, it's normally best to avoid making them feel like even the doctor's and nurses don't care about them.

Alicia Jamma

I would like to give them a negative 1. Basically I witnessed a patient fall out of their wheelchair and start bleeding out of their mouth in a main hallway and no one came to help. I was in the hallway beside the MRI center so immediately walked into the MRI center to seek help. There was two people at the reception desk, and I explained the situation to them. One person from the office leisurely walked around the MRI center and informed me there was no nurses available. I asked them if they could call someone for help, but since they were acting so leisurely and unalarmed, I walked out and went to the CT center . A cleaning staff member immediately gowned up and came to the scene, while another called for medical assistance. At this point the patient had been given a face shield by their care-aid which was now covered in blood. THEN, someone with a stethoscope (don't only doctors and nurses wear those??) walked by the scene, super unalarmed. No medical help came, and the care-aid decided the best option was to take this bloody, elderly patient back to their ward. What kind of level 2 trauma center can't respond to an elderly patient spurting blood out of their mouth in a main hallway?? I don't understand. I emailed the patient care coordinators and ministry of health about this incident, because this should not be happening.

I dont know who to call at the hospital to praise a certain indiviual(s) following my c section in June but i really want them to know how great they were with me. I have horrible anxiety and have had post partum mildly since then but my stay at this hospital was amazing. My nurse put on music to calm me down and she was so down to earth... and the other two talked in my face to make sure I was okay... and to this day I still think of how amazing all the nurses and doctors treated me while I was healing. A better experience then my first child for sure and I wish these individuals the best life. Thank you!

I have a family member in intensive care in this hospital I do believe the nurses have been very good to her, I see people commenting saying this is a terrible hospital.. realy there is alot going on in the world right now there are people getting realy sick from the virus and I honestly think if ur going to the hospital because ur having suicidal thoughts u need to shake ur head .. the nurses and doctors are busy with alot of seariously I'll patients

doesnt matter

i went to the emergency room after a suicide attempt and all they did was shove charcoal down my mouth. i wanted to be admitted to the dube because i made it clear i wouldnt be able to keep myself safe, but they refused and gave me a safety plan telling me i can go home. ive gone to emerg numerous times and they treat me terribly because i suffer with my mental health. i know mental illness is a hard thing to treat, but the least they can do is attempt to make an effort. i feel very invalidated here and uncomfortable.

There are too few beds even after opening up a new facility Jim Paterson wing. People in hallways on stretchers. Very difficult to navigate their hallways. Parkade and shutte is good. Surprised to see plug ins for cold weather on ground level. Just hope we never have to go back there again. When the nurses make shift changes it is hard to get any info. Surely they have it on computer. Wasn't the best experience I've had there. Main floor food is expensive. Bring a sandwich with you if you are a visitor.

Not Sorry Lol

Ive gone to the ER a couple times a year with my condition. And not because of a few pains. Ive waited days sometimes a week of pain before I go, even then I second guess myself. I go when Im in so much pain delerium is my pain. The Doctors and nurses are fantastic Im usually admitted but most severe. However I understand the concern for drug use, I dont use drugs and it ticks me off when a doc is condescending, that its their job to find out. Yes I spent the last week in pain, do not look my best and yes Native. Tests proven, scars non so please not every person is a user! With that pain, I dont always go to the ER I always think somebody is worse than me they need help more than me.

My father was transported by ambulance from lloydminster to this hospital. At first I was very excited. Lloyd seemed very incompetent and everyone here seemed wonderful and attentive. We arrived from lloydminster and went right to the hospital around 5pm. They took him for surgery around 7pm When they took him away for surgery they asked me for my cell phone number and said that they would call me. I was sure to mention that we hoped to be here but that we needed to go get a hotel room. No call ever came. It took me 10 hours to figure out where my father was. They kept telling me he was in 305 emergency but he certainly wasn't. I just found out by a security guard (wonderful man) that his surgery is done and that it only took two hours so he was out around 930 10 pm. I have been worried sick calling that 1000 number to be told they dont know where he is for nearly 7 hours. How the hell do you lose a 66 year old man going for surgery on a tumor and how don't you call the family! How wasn't any of his information updated! How come at 1 am I was still being told he hadn't gone for surgery! EDIT I did email the hospital asking these questions. I still haven't received a response.

My 16 year old daughter is 20 weeks pregnant, she can feel her baby move VERY frequently throughout the day ever since 17 weeks. Took her in one day because she hadn't felt her son move in 3 hours and was getting worried because hes such a frequent mover and they took an hour to get her in and also told her that because she's only 20 weeks if her baby died it's not that important because she's not 24 weeks. Worst hospital to go to. She was sent to peds section after stating she was pregnant and then they told her that she had to go to maternity and then maternity wouldnt let her in and then we waited n watched other people go in while we sat there unaware if my grandson was even alive anymore.

Great and friendly staff. They make you feel very important. Had a knee replacement done here. I think out of the 3 hospitals I like this one the best. They do get very busy; and have a shortage of beds. For this reason only you maybe transferred to city hospital for the rest of your recovery. They also saved my life before that. As I suffered a subdral hematoma.

(Regarding E.R) Mental health crisis’s aren’t taken seriously. I’ve had to spend time in the hospital for my mental health previously so I figured maybe I’d be taken seriously but that wasn’t the case at all. Waited for 5 hours with suicidal thoughts and felt I was at risk to myself and overall decided that it would just be easier to go home. No nurse talked to me, no psych dr, nor anything was done to try to help me. Definitely not a good place to try to get help unless you’ve actually acted on something and having an actual physical health crisis.

Bill Golding

I want to give a shout out to Karen who does the booking for the MRI department. She went above and beyond to help me find the information I needed. She is one fantastic employee!

Kimberlea Lissel

I wouldn't even bring my enemy here if they were in an emergency. For the most part the nurses are amazing. The triage system is a joke, I sat for 4 hours marked as a 'wound check' after stitches from a surgery had popped and I had blood and fluid leaking through my shirt, just to be sent to another hospital.

Steve Whyte

My name is Stephen Whyte I was at you're hospital for 40 days for my heart failure, ill tell u what ,to all the nurses and doctors that took care I wish them all the best because they r the best.My heart may still broke but they were the glue that held it together .I'm going home to New Brunswick and taking a little pc of each with me .Thank u guys , a big hug to all of you Thank-you for everything ,I won't forget you .

Never in my life have I been so happy with a hospital. It is ran very smoothly and I had the most amazing doctor and nurses. Doctor saved my life to be honest, I have very bad depression, been dealing with unreal pain for 5 months now I've been off work until i can get my surgery. I live in regina and had no success with either hospital here and also tried moose jaw . No results , the doctor I seen was a very nice young fellow that went the extra mile and above, he got me a surgery date. Now after my surgery I can finally get back to my job and cant wait to be able to play with my baby girl again. God bless this doctor he saved my life literally.

August 2020 I went there with my 2 year old who had a milk maids elbow (its where the elbow pops out) his elbow was not going back in. We sat in a new treatment room with no one telling us what is going to happen and if there was any plan. After 3 hours i got tired of asking for information and getting nothing, i walked out. 15 minutes later i get a call from a nurse just mad as hell asking why i left and that there was an xray booked and all i had to do was ask the staff. I told her i did and no one knew what was going on. She then said if im happy with the treatment then please followup with my family doctor and hung up. Staff need to have more patience and understanding. I'm not mad at the situation, its an inevitability that hospitals can be short staffed but they need to communicate better with their patients.

What's happened to our health care??? I get there's a pandemic but seriously, not being able to sit beside the person in the waiting room who's literally dying is bloody ridiculous! I watched social diatancing happen and plenty of cleaning... Have some compassion and read the room people. Horrible unnecessary emotional suffering for no reason.

RUH= Death Hospital. Docs made a mistake in overprescribing drugs to my mother, now she is dying because of it. Docs covering for each other!! Apathetic nurses avoiding work. Nowhere near enough COVID safety in the building...people without masks wandering around, no enforcement of social distance. Stay away if you want your loved ones to live. St. Paul's and of course City Hospital are better.

I went to seek help at ruh for extreme anxiety and depression. Waited several hours with only one person ahead of me. He left after waiting so long and not getting admitted. Nurses/receptionists talked between themselves that he was there twice before in the previous weeks and mused “he’ll be back”. They did not take his or my situation seriously. All i got was a few pills for relief - which i explained wouldn’t be enough. Go anywhere else. I plan on it. They even faxed my prescription to the wrong number twice. An entire day of agony will little to show for it. The nurse said some people have waited for 72 hours in emergency before being given a place in the dube centre. How can people be expected to get better with this level of care.

Thank you to the nurses and physicians that attended to us in emergency. Right from the get go as soon as my SO entered they were ready for him. They asked him short and important questions and promptly got him into a room where he was taken care of by multiple nurses and the on duty physician. Throughout his peaks of suffering, they were able to remain calm and administer medication to alleviate his pain. Overall, the entire experience was prompt, they were able to give us his diagnosis shortly after running tests, and they showed a high amount of consideration and care for our situation. Thank you to the staff for what you did.

worse. I was waiting for four hours to see the doctor, but because I was bitten by a dog, they think it was not serious problem, so the doctor didn't want to pick me up. And then the nurse asked me to leave if I want. But I felt painful on the bit. Really disappoint on it.

I wish could give them zero but there was no option. Worst experience. I went to emergency but i had to wait more than 3 hours. Seriously? What do you mean by emergency? No one even approached me to check.

Ten god dam hrs waiting to see a stupid doctor omfg , I will never as long as I live ever go back to this emergency ward ever again , their fundraising foundation is never getting a fine from me ever again! And I will make sure any one that knows me will never donate a nickle to any thing remotely related to this hospital!
