I had to stop in on my way to Banff from Edmonton with severe stomach pain. I was left feeling very cared for and impressed by the level of compassion shown by the Dr. And Nurses. Something that is strongly lacking in Edmonton hospital's. If innisfail wasn't so far away i would go there everytime I needed a Dr. I would of given them 5 stars but the wait time of 5 hrs wasn't ideal.
Some parts of this hospital are wonderful; others are despicable. I'll elaborate: The Emergency Room is usually decent. Wait times are reasonable more often than not (about half the time have been able to get in right away). Staff are decent here for the most part. I have dealt with a few staff who really aren't suited to this type of job, thankfully they are few and far between! And have every now and then had staff members assigned to me that went above and beyond their duties! Lab staff are very nice. The phlebotomists are kind, compassionate, and good at distracting people from the needle! Highly recommend for people with anxiety! X-Ray techs are meh. Not bad, but not overly warm, either. Also, they need to turn up the heat in the X-ray room! The mental health department is utter garbage (but sadly, most mental health facilities everywhere seem to be). It used to be better but has really gone downhill. They desperately need more staff! The Rosefield Centre is mediocre. It is basically a hospice. They should really spruce the place up, paint it some wild colors! I know if I was dying in a facility, I wouldn't want to be looking at plain walls all the time, yuck! Neither my family nor myself has used the eye clinic, physiotherapy, or speech language therapy, so it would not be fair for me to review those. The bottom line? It isn't the Mayo Clinic, but it (mostly) gets the job done!
Have yet to have a good experience at this hospital. First time I went, the nurse ran out to chat with her friend while she was in the middle of checking my blood pressure. Second time I went the doctor asked ME what I thought was wrong. And the last time I went (and believe me when I say it will be the LAST) they took blood tests to check my thyroid. Found out a few days later at a walk in clinic in Red Deer, they didn't even run them. Don't waste your time going here. You may have to wait awhile in Red Deer, but they are phenomenal compared to innisfail.
Discrimination from a nurse, only to be rectified by the homecare "manager" declining further service to our home. Discriminatory behavior was brushed off as hurt feelings by head nurse. Very unprofessional, ill mannered and under trained staff. Dont expect a superior experience as you cant communicate with the staff and most likely you will be undermined while voicing realistic concerns. Unfortunately a star has to be applied to this review but understand that it is not worth even that.
Had to go get my arm checked out after tearing tendon from biceps, I can not for the life me remember the doctors name but she was young and very cute. I almost want to go back though I’m in a lot of pain ????
Great hospital to be born at!!!
This hospital was amazing, Nurses were attentive, and experienced, I felt very comfortable, coming and leaving from here! Thanks again
Ridiculous wait time. Triage appears to have no idea what they are doing. My wife had abdominal pain and a guy with a week old cut finger went in first.
Too be clear with those experiencing bad expierences or wait times. It is ALL dependent on who the staff is. I live here and have ggreat expierences and then I've had awful expierences. For this I am giving them one star because it has sank too a new awful. I had to bring my asthmatic 2 year old in, due to her having skin retractions at the ribs, wheezing and unctrollable coughing fits And It was passed off multiple times. I had to bring her in again, because it was worse. The nurses were just awful. I explained to them the trouble she was having, and how health link said she needed to be seen asap. The one nurse told me "Well why dont you try just giving her, her ventaline" well ya don't think I've tried that. We waited over 4 hours for her to be seen. And we ended up leaving because everyone, literally got in before her. Her doctor seen her the next day and she had an awful awful chest infection. Her doctor could hear her as soon as she stepped into the room. A nurse should have been able to hear and SEE while assessing her she was having THAT much trouble breathing. So thank-you too the nurses (who clearly shouldn't be nurses) and to the doctor who passed it off as nothing. When it was indeed something. This was awhile ago, however I am not impressed with the level of compassion and professionalism there lately.
I went on Thursday Aug 3/2017 to the Lab of this hospital from Red Deer for ECG, blood test and a halter monitor. I waited there for only five minutes when the nurse on duty called my number, much quicker than Red Deer hospital. She was very nice, polite & professional. Her name was Cammy and I would like to say a "BIG THANK YOU" to her.
YOU HELP ME BY REQUEST JOB RELATIDED
Staff are okay, although they can come off as being on the rude side... After a little bit they came across as a bit more caring and compassionate. The emergency department was very quiet when I arrived, and didnt take a long time to be seen, get blood work and xrays to be done... I was hopefull this would be a good hospital and will be coming here over Red Deer, in the event I need to go to the hospital again...
Wait times are seriously long. Experience may have differed with others I guess. I'm not the only one who had to wait for a long time. I know of another who waited just to walk out. I've been in there twice and the experience was the same. At a hospital I at least expect some hospitality.
Had day surgery. With Dr Neira. And his team. He is a great doctor. Hes so upbeat and positive. Makes you feel nothing but confidence going in and leaving. When you meet him..he has a great vibe and energy! And his staff is amazing. The ladies were so nice and polite and caring...besides having surgery it honestly was great experience and would recommend them anyday! Thanks guys !!! Your 1 in a million
The x-ray tech at this location really hates her job. The last thing I needed when dealing with a broken ankle was some unhappy employee complaining that I was moving too slow. The nurses were nice enough, but left my broken ankle unwrapped for an entire day. When I got to the Red Deer hospital for surgery, the surgeon's were appalled. Good luck to you if you need to go here...
Everyone is very kind at this hospital
I was here just a day ago, the Dr was ok, but nurse K has the be one of the most ignorant person I have ever met. You have better things to do then sit around and empty ER. Saying that filling out forms is above your pay grade. Nurse K, it is what your required and it's your dutie as a front line care worker to work with other organizations, including the Alberta government to help others. How dare you try and make me feel bad, for being there for a side effect of a medication. I have 3 nurses in my family, they even said you should not be there and your abusive. I'm making a report agains the nurse , I want your license suspended. Believe me what I have to add to the collage of Nursing here in Alberta. There is no excuse for abusive behavior. Run from this hospital. Some Nurses are abusive. Pretty sure this will be looked over! I will for sure bring this to this hospitals attention.
I am so grateful for the work that is done for my father (Bob) at Innisfail Health Centre. Thank you for your dedication, kindness and good humor. I means the world to our family. Merry Christmas.
Excellent care. Nurse was efficient and kind. As I work with the general public I understand how difficult they can be. I try to keep that in mind when I am accessing public services.
Don't bother calling the switchboard like I did last night, January 3rd 2022 at 5:30PM! The lady was very rude and grumpy on the phone. She was hired to answer the phones, hence the job title "switchboard" so why be rude and disrespectful as it's not worth it. Maybe it's time for a new switchboard operator who is a little more professional.
I don't write reviews that much but this one definitely earned the worst ER experience ever and doesn't even deserve 1 but I had to give it just to write my experience. The 1st time I went there, I only had nothing but great experience but the 2nd time was when I saw the true color of how toxic the work environment and staff were. I was taken into the ER and was told to wait and I understand the waiting time may vary depending on the volume of patients and they would be prioritized depending on the severity of symptoms. While I patiently waited (with utter agony) other people to be taken care of, I was only given vital checks and was finally assigned a nurse 2 hours later. A lot of other patients were as far as I could see were follow up patients and I couldn't quite understand why those patients were in the ER and how the priority set in. Most patients were coming in and got treated within 1 hour and left. Regardless I kept on waiting and saw new people coming in and out even before I was assigned a nurse, vital checks, and seeing my doctor. Oh, wait No I never saw my doctor even after 90% of patients were released and there I was hopelessly waiting in an empty ER room for 4 hours seeking for medical attention until god knows when. I had to use the washroom just to check what the doctor was doing and she was just on her computer and not checking on the ER patient. Clear she knew I was there waiting for so long but I have no idea what got into her to just let the patient suffer for so long for no apparent reason. Fortunately, after waiting for so long I felt a little better and I decided to get out of the ER without getting any medical attention. Basically, I wasted 5 hours in agony waiting just to get out with nothing. I don't know if this happened because of my different ethnic background that people are still racist in this era as I was the only Asian left untreated in that ER Room. Or maybe, I was just unlucky to be sick on that day, surrounded by a bunch of unprofessional staff and quite frankly I don't know which one is more worse.
Would give negative 100 stars if I could.
I watched an elderly man be left on a stretcher for 8 hours without being offered a drink, a tray, or assistance to the bathroom. The nurses give unwarranted sass and attitude and many of the physicians are arrogant and cold. I pray I never am sick enough to have to go the hospital. It seems as though all the staff care about is getting people out as soon as possible; treated or not.
Ever time my family have required medical treatment the staff have been great. A nice hospital with friendly courageous front line staff.
Two and a half hour wait last night finally walked out! 4 hour wait this morning walked out! Not 1 person had more than a 45 min. wait other than me! I was in so much pain I barely made it to my car. I thought compassion was part of their job, obviously not at the Innisfail hospital. I will never go back to emergency there, Olds hospital was super!!
They have no compassion for anyone including crying infants in pain. Had to walk out with our infant after facing negative attitude from the nurse on duty and the Doctor. Total disgrace to the profession of Health Care. Will not recommend to anyone. Some particular staff members have lost their ethics and have lost interest in their profession. This place doesn't even deserve a one star, but it wont let me post so I have to give them a star.
I went in as I had rust and metal fragments in my eyes. The receptionist was efficient. The wait time was projected as an hour but I was tended to right away. The LPN Jean who was my intake nurse was friendly and personable. Dr. Wing was very nice and handled the situation with professionalism and efficiency. Even though my eyes barely functioned I could clearly see I had come to the right place! Thanks again to the great staff!
