Such a great staff that works in that ER Department. Best experience at any ER I’ve ever gone to. Triage nurses were super friendly, kind, helpful. Dr.Turner was really great and he seemed to care about my kids injuries. All of the nurses, porters were so nice. God Bless you guys. Not an easy job working with hurting people day in and day out. Thank you. ❤️

Got admitted in the er, ems took us here because its the only hospital atm that can admit us the fastest, we got admitted alright, but didnt got seen after 3 hours after admission. YES 3 HOURS IN “EMERGENCY”, admitted but didnt got seen after 3 hours. Couldve drove next town over and be seen faster. All that hurrying the ambulance did, just to be told to wait for 3 hours.

I have had to bring my elderly mum numerous times and despite that they have always been respectful and helpful. The nursing care is superb. If ever I need to be in hospital this would be my first choice. Thank you.

Best staff and surgeons I've ever seen. Thank you for saving my life.

beautiful view, superior , empathic maternity ward staff. rock on.

My surgeon, Dr. Bimal Bhindi, was amazing in so many ways - definitely 5 stars for him - but my experience with the hospital's nursing staff and food was less than amazing. I felt uncared for in the recovery room - it was a jolt to be treated so brusquely - and I felt uncared for as soon as it was clear I was recovering well. For example, no one ever offered me a wash cloth; one nurse straightened my bed sheets and pillows once; the food was completely unsatisfying and worse, unhealthy. I had to follow up at least once on every single request, even to make sure my vital signs were taken approx every 4 hours. Etc. I could continue, but won't. My eyes on the Canadian health care system have been opened. Advice: Be sure to have someone (non-hospital staff) with you as much as possible to care and advocate for you - and to bring you healthy liquids and food.

Very bad hospital!! ???????? 8 doctors diagnosed me all differently, very bad attitude to people, I do not recommend this hospital to anyone.????

Care at Rockview was outstanding. From Emergency to Unit 81 and OR. The nurses were skilled and care was excellent. Most notable was professional communication between the staff and their light hearted banter. The hospital was very clean and the support staff were very diligent. My thanks to the leadership and the skilled and educated staff.

The best in town, I went to check my stomach because I was suffering from acid reflux, they did take care of me and the next day a GI specialist called me and scheduled the tests and appointments

I had the most awful experience at rockieview. I was in labour for 3 days, second day my water broke, I went to rockyview, the nurse said that my water hasn't broken and sent us home. On our way home the nurse called my husband phone saying we should come back that she thinks my water had broken. We turned around and wont back to rockyview. I was in labour till the next morning and they told me I had to do emergency c section. It was the most horrible experience and my baby ended up staying at the hospital because of some complications. If I ever get another child, it definitely not going to be at rockieview, they didn't treated me and my baby nicely.

I was at Rockyview hospital for 2 days regarding a kidney stone. I'm a patient from hell since I have preexisting conditions. My blood does not coagulate and I'm allergic to many meds. Nurses and doctors were unfailingly patient and cautious re operating on me. I was so impressed by all the staff on the daycare ward. Cheerful, helpful and kind. I met so many different staff at Rockeyview and all of them were excellent.

The wait was longer then expected and my wife wanted to go home. They laughed at her when she suggested she wanted to leave and they told her that she was making a big mistake. Patronized her and made her cry. Whoever works in emergency that treated her in such a way should be ashamed. DO NOT ATTEND THIS LOCATION. Unprofessional and rude.

Adam Flewe

Great hospital with a great crew of staff and long list of services. Check online for estimated wait times if you need urgent care. Only minor issues, staff can get incredibly busy and you may need to initiate conversation. Don't be afraid to speak up!

If I could give you 10 stars I would! I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the team that admitted and treated me for some post-operative complications on the night between December 12 and 13, 2018, from the nurse at the Triage and the clerk at the Admission to the Emergency nurses and doctors who helped me that night. A huge 'thank you' to Dr. Munro, the on-duty ophthalmologist, who went above and beyond to find out what was causing the problem, and to my eye specialist, Dr. Bhamra, who came to the Emergency at 11:30 p.m. to remove the troublesome air bubble from my eye. Once more - Thank you all!

Hadis Siadat

Terrible patient care and service delivery. Drs are indifferent, don't care much and highly desensitized to patients' pain and providing effective solutions to relieve them of their pain..and this is the emergency department too...0 stars if it was possible.

So I use the Rockyview maternity practice as such deliveries of the babies are done at the Rockyview Hospital. I got to the hospital through the emergency when my contractions were getting painful. I was taken to the 6th floor where I was put in a room and given some laughing gas. When I was abt 4cm dilated, I was taken to the delivery room where I was given epidural and stayed for a couple of hours. Eventually, I had to do a C-Section and my baby was also taken to NICU. I was then moved to a private room. My daughter was well taken care of at NICU. They brought breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday to my room. The doctors and nurses were so nice to me and showed great interest in my wellbeing. When baby was moved from NICU to my own room, the nurses took great care of her and even took her out for a few hours at night just so I cld get some sleep cos we know dealing with a newborn can be tough. Overall,I had a fantastic experience at the hospital. The only thing I needed from my hospital bag was toothbrush and toothpaste; every other thing was provided till I was discharged.

Libby

This is a great hospital. Staff is very friendly and caring. I went here a few months ago and got a CT scan. The staff made me feel extremely welcome and even gave me some warm blankets when I had to wait longer. Really great community, thank you to everyone who is working there during this pandemic right now!

Awful phone service and extremely poor triage and doctor care as well. Waited an extra hour, after waiting 2 and a half in the first place to see my doctor again. Because I had tons of questions about what he had diagnosed me with. Instead he's nowhere to be found and they just shooed me out with a prescription that in the meantime HASN'T WORKED. Wish I had gone elsewhere. And now who ever answered the phone for me in emergency today needs re-training and an attitude adjustment. Some people have anxiety and a hard time on the phone. No need to be rude about it to my girlfriend and I. Just as you guys mentioned on the phone, I'll just be going to a clinic instead of wasting my time with a bunch rude and careless people at the Rocky View Hospital Emergency Room.

Alright , today my mother , and I went to the urology center to see doctor Coppola , everything went great . BUT when we left to go see the front desk to book our next appointment , we experience some most unprofessional service from a Receptionist with glasses , she gives my mother , and I the most judgemental look , and unprofessional response, and she won't work around our work schedule, to find an appointment for us . My family works 6 days a week , and runs a restaurant , we can't closed down the restaurant just for an appointment like this . The receptionist response was " it's fine if you don't wanna listen to the doctor , but he says 6 weeks " LIkE EXCUSE me receptionist it's not that my mother doesn't want to listen to the doctor , it's because mother has to work , and you gived her the most odd times ever , and won't let us move our appointment 1-2 weeks after . So I told her I will call to book her appointment , then she just rolled her eyes at me, and put on a fake smile . If you call yourself a receptionist , then act like one . Cause your an unprofessional / terrible receptionist , that think your everything , and all .

Had an incredible surgery team! Thank you for making my first surgery (ever) bearable and as comfortable as possible. Really appreciate that my anxiety and fears were recognized and taken into account. Could not have hoped for a better team. Recovered in full, and feeling incredible. Thank you, thank you, thank you! ♡

Nursing staff were friendly. Waiting time was ridiculous doctors are there just to make a buck.

Staff in radiology performed the incorrect scan on me, which I needed due to gallbladder problems. The wrong scan - which I did not realize was the wrong scan until later in the ER - made me so violently sick that I ended up in the ER. I have a serious, chronic health issue stemming from abdomenal surgeries as a premature infant which were triggered by the incorrect scan performed on me. Although I was thoroughly disappointed by the incorrect scan and the long wait in the ER I was treated with respect, kindness and compassion by staff, especially in the ER. Dr. Todd Peterson attended to me in the ER and was the epitome of what an ER doctor should be: intelligent, attentive, willing to listen, highly compassionate and genuine in his care for patients. I was very ill but my spirits were lifted by the loving care I received by Dr. Peterson and the exceptional nurses under his direction. Mistakes happen, even at hospitals where people expect perfection. It is frustrating to experience a medical mistake but I am thankful for the way I was treated by staff. They made me feel that they cared about me and wanted me to feel better. *** April 15, 2019 *** Back in the ER for the second time this year for another small intestine obstruction and possible gallbladder attack. Although I hate being in the ER and I hate being in pain/sick, I love the nurses and doctors who work in the ER. Not only are they knowledgeable and professional, but they're also compassionate and loving. I feel valued and accepted here, that my situation truly matters and that I'm more than just a number on a chart. I was seen almost right away, even though the department is busy. Nobody enjoys being in the ER and it is difficult to rest here, but it's reassuring to feel that those taking care of me genuinely want me to be comfortable and to get better. Much gratitude and love to the staff at the Rockyview General Hospital ER ????

Waited 5.5h (the wait time posted by AHS was 1h 24 mins) for a single blood test/ results. Then they made me return the following day for an ultrasound. C'mon! that could have happened the previous day! And, then re-triage for those test results? Two emergency visits, ($400 per admission charged to taxpayers) , plus an entire weekend waiting for just 2 simple tests. Get real!

I’ve been to foothills and south health and neither of those hospitals compare to the care I witness and have received here. The doctors are very thorough, the nurses are so wonderful and work hard every day. There’s a reason RGH was rated 3rd best hospital in all of Canada.

I have a friend that is having surgery today at this hospital and i tried to send a gift basket or some flowers but unfortunately they dont do orders over the phone. Which doesn’t make sense to me, especially for friends and family that live out of town. It would have been nice to send them something special.

Very rude staff! I wouldn't ever recommend that hospital.

I was sent into emergency surgery, and this staff just went above and beyond to make me feel safe and comfortable. The amount of kindness I received from the nurses and surgeons here melted my heart. BIG thank you to you all!! I wish I could do more to return the kindness back!

I don’t think visiting the hospital is an experience anyone really enjoys, but that doesn’t mean that some visits aren’t better than others. I’m going to keep this review short and simple by focusing on the location, building/environment, staff and how efficient the process was overall for our most recent visit. Without getting into details, we had to visit the ER late Saturday night. Before heading out we checked the wait times online with AHS to see what the best option was. Rockyview had the ideal wait time and was conveniently located nearby so we headed over. Getting there was easy, just off 14 St, South of Glenmore Trail. Parking was also very ample, being in a somewhat non-central area works in your favor here. I was a little disappointed we still had to pay for parking in the dead of the night, it would be nice to have free parking after a certain hour until early morning. Compared to some of the other hospital facilities in Calgary I find Rockyview to be cleaner and better maintained, a big plus in regards to health and also a comforting feeling that you’re in a good environment. Good first impression for sure. The patient admittance process was very smooth and efficient, the front line staff were very friendly and got us through right away! Once in the examination room a nurse arrived promptly and completed her due diligence in a timely and professional fashion. Great job on setting things up for the pending doctor examination and diagnosis. The doctor was noticeably young, not a bad thing but I’ve had some issues with younger doctors before due to inexperience. It wasn’t long until he alleviated any doubts I had though. He was quick, professional and had done his homework on the file by reviewing an important piece of information from a previous exam that would aide in his diagnosis. We were here because of an ongoing/previously diagnosed issue that had come up again. In short we had been to 4 different doctors already and the diagnosis was split, this was now the 5th doctor visit! We had done our share of research, so we had a good idea of what it was, what it wasn’t but still there was a piece of the puzzle missing which led us here on this evening. After a quick review of the file we final had our missing piece, he was confident in his diagnosis and what he said made more sense than any previous explanation. Previous explanations came with hesitation and this one did not, we were happy to finally be affirmed with an adequate answer and resolution to the medical concern. So to close, the environment was clean, comforting and well maintained. Everyone was very friendly and knew how to add light humor to an unpleasant situation, a nice touch with some delicacy. Beyond the light conversation everyone was at all times professional, efficient and well aware of the potential emergency at hand. We got through to examination in very timely fashion and even a bit ahead of estimated wait times. Lastly we final got a firm answer that 4 doctors prior could not provide. Thank you Rockyview General Hospital :).

I feel that they keep on encouraging me to leave. And also guys 4plus hours waiting is normal here. I dont get why its even called emergency if it takes 4 hours. The triage is screwed up and its severely under staffed....

Andrey Tcherepanov

They are very busy dealing with COVID patients

Tonya Roberts

I gave them two stars for their EMT's who are professional and kind, and most of the nurses too however the doctor's don't seem to follow through on details. When I delivered my child by C section, they were supposed to do an ultra-sound before inducing me. They did not, and my baby had the cord around his neck. His heart decelerated three times in labour, and we almost lost him simply because they missed this step. My most recent visit I was in a lot of pain with fever, vomiting, diarrhea... they gave me pain meds, gravol and hydrated me, but discharged me without ordering tests that would have determined WHY I was sick. I then had to go back to my doctor, and get the requisition, etc...

I can't say enough about how warm and supportive the staff were at Rockyview Hospital. Each staff member introduced themselves by first name and frequently kept me informed about my situation and status. And the room I stayed in for one night rivaled 5-star hotel rooms, as it overlooked a lake. Yes, patients are required to wait some hours before seeing a doctor, but this is a reflection of the Canadian medical system and not the hospital. My experience at Rockyview was as good as I could have hoped for. Thanks so much everyone. Greatly appreciated.

Megan McClure

All things considered they do an amazing job. I’ve experienced two of my most important family members having surgeries there and great attention has been payed by their surgeons and from the rest of the staff for the most part. My only issue is with them sending patients home when they don’t have anyone there to do a ct, or suggesting they don’t need one when it turns out they actually did. My family member was in for a surgery and the day nurse didn’t really check in regularly and didn’t respond to a request for pain meds. The evening nurse was so thorough though, so I guess the staff can’t be perfect at all times. I’m greatful overall for the experiences I’ve had, only a few things here and there I’ve noticed that are negative.

I went to the hospital Friday morning with over 38 degree fever, nausea and extreme dizziness and noise in my ears. After 4 weeks of strep throat and repeat fever even after antibiotics, the doctor in the hospital showed no interest in seeing sick patient, they are more interested in getting rid of you so they can chat on Facebook. After his resident checked me out and suspect me having a sinusitis infection, this Doctor Choy or Dr. Choi came in and put his leg on the chair and asked me "You look fine to me, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?" while I am shivering and barely able to talk. Really? You really need me to repeat all the symptoms and you really need to INSULT me and DOUBT me after your resident have checked me out? Well, Dr. Choi, unlike you whose salary is paid by a taxpayer like me, I have a job and I don't come to the hospital just because I feel like to, I only come here because I am SICK. Let me ask you Mr. Choi: " WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?", if you do not love your job and care about your patients then perhaps you should seek a different profession. I want to make note that the rest of the staff at Rockyview have been great. Nurse Joanna of the emergency ward, Dr. Chase. Everybody else has been great and I appreciate you comforting my fever when I was really out of it.

lawyerlady95

Unfortunately, I ended up in the ER with a serious issue (non-Covid). I was admitted for a few days to get treatment, monitoring and stabilization. No one wants to be in the ER or hospital but I was treated very well here. I received excellent care from the ER doctors, nurses and staff, and excellent care in the part of Unit 47 that I was in. Shout out especially to Dr. Simmons and RN Shauna who were so supportive, understanding and compassionate. They went over and above in taking care of me. Bless these medical professionals for all their hard work, especially in what has been an extremely trying and distressing time due to Covid and cutbacks to AHS from the provincial government!

The doctor and the nurses at the ER were excellent, they were kind and they made me feel that they cared for my wellbeing and my baby's. The labour and delivery doctors are great too, I am looking forward to deliver my baby at this hospital. The facilities themselves are in good shape too compared to Foothills (which I personally think is very dark, dated and depressing).

I'm grateful to have received adequate and much-needed medical support at Rockyview General Hospital. Very friendly and kind medical doctors, nurses, and staff.

I did have this place as 5 stars, so I'll share my good experience and my more recent terrible experience. Terrible review: I was vomiting for hours and was not able to keep water down. I was so dehydrated that my gums were white and my eyelids were literally sticking to my eyes. I was actually vomiting up stomach lining so I had no choice but to come here at ~1am. I have never gone to the hospital for a flu before, but this seemed dire enough. The Triage nurse was so kind and caring. Then I got transferred into waiting room A and let me tell you it was hell in there. NO ONE was seen in a prompt manner. The nurses seemed angry and stressed and when I asked for some place to lay down (even the floor was an option for me at that point) I was told "what makes you so different than the rest of the patients waiting for doctors". Then was told there were only 2 doctors for that entire ward?! There were at least 20 people in bad condition. Several were vomiting and several more were in severe pain. I was not allowed water but was not given an IV at any point. I was bumped several times which I totally understand but at least give me some fluids so I don't keep passing out! I fainted on the bathroom floor several times. When I alerted a nurse to this and again begged from some sort of place to rest / fluids I was told to go back and sit in my chair and wait. After ~5 hours with no IV, no attention from the nurses, and NO TREATMENT WHATSOEVER I left. That was the ONLY time the nurses in that area were actually kind to me. I understand it's very hard to be understaffed, but your patients are scared and in pain. Don't treat us like cattle. Good review: I was rushed here after being transferred by the sundance hospital for emergency abdominal surgery. The paramedics were so kind, and all the doctors and nurses treated me very well. All staff seemed very happy and well trained. My surgeon and anesthesiologist were endlessly patient with me and my very nervous mom and helped my family and I get through the rather scary process. I was very happy with the treatment I received.

Sat in the er for 3 days to be told to just go home and that there was plenty of other people who wanted help. I was told this by the doctor McAuley. Not only that but the nurse while nice to your face will gossip about other Patients and why they are there, and some laughed about other situations.

I am envious of the people who have said they had great experiences at this hospital. Every time we have to go to the hospital, we always get sent here because south health is always packed and there’s no room. Even though we moved to almost five years ago, it’s just our bad luck to keep being sent here. A few years ago my husband was misdiagnosed with “food poisoning “ and sent home only to have me rush him back (we lived closer to this hospital at the time) and they retested him to find out he actually didn’t have food poisoning (surprise, surprise) and had to have surgery to remove his full bladder. Fast forward to a year ago when I gave birth to our first baby. Had her at home but had to go in since she was just slightly under weight. Again, south health was full so we had to drive to rocky view at midnight. Stayed 3 days in the most uncomfortable single bed which I shared with my husband. The one nurse there on night shift was so pushy to have us formula feed right away after hours of baby being born and I wanted to exclusively breastfeed. She threatened me by saying my baby will have to stay longer if she doesn’t pass the glucose test. I told her I wanted to try to breastfeed and she can test the next round and if she fails then I will give her formula. She passed and didn’t even tell me until I asked. The worst experience for a new mom In the first 48 hours. This hospital hasn’t proven to be what other people say as these experiences have been awful. I agree with the other review about the ER waiting room; they always give the IV and make you wait and then give you the wrong diagnosis. It wasn’t just my husband they told had food poisoning, another lady beside us came back as well and also had to get full bladder removed after being told something else. Try to go somewhere else if you can!!

Elegant_101

Everyone at this hospital from the Triage to the nurses to the doctor and every member of the staff are phenomenal. I brought in my daughter to this hospital as she was having difficulty breathing. The service we received at this hospital was absolutely outstanding. They didn't waste a single second in making us wait. Took her in immediately, did all the necessary tests and didn't let us leave until they and we were completely satisfied. They were so nice and caring. Can't say enough about the exceptional service we received at that hospital. Thank you so much.

The nurses i encountered today should be ashamed of themselves for being verbally abusive to me and other patients around me. My medical needs were being neglected and after 4 hours of waiting for a dr while in extreme pain I made the decision to leave the emergency department to seek medical care somewhere else because my health was declining rapidly. Once I stood up and started walking towards the door the nurses finally noticed me and were more interested in yelling at me while chasing me down me to sign a form stating that I was leaving against medical advice. What medical advise is my question? I was brought in by EMS and dropped off into a recliner chair for 4+ hours without any medical attention from any nurse or dr the whole time I was waiting. I refused to sign the paper and carried on walking out the door. Im awaiting surgery for a very painful condition which unfortunately has me visiting the hospital for treatments more than I'd care to be there. Im starting to notice an unfortunate trend lately with patients being yelled at or verbally abused and treated unkindly by nurses. I realize the nurses are clearly tired and overworked due to the pandemic but there is no excuse for mistreating patients. I wish I could give 5 negative stars cause the one star I had to give just to post this complaint was overly generous after my experience today.

Aly Wenc

My heart is always warmed by the amazing staff at the rockyview. You are seen, appreciated and loved. Thank you for saving lives everyday.

I had to go to the emergency ward at 2 Am. I had a swollen tongue and throat. I was having difficulty breathing. The check in was very fast and I was attended to by the nurses and doctor within 10 minutes. They looked after me and reduced the swelling. I was allowed to leave at 8 Am that day. All the staff were incredible. Thank you very much for being there.

CJ Wallace

Dr Barr was great as usual. The Urology nurses and staff were extraordinary. Highest level of care and expertise. The nurses especially had to put up with an old Army, grunt major, and they handled me with ease. I still hate hospitals, but the staff were second to none. To Mi, thanks for your professionalism.

Staff are happy and it has a lot of natural light. Big bright happy as it. An be for a hospital.

Thank you so much to the nurses and staff at the rocky view. The nurses I had in day Surgury on June 25 are awesome the whole staff made my Surgury fast and worry free eye Surgury you were all awesome. ????

I’m super frustrated with rude, heartless, miserable and mean nurses such as Louise who works in emergency. Wow, this nurse needs to learn how to interact with people or go home. She is so rude and got disgusting attitude. Specially working over Christmas, they sure make it clear that it’s such an inconvenience and she can’t Ben said it she didn’t want to be working on Christmas. Well, that’s not my fault and she has no right to take it out on the patient. I made a prayer that she will get sick and she will get the same treatment maybe she’ll learn her lesson. We have been coming here for two days due to surgery complications and she sure made it very very hard for us for no reason - I’m actually afraid to ask her anything because she keeps snapping. It’s only early morning for her to be stressed. I truly wish from the bottom of my heart they’d put her somewhere where she doesn’t deal with people because she is making it very hard for us for no apparent reason except being rude and without any manners. Honestly, the majority of staff are wonderful and caring and I appreciate all of them trying to help out over the holidays, but if someone miserable like Louise, they maybe she shouldn’t work and ruin other’s mood. I honestly don’t wish this treatment for anything from this lady and I hope that one day soon she will need someone’s help and she gets treated the way she treated us. What a horrible lady is nurse Louise. What goes around comes around and I truly pray for her to learn a valuable lesson soon. She may need help and not find it.

Cam in the emergency room for my husband chest pain on a Friday evening. Thank goodness we didn’t have to wait long. About 25 minutes for the doctor to come check him out. Fortunately it was just some minor gas and everything went okay. Really recommend the ER at this hospital. Quick service, friendly doctors and clean areas.

ABSOLUTE WORSE BIRTHING EXPERINECE OF MY entire life ! , I had got an epidural , right after delivery maybe 5 mins after I gave birth they expected to get up , which was impossible I was 100% frozen , they were mad and rude that they had to help me and the nurse when I asked for water offered me bathroom tap water , I had extreme after birth pains , this was my 4 th baby so very painful as any women would know , they offered me Tylenol for pain relie for my after birth contractions . Got mad at my husband for staying with me and asked me to kick him out. The maternity ward should be shut down for making someone feel so comfortable , the foothills by far has been a hevean sent for giving birth ! DO NOT GOVE BIRTH AT THIS HOSPITAL !!!!

Lu Z

Delivered my second baby at Rockyview. My nurse was super nice to help me with my newborn the first night so I could have some sleep.

Houda (Houdaak)

Of all the hospitals in Calgary, Rockyview has the best staff hands down. They were so kind and sweet from triage to dismissal. The nurses were extremely kind and caring. Definitely worth the 20 minute drive. Thank you, Rockyview!

Stacy Ewing

The staff in Admissions, Day Surgery and the OR were amazing. They all seemed so happy and willing to help and make patients feel comfortable. The one criticism of the hospital: get your elevators serviced!

Over booked and running late on non emergency units. Open WiFi that continuously punts you off, and no cellphones in unit waiting rooms because "interference" but hallway beside surgical/procedure rooms is fine.

Dara Dueck

Doctors here resort to gaslighting tactics, lying and exaggerating files. Also, this hospital gives preferential treatment to AHS workers who are patients. This hospital is also racist. If Oprah came here, they would chop her to pieces. Even if you are a tax paying citizen, the staff bully you and are more interested in discussing their upcoming vacations to places like Dubai and online shopping while on the job. One of the sad parts is that these staff members are suffering from mental illness.

K

Mental health care here is a joke. You are treated as a label not a person. Begged to be admitted for my safety instead was ushered out my security and put into a taxi and sent home, told to deal with it myself... Because I'll always be an ongoing risk to myself and there is nothing they can do about it. Thankfully I got help elsewhere otherwise I likely wouldn't be alive.

i'm staying in unit 45 and i've lost count of how many times i've gotten food i didn't order using a menu the previous day, sometimes even whole meals consist of things i didn't order and can't eat. It's not just me either, because i've seen notes in bright red on other patients' receipts stating that they can't make necessary substitutions or abide by restrictions they have for health reasons (serving muslim patients pork, giving coffee to people with heart/liver problems, not accommodating food allergies even though they specifically ask us about those in intake, etc). whenever they've had to make a substitution on one of my meals they didn't even note it on the receipt, and there hasn't been a single day of my stay here that i got all three meals in a day without some sort of error in regards to what i ordered. Today i complained about getting a breakfast i didn't order and was told that it's just how the system works, and that i could get the stuff i DID order albeit late and cold by a nurse with a dismissive attitude. i told her that i'd like that and appreciated it, put the tray with the incorrect food back, and waited. Guess who didn't get to eat breakfast today. I feel as though i should note that i am underweight and prone to hypoglycemic attacks, both medical conditions that need to be monitored and treated with care, something that is not happening here as i get meals consisting of food i can't eat. additionally, the bathrooms here are often filthy. the one bathtub here looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months, and there's often hair and unknown substances on the walls and floors of showers. The sink faucets have possibly years worth of buildup of minerals in the tap water on them, and the mirrors and floors are often unclean. i'm pretty sure some of the bathrooms even have a mold problem, as my throat starts to close up while i'm using them (i'm allergic). the nurses working here mentioned this unit being understaffed, but that doesn't excuse the abhorrent neglect from whoever is filling our meal trays and the inability of the cleaning staff to do their job keeping the bathrooms at a bare minimum of decent cleanliness. The worst part is that this place is still marginally better than where i came from (though that's a story for a different review). i would not stay here again willingly

Amazing doctors and nurses in the emergency room, I came in scared and in pain and they helped me immensely even up to the point of me needing emergency surgery. Always very kind. The rooms were very clean and good.

I had a hysterectomy at Rockyview in October, 2020. Because of covid, I had to arrive at the hospital alone. Everyone was so gentle and patient with me. I had experienced a medical trauma as a child from a nurse who wasn't kind; this surgery helped reverse my fear of hospitals. A huge thank you to the nurses who got me ready for surgery, the staff who wheeled me to the waiting space, the volunteer who sat with me and helped me stay calm, and the incredible anesthesiologist, surgeons and operating room nurses. I remember climbing onto the table and starting to panic, asking if they were sure the anaesthesia would work. The nurse held my hand until I was out. I will never forget that kindness. Thank you to the nurses who helped me in recovery and brought me so many cups of water on request (sorry! We weren't allowed to go to the machine because of covid). They were so encouraging when I started walking the halls and I appreciated their support. The entire experience was positive and life-changing for me. Healthcare workers are heroes; fight for them the way they fight for us.

Check in staff was rude and extremely condescending, wait time estimate was 50 minutes and I’ve been here 5 hours with no progress. I could have flown to Vancouver driven to my usual hospital and driven back to the airport in the time it’s taken them to do absolutely nothing. Edit: an hour later and I’m questioning if there are any doctors at this hospital. I’m getting pretty tired of hearing the nurses talk about their boy preferences and Halloween plans, cmon ladies learn some professionalism. The level of unprofessionalism here is going to get someone killed I’ve now been here 7 hours and I haven’t seen a doctor yet, I’ve been in a little room by myself for 2 hours I’m in excruciating pain the nurses are too busy talking to Check in on patients and absolutely nothing is being done about it. On the bright side the doctor was awesome, super kind and helped me out he is just very understaffed, moved my 1 star to a 3

I gave birth to my son last month at the Rockyview hospital. I had an amazing experience, the staff were incredible I really appreciate Dr Nadine Lundgren and all nurses especially Chelsea for their professional service, care and kindness.

SEHAM’S BOUTIQUE

Her name is Denise and she works the overnight shift in Day surgery; She doesn’t seem to know how to interact with humans. Worst attitude, horrible and negative. I would highly recommend that this nurse gets pulled to the back office where she deals with papers instead of People.

Worst hospital in Calgary. My advice don't go there, unless you want to get more sick. My experience was very bad. The staff don't care and rude. There is no signage in the waiting room to guide you for next step . My wife had a neck pain and couldn't sleep at night. I took her to rocky view hospital to get diagnosed for any neck injury. After five hours wait , we were admitted and nurse "Mark " gave morphine injections to my wife. I did ask the nurse, why morphine injection and he rudely replied if you want relief we have to inject with morphine. To my knowledge, the morphine is given only in surgery cases or severe pain by patient permission. After injections, my wife situation got worse and she couldn't talk. I called the nurse and he checked her BP and pulse came low. She started experiencing nausea and vomited more than 15 times. It was worst and painful experience. Then, we were sent to waiting area and waited another four hours. My wife got more sick and they want us to sign the if we want to leave. There was no bed provided. Please, don't go to rocky view hospital to be safe.

Terry-Ann Duitman

I have had many positive experiences at Rockyview hospital in different departments. Friendly staff are everywhere. Today was not so good. I am staying in the hospital and have been for just over a week. I rang for a nurse because I am into pain. She came and asked what I wanted. I told her I needed something for pain. That was last time I saw her. Almost 1 hour had past and I rang again because now I pain has intensified. One the male nurse came by I told him l needed pain meds. He went and got the meds right away. So not all experiences are bad.

Great experiences in 3 births at this hospital, nothing but wonderful nursing staff from the labour room to the NICU to postpartum

My wife delivered our newborn girl there. Staff are amazing, very professional. Informed us all about the anesthesia options, were very helpful at all stages. Thank you, the guy who did epidural, looked like michael jordan =) and of course rest of the staff. 5 stars!

I just came out of the crisis ward and just wanted to say the staff was absolutely amazing. I forgot to get her name, but a lady working around this time with black hair, bangs, and a septum piercing helped me more than she could ever know. I am so thankful for the staff here, because of them I feel safe to leave on my own. Thank you guys.

Went to visit someone today and only the bottom 2 levels of the parkade was open. No notices about the work being done at all. The parkade was completely full and still had cars pulling in off the street causing a huge traffic jam inside. Whoever runs maintenance needs to think things through a little bit more. Put up some signs and warn people.

navdeep saini

Very careless staff and I would give ZERO for their service. My sister went yo emergency and she kept waiting for 6-7 hours. Just to be told by them to come next morning to see the specialist. If you don’t have enough doctors who could handle the situation why the hell would you tell the patient to wait in pain. Would not recommend this place especially emergency. The next morning with and appointment for 9:30 am my sister sat there for 5 hours waiting for the specialist. Going to them is waste of your time and the patient suffers more pain and discomfort. I would use word PATHETIC for them.

I spent 18 hours in emergency with about 3.5 hours of that in constant level 8-9 pain. Nearly every person I was in contact with left me with a feeling that they cared about my well being. Special mention to both Marie's from the E.R. as well as Dr. Rose and Dr. Johnston. I haven't spent much time in hospitals, but I have never been treated so well. Thanks to the team!

The staff here should be ashamed of their behavior towards patients with disabilities. Several staff members, including male paramedics, and Peace officers, bullied and harassed my girlfriend, repeatedly. She is unable to wear a mask due to severe asthma. Wearing one would stop her from breathing! The hospital had zero consideration for exemptions to the bylaw, by law she doesn't require a mask! They should know the laws as "professionals". The police were racist towards her after showing them her exemption letter by a doctor. She had to scream at them to leave her alone. A nurse even harassed us in the hospital room behind a closed curtain. Absolutely horrendous behavior to allow someone like that in this industry. We even called ahead of time and they had no protocols in place for patients with exemptions. What? You wouldn't treat people in wheelchairs like this, so why treat other disabilities horribly?

Masha Manina

Such caring and friendly staff! I had the best support system during labour and delivery with the nurses and the doctors that were by my side the entire the time. The nurses helped me by giving me a massage, showing different breathing techniques and calmed me down when I got scared. Thank-you to all the nurses and doctors, but a special thank-you to nurses May, Madie and Dedra from Labour and Delivery, and nurses Carmen, Nicoletta and Katie from Post Partum. The nurses in post partum taught me so much, and showed me amazing tips and tricks. I am very grateful I got this experience, and would recommend this hospital for birth over and over again! Thank-you Rockyview!!!

On May 5, my sister was brought in by the ambulance the waiting time from we arrival/ departure was 8hrs in the ER, the staff and Dr are useless. The only person that had an idea of what was wrong was the gynecologist. Which we have to go back in two weeks?? She was in more pain when we left. The Dr prescribed pain prescription and out we went. While waiting in the waiting room a young mom and her baby was there, the mom was shivering and crying as she was in so much pain. Nurses walked by and never even bother taking the time to attend to her changing conditions, until a patient in the ER got up and told the nurse. I felt like we were in a third world countries and you were just a number. I live in Calgary pretty much my entire life. The worst hospital ever. No sympathy for patients. Not sure if they are short staff, health care cut backs or what??

So far so good I was very nervous about dropping off my old man and leaving him at some unknown hospital but I've been able to call and talk to him the staff have been very good to us and I do believe he is in good hands once a skeptic but not any more I'm just gonna walk over there now and drop off his cell phone now since its only 5 6 blocks away!

This hospital is awful. Never go here if you have mental health. My partner had extream chest pain. They said it was "anxiety". The doctors where rude, awful. The nurse are horid. Avoid this hospital. Everyone will treat you like absolute garbage.

One of the worst service when you are coming for an emergency, least bothered about the people and their suffering, all you have to do is to wait till the time you die, may be after that they can assist you with some help.

(Translated) Appointment at 2 o'clock and finishes after 3 hours. No meaning of appointment. I understand from the ER, but what is the management like when the clinic appointment is more than 3 hours? Second appointment. Only 5 people took 20 minutes to check in at the place where only people with appointments come. Although it is a time-consuming clinic, the reservation time has already passed at the reception. It's like being in the 19th century when I'm searching for files manually rather than on a computer. I had a recent excellent experience at the Rocky view. From the minute I walked in, it was easy to find out where to go. I had day surgery from checking in to surgery and checking out it was a breeze. Everyone was friendly, helpful and polite. Hard working staff were always cheerful even when dealing with cantankerous and ornery people. They took good care of me and made me comfortable. I was informed of my procedure every step of the way. These hard working folks don't get paid enough.

Best ER in the city for me so far. I was treated with compassion, friendliness, humor , kindness and with true medical efficiency. I have several rare medical issues. Not only did the doctor know what it was but so did both of my nurses. Whereas at Foothills the last time they got me confused with other patients and this drastically delayed my diagnostics and treatments for my heart condition. Next time I'm having issues I will probably make the extra drive to go here if possible because I've never been treated better in an ER in my entire life.

Had a day surgery on Feb 2nd and it was a great experience from the check-in through to being discharged. The porter who took me to surgery was very friendly, the doctors and nurses were great, when I woke up in PACU the nurses there were doing everything they could to help me with my nausea and to make me smile. The porter that brought me back to day surgery drove carefully as I was feeling sick. Special thanks to Sue the evening nurse in day surgery and to Renee the day nurse the following day, both women are exceptional nurses and the hospital and patients are very lucky to have both of them. I'm so grateful for the great care I received.

Ian Mackay

I spent a few days in Ward 71 getting tests and investigations, and I can say the staff were all wonderful. Our heath care workers from the top down, need to be paid more. The BS they deal with day to day from the average patient; the cramped conditions, the hours...............I mean these are people dedicated to make your life better. We're damn lucky to have a system in Canada which allows us to get this sort of treatment. I would have given a 5 star, but those goofy inflatable beds were impossible to sleep in. Noisy (like sleeping next to a Shop Vac),and always moving - to eliminate bed sores, I wasn't able to get much sleep which diminished my experience at RG. Thanks to Dr's Holman, Roman, and Ali, and all the staff who made my experience at RG. :-)

I went to Rockyview General Hospital for some scans and the staff was pleasant, kind and efficient! I would highly recommend this hospital over multiple others in the city.

I went to the emergency department. When I came in there was one person ahead of me. I don't know how it happened but I ended up having to stay for 6 hours to get my problem looked at. The staff had almost no empathy, the doctor was close minded and was not willing to look into a solution for my problem. I left very upset, as they could not find anything with the tests they ran, but were not willing to dip deeper. They are a joke. My family doctor referred me to go there. I will never step foot in that joke of a hospital again.

Jared Friesen

Staff are friendly...building is aging.

Beware this hospital. The staff neglect and abuse patients. If you or someone you care about goes here, have someone stay with you or them at all times. Staff here dropped my mom on the floor because they didn't care to follow protocol. My mom was also verbally and physically abused. She could not recover after surgery due to the neglect and abuse and she died. Don't ever leave someone you care about alone at this hospital.

Vijay Balasubramanian

I just been out of Emergency Surgery and the way I was handled with care and compassion is mind blowing. Yes the wait time was high but how I got serviced is all that matters. It all started with the ER Nurses , then duty Dr.Brendon was so kind to understand my pain and issue and he referred to Oncall Surgeon Dr.Curtis. Dr.Curtis was friendly and approachable did understand my pain and times I’ve been to ER FOR my issue. He skillfully convinced the Resident Surgeon for admitting me for Surgey. Waiting room to Admission room allocation was in lighting speed. DrCurtis took his time in spite of his busy schedule to describe the procedure and made me comfortable. The Nurses Taheera, Elle and Jess and Manju Health care Assistant who took care of me in Unit 83 were so professional and kind. The Surgeons Dr.Lall and Dr. Martin meet me and gave me confidence. The Surgeons were so professional and Kind. I was prepared for surgery put to sleep by Anastasia by Dr.Yong, such a wonderful person. The surgeons and theatre room attendants were so kind and made me comfortable. Then in seconds I was dreaming of me enjoying sunshine by sea.. when I woke up I was at the post ops and time just flew like seconds and I’m discharged healthy and normal. Thank you to everyone who made this tough journey easy and painless. I would strongly recommend Rocky view Hospital and all the Emergency Response team for their support

Double Standards..... I was in a conversation with the hospital head administrator. Location. outside the main entrance. It was under construction. I am one of the construction workers on site at Rocky View Hospital. I ask the head administrator if it was okay for me to go across the street to have a cigarette. We're the other people we're smoking. She told me that area was for hospital patients to smoke. Not for staff or contract workers. She pointed out that The Alberta law States that you cannot smoke on government property. I am totally fine with that... Here is what I am not fine with... Her patients can smoke on the property but no one else can... Double Standard...

I believe some workers there are extremely capable of the job. But they don't seem to care about patients whereabouts or personal product's. When I went to my doctor about a drinking night where I went to this hospital the day before, they released me around 3 am without a phone, wallet, or jacket(when it was the winter) didn't give me information on how to get home when I live in the NE so walked 85% of the way home, if it wasn't for a bus driver I probably wouldn't have made it home that night. Not recommending this place to anyone. All I have to say is, remember the time they let patients leave an get shocked when they can't find them.

Shweta Singh

OMG!!!!! Anything I would say will be less for this place. I am sooo grateful for having my baby in this hospital. This place is spectacular.... The nurses were so calm and humble I can’t thank enough they all cared for me like my family. Thank you Rockyview for the touching experience. We are grateful for each one of you for taking care of me, my little one and my husband too. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Wait times are brutal here. Times on the website never match what you end up actually waiting just to get a bed. Then you have to wait more to see a doctor. Currently I am sitting at 2.5 hours and the website said 1 hour. I am also watching a nurse lamp shopping on the Ikea website on the computer.

I am from INDIA. I have got a offer from your hospital. I am having a dream to settle in my life and give good education to my kids, I taught this is a good offer, but after going through the employment letter and mobile number and bank details given by the hospital is fake. Canada is a good country, I love the country but still some stupid people are there who are playing with the life of innocent people.

Caught the flu around Jan 6 and went there a couple nights ago which was Jan 9(Thursday) at around 11pm because I couldn’t handle my sickness and felt like passing out. Waited 3 hours for the doctor just to be told to take Tylenol. Unless you’re close to dying, do not bother to go. You would be wasting your time.

Hate this hospital. Had stomach pains for days then went to emergency. The "Doctor" accused me of being a drug addict and left me in pain for hours, finally kicking me out 4 hours later with NO treatment. Went back the next day, same thing only this time I called family and when they showed up the "Doctor" finally got off his ass and admitted me for treatment. BUT by then I was on deaths door and needed surgery. DO NOT go to this hospital. What a joke.

I would like to thank the Rockyview hospital staff. I will say this covid-19 has made things very difficult due to the nature of the virus. However the staff are the most professional, kindest hearts. Very accountable, super friendly and helpful to everyone and super efficient in what they do. This was by far the best hospital experience I have had in years and want to say thank you very much. Also I want to give a shout out to Kevin and Glenn two paramedics From Airdrie whom delivered me to the Rockyview hospital. Very on point to discuss there wisdom of the symptoms and the correct placement of the patient in their care. Kevin and Glenn thank you so much. I really appreciate you guys. We are so blessed to have such great public servants. Some would say well it is there job. I say thank you very much you guys helped me immensely and Rockyview staff nurses, doctors and subordinate staff were amazing!

This is my first time going there to do my eye surgery do they put needle into your arm ???

Fab Purpura

My wife was brought to Rockyview by ambulance due to chest pains. When I got to the hospital, an administrator asked me to put on a mask. I politely explained to her I was unable to wear a mask due to a medical condition. She asked me a second time to wear a mask. I reiterated why I was unable to wear one, and she yelled at me. I left as ordered and from outside the building I spent 90 minutes calling AHS in order to explain my situation. A nurse finally allowed me in after I answered a few screening questions to determine if I had CV19. It turns out my wife didn't take to the morphine she was given by staff and suffered an adverse reaction; thus she could not make clear-headed decisions. As such, she needed me, her husband, to assist her with any potential decisions that might be required. Being denied entrance to a hospital, to support a close family member, because I am medically unable to wear a mask was distressing. To this day I'm still feeling the negative effects of this experience.

Chenille Lovgren

I just had a laparoscopy and spent time in the 'day surgery' section of this hospital, and it was the most amazing experience. I don't like hospitals, and have never spent much time in them. I'm not sure what I was expecting, maybe to be treated as a number and the staff would be rude. I experienced the complete opposite: All of the nurses, porters, and surgeons I came into contact with were incredibly organized and incredibly personable. Everything was so streamlined. They answered all of our questions, helped me out with anything I needed and as I was going under for surgery, the last thing I remember was them rubbing my arm and telling me they'll take good care of me. I woke up in the recovery room full of gratitude and couldn't stop thanking every nurse I came into contact with. They are all so humble, they didn't seem to accept the thanks; took it with an attitude of 'it's just what we do'. Wendy and Donna in the day surgery room were the two nurses who helped me out the most. Two incredible nurses. I have such a respect for nurses after this visit. My gynecologist/surgeon Dr. Vivianna Chang was amazing. She found me before the surgery and asked if I had any questions before hand, and she also came in to see me while I was recovering.. I was told I probably wouldn't see her until the post. op appointment. What an amazing Dr! She also made the largest incision just above my pubic line, where it will be out of sight as a scar.. I found that to be thoughtful. all in all, I couldn't have asked for a better stay.

Nicholas Greene

This was the most unprofessional hospital visit I have ever experienced. The emergency triage nurse on duty on January 2 from 9 pm to January 3 at 4 AM was directly hostile and discriminatory towards my partner, including aggravating their injury to examine it. It took us several hours to even be transferred between waiting rooms because my partner was not even given a patient ID bracelet. When the time came for the transfer, the nurse walked extremely fast, leaving multiple mobility challenged patients behind, including an unaccompanied elderly woman. When I requested the nurse's name for the purposes of filing a report with AHS, she flippantly blew me off and then covered her name tag. This is not only a blatant disregard for the nursing code of conduct, but also indicates she knew full well she was in the wrong. If this is the caliber of staff this hospital insists on employing, do yourself and your loved ones a favor and stay away.

Best care and service, My wife went into labour and admitted in this hospital. The nurses were really sweet to her they took care of her very well. Even the doctors in the labour unit were very knowledgeable and sweet too, they constantly encouraged her during her pains and made her feel comfortable. Even the postpartum unit were really good the nurses were very attentive towards the her. We are very much satisfied with service and the care they have provided. Thank you Nat, SJ, An, Ern for your heart warming care.

I went to emergency for abdominal pain. Whilei was waiting, the girls behind the desk were extremely unprofessional talking about smoking marijuana and former patients. The doctor recommended i stay as they still did not know the nature of my condition. The same girls, one of which was an east Indian nurse refused to give me a bed and insisted i wait sitting up in the waiting room until the ultrasound section of the hospital was open ( it was about 6:30 and they opened at 8:30). I was in such pain that i signed a waiver and left. Their treatment/ behavior was cruel and unprofessional. I recommend anywhere else.

I appreciate the assistance nurse Kelly and for your he apple juice and sandwiches that he gave to me and my wife! Thank you and God bless! Tom...

I had my son there and my daughter had my granddaughter there and the experience was wonderful,....... then my daughter in law went into labor and was treated horribly by Dr. Sloper, being accused of trying to force her labor! RIDICULOUS!!!!, and the nurse then conveniently took her name tag off while they were verbally abused! because my son (who has tattoos) is a nervous father they accused him of being on drugs!!! DISGUSTING PREDJUDICE. I have lodged a complaint with the appropriate people, and I do hope an investigation into this matter happens, and must say that I will no longer recommend this hospital!

Love Marttin

Im a first time mother i was in labor with my daughter for 3 days got morphine and gravel shots for the first 2 days then finally they admitted me. Once admitted my labor went well everything was fine up until a few hours before my 24 hour mark with my baby they decided to stick another mom in the room with me and completely ignore me after she was in the room. They stopped checking my babys feeding stopped caring about the hygiene in the SHARED bathroom (blood on the floor in the toilet i had to hold it from 1-past 6am) they wouldnt let us leave because we apparently needed another check up but they wouldnt even check us to make sure we were okay. I was exhausted and everytime the baby next to us cried mine did as well and every time someone walked in it was loud as ever. Please do not deliver here its disgusting and unsanitary. They care about you until a more complicated situation comes along then your simply pushed aside and completely ignored.

Was treated by Dr. Adrien Tennent & his "boss" Dr. Scott F. Part of their staff was Mike, the Respiratory therapist. WAS TREATED AS A KING under their care. GREAT HOSPITAL. CLEAN!!! CLEAN!!! CLEAN!!!

I have been here several times in the last two years for both emergencies and surgeries for myself and my father. This is a great hospital with amazing staff. The nurses in the emergency room are so kind and caring. They are very organized in taking care of patients unlike foothills hospital which is a hot mess!

rebecca

this is the hospital i was born at i tbh i dont remember much but i didnt die so i would say they are pretty good

Charolette Webb

Had day surgery here today and everyone from pre-op yesterday, through all of my nurses and Dr’s today were awesome ???? They were all so very knowledgeable, understanding, friendly and professional. I got all the information I needed and answers to any questions I had. The entire hospital was organized and fully developed in COVID-19 precautions and safety. Special shout-out to Wilma, for placing the only IV that hurt no more than a blood draw. ???????? Wow! To Renee, who was the sweetest and most attentive RN in post-op. ???????? And last but not least Dr. Matthew Grossi the surgery master ????‍⚕️????, with resident Dr. Ali, who have returned such a quality of life to me. Everyone played a great part in helping remove my anxiety of surgery and making me feel confident and relaxed. **My sincerest gratitude ???????? to all of the loving heroes at the Rocky View Hospital ????????????

I have been to this hospital twice in my life. When my brother was born is 2005. And when I crashed my bike in 2020. Both times medical staff were happy to help and assist me and my family. Now that the MAX YELLOW bus line goes by, it is even easier to get to.

Good caring hospital

The optometrists and volunteers there were super reassuring and comforting. The wait time was like regular emergency room wait times, but the wait was worth it. I was offered lots of assistance and the doctors thoroughly went over what went wrong with my ER visit. They clearly communicated well with me what I needed to do and avoid during my treatment and recovery time. They doctors even provided me a free doctor’s note! Thank you.

Vanessa Adell

I had my baby at this hospital and I have no words to discribe, although I did had some issues, nothing related to professionals here, the nurses were incredible! I could make a gigantic review, because only in 3 days there I had many experiences, all with positive end! Doctors, Nurses, staff, everything just amazing! Thank you Rockview for wonderful memories on my baby girl’s birth!

Robin Vanderkooi

The way the psychiatric team in this hospital works is astonishing and quite frankly I'm not sure it's even legal. My best friend/ex was treated like complete garbage and has gone from suicidal but fighting to basically catatonic. I'm afraid to leave them alone at all. Your mental health system has completely failed and I wish you nothing but the pain you put my ex through times a hundred.

Derek Small

Busy. Line up at main entrance was pleasant and not too long. Covid Masking and hygiene were super and volunteers helped with getting to the Department. Staff are clearly tired and stressed with the ongoing lack of leadership from the Premier to reign in the misinformation spread by what appears to be his followers.

Mary Chicoine

I had both my children here and had such a great experience both timea because of the staff

Alan C

The hospital is very dated.

Kashif Mahmood

Extremely rude and unprofessional from Triage to dismissal. If you have a patient that doesn't speak English, don't come here!

Sophia Kootenay

This place made us wait 5 whole hours in the waiting room when my aunty was falling asleep she couldn’t see threw one eye and was really pale and the nurses were just talking not assisting her having a whole conversation making everyone wait ????

Rose Maria

I went in to ER and the wait time was very short and the doctor was very knowledgeable and nurses very helpful!

I went in for gallbladder issues and they tried to put me in the covid isolation unit.... I wasnt showing any symptoms of covid but showing the full chart of symptoms for gallstones and they felt the need to try to infect me by putting me in the covid unit ... definitely choose another hospital if you can. If I had not caught on that it was the covid unit I most likely wouldve contracted covid at the hands of the hospital.

KC

The staff at this hospital are so nice and welcoming. They try to make you as comfortable as possible as. They try to understand your situation and make it the best.

Chris Parsons

Was there for six nights with blood clots and the personnel were terrific. Best hospital visit I've had. Chris.

“DR” LIsa Harpur deletes all of her negative reviews everywhere but people need to know the truth she is the worse so called “doctor” as well as human being in general and is a b u sive towards patients as well as staff and pure e v I L would hate for others to suffe r that a buse and tr auma at her hands. My wife had a brutal appendectomy here in Jan 2010 & she was left in agony, we wrote to Alberta Health twice outlining our concerns about Dr Samer Elkassem, they ignored our letters. Two months later, the same surgeon killed a 23 year old kid performing the same operation. My wife was left in agony for the next four years, 3 operations she never needed to have, told they could do no more for her lifetime of pills and pain management - it was eventually diagnosed by a professional in under 30 minutes at the UCLA in Los Angeles - Google the shocking full story, type in Rockyview appendectomy - Alberta Health is a joke!

My husband came into the emergency room due to heart condition, the nurses and doctors took great care of him and we felt that they were really professional. Good service overall. Thank you doctor and nurses!

I came here in a life threatening state, the paramedics were super harsh and the doctors were rude. They wouldnt let me contact friends or family and removed my phone from the room. There was no communication of why and instead i was left confused and in fear. I didnt feel safe at all. Definitely dont want to come back to this hospital if there is an emergency

I have just spent 3 days at CCU at the Rockyview hospital and the staff there are second to none. There professionalism and friendly attitude as well as their smiling faces made me forget that I was sick. They are the best. Thank you for caring so much.

The worst hospital ever - I delivered there my baby and I felt horrible- the nurses are amazing and that’s all - doctor was very uncaring and I felt like I am unwelcome and as if she had more important things to do than her job! Not to mention the admin stuff not helpful at all they do not understand your request or even when you talk it’s like talking to a wall or a robot just saying words to let you leave so they don’t have extra work to do. All of them talking to each other and when you ask for something it’s like they are bringing it from their house. Not to mention who I kept asking for someone to come help me and my baby because she was shocking and because they are very busy doing nothing I had to press the bell 3 times and shouting baby is shocking then I found them coming after I went up and helped my baby. It is very sad really how unhelpful they are and when you ask for something you feel like you are asking for charity or something. Don’t go there it’s a mess. Unfortunately I made this mistake delivering there.

Bad experience in Emergency unit. Waiting for 7 hours to do a simple visit and check. They really need a system to be efficient. Very inefficient system

The staff in both Emergency and Unit 94 were amazing with my father who was palliative and passed away in hospital. The doctors, nurses and aides made us and my father very comfortable for this final days. A big thank you to all of them.

Andrea C.

Fully awful experience on Friday night until 4 am Saturday morning in the Emergency Room. I slept in a tent on the floor, no beds, no meds, I was forgot about. I was starving and they would not feed me, I was waiting for a CTI result. They stated I most likely didn't need surgery but they would not give me food. They forgot about me in the tent and a skunk sprayed by the air intake. So the whole place smelled like skunk. They finally told me I had a bad foot sprain and did nothing for me. There were 2 scary men in the waiting room and 3 women, so I asked to wait somewhere else. They put me by all the men who had been arrested and were in handcuffs. The hospital corridors were so clogged they could barely wheel me around. Disgusting hospital and an embarrassment.

If I could give less than one star I would. I went into emergency with a rare and very embarrassing and scary situation and was treated like a total joke. There was gossiping about my condition happening ALL NIGHT and so close to my room that my husband and I could hear everything. Our room was not private... the curtain that separated us from the rooms was never fully closed. We knew other patients could hear everything going on with us which was mortifying. I'm normally quite forgiving but the doctor leading emergency that night, was the worst part, (I will be kind here and won't mention his name) but I found this doctor to be inappropriate, unprofessional, at times aggressive when he wanted to push his power around. He approached my situation without telling me what he was going to do, and when I questioned what his plan was, in a very irritated tone, I got threatened he could leave and go help other patients instead. There were jokes made about me for hours and hours of sitting there and yet when I calmly ask a simple question, I get threatened that I wont get help anymore?. At first, the doctor didn't even believe me about my condition -- In fact, I have proof in a written document he typed up that said my condition was 'doubtful'. I was told things that weren't true, possible things that could happen to me, that were totally absurd and scary and more importantly, MISINFORMED. When I left there, all I did was worry in fear for two days before being sent to a specialist at South Health Campus. I finally was sent to SHC and had an AMAZING experience there -- Like night and day - Treated me with respect rather than entertainment or a joke... treated me with kindness and compassion... THAT hospital is fantastic and Dr. Justin Lui at SHC was AMAZING!!!!!! Rockyview... well, sucks... spare yourself the trip and go somewhere else!

Sarah syed-chaudhry

A very dirty hospital and parking is extremely expensive. Staff are generally indifferent, there are a few exceptions who are dedicated to their profession. Our health care system needs and overhaul Starting with hospitals.

Taylor Matusik

My boyfriend came here a few days ago due to constant migraines that were very painful. He wasn’t in any good condition what so ever. We waited and waited in emergency, and they kept on putting people a head of him, he got fed up and decided to go home, he was admitted to the foothills the next morning and turns out he had blood leaking from his brain. They refused to help him and do any exam, the nurse simply said “it’s just a migraine” and that “he should really go to his family doctor rather than emergency.” They should really take into consideration what patients are going through. The staff were rude and he could of almost died from this.

Jes'us Lagunas

Nothing but bad experience, we delivered our first baby here, when we went in labor we had to wait 8 hours in triage to move to the delivery room where they where pushing us to get induced or do a C section to rush us. After that we where send home with a newborn without any proper training. Now we are 6 days postpartum and my wife passed lots of blood out, figured we go to rockyview cause they have our file, with bleeding excessively they would let us wait for 6 hours to get seen. We left and went to south health campus where they are way better.

My husband and I had great experience in Rockyview. The nurses and student nurses are great, very friendly and has patience. Most of the people we dealt with here has been kind and caring. God bless you all in Rockyview General Hospital. Stay safe and thank you for all you do❤

There is a unit clerk named ‘Sandy’ that works in the Highwood Ambulatory clinic that needs to be immediately fired and removed from the premises. She is not only unprofessional, also verbally abusive toward patients. She would actively call patients ‘chubby’ and ‘fat’, and other just abhorrent slurs when she would walk away from checking them into the clinic. She and another nurse would actively bully people for wearing scented lotion in the clinic and yell at people for it. Bizarre behaviour. I have tried to report this person several times to AHS but have been given the runaround. When I was very sick back in January and had to be on IV antibiotics for a severe infection this woman made my experience incredibly miserable. I would never come back here for care because of it.

Ryan Coke

My experience with Rockyview General Hospital was beyond amazing, as well as my visit to the Eye Clinic. I firstly want to thank Dr Kherani and Dr Al-Sherif for the amazing experience and service that I have received. Thank you for explaining everything in detail to me in such a calm manner. Thank you as well for accommodating me with such a quick surgical procedure. Secondly, I want to thank all the staff from Ward 81: Linda, the Charge nurse and your amazing staff...Heather (RN), Odessa (LPN), Meghan(RN?) and Dr Sverdlo(Anaesthesia) and his resident and all staff from the OR. They had to work Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to make sure that I will be ok. Thank you again all so much for such a wonderful experience.

I just want to take a moment and express how much I appreciate unit 47 for taking care of my father. Majority of the nurses and staff were phenomenal. My father was not doing well and had stayed at this unit for several weeks. I didn't think he was going to make it to be honest. As difficult my father's case was they treated him with love and respect that is far more than I can express. They acknowledged him and didn't ignore him, when he was scared and weepy one of the nurses stopped what she was doing and consoled him. These nurses are genuinely kind, respectful, and loving and with all the hard work they face day to day they still made time to make sure my father was comfortable. Before going to this unit, the Rockyview hospitals emergency staff was also kind and consoling. Again my father was scared and was not understanding what was going in and again one the nurses that helped him stopped what she dis and consoled him telling him he will be alright and that he was in good hands, I would have to agree. Dr. Wong one of the emergency doctors that met us that first night my dad was admitted to the emergency was amazing, and was very respectful to all of us and is a good man. Thank you all for being there for us. God forbid anyone ending up in the hospital but would highly recommend this hospital. I am thankful for the staff for saving my father's life.

Minerva Kraushar

Re. NICU and postpartum staff Amazing. Just amazing. My son was born premature and we spent a few weeks here. Needless to say, the staff quickly became our extended family as 1, they were caring for my son and 2, we spent endless (sometimes very emotional) hours together. Our nurse, Anne not only cared so much for my son but also spent lots of time comforting my worries too. All the nurses saw me cry at least once and honestly, I could not have asked for better people to care for my son when I wasnt able to be there. I delivered my last two at foothills and if I had to do it all over again, I'd choose RGH any day. Parking is slightly better here too. -1 star for not having a pharmacy on site and food is way too expensive for healthier options.

Pearl Sickles

I love this hospital and the staff. Doctor Austen is a wonderful man and surgeon. He has a exceptional bedside manner. I've never seen this in a doctor before. It's a pleasure to have him as my surgeon.

Andrew M

Canada is going downhill fast, but im not allowed to say why. Nurses here (not all mind you) standing around yakking about where they went for pizza for half an hour in front of people suffering, I get it you have an incredibly hard tense job (that pays huge) and this is what our country is now getting, wont go here again even if its absolutely necessary, a veterinarian over this ffs.

Tahir Saleem

It offers 5 star service. I had to get an emergency colon surgery done for cancer and they got it done very quickly and provided excellent post surgery care. Calgary rocks. One of the best health care facilities in Canada.

Jeannine

The staff were great. I went through emergency for an MRI appt, and notice at the front door some carpeting that lookee like it had vomit stuck in it. It was disgusting, and strikes me as a poorly cleaned environment, and for a hospital? No wonder infection is rampant in hospitals. You would think they would at least clean up the obvious. Gross. There shouldn't BE any carpet in emerg to begin with! You could be doing much better AHS.

Bob Head

The comfort and care provided to Beverly, our dear wife, mother and grandmother during her last days was outstanding and remarkable. We simply cannot do justice by writing our very sincere thanks for the kindness shown to our entire family.

Deanna Ghantous

My experiences are varied depending on which visit over the years. The worst memory is of having my breast removed. Thank god for my best friend coming to help me shower. I was treated like a criminal by the LPN's, rough and cruel, no compassion. The RN's are overworked. I loaded up my wheelchair with my flowers and possessions and headed downstairs, rather than have this young woman come near me. Collapsed in the lobby and ended up in emergency. Felt for the elderly lady in the next bed, they treated her worse. So sad. My sister is in there today, she has terminal cancer, hopefully the care has improved.

Asfand Khan

I came with my sister to visit my mother who was just out of surgery and they would not let me through. First they told me that there were designated visitors and that we were not the designated visitor which I understood. They then told me I can call the hospital unit which I did and they told me that the patient could change the designated visitors and my mother did change it to me and my sister. When I confronted the staff at the front about it they told me that this means that we would be permanent designated visitors and we are not allowed to change this. Since we wanted another member of our family to be a designated visitor we called the hospital unit again and told them we wanted the family member to be a designated visitor and relinquish my sisters position to my family member. The nurse out of kindness told us on the phone that for this one time we are allowed to visit me and my sister but after we have to have a designated visitor. When I told the staff at the front a lady thought it was "weird" and went to call the hospital unit to "confirm" it. After talking to the nurse on the phone she said the nurse was not aware of the hospital policy and that we are not allowed to change the designated visitors and that we are not allowed to go. At this point I could tell they were playing games with us at first they were willing to let us go visit and then all of a sudden we are not allowed in I just wanted to visit my mother and they were just playing around with me and my sister and would not let us visit our mother. I would of given a 0 but there's no option, terrible experience. I understand that these measures are taken in response to COVID 19 but the staff members were not even aware of there own policies and kept changing them preventing us from visiting our mom and had the audacity to tell us that we should go visit their site to read the policies when they themselves did not know. Thank you for nothing :(

Very impressed with my experience at the Rockyview emergency care department lastnight. They were relatively fast for a hospital but most importantly all the staff were amazing! I had to leave a review because I saw multiple nurses and the doctor and was so impressed by how thorough they were with my treatment and how kind all the staff was. Working through a pandemic can not be easy but they took the time to make me feel comfortable and well taken care of. Thank you so much!

Shannon Blaschuk

A while back I had a nurse do something to me at this hospital that violates human rights in a major way. I have never had anybody treat me so poorly or treat me like a dog the way she did. People in jail don't even get treated the way this nurse treated me. I don't want to say specifically what she did to me as it is not only humiliating but also very traumatizing for me. If she did it to me, surely she treats others the same. I hope she loses her job.

Went in with breathing issues and chest pain. They made me wear a mask that made my breathing even more laboured for over 3 hours. Let the nurses know my condition was getting worse, and was completely ignored. Apparently a sprained knee is more important than struggling to breathe I left without treatment. It's shocking that the PLC gives better care to their patients than the Rocky view.

I gave birth to my last little boy here through a successful VBAC. AMAZING staff both in L&D as well as in Postpartum. Also the anesthesiologist who did my epidural not once but twice was FANTASTIC! I wish I had had my older 2 children here.

The worst hospital experience I have ever had in the world. DO NOT GO HERE unless you want to be spoken to by the immature, incompetent, and insecure nurses. I was astonished how as soon as I saw the nurse she was speaking very in a very confrontational, condensing, disrespectful manner. My private medical information being gossiped about in front all the other patients. The nurses started gossiping about my private medical information (illegal) in front of the whole open ER so loud in was echoing even in my room that was far from the desk. The loud gossip regarding my medical information went on for an hour. I tried to block it out, but they continued. Astonishing and disturbing that these public servants disrespect patients in this manner. I eventually confronted the nurses. They started to stutter their words like insecure teenagers when I confronted them about the gossip. They called security when I said “ You are public servants please have some respect and don’t gossip about my private medical information in front of all the patients“ I waited 4 hours. I left after being threatened by a nurse who said she would call security simply because I destroyed them mentally when I confronted them, they just couldn’t handle it, they got melted dude I’m talking red faces and all. It was really disturbing and it shows what a broken medical system we have. The people who are supposed to be the most caring are so insecure they have to gossip about the very people that pay their wage. Time to fire those nurses with that bad attitudes.

Wait times are unnacceptable. Lack of available Drs are unnacceptable.

They took great care of my father. The parking is a struggle though.

I had to make a trip into Emergency today and I was totally impressed with the treatment I received. I think they're doing a fantastic job.

Poor treatment by “Dr. Joe” and his nurses. Was told, “I dont care where she goes, the door, a chair, the hallway, the ground, get her out of here” and various other mental abuses over the course of four hours. Doctor refused to give his full name so all I have is Joe. I have recorded all conversations and will be filing with the college of physicians. Enjoy your check up with the college, Joe.

I went into rockyview emergency with gastronal problems. They got me in promptly, and I seen a nurse very quickly. After vomiting, a nurse helped me with the situation I was in and got me a hospital gown. A nurse took blood work, then the dr came in almost right away ordered a CT scan, and hooked up ECG monitor right away. They were very thorough and accommodating. Got me comfortable and kept running tests. Dr Cory was very awesome as well and got me referred to a specialist, also the result room nurse Ashley was also very accommodating and professional as well as personal. I've never been treated so kind in an emergency room. So thank you rockyview for taking care of me today. Much appreciate it

I was getting over Covid since I had it for a month and I bulging veins started to show on my leg and my husband and I called 811 and they told us to go to the hospital so we went to the urgent care and they transferred me to Rocky view Hospital. I had a CT scan done to confirm that I have a PE and when I found out I bursted into tears. The medical staff was so understanding and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible. When Dr. Lenz came in he put a smile on my face letting me know that the medicine was working and explained everything to me that was going on with my body. The nurse Jackie in ER was also very kind and patient with a great sense of humor that took my mind off my worrying.about my PE. When I was told I was staying the night the panic set in but they put me in the most beautiful room with a amazing view! I was happy they had a phone so I could call my husband and my family could call me. The nurses were great especially Simon and Izzy. Simon was my nurse and he was always there, I never had to push the red button and he asked me if I needed anything and was so nurturing with a upbeat personality that felt contagious. When I was too weak to walk out of the hospital he pushed my wheelchair to the taxi. I can't say enough good things about this hospital at Rocky view, Dr. Lenz was charming, informative and professional and went beyond to help me when I needed to call my mom to let her know what was happening. I couldn't ask for a better hospital and the food was better than Most hospitals too. What makes a great hospital is the doctors and the staff , I was blessed with both. Thank you Rocky view for taking great care of me so I could go home I love ya all! - Veronica ❤️

I had surgery in Dec. 10, from the time I walked into the Day Surgery upon till I left was an awesome experience. The day and night nurses who attended me were such angels. I don’t know their last names but Nurse Shannon, Ally and Kris were all wonderful, they treated me with respect and it seemed as if they went out of there way and offered little tips and help in other ways. I think Shannon or Sharon I honestly don’t remember due the the meds, she was one nurse I had after recovering, Ally was my night Nurse and Kris took over from Ally. I just wanted to thank you ladies and you made my time time very pleasant. I agree wholeheartedly that nurses are underpaid, the Doctors perform the surgeries but the Nurses are the ones attending to you until released. They’re the ones who have to put up with all the unpleasant patients on a daily basis, they miss their bathroom breaks, lunches and just time to take a breather and still wear a smile on their faces and some go out of their ways to make us the patients more comfortable. A BIG HUGE THANK YOU and keep up the wonderful work you’re doing. Sincerely L. Morgan

Emergency is terrible but going for testing here usually goes pretty smooth. The lady doing MRI’s came out 30 minutes before my appointment to let me know they’re a bit behind so I wasn’t surprised. I found that pretty considerate.

The staff at Rocky View is amazing. I had hip replacement surgery on Nov 25- 27, recovering in ward 81 (11). The staff all seem to enjoy their work and are equally cheerful, personable and professional. I want to specifically recognise and thank all of them who ministered to me. Five nurses (Amanda, Andrea, Emma, Susan & Tanner); two MRU student nurses (Genevieve & Nina); and two physios (Maija & Regina). I hope I got their names right; I scribbled them down as I was leaving, and only just got around to letting the Rocky View management know how wonderful they all were (and I'm sure still are)! Kudos to them all from a very grateful patient... George Eynon.

Nicola Herdman

Extremely rude Nurses and Receptionists. Not a pleasant experience at the Rockyview. Made me think at one point if these people had taken extra training courses on "how to be so rude at work".

In the emergency room and have not been seen by a doctor for over an hour what’s the point of even asking for help when no one’s helping you

I was one of the many people that were injured due to the very icy conditions yesterday. All the staff; triage, porters, CT, X ray, nurses and docter were absolutely marvelous!!!. Thank you I am very appreciative.

They take their sweet ass time and it's like they don't really care what's wrong with you I was sat there for 2 hours to get an x-ray then I had to way another hour for the doctor to come back and tell me about the x-ray all I wanna say is hurry your asses up

My 93 year old mother was admitted last Wednesday suffering from pneumonia. She was sent to unit 82 where everything and everyone was great. Then she got an intestinal infection and was moved to unit 72. They tried to take blood 4 times and then another nurse realized the first nurse hadn't taken the cover off the needle. Another nurse told my mother to take the pulse thingy off her finger and to toss it into a basket. Of course it began beeping for ages. And she doesn't get the food items she orders. Yesterday l went to see her and she was starving. She is also diabetic and weighs 93 pounds. All she had was a boiled egg and a piece of toast for breakfast, an egg salad sandwich for lunch and sweet potatoes which makes her gag and 3 meatless meatballs. She couldn't eat it and so she hadn't eaten until l purchased her a meal at the cafeteria at 8:00

Was there last weekend and the staff were absolutely Fantastic ! From how entered the Emergency from the start to how we were able to leave. big warm Hug from me to the Staff Thanks you

My Dad is on unit 47 and I find the staff been less than helpful, 1 LPN in particular, he was scolded for requesting help to get up so he could use the bathroom, when he was helped he was told that was the last time... therefor soiled his bed because he was scared to ask for help. He has clothes but they don't dress him because they figure it's easier for him to toilet himself if they only put a gown on him. The patients privacy and dignity is thrown rate out the window on that unit, my Dad has been walked down to the sitting room in an open back gown where you could clearly see his incontinence breif, also other patients ladies and gentlemen in that very same condition. It's incredibly sad to think because people get old their privacy and dignity deserves no respect, it's discusting really!!! If I could put a negitive on this rating I would, God bless all who do take good care of their patients there and do the right thing.

February 2020: having great trouble and a few seizures before going in, I went in to the ER in great pain... Then after failing to provide me any physical examination or medical care for a very serious female issues I didn't know about yet - hardly able to walk but they didn't care - ( physical problems discovered shortly after through MRI, surgery following 6 months later where they also found a second additional female issue), Rockyview ER dept kicked my out of the bed without any care but a very traumatizing conversation asking about my childhood past - I could barely get out of I was in pain- then told me to get out, calling me mentally ill (never in my life) and handing me some resource papers, then make me sleep on the bare wait room floor for 5 hours for the buses to start running. It was the middle of the night, I'm an epileptic and can't drive. AHS Patient Relations department and head of this hospital failed to correct my directed grievance to them twice. So now it's public. And I should add I have the entire experience recorded, for my memory reference- including the part where I got lost on the bus home because I was seizury.

I received amazing care in the ER when I went in for incredible pain. Awesome team!

Dr Lisa Harpur in psychiatry forges and falsifies medical documents and papers among other things and blatantly lies and does everything in order to sabatoge patients and abu ses and mis treats and makes in - appropriate di s gusting comments and is physically v1 olent as well towards patients she deletes all of her negative reviews and writes fake positive ones but the people deserve to know the truth and be warned she is a danger to the patients as well as others she is beyond ev 1 l and unstable and crazy herself

I am a few hours removed from having a kidney stone removed. While I didn't have a tonne of conscious facetime with Dr Metcalfe, I will say I was impressed by his staff. In fact, the entire Rocky View Hospital was awesome. The admin were awesome, taking excellent care of me in a confusing time. The nurses were really friendly to me even though I could tell they were very busy. I was well taken care of, and they were all genuinely nice to me. A huge shout out to the young man with the tattoos in the OR. He was just so friendly and calming, I can honestly say that his brief interactions made me feel safe, if that makes sense. He was welcoming in a way I did not think was possible for such a visit. The anesthesiologist had a great sense of humour, and the young lady with the kind eyes had a soothing presence. The surgery was a success, and did not take long. They were thorough and sent me for a CT to ensure that the laser got everything. I was cleared to go, and my ride arrived. Dr. Metcalfe took the time to call me and make sure I was ok, and filled me on on the details. The future has yet to be written, and being only 10 hours since I was put under, I still am feeling the effects of the day (owie) and fingers crossed am on a path to a smooth recovery. That being said, from a man who has never had surgery before, I am blown away by the compassion and humanity of my experience. Thank you Rockyview staff (especially the nurses), Dr. Metcalfe (Pew pew), and the man with the tattoos in the OR.

On January 24 2019 my grandpa passed away at the Rockyview Hospital. The staff were so accommodating towards both his and my family's needs on the day of and leading up to his death. I have to especially thank those that attended to him: Sultan, Iona and Renelda. They made him comfortable and even went the extra mile to ensure my family was cared for as well. They brought in extra chairs for the influx of family members who came to visit and provided us with fresh coffee, tea and cookies when they noticed we had been there for 5 hours straight. They were kind and gentle even when delivering the news that my grandpa's pulse was no longer present. I could not have asked for better care for my grandpa or for better service during our time in your unit. It won't be forgotten.

Emergency staff unprofessional rude, opinionated, i could here them laughing and joking about my asking for water ,pain relief ect. However on the normal units the staff were caring, attentive non judgemental and overall 10 out of 10.

More than pleased today. I arrived 30 mins early for my 'day clinic' 2pm appointment, expecting to wait a while. (didn't!) We were a bit lost upon arrival at the main entrance, when greeted by a 'retired' but hospital working gentleman who offered and escorted my husband and me to the proper department. Thank-you! (Sorry I didn't get your name) We were then warmly greeted promptly at the day clinic for my treatment. Enter Alison! Alison, you were wonderfull, so very very calming and personable! So lucky and thankful that I had you there today. You took the time to explain the treatment, expectations, and implications, you provided more information than the 2 'private practice' doctors that diagnosed me and forwarded me to hospital! Alison stayed with me while performing the procedure, keeping an easy and friendly/ chat throughout, keeping my mind pleasantly occupied throughout the procedure and 20 minutes or so afterward until I was able to leave. Thank-you Alison! Reception, so sorry I don't recall your names! I was a bit preoccupied/light headed. You were all so gracious, kind and efficient today. Thank-you.

My wife and I had our first baby at this hospital. It was an awful experience that has convinced me that we can not have another baby until we can afford private care. There had been quite a few nurses and doctors that had been quite good but the few nurses who made it clear that they dislike young families ruined it. One nurse treated me, the father, like I was an untrained dog. One nurse manhandled our newborn. One nurse didn’t like men staying overnight and wanted to kick me out - they make men as uncomfortable as possible so they’ll leave. Appalling! I made a formal complaint that was followed up on but the reality is that it’s just a burocratic machine following up on a complaint out of necessity, nobody will care. Canada is slipping into a state of economic and moral decline and AHS is leading the way. Our baby is doing great now. So is mom. Everyone is better now and our emotional healing is almost complete from this traumatic experience. Some may read this and think I’m being unnecessarily dramatic. I’d like to assure you that I’m not a dramatic person. I would rather understate things then over state them. This hospital is an absolute shi@& hole. I feel for every young family who has given birth here and taken the time to complain. My heart goes out to you and I wish you well.

My 11 daughter broke her wrist in Monday Oct 26 got a cast nurse was very rude when I was asking a question. Went back on the 28 cause her arm and wrist were swallen and in pain. They took her cast off xrayed her told me. Her wrist wasn't broken anymore put an splint on it and sent her away. Went to the children s hospital. They looked at the same xrays from the rockyveiw saw right away that It was broken and didnt know why her cast was removed so they put one back on. I have gone here 3 times in the last year and each time was treated very poorly by the nurses will NEVER go back and thinking of suing

Very poor service,I was in class, started feeling dizzy and almost felt on the floor.the paramedics were called in and too me to that poor hospital and I stayed there for 4 hours sitting on a chair with a fever and being 10 weeks pregnant and light dizzy and light headed. No one cared.when I asked when I was gonna see the doc the nurse responded "I'm not sure it could be in one or two hours or maybe more".They are careless.I had to leave.

Bernie Hazeldine

Trying to call doctor at Rocky view.they say call on the Aug 4 so I did and now they say call on the Aug the 9 .but no one is helping me .I am getting upset with them.

My dad died in the emergency room in 2011 after falling into a coma while waiting for care. I remember nurses or doctors chatting and laughing as my dad was dying. One guy had his feet up on another chair after he was officially passed on and I remember feeling so disrespected... They all saw how uncomfortable I was but didn't stop or correct their behaviour. I get they maybe do these things to maybe cope with their own stress as it would be depressing jobs otherwise but maybe save those behaviours for someone with a broken toe or something, not in front of loved ones of someone dying... Also my dad died 2 weeks after being sent back from the same hospital... Heart attack and stroke combo is what got him. I was the one who had to call a nurse over because a machine was quickening it's measurements.. wasnt sure what it was measuring.. if I didn't bring it up I don't think a nurse would have noticed..

My wife gave birth here and we couldn’t be happier with the service and attention we received. Staff, doctors and nurses were so considerate, helpful, professional, and friendly during the process and our stay after. Thanks you so much!

Accessible parking is atrocious as our van in too high for the parkade hight limit and there is only 7 outside spots Always a huge issue.not happy

I was here a few months ago for hip replacement surgery. I found the care was excellent. Everything was explained to me and I felt that I was in good hands while I was there.

Amongst Covid-19 and Anti everything folk I ventured out for a suspected Kidney stone. I was amazed at the professionalism and compassion shown me throughout the time I spent there. I have always known the Rockeyview has been exemplary over the decades I've been here but I'm so proud of everyone working through these trying times and maintaining Bravery throughout. Love ya all.

Mitch Vermunt

Went in delusional. Wait time 15 minutes. Great. Felt okay after 5 hours in the waiting room so I left. For mental health just go to South Health Campus.

Linda Hayden

Dr.Ryan chaung is a terrible and worst doctor on the planet.......i think this is my worst visit with a doctor ever .......he is disrespectful, irresponsible, lazy and rude.....it is very sad to have such kind of negligent person in a hospital with a great stuff and caring people like Rockeyview.

Sara Maisonet

I almost didnt go because I had already been to PLC for the same issue a year earlier and didnt want to spend the night in the hospital without answers again. Turns out I needed surgery. The doctors, nurses, and surgeons were amazing aswell as admitting staff and everyone else I dealt with. They made an appendectomy as pleasant an experience as one can have, I'm so glad I made the trip instead of going back to PLC

Trav R

Surgery went well, for a 15 minute surgery waiting 10 hours on. That’s not my complaint, my complaint is the nurses in the F department. First nurse was rude and made me feel bad for having a coffee in the morning, super condescending like I was stupid. The other nurse gave me my IV and left me there for hours without closing the curtain for my privacy or asking how I’m doing. They proceed to crack jokes on patients or talk about bad relationships, nails, hairstyles. I finally had enough tried to get up and close my curtain to find out only then she noticed I would catch my IV to my bed. Also these nurses made jokes about the doctor who was trying to educate them when he left, you should learn from what he has to say, On the way out of surgery I found two miserable night staff being rude to people in the waiting area. Please try to be more compassionate.

Linda Collin

very bad experience with the staff there . my mother 77 years old, french can't understand a bit only english. i was there to translate the situation but the nurse (man) told me going away they not need help lot blood came from her mouth and nose i show them Kleenex full blood , just told me to put that in garbage and going away, so i leave my mother there with cell phone to call me if in case they put her out too , hope nothing happen bad for her!!!! really bad SERVICE STAFF

I'll never forget being stitched up on my upper lip my a courteous and professional doctor. I waited 5 minutes to get in and was out the exit in 20. Great experience. Friendly staff. Clean and a nice location.

insomnia

The ER is a joke. Waiting 2 hours each (total 6 or more) at 4 different stages only to meet a dumb intern doctor and a ritual IV and making you sit on a chair with that IV for 3 hours to finish and then again waiting for results and no tests or results. Just Tylenol and IV - band aid solution and not actually finding the cause of disease. Just pain killer. I guess at home we get to sit comfortably and take tylenol than here sitting and waiting for hours only to waste time and pay for all the hours you parked your car. Just a fast food express joint under the name of care. So embarrassing and shame for free Alberta Health!

Gave birth here to my beautiful son in April. I was throughly impressed with all the staff. They made sure I was comfortable and helped me through trying to navigate new mom life.

Carol Begg

I recently was a patient at the Day Surgery x2, the people from the front doors, all the nurses, the porters, the surgeon, everyone was so appreciated. They made me feel safe and cared for. I want to let them know that what they are doing during this pandemic, I can't thank them enough. I hope you and your loved ones stay safe.

Hammad Shoaib

Pathetic and rude emergency staff. Treat you like garbage. Worse hospital of Calgary. Avoid at all costs. Don't let you drink water, disgusting washrooms, rude nurse. I was feeling dizzy and request a bed several times, but these animals made me sit on a chair for 6 hour to see the doctor while the wait time to see the doctor was 2 hours.

Maggie Pie

Such compassionate people working here. "You" are treated like family. Food has improved. Yeah, been here alot.

Bilal Shasamand

7 hrs waiting and not even a pill to help with inflammation on ankle, that can be dangerous...

Ron pet

Place is extremely dirty with COVID 19 crisis staff or AHS do not follow basic rules of keeping chairs cleaned or instruments or equipment 5+ hours chairs never got cleaned or bed sheets often don't get changed took 2 showers when I got home. Shame on you AHS. Hipicrites you Henshaw and Kenny preach but don't follow your own rules. AHS open your eyes. Rockyview Hospital. took notes on.

DAVID SHEEN

I waited over 3 hours in emergency when the online wait times had stated 2 hrs. Even when I registered they confirmed 2 hours. I ended up leaving. There also is no free or hourly meter parking. It is all expensive parkade parking and pricing. I would not recommend this hospital. Why are we paying for parking anywhere especially at a hospital? Most ridiculous thing ever.

My doctor was dr Lisa Harpur in psychiatry and by god it was the most tra-umatic scarring experience I have ever had. I have no words and am convinced she is the dev1l in human form. Something needs to be done about her.

Emily Green

I was at the waiting area this morning (November 21) and waiting for my family member. It was around 6:20-6:40 am, when I saw a young lady who had found few bills and told the staff at the receptionist desk ( in emergency department) that someone had lost their money and it was on the ground. The staff came and took the money but, looks like that they did nothing to find the owner who may have been in the patient area waiting room. Not sure if they later found the owner and gave it to him/her as my family member was done and I had to go home. Hopefully, they returned the money to the rightful owner.

Jen Nguyen

Called patient location to find out how long and where my brother would be after surgery. All the lady could say is I don't know and hung up on me. Very very rude. Not pleased at all with her attitude.

Heidi Halstead

very pleasant staff to work with! very helpful and hard working!

The care that I rerceived at this hospital was excellent in pretty much every sense, and honestly far exceeded my own expectations! I was, as I later found out, apparently not too far from being dead when I came to the hospital with inflammation on the right side of my neck. After arriving to the Emergency dept. I was seen by a doctor quite quickly (within the estimated wait time on the AHS site/app/monitors in the ER) even though there were quite a few other people, and from what I could see it seemed that everyone was being looked after in a timely fashion. After being examined by the ER doc, who I should mention had a great bedside manner (wish I had remembered his name, but it was the guy with glasses and a european, maybe German, accent..), it was decided that I need to have a CT scan and an X-Ray done (on top of lots of bloodwork), and I was taken to do both imaging procedures pretty much instantly after the Dr had ordered them! After finishing the diagnostics that the Dr had ordered, he soon came to see me again and let me know that my jugular vein was being compressed internally by the inflamation in my neck and I could've died if I had waited longer to go to the hospital (uh-oh)... He told me at that point that I'd be getting admitted to the hospital, and could likely be there for 2 weeks! After being officially 'admitted' to the hospital, I was transferred to a differnet section in the ER and a different Dr, or rather I should say several doctors, were looking after me, but it was awesome to see that the very first doctor that had seen me that day still came several times to speak with the new doctors looking after me and to check on me :) !! There was a slight issue in the fact that I was in an ER bed for about 1.5 days instead of being put onto a unit right away, due to the fact that there were no beds available. This was aggravated by the fact that they were waiting for a bed in the 'isolation' unit (i.e. single rooms) since at that point in time it was not known what was causing my inflammation. Nonetheless, my stay in the ER was comfortable by all accounts and I was still being looked after by the same 2 Drs who would end up looking after me for my whole stay, and was being provided the necessary treatments of IV antibiotics and streoids to reduce the inflammation. Once there was finally a room that had opened up in the isolation unit, I was taken there and was honestly surprised as it was a very nice room with big windows (i.e. lots of natural light) and big bathroom with shower. I really appreciated the fact that I could easily adjust the temperature in my room and it would actually cool/heat my room immediately as needed. There was also a TV with lots of channels that I could watch while I laid in bed all day for most of my stay while hooked up to a bunch of IVs. In the end, I ended up only having to stay 1 week (instead of 2 as was thought by the original admitting Dr), and I definitely fully attribute that to the excellent care team that was looking after me right from the time I was triaged in ER to the moment I was dischagred and provided with instructions and supplies for aftercare / home care! I have some substance abuse issues (which I was upfront with when speaking to my care team), and was concerned as always that I would be looked at/talked to differently or receive substandard care due to my issues, but that was not the case whatsoever! Every doctor and nurse were completely non-judgemental and supportive and I could truly see that their goal was just to deliver the best care possible to me, which I appreciate way more than what I can express in words in this review :) !!! All in all, I had an excellent experience at the Rockyview, and this experience definitley eased my angst in terms of being treated differently due to my issues when seeking medical care!! I guess I definitely shouldn't say that I WANT to come back here (or to any hospital for that matter), but I will say that if I HAVE to go to a hospital, the Rockyview will be the one I'll WANT to go to again :) !!!!

I am always there for over 20 hours even through im a true emergancy that could die in that amount of time.

Stay Home! It's a 4 hour wait in emergency right now. Jan 3 2020 7 pm. Beware the Parking. I had to go inside to pay for parking and it took a few minutes to get information (nobody are the info desk) and find the machine. I paid for 3 hours and when I went back to my truck minutes later, there was a $50 ticket already on the windshield. Also the paid parking is ridiculously expensive. You can park in downtown cheaper, even Vancouver parking downtown is cheaper.

K B

Had to go to emergency for a small cut for stitches. The staff were very helpful and polite. I didn't wait very long. The nurse and doctor were very personable and professional. They ended up being able to glue it. Only took an hour from walking in to walking out.

Doctors are negligent. Don't come here for delivery if you don't want your baby end up with cerebral palsy.

Avarage Shopper

Staff actually cares and keeps thing organized and tidy.

My 18 year old son was very sick with vertigo and was brought in by ambulance. The doctors were thorough and the nurses were very kind and understanding, as it was a very scary experience for him. He was there all day and they kept him until he was able to walk by himself and had the right medications to stop the vertigo and vomiting. I'm very grateful for such caring people.

I attended 14 July and waited over 3hrs in pain to be told it was a dentist I should see. At triage the nurse tried to put a staff who'd come with their dad ahead of me. Dr was sullen & patronising. Pray I never need ER in this city again.

Walter Nussbaumer

My wife was admitted to unit 49 initally the switched to unit 48 suffering from severe depression and anxiety. I must say it was the most disgusting hospital ward I have ever had the misfortune to visit. The food was slop! Most of the food I would not feed to my pet. No cold water or ice available in the unit itself. Most of the nursing staff was professional however there was on particular male nurse that had an attitude. He gave my wife the wrong medication and she suffered the next day because of it! Under the "Guide to the Alberta Mental Health Act" the hosital did not comply with sections 4.1, 4.9(1), and 4.9(3), still haven't.. No appology or acknowledgement of thier error. If you have a choice, stay away from this place Definitely NOT a place to be if you are depressed or suffering from anxiety issues!. In their defence though, I understand the mental health facilities in the Calgary region are the worst in the province and Rockyview is considered one of the better facilities, still does not excuse their actions.

Jennifer d'Obrenan

Exceptional and Excellent care from the Emergency staff, nurses and doctor this afternoon! Thank you much appreciated ????

Staff were especially compassionate and kind to us and to our sister prior to and during the time of her passing. God's angels on earth.

Good doctors but when I paid for parking they charged me ten dollars more I called the staff but they did not answer. When you come here park somewhere else unless emergency!

“Dr” Lisa harpur deletes all her negative reviews and writes fake positive reviews about herself. The people deserve to be warned. She is the most evil hateful malicious mean spirited old c you next Tuesday with nothing but bad intentions for her patients. She is not helpful in the slightest and will leave you in the worse mental state even worse then before. She is also extremely violent and abusive towards patients along with staff and is a major safety concern and made me feel extremely concerned for my safety

Sarah L.

Every single nurse here has been incredibly accommodating, sweet, kind and helpful. My grandma has been suffering in and out of hospital and more nearing her time. The staff have been so helpful in making sure she is ok and check up on her. I appreciate the nurses coming in with a smile. It helps so so much in the aid of my grandma and brings some cheer to the room. My grandma really likes the nurses and tells me they are good and fast at their job. Thank you to all the nurses at Rockyview!

Amy Kim

Will be writing an essay here shortly.

Jessie Mccaull

I have to go to this due my mom being sick. The nurses are overworked and unhappy. You can see a clear picture that nurses here hate to work here. I love the nurses way better at south health campus they are happy to come to work every single day. Health care needs to improve give nurses more money. Doctors get paid more but for whay they see their patients for like 5 mins and they dont listen.

Sierra Grace

This hospital is a joke. I wish I made the trip across town to be seen elsewhere. Appointment times mean nothing to the staff here and they will leave patients waiting, in extreme pain, for over 2 hours past there scheduled appointment with no explanation or pain management.

Chris Mac

Sheets had holes them...my floor was cleaned twice...because I did it I even picked the paint off of it. Other than that house keeping came once in 12 days. Minimal doctor exposure, the nurses were great...good bedside manner and great deportment... I only seen a doctor twice.. Both less than 30 seconds

Rosalee Mosson

I just want to express how amazing my experience was yesterday!!! Yesterday I went into the emergency room with a cold around 12:00pm. Although I waited in the waiting room for a long time the nurses and doctors were exceptional!!!! I had blood taken from three separate spots and the two ladies that took the blood were super friendly and made the process a lot easier. I seriously can’t explain how friendly and amazing these nurses and doctors were. Not one of them was rude or inconsiderate. Even the lady who did my chest X-rays was super friendly and amazing!!! They were all super helpful as I was an 18 year old there alone and helped me get the medical attention I needed. What made me mad was when I was getting an IV, two other people were also getting IVs and they were absolutely disgusting to the nurses and doctors. Saying stuff like “I asked for water 5 minutes ago” and “were not leaving here without answers” so on and so forth. I was there from 12:00pm-7pm. It was super busy and the fact that these patients treated them like slaves infuriated me. Especially since they were absalulty amazing!!! Thank you so much emergency staff!!!!!!!!❤️

Shao

It's been two weeks now since I had my baby boy. Wonderful experience with RGH. Big thanks to Dr. Whittaker who delivered my baby. And big thanks to L/D nurse Mae and postpartum nurse Sophie and Danielle. You guys are wonderful. I won't be able to do it without you guys.

Andy Zheng

Terrible response time for emergency patients but pretty good rooms for patients staying on the upper floors. Also barely any communication between nurses and doctors, leaving patients confused of when they will be released.

Lily Zhou

It’s an amazing experience. 13years, it’s my first time go to Canada hospital. Never know it will so nice and wonderful experience. Always heard that need wait for very long time. But when I went to the emergency, they immediately put me to the 6th floor single room lying on the bed. The nurses are so friend oh and nice. Talking with me so softly and sweet. The hospital so big and neat. I had my first experience on the wheelchair here. And it’s Christmas season. Everywhere on the wall can feel the Christmas. Even the nurses have little Christmas hat on the hair. So lovely.

C C

Very good experience at the labour and delivery here!

Quite easily the most disorganized hospital on earth.

Unless you have bleeding hole in your skull medical stuff in this Hospital ER mostly likely would not take your health/mental issues seriously and try to help. Most likely, after long wait, you will be sent home. I had quite serious reaction on prescribed medication. Doctor there did nothing to help and told me that he can't help me and sent me home. Maybe in order to make them more responsible it is time to introduce in Criminal Code charges for medical negligence. Also in Alberta The Medical Liability Reimbursement MLR program reimburses physicians for part of their Canadian Medical Protective Association dues and other malpractice insurance. Maybe it is time to save taxpayers money and instead of paying their dues and other malpractice insurance spent these money on new hospitals, MRI & CT scans etc...

Nikhil Trivedi

General Cardiology clinic staff members are so polite and very helpful.

The staff is very friendly and hard working. I was in the ER on Friday and the nurses were very attentive and kind. The patients were the ones who were rude. These people work hard!

Dr Lisa harpur deletes all of her negative reviews and writes fake positive reviews about herself but her mis treatment of patents/staff and a b use is a major safety and health concern she needs to be removed and should have never been allowed in medicine and to work with patients/others In the first place

I went to Rockyview General Hospital 3 times in 2 years. From the very beginning and to the end of my medical needs, my experience was very professional, fast paced, and certainly a memorable one with the whole entire staff. It is an excellent hospital overall!

I went in with a close to severe allergic reaction. I was in agonizing pain covered in itchy burning hives. That didn't seem to make a difference. After 2 hours and a half I was put in a room. I sat there for quite a while. Scratching and squirming. There was a lady in front of me seating in front of the screen absolutely ignoring me. Turns out she was the doctor seeing me. It took her about 5 minutes to see me. She gave me a pill, not even a fast acting shot! Just a pill that would take hours to work. The quality of care has really declined at Rockyview. I suggest go somewhere alse if you have the means.

I had a day surgery on March 10th. This was my first time ever being admitted to the hospital. I am so grateful to the doctor and nurses and for the kindness & care I received from everyone there. Their staff is truly amazing. Thank you all!

Amazing and helpful staff right from the front line volunteers (Muneeb), registration, doctor and most amazing nursing staff (emergency unit F). Had to go in close to mid night last night needing a couple of stitches, process was streamlined and everyone was most friendly and helpful. Thank you Rockyview emergency staff and volunteers

A typical hospital with friendly staff. The only problem that the hospitals have in Calgary or maybe the whole country is the amount of time you have to wait for a doctor. I was sick and went to the hospital as there were no walk in clinics open on Sunday. It took the doctor about 2 hours to visit. I know my problem wasn't that serious but 2 hours is really long. The nurse gave me a wristband which had my gender on it as a female but I am a male! Hopefully that doesn't happen to anyone else visiting this hospital!

Was in with torso convulsions due to overdose by family doctor and misdiagnosis 11 years ago. What has caused the muscular issues associated with all SSRI etc and ssra is the ATP at the cellular level. If you have used these drugs long term and have muscular issues you are in trouble. I have 8 spinal discs with damage and intercostal muscle issues that I am having a hard time healing due to being ignored at all calgary hospitals specifically at this one by Nathan Lawrence, via dr. Mew and Dr Bowen. I have spent 60,000 dollars with fine medical treatment in the us. My structure is now fixed but I M fightk g to rebuild what my body naturally produce with cardio aerobic exercise.

I went there because of an extreme pain in my arm which has been there since more than 2 weeks and I can’t lift my right arm. I was recommended by another doctor to visit the hospital since they couldn’t exactly figure out what it is. The first nurse I met before being called into the admitting area, goes to another person at the front desk, talking about me while my boyfriend was sitting in the waiting area. She called me pathetic for wanting to get my arm checked and she was laughing at me , making fun of me. I was there to get my arm checked after being recommended from another doctor, The arm in which I have an extreme constant pain and I can’t even lift it. Literally what kind of staff do they have? That goes around and make fun of the patients? Pathetic service. Would never recommend anyone to go to this hospital.

Good general hospital, the staff was nice and helpful. The wait time was a little too long but other than that. It’s good to visit.
