REVIEWS OF Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre IN Barrie

Update to review below: I was diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago and was assigned an oncologist and radiologist at RVH. I had a very good experience at the cancer Centre. I’m upping my review because of my recent experience. My husband had a kidney removed at this hospital two years ago. The surgeon was great and the night nurses were very good but the day nurses were TERRIBLE. One couldn't stay off her cell phone and the other forgot his pain pill the second morning and then let his IV pain medicine dry up. The machine started beeping and my husband was sweating and shaking in pain, begging for a nurse. My daughter and I went to her 4 separate times to tell her what was happening and to please come and top up is drip. She simply would not - didn't even make eye contact or pick up her pace. Said he was next on her route, three times over nearly half an hour. He ended up being so nauseous after this he had to have a tube put down his nostril to keep him from vomiting because that could open his internal stiches. It was a nightmare that could have been easily avoided.

Careless staff

Stephen Osborne

The emerg staff are very informative and professional.

Chelsea Longtin

I wouldn't go here even if I was dying

Smacleod

Patient waiting room was dirty. Blood on floor, hair on the bed, and garbage from previous patient. Called numerous times and kept getting transferred to different departments and the hour and a half we waited no one came to clean it

Sushil Sharma

Worst experience ever. If the patients are dying due to pain, nobody really cares and emergency entrance is meant for quick care and not for 2-3 hours of wait in that pain.

Kate G

I just want to thank all the nurses and doctors in emergency room last night. I dont understand why so many bad reviews. Its emergency room you're gonna have to wait. The staff were all so lovely. There's a store right by the entrance where you can buy snacks and magazines to help you pass the time. If you think that's a long wait you haven't been to the hospital in the city. Here I never felt forgotten. Someone always came by to check on me and tell me what's going on. If I have to go to the hospital one more time I would drive here from Toronto. Thank you so much for all you've done for me hopefully I wont be back, but if I will I hope to see you all again.

17 secretaries, 8 janitors and ONE DOCTOR. 6 hours for blood work and still haven't been seen. There are more people working in the subway restaurant and the food court than there are Dr's on shift. This is ridiculous.

Woodie

They don't actually care about there patients.

Would give 0 stars if I could. My sister had knee surgery and they FORGOT to give her pain meds before taking her out of anesthesia. Then when she was ready to go home, they brought her a wheelchair with no leg rest. After telling the nurse she needed one with a leg rest as she can't bend her knee, they brought her a new one. Except this time the leg rest fell and they dropped her leg. When they finally got her to the door, they wouldn't even help my mom get her into the car. Always horrible here. Wouldn't trust them to cut my nails.

Dawn Tippett

I have a good friend in the hospital for some time now and they have been taking very good care of him. When I go to the hospital for my own needs, everyone helps out. I am only in the hospital for at least 1 hour every time I'm there. They make me feel very comfortable and happy. I have never had a problem with this hospital

Jessica Crizul

Horrible! Waited 4hrs for them to say nothing...or even worst what I already knew! Was told to come back in 2 days like we have nothing to do than to sit in a room full of people and wait with a 13 month old baby!! Such a big hospital with such a minimal care for people...Come on RVH we deserve much more than that!

moonhousing

The nurses in the E.R are incredibly insensitive to mental health patients. My sister attempted suicide and they were throwing mean remarks towards and around her. For medical professionals, you’d think they’d have more knowledge on the realities of mental illness, but I guess not.

Worst hospital in the history of hospitals ... been waiting over 5 hours to get a boil / infection lanced off my arse that is the size of a mini cannonball and all they tell me to do is sit and wait, i explained i can't sit and have been standing now for 5 hours they havent even offered me a warm pillow or blanket to help sooth the pain. Been lied too by 3 different emergency nurses that the doctor will be in-in a few minutes. Came in at 4:22pm it is now 9:22pm. I have seen better service in a portapotty. Oh the doctor will be just a few minutes, 2 hours later this quack still is no where to be found. 1 emergency doctor on the floor for over 5 hours? This place is such a joke. The CEO makes 5 million plus a year but RVH's excuse is they're under staffed? Such a pathetic joke. Literally gonna lance my own ass in a few minutes... APPARENTLY A BONE FRACTURE IS MORE IMPORTANT THEN AN INFECTION THAT COULD ENTER MY BLOODSTREAM AND KILL ME

Emma Sowa

i need to speak to the hospital by email someone help!!!!!

Christy MacMartin

Horrible, I waited in a chair in the operating room for 3 days after a miscarriage and was told at the end of each day that other people came ahead of me and I was bumped out, yet again. This was a procedure recommended by my family doctor and 2 O.B's on duty at R.V.H. I was re admitted everyday for 3 straight days. Waited all day and was sent home each night. I just have no idea why I was ever scheduled or rescheduled each day if I was never going to be seen. Again horrible experience, there was no compassion for a person who had a miscarriage unless it was when a different doctor at then end of each day would tell me. "Sorry to meet you in these circumstances, but we won't be able to do your surgery today" I suppose I was on the maybe list or the if we get a chance list. The sad part is they didn't let me in on the joke until the end of day 3 when I started to catch on.

Kevin Boddy

Waited 3 hours to then get moved to a different waiting room. Then once seen my the doctor she left for like 25 mins. Absolutely awful

I have had the best experience with RVH. The very first time I went in May 2017 and my life was saved by the amazing RVH team. I had pneumonia and was extremely ill. Ever since then I have brought my children to RVH and the wait time is nothing compared to the city. The doctors and nurses are amazing and actually listen to you. Thank you RVH for your excellent servic.

Mr Blue

Dr Mulder should be fired for his Mickey mouse practice.

Ali Mohammad

Very rude nurses. Really unorganized and unprofessional. They make u wait for so many hours. They kicked some people out of their room so they could clean the room and they said that they could go back after but they did not let them. So the people had to wait 10 hours for another room. The nurses are really rude and unfriendly. U would probably come here at 12:00 pm and u will leave at 12:00 pm 2 days later and 99.9% of this time is the time we wait. Then when u get checked up, the doctors will probably say you r fine even though u might be dying from cancer.

Mary Kaczor

I have to be absolutely clear that the lack of communication, transparency & accountability on the part of the hospital & staff is shocking. If families are not going to be allowed in to advocate for their loved ones then it is imperative that the hospital and staff increase communication and transparency. I have received only two calls from doctors while my Dad has been in hospital. I want actual answers regarding my father. I have asked every day when I have called for him to be placed on the crisis list for LTC. No one can give me a clear answer as to whether or not that has happened. I have asked for my father to be assessed for dementia (which apparently has happened) he was seen by Dr. D I asked to be able to speak with Dr. D and haven’t heard from them. When I spoke to a supervisor I was told that my father is “doing much better.” This is untrue. When I saw my Dad on Monday January 24 he was able to walk, his speech was clear, his urine output was clear, he was not as confused as he is now. Being told in a patronizing tone that “there is a pandemic” and being gaslit about my fathers situation is terrible & has left all of us feeling so deeply concerned about his care at RVH. He has been languishing in the windowless PRU for two weeks. He has undiagnosed dementia. Once a week visits for one hour, while is the hospital policy is truly insane & harmful to patients. This situation is cruel. It is not helping my father. I am ashamed of this hospital & the way it is run. There is zero accountability.

Be prepared for long walks, If you need assistance bring a scooter or someone to push a wheelchair

They are rude

The Double O Doobie Project

Quick in and out for my CT scan.... very efficient.

(December 21) I am really disappointment you nurses refused let us good bye to my father been non covid contact only body issues. if my father been no contact covid. YOU NEED LET US SAY GOOD BYE BY FACE AND FACE! I WON'T VISIT THAT HOSPITAL EVER AGAIN!

kasshway

Worst hospital ever my sister had a chest infection and she couldn't breathe they made us wait 2 hours in the waiting room and then put us in a room for another 2 hrs and said WeLl Be WiTh U sOoN yeah funny I saw people that were in way better conditions getting help quicker every one is rude and nasty I felt like fighting someone in there

Artem Tkachenko

Management of this hospital should be fired because they can’t organize normal workflow!!! It’s a shame! Just asked the nurse how many doctors they have.... answer: one doctor for 5 areas. ????????

Junglistic Soulja

Misseddiagnosed me with stage 4 brain cancer, luckily Sunnybrook found their error and saved my life....

Tashanté

I'm sorry but this is a disorganized outpatient clinic that cannot keep track of things when booking appointments. After the pandemic had started, it's really hard to reach anyone to renew my prescription. I can't go and see my psychiatrist in person, he has to call me. Hours past and nothing. It's been going on for months. Disappointed there's no email to contact.

Amy Rashma

Worst service we waited 3 hours for a doctor no one came someone could’ve died by then all the nurses do is gossip. Brampton civic is way more busier and yet the wait time isn’t this bad. Fix up. Such a disappointment and you guys need more professional nurses.

Sad that I have to give even 1 star for this but anyways here it goes. We went in because my wife had a fever 2 days after some rather aggressive surgery (the doctor that did the surgery in Toronto East General said to do this). So we got into the RVH and was asked to come to one of the nurses sitting there to take our information and given 3 tylenol for the fever right now. So far so good. Then we were asked to sit down and wait to be called. Great. We got asked to come back to the nursing station to basically repeat the information and give them her medical information... A second time... Then asked to sit down again in the same area.... Then called back again for more information... 3 times! We were then told to go into another waiting room and wait for a doctor... or nurse that'll take her blood whichever will comes first... Turns out neither in this case as we sat there for 1 1/2 hours when we saw 1 nurse have an argument with another nurse... You see what happened was apparently the nurse that was taking the blood decided it'd be super cool to go take a 2 hour break without telling anyone to fill in after them. So once she decided to take some blood from the people there she decided to go on another 15 minute break... Because you know... She must've been tired from taking 3 people's blood in the small window of time she was there. She decided to mention this to the other nurse and told her she was leaving at 10:30 to which the original nurse replied, and I quote here, "I don't care I'm out at 10. Do whatever I don't care what you do." My wife was in a lot of pain from the surgery already and just wanted to go home after being ignored for this long by everyone. Plus a few emergencies had come in so there was no way we were being seen at a reasonable time. So I asked one of the nurses if she could take my wife's temperature to see if she still had a fever. Fortunately it had broken so we bugged out of there. THANKFULLY there's another emergency hospital closer to where we are right now. So ya. The next time we go to the RVH Emergency Room will be on the same day that Satan goes skating to work.

Elizabeth Blaze

May 10, 2019. Was and is the absolute worst hospital you can possibly go to. The ER department is a joke, and God forbid you become an inpatient if you are someone outside of their economic class. You better hope you have family and friends who will be there to care for you because the staff sure don't.

Dina Ventresca

This is the absolute worst hospital I have ever been in. You are shuffled room to room no one checks in on you and you wait hours on end while nurses sit around chatting to each other in the hall ways this is pathetic. The worst hospital I have ever seen.

Jamie Embree

I would give no stars if possible. Absolute traumatic experience. Understanding that nurses and doctors are frustrated with everything going on, doesn't ever give people the excuse to treat others so horrible. Avoid RVH at all costs. NEGLECT is how I would describe how we were treated. If you're sick and needing treatment avoid this place. They will just leave you in a chair to die.

Dwayne Fortman

Was treated great here. People just have to be respectful to the staff. They are working so hard for us. I went there for a burning sensation in my upper back that is still there, but they ruled out my heart and a bone being broken and stuff. Just ask how they are doing and be happy you have access to a hospital people. Some people are grumpy but all it takes is a good conversation to make them smile. They are all there to help you.

Nataliya Bukhanova

Horrible place with unprofessional treatment. My husband went to RVH ER yesterday at 9 am with high blood pressure (170/120), headache and vomiting for the second day in row. As I found out later talking to another doctor, the ER doctors did not examined him properly, did not do neuroimaging and did not start bp reducing medications. They just treated symptoms: gave zofran and a pain killer (!) that of course did not help. When he was released, his condition did not improve, bp 170/120, strong headache. By that, the doctors put my husband in danger of getting stroke. Later yesterday night, he was taken to the same hospital by ambulance. At the ER, he was said that waiting time was 7 (seven) hours, no priority. Do not ever go to RVH if you value your life.

Ken Berenz

We had our grandson there on the long weekend Sunday 3 am , asked for a stretcher i was told there was none available. He had to lay on the floor like a dog, are you kidding me? Where are my tax dollars going?

Braedon Wood

Long wait times but friendly and knowledgeable staff, one of the volunteers even told a few jokes to lighten up the mood in the waiting room

sheila jones

I hate this hospital nurses not wearing gloves, emergency room is dirty seems like the perfect place to go to Get sick no better

Ashley Ferris

I come to The Emergency room monday sept 17th ! The wait time is way to long ! I waited 8 and a half hours before i got called to a room to see a doctor then when i seen the doctor i waiting 5 more hours until the doctor come back to see me after 13 hours in the hospital the doctors still dont know whats wrong with me !!

Zandra Ignatov

Was seen by the emergency department and they all did a great job. When I was then transferred to internal medicine everything went downhill fast. No one listened to my requests. My follow up appointment was then rescheduled by 3 months for no explained reason. It was a phone appointment. I asked to be transferred to the town I now live in and they said they wouldn’t. Or that my family doctor would. They haven’t even sent any info to my family doctor. Wouldn’t recommend in the slightest unfortunately.

Sergei Chulak

Worst hospital ever. Hours of waiting for nothing. Doctors and staff are not frendly got a fine for parking at dialysis spot when my father was in the emergency room after surgery even though had paid the parking fee.

Matt Tribe

Have been to emergency twice with my baby since he was born 7 months ago. Both times he has been treated with care, respect for him and us and we've been given good advice. Wait times reasonable given the size of the hospital and nurses and triage staff were excellent. Last night at 2am a man dealing with a drug related issue was put into the waiting room and we were the only other people in it. He wasn't belligerent but my son had finally drifted off to sleep after not being able to sleep due to being sick for hours. The nurses moved us to an exam room since there was space to avoid him waking up the baby. They didn't have to but it was much appreciated. Whoever was working in minor exam at 2am last night thank you! The MD we saw was also very good. Quick and to the point since he was busy but never made us feel rushed.

Jessica Cortes

This is the second day i n a row I come in to ER for hives. First day, they sent me to the wrong waiting room. Second day, (i'm sitting at the cubicle right now) have been waiting for 2.5 hours. It's not even a busy night and no one has come yet!!! This is terrible!!!

J C (Spaulding)

Im happy with the staff there they helped get rid of my pops cancer, so thanks RVH truely thank you

Rebecca Nichols

Rvh will ignore all toyr problems. If they dissmiss you from the er and u dont think u are ok? Most likely u will go to another hospital lile southlake and they will fully screen every problem. Rvh might let u go home with life threatening conditions like they did to me. Rvh is a joke.

John-Paul Chase

If I had to choose between bleeding out and going to the RVH ER, I would rather bleed out. This is probably the worst ever I've seen the healthcare system performing.

Howard Heintzman

richard duhamel

Incompatitent so called professionals !! One star is is too much but you can't post without one....unbelievable.

Cam S. Leslie

Friendly staff good & nice doctors

Greg Jones

Go to this hospital if you want an 11 hour wait and a dry IV stuck into your arm for 3 hours without any fluids actually entering it. When it becomes safer to drive out of town to go to a different hospital, it's time to get new/better/more staff.

Johny Buffet

friendly and knowledgeable staff

Yani Soul

RVH is a great hospital and staff is great however they are short staff and nurses are overwhelmed. They need to hire more staff. When you enter the ER the same nurse who takes the information to enter you into the system, is the same nurse who takes you to the triage to do your medical history and vitals. So she needs to stand back and forward to take care of the line and people waiting for the medical history . today the wait time is 5hrs is crazy ,also there is no lab in the emergency room . they need to do their own Draws the nurses after you wait to be seen by the doctors there is so many steps to be seeing we have a beautiful hospital and there is lot of money invested here. HIRE MORE STAFF ! and everything will work better and more FUNDING !d

Brittainie marie Foote

Every time I have ever been to RVH I’ve had nothing but horrendous experiences. Mainly when I had my daughter the nurses on the maternity ward are the most rudest humans I’ve ever met. The worst is a nurse named krista. I put in complaints about my time there and no one returns calls or emails.

Joanne Black

I myself along with many others I've spoken to consider the RVH to be the best hospital in all of Ontario! The nurses and Doctors are very knowledgeable along with being real down to earth human beings! The technology just keeps getting better and better! i always, along with my friends, donate to any charity drives for this awesome hospital! P.S. this is a pic of my adorable niece who was born at the RVH!

Mac

(this is referring to the youth mental health unit) stayed there three times as the time of me writing this. it’s not terrible but far from good. once you’re admitted you can’t leave until a doctor tells you, it’s not up to you or your guardian(s). the doctor takes forever to actually see you and it’s extremely boring. if you’re there you better pray you get a decent nurse, some of them are impatient and snobby. food is okay but prepare yourself if you’re picky because you’ll go hungry for hours if you don’t like what’s given. all and all i don’t recommend staying but if it’s a straight up emergency then it’s alright for that. just prepare to wait and be bored as hell.

Lanny Fitchett

Great service, very caring staff

Walter Rosenberger

They spent millions renovating the place but spent peanuts on the care givers every visit has been filled with misdiagnosis a get you out asap attitude and no compassion what so ever and then to boot outrages parking fees the place has mega potential but not with the current administration that is running this place it's a shame

Yoshi

Just went to RVH for the first time ever today. I found the staff to be very pleasant and accomodating. The overall experience was very good, despite my nerves over having surgery for the first time.

Mr.Weensinn _2

This place sucks, Waited 6-7 hours just to see the nurse, I ended up leaving without seeing anyone

Hussain Shah

Horrible horrible wait time. My dad needed urgent care but was made to wait 6 hours and refused to give him a pillow. He was already severely weak and needed assistance as he was low on blood, it came to a point where I had to give up and go all the way to vaughan due to the incompetence of ER here

Diana Boyes

Following covid protocol very well

Sandy Ferroni

I went in once with severe pain, told nothing really wrong. Then I ended up at another hospital, Milton Hospital with the same issues. I was told from the Milton Hospital I had 3 broken ribs!!!!! I find the the wait time is terrible. I wish they could learn from Southlake how to run an emergency department with better doctors and more organized!!!!!

Kash Onlee

Went in at 4am with severe vomiting, fever, and flu like symptoms. Waited 12 hrs in emerg. To finally get some results and be admitted. 3 days later I was discharged, But right before I walked out they advised thst another dr wanted to see me for prescriptions based on just taken blood work- results pending 2 hrs ( which we all know at rvh means more like 10hrs) so bc I had my family plus my 11 mnth old already downstairs I couldn't stick around. I was specifically told that I could call back and follow up on a prescription, come back and pick it up. Lol, ya right! I called several times and was basically told sorry, you were discharged and we can't reopen your file. I wouldn't have left if the nurse had told me this. I would have sent my family packing home to only come back later. Horrible service, horrible communication, horrible wait times.

Jim Roebuck

Amazing staff... Thank You! ????

Bill Boyes

It's a beautiful building. The care is nothing but scary.ive been in the hospital many time. ER empty left in the hall for hours screaming in pain and got meds only after passing a kidney stone Also stay in hospital was horrific. STAY AWAY

Adam Lloyd

Ha, this place is a joke wouldn't recommend coming here if your life needs saving or for any reason actually. No communication of any kind, extremely rude nurses, outrageous wait times and understaffed.

Neil Voutt

Great staff. Always fun. But make sure you feed the meters. Whooops

Anand Mohan

Honestly, this hospital is the worst hospital I had ever visited. I had to wait 3 hours in causality. The staffs are like running to nowhere and they are always busy. They don't have enough time to listen to us. For a scan I had to wait 1 hours and when I enquired they told me there are patients waiting for 2 hours for the scan. Seriously!! Is that the way to treat patients..? This place is like a waiting place and no-one knows what's going on there and they don't have any answers for our question!! I think they are understaffed and when they treat patients they were not wearing any gloves. Don't come to this hospital unless it's an emergency!!

Kimberly Cheetham

My 82 year old step father is in this hospital and they ran out of food and couldn't feed him dinner..... They said the best they could do is provide him with a chocolate bar and some snacks from the vending machine. Just wow.

Stacey Evans

I took my husband on January 6th, 2017 to the ER with severe pain in his left side. I cannot emphasis strongly enough the positive experience we had with the staff at RVH. From the desk clerk who admitted him, to the lab technician who immediately took him in for blood work, to the physician who saw him within 20 minutes, to the two nurses who consistently checked in on us to ensure his pain was manageable. The frequent updates by the nursing staff as to when we would be seen, what was the next step in the process, were beyond helpful and made the trip to the ER the least stressful experience possible. We arrived at 11:20 pm and were home, with prescription filled, by 4:00 am. Thank you very much to all the staff who attended to us. Your professionalism and high level of care were greatly appreciated.

Marley McKay

Very kind and knowledgeable ER staff- clerks, nurses, doctors; thank you for your care.

Aaron - Howell VA3FNI

Both my children were birthed here. Staff were very helpful. This is a world class hospital for support, but they need to improve there patient care position. If your visiting emergency expect a long long wait unless its a immediate medical emergency your better off going to one of Barrie's many urgent care clinics for respiratory or physical issues. Parking can be expensive if your there for many hours. Don't park anywhere else off property or you will be ticketed.

navid khan

Been to various emergency departments throughout toronto mississauga this place is the worse . Slow and understaffed . Dont go here go somewhere else in emergencies

Ivan K

I spent 9 hours at the hospital with my son yesterday. Yes, the wait times are crazy, however, doubt that it's the nurses problem, it's our health care altogether. One ER doctor running around , not able to keep up with the flow of patients. Nurses do sit around a lot, but what can they do if there are no more room to take new patients in... Tes ( nurse assigned to us) was great, she checked on my son every 30 min to an hour. She explained everything that was done and explained wait time. Also, pol stop going to emerge for a small chicken s..t problems.. we are our own enemies...go to a walk in...

Danielle Parkinson

If I had another choice I would take it. Emergency is sometimes a miss and when they miss they miss HARD! Went there tonight and waited 5+ hrs which is expected but they forgot they put me in a room, told me I was next then said I wasn't, and talked about my medical condition with fellow nurses and said that I was in pain from "laying in bed all day". If you are bleeding or broken I'm sure you'll have good care, but if you are in pain and they can't see it HA go elsewhere. At least somewhere else I won't be treated as though I am a non emergency and maybe actually receive care. I walked out crying after this visit and will rethink coming back very carefully.

Elisa F

Was admitted to RVH for four days with pancreatitis. The emergency room nurses were a bit harsh however I don't blame them one bit. The emergency room physician was very kind and thourogh. I was then transferred to the Cardiac/Renal ward where I was more then taken care of. Every single staff member was patient, kind and understanding. My one nurse (of many) Yolanda went above and beyond to make sure I felt safe and comfortable. She took alot of time out of her very hectic day to sit and talk to me. My attending physician Dr Parihar was genuinely concerned for my well being overall not just what I was admitted for. He had every resource availble to speak with me from nutritionists to smoking cessation doctors even a psychiatrist to consult on my current medication. Every doctor I met LISTENED to everything I had to say and came together to decide the best course of action. My stay was pleasant considering why i was there. From the bottom of my heart thank you RVH.

Jesse Leonard

My 6 year old son cut his leg and need stitches so hey give him a wheel chair covered in blood . So I tell the staff and get attitude from the nurse and have been waiting for 5+ hours... I highly recommend that you go to the orillia hospital if you can make it safely

Ana V calhoun

Friendly staff , takes off mask for hearing impaired ppl but won't let u wear ur own mask and I don't see no point wearing a sheep mask there's no covid they need to realize there's no covid .

Calvin Hensel

Amazing Staff and assistance in all AREA's I have found myself in need of service & Treatments here. The Cancer Wing and Doctor (AMAZING!), Medicine department where I have recently been diagnosed with a rare chronic nerve disorder and require monthly treatments have been most helpful assisting me and making sure I'm comfortable as well answer any questions I have during my treatment days each month. Lastly Imaging has been polite, courteous and ensured my appointments are kept on time. Many Many warmest thanks from both my wife and myself to all of you!!!!

Lilith Ghoul

wait times differ depending on your issue, but ive always have been seen, always been helped and got the answers/help needed! Never had a negative experience here :)

Carlos Arthur Petry

5+ hours just to be admitted in the emergency, and there were no more than 10 in line. Unbelievable we pay taxes for this type of service.

Mike Woods

Thank you for taking such good care of my Family

Sarah Mae

Good luck. And don't leave your family and friends in this hospital without checking on them.

Luigi Cicco

Clean hospital and nurses are very polite, but the waiting period is ridiculous, over a 4 hour wait just to be put into a room and not too see a doctor, the apparently don't have a doctor on staff in the emergency department and are waiting for a doctor to arrive!!! That's fantastic a hospital with out a doctor. Last time I come to this hospital, I'll rather make the drive and go to Toronto and see a doctor in half the time.

Miracle Worker

Terrible experience! 7 hours of waiting in the emergency department with only 13 patients in waiting at the middle of the night. My son having chest pain and elevated BP brought to the hospital to be treated right away. I thought they would treat emergency patients first. Very disorganized hosp. Will never go back to RVH!

My experience at the Royal Victoria Hospital was extremely pleasant and accommodating. I went in for emergency surgery and the doctors and nurses are excellent, I appreciate their professionalism and bedside manner.

Natalia Carlucci

Poor service for mental health in the ER and in inpatient. There are some very good staff members, but one or two brilliant staff members can't possibly make up for the very poor and disrespectful treatment of patients by other staff. I'm sure someone from mental health inpatient will see my review and gossip about it.

Patel Utsav

Emergency case and 8 hrs of waiting wtf….? You can get better hospitals than this useless hospital….!

Khadija Mehdi

Horrible wait time 7 hrs and doctor still not attending. Horrible patient management by nurses.

s a n d r o l i n i

The ER is horrible!!!! Checked in at 5PM and left at 2AM without any treatment because I couldn’t handle the waiting anymore and the staff laughing and chatting around.. The worst hospital experience in my life, thank you very much!!!!!

Kevin “Buddha Dude” Henderson

My elderly mother had a fall, that required her to stay in the hospital for over 2 weeks. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The building itself is absolutely beautiful, with a nice, multi floor atrium ,looking into the food court.

Nurses and anasthelelogists work very well with surgeons. Some of the patient care nurses are hit and miss but for thw most part are very friendly, caring, sociable and helpful.

navjot preetsingh

Rvh staff seems to be inefficient in case of handling bulk people, Or they are partial people in car are checked first and the one who are waiting need to wait for hours for a covid test.

Carrie Robbins

Disgusting, waiting 9 hrs to get a prescription and a test for a baby for a UTI.

PETER HUBBARD

I had a pace maker installed. I found all of the staff in Emergency and the Cardiac units to be friendly and professional.

Yesterday my our 4yr old daughter developed an ear ache, at about 5pm. We live in Alcona and there were no walk in clinics open past 5pm anywhere. My wife gave our daughter some kids tylenol to help with the pain and we headed out. We headed to the closest hospital, RVH in Barrie. I dropped off my wife and daughter at emergency at about 6pm. My wife kept me updated every half hour. Nothing after 2hrs...nothing after 3 hrs...our daughter is in pain again. My wife asked a nurse about getting our daughter looked at and the nurse stated that it would be at least another 1.5hrs. And that it was posted online (she made a point about that). My wife took my daughter, called me to pick them up, and voiced her displeasure with the entire situation to the staff, including a doctor who was there at the time. I also went in to emergency admissions and told everyone there that they should be ashamed of themselves for being part of a broken system that can't take care of our sick little girl, and for doing nothing about it. Apparently a 4.5hr wait time is acceptable. Well not to us. It's disgusting! It's not acceptable! Everyone in our health system should be ashamed of themselves for either accepting the situation or doing nothing about it. Those at RVH, you'll never see us again. Our family physician treated our daughter this morning and she did have a painful ear infection. She's better now. But what if it didn't turn out well? Who would I have to go after? There would certainly be others who should have to suffer. I'm sure that I'm not the only one to feel this way. Fix the system, somebody. Anybody.

When a doctor can't even read an xray properly you know you have a problem. I dislocated my wrist fractured the joint and tore every ligiment in my hand on a construction site went to the emerg and rushed through. The doctor looked at my xray and told me it was just a hair line fracture and to wear a cast for 4 weeks and it'll get better. The entire first week i went with 0 sleep going through intense pain and returning every single day to the hospital knowing something wasn't right each time hearing "oh the swelling went up we just have to extend your cast" Finally i got fed up and went straight to the fracture clinic to talk to a specialist the surgeon looked at the exact same xray looks at me and tells me "I have no clue what the emerg doctor been smoking but your wrist is completely dislocated and you need surgery he even showed me the xray. Now I'm no doctor but if there was a quarter sized gap where my arm is supposed to meet my wrist IT'S DISLOCATED.

Need to have a dedicated nurse or lab technician to take blood tests as soon as people are triaged. This would save so much wait times. Right now you wait 2-3 hours, then get a blood test, wait for the results and only then does the doctor see you. If the tests were taken immediately, it would speed things up. And how about opening a Fast Track Centre for those with cuts, burns and colds?

John Rucchetti

New facility, great staff ????

This hospital is complete garbage. Every time I go in there, I'm waiting for 7-8+ hours. Last night our one month old baby got very sick and we went in. No one was waiting but the nurses were all chatting with each other and made us wait a while before seeing us so they could finish their conversation. They made us wait for over an hour, then called us in a room and proceeded to leave us there for over two hours. No one knew where the doctor was. What hospital leaves a sick one month old baby sitting in a hospital for hours? Completely disgusting treatment and I advise anyone to avoid this garbage hospital.

Rochelle Salvador

Great team at Cardiac Renal! Work very closely with each other to find the best care for their patients!

This hospital is very organized and clean, just please ask the main front door receptionist to speak clear and a bit louder with people .

Louis Laplante

excellent care and leadership. great volunteers and cheap parking fees. Nurses and Doctors are excellent.

Very good hospital

Britt NyeTheScienceGuy

Had to give a 1 or would've been zero. 4 hour wait for nothing. Useless staff. Read every other 1 star review and you get the gist.

Robert Bisson

Every washroom is accessible its awesome

Abhimanyu

THE WORST... I repeat THE WORST. This is not the hospital this is just the big fancy waiting rooms. It’s been 4 hours inside the room and every time I went out to ask what’s happening they asked me to remain in the room . This is like literally a jail . Please don’t ever bring emergency people here . If I would have driven to Toronto probably I would be back soon

jason landry

The staff who were "hindered" dealing with me we're very thorough, kind extremely explanatory and went way beyond what is expected of them. Even paid for a cab to get me back to where I was. where I needed to go. Now don't expect; just because I said this that you'll have a cab paid for you to get back. it was just a very strange situation I was in. I was not willing to go with the ambulance and that was the way they talked me into it was pay for me to get back , cuz they really believed they needed to get me to emerge and check me out. And we all know you should always take the advice of healthcare workers. Thanks again rvh you're the best. Like to say always good to see your smiley faces but masks prevented that statement from being truth.

reilly gilder

Hospital used to be great now some of the nurses don’t have bed side manners the dr says your allowed to eat and the nurses refuse you to be allowed to eat even though the dr said you could! Came in for a head injury and they send me for X-ray of my neck mind u I am pregnant and they made me sign a consent in order to do it because they needed the X-ray

Cody Thomas Allen

I had such a great surgeon witch was DR.Korkala and great nurse looked after me I was hit by a car I broke my leg and my knee was shattered and my ankle and foot and I also have depression to as well

Bev Wood

RVH did a great job for the most part while I was there for 9 days in Aug 2020. All except for the fact I stopped breathing the first time they put me under then woke up during my surgery the second time! The doctor wasn't to happy, I was a little freaked out. ???? Other than that the nurse were amazing, over worked, caring, knowledgeable. I dare say the food was good and the cleaning staff were great too. I was grateful for everyone

Daniel Thomas

Continuous disasters with patients care and with the families. My girlfriend is not allowed to see her mother before surgery. The hospital has her and she broke her hip in there care last night. This reminds me of them sending my kids mother home when she was pregnant. I went straight to Orillia they did a c section and saved my daughter. My dad died from infection with bed sore. When I told doctor my dad needs a special mattress as he was paralyzed. He removed me from the hospital as he was offended. Going to lawyers Monday.

Horrible experience in RVH emerge last night. Let's start off by saying I work in health care so I tend to be more understanding and empathetic (espicially during this pandemic time) of the staff. However this is not the first time I've experienced this lack of urgency and quite frankly an "I don't care attitude". It was so quiet in emerge last night that the triage nurses couldn't stop talking about it. The triage nurse Amanda took a foot laceration patient who walked himself in prior to myself, who was in anaphylaxis and had administered Epi. First lack in judgement or just lack of experience. Respiratory trumps a cut any day! Definitely a coaching opportunity needed there! And yes she knew as the so called screener was taking sticky notes of patients complaints/symptoms to give to triage. Once in Acute (probably only because I started vomitting at registration) did Amanda non chalantly walk me there... Well half way - she was kind enough to point out my room was 2nd door on the right. My complaints and symptoms were over looked, I was taken off the heart monitor after only 2 hours post epi, despite me complaining of chest pain and I was discharged still while having angio adema on my right orbital and chest pain without a final check up. When I walked out 6 acute nurses were in a circle - not all wearing a mask and discussing their clearly very important lives. No labs were drawn, no doctor follow up, I was checked on once to switch my iv bags, staff was short and impersonal. If there was the option to give less than 1 star I would! Do better!

My daughter taken to emergency several times for overdosing, each time sent her home to do it again. She is severly mentally ill and they will not admit her. Psychiatrists are rude, nasty, and do a terrible job at helping those with mental illness. Released her at 2 am , we did not know , ended up back at emerg with another overdose, several times could have lost her.

Andre Goncalves

I came in to the emergency with my wife while visiting barrie for the day. She was feeling major lower abdominal pain and was vomiting. As soon as I told the receptionist we were not from barrie, I was told she would need to wait 6 hours. I felt discriminated because we were not from barrie and we would need to wait that long. I was also told that the emergency was full but looking around was not that full. We decided to drive back to our city (while she was still in pain and vomiting) so that I could properly take better care of her than the hospital itself. They didn't even have the courtesy to check her pressure while we waited or give her an I.v to help her keep hydrated. We felt that we were not in a canadian hospital with canadian principles. It is very sad and furiating that we have hospitals like this in Canada.

Nelleah S

I've been to this hospital many times.... the ER for myself, my sister and my children.... yes if you go to the ER you likely have to wait. THIS IS WITH ANY ER PEOPLE... obviously they prioritize as necessary. I have never left this ER feeling treated poorly, the nurses are busy and its understandable you have to wait in queue. Well... Today I had day surgery and I literally felt like a queen. From patient check in, to the operating table and post OP, I was treated like gold. The nurses were so kind and caring. Hospital was clean. Ginny the nurse was so thorough, asking many questions and going over every health issue in great detail. My surgeon Dr Fefelova and the anesthesiologist Dr. Lam were all phenomenal. So kind, gentle and informative as it was my first surgery and I was understandably nervous and unsure what to expect. I was offered a heated blanket several times which was very helpful as I was freezing. Nurses were always checking up on me. Great experience overall and I have the utmost respect and appreciation for the staff working here. I cant thank you enough for a smooth surgery.

My mother walked in with major head pains(MAJOR) and her left side of her body stopped working. She kept complaining about her head and the pressure she feels all over and that she can't sleep. Her left arm would spasm and she had no control over it. Eventually her left side went immobile at random times. It was horrible watching her go through this she was such an outgoing go getter. Anyways she went to RVH emerg a few times for these major pains and they kept telling her it was nerves in her shoulder until the last emergency visit she had in February 2019. This is when they finally gave her a head scan after months of visiting them for the same symptoms because it kept getting worst. Well they did a scan and found brain cancer. She was rushed down to St. Michaels and the professionals there were appalled at my moms medical history and story. That same day we found out she had major brain cancer. Her brain was swollen and had no room in her skull with the cancer. Our whole world turned upside down in 4 days. We had 1 hour with her as our mother. Watching your mother lay there after all these doctors did absolutely nothing for her and her knowing this was it for her was sooooo devastating. Day 1 we found out she had cancer and she had her surgery. Day 2 and 3 she was kind of coherent she couldn't open her eyes though she would respond with body twitches and kicks. The morning of Day 4 she passed away at 51 years old with her husband and 3 children by her side 12, 26, 30. She was a beautiful human being. Literally the perfect mother (everyone came to her for advise or for help with there own families and babies). She was a loyal wife. She was always decorating and redecorating. She was healthy as a horse. She exercised and ate well. But for the past few years she had troubles sleeping, couldn't shake her head aches and complained about her head feeling like its going to explode. Because that's exactly what was happening - her brain had no more room in her skull. P.s. I myself have had bad experiences here. The most recent had to sit in the waiting room while having a miscarriage (very freaking painful and messy). After an hour and a bit. I left and went to another hospital. I was in and out in 2 hours. I find the staff to be a mix of nice, most rude and some just incompetent like they just got the job because they know someone who works there. So you never what attitude you'll get. I would give a 0 stars if this was possible. Its the human experience of RVH that's horrible. They have all of the equipment and resources. There staff just don't do the best at listening and the doctors aren't the best at executing tests based on the patients needs and explanations. You can never know to much. Professionals like this should always be learning and researching. Unfortunately they don't. Knowledge is key especially when it comes to other peoples well being. But everyone just wants a paycheque. No passion or knowledge of health and evolution involved. Been in barrie 20+ years. I have a million more experiences from people i know and love that would give them a -1 star as well. Be your own health advocates and seek your own professionals. At times your doing the right thing but no one is truly listening so you have to change your surroundings in search of different levels of professionalism and competency. Its all about Humanity really. Finding doctors who listen and not just preach to you about what you feel as if they know because they are breathing for you in your body. The human body is not a book nor a movie, there are no two bodies identically a like - It develops, things change and situations evolve on there own even when no ones watching. So doctors listen closely and look closely.

Orkun Ozgiray

They even don’t deserve 1 star. If you have any emergency situation, you have to wait at least 4 hours. Thank you Canada????????

Dai Ana

Great hospital , very modern and beautiful. Took my mom for an emergency surgery and they treated her great and Dr Lalor was a great surgeon. Amazing hospital we are so lucky to have such a great hospital in Barrie.

Patrick Bongers

Such great staff! Kind, caring and professional. Thank you.

Worst place ever nurses are rude doctors don't know anything kept me in there for 2 weeks and discharged me saying your fine......wth

Kimmy “Kimberdoog” Quigley

My daughter was admitted on Saturday and unfortunately all beds were in use. The nurses in emerg were the best. They took awesome care of her and all the rest of the folks in the small area we were in. These nurses were run off their feet and still had such compassion. Thank you to all the staff in emerg. You all are great!

SooSee QEW

Serious concerns about the Colposcopy Clinic. Communication is voice mail and very difficult to talk to anyone personally at RVH including your own doctor. Lack of timely biopsy results and inconclusive results. Followup to eliminate invasive cancer is non existent. Treatment is not based on facts. Colposcopy Lead lacks experience. Would not recommend this clinic

Terry-Anne McCullough

On 29 Aug my son was in a car accident. We spent 3 hours in one room with noone checking him. We finally see a doctor who sent him for xrays and a cat scan for his injuries. It was not even a busy night. In emergency. It is now almost 5 hours that we have been here. My son's iv medication stopped over 30 mins ago. No news on the tests. No nurse has checked on him. The online showed us 3.5 hours waiting time but I am sure that the speed every moves here surely doubles that estimate. It has been over one hour now and we are still waiting on test results. With a head injury you would think that there would be some sense of speediancy

Iain R

Everyonr from the security at the entrance to the doctor who served me were stunningly friendly. You lost a star because i paid $15 for 2 hours parking. Toronto is cheaper!!

Asad Malik

Hi, I am waiting in emergency 6 hours no body treat me now I am thinking better I am going to home. This hospital waiting time and staff have very rude behavior.

Rebecca

Dr Chris Guest at this centre was excellent!

Bacon Forever

Had scheduled surgery -- total hysto., both ovaries, fallopian tubes and bad endometriosis removed and was staged for cancer. Quite pleased with the overall experience. The nurses are fantastic, as are the cancer gyni surgeons. The food is horribly bland and icky-tasting but that's to be expected. The upside is that the food didn't make me ill.

Valentina P

Honestly this has have to be one of the worst hospitals I've been to I went there feeling dizzy , stomach pain and not to mention I have high blood pressure wail pregnant 19 weeks they did nothing sat in the waiting room for over 7 hours as they let people that came after me go in before me ... Also told me I don't qualify for blood work

Brett Frerichs

If you want to wait 5+ hours to see a doctor this would be the place... About 6 hours in now and still haven't seen a doctor, seems they're too busy talking with their co workers and ordering pizza.

Ty Celli

ER is somewhat of a joke. To come in with an issue that requires immediate attention, just to be tossed off into multiple waiting rooms is a joke. Finally get to a nurse and you're stuck waiting on end again for anything. Not okay for patients who require immediate attention.

Roger Hargrave

Waiting and waiting and more waiting

Noor Alé

The screening process here is awful. They take note of your allergies, but not the current medications or pre-existing conditions you have. So their negligence could bring you back in which is exactly what happened to me.

Jessica R Newhook

Angela Castro

I had sinus surgery with endoscopy, my doctor is fantastic, the attention of all the personal starting on the door for me was amazing, all the time I expended in the hospital, nurses and personal support was helping me and caring me, I am very happy with the nice experience I had in the hospital. Thank you for this fantastic people who’s make our health process better.

Battlecat “Motu Crazy!”

If I could, this 'hospital' would get zero stars. The wait times are horrible. The doctors are idiots. The place is dirty. Black mold on the ceiling tiles of the examination room we were in. Mold....in a hospital!!! Hey Janice Skot, you might want to cut back on your $500 000 yearly pay and spring for some cleaning supplies and staff!

Tony Ponte

Horrible.......most horrible hospital ever

If you can avoid this hospital, do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. My handicapped 72-yr. old brother was taken there by ambulance after a fall and was diagnosed with a fractured pelvis (no surgery recommended). His POA (our nephew) visited daily, but was not advised/consulted about his condition until he interrupted a non-medical conversation at the nurse's station and demanded that a doctor inform him. They moved my brother twice without notice; my brother had been showing a great deal of confusion. Two days ago he was moved to Midland's Georgian Bay GH again with NO consultation, reason given, or notice . This is unconscionable treatment of a confused patient. I am SO angry!

Kimberly Walker

Called 911 for chest pain, and the paramedics were wonderful. Grandmother arrived around 9PM at RVH, and almost 8 hours later hasn’t seen anyone in the ER. She’s sitting in the hallway and it’s like it’s deserted, not a nurse or dr in sight. I seriously think my grandmother is going to die in the hallway waiting. The lack of healthcare at this hospital is not ok, and people are going to die because of it. Update: finally approached someone and they ignored me for a bit, didn’t want to help. They finally looked her up on the system to realize she wasn’t properly registered… by this time she had been waiting 11 hours with a possible heart attack. Finally did bloodwork and now waiting on results. This is by far the worst hospital I’ve ever been to… making me regret moving to Barrie. If anyone has an actual emergency, they’re going to die before seeing someone.

Linda Anderson

I was transferred out of the hospital from the fourth floor. I have left my purse there. My husband has called on several times to ask for people to look for it only to have nurses either hang up on him or do not want to talk to him about it. What the hell is going on with the hospital when they do not have time to talk to us or people not interested in talking to us!!!

Faye Ingribelli

My mom arrived at the RVH by ambulance after suffering a fall. She waited from 9:30 PM until 2:30 AM in severe pain from what turned out to be a broken shoulder. At 2:30 A doctor came in and ordered x-rays. The nurse came in at 3:30 and put my mom's arm and shoulder in a sling. My mom was given no pain medication until I requested something at 4:30 AM because the nurse couldn't understand why she was complaining about the pain and why the pain made her feel sick to her stomach when she was moving her around to put a sling on. No doctor came in to explain her injuries or why the sling was being put on until 10 o'clock the next morning. My mom is a senior citizen who suffered a severe stroke eight years ago. She was experiencing some confusion and a great deal of pain during her time at the hospital. I understand emerge can be quite busy and I understand the nurses could be overworked. But they managed to stand at the desk chatting about what courses They wanted to take and about their weekend activities etc. I feel that the treatment at the RVH was inhumane to leave a person of any age in that much pain for that many hours with literally no attention and no explanation of her injuries for over 13 hours is disgusting. I will travel far and wide to avoid the emergency department of the Royal Victoria Hospital.

sharron white

Absolute disgrace of a hospital. Rude bitchy nurses who have no compassion, the neglect they show their patients is unbelievable. If i could give negative 5 stars I would.

Dale Frew

What can I say about RVH, USELESS! My brother was brought in for a threat to himself by police and even after me calling and explaining his situation they let him out in about 12 hours. Told them that if they didn't evaluate him he may follow through with it the next time. With the lack of help from them my brother took his life 2 1/2 weeks later. RVH is quickly developing a reputation for you go there to die or will be helped in that direction! What ever you do RVH don't start up or get involved in mental health issues for sure because you fail big time!! How do you let someone out in 12 hours that was brought in by police with a rope and a family member tells you about the situation!! Because he tells you he is just having an off day and he's fine! Are you educated, trained professionals or just trained idiots that don't care! Hope this never happens to any of your family members because then you will feel the pain and disappointment my family is going through. You guys should pack up and maybe turn RVH into a grocery shop, you may be good at that! Packing things up and sending them out the door quickly!

Joel Reid

I don't know why everyone else is making a fuss about the ER, because that's how most Ers are. Anyways, My daughter went in for a tonsillectomy there and everyone was very nice. The surgeon, anesthesiologist, operating room nurse, etc. I would recommend this hospital if anyone would like to send their kids here for surgery.

WarkingTheUber

Basically the whole building is one big waiting room. Hours and hours of waiting for even the most basic problems the staff seem to remain clueless no matter how many times I set foot in here doesn't seem to matter what day. *edit* looking around I notice how many of the staff are just standing around talking, while we've been waiting to be seen for nearly an hour now. If you actually want to be seen in a reasonable amount of time don't even bother coming here.

Ish Kumar

Awesome doctors and nurses in birthing unit.

Me

I waited over 5 hours to be seen for the first time and when I came in it was empty. I looked around to find someone and I was told I was next and noone came for another while so i looked again and funny thing is that anyone who is suppose to be working is chatting on their cell phones. Everone was on cell phones in emergency! How nice! I'm dehydrated and have major pains and very sick and they think that I can wait. Noone came to check if I was ok. Never again .I rather go to a real hospital.

T Johnston

I went at 9 am this morning (Sunday). there was a line out the emergency doors. The man at the front of the line was in a wheelchair with a broken leg and had been waiting an hour and still hadn't even seen triage. He was also given a hard time about needing the chair where he pointed out he couldnt stand, broken leg!. There was NO triage nurse the 20 minutes I was there before I decided to try somewhere else.. the registration waiting room was full and the same 2 ladies that are always on the registration desk ( I know because I attend alot with my sick mother) were doing what they always do.. chatting with each other and not working. Those 2 women are always doing the minimal and are both very rude to deal with. I understand understaffed.. I understand waiting.. I went fully expecting that but this was ridiculous. I made the drive to South Lake in newmarket ( never been before)where i was not only triaged and registered within 15 minutes.. but I saw a dr and had several tests done and was out again within 3 hours. The staff were all very courteous and helpful and yes, they were crazy busy. I think RVH needs to monitor their staffing choices a bit better and maybe look into workers who come to do their job not just gossip and ignore people clearly suffering. South lake is by far superior and you arent just an inconvenience to the staff.

Dean Brown (Deaner)

Doctor was very thorough with my six month old daughter put her right to xray and on oxygen.....however short handed and wait time are ridiculous I've been here for 8 hours

chris stix

Half the staff is just rude and ignorant not sure if its just they hate their job or what but half of em just treat ya ur insignificant, nevermind wait times etc just talking decency and lack there of. Very disappointing.

Ayman Hallab

Worst ER I have visited in my life, I am currently setting with my son with high fever for over 5 hours and no one seems to care. The doctor and nurses are setting right out side the our room chatting and laughing yet we are suffering in this very dirty room. Ware of TAX payers money

Cloud9Aroma With Stephanie

I won't be using this hospital again Southlake regional hospital is my go to!

Alucard

The wait times are horrendous but that staff is awesome!

Kara

I do not recommend going to the emergency department at RVH. After going through triage and giving my info and symptoms I waited about 2 hours to see a nurse. They decided to check for heart attack and did blood work, ekg and chest xray. Waited another 2 hours for Dr. Kasperavicius to tell me they couldn't find anything wrong with me. My question is, if they suspected heart attack after hearing my symptoms why did they keep me waiting 2 hours before doing their tests? Also, despite telling them i had fallen twice and hit my head a few days before my symptoms started, they ignored this completely. The doctor said maybe a viral infection and to go home. The doctor didn't even physically check my neck for tenderness or range of motion. Symptoms got worse over next several days but not wanting to go back to RVH emerg I went to a walk in clinic in Orillia. After a proper examination was immediately diagnosed with a pinched nerve in my neck and a concussion both resulting from falling and hitting my head. Great job RVH and Dr. Kasperavicius for sending a patient home with an undiagnosed concussion and agonizing pain from a pinched nerve. 0 stars out of 5.

Stacey M Basler (Sunshine)

To be honest Barrie Hospital does not deserve a star for making children wait or anyone for that matter for a long period of time is very very wrong

Syd Shields

As a healthy 19 year old, I haven't had much experience in hospitals, but after my tonsillectomy, I was wowed by the excellence of the hospital staff and orderliness of the building. I've been to multiple hospitals mostly for visits or emergencies so I only saw how my family members were treated and my stay totally surpassed what I've witnessed so far! Not only is the building so beautiful, but the staff are so helpful and happy :) My father even said it was his best experience in a hospital and wouldn't stop complimenting the nurses and other staff. Not once did I need to wave over a nurse or call for help. I was so comfortable I could've stayed all night!

Jordan Peterson

Sitting in the exam room as I write this. They attended to people who came after me first and I am over four hours into my wait. Over an hour has been spent just in the exam room.. As in pending the doctor for over an hour.

Bonnie Bunce

Brought my granddaughter in after what we thought was a fractured arm. Wait time was next to nil, the triage nurse very personable and reassuring. The Dr. Was amazing. I wish I got his name. But we were all so worried about my granddaughter that we didn't pay attention. The Dr. Was so attentive, patient and very personable. Results were prompt.. didn't have to wait long fir exrays . After all that... thankfully no breaks noted on exray. Dr. Positioned my granddaughter's arm and elbow popped into place. Thanks RVH fir a wonderful experience. And thank you Dr.

Gypsy Woman

If you miss an appointment, don't even bother calling. I have tried 4 times in a row, there is never an answer or an answering machine, and switchboard refuses to take messages and is now refusing to answer the phone because apparently me wanting to leave a message apologizing for missing an appointment/reschedule is harassment Also the hospital is too big for its own good. Some staff are understanding and get lost themselves, but those women working behind windows are snooty af

Glen Cockerton

Wish I could give zero stars. Staff is brutal, rude and unprofessional. Wait times are awful

Max Rampello

3 years old baby had to wait 4 hours to see a doctor in ER, this is where our high tax payers dollars go, worst experience ever, not even in Africa treated like this ????????????????????????????????

Vicki MacLean

Birthing unit was amazing. The nurses were so welcoming (we had Bri and she was amazing). They suggested things I hadn't thought of ( such as using the whirlpool tub - which was an absolute dream while in labour). The staff at RVH truly made the birth of my daughter a dream! Was such smooth and magical process . I had my son at Southlake in Newmarket and what a difference. Put southlake to shame. So glad I decided to have my daughter here at RVH. I've also had a couple other experiences in the emergency room. One was for dislocated shoulder and was seen in reasonable time. Staff was quick to put my shoulder back and had me out relatively quick! Thank you.

Doctors and nurses are working really hard and they are beyond nice at RVH.My sister is at surgery 3 and they did their best for her. I’m really impressed.

Dont go to this hospital unless your dying went in for my teeth on sunday got antibiotics an pain meds to tie me over went again on Thursday to get the script refilled I was told by the doc on sun to come back if I needed more help with pain so I did an was looked at like im a junkie only drug seeking so I got refferal to see emergency dentist they took xray told me 4 teeth need to be pulled cause of decay an infection I know ohip will cover that in a hospital but rvh dont got an oral surgeon on top of that my mom was diagnosed with level 4 lung an liver cancer in that hospital they knew my mom was going to die but they still tried pushing advanced chemo pills witch cost $7000 for 120 tab an did nothing but kill her faster my suggestion to everybody is use herbal medicines look for other alternatives like marijuana oil when eaten will literally cause cancer cells to die

Muhammad Hassan

Worst! 5 hrs wait and they call it emergency. Very poor. Only 1 doctor in emergency at night. Hopeless. Ridiculous system.

Douglas Skyba-Smuszkiewicz

Understaffed. Doctor's do not update their patients frequently. Spent from 11:30am until 6:30pm for an examination and then an ultrasound. The waiting until well after 10:00pm to get the results. My girlfriend wasn't allowed to eat or drink during this entire time.

Lar Doan

Wouldn't want to be waiting to here life threatening results..relative in hospital for 4 days doctor has still not given any test results for the patient. Bad when a blood transfusion and have no idea why . Would rather travel an hour to Southlake

Barbells and Games

Our First child was born here and we had such an amazing experience. Such a clean and enjoyable hospital.

Leighanne Snow

I had a colonoscopy today and the care was awesome, everyone was happy and in a good mood and things moved so quickly, thanks to Daniela, Janet, Preet, Urszula, Dr.Lewis and Dr. Petrioniene for making an uncomfortable day more bareable

Kemp LeMay

Was there 04/15/21 in the emergency for a rather embarrassing situation condition. But the girls who worked in emerg that day (between noon and 5) were the absolute best and hilarious to talk to. Thank you for making me feel comfortable.

Alex Deschamps

Great experience

Sandy Kuznecov

Fast and efficient

Alex Topp

Only one way to put it. USELESS. They take forever to do anything. I went in to simply get a cast on a broken finger. Waited 2+ hours just the get an x-Ray. Garbage hospital.

Anna Good

We were at RVH this afternoon had a medical procedure done that wait was long but got to see a Dr for my issue very nice Dr very through worked on my issue gave me antibiotics and sent me on my way now the healing begins. Thank you again Dr Thompson.

Mrs. Lewis

I have had too many bad experiences here. One that I don't mind sharing is I broke my hand, went to emergency and had an xray. Waited 5 hours, I never saw a doctor or nurse, finally a student told me to go home because the doctor says nothing is wrong. The student told me to stretch my hand, which caused more damage. They called me to come back 4 days later and the doctor had nerve to tell me if he had seen my hand his self he would have known it was obviously broken. I have more experiences like that, but worse and more private. Recently, I have started driving to Toronto. In my experience all of rvh and surrounding medical buildings are terrible. No one cares. There are no standards.

Mac Underwood

So staff have been generally been friendly and are skilled at there jobs. But the wait times are very long. Make sure you pack to plan for a 7hr stay. Bring any pain meds, ice packs, blankets, lunch/dinner snacks and entertainment that you think you will need. It is very cold in the ER, sweater is key.

Danielle Gal

Upon going to the ER the lack of organization, and cleanliness is appalling. The Triage Nurse had no regard or empathy for my situation. I was met with attitude, eye rolling, and complete disregard for how concerned I was for my body and health circumstance. That experience alone made me leave and not continue anything further. Their entire demeanour was toxic, sighing constantly throughout other check ins, showing frustration and discourse to other patients. This individual should not be a nurse working for RVH in the ER.

Amarpreet Sran

I have had a few incidents where I found the nurses so rude at rvh.My brother was in hospital and every time I needed some help from nurse I knocked on the little door at the nurses station they looked at me and pretended they didn’t see me and after me standing there for few minutes they opened the door and said we are busy come back.Didnt even give me a chance to say what I had to say while I see they were having coffee I don’t know if they were on break but I mean if you chose to be nurse which is a profession that needs lots of politeness and compassion.I am very disappointed in their system

anessalife

my experience was awful!!!! The nurses were mean!!!! They neglected me!!!! I remember laying on the er bed in room 13 begging a nurse to help me unto the moveable toilet, she looked at me and walked away. they need to be readdressed!

I took my elderly mother in last week. She had recently had gull bladder surgery and had been very sick ever since. We went through the check-in process extremely quickly and were well looked after by both the nurses and the volunteers. She was sent for x-rays and an ultra sound where they found a left over gull stone that was causing her continual vomiting. They re-hydrated her and made her comfortable before admitting her while she waited for the stone removal surgery 3 days later. She had excellent care during her time there and I want to thank everyone in Emerg and in the Respiratory unit !!! Great job!

I had my first baby on Aug 27th 2021 at RVH. I'm not sure if it's been corrected since but the information on their website on how to get to the birthing unit was not accurate. It was a completely different entrance. To prepare for my trip to the hospital I had gone and checked out where I was supposed to go (which the website said the Atrium doors until 9PM, Emergency doors after 9PM). When I got to the atrium doors there was a sign that said staff only. When I spoke to someone from the hospital later on I had to ask them where to go and they informed me I needed to go to the main entrance. I think it's very important to have accurate information on the birthing unit portion of the website so patients can feel prepared for these hospital trips that can already cause some anxiety. I had to go to the hospital on the 25th and 26th to get myself prepped for induction. Although the experience was incredibly physically painful, the 2 OBGYNS and the nurses were great. Overall I must have dealt with 7 or 8 nurses and 3 OBGYNS. I had an unexpected C-section and the staff were great except during the surgery I felt like I had to throw up and the anesthesiologist was chatting with another employee a couple feet away and I couldnt get his attention. The staff took good care of my baby and I. In the recovery room the button to call the nurse wasnt working. Most of the nurses were helpful with breastfeeding but I will say (without getting into details) that one of the nurses might need some training on how to end the session (ouch!). An experience that still really upsets me is the first lady who drew blood from my 1 day old. What she said was "shes not going to like me but she wont remember". She did zero to help prevent pain from my inconsolable screaming baby as she pricked her foot. I later learned when 3 other people later drew my babys blood that there are tricks they use to distract the baby. One nurse used a heating pad on her foot and then the other foot to distract the baby while she quickly took blood from the first foot. The other nurse gave my baby sugar water to drink right before she took blood. My baby did not cry the other times because those nurses actually cared enough to prevent my poor baby from screaming pain. That first nurse did a very poor job at caring for my baby. There is no need to cause excruciating pain to a newborn that CAN be relieved. I understand when theres nothing you can do but just because they wont remember doesnt mean you should willingly cause so much pain to the new human

Jorge Serna

Very bad. I went with my daughter from 10:30pm to 4:45am...I have no idea why I waited for so long and in 3 mins the doctor said she was ok???? they must improve!

cono0680 cono0680

my mother had back pain so she went to the emergency room to try and treat it. they said we only accept real issues¨ turns out she had cancer in her spine now i dont get to have a mother for most of my life

Tuff scooT

So bad ! If u like sitting in a hall for 12 hrs to be told nothing is wrong with u then its the place to be 3 weeks later still have horrible pain. Thanks ;)

Ashley Pengelley

I went in with a concussion couldnt speak or talk my boyfriend tried to get the nurse attention to CHECK IN as they were doing nothing but joking about their weekend loudly. They then asked me to wait while they finished gossiping... worst hospital i have ever been too. The man behind needed even more help and they couldnt care less. I hope to god i never go back.

Vanessa Phys

All the staff are very helpful and caring.

Dr. Zu

Clean, nice, organized, professional. This was my outpatient experience as I headed to the imaging center here.

Roni Carr

Emergency staff are excellent and do there best. It is crazy in there sometimes but if people are just there because they want to see a dermatologist because they have a pimple no wonder the Emergency is busy .

Stephen M

Wait time in the emergency unit is very long and with only one doctor on duty I can see why. I do not understand why more resources are not being given to this hospital. Once I was admitted the nurses were great and while I was in extreme pain they did their best to keep me in a constant supply of fresh pillows and blankets as I kept moving and dropping the previous ones on the floor. In seeing my condition the attending nurse disagreed with the doctors initial assessment of pain treatment and ran out to find and consult with him immediately. The attending physician returned and set me off for a cat scan. The radial imaging techs were pretty bad and did not submit my results to the doctor and when the results were submitted they were incomplete in his opinion. At this point he decided to consult with a surgical physician who came and performed a manual exam. She determined it was most likely my gallbladder. She recommended we consult with her training physical just to be sure. He concurred with her findings and set an ultrasound for me. He ultrasound data confirmed their diagnosis and then they presented me with multiple options. At each step once I was admitted the nurses and doctors were fairly upfront with how limited their resources are and that I can expect prolonged wait times between each step. The nurses provided me with the appropriate care and checked on me frequently. They kept me up to date on what my status was and constantly checked on my pain to ensure it was being managed. When a bed was not to be made available for me upstairs in surgical they did their best to find me a bed and as quiet a space in the emergency room. After reviewing how long I had already been in hospital and the projected time of surgery they advocated on my behalf for a lift on fluids restrictions so I could have some juice and water. Once transferred upstairs to the surgical unit the same Level of profressionalism continued with the care I received from the nurses. The operating physician came to see him later on in the morning and reviewed to operations, possible complicatations and answered any questions I had. The anesthesiologist and operating room nurses were warm with a great bedside manor as was the observing surgical that was assisting. Each step was explained step by step. The initial interaction with the emergency room check in, triage nurse and wait time in emergency waiting would be the poor experiences I had. Poor attitudes and a greater concern with a few disgruntled patients that commanded all of their attention at times left everyone else concerned over what their priorities were. I would recommend stationing a security guard at emergency so registration and triage can handle and focus on patients

Been to RVH 5 times for myself I've walked out 3 times. Once was for severe pannic attack I could hardly breathe they had me wait hours, ended up walking out once I felt bit better and was able to breeth. It was about 3-4am and was not busy at all. Another time I again waited hours, there was a lady with her daughter around idk 5 or 6 years old this little girl was running around playing she didn't look like she was in any pain, the mother walkes up to a nurse told her my daughter has an ear infection she's been to walk in clinic was given meds but she still has an ear infection. The nurse brought her in right away meanwhile there where people that have been waiting all day. Last time I was there was for a knee injury I was missdiegnosed she told me ice it take antiinflammatorys and you'll be ok in about 2 weeks. Now 3 months later I STILL CAN'T WALK saw another Dr from a walk in clinic and I might need surgery wasn't what the Dr at RVH told me it was. Not to mention blood on the floor in the back waiting room. When I was getting my exrays done the lady was so rude, she was getting mad because I couldn't bend my knee. HORRIBLE SERVICE IN EVERYWAY.

Daddy Cool

Not a bad word about staff! They're fantastic. One star is for the inadequate staffing. I'm the ONLY ONE HERE in the waiting room! Arrived at 2pm...its now 5pm! I asked if there was only one doctor. Theres two. With all the billions directed to hospitals at a "great time of need" it sure looks like twice the money, half the staff....and a fraction of the patients.

ryan1801 ryan1801

Bad place they ignore your needs and health and they make you wait forever. thanks to them my mom now has bone mets. THANK YOU RVH!!! ! * I was being sarcastic*

Nanichifuru j

This is the WORST hospital, the only reason it got one star was because I had to hit one. The cardiologist looking after my mother who already had a heart attack once before left the RVH clinic didn't notify my mother and when she called in to see if she could get an earlier appointment as she was having chest pain not only did they forget to rebook her they actually tried to blame her saying she didn't call. So many bad experiences there is hard to choose but I'd have to say the one that took the cake was when they let our families friends 5 year old son DIE on a stretcher in the hallway, ... This hospital is a joke and needs a complete overhaul , if you have an emergency your better off driving to the city you have a better chance of making it out alive

Brooke Jackson

We had our baby at RVH last Saturday. We cannot say enough good things about the labour and delivery staff. Especially nurses Lina and Charmaine- highly skilled and exteremly supportive. Dr. Secter was confident and professional. Any mother should feel safe in their hands.

Emanuel Dobre

Called to inquire about something and the receptionist behaved like i was just no one, put me on hold for 30 min until someone else picked up and asked why i`m so persistent.... Hope someone sues this place until some people wake up and start firing some useless staff, including reception, plenty of people looking for a job out there.

Raj P

Have mixture of experience-some good some bad But I would love to appreciate the efforts of all the health workers serving us. ???????????????????????? RVH as the only hospital in Barrie..they are trying to match up and serving in this pandemic, our baby was in NICU and they took really good care all the staff were so co operative (some exceptions so less 1 star)

Tiffany McGregor

I notice most of the bad reviews are regarding the ER...the ER is not really the best option for anything other than emergencies and I don't think that other hospitals are much different save for maybe the top top ones with many more resources. I think it is best to find out the logistics before writing a bad review. I have had excellent care from 12 years ago when I had my c-section to now - if it wasn't for Dr El-Maraghi pushing for all options for my cancer care I could very well have been facing death in a couple years. The coordinated efforts of this remarkable oncologist along with teams in Toronto and Dr. Sharma here have saved my life. I had 16 tumours removed. Nothing short of miraculous in my opinion and I am grateful beyond words to have more time on this planet with my precious 12 year old.

Hope M. Pelufo

Very long wait, but excellent doctors, professional attention, and very kind nurses. I got all the tests and X-rays done on the spot, and got an answer that I really needed. If in Barrie, I would not hesitate to visit again. The facilities are also modern and convenient. If you visit the emergency, you will be triaged immediately but then the wait for the doctor was in my case more than 3 hours. The doctor that finally saw me, though, inspired me a lot of confidence, so I guess it is worth the wait!!

Karina Svetlaeva

It is never a pleasant experience, you just have to come here because it's the only place that can help you in case of emergency BUT they don't. You will wait 3-5 hours and will not get any help whatsoever. I had to take my husband with a high blood pressure of 180/110, we tried to walk in and the lady literally chuckled at us! Chuckled!!! They told him to wait for 4 hours! What is the purpose of ER??? Why is it such a frustration to even think about needing to go there?! When is this hospital going to do something?

Candace Reaney

Went in with light headed and nausea and was in and out within two hours, amazing service and polite people , Thank you !

Horatio Huffnagel

The only good part is the cancer centre. I did my follow ups there and it was run great. The rest of it ive heard too many horror stories. I don't know what it is. For one its under staffed. The wings are filled with the elderly waiting for LTC because there's a shortage of homes. If you want to see things improve at RVH contact your local MP and demand more be done about the shortage of long term care beds. Hospitals should not have to be retirement homes. Maybe after that they can get back to being a good hospital. DONT go to the ER you will wait a minimum of 6 hours more like 12 but that's to do with people not waiting to go to walk in clinics in the morning. Its a ER in a hospital people, not a I have a cold and need to see a doctor tonight centre.

Magic Fufu

I do not understand how the waiting time issue in the ER has not been solved all throughout these years. If RVH and the Ontario Government knew that there is a problem, why not find a solution or at least a remedy? Making people wait 5-10 hours in an ER results in either people just going home without being checked, or the Doctors just taking a "glimpse" on the patient and just ending up doing symptomatic treatment. THE FIRST STAGE OF SOLVING A PROBLEM IS ACCEPTING THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. And, if there is a will to improve the medical services in Barrie for everyone, there will always be a way.

Stephen Demeritt

They were quick and professional

Helen Bolshaw-Walker

They saved my life. Wonderful staff, the food is a bit grim though ;)

KELLY CHURCH

It was okay, but I went with a friend because she wanted testing done to see if she had breast cancer genes, she had to get a referral from her doctor in our town and we had an hour and a half drive there and she had to meet a genetic doctor and she took my friends history and after all that the genetic doc tells my friend It doesn't sound like u will have cancer so we can't test you A simple blood test is all they had to do but they wouldn't Sure hope my friend is okay and she is turning 40

Alexandria Damouni

Not one to talk bad however this hospital needs some serious education on how to properly treat and behave with people. Mainly From the first point of contact- (registration) these nurses clearly do not enjoy their job. I’ve had many trips here and every time I am treated like a farm animal. No hello, no compassion, nothing. Stone cold robots- the attitude projected makes my stomach turn. The staff in inpatient and the drs here are great when they are not overcrowded (due to a lack of drs here). But the front of house staff are just aweful in how they respond to patients. Needs work! And it’s unfortunate because the majority of the hospital is better than most

Alexander DaCosta

My brother was in a car accident and dr Grant refused to see him because he is black

Brenda Lock

IF you have trouble with fragrances better stay away!I am currently a patient here. the manger of the floor will not enforce the fragrance free policy because she can't smell anything tell my migraine that

neginalborz

I never back to this hospital emergency . No body care abut patients.

I Am Stuck With This Name For a Long Time

The views here are breath taking but I once got injured and needed stitches and I had to wait over a hour and people say they had to wait for 5 hours.

Rio Sheri

Laurie Ferguson

I was given a bed right away but have been waiting 2 hours and haven't even seen a nurse just the one who put me in the room. I am in agony. The room is dirty with dirty Kleenex everywhere

Brody Wood

They really need better service for taking care of people. I'd rather drive to St. Michael's. Always a 5 hour or more wait, even if your leg is broken. You guys need to fix this!

Sherri Reeves

If i could give a 0 rating i would.

hw love

Worst hospital ever. Never been so mad and let down .. I cant believe the treatment you get or should I say lack of. Not just once but a hand full of times have left so upset no real answers and gone to urgent care clinic to properly be taken care of .. All the money they raise you would think the care would get better not worse

Dianne Baddeley

I went in for surgery and the nursing staff were caring and competent , above my expectations. I wasn't impressed how things went after surgery, the second day. Everything was rushed as if they needed my bed. This hospital doesn't appear to be running efficiently.

Advocate Speaking

Botched operation. Sent home twice with a life threatening condition. Wouldn’t bring in the required Specialist 45 minutes away. Greedy Skot. Used a Surgeon with a terrible record. The Hospital is the worst. Do not let them touch you.

محمد بهاء الدين

I got my first baby here... Every thing was very good... Thanks to " Ireland" student and her college ... Thanks to "Imper" nurse too and all staff.

katherine north

Dont have a single good thing to say about this hospital. If i could give 0 stars i would, if you can go somewhere else then do it!

Sally Belgum

Well i carnt even begin ...it was terrible

david boatman

I'm wondering why they don't have their own map so that I can find the "Simcoe Entrance" so I don't have to walk all over finding it.? Simple but they rely on a google map from outer space.

Katelyn Norris

Not pleased at all. Took my mom to emerg. They didn’t tag her with an allergy band even though she said she has drug allergies. She reports this as the 3rd time they missed it. The nurse in the waiting room took blood without using gloves. The doctor came for the initial assessment in the waiting room in front of everyone. Then I watched 2 nurses converse about personal life for 10 minutes around a corner while the patients listened while paramedics waited to check in with their patient. Pathetic services for a hospital. Very poor. The wait was incredible for someone who could have possibly dislocated or fractured her hip. She wasn’t even offered a bed and had to lay across the waiting chairs.

Wendy Harkness

Do not go to this hospital unless you have to. Waited 6 1/2 hrs and necer saw a Dr. Finally left. Will go to a clinic tomorrow. Need a hospital, make the drive to Orillia . After being a nurse here for 35 yrs before retiring, I am ashamed of what it has become. We never had wait times like that, but we cared about the people, they where our job. So digusted.

CHARLENE NULTY

They are taking excellent, kind, gentle care of my 99 year old aunt who was taken here due to a fall, UTI and now pneumonia. She was uncooperative (deliria from the infection) and was refusing care. They persisted, but very gently and with kind words, nothing forceful. Despite the odds, she is improving! Thank you staff in the Palliative care area!

Patrick Best

The most unorganized hospital, my wife had a c section, the first nurse we saw after our daughter was born kept on saying “ how tired she is” .. who says that to a patient that was just in labour for 17 hrs and had to have a c section, after that our second day nurse was a “Floater” we were basically neglected our entire second day in the hospital aside when my wife would call for her pain meds, no one came in to help my wife stand up and walk a bit until our night nurse, who Finally changed my wife’s robes and her pads from her surgery 18 hours after the fact. The next morning the nurse manager came in to talk to us about what had happened and to apologize, nothing changed our third day. We will not be returning to RVH again, completely disgusted by this hospital after we had heard such good things.

David F

Do not go to the rvh for a specialist under referral . They see so many people everyday , they only help those they feel are worth their time . Also Dr . Hassa is a massive C

Jordan J

I'd leave a minus 2 star review if I could!

Kate Spray

I was very impressed with the doctors at this hospital. As well as the nurses. I am new to the area and wasn’t sure what to expect. But after not being able to get my daughter into a walk in clinic we had to head to emerg. It was a long wait, but that is to be expected when walk in clinics aren’t letting people walk in! The care was thorough. I was very pleased.

Brooke Marinellii

Gave birth to my son almost 3 weeks ago. The nursing staff we're amazing in particular a nurse Michelle (I believe her name was)in the birthing unit, whom I never got to thank. She was absolutely incredible. It was an extremely hard labor and couldn't have done it without her motivation. Wish there was some way I could thank her

Julie Ferris

The next time I enter this hospital I will have to struck by a car in they parkig lot! This place is a sick joke. Look at the reviews! They are are accurate!!

Ricky Palmateer

If this is what our tax dollars are going towards we as a society are in a whole pile of trouble. After over a week of being turned away from walk in clinics went to rvh Waited for a few hours in a waiting room that is not adequate for people in need of health care. Finally gave up and went home Figure that my knee will get better eventually and I don't need to be infected with germs from someone hacking and puking mere feet from me.

Haroon Adel

Nice hospital

Craig Dingman

We experienced exceptional care from RVH across all departments. From the emergency room doctor who was kind, compassionate, firm and clear about my fathers condition after suffering a severe stroke. To the wonderful, caring, and compassionate nurses in the Cancer and Palliative care ward where we waited for my father to pass away. These are truly exceptional people who do a tough job with love, kindness and uncommon consideration. They went above and beyond to support our family through a very difficult situation. Truly first rate care from some amazing people. My family is so grateful!

Joe L

My mother went in to rvh multiple times for pain in her back and blood in her urine from October 2019 to February 2020. She was miss diagnosed every time, with her waiting in excess of 8-14 hours for them to send her home, without any imaging, with drugs for kidney stones, or UTIs. After returning again in February they finally did imaging which immediately showed a tumor in her bladder, which turned out to be a stage 4 invasive bladder cancer. It was too late by then, no treatment worked, And every time we went in nobody had her files, or any information on what her current situation was. This was just the beginning of the miss treatment my mother received while being there, as there are about a dozen other instances where the unorganization of this place was greatly highlighted. My mom died last monday. She went from October to February asking them for help on at least 5 diffrent ER trips, finally had imaging in February, then her diagnosis, to having the cancer metastasize to all over her abdomen, multiple organs, and then to her brain. From February to june it had rapidly spread, and I Honestly believe that the miss diagnosis sealed her fate. If you are sick or dying, take the chance and drive the extra 30 minutes to Soldiers Memorial Hospital in orillia

Franca Dorella

Really l just called so l know what to do as my husband has a high fever and i got hung up on WOW nice way too treat people when they just want to do the right thing. THANK YOU MAYBE YOU SHOULD FIND SOME COMPASSION

Sharron Rivers

Any experience i have had at RVH have never been good! First off the wait times have always been 4 hours or more! Most of the nurses are are always rude and treat you like you are a neucence. And i find they never actually look into the problem. They take their best guess, write a prescription and boot you out as quick as they can.

Aaron Christopher

Sad place for a hospital, wait for 5 hours to get turned away, now I'm sicker at home even my family that works there says go else where

Dalveer Singh

Seriously this place is terrible, all the staff is hanging around, there 3 doctors of us and none of them give attention to patients. I can see them stopping for gossiping and taking multiple breaks while I am waiting here for 3 hours. I believe they are making us wait for so long cause they need to search symptoms over google. No doctor have degree or manners.RVH should be disciplined .I am paying here ,not here for free. They waste our time in which are valuable for many patients.

Trish OSullivan

Thank you to everyone in the ER & Trauma department. Visited RVH Saturday night after an unexpected accident. Staff immediately triaged and assisted me. Was seen by MD almost immediately. Had diagnostics done in record time (less than 45 minutes after arriving at hospital) Results soon followed and a treatment plan in place. I realize how busy ER departments are, and truly appreciate how much care I was given. Thank you everyone at RVH, I appreciate all of your hard work! You are all truly heroes!

Sarah Nicole

Cant even blame the pandemic anymore or covid. Emerg drs are useless when it comes to infants, because of the one dr that decided to give my 17 month old a covid test without checking him, missed his scarlett fever and strep throat. Way to go RVH!!!! Will never go here again.

Mike Woolley

I took my wife to the emergency department as she was having difficulty breathing. we did a rapid test on the 24th of Dec. which was negative. Dr. GRANT in emergency told us that her lungs were clear. it is an upper respiratory issue and that we had a hospital at home so go home and visit them for further testing as he would do no more for her as they where over booked and asked us to leave. he was a rude person with no compassion. when I spoke with the security guard and nurse they both agreed without saying this is normal for this doctor as they would not disagree with me. I understand that all hospitals are busy but you can't visit a hospital unless it is in your home town? this doctor needs his license suspended for playing god!

Victoria Tarsky

Terrible... Don’t go there for emergency!!!!

Julia Dezoete

I just want to give a shout out the pre op and post op nurses in the day surgery unit! From start to finish they were all personable and professional. They made the waits pleasant and definitely care about how you’re doing! Thank you nurses for your hard work and pleasantness to be around

Rajneet gill

Over 7 hours and still waiting to see a docotor. Horrible.

Debbie Rietta

Emergency department at RVH department has to be the most inhumane place to be people waiting to be seen in pain and nobody even checking to see if you are still alive. They put an IV line in my 92 year old mother's arm but it was hours later before she even started the IV . Very unorganized procedures and system .pretty sad RVH I thought we had a better emergency department than this! Needless to say the waiting time is pathetic..

Eddy Rochman

I have had 2 major trauma injuries in the last few years, that were treated at RVH. The experiences were eye opening for me, as I had only used hospitals in Richmond Hill, and North York prior. The speed and quality of service were 5 star. The staff were compassionate, and really great. The people served by this hospital, should consider themselves lucky, as compared to other areas I have had to deal with.

Eric Mcarter

If I could give 0 stars I would, this hospital is horrendous. They are very unprofessional and ignorant at this hospital. My girlfriend is a nursing student and refuses to work for this hospital. My aunt was a nurse and went to this hospital 4 times in 1 month to get told that she has a flu then she later passed away with a perforated bowel at the midland hospital (because she was vomitting blood and going through severe stomach pain). When my girlfriend kept telling the hospital that she was pregnant and is bleeding and crouched over in pain they dident even bother to help her and didn't even see a doctor for 9 hours. This hospital is the worst hospital in Canada as far as I am concerned. I will NEVER COME TO THIS HOSPITAL UNLESS I AM DYING. They need to do serious evaluation on the people they hire. They don't care when they talk about you or how they speak about you to other staff. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN.

Currently in hospital. Been siting here for 6 hours. No help. Nothing to help my throat. I tried to inform them multiple times that I haven't had anything to eat or drink for 24 hours. I really need my throat to feel better so I can do that. Been to a different hospital for the same issue was in and out within 3 hours. I was also asked more thorough questions at the other hospital last year. This hospital staff seemed to care more about gossiping while patients are sitting, waiting and in distress listening to them. The hospital is dirty, no sense of urgency amoung the staff. Waiting for test results shouldn't take this long. I've been siting here myself for 1 hour waiting for results. The people before me have been waiting for 2 plus hours. Absolutely disgusting. And the waiting room is empty. Stop gossiping and do your jobs. There's literally 4 of us waiting for results. Update: ended up being doctor was on call for trauma unit. He kept getting called away for hours for issues. If they had a nurse practitioner for acute care, patients could have been helped. They would have only needed a doctor to sign off on papers. In the end felt bad for the doctor but still feel if the emergency were handled better, these issues wouldn't have happened. The hospital also did some follow up calls after another doctor reviewed my results.

An absolute joke this hospital , all the doctors try and do is push you out with a guess of diagnosis. Disgusted by our health care system, becoming a doctor is like the weatherman these days does not matter if your right or wrong you get paid.

Holly Fay

We just had the best care at RVH. My newborn son and I were able to go to emerg and get fast and knowledgable care by some of the nicest staff. I am so impressed and thankful for their diligence and timeliness. My mind and heart are at ease this afternoon because of Emma in Emerg ❤

I was diagnosed with cancer in my breastbone (sternum) in June 2021 and the doctor who found it referred me to RVH. I did not receive treatment such as Chemo or Radiation for 7 months before I had surgery to remove the bone with cancer. This hospital always has large numbers of people in waiting rooms. I had both vaccines and a booster shot and stayed home to protect my health and life. Now they want me to have a chest x-ray at RVH which is a 2 hr return drive for me. I wanted to have my chest x-ray in Orillia hospital that is close to my home and which has a cancer centre. They refused so I could travel for 2 hours to meet with the doctor who assisted with surgery. I don't feel safe being in RVH with all the people. The chest xray from Orilliacould be shared with my doctor who is awesome and he cou ld share it with me. I can't recommend this hospital despite some good doctors and nurses. Seems patients don't come first to those running the hospital. I had cancer in 2014 and I recived excellent treatment at the Stronach Centre in Newmarket hospital which gave me 7 years of good health. I recommend them!

Today Sept 13, 2021 my wife gave birth to our baby boy. Staff were amazing and did everything in their power to make my wife comfortable and her stay easy and stress free. I decided that I would order pizza for the hard working nurses in the Obstetrics Unit as I knew they were getting hungry and were looking after everyone else and probably needed a pick me up. So Pizzas were ordered and delivered to the receiving area to RVH Logistics personnel, later told that they are an outside source helping out due to COVID-19. Pizza arrived to the floor where we were on and the staff thanked me, however there was pizza missing as I ordered 4 Lg and only 3 were dropped off from Logistics. Plus all the tamper seals on the boxes were cut and the boxes were opened. I ended up speaking with a girl at the logistics desk in the receiving area and she confirmed that 4 pizzas were dropped off to her. She later denied it and said only three were. Turns out that one of the staff stole a pizza and later played dumb and said that they thought it was for them. It’s not about the money or the pizza, it’s about the principle. Beware of the RVH pizza thief.

I’ve been to RVH dozens of times over the years (many broken bones lol) and had my daughter there. Yes, the ER can be slow but that’s also due to many people going for reasons that aren’t emergent and back logging the system. A lot of the space could use a face lift. The birthing unit staff were incredible. The semi private room was extremely small once you add the monster sized bassinets. My mom had to sleep in a waiting room size chair overnight. We did get a private room for the second night MUCH more spacious. However the air conditioning was stuck on (in November) and it was FREEZING in the room with a newborn! I had 5 blankets on myself. We requested maintenance multiple times over the 24 hours we were in that room, and of course they showed up as we were checking out lol overall, the nurses and doctors and all other staff have been lovely throughout all departments.

Sandra Mortley

I have been to emergency and had family members there several times. It is often crowded and the wait can be long. The staff have always been very caring and friendly. The last visit with my elderly mom, her stitches had come out and she was bleeding. After a wait I told them she was feeling light headed and still bleeding and they got us into a room right away.

Do better!

Kris Goncalves

They would rather you die in the waiting room then have enough staff to look after the patients. Very rude, uncaring, slow staff. Smells like diarrhea. Wait all night just for a doctor to not listen to you and brush you off. Don’t waste your time. Drive an hour to a hospital with doctors who care about their patients

Carol Henn

On Feb 24th I was seen in ED with a severe cellulitis of my right leg. I was assessed immediately by the triage nurse. Then I had someone take my demographic information, as well as why I was there. I had already been asked by the triage nurse what problem brought me there. The person taking my information took forever. I have never had an admission clerk take so long. I went to the room as directed and the nurse was there waiting for me. I immediately was shown to an examining room. Further info was taken, as well as my vitals being taken. A Dr appeared within 15 minutes. Orders were given. Treatment was started. After 2 hrs my IV of antibiotics were finished and I was able to go home. Total time in ED was 3 hrs. I found the doctor and nurse I saw were excellent. Very caring! I had to return later that night and the next morning for more antibiotics and an ultra sound of my right leg. My IV on Sunday morning was done with me on a chair in the hallway. Not very comfortable when you are not feeling well and are in pain. The attending Dr saw and spoke to me in the hall. Thank goodness it was only my leg he looked at. RVh talks about privacy and pt confidentiality. Treating patients in the hallway is a breech of patient confidentiality. Every one can hearj everything! It is obvious Rvh needs a larger Ed! Why has this not happened? Also, a nurse 's time can be better used than taking blood specimens. This may be seen as a cost saver to the hospital. It is not a good use of a nurse' s time. Has a recent evaluation of the ED been done? Maybe it is time for an outside reviewer to look at the emerg dept processes??? The staff that work there deserve this!

The dreaded mammogram! On time, professional, comfortable setting, fast!

Been to emergency many times, wait is long but we need to understand these doctors and nurses are on their feet all day working 12 hr shifts plus the rooms need to be cleaned after every person leaves the room , also need to understand they put the most important patients first EG( life threatening injuries) then trickles down stream which is fair.

Mike Doherty

Unparalleled facilities and staff in birthing unit and NICU. Doctors and nurses bedside manor is as masterful as their technical skills such as drawing blood, running catheters and administering my wife's epidural. I don't believe we could have asked for a better experience in an orherwise stressful situation. I know my child's care is in the best of hands at RVH

Hours and Hours of waiting without any information, regardless of time of day of patients urgent issues. I hear this time and time again in Barrie and from first hand experience. Go to Orillia or Newmarket.

Tyler Duncan

Absolutely the worst hospital I have ever been too, if I could rate a negative 5 stars I would. If for some reason I was in a horrible car accident I would politely ask the ambulance driver to just shoot me rather then taking me to RVH. Just saying....

Jack Rodgers

Service and wait times were amazing, student nurse and other doctors were very nice and helpful. HOWEVER, nurse named “Mandy” was super rude, rushing, and just belligerent. If she comes towards you, run home and treat yourself.

Linda Parkes

I went to Royal Victoria hospital today. The radio station Dock 107.1 has been in the new addition promoting donations for a new heart Cath lab. That way Simcoe county and Muskoka won't have to go to Newmarket for the life saving procedure. On Friday Stephanie my daughter told me she was doing her outreach palliative program at the hospital. She donated for the cause. Today I attended also and made a $100 donation. I was asked to go onto the website for the Dock and share my story. Here is my story! Please copy Dr Moss, triage nurses and staff at Cardiac Care Unit!!!!!!! HEART ATTACK MAY 9, 2017 Linda Parkes age 63! I really would like to express how important a Cath lab at RVH would be for simcoe/Muskoka. Women need to realize we don’t experience the same symptoms as men do. I had jaw pain it was like a vice grip was getting tighter and tighter. I had no other pain. We should have called an ambulance but who would think jaw pain was so serious. The nurses in triage were phenomenal. They saw I was hurting so took me right away. They did an ECG. And rushed me into trauma within minutes of arrival, apparently I was in the middle of a heart attack. Dr Moss was the doctor he was kind, caring and comforting he gave me aspirin and nitro and ensured me I wasn’t going to die. An ambulance was called immediately and I was rushed to Southlake with sirens blaring. I was at Southlake well before 90 minutes. I thank Dr Moss and staff at RVH who saved my life for acting so fast. In Southlake I was rushed into prep room then straight to Cath lab. Dr Plante performed my surgery and I required a stent I had a 90% blockage and some damage to bottom of my heart. All the doctors and nurses at Southlake in CCU were amazing and caring. May 10 I was sent to Cardiac care unit at RVH. I stayed there until Saturday. My treatment and experience was superb . The nurses guided me step by step and explained everything in detail. I left there with quite a few books and info to help me. The cardiologist at Rvh were also amazing. Dr Chen and Dr Shen. I’m waiting for an appointment now for 12 week cardiac rehab at Rvh. I’m one of the fortunate few who had a wonderful experience, and a happy ending. The ambulance drivers from simcoe county to York region were very good! I attended RVH today and made a $100 donation if I had more spare I would have given more. Some of my family also attended Rvh and donated. Thank you for taking on this cause to raise money for a Cath lab in Barrie. Many lives will be saved. Thank you

Christine Crawley

Worst hospital I have ever seen! WhenI moved to Barrie in 2014 I was warned by every health care professional on my block not to apply for a job here. Now that I’m a patient, I can see why. The corporation behind this ‘care’ facility is so cheap that they’ve let go all their FT staff in nearly every department. All the admin and logistics are done by volunteers. I was told the lab techs were let go, so the RNs and LPNs could do blood draws. If you advocate for yourself you’re a hypochondriac, or if you go to ER b/c your specialist asked you to! It’s ridiculous, none of the RNs have advanced directives- can’t even give a Tylenol without a physician’s orders. Ridiculous! Save yourself the misery and go to Orillia or Newmarket instead!

addia nasir

Absolutely terrible. They made the patient wait 6 hours, refused him a pillow, took in patients that came after him, and only managed to get his blood work done. Even then, they took too much blood and didnt even bandage properly so now he has blood all over his shoes. He's being taken to another hospital since this one made him weaker than before

andrew harrison

Nothing but good things to say . After spending the past week in the NICU with my wife & baby boy, they were nothing but very caring and informative . All the doctors and nurses couldn’t have been any better .

Ashianna B

One of the worst waiting times I’ve ever seen in a hospital emergency. The doctors when and if they examine you for whatever reason you’re there is horrible. They do not give you the time of day they just try to get you out and they are not thorough at all. They are passive and try to get you out as soon as you’ve waited your 5hrs to see them. I don’t trust their process one bit.

tmoney

@Emergency department: Very kind and caring staff. Very slow, but wonderful care. Needed treatment when my 9 year old cut her forehead on a stack of weights. The triage/ intake nurse who took our info even put a hospital bracelet on my daughter's stuffed animal; the next nurse put numbing cream on the painful gash on her face while we waited (4 hours) to see the Doctor. The Doc who saw my daughter let her watch a movie on his personal cell phone while he stitched and glued her wound. He had impeccable bedside manner. I wish I remembered his name. Long wait made bearable by the caring staff.

Kyle B

Waited in the waiting room for 48 hours then I passed away. True story. There is no doctors or surgeons. It is just a triage and waiting room. If I drove to Toronto I would be still be alive. RIP to me

Steve Brackett

3 days in a row at the er took 2 times to find a bladder infection but did not give good enough pain meds had to go back again all to be sent home still in pain is just me or shouldn't the hospital help people in pain not send them away this hospital is horrendous

will squires

Saying that the best hospital in Barrie is basically a walk-in clinic would be the understatement of the year. Me and my girlfriend have been sitting in the EMERGENCY for about 7 hours now and are still waiting for them to even have the slightest idea of what is wrong with me. I saw a doctor for 5 minutes; he scratched his head, pinched his nose and said to go for a scan. Obviously had no idea what is going on. Next time I saw this doctor was 2 hours after, and he walks by wondering if I've even got a scan. Goes to show how even the staff is aware of their faults and proceed to work in this unprofessional manner. He ends his shift about half an hour after this and a nurse walks by reassuring me another doctor has got me. This doctor responded with,"I know nothing." Very reassuring. We are still here waiting to see the results of x-ray and it's almost been 3 hours. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Avoid this place at all costs, drive the one hour to Toronto and the one hour back or you'll be wasting that time anyways waiting at RVH.

Christine Nienaltowski

In the last 10 days I have taken my daughter to the Rvh 4 times. One one visit they thought she had a stroke. Nope, home in 3 hours. On Sunday after 3 hours I didn't even make it down Georgian Drive and brought her back. Same doctor sent her home and told her don't comeback unless you have trouble speaking. Surprise she's back for the 5th time. So now there going to keep her for the night. If yoi want to die go to the RVH.

Corey Franco

Brought my baby in with a 103.4 degree fever. Waited over 2hrs. Was told the dr. Would be with us in a minute... another 2hrs passed. My chids fever steadily getting closer to 105f. Staff i polite idk if this is a staffing issue or what. But totally unfair for my child to wait 4hrs.

robin brandon

The ER sent me home after missing appendicitis. My appendix ruptured. I now have to take meds everyday to digest food. My surgery incision herniated and they missed that too and sent me home. Unless you are bleeding out and can't make the drive I suggest going to another hospital.

Colin

Receptionists are very unhelpful...

Erin Anne

ER is horrible!!! my daughter would not be alive today if I didn't get a second option after leaving this joke of a place! Take her home and let her sleep it off!!! right!!!she would not of woken up the next day.. spent a month in sick kids fighting for her life!! keep your kids safe and stay away!! Never going to live this one down !!!

Mike Cesario

This hospital doesnt even deserve 1 star. I have been waiting here almost 6 hours now and have not been seen by a doctor or have got my blood results back which were taken 5 hours ago. When you ask someone a question they could care less about you, but they will sit behind their desks chatting away with their co workers. Horrible absolutely horrible, find somewhere else to go even if it's a drive you will recieve the care you need. Will never EVER be back to this hospital again for any type of care !

Stephanie Brandon

Just spent 5 hours waiting in emerge when they said it was a quiet time of night. Haven't been to emerge in 6 years and the doctor told me the only reason I should come back is if I can barley spit into a cup and had nothing he could do for me. Completely rude and lazy. Then had to pay $15 to get out of the parking lot. This is a waste of time hospital.

Jeff Fagan

This hospital is complete garbage. Every time I go in there, I'm waiting for 7-8+ hours. Last night our one month old baby got very sick and we went in. No one was waiting but the nurses were all chatting with each other and made us wait a while before seeing us so they could finish their conversation. They made us wait for over an hour, then called us in a room and proceeded to leave us there for over two hours. No one knew where the doctor was. What hospital leaves a sick one month old baby sitting in a hospital for hours? Completely disgusting treatment and I advise anyone to avoid this garbage hospital.

Donna Fisher

After waiting for 2 hours for a scheduled appointment to see Dr Jarbo, he finally came out of his little office, wrapped in a blanket, looking unwell and unprofessional (no socks, hospital blanket, I thought he was a patient) . No apologies and didn't even address me, only my husband. This arrogant man clearly has no respect for women or his patients. I wouldn't let him treat my worst enemy

James Farnsworth

Letizia Dell'Erario

I went to emerge at this hospital, I also work in a hospital so I do understand the workings of a one. They were terrible, making the patients stand for over 30 mins because no one is at the front of emerge, that is before the triage (before your name is down to actually start the emerge process). They send you into three different waiting rooms, with no communication of what the next step is. You ask the nurses and get different answers, not to mention they sanitize absolutely nothing, patients are on and off other chairs and not one cleaner or nurse to be found, even the rooms they do not sanitize. They make the patients sit outside the waiting rooms, even if you have a gown and do not even give you privacy to change. I was in a gown with no undergarments and they left me in the hallway with all the other patients, they simple do not care. The only person working in that department is the doctor, the nurses are useless. Honestly, incredibly disappointing especially during a pandemic and this is the level of care they give. They are not even following the Ministry of Health's guidelines with COVID procedures, please save yourself the grief and go to another emerge.

My husband had surgery and the staff were fantastic. The doctor called right after to let me know what was going on and the attending nurse in surgery recovery also called me later to keep me informed. When I was allowed to go and see him in day recovery, his assigned nurse was fantastic as were the other nursing staff. I would go back there in a heart bezt and recommend this hospitsl to anyone. It is clean and volunteers were extremely helpful

Cate B

Staff ignores medical problems, will refuse to listen, will not treat or look into problems and potentially will make things worst. I also noticed staff not wearing gloves. Not very professional or competent, in my opinion. Take the time to drive up to Orillia, if you are able to.

Daryl Milley

Needed to make a trip to the ER and wanted to share my experience. I honestly can’t believe what nurses have to go through and deal with from the public and some people on a daily basis. Some of the stuff that was going on and happening I could not believe, and could not believe how people coming in were treating the staff when I’m sure they are so busy, tired, and giving their all to help. There was a nurse named Destiny who I saw just genuinely cared about everyone she was helping and doing her best to give everybody care and comfort with a smile and kindness. To me she is truly an example of what it really means to be a nurse, because Lord knows I could not do what they do day in and day out after witnessing what I witnessed. She wasn’t the only nurse who was amazing but she was the one who I caught their name. Also such amazing doctors who truly care as well. Thank you RVH for taking care of me while I was there.

Sue Herrington

Horrible emergency service . Have been here 3 times with my elderly mom and the wait time is minimum 5 hours .They do not check on people waiting and elderly patients cannot sit and wait for long periods. Hospital needs to improve their emergency services

Chantel Martorino

The nurses refuses to help me after I delivered my baby and was in extreme pain, and then made fun of me for asking for help; and later, tried to kill me by obviously giving me the wrong medicine...

Cory S

Emerg is slow, don't handle their patient case load well. Nurses are understaffed and frustrated which makes patients frustrated. My wife and friends have/do work there and nurses are constantly understaffed. They need to figure out how to become more efficient and be more compassionate with their patients. Go to soldiers in orillia or south lake in Newmarket

Linda Reid

My 87 year old Mother with late stage Alzheimer’s was recently taken to RVH with a fractured hip. She waited over 4 hours in the hallway with no vital signs taken, had to beg to use a bedpan and then was left her from the waste down with no privacy in the hallway. It took another 3 hours for a doctor to see her. The staff are overworked and stressed and as a result patients are ignored. We keep getting different stories from everyone we talk to. This has been the very worst health care experience we have had and she has been to another hospital several times during COVID 19 and the treatment was far superior than at RVH.

Elizabeth Pawliw- Fry

We had a horrific experience with RVH, beginning in the emergency department and continuing through to the children's mental health unit. We were yelled at, dismissed, ridiculed and treated like imbeciles. Our concerns were not taken seriously and my son was discharged without an assessment, a treatment plan or a review of his medication. It was a terrible experience. I cannot believe how badly many of the staff managed our situation.

Alexa Peller

This is a great hospital if you want staff to be rude to you and neglect you for hours because their personal conversations are way more important than patients who require urgent care. This place is absolutely useless. I can't understand how this hospital is still around and why it's so protected by the media, that they won't report anything negative about it or its staff. Disgusting. As I was writing this review, I had to take a break for a minute and speak with someone in triage and she turned out to be very professional and pleasant. So I just wanted to add that not everyone here is a write off.

jennifer robben

RVH sucks

Rondar Pazlov-Paterson

Anyone here giving a rating higher than one star is a fake account set up by the management. When people in my family have illnesses/injuries we drive to Soldier's Memorial or Southlake, regardless of severity. That said, if you're interested in euthanasia the waiting room is a guaranteed - if not guaranteed painless - option. For all intents and purposes Barrie does not have a hospital.

The Punisher

I want to thank all the front line workers for their courageous efforts during Covid but do yourself a favor and save hours waiting on emergency visits by driving to Stevenson Memorial in Newmarket. Way better care there.

Summer Zawadi

This hospital is the WORST hospital I’ve ever been to. I literally had an asthma attack, I was about to pass out because I could not breathe and they made me sit in the waiting room instead of getting me immediate help. The nurses don’t do anything to help the situation. When ever you go into this hospital you’re always told that if you are short of breathe or having trouble breathing tell them right away. We’ll trust me it doesn’t get you anything but a long wait in the waiting room. This is not the first negative experience with them. Every single time I go to this hospital it is always a negative experience. I would rather drive 1 hour to go to a hospital in Toronto then come to this unorganized, understaffed place called a “hospital”.

Kristy Sargent

This is the worst hospital I have ever been to. From my two year old daughter being misdiagnosed for the last three months and being brushed off as just having a cough to the staff outside our room cursing and swearing about not getting a raise and hating the job. Oh and the 4 hour wait with a feverish very sick baby when the waiting room had two other people in it.

Ricardo Desequeira

It's a hospital. Long wait times to be expected.

Britney Kats

Just move to Barrie and had to go to the hospital due to extremely bad pain in gallbladder also I am pregnant I've never waited so long in my life to receive any sort of medication to help subside the pain got there around 12 wasn't given any pain medication until about 5:30 in the morning I was happy that they did check on the baby had to come in the next day for an ultrasound and then waited there 4 four and a half hours for them to tell me that they cannot do anything and just to take some Tylenol to help with the pain not sure if that was even the problem still in pain and debating on driving back into the city to get a better answer was I was debating on Switching this to be the hospital that I deliver in because I live right around the corner but with this service it was absolutely terrible I was also told not to eat so at 5 in the morning I have a little sip of water to take the pain medication I wasn't able to eat I had my ultrasound I was extremely dehydrated and had to beg the nurse to give me something to drink after my ultrasound became extremely light-headed and was told not to eat even though I was not even admitted super disappointed in this Hospital.

Shania Paige

Security were aggressive, hospital doesn't seem to care about Mental Health. I've been treated horribly with zero respect, I've been made fun of, injured, broken arm, multiple bruising and cuts from the security guards at this hospital. I don't recommend anyone to go here if you have mental health, you'll most likely be treated poorly. Restrained for hours, drugged up, have been told to go through with my thoughts. Not only security but I've had doctors and nurses as well. Had an incident of them cutting my clothes off in front of 4 male guards, which I know is very inappropriate. I can't even explain the amount of trauma they've put me through. This doesn't include how bad the cops are there, this isn't even close to what they've put me through. Police have not only told me to end my life but threatened to shoot me if I returned to Barrie. I want to help others avoid this, SPEAK UP! Do NOT let them get away with this type of behavior.

Ellen Elizabeth

Yesterday I had a partial thyroidectomy at RVH. My experience with ALL the staff is definitely 10+. Everyone I interacted with treated me so kindly and respectfully, right from the Central Registration, to the prepping area, anesthesiologist and the surgeon. I stayed overnight and the nursing care was wonderful. I have never been treated so thoughtfully and kindly in a health care facility. These folks are the real heroes and I have the utmost gratitude and respect for the work that they do.

Josef Gams

My hospital experience was beyond excellent. The nurses and staff are very kind and full of compassion. The Dr and nurses that operated on me made feel soo at ease. The meals that I had , tasted really really good. Overall I think the RVH has the well being of its patients as priority number 1. Thank you to ALL for everything.

Cody Zabel

Only use in an absolute emergency.

jason sonier

They tell u to be there at 10:30 still sitting and waiting now 1:30 y have appointments my time no less valuable

Lisard White

I would give this hospital a zero star rating if possible. COVID restrictions are not an excuse for lacking in care and compassion. Sending sick patients off to navigate appointments independently is unacceptable.

Shirley Swan

My diabetic daughter was taken by ambulance to ER with back pain, vomiting took 9 hrs to see doctor 11 hrs before xray and ultrasound done which showed she had acute kidney infection and pneumonia in one lung 14 hrs to get admitted to room. She stayed 4 days, 1 of those days they forget her lunch. Was released from hospital ahead of the long weekend, in less then 15 hr later had to call 911 and rush her again to ER. Now in ICU with life threatening condition. Was slowly making head way and for dinner today received a yougert 2 months past its expiration date. I thought you could trust your hospital to help you get better, now not so sure.

Germaine R

I want to go here

Courtney Lavigne

The lady at front desk reception er helped me alot I was very stressed out from my health issue and she helped me relax. I had to go by myself to the er and I am terrified of hosipitals.

Uhrich Joseph

A beautifu hospice floor, staff, Lounge and care. My father spent his last days there and I'm so thankful he passed in such a caring hospital.

Glen Taylor

I will never go to RVH hospital again even if it was life threatening. I will definitely take my chances. On Jan 5th I had a ski accident were a toe binding did not release and my knee rolled out of the socket. I made the mistake of going to the nearest hospital. Wasted five and a half hours for absolutely nothing. I told the doctor I saw my knee roll out of the socket when I tried to stand on it. They took X-rays and said I did not have any fractures but possibly had a MCL sprain. When I finally got my MRI at a different hospital in Hamilton I had a completely torn ACL, tibia fracture, MCL tear, and both meniscus were torn. If you are a Doctor or Nurse that worked in the Emergency on Jan 5 you should reevaluate your career choices. I am afraid of what other mistakes have occurred in that hospital. I just did the sign of the cross. If Doug Ford is going to make cuts axe that poor excuse for a hospital.

Robyn Pitocco

Terrible hospital. They’re currently making emerg patients wait in the entrance of emerg or out in the cold. Waited over an hour and they still hadn’t even taken my health card to register me so I left and went to Orillia where I was immediately registered to be seen.

Purple Monkey

Nurse was literally vaping in her office in the psych ward. When confronted she just out right lied and said she wasn’t. No soap in the washroom. When asked, she said it was because of COVID. On what planet does that make sense?! If you weren’t insane when you arrived, they’ll make sure you get there in short order.

c g

Do yourself a huge favour and go somewhere else for treatment! Absolutely appalling care here.

This Review

Recently visited the hospital via ambulance, I was not screened for covid, not even 1 question. Secondly the nurses who do registration were extreamly rude & lack any sort of compassion. I had to go and beg for help and Instead of reassessing my medical needs and the fact I was 10/10 pain I was told how long I had only been waiting. " you have only been here for xx minutes" To your er nurses I was not a human, mother, daughter, sister, wife or friend. I was just a healthcare number with a waiting time. However the er doctor was wonderful and I'm grateful for her!

James Drury

Great people within this hospital, always looking for the best care for patients.

Bob Mikkelsen

Terrible describes this hospital. No one cares, lousy doctors and nurses. Avoid this hospital like the plague.

Kyle McRae

If you were in an emergency, you would be better to make an appointment with your family doctor, wait the 3-6 months for the date instead of going to this hospital.

Julia Ranitsky

The worst emergency care I have ever seen. My dad was going into kidney failure, bleeding from everywhere while the triage nurse and administration found it entertaining. As I kept on asking for help (at least an IV line as my father was loosing fluids rapidly) - I was told that apparently there were at least 4 more patients like that. Funny but people in the waiting room didn’t seem to bleed at all!!! We ended up driving him to another hospital 40 km away. Thankfully made it there on time. Some people should really reconsider their professions!!!!! Awful and absolutely horrifying experience. Way to represent your hospital ????

Kelsey

RVH mixed my baby up with another baby. When the wrong baby was weighed, this resulted in a dramatic weight loss being reported which raised red flags, and we were left to prove we were infact not neglectful parents and were properly feeding our son. My family will never walk through RVH doors again.

James Malinowski

WORST HOSPITAL EVER.

Sakeena

I highly doubt the education of these doctors Never had a pleasant experience with them However the cleanliness is top notch which is the reason why I managed to give them a one star:)

Megan Elliott

This hospital is disgusting the staff is very rude never come here !

Adam Masters

THE WORST CARE EVER HAD MY CERGION TOLD THEM I HAVE TO BE ADMITTED THEY WONT SHES DO ANYTHING SHE HAS ASKEF THEM TO DO AND THERE JUST SENDING ME HOME I HAVE CELEITOSE AND LYMPHOMA ANS A INFECTION AND THERE SENDING ME HOME THERE SENDING ME HOME

Nadia Zaidi

I was wheezing when I came to emergency. I was taken care of right away and moved into trauma. I was attended to immediately and several nurses helped me out. I had 2 doctors treat me and eventhough I was admitted and I had a few different nurses, they were all compassionate and doing their best to make me feel comfortable. Warm blankets and constantly checking in on me. I must say when I see the stress that these nurses and doctors go through a little positive comments only makes them want to do a better job in helping the human race. Thanks a million????????

Kirushanthy Ganeswararajan

This is far the worst hospital I have visited. After triage we are waiting for 2+ hours to be seen by a nurse and it is a quiet night as per the EMS that brought my dad to the hospital. There is barely anyone at the emergency post triage. Including family and patients it's been only 5 people since we arrived (including my dad and I). 2 people has been seen and the rest are still waiting.

Louise Laliberte

Today is October 15th, 2020 and right now, as I type this, the doctors are complaining to one another about how Covid is "not a big deal" and "it's just a flu" and how annoyed they are by all the fuss and inconvenience of Covid safety measures, suggesting that instead of all the safety measures, Covid should be treated like a regular flu and "Who gets it, gets it." I began this post with today's date, because it's RIDICULOUS for any health care professional, in any capacity, to be speaking so flippantly and dismissively about a deadly PANDEMIC and they did so in ear shot of waiting patients! If RVRHC wasn't the only hospital in Barrie, I wouldn't want to go there to ask for band aids!

Blue Angel

Unbelievable the wait times at this hospital! Don't bother coming infact u will catch something before u are seen!???? Bye Felicia!

Carol Mielke

The staff were excellent and really looked after me well

Kristin Brough

Worst experience ever. I’ve been having extreme abdominal pain with nausea and vomiting off and on for 3 1/2 weeks now. My family physician had advised me to go to the hospital if the pain worsens and nausea and vomiting happens so I finally took her advice. The only treatment I got was pain medication and bloodwork. They told me they don’t really no what’s causing the pain to continue to go to my family physician and stop eating fatty foods that might help. This is why it took me so long to take my family physicians advice and go to the hospital in the first place.

Sean Paterson

Horrible wait times. Been 6 hours now. Still waiting to see a doctor. Staff seem to be in no real hurry. Would recommend you go elsewhere. Worst hospital I’ve ever been to!!

Corrie Sturgeon

Such a good experience. Very professional and kind. Thank you. Corrie Sturgeon

Cal Paolucci

For one of the nicest hospitals in ontario this is by far the worst run hospital. The staff and people running this hospital are unqualified or incapable of doing their job. My wife was misdiagnosed twice with a kidney infection. Left sitting in a chair in excruciating pain for 14 hours. They did not give her pain medication or antibiotics for hours. When she left they offered her Tylenol and refused any other pain medication regardless of her intense pain. They also mishandled the birth of one of our kids. Numerous friends and family have had horrible experiences here. Stay away. Drive to Southlake or even better right downtown to university st and visit a real hospital for proper care. Absolutely disgusted with this hospital.

Lawrence Branton

Great hospital.. really friendly staff

Paul Salvin

This looks like just a waiting room than a hospital. Usually even in a overpopulated country we can get better and fast consultation. Here they make patients wait to 5 to 6 hrs!!!!!! The emergency dept is making this delay. So I wonder how the normal patients suffer! If you are bored come here to spend your whole day. Surely at the end of day you can meet the doctor here.

Troy p

if you come here for anything be prepared to wait a days shift 8 hours plus like I did first and last time coming here

Ronald Kostiuk

Treated kindly and professionally

steven arbuthnot

I waited over 9 hours for a blood test.... enough said.

T

Nurses are extremely rude and uncaring in the emergency department. Facebook should be banned from the nurses. I could clearly see from my room and hear them laughing and making fun of patients. The nurses wouldn't even get an elderly patient a blanket, pointed and told the patient to get it themselves. Pathetic. On the upside, Dr. K. Armstrong was great and caring. But really these nurses are a joke.

K Walker

My son was brought to RVH for mental health concerns. The unit was state of the art and very welcoming. Despite my sons challenges, his nurses were so understanding and patient with him. Due to my sons condition and unpredictability he was assigned a security guard to watch over him. When I came to visit, Chris the security guard was so engaged with him, talking about cars and playing soccer. Much appreciated, thanks everybody:)

Ruby Parkes

Aug.14,2013 I was referred to your radiation/oncology for a consultation after my masectomy. I was amazed at the help and support of Dr. Stevens and his nurse. I am a senior and his patience with medical explanations and answers is superb. I never felt like It was a rushed visit or taking up to much time. I am extremely impressed and thankful to know there are still understanding specialists out there. Keep up the excellent work.

Mitchell Knelsen

Horrible

Sandra Millen

My friend survived two massive heart attacks. After two weeks was up walking/ transfering from bed. Looking forward to coming home. Hospital diseases hit! First ESBL....recovery.....Norwalk.....recovery....rehab.....wounds......mrsa....cdiff.....now no longer with us. How much can a body take? You have COPD and they clean room with bleach wipes!!! Urinals share same table as food tray!!! I could go on with more....at end of day RVH really needs to review how they clean facility.

ixi ipi

Way too much administration and paperwork required by the doctors and nurses. I would estimate less than 5% of the time is treating and 95% of the time is bureaucracy. Also, it would be nice if the nurses would at least ask how you are doing once in a while and provide emotional support instead of chatting about their personal lives.

jody davis

Worst hospital and dirtiest I have ever been too. Was in a car accident and was told to go sit in the waiting room.. The nurse says ya just bruising most likely and says Advil will help but I can't give it to you if you have your own you can't take it. Really and after a car accident you have to wait in a waiting room. Left and going to a clinic.

zan c

In my experience, if you have a scheduled appointment referred by a family doctor, this place is fine, sometimes even pleasant. But that doesn't make up for the negligence that can happen when you come to the ER. Dangerously unpredictable and inconsistent. (Edit: Take back what I said about the non-emerge care being good. They just moved my appointment back three months)

Berfina

Terrible hospital and emergency department…Nurses are rude and not helpful. Hours of waiting time in emergency rooms…I had to wait 8 hrs to see a doctor. Nurses are joking around, laughing and eating in front of the patients that waiting hours and hours to be treated. It does not matter how much you are in pain, staff won’t even care and tell you to wait. Waiting time should be fixed ASAP. I never seen emergency department like this before. Why it’s called emergency when I had to wait hours to see a doctor.

Gordon Hamilton

I stayed in this hospital overnight for 3 days. They are grossly understaffed on the floors. There was equipment left out in various halls in need of repair (mechanical beds, monitors, other...), and some of it would have been VERY useful for the poor veteran who was in the room with me. While recovering myself, I eventually started restocking scrubs outside the rooms and washing the bathroom just to help out... The surgeons were fine and surgical staff fine. I have been to emergency and it is o.k. too - your wait really depends on what the triage says is a priority AND whether they have enough staff at the time you are there. Regular visits/non-emergency visits are o.k.,... wait times are "reasonable" (non-emerg wait will be 1/2hr to 2hr wait for some services, but 2-4+ hours for other services. There is a very sterile, administrative feel to things though - so you will not get much compassionate feeling. Admin Staff are usually behind glass (security reasons in the modern world), you wait like chattel for long periods (and if you are in pain or distraught it seems like forever), and it is obvious that many staff are stressed. There ARE some volunteers around during the day who will help you or chat but they are limited to the extreme with what they can do for obvious reasons. Overall, not a bad hospital for most things,... comparable to other hospitals for what is being offered... just the execution of the offering is a bit lacking in some areas. You do not want to stay there over night and do not expect anyone to ever take a personal interest in your well-being in emergency - you are being processed through a system that is understaffed and trying to get you in and out in an orderly fashion... That is it, they do not have much time to CARE for you, just heal you (and in the case of emergency ... your needs are queued by priority, you may not experience much until they can get to you...). I watched and listened to various people yelling or crying for attention or help... at times they were sitting next to people in MUCH worse conditions who were being far more patient... to make things better... staff COULD calm people by educating them a bit as to what will happen shortly, etc., etc. but some folks are just not in any state to listen. All about managing expectations. When you are short staffed... makes it even harder to help. Other aspects of the RVH are pretty good. If you are getting cancer treatment the new centre there is pretty decent. I needed care for a broken bone and the Bone Clinic handled things well and quickly...

Io Szeged

Not helpful, ignore your problems and try to change subjects to talk about something else completely unrelated. I had to go to this hospital for appointments at least every month or few weeks for 4 years. They were not helpful towards my issues in all that time. So many hours wasted at this hospital. It was ridiculous 2 stars is almost Too generous, as lots of the staff ( and i had seen lots) seemed undertrained or uninformed about their jobs and service areas. Terrible

Mike Tutakiewicz

Absolutely absurd. After arriving at 315 today, and waiting the customary 1.5 hours in emergency, I spent the next 1.5 hours fuming after patient after patient who had arrived after me was seen first. I politely inquired about my place in line several times, each time being assured I would be next or to wait 5min. I am sitting in rvh parking lot writing this review, as I contemplated whether the employees cannot tell time, are purposely delaying people who dare question the wait, or are simply incompetent. If your emergency is any more severe than a paper cut, due not visit this hospital as you may die in the waiting room of old age

Kelly Daulman Case

I have a son with a mental illness in the hospital right now and today the doctor told him he is a drug addict because he needs a Avila for a teeth that broke and said they are not a dentist office. I will be going to the NEWS with this all he wants is to be on the right meds for his deppressen. THEY MAKE IT LOOK good but no one comes out feeling like they have been.

Dan Gudmundson

We have been going for 5 weeks for radiation and chemo. We have had the best care from entering the hospital, one guy we get a lot and he makes our day he is so caring and always smiling than off to the cancer unit where we continue to be greeted with a caring staff member. We have never had a bad experience since start the treatment.

Bev Watson

Terrible! I am appaled and embarrassed to say I work in healthcare given the disorganization and lack of genuine caring experienced and observed in RVH emerg. The 'blue' brigade volunteers are the most engaged and pleasant people in ER. Taking time to introduce yourself and make a human connection can go a long way to alleviate the anxiety, discomfort and frustration that is the reality of visiting a busy emerg dept. The inhumane assembly line care only adds to an already distressing experience. Treat others as you would like to be treated!

Google user

Maternity ward is horrible. More concerned about pushing paper, pushing opioids and knowing your every move rather than your care and overall well being.

Dale Johnstone

3 weeks ago I found myself in the cardiac care dept at RVH, I thought I might be having a heart attack, after some testing luckily nothing has shown up , and I was discharged 4 days later, I am currently still completing testing as my family doctors wishes, I just wanted to say .... THANK-YOU RVH CARDIAC CARE STAFF you went above and beyond to alleviate some anxieties and stress I had while I was a patient under your care, you made a scary situation a little more easier to cope!!!!! Again you are all shining stars!!!! Thank-You !!!!! Dale Johnstone

Fudu hospital. ????????

Took my mother in this week and the wait time was LONG but it is at any hospital. The staff was very efficient and have been great with my mother and the rest of us. It's really making a difference. The nursing staff have been outstanding. I feel secure having such a great hospital so close by Thank you

Courtney Bastedo

Unacceptably long waits and staff to do not seem to care about their paitients. Understandably so, it’s a hospital serving many people, however I can’t seem to justify having a patient wait for 7 hours in the “mental health” unit..with no promise of seeing a doctor. A social worker and a triage worker were the only people to assist, and neither one of them knew or felt comfortable in their own judgement on what to do with someone in a crisis, looking to change/stop taking anti-depressants. The two workers sat in a room beside the patients and were carrying on laughing and talking loudly. Also when speaking to their patients, doors were usually left open and you could literally hear the person in the next room beside you- their entire conversation. No privacy. After 7 hours of waiting to see a doctor, the social worker suggests to “speak to a pharmacist”. Unbelievable. I couldn’t imagine that treatment to someone in such a vulnerable and fragile state. It’s actually quite appalling.

Victoria Kirby

The lack of compassion for patients is astounding. The nurses telling patients "results" before a doctor has come into assess and give a result. Moving sleeping patients from rooms into hallways, from a bed to a plastic chair. The way the nurses communicate with you is completely disrespectful. They are very aggressive and defensive when you try to express concern. I could not suggest or reccomend more to go to another hospital if the option is available to you. I wasn't even the patient, I was here for my husband. RVH you really need some detailing within every area of your hospital.

Megan Oliver

The wait times are so incredibly long even when the hospital isn’t busy.

Allison O'Neill

Can’t believe they really kicked out a suicidal young woman at 3:30 am i was balling my eyes leaving the hospital they didn’t even check to see if someone got me. Seriously why try to get help when they do this? do better

Dave McLellan

Drive to Toronto and go to a real hospital. Not only will it be quicker you'll get real help. RVH should be ashamed

Mike Tyssen

Good people doing what they can

Shannon Letham

I recently visited the ER in hopes to find out why I was still having pain from suspected Kidney stones, Dr. Moss was very kind and listened to what was going on, after receiving tests he spent the time to explain the findings and answer my questions. Although I spent 4 plus hours in the emergency room I received excellent care, from the entire team.

Boris Grinspun

8 Near death experiences, 2 Licence suspensions after 25 years of driving experience with ZERO impaired driving charges, from 2 false diagnoses --, co-incidence,? or just a pattern consistent with Ontario's WORST RATED hospital? Physicians, Nurses, other health care providers who do not believe in the oath of "do no harm" are great at keeping health care costs low by way of instilling fear and intimidation in their tax paying patients, after all, what better way is there to keep wait times and health care staffing shortages in check? Other benefits include lower real estate prices and sharp increases procrastination to seek health care, resulting in preventable diseases / conditions leading to death. Sure, most hospital services are free for Canadian citizens, but would you entrust something that important to those who are more concerned about personal wealth care than health care?

Tianna Devina

If u wanna die waiting, Come here.

Alan Dzidek

The reviews are all true. I will be waiting 6-8 weeks for a doctor to read a report only to then make an appt several more months later. No one at their desks. I was in the right department on numerous occasions but thought I was lost because none of the nurses were at the desk. Why do we pay taxes?

Jane Harrison

I having nothing but great comments to make about all of the staff that I have had contact with at the RVH.

Henry Jackson

worst possible nursing staff who ever trains them needs to learn bed side manners

Lynda Hahn

I was diagnosed with cancer. I was told that the staff in the unit were so kind (and some are) but I was treated so poorly by my oncologists staff at the cancer clinic when I called to ask something that I had to literally tell her to be quiet and let me speak. I was sick with the flu and all she seemed to want to do was get me off the phone. This is not the first time this has happened. I feel like I don’t dare to ask what to do, or what will happen. There is no empathy towards cancer patients. We are just numbers and somewhere to drip chemo into. WE WANT MORE INFORMATION and alternatives, not ....well if you don’t have chemo you'll die. How kind is that, where is the caring, certainly NOT at RVH cancer clinic. SAD SAD SAD ????

I had a baby boy born last year, the security guards and birthing unit staff where not in the right to do what they did. Security guards told my friend who is transgender to leave because she was being inappropriate but she was just doing as I was asking her to do for me because there was no nurse around to help me. The security guards let's CAS apprehend my baby up on the birthing unit I even had my lawyer say that I had the right to been whit my son and my son to Stay With Me so I can breastfeeding my child because it was my right to bestfeed and security guards and the birthing unit knew about it and let Cas kidnap my son when my lawyer said that I need to stay in the hospital for 5 days to get to bond with my son I was out of the hospital and at my transgenders friend's house in 2 hours after having my baby boy at 7:20 p.m.

Laura Super

Been there today for a PICC insertion.. great hospital, clean new and well organized. The staff is amazing - friendly - helpful - smiling. The PICC process smooth and professional.. i would give 5 star superior. Guys you are a lighthouse in people life! thanks!

This place is an absolute war zone. I can't believe this happens in Canada...we make people sit in EMERG for emergency attention for 16.5 hours. Ontario Healthcare is a sham and a joke. All I hear about from politicians is love and compassion for Frontline workers. What about the poor guy with stage 4 terminal cancer who is 8 hours off his hard meds...and is left or rot in the waiting room. Socialism sucks period.

Andy Warren

Thanks healthcare workers for looking after my sick cousin who caught rona from local high vibrations dance class. She was in hospital for weeks but the staff looked after her very well, glad she is home safe

Mike Axiotis

Very nice

Twice in 3 weeks my husband has had to go to RVH for surgery and today to have staples removed. The front door screeners are the first people that one sees and consequently sets the tone for the hospital experience. First visit for surgery we were misdirected to the wrong area (closed on weekends apparently) and through our questions to different staff passing by were told to go to security. We were then taken by security to the correct area, but it had no signage indicating what this area was. We were 30 minutes late due to the misdirection from the front door/registration staff. Luckily the doctor stayed. Today I was told he would get assistance to the area he needed to go to and I would have to leave. An hour later while waiting in the car I get a call from the clinic saying my husband had not arrived for his appointment. I am shocked and surprised since I dropped him at the front registration on their word that they would see him to his destination. I’m waiting in the parking lot. I cannot find him since I’m not allowed in so they will have to. Apparently the doctor was on his last patient....so what am I supposed to do? I go in and of course they don’t know where he was sent. I complain and I am reminded of the pandemic and restrictions. Why is this the first thing that is used as an excuse for their mismanagement. NOW is the time when it is more important than ever to maintain communication and Covid has nothing to do with their lack of care for people and families. We can understand restriction but not the lack lustre performance at communication that starts at the front door. There is no one to advocate for the patient or family - shame on you! I’m afraid to go back for the next appointment....what is going to happen then?!

Justin paley

Long waits only to sent home with no answers. Nurses and doctors are all rude and treat you like your a lesser person. I will never go to this hospital, it's worth the drive going somewhere else. No real doctors work here.

Mohammad N

unorganized, they make u wait for so many hours.

Carol Rowe

Used to be a good hospital 15 years ago as seen from a volunteer perspective. Just recently received in ED and I have to say I’m terrified to return. The wait was over 10 hrs with a kidney stone. No pain management. Nurses were actually quite rude. If it wasn’t for the excruciating pain I would have called for a taxi to take me to southlake or orillia. When I finally did see a doctor he was pleasant but not much was done. Southlake’s reaction to kidney stones is quick and they manage pain and follow up well. The atmosphere is depressing and somewhat hopeless compared to my volunteer days. Strongly suggest a request for new leadership and a complete overhaul.

Stephanie

I went to this hospital for a MRI that was booked. Great staff, service, and on time. Beautiful hospital and very clean. I was in the new section.

Manny Hong

People at the hospital were really nice and friendly . Thanks for been nice to the public.

Anneissa Wheeler

I waited five hours with my son and infant daughter for the dr to come in and dismiss everything we were trying to tell him. When I voiced my concern he told me to go re-register and wait again we have poor raport. He did nothing for my son ... horrible bed side manner ...clearly he doesn't care about his clients...fyi it was next to dead in there ........ Worst experience ever !!

B

I found all staff members to be incredibly helpful and pleasant while waiting for triage and would give them 5 stars if possible. I was there for 8 hours and after being sent to the waiting room I had a nurse take my blood and then convert that needle into an IV so I only had to be poked once, instead of hooking up said needle to an IV for fluids to wash out my ketones (I’m a Type 1 diabetic) they just left it in me. My blood sugar wouldn’t come down for a couple days and I had ketones for at least a day. Their solution was to give me a shot of their insulin and check my blood sugar every hour... 8 hours later my blood sugar was still not in target and I was told I was being discharged without my ketones being checked since I had been there. They gave me no answers and basically said I wasn’t sick enough to be there because I wasn’t vomiting yet but made the right choice by coming in. Not sure why that took 8 hours to figure out. Then the diabetic education center called me a few days later and attempted adjusting my insulin with only knowing 3 days worth of readings from my sensor. I called my endo and she gave me the opposite advice from the diabetic clinic.

P S Nelson

I love this hospital. We’ve had to go in several times for different issues with kids and otherwise and it’s always been a fantastic experience.

Courtney Elliot

I would like to thank nurse Jenny and Bryn on the 4th floor, surgery 3. I have been at the hospital the last few days visiting a family member and have seen how they interact and take care of their patients. They are both so compassionate and professional. Anyone in their care would be fortunate to have them. They really go the extra mile to make it known that they care and are there to help.

Debbie Matthews

My daughter had day surgery. The hospital called the day before and told us where to go and what time. Admitting was great, easy to find and answered all questions. The surgery was on time. Everyone including the volunteers were so helpful. The surgical nurses were fantastic as well as the post operative nurses. Very happy with the whole experience

James

I am surprised the vast majority of reviews for RVH are horrible. I was admitted to hospital just recently for day surgery and the experience was actually quite good. The moment I arrived I was greeted by a nice lady at the Surgery Registeration. From there she gave me a number. She was really sweet, telling stories about her dog, lightening up peoples moods in the room. After that I was in another waiting room before my procedure. From there I could see wait times for some patients were taking longer causing frustration. Through all this waiting, a really nice nurse was walking around asking patients if they needed blankets or better chairs and gave them updates on when they would start their procedure, and telling them if their surgeons were running late. The nurses that assess you and help get you on your way to surgery we’re friendly and some had a great sense of humour. Really helped when the nerves kicked in. Overall the experience was not bad and things ran quite smoothly. Now this hospital is not all great. The ER department is very bad. Wait times are ridiculous, and most registeration nurses there seem to not have the patience for people. One time I was there taking a loved one in for a broken foot and I had to wait like 20min for wheelchairs cause there were none left in the front entrance. Overall there is a TON of waiting, and not enough doctors I think.

Judy Klomp

On January 15, 2018 my 90 year old Mom was sent home 3 in the morning with a blue foot. The nurse on duty at that time would not bring her any water, would not help her get dressed and was just rude and uncaring. This was in the ER. Earlier at 8 p.m. Nurse and Doctor attended to her needs and were compassionate and caring. I guess at 3 in the morning it was the changing of the rude warden.

Kyle MacDonald

The treatment of patients at this facility is disgraceful. I had a family member who needed to be rushed to the hospital with excruciating pain at 8pm and was not seen or helped for 6 hours. when they were finally put in a room they were left in pain for 4 hours without a single check-in. my family member could've passed out and nobody on your staff would've noticed. Even with the COVID-19 pandemic all your patients should be important. THE TREATMENT WAS DISGUSTING and negligent. Its 3am as I'm writing this and still waiting for my family member to be seen by one of your doctors. Horrible.

Dealmeida Jennifet

This is the worst hospital I have ever been my whole a nurse to tell me to throw up in my mask and then change it are you kidding me what kind of disgusting person would say that. I will never go to this hospital again and I will make sure to let everyone I know about the worst experience and the worst hospital and RUDE nurses

Georgi Palyonov

RVH is an awful hospital , my psychiatrist has not called me in months , most nurses are very useless as well. Go to Midland or Orillia if you have too.

Victoria Raymer

My husband had a recent stay in Surgery Inpatient 3 while waiting to get his Gallbladder out. Heather, Brittney, Ashley, Kathy and Dr.Dauphniee. Thank you for taking such great care of my husband. We are truly grateful. Laura the RPN in an emergency, Thank you for making sure my husband was moved to his own room where he could catch the Michigan game. Xi

Bay bay

Always extremely nice and helpful . They need to take the worst cases first so be patient, everyone's in pain, that's why you go to the emergency room ! they can't help everyone at once. Taking an ambulance doesn't mean you get priority service - ambulance is just a ride . I've been here for Day surgery and it was great, fast and on time . They even called to follow up in a few days

Jessey Newburn

Not even a place for your worst enemy, since ive been sitting here for a total of 8 plus hours in two days probably 7 and a half of those waiting and having to give them my information OVER 5 TIMES, i have noticed that the nurses here are awful and rude to patients being sassy and impatient towards us and literally listening to someone trying to sell them hand cream for 25 minutes and talk to eachother for over a half hour. I have only seen one doctor in the time ive been here and over half that time he isnt doing anything. You think with all the bad reviews it would lessen wait time NOPE going on nine hours now DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOUR DYING EVEN THEN THINK ABOUT IT!

Madison Summer

DO NOT COME HERE FOR A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS. The screening nurses were nice enough but it stopped there. The people who decide who’s mentally ill enough to help/hospitalize like the nurses or doctors that you talk to before the psychward were awful to me. I’ve had tactile hallucinations for weeks now and visual and some verbal hallucinations. The nurse said it was my bpd? When I talk to a psychiatrist the day before on the phone she mentioned psychosis. Like the nurses that make that decision on who they’re gonna help were awful to me I’ll never go back there. I’d rather die

Akshay John

When I reach here for an emergency with extreme pain, They made me to wait more than 2 hours. After that they took me to check my blood. They don't have professionals who know how to take sample of blood because when they tried me, my blood was splashing and she told me 'I got lot of blood'!! And I was like.. 'am I a joke to her?' It was a horrible experience. Then they made me to wait 2 hr and called me for urine sample. After taking the sample I waited for 2 hr to meet doctor then they checked the sample. After that they told me to do scan..I waited again 2hrs for a scan. When I asked about the result the lady on duty told "You may get it today or may get it next week"i don't know. This is the perfect place you can find ignorance. Even if you tell with death pain none of them look at you Feel free to enjoy your day here no one care you.. If they provide beds on waiting room that will be better for patients because they will get cured on that room which they spend most time on this hospital.

I was at the emerg 8 hours last night. It was ridiculous. There was not much communication from staff to even know what was going on. Took forever to get in. Once finally called put in a room and waited there for hours with not one person coming in to say what was going on. I noticed people in rooms across from us are pacing the halls and frustrated as well. It felt like we were forgotten about. I wanted to leave but I know I needed to get checked out as I had a concussion and memory loss. I have 3 kids to look after on my own so I needed to make sure I was okay. It was interesting too to see all the staff laugh and socialize etc.. Yet not one person could come to us in that room for hours and even touch base with us. I will try my best to never go to the RVH emergency room ever again. Orillia hospital is much better.

Nichole Laskowski

Came to RVH yesterday after I had felt like I was going to faint and my whole body went numb and completely red due to an allergic reaction to Midol. Doctor said I had a period cramp that caused me to faint and that's why I turned red. My family doctor was extremely concerned when I contacted him this morning about the situation. They literally printed out a piece of paper and said this is what I think you have, didn't give me anything for the reactions redness or itchiness, and sent me home. Literally the worst hospital in Ontario. You're better off to go to Oriila or Newmarket

Jack Sheahan

Poor service. Long wait. Minimal communication during an off peak time period. Unless it's a emergency, go elsewhere.

I saw Dr. Yazden-Ashoori for an explanation about my Cardiology tests, done that day. He has a remarkable bedside manner, taking a few minutes for pleasant small talk, something that many doctors do not seem to have (or take) time for. He put me completely at ease, then thoroughly explained my results, asked me if I had any questions, and assured me that I could contact him again if I had any further concerns. He stands as an example of excellence in patient care.

New Year’s Eve. 12 year old broke wrist snowboarding. Arrived in emergency at 5:30 left by 9:30pm. Exceptional service, caring staff, clear explanations by both nurses and doctors. What could have been a nightmarish night turned out to be better than we could have hoped. Sorry to gush - but I can’t imagine how they could have done a better job. Thank you.

Gross negligence of the health of all Canadians, why do we let millions of dollars go to waste in administration costs for the management yet can't see any improvement to the care of citizens in need. I have personally came within days of losing my child due to the negligence of many of the doctors in here writing off my son's illness as "the flu", my done went from 26lbs to 14lbs over three weeks before finally getting someone to look at him. In the states they have entire hospitals devoted to FPIES yet there's no knowledge in Canada thanks a lot OHIP.

Dark God Giller

On now hour 6 and still haven't seen a doctor. It's after 2am and I don't even got somewhere comfortable just their horrendous chairs to sort of (?) try to sleep in. Worst hospital experience of my life and I've literally been in hospital every year of my life except the last two years in Barrie...first time at rvh and hopefully my last.

Rick Ch

Had an asthma attack came to the hospital to get a inhaler and was told to go to Shoppers Drug Mart and by 1

I knew the wait times going in. But the communication (or the lack thereof) between patient and staff leaves a ton of room for improvement. I don't say a lot and it doesn't take much to keep me entertained. However...to leave someone in a small room from 11:00 p.m. until 08:30 a.m. without an offer of water, restroom, food, etc.. seems a tad messed up. I was offered a blanket at one point in the wee hours of the night, so I could sleep and I gladly accepted the offer....it just never showed up. I finally asked if there was water or coffee or a snack, and was told "oh, yeah! By all means, just follow the line to the food court!" LOL. That would'a been nice about six hours ago. I finally removed my own IV (eww) and stuff, shed my gown that opens at the back and took a long stroll to the Timmies. I came back to hear the elderly gentleman in the room beside me demand to be released (he arrived before me I think), but they called security on him and calmed him down. Communication people! Jeesus Chryst! We are, for the most part, not asking for much. Soooo....Three stars for the super friendly gals workin' the floor, but the hospital as a whole, get's the other two empty ones. Get a grip!

Tatsiana Baddoo

Horrible place! I got my Covid test there and I coudn't access my results online and only in 72 hours a nurse called me and told me that my results are negative

jack richard

biggest friggen joke of a hospital. been here 6 hours as we speak still havnt seen a doctor. what kind of heartless health system do we fund around here. maybe you guys should turn down your a.c in the middle of winter. stop leaving your patients in hours of discomfort. would save on energy costs and maybe you could afford more then one flippin doctor.

Laura Pullman

Thought I had the flu with a high fever so I went to Emerg. Turns out I was diagnosed with stage 4 Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. The staff from admitting nurses to technicians to doctors were very caring and treated me with the utmost professionalism. My stay at the hospital and subsequent visits were very caring. I have nothing but good memories and hope others give these over worked care givers a chance to help them.

James Fraser

We had to wait for test results that they already had for 3 hours and they wouldn’t let me eat

Amanda Nevers

this hospital is absolutely ridiculous waited for 6.5 hours for a doctor who was so rushed to get out of the room that he spoke for literally 1 minute barely got two words in and sent me on my way with naproxen which is completely useless I gave the nurse all the information she required for the doctor not to even bat an eye too... the doctors are so quick to tell you the wrong diagnosis even when told your history

Eric M

Checked in the ER at 230am. No one in the waiting room, yet 5 hours later and still waiting for an Xray. It is NOT a busy night. People were right. I can't believe the wait times.

Shannon Dillon

The wait time in the emerg is way too long but the staff are all very caring and extremely nice. After and 4.5 hour wait it was finally my turn to be looked at and the nurses and doctors and volenteer staff did everything they could to make me comfortable. Not great because of wait times but the staff made it more barible

Sean W

Terrible experience at Emergency. So much so the next time I needed to go to Emergency I drove 140 kms to a different hospital. Jammed into a room and ignored until chest pain was so bad I walked out to the nurses station to ask for pain relief. The nurse on duty said I looked like I was having a heart attack! 9 hours after showing up and being told I was not having a heart attack!

Beth moreau

My daughter was admitted in for Day Surgery, and also Pre-op. Both experiences were top notch and efficient. Granted there were a few bumps but nothing extraordinary. Well done and thank you.

Lilli R

I cut through my hand while cutting a bagel but the doctors were very friendly and funny and made me laugh. Gut durchdachtes sanitary concept and the food court is nice, I finally had a bagel at Tim Hortons :)

Fast n very polite

My husband was taken by ambulance to RVH with chest pain. In the past he has had 4 heart attacks plus he has cancer. The ambulance staff were wonderful. But RVH ER staff were disgusting. He was hook up to monitors that kept loudly buzzing and nobody came in. My husband had a buzzer to push if he needed help. He rang for a nurse, again nobody came. Finally calling out will somebody help. The blood transfusion he was receiving had somehow broke away from the inserted needle. He woke up in a pool of blood, all over him, the bed, and the floor. He was laying in this for quite awhile, for this much blood to be everywhere. When the nurse finally came in my husband asked why did you not come when the buzzers were going and he was told this, "well you have sleep apnea your heart just stopped for a bit." OMG he was taken there with possible heart attack. He could of been having a heart attack or died. His heart stopped beating and they just ignored that he was there with a curtain pulled around him. Never will he go to RVH emerg again. He said that is where you go to die. We have heard Orillia hospital is older but they attend to you and care. We are so close to RVH, but will go the extra miles to Orillia.

Dr Reddy, Worst possible place to take children with mental health issues. Release children too early, with no plans or support going forward. Medication adjustments made then sent home without knowing what effects that will have on the child (not monitored at all, no followup). The only place that helped our child was youthdale in Toronto. Dont waste your time with RVH, find other support services.

Ann Connor

Another fast Mri apt.thankyou for being so speedy

Hope to God nobody has to come here worst E.R ever

Worst hospital ever.

My 5 1/2 year old autistic daughter fell down a flight of stairs last night and she was very bruised and swollen, now she is probably the worst patient, she hates being touched by anyone so taking her vitals is nearly impossible and having high anxiety she screamed horrifically through triage and fought them everystep including trying to bite one of them. We were in and out in 30 mins. Every person that saw her was amazing, the triage nurses, the 3 nurses in trama who went and found her a frozen sticker book that she won't put down and the Dr that looked after her. She's a difficult patient that has no communication skills and they all worked with her to see how badly she was hurt. She's just very swollen and bruised but these 6 woman, the nurses and Dr, had to be the most patient people I have seen in forever. My daughter's been to emerg a few times for injuries and one hospital up north actually told me that if she didn't settle down she'd have to leave, well she's autistic and when she's upset she's not going to settle down till she's home but hey you'd think the drs would know that right??? Best service I've ever had with her and could not thank them enough.

I had an eye injury on Sunday of the May 24/21 long weekend and had to go to RVH emergency. From the 1st person that met me for Covid questions, to the Doctor that looked at my eye, everyone was so kind and went out of their way to make me comfortable. It really made a difference to me, Thanks to all ????

I lived in Barrie for a few years until a few years ago and had come to this ER myself and for my spouse. At the time i can't say i had any complaints that i recall. If anything I felt all the staff did their job really well and comforting things are (or was?) there like free food in patient areas and actual access to tests. One time the physician was concerned so we got an ER ultrasound which due to the findings we got an ER MRI within 6 hours then a follow up, compare this where we live now where there is no food, paid wifi, 30+ day wait for testing and being told additional testing/referrals are "between you and your family doctor" (though in rare occasions we have gotten CT ER scans and a single specialist referral eventually). Barrie is now about 200 km away from me and I have considered driving out there but until (if) i do I at least wanted to express my thanks for our experiences , especially in comparison for the garbage we deal with where we live now.

Much has improved over the years with the advent of newer and less invasive procedures and the phasing out of others in place of better more modern methods this is clearly reflected in the improved functionality of the rvh progressively over time. It helps them better and more efficiently provide care to a rapidly growing community. Volunteering your services is a great way to directly affect your family and friends in a very real and positive way and being there to help a loved one can greatly improve their ability to recover be proactive and listen to your healthcare providers

Stefanie Pignatelli

My experience in the birthing unit was absolutely perfect. Every nurse and doctor I encountered were friendly and made sure I was comfortable. They all made sure that myself, as well as my baby were well taken care of. I had the pleasure to have three different nurses during my stay, but I only remember one named Chrissy, who went above and beyond for me. Each nurse made an impact and I really do hope that everyone gets the same treatment as I did during their stay. They all deserve so much credit and everything they have done was heavily appreciated. Thank you !!!

This place is an excuse for a hospital. So many stories, including my own, that prove how terrible this “hospital” really is. I’m going to be honest.. if I’m dying, dump me in the river and I’ll probably be better off than going to this hospital. At least in the river I won’t have to waste my time.

I visited RVH on Wednesday February 20th at 9:30 pm. I waited in the waiting room for five hours. Finally I was called to be put into a room and sit on a chair for another 2 hours. Doctor arrived. Sent for blood work and chest xray. Sat for another 1 1/2 hours. Finally left at 7 am. Unacceptable. I was made to sit on a chair with severe stomach cramps for 7 hours. There is only one ER doctor on a night??? People are put into a room with the door shut and no one ever checks on them. Someone could drop dead in a room and no one would even know. Someone was violently throwing up in the next room. Nurse walked by and did not even check on them. I live in Barrie but would never go to this ER again unless I had to. I wish politicians and hospital staff would get the same care as the public. Then maybe they would wake up to the inhumane conditions at this hospital.

Michael Ferreira

5 stars for the lovely registration nurse. 1 star for this hospitals mental health intake process flow. 1 star for the triage nurse today who seems to have no training in Mental Illness, empathy, or understanding.

After waiting 6 hours with my daughter of 2, the doctor said she will get a covid swab and we could leave. After 45 min nobody showed up. I had to go get a nurse to have the swab done. So sad how they overuse their brain and forget about their heart. Bad bad experience ????????????

Fact 249

Worst experience, no care, response time very bad

I took my 85 yr old mom to emergency last night Jan. 29th She had a blood clot . She needed blood work and we had to wait for results. She was getting cold and nervous . I asked the dr if I could get her a coffee at the food court . I wasn’t allowed due to Covid. I guess I was overheard and a lady named Suzy came over and asked if she could get her a coffee. My mom wanted to kiss her 8-). She asked me as well . She got our order and off she went ! Who does that any more ??? I was amazed!! Talk about above and beyond. I tried to pay 2-3 times and she wouldn’t take my money. I wish she was my neighbour I wold spoil her rotten! This lady totally amazed both of us !

Connie D'Ambroso

fracture Clinic is horrible.Way too small waited for three hours and had an appointment all to see Dr.Port and get sent home with a requisition to do physio therapy.Dr.Port was very rude and dressed in street cloths and very un professional.Wasted gas money and parking money and loss time off of work and drove from Gravenhurst for a waste of time. You would think a big Hospital like RVH would be alot more organized and have alot more space for a fracture clinic.

Rebecca Felts

Had both my hips replaced here. Left one done yesterday. I honestly cant say enough good things about their level of care and the attentiveness of the nurses. Huge shout out to Melanie dayshift and Cory on the nightshift Thanks so.much.

Nina Page

The nurses and doctors are great and do their best to help you out. As well scheduled appointments (ultrasound, echo, etc.) work out fine and are mostly on time. But the organization of this hospital doesn't work at all. Once the shift is changing you will be asked the same questions again and again. It seems like no one really knows what's going on with you nor puts anything on a file. If you go through Emergency it takes sometimes hours to go through. Once I came in at 9.30 pm and was treated at 2:35 am. It happened in the meantime also twice that I was sent home while being scheduled for a surgery and I had to come in the next day again with more wait time. It is already enough dealing mentally with a surgery, but to be sent home and having to come back, makes it worse. To be honest I wouldn’t want having a severe problem treated in this hospital.

Фердинанд Йодль

I waited with the baby breast 6 hours to receive medical assistance, this did not happen

Lorraine Lowe

Been diagnose with breast cancer . Had surgery at Toronto General Hospital. Was referred to Barrie cancer clinic for chemo treatment , iam terrified plus to go to a different hospital other then Princess Margaret hospital were my cancer doctor is located. I Arrived 15 min early at the cancer clinic within 10 min I was called in. I met the nurse which was so kind then " Dr Isabel Li" she has been so far the most amazing and caring DR and has taking away some of my fears . Thank You. Let the journey begin.

shyanne westaway

if i could give 0 stars i would. this place is a joke, unorganized, god for it anything happens to you and have to come here you will be waiting 6+ hours at a MINIMUM

Aleya Wight

Treated very well in the Nuclear Imaging Dept, hospital was clean.

Josh New

My girlfriend and I went here after getting rear ended. We waiting around 3-4 hours just to get an x-ray in pain. Got done the x-ray and then waited around another 2-3 hours. Finally I asked like am I OK. They asked my name. I told them. They than said they didn't find problems in my x-ray, so if I wanted to go, to leave? My girlfriend an I both woke up in pain and had to go back to hospital. We surely didn't chose RVH. We went to little Georgian Bay Hospital, where we were both told we had a severe concussion and severe whiplash and now have been going through physio for 6 months? As for my choice, I will try to go to any other hospital now.

Lorraine Mischitelle

Very dedicated, kind, courteous staff. They couldn’t have treated me any better. Dr Venettilli you do amazing work Thank you!

Lindseyy Elizabeth

Very understaffed. No washroom in rooms

Trana Mood

Wait times ridiculous! Waiting 6 to 8 hours to be put in a room! Exhausting on top of your health ailment!????

Mylinda Beirnaskie

Three hour wait for none emergency

Ken Y.myself

I absolutely loved the upscale performance of Cats. It was an amazing show which I recommend to all!

Avoid this facility at all costs. a 30 min drive to Orillia memorial is not only time well spent, it will likely prolong / save your life. No qualified diagnostician, pediatrician, toxicology analyst exists here . This is just my experience, apparently countless other physicians/nurses lack experience / qualifications .. based on the numerous other 1 star ratings , this place seems to be a haven for healthcare "professionals" who either looked over their shoulders to see what a knowledgeable peer was writing during medical school exams or obtained false identities / credentials. Shame on them for wasting our hard earned tax dollars.

daljinder kaur

Very bad experience ever they have emergency ward but u have to wait hours and hours to see a doctor. Very very bad experience ever in my life.

Bob Robinson

I would give it no stars but i had to hit 1 just to say my peace. 3 and a half hour wait just to get into an exam room through emerg then another 2 hours just to have a doctor see us. Not once did a nurse come by to check on us. What do they get paid for? I'll tell ya. I listened to them cluck about movies, vacation destinations, and hiking trips. I even heard 2 asking eachother a number of times if certain patients were seen. It's sad my tax money is wasted on this. Good thing it wasn't life threatening or we would have been dead for weeks before someone checked on us. Thank you dumbass lazy nurses. Sooner or later someone is going to die waiting to be helped.
