REVIEWS OF Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre IN Alberta

Rhyanna Kemila

Extremely rude staff, waiting rooms are usually packed and how the waiting room is set up you are literally sitting knee-to-knee with a stranger. Receptionist at the ER was EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional. Very unimpressed since all the improvements done to the hospital was supposed to make it a “better space” when really the space wasn’t the problem, it’s that 2/4 of their staff is very rude and unprofessional.

Great care all around

Dale Wood

Friendly staff with hardly any wait to get your stuff taken care of.

Randy Therrien

Very professional and prompt medical care and assistance as I have brought my Mother and Wife here both in emergency situations.

honestly worst experience I’ve had at an ER.... one night I needed to go to the ER because of some stomach issues that had been getting worse and causing me to lose weight and have extreme pain... the ER was completely empty not one other person there... when I got in a room the nurse did the regular questions but seemed extremely annoyed that I was there which made me uncomfortable like I was doing something I wasn’t supposed to.... she talked with an extremely rude tone and had no bedside manner whatsoever and honestly wish I had her name to make a formal complaint! after that all she did was take my urine.... I never once saw a dr because after she took my urine she returned and told me “it’s really late and the dr said since you aren’t currently in pain we won’t be doing any testing” it was only one am and the only reason it was that time was because I work evenings! What kind of dr doesn’t even show his face! Absolutely Appalled at the behaviour from this EMPTY ER! Pure laziness!! They didn’t say how I could find results of the urine test or if I should even see my dr... they just sent me on my way with no help whatsoever!! Absolutely sickening that a hospital would do this... my health since has gotten worse and luckily I was able to see my dr who is actually doing his job and sending me for tests... I’m honestly never going to Lacombe hospital ER ever again I would much rather drive 20 min to much nicer hospitals in Ponoka and red deer who actually give a hoot about your health!!!! If you as a hospital have no desire to care for people please don’t keep an ER in Lacombe hospital.... no one needs to experience that kind of lack of care!

Far better than Red Deer Hospital.

Nice place to go for lab work. Only waited 10 minutes. The nurse was very nice and fast.

If you or someone you know is suffering with a mental health issue, DO NOT choose this hospital if you need help. You won't get it here. Spill your feelings and struggles just to be told you need help but they have nothing to offer so you'll have to be transferred and boy o boy there is NO RUSH to do so. I met a teenage boy alone next to me, just seperated by curtains that's been in 30+ hours. Very seldomly checked on and that's being nice. Just a security guard camped out our doors to make sure we don't leave. Not a patient here, full blown prisoner.

The nurse was super nice it was the doctor who wasn’t so great. I waited for 3 hrs to see a doctor who didn’t care about my well being at all. Told me I was wasting his time and to go home. He did no examination and showed no respect or even sympathy for me. Doctors take oaths to do no harm and to care about Evie patients, and he failed to show any of those traits. Doctor Neevolt is a terrible doctor and I don’t recommend him.

This place is a joke my dad went in to have surgery on 2 hernias after he was done surgery they wouldn’t let him use the phone to call me or my mom to come pick him up so he walked over 5 miles to get home then the lady with all the ugly percings in her face was rude to my old man while he was waiting to be released don’t go here there a joke go to red deer ya it’s a long wait but at least you get treated like a human being if I could give no stars I would

Corey Anderson

Out of date, run down, staff are more concerned about gabbing then doing there job. Wouldn't recommend this dump to anyone.

Sitting in emergency and I got told that if the Doctor (who isn't even here, they have to call him!) doesn't deem my son important enough to see will have to come back in the morning... but will probably get told the same thing at 8am.... :/ not sure why they got an update emergency department..... it's just a Useless waiting room..... if the can't even afford to have a Doctor here WHY did it get updated....

Connor Mustard

Entirely the worst healthcare experience I've ever had.

Over the past few months I have made more trips here than I have in years (unfortunately). In January I came in for abdominal pain and waited in the waiting room for two hours, was then transferred to a private room for an hour and a half before someone came to look at me. They took some blood and brought me for an x-ray and then back to the room where I waited for another two hours. It was about 6 hours before I was out of there without a prescription or anything just a "eat a little better and maybe get a little more exercise." It seemed like a waste of time for something I could have googled? I had Dr. Brooks, she was very very kind though and I wasn't upset with her at all. My favourite doctor for sure. Jump forward to May -- I have a extremely painful allergic reaction or something in my mouth that had been going on for weeks. I go to the walk in clinic in Lacombe where it says it is at max capacity, so I drove to the Blackfalds walk in where it says it was also closed. Obviously I am not going home without answers so I drove to the hospital and got checked in. I sat in the ER for an hour and a half (this was at 4:30pm) before I was taken to a side room to talk to a nurse. (There was an old lady in the ER with a huge bandage around her hand because she accidentally cut herself with a kitchen knife and needed stitches. She was there since 11:30!) I told her what was going on and she told me that it did not sound emergent and that I needed to leave and go to the walk in clinic (which was closed when I went there). I told her it was closed and she told me they are open until 7 and that I needed to go there or I could sit here and wait four or more hours before anyone would even look at me. I opted to head to the walk in AGAIN, luckily they were open. I waited in the walk in for an hour and a half before seeing a doctor. I saw Dr. Brooks again (lovely, lovely lady) and she did some swab samples, gave me a couple at home remedies and send me on my way. I was told that someone would call me in a couple days to give me my results. One week later, no results, still an ongoing and worsening issue. I called them and was put on hold for twenty minutes and was then told that they lady I needed to talk to was on her lunch break. Called them again after work and finally talked to someone. She told me nothing was wrong with me, I told her there was something wrong and it was getting worse. She then told me that that was weird and unfortunate and that I needed to make an appointment with my family doctor. So I called the receptionist and the next opening with my family doctor was MID AUGUST. THREE MONTHS AWAY! I told her no and that I needed to see someone now and was told to call in the morning to be put on a cancellation list. Given my job, I can not be put on a wait list so that they can call me and say "come in in half an hour." Luckily after another couple painful weeks the infection went away naturally. Overall the hospital in this town is terrible, but healthcare in the central zone is not acceptable. I do not blame the hospital for the lack of care given, I place blame on the lack of funding from the government. The care we are given is unacceptable and something needs to be done.

If you have children go anywhere but here! Nurses and Doctors were extremely rude, rough and careless! They were supposed to be casting my sons arm for the 3rd time and did a awful job and were so extremely rude when I raised questions about the placement of his cast which was causing blisters on his palm. The Nurses swore infront of my 5 year old as well!

Thomas Wilton

The worst place you could possibly go i had to call an ambulance last night for my mom to which we live in mirror which is 30 to 40 minutes away when she got there and had everything done they said she could not stay there she proceeded to explain where she was living and they offered her a cab from lacombe to mirror this is a poor excuse for a hospital do not go they would rather let u die

Heather Halford

The lab at the Lacombe hospital is excellent. Very friendly and efficient. My choice every time. No appointment needed.

I was admitted into the hospital with a severe infection in my leg and they treated me so well and I never felt uncared for at all. Desiree, Hannah, Kristen and the other LPN’s are amazing at their jobs and deserve all the credit for helping me recover.

Tony Dreeshen

This is the worst hospitalI've ever been to Margaret in ER. She is the worst employee I've ever seen. I was bleeding profusely from my head. She said there's nothing she can do as the Drs are busy. I sat their for 3 hrs and nothing If you want to DIE go to the lacombe hospital

Nurses are useless and careless. I.v. Beeped for 3 mins before I pressed emergency call then a minute or two later a nurse came in shut it off and walked out not one word and I haven't seen anyone since they started the iv. There is blood all over my arm and they don't seem to care. Also had to ask 4 times for a blanket over an hour. Totally careless for patients

Myron K

Tremendous staff, very attentive and caring

Carol H

i understand the triage system, and i value this. it’s wonderful that the people who need to be treated first are treated first. what i do not understand is why all the beds are full for HOURS after the last patient was taken when there are people in the waiting room who NEED to be seen by a doctor. there need to be either more beds or a protocol for how long a patient stays in an ER bed before being moved into the regular part of the hospital. a 6 hour wait for severe pain that can’t be controlled with OTC meds is unacceptable. GO TO RED DEER.

Heidi Amison

Was a great experience very friendly

An absolutely despicable example of a hospital. My fiancée went in the middle of the night due to experiencing significant shortness of breath over the past few days. The doctor who saw her (Dr Timothy Darnell) showed zero care/empathy and told her "You should not have come in for this at 3AM and there's nothing I can really give you for this. You're lucky that I was here for another assessment, otherwise I would not have left my house to deal with this". Mind you, this place was completely empty with essentially no other patients to deal with at the time. Unfortunately, we also have had friends who were completely misdiagnosed at this place and ended up being severely ill. I would strongly suggest that even if your arm has been cut off that you drive straight to Red Deer or Edmonton for medical care and avoid this place like the plague. Disgusting!

Shane Allen

If you are from out of province don’t go there. Me and a coworker were in there for 6 hours and 9 people went before use with non live threatening issues. I asked the nurse why it was taking so long she said we were not important enough. She said some other stuff but I’m not going to get into that. She was vary rude. Worst hospital I’ve ever been too.

Shaun Kachmar

Absolutely useless.

My second experience here and when compared to staff at Foothills Hospital, Lacombe is head and shoulders nicer!! Very careful about Covid contamination! Thanks to you all! You've made a great improvement to my life! What a great staff! Samantha and Dr. Prins dealt compassionately, efficiently and professionally with my issue - even though it happened in the middle of the night! Nothing but good things to say about them. Dr. Prins even gave me a call at home the next day to follow up!
