Here you will be able to see the opinions of real people like you who purchase the services of University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (Hospital) near to the territory of Barkerville (Canada).
At present this business has a score of 2.6 stars over 5 and the score has been calculated on 91 reviews.
You must have seen that the average score it has is average, and it's founded on a very large number of opinions, so we can say that the valuation is very accurate. If there are many people who bothered to leave their feddback when they are satisfied with the service, it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to write scores when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Hospital corresponds to the category of General hospital.
Nurses are overworked because of short staff and being a university hospital that also takes a lot of northern BC's patients from smaller communities. I think having non-caring nurses really makes for a terrible atmosphere at an already terrible atmospheric place (hospitals have negative energy)
Nurses are under staffed
Fantastic
I wouldn’t even rate a star if I had the choice, worst service, unprofessional and racist .... I guess that’s Prince George for ya ! You can probably drive to another town get help and drive back before they actually try to help you.... if you want to be treated like an animal come here ...

Deserves six start rating, staff and facility top notch!! Thank you for your caring spirit 3rd floor surgical
Need more work on the workers
It's a hospital, so generally it's not going to be a happy experience. All in all, staff is attentive, gets you processed in a triage method at emergency, and in my experience aims to get you in and out as quick as possible. I live south of PG, closer to Quesnel than PG, and if I have to go to the hospital I will drive the extra distance to go to the hospital in PG over Quesnel any day of the week.
PARKING!!!!!! NEED PASSES! Bring them back! And completely agree with you I.Malcolm! happened to me with my grandma except i had change and was telling the security person i really dont care if its cheaper elsewhere i have change and extra change dont tell me to move just help me with the dam broken meter (he was about to get the change chucked in his face and probably will happen next time)
We would like to thank Dr. Kingston for operating on our daughter Karen last night. Brian and Marilyn Beattie
Icu staff and nurses, doctors deserve the praise of the almighty for they step up and and care !!..my father is blessed to have such a caring staff and doctors!!..god bless you all!!..♥️♥️♥️????????♥️♥️♥️...
Treats patients as if they are cattle needing to be herded from department to department over the phone, then blames us for being unprofessional for explaining that we are tired of the loops.... WOW, I still have not received a call back on that surgeon to replace my PEG tube, when I was told it was oncology that will simply replace it. This has been going on 2 days of phone tag and departments not knowing how or where to do their job and now we are the unprofessional ones... I am not a professionally trained Doctor, Radiologist or Oncologist. I don't get paid to fix myself, so as a patient I am not Obligated to be professional when I am in pain for professionals being Unprofessional Not to mention my 2 month hospital stay was a complete nightmare that would of been a 2 week stay if people did their jobs correctly. I would of went to the head person but I suffer from SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 2) I do Not have the type of energy to fight people who fail to provide the healthcare I require them to, when i can barely lift a cup of water.... If you can avoid dealing with this place please travel to a better hospital.
I've had a lot of bad experiences with rude nurses and rude doctors who really shouldn't be in the field of work. I have also had some good nurses and doctors at the same time. If i can avoid this hospital and go to quesnel i will. Hopefully uhnbc gets is staff sorted out because it could be a really great hospital but you need to flush out the bad eggs
The most dirty hospital with very rude nurses, left my husband on his own with no directions on what to do after putting a catheter on him plus he got an infection do to the way they practice hygene so gross..The nurses are rude big time.
To the Nurse Grace who was working at 3:00 - 4:00 AM on November 17th in emergency when my girlfriend and I came in due to a horrific lung issue. Telling me to shut up because I was speaking on behalf of my girlfriend because of her coughing fits, physically hitting another patient who was sleeping in the waiting room (after an assumed 3 hour wait)(you can check the CCTV), and lastly asking SECURITY TWICE to separate my girlfriend and I once; while we were in the waiting room quietly sitting while she was having a nervous breakdown. And a SECOND TIME while I was behind the tape the guard moved me to trying to comfort her forcing me to wait outside out of sight. I sincerely hope you lose your job or have to encounter someone as disgusting and heartless as yourself.
Was in lab with my daughter and I love the way Lab assistant did her job ...Awesome
To the man bun nurse working the emergency intake, how have you not been fired for how rude you are to patients... Come in with respiratory problems, almost swollen shut throat, tells me to go to a walk in while visibly having problems to breathe... Coming from out of town and seriously needing help, this hospital emerge department was a complete joke!!!
Staff is very friendly, but medical attention takes forever!!!! I
The only reason i followed through with advice and hospital medicine was strictly because of the Teams of talented you and experienced .. dedicated staff that run the various functions of the hospital . GENUINELY CARING !! Thank you !!
I was born here. One star. Pretty disappointed.
I just spent 10 days at this hospital. The nurses at the hospital are great. They have to deal with a host of difficulties all day long and do the best they can. It's the other side of the coin that that brings down this hospital. Its needs to be bigger . It can not accommodate the size of this city and out area of other small towns. I for one know this first hand as stated above I spent 10 days there. When i was there the hospital was over bed coverage by 43 beds. They had people in hallways with no privacy curtains that up set me the most. This hospital needs to be enlarged not tomorrow BUT TODAY before it's to late. I know meals are terrible but they pass the minimum requirements and that's what counts. I could go on but this is a small bit.
Had nurse's (3 of them) steal from my fiancee when she was there for transplant organ rejection. There lack of care of patients and the fact the protect the nurse's who violate there oath makes me sick to my stomach
Nurse's that works on night shifts are loud laughing and jokes around in the hallway. Some of the student nurse are pushy and not understanding.
Thank you for saving my life.
One of the worst hospitals I have been.. You need to wait hours before doctor can check you.
Went in because I was having what I thought was the worst panic attack of my life. Got shoved in the waiting room with a women who was screaming in pain which did not help my anxiety levels. When I asked if there was somewhere quiet I could wait I was told no. I just sat in the waiting room for 2 hours freaking out before I finally calmed down. Also turns out that I was hypoglycemic, which is what had caused the panic attack. Had to walk home because I had taken an ambulance and I didn't have anyone to call because I live alone. It took calling my mom to figure out what was going on. Ate some chocolate and felt better in an hour or so. I genuinely think that they have no care about mental health and did not take me seriously at all. Disgraceful. I could've died from my sugar levels.
Thank you
Security at main entrance to direct you to where you want to go, not too long a wait time for appointments
Service was pretty slow, eh. I'm sorry, eh.
Not a bad hospital at all. Actually no issues with the hospital facility directly... EXCEPT the PARKING! What. a. JOKE. They removed the ability to have paper tickets despite the machines being newly installed, and have them covered up with a paper sign directing people inside to register their plate. If you haven't done this within 5 MINUTES of parking, you will be ticketed $40. It's disgusting that there's even paid parking at a hospital. Get it together! To gouge people out of money for a need like that is just tacky and so typical to PG :(
wanna say a big thank you to everyone in helping with my recovery.hard to put in words just how great all these people are.every doctor every nurse everyone was curtious helpful and unwavering in there perfressionalizm.10 out of 10.i wish I could remember every name but im sorry I cant.again THANK YOU. james William mclane

Typical Canadian Hospital!
Worst place to be
Icu should be cleanest place there but its not talking about waiting area Also we forgot about 2 ppl rule and just wanted my hubby blessed and one nurse stopped us like we were committing a crime i noticed she is pretty rude to us but nice to others Glad my hubby has differ nurses i wanted complain about that i broke down cried She has know we are not in right minds and just want best for patient
Our 91 year old grandfather has been roomed there for about a month with advanced dementia. They lost him today for over an hour. Luckily we found him down the road. When we brought him back the head nurse didn't even care no one tried to help or stop him. Neither security nor the police were called. What if he had gotten hurt, killed, or hurt someone else? I am appalled that a hospital like this is allowed to even be open. The total lack of concern that the staff on duty today had was disgusting.
Thank u Belinda in icu and all icu and surgery south emley and all staff 4 looking after me love u girls
I send you love & peace ☯️????
I was admitted Saturday evening after breaking my pelvis ring skiing. Every healthcare worker from admitting, to ER nurses, to ER doctors, to ward nurses (Mercedes and others names I don't remember) to Dr. Purnell, and finally the very knowledgeable physical therapist, Christina were amazing. All very thoughtful, caring, and kind.
The most terrible experience ever had just for getting medical services. Why is it even here when they won't even attend the patient for hours. Nobody even bothers and ask them to wait outside. This hospital is a disgrace to the city.
Worst hospital I have ever been in. Nurses are rude, doctors are rude. My brother got sent in my ambulance for a overdose and they were so rude to him he tried to leave then he wasn’t aloud to leave for 72 hrs. Then they just stuck him in a busy brightly lit hall in emergency and wouldn’t let him move into a darker space so he could at least sleep. The nurse was was extremely rude and didn’t care at all about his well being. Something has to be done about this hospital. It’s rated 3 something out of 5 stars. Come on Prince George what is going here!!! This is embarrassing and utterly pathetic.
Not open till 10:00am on Saturday
This hospital is not the place where you want to be taken to for any reason. If you have any sort of appointment in this hospital get the 2 hours prior to your appointment so you can find the proper area in the maze of corridors and empty desks or any sort of proper information. Signs are often missing information as to where you need to go. Ask To be reassigned to a different hospital!
Horrible!!!!
My 76 year old mother ended up being taken from her home this week to hospital on surgery north a in university northern bc hospital. She said she had exstremely low sodium levels. We live in bc and cant afford to go there. She said she was forced to hospital and they lost her purse she has no id no money to get home and cant drive. She had her pusre because they had to admit in emergency and use her id they knew who she was. She was missing her purse after being taken to surgical ward now even if she gets out which the might not let her she has no way to get any money to get home or from the bank to eat. She never got any paper work done for health care directive. She said because of low sodium levels in her blood tge will not let her drink.
Stepson admitted because of covid, we could only call for updates. But Moira (sp?) helped in getting a video call, Ben (nurse), (Lindsey sp?) , all were great to speak with. Considering how short staffed they were, all were considerate on the phone. Not their fault some calls were short and sweet, or we had to call back. Only downfall was that we never got a call from social worker that were supposedly going to get a call from for update on next steps. He is now in Vancouver, long road to recovery. All staff in PG please stay safe, thank you for your hard work.
Hrs before we saw any one. The get registered and wait over an hr for a doc. Then fast with the tech and then wait an hr and half in waiting room, and still waiting......
Very bad service! People who work in this hospital just don’t care. The waiting time is very long.
These people work long hours, understaffed, yet still care as best as they can. Not every doctor is a pleasant one, and people can't control who they work with. The people I've gotten to know over the last year and half from my ultrasound to eventually surgery to ins and outs on pediatrics- from nurses and doctors, to cleaning, to social workers, etc sure make me happy I live in Canada.
Like other reviews on here state, the nurses and staff here are rude. In my experience mostly the triage staff. Same blonde triage nurse always has a problem for no good reason and over abuses her authority. So much before tonight other patients the last time we were in with on shift, they were telling her she was out of line and I was not the problem. Even one of her staff members told me to complain about her last time as well. She walked up to me and was telling me where to get the number to do so. I wasn't in the mood to even go take the number down off the poster after dealing with the blonde nurse in traige. So eventually she brought me the pamphlet. She said, "we need to know where we are doing bad here so it can be fixed." I however got busy with life matters and never called in, but after having issues with the same nurse tonight I will be for sure. It's sad to see so many other complaints about the same problem down below. Tonight what set her off was me and my kid walking in with his toy after getting dropped off by a taxi. My son made it 1-2 steps in and he was told he couldn't have his toy. They even tried to take it from him. His toy that doesn't have any loud effects. Something he brought in almost every other time we've been there and staff had no issues with. Even on Friday well we were there last. We then went and sat in the same spot we have always sat since moving out this way. Never had one issue there before but were harassed to move tonight, if not denied service. Where we were sitting not one other person. Just a bunch of empty chairs. I left because people should not be treated in such a manner. Even my son was yelled at for something he didn't even do minutes before we left. Btw everyone I talked to was freezing in the waiting room tonight. Even ones with thick blankets brought from home. Something you guys should perhaps fix for your patients.
Let's get real here. UHNBC has caring talented staff that can only handle so many patients at one time, I mean who doesn't have limitations right? BUT....in my opinion, there are a few items that do need to be addressed: #1 - Someone PLEASE answer the phone at the lab! The staff there needs help! You want us to book appointments in advance but after calling in upwards of 45 to 60 times a person can't help but get..... discouraged? #2 - Your security contractor needs to be replaced. This contract was obviously at a lesser cost to Northern Health but it does come at a higher cost to taxpayers, I feel as a 61 yr resident of PG their level of service is not acceptable for Northern BC, period. Three quick examples: - allowing some people in with black masks or homemade masks then demanding the next person in line to wear a blue one or not be allowed in - constantly allowing multiple vehicles to park in the no parking zones at the front entrance, they look out the glass doors or sometimes walk right by like they don't existent, but never any reinforcement of the parking rules - the language barrier...I do not understand how a person who can't speak english fluently would be on your front line, representing the hospital. I'm glad we are a diversified community , but your HR dept exhibits hiring tendencies that appear extremely one-sided. Hospitals are run with public money & there is accountability correct? Maybe just a good house-cleaning is all that is required, as I'm positive there are many staff at Northern Health & UHNBC that really do care but do get tired of pushing rope uphill!
These amazing people saved my life, I know I've heard many negative things about our medical staff here but I will listen no longer. If at any time you are in extremely direct straits they will go above and beyond to make sure you are well enough to leave before you go. No one likes having to go to the hospital, but that doesn't justify the ridicule and nefarious minded statements about these awesome and amazing people. Type 1 diabetes, found at 30 from sugar toxicity, they are the best, they are heroes. Thank you so very much UHNBC staff everyone!
Terrible place. They made me wait for six hours in the emergency waiting area on uncomfortable chairs with a spiral fracture to see the ortho specialist which i ended up never seeing. I finally had to hobble out to the nursing station to find out whats going on only to be told "oh he cant see you and you could have left.".
Just had my first baby there, the staff and doctors were all so encouraging, friendly, and honest. It made child birth as pleasant as is possible to be and I am so glad I got to have that experience at a hospital that made me feel welcome and cared for. Thank you for bringing my baby into this world ❤
10/10 would rather suffer than go here. Unless you are bleeding to death be prepared to sit in pain for 6+ hours. Staff is rude and the place is unsanitary. You might leave sicker than you came
Staff is very accommodating and helpful.
I NEVER write reviews but the emergency wait times here are ridiculous. I would give 0 stars if I could. You're better off going to a walk-in clinic or your family doctor if you can help it. Even that is shorter. The staff need to get it together at this hospital. Embarrassing and disgraceful.
Extremely unorganized and terrible care for ppl who are already unwell. Staying at this hospital does not always make you better . Some leave in worse condition from lack of sleep and constant noise . Also the mundane overly repetitive and long assessments that the students make is annoying to say the least .
Me and my son have been waiting for around 5 hours in emergency. He is bleeding in a bad place and that is happening constantly. Apparantly that isn't a severe injury so we are still waiting. Also a man fell off his chair and couldn't get up and the staff didn't help so the people around him and I had to help.
If you can't afford a flag in decent condition - remove it, and finally (oct ) they have replaced it with a nice new flag!
Recieved a parking ticket at night parked in the front doors were locked probbly took me 15 mins just to walk around cause my grandmas legs are not good. Overly priced ticket for not having alot of people there pretty rediculous.
I was very comfortable in an uncomfortable procedure. The nurses were top shelf.
Heath care don't care
I gave birth to my daughter earlier in the year and stayed at the hospital over night once she was born. It was not an all around pleasant experience. Due to recovery rooms being all taken I had to stay in the labor room afterward for roughly 8-9 hours in which during that time nobody came in to clean anything up at all. Labor is messy and it would've been nice for someone to run a mop through to soak up some blood off the floor. I was also not provided with a meal, well I guess they did finally bring it... as we were about to walk out the door. I was there from 10pm Friday night and checked out 12pm Saturday and my meal came at around 11:30am Saturday, nice. Good thing there's a Subway nearby that my husband was able to run to to grab me a bite as I was a bit hungry after pushing another human out of my body. Luckily the staff I encountered were relatively friendly and helpful so I'll give it a 2/5.
Was called by the lab friday for blood work on sunday. Go to the lab they lost my paperwork 3 patients on hole ground floor. 2 month ago they lost my wives paperwork ended up going down 3 times wwe live on the hart and not round the corner. People are dieing cause they cant get surgery because of covid and will be so overwhelmed not what I seen more security than patients wasting tax payers money
