REVIEWS OF Grey Nuns Community Hospital IN Alberta

I spent a total of 7 hours of my life today at this hospital and I didn't even catch a glimpse of a DR, nevermind having a DR examine me. I have a severe abdominal infection and I can't sit in a chair without being in terrible pain. I hope I don't die in my sleep tonight. The Grey Nuns hospital would be the reason. DO NOT GO THERE EVER!

Rechelle Sinclair

Had major surgery there and was treated with respect before and after surgery, everything was explained to me and they did everything they could to help me with my pain levels.

Pretty disappointed with the service I had here. When the doctor was asking when what was wrong, and trying to tell her that there may be issues with my heart, she spoke over me the whole time and told that it couldn't happen. I was telling her that I may have endocarditis and said if I had it I would have been on antibiotics. If she wasn't being so absolutely rude, she would have heard that the echocardiogram I had was inconclusive and I was waiting on a call from the cardiologist to have a proper diagnosis. Zero concern on her part even though I had every symptom of a heart attack. So quickly to dismiss my concerns.

I just want to say that the male nurse (Richard, I think?) on Sunday night is such a great guy. He just gave the room a slightly more comfortable vibe in emergency. He was peppy, and he liked to keep the mood light. The two female doctors I saw Sunday night and Monday morning were excellent. Highly intelligent, and great communication, once I got into them. They prioritized my condition, and in 24 hours, I’m home safe and can make myself well again. Thank you!

Went here with really bad chest pains, waited 7.5 hours didn't see a doctor.. so I walked out... if I die tonight thanks for the help grey nuns!

Showed up to make sure I was okay after getting a bad reaction from AstraZeneca. I showed up and told them I was coughing because my chest felt tight and that I was concerned I had a clot. They threw me into the "Covid section" of their waiting room with other patients who had respiratory distress! I came here to make sure I was being pro active with my health and instead of getting peace of mind I was treated like a Covid patient. I asked if I could go outside so I wouldn't catch anything but was not allowed. (If restaurants can have beepers hospitals should have them too during a respiratory pandemic!) Was thrown into a room for 7+ hours while getting blood tests, lung x rays, and a Covid test. The room had dead horsefly mosquitoes smeared on the wall and the paint was peeling and bubbling off like there was major water damage. They threw me into a room on the Covid side that had a soiled laundry hamper for the gowns they switched out of often. The bin was empty when I got in there and was overflowing by the time I left. 6+ hours breathing dirty possibly Covid contaminated gowns!!! No one came to tell me anything....left me waiting for hours in an eerily quiet wing if the hospital. One nurse who took my Covid test noticed my swollen injection site and it felt hot so she said it was infected. That got me anxious only to be told by the dr it was a perfectly normal reaction. Gee... shouldn't a nurse in the "Covid" section know about vaccine reactions. Finally by 6:30 I told them I had to go because I had been there since 11am and felt faint (I have low blood pressure.) They couldn't tell me when the dr was going to come and see me to discuss results so the nurse said if I was going to leave that I had to sign a paper saying I left against the advice of the medical staff. I asked if I could be called with results because I felt weak and she said no. She said I wasn't going to pass out and that if I left I had to write my name down so that if I died from anything that showed up in my results without my knowing they wouldn't be held legally responsible. Stayed for results. Nothing showed up so dr says they are convinced I have Covid. Unless I caught Covid at Northlands getting my Astrazeneca that doesn't seem likely. I never leave the house and we take MEGA precautions. I will update with results. Went for peace of mind that I wasn't having a bad reaction to the vaccine only now to be TERRIFIED I caught Covid from the Grey Nuns Hospital!!!! (Was told by dr that if I got reactions to my 2nd dose to come back. Why would I? To get thrown in with potential Covid patients and risk my life?! I will take my chances with the vaccine thanks! Another woman came in after me with vaccine reaction concerns but she was put on the "safe side" of the waiting room merely because her reaction didn't include anything respiratory related.) Grey Nuns maternity ward is awesome but I will NEVER come back to emergency! Grey Nuns has had Covid outbreaks multiple times and I wouldn't be surprised to hear it's from the incompetency of the emergency room. I know all the drs and nurses are stressed and overworked but this was just a dangerous visit overall. Now I know if I get an adverse reaction to the 2nd dose to either go to the UofA Hospital or simply take my chances at home and pray my body is able to fight everything it needs to. *Thursday.....no update on Covid test from them. 4+ days later when I was told 2 days. Feeling a bit better but still trouble breathing. Just weak. I have read Astrazeneca reports that it makes you feel faintish which is how I feel. Finding out that the woman who died of a blood clot was originally turned away from Grey Nuns Emergency is not surprising. It's day 8 from the day I got AZ and I'm considering going to another hospital for re-evaluation because my chest is still tight but after the "care" I received at Grey Nuns I'm terrified of going anywhere! Let's hope I'm not the next person to be heard on the news. ???????? *Friday AHS called and surprise....no Covid....LIKE????I???? TOLD ????YOU????.

I had such an amazing experience here. I had a surgery in my leg under general anesthesia, I felt very well taken care of and everybody in Unit 23 from the doctors especially the nurses are attentive, friendly, and courteous. It was my first time to have such a major surgery and I was here almost the whole day, I was anxious at first but it went away with the nurses’ treatment. I really appreciate the work of these nurses and doctors. My husband is also happy with how I was treated, plus the parking was free all day so yay!

Great area Great staff Great everything. The nicest staff not so clean but great

We had a great experience at the Grey Nuns. During the arrival of our first born we had great service and first hand look at how hard the nurses, doctors, and nurse practitioners work to provide the best health care possible. They had excellent parking and the parking app was easy to use, in-room machines, and even free fabric face masks for outpatients. Appreciate the staff at Grey Nuns.

I was at Grey Nun’s Hospital for 2 weeks because of covid 1 week was in a coma in the ICU ward, and my only gripe with the hospital was that the staff where overworked, understaffed and looking after few dozen patients and some where working shift after shift. But other than that the staff were overall very understanding, helpful and kind there was the odd nurse that was taking their time but I never minded because I understood that there was covid restrictions and they had to do their job of wearing PPE. As for the the food from the time I started to regain my sense of taste and smell the food was a bit bland but filled you up until the next meal and I was even able to order take out when I was on my last couple days of Grey Nun’s Hospital. As for visitors they only allow a couple because of the restrictions so I’d advise using them for family members or close friends. Overall positive experience, the nurses are hard workers and very responsive when you press the cowbell for help and they move as fast as they can, as for the doctors they where very professional and even went out of their way to make sure you were comfortable some even had a sense of humour to boost moral. Keep doing gods work ????????

I am going to give GNCH a solid 5 star rating, I'm not a frequent flyer at the emergency and only went because I was extremely ill and had a borderline life threatening condition, the treatment I received was thorough , precise and every aspect was explained to me in detail , all the staff from triage , IV clinic , xray, respiratory techs, nurses and Doctor's where top notch I commend you all for your outstanding professionalism and high level of care given to me now and potentially next 2 - 3 weeks , for everyone out there be thankful for the high level of care we have in this country of ours and show respect to those who take care of us !!!!

Great hospital. Two of my kids were born here. Great staff who helped every step of the way. One of our kids spent 10 days in NICU and the nurses in there were beyond amazing! I really do not like hospitals at all.. but this hospital made it feel alright. 5-stars for sure!!!

I am really surprised by the horrible reviews on here. I had to take my husband here for a procedure and was blown away by how kind and caring the staff were - all the way from the doctors and nurses to the staff in the gift shops and cafeteria. Everyone was extremely caring and friendly, making a stressful experience, easier.

Location is fine, but staff are lacklustre and ineffective. My parents' stay in this Hospital was extended by two months because of their indifference to her care.

This was a great hospital for delivery. Haven't always had the best experience in emergency department, but I also am aware they need to triage the cases. Keep up all the amazing work you do.

On Thursday September 16, I was admitted at the E.R for extreme pain at the abdomen. after my medical screening I was transferred to the care of Dr.Allan and this is where I experienced the most horrible service. During my time there as a patient, Dr.Allan spent his time lecturing me about why I didn't get vaccinated yet. Although I told him multiple time that I understood his advise and concern, and due to my pregnancy I am discussing vaccination option with my doctor. Dr Allan kept pressing on the subject by telling me that I should of take it 7 months ago; not only he made me feel as if I was irresponsible and careless, but he also accused me of listening to social media and bloggers' websites and not to science. At no time he sat with me to discuss my condition for proper assessment or to give me medical advice on what needs and can be done for my case. was scared, confused and felt frustrated. I had to force Dr. Allan to give me a Dr note for my work, because he kept on telling me "you don't need one". After making one note, he threw it on my laps and left the room by laughing sarcastically. Although, I understand that it is a doctor's job to educate patients about vaccine and to encourage it, I know that it is also their responsibility to provide adequate medical care to their patient. At no time I felt in this situation that Dr.Allan cared about my medical wellbeing. At no time, I felt that Dr.Allan met the medical need that I had or answered questions about my situation. Further more, Dr.Allan didn't give me the medical advices I needed regarding my situation to help my decision making if ever things get worst. Dr.Allan didn't show empathy, understanding and kindness during his interaction with me. And I felt alone and unfairly treated.

Amazing Place serving hamuinty.

Triage only gives priority to kids, severe infection pain didn't seem to matter and if you ask the lady at the front about it she will threaten to have security throw you out. The only half friendly person was the doctor. When we asked a different doctor for a hot blanket she flipped out...we never got the blanket. I would rather just die than go to this place. Canadian government needs to do another Ralph Klein and clean out all the overpaid nurses who see to place watching YouTube videos of a fellow nurse ahead of caring for patients.

AKBAR RASHAD

Dr and nurses are friendly and well taking care of my son even in the emergency

Sophie fox

Really friendly staff and helpful! there silly and funny!!!???? Thank you for taking care of me!

My mother recently received care at Grey Nuns and was then transferred to a palliative care hospital. During that process, everyone at Grey Nuns was focused on the care being provided to my mother. I have nothing but great things to say about the people who work there.

Rex Wesstrom

Don't go to the er after midnight, they only have one doctor on. The the doctor goes missing for so many hours not even the rns know where she went. What kind of place are they running here? Not impressed.

Excellent doctors and nurses. Very nice and lovely people.

MENTAL HEALTH. I spent the night due to a psychotic episode and this is honestly and truthfully the first time I've been treated like a human being during the course of my mental illness hospitalizations. I had run through all my local hospitals and had bad experiences all around and this time my mom decided not to subject me to those hospitals again. She went out on a limb and drove me way out to grey nuns and there I was, surprisingly treated very humanely. The nurses at grey nuns had not forgotten mentally ill people were human. I was offered warm blankets, I was given I've water. I was even given a face mask and ear plugs. At the Miz when I had a bigger psychotic event I was forgotten in a glass quarantine room and hardly let out to pee. This was a huge improvement. Nurses were very friendly. Now that I'm a little less shocked from the experience I'm a little choked up over how it could have been the entire time.

I've been here a few times for broken bones and stitches and the process with the ER staff is pretty bad. They don't really care about anything and it took 5 hours to have a XRay for the broken bones and 3 hours for stitches.... BUT I have to say the neurologist Dr. Siddiqui is amazing. I've seen him a few times and he is so smart, patient and great at explaining things. This hospital is very lucky to have him and he is the reason for this review having more stars than I would give the rest of the ER staff.

claudia A

I had my baby at this hospital with the must amazing experience from the staff. The nurses are really nice and they did a great job to give me the best attention. Thank you all

Breanna L

Absolutely terrible. Had to wait at least 3 hours to see a doctor for extreme stomach pain. When I was having a panic attack the nurses stood there and were extremely rude about it. Put you in a room with the most rudimental bed, no pillows, no anything- I dont even know if they changed the sheets. They throw you out as soon as the doctor sees you and you wait anotheer 2-3 hours with rude nurses just to have the doctor tell you to go home and take Tylenol. Don't ever come here for emergencies- they don't know how to prioritize patients and are extremely rude- expect to get worse while you're waiting. If you can make it to University, do it

Kate Burmeister

This hospital experience has been possibly the worst by far in comparison to ANY other hospital. I waited 6 hours to be admitted, given a blood test and a urine sample, and then left waiting for another 2 hours. I am STILL waiting as I right this. I came in at 12 and it’s 7:35 Pm. I missed a whole day of school because I was in so much pain I could barely see or walk, yet I was forced to wait and cry for 8 hours. The staff are also very rude and uncommunicative. I will not be coming back to his hospital, ever.

Melissa Janes

Had to come into emerge for a pain in my side, turned out to be a burst appendix! Every staff member from the doctors/surgon/nurses/ porters and housekeeping were all so nice! Very helpful and explained everything they were doing. They were very busy so things took a while at some points but nothing unbearable. The food for breakfast and lunch were actually really good!

Vojislava Stolic

I didn't get proper care in emergency department but I would like to explain why I'm giving them 5 stars... after 9 hour wait I almost fainted in waiting room because it wasn't that long ago after I finished my last chemo treatment and my body was weak...my armpit got infected and after long wait surgery was done and I waited another hour for someone to give me pain medication after surgery...I was in terrible pain...and I got really angry at nurses and doctors because they waited so long with medication...but they were overwhelmed and tired... I realized that they are only humans doing above and beyond and that i shouldn't be angry at them...the cuts in our health care puts are all in danger...and doctors and nurses are our superhero...please help them to do their work, stop cutting our helath care, this beautiful province and their people doesn't deserve that.

Les Koch

The Nurses and Dr's are great, they are friendly and caring. Then they turn around and rip you off with there billing, charging you for a room that you did not stay in and did not request. If your having a child there be aware they put you in the right room so they don't charge you for a theme room. Great experience at the hospital till this... complete scam

Cam Stewart

Awesome maternity ward! Amazing staff, very calm and encouraging. The atmosphere was nice and calm and quiet. Definitely a great experience with our first child.

Jesse Hunt

If you wanna feel like you MH issue dosnt even matter come to this place!! Sat here for over four hours watched people needing two stitches in a finger that showed up ten mins ago get taken in. Mental health does not matter to these People at all!!!!

The waiting you have to do here is just another example of how this system, not just this hospital, is so broken and has been broken for so many years... It will take so much money and resources... and even that I don't know if it will fix the system. You have some really great staff working in horrible conditions and you have staff that have given in to those conditions or just shouldn't be working in the field, that are so wasteful, and uncaring and just add to the horrible environmental conditions. That's why I'm not sure if just throwing a pile of money onto the problem is the answer. Like really, do nurses really need leather chairs to sit on when we are talking about not enough programs, beds, nurses, doctors, equipment, research money, etc? And what else was padded in leather instead of a synthetic fabric that was just as hygenic and cheaper. I dont know the whole story. Maybe they got them for a really good deal. I'm just saying, when the public washroom in the ER looks like an outhouse and the corners haven't been cleened...ever...You decide and maybe it's time we all try and figure out a problem and try and help this government along with an answer because they inherited this. And if you remember the NDP have been warning us that this has been coming for a long time now. They and Friends for Healthcare I believe they are called (I could be wrong on their name) have been warning us about problems with healthcare if we continued to cut money from it. I'm not a very political person. However, this is unacceptable. Now when you go to the ER here, you go to 1 waiting room and when you get called you go to another waiting room. When the Dr. sees you, your usually taken to another big room with chairs and 3 beds that are most likely full and everyone can hear what the Dr. says to you. There is no confidentiality. And there in the chair you stay for at least 6-18 hours usually, unless more needs to be done to you. Sometimes you are lucky enough in the ER to get a bed, but usually NOT even if you are in extreme pain or quite ill. If they are really busy, now you wait in the Psychiatric ward to see a Doctor. Really??? I've experienced the ER here several times and reading the negative reviews don't surprise me as I've seen things like that. Very Sad...These are just my thoughts.

The nurses here are beyond amazing & if anyone gives this hospital a low rating, you do there job just for one day. These amazing women & men do an incredible job day in & day out under unacceptable conditions . Please give the staff & this location the love they deserve. By the way, Jae (an incredible nurse) is a peach & should be given the key to the city for how professional, polite & amazing of a person she is. This hospital is very lucky to have her

I wish there was a zero star option because our experience with grey Nuns this week has been an absolute waste of time. My partner has been having chest pain and pressure for several days, and we wasted almost three days with this poor excuse of a hospital. Waited 8 hours in the ER the other night only to be told there was no ultrasound available, but we were told this almost an hour after another patient was told the same thing. Also, incredibly rude staff. Belittled my partner by saying "that's called anxiety" when there's something else wrong other than anxiety. We both suffer from anxiety and have never suffered from this chest pain. Ultrasound came back negative for anything, but there's obviously something wrong with her. We wasted almost a whole week dealing with this hospital and we should've went to another one in the city. We have gotten no help at all and my partner is still in pain as I type this. I can't describe how angry and disappointing I am with this facility. Will never come back here.

Don't even know where to begin, every time I've come to this hospital it's been a bare minimum 2.5 hour wait in the emergency room. I've seen people laid out across chairs foaming at the mouth puking into buckets, I've seen others literally bleeding through bandages, the list goes on and they just let you sit there for hours on end, terrible service. The worst experience was sitting in emerg with my girlfriend from 8pm till 3am just for them to give her a shot of toroidal and send us on our way.

Hani Mohamed

I always come here and I have to say, every visit is different. My very first time at Grey Nuns was just sweet and that's why I'm giving them 5 stars. Thank you to all the nurses and doctors that I have encountered.

Empath Shells

To say the ER treatment was anything absolutely terrible, would be a serious understatement. After spending a week in Cuba with a suspected broken back and flying home without pain meds. It is a terribly sad day when a broken back, s clear shown on x-rays, and the patient is then told to go to their GP for pain control. The only pain meds offered were two pain killers that cause severe vomiting. Wonderful mix for a broken back. Utterly ridiculous

do not go to the psych ward, is very haunted; you will get cursed. I have been here wont go again, my sleep was affected by spirits.

I recently delivered my baby at the Grey Nuns & can’t express my satisfaction & gratitude enough. From the Covid screen staff at the door, to the nurses, doctors & cleaning staff we received such excellent care. We unfortunately ended up in the NICU & the staff not only took care of my baby, they took care of me too. The communication was exceptional, we always knew what was happening with our baby. They were very patient, took all of concerns & opinions on board with regards to treatment. I couldn’t imagine delivering anywhere else. Because you these people I got to bring home a healthy baby girl. Huge shout out to Bruna, cleaning lady in the NICU for daily check ins & chats, you made our days brighter.

I was amazed at how the patients were treated. I witnessed several nurses and protective services handled each situation. Respect, dignity and Calm. Even my treatment was always treated well with updates on my condition. 200X better than the royal Alex hospital. I thank each and every one of the staff at the Grey nuns

Curt

This was our second delivery at the Grey Nuns. The Doctors and Nurses here are amazing and take the extra steps to make our time here easier and more comfortable. Everyone has been very nice and accommodating during our 3 day stay. The place is very clean, even for an older building now, it is well taken care of. Easy to get around and parking is not too expensive if you stick to general parking and don't stay in emergency lot. The only thing was half way through our stay, we ended up with a shared room, as this really made things a little difficult as the rooms are not sizeable for sharing two families who just had babies. This made sleeping virtually impossible. It really is crazy the size of the room they expect four adults and two new borns to share. More like a Motel 6 than a Ramada lol. I would definitely opt for private room if you can book it!! Other than that one nuisance this really is a good facility and you will be very well taken care of!!

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Dont come to this ER because they are the worst! We came in due to some horrible back pain, which led to not being able to walk or sit... we were in for 4 HRS BEFORE WE EVEN GOT CALLED....then, they couldn’t figured it out what it was for 2 days. He was there for TWO FULL DAYS until he collapsed because he was standing the whole effing time. So when he collapsed they finally called a neurologist, they ordered a MRI and finally found out that he had a tumor in the spine. HE IS NOW PARALYZED FROM THE CHEST DOWN! They didnt catch it on time and therefore RUINED our life. I ALSO want to add that i saw some nurseS (plural) treat patients with the most rudest attitude ever.... for example. A lady wanted ice for her stomach and the nurse said she couldnt bring it to her. THE ICE MACHINE IS LITERALLY A FEW STEPS AWAY! DONT COME TO THIS ER AT ALL!!!!

Scott S

Had to go into emergency with my 3.5 year old as she stubbed her toe so bad that I thought she may require stitches. I waited over 1 hour in line just to get to the check-in desk. The nurse at the desk so so amazing that upon asking me what the issues were was kind enough to assess my daughters toe right on the spot, went to the back and got another nurse to come out for a second opinion to which both determined the toe didn't seem broken nor require stiches. I know this will rub some people the wrong way but they saved a whole lot hassle for a little girl by avoiding what I could only imagine 4+ hour wait and in the end would allow other people with worse issues not to be waiting behind us. Grey Nuns certainly handle their Emerg very well, they care about you and certainly kids. I am looking forward to dealing with their Maternity Ward in Oct. when my Son is due.

Nick Appel

go to leduc for care, not here.

Brandy Toutant

They just do not care, especially the woman working in the ER triage! I had a gmheat stroke and was fainting, puking, having Hallucinations, cramps the whole 9 yards and literally collapsed in from of the triage nurse and she told me to stop embarrassing myself threw me into a wheel chair and forced me into a corner were I blacked out. Other people were so shocked they came to me and tried to help. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!

Davinder Rooprai

Not professional at all. unit 54 doctor missed the proper diagnosis. Forgot to reply to emails from cross cancer on time, delaying critical care. Lack of communication. Never had worst experience, decent third world country hospital will give you better care. Parking fees are criminal

Mah Ma

Was told to go to the nearest emerg ASAP by my OB as my ultrasound showed I might have a Heterotopic pregnancy which is life threatening.Waited for over 2 hours only to be seen for less than 5 mins and be told they had never heard of my doctor and what she’s suggesting is very rare so I’m fine and should go home.Had to go to RAH before anyone took me seriously.Ill rather give birth in the car on my way to any other hospital than come here ever again.

was born here. 3/5 stars life has been pretty okay

great doctors! everyone is very friendly and they have a great security team. one night I had to go to the er and there was a guy that must have been on drugs but im not sure. before any issues had even started they had a security guard come and sit next to him which I think made everyone feel a lot safer. he started getting aggressive and swearing at the security. I don't know where they came from but 5 other security guards come up out of no where and took him away. this is my go to hospital. always clean and great location

My grandma was lucky enough to have spent the last days of her life in palliative care here a few months ago.. Nurses were amazing and specifically the lady on the unit with short hair (and tattoo) was beyond great. It was a rough time but they did everything to make it a little bit easier for us. I look back and feel better knowing each time she came here she was in the best possible hands with staff that cares about their patients and the families.

I had to be at the maternity ward area for awhile... had issues while pregnant and the nurse in charge was not pleasant at all... I asked simply how long I would have to stay etc so I could make plans for my life... and she comes in all rude AF claiming I am trying to leave etc ???? it was quite weird... Also waiting all day over 17 hrs no food for this certain ultrasound was told I couldn't eat kept asking and asking etc and they tell me I was forgotten than I got in within a half hour... they seemed perfectly nice and accommodating to the cacausian woman whom shared my room though... JS suspect behaviors also while waiting for my Ultrasounds I had to do weekly and wait for HOURS literally above 4 hrs for a scheduled time and longest wait was over 6hrs any ways when I would able to wait for that ridiculous amount of time I would seen mice scurrying along... sooo gross... I get mice happen but damn these ones were brave obvious comfortable in their environment

Nice place. and great staff. i have a memorable experienced with unit 31 and 34. i like Nurses in that unit because they are very honest, dutiful, carrying, nice attitudes with the patients and their families. I salute you all and love you.

Carolyne Varennes

No one was really able to tell me what my injuries was. I spend 2 days in a emergency room with a broken tibia plateau before I got transferred to the Royal Alexandra hospital for surgery. Only then the doctor told me what was happening, good thing the nurses was friendly.

jules moose

I understand the government is cutting back. The wait times are horrendous- Like really long! Good luck to those who end up here!

This is the best hospital we have been to. Doctors and Nurses are dedicated for their jobs. There was a time, the waiting room was packed full and the doctors went out and consulted patients right in the hallway. Be proud that you work and serve at Grey Nuns Hospital, we greatly appreciate and honour all your services. You are the best of the best! I think other hospitals should come and learn from Grey Nuns Hospital.

I am not sure why there is so much negativity with this hospital...They are amazing. From the doctors to the staff. I had stomach pain and they didn't just discharge me. They gave me an anti inflammatory pain injection, then took my blood, urine, and x-ray and asked me to stay overnight as they wanted to do a proper CT scan in the morning because my white blood cells were little elevated due to an infection. They made me feel comfortable and really took care of me.

My son was born here and the staff were amazing. The government however need to step up and modernize many parts of the hospital especially the Emergency dept. Its very dark and cramped and doesn't have enough capacity for the amount of patients they recieve. The whole hospital could use a renovation

Brynn

My family Dr. Office told me to go to a hospital, and I made the mistake of coming here. I was at this hospital for a total of about 6 hours. During this time I mostly sat in the waiting room. The only thing they did was 2 urine tests and a blood test (I had a kidney infection), and I only had to take the second urine test because they LOST my first one. I never did get to see a doctor, I gave up and left. The only good thing that came of this was after I left a doctor called me and I told him where to send my prescription for antibiotics. Parking is insane. I spent more than $30 just to park for 6 hours. Charging for parking at what’s supposed to be a hospital should be illegal, it’s ridiculous. Sick and injured people are coming in and then on top of their conditions they have to worry about paying for parking and keeping up with the payments so they don’t get a ticket. Seriously disappointed.

Service is very bad in emergency. Staff is arrogant and non empathetic. They don't care about the feeling of patients. Management is pathetic and there are no updates to visitors waiting outside during covid. Really disappointing experience. Will avoid this hospital in future.

Really well maintained facility and having easy access to all the departments. Have a small gift shop and cafeteria downstairs.

Nikita Sharma

The way you have I had to stay there for 2 days oh my god they don't care about your time! like I accidently ate a nut granola bar and I'm allergic to all nuts and when the second day happened I ALMOST DIED CAUSE I COUND'NT BREATH! so that is when they took me in to the emergency room an took care of me

Alesha Haycock

If I could give you a zero I would. Worst hospital ever. Get your crap together and stop lieing to people making them drive 40 mins and say your collection area is open and then get there and they won't come help you.

Maya T

very bad experience. my aunt went in with horrible back and stomach pain and she collapsed on the floor and THE NURSES YELLED AT HER. and when my grandmother was in the hospital two years ago they told me she was going to pass away FOUR TIMES and shes still here today, thank god. if you can avoid going here and go to the U of A hospital instead that would be best for you and your loved ones.

Julia Rakowski

I was seen in the ER last night for severe dizziness and things could not have been better. I waited very little time before being taken into a room. The nurses (Shawna, Stacey, and Deena) were all incredibly compassionate and professional and helped keep my anxiety level down. Dr. Picard was great and helped put me at ease while I waited for the cardiology consult. Dr. Zhao explained everything in detail and really helped reassure me. I would 100% recommend this ER. It's not often you find a healthcare team so dedicated and empathetic!

arjay española

wait times in emergency is just too long. need to wait hours before doctors can see you.

Richard Santos

came in at 12:05!? sitting for 5 hours now and counting, my mom developed rashes on her body and was told by 811 healthlink nurse to bring my mom to the emergency room within 4 hours, cause she might getting an allergic reaction to something, since she's taking pain medications.. arrived at the emergency room stood for 30mins to get called by the triage nurse, got called and gave my mom's health card and ID then phone rang and she decided to answer it and left us there standing, then she told us to get back and stand back in the line, I told her my mom's getting an allergic reaction to something and her answer is she doesn't look like she's having a difficulty in breathing!! how Unprofessional is tha, are they gonna wait for my mom to drop dead before they take it seriously?t!!! you should prioritize patients infront of you instead of answering phonecalls!!! we got called back in line and she told us that her case is not an emergency! I told her the Nurse at 811 healthlink told us to bring her to the emergency room within 4hours! she cut me off while explaining to say "I don't care what the 811 nurse said" "She's not having difficulty in breathing if you want to wait, you'll have to wait overnight, I have people waiting since 4pm", wow nice way to discourage people to wait huh?! 811 told us to go to the ER and the ER says it's not an emergency and shrugs my mom's condition!! worst ER in Edmonton! will never come back here and would just drive to UofA ER! instead of dealing with Rude ER nurse here

3 star rating due to 2 visits in last 6 months... visit 1 was great, wife was 7 months pregnant and had to be admitted for pre-eclampsia, resulted in emergency c-section that night. Staff were awesome, Baby stayed 4 weeks in NICU. 5 stars visit 2 not so good, wifes currently in Emerg after having a stroke (MRI same day) She was admitted at 7pm last night, and didnt eat our evening meal, She was given 2 pieces of toast this morning, and now at 9pm thats all she eaten during her stay. No medical reason to with-hold food. Not impressed. 1 Star

Wonderful place to work

All my real friends

My family doctor ordered a biopsy of my Thyroid gland after an anomaly showed up on a ultrasound. I went here not knowing what to expect, but was warmly greeted by the nurses doctors and other staff. Because of my neck structure, it took a 14 inch probe and two doctors with a ultrasound to find the gland. The only things I felt were some pressure and my right ear drum popping. You folks are true professionals.

Steven Bidlock

Waited over 7-8 hours, while staff just talked in the hallway, terrible emergency room. never coming back here again

Oshi The G

If i'm right its a first come first serve thing right? And i understand some ppl have more serious injuries and have to be taken care of before others, but i had a severe pain in my lower abdomen and i told them that i went to a medicentre and the doctor took care of me and said it could be a kidney stone and if the pain gets bad again i should go to a hospital. I actually considered going to another hospital because and i bet i would've gotten through before i did here. I'm never coming here again and i don't recommend it to anyone. Ppl came after me and were getting in before me and none appeared to be in pain more than me. But i don't like to talk a lot i don't complain just let my actions speak.

Nurses and Doctors are awesome.

My husband is currently at the hospital and has been waiting 5 days for his surgery(still hasn't had it yet)! Each day thry refuse to feed him in the off chance that he will go in for surgery that day, but if never happens. And by the time they say, "Yeah, go ahead and eat something." It's so late that the kitchen is closed and they have nothing for him to eat. So I have to go out and get him something. Every night this happens! They say it's because emergency surgerys keep bumping his, so it's hard to be angry, but somehow I doubt that they will stop, so what do we do then? Keep starving him every day intil miraculously they have time for him? To top it off, we're from Fort Mcmurray, and have only recently returned home to try and get back to work, and he got flown to Edmonton for this surgery. I'm afraid he'll lose his job if he isn't healed by the time they call him back to work, and I'm wasting money on food and lodging while I'm here staying with him, because they said it would only be a couple days and they were going to fly him back, so I had to come regardless to drive him home. But it's been 5 days! With no end in sight! I should also add that the bathrooms are so unsanitary!!! The bathroom my husband has to use wreaks of urine and the public bathrooms look like something from a club. Water and toilet paper everywhere, grime on the floor, broken wall appliances and sinks and a foul odour. But hey, at least they have a wet floor sign in there. *eyeroll* Not impressed.

This place and whole staff that took care of me while i was there for appendectomy (May 31 @12 p.m - June 1 @10 a.m) deserve more than 5 star. Just pure compassion and kindness. They attended to all my needs without bad attitude Went above and beyond to make me comfortable. Dr. Chatenay, Dr. Sample, Diana, Natalie, Edyta, Sukhjit and Everyone else who was on duty while i was there and helped me (sorry i cant remember all your names) You guys are awesome!! Thank you so much for your hard work. Grey Nuns Hospital you are so lucky to have these people working at your hospital.

I understand it's busy. I had trouble breathing. Jumped in front of the triage line. Man told me my oxygen levels where fine. Sat down a waited 4 hours for my turn and had to pay parking twice. In that 4 hours. I seen an elderly man with severe cramps. He almost feel over. Took them 10 minutes to get him a wheel chair.???? Another elderly man was in servre pain. Couldn't stand either. His son had to get him a wheel chair. SMH???? Another man had pretty bad chest pain. At the front of the triage line. Told him to wait. ???? People who where in line after somehow got called in before I did. Had a respiratory therapist give me a couple inhalers. Showed me how to use them but didn't explain how often or what each one did. Had 4 people work on me and no one had any communication with each other. They just come in and out of the room. Telling me different things. Spent 6 hours total. Go find another hospital people.

Deanna Hart Selinger

Nothing but good experiences there.

Christopher Nixon

They said they would call me when my gf was out of surgery so I could come offer support. They didn't. Get it together.

Sarah Leo

If Grey Nuns is actually going to utilise volunteers, at least train them to listen and be helpful. We visited the hospital for an appointment and were led on an unnecessary merry-go-round in the emergency ward, wasting both our time and that of the employees in triage and emergency. All because the volunteer was too self-important to listen to our inquiries. Train your people in human interactions. Make sure they listen to questions without interrupting. Just because people are not white, does not mean that they dont understand English or are stupid.

Hello_Everything

This hospital is disgustingly dirty there was even garbage on the ground

Glen Lee

I was treated racistly and unfairly by a doctor five years ago. I still can not forgive him. The medical school doesn't offer character education.

SD J

The staff here are very caring and kind. Every staff I met in a time of need always ask if I was okay, had questions, or just need to talk. Yes they do get busy and sometimes you feel like they forgot about you. But wouldn't happen so much if people didn't go to emergency when it's NOT emergency.

Khaled Ahmed

This place is a joke not a hospital - staff is rude, unclean and unprofessional

Fauzul Aziz

Why? 1. Average waiting time was 2 hours. 2. The staff were rude and not helpful. 3. The staff didn't treat emergency cases as they should be (shouldn't be called Emergency Room)

Heidi Page

I had a knee surgery at Grey Nuns a few weeks ago, and my experience was wonderful! The staff were very knowledgable and kind, and the facility was clean. I felt very taken care of, especially by my post op nurse Patti and the lovely nurse at patient pick up whose name I can't remember. They both went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable in such an uncomfortable situation. Thanks team!

Tomas Feduniak

My wife showed up to their ER after an episode with her suicidal thoughts/depression. They said they wouldn't be able to do anything because she had a counsellor lined up and the appointment was today. Thats great and whatnot but I had to stop yet another suicide attempt from her when we got home, so thanks guys. There was a few people at the main entrance who were quick about helping me find her so I could pick her up, and they were great, but I I can't give even one more star because of the garbage experience we had. Definitely not an option to anyone with serious mental health concerns.

I had a procedure done at the hospital on March 01 2021 at unit 14/ Endoscopy. I have never been in this hospital before. From the reception at the entrance up to the Unit 14 every staff member and nurse was very caring and helpful. I felt very comfortable there. The procedure went well and the doctor and nurses which were involved are very professional and nice . It was a very good experience- A big ‘Thank You’ to the whole team in unit 14!! You guys made my day! Hans

Rockabilly Roxy

I would give it 0 stars if I could. The staff is very rude. I am having issues with my uterus that is very painful. The dr seeing me said my uti strings where poking inside me and it needed to be removed. The obgyn that came to remove it said that they where not and removed it leaving me with no contraception. I have polycystic ovaries and am 39 years old with high blood pressure. I am not able to take birth control pills due to my health issues and age. AISH no longer covers ida's or any extra funding no matter if it's out of your control and or to do with major health risks due to the fact the government of Alberta has cut all extra funding including taking $300 for shelter to cover the $1100 offered by the government for 1 week at the start of covid. Which most people did not qualify for. GOOD JOB JASON KENNY! TAKE FROM PEOPLE WHO ARE BARELY GETTING BY AS IS. MAYBE TAX CORPORATIONS THAT ARE STAYING AFLOAT. IF YOU'RE LUCKY, MAYBE THIS TIME I'LL DIE FROM POLYCYSTIC OVARIES. IVE CAME VERY CLOSE TO BLEEDING TO DEATH FROM THEM ALREADY!

Jeff Pedrina

Service is worst.

Emily Cramton

You know .. You come in with an ailment of some kind and you sit in a room for hours on end listening to the nurses talk about their personal lives and what their kids are wearing for Halloween and no one comes to communicate with you on what's going on. I was tempted to leave with a broken shoulder rather than sit in a dirty room neglected and forgotten about. Oh and you pay 30 + bucks on parking. I've never been in so much and angry in my life...

Tony Sorchy

I really can't say enough good things about my experience here and the medical care that I received! From the moment I entered I was greeted with courtesy and professionalism. Once admitted I knew I was in good hands and received nothing but genuine compassionate care from all of the nurses and doctors who took care of me in the vascular surgery ward and radiology. Their positive attitudes and medical professionalism really assured me that I made the right choice when I travelled here to have a surgical procedure done. The doctors are patient and friendly and they take the time to answer your questions and really explain what will be happening each step of the way while the nurses are diligent, understanding, and very compassionate. I have no hesitations about returning here in the future should I need to.

Chase Friedrich

Great care for patients and their visitors. My partner went to the emergency room and he ended up needing surgery. Nurses were wonderful at helping me find his room, they gave me the time and space to be with him even after visitor hours had technically ended. I was also able to come early before his surgery in the morning. They took great care of him and treated me well as a visitor.

alexmbanman

Took my dad here when he was having a heart attack. They made him sit in the waiting room in emerg. When I got in from parking the car, the only brought out a wheel chair and took him in when I started screaming at them. Worst staff to ever deal with.

After 7.5 hours total of waiting, they pull my husband and I aside to let us know the psych wasn't going to see him, too much on his plate as the doctor put it. Don't worry tho, he gave us a number to call if my husband was in crisis and told us to go to the U of A. Seriously?! This is why people with mental health refuse to get help.

Brynne McDermott

This place needs some serious upgrades. They didn’t even have a room for anyone. Everyone was sitting on a chair in a hallway surrounded by people coughing no privacy so everyone knew everyone’s business. Packing a bunch of sick people in a hallway like a bunch of sardines is horrendous.

Sierra Adam

Literally the worst hospital ever. If you have lung/ breathing problems, don't go here. You won't be able to even breathe in the hospital. This hospital should just be torn down. It's Literally a waste of time to come here. They will Literally let you die outside before they help you. The air quality in this hospital is concerning someone should get alberta health services in there to check out what's wrong. If you want to die go here.

Harpreet Kaur

Worst experience I ever had. Waited for 5 hours in emergency and got no results. Nuns were handling the patients because doctors had no time to meet the patients.

Devanshi Raval

Nicole West

My husband has had a few visits to the emergency and I have nothing but gratitude to the staff there, especially the nurses! They were nothing but a god send and they need more appreciation and support. Thank you to everyone working there.

Phil S

A nurse on the 5th floor stole my grandfathers cross and wedding ring from his body while he was sedated and dying of cancer. They will make sure to point out the fine print stating they are not responsible for lost or stolen goods. A truly disgusting experience in a tough time for my family.

Jj S

Avoid. Possibly Inhumane? I have felt not at all cared for by the staff at this hospital on both occasions where I have gone to emerg.. they did less than other hospitals have and did not treat the pain that I was experiencing.

Marigona Breznica

Trish Copp

With a friend who had a letter from a Dr staying she needed to be treated ASAP and that I shouldn't leave her alone. Waited over 5 hours already and haven't seen a Dr or they haven't even checked on her. Just put her in a room. What a complete waste of time used in a bed. DO NOT bring someone to this ED if you have major concerns about a friend or family member.

H Triv

Most insensitive staff I have ever seen in my life ... guys if you see online waiting hours is 2 or 3 please add almost same time for waiting i came here seeing online waiting hours was 1.30 hours and it’s been almost 5 hours now no body has attended me.

kartik josyula

My wife and I had our son at the Grey Nuns. All the nurses and the doctors were being exemplary. Every point of contact we were treated with respect and empathy. The amount of consideration and reassurance we were given at every step of the process speaks volumes about the competency and wisdom of the entire hospital administration. We have never seen such amazing patient care.

Braden Magnan

Found the staff quite good all around from the admin to the nurses to the doctors. The parking was plain crazy though. Not nearly enough spots, there was never a moment people were not circling the parking lot. I parked at a family member's house a few blocks away due to frustration.

Do not come to emerge if you can’t wait for over 3 hours. One person working triage with a room full of people. Ridiculous. And BTW it’s b.s about the critical go first.

I am a Stores Attendant at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital and Misericordia Community Hospital. My acting Supervisor uses me as his casual in between the Grey Nuns and the MIS; because I know every job in between. I was trained in shipping and receiving, the driver position, which is also the delivery person within the hospital, this person delivers items that the couriers deliver to the hospital, and also the Stores position of course. I have been a casual with Covenant Health since Dec. of 2015. Recently a position became available within our department because an employee accepted another position at the MIS. This person has only been in the position for a couple of months or less than. So the job was not re posted and awarded to another casual within our department. This casual has not even been in our department for a couple of months and it was awarded to her. My supervisor did not even let me know that she was awarded the position. I had to find out from my fellow employees that this person was awarded the position. I am not only upset by this, but also offended. My supervisor has always told me to keep trying and that I would get the position next time. He's always said "next time" which has given me false hope. He knows that I want a full time position and that has always been my goal. My other employees are also upset that I did not get this position as well. I believe that this is a personal attack against me as my supervisor and I have had an argument several times about how he runs our department, how he treats others, and his professionalism. The number one thing that seems to happen around our department is the lack of relief. There has been countless amounts of times where I will show up to work and full time staff have called in sick or they are on vacation and there is no relief for them. This is from the experience of years that I have worked here that this has happened. He will push all of the work onto us or he will have no relief at all which makes work very very difficult. I have seen where we will have no delivery person for 3 days on the shipping and receiving dock. Sometimes for the two receivers that we have there will be only one covering without any coverage for the other person for days. Yet I am looking for shifts. It is the same for the Stores positions. He will pull an employee from the Villa that already is working his .775 from his shift and bring him over to cover others work without paying him the over time that is required. I have worked three positions in one day and I can't even count on my fingers how many times this has happened. He won't deal with simple problems that we have as staff. He puts it to the side like our opinions do not matter at all. I have put forth to him many problems that are simple that need to be solved. But they never end up dealt with. For example I asked for a new hole punch for paper and he forbids to get a new one. He fixes it but the next day it breaks. A lot of us have trouble asking for simple supplies. This winter I would always run to the delivery truck to start it in the -30 weather. I would then run quickly back to the automatic doors to get back inside. The automatic doors ended up not working and only slightly opening which caused me to run full tilt with my face into the doors. I filed an incident report because I was really concussed. I am a runner and run all winter outside in the snow for exercise so I have no problem with ice and running on snow. Besides I have been doing this all winter and this was the first time I have had an accident with the doors. Anyways he approached me about it and didn't even ask if I was okay. He had asked why I was running and not to run again. Which then got me past my boiling point and I went off on him about everything I am telling you now. Ever since this has happened I have gotten minimal shifts which I usual get almost full time hours. The shifts have gone down to almost one a week. Which is not enough for someone to pay bills or live off of.

P Brar

We had our baby here. I would like to mention two names of Labour and Delivery ward. Erin & Shai, they helped us with everything and made the stress go away. My wife was so scared but both the nurses made her so comfortable. We will always remember your names and will talk whenever anybody asks us about our baby.

The worst experience I've had in a hospital. The service is uncaring, the hospital is dirty. I've been in pains for the past three weeks, all they have told me is "until you don't throw out blood we can't do anything." So unless you're not "in real emergency situation", find another hospital to be taken care at.

Kirk Dewhurst

It’s hard to believe that a hospital has such a low rating. My experience here was great. I sincerely believe that the staff are wanting to help and are kind and courteous. At least that was my experience. The hospital is very clean and well lit. It’s smaller but seems to be well taken care of. My aunt had a MRI appointment that I brought her too and she was well taken of. The waiting area was nice and the seating was comfortable. Even though the MRI was somewhat stressful she was made to feel comfortable. All was good in the end.

camaro Cerulli

Well i went there yesterday and i was in so much pain and puking and they weren't compassionate or if i asked how long it would take for me to get help and she said "well it will take a few hour's " But in a 12 year old that just wanted helping me and I was begging you guys???? THE WORST HOSPITAL

Lisa ann

Worst hospital, avoid at all cost. Can Visit this place to get certified training in Rudeness & inhumane behaviour. My wife was feeling vertigo, we visited emergency at 11am. They made her to wait till 5pm. We understand that there will be waiting in ER. but the patients came after were admitted straight away, except her. She said n number of times that she is not feeling well, (dizziness)and need iv. At around 3pm they took blood samples and at 5pm said you can go home and rest and will call you next day. She said am not here for a Blood Test, am here for iv. Am not feeling good, I simply din’t waited to go home without treatment. And to her horror the nurse said “if you might have fainted we might have gave you a bed.” with this attitude, for such profession i think its better to shut this hospital to save lives.

Abdi K

Absolutely speechless! Never in my 30 years of life have I been to a hospital with such terrible management and accommodation. I would like to stress the absolute disappointment I've encountered while accompanying my mother who was admitted to this hospital after experiencing extreme chest pains. My concerns started in the emergency room. As I stood in line with my mother who was experiencing extreme chest pains I saw a sign that instructed individuals with “chest pains and stroke like symptom” to come to the front of the window in the emergency room. Seeing this sign I immediately went to the front counter and told the nurse that my mother had extreme chest and back pains. The nurse looked me straight in the face and told me to patiently wait in line. What’s the purpose of having signs up if your staff don’t follow them? Then, I overlooked waiting 14 hours in the emergency room. I overlooked waiting in a hallway with dozens of other sick people for hours while we got test results. I overlooked the lack of privacy and confidentiality as emergency doctors openly shared my mother’s diagnosis while other patients were present in the hallway. The tipping point is being told that my mother who was in a one person room would have to share her room which was meant for one person with another patient. It’s an absolute shame that this hospital would risk the safety of its patients by squeezing patients into rooms that are designed for one person. Simply because you can “fit” two people in a room doesn’t mean it’s ethical and most importantly safe for patients. If this hospital cannot accommodate its patients than it needs to reevaluate its capacity limits and establish other protocols that do not put the patients safety at risk. Selectively under serving patients you know you can push around is absolutely disgusting and should go against everything your administration claims it stands for. The great care we received from Dr. Rouget and the nurses is the only thing that is keeping me calm right now. Can’t say the same about the rude unit nurse manager on the 5th floor or the patient support manager who thinks it’s ethical and safe to squeeze two sick patients in one room that’s designed for ONE OCCUPANT! Overall Terrible, experience and even worst management. Go somewhere else for your care you will not regret it.

I just had the most awful experience of any hospital in the city... the one I was born in. I waited for 5 hours in the emergency to be told that all I needed was some ibuprofen for a tooth that's been chipped since October 31st, 2016. I haven't had benefits until literally this past week, not something I'd like to share but it's the reason I made the trip to the hospital, I couldn't afford the dentist in the meantime. The doctor was ignorant and rude, and seemed like he couldn't be bothered. I understand other patients take precedence but I waited for 5 hours just to be told that I basically only needed Motrin. In reality, these pains have been shooting through my head in a violent matter and the throbbing of my chipped tooth (which is the issue at hand) is unbearable when hot or cold liquids/food touch it. I at least would've liked an x-ray after waiting all that time but nothing. The triage nurses were no help either and gave a lot of attitude when simple questions were asked, they would answer in a demeaning, debilitating manner. Absolutely unnecessary. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT USE THIS HOSPITAL FOR EMERGENCIES IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO! Just an awful experience. Also, I was seen by Dr. Robert Kruhlak, and I have never received worse service or assessing in my life. He rushed through the exam and didn't even bother to check my vitals whatsoever after waiting 5 hours. I am absolutely livid and WILL NOT return to this hospital unless I am on my last limb. Absolutely ridiculous, thanks for wasting my time you inconsiderate excuse for a doctor. Poor bedside manner, not thorough in their diagnosis. Unbelievable that I wasted my time on these jokes. Never will I do this again. Thanks for nothing. I'm not sure how one obtains a degree in a practice they seem to not give a flying hoot about. Please, do yourselves all a favour and see a different doctor. What a waste.

It was great at the end. I was admitted because of labour problems. All i gotta say is the students have to have more knowledge on what pregnant people go through. If a mother says her water broke dont say its just pee!!!! Sorry Tmi but i was livid.

Rob and carol in triage are the nicest nurses ive came across. So funny and nice and really know how to calm people down. I mean hopefully won't be back but if u do hopefully they work.

With Staff talking out loud letting everyone in the emergency area know what is happening and your life history the thought of privacy is ridiculous. Once you get into emergency you are best to make sure you have packed all three meals , that will be your waiting time. This hospital has a management and staff issue in the emergency area. The wait times are unacceptable, there is no justified excuse or reason why people have to wait hrs to see doctor. This hospital should be ashamed of themselves.

Victor Sea

Very friendly and professional people. Very clean and properly equipped hospital.

DO NOT, Go to this hospital for an emergency. My sister could not breathe at all and once we rushed her to this hospital (due to convince) they asked her to wait. She was clearly barely able to breathe and we asked for help 4x, in the period of 7 hours, no one helped us and when we asked to see someone, they told us to wait. This hospital is unable to prioritize patients and refuses to give service to the people in need. I would never go to this hospital if I had a choice. If you are in an emergency it is worth it to drive further in order to receive service before the end of the night.

Professional and courteous,. Second time I've been to this hospital in the last 5 years, everyone did their jobs above 100%.

Robert Sitter

Caring, courteous and friendly. Look these people are doing their jobs the best they can with what resourced they've got. They give damn good care. I trust this hospital.

Our daughter was born here and the entire experience was top notch!

Went to the emergency in extreme pain.. There were maybe two people ahead and I ended up waiting about two hours to only be prescribed Advil even after I said that Advil didn't work for my pain..waste of time for hardly any help. The staff were nice, didn't know how to properly handle a disgruntled patient though.

Clayton Bock

They’ve helped me lots! The only two things I don’t like is that you have to pay for parking an the time you get for all the money you put in is absurd. When you’re low income that does a lot to you’re life style especially when you’re in the hospital for hours. The second thing I don’t like is that there’s always a billion old people in there for stuff a basic doctors office can handle. This hospital in amazing an really resourceful

Waited 6 hours in emergency just to do a 15 minute thing and it got cancelled. Do not go to this hospital. Ended up paying over 27$ in parking.

I had breathing problem while I was in my 7 th day of the covid. I called 911 and EMS team brought me in this hospital emergency ward. EMS team was awesome. I left in emergency ward more than 5 hrs, no one asked me anything. I had feeling hard time in breathing. Then a doctor came in my waiting room and said there is no bed. I said him just check me up and send home, I will take rest in home instead of waiting in chair. Then a nurse sent me in a room. ECG blood work and X-ray was done. No doctor check up, no one showed up. Then the same doctor told from the door that you can go home. He never asked what happened, where is pain and what time breathing difficulty. I realized it was not a problem of bed, I was ignored. Then I said him can I take taxi? Then same ward nurse laughed teasingly on me and said we don’t provide loudly. I felt untreated and regretted to call 911. I came home midnight.

My Experience at The Grey Nuns Hospital unit 23 was very good. The staff were all very polite, quick ,and knowledgeable about there field. When the nurses weren't tending to patients, they were offering out warm blankets and checking on others. I'm thankful to live in a place with such great healthcare.

The nurses at Emerg have absolutely no clue how to triage. I've seen them take in low risk people while other people litterally collapse on the waiting room floor. They give low priority to children and pregnant women. The Grey Nuns is a terrible hospital. Welcome to unionized, socialized medicine.

i farted on my brother on his death bead and the doctor got mad

David Aschenmeier

The least troubling hospital in Edmonton. All four of our children were born in Grey Nuns. The nurses were beyond professional and very personable. The level of care is thorough. I also went through ER for some ongoing concerns. The wait for everyone in the waiting room was not long, and the follow-up care was explained to me very clearly. I remember time spent in another city ER and I cringe at a day wasted, but Grey Nuns has been a model for health care.

Tasha Craige

I delivered my baby boy at this hospital and they were great. All my nurses were super friendly, encouraging and knowledgable. My anesthesiologist accomadated to my pain like a champ and the Dr. That performed my c-section did a great job... I hardly can see my scar and it's only been 3 weeks since I had it done! Also, the lady at the breastfeeding clinic was amazing. Who knew breastfeeding would be so difficult, but after spending a half hour with her, it really gave me confidence in making sure my babys getting fed properly!

So I've never actually had a good experience at this craptastic hospital.. back to the time i sprained my arm as a kid and went there only to have some tired doctor ask me how far i could move my arm and sending me home with no sling to the birth of my child.. i went there for group therapy and was emotionally and pshychologically attacked by the therapist and more recently went there for the birth of my child. My wife's water broke they induced her into labour and allowed her to stay in labour until she was almost fully dilated only to tell her she had to have a mandatory c section. The c section went well except they didnt put the silver coating on properly and the stitching was sub-par. The majority of of the nurses were rude, they threw out one of our bottles, was telling us to not feed our baby as much as she wanted so she was still hungry the whole time, one of the nurses was manhandling our baby and the delivery doctor wasnt even there for the delivery! If i could rate this hospital lower than one star i would. I would recommend ANY hospital other than Grey Nuns. I will never go there again, i would rather wait at another hospital than go back there again.

Went in for a subtalar fusion with bone graft. I’m a veteran with severe PTSD and everything that goes along with it. From arrival to discharge I haven’t seen care, kindness and respect that I received by each and everyone. My surgeon performed the surgery without requiring bone graft. He and the anesthetic dr. Both kept me well informed and demonstrated sincerity and kindness. Thanks for making my surgical experience the very best I’ve ever had. (Charlee)

This hospital has the most ghetto hospital beds I have ever seen. Doctor office beds are more comfortable. Bring your own pillow. Plus they put 2 people in a room. The walls are filthy with holes punched in them. Only person in the waiting room and still had to wait 2 hours. If you can make it to a different hospital, go! I am not saying the doctors aren't good. Just very uncomfortable for a guy that almost died 2 weeks ago and is in a lot of pain.

Very horrible experience last night at grey nuns. I was brought in by ambulance due to chest pains, difficulty breathing, faintness and an irregular heart beat they put me in the admissions waiting room for 5 hours. No nurse checked on me or asked if I needed anything. ( which would’ve been understandable if I was there for something minor, not my heart!) They finally brought me to a room for an ecg and then shoved me into a cramped hallway with about 40 other people where I waited another hour. Still no answers. They then had a nurse come and take my blood in the hallway along with taking the blood of the other patients in the same hallway. Waited another 1-2 hours before the dr came and In front of the hall way of people talked to me about my situation and said doesn’t look like a heart attack you’ll need to see your doctor your free to go and ran off before even removing the IV from my hand that the ambulance had placed in. So we had to track a nurse down to have it removed. I will never go back to this hospital. So now I have an ambulance bill and still no results.

Priyesh Prajapati

I will give zero star to this hospital Worst experience of my life Do not go there for any concern of your life.. Doctor and nurse are not co operative and they do not care about your health. Discharged too soon that we have to go to emergency again within 8 hours.. They are over confident in their treatment and they do not even verify their own work resulting in your health risk. They will put you in more risk than your current condition. Please please do not go to this hospital.. if you need advise please reply this message..i will contact you back...

marcin rosol

awesome doctors, super nice stuff....a year later review..-ER in and out within 3 hours flat, blood test ,x-ray.everything in 3 hours..love this hospital.the only thing is a parking meter that doesn't take interact and is bloody expensive $2.25 for 30 min..robbery in the daylight. Grey Nuns keep up great job..thank you

Diablo

Love that we pay 30 percent plus on taxes, and u have to pay outrageous parking fees, wait for hours and hours to see anyone. The hospital is ghetto in general, and Alberta as a whole has terrible mental health, Alberta heathhcare is a descrace! The elites don't have to wait for anything we pay for them to get the healthcare we deserve.

Safia Rashid

Quite frustrated with the woman at the admission/information desk this morning. Ahead of me was a Muslim couple who was there for the delivery of their first baby ( I know this because the receptionist was talking louder than she should have been ). Her treatment of the young couple was rude and seemed largely discriminatory. The husband was speaking for his wife and the receptionist was asking questions in a derogatory tone alluding to him being oppressive because he was doing the talking. Stop assuming that just because a woman is Muslim and covered she is oppressed! They were clearly an immigrant couple and he was more fluent in English. Ridiculous.

There is never a Hospital that I want to spend time, but here the Surgical units Staff are dedicated, have a true team Spirit. I am deeply appreciative. Huge thanks to the EMT'S ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

I use to think this hospital was good but the customer service has gone downhill in the past year. Came in to get a finger injury checked and they were so vague about it and tried to convince us it would take forever, but at the same time if we make a chart we shouldn't leave. Ended up making a chart and waited for more than 3 hours (the wait time was 49 minutes when we got here). Everyone who came after us (some for similar issues) kept going ahead of us and we had to ask the Triage receptionists why it was taking so long and they kept saying "you're coming up." If you end up coming here make sure you're a good actor otherwise you will be waiting forever.

Kate puim

First of all, when I told them I was in extreme pain and couldn’t sit up I needed to lie down they didn’t offer a bed even though I seen 5 open beds in the hall. I was puking for an hour in the waiting room.. not once did they check in... they let me crawl on the floor instead of grabbing a wheel chair or helping me up. When they got the test results back they let me go even though they found WHITE blood cells in my urine, which surprise, surprise is dangerous and didn't Offer me any medication or extra testing. I had to go through my GP to find this out and she started ordering test immediately. Are we into making patients worse so they end up in the hospital again but with worse outcomes?!

David Birkigt

Got in after a reasonable wait. Took care of my issue promptly.

Rick and Carla Virdee

If I could give negative stars I would. For being an emergency room I cannot believe how they operate . I honestly thought all hospitals in Canada did emergency based on seriousness? This hospital in my opinion could use better staff and should reevaluate their processes and procedures. I find it rather disturbing and disgusting that the staff is able to speak to patients they way they do, however if the tables were turned patients are prohibited from speaking to the nurses, doctors and staff that way. I will not let this incident rest and I will be following up with higher administration staff.

Handsome Guy

Unfortunately I have had the opportunity of dealing with this hospital for the last 10 days as my 90 year old mother had to be rushed it. Lets start with emergency..........Know it well, the staff there are pretty good but it is so crammed and unsanitary it is ridiculous. people lying all over the place in the hallway on stretchers. PLUS...at least 25 paramedics standing with people they have brought in for hours on end. WOuld be pretty simple to have a doctor roam the collector hallways instead of paying the paramedics to stand there. The only good thing about emergency is NOTHING>>>>>of course, after waiting nearly 30 hours to be transferred to a room I can say that with 100% certainty. THe rooms in the hospital are dated with a lot of non functioning equipment, it is what it is I suppose. HOWEVER they are also filthy, and when I commented to the heathcare aid who was helping my mom on her walks she said, she knows, and agrees with that. I asked her if she would let her mom come here and she did not answer. THen comes the moving around...........from room to room, closet to closet, not having the right equipment, not even a chair for a patient to sit in. THere is NOTHING GOOD ABOUT THIS HOSPITAL> Parking is absolutely ridiculous allow yourself lots of time as there is only one lot plus a small emergency lot and you can easily drive in circles for half and hour before finding a spot and once you do you have the great pleasure of paying an exorbitant rate. Tons of staff parking that is empty so if the administrators had any brains they the would open up some of those lots to the public. Even better, have the staff park off site and take a shuttle bus to the hospital. That would free up space and you would not have to pay parking rates like you would pay in New York .oops. One problem I guess... the administrators are not smart and have no interest in making a visit hear bearable. More important to them to line the pockets of the monkeys at precise park link who manage and get to ticket everyone at these lots THIS HOSPITAL NEEDS NEW MANAGEMENT > HOPEFULLY OUR GOVERNMENT WILL REALIZE THAT THEY ARE GETTING GARBAGE RESULTS FOR THE MONEY THEY SPEND AND DO SOMETHING TO FIX IT. THE ISSUE IS NOT THE MONEY THAT IS SPENT, ITS WHAT WE AS TAXPAYERS GET FOR IT AND THAT...............IS DREADFUL

I get migraines, intense ones where you end up vomiting, pretty normal for a real migraine. But when I get them, I get them in batches just days apart in most cases. They put me in the "protentional Covid" section and left me for 7+ hours! While I was crying and shaking like a leaf in the wind. When I finally saw a doctor (no room just standing at the triage desk for everyone to hear), he offered a shot of Toradol, when I told him that for many that is the right thing, but it has no effect on me whatsoever He said I will not support "habits like yours". The 2 paramedics standing there with me were absolutely shocked. These 2, in front of that doctor told me that in 20 minutes they were more than willing to get me some real treatment and respect elsewhere. After he said that a number of patients in the waiting room were applauding as I was being escorted through the door.

I would rate this hospital a 5 star.BUT UNFORTUNATELY, parking rates are quite pricey. The coat would make sense if the parking lot was revamped to a 2-3 tier level to accomodate BOTH staff and visitors - not combine them both.Lastly, no authority to enforce parking rules in regards to no idling and no paarking at designated areas - for example, the entrance...drivers park and/or leave their vehicle unattended, park in front of no parking signs AND idle their vehicles (during winter and summer) which causes exhaust gases to enter the main entrance of the hospital.Vehicles parking on the road in front of thw hospital sign!Rivers should temporarily park in the “parking lot” until whoever they are waiting for is at the front - not clog up the driveway.Again, no enforcement, there should be an authority to ticket and/or tow those who don’t follow the simple rules. Other than that, it is by far the cleanest hospital in Edmonton.

Great, fast , and efficient service ????????

First time to visit this hospital and it was really memorable and not to forget. The doctors were fine but some RN especially in the emergency department are so mean especially to immigrants like THEMSELVES. Waited so long just to get some initial dose of medication and ended up being searched by a RN and literally saying to me to "open up my pockets" as she was looking for the meds that her colleague gave me.

Emergency female so called Dr. Says it's impossible to bleed to death after I was told I dogged a bullet from bleeding and was diagnosed with ischemic colitis. She figures I must have ate something wrong and that made me bleed all night filling my toilet each time( approx 8 times) with Large clots and blood. She also says that no one bleeds to death and that because my blood was healthy ( as I told her again and again I have hemochromatosis and I have high iron and healthy blood) she shut up my temp on Tylenol extra strength was 99.6 she says well was it 100 LMFAO I said if I wasn't on Tylenol it would have been over. After all her not even looking at my work they had already done and saying such brain dead things I told her to walk over to the paper work sign her little name and I would rather bleed to death next time at home then ever go back to this hospital. Worst experience ever. Once I get her name from then I will be writing the college of physicians to complain also. Popcorn Cracker box licence is what she must have. I will post her name asap . Nurses at grey nuns all but one where nice and efficient, the other Dr's and specialist I saw where good. But like I said thanks to her I would rather bleed to death at home.

Had my daughter at this hospital, and I couldn't be more thankful for the nursing staff in the maternity ward. They were amazingly calm, caring, and knowledgeable-more than the doctors! Don't take your nurses for granted. Will definitely consider coming back here for baby #2!

The facility and staff are great. People complaining about wait times should be more upset with the higher ups than the hospital and staff.

The nurses will make feel like you are being cared for by your mother/father here. They are so nice and full of so much knowledge. God bless nurses everywhere.

When you get admitted in this hospital, it seems they don’t mind you , and you’re not important . Er Doctor Mitzi Aisha has no care to us patients , “ you’re in severe pain she’ll just move you in anyway she wants “ and talk rudely. You will spend a night just to get IV and to wait what will be tomorrow’s plan.

Alexandra W

I had my first baby here earlier this year. When we arrived we were given a private room quickly. I had mentally and physically prepared for the most natural birth possible and when I was asked by the first nurse what I wanted for pain medication and I said nothing, she had a very condescending attitude. (I birthed unmedicated and it was amazing, would do again! The female body is more than capable.) The rest of the labor and delivery nurses were lovely. I was left alone to labor for several hours and was not pressured to have any cervical checks or fetal monitoring which was awesome. When I could feel my baby coming the nurses came in to help. I asked for the birthing bar to help me feel more comfortable, and they gave it to me. I felt so good and confident that I could birth like this and was excited to meet my baby in a matter on minutes. But I had one contraction in that position and they forced me on my back because they could see the baby crowning. I was far too exhausted to argue them on it but this is 2021... we seriously still force women to birth on their backs and not how they feel comfortable? By this time all the medical staff was in the room. I was then pressured to push harder, faster, and was told I wasn't doing it right, all because there was an "emergency" next door. If I would've been allowed to birth with gravity and not against my baby would've been out so much faster. I know this because I could feel it and I knew what my body was doing. I was very disappointed that I was just at the mercy of the procedure of the hospital. Every birth is different and it makes no physiological sense to push all births through the same procedure. I realize this is a flaw of the medical system as a whole and will consider other non-hospital options for my next baby. There were some lovely nurses on the postpartum ward too but altogether this ward was lacking. I had to ask several times for things and they were just disorganized.

Prerna Khullar

Very nice staff and doctor

I went to the hospital for an mri. Honestly to me the doctors and nurses were fine but the actual hospital building was really sketchy. Like i don't know if it was just me but i got bad vibes from it. And I usually like being in hospitals. But otherwise I think its alright.

Cora Echo

PSYCHIATRY You all need to know that they abuse people. how bad does it get welll first of all they misdiagnose people. They have the review panel set up so it is bias against the patients and no one protects them. First rule is DO NO HARM... when a patient says they believe they are Autistic and should be tested they should be tested. Not DRUGGED AND HELD DOWN AND ASSAULTED. Next they have doctors there that coerce their patients in these vulnerable states to undress for a psychiatrist to prove medical problems they are creating. As far as I am concerned they should be charged with Sexual Assault and they assaulted a person with a developmental disability because as it turns out I am AUTISTIC. THey Assaulted and drugged an autistic because they called it a psychiatric treatable condition of PSYCHOSIS. These are two very different Disorders.

Daniel Decker

All the staff I interacted with were excellent, the wait time was more than acceptable, and although there was a little mishap with my birthday being incorrect on a document, my experience was pretty positive.

Justin Hepburn

Spent over six hours to be told that they can't perform the tests because it is too late and have to come back again in the morning. This was already the second visit as the first visit was a 4 hour wait to be told to take some advil and see if that helps.

DR DIWALI OR DALIWALL.. the pronunciation is one of the above.. IN EMERGENCY HERE AT GREY NUNS IS BY FAR THE WORST DOCTOR I HAVE EVER HAD TO DEAL WITH. HE IS A PILL PUSHER AND DOES NOT ACTUALLY CARE AT ALL ABOUT THE WELL BEING OF HIS PATIENTS. He should not be the PRIMARY doctor in emergency and should honestly step down if he cant be bothered to provide adequate care or treatment to ER PATIENTS. He could not be bothered to give a proper examine and just brushes his patience off I am assuming In attempts to see as many as he possibly can vs giving each the best care he can and seeing maybe a few less.... you dknt want a prescription for narcotics then he doesnt have time or the concern to treat you. I would give zero stars if I could and be sure to express my concerns further more above a google review! This doctor should not be treating patients he should be sitting at a desk filing paperwork because he is absolutley horrible with people in general and is extremly unpersonable to even a patient injured and in need!

Curtis Lea

Way less than impressed with the after surgical care. Nurses and other staff seemed excellent. Coordination between doctors and staff seemed non-existent. Followed what advice I was given (little to none) and am now forced to deal with major post surgical infection. Returned to ER as instructed for help and they pawned me back off on the surgeon, who's never in his office or available to see in a timely fashion.

Sha Love

I would give ZERO stars if I could. Made me go in by myself even though we had already paid 30$ for parking. Wait time online said 1 hr it took us 4 hours and we still have not been seen. I asked over an hour ago when I’d be up and they said I was next . Then went about calling 10 other patients before me. I asked why apparently even though I was triaged and have worse symptoms than the lady with the sprained wrist. I am still waiting and she has gotten in. Why? Because I have diarrhea which is a covid symptom so I need a private room apparently. I’ve been sick for a week haven’t eaten in three days or Drank water anD I’m waiting because they don’t have a PRIVATE room?!?! Will never return worst experience ever

I was taken to the Grey Nuns yesterday in an ambulance for some breathing issues. The paramedics were amazing. The hospital staff I came in contact with were aril calm, professional and very kind. Sure I had to wait, not very long. I appreciate all medical professionals so much and I am so sorry and angry that they are dealing not only with Covid, but all the political garbage. Please know the majority of Albertans do care, and we see what you are going through. Please stay safe and sane.

Worst Hospital Ever, my Dad only had appendicitis and they said he could leave the same day. They let him leave a week later after complications with surgery. Two weeks later, he has pains where his appendix was, makes me question if they even took it out.

Medical staff and friendly and helpful. Cafeteria is okay. Wait times aren't bad.

I supposed to submit the survey to the OB nursing station but I missed it. I just want to express my gratitude towards the best nurses In Grey Nuns especially (in order): 1. Brenda - she's the most caring nurse of all treating our baby liker hers. She's very compassionate. 2. Amy - The nicest and most patient nurse in our hospital stay. 3. Miranda - The fastest nurse that offers the most service but she has to slow down a little bit as she misses minor stuff. 4. Taylor - She always make an effort to help us despite she's struggling to do a certain task. 5. Janelle - she's very nice to us and our little baby. 6. LINDSAY - YES LINDSAY, the worst nurse in EDMONTON and not even close with the nurses above. - She visits only 3-4 times during her morning shift during our first 24-stay in the OB room. - She does not give us a heads up after her visit that she will come back or not. She just left the room and that's it. - We press the red call button for help and completely ignored it and she arrived after an hour and did not bother to apologize. - We asked an ice and glass of water and she did not HELP AT ALL. - DID NOT BATH OUR BABY which is her task that day. - No instruction at all for proper latching and breastfeeding. - Just stay for less than a minute to check the baby and the mother and there's zero compassion at all. - She told us to read the booklet and she will come back should we have questions she did not come back. - A nurse who's not happy to work. - A nurse who's not happy to help. - A nurse without a heart to take care of patients. Training might help but her behavior will take time (maybe years) to correct. - Sorry, she's extremely lazy and I AM A NURSE as well and I believe she has tons of complaints. - She better change or else or her patients will increase the risk of post-partum blues/depression. PLEASE SHARE AND SPREAD AWARENESS

The Grey Nuns hospital is amazing!! I first went there in Febuary for my ovarian cysts, They didn't care how many times i came there they were concerned about making me feel comfortable, Recently being back there for another chronic Health problems the doctors and nurses were amazing and so compassionate they got me in for an emergency scope tomorrow at noon, my Gi didnt even care, but the doctor at the grey nuns i am so thankful for them helping me, and i Apprecaite all the wondeful and helpful staff there as well

I went to emerg for an injury. The triage process went smoothly. The nurses were all professional, including the admin staff. The doctor that saw me was nice. The Hosptial had an old feel to it, but I feel that can be fixed with some Renos. Overall, very positive experience. I had to wait a bit to see the doctor and get an x-ray because my situation was not severe, so can’t really fault the Hosptial for having to wait.

in at 830pm for an MRI, diagnostic imaging staff were very nice, prompt and efficient. made me feel very at ease. appointment was hard to get, about 3 months or so but they followed up the appt. with reminders and clear instructions. I appreciated that they were working hard so late. the place is filthy though. i mean the MRI place was clean but the public bathrooms, lobby, hallways and walls are totally digusting. i saw some cleaning staff but they looked like they were on a work avoidance program. if you need surgery look for a place that at least mops the floors once a month...cause it's not here. stop at the shell gas station if you gotta go, before visiting this place.

Doctors were unprofessional and neglected. I gave natural birth there on August 2019 left the hospital with a severe nerve damage affected my leg and knee and the doctors had no idea about the reason while i had a very healthy pregnancy and i am still struggling till now after 3 months postpartum can’t walk properly can’t sit and stand without support never offered an MRI or investigation at that time. They sent me home after 5 days on a wheelchair with walker, bench for showering and higher toilet seat. Till now they don’t have any answers about what happened and why and no idea about the injury. This was my own experience at Grey nuns hospital.

Jane Morgan

Brought my son in to emergency tonight. He has metal shavings in his eyeball in 2 places and literally can't close his eyes, to blink is painful. Waited 3 hours. A lady came in and said I was vomitting last night, I feel better today. Thought I should get checked. Nurse immediately responded, we will get you a room right away, and did! At one point the wait area was empty all people before him had been admitted, more people came in and we watched them all go through.we left and went to Leduc hospital.

Nada Omar

I do not support this place and if you go there when your sick they finish you right way I do not recommend anyone to go

Jae Arce

Gave birth to a healthy baby boy last Feb 12. Every staff was very helpful from my labor to delivery. I am super amazed from the professionalism of the nurses at the maternity dept. and they were all awesome!! You guys are angels.

Malick DIA

Labour and delivery at grey hospital just want to share something about the nurse Gemma RY She is helpful professional and confident thanks for all the hard work to deliver the baby

Yvonne Bootz

Doctors are amazing but cleanliness was bad. Had to sleep two nights in bloody sheets after c section, garbage was overflowing and shared washroom never got cleaned in the 48 hours i was there.

Still surprised this place hasn't gotten its doors closed yet. Disgusting and dirty hospital and with the rudest staff imaginable. This place NEEDS to be shut down.

Samaira S

My experience tonight was good but this is towards the nurse with the blonde hair with attitude . Treat everyone with respect please stop having attitude towards the patients . You work in a stressful environment but it doesn’t give you the right to yell and be Rude

I want to split my review in 2 Wait time I would give 3 stars. I was in there for 4 hours on a weekday afternoon before I got to see someone. My condition was not life threatening so I understand other people should be pushed to the front and I also understand the staff were working as fast as they could but 4 hours is crazy! The Doctor I saw, Jessica, was amazing! 5 Stars! She sat and listened to the problem, gave me my options and gave me time to make an informed decision on how to proceed. She then got me necessary meds and went above and beyond when it came to next steps to insure I wouldn't be back in there again in a hurry. Professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Couldn't thank enough.

Chad Kobelka

Robert Ward

They gave two different anaesthesia's to my niece almost killed her.

MK11

The Staff was very helpful and caring. Only con was the communication/coordination between staff was lacking so I had to wait a bit( I had one nurse for blood test, another for ECG, and another gave me some medicine). But overall service was excellent so I give it 4 stars.

Joshua Barrett

I am currently a patient there and the staff a beyond excellent!

Sandra Garcia

Too expensive

Kayla Roach

The lady who was registering patients today at 11:30pm is absolutely horrendous and has no right to be registering patients

sharon cairo

The labour and delivery unit at the Grey Nuns Hopsital is excellent. The staff is efficient, professional and knowledgeable. I would like to say a special thank you to Sandra. She is an amazing nurse whose compassion, patience and knowledge is a tribute to her professional. A bouquet to Ally as well. She was not our nurse but she too was a shining example of being a great nurse.

The system is broken. Waiting 6 hrs to see a doctor is wrong.

GURDIP K.

feb22,2019 emergency visit for my wife ,quick & very friendly, efficient service we received,Thanks to the all crew.

Brandon Lovin

I waited here for 17 hrs only to receive no treatment. Took 40 minutes to just get registered and signed into the emergency. Was taken to the back of the emergency right away due to the condition. I was told repeatedly I was going to receive treatment soon. Only to find out after 16 hrs that it will be another 12 hrs or so. I ended up leaving and going to a different hospital.

This is at the entrace of main lobby where everyone is required to change their mask and sanitize their hand. I walked in to ask if this is the way to walk to the diagnostic department.. my question was never answered by the nurse in yellow disposable gown. Instead, she asked me with high tone Why ? Itold her I have an appointment, again she questioned me if I was registered. I told her I had an appointment. Well, again my question was not answered if this is the way to diagnostic department. I was asked to sanitize my hand and throw my own mask. I told her I need to call my husband to inform him that I m at the right place .. as he was waiting outside in the car.. she never listened to any of what I had to mention , she raised her voice and said you can't bring anyone, you have to go on your own ... which I never intent to bring in.. i have a todler in my car for my husband to look after... .I ignored her and walked out and called my husband to say I'm in right place. I walked in and sanitize my hand.. then again she scold me WEAR YOUR MASK? SANITIZE your hands, I told her back that she asked me to throw my mask, then she gave me a new mask. Her arrogance had completely occupied her head till she doesn't watch what is happening. Repeatedly asking me to sanitize my hand which i just did right infront of her. Pushing what she had to say but never LISTEN . The tone of her voice and body language is very much rude and unprofessional. After done with covid 19 exposure questions she asked me to check if I'm registered for diagnostic procedures. I just told her i had an appointments !!! Again listening issues with her. I walked to the patient information where a pleasant lady told me , yes I'm registered and guided me how to walk to the diagnostics department. This is my first bad experience in this hospital. Assigning health care professionals with unpleasant attitude like the nurse in yellow gown ,such a bad stigma to this hospital. Respecting every single person who walks into the organization is highly required. I had visited emergency few times and the experience were awesome and the staffs ,doctors were very professional.

My partner spent 4 days in Grey Nuns CCU at the beginning of November 2020. I was very impressed with the level of care, especially considering how busy this unit was. I can't imagine how stressful this job would be, especially during a pandemic. The staff are very selfless and put the patient's needs above their own. Thank you so much for everything!

Angel Thompson

This is the closest hospital to my house therefore the hospital I keep going to in emergent situations. I will not come back to this hospital after my experience here the last 2 weeks. I have been hemorrhaging for 2 weeks, the diagnosis has been "I don't know" this whole time whilst pushing medications in "hopes" it will work. Asking a nurse for a mesh pair of panties and wipes to go to the bathroom to clean myself up after bleeding all over the place ... I got laughed at and asked "is that the new trend these days" until I stood up and she saw the amount of blood, didn't even apologize and walked away. I have never in my life had every ounce of dignity stripped from asking for mesh panties.

Morteza Ghadirian

We went there only once and that was for having our baby. The labour and delivery unit at grey nuns is the best ( haven’t seen other places in Edmonton, but heard some stories). They were so kind, professional, caring and knowledgeable at the same time. We had a private room afterwards over there and that was perfect too. Doctors and nurses are angels at grey nuns.

Kristen Huebner

I'm honestly really surprised at the bad reviews on here. I, myself have never had to use the grey nuns hospital but they have done so much for my family. My eldest sister spent a year there when her crohns disease got really bad, the doctors and nurses were absolutely great to her and to our mother who was there every day. After she got out and got healthy, she came back to give birth to her daughter, and even after all that time, the nurses actually remembered her! My nephew and two youngest nieces were also born there and nothing but amazing and kind people there.

Kyle May

An Absolute terrible facility. Extremely rude staff and Dr.'s that don't seem to care about their patients.

jessi lands

I cannot say enough about the staff at this hospital. My husband was there for a short visit and the nurses all seemed to be very caring for him and he is 73 now and needs more care. God bless the doctors and all the staff as they do a great job.

Burke Hughes

Broke my arm last Friday night. And after a bit of a painful wait, that was no bid deal as there were other people in more serious condition than i was (its not like my arm was getting any more broken after all). I was treated by kind efficient professional staff who got me in, x rayed, casted and out. Great job!!

Nick Cail

Great hospital one if not the most accommodating in Edmonton. Good Job!

Randi G.

waiting for the doctor was a long wait

I really appreciate this hospital very much and their services. The nursing staff is very professional and caring and doctors are also very understanding. You guys are amazing! Thank you!

Asheesh Ramphul

4 week pregnant.. me and the wife went there as she was suffering from abnominal cramp .. having tried for so long for a baby we were scared that she will have another mis carriage, we spend nearly 13 hour there in all yesterday i.e sunday 30th august.. 4 hour in triage.. before my wife could see a doctor.. who requested she has an ultra sound, 4 hour wait for an ultra sound (short of staff).. then a urine test another 4 hour wait for the result... 8hr in the raz room.. it was only when i got mad and asked the nurses whats going, then they realised that her urine sample was misplaced , they got the result, after asking 10 time then they went to grab a doctor to get her re access.. she say down for 13 hours in pain, then was told her result was ok and she can have tyledol and go home... seriously i would have had better treatment in a third world country where at least ,i could have paid for a treatment... no one deserve such treatment in a so called develop country ...

Meghilism

I came into the hospital with limited expectations ,I have been struggling with intense pain for several years in my uterus and doctors routinely shrug it off and try to give me pain killers. Finally yesterday after a huge pain attack that induces vomiting and incapacitated me- EVERY FEW WEEKS, Dr. Picard referred me to a specialist, and finally acknowledged me. I haven't even seen the specialist yet but it's a huge step on the right direction. Thank you so much for helping me, finally. I've been to the grey nuns a few times, including for surgery and no.mayyer where I live in the city this is my favorite hospital. The staff are wonderful.

Anne-Marie Waniandy

2 stars is all they deserve most of the time the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing. I've been dealing with them for over 30 years never really had a problem. But now it seems like the almighty dollar is the only thing on their minds. To be fair almost all of the nurses under 30 were good but all of the senior ones need to go back to school and get a refresher course on compassion and remember that they are not Dr's they need to realize that every patient has different needs and it is not up to them to make sometimes very critical decisions. Just got home and I am still very much upset and I will be taking my concerns to the next level and all the way to the top if I have to

Ardelle Bogner

They've tried to kill me twice. Go to the U of A Hospital.

Melissa Warner

There’s no compassion in this hospital, it’s quite sad. I’ve had to deal with a plethora of issues in the past year which has unfortunately lead me to coming here NUMEROUS TIMES (the nurse made sure to make a little jab at that one) as it is very close to home. On two occasions I’ve been told to “suck it up”, though I was dealing with a spinal leak that was made by their staff. There’s a nurse at the front triage named “J” who is absolutely horrendous to people and lacks empathy, which is strange because most nurses become a nurse for this very reason. I had to unfortunately experience her yelling at me not once but twice. The first time because I simply rang a call bell (what is it there for if we can’t use it?) the second time because I was having extreme chest pain- and she forgot to order an ecg. This same very day she yelled at a coworker for pushing a patient to the window to see her too quickly. This obviously effected the poor guy because he seemed upset after and even asked her not to yell at him). It is BEYOND unprofessional not only to patients, but to your coworkers. Burn out is a real thing, sure. But if this is the way you treat others then maybe it isn’t the job for you?

Kyle Haugen

Great hospital to have your baby!

Shannon McCutcheon

Fourth floor, unit 42 at the Grey Nun's hospital is the most rudest staff that I have ever experienced. The nursing staff is rude, ruff with patience, and the unit manager seems to like to intimidate people. Well she failed with me, she had no effect on me at all. 45 minutes to get your pain meds after asking for them, over an hour to receive help and assistance to use the rest room, at one point the staff never did come to help with the use of the restroom, breakfast served to all other patience but one, received that breakfast at 11:00 am and then lunch right after. Don't get me wrong I do understand that there are many patience per unit but really? Most of the nursing staff on this unit needs to looked into or retrained due to their bed side manner. It is uncalled for totally the way they talk to people, especially patience that are experiencing sever pain. Clean up your act nursing staff, you do have a important job but that does not makes you no better than anyone else.

Travis Driol

Cannot take action for anything, the amount of people paying for parking and not being able to go in is ridiculous. Some course of actions and put signs up stating no VISITORS in the waiting area, that way people dont waste 10 dollars waiting around. THIEFS! BE SURE I WILL NEVER RETURN!!

Jim Neufeld

I was there for over 4 hrs and people was coming in 1 to 2 hrs and they was getting to see the Dr before me. I been there for couple of times and they did that me again I went to the U of A I was taken right away and they busier than greynuns

Doesn't matter if you can't breath... Triage a nightmare!!! Felt so bad for a girl in emergency (In Labour) that I hopefully gave my space for her... To me triage is breathing... heart... blood... life or death... Seems better to come by ambulance!!! So sad... Obviously training is not based on common sense!!!

jennifer tuckey

What a horrible experience I just had at greynuns, brought my almost 2 year old child in for symptoms that included a fever of 41.3, lethargic, and extremely irritated. Waited a few hours to be seen, finally when doctor saw him he said take Advil and Tylenol and alternate for two days if symptoms don’t disappear come back in two days. Two days later and my baby still has the same symptoms, I decide to go to the stollery and they did a chest x Ray and my child has pneumonia. Thanks a lot grey nuns for. Your stellar service and aparantly unquantified doctors. Will not ever trust this hospital with my loved ones again

Fong Nguyen

overall great hospital although some updates may be needed.

peiyue Wang

I was trying to explain something to a nurse for my boyfriend at the ER. A nurse asked me if my boyfriend can speak English and why I had to speak for him in a sarcastic way. He would never ever say the same thing if we are white. I just wish racist doesn’t exist in this world.

Kat Sav

Went there for gallbladder removal. Sadly I was still slightly loopy after the surgery, so I could not remember the names of the nurses, but I wanted to express my gratitude and genuine thank you to every single one staff member that I ended up in care of today. Everyone was absolutely amazing. The lovely nurses made me feel welcome and safe, making sure I had all I need, with absolutely no rush, being patient, understanding and caring. I am feeling overwhelmed with how much genuine care and attention I was provided before and after the surgery in the recovery room and in the waiting room later. I was monitored closely, and before going to the hospital I was incredibly nervous for it was my first ever surgery, and the one with general anaesthesia as well! I am so thrilled with how nice everyone is, and just sending a huge thank you to everyone today, I could not have wished for better care and treatment than what I got today, it was absolutely lovely. Thank you to every single person who made this experience painless and as little worrisome as possible. All the love <3

edmund Rosario

No communication, rude nurses, I was there for almost 9 hours with maybe 5 mins of being looked at. I just left due to rude idiotic nurse

G Prairie

I was there today for my surgery. From Lorraine in day surgery to Cora from Lab, to my nurses Nat and all of my nurses, to my doctors Dr. Alakad and my surgeon Dr. Alhassani, operating room staffs, thank you so much I was scared going for my surgery by myself but they all made me feel safe and secure. While I was at the operating room being sedated for some reason I looked at all the staffs and felt so much love and care for them. I wish I could do something for all of them but all I can say is Thank you.

Under these trying conditions the staff was fabulous. Of course thing took a little longer than before the pandemic but the staff was caring and compassionate to my brother.

Worse surgery I had twice I should have got it done in Calgary. I wake up at almost thee end of my surgery I see a guy playing on his cell phone and now Im thinking oh they dont care about the well being of others just there pay cheque.bugs every where this place needs to get shut down

Nice staff and good doctors. They got me in quickly when I got a bad infection. Thank so much.

chahrazed berrahma

Wait time 7 hours while in pain!! Unpleasant experience and staff

S.K. Timothy Gazi

The wait time was 6 hours and the staffs weren’t caring , was a bit rude.

Ezra Fitzgerald

My main nurse was incredible. Don’t remember her name but she was very sweet to me and gave me excellent care. However, I came in with a very serious kidney infection, and was in excruciating pain. To the point where I had fainted In my chair several times and absolutely no one helped me or asked if I was okay. I was in that waiting room for 4 hours total. Severely dehydrated. People who came in after me with less severe conditions were seen before me. I remember the front desk women having a personal conversation about dinner as I was shaking uncontrollably in my chair, unable to speak or ask for help. By the time I got into a room I was so incredibly out of it I can’t even remember much of what happened besides getting my IV. The front desk woman who ignored me as my health deteriorated in that room for well over 4 hours was Caucasian, in her 50s likely and had a short platinum haircut. Something very bad could have happened due to their negligence. I texted my mother during this time in genuine belief that I was going to die.

alka thakur

worst service ever seen, Emergency means nothing for them. shutdown if you can't provide the service. No mercy for anyone not even for kids. try to stay away from this hospital to save life's.

Jason brittain

Grey Nuns hospital is 1 of the worst e.r. rooms ever I have been in. I'm dehydrated again right now and requested another cup of iced water and wouldn't bring 1 to me now and my nose is all plugged up and they told me sorry we have no decongestants in this emergency room to just blow my nose. I'm super upset with them and they haven't even came into check on me for blood sugars tonight whatsoever. I wish I got transferred to a different hospital altogether

Tom Devries

Rajneesh Shokeen

Racist hospital specially nurses in emergency ward, my wife was in severe pain waited 5 hrs but nurses didn’t care much and gave chances to people who came later. And we’re really rude. Specifically reception is the worst. Avoid going to this hospital

Riley

Went to the emergency last night for severe stomach pain. The nurses were all wonderful ladies, very helpfull and caring. I was seen by a dr.P Delaney i believe, who was understanding and willing to hear me out. He also seems to have gotten everything right. The wait time was pretty quick. I think we got there around 11:45 and were finished about 2:45. Much better experience than what i was expecting. :)

Katelyn Kirouac

B Pindorie

Worst in terms of wait times and general staff attitude and behavior. Doctors and some nurses are good. Being heart patient with angioplasty and stent, came to emergency with chest pain and palpitations. Still in the waiting area after 2 hours. No body tells how more wait, although they tell chest pain patients get top priority. They don't walk the talk.

Today I went to the Grey Nuns hospital for the first time. I had great paramedics the ladies were so sweet and caring. And I had great nurses and doctors. All of the staff was so kind!!

I had my son at Grey Nuns and it was a great experience knowing that the Nurses and Doctors are very accomodating and well knowledgable in their field! Special shout out to the 2 amazing Nurses RN Shari and RN Genesse! Thanks RN Genesse for helping me throughout my Labour until the delivery! You can tell that your in the field for a long time????! And You are amazing! ????????????????

Horrible service. Nurses and workers walk around pretenting to do something. Flies everywhere, blood on the floor, every thing looks old. All in all, awful experience.

Nadine is the nicest nurse we ever met in family ward(unit 33).She is extra polite and took extreme care of baby and mum. Dr Mccubbin is very experienced gynaecologist and handled our case with full responsibility and care. She was really fast in doing c section. Fully satisfied

Kiy MOrin

ok i just had my did there that was ok, but the nurse are not good at all. the don't help you and they fight with you about how a person should be clean.

Staff were super helpful and professional when I took my son in for a breathing issue which turned out to be a mild asthma attacks. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. They monitored him and kept me up to date on his condition. Great job grey nuns staff, thank you for taking such great care of my little boy

Avoid coming here for emergencies or illness if possible. I had someone literally blackout and get injured, left in the waiting room for 7 hours, and all that was done was a couple blood tests. No explanations, no advice. Nothing. It was quiet when we were there and a 7 hour wait for nothing. AHS needs to clean up this place, staff have 0 motivation to help, and only very few doctors actually have some sort of knowledge of medicine. History wasn't checked, vitals weren't examined, no ECG not suggestions, literally no common practice was performed. Just let them suffer in the waiting room is their motto.

R Watson

Just had ACL Rehab surgery there this morning. Impressed by every single aspect of the experience...the admitting staff, the Day Surgery support nurses, the OR nurses, every one of the 4 doctors who took the time to speak with me directly. All were caring, thorough, efficient, gentle and kind. I truly could not have been more impressed. Thank you to nurses Keeley, Natalie, Michael, and all the rest of you. (Sorry, I couldn't remember all your names.) I do hope these wonderful people get to see this review. You are all doing an awesome job! Thank you.

Sharmaine Schmidt

May of 2020 Leduc Community Hospital, EMS, Grey nuns emergency services, doctors, nurses, ccu unit, Colleen and staff and last but not least Dr. Gordon saved my life. I will never forget any of them and thank you for everything you do!!!

long long long long long wait time..

Syd M

Terrible experience yet again at this hospital. Disclaimer: obviously not all staff is bad and not helpful, triage lady who took me in was awesome and super friendly. Extremely long wait as expected. Needed a minor surgery and was waiting in a bed for over an hour. Finally a doctor came but was quite rude and putting me down for things out of my control. I was told by a medicentre doctor before to go to the hospital so I did and he said there was no reason to be there. I would not go to the hospital unnecessarily as I know they are always full and busy. Then after the surgery was done I needed to get cleaned and wrapped up. As I sit there for yet another hour waiting for a nurse to clean me up and prevent further infection, no nurse was there to help. Of course they had time to stand around talking but left me to allow my blood to dry up. I ended up leaving and walking out with bare exposed flesh on my feet since every nurse decided to ignore us. Pretty terrible a nurse won't take 5 min to send me on my way and take care of me. I was also taking up a whole big room while three old women were on beds out in the hallway, probably abandoned as well.

Raya Jaan

Me and my mom came in to the emergency and checked in everything was fine, the nurse that check my mother in was nice and professional. My mother got called in for a room , we were waiting for the doctor, this is where most discusting and intolerable conversation starts. As the doctor walks in he offers a handshake, and my mother firstly apologies and refused the handshake due to religious reasons, then he called it odd since hes is touching her stomach anyways so why deny the handshake so we just let it go and he continues with his questions and we answer to all, after little while my mother brings up what he said in my language (Farsi) , explaining why she refused the handshake , the doctor asking me twice what my mother said and i explained to him, my mother refused the handshake due to religious reasons, and for you to check her stomach its something she does not have options, then he goes on about we as Canadians should adapt to its culture and its rude to refuse a handshake, and goes on discriminating. Even after explaining to him just because its rude for him it does not mean she should violet her religion, and point being the first thing that mother did, she apologized that she cannot handshake, so why the offence and why the questions ? are you here to check her illness or question her religion beliefs. overall it was very unpleasant visit. its 2019 and people are still discriminating its unbelievable especially its from someone like a doctor.

Debra Schroeder

My sister spent the last weeks of her life in the Palliative Care unit at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton. I was by her side throughout this time and I want to commend the entire staff for the care and support they provided for her and for her family. It is never easy to lose a family member but it is an experience that can definitely be impacted either in a negative or a positive way by the doctors and nurses. The professional expertise, the coordination of services, the patience and the desire to keep both the patient and the family as well informed as possible were all demonstrated in the time we spent in the Hospital. Thank you Unit 43. Your care and compassion were really appreciated.

Jillian Thorton

not good staff

delivered here on on June 7 2019. Dr Corbett induced me, the nurse who assisted him was Charlene(?). They were both extremely friendly and professional. The main nurse throughout my delivery was Jeffrey and I can’t imagine delivery without him. From start to finish he was calm, caring and reassuring. When there was complications with my epidural he kept me calm and got me the help I needed. He and the female nurse who was working with him (I’m sorry I can’t remember her name) basically delivered my baby themselves with the dr only coming in at the last minute (but I didn’t push very long) They were both outstanding but I’ll never forget how kind Jeffrey was to me during absolute chaos. Thank you once again, you’re amazing!

william beaumont

I have to compliment the entire stuff including the ambulance crew, doctors nurses, and technitians. They saved my life. Diagnosed my problem operated and fixed it all on the same day. Great team.

My wife is in grey nuns hospital. She has been there since the 7th. I was told to leave hospital grounds as my wife was no longer in ICU. She is not in life threatening condition any longer. I have been here since she got here & I don't know what the made them say this as I haven't been any trouble to anyone. I was, in the end(&because I was wasn't taking NO for a answer) told I can stay for 1 night. I have a hard time understanding why they treat us this way when we are from out of town. Then to top it all off , it took 45 minutes to look in on my wife when I told the nurse she was having a hard time breathing , having chest pain, & pain in her hip going towards her groin. I ask WHY!!!!!!!! Then the nurse threatened to call there security to get me removed as I got mad. So my advice , watch your loved ones very closely when they are at the grey nuns hospital. Its just luck that my wife didn't have a heart attack and DIE.

Liz Nugent

Having surgery here tomorrow for an ovarian cyst which they pushed. I told them i was in pain and they refused to give me anymore meds. I am currently sitting in bed and not being able to sleep. Now i understand the protocol but when I stayed at the royal alex they gave me more than enough to help me with my pain. Also I was told since the surgery was being pushed I could eat. That was at 6:30 PM and it is now 11PM and they are only giving me food now. I have been here since 6:30 am and not one single person offered anything. I will not be coming back here again. I just pray the surgery goes great so I can leave as fast as I can.

Went to meet my parents as my dad was taking mom in to the ER. I honestly have never seen such Carelessness when it came to procedures. Mom needed to have water sample taken that she was storing which her liver caused. The doctor dropped the needle on the floor and left it there. Got another and did the procedure. He had also removed a heart lead from her. The doctor didn’t clean up after him self and my mom needed to eat. Needle, procedure stuff remained in the room for a good hour. It was me that cleaned up the novicane, the towels and needle off the floor. It was me that silenced the ECG by reattaching the lead the doctor removed which btw came in to check manually cause the machine was being erratic! Yes cause you took of the lead! Seriously if you can go to the u of a or Alex go there instead! No wonder people usually don’t come out of this hospital!!! Update: unfortunately mom being so close to this hospital ( East Sherwood) ended up having to go back. She remained in the ER for almost 4 days before finally getting a room. By this time she was gone from her liver not detoxifying. We witnessed the pump never getting drained from the night. And mom hallucinated as she was in the noisiest part of the ER. People constantly coming and going and she remained in there 4 days. Mom was moved up stairs and eventually got reunited with her prior roomie before finally losing her mental ability and was moved to her own room. October 16, 2019 mom passed. Entire time they kept asking us what do we want to do. Give her the transplant spite what your seeing! Was the most worst! My dad was losing it every time that question got asked! I had asked them to not go back here but they did anyways as moms specialist was here. Considering how he was when I met him, mom actually needed a specialist at one of the acute centers! He was too new! His drug therapy gave her the cancer that blocked what she needed and why would you not scope it sooner! They switched it to a lymph node instead telling us nothing about her liver! Yet she swelled up enough and had no detectable alubimum! Day before she passed was when they gave her that the first time. She started to un swell and warm up. But she was to gone to stay with us. She passed beside dad. Took me many months to update this. I love you mom and think about you all the time.

They helped us with the passing of my sister Julia. If only God would have stepped in to save her too.

Slow but very helpful

Lana and Boris in the MRI and awesome - make you feel at ease and comfortable with your procedure. Lana was great at explaining and understanding all details.

Seen 20 to 25 people get to see a doctor before ridiculous

The doctor I got was very nice and I had 3 nurses I came in contact with once I was brought back. All of them were very pleasant! for this I gave two stars. Other then that we checked online wait times (which I know are an estimate but this was way off) they said 1 hour but i left my home at 9:30pm and didn't get home until 4:00am! I went in becuase the same foot i injured 2 weeks ago had randomly started to swell and bruse for no reason, I also couldn't feel my toes or move them properly and every thing had been healing great until then. I waited there that long to be told there was nothing wrong with me becuase he was "expecting a badly infected wound"....well I was guessing it may be due to an infection I'm not a doctor that's why I came here! Anyway so I went home being told "that can happen after an injury" only to wake up with it twice the size and purple and had to go into a family doctor today to actually get it figured out (so staying up all night at the ER was a big waste of time). And the icing on my experience actually didn't happen to me it happened to an elderly man who was accompanying someone having breathing difficulties! Well if you've ever been to any hospital it says right there on a big sign to go right to the front if you're having breathing problems as that could be a really serious emergency. This man had a loud voice but he was polite (even though he was stressed). He said "good evening" and tried to say his issue and this nurse cuts him off right away and starts yipping at him to wait his turn and talking about "triage" like this guy was supposed to understand her! She never let him get out what he was trying to say and she then screamed at him as he was walking away that he was the one yelling at her!!! Another nurse came and handled them and reassured them it was ok and the breathing was well enough and they were next up but I couldn't believe the one at the desk! I mean If you think that's yelling maybe you shouldn't be a nurse...or maybe you should try working as a first responder or psychiatric nurse becuase bad day or not, you get paid enough money to deal with people a whole heck of a lot better then that! That's the kind of nurse that makes people afraid of hospitals.

My wife had delivery early this year, I want to commend all the healthcare workers especially nurse Tiffany and Kassandra as well as Dr. Bow for doing a great job despite the pandemic. You truly are our heroes without capes. Thank you to all staff who take good care of us. - Jay & Roville

I am giving a star Just Because of the expérience I had in emergency with Dr Haque. The guy shouldn't be in Grey Nuns as he doesn't treat patients as they should be. Such a dissapointment to be honest

Very bad hospital never coming back

eric johnson

Called about covid testing and got answered with rudeness and a swift hang up.

I went here to visit someone who was hospitalized a year ago. The doctor was nice, but this is not a clean hospital. Very disappointing.

mahmoud pooyeh

the best friendly , and caring hospital that I had ever seen in my life after 26 years of experience in medical field . short emergency time (less than 30 min).well experienced staff , politely , and friendly .

Milton Barnes

While the care I recieved here was decent, albiet slow, the parking situation is pretty bad. The prices they charge for parking are downright criminal and predatory. Hospitals should not be charging people just to come to the hospital. It's not right. I have deliberately avoided going to any Covenant hospitals since coming here, even though the care was pretty good just for this reason alone. I'd sooner drive out to Leduc to get checked out.

0 Stars - When I had a broken arm in summer I waited over 6 hrs in emergency with a broken bone while others were wisked in, in front of me. Now I'm trying to get connected to the ward that my uncle is in and no one answers the phone at all. this hospital has issues try to avoid it at all costs.

johnny smitherman

Great place for being ignored, better off even with broken bones to just stay home you will be better off. Unless you like being treated like cattle waiting to be slaughtered.

harbhajan singh

There were only 2 people in the emergency and we waited for more than 4 hours. There were like 20 nurses working and not assisting people. It’s more like a library with everyone on computers and doing paperwork and people suffering there. An emergency room is supposed to be for people that need immediate attention, not a place to wait for hours and suffer. I would like to give it zero stars but couldn’t. One of the worst experiences ever.

Shawn C

My wife recently went in for a surgery....the nurses and triage were the most unorganized rude people I have ever seen. The actual Doctor doing the surgery was excellent....but after the surgery they made her recover in a hallway with tons of people walking by and bumping into her. Also the hospital doesnt seem very clean....

Tina Annear

The hospital itself has fast and friendly staff, but I think that people there for tests or procedures should not have to pay for parking because some people are low income or they have to drive a long way to go for these procedures and it already costs them a lot.

Poonam Kalkat

Lisa LePrieur

I don't understand that this is a hospital.. so why in the world do they only have 1 nurse in the blood collection lab... this is brutal.. you have to wait forever.. it would run much faster even if they had 2 nurses... I can't believe it crazy wait time

Kim Winsel

It was the 2nd worst experience of all of my hospital experiences. Dr's were great but the nursing staff were rude & opinionated. Being THAT UNprofessional was disgusting. This isn't the 1st time I had such a bad experience @ the Grey Nuns hospital. I was there once before, then even the dr's were terrible. If you need to go to a hospital, please don't go to this hospital. Opinions should not be given unless asked for. I gave 1 star because the dr's were caring & professional.

Julie Plouffe

Dr Corbett at the Colposcopy clinic is awesome. Very professional and personable. Katie who also works in the clinic is very warm, friendly and calming. Thank you both very much!

Terrible double standard place for delivery recovery area. 2016 we went for normal public room for recovery for our first child. We spent 2 days and literally it was a nightmare horrible experience. Most of the nurses were rude. They were expecting us to do all their work from changing catheter to feeding baby. 2020 we unwillingly went to Labor. This time we spent $400 for """ private room""" .. Most of the Nurses were amazing. We were stake of shock during our stay. Government must intervene in this situation if anyone can't afford the ""private room"" they won't get a better service vs who pay from their own packet. And suggestion for nurses that please do your job and make patients and new born babies stay smooth not miserable.

Why the hell is there a "pay to park" in the Emergency parking? I show up with an emergency (my daughter wasn't breathing) and now I have a parking ticket that I can't even get taken care of? there isn't time to pay when there is an emergency. Not to mention I was ticketed 1 minute after I got there. The hospital staff itself though was good.

Bhushan Vajaria

Underwent a minor surgery today, was discharged in an hour without proper post op check up, with profuse bleeding from incisions. I couldn't imagine even this would happen in Canada. Nurse (?) put just a thin piece of gauze piece!!! I practiced medicine (including surgical assistance) for more than 30years in India. And I am not allowed to practice here in Canada

Nicole Kent

This is the WORST hospital I have ever been to. The bathroom is level 0 disgusting. This place is full of ignorant disrespectful nurses and doctors. They froze my foot and cut it open for no reason at all. I think I'll be speaking with my lawyer as soon as someone shows up and dresses my wound so I can leave.

anne wahu

My mum went for a CT Scan and she had about 4 different people try to poke her to insert her IV with none of them agreeing to bring her son in who was waiting in the waiting room for her to tell him how much pain she was in as they seemed to be ignorant of it.she went home with a swollen arm and a burn that turned into a scar from the hot water they poured on her to try and get her veins. Hospitals response after a complaint was that they have changed their procedures and will not use hot water again. Not even an apology to my mum.

Went to the courts to get a Mental Health Warrant for my younger brother who is struggling with Mental Health Issues, they were suppose to keep him and do a proper assessment and they did not, they told him that he was allowed to leave and they didn't even have him for 24 hrs. I am so upset, is it because we are Indigenous? I feel like the health system has failed my brother. I pray nothing happens to him. I will be going to Human Rights and back to the courts and see what can be done about this.

Came in today 7 weeks pregnant. Low blood sugars. Can’t keep them up. 2.7 and dropping. The nurse at front told me to wait at triage. I did but only one nurse and taking forever meanwhile blood sugar still dropping. I asked the other nurse if there’s someone else that can triage me don’t want to pass out. She said have to wait. I tried to explain my situation she offered a wheelchair. I said no I just don’t want to pass out which is how I’m feeling. Then triage nurse wouldn’t help me unless I apologized. I didn’t do anything just asked for help. Now I bet if I had walked in and passed out I would have gotten help faster. The doctor and nurse have been nice while in a bed but still upset how I was treated when I’m worried about not only my own health and safety but also the safety of my baby. I live 5 minutes from nuns but I think I would rather deliver at RAH.

Gurminder Dhillon

It's a Horrible hospital, only Nurses looking after the patient , seems like they hardly have any doctor in the emergency, Nurses come back and keep saying oh doctor is coming, for 6 hrs doctor no show, I think doctors don't even care about the patients at Grey Nuns Hospital

I’m writing because I noticed a review of less than 4. I don’t get it. Clearly these reviewers have never been in a hospital. Grey Nuns = 4.6 U of A = 2.3 Sturgeon = 4.7 Strathcona = 3.7 Peter Lougheed = 4.1 Foothills = 4.1 I wish I didn’t know so much about hospitals. There’s nothing wrong with the food. (Except that it’s healthy)

For the past two years, one of our favourite places to go has been Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton, AB. This hospital is just 22 kilometres from our home. The care that we have received there has always been excellent. They are very responsive to questions and requests for medical attention if needed, and they are also generous in providing information when asked about their services. This is not a large facility with many doctors but the care here is timely and effective in all cases that I have seen or heard of any time I have visited Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton, AB over the past few years.

Went to the ER for chest pain's. while I was there for 6 hours, everyone who dealt with me was beyond fantastic. This is why I stick to Grey Nuns over any other hospital in Edmonton.

While I enjoyed the nice, friendly & helpful staff, the linens could be cleaned a bit better. Don't enjoy anything spilled on my blanket, but not a bad place not all

Doctors and Staff are nice and attentive, however my father who had a heart attack was placed in a double room, which for some reason had a completely open toilet (no walls or any thing, and completely visible from all sides of the room) on his roommates side. Myself and others who had visited him laughed it off at first just assuming that it was never used but on his last day there while I was there visiting a nurse had come in to check on the other patient and he had stated he needed to use the washroom. Other visitors and myself included assumed that he would be wheeled to the bathroom, but instead he was directed to the toilet in the room to relive himself. This man was not capable of walking far but had been getting up to look out the window among other things and was more than capable of standing up to sit in a wheel chair. Everyone in the room vacated as soon as we noticed that this patient was defecating with only a partial cloth curtain between us and the other side of the room. We questioned my father on the matter and he said that it had been happening the whole time he was there, but did not want to complain and upset the nurses that were caring for him while he was there. For FOUR days he was unable to leave a room that was essentially a washroom that smelled of feces. Other visitors had previously stated that the room smelled bad but we all just assumed that it was the patients passing gas. We are extremely upset that this had been happening, there was nothing stopping the other patient from being transported to a regular bathroom. I would urge anybody with a loved one headed to this hospital especially unit 24 (coronary care) to make sure they have a private room.

Patricia Atkins

Everyone was very helpful and kind. In x-ray department the curtains for patient privacy needs to be replaced. They are not large enough to cover area properly. The neighboring patient could see every one dressing and undressing. No respect for privacy.

Jeff Carlion

There is so much wait time, it is horrible healthcare. A guy with a injury or that's about to die has to wait too. It is ridiculous!

Chelsea MacDonald

Lauren McCubbing

I had some respiratory tests done here and it was probably some of the best medical care I've received - the staff always answered the phones and were very dedicated to helping their patients however they could.

Matt Bryanton

We just had our baby at the Grey Nuns. It was of course a wonderful experience as expected but the great staff at the Grey Nuns was really what made the difference! From the minute we arrived for my wife’s C-section all the nurses were nothing short of exceptional! We know with everything going on right now that tensions are sometimes high. I also heard throughout my stay that there was some families having a real hard time in our unit (Unit 34) and I know the hospital is basically running at full capacity having taken on patients from the Misericordia, but the stress that the staff was no doubt under was never displayed to us. We were treated so well by all the nursing staff, they were so helpful, understanding, kind and showed us nothing but compassion! I will never forget the birth of my first daughter of course but I will also never forget the amazing staff at the Grey Nuns! You will forever be in our hearts and please know that you have truly made a difference! Love the B-Family from room 3404 ❤️

Cheryl Deakin

Great staff, knowledgeable and friendly.

Charmi Musong

Worst operator. Rude & very unsympathetic of my condition. I just inquired to her if I could transfer my result because I would like to be serviced by a good obgyn Dr. Christina but she was really rude telling me its up to my emergency doctor to decide you will have to wait, dont know if anyone will handle yoou. She was very unprofessional, she shouldnt be in her job answering calls from suffering patients. I feel sorry for all the patients being answered by her.

muni gounder

Really slow hospital. Staffs are dump. Took my daughter in emergency and it took more than 4 hours.

Gayle Compton

I was in yesterday in the Endoscopy Dept with Dr Switzer, and I have to say the nurses were all stellar! They treated me with such kindness and were all very patient with me. From the staff screening at the front door, to the kindness they showed my son when he came to pick me up was noteworthy. A heartfelt thank you to you all!

Matt York

If you are looking for any help from the girls at the EMT desk I wouldn't hold your breath. Talk about rude and inconsiderate to helping any of your needs, called two times and got a different person both times with the worst attitude to helping me find what i was looking for. Very inconsiderate, i would recommend finding another job that does not involve trying to assist people with their needs

Brittany Adams

I just had my baby here and it was the most humbling experience due to the absolute selflessness of the nurses and staff. I cannot believe the amazing treatment I was given in postpartum and honestly the nurses are angels sent by heaven. I don't know how anyone could ever give the labour and delivery ward or postpartum a bad review on here. The speed at which they attended every need... Just incredible. I am so honoured. Thank you to all the nurses who helped with me, my partner Jamie and Baby Dodger. Thanks to Dr. Laura Karis-Allen and Dr. Mcubbin. Just an excellent team. Every doctor was so attentive. I couldn't believe the speed at which they attended every need especially since how many other couples were there... I'll never know what they deal with in the run of a shift. This hospital needs more credit.

Kevin Simon

I have been here many tines and every time was terrible 1 came in with a skin infection they didnt test and treated me for the wrong infection for a week every 8 hours and I almost died.Evey time I have ever come its at least 3 hours and never listen to what i say im here again with a dislocated shoulder I came at 1am and its 6am im still here

My dad was in emergency overnight and all the staff there were really friendly and professional. Even after getting transferred to a ward, the doctors and nurses there were great. They also had a nutritionist and OT who came by to provide helpful tips for my dad before he got discharged. Thankful for such a great team at the Grey Nuns.
