You know that we do not usually bother to write reviews when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Hospital is classified in the category of General hospital.
If you have a choice go anywhere else. I was admitted right before a shift change and after indicating my one and only allergy the doctor tried to give me just that. Shift change new doctor comes and sees my allergy band and asks what I'm allergic too, and returns a few moments later with that same drug again. Meanwhile the nurse in ER kept trying to discharge me because I was done... But the doctor was looking for me to get me a CT scan. So unorganized. Martina was a great nurse in the ER everyone else was just awful so be prepared.
Friendly staff, good doctors.
For 50 years I was afraid of Hospitals. I had a real bad attitude about Doctors and Nurses. After my gallbladder operation, I turned a 180 degree turn of my attitude. These people took the fear away. I've never been treated so well at all in my life. It takes a very special person to do the work these people do. Our Country should be proud to have them here. I am now!! PS. Here is a pic for all the nurses that I told about BunBun.
idd have to say in its time it was once of the frindleist and quickist hospitals place in the okanagan
Great Hospital
Thank you to my amazing nurses, and support staff and doctors who were kind, efficient and professional.
I dunno I was born here so I guess that's good.
Very good, I had to get stitches and everyone was kind and helpful. I didn't have to wait long. A nurse even showed me an alternate exit when the door to leave was blocked. Every time I've had to come here they've made it a bit more bearable :)
Staff was pretty nice, but the doctors are horribly inexperienced. A minor incident involving a punctured lung lead to invasive surgery to install a tube and bleed air out of the chest cavity. This is standard procedure for collapses lungs, but my friend was completely stable and did not have collapsed lungs. They elected to perform this procedure prior to ANY CT Scans and had to call the Kelowna Hospital for advice on how to do it. Once the procedure was done, they forgot to turn on the air-sucking machine over night. Healing time for initial injury was 4 - 5 days. Healing time for the hole they made during the procedure was 2 weeks. My friend was out of work for two weeks because they elected to cut him open despite no evidence from CT scans showing it was necessary. They just wanted to do it. If you can, drive the extra 45 minutes to Kelowna. VJH is riddled with inexperienced doctors or doctors who couldn't find work in Kelowna or Vancouver. Absolutely appalling medical standards and ethics.
I live in New Jersey, work EMS for a hospital here, my mother lives in Vernon B.C., Canada. She was admitted last night. I've called the person answering the phone probably 15 times today. Everytime I call the 7th floor, it rings 40 times then hangs up on me. After the 4th call, I asked her could a doctor call me? She said no!! We don't do that here! I can't transfer you to the 7th floor again or the complaints department. It's just cruel to put a family through this. My hospital, our patients and families come first. That phone never rings more than 5 times. It's a disgrace.
Unfortunately I’ve never really had good experiences at this hospital. Tonight really topped it off though. Waiting 4 hours for my husband to have a deep sliver pulled out that also had toxic material. We have given up after being told there is 30 people ahead of us while it oddly doesn’t look like there is a rush. I don’t know if it’s poor staffing our just the health care system these days but wow horrible, horrible, horrible. We know to never come to the hospital unless we’re literally dying.
All three of our children were born in this hospital. The maturnity ward is beautiful and the staff are very professional - including being great communicators and exceptionally supportive. 5 ???? for the experiences we have had. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for looking after me so well. Everyone was lovely, nurses, surgeon, cleaning lady , physio, and all other staff.
Brutal wait for the lab
If you can make the trip to Kelowna go as fast as you can. The Doctor in the emergency told a young kid to look it up on google as "prescribed" treatment. As he a Doctor knew nothing on Mono. As for me I went from emergency, to Xray, to emergency, to ultra sound, to being told to go home and wait for a call. I never received a call and trying to get a hold of a doctor to inform me about my case was incredibly difficult. After all that trouble there best diagnoses was go to another hospital because the doctor in the emergency was getting paid way to much for his educational level. Its one of those times when you talk to a Doctor in person and actually try to figure out in your brain should he be telling me of my problems or should he actually be mowing my lawn.

My wife broke her leg skiing in Revelstoke, I cannot speak highly enough about the care and service we were given at the Jubilee Hospital a ten out of ten from us Aussies!! The surgeon accepted us early as he knew we were due to fly home in 7 Days bravo!!! Our nurses Gemma and Amanda deserve Gold Medals for their dedication and attention to detail. In fact every person we met really went out of their way to help us Thankyou!! Xxxxxxx ( it’s the only hospital I’ve been to where I felt sad leaving!!!!!) We made some good friends here????????????
I had hernia surgery today at Vernon Jubilee hospital and all I can say it was a pleasure to have it done there. The staff was awesome and the Doctor was top notch! 5 stars is not a high enough rating for the treatment I received today! A big thank you to everyone that I dealt with today! Keep up the great work!
I was there for alcohol recovery. It took them hour and hours at a time for then to give me something that would help. By the time it was a problem it was a new doctor who gave me different pills. By the time Ieft I almost wanted to ask what my next cereal bowl of food was. It's a joke of a medical practice.
Emergency visit after a fall. Prompt and friendly assistance. Had to wait a bit, but so what... I had broken a wrist was the diagnosys. Don't forget that people respond to your attitude: if you are grumpy you will get a similar response.
Buddy broke his arm at revelstoke needed surgery had to go here or calgary went here because everything was promised to be on time surgery didn't happen till 3 hrs after scheduled time
Was there for some hiking injuries. The patience of the people was very nice. I tried to speak in english as best as I can and they were very nice. The nurse are nice to. One belp me to find a place to stay for the night as I did not had any internet connection. I recommand this place.
My husband recently spent a week in hospital post surgery for colon cancer. We were so impressed with the hospital and all of the staff! Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful, caring, compassionate and professional. Having spent a great deal of time in Alberta hospitals over the years as a caregiver for my mom, the Vernon hospital was a refreshing and much welcomed surprise! Thank you!!!!
Everyone from the Triage desk to the Doctor were absolutely wonderful. They were kind, funny, upbeat and compassionate. Thank you Thank you for your care of my health
i presented with biliary colic 3 times. pain killer was withheld 2 of those visits and no ultrasound was performed. i don't know what the rest of the hospital is like, but the emergency department performs poorly. i presented a 4th time with biliary colic while visiting toronto. ultrasound: 1.6cm gall stone obstructing my duct. dilaudid kept me company while i awaited surgery. 24 hours later, the rock and gall bladder were out. that's how it's done, vernon jubilee. you have a terrible emergency department. don't even get me started on how you treated my wife when she presented with chest pain. if i could rate you negative stars, i would.
When I broke my little finger, I went to Vernon Jubilee Hospital and was very impressed with the staff and their caring ways. The nurses and Dr. Fourie were just EXCELLENT. Thank you all for what you do. Keep up the great job you ALL do. ????????

I would have given 10 stars if that was possible. Extremely frindly staff and great hospitality. We had our fist baby there and it was really an amazing experience.
1000x better than KGH! Super caring staff all the way through from the triage nurse, ER doctors, surgeon, everyone! They helped me get my diagnosis so I could finally get back to my life!
Friendly staff and doctors. We would rather drive to Vernon then suffer at KGH.
Everyone I have had an encounter with at VJH has been amazing :)
I went in yesterday morning in severe pain and found out it was my Gall bladder. They not only got me in right away and got the surgery done. The staff was all amazing and super friendly! They answered all my questions and helped me as much as they could. I appreciate everything they did for me! What a great team of people! Thank you all so much for your consideration and care in my situation.
35-years-old and have been to emergency once in my life, just for the record. I was there on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at noon, it was quiet but got busy after we arrived. My husband was there because he was having pains similar to passing a kidney stone (which he has never done). We were sent home 5 hours later after blood and urine tests and a CT scan. The doctor's found nothing and sent us on our way even though my husband was crying in pain, and he's a big tough guy. They said to go to any walk-in clinic to get an ultrasound done if the pain continues because they don't do ultrasound at the hospital. Fast-forward four days when the pain has continued, my husband goes to a walk-in and waits 5 hours before being seen by a doctor who tells him they don't do ultrasound and that he has to go to the hospital for that! I'm so furious that these past 4 days my husband has been in pain caused by an unknown factor and the hospital could've done an ultrasound all along... I don't know that an ultrasound will even help but I can't believe the lack of responsibility shown by the ER doctor we saw on Saturday. PISSED and concerned for my husband's life.
Had my gallbladder removed. When the nurse was trying to put the IV in, the vein kept collapsing, so she was digging and digging. She was really nice about it, but I started to get nauseous and faint. She gave up. I then heard the doctor asking about it and I heard laughing. I then go to leave and I am walking like I am 200. Shuffling very slowly along. I would take me a long time to get to the door. So, I thought I would ask if I could please have a wheelchair, so my mom could push me. The nurse looked me up and down, with an expression as to say, why are you bothering me with this. She then says, "Can't you walk?" with disdain. I was quite taken aback by this response. They begrudgingly brought one. The woman across from me had both her feet operated on, and no one offered her a wheelchair when she was discharged. She couldn't walk. I suggested her husband go ask for one. If he hadn't asked, I don't know how they would have managed. Not impressed at all.
Completely worsened my symptoms I came in with, antagonized me, patronized me, ridiculed me and lied saying my fully legal medical cards weren't accepted there. Absolutely abysmal service and I feel awful for anyone who lives in vernon cause no ones getting the proper health care THEY DESERVE!
Was great, politely great at the door,, they ask about covid just a few questions. if acompanyed by someone not sick they must wait outside, younger children acompanyed with one adult is allowed.. ???? Be safe
My dad was in & out getting cancer shot ❤
ER staff was friendly and hospital was very clean. They got me patched up and on my way super fast. Probably one of the best hospital experience I've ever had.
This was horrendous. Despite a quiet transition into a room, I waited hours for my results with only 2 other people in the ER also awaiting results. The nurses avoid eye contact so you cannot call to them for questions. I would never ever recommend this ER to anyone Third or fourth trip to this ER out of necessity. Absolutely awful. Even the people answering phones for this hospital are ignorant, uninformed, and excessively rude. Each of the departments I have dealt with at this hospital have been truly unprofessional. As someone who suffers from a chronic and incurable diasease, and who deals with medical professionals often, I believe this hospital needs a serious reboot, or should be shut down.
All emergency services Dr.'s and Nurses are very amazing fast to be of service and have very productive jobs and I am so pleased with their work and a very clean environment ????????????????????????
First surgery at VJH and nothing bad to say! From beginning to end all went well.Great staff good care !
Awesome!

Way better experience then Kelowna General. People are friendly and efficient unlike KGH where they don't really care
Its alright, really depends on which parts of the hospital you need to go to. Staff is generally a little.. grumpy and not overly wanting to answer questions. They do try their best though and get their jobs done even if it does tend to be a little slower than expected. Definitely a hit or a miss here.
They don't care. Were not even clear what was going on and dosed me with max anti biotics. They took so much blood and when I asked what the blood was for was givin a vague answer. Treat you like toxic cattle treated me right in the waiting room I front of everyone. I feel pissed. I hate this hospital.
I had a great experience here in the Emergency department. I was in and out in less than an hour. Everyone I encountered in the hospital was very nice and caring.
Listen well Efficient and mannerly. A great help when you really need one. thanks Tw ☺
Went here with a gash in my head. They fixed it. Probably saved my life. But the rice pudding was dry and the nurses were too "busy" helping people who were dying to get me a third apple juice. Doctors here just want to help you and move on to help others. They had no time to pose in my selfies. IT'S A HOSPITAL. IF YOU NEED HELP, YOU'LL GET RIGHT IN. NO WAIT.
had to go in for an emergency, I hurt my finger. Lovely front desk woman and the male night nurse was a solid 10/10 so thank you, but that female doctor.. holy smokes lol, hands were shaking, could obviously tell she didn't care, ripped the bandaid off my finger and I almost died it hurt so bad, tried to get me out in less than 1 minute didn't really matter if she caused me more pain in the process. I think Kelowna doctors are nicer, but it takes FOREVER to see someone. 3am tonight it took me 3 hours to see someone, so that wasn't too bad ????????♀️ If the doctor just learns to be a little nicer, the experience would've been amazing!
Excellent hospital. Saved my brother's life after he was hit by a truck and had a ruptured spleen, broken bones, etc. Staff were on the "clinical" side, but that's their profession after all. They also took good care of mom after her several falls (at home) over the years. The staff really do their best under very trying circumstances and have to put up with a lot of abuse from stressed and frightened people (the patients and their families.) I would have no hesitation about seeking medical help from this hospital.
Save yourself the headache and drive to Kelowna, if it's an option.
The hospital took great care of me, although they are quite busy, I know I was in good hands. Definitely a 5 star hospital. Great service! Thank You.
Terrible service.
Having received yesterday’s efficient medical procedures I feel honoured to provide VJH staff with a very deserving 5star rating. Noticeably, a very pleasant working harmony exists between all staff. The courtesy of each member identifying himself/herself to patients before interacting, consideration for the well being of some elderly patients being supplied with heated blankets, and basic general interaction created a unique comfort beyond words. A short list deserving mention, Dr. Hewitt, Kirsten, Brent, Jen-Lee ... others, too. Thank you.
We went to the clinic who told us to go to the hospital because my one year old had a fever 40.7. He seemed concerned. When we got to the hospital the doctor didnt seem concerned gave my son tylenol, took his blood, looked in his throat said he thinks its strep. Gave him antibiotics. and the worst part the nurses put a catheter in to get a urine sample which was unsuccessful. And the nurse used the wrong sized one she thought it was the smallest but wasnt. I am so pissed off that I let them do this they said it was neccessary. Now my son screams bloody murder everytime he has to pee. Im worried they screwed something up. Also in the end they gave us a bag to get a sample of pee. They put an old mans name on the container they gave me to get a urine sample. So when i finally got one and dropped it off they called and told me they cant use it because the name was wrong. Piss off!! I will not rely on the medical system no more.
Came in to visit my uncle with cancer and came down to emergency with existing stitches in my finger and went up to the nurse where u would sign in and asked for a new finger cover .. she never looked at me at all too busy playing on her phone and I asked again and she looked up and said no we don’t have any continued playing on her phone and I mentioned on my travel two other hospitals have them it’s not an unusual request and they would need them there for other patients and she said no just put a bandaid on it or gauze.. I have 5 huge stitches across my whole finger waiting to be removed Sunday and u can’t just put a bandaid on it .. she was rude and mostly her being on her phone not even asking to see how bad my finger was to acknowledge I needed something to keep it from getting infected ... every other hospital was awesome and more than helpful to give me one to go ... I wasn’t taking anybody’s place in line and I was in and out .. the emergency was empty ... nurses should stay off there phone and pay more attention to such a small request .. it would of taken 1 min and then she could of gone back to texting or Facebook whatever was more important .. glad they get the big bucks to sit around on there phone ..
I had hernia surgery on July 27th @ the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. From pre op to post op. From patient registration to discharge, This is the most professional, well run , operation I have ever been to. My surgeon Dr. Horkoff is a young, modern , upbeat professional man . Explains things so you understand from start to finish, follows up with you, just a outstanding person. A true asset to the area. I am terrible with names as all were wonderful there , but after surgery I spent most time on third floor and nurse Leuanne (spelling?) was the best what a wonderful personality. I could not find anything negative about this operation, they are all simply the best I feel honoured to been able to have my surgery done here Tom Westbank BC
My wife was in ICU, and Emergency in Vernon Jubilee Hospital for the past 2 weeks, the staff were exceptional, caring, and professional. Please except our gratitude. Thank you so much, Heather and Bill Sudo.
This place needs help. There needs to be a system in place that works better at this hospital. There is no sense of urgency from any of the staff. My girlfriend with a history of miscarriages and an ectopic waited while she was in agony in fear that we were going to lose our 16 week old baby. Meanwhile people with flu symptoms sit around us and head into rooms before us . It is my opinion that that the sick should be kept separate from the injured as well as pregnant women. It makes no sense. Wake up people . We pour money Into health care and I'm in favour of paying more if it means that this kind of B.S. and understaffing or having overworked under paid unmotivated useless staff run our hospitals.
I worked for james Garrett at this hospital doing snow removal I worked really hard to keep the side walk clear that was over a month ago and I still have not been paid james just keeps giving me the run around I hope you guys never get him to do the snow removal again so this dose not happen to another single dad.
Took my mother into the ER here Sunday night at 6:45, 3/17/18. Waited in the waiting room for almost 3 hours then finally got into a room where we waited another 2 hours before we decided to walk out. The service here is terrible, nurses just walk by without a care in the world and when we asked how much longer we had to wait she responded with " I don't know we're waiting for a physician". The ER here is here is atrocious. The staff are very unprofessional and rude, wait times are ridiculous and just a downright a tweeible experience. Don't ever come back u less I've lost a limb.
Always feels life staff have no time for you
On January 8th, I fell and hurt my back at the Sliver Star ski resort. The first aid people at the resort looked after me beautifully and then sent me to the Vernon Hospital for an x-ray. I had the x=ray and fortunately nothing was broken. I just want to say a huge thank you to the ambulance staff (I enjoyed chatting with the paramedic who sat with me in the back about ice) and the wonderful staff at the Hospital for their great care and attention. Thank you.
I had a resent surgery in the VJH and I got the greatest care from all the staff and Doctors. It shows THEY CARE.
Nice docter and nurses
Terrible system terrible settings. Waited 4 hours to get stiches. In so much pain. People are starting to walk out. They say they have waited over 5 hours and they dont care anymore. Something needs to change
I hate hospitals, but this one has a different vibe. Staff are pleasant, helpful, and the ones I encountered seem to actually enjoy their job. We’re blessed to have such a first rate facility in our city.
My wife was 41 weeks pregnant and our doctor in Revelstoke informed us on friday that the local hospital is short-staffed and that we need to go to Vernon in case we go into labor. It's a two hour drive to Vernon but it was totally worth it. The staff at Jubilee is knowledgeable and very friendly. We couldn't be happier. I give it 5 stars and my wife says she would give them 10 stars if it was possible. Thank you Jubilee!!! We will come again with our next baby.
Horrible experience! I would never go to this hospital again. Nurses are rude and very uncaring. They dont speak to you in a kind manner and treat you like you are lying about the level of pain you are in. Takes 3 hours to bring pain medication. I had major surgery on march 26,2019 and on march 28, 2019 wanted to go home. Finally around 5pm someone came to speak to me about leaving. I told them i wanted to go home and saw no reason to stay. They agreed and let me go. I left with no help from anyone and they could barely tell me where the elevator was without a dirty look and a mumbled response! I am disgusted with the level of care at this mediocre hospital.
I had such great care from the nurses and support staff! ???? I had to move back to Vancouver General (I'm from Vancouver), because my condition got more difficult. Scott rocks!

Horrible experience! I was visiting Vernon for a wedding from Calgary while experiencing allergy’s to the pollen in the air. I had to leave the wedding to seek medical attention as I was very uncomfortable and couldn’t see from my eyes as they were so swollen and inflamed. The doctor who I saw was EXTREMELY rude, un-compassionate and not friendly what so ever. “There’s nothing I can do for you”. I obviously didn’t leave a wedding just because. I left because I couldn’t see from my eyes and felt ugly. I had a family member drive all the way from Kelowna to be with me as I was a visitor and didn’t want me being alone. She was in the room as well as my boyfriend to see how this doctor treated me. They were both shocked by his actions and words. I waited 2 hours to see him, for him to give me a bag of ice and to tell me to go back to the wedding. After his 2 minute conversation because he was obviously in a rush I told his nurse I wasn’t happy with the doctor. I would like to see someone else. She then proceeds to tell me he’s the only doctor in ER. This is a hospital, I understand small town but there has to be another doctor for a second option. After me being frustrated the nurse finally gave me 2 Benadryl tablets and said “Enjoy your night”. The next morning my left eye was swollen shut, had to make the 7 hour drive back to Calgary where I was able to seek “proper” medical attention. Being told there’s nothing they can do for me, to my family doctor giving me something that completely brought down the swelling and was able to make me feel like myself again. Not happy with my experience at the Vernon Hospital... make the drive to Kelowna because I’m sure you’ll get treated much better there. If you don’t want to help people. Then don’t be a doctor in the ER!!!
Words cannot describe how much I hate this hospital and its staff. I wish someone would investigate medical practices and how awfully they treat people. It will continue until there is repercussions. It should be easy to fire doctors, nurses, receptionists, but they are protected and regarded as heroes even the ones who abuse and neglect people who come to them for medical care.
My husband recently spent a week in hospital post surgery for colon cancer. We were so impressed with the hospital and all of the staff! Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful, caring, compassionate and professional. Terrible place. Terrible nurses. Fake doctors. I take my 3 year old in. His forehead is swollen like crazy. Lady doesn't even ask questions just shoves us into isolation where covid people go. Wait wait. Noone is concerned. Nurse there has no idea why we got put into the room. Joke. Zero health care in Canada. All propaganda.
I had spine surgery and was in hospital for 3 days. At all times the nursing staff were professional and very caring. It was clear to me the nursing staff had to juggle the demands of a many patients and the fact that the ward was beyond it’s designed capability given the pressure on the health system. Nevertheless the nurses never complained, or failed to provide great service while at the same fulfilled their teaching obligations to the next group of nursing students. Well done and many thanks! The surgical staff were equally professional and very competent. My surgeon visited me everyday and I had anaesthetic consults daily for pain relief. Well done and many thanks.
Terrible care from the respiratory therapist. Went there with an als patient and instead of helping get her put of my car they told me to call an ambulance, it wasn't their job to help get patient out of cars. Stay home the care there not worth the drive.
Daughter hit her head, and was bleeding pretty good, we are still at ER, nurse said she might need stitches, been sitting with my 4 and 6 year old waiting here for 4hours now...beyond disappointing
Mixed experience from VJH. Sometimes, staff is extremely helpful; other times, doctors are so apathetic towards their patient that you wish you never seek help. Overall, the place is clean and most of the nurses (who treated me and my family) were very helpful and caring. The doctors, on the other hand... Cannot say I was pleased with their "help", but I've heard about some professionals in the hospital, who are actually good and deserve their reputation. It's a matter of luck, I guess, which doctor sees you.
All the staff from triage to emergency nurses and doctors, porters and technicians were pleasant and professional. they have so many patients to see to yet each patient feels special. I can't praise them enough.
Great hospital ! Saved my life.
Went in because I was having severe stomach pains. Turned out I needed my gallbladder removed. I have never been treated so kindly by nurses and doctors. I had surgery the next day. Dr Brown performed my surgery and he was amazing. All the nurses who took care of me post op were so kind and understanding and made sure I didn't want for anything. Truly amazing during such stressful times. Thank you to all the nurses and doctors.
Slowest service ever. I was 7th in queue and I have already been here for over 3.5 hours and haven’t seen a doctor. No sense of urgency at all. Writing this review while still waiting to see a doctor. Coming here was a total mistake.
Thursday night/Friday early am I began to experience another gallbladder attack. I decided to go to emergency in an attempt to get some pain relief. I was attended to right away and after a full blood panel it was determined that I should be admitted. Friday I was treated for my pain and recieved great care. Saturday early am I was in surgery. By dinner time Sat I was ready to head home. The entire stay was positive and I would never hesitate to seek medical help there. The nurses and Drs were all so pleasant and kind.
Awesome staff
Very slow system. Staff is unhelpful, slow and they all seem to hate their job. No sense of urgency for patients in need of help
Absolutely useless people. They repeat over and over "We are doing our best to help" when they can't even be bothered to book an emergency appointment for an infant. If a doctor says to book the appointment, you book it. Don't expect a baby to cry in your waiting room all day while you sit behind the desk and twiddle your thumbs. Good luck ever getting transfered to another department either, they just put you on hold until you hang up. If you dont appreciate the attitude, then try doing your job.
Takes to long
waiting period is huge and of course what else is new. I went to energ with nausea, severe abdominal pain and dizziness and felt like my insides were on fire. they did blood work and everything came up negative so they told me that it was the flu. I told them that I had had these symptoms on and off for 2 years but I think it went to deaf ears. So since then, I have gone to medical walk-in because 2 days later I had another attack and I didn't want to wait another 3 hours to tell me to go home or that it was the flu. In medical walk-in, the Dr. was older than my father and asked me what my symptoms were...again not listening and decided I had a strangulated hernia..with again no requisiton for an ultra sound. He gave me some sample pills for the attacks and told me to take them if it happened again. They were for a duodenal ulcer. Who administers medication like that without a diagnosis.ok now I waited 2 weeks to see my doctor and just think of all of the extra health care costs that I have incurred as a result. If I had had an ultra sound, I might have found out what was wrong. I am still waiting for an ultra sound and no better....One thing I must say is that the staff despite all of the BS are really nice and are doing the best they can.
Don't try to call this hospital -- they don't answer the phone! Don't ask to speak to a nurse caring for a loved one - they are always 'too busy'. I live in Ontario, so I cannot visit my loved one hospitalized here, but if I lived in or near Vernon, I would have my loved one transferred to another facility where he could get the care he needed and have access to a phone to contact friends and family! Patients do not have phones in their rooms, so unless they have a cellphone, don't plan on speaking to them on the telephone! Absolutely disgusted...this is not how a hospital should run, and I've worked in enough hospitals to know!
Hard to get around ask at a desk for help and they send you the wrong direction
My father is 85 years of age with Alzheimer's. He was dropped off to emergency today June 22nd at 3 pm give or take via ambulance . He can not stand on his feet. He had taken a fall and this is why he was sent there. I arrived around 330 and asked how he was. I was not let in due to Covid. I made sure my phone number was on his file to contact me. I also called every 45 min to an hour to see if the emergency DR had seen him yet. I was told he was in a bed waiting for a room. I kept calling... around 650 I called again for an update. The receptionist said he had been released, he signed himself out. I asked who picked him up. She did not know. No nurse nor Dr would speak to me. My dad was put in a cab and sent home. He still can not stand. No nurse nor Dr looked at him or assessed him as far as I know for they will not speak to me or return calls.
I have never bin so disgusted in my life you go up to a hospital thinking Drs are here to help you and get treated like some drug addict.... I'm a working member of the community after my closing shift my knees gave out on me once again 4x in 3 days I go to hospital Dr won't even look at my injury let alone try to help tells me to go see my family Dr and sends me home mean while I can barely walk let alone drive my standard car 30 mins home on the highway. This hospital is the worst hospital I've ever had to go to. Do not go here unless your dieing and even if ur dieing is still be asking to go to salmon arm or kelowna hospital before this one.
Vernon hospital reception was very rude and no help and the others are no better will not go here again
As a care aid, this has to be the worst hospital I have seen. When we went in a couple weeks ago for my wife’s broken foot, they wanted to treat her for Covid, so we left and went to salmon arm, low and behold they said she had a broken foot, get her all set up and send her home with a referral. 5 weeks later we call the ortho, get he wife’s new apt. (Today, March 4th 2022 830am,) It’s in the ortho part of Vernon hospital, not knowing where it is, we ask the lady at the front who’s job it is to tell people where to go, she’s sends my wife with a broken up 2 floors and down halls, to wrong spot, turns out she sent 3 others with injuries to the wrong spot as well. You have injures and sick people coming to a hospital, the last nothing they need is to be sent to the wrong area.

Had chest pains entered emergency Right away service blood tests etc. Found out had a heart attack kept me in emergency until midnight then to tub room 6th floor. I want to say it was quick top notch service from the emerge doctors and nurses and 6th floor nurses .Great service.
Wonderful hospital! Staff are knowledgeable, efficient, and kind...if you need help, you know you're in good hands.
Are you really stopping unvaccinated family members from being able to see patients under nurses discretion. Hope this doesn't backfire.
Was very well looked after. Thanks team.
The staff are rude and disinterested. I hope I never have to end up as a patient here. Being a visitor was a bad enough experience.
My wife , and daughter and I arrived in Vernon for the start of our vacation on July 21. Everything was going great till evening of the 22nd. My wife started getting severe pain in her mid -section, she could not handle it anymore, I called for an ambulance and in less than 20 minutes, she was at emergency in Vernon Hospital. To make a long story short, my wife needed surgery to check the bowels and also to repair not one , but 2 hernias . Had we waited longer to get her the hospital , she would have ended up having to get her bowels repaired . She was finally released 4 days later ????????, and many thankyous go to the nurses on the 3rd floor in post-op care . I should also mention, the surgical team are awesome as well and the nurses there are FANTASTIC, especially considering we're here from Central Alberta and supposed to have been on holidays !! The treatment and care my wife received was TOP-NOTCH, thank you so very much !!!
would never recommend this hospital unless in state of emergency. don’t expect any good service from this hospital. almost all visits yet to have any good service from nurses and receptionists. nurses and receptionists are extremely rude and short with patients & could care less about their job. my daughter came in for her first mri (she has terrible anxiety & required an iv for this appointment) and she was almost in tears because she felt so uncomfortable and scared- they failed to make her feel safe and comforted, instead they added to the stress & were insensitive and rude towards her anxiety situation. if you have any questions regarding the services or any information about the hospital- you’re better off asking someone from the streets. i called to check and see if you could walk in for blood work- i got a ‘yes they do.’ then hung up on me before i could ask any further questions. i walked in ten minutes after phone call , waited in a line, then was told they were no longer doing walk ins for blood work that day.
