Here you will see all the opinions of real people like you who are consuming the products of Royal Alexandra Hospital (Hospital) in the area of Alberta (Canada).
At this moment this business has a score of 3.1 over 5 and this rating is based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that its rating is average, neither too high nor too low, and it is based on a very large number of reviews, so we may say that the score is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to rate when they've done well, it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to give scores when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Hospital belongs to the category of General hospital.
The antepartum wing is incredible. The nurses are nice and friendly and welcoming. I had a scheduled csection. The OR staff was amazing. Super friendly and attentive. The postpartum wing, however, is a nightmare. The nurses are all very rude and unsympathetic. I requested a private room and was into semi private. My bed/area was about 1/4 of the room. The rest of the room was for the other bed. There was no cot in my quarter and my husband was expected to sleep on a hard plastic chair while the other side has the cot. My roommate left and my husband asked to use the cot and was told he could until someone else came down and then he would be kicked out. A nurse showed up a few hours later and told him to move because he wasn’t allowed to use that side. We ended up trying to share my hospital bed because this was better than the plastic chair. As someone said in an earlier comment, this was the worst experience.
Thank you for the excellent care you provided from emergency department, to ICU and unit 54 ????
Dr Solarte and his team of doctors and nurses here are probably the best in the buisness! They always strive to make sure their patients are cared for before they leave and go home....
Have been on several occasions within the last few months. The staff and specialists are fabulous. Do their best to make you as comfortable as possible.
Wife is 8.5 months pregnant and here we are waiting for her regularly scheduled ultrasound for 1.5 hours. Her appointment was 1.5 hours ago. But we can't leave and come back later because then we loose our place in the lineup. Amazing.
Great care from all the nurses and doctors, and paramedics. Very busy downtown hospital in Edmonton.
This hospital is the worst. Doesn't deserve one star. Terrible treatment by staff, did not brace my neck to transport after motor vehicle accident where I hit my head and lost memory. They did not talk to me about concussions. I heard the trauma staff giving the paramedics trouble for it. I waited 8 hrs to get a ct scan and the results for it. The nurses were rude and bad tempered. Especially Breann in A. They did not give me any information about what happened just said I'm good to be released and asked if I needed a bus ticket. Instead of letting me pull off the tape fast, she slowly removed tape on my arm even after I said stop. She just looked at me didn't respond and kept going. No compassion or people skills whatsoever. Upon followup with my doctor it seems there are some concerns with cranial nerve damage, and there was some things this hospital did not do which they probably should have. Try calling their staff to find out and be met with more obnoxious staff on the phone who tell me I'm wrong etc. I would hope and pray that no one is ever forced to be admitted to this terrible hospital. I think this hospital is the worst in Canada. Good luck if you do wake up here
Worse hospital lazy staff don't do-nothing don't get a blanket or noting don't care about patients
Most staff is friendly..has numerous places to eat and get soft drinks.the emergency area has the worst waiting time to see a dr..once waited over 8hrs
I've had surgery in this hospital, visited patients and even worked out of the Alex and I will say it's got a terrible Emergency Room, terrible Mental Health Ward and it's laid out in a confusing manner. The doctors are supposed to be top notch and the nurses are as good as any. The food court is terrible with a lack of selection and the parking here is difficult. This hospital is so busy it would be nice to see it stream lined so there are less inconveniences and more patient care.
The hospital is very professional. My younger brother gave birth to his first child here.
The docks aren’t clocks!
I went to see a loved one who was seriously injured and the staff here were very compassionate.
I was sent away twice, dispite living 45 minutes away and being 7 days past due, because they didn't have space. I was in labor in the hospital for 24 hours, being told to push harder, before they called in a specialist, who was the first doctor to see me. I was not allowed to have water this entire time in case of C-section (which I told them I would not have the entire time unless a doctor first saw me and said it was the only way.) Fast forward to the next day the specialist realized in all of 1 minute that my daughter was facing the wrong way, and within 5 minutes of him being there my daughter was born. I was treated like an inconvenience to the nurses, who acted irritated that I was "not pushing hard enough." Not once did anyone tell me how to deal with the pain of back labor, check for it or even mention it as a possibility. There was no amount of pushing that could have changed anything (the specialist had to use forceps.) When I was 8 centimeters dilated they acted like I was over reacting from the pain, literal eye rolling. Finally, they checked the epidural... it was empty and too late to top it off because I was then 10 centimeters dilated. I was pushed to sign paperwork for a C-section multiple times and refused. I was refused water because of it. A group of random med students came in to watch me give birth, at the last minute, without anyone ever asking me if I was comfortable with that. Because the experience was not bad enough, they needed to throw 8 extra bodies into the room to stand around. After my daughter was born, I was put in a shared room with 4 other mothers who had just given birth. No option to pay for a private room available. This was easily the worst experience of my life. When I hear the stories of beautiful births with competent nurses and doctors my blood boils at the way the delivery of my daughter was handled. I was 19 and alone, things were scary enough. I wish so badly that I could go back in time and pick a different hospital to give birth in. All of that said, my girl was born the happiest baby I had ever met, so at least we got that right.
If there's a 0 star review that is gonna be my review. My wife gave birth to this hospital, my wife's water broke around 3am but she gave birth around 5pm. Can you imagine how many hours of waiting is that?! The service of the staffs here are so slow! We went back to the emergency after 3 days because my wife's Blood Pressure was high and it's dangerous during post partum and still the emergency facility is so freaking slow. How and why do you call it emergency when people are waiting for 5 hrs before they were served or helped. There's no sense of urgency for patients. People will die on this hospital. Royal Alexandra SUCKS!
My mom who is 70 had severe stomach pain..all the nurses and doctors cared about were the homeless. My mom signed her self out she had enough...and it has very poor access to get a cab...I will never go to that hospital again
So pleased that they recently opened up a mental health ward in the emergency department. The staff are wonderful and the care is exemplary. No comparison to ANY clinic or hospital when it comes to seeking help and the safest place I have ever found while in distress. Thank you to everyone who works in that department, this is a great start to the changes that must be made in this city for HELPFUL and COMPETENT mental health resources. I've spent 10+ years in the system being told there is hope and the Royal Alex is the first to deliver. IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE COPING- YOU ARE NOT ALONE, PLEASE KEEP SEEKING HELP!!! I believe in you and you ARE worth it ????
Nice
Most unprofessional health institute in the province. Ran by quacks and strung out nurses
The service was horribly slow
This Hospital is full of bedbugs. The hospital cleaning staff are not properly sanitizing emergency area. I felt biting I told the nurses and they looked at eachother and didnt respond. Its very dirty on the surface you can clearly see The filth. Please kill the bedbugs
Staff great

Bathrooms are too small
I was assaulted here
Very friendly staff at the orthopaedic centre
ALERT:They ask you have any medications u brought with u so they can store it for u, DO NOT GIVE TO ANYONE
They help me quickly
Recently had our baby delivered in this hospital, I was very impressed with the quality of experienced obstetricians. Very knowledgeable and caring. Most of our nurses were fantastic as well.
Hella long queue timer. Aside from that, staff is friendly. Salute to those security guards, I'd lose my mind tryna do they're job. Guess good service is well waited on.
Just go to university of Alberta. The doctors at Royal Alexander are inept and don't care about you. They rush you along and inadequately investigate your symptoms. You will have better luck with Google. This place is a joke.
The family medicine center in the hospital is OK but Dr's spend no time with you the inturns do all the work and the dr pops in at the end to say bye front desk staff is amazing though some of the Dr's are great I was there for 15 years up Intel a week ago my regular Dr is away she had a baby her replacement is a jackass so if you can get in look up the Dr's on rate MD 1st see the reviews in the Dr's
Unit 24 has been nothing short of amazing. My Mother is so happy with all of the staff as am I. Friendly and helpful. Thank you for everything you do, you are appreciated!!
It's ok but took to long when my baby mama needed help
I have been in the emergency room and admitted a few times. Triage staff have always been very kind and the doctors and nurses always made me feel comfortable. Even when I was at my worst, they were compassionate and uplifting. Thank you all for being there.
There’s a 5hour wait time, the nurses and clerks will all look at you like you’re crazy when you walk in. No one cares you’re in pain and it also shows too, especially when you have to lay down cuz sitting hurts. This is not where you want to go if you’re in extreme pain. The hospital is dirty, seems like the nurses and drs didn’t mind the dirt i wonder what else could be dirty. AC fans was full on blasting the hospital is extremely cold especially when it’s -34 outside on a cold winter Wednesday you’d think someone would turn the fans off. Washrooms are extremely disgusting, I’m talking poop everywhere. I liked the X-ray department I’d rate it 2/10 because there would be rare occasions when I met some nice staff members!
Parking is a joke and a half here. Went in for a test and I was 30 mins earlier. I waited 3 and a half hrs because they kept bumping me back due to there being lots of old people. I missed another appointment at another hospital. They had to place an iv in my arm and I donate regularly but the nurse really jabbed it in there and caused bruising. I would not go back here unless I was literally dying outside of the hospital.
The absolute worst emergency room in western Canada. I even had a nurse say he's a Indian must want pain killers. I said I have oxy 10s for pain I need help to stop the bleeding. I sat there for 4 hours bleeding. I'm telling you go to any other hospital then the Royal Alex if you need a emergency room
If I had the option of giving a 0 rating that what I’d give. My father is currently there and the staff is useless and ignorant. So far 2 people this week have passed away in his room. Both of which had there emergency alarms going off, sometimes for hours on end. My father is in alot of pain and they were supposed to bring them hours ago. When you go to the units desk everyone ignores you while they discuss vacation plans and such. It’s obvious they care more about upgrading their building than about the well being of their patients. If you’re bringing someone to die in pain this is the perfect place.
Nice service!! Active Staff!! Clean place!!
Been there for high blood pressure clinic. I knew that I would have high blood pressure because of family medical history. However, I talked to the doctor that I won't have time for visiting nor take test for a while cause I am really busy. Told him that it is really hard to take the day off for a while. But, he did not listen to me at all. He kept forcing me to agree to take the test or visit the doctor. And, It was really stressful moments every single seconds. I felt he does not respect my time and situations that I've explained to him at all. I only talked to him twice in the clinic and on the phone today. Well, It was really uncomfortable and unpleasant experiences. I rather find the other doctor. To be honest, I don't want to get any treatment from him. Eventually, I will be stressed out and get worse anyway.
We had two very different experiences here with the birth of our children. Overall great facility. Be sure to advocate for yourself
Worst experience.. nurse was super rude with me.. not sure if she was having a bad day or staff is rude in general. I have never written a review before but I am doing it this time.
The Royal Alex saved my life back in 1996, Massive Stroke, ended life as I knew it. But it is 2018 and I am going to be 69 Thanks to the Alex
The pass week I have been in and out of The Royal Alex and the University of Alberta Hospital. To visit my grandfather at The Royal Alex and my grandmother at the UofA hospital. I must say that the staff at the Royal Alex are unbelievably caring, attentive and great listens when it comes to the well being of my grandfather. I personally would like to thank the staff for taking such a great care!!!

The staff were a little judgemental on my situation that was going on. Made me kind of feel uncomfortable.
I have never received such good care from a hospital as I have from the staff at the Royal Alexandra, especially a nurse by the name of Angie. They went above and beyond to ensure that I was okay and took care of me far and away from my expectations. Going to a hospital is rarely an enjoyable thing to do but they made sure it was as painless as possible. Thank you again to the medical staff at this hospital!
I really appreciate and thankful for all who’s gone help me doctor and nurses in March 16 2021 when I was in emergency room. Love and respect for all ????kalkidan Alemu
I had a work accident and needed to visit the hospital. The staff was so friendly and super helpful at explaining the procedure. The intake lady went above and beyond to make sure I wouldn't encounter any potential problems in the future with my WCB documents, as I just moved here from Ontario. The doctor was great, the lady who cleaned up and sealed my injury was great! I even made friends in the waiting room. Thanks for everything = ) Sarón
My heart goes out too all health care workers. I’m so appreciative of all you do.
Had chest pains was sent home. 2 weeks later back with chest pains then they let me see a cardiologist now going for angiogram. They should have done something the first time.
My experience with Dr Ken Stewart office has been very positive. He truly cares.
Best care ever, nurses a very compassionate, Doctors are friendly.
Been there several times to visit. Great hospital and caring facility....
I went twice to emergency section. wait time is long and you should be patient. stuff are friendly and caring and have good services.
Bathrooms are always filthy, twice I've mentioned it to the front desk and second time was bluntly told there was nothing she could do about it that the cleaners have set times and will get to it when they can and that it was out of her control, now i can understand she doesn't but one would think after 2 complaints someone would make an effort to look into it. I find it pretty sad that a hospital isn't kept on top of cleanliness.( have to say the rest of the hospital isnt much better.) Other hospitals I've been at you practically trip over the cleaning staff. Bathrooms in the foodcourt we're closed for an hour with no one in sight to clean them, that's how long we sat there before i finally went in anyways because i really had to go, again filthy (hence why it was closed) but why on earth would it take over an hour to get them cleaned in a foodcourt were it's going to obviously be busy?!? Nursing staff on unit 33 were excellent and very helpful no complaints about them at all. NO cafeteria at the Royal, foodcourt has only 3 fast foods 2 of them close early afternoon ( 3pm I believe) and 2 coffee shops one is Tim's and the other one also closes early. So overall nurses were awesome but the hospital itself needs ALOT of TLC I get that it's an old hopistal but all the more reason to take care of it and have pride and keep it clean, and not much choices for food when half aren't open at decent hours. So with that said i really hope i don't have to come back to the Royal Alex as i was and still not impressed with it at all.
I went there in labor, with my water broken and first told no doctors were available to see me so I had to stand for awhile waiting in pain from contractions which were less than 5minutes apart. then finally a doctor arrived and then I was told no bed was available. finally gotten a bed then the doctor was a certified idiot (sorry to say) until the mercy of God send me an angel nurse who gave Mr a life time help and experience until my baby was born safe and sound. God bless her but I would never go there again
Absolutely the worst hospital you could ever be in, 80% of the staff are very inconsiderate,
DO NOT GO TO EMERGENCY UNLESS YOU GO WITH AMBULANCE OR IN SUCH A DYING SITUATION. Today my friend went to emergency as her family doctor advised to do so. She was experiencing short of breath and severe wheezing with left side epigastric pain. She registered with triage nurse at 9 pm and waited with her husband in the waiting room. After 30 minutes, they called her in for an ecg as her heart rate was between 115-120. Then she waited until 1 am and asked the nurse why it's late. Nurse told her to wait again and said she may have pneumonia and needs to be treated. Around 1.15am my friend called inside and left in a isolation room with other isolated patient. No body explained her why she is in isolation precautions. She was unattended until 5 am and nurses said they are busy. So finally she left the hospital without seeing a doctor or without any treatment to send ther kids to school.. after 8 hours of waiting and doing nothing..
The wait was extremely long in emergency but I do wanna say Dr lung is absolutely amazing and did a lovely job treating my 3 year old.
Very slow and I should've went some where else ????
This rating is for the efficiency of the ER. 8 hours is a disgrace for an emergency room when people are in serious pain. I spent about 4 days on ward 21 and the nursing staff are amazing so I want to be clear that this isn't a reflection on them, love them to pieces. But our healthcare system is broken when people can't trust that their hospital will be able to help them in time when waiting in extreme pain.
Best egg salad I've ever had.
Most of their ER staff are nice & efficient! Yet the wait times here are quite horrendous!
staff are amazing at all levels. numerous family members have gone in an am always pleased with the level of care they receive. province needs to upgrade amenities and infrastructure at hospital though.
We had our baby delivered here last monday. The nurses and doctors were top notch! Extremely caring, compassionate and willing to go out of there way to help. We had a great experience. Being this is our first child, we were a little on edge but the people at RAH awesome and took great care of us. Thank you so much!!!!
Been nearly twenty years since I stayed in a hospital. I don't remember ever being treated so well by all staff, nurses and doctors. Hospitals suck, but they made my stay much more bearable. Hats off and two thumbs up to day surgery staff in B101/23 hr. And special thanks to "Ken", either an orderly or a porter, not to sure... But he went over and above to make me comfortable. Just amazimg, considering the circumstances. (Oct.-07-19).
Er. Has always helped me even when I was kinda of a nuisance.
The staff work hard to make sure everyone is being looked after considering all the challenges they face daily. Hats off to them all.
My late wife was given the best treatment. The nurses and the doctor were kind and helpful. She was treated by a liver specialist to prevent the organ from killing her. I have nothing but respect for all the staff who attended her. Sadly my wife died October 25, 2016. She passed away at U of A Hospital, surrounded by friends and family. She was given a beautiful funeral. Sixty people attended her Celebration of Life. Her ashes were spread in the Fraser River at Hope, B.C (her request) by her daughter, grandsons and sister. I was unable to attend this due to circumstances beyond my control, but I did light a candle and sent her a prayer at home. My grief has abated now, because I know she is at peace.
Walked in to Emergency in March 2016 with severe chest pain. Staff were universally competent, compassionate, and all-around fantastic, and got me promptly and thoroughly tested, diagnosed, and treated. This was my first entirely positive encounter with a medical establishment in 10 years in Canada. Leaving a review because I ended up in ER after getting blown off by a doctor at Beverly Towne Medical Clinic, and very unhappy with that experience.
My son was born here December 2015 in the Lois Hole hospital for women as an emergency c-section. Medical staff were not only professional but also compassionate. We stayed for 3 days and meet dozens of people who were each one so fantastic.
There not much bad I can say about this hospital. The paid parking is annoying but I dislike that about every hospital. But I had a day surgery here. The nurses and the doctors were beyond amazing. Answered all my questions. Very friendly. Kind. They called my husband and myself after my surgery to make sure I was healing okay and to answer any questions I have. All around great experience!
Pathethic is how would rate this hospital. We don't live in the city my wife was taken there by ambulance. Then they discharge her still not well and book a test for her in the city for the day after they discharged her. She ends up having to be returned to the hospital in an ambulance again and now has spent 3 days waiting for emergency surgery. And to top it off patient relations says she has to phone them with any concerns they are even though I told them where she is and that she would like to talk to them.
I was just discharged from the Royal Alexandra Hospital ICU today. The staff are amazing. Expecially my evening nurse Sophie. You go girl. Best hosptital in Edmonton for trauma patients hands down.
I was admitted into the trauma unit for multiple rib fractures. The staff in both emergency and trauma ward were very kind helpful, and professional. The only complaint I have is the other patient in my room was unable to move and when he soiled himself the night nurse talked down to him like a child. Like he could control his actions in his current state.
Very bad place the staff is very rude and not professional.
A psychologist by the name of Dr. Daniel Chant and his wife Flora Chant who live at 7311 168 Avenue Edmonton AB T5Z 0B4 are scam artist consumer frauds. They purchase products online, accept delivery, and charge it back on their credit.
Bad waiting time, waited 4 hours, just to be called into another room to wait more hours. You're better off going to a walk in clinic
Excellent care and screening by front line staff. Wonderful male volunteer walked over to community service, where again the utmost care for this current health crisis was taken. Really felt safe here despite my misgivings of having this appointment in a hospital. Thanks to all of you awesome frontline staff! Hallelujah for a job well done!
No help from a man in scrubs who scolded me about not opening the automatic door properly...he watched me struggle with my husband in a wheelchair and crutches and told me what "I should be doing with the door."...This is me...a middle-aged female with a 60 year old husband who drove 3 hours for a 9 pm MRI. First time at this Hospital, and I am not impressed. The cleaning staff giving me grief?...Dec 5th at 9 pm...Better check it out. Witnesses watching the entire episode . My husband was already in pain, and then to get this?..not necessary. You better check out your system and the attitude adjustments...or tell your flat lined staff to stay home.
Never fun to visit the hospital but this one is one of the worst in Edmonton.
I miss the misericordia. I had an emergency surgery at that hospital and the staff were wonderful. A nurse here ripped my IV out like it was about to kill me. I had an IV in for a week and a half at the misericordia and it never bled like the one I had here did. But the staff were really nice, I just think ripping out the IV Like that was unnecessary as nobody had ever done it like that before. :/
I was at the ER last night due to prolonged head and neck pain that wasn't showing any signs of improvement. I had an appointment with my regular doctor but it was still a few days away and I didn't feel I could wait that much longer to start getting some relief. My neck was completely immobile and I had shooting nerve pains throughout my scalp, neck, and shoulder. I was unable to rest my head on a pillow at night because it exasperated the pain that much more. I found myself literally sitting up all night for the previous five night propped up against several pillows to keep my neck from moving as the slightest motion was brutally painful. I was also having issues swallowing and was surviving on taking in liquids through a straw. Basically, I was in the worst pain, was totally sleep deprived from it, and was pretty darn hungry. Not to mention how useless this all makes a person feel. Going in, I knew ther would potentially be quite a log wait, and there was. Just over five hours. But that's just part of an ER visit. There are several other people feeling just as lousy as you do that are going through the same thing. Some people's conditions are medically much worse than your own so these patients take presidence. I feel that concept is more than fair. The staff, doctors and nurses have no more control over this than the people waiting to see them. Emergency situations also arise which obviously take priority. If you know that going in, all you can really do is sit and be patient about it. When I finally got to see the doctor, Dr. Nichol, I was pleasantly greeted and made to feel comfortable with him right away. He truly cared about what I was experiencing and really listened to what I had to say. After discussion and evaluation, he determind I must have nerve root entrapment in my C2/C3 spine and he went straight to a treatment plan. He gave me some meds to help the pain, some to calm the nerves, and went even further to inject several sites with a nerve blocking agent. Instant relief! I left there feeling so excited with the notion that I would finally be able to rest my head on a pillow and get some sleep. Unfortunately, this didn't turn out to be so as one area at the base of my skull was still far too painful and I ended up sitting up all night again. I don't blame Dr. Nichol for this as he did whatever he could, it's just that I have one of those bodies that is very stubborn when it comes to pain relief. I'm just happy to have had any relief at all. Overall, I would definitely go back to UofA for any future issues. They treated me with dignity and respect and didn't hesitate to help. What more could you ask for. I know other reviewers mention that there are unsavoury people and drug addicts hanging around the hospital but that's just the way it is in a city. They need help just as much as the next person and shouldn't be looked down upon because of their life circumstances. We're all people here and it could happen to the best of us. Choose compassion not fear and hate. Nobody's better than anyone else, some people have just had better opportunities in life.
I was born here so I can't really complain
I had surgery here a year ago and the nurses were incredible at making me feel comfortable.
Very friendly and quick.
Doctors were nice and supportive but the nurse in the ER kept yelling at me to sit down even after I said multiple times it hurts to sit down my legs and body were starting to give out on me and nurse just kept yelling saying I've had the pain for awhile a few more hours ain't gonna hurt it got to the point I was in so much pain I started yelling and freaking out then nurse from the back came out and took me and took test and checked me out then put me with the mental health specialist I had to explain for hours I'm not crazy I've just been in pain for so long and medicine's I was proscribed weren't working then the health Dr came in and told me I was right the medicine I was given is so old they don't even procribe it anymore cause bacteria and germs are immune to it then he gave me a prescription and told me I was good to go Update still been in crazy pain keep going in cause it's the closest hospital to me they keep just taking urine samples and saying all we can do is check of it's an Infection i keep telling them its not an infection theres something happening inside my body I can feel it they just keep giving me tylenol I have at home that doesn't do anything I've been 5 times in the past 2 weeks in worse and worse pain but they just keep doing the same thing and actually told me to stop coming in last time I was actually in I could hear nurses talking about how much I've been in an laughing well I was screaming in pain....went to the university hospital and they actually took me seriously and checked me out and did multiple tests and are actually helping me
Our son was born here. It was a difficult time for us but the staff were all very kind and helpful.
Incredibly rude staff. Some staff are nice but are dismissive and others are incredibly unsympathetic. The hospital is clean which is nice but that's the lowest standards.
Came in with my boyfriend who is having chest pains. Still waiting 3 hours later and still no room to Eve look at him. Meanwhile there is homeless people sitting in emergency cutting their to nails. This place is discusting, people are nice but service to look after people is terrible.
Once in the hospital, doctors and nurses are very attentive and professional...as are the security guards. The food is better there than most other hospitals (Especially the pudding). If you are going into the emergency room, however, at night and early hours of the morning there seem to be a lot of drunk people and high people loitering. It can be quite disconcerting. Waiting hours seem to be the best at just before 5:00am.
Sitting at the hospital with my husband whom has a broken wrist , we have been sitting here for over 3 hours and all they have done for him is give him an ice pack . Thanks for nothing !
The staff at the emergency desk were friendly and helpful. The nurses were kind and answered all our questions while we waited for a doctor to come talk to us. The doctor was also fantastic and took the time to explain what will happen next etc...Thank you to all the nurses and doctors. You guys are amazing ❤️
Well this is one of our older hospital and busyest hospital but the staff here work hard and there good people that treat the people good and yes sometimes you can be waiting for hours as all the hospitals but when it's your turn they care
Great experience with the OB, the paediatrician, the image center and the nurses for 8 months. Appreciate with their professionalism and their service.

They were so compassionate and focused, yet classy and sophisticated
My experience with the mri department was amazing. But my experience in the er was not. As I was waiting to register a man sitting all Alone was eating a granola bar. As he did this he was approached by a nurse who proceeded to tell him to go eat in the er washroom..... eat in a place where ppl defecate...bleed....throw up. No one should ever be told to eat somewhere that disgusting. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Bad service. Waiting so long. People throwing up and no one helped them.
Emily was avobe and beyond at ultra sound..she was nice and friendliest i have ever seen..all the tech was not friendly with my wife before. But emily was exceptional!!
No patient privacy, they gang up when one request it. Even the cleaning staff knows everything about one and one's health needs. One has to make one's own bed and the shower stall is blocked by furniture, yet they mock you as "filthy" if you don't shower. These days, patients are jailed in, no access to visitors and they aren't allowed out unless to smoke
I can't understand why can't they just come with a better system so that patients don't need to wait for their turn for hours, especially when this pandemic is hovering on our heads. Scheduling less appointments per day would help a great deal. By keeping patients waiting means you are increasing the risk by exposing them to the pandemic. Reforms needed for a quick in and out service.
PARKING!!!!! parking is horrible!!! Icy conditions and being 8 1/2 months pregnant. After looking for parking for almost an hour. Then trying to find a change machine. I missed my appointment. I was in tears because of the frustration that i just went home. Parking is only designed for people with wheel chair accessible. For the rest of us who may struggle arent thought of. I understand due to theft ypu cant have change machines all over. But your pay machines should have that option.
Slow as slow can be.
Good patient care. Keep the Good work going.
I was in their psych ward for two months as a teenager. Staff were incredibly malevolent when I was in crisis and I was incorrectly diagnosed. They were ignorant of my situation and blamed me for my trauma. They treated me as if I were just an awful, hormonal teenager rather than a victim. I've amassed great trauma from my experience there, and now, 6 years later, I hold great hurt and anger towards how their manipulations still affect me.
I am so pleased I chose to have my very first baby here. I was born at this hospital as well, so it only felt natural to have my son be born at the RAH as well. Every nurse and doctor I dealt with during my visit from beginning of labour to going home two days later were all so wonderful to me. Everyone was so incredibly supportive, informative and friendly. I highly recommend this hospital. Thank you so, so much to all the staff involved in my journey. I appreciate you all so much!
Literally the most corrupt and unprofessional emergency staff. I'd give them a minus 5 if I could.
My niece was born at 26 weeks (basically 3 months early). She was 1 lb, 13 oz (830 g). The staff at the NICU at the Royal Alex were awesome!! They gave excellent care to my niece, were always friendly, encouraging and professional! Now my niece is almost 3 1/2 years old and is doing great.
Attended royal alexandra for delivery of our baby. Nurses were very friendly and helpful before and after the delivery. Had the nurses not noticed that the baby was coming face first we may have run into complications during natural labour. However the nurse noticed irregularities, grabbed a doctor, who confirmed the issues. Within 15 minutes c-section was under way. Baby was born with no issues (as was wife). Would highly recommend doing this hospital. Having read some of the other reviews, people clearly don't understand the medical system (if you have to wait in emergency, you are not a priority. Be happy, this means you are not likely to die). Five star rating, staff was exceptional, hospital itself was cleaner than anything I've seen from other hospitals I've worked in, equipment is high tech, only place it loses a point is the food is typical hospital food (expected!).
Emergency room nurses and stuck up, cranky and make it very obvious they hate their job and and the patients are a huge inconvenience and pain in their asses. Once I got put in a unit the cleaning ladies decided 3am was a good time to come and clean my room. Was not impressed.
They helped me out and braced my leg and gone withen 3 half days later
Zero management the worst hospital ever.
Keep up the effort everyone! Hopefully more people can start taking better care of their health. Train like a ninja.
Clean friendly
Hospital mail doesn't exist, must be given to mailing for personal information. Here can't write everything you know. So kindly send hospital email address. Thanks. Hospital look is attractive and sanitation is great.
Clean
I haven't been here since I was born but I alsomt died due to being premature but I ended up pretty well
Long wait times. Not really staffs fault. Very grateful for the care we have received here.
Thank you for helping me in my time of need.
My boyfriend was trying to find the number to central booking for the hospital. We googled it and no luck so he thought he would try and call the number on the google page and ask to just be directed. No big deal right.... well apparently it is a big deal to get to central booking for surgeries. The lady who answered the phone was very rude and not welcoming at all when he called. So he speaks to her nice and respectfully and asked to be sent to central booking and she was asking him all these questions very rudely on "why do you need to call" "what was the surgery for". So anyway after just trying to get sent to central booking he send him to "Supposedly" administration but actually sent him to Colonoscopy instead. So no big deal he just explained the situation and asked to be transferred to where the lady was supposed to send him "administration" but he thought he would just ask the lady on the phone to central booking. She rudely said "I'm not giving you the number you can look for it yourself" so my boyfriend just hung up since he was getting frustrated as well when all he needed was the central booking number or transferred to it. So i thought I would just call myself and see where it takes me and so I called and the same lady answers who talked to my boyfriend and I explained the situation and I was very polite till she became rude with me. I told her he was accidentally sent to Colonoscopy not administration. She starts giving me attitude over the phone because apparently he was not sent to colonoscopy and he was wrong. I hung up at the point because I ain't going to deal with someone who is very rude and not welcoming over the phone. So i rate this hospital a one since also this isn't the first time we have had problems here.
Shoutout to all the angels who work at the RAH.
Been here a couple times they are really under staffed the wait time in emergency lately has been hours for waiting to see a doctor the doctors and nurses are very nice but very under staffed it’s very unfortunate
This hospital is one of the worst in Edmonton. no one can help you get to where your going the staff is very rude. I was once brought to the royal Alex wen I was pregnant and having problems told them many times I was pregnant. they pumped me full of drugs and stuff then asked if I was pregnant again. then proceed to keep me at the hospital for 9 hours for them to say your fine go home. Was not told anything nothing . Weather the drugs they just gave me will harm my child. They treated me like I was a criminal.again worst hospital in Edmonton
if you’re going into labour, go somewhere else.
Nurses are to full of themselves and treat every one like garbage.
Staff are great
Went in for a day surgery that wound up being an over night stay, friendly doctors, nurses, and staff. My biggest complaint was the lack of clear maps and directions. It was just a guess as to which parking lot was closest to the admittance desk, etc.
Staff and services are excellent easy access everything a hospital should be.
Horrible experience as a senior. Stay away. Crowded hallways, fire codes ignored, could not get proper med, food, or test results. Some staff snotty, arrogant attending physician would not leave my room. I had to get dressed and walk out of hospital. Left worse than when I went in. No accountability.
Waiting times are horrible . Tax dollars at work here . Make sure you aren't dying cause you could be in trouble .
The Hospitsl is good, the worse are the long hours before seeing a Health professional.
So I came in to refill a prescription of Suboxone that was prescribed to me by my pain clinic and unfortunately my doctor is away so I have nowhere else to go. I'm experiencing some serious withdrawal sweating nausea and vomiting confusion dizziness all of it realizing all these wounded people around me aren't moving and everybody's sleeping and that I only have so much time to fill the prescription and get to my pharmacy I decided to leave figuring I'd have better luck at a medicine center than here even if I got my prescription I'd still be going through withdrawals until I could get to my pharmacy tomorrow when they open so I told them I was going to leave and that if it got bad that I just call an ambulance to bring me in and I got attitude from the nurse behind the counter stating an ambulance isn't going to get me in any faster. I just meant I know who to call in case of an emergency if it gets really bad but instead I have to get snarky attitude so do not come here for any prescription or withdrawal symptoms as people keep coming my paper getting pushed further and further back because it's just a pill but little does anybody know how this pill makes people feel. I have great respect for all of our emergency care workers especially during this time of covid but this is a bad experience for me and no one understands. And don't bother asking how long it takes cuz they won't answer you
I can’t believe the experience I had last night, I was brought in by ambulance after fainting and having severe neck pains they had me in a neck brace and back stabilizer 6 hours of laying in the trauma room and still hadn’t even got a xray I started freaking out panicking feeling claustrophobic in the neck brace..... are you serious 6 hours and not even a xray
I always have received great service from this hospital every time I needed it sometime a little patience is needed but it especially when "kenneys kuts" come into play
I am not sure why they refer to 'Emergency' as so. There is no sense of urgency, minimal communication, and the wait times are absurd. I waited 7 hours in a dark, dirty, busy hallway while waiting for test results. Somehow my blood test was lost, and I had to get more blood drawn, so this slowed down the entire process by 3 whole hours. Meanwhile, no one communicated this to me, and I had to keep asking why it was taking so long. I am absolutely gutted that this staff and hospital are being given my tax dollars. Many of the staff was sitting around at a desk on their phones, eating, gossiping, and getting no work done. I wasn't offered anything in terms of food or drink during my wait time, not even water- even after being told my veins were dry because I was dehydrated and that's why it took so long for multiple nurses to draw my blood. What a shame that this hospital is in Edmonton. I will most definitely not return here for any medical need.
Emergency staff nurses are horrible Doctors are excellent and just because they are not ill, they hv no empathy at all to those who are sick. Night staff is worse, trying to get Tylenol for three hours to no avail instead they called security for me. I’m sure this job is not fun for them
i have been grossly mistreated here twice buy 3 different doctors, 8 different nurses, birth certificates misfiled twice one was supposed to be a death certificate. and am pursuing legal action against them.
I loved to because when my grandparents were taken to Royal Alex, they were out in 3 days.
This is the worst ever hospital. Waited from 5 pm in the ER and now its 11:17. Very disappointed with the service here. Next time i would rather die in my apartment than waste my time coming to this incompetent ER. Very disappointed and annoyed!!!
Angry, rude disgusting nurses that have poles up their asses. Ghetto Hospital thats old and dirty. No one smiles. When you have an appointment, its several long hours later. Horrible horrible place. I don't trust the doctor's.
Very rude staff, nurses and a handful of doctors. Every time I’ve gone there I’ve gotten sick or an infection that nearly killed me. The nurses are very uninterested in doing things properly the first time and are quick to point blame. I had a nurse that couldn’t find a vein in me (because I’m a cancer patient that has very tiny veins due to chemotherapy) so she stuck it in my arm, wasn’t even in the vein but just under my skin and pumped me up with a liquid she refused to explain exactly what it was. When I went there after my brain hemorrhaged, I lost my memory and suffered from 72hr amnesias and was treated so badly that my friend who takes care of me currently, had to come and remove me due to the inexcusable way they treated me. Another time I had to threaten a law suit over basic health needs, just to get a specialist to see me about treatment options. They’ve only 3-5 wheelchairs in the building and to use them you have to wait a long time to even get the possibility to see one, and then you have to leave photo ID to use it. The rooms are dirty, and the cleaners are very poor at their job. I left a stain on my bedsheet and mess on a tile in my room to see how long it would take to get cleaned: the floor took 3days and I had to mention multiple times over the next 2 days to get them to swap out the sheets after already waiting 2 days prior. When I’m in urgent care, I ask for anywhere but there —if I’m consciously able.
Most of their ER staff are nice & efficient! Yet the wait times here are quite horrendous!
Great Care ! But the waiting rooms in the ER was Horrible and scary!
I'm grateful to the staff, management and government for making this provision for our wellbeing and also want to use this medium to advise people to learn how to appreciate, support and contribute to our community with positive words. In some part of the world people are dying and starving for water.
Friendly stuff
**update: DO NOT GO HERE there are so many cases of neglect its heart breaking. Another story was brought to my attention about a man suffering a stroke. He was mistreated, neglected, was in so much pain but couldnt communicate. No one moved him. He had bedsores and infections. He died from complications. SHUT DOWN THIS HOSPITAL. WHAT KIND OF FACILITY IS THIS!!** The neglect at this place is insanely high. I know a personal situation of neglect that caused death to a person who was not ill. Then reading the possible 140 preg women who might have gotten an std from unsanitized equipment. A person was put in a room with blood splatter. Either you need to do some serious rehiring and training. Get rid of all your terrible staff or shut the hospital down. I havent heard or had a good experience from this hospital in a very long time.
I went to the ER a week after I had my baby girl. The wait time was not bad and the staff were so sensitive to my problems. The doctor himself gave me a chair and a blanket to put up my what felt like 200 pounds legs from pregnancy. The doctor did can you believe it! And two nurses were always checking on me and one nurse asked if I breast feed. I said I do. She said “oh mama you must be in pain. Do you want me to get you breast bump?” Hospitals got best breast pumps and I was looking for one like that for a week. And all I could say was “yes please!” She got me the pump and another blanket. I was sitting on my comfy chair when I heard a man ask a nurse when he is going home. She replied to say in the morning and used his name. I realized after this man asks this same question every five minute. And every time one of the nurses answer him “in the morning, so and so. Please sleep for now “. And he did have a bed. But I was wondering the patience these nurses have to reply so calmly and gently to this man that is asking same questions every five minutes. Royal Alex nurses and doctors, thank you so much for all you do. You are fantastic!
NICU was incredible. ER, left lots to be desired
NICU was incredible. ER, left lots to be desired
good care
I haven’t seen a dirtiest hospital in my life.
Amazing prenatal, labor & delivery and postnatal!! NICU is amazing and I feel very safe staying here with my baby. Everyone is so helpful and keep you in the loop. Such an amazing hospital to have a baby in.
The best hospital staff probably in the whole world. Every one from the nurses and doctors were really caring. They made my first experience in labour very manageable despite the pain i was going through. My family and I are very grateful! God bless and keep it up.
A doctor here told me there is no one on Earth who needs medication to live. Eff this place
not cleaned place, saw few people smoking weed outside
Very professional personnel. They are patient and respectful. Nurses and doctors listen to all words carefully, take time and explain everything in details.
They killed my auntie. They gave the wrong results which is the cause of her death. They gave her lots of medicines because of the results to the point where her liver have failed but the results are opposite. Example are she doesn’t have pneumonia but they said she had so they gave her medicines that’s pneumonia and they ask a consent from her but they should not suppose to ask her because she is ill!!! They should’ve ask consent from one of the members of the family but they didn’t. She told us before she died that they asked her something but she just agreee but she said she didn’t understand it. Their service are not gooood
No words are enough to say thank you to the amazing NICU staffs, nurses, and doctors at Royal Alex Hospital. You all made sure that we were comfortable during our stay, we really appreciate your mighty show of warm. Thank you so much for taking care of us by teaching all the things we have to do for our baby, giving emotional support, and taking care of our baby girl. You are all truly the real heroes. Remain blessed ????
I am very happy with the staff that made my day on the Cardiac Unit. They were all really good, but one really stood out. I feel terrible her name slips me right now, but the nurse from Neerlandia left before I got a chance to tell her how much I appreciated her today. Thank you for your upbeat, honest personality! You are a doll and they are lucky to have such a good RN like you working on their floor! Thank you for all the information you gave me to help curb my anxiety. Good luck in your future and may you be blessed richly!
I feel sorry to say that but every time we come here and we have an appointment we have to wait for more than tow hours . So it doesn't make since you have an appointment and you need to wait.
The emergency department of Royal Alex should not be called ER because they want their patients to wait forever. My wife have 185 over 101 BP but instead of providing immediate care, they just kept us waiting for 4 hours until we decided to just move out from the hospital. This was really unfortunate and disappointing experience from a government service.
Horrible experiences at the eye clinic. Expect to be waiting hours past any appointment you were given.
Find a better HOSPITAL
Loved it
Wonderful staff. Very helpful.
Horrible customer service on phone and in person. Got called a spoiled brat over the phone and hung up on while trying to get a new birth certificate, last year got sent home for being ‘over dramatic’ about period pain.. my appendix nearly ruptured. 0/10 this hospital has turned into a pathetic inner city hospital with inner city views. More concerned about the idiots who continuously OD then helping actual people in need.
Run down hospital, most staff are disrespectful and lots of sketchy people .
I can't say enough about the staff and level of care here.
Horrible experience as a senior. Stay away. Crowded hallways, fire codes ignored, could not get proper med, food, or test results. Some staff snotty, arrogant attending physician would not leave my room. I had to get dressed and walk out of hospital. Left worse than when I went in. No accountability.
Overall awesome care. There are some bad nurses and doctors, but those exist everywhere.
All of the laboratory staff are great!!
February 2021 5 ☆ rating A big thank you to EMS responder Ashley and her 2 male colleagues who attended to me on my way to the hospital. They're such excellent caregivers and so impressed with their professionalism and utmost care and personalized attention. I felt well cared for the whole time I was in the emergency van all the way to the emergency room. Ashley stayed with me and checked for vital signs until a room was made available and that's when nurse Genevieve took over. A big thank you to nurse Genevieve who attended and cared for me while I was at the emergency room due to food poisoning. Also to Dr. Fischer who checked on my vital signs during my stay. Genevieve and Dr. Fischer were such phenomenal caregiver and I'm glad I was brought in to this hospital. Today, I'm feeling well and back to normalcy. Note: To management, kindly send my deepest appreciation to nurse Genevieve and Dr. Fischer for their dedication to their chosen profession. My PT# 015690902/004 RAGH 2019 4 ☆ rating Here at pre-admission clinic for my sibling and under the care of by nurse Katrina, Jillian, who took EKG, Dr. Rai, Dr. Newman, such wonderful friendly caring staff. Thank you so much for making my brother comfortable during our visit. PS: it would have been a 5 ☆ rating if not for the expensive parking in which I had paid $12 ($6 the first time, $6 the 2nd time to add more hours).
Went for stitches at 1 a.m. and there was no doctors in the ER from 3 a.m. onwards. edit: 8 ppl here in the er still no doctors it's 6:43 a.m. Edit 2: 7:25 still no doctors in the ER
This hospital has employed my best friend for over 30 years! I have a great respect for this hospital, and the care it takes of its patients. I've had several family members all receive good care from this hospital.
Ended up in er after diving off my bike onto pavement, face first. EMS technicians were wonderfull, ER admission staff was wonderful, resident named Pete and doctor name Warren, made my painful experience rather fun and did their best to fix me up. All the staff was beyond helpful and super friendly, even with all the pandemic on their hands. A big shout to Alberta doctors and nurses, you guys rock!
If you’re coming in here for an emergency, better go find another hospital because this place has no consideration and they will just waste your time. I got here at lunch and I came out at night and all that time was spent just waiting in the lobby. This place aint worth it for your check up or emergency needs trust me this place will literally kill you. Also staff here are very rude
I give this hospital a better rating but for a government (correct me if I'm wrong) funded hospital. Why am I required to pay for parking to visit a patient?
Very rude staff And the peace officers there are very very disrespectful If there was a option to give zero I would
Great Hospital and awesome staff, they are very helpful
Very professional.
The entire place needs a lesson in communication. Seems their favorite thing to do is put you on hold and forget about you.
Professional friendly nurse
Good doctors and caring pleasant nurses and staff, abit rushed sometimes but that's to be expected
Good bless unit
It was very bad experience ???? on hospital, mellanosca anna pediatrician 2E 66 room suppose to come on 12 nov Thursday to discharge not show up and Friday also not show up ,and even Saturday also not show up but the duty chat it self showing its arrival all ,its totally stress for us ,nurses all supporting us ,Saturday dr Patric came she was nice ,what ever the did end of the day we have very bad ???? experience ,bcz of pediatrician there is no coordination with nurse and dr no arrival time period ,other than priya patel she was good rest all team was good ,plz fix this kind of issue ,we all the way drive from west mall almost 25k away ,bcz we had u guys do best service ,all.are good expect the pediatrician I am so much street out ,if do further info feel free conduct me ,thx .
6 hour wait for a sprained knee. Moved to the examination room just to sit and wait for another hour and a half.
They helped me out and braced my leg and gone withen 3 half days later
Great staff great facility
Carried into the ER. They took one look at me and the Doctor admitted me right away. Started me on a I V. Did a blood work up. Administered morphine. Four days later I started to come around in the ICU. I'd been living with attacks for years. Always sent home from the various ER'S and Clinic's told that what I had was a digestion problem. What I was diagnosed with at the ALEX, was Acute, Chronic Pancreatitis. It became a major issue after I was prescribed a medication to control the dispensing of insulin from my pancreas. I get severe attacks a few times a year. At least I know what I'm dealing with. It's recommend that I visit ER immediately at the onset of an attack. I'm grateful for the treatment and diagnosis by the staff at the ALEX, from the ER, to the units where I was sent to recover. I was treated professionally and spoke to with compassion and understanding by most. The thing I'm most greatful for is the attending Physician at the ER, the day I was admitted.
It is staffed with quality and knowledgeable nurses and doctors.
comprehensive care, compassion, professional courtesy and high value on ethics.
I was suicidal so I dragged myself to emerge and they made it all about my living situation. After 24 years of battling with this and just getting worse I have lost all faith in the health care system. Will have to fight the demons my way.
I have never seen nurses miss treat patients so horrible before. The ER is a sad joke. I regret even stepping foot into this place.
Absolutely horrible. The emergency room is absolutely useless. If you're dying, you're in for a 9 hour wait. They need more staff.
Great staff really took care of my uncle awesome job.
Worst hospital- the staff is racist and rude ! Unorganized and the line ups are horrific !!! Please choose to go elsewhere you will end up leaving in worst condition than you came.
Our nurse was a terrible and uncompassionate woman. She cussed out my friend with liver failure regularly through our stay here and when there was an accident she turned to us (the visitors) and said "so are you going to clean this sh*t up?". Staff didn't listen to our complaints and a phone call to customer service did nothing as they promised to call back and this was 3 months ago. Red long hair, shorter and Caucasian. Stay away from her. Shouldn't be a nurse if you can't handle taking care of people. That's your job.
Even the emergency, waiting for hours.
The ICU unit has been amazing. They have done everything to reassure my family and try to help make sure we are taken care of even though the COVID restrictions were making things very hard for everyone. They were very kind. The night doctor watching my dad's care even spoke to his sister in Australia who is a doctor in training and wanted to be able to confirm his condition. They were extremely professional and my whole family felt he was receving good care even as far as Australia. Thank you.
Sad reading some people's comment on how they had to wait for care.....guess they feel the medical professionals made a mistake by treating other patients with far worse injuries than their own. And then the comments about doctors suggesting medical procedures that they don't want, like a c-section..... guess those patients know better than the actual healthcare providers who have years and decades of experience. smh, just a bunch of selfish, ignorant individuals. Here's a solution, stay away if you don't want to hear our do what the nurses and doctors tell you.
At radiology at imaging staff is professional and trying to expedite and honor your appointment time
My name is Gabriel the Piano Mover. Seperated my left bicept from the tendon on a piano related incident. The Awesome Staff and Medical personnel at the Royal Alexander fixed me up but good. Thanks Guys and Gals!
Characterized by extremely long waits, waiting alongside drunks, and dismissive doctors. I had a bad time.
Had a piece of metal lodged in my eye. The general doctor on call at 1AM was able to remove the debris and the wait to get in was not that long. No problems, thanks for saving me from severe pain and potentially losing my eye.
Worst experience I've ever had. Called labor and delivery in advance, once I arrived at the hospital they told me to park out front at the glass doors or Robinson, I got screened and directed to labor and delivery. The nurses treated me awful, I wasn't aloud a pillow, I wasn't aloud to eat even though I wasn't in active delivery. And to see a doctor as I couldn't walk took over six hours, after that I was offered Tylenol for pain. I fell down stairs on ice and bruised/sprained my hip, possibly fractured and yet I wasn't aloud a pillow for comfort. I won't be going back to this hospital and recommend if you are going to have a baby to go to sturgeon hospital in st Albert. Not royal Alex.
This Hospital is clean. Staffs are smart! When they check on my daughter-in-law, she was just 1cm. They want her to go home and come back around 6:00pm. Since my daughter-in-law seems hesitant to do so, obviously, they gave her an option to walk around the hallways/stairs back and forth for two hours. After 2 hrs of walking, she was 4 cm. They decided to keep her in one of the labor rooms. My grandson was born at4:30 pm.
I want to take a moment to share this appreciation for the professional and caring Staff at this wonderful CCU @Royal Alexandria! I turned 65 yesterday because of the quick attendance and health care given to me upon my arrival there on September 1st this year, 2021. Had it not been for the awesome and immediate emergency care from them and the Bonnyville hospital, things would've been different for myself and my Family. Thanking All of You folks for everything and I'm very grateful! Ron A. Hamer
Intake/triage is such a confusing process here. Slows the whole process down. Everyone walking around is confused where to go. No room to sit let alone stand.
I was in alot of pain probably 7 months ago and needed to see a doctor. Came after work so I arrived at 8pm and waited till 3am to see a doctor. The nurse that checked me in had red hair and after hours of waiting and asking her to see a doctor, she felt it was more acceptable to talk to colleagues and laugh and joke with other nurses out loud when you have a hunch of sick patience in the waiting room listening at 2 am on a tuesday night when people have school and work
Chad
They took good care of my Aunt when she was fighting cancer
I wouldn’t even give this hospital 1 star, the staff are extremely rude! I was trying to ask a nurse in emergency a question and she kept talking over my voice saying “the dr will see you when he sees you” over and over again and I’m not even the one seeing the doctor I was trying to ask a question and the nurse wouldn’t even let me talk or give me a chance to ask it.
Verry verry professional service and friendly staffs thanks you so much from the bottom of our hearts flo and husband dan
This hospital is a joke. Everyone always says Grey nuns hospital will kill you, royal alex is the best. I'd rather go to Grey nuns. They might actually treat people.
People need to get off their high horse, we're all trying to get by and they're doing their job. Had to wait a few days with a life threatening injury, but I was stable. Others, not so much. There's a lot of people that go to royal Alex, so keep this in mind. Imagine doing the job of whoever your complaining about. No ones perfect, some better then others. Ultimatly saved my life, 8/10 nurses were compassionate, excellent food. Surgery crew was rough, again imagine having to do what they do all day long. 4/5 stars because they didn't update my meds after surgery. 9/10 on the pain scale for about an hour because of that and the dressing was too loose causing 8-7/10 pain for a couple days. I feel blessed to be alive. Thank you everyone at Royal Alex. ????
Dirty hospital and nurses and staff are not the most helpful, discharge process took nearly 4 hours..
This review is only related to the cataract day surgery unit in the basement of the hospital. My mom had to have eye surgery here, and from the first nurse we came into connect with, we were treated in a friendly considerate way. Don't remember all the nurses names, but thank you to Claire the RN in the second area, who explained everything, wasn't rushed and was kind and friendly and helped create a calming environment. All the way up to the anesthesiologist who explained and answered the questions I had. Finally the excellent ophthalmologist surgeon, Dr Chan who I found to be an extremely talented doctor who was also humble, and minus a big ego, that I have seen in a few others. So even though I agree this hospital is in desperate need of repairs as are many others, there is some health care staff there that are truly wonderful. Many thanks.
If you have mental health problems and need help asap go to the U of A instead. And if you have to go to the Alec speak to the nurses station and not the security staff.
I was ill with the flu early this year and went into the ER. I agree the wait time is long but that is because of busy doctors or staff. Lots of people coming in etc. But when I was treated, the nurses were extremely kind and Dr. Taryn Brown reassured me that I was ok after analyzing my blood samples. I know all the trouble these people go through to make sure we are healthy and I try to be respectful even when I am in a bad mood. I wish more patients showed the same amount of respect. :( Thanks so much! :)
I have been treated well with Doctor and staff . They are very good . Thank you .
Was transferred here from another hospital, I recieved wonderful care from all staff, just as I did from NECHC. Had specialized scans scheduled for 9am, moved to 1pm and then moved again to 3pm. Things happen, it's a busy hospital, I was already admitted at NECHC and transferred by ambulance to Royal Alex, so it's not like I had somewhere to be, I was stable and doing okay at that time. I could hear over the intercom that the trauma rooms were filling up and patients had coded, so in comparison to that, I had no issue waiting an extra 6 hours for my scans and tests. All of the staff were compassionate and patient during my stay and I am grateful for the care I recieved.
I went here cause i was having chest pain and they made me wait, it was agonizing. I waited 4 hours in pain well a doctor stood there and flurted with a nurse. Doctors need to have managers there aswell to delegate better unless they are honest and truthful doctors. I ended up leaving in pain and drove to UofA turns out i was having a angina attack. Thanks royal alex
I'll start from the beginning. I delivered my daughter at the Royal Alex and the care I received was amazing! The same nurse stayed with me from start to finish and both my mom and I loved her! Fast forward 12 years. I took my daughter to emerg because this was the closest hospital. Since she was little she has had chronic ear infections and it was apparent that's what she was suffering from. She also had a lump under her right ear lobe which had never happened before .After waiting hours, and her literally screaming in pain, she was finally scene and indeed it was an ear infection. The lump, however, was suppose to be just an infected gland and I was told not to worry about it. She was given antibiotics and we were sent on our way. After 2 weeks of antibiotics and her feeling a bit better this lump was still there and had gotten bigger, I took her back to this emerg because I knew something wasn't right. Again I was told it was an infected gland and given more antibiotics. The following week I took her directly to my gp who then sent me to a pediatric surgeon. At that time I was informed that it was infact a tumor in her parotid gland! I was also informed that the surgeon was familiar with this type of tumor but had never seen one in a child as young as her so we were sent to an adult surgeon. So after being misdiagnosed twice and given more antibiotics that she didn't need and the Alex, she had the tumor removed by 2 surgeons at the University Hospital that were amazing and acted very quickly. Another time I took her there because of an ear infection again when she was around 5 years old, we were put in a room that definitely was not cleaned! Not sure what happened before we got there (and I don't want to know) but it was still covered in blood! I try to avoid this hospital at all costs and haven't been back since.
I had my first child there. Doctor Patel treated me unfairly. I was crying the whole time during labour because of the words she was saying to me. After delivery, one of the nurses told my husband the baby came with her hands up. I still don't understand why the doctor was telling me to push until I was exhausted if the baby came like that. I felt lonely and helpless. I wished my mom was there. Unfortunately, she couldn't travel because of covid. Finally, they use forceps which was terrible. All the nurses were nice.
From the ambulance attendants, nurses, cleaning staff, and the surgeons, the experience was professional, and compassionate. Best place to be when a person is injured and require immediate care. Thank you so much.
I can’t believe how bad our experience was at this hospital. The wait times are horrendous, there is constant miscommunication. Most of the nurses were great but every doctor was vacant and truly did not seem to care. My fiancé fell into a pain crisis because Dr. Tenkel doesn’t read his paperwork. His own nurses were throwing him under the bus and apologizing for his ignorance. We were told conflicting information the whole time. We even had to wait to be discharged for almost an entire day waiting for a blood test that was deemed unnecessary after waiting for it for so long. What an absolute gong show.
Wonderful staff at the hospital, was in for day surgery, and they truly make sure you are as comfortable as possible. Very happy with my experience.
Had surgery there 4 weeks ago. The nurses and all the staff were amazing!
We had an appointment here this morning in the orthopedic Department. The doctor evaluating us was the rudest person I have ever I encountered. The rooms they place you in are cloth walls, so you can hear everything being said and done in the other appointments. Right from the beginning this doctor was exceptionally rude to the clients before us. He cuts people off while they attempt to give a history. He is constantly explaining that he is a doctor and smarter than everyone else in the room. He appears to have his diagnoses and mind made up before entering the room. Finally when he came into our appointment it was even worse than anticipated. He kicked us “visitors” out due to covid policies. Now this I am fine with but he acted like we broke in and we’re deliberately breaking the rules. All hospital staff we encountered before him (receptionist, nurses) allowed us in. Even gave us name tags. This doctor forced us from the room and then wouldn’t even show us how to leave. Decided to belittle his staff in front of us and leave us standing in the middle Of the nurses station. He is rude, considering and not a doctor I would ever recommend to anyone. Yes sir you are a doctor but bedside manner is important to. I personally have a medical background and he needs to recognize who he is talking to. Could be the best doctor in the world but I don’t trust anyone who talks to people that way. I think he needs to go back to school and learn some humility.
good and accessible older hospital in the city
Lovely staff
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! I would put negative stars if I could. The nurses we dealt with in emergency A wing and on 4th floor Station 44 were incredibly rude, unhelpful, and demeaning. It was so bad I was afraid to ask questions or even for a blanket after a while because I didn’t want my loved one to go without care if I got on their nerves. They made it very clear they did not like that I was staying with my family member and made it very clear I would not be accommodated. Even as far as giving me nothing but two chairs to push together to sleep on. We had to ask several times for basic things such as pillows or beds, we spent 42 hours in emergency after being “admitted” and given very little information as to when that could change or what was happening. Same with when we would be transferred back to our home town and not given any updates until we became annoying from asking so much. And when questions did get answered we were made very clear how inconvenient it was for them to have to take the time to clarify things for us. It is impossible to find someone to help if a machine is beeping and they dont answer the bells for long periods of time. If you like fearing for your loved ones health while being treated horribly by medical “professionals” then this is the place for you! I am not one to cause a fuss normally but I have taken down the names of the nurses who have been assigned to us and fully intend on speaking to every higher up I can possibly contact because I cannot fathom sitting back and allowing the horrendous experience we have endured happen to another family. Please for the sake of your loved ones health and your sanity DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. This place lacks compassion in every corner. Please think twice before stepping foot through the doors.
To say this place has poor scheduling would be the understatement of the century. If you're pregnant and are waiting on an ultrasound be prepared to wait 3+ hours as this has happened to us multiple times here now.
Very unprofessional only came in an Ambulance????????
I waited 3 hours for stitches in emergency with nearly no one in and I still never got them after waiting. This hospital experience was beyond the worst I've ever experienced.
Unreal my partner went through triage this morning at 11:00 am and it is 6:40 pm he still has not been seen by a doctor. I called patient information line and they said he was discharged at 2:30 pm today while he is still sitting in the emergency suffering with no attention from anyone. This type of thing does not happen in third world country.
Saved my Life!
I was in outpatient for a bronchospy, the team was amazing.. Brittany you rule, have fun in Mexico..
Very Professional and courteous. I have never received better care. Probably because I immigrated from Onterrible where they don't care. Thanks
As a city center hospital the Royal Alex deals with huge volumes of emergencies a day. So if what you have is not an emergency, I suggest you do not go there. If it is an emergency, than it is the place to be.
Appointments always hours late
This hospital is the worse place ever!! Not only is it allways filled with criminals in handcuffs homeless people and drunks the staff and doctors are so mean.. I went there with sever pain from kidney stones I registered sat down and about an hr later I went up to ask the nurse for some assistance because of the way I was feeling she right away got extremely rude and told me if I didn't like it I could leave I said I am just asking for help and she had the nerve to bring my children into it by saying how can a mom act like this in front of her kids (who where with me because me and my hubby have no family here to help and he didn't want me left alone) we left went to the gray nuns and was admitted right away because of the pain from the kidney stones.. I will never forget that things face and trust me our paths will cross again someday.. please people trust me and the others on here do not go to this nasty dirty stinky hospital!!!
Worst er I have ever been too. Had a seizure when I walked in and somehow got admitted to their psych ward. I couldn't talk properly and couldn't understand what people were saying for 30 minutes as well as having multiple seizures before getting there. They sent me home without any testing and gave me anxiety meds. They also spoke down to me and told me I wouldn't see a psychiatrist, I didn't even want to see their psychiatrist. I wanted a brain scan! Went to see my family doctor who is getting me CT scan, thanks for nothing and wasting my time.
I feel sorry for any old patients that are in this hospital. They hate old people. Very rude and get mad when you ask about your suffering family member. Zero respect from the doctor. She is not interested in his pain. Perhaps it is different where they came from and they hope the elder dies soon. I have spoken with other visitors about their families and they say the same.
The doctors and nurses in the er were absolutely wonderful. They took great care and were very thougrough. Regret not thanking them properly. The er wait times are a little ridiculous for sure but once you're in its fine, mind you you will still wait a lot. But they have the specialists so that's great.
If I could give it a zero star rating I would.... worst hospital ever. Rude ignorant incompetent people I take my 19 month old son to to the emergency at 3:40 in the morning because he rolled off the bed and hit his head and it swelled up and I've been waiting for over 4 hours and still waiting... I'm waiting with my mother as well and when the cleaning people came by to clean they used strong cleaning chemicals and my mother had an asthma attack and allergic reaction. Not even an hour later another cleaner comes by and this time we asked her not to come around that my mother will have an asthma attack and allergic reaction....well the cleaner said well I will just go around over here. Told her it's the same area ur right beside she didnt care and did it anyways and again my mother had an asthma attack and allergic reaction in the emergency area and all they have to say for them selfies is that well the hospital needs to be cleaned yeah get that but its supposed to unscented stuff not strong chemicals in a hospital this is ridiculous. And they think it's funny laughing behind the counter about it.
worst hospital evern pregnant women bleeding and said she had to wait 5 hours to be seems what a shame what a staff and what kind of service is this! shame on you Edmonton
You expect us to pay to park? Yet there are no signs as to where to pay... I had a ultrasound appointment for 8 am May 22nd As of 8:30, still nothing.. I have been holding 1L of water in my pregnant bladder for over an hour and a half. Not to mention the disgusting smelling 'waiting room' I had to go to be admitted into the hospital. Full of people that have pissed themselves, smell like rotting food. Great place to come being pregnant, hope they won't mind cleaning up my vomit. And this is why I am an advocate for midwives, this is a disgusting setting to come into being pregnant, I feel like I need to go bathe in bleach just to feel clean.
Wife's been in the pregnancy ward with kidney infections and premature pregnancy water breaking. The constant changing nurses take it upon themselves to decide what to follow on medication scedule and when they want too. Despite reminders of allergies, have encountered deadly situations more than once including peanut butter coming in on food tray when its been clearly defined her allergies. Even doctors using latex gloves because nobody seems to read charts. The other patients we've shared rooms with have been 6/7 completely disrespectful to sharing the room and had to make complaints multplie times to have anything done. Wish there was somewhere else we could go with a premature pregnancy because we would.
The waiting time is not so bad for emergency room but it can be a bit cleaner. The staffs and nurses are very nice and helpful and the doctor is caring.
To anybody who is going for treatment: Don't even think about it. Not only is the staff rude, but they are incompotent as well! When an aquaintance of mine went in to have emergency surgery, because his left leg was crushed by a filing cabinet, they didn't even bother even looking at him for his fourteen hour wait, and once they did get to him, they amputated his leg... his right leg, which was the good one. It's a staff made completely out of dumbshits, the doctors shouldn't even gotten their degrees. And another experience somebody I knew had, he got shot by a man with a bow and arrows, and he died in the waiting room after ten hours of waiting, begging to see a doctor. Of course, the person with a broken nose is a bigger priority than a person who has an arrow in his kidney. But he got there two hours before the guy with the broken nose, and they looked at the person who wasn't going to die if he wasn't treated! I wouldn't even give them one star if I could, a nurse shoved me into a wall when I was last there, and it just broke my ribs even more!
Took my mentaly ill son into emergency . On Tuesday morning. He was completely delugional and suicidal. After a very long wait he saw a dr. We left him there in their care. In the middle of the night I had a dr. calling me concerned with his behavior and asking me all sorts of questions. Thursday a.m. I have a nurse calling me saying he has exhibited no abnormal behavior and that they are releasing him., PLEASE stop wasting money advertising on t.v. that we, the public, need to be aware of and offer help to people with mental illness and then when we do we are told to go home and take care of them ourselves. My husband and I are 77 and 70 yrs old respectively, we have our own health issues, You are supposed to be the professionals who take care of people like my son. If he should harm himself or anyone else I will hold the Royal Alec and the Alberta government personally responsible. I WILL BE IN TOUCH WITH EVERY NEWS AGENCY I CAN TO LET THE PUBLIC KNOW HOW WE, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY OUR SON, HAVE BEEN LET DOWN!
Third world treatment in a 1st world country hospital wait times are a joke in the winter with 30 homeless people showing up for no reason making actual sick people wait while doctors sit behind a desk telling jokes for a hour about the "disgusting homeless people" send them to Alberta hospital get them help and do your dam job. Alberta healthcare system is a joke. I know that for dam sure bring in private healthcare so people get treated with respect and dignity.
Horrible bed side manner, nurses are rude. Wait times to get information is ridiculous staff needs to be put in patience position to learn compassion!
Had some fantastic nurses and some not so great. They know there job alright but have terrible interpersonal skills. Treated like just another body. There is very little food here. Plan to bring your own, especially if you are here for a few days. Some of the bathrooms are consistently dirty and hard to find. The main areas are grubby. Don’t see too many cleaning folks around.
In emerg and unit 32. Hip replacement. Wonderful caring people.
Had to come to the Royal Alex for an ultrasound at 23 weeks. All the staff were amazing, however, trying to navigate your way through this building is a nightmare. This hospital is a literal maze, making the trek through the building incredibly stressful. I want to thank one lady in particular, Lori from the womans clinic. She walked me to my second appointment that day and ensured to have someone would walk with me back to the womans clinic so I didn't get lost again. I am beyond greatful for her kindness. 5 starts for Lori!
If I could rate this -5 I would. My Wife's mom had a massive stroke and was transferred to this hospital. And where to start from here. The neglect and mistreatment from the nursing staff and nurse aids is staggering. I'm not saying it's all of them but about 9/10 of them. They tell you to pee in a bed pan and ask for help. But if you push the call button it's an average about a 30 min to 45 min wait. So she would go in a diaper. And if you ask to get changed so you don't have to sit in your own waste it's about a 1 hour and 45 min wait. Now if this was a busy place I would understand. But on many occasions when went to check up on the situation. And we find them giggling with each other and on their phones. one of the nurses even told my mother in law that she is abusing the nurses for asking to be changed so often. My wife is there for 6 hours a day because if she is not this is the treatment that happenes. And as soon as she leaves. It's back to the norm. Aside from this she has a feed tube line that gets washed once a week when it's supposed to be a daily clean. If my wife was not there daily she would never be washed cleaned changed and who knows what else. If someone you love is in need of constant care and supervision, stay as far away from this hospital As You can. Keep in mind this is just the tip of the iceberg I'm telling you about.
Dont go there I want to give it a negative rating but won't let me awful after my house passed away they phoned me and told me I need.to take care of things and it wasn't there job how do you sleep at.
Bariatric Clinic is very welcoming
My cousin was admitted through emergency and passed away two days later in a palliative bed. As traumatic as that experience was, each member of the hospital staff could not have been better. From their professionalism to their compassion I am so happy that it was Royal Alexandra who looked after her. She could not have been in better hands. Thank you.
Honestly I had a bad experience not only when I came to deliver my baby and then again today! I got turned away when I went to see my husband at emergency while they let white families go in and even sit at the waiting area. My husband couldn't do stuff for himself and all he wanted was to go to the bathroom and they wouldn't even let me wheel him to the bathroom. I stayed outside the emergency for half an hour saw people leave and went back to ask if it was okay for me to go in and they still turned me away. All my /my husbands efforts to reason with them were not heard or fullfilled. I was not asked not even one covid related question. I feel very frustrated at the experience I've had not once but twice.
There always very busy there
I was wheeled to emergency room in B6 on 7 th February 2021 early morning, where I was well treated and given the best care by the doctor and the nurses there. I missed the male doctor's name who took care of me. Thank you very much to the nurse Megan and Valerie. They both had made my short stay comfortable, supported me emotionally and often checked if I'm good. I felt I'm in good hands. My prayers to all nurses and doctors there. May God bless you all. The staff in ultrasound room was equally good and professional. Ensured if I'm good while I was there. Thank you very much to you too. May god bless you To the paramedic EMS team My sincere thanks to paramedic who took me to the hospital on that day , Genevieve and Jessica. I was ensured im comfortable, warm , safe throughout from my house to the emergency room B6. God bless you both.
People may say different stuff about this hospital, but I truly believe that it depends on what kind of staff you get. My personal experience with them was great! I came in in February for the delivery of my son and was wowed by the professionalism, compassion and attitude of nurses. Prelabor room was not impressive though, I got "either get induced and deliver or go home, we have no room to waste" treatment which would not be very nice for anybody let alone a scared first time mom in labor. And it was not the fact (I kinda was expecting to be sent home) but the way the resident on call told me. But as soon as I was transferred to the labor room everything and everybody were amazing. My labor lasted 30 hrs, so I had been helped by 3 sets of nurses - all of them amazing. Cannot thank enough for all the support I got to be able to deliver my baby naturally, with no surgical intervenience. All the nurses made my experience at RAH unforgettable in a good way. Thank you so much!!!
Don't ask for directions from anybody here they are rude and unwilling to help. They'd rather stand around their nursing stations and than be like yup that room is on this floor well yes I know but where. Right side left side. Get off your high horses.
Long wait. Many homeless in tonight. Nurse was very nice and brought my 5 yr old a blanket and apologized for the long wait. Staff was nice. Not much they can do about the wait I suppose.
The pictures make the hospital look fancy but the hospital is very run down... staff isn’t the friendliest either.. if you don’t like your job then you shouldn’t be working at hospital with sick patients!!! on another note the rooms could use a good cleaning!
The "screeners" near the emergency dept are L a z y and powertrippers specially the old man with decaying face and white hair this evening July 4 at 6pm. Too many of them, sitting there all day, just holding their phones pretending to be busy. L A Z Y
I was in emerg and the doc was EXTREAKLY RUDE telling me that it's not his job to be figuring out what's wrong with me that it's my family doctors job to do and she shouldn't have sent me here. And basically told me to leave. I can believe how rude of stuff if there its unreal!
Wednesday Dec.08/2012 from the moment I went to the ER and finally to the surgery every nurse and doctor who helped along my journey, was absolutely amazing. They treat me with such a big compassion and patience Thank you all so very much for everything! Thank you Dr. Katelyn Bacon, Dr. Manuela Pattison Bacon, Dr. Babak Sharifi .Thank you nurse Anna,(52) Ron,(52) Mandy,(22) and more (sorry I don't remember all the names). I appreciate you all so much.GOD bless you !
Triage isn't an easy process in ER, but the staff here consider anything short of a cardiac arrest a minor event. Rude and obnoxious front end (nursing? Administrative?) staff, working in a chaotic and sometimes voient waiting room, they treat all patients as inconveniences to be ignored. Going here is more trauma than treatment.
The psychiatrist dr Rabeeh helped me out in a big way. I am very grateful to him.
horrible experience, smelt bad wouldnt go here unless i had to
Definitely don't want to spend to much time here. Smells pretty bad and patients seem drunk in emergency...
Very long wait times and changed my appointment time and did not send me the papers in the mail. This place is dirty to and no parking and costs a alot also
Worst ER I’ve encountered so far!!!I have numbness for my whole body and chest pain but I didn’t got any treatment because the wait time is 7 hours for an emergency case!!!After 4 hours of wait I decided to go home because I don’t have idea what time they will gonna put me to next available physician and Im not sure if there are physicians working that time, during my 4 hours stay there only 2 patient went inside.I’ve asked some people in the waiting area, they are there since 10 pm and waited for almost 6 hours.I know you are busy but also try to alternate the schedule at least get 1 patient from the emergency waiting area and not to wait 6 to 8 hours. Some people sleeping in the hallway, digging food in the garbage and the waiting area have a stinky smell. It is a hospital it should be clean!
MRI techs never gave my 82 year old mother any headphones to block out the sound of the machine....wth!! They don't deserve any stars let alone the one I have given them!
Thank you to professional staff in the CT scan department of the Royal Alexandra Hospital. You listened were kind and professional. Thank you so much.
Big and beautiful hospital!
I recently had day surgery. Nurse Jackie checked me in and made feel at ease. She was so caring and had a wonderful sense of humour which helped my anxiety. Everyone who cared for me was outstanding. Nurse Rebecca cared for me until I was discharge. At no point was I pushed out the door. She made sure I was 100% before I left. They deserve these 5 stars ⭐️
A trash hospital. If you don’t want to wait for at least 2hours during the most painful time in the emergency waiting room. Just leave. My friend get gout. He even can’t walk. Emergency services tell us that just wait. And I can’t give u specific time. Any clinic that I thought it will be better than here. Trash.
welcome to hell
Waiting is extremly long ????????????????????
Couldn't even find the emergency room.
I didn’t expect the service too much before I went to Royal Alexander Hospital to have my eye surgery under the pandemic situation. All the front line workers should have been exhausted. Amusingly, I had my eye surgery done successfully this morning. I reported to Unit 22 on the second floor of the Active Treatment Centre around 5am. All the staffs I met there including Dr. Carlos Solarte, the receptionists (all way through from Emergency, Main Entrance, unit…), the unit staffs, and the surgery staffs were amusing and very helpful by providing professional care to me. They always greet me with a warm smiles and voice. Dr. Carlos Solarte completed my eye surgery successfully. My double visions problem had improved a lot by noon after the surgery. I know that Dr. Solarte was busy in the morning because a bystander gentleman who assisted me to access the hospital before the hospital door was opened needed to do his emergency eye surgery too. I don’t know how to express my thankfulness in words to all of them. Give them big hands! Much appreciated!
Been I. Here with a asthma attack for 2 hours not a single nurse will give me a puffer to breath. All I need is a Vento line puffer. And instead I'm short of breath taking up a bed that someone else could use
I had a heart attack. The care I recieved was excellent. I'm on the mend and doing well thanks to the Cardio Unit. I am forever grateful.
If I could give it a zero star rating I would.... worst hospital ever. Rude ignorant arrogant staff. Terrible service.
Worst hospital I've ever been to!
Dr Steed a very qualified caring professional to the nurses and other Drs who helped in my care have treated me very well.Their professional and kind service has been much appreciated.
A while ago I came there with an ear infection I was put directly into the psych unit my ear ruptured and I saw a doctor 5 days after admission. Another time I went there with chest pain, I sat in the emergency room for 6 hours waiting to see a doctor turns out I was there to see a shrink and I went home took some Nitro and my heart went back to normal and I went to work the next day. So after years of asking you for medical testing to find out what was physically wrong with my body I finally got the test I need to find out it's too late I'm going to die because I was neglected
I went for spinal surgery not expecting anything but regular care ,what I received was excellent care. From the moment I went for my pre-op to the day of my release. Extremely professional and caring service from those that helped me find where I needed to go, to all the wonderful nurses and support staff and physiotherapist. Thank you for all the great care.
Went in because I cut my thumb down to the bone. I walked in and asked if I needed to get it stitched which they replied I would probably need 8 to 10. After sitting in the waiting room with open wound for three hours I was finally moved to the back where I sat for another hour listening to nurses laughing and talking over at the computer. At this pick I called over one of the nurses and she said that I was fine to go with no stitches complete waste of time
I don’t understand. In any other industry when you have an appointment at set time and and you have to wait another 2 1/2 hours to get into an ultrasound is crazy. Thought this place got there act together after 3 years. Had no curtsy call to let us know there we’re running behind by 1 1/2 hour when we got there.
Good service but long wait time tho
Emergency staff was kind, caring and helpful. Doctors were also kind and informative. Had a cystoscopy done there yesterday and it went great. Thank you Royal Alexandra
Extremely busy place, but once you are taken in you get the best quality of care!
Amazing people here, keep the good work. Thank you for everyone here. Brendan works here with his kindly heart.
I was in the ER yesterday with severe abdominal pain, to the point where I almost passed out at the triage desk. The red headed lady I spoke to was extremely rude and just walked away from me after I handed her a note from a clinic doctor with my symptoms. Then I had to wait about 10 minutes for an older lady to come to the front, and I had to give her all of my information all over again. She sat so far away from me and seemed to get annoyed when I asked her to repeat herself because I couldn’t hear her. Avoid this ER at all costs.
I was a sloppy patient, who missed his appointment. They called me to setup another appointment. They called me again to offer me another appointment with a much closer date. That is good service. Koods to the EEG department.
Not the best
Very unprofessional front end staff , incosiderate and does not listen to patients symptoms.
I had Robotic Prostate Surgery done on Jan 20, 2020 at this hospital. Have to say Dr. Estey was very professional in his explanation of the operation and outstanding bedside manner in keeping in touch post surgery. Also staff in recovery went above and beyond taking care of me. Special thanks to Allan and Monica. Also to nurses on night shift. Hard to remember all the names!!! All were fantastic.
I've worked there for 7 years. Love it. I've worked in 3 different provinces and this hospital has a huge variety of clients that come through. Great stories... Horrible stories. No different than any other hospital in the country. Staff are great and the patients are even better. Love my job as a registered nurse at the royal.
Disgusting hospital that is NOT clean. What is going on in Edmonton? The bathrooms are disgusting THERE WAS A BUG ON THE FLOOR HOW ?! Can you have a dirty hospital when people are sick who come here? There is no staff to help you This hospital could be from a scary movie . Legit . Sad is all it comes down to. The care is just not there anymore.
Staff are garbage, hospital is dirty, and I once waited 12 hours in that waiting room. There is usually 1 or 2 real doctors in the hospital and the rest are nurses. They will let you die in that waiting room it doesn't matter if it's a hospital. It should not be allowed to be called a ER. It is NOT a ER. It is a doctor office that is more busy.
If i could give this hospital a negitive 5stars i would. I wife is curently in the maternity part of the hospital and has been there for over a week! She has had contractions and shows signs of premature labour... REALLY PREMATURE! The nurses have refused to even talk to her, they have insulted her by calling her a drug addict, refused to go and get her food because they are too lazy, refused to call a resident/doctor to go and talk to her even though she is having contractions and is in severe pain with pelvic pressure, they have accused her of being mentally ill and insisted she has anxiety issues and an eating dissorder which is far from the truth! And the list goes on and on! Do not go to this hospital! If its a longer drice for you to get to another one take the chances because this is by far the worst hospital i have ever heard of and been to! If this keeps up then they will have a lawsuit on their hands in the near future.
Very Professional doctors and staff. Care is wonderful. If you have to be hospitalized I would choose Royal Alexander Hospital.
The best hospital in the city highly knowledgeable doctors. Nurses are always caring they always treat you well
The best hospital in the city highly knowledgeable doctors. Nurses are always caring they always treat you well
I appreciate this hospital very much the nursing staff is very dedicated and professional and caring and the doctors are very understanding and thay care about their patients. ..one thing that bothers me is how some patients when checking in at emergency thinking that no matter how sick someone else may be. ..that they should be taken in before that person it is not a first come first serve basis it is done by the severity of the case and if you can understand this you would be a little bit more understanding of your wait time. .....so please remember that they are there to help all of us and please show them respect as they will treat you the same
Royal Alex is quite nice now, even though it is a hospital. Clean, bright easy to get around and clear signage to help you find your way. Masks must be worn at all times. They provide masks when you enter. Easy registration when you get there. And of course excellent medical care.
My wife and I went to the MRI Imaging center this week to get a scan done. The technician who assisted us (Delia) was nothing short of amazing. Professional, courteous, friendly and knowledgeable, she made my wife feel completely comfortable during the prep and procedure - which is no simple task as my wife is a difficult stick for IV and somewhat claustrophobic. Thank you so much for taking such great care of her.
I had a Microdiscectomy yesterday; currently in the process of being released today. The whole experience has been exceptional. The pre-admission appointment I had the week before was just as positive. Everyone I encountered was super friendly; I find most people are if you are. I am leaving very content. Thanks to everyone from Aimee in prep to the nurses to Dr. Quateen. Looking forward to a fully restored life minus the awful pain.
Staff is knowledgeable and kind (if you are not rude/high on drugs/drunk...etc). You have to be tolerant and understand there are more severe cases of injury or illness than yours might be and be patient at ER - but that happens everywhere in the world. Sometimes you wait longer sometimes less. Doctors are well educated and experienced. It is a good hospital. You will pay a lot if you do not have a healthcare card.
Terrible when it comes to mental health...
IM Just want to let people know to never go there m now i cant WALK in a wheelchair thanks to the surgeron
I found myself unexpectedly in The Royal Alex (Lois Hole, 6- East) last weekend. To say I was frightened would be an understatement. I had been brought by ambulance from the Manning Hospital in North Edmonton where staff were wonderful and did their best to keep me from worrying, for a CT Scan as they didnt have a machine there. Because of Covid my husband couldn't come with me or come into the hospital so the fact you are alone makes it so much harder. .The CT Scan was quite an experiene but the results were that I had a blood clot in each of my lungs, which was why I had been so out of breath the previous week. I was terrified and figured I was on my way out. The doctors and nurses were so amazing, so attentive and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. I cannot begin to thank you all for all you did to make me feel so much better. There were so many nurses in and out of my room and each time they had to remove their gowns outside my door and put on a new one one. They have to do so much with regard to Covid protocols you cannot imagiine. I wish I could remember all your names you lovely people but Dr. Chan and Nurses Garrett and David and those whose names I regret not being able to remember, but you know who you are, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are doing an amazing job that I just can't imagine doing every day, especially in this crazy Covid world. You are the absolute best. Thank you, thank you! Sincerely, Christine Scott
Greatness in the staff. And unique smells s Throughout this hospital
Worst staff ever not concerned about patients took my 19 month year old in. She had a fever and troubling breathing. They didn't check her lungs or just temp and heart rate. I asked them to check nope the doctor will. I then asked for a blanket for my daughter they gave her a sheet and said sorry that's all we have back here. I don't recommend this place at all please don't waste your time here go the the u of a.
First I want to say that ER and ICU staff are amazing!! Other than that, this is the WORST hospital I have ever had the misfortune of having my wife at. Day staff in unit 44 where amazing and wonderful, caring people. Night staff...... nurse Jolene, if you can call her a nurse, should not be in a position to care for another human life. I truly mean that. Very rude to patients, actually stirred my wife's tea with her gloved finger because they didn't send plastic cutlery and told my wife "it's okay it clean". I made a report to unit manager Gavin and he said he would take care of it, next night she had the same nurse who then, because I reported her, proceeded to treat my wife even more poorly. If you have a choice of where to go, do not go to this hospital. Very poorly managed. The only saving grace is the all the other wonderful nurses and staff. Big huge shout out to icu nurse Fraser and student nurse Charles. Thank you for your kindness and compassion.
Ihave been admitted in a hospital been there in hospital bed for 7 months , staff are Amazing . Iwas half Dead by that Time but they gave me Hope To live again , they help me well through my stay . What ican say is good Hospital irecomended ⭐️ In this facility and bless all the staff good job guys ! Bless ya all . Written by Abdoul said..
Just had surgery and released the same day. Great experience, the staff was awesome and very informative before and after. Special thanks for Ruth in B-101. Stayed late to assist with my slow recovery. Good job team; Alberta Health Services David Piercey.
Went in feeling sick hour later I coded. Staff took excellent care of me for the two weeks I was there. To all the doctors and nurses thank you for saving my life.
Had an awesome experience in the post recovery word of this hospital after I had lung surgery Dr. Bedard and all the staff I had interaction with were very professional and great to deal with during this difficult time. Made my recover very fast & comfortable. Can't thank you all enough ????
My daughter is in the Royal Alexander hospital now. She has a premature baby and ended up feeling very faint and had a fever. Although she was already under the care of the hospital (recovering from an emergency c-section) they still sent her to the emerency to be processed. It took 9 hours!!!! She was away from her baby that needs her desperately and they took 9 hours to do attend to her. Her infection is serious. And they made it worse by taking soooo long. She was already under their care. It is hard to fathom. Then l called the hospital and got the complete run around. Highly incompetant. Very afraid for her. Don't go to this hospital if you have other options. Seriously!!!!!
Great staff
I spent 61/2 days in ward 34 recovery unit,i had nothing but excellent quality care from all nurses, healthcare aides and physio. No complaints but hope i don't have to go back.
Necessary but not a preference for medical care.
I would just like to say a big thank you to all the doctors, nurses and staff for their excellent care while I was a patient Thanks again Dave Simpson
ER Grey Nun referred to Dr. Toy at Royal Alex OPD. Dr. TOY did a surgery and schedule a visit for next week. So we called Dr office to set up a next week visit but Dr office did not receive any record of surgery and want us to wait.. so passed two weeks
The staff here is great and show their concern for patients and their desire to help those in need. A great place to go to when you have to be in a health situation requiring help and care.
Worst experience ever! Waited 8 hrs!!Came at emergency because i am pregnant and bleeding the people from the admitting area was very nice not until i was brought inside to wait again. After an hour i was brought in the room and waited another hour the dr just told me to wait for the nurse to get a blood test and ultrasound. Then after 20 mins of waiting for a nurse she tried to get a blood test twice but wasnt succesful just left without saying anything andspeak to another nurse to endorse me. They were laughing and talking and i was left there staring at them. And then finally the other nurse saw me and went for me after a minute poke me twice again and finally it right. Back to the waiting room to wait for ultrasound for another 1 1/2 hr porter came and let me walk a long hallway to think that i am bleeding already. Good thing ultrasound department was super caring. I know that being a nurse is a stressfull job but not even a caring face in that emergency room you can see. They never apologize and if you ask something They will answer you in a bad manner. I work in a health care facility too and i know the stress but this department are very unprofessional. No care at all.they shouldn’t be a nurse!!!!
This is the worst hospital I've ever had the misfortune to go to. The staff was terrible, rude and extremely unhelpful. The rules and regulations were so backwards and unsensical that they were causing more harm to the people coming in. My wife sat there in pain for 9 hours while homeless and drug addicts were given priory and I wasn't allowed to sit with her during this whole experience and some of the conversations that my wife overhead from doctors and nurses was shocking and disgusting! We have lost what LITTLE faith we had in this healthcare system and I have lost a lot of respect for the health care workers also, its an embarrassment and they should all be embarrassed and ashamed of themselves and their terrible performance.
I had my Baby two months ago at the Lois women hospital Doctors were great the Nurses are amazing and took really good care of me and my baby. Thank you Nurses and the Doctors
DO NOT HAVE A CHILD HERE!!!!! There was one helpful nurse. The rest are USELESS!!! You ask questions, they dont know... Filled out the birth certificate/health care card info with my last name.... everything came with mothers maiden name. Wife collapsed from iron deficiency about 2 weeks later and we found out they were supposed to take blood before discharge in order to check things like that out... they didn't. EVERYTHING that we have had to do just seems to kick us in the backside due to something this hospital didn't inform us about.
Good...
Just called the Switchboard and the lady was very rude on the phone. I was asking for directions to one of their buildings and she abruptly told me where it was, and then snapped at me because she had 3 calls holding and quickly put me on hold as I needed further instructions. Royal Alex needs to hire more courteous people to handle the switchboard. If she doesn't like her job, maybe McDonalds is hiring.
Emergency staff was very rude People waiting been waiting for hours they don’t care to many nurses but you can’t get help this hospital emergency department look like playground
Have been there 4 times and the staff are really helpful.
The nurses at the delivery ward were expectional.
I had an amazing experience in the department of NICU. The staff were friendly and helpful and I didn’t feel worried about how my child is taken care of. Today is my son’s birthday. He is two years old now. I’m grateful and thankful to all who helped us.
They are not good with scheduling the patients at all. If you have appointment at 9 , don't get there before 10
They treat you very well there but waiting time at emergency can be long and stressful .But doctors and nurse trying to do their best
Had our first child here, everyone was so caring for us. Loved it, thank you staff for the great experience. Update: Some nurses are very inconsiderate at night, they speak so loud with no regards to other moms and babies sleeping.
You get care. Staff are above & beyond all expectations.
In isolation because they have given me MRSA and yet the nurse would is covering for lunch break and another nurse on break are visiting in my room. I would like to sleep. N
Great experience as a first timer. I barely waited to be helped when I checked in. The staff and Dr. Sarah Lousie were all very friendly and helpful. I especially loved how Dr. Sarah really took her time to explain my conditions with me as well as my treatment options. I had a great visit and the doctor’s demeanor has really put me at ease.Dr. Sarah Lousie ( thrombosis clinic)is one of the kindest professional I’ve ever met, she listens, asks the right questions, takes her time and is honest. She made my day. From Pooja Devi ( patient) Thrombosis clinic Appointment date and time: 30 Dec 2021 at 9:00 A.M
Positive note, the wait time wasnt horrible to getting called in and some of the staff were pleasant enough. Everything else fell short. Often left alone for longer then an hour, without being told what was happening. And when I was scheduled for an appointment for the next day, no details were given as to what might take place. As far as I was aware I would just be talking and having my eyes examined. Move forward to the day of, again some of the staff super nice. But no where did anyone inform me that I would be getting my eyes dilated and that meant I wouldnt be able to see well and that it would have been good to have planned for a way to get home afterwards, and that sunglasses would have kept me from getting a severe migraine, due to the sensitivity tonlight. There needs to be better structure, and flow. Also, I get it, I am not a doctor. But performing nearly the same tests two days in a row and then giving the equivalent of shrugging your shoulders at the problem, saying you cant see anything and sending the patient home. Who is still in pain and doesnt know why. Not quite the way a medical establishment should run. Ever.
Thank you for all you do! #Albertaheros
I was terrified to go to emergency after enduring a psychotic episode. Looking back I was treated with kindness and dignity 5 days in emerg and 8 days in hospital Nothing but respect for the staff.
It keep you fed. Nothing more!
I overdosed my first time doing cocaine, and came here. They kept me overnight, the night staff was caring and understood I made a mistake.. I was told I would be able to talk to a councillor in the morning. But instead I was awakend by a mean woman, who ripped my IV out of my arm telling me to get out of the hospital bed. I told her I didn't feel okay to leave, and I didn't have a ride. She told me word for word "maybe you shouldn't overdose next time"..as I was.leaving th hospital I collapsed on the street. And taxi driver helped me and drove me home for free. No compassion at all. It's disgusting.
my husband has been there for 19 hours, after entering into the emergency room and no one is assisting or checking on him. Not even to see if he needs water. Horrible hospital care
Slow as hell...
My Wife had an ultrasound scheduled for 3pm. At 8pm she still was waiting. There are 4 other women in front of her. While waiting they saw mice in the waiting room. Unreal. There is mice in an Alberta hospital!!! This is not a 3rd world country, or maybe it is. Horrible, disgusting place.
Rude staff dirty hospital
If you don't mind all your personal details being heard by everyone around you it's fine. If you believe it should be private as the law says we'll don't go here, because everyone will hear everything, have spent the last 30 mins listening to the interview with a minor who does self harm
Long long wait
We wanted to stay there for my husband but the nurse said no only in private rooms you can so I asked her if I could get one She said no the room are for critical patients so I guess my husband has to be dying for me to be there I don't live there He came to the city in ambulance on IV and when he got there the ambulance driver give a bag of his medication to the hospital and when I asked the nurses where they were they lost a bag they took them off IV and he's been sick ever since no penicillin for his infection for hours and I went and asked and they didn't even know what was going on I think this is the worst hospital I ever been in I believe there's good parts in the city doctors but there is also bad parts when you're in a small town it's like the nurses take care of you more
My sister was taken to RAH emergency and then taken up to ICU after a tragic accident the nurses and doctors there were very compassionate and kind I have nothing but thank yous to say to them. It was a horrible situation and even though the outcome was death I am very grateful ???? she was at the Royal Alex.

Went here once for severe face pain on the left side of my face. The dentists told me I should go there as they couldn't track the issue. I waited 6 hours before seeing a doctor. Once I finally did see a doctor they did nothing and referred me to a neurosurgeon. It's been 6 weeks and still no phone call from that surgeon. Made the mistake of going there two days ago due to severe chest pain, it wasn't as bad as I waited only 4 hours, But still 4 hours for chest pain that's radiating around your entire upper body should be faster. Finally after about 4 more hours I was in a goun, had blood work, and a xray laying in a bed. I ended up sitting there for about 8 hours while they pumped my IV with drugs until seeing the doctor who told me I have Gerd and to make a appointment with my doctor then leaves without another word. Then a nurse came in and said I'm going home and got me ready to go. It was a complete waste of time all times I have been there, and trust me if you are dying don't go there. Drive the extra little bit to the University, or another hospital. They are all better (Accept the Misecordia).
Get rid of the methadone clinic and put security / sheriffs at the front doors
Uncompassionate People and Nurses. They don't take it seriously your condition in emergency. Unless you are dying, You will get to see the doctor if not, they will let you die in waiting area.
Very bad place my sister was in this hospital as a mental patient, And she was never violent towards anybody. I sometimes would visit her one day when I visited. I saw her tied to her bed with belts. I was terrified the abuse that she was going through even my sister sometimes would tell me that the people who were supposed to take of her would make comments about her mental health and laugh in front her really bad that you experience racism even when you are a muslim female patient so heartbroken and no could’ve done anything for us about this incident if we were to talk about it
I gave birth to Royal Alexandra and it was the worst experience, there is so much negative about this place from customer service, the stay, the cleaniless, the rooms, assessment. If you can avoid going there don't go !
Terrible service
Wow last time I ever come to this hospital if I could I would give a no star the nurses are rude arrogant inconsiderate been over 4 hours here brought my grandson in he fell on his head but a leg is apparently more important than a 19 month olds head because we got here first & the cleaning people use hard chemicals I had an allergic reaction & asthma attack that isn't enough for them to stay away from me but nope they came back I asked the lady not to come to close after I told her what happened when the last guys came she only went 4 feet away not enough so once again allergic reaction & asthma attack went to ask for ventaline mask they said they had to make me a file like wow just let me die stomach blotting up huge they made the file sent me back out to where the chemicals were then I asked to a list of all the chemicals being used the lady ignored me then my daughter went & said we need a list the lady said "I don't have to give you anything" laughing as she walked away well I recomend to not go to this hospital if your life matters. I spoke with someone about my concerns they brushed me off said there's nothing to be done about it this hospital is a nightmare STAY AWAY
Went in to visit my dad who got injured at work. The nurses here are so unbelievably rude, saying this as a nursing student they threw their ethics and morale training in the trash when they graduated because it is such an essential part of the training process. They talk to you with such condescending tones and attitude, have little regards to the feelings of the patient and their loved ones and are absolutely horrible! I understand because of the location of the hospital and the many dangerous patients they might recieve that they need to grow thicker skin to get through the day, but it’s is absolutely ridiculous how bad empathy is at this hospital. If the rest of nurse in the health care system were like this then god help out health care system! Like I said I am a nursing student and I know how stressful and demanding the job can be but I would never treat my patients or their loved ones this way, nor would any of my colleagues!
Smokers every day at the hospital entrances/exits endangering the health of the public and staff. There is no enforcement of the No Smoking on the property rule. Spraying a fire extinguisher in the face of the smokers is the only thing that would stop them?
I went to emergency Saturday night. The staff was so efficient. I was in and out within 3 hours which included X-rays, see the ortho specialist and being fitted with a boot. Thank you so much. I was so impressed. And I was from out of province!
I remembered in the past going to the emergency in this hospital Until they make you wait in the waiting room almost 24/7 my friend Almost passed out after 2 hours
I think about a year ago, my grandfather was taken to this hospital because he was having terrible pain in his legs. While we were there, we had some helpful nurses and the visit itself wasn't too bad (takes absolutely forever to receive ANY care though). The thing that pissed me off was that my grandfather had a set date to be released from the hospital but instead he was KICKED OUT 2 days before. Literally. He was still wearing his hospital gown. My aunt had to take time off of work so that she could drive him and my visiting grandmother home. If she didn't come, they would have been stuck there with no care. None of us were expecting it since it happened BEFORE he was supposed to be released. My grandparents can't speak english. Now I understand that because of the language barrier, there may have been some misunderstandings but I feel that if they were planning on discharging the patient, they could have at least TRIED to contact other family members contributing to his care or give us a brief report. Isn't that how discharge is supposed to work? To make sure the patient is receiving adequate continuing care in the community? If not, the patient care process and the responsibilities of a health care professional that I have learned in pharmacy school is all wrong. I am remembering all this now since my grandfather had suffered a fall on Sunday and is stuck in this same hospital. Because of the road conditions and distance, this was the only hospital we can reasonably get him to and where my grandmother can get to herself when we cannot drive her. I just hope the "health care professionals" decide to treat him a little better.
My dad needed a pace maker. 7 am appointment, layed in bed till 1:15 pm. Was in surgery for 45 min, then 2 hrs recovery. Staff great, admin needs kick in but. Who makes 83 yr old lay in bed that long. Got bladder infection now in hospital for that.
I was actually born here!
I was treated like a drug addict but the staff because I'm on narcotics from the doctor, but they don't help for the abdomen pain I was in, and they only offered me Tylenol for the pain after they gave me morphine and toradol for pain. I felt like they didn't believe I was in pain. I left still in pain because of the way they treated me.
It would be nice if the people in charge of putting names into the registration data base at the maternity ward would take just a few extra moments to double check their spelling. I am so sick of having to see parents pay to have their kid's names fixed because of the laziness of the staff. Royal Alex mistakes come up 8/10. Not good!
ZERO star. Always parking issues.
They (The Nurses) seemed have improved their attitude towards tthei patients . The new renovations, improving the interior look, may have had an effect on peronal (it y ?! ) who really knows??? ???? It may not last, so enjoy it while you can.....,..
EMS Staff and Emergency were awesome. RN girl she was pretty and friendly she brought us 2 chairs.
I went into royal alex as a last straw. I've been to doctor after doctor after doctor here in the city and nobody has been doing nothing to treat me. For the last 2 months I've been in nothing but pain, unable to eat, constantly puking, passing out, having seizures and the last straw to push me into er was getting so winded I passed out walking 3 blocks to the bus. So I called 811 they sent out the non emergency transport and they dropped me off a royal alex. The first nurse was amazing, kind, gentle and cared. The doctor on the other hand. Told me I was lying about pain even after I puked on him for touching where I'm in so much pain, told me nothing was wrong with me, and told me to seek a family doctor because "they would be more equipped to treat me then the hospital" I was BARELY able to even walk out of the building cause I was in so much pain and this has gone on for 2 months. You would think as what is supposed to be the best hospital they would have competent doctors who actually wanna work and treat patients.
They did plastic surgery on my eye and face after being stabbed twice in the eye upper socket and lower socket down across the cheack they did a wonderful job . Thank you for that Royal Alexander Hospital .
The wait time seems to be 2-3 hours. The U of A emergency room Is way better. wait times are usually 30 minutes to 1 hour. If you have a choice avoid the E R at all costs
Had my appendix out on February 26. Feeling great had three nasty stones in it. My doctor was awesome.
Very unpleasant and very unprofessional
Yesterday I had a Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy at the Royal Alex. From the moment I went to the ER for an ultrasound, then to the endoscopy unit, and finally to the surgery, every doctor and nurse who helped me along my journey was absolutely amazing! They all gave me the highest and most thorough level of patient care and treated me with such compassion and patience. It was truly an wonderful experience from start to finish, and so inspiring to see how hard our healthcare workers work to ensure their patients have the best and most comfortable time at their hospital, even with the added strain of COVID and limited resources. Thank you all so very much for everything, keep it up, it is very much appreciated and your hard work does not go unnoticed!
Some of the nurses are rude and really disrespectful and I’m not happy about it
I would've give it negative star if there is..i came 6pm through ems as i got my arms broken so i got to call 911..but once i got there i waited till 9 pm till they called my name..so i waited 3 hours in pain in the waiting area till they called me.i was even crying while waiting but they dont care..as i got in ,i waited another 2 hours to see the doctor ..and my doc see my xray says it only last 2 to 3 days..but it seems like almost a week now and i couldnt use my arm..if he advice me this will take like about 2 weeks to heal i shouldve applied for ei in the very first day...but he given me wrong info so its too late to apply for ei now..what a waste of time really.....im very dissapointed on this hospital...
Crazy waiting time, I have waiting 5 hours plus, there’s still 5 people ahead me, Need to waiting whole night to meet doctor, I give up.
A broken jaw that needs to be plated is not a "priority", they fed my son when they were not supposed to now because of someone's mistake we are put on a waiting list and have been waiting for days. So he don't eat all day everyday until about 9-10 at night and eat a couple Ensure meal replacements, then have to fast again yo wait all day to see if they can fit him in surgery.
