My boyfriend needed an emergency appendix removal surgery, we went to ER and the way people in the waiting room were acting and treating staff was ridiculous! If you have patience and kindness you will get that in return. If you're in emergency expect to wait 3+ hours no matter what your situation is, it's not a walk in clinic it's a hospital. We were treated with nothing but kindness and respect from the staff. Want to give a special thanks to the nurses that helped my boyfriend while recovering Aiden and Wendy they were both fantastic and empathetic. The only bad side of this hospital is the lack of parking and organization but that is to be expected of an older building. However overall our experience was amazing.

Neither myself nor my family have been actual patients here, but one of the nurses or administration kept calling me due to a phone number miscommunication from whoever they were actually trying to contact. Holy wow were they rude!! The voicemails left sounded very impatient and had no information and I couldn't tell what they wanted. I ended up answering and was greeted with an angry WHO IS THIS? To which I responded and said they have the wrong number. Immediately they cursed and hung up. If phone calls are like this I can't imagine how they treat people in person. Bad reviews from others suggest that they're consistently rude here. Thank god my closest hospital is the UofA one.

I would give this hospital a zero if I could, the doctor and nurse man handled my knee and told me to go home after me telling them I’ve been in excruciating pain for a week. I waited in line for 15 minutes just to get checked in, they are absolutely terrible!! Dr. Mazurek was completely inproffessional and rude, and had no sympathy for my injury at all!

Jacob ferg

Why do we need to pay so much for parking?? 2.25 every half hour and $40 for a week? Disgusting. And why do your employees have to pay for parking? Is that even legal? You guys should just abolish the parking company and start your own with either affordable or free parking to people with babies here or for patients with serious condition etc. Disappointed.

Jakob Lauridsen

Great emergency room. They are busy like any big city hospital, but super professional and friendly. The nurses and doctors that took care of my 4 year old in pain did a great job and clearly care alot about their patients.

David Kerr

This hospital is always clean and well staffed from my experience. They deal with matters in a very diligent manner. I know when I have to go to this hospital I can have peace of mind that I am at the right place.

If I could give this hospital a 0 star rating I would worst experience of my life. I had my daughter there by elective csection the nurses were rude to me tried to force breast feeding on me wouldn’t bring me bottles of formula cause there to cheap didn’t tell me about medications that my doctor had order for me that I could take for certain pains I was having because they are to cheap to give out medications they told me I could give my daughter a soother they didn’t bath my baby I had to make them do it. 2 months later I got a letter in the mail saying that the pressure level in my operation room was to low and I was at risk for infection. If I ever need a surgery again and my doctor at the time works out of the misericordia I will switch doctors to go to a different hospital

vahid ghadiri

Worse hospital ever with horrible nurses!!! They are all rude and wild and.. They even don't know how to talk to the patients. Here was the worse experience in my entire life..

Becca LH

Honestly the only thing saving this rating is the NICU staff, who are amazing. Post partum is a joke. Half the nurses there can't be bothered to check a patients chart, nor do they listen to patients. L&D is hit and miss. I've met great staff in there but there's one doctor who just totally dropped the ball- badly.

I was almost dying In the emergency room and was in a severe amount of pain then finally got rushed into surgery after waiting 4 hours to see a doctor, nurses at the emergency front desk are very inconsiderate and prejudiced

Cassandra Vanderwolf

After my last few conversations with L&D I will be giving birth at another hospital. The nurses were rude and not helpful. I was very taken back by this. So I definitely don't want to deliver there.

Leah S

Just had an emergency c section last night. Felt very informed and taken care of. From the nurses, doctors, anesthesiologist, I actually had a very pleasant experience. Thank you!!!!

Mohamed Elsanabary

I had a horrible experience with this hospital. I went to this hospital by EMS at around 5:20 pm. I was so sick and couldn't set at all. Waited until 12:00 am with no help just sitting on a wheel chair!!!!! The triage called my name around 12:15 am, expecting me to answer the call, so ridiculous. I got rolled to the nurse. I tried to explain to her that I can't sit any more, she said "you are free to go to another facility" isn't that rude!!!? This hospital is lack of professional staff!! That nurse should be fired!. Finally, at 12:30 am I admitted to be seen by a doctor but still sitting on the wheelchair because they don't have a bed but finally got one jn the hall way!!. I would like to thank the doctor who was professional and helped me quickly and released me after giving prescription. The hospital needs a strong management system.

Normally this hospital used to be my top choice but for the past couple of visits it was awful! I mean the nurses and doctors are great but it's very chaotic. My boyfriend waited in the emergency room for over 4 hours to even get into a room and then waited an extra hour in the room just for the doctor to come and he had a potentially dangerous leg injury! Waiting for that long, the waiting room is so uncomfortable and gets crowded. Even coming back the next day with a specific appointment for an exam took forever and we waited a couple more hours.

Why do all the female nurses at the misericordia have such bad attitudes??? Always so demanding and rude too. Everytime I say thank you. This one nurse just said "mhm" in a very annoyed tone. Others just ignore. This is why I like the Grey nuns better. They know proper manners. The surgeon I had was great and same with my doctor in emergency room. But literally 99% of the female nurses are rude

Nicole Metz

Although I’ve been in the “patio waiting room” for six hours I have to say the nurses are some of the kindest people I’ve ever encountered. It’s disgustingly busy, everyone here is very very sick and very very miserable. There are people lying on the floor, there are people vomiting into trash cans, screaming in agony -it’s clearly not a good day to be here. The nurses however are fantastic, kind, compassionate and very overwhelmed. I’m very anxious to be seen, diagnosed and hopefully sent home. Thank you to the ER nurses for doing a job I would not do for all the $ in the world.

Gail Milliken

My father a senior was taken by ambulance to emergency .. I called to see if they needed any information due to recent surgery he just had or if I will need to drive to pick him up would they like my number ... Rudest unhelpful person for a hospital .. no help .. the medical system is crumbling

Veronique Champaign

Who ever is in charge of hiring staff here From janitorial to nurses and doctors You need to read these reviews to fire your careless staff. And get janitors who dont nelect mopping up unrin. Hospitals should be sanitized and disenfected should there shouldnt be any kind of odur of any kind left behind

Nickolas Cage

Keep us waiting for to long, From 9pm until 1am, this hospital is getting worst in their service.

Cory G.

Terrible experience. Try hiring more staff to accommodation your patients. Stabbed with a knife in the hand 9pm . Sat and waited 3 hours only to see people with ankle Sprains walk through the doors and be treated. Outrageous. I am bleeding out and in severe pain. Went home and Stitched my own hand after seeing these amateur doctors trying to be adults. ALSO.. ++++++ Drive to Spruce Grove or Stony Plain Hospital if you want to be taken care of quicker and more responsibly. It's worth the 30 min drive.

rahil verma

Worst experience ever. Emergency doctors don’t know the course of treatment and are highly careless especially with pregnant women. When ultrasound needed to be done right away, they made me wait 9 hours.

Tiffany Delaney

This place truly cares and digs deep to make sure problems are solved with comfort. That speaks volumes. Never treated like a number. My huge gratitude to all staff

I didn't know that this hospital has so many horrible reviews here. I was going to share my horrible experience but after reading other bad reviews, looks like there's no point. If these reviews were effective, then there would have been a noticeable improvement. I must admit that some nurses are great. One nurse even refused a doctor's order to send the patient back to the waiting room while there were empty rooms available. However some doctors and the nurse who does the assessment before the doctor sees you are rude and pathetic. AVOID this place if you can.

Worst hospital. Unless you're literally bleeding to death or a new parent with a baby who's got the sniffles you'll be waiting 10x the posted AHS emergency wait time. So many people abuse and confuse the Emergency Service with a walk-in clinic that everyone ends up suffereing because nothing is taken as a priority.

Went to this hospital for testing. Nurse doing the testing was very rude. Thankfully it only took an hour (although the woman who booked my app said it would be 30 mins). Somehow my file was mixed up with someone else so she had the wrong medical history. She had to apply gel to my scalp and gave me no warning that she would be "scraping the dead skin" off of my head with the syringe tip. She was scratching so hard that my eyes were watering like crazy and she told me to stop moving around.... she cut my forehead and didn't even say sorry about it or offer me a Kleenex. She even scolded to get off my phone although she had not started yet and made me shut it off although I was just messaging my ride to let them know the eta.

Long wait times are common here. If you have a smartphone, download the Alberta Health Services app for wait times. The Health Link line 811 is also a good source to check wait times.

Had some gravel removed from my knee, the nurses during the day were sweet, Visited the ER. Last night, it was empty, lovely and quick to get inside, and apperantly i was the first on the list to be seen, 2 hours later, there was still noone to answer my 1 question... horrible attitude on these nurses that i met... After the first hour siting there, i asked about the delay. And they took it very personal as 3 of them were standing chatting, joking around for 45 minute . Too much for saving lifes when you cant answer a question on probably one of your slowest nights. I walked out after the second hour... im finding it hard to beleive there was a dr. In there at all yesterday ... or he was sleeping?

Nathan Warkentin

A great hospital, they seem to care for their patients.

Good hospital. Not the largest or the newest. Small ER. Be prepared to wait.

I have lived in the Edmonton area for 20yrs now and have been to several of the hospitals for a variety of reasons. (5 children born here and several surgeries). The Misericordia may be the older and outdated, but older outdated has always had amazing service and staff. No matter who I have gotten from delivery nurse to emergency staff they are amazing. Very knowledgeable, great bedside manner and they really do care. They do not just give you some pain killers and send you on your way so you an return the following day, they find out what the problem is and fix it. Wish I had the $$ to donate to this amazing hospital.

I delivered my first baby there in January. I had a pretty good experience with L&D. Thank you Dr. Fyfe Brown & Lisa D for that amazing experience. I love how the nurses were so informative, understanding and positive. I was worried about tearing and Dr. Fyfe Brown did a technique that I was surprised she knew because I wasn't aware doctors know and practice it but she was able to deliver my daughter with no tears! Lisa D was such a great support for me, I wish she could have been my nurse in the postpartum unit. I don't know why everyone was so surprised that I was smiling and laughing while I was giving birth I had an amazing time LOL! I loved the team that was working with me. The postpartum unit and care... meh. Not sure if its because of covid but i didn't receive any of my meds that I need daily and actually felt forgotten lol. you can fill ur own water bottle due to covid, and the nurses were forgetting to bring water or just to come back with things I needed, I remember waking up once on my second day there dehydrated. I had to ask a couple nurses to bring frozen pads because one would forget to bring them etc. I didn't find the hospital dirty either just outdated. Overall I had a decent stay. I think its important to have the nurses explain a little bit more thoroughly though, on certain things when it comes to baby like taking vitamin D, cleaning the cord and stuff like that because I was very misinformed and after I left I had other mothers ask me "oh they didn't tell you about this and that when you were discharged?"

Anna McMurray

Whoever is answering the phones to book appointments needs to be given hearing aides and some customer service skills. They didn’t hear me even after repeating my information multiple times. Lots of awkward silence and mumbling as they tried to figure out how to reschedule. They basically acted like I asked them to do the impossible and was so rude while I explained why I had to reschedule. If this is the first impression people get, I can see why people choose to avoid seeking medical attention. Train your staff better.

Better luck at a medi Center, less wait time too

Cristina Gutierrez

One of the WORST hospitals there is. You will die early if you go to this hospital. Unless you are "critically-ill", they will let you wait for a minimum of 6 hours before a doctor will see you. When its finally your turn, they will let you wait in a make-shift check-up room along a narrow hallway where patients and nurses are walking back and forth. And before the doctor will see you, the nurse with a piece of scratch paper in hand, check your vitals LOL (What a joke, they can't even afford a decent board so its easier to write and somehow professional to look at) I just thought, seriously are you even going to put that on my file or toss it out once you're out of that curtained area. Front Desk cant help you in terms of at least giving you an estimated waiting time. They dont know, that's what they would usually tell you. Protocol for suspected COVID-19 patients is now gone. Back to normal as even if you are showing symptoms, you wait at the same room where most of the patients are. After waiting for 6 hours for nothing, and you are fed up, you still have to pay $2.25 per 30 minutes for using their guest parking. Disappointed taxpayer here. ????‍♀️

We came for cognition issues with a senior patient and they have been absolutely wonderful. From the admissions to nurses, technicians and Dr, everyone has been attentive and kind with a positive attitude. Thank you to the medical staff, who despite the current political situation, can still hold their professions above it all. Show your gratitude at every turn because they deserve to know that we, the public, have their backs.

With a history of working in Hospitals I seldom attend an emergency room without feeling there was severe issue or being told by health link. I was in severe abdominal pain with burning sensations radiating out my back and pelvic area for 9 hours before coming here. I have a history of hiatus hernia and ulcers. I sat in the waiting room for 5 hours bent over in pain and sweating from trying to suffer through it. A drunk sleeping man was brought in before me as well as a guy who was hit at a bar. Parking app and machine wasnt working and I was too weak to stand there trying and security said nothing they could do. I was triaged at a 3(moderate-mild) and finally decided if I was just going to sit and suffer I should at least do it in comfort or attend another hospital!!!!!

I have been into this hospital three times for arthroscopic surgery, maybe its my doctor but all three times I've had a great experience. Everyone was very knowledgeable in their respective areas, asked a lot of questions to clarify information and the care by the nurses on the day ward and in the recovery room was exceptional - they were all very friendly and caring. I wouldn't hesitate to use this hospital again - as a matter a fact I am - hopefully for the last time!

Sitting here in Emerg for the last four hours.. there are more important cases than me... But I am watching the meanest most miserable person.. a nurse. She attacks people as soon as they come in the door.. so so sad.. yes I know there are a few weirdos tonight.. but man oh man.. she's the poorest excuse for a nurse... 400 pounds of miserable... I hope all these people file a complaint ..

I went to the E.R a day after their did surgery because of my knee bleeding while sleeping and waited 6 hours while slowly bleeding took a hour and a half to be admited while their had a guy with a bleeding head and cheek only wrapped basically and took 6 hours also for him to get stitches a guy who had surgery there yesterday also was there but his stitches fell out all their did was put a pad and tape on it without fixing his stitches and a lady who couldn't walk at all because of her foot swelling up and every half hour for like atleast 4 hours she would cry and scream in pain and when i left after seeing a doctor she was still there along with a kid who had a swollen eye that was quickly getting bad like alittle bit of bruising when he came in and half a hour later it was so puffy he couldn't open his eye or see at all and his eye was black and purple all their did for me was put poly sporin on it and rewrapped it just told to check it daily if it gets worse then just come back but never going there again to slowly bleed out for 6 hours while light headed and see people who are badly hurt and being forced to wait while the nurses acted to look busy and chating while slowly bringing people this wouldn't take this long at other hospitals this the hospital your doctor sends you to if their hate your guts but if its for surgery you may be better off as long as your stitches don't fall out or nothing goes wrong

I went into the emerg department yesterday morning, for a d and c on the advice of my ob. My experience was a great as can be expected given the situation. I waited about 6 hours before my surgery, which is to be expected for a non emergent procedure. The ER nurses were fantastic, and super helpful. They could see my distress and discomfort and did whatever they could to help me feel relaxed and calm. When I finally met my OB-Surgeon, she was fantastic. She was reassuring and took all my concerns seriously. I have a severe phobia of vomiting, and she made sure my anesthesiologist knew, and gave me every anti-emetic available. I never saw her after my surgery, but the nurses in recovery and my room were fantastic. I was able to go home about 10 hours after I arrived at emerg to recover at home. Yes the waiting sucks, but it's to be expected and I'm more concerned about the care I receive than how long I waited, and I received great care. Definitely recommend the Mis for healthcare.

This is less as suggestion but more a massive thank you. On February 14th (Valentines day) I was skating at West Edmonton Mall, being a typical man and not thinking with his head and showing off. I ended up going full tilt into boards and breaking my leg. I had an amazing amount of people help me from some random arab doctor who was in mall and saw it, to the firefighters who came, to the mall medical help, then finally to the people who picked me up in the ambulance. I wish I could remember their names so I could thank them, but during the pain I totally wasn’t thinking straight and didn’t have a chance to do so. Although the wait was long at the hospital it didn’t matter. People constantly go out of their way to complain about things with no regard for the men and women who are doing their jobs trying to help us. Although it took a few different doctors to figure out whether my leg was broken or not everyone who I interacted with was so kind and awesome to deal with. It was a busy night for them. I ended up having to stay there for the night and having surgery the following morning to get a titanium rod in my leg. I had an amazing surgeon by the name of Dr. Torrosen (i hope i spelt that right) as well as his staff working in the OR. I spent the next couple days recouping being the Ortho floors clown for the medical staff as well as the tours for the students. I had many amazing nurses whom of which I cannot remember all names but they were constantly helping me from the time I arrived to the time I left. I even had an amazing physio lady who put up with my sarcasm. This was the first time I’ve ever broken a bone in my life and stayed in a hospital for multiple days. The only other time I was in an ambulance was when I was like 5 when my throat closed during a croup episode. I’ve see so much rude comments online about this hospital. I disagree with it, I had an amazing experience there. If at all possible I would love to have the people who helped me see this. I think they deserve some appreciation. They all were amazing. (Almost made breaking my leg worth it). Cheers :)

Terrible experience. Still here over 7 hours later and haven’t even seen a doctor yet for possible stitches. Been here since 10:45 pm and it is now 5 in the morning and all that’s happened is we went to a room where it was freezing cold. Doesn’t help that it’s a busy weekend either, should be staffed more or something.

Just had my baby here, it was a emergency c section. The staff that helped and reassured me when I was in so much pain with contractions and even in the operating room were so greatly appreciated. Then when we got checked into our room our favourite nurse was Morgan ( night shift ) she was the sweetest person . Wish we could’ve said thanks and goodbye when we checked out today. My experience here was good.

My daughter gave birth on November 3rd in the evening at the Misericordia hospital. She was discharged the next morning at 10am, sent home with no blood work taken from baby nor was the baby bathed. By 6pm she's back at the hospital because she's having very bad pains all in the right side of her body and her whole right leg is swollen. As soon as she gets there they put her in the hallway put in an intravenous and it's not even put in properly. Her arm starts to swell and starts to tingle, she calls the nurse several times and she gets totally ignored. My daughter ended up having to pull out the intravenous herself. She was also told that she still has some of the placenta lefted in her and that's what's causing the pain. Come tomorrow morning I'll be phoning lawyer

Be more empathetic and helpful towards patients. We don’t go there for lecture sessions about how you feel about us or getting attitudes because you are tired of dealing with patients. It’s your job to help patients and be empathetic. Patients like myself go there for a reason and not to waste doctors or nurses time. I’ve been to this hospital few times because of good experiences in the past. After the kind of treatment I got today, I’m never going back there. Very rarely these reviews have impact on services.

Thank you to all the staff at the Misericordia, especially the nursing staff in section 3-E. My wife had a difficult pregnancy and ended up having to stay there one month prior to delivery. The staff were all very thoughtful, kind & attentive. From tending to my wife's medical needs to just keeping her company. All around great people doing excellent work.

I was in the Coronary Care Unit for a week recently. I want to thank the staff for the excellent care I was given through out my stay. From the moment I was admitted to time of discharge the physicians, and nurses were in attendance instilling confidence, calm and hope for a good outcome by the way they explained everything, ensured time for questions and concerns, cared with the heart, and always professional. This attitude permeated the whole unit including the clerical, housekeeping and kitchen staff. They proved in this day of economic difficulties, and far too many sick people to be cared for by too few staff that excellence, and knowledge, respect and camaraderie are still out therein the Alberta Health Services, sincerely Monica Bisley ps. I liked the morning prayer over the intercom.......time for reflection.

It's totally not fair that this hospital is rated so low. Maybe it used to be bad, but it's great now. I went in with very bad abdominal pain. After a while it went away, but my doctor insisted stay for one more test. Glad I did because I needed my appendix removed. Despite being extremely busy, they managed to fit me in and get that done same day, and released the next day. Every single person on the staff there was welcoming, helpful, and understanding (not easy sitting around waiting for surgery by yourself because Covid

This hospital deserves higher rating than it has. My wife delivered both of our daughters here. Everyone was so kind to my wife and helpful. I see alot of negative comments, that's the opposite of what I have to say. Great experience all around for my wife and I. We just had a baby boy and couldn't be happier with the staff at this hospital! It was a long, challenging delivery ending up in emergency C-section. We went through many nurses and doctors over the days and every single one was kind and professional in both Labour and Delivery, and Post Partum. Thanks Misericordia!

I have never written a review before on any place I have been to but this place is so worth 5+ and even more of I could. I had a miscarriage and was in extremely pain because my cervix was tightly shut and everything was just sitting there in top of it. The first nurse that tended to me was extremely sweet she was comforting me and giving me warm blankets to help the excruciating cramps. Then I waited a little while and this male doctor that was extremely also sweet was talking me through what had happened and this Russian nurse came in with him because I had to do a Pap smear and she omg made me feel so so so so comfortable and Was rubbing my hand to comfort me while I was getting a Pap smear with the doctor that made me also feel comfortable by talking me through what he was doing. The ultrasound lady was also absolutely a gem, she was comforting so so much I honestly forgot for a while I was having a miscarriage just because everyone was so sweet. The gynaecologist lady and her team made me feel so comfortable in the surgical room and the anesthesiologist did a great job putting me to sleep. The nurses afterwords were probably the best nurses I’ve ever had in my life. Every person tending to my needs was extremely sweet and made me feel so comfortable. I had my delivery scheduled for this hospital before I miscarried, but when I get pregnant again I know for sure this Will be the hospital I will deliver at. Like I said I would give this place even more than 5 stars because I felt so comfortable and had a great experience. I just loved the team I had! Highly highly recommend this place!!!

The last time I went into their emergency department I was having an appendix rupture and this girl Jessica at the emergency desk took 5 minutes to look up from her phone. Then, once I got into see a doctor "Andrews or Adamson"...? I couldn't lay down for CT scan because I was having pain displacement and would go into convulsions when I laid down because it felt like there was a knife In my collarbone. The doctor forced my Mom and I to go home and come back when I could lay down so my Mom and I signed the document "under duress". The next day the doctor "Andrews/ Adamson" called my house and told me to come back. I still couldn't lay down so I forced myself over the next day to lay by using ice packs and heating pads and sheer will. I also think the rupture had happened so it wasn't such a sharp jolting pain. So 2 days later no sleep/ no food the doctor tells me to come in in the morning. He made us wait 13 hours in emergency before admitting me to a hospital room. There were a particular couple nurses who don't stick around long enough to ask for an ice pack (because I wasn’t taking morphine) and a jello or ice chips so when you ask for the second thing they snap at you "what else can I GET FOR YOU!!!!??!?? 3 days later, no food, I was diagnosed with sepsis, appendicitis and had a drain in my stomach. I was set up with a picc line and on IV therapy for 1.5 months while being told the organ would calcify. After having severe convulsions for 3 months I was finally given a surgery and then was told that I had a hole in my bowel the whole time and was going septic. Before the surgery happened my surgeon told me to go back to the hospital to get a CT scan because they needed it before my surgery and Jessica at the emergency desk was again extremely rude to me, acting as though I was wasting her time, her words were, so you just decided to show up here at 5 in the morning? Like yeah lady, I've been having convulsions for 3 months and going septic but I'm great, thanks for the 3rd degree as I'm literally still at a 40% chance to live based on what the surgeon said.... Certain people should not be in healthcare and this hospital should seriously look into having a superior come in to observe their practices because this emergency room is terribly run. If I'm ever near death again I'll be going to the UofA.

Ortho Clinic, Dr. Cinats - 2 knee surgeries since 2013. Both at the Miz. Nurses are lovely, thank you to Karen and the others anesthesia makes you forget! Make your appointments early in the day and you won't wait much. Be direct and they listen to your concerns and actually take action.

I had surgery here, and after a few days was having some issues. I went in today at 11:30am after calling 811 and my doctoea office and being told to go to emergency. I sat there from 11:30am till 5:30pm where I was called and my details were put on my wrist. I then waited till 7pm without any acknowledgement, while watching everyone go in. I was told that they only have me registered from 5:30pm and essentially all that waiting didn't count and it would be another 6 to 8 hour wait, and that I made a bad choice picking this hospital. Well if its an emergency, it won't be one by the time I get on, thats for sure. Garbage place.

Lee Hauck

Waited four hours, my file got lost in the shuffle and decided to leave , all I have to say is don't get sick in this country as you may be very disappointed in the level of care received, very disappointed especially after the level of taxes that are being paid.

Deb Lane

My mother went by ambulance on November 24th, 2016. She waited there for over 5 hours while everybody else was in and out. When I asked at the desk, they said it's because she needs a bed . Because she was bleeding internally she would have to be admitted .That makes sense. Ha ha. The sicker you are the longer you wait!! I believe this long wait was the reason why she developed hospital-acquired pneumonia her first week there and almost died from it. She did pull through that one of the doctors and the nurses were all quite shocked from it, but my mom was a really strong woman. She also had COPD so it did take her a while to recover along with the gastric bleed Etc. By mid-December she seem to be recovering quite well. Then they decided to reduce her oxygen levels down to a 1. She couldn't breathe. They would not increase her oxygen levels insisting that she was retaining carbon dioxide, she could breathe and she just has to get used to the new level. Now I know my mother and SHE COULD NOT BREATH. They allowed her to go home for Xmas for the day even though her breathing was horrendous. When I brought her back on Xmas night I got the nursee to leave her oxygen levels up till I could talk to the doctor. I explained to the doctor that there was something else wrong, it's not just the carbon dioxide thing and could he please do a blood gas test on her. He said there was no reason to do a blood gas test and they were too costly. A blood gas test will tell if she retains carbon dioxide or if there's something else going on. I've asked a few times for this test and they never did one. Anyway she got worse and worse and they did chest x-rays ....they found fluid on her lungs which they knew was there before but they didn't realize how much it was it turned out to be litres and litres , they couldn't drain it all at once. And, when they started draining it, they lost the order for draining it the first time and they they promised me they still get it done that day. I stayed till 8pm..they kept telling me they were still trying downstairs, I finally went downstairs and no one was there...Pathetic liars!!!. I got there at 730 am so as not to miss it as they don't have a time, just a day. A bunch of lies upstairs, they weren't planning on doing it!!! Whenever something went wrong instead of telling you the truth if they made a mistake they just lied about it. They would make a promise about a test or procedure, and then they would say no we didn't say that we said this... just lies. And I did talk to Patient relations . I talked to them for the last three weeks before my mom died and all they told me was what they read on her file, and they said that if she had multiple things going on and none of them are that serious according to what she was reading and a few days before my mom passed she finally went down to see my mom and she told my sister-in-law.... Oh, I did not realize your mom was this sick?!! Really...She had 3 blood transfusions, flu along with pneumonia, pneumonia 3 times, her lungs drained twice, one collapsed lung, one heart attack, and a plugged windpipe.....Which they may have discovered earlier had they done the blood gas test and realize that she did not have carbon dioxide retention. She couldn't breathe because one of her windpipe was clogged that's why she couldn't breathe. That and all the fluid on her lungs .....one of her lungs was collapsed because it just she couldn't get any air and the other one was full of fluid. My mother was seriously I'll and there was no urgency in her care. I feel my mother died because of negligence in her care by the doctors at that hospital!!!!! PS. Most of the nurses were awesome and overworked ! If you're seriously ill I would stay away from this place !!

DR. DARREN W NIELSON, I wish I could give this "doctor" zero stars. I had already seen my family doctor a few days beforehand and done some blood work but was told to go in to emerge if symptoms persisted or worsened. It was 3 a.m and I could not handle the horrible pain I was in. I had terrible jolt like zaps in my head almost every minute that lasted about 5-10 seconds. I went to the Mis because it was the shortest wait time. I got into a room very quick, the lady at triage was super unfriendly, looked at me as though I was garbage, but I had high hopes for a doctor. I waited about 35 minutes in the room, which actually is not bad at all. But Dr.Nielson walks in and just immediately says "so you have a headache?" And I said no, this is definitely not a headache. I tried to explain to him the 2 weeks worth of crazy symptoms I had, including multiple swollen lymph nodes and a rash like feeling on my scalp where I had been getting zaps of pain. He barely talked to me for 5 minutes, he was extremely rude and condescending and just kept telling me I had a tension headache. I told him my doctor tested for shingles and he crossed his arms and rolled his eyes and with a sarcastic, snarky voice said "You can't test for shingles." I began to cry as I was so frustrated with the pain I was in and and embarrassed by how this "doctor" treated me and would not even give me the time of day. As I sat on the bed crying he said " You can change and go home" and he walked out of the room. Not that I was expecting a hug or crazy sympathy or anything, but I was in genuine pain and wanted some answers. I KNEW this was not just a headache because of the all the other symptoms I had. So I left, got home at 5 a.m. and did not sleep. A day later I went back to emerge, in a different hospital, because the zaps were so bad my entire body was seizing up. Turns out I had bacterial lymphadenitis and a lump so large it was pressing against the nerves that were causing the jolts of pain to the side of my head. I was almost too embarrassed to go back into the hospital, I did not want to get scoffed at for going in with "just a headache" but it turns out this could have been pretty detrimental to my health if I left it any longer. I now have to go see a neurologist in a few days. Dr.Darren Nielson at the Misericordia is the by far the WORST physician I have ever seen. I have never been treated so poorly by a so called doctor. I understand he probably works long hours and is tired, but seriously, have some respect for your patients.

From a nurse that abused my dying mother over 'protocols' by ripping a shield off her face that other nurses put on nearly taking off my moms ear, and shoved a mask on her face as my poor mother was in full panic, to a doctor that the nurses were constantly calling to come see my mom and never showed up, to even as she lay dying her walker being stolen. There were other good nurses there and I am thankful for them, but the way my mother was treated, is disgusting. That uncaring singing nurse (who i believe her nametag said jackqueline ) should find another field as if you treat a dying woman that way - you are in the wrong profession. 3 days to get her blood tests, and they kept losing her pain medication even though the pharmacy is downstairs. I am grateful we got her moved to another hospital, where she passed just a few hours later in palliative care surrounded by truly caring staff, in a clean, bright environment.

Dr Petrick (i hope i am spelling his name correctly) took really good care of me, He ran all the tests, xray, blood, even a Covid test, thankfully all were good, negative... i had a scare with my breathing and thought i was having a heart attack... So thank you to all, Simon, Katie, Kim etc, they are the BEST...

Faye S.

I had superb care from Dr Toreson and all the staff here at Misericordia (including nurses Johnn and Judy) for my hip surgery. A very friendly, skilled and understanding team. Couldn't have received better care.

Janet Flynn

Thank you to the amazing staff and volunteers in Misericordia Hospital and NICU for your treatment and outstanding care of our Grand daughter, Daughter and Son-in-law. A pandemic is a difficult time and that didn’t keep you and your staff from shining. God Bless you all.

ABANDON HOPE ALL YEE WHO ENTER HERE: I went into the ER here with terrible pain/symptoms in my core/gastrointestinal tract. Waited over seven hours (until 2am) for them to only run a urine test on me. I insisted on more tests, the doctor insisted they weren't necessary--as if I don't know my own body. She said to "take Advil". Naturally, over the month it only got worse. I eventually went to the Red Deer hospital and they actually did their jobs unlike the staff at Misericordia. I waited maybe an hour or two at most and it was far busier there(the room itself was much nicer even.) After running PROPER tests like blood, x-rays, CT's, colonoscopy they found that I had Crohn's, an abscess and a fistula. They actually did their jobs and I'm currently waiting to undergo surgery. Not only did Misericordia not bother actually helping me whatsoever, but there was a five year old girl with a broken wrist across from me for about 5 hours. Their 'doctor' wound up going home halfway through the night and as a result they admitted that they had "forgotten" they were there. This place is remarkably unprofessional. If you want to die, look no further. The doctor and staff really couldn't be bothered to help me or apparently the girl across from me either.

They lost my chart and so it took forever to get me my prescribed medication by the doctor. He prescribed hours ago. They tried to take me for a scan but I was so uncomfortable I wanted my medication first. They the threatened to call the peace officer because I wasn't be cororprative. I said go ahead. They are now scrambling to find my chart. No peace officer has been called.

Came here because of a bad uti. Turns out I was in septic shock and it was actually a kidney infection. They seemed to be on it the first day... Besides the horrible covid waiting room... It was a nightmare waiting in there while cold and with a migraine. Then the second day... No treatment. Every time my fever gets bad it takes over an hour to get any help. I've even tried to call them early and it still got bad before they got to me. No anti biotics.. No tests. It's one am and I can feel the pain getting worse again... Never should have come here.

Alfred Steinborn

Would give 6 stars if I could. Yes, it's an old building, but the staff from the front door screener to the nurses and doctors are incredible (no, my dad does not work there). Such a positive vibe and so many people that truly care in treating people who often are at a very low point in their life. When it comes down to it, staff are the lifeblood of any hospital and we are so lucky to be located so close to such a great facility (P.S. keep up the funding to bring the building up to the 6 star rating of the staff).

Brynne McDermott

This hospital really needs some TLC. The construction can’t come soon enough. It’s really unfortunate that I had to sit on a stretcher in the hallway with zero privacy whatsoever while listening to sick people cough and vomit. The doctor I had was amazing and made me feel comfortable. However they did give me a dirty bed with someone’s wet blood on it.

Franco Syrnyk

I was born here!!!!!!!!!!

Dawson Alexis

My girlfriend went there and ended up waiting 7 hours just for an ultrasound, then an additional 2 just for her chart its crazy how long people wait ! So unprofessional compared to the nurses in other wards !! Not to mention those nurses in ER are rude !! maybe they should find a different job

Awesome Dude Bike Co.

Calvin Enokson

The staff are friendly helpful and caring. Doctors are amazing. I believe that the care they give is the best available. We have had numerous visits in various wards that have been initiated by bad experiences. It has been good to leave each time in better shape than arrival. The Emergency is smaller than required with a far greater population in Edmonton than it was designed for 50 years ago. However they do well with what they have. 2020 UPDATE: Here I am a year later to say that the emergency department is getting an amazing brand new wing, complete with much larger ambulance bay. This presently under construction and should be able to handle west Edmonton’s emergencies for many years to come.

I would like to thank everyone who helped me during my visit to the hospital. Despite being very busy I was handled very professionally and was made as comfortable as possible. I am also happy to announce the “birth” this morning at home of my very first kidney stone. Thank you Dr. Wheeler. I was in too much pain to remember your first name so I have decided to name my stone Wheelie. I can’t wait for his siblings to decide to come out. Seriously though, I really did receive great treatment and I really appreciate all the staff’s help.

Michelle M

The folks here were amazing and prompt. I was in emergency for 20 minutes flat before I got hauled in due to mild cardiac event. They listened to my concerns and were warm. However, I only had about half the amounts of tests I normally have in the case of cardiac events, and one doctor didn't even know there was such a thing as an event monitor (holter monitor for 2 weeks to track tricky events). I have had more thorough examination at the stony plain hospital.

Tyler Childs-Villeneuve

I went in because I had a pain below my ribs and by my back. I arrived at 11:40PM and wasn't able to get a bed until about 3am. I know these guys were doing what they could and I was happy with how accommodating and helpful they were to me. It turns out I had a gallbladder issue so the surgery was planned and went amazingly. Yes my pain and discomfort made my time difficult there, but the nurses and the doctors all did what they could to make it just a little bit better there. Dr. Berg was heading the surgery and I cannot thank him enough for getting that necrotic organ out of my body. Shout outs also to nurse Katie when before I had my surgery she did everything she could to help me and nurse Kelsey who I had after my surgery during my recovery who made the resting time a lot easier to deal with. I want to thank so many more such as Ken the guy who was with me in the recovery room and everyone else who helped me along the way, I couldn't remember everyone's name as the pain I was in was excruciating but know that I appreciate everyone's help! Thank you all!!!

My kid was born here. Not sure if it was a social worker or a doctor. They said to my face " we are only letting you leave with your kid because you stayed the entire time". What kind of dictatorship allows this? Yes, this is to discredit the hospital. Enjoy! Because of the actions of this employee I will give this hospital a -5 out of 10. Thanks

Mariane Charms Murphy

I had a wonderful experience with Misericodia Hospital. I just had my surgery yesterday for hysteroscopy, D& C.Even though not allowing my husband with me for support due to covid protocols, the team of health care professionals made me feel so comfortable. As new canadian with asian ethnicity in this country, I sometimes felt discriminated in some places but not in this hospital. The team of nurses, anesthesiologist, aids and my doctor are very nice, informative & supportive. I am still in the road to recovery but I am glad I allowed them to do my surgery. I hope my review helps.

Leah Condez

as soon as got there we got attended right away. we did not wait too long like the other hospitals. most friendliest staff, doctors, and paramedics. my family received A1 service especially our mom has language difficulty.

Bikila Aga

Not clean. I saw nurse picking oral temperature measuring tool from dirty sink countertop and putting in patient mouth. I am telling you do not go there if you love your self.

Kirk Dewhurst

It’s to bad that a hospital will get such a low rating when so much life saving work goes on here. The hospital itself is older and has had some mechanical problems and some water line breaks for some flooding. From a service standpoint I found the staff to be pleasant and courteous from the ones I interacted with. The areas I was in were clean. I was there visiting a friend who was in the cardiac unit because of a heart attack. It was apparent that he was well taken care of. We visited for a while in the family meeting room which was comfortable and nice. On a personal note my wife had 2 mastectomy surgeries here due to breast cancer in 2010 and 2017 and both went great. The care and help from the staff was amazing and both surgeries were successful and after treatment my wife has a clean bill of health today.

Ash Lynnn

Years ago i was treated so poorly by the staff it has causes great stress and severe anxiety towards hospitals. Realizing all the rights the staff violated when i was there really hurts. I was so wrongfully treated if i knew i had rights i would have filed a complaint. I cant now but i can warn other people that some of the staff dont follow proper legal procedures.

Rajib Sikder

My wife delivered a baby boy in this hospital and we are very satisfied with the service. Before going to this hospital, I checked google reviews and felt disappointed. But the actual service was exactly opposite (super super good). Their maternity and postpartum section are just amazing. All the doctors and nurses were super helpful. I would like say a big big thanks to all the nurses who provided service to my wife and child during our 4 days stay there. Overall I would highly recommend this hospital’s maternity and postpartum department. You will be in good good hand. Keep up the good work Misericordia Hospital ❤️❤️❤️

Tasha Lewis

Was not at all happy. Went there because I'm in preterm labor and no one helped me I wasnt registered even by the time I walked out and they didn't even know I was gone. My baby was really stressed out staying there as was I. The whole hospital was dirty and smelled strongly of urine. Probably the worst place to have a baby.

MarkushaX

Had to visit emergency with unexpected problem. Service was amazing. Of course, at the time I'd wished they would abandon all other sick people and worked only on myself.

I broke my ankle and tibia on Saturday January 22 and had to wait for surgery for 4 days. During this time I as in the orthopedic unit floor 6 east wing. I have never been so appalled by the staff. The various staff members were loud, shouting down the hallways to each other while people were trying to sleep. Banging around with the cleaning buckets, just ridiculous. I asked the nurses to tell the staff to speak quieter and the response was"she is always this loud!" Its a hospital, people are sick! One of the nurses (there were many) tried to give me the wrong meds. They were for a patient coming off oxycontin. There was a dispute with two nurses of where the patient was to be taking for which tests. There was a nurse who told an elderly lady she had an irregular heart beat and asked her how long she had this. The elderly lady said she was unaware of this condition. This set her into an anxiety and panic attack where she thought she was dying. This nurse had no right to say this in such an incompassionate way. For the surgery I had you are to be kept for 24 hours, I was out the door without seeing my surgeon with release papers that had the wrong surgeons name on it. I told then the doctor's name on the release papers was not who operated on me, I left the hospital later that afternoon. As always the food was awful,. The elderly lady across from me was Celiac. She was given food she was not supposed to eat and felt sick. I felt so bad for her. She had a very tough surgery on her leg and the nurses were not very kind. She kept her spirits up so as not to upset the staff. Yes, the staff who would come in at 3:00am to throw the lights on and speak as if we were deaf. I would ssshsshh them everytime. Unless this is your last resort do not go to the Misery Hospital. COVD was irrelant in this ward. I would have to say the idea we are short staffed may be true in ICU but not where I was. This unit needs a shape up.

This amazing lady treated my wife's really really good (can't stressed it enough) she made my wife life much easier in a hard time like giving birth, I will forever remember her name as long as I live. Not what I expected from what once was a terrific hospital. I am sorry, the place is pathetic and not organized. The emergency staff nurses/ doctors are horrible, there isn't any compassion or sympathy for people who are really sick. I waited 4 hours in a room and no one came to see if i needed anything. They are not the nurses of old; my mother was a nurse there a long time ago and went on to teach nursing as a instructor at the Misericordia school of nursing. So you see this hospital is in our family roots. I am so sorry it has gone downhill. Now I have to live with this horrible pain because I left the ER. So, if you are going to be in this profession do it to make a difference.

Sara Williams

I took my son to be checked he had a nasty fall and it looked awful. I went to the registration signed in and was put in the waiting room. As with all emergency rooms you are put on a list from to be seen or dying. It was handled in a timely manner. I felt my concerns were heard, I saw a doctor, my son was examined and after being informed of his state we left. The personal at registration and the nurse's there are doing the job the best they can amidst a pandemic. They are appreciated and in my eyes are even more so appreciated. Thank you.

solomon eluwa

This is the absolute worst hospital. The nurses at the emergency kept my wife for over 7hours and kept letting others who came after to see the doctor despite Her complaints of agonizing pain. The most useless healthcare workers.

Terrais Savior

Really bad hospital. If you are in fear of your life, please go somewhere else. The nurses sd not care about your condition. They socialize way to much behind their desks tarath then attending they're patients need, like going to the bathroom or getting a glass of water. Absolutely worst service and care I've ever seen. This place needs to be sure down and the staff re trained.

This is the WORST emergency place to go to,I got rushed there because I couldn’t BREATHE,and all they did, they just told me to go register myself and then just to go to take a seat afterwards...I was waiting there for 8 HOURS!!!! And still didn’t got any doctor attention, and then I just left.Avoid this place biiiig time..

I spent 2 1/2 days in the Emergency Department. I sincerely commend the doctors, nurses, technical . support and porters. They all are very "patient concerned". They make an effort to check with the patient regularly inquiring if they require anything. The patient awareness comes natural to them. Wonderful job Emergency Department Staff! Bernadette Beitel

Elizabeth Hunter

The staff is very rude and mean. I have visited my father on numerous occasions and my experience is always the same. Rude, abrupt, negative staff. It only takes a moment to listen to someone's question, but no, even this is too much to ask of them. It is a shame. My father is a very kind man and always appreciates the people that care for him and even he has nothing nice to say. I understand nursing is a difficult job, especially now, but still courtesy and care is required, is essential.

Kiana Badry

My boyfriend has always had a clean bill of health. so when we had to go to the Misericordia because his heart rate was elevated, blood pressure was (terrifyingly) high, and blood sugar was high, we were both scared. He was met with skepticism and lectures on how he has too much weed. (he had less than a joint an hour before we went to the hospital and he had been doing weed for 3 years, and this never happened) When somebody with a clean bill of health tells you there's a problem, no matter what they've been on,take it seriously! this entire endeavor was unacceptable and unprofessional

I had a fall a work and my left arm was very sore, ended up I couldn't bend from the elbow it was terrible pain. My husband took me to Misericordia Hospital, they triaged everyone that came in, then registered me. I sat in the waiting room for approx. 1 hour then the Dr. came out to see me, ordered a x-ray, I waited about 20 mins they took me to get my x-ray once done we went back to waiting room another 20 mins if that and the doctor came out told me what was on the x-ray then I went in to get a sling. total time at hospital was 2 1/2 hours. Not bad at all!! The doctors and nurses were on the move trying to get people in a timely manner bravo!!!

Charlene Martin

So disappointed........

Carol Chan

I was here with a friend last night-this morning. The wait times are horrendously long and the triage system is awful. My friend watched as people who came later than us, suffering from rashes and stomach aches went in and out before us. I watched my friend steadily decline. When I went up to the triage desk to ask for approximate wait time and why it was so long, I was told they needed a specific room for her and that was why they kept bumping her back. It wasn't until she started experiencing chest pains and a dropping blood pressure was when they finally made an effort to have her be seen sooner. Word of advice, ask questions, if you are being told that a "Specific Room" is needed for you. Go elsewhere. I will finish off with one positive. The nurse named Felicia was wonderful!

Lexi Miller

I had my son here in late March and the L&D nurses and doctors were absolutely amazing. They were all so kind and caring. They checked on me ever half hour at least and came right away if I needed help. Every nurse I had was so sweet to me. Unfortunately my experience in recovery was another story. The nurses there were pretty dismissive and made me feel like a burden. I was only checked on once through the entire night and I had to ask more than once just for some Tylenol or a bottle for my son. Plus the nurse who gave my son his first bath was not gentle with him at all and seemed like she was in a rush to get it over with. I was also not informed that my son tested positive for jaundice and had to find out once I got home from the home visit nurse. It’s a shame that the two units have such a huge difference in their level of care.

I know Covid is to blame for a good portion of my experience, but even still. I was asked to come in for what was described to be as a simple surgical procedure. After arriving at 6 AM as instructed, I spent 13 hours waiting to even find out if I was getting the operation done that day at all. Eventually I did get the operation and was then told I could leave shortly afterwards. Except the afterwards never came and after waiting ANOTHER 3 hours post operation, and being told I could leave, I suddenly told that nevermind, I am not allowed to leave until I see another doctor. Who knows when that will be. I just wanna go home.

A friend went here for appendicitis surgery. After spending 3hrs in the ER, it wasn't until the gurney was all but there that they told her to remove piercings and nail polish. And on her discharge they practically kicked her out. And the doctor prescribed her antibiotics with both of the items she was allergic to in them, one which causes her to go anaphylactic shock. If she hadn't have asked the pharmacist to double check, she could be dead because of something that was supposed to help her.

I was there on July 8 for day surgery. The reception, the nurse, the doctor, every staff are friendly and helpful, they all helping each other to make the process go smoothly, some even though wasn't their responsibility. Thanks.

Had both my kids delivered here. No private or semi-private rooms available either times, but they've got fantastic nurses on staff. Emergency, on the other hand, was super slow. I think I'll do my own stitches next time.

Refused to give medication to people who just got out of a car crash. Different visit they said they would get a girl who is vomiting all over the place and turning purple, a room but no over 20 hours still no room. Also her medication is too weak and she’s still in pain after 2 hour and are only medicating her every 4. Worst hospital ever. Would rather die than go here.

My daughter received excellent care delivering her first child. The nurses, doctors, and student nurses were approachable, attentive, and professional.

I was born in the misericodia in 1983, I have been at all the hospitals in this city and this is by far the BEST hospital here. I have always in my 35 years has had amazing service from the staff, nurses and doctors. I am not going to lie I did have one very rude nurse when I was in labor but I told her she didn't have to be so rude and I complained and after that everyone there was amazing. Ended up having an emergency csection but the doctors and staff were amazing trying to keep me calm and comfortable and the anesthesiologist was really awesome. I am very scared of needles but he walked me through it told me what to do and I barely felt a thing when he put the needle im. When I had my appendix removed in 2002 everyone was awesome. Very kind, gentle with good bed side manners. Of course your going to get the odd rude nurse, doctor or staff member, but it's not very often in my experience and everyone I know who goes there. Best service and hospital. I don't see how its outdated like most are saying, it's a great hospital with great staff

Giving five stars to the endoscopy unit - all the nurses and staff I encountered were very friendly and kind. Not only to myself, but with other patients as well. I was a very anxious patient today, and they answered all my questions and got me in and out very efficiently, all the while making sure I was as comfortable as possible. Thank you to everyone I encountered today :)

Nurses were top notch, food awful Dr who delivered my baby was rough and made me feel more stressed than I was from my contractions. My private room was so hot I was uncomfortable. I was exhausted after a long labour and assist with my newborn was lacking. One night was enough for me. But their nurses are great.

Afrika Beck

If I could give 0 stars I would. They belittled me and my boyfriend for coming in because of his severe migraines. The lady saying “it’s a headache” and making us sound stupid for coming in. This lady pulled him onto a chair right after a NURSE told her to keep him on the bed because he was so white in pigment because of how much pain he was in and from puking. They were laughing and making jokes about him while I was standing there and he’s there in pain. It made me cry, and they just stood there giving me dirty looks. Wouldn’t give him water or anything no matter how much we asked. They let people who were able to move and speak before us even though we were first. We have gone to other hospitals and they have taken him seriously but they were so brutal to us. Please don’t come here.

Artem Chupin

Slowest personal, emergency room is not quite an emergency it’s been three hours and no help or consultation.

Christina Schindelka

Avoid this hospital if at all possible! Took my husband here with breathing issues and pain. Four hours of waiting and he still hasn't been seen!

Shannon Routley (Disbrand)

Great service, well oil machine with typical bad hospital food. My spouse had an MRI appointment. Service was well-communicated and equipment was up-to-date even though it is a bit of an older hospital. Garden Cafe was... laughably bad. I mean, you go to the basement in the morning and are suddenly struck by a wall of bad smell. A smell you are soon to find out that is emanating from the egg bin. I only assume it is a huge vat of stirred up eggs, over boiled, sulfur smelling.. just off tasting scrambled eggs. Hash brown was pure canola oil goodness. Bacon and sausages were Grade Z. Having to wait a couple more hours, and still with a horrid taste in mouth, I thought I'd try their Canada Day hamburger special. It came with a side of 'salt and vinegar' potato sadness. Again, fried in the same oil. The burger meat initially look good, but alas, there was something off. There are other options, from Tim Horton's and packaged items like yogurt. It took me a day to recover. Stay safe out there..

Got there at 12:30pm for reassess as I have a collapsed lung (Left Lung) I started having pains on my right lung and I let them know and that I was feeling really dizzy along with the pain. I waited there in pain for 5 hours after they only told me it would be only be a hour and that X-ray's are priority I am not to sure where they got that info but I waited way to long for absolutely no care I left because I am not going to waste my day away as you nurses and the doctors are in the back making jokes and laughing to each-other when you should clearly be working on helping the 25 people waiting in emergency. IF YOU'RE ON BREAK GO TO THE LUNCH ROOM DONT STAND THERE AND MAKE IT A WASTE OF OUR TIME A XRAY SHOULD NOT TAKE 5 HOURS TO PROCEED. Also multiple other people were there over 7 hours already waiting. Just to top it all off they constantly kept coming out and calling people that were not there if you are going to be that unorganized maybe you should have a talk and figure it out.

Very old hospital. My post partum room was very small even though it was private and cost more. NICU is beautiful. Nurses in there are very attentive

Info Chicken

The ER here is always busy and the staff pay little attention to you even when you’re actively bleeding or in terrible condition. You’ll probably end up waiting hours before getting real attention from a doctor - speaking of doctors, the doctor I saw was very friendly and professional. After some scans and tests, they found my problem and got me all fixed up, so at least there’s that. In summary: you will get treated, but there will be a long wait beforehand.

Bryan Vazquez

Great workers, great staff. Only issue was the wait time.

Manish Shah

Really great place and carrying people

I gave birth to my daughter in December and the entire staff was fantastic. I was terrified being rolled into the surgical room and prepared for a c section, the most caring nurse just grabbed me and hugged me and I bawled. She was so considerate and she didn't even know me. I was there again more recently in the day ward having surgery and once again the nurses and doctors were absolutely amazing. They made me smile and even laugh when I was so nervous and scared. Yes, it is old and they are trying to keep up with demands but isn't that everywhere in Alberta? The people are what make it and they make it fabulous!! Thank you again to anyone working there!! You are truly amazing <3

Need better management n more staff in emergency. Waiting time to enter room 1.5 hrs ,for diagnosing 2-3 hrs, Have to go outside for ultrasound. For results and to see dr. again …another 3hrssssss…. Terrible n horrible Better stay @ home ????

ICU Dr. & nurses could not be any better, the same goes for ward staff considering some patients that they have to deal with who are constantly complaining.

Had my son here last week. The labor and delivery staff were horrific. They kept me in labor And pain to the point I started to hallucinate. Eventually I passed out from shock/pain and missed his birth. I was also berated for wanting to bottle feed while in labor by the nursing staff. Deliver somewhere else! Nicu staff however were great!

Do not come here if you value your own or your loved ones health. 4 hr wait. Was forced into some makeshift room that used to be an emergency entrance. Can guarantee it does not get cleaned regularly. It's for the unvaccinated. Best of luck if you gotta lie down, because all you'll get is the concrete floor. My explanation fell on deaf ears, as to why I was there. It must be covid. Worst patient, Dr experience I've had. Upon admission, was forced into a room with covid positive patients, that sounded like they had one foot in the grave. Sore back got blown into something that could very well take my life. Try other methods before going to any hospital.

Jaimie Kempenaar

Amazing staff, nurses are really dedicated to the job they do.

Spent a few hours in Day Surgery yesterday and the service was exceptional. I'd have no hesitation coming back here.

Wonderful nurses. Good food. My son was very well cared for by Dr nutting and team. Thank you for good experience Emergency service very, very busy and slow but good caring doctors. Thankyou Great nurses in endoscopy:-)

***UPDATE TOOK MY DAUGHTER TO STOLLERY WHERE THEY CONFRIMED SHE INDEED HAD PNEUMONIA AND THANK GOD I TOOK HER THERE AS ANOTHER DAY IN SHE WOULD HABE BEEN HOSPITALIZED*** My 4 year old daughter was forced by a nurse to go in for a chest xray alone. When she was screaming and scared and I told another nurse to tell her I was coming in the nurse told her no that I was not allowed as it would make her job harder. Was then told by the doctor that my child temperature of 40.8 for 2 days was not a concern that it can get higher because they longer look at temperatures as a risk. She has lost close to 2 pounds in a week and that as well was no concern. Her oxygen was in the low and mid 80s yet he chose the 1 time it hit 93 for a split second as her reading. Will never take her there again and we will be going to the stollery to get her the proper care. This disgusting filthy "hospital" is a joke!

G&N Rasul

My mom was brought to Misericordia because she collasped and in pain. From start to finish the care give went steady downhill. EMS was fabulous! When we finally got a room in the ER the nurses who looked after mom and Dr Mallet were amazing. You could tell they cared. Since mom was waiting for a room to open up upstairs the nurse gave us the phone number for their unit to call so we would know if she was moved. Next day moved to the "holding room" forgot the proper name, Harlan and Kelly there were super. Told us mom would be with them less than 24 hrs before being moved upstairs and gave us their contact info so we could anytime. Finally moved upstairs and the worst care ever. The nurses if they were nurses were too busy socializing then caring for patients. The Dr Riaz was horrible wouldn't even speak to my sister saying she was too busy. She didn't even see or talk to my mom until the the she released her. The Dr actually stood at the doorway to say go home and rest there is nothing wrong with you. What happened to patient privacy?? If there was nothing wrong why did she collasped and in pain and barely walk??? Also no one contacted me, her caregiver that she was being released. Other hospitals have always called to let me know and give me 24hrs to make arrangements. Thankfully my sister visited that night and talked to the nurses so got to pickup mom the next day. Leaving was a joke. Got a call from the transition coordinator saying your mom is being released today and the OT have sent requisition to Red Cross for equipment rental and I should go pick it up. Having rented from Red Cross before I know they close around 4pm and it was just after 5. Again would of been nice to know so I could of made arrangements for someone to pickup the equipment. At this point was fed up with the care mom received by 7flr East staff and Dr and just wanted her home even though we still don't know why she collasped because according to this so called dr there is nothing wrong with mom. NEVER EVER STAY AT THE MIS.

Emergency is emergency. You wait, you wait, you wait, it's late, it's tough... Then, they take care of you. I brought my wife there (west Edmonton) last week. These people are amazing ; should I say it again ? These people are amazing. Gilles

Bad service, not responsible staff

Every time i've been here has been horrible. The wait times in the EMERGENCY room is crazy and one time I was here for a x-ray and they forgot me on a bed around the corner. Then the nurse pinches my cheek and treats me like a child. The will power it took in that moment...also the waiting room has to be 30c. It is like the desert in here and no moving air. I can't believe most of my family was born here and lived to tell the tale. Also i'm currently here and the nurse who looked at my mom did not even look at my mother's wound. It has gotten worse the last few days and that's why we are here. Also she was very rude and looked miserable. If you want to die, this is your hospital. Go anywhere else.

Glenna Petherbridge

Emergency is horrible. I sat for 3 hours with an industrial staple sticking out of my leg and on top of that, it took another 2 hours for a tetnis booster. Nurses prefer to flirt and socialize rather than do their job. I have had many other bad experiences with rude and insensitive doctors and beligerent nurses. By far the worst hospital in Edmonton.

Anthony Miller

I recommend that you avoid this hospital if you have a choice as both me and my partner were treated very badly over the last 3 to 4 visits there, a total nightmare. One exception was one visit 4 to 5 years ago.

I have worked at the Misericordia Hospital for 10 years. Best place I have ever worked. My work colleagues are wonderful. Have also been a patient there - great staff, very compassionate.

Bahaa Zohbi

Worst experience ever at the Emergency, for the third time they provide the worst services and whatever ur illness is u have to wait starting from 4 hours and up to 12 hours to only go in for check ups, they should either do something or they better close their emergency departement because its a joke, it cant be called emergency since u die in the waiting room for a doctor to see u!

Bree Foxx

Had to go in for a stress test at 35 weeks. The Covid check in lady was super nice and told me where to go. Registration was super helpful. I got lost to the elevator and a random doctor could see my confusion and helped me find where to go. Once in L&D, the nurses were so attentive and had absolutely no wait for the test. All my questions were answered and the nurses were super nice. I was nervous about having my baby at mis just because of reviews and knowing it was an “older” hospital, but I’m very impressed. Every L&D doctor working with them have been incredible to me and so helpful!

Great staff, great doctors, ER busy but efficient. Best OR experience I ever had thanks to two extra special OR nurses. Lab service is fast. Results on MyChart within 2 to 3 hours. Great job!

Ren Guomin

Waited 4hrs as i can't breathe, didn't see a doctor. Decided to go back home. I guess the only difference between going to the hospital or not in a emergency situation, is where you die. The whole system is broken. (Added 1 month later: It turned out I was in a bad situation that day, I went to the small hospital in Devon the second day early morning, hoping it has a shorter queue, there was actually no queue at all, I saw the doctor right away and he said I need a surgery immediately then I was transferred to Royal Alex, surgery was done the next day. I did a right choice to go to another hospital which potentially saved my life. ) AVOID Misericordia Community Hospital if you can!

Hao & Xiao

Both of my kids were born in this hospital. Overall experience is great. Of course, you will always run into a couple of individuals who is not super friendly, but I have nothing to complaint about.

I went in at 12:30 a.m. to get my broken foot looked at I didn't get to see a doctor until 6:00 in the morning I was the only person in the waiting room the entire time. when I finally seen the doctor at 6:30 6:45am he told me that he won't be able to do an x-ray until 9 a.m. why the hell did I sit there and wait for 7 hours to be told they can't do x-rays till 9:00 in the morning that's not how you treat a patient especially one in excruciating pain I am very very upset with the way I was treated and the answers I will got in regards to all my questions it was as if I was put on the back burner and nobody cared and then when I asked they said it was not urgent enough to have someone do an x-ray before the x-rays open at 9:00 a.m.

Day time nurses are a blessing....can not say the same about evening staff!!

Justine Saoi

I was there just over 25hours and truthfully, my confidentiality feels like it has been invaded. Not only I overheard then talking about my medical history. But, nurses at night have nothing better to do but search your social media accounts. I overheard last night as an incident happened a few years ago and heard them say I deserved that arson as it happened to me years ago. I'm never going there anymore. Especially, the emergency room, to only be talked about by young nurses. ABSOULTLY DISGUSTING..

Introvert Gaming

This hospital is disgusting the waiting room are so gross filled with trash and everything is sticky the staff are so rude especially the nurses if they can even call themselves that. Worst hospital I’ve ever been to. This place needs a health inspector what a joke.

Grace Brandon

Don’t go to this hospital! Staff are rude and like to argue with patients. Instead of a nurse explaining to me why they had multiple people in the emergency room waiting with their partners and I wasn’t allowed to wait with mine as he could not see out of his eye, the nurse started arguing with me which made me leave the hospital with my partner as we were treated so poorly. Do not recommend this hospital to anyone.

Nabeel Farooqui

**** WORST EMERGENCY SERVICES EVER **** The worst service and treatment from nurses and doctor at emergency Misericordia Hospital department. My mother had broken toe finger and the nurse in emergency simply told her "they dont fix broken toe fingers, why are you here" then they started putting all the blame to family doctor that she did a wrong thing by sending you guys to emergency. Nurses kept ignoring us and giving us bad faces, i saw people ahead of me running for doctors and asking for help but they are just busy celebrating staff happy birthdays while emergency is full of people in pain. Think twice before choosing this hospital emergency.

shaunette Madsen

Hours waiting in the emergency room, at midnight on a Sunday, rude staff, poor service, what a disgrace to the Alberta health care system Numerous people standing around, yet they can't admit any patients in 2 1/2 hours...complete joke

Aaron Craig

My daughter passed away here. Too many bad memories.

Brandon Beiault

My baby was here for an extended stay in the NICU. And the nurses fought tooth and nail to make sure our wishes were carried out at all times and that we were involved in the process every step of the way. Such amazing people here very compassionate and always willing to help.

My 95 year old mother was admitted to the hospital in June and although she unfortunately passed away the care and treatment she was given by all the hospital staff in Emergency and the seventh floor west nursing unit was outstanding and very caring. All the nurses and doctors deserve a great big thank you for all they did to make Rachel's last days comfortable and pain free. You are blessed.

Naomi Huber

I had surgery this morning at the Misercordia in the Day ward. From the moment I booked in with the nurse, I had nothing but pleasantness with the staff on shift. From the Porter that wheeled me to the operating room, to the nurses, attending Doctor, and my wonderful surgeon, everyone was extremely kind, patient, knowledgeable and empathetic. I watched them attend other patients and they were just as pleasant with them. I do understand the ER complaints lodged here, but I do also believe that you’re the one that sets the atmosphere for the type of care and attention you’ll get. Asking the nurse or porter how they are doing, saying hi, thank you, using manners goes along way. All of this was done with a smile, a please, and thank you. Treat the hospital staff with respect and care, and it’ll be returned. Thank you very much to everyone that assisted and attended my surgery today. I was very pleased, and hope that you all have a wonderful fall.

Of course the reviews aren’t 5star because it’s not a hotel and nobody likes hospitals. ????????‍♀️ But I had both my deliveries there and really liked the staff who gave me enough privacy during labour and never pressured me into anything I did not want. I think this hospital is perfect if you’re looking into natural hospital birth. And whoever said they didn’t bathe their baby - look it up - your not supposed to do that any time soon after birth! I didn’t know things like that with my first and I am so happy it was hospital’s policy to give me enough skin to skin and delay bathing because I wouldn’t have known and I’m happy I got that opportunity.

I came to the hospital at 1400 and was in the hallway with chest and back pain till 1900 as a CTAS score 2. The doctor on April 1st at 1900 asked me why I'm here, and when I informed him he told me my job is just to make sure you're not dying we will give you some pain killers get a x ray and punt you to your family doctor to deal with. Nurse gave 3 deltoid IM injections. Because she didn't want to start a IV after missing a wrist IV attempt on my dominant arm (right) After shift change the new nurse was not interested in my answers to her questions and kept saying well it's probably muscle and not related to the fall. Despite the fact that I told her I had no issues with my legs going numb before the accident. Just since I fell down 10 stairs. I used to think these people cared. Absolutely horid care.

Melissa Warner

AMAZING. I was transferred to the mis after a dreaded 24 hour wait at Strathcona hospital where I was told there was no surgery bed available for me. I was in severe pain as my appendix needed removed ASAP! The paramedics were lovely and so kind and caring! I got rushed into the surgery ward and within a half hour of being in the hospital I was undressed, gowned and into the theatre room for surgery. The anesthesiologist was such a dear, my surgeon dr. Pairus was so amazing and made sure I was okay- even with my anxiety. These people are exactly what health care should be. I got to go home the next day, even though in severe pain. I can’t say enough good things about the RNS and LPNS who were there to answer my call bell and help me through the entire thing. Amazing.

Sheri Palmer

27 years ago I had my 1st child via c-section there, and back again last week for a kidney stone removal. Both times I can't help but rave about the whole experience!! Not vary nice at all maybe one lady and she could’ve done better . The main doctor came in vary rude rolling his eyes . I went with pain poked with many many needles and left with no answer for my pain which I still have . A hole 9 hours. I’ve went to this hospital more then 5 times but I will not! Be going there again!

Tbabe Temiloluwa

It was a wonderful service. I came visiting in Edmonton and had asthmatic attack and sinuses and they gave me the best treatment I ever had in my life at the emergency room. Thanks to Doctors and nurses and other staffs. May God crown your effort. You care but God heal. You guys are all awesome.

Sasha wish

Have been waiting for more than 5 hours now. Asked for a single bottle of sanitizer for the waiting room that they call the extended area. And the the lady named Charity, same lady I shared the pain with what medical issues I'm going through (calling out names who don't behave like human) at the front gave an attitude, not a single word, nothing. Just picked up the bottle and left like seriously ! That extended area is for patients with covid symptoms. Not all patients in that waiting room are covid patients. You guys have sanitizer everywhere installed in the hospital except that room. Use some basic IQ and have some compassion towards the patients. You don't like your job or you don't feel like helping people in this sector then leave. Do not try to justify your negative actions and attitude because it's a pandemic going on. The entire world is dealing with it. I SIMPLY JUST ASKED A SANITIZER THATS ALL!!!

1 star is the rate I am giving in this hosp. I arrived in the emergency yesterday Jan 2nd at 830pmbwith abdomen excruciating pain. I was shaken and screaming for pain. I had waited in the waiting room until 2 am to be called inside. I felt relieved when I was asked to go inside I waited until 3 am for the nurse to give me something to relieve the pain such as ivy and morphinecwhikrke waiting for Dr to come and would give further instruction for ultrasound to know the cause of pain but the nurse said could not do it I was in pain. The nurse the can no di action without Dr order. But where is the Dr. The hosp has emergency dept for pt to give comfort and ease the pain even for temporary. They failed in that service. I have decided to leave and nurse asked me to sign the waiver. I have signed it but wrote a note the reason I'm leaning. My husband took me to UAH. When the nurse saw me I was screaming in pain they assisted me right away even without the Dr order yet. They put me in ivy and morphine after taking my vital and info. I did not wait in the waiting area. Then blood works. After a while the nurse checked my belly whom she said very hard and dense. Then the Dr came and ordered for ultrasound while waiting for ultrasound I was calmed down from pain. I was so much relieved and able to sleep. They did not find something in the u/s so they directed me for Cat scan. From there they found I had kidney stone Dr called it renal colic. I have also found that 2013 I went to Misericordia for the same issue kidney stone. I said I did not know it I remember I went in that hosp the same pain but I was being told by the student nurse they found stone but that would not be the caused of pain. The reason I told the student what would u think I am in ur hosp in pain if this would not be the reason idmf pain. Student if course. I wad given to student care. Now I promised myself and will spread this experience to my relatives friends and acquaintances the 0 servuce failing rate. Kudos to UAH fir hiring professional nurses and doctors

Worst hospital! I took my two years son to the ER , the old lady nurse at the front who was checking my son told me that she has never seen a child like my son because my son was crying and wouldn't let her check him, she was extremely mad and frustrated, I don't understand why this hospital still running, they should just shut it down and replace it with a much better one

Only letting 1 parent in when my wife just delivered a baby and needs support to help carry her. Dont care and only one person allowed to come in at a time. Called the morning of the appointment and was told we were allowed two parents. Changed their minds when we walked in and would not allow us in. Terrible place. Rather risk having a new mother in pain struggle to bring her new baby in for a check up by herself than let a masked double vaccinated father in to help her.

Sean Moring

A miserable, slow, and unpleasant experience. Easily the worst ER experience I have had anywhere.

Had a day surgery today. All the nurses at the hospital were very friendly and extremely helpful. Thank you for making this difficult time much easier.

Aaron Deines

Would you people please stop having pay parking at your emergency entrance??? What are you thinking, seriously. People pulling up with unidentified medical problems, and you're telling them to go pay for parking rather than seek immediate medical attention!!!??? What were you thinking. Do you have any idea how unethical it is to trap people like that? Precise ParkLink then tickets and starts harassing people for not paying the ticket!!! Morally corrupt. Do better.

This morning i have been to the hospital along with my spouse and my son who is 3years old while my spouse attended her routine pregnancy stress test meantime we were at waiting area my son wandering at the waiting area had crossed the security barricades twice, which is dividing the waiting area in two sections where the screening station is placed for patient screening, i have been asked to take him out reason being the hospital have other elderly clients. I was clueless and had to walk out of the hospitals waiting area and take him away and had to wait outside in the gallery until she finished her routine pregnacy stress test. I felt humilated and felt helpless being a father i couldnt even rescue my kid of being such lame excuse from the hospital staff. I just had to follow what they did it with me and i do not recommend any family to visit this hospital if they have kids who wants to explore and active kids and dont like to sit inplace because hospital staff have the reasons to keep you out. If the hospital staff is willing to keep the kids accomadated i am sure they will limit the screening area to a minimal size and waiting area be more so the kids and elderly both can be accomadated with out hassle.

I wish I could give negative stars. I delivered my first baby at this hospital. The Labor and Delivery postpartum is careless. They do not attend you if you have natural delivery. I and my newborn were put in a room with three other patients all of them were in pre-labor. My baby was positive with jaundice and we were placed next to the washroom. I requested the staff to put me and the baby in an appropriate room and one of the staff members said that you had natural delivery and will be sent home in a day or two, so they were unable to accommodate my request and I have to adjust to the setting. One of the staff members was rude to me and my visitor as well for no good reason. I had to buzz the emergency nurse more than 5 times before someone would actually show up. The staff threw garbage like they were playing basketball. Some garbage even fell on the floor. The garbage was full and it was emptied after it overflowed. Please go to a better hospital.

Long waiting time * very disorganized and poor communication amongst staff!

The facilities are certainly a bit dated but I have never received anything less than A+ service from the staff at this hospital. Our three-year-old child split his head open and we landed in emergency on Easter Sunday, with both of our kids in tow. Our youngest has autism and was already wired let alone facing the trauma of stitches. Everybody was incredibly friendly and got us into a more private area to wait for a doctor so we could better manage his tantrums. When the doctor came in, he suggested staples since they are much faster. He did the staples in about 20 seconds and was really gentle with our son. He even sent us home with our own staple remover so we didn’t have to make a second trip back to the hospital. Great sense and quality care. We need more like them. ❤️

My boyfriend had a 300lb concrete slab fall on his leg. He was having significant pain in his ankle and could barely walk. We came in knowing there would be a wait and were fine with it. What IS NOT fine is the fact that after an hour of waiting, the doctor wasn't even in the room for more than 20 seconds. He asked what happened, touched around the wound site and said it wasn't broken so it's fine. We asked about his ankle and he said he'd checked there too (which he didn't) and it's fine. Take some ibuprofen and walk on it. He was so disinterested with his job and what was going on that I really don't suggest anyone come here...

The staff at the Misericordia Hospital on 5 west and Dr. Stewart were professional and caring. Even after I had to be re-admitted they were very helpful and made me feel comfortable and confident that they were there to take great care of me. Thank you for everything.

Emergency c section was handled amazingly! The nurses were friendly and informative! Doctor/surgeon who performed the c section did a great job! My scar is barely noticeable and I healed very quickly! I stayed in the maternity ward for 5 days due to baby being premature! Nurses were awesome. Only complaints are the anesthesiologist treated me like I was nuts. My epidural medicine was too much and my chest and arm went numb. He said it wasn’t the epidural and was a different underlying health issue. I regained my arm strength within 24 hours once the epidural wore off! Second complaint , need some air conditioning in there! We were on fire and couldn’t cool down ! Also need some adult diapers for the ladies after birth! The size small mesh underwear don’t cut it for us bigger ladies ! Amazing hospital to give birth at tho! They also give you a food menu to order off of for your meals. You always get what you want !

Terrible experience here on Friday (July 12th, 2019). Arrived at about 9:00 PM with horrific food poisoning; extremely dehydrated, dry heaving bile, blood in stool. I suffered through intake and the nurse told me to sit down and wait. Sitting in a chair would have been agony so I laid down on the floor and was chastised by the intake nurse who brought me a wheelchair and let me know that the floor was dirty and a health risk. I sat in the wheelchair but promptly returned to the floor because of the pain. She came back and told me that security would be called if I didn’t get in the chair and that “if you pass out on the floor, I’m not picking you up.” My boyfriend told her if need be, he could do that but nope. Waited an hour and a half in agony in the hallway. I didn’t get discharged completely until nearly 6:00 AM. Didn’t get an IV with fluid or anti-nausea to until around 2:00 AM, by which time I was so dehydrated that it took 3 tries to get an IV placed. Saw two doctors for a total of 2 minutes combined. The doctor who discharged me said “well, you have a fever which doesn’t happen with food poisoning so it’s probably just a stomach virus.” A simple google search would suggest otherwise, but okay. Avoid at all costs. Some nurses were nice and helpful but the overall experience was horrendous. I’m from Calgary and have only ever experienced top notch care at Rockyview General Hospital there. I wonder if it’s because Misericordia is run by a separate Catholic provider.

I caught my finger in the car door. It was bleeding and it was on Monday may 24 th. Being a holiday I proceeded to the ER, and although my visit ended up being 4 hours, I received great care. There was a lot of protocols in place for covid, that indeed slowed down patient response time. I was impressed with the level of care I received, and want to thank all staff for an amazing job.

I was left on a hard massage table for over 10 hours while getting fluids as I had not been able to keep anything down for 5 days. I asked for a pillow and the nurse apologized and said they are scarce. This is Canada? I am from South Africa and would expect that there (at a government hospital), not here. I gave 3 stars because it is not the staff's fault but the AHS.

I was just at the misericordia hospital to visit my mother. The woman across from her in the next bed had diarrhea on the floor and herself from across the room to the bathroom. We called the nurse and nobody came for 10 minutes. And when 2 of them came in at different times, nobody attended to it. When a nurse came in with an ultrasound unit, she rolled right through it even after she was warned it was there. I wonder how many other rooms her feet and that machine will be going into tonight. Wow! And this is with hyper attention to germs!

chloe vandemark

I passed out twice in the span of a few hours. Once in front of a nurse. I was complaining of chest pain and kidney pain the entire time. I was sent to a covid room and wasn’t checked on once except for a nurse to take a second ECG. I then called for bathroom assistance and no one came for 20 minutes. I went myself, and when the nurse came I informed her I just grabbed the hand rails and made it. She told me to quit being dramatic. I then left and I will be going home as an 18 year old girl, weighing in at 145 pounds with chest pain and fainting spells that were not only not accessed, but my symptoms were degraded.

This clinic is a joke! There is one nurse that is rude and thinks she is god! My Dr. makes appointments and then doesn't bother to show up til 1 hour after appointment. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone

Brenda Brown

What a joke. Waited 6 hours with a gaping wound that required 5 simple stitches because apparently things like getting punched in the face at a bar are more important! Only one doctor on all night on a weekend. Give me the damn needle, I’ll stitch myself up! Probably got the giant wound infected having to wait around for hours. What’s the point in triage anyway? The Mis just throws it out the window!

THERE IS A NURSE WHO WAS TAKING CARE OF MY MOTHER IN THE ICU UNIT THAT WAS VERY RUDE. I DID NOT GET THE CHANCE TO GET HER NAME BUT SHES AN OLDER WHITE WOMAN WITH A RUSSIAN ACCENT. I DID NOT GET A CHANCE TO GER HER NAME BECAUSE SHE KICKED MY BROTHER OUT WHEN HE WAS TRYING TO SPEND THE NIGHT AND PROVIDE MORAL SUPPORT FOR MY MOM. SHE TOLD MY BROTHER THAT SHE WILL CALL HIM BACK IN AN HOUR AND SHE DID BUT SHE TOLD MY BROTHER THAT MY MOM DID NOT WANT ANY MORE VISITORS BECAUSE SHES RESTING WHEN WE KNOW FOR A FACT THAT OUR MOM WANTS US THERE. NOW WHEN WE GOT HERE IN THE MORNING, MY MOM TOLD US THAT THE NURSE KEPT ON WALKING AWAY FROM HER POST AND DOESNT KEEP AN EYE ON HER WHENEVER SHE NEEDS SOMETHING. MY MOM NEEDED TO STABILIZE HER BLOOD PRESSURE. Anyways, the other nurse like mike, he took good care of my mom and kept an eye on everything. I wish every nurse was like this in the ICU where the patients needed more care.

I just had knee surgery today at this hospital. The nurses where absolutely fantastic to those men and ladies thank you so much. Doctors also great. Thanks to all of you.

I am working at this hospital. The parking for employees so hard to find. Specially now a days there construction going on everywhere it’s nightmare to drive there and find parking. Very expensive parking for staff can’t able to afford $16 a day, this is ridiculous. We all day work hard with Covid patients when finally go home see got parking ticket $75 that’s completely unfair. There should have daily bases low parking fee for staff. People come to work hour and half before their shift otherwise can’t find parking. Lots of employees they quit jobs because of this parking hassles. Hope management do something they are immensely working hard. Second thing street parking they put so many different signs like seasonal parking wit no parking sign people get confused and then guess what TICKET. Please stop making money from poor employees who work so hard with covid patients.

Blake Little

The doctors, nurses and support staff are excellent. Nobody is in the hospital by choice but if I had to pick one it would be the Misericordia.. First class treatment!

My Grand daughter came in this morning she’s 11 with chest pain and fever!! Almost 8 hrs later has not seen a Dr. They keep saying after the next two it’s your turn that was 9 people ago. This is a disgrace!! They are not very professional. I can’t believe those nurses would do this if it were their child in pain and anguish. I’m also reporting this to my mp and whatever board I can report it to.

Terrible service, rude nurses cutting us off as well as sitting feet up shoes off in triage. There was an elderly man that seemed to be very sick sitting in a wheel chair and no assistance was given to him either. Easily worst hospital in Edmonton go Southside or the royal Alex is really good as well.

One year ago today these folks saved my life by removing a burst appendix and dealing with associated complications. The nursing and attending staff were very caring and professional, when covid protocols were only just rolling out. I want to express my deep appreciation for their skill and dedication, especially as pressure on them continues due to increased case loads.

Voltaic Cell

I tried donating organs here, but all I got were questions like, Where did you get 50 kidneys?,and, Why have you been stabbed so many times? Horrible service!

Spent 10 days in the Misericordia on 7 East. i was absolutely amazed with the care that I received. absolutely every team member on that wing was extremely wonderful. The nursing staff was totally attentive to my every need. they made sure they looked after me with the best possible care. I do not look forward to another stay in the hospital, but if I need to go back, that is where I would want to be. Thank you to the entire team on 7 East. you were truly amazing. Mike B

DONT EVER GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. DEAR GOD IF I CAN GIVE IT A 0 STAR I WOULD. THERE WAS THIS RUSSIAN NURSE IN THE ICU, WHO MESSED UP INSERTING IV ON MY MOTHER AND THEY JUST CONTINUED TO INSERT IT EVEN IF MY MOM WAS ON PAIN. MY MOTHER COMPLAINED ABOUT IT WHEN WE GOT THERE IN THE MORNING, ALSO WHEN ME AND MY FATHER GOT THERE MY MOTHER'S NECK AND BED AND BLANKET WAS COVERED IN BLOOD. MY MOTHER WAS IN PAIN THE NEXT MORNING. WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR THE NAME OF THOSE NURSE.THEY SHOULD NOT BE PRACTICING MEDICINE. THEY TOLD MY MOTHER THAT THEY MESSED UP AND THEY HAD TO DO IT AGAIN EVEN IF MY MOTHER TOLD THEM TO STOP.

No complaints. Wish I could say that about stony plain emergency. Arrogance (with no substance to back it)...........

THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE. If I could give zero stars I would. I came here at 10pm and 2 almost three hours later I was called in. They came in and left for what’s about to be another two hours . When the doctor came in he was so rude I been puking the past couple days experiencing chest pains and sever stomach pains but I let him do his job. He was aggressive and rude mind you I’m only 18 he’s a grown man giving me attitude for what? Like do your job I’m still here and they haven’t given me medicine or anything like at least tell me if I have a stomach flu or what . I might as well leave . If you’re dying and you want to live DONT COME HERE. This isn’t the first time I experienced something like this!

Really HORRIBLE experience! I've been here several times, not because I am sick but my husband or my daughter was. Every time we went here, the waiting time is ridiculously long and staff were unfriendly. This hospital is a 5 minute drive from our home so naturally it's our first choice during emergencies. Except they are doing a really bad job of handling patients in the emergency room. Staff looks like they were burned out from working there so long or something like that, really grumpy and won't even explain what is happening. The wait time is really terrible the last time I was here!! 6 hours before my husband was seen by a doctor! He has elevated blood pressure of 169/102 which increased to 173/105 in just an hour spent waiting in the waiting room and elevated blood sugar level of 16.8 which raised up even more as hours passed and yet nurses won't believe him that he is feeling nauseous and about to faint until he did passed out (5 hours into the waiting time) and a doctor woke him up and he doesn't even seemed concerned at all. SERIOUSLY?! Do you really have to wait for your patient to be on the brink of death before you attend to him? There's not much people in there (3 people in the waiting room when we arrived)! I have no idea what the staff were waiting for. And so after all this torturous wait, he wasn't given anything useful at all. The emergency doctor just said to take Tylenol and call his family doctor in the morning and try to figure out what is causing his elevated bp and bs. My husband went home far worse than when he went there. What was that freaking wait for?? NEVER, I mean NEVER go to Misericordia, find a better hospital or call your family doctor first. REALLY AWFUL SERVICE!!

Went into Emergency, after checking the wait time saying it would be slightly over an hour wait. Had to wait an hour and a half just to see the Triage nurse. Then proceeded to wait several more hours just to watch people that came after us with less serious issues be treated and leave within no time at all. Extremely dissatisfied with the services here. Honestly makes me ponder why we actually get taxed for this sort of terrible health care.

I want to give a “Shout out” to all of the Emergency staff who supported my husband and I during an Emergency visit this past weekend. These Healthcare Heros have been working non-stop throughout the COVID crisis and are not being fully supported and recognized by many Albertans. We experienced friendly, compassionate, hard working staff just trying to do the best job they can in a very difficult environment. We spent nearly 14 hours in emergency receiving excellent care and thorough testing to diagnose my husband’s condition which was very scary. I watched doctors, nurses, EMT’s and police officers repeatedly sanitize and then gown up with full PPE (gowns, masks, googles, face shields, rubber gloves) each time they entered a patient’s space. This happened at least 5 or 6 times in the space of an hour! Every time they left one patient, ALL of the PPE came off, and they did it all again for another patient. They were following these procedures to keep my husband and myself safe, as well as the other patients, their fellow staff, and their own families. We need to keep celebrating and appreciating our healthcare professionals, so they know that the LOUD UNINFORMED VOICES are not the majority and most Edmontonians do recognize how hard they are working. Thanks again.❤️

Jo

The staff are so friendly and helpful. And they provide all the information.

On Friday, October 26, my 17-years old daughter felt a sharp pain in her stomach. We came to Misericordia Hospital Emergency around 3 p.m. She had a terrible pain such that she couldn’t sit, she threw up every 5 minutes, and I just hold her and tried to calm her down. I asked the nurses to help her to see the doctor as soon as possible but my requests were totally ignored and only in 3 hours (!) the nurse called her name. The doctor, lady with a short blond hair, pressed on my daughter’s stomach and said that this is just a stomach virus, she gave her an IV to stop her nausea and at 9 p.m., 6 hourse after we came, she sent her home. My daughter said that she still has pain but we were let go home. At home, my daughter suffered from the big pain, she didn’t sleep all night. When I woke up she layed down on the floor near my bed. I drove her to another Emergency Hospital, in Devon, where the doctor said that it is 95% probability that she has got appendicitis problem. They gave her some pain killers and sent her to Children’s Stollery Hospital right away, where she had a surgery on the rotten appendicitis. After the surgery, my daughter was not allowed to eat or drink and stayed 3 days in the hospital connected to the dropper. The doctor could send my daughter to C-scan which is available in Misericordia, it will show 100% whether it’s appendicitis or not, but she didn’t even bother to do that! As a result, my daughter could die from this very unprofessional and irresponsible treatment! Now, how should I rate this treatment? “0” is too hight for them, I would put the minimum negative number if I could. Very disappointed!

The WORST hospital ever. The doctors there are curtious and kind. However, the STAFF are the meanest people I ever incountered. They are very aggressive and down right mean. They act like they own the place and that we should not have been there in the first place. They truly act like patients are begging from them. Service times are rediculously long. Average wait time is 6 hours before anyone will look at you. Yesterday their wait time posted on the internet was 5 hours (which was also a lie). I was there and had to wait 9 hours before I could see a doctor. It took me 11 hours to get looked at and leave the hospital, only to be asked to return the next day where I had to spend another 7.5 hours. Something is terribly wrong about the people who work there and the way they do things. I cannot believe our tax money is spent on peole of that level. I wish the government/ministry of health investigate hospitals of that level

Busy ER. Been here twice. My recent visit I was greeted by admitting nurse Terry who truly went above and beyond. She was warm and caring, and genuinely concerned. She did a thorough evaluation of me prior to sending me to the waiting area. My nurse was Rhea (sorry if I spelt that wrong) who was equally as great as Terry. It was a busy morning yet she made sure to check up on me. ER doctor was Dr. Julie Seymour who was very kind and knowledgable. She explained everything very thoroughly to ensure I understood my diagnosis and treatment as well as gave me the chance to voice any concerns to discuss them further. Overall a very warm and caring environment.

Nothing but bad experiences and memories here. I had to conduct my wife's peritoneal dialysis treatments because there were no trained staff in the hospital available to do it.. And that's nowhere near the worst of it!!!! Enter at your own risk.

Horrible experience with this hospital. My grandfather who is a cancer patient went in with severe chest pain and they let him go without proper testing or care. A few days ago my grandfather went to University of Alberta Hospital when his symptoms worsened and was diagnosed with a severe lung infection which Doctor Zaozimy at Misericordia somehow missed. It’s outrageous. This hospital doesn’t care about its patients and it certainly doesn’t care to figure out what’s really going on with their patients health. Absolute garbage.
