I love this hospital! Recently delivered here and it was an amazing experience. Great doctors and nurses very caring. Dietary staff was very good on food preferences also.
Just Had our first baby here best staff and hospital in Alberta the treatment was amazing
The lab staff are very poor at drawing blood, they required multiple needle insertions and failed to draw the adequate amount of blood. They said theyll just split the samples. Avoid this hospital at all costs for blood tests. It has been hours since my blood was taken, and my arm is still in pain, not just an ache, but actual pain.
If you are experiencing any sort of mental health related distress do not, I repeat, DO NOT GO HERE. You are far better off driving an extra 10 minutes to go to the South Health campus. Let me share with you my dreadful experience from last night. I presented in the ER around midnight desperate for medical assistance for lack of sleep related to chronic physical illness symptoms. The doctor took one look at my medical history, saw that I had a history of mental health issues and instantly labeled me as a dramatic time-waster. He wouldn't listen to me and made no attempt to help me sort out what was going on in my head and what I needed help with. At the time I was too ill to piece together and verbally communicate what was going on and what assistance I needed. I now realize I had become unstable and unable to think straight due to lack of sleep. He proceeded to downplay what I was experiencing and attribute it all to "borderline". Even if that was the case, the treatment I received was not okay under any circumstances. Mental illness is not a choice and patients who are dealing with symptoms should not be treated like it's their fault. When a person goes to a doctor, they are often very scared, lack a sense of direction and are desperate for help. They place an incredible amount of trust in the doctor's hands. The doctor has a responsibility and moral obligation to identify how vulnerable their patients are and to respect the amount of courage it takes to reach out for help. They don't deserve to be judged, stigmatized or made to feel like they are at fault for illnesses that are beyond their control. I suggest that the staff here educate themselves on how to treat mental health patients with the dignity and respect they deserve. Trauma-informed care would be a great place to start. FOLLOW UP: After I had essentially been arguing with the doctor trying to advocate for myself, I turned around and told the doctor and nurses that I was sorry for wasting their time and I left. The nurse proceeded to follow me out and take a picture of my license plate. I started driving home only to see police lights in my rear-view mirror. I did everything right and abided by all the proper traffic rules and because of that my logic at the time and because I was under so much stress it didn't connect that I had to pull over. They didn't sound the sirens and they turned the lights off after following me for a couple of blocks. I thought I was okay and in the clear by that point. They didn't pull ahead of me and block me or sound the sirens so I believed I was in the clear. Low and behold, I check my mail this morning and it turns out that I have a 388 dollar ticket compliments of the lovely High River RCMP. I essentially incriminated myself for reaching out for help although I drove absolutely safely under extremely stressful conditions brought about by the staff at the High River Hospital.
Great hospital with a great team to care for you and your family.
This is the worst hospital I've ever been to. They do not treat their patients with respect or their needs. There are two specific doctors that have an issue with me, that is totally bias. Worst hospital I've ever been to
Checked in twice for work-related injuries. Very professional service and full attention.
Worst Hospital
Good place if you don’t have anything wrong.
My nurse Caitlin was really nice as was Wanda. My doc took extra precautions given my injury and is having me stay. I’m glad they’re taking things seriously rather than being dismissive which I have dealt with before. Thanks for the care HRH
I have come here multiple times for different ailments. Everything from suicide attempts to a ear infection to a very badly injured knee. 80% of the time, the staff doesn't really care much, and they tend to be very rude. I injured my knee extremely badly back in Sep 2017 and still have problems with it. The doctor I saw wasn't even going to give me crutches until he heard me screaming in pain while he was in the other room. They have misdiagnosed me multiple times and I honestly really don't enjoy the thought of going there.
This hospital is atrocious. Wife was in emerg for 5 hours on a slow Tuesday night! Just to be told by a condescending doctor that she should just deal with shoulder pain. I will do everything in my power to make sure these people are held accountable
I was born here and they didn't kill me so its a 5 star for me.
Lovely nurses and simply a great environment.
Worst hospital I have seen so far. If you can make it to Black Diamond, Okotoks or Calgary, go there. They will actually help you.
Idk why they call it an emergency room when there's only one doctor
I was there in April 2017 for day surgery. The staff was extremely attentive and caring and helpful and kind. I can only say good things. Thank you. They were on time. While I did not see the emergency lineup, it did not appear busy. There were magazines and a television and a comfortable waiting area.
My experience in the maternity and the labour and delivery units have been nothing but extraordinary! My favorite place. Jackie is the best! However the negative rating comes from their emergency department. Back in august I had an issue I had to go to emergency. I got there at 8am. And still hadn’t been seen by 12pm. I thought it was strange when people who came after me were already seen and leaving after being treated. So I asked the nurse about it. She said “you don’t get special treatment just cause you’re in a lot of pain. You can sit in the waiting room like everyone else and I’ll let you know when I feel we have time for you.” Same thing at 3pm. I ended up walking out around 5:15pm Because I had to go get my children and I wasn’t being seen anytime soon. The next day I went to south health in Calgary and was immediately brought into surgery within 25 minutes of getting there due to an ectopic pregnancy bursting and it could’ve been less serious the day before had high river taken me seriously…. But if you’re bleeding heavily, in a lot of pain. I highly suggest literally any other hospital..
Terrible hospital! Don’t treat anything. More concerned about themselves than actually helping! Maybe the province should close this hospital for savings! No one would miss it!
Worst hospital. Avoid at all costs.
Excellent staff and care in the day surgery ward
Went in for day surgery yesterday. Melissa and Maryjeane did an awesome job looking after me before and after surgery. They made a somewhat stressful situation way more relaxing. The OR people were also great. Unfortunately I don't recall all of their names. Dr. Sutherland and the Anesthesiologist, whose name I can't remember explained to me in detail about what their procedure was going to be before and during surgery. Also what to expect symptoms to be like afterwards. They were busy in OR as I Wasn't the Only Person they were looking after. Very professional and compasionate. THANKS TO YOU ALL.
This is the worst hospital I have ever been to the docters a rude the staff are rude and we were the only people there at 1 am qnd the docter acted like she could not be bothered with us and was more concerned about her outfit. If u have a real issue Never go there you are wasting your time and risking your life if it's serious.
The ER staff are very rude and not helpful at all. I don't understand who's making them so sad and cranky, and it's very unprofessional to take it out on patients. I'd rather drive to Calgary or Black Diamond.
We drove to High River, as our 18 months old had an ear infection and has been taken antibiotics last 10 days. It looked that it was not helping her as she kept having running nose, running eyes, purelence coming constantly from her eyes, deep cough that stopped her breathing during the night for a few seconds, and she complained that her ears were hurted. We were on the line for over 3 hours in the evening. She was very sick. Male tall young doctor examined her quickly, and said she is fine, healthy and has symptoms that are normal after the infection. He didn't give us a chance to ask any questions, he was in a rush and behaved as he has a speech that he needs to say and to leave. We prayed to examine her better as she was very bad but he was rude and left us. 12 hours later her fever was 39.8 as the ear infection was presented and he did not even noticed that "examining" her ears. We went to another emergency centre and received help. She had an ongoing ear infection and there was an inflamation. So much stress! I think it was professional negligence! I hope that doctor will get the same indifference soon.
The lady who answers the phone in emergency is so beyond rude. Why have a job dealing with people if you hate it so much..
My day surgery care team, Melissa, Mary and Maryjeane were absolutely wonderful. Dr. Mueller is amazing, such a caring Surgeon and the O.R. staff (unfortunately I cannot remember the Nurses names) took great care of me. Dr. Finnegan (anesthesiologist) was also very kind, patient, attentive and made sure I understood every step of his process.
After day surgery try to get out as fast as possible! Was assigned a room next to banging doors with construction on the roof of room. Asked to move rooms to a quieter place. Was faced with gossiping nurses and insults!! My IV solution was leaking into the tissues of my hand turning it blue and puffy. Asked three times to have it removed then went down to emerg where they told me to go back up-stairs. Waited for the night nurse. After crying my eyes out, the night nurse came in and took out the IV needle because of the pain I was in. Sippy cups for water replacement. Too scared to ask for anything else because of the beratement. Asked technician if he was new because it took soo long to draw blood and bent the needle sideways on my arm. Overall the worst experience EVER in a hospital!! Evening nurses just laughed and laughed!
Took my daughter to be examined, we were left in a back corner makeshift room for 3 hours!!! That was after I told the admitting nurse that she had a high fever with vomiting and that it had been going on for nearly a week. After 3 hours my daughter just wanted to go home. Nobody had even bothered to come and check her temperature!!! As I walked out in frustration, I was asked if anybody had seen my daughter to which I replied no to a room full of staff that had more interest in the kind of coffees they prefer to order from Starbucks. I should mention there were no other patients in the area so it is not as though it was busy on this particular evening. If you have something wrong with you, best to travel to Black Diamond or South Calgary. This seems to be the lazy doctor's hospital.
Great place the few unfortunate times I've had to go in for a real emergency. Sorry, this isn't your family doctor. Unless you are actually in distress, you're gonna wait, as they're taking care of people in actual distress before your sore knee or minor infection. Get over yourselves people, you aren't special...
