I was a long-time, loyal client of Chelsea Panico (aka @josshair). I even followed her all the way to Loki Salon from L-Squared, despite the inconvenient commute. I always tipped generously (20-25%, even when I’d lost my job), allowed her to up-sell me on products, & frequently sung her praises on social media. But she lost me—as a customer & as a friend—when she failed to do her job properly & then lashed out at *me—the client—for *her mistake. I hesitated to write this review for several months; however, I believe that her clients & potential future clients have a right to know what they’re getting themselves into in case they’re ever dissatisfied with Ms. Panico’s work. As a cancer survivor, it was extremely important for me to be able to participate in the Colour for Cancer campaign, & raise money & awareness for a cause that is near & dear to my heart. I showed Chelsea several pictures, all of which are depicted on my Instagram page—ViCarrieousLee—along with a couple post-appointment pictures that were taken mere hours afterward. As my followers were able to see, there was barely a trace of pink in my hair. And after spending so much money gradually lightening my locks over the course of several months (to the point where some of her followers who had seen the pictures she posted of me on her account actually wanted to copy my colour, which was very flattering), Chelsea had darkened the hairs that were supposed to be pink, so I ended up with a much darker ‘do that I despised. Despite her mistake, I still generously tipped her 20-25% & even allowed her to up-sell me on a couple expensive products. As one who has made many mistakes in my life, I am very forgiving of others; however, when a person makes a mistake, but is unwilling to take responsibility or make amends, then it becomes a problem. First she tried to charge me even *more to fix *her mistake (And this is on top of the fact that when I arrived for my appointment—not beforehand—I was informed that the prices had gone up, so I had already paid more than $400 including the colour, which was done incorrectly, the additional products, and the tip). Since that was obviously an unsatisfactory solution for me, we went back and forth for several more weeks. By the middle of the month, I realized there was no point in even trying to put the pink back in my hair, as it was too late to start canvassing for donations or expecting people to pay when I would have colour in my hair for only the latter half of the month. Plus I didn’t really trust Chelsea to try putting in the pink again, since she was unsuccessful the first time & didn’t react well to my dissatisfaction. So instead I requested a partial refund, which seemed fair to me; however, Chelsea clearly disagreed & sent me an extremely unprofessional & immature text (which I’ve also included on my IG page), essentially “dumping” me as a client just because she was mad about having to pay me back $100 “out of her own pocket” (Meaning she would get to keep the remaining $300 that originally came out of *my pocket, for a colour I was completely unsatisfied with & would have to pay to get fixed). She just came across as very two-faced & selfish, suddenly turning against a client she once treated as a friend simply because she hadn’t done what I wanted & was more concerned about making money for herself than satisfying her customer or wasting *my hard-earned money. Like I said, we all make mistakes in our respective professions. But in my line of work, if I had made a mistake on one of my clients’ press releases, resulting in them being extremely irate & unsatisfied, I would start by acknowledging my mistake (if I hadn’t already been fired) before apologizing & then going on to do everything in my power to make it up to the client. Chelsea seems to lack the maturity & professionalism required to take these steps & would rather treat her clients like they’re expendable (“dumping” them before blocking their phone numbers & social media accounts) than admit her mistakes & work toward rectifying them/Thx 4 reply!

Great experience at Loki Hair Studio. I was able to get an appointment right before they had to temporarily close due to Covid. I had a big amount of hair cut off and was beyond pleased when I was left the salon with my hair cut. Liz was my hair stylist and she was amazing - I most definitely will be a returning customer.. She listened to what I wanted and asked me questions about my hair and vision throughout my appointment to ensure that I would be happy with my haircut.

I booked an appointment because this place had great reviews. I had an appointment with liz. I had showed her pictures of the hair that i liked and she told me that i needed a balayage. I told her that i did not want ash in my hair and she said don't worry i will make it a little beige and its going to look perfect. I hesitated and said okay. I ended up with hair that my husband said is dead and gray looking. I paid $500 for the service. $150 deposit and the rest at the end of the service. At the end of the appointment i expressed my concern about the ash and darker than expected roots. I said that i would sleep on it. She said no problem absolutely. She said that if you want to come back i can pop in a few highlights and brighten it for you if you like. My concern is that i was not really explained that balayage would not lighten my roots like i had expected. When i showed the pictures i was using them for colors that i liked. Now when i called her back to have the few highlights, she told me that that is an additional service and i would have to pay more to correct something that i feel was not clearly explained to me. I have gone to the same hairdresser for 20 years and have had to find someone new. Maybe im not versed in this new terminology but its not my job.. So i would not recommend her based on her this and i feel that her demeanor changed when i told her that i did not like the colour. I never leave reviews but i really believe that this important so that the customer and the salon can learn from this and have a better system in place so that both parties are happy and like the end result. For $500 i should be happy with the results right? Response to below: Your response to me indicates your arrogant level of service and failure in customer service. No where in the response did you offer to try and rectify the poor job that was done. Yes i did tell the stylist no big deal because i didn’t want her to feel bad because i know she tried even though i was not happy with the result. I also want to say that the reason i didn’t stay so she could add highlights is because i have a small baby at home and didn’t want to leave him for longer than necessary, which was why I called the next morning. And my total was you are correct just under $500 because in Canada we have to pay taxes and i think that my tip to her was because i am a nice person.

Loki Hair Studio was truly a dream come true! I had such a wonderful experience with Jodi as my hair stylist, and would highly recommend her to anyone looking to have their hair done. Jodi did my cut and balayage, and I am absolutely thrilled with the results of my hair. She was extremely reliable and knew exactly the look and feel I was hoping to achieve with my hair. I would highly recommend Jodi to anyone looking to have their hair done! I was also overwhelmingly impressed with the precautions that Loki had in place with Covid. I went to this place pre COVID because of their Instagram posts. After my experience I would not recommend. I asked for a blond balayage and my hair looked the exact same when it was done. My friends/colleagues could not tell I dyed my hair at all and I paid over $250 for the service. Mind you I have gotten balyage in the past elsewhere and my hair always looks super blond. When I called to see if I could be reimbursed a part of the fee as I did not feel I got what I wanted they said this wouldn't be possible and didn't seem to care that I had a bad experience. I would save your money and go elsewhere. Their Instagram posts do not reflect their quality unfortunately.

I went here many years ago pre COVID to get a blonde balayage done. It was my first time getting my hair professionally done in a salon after years of doing it myself using dye boxes. I showed a picture of what I wanted to Julia (I believe that was her name), the person who did my hair, who immediately told me that because of my hair colour at the time, I would not be able to get those same exact results. I was completely fine with that, I just wanted to start the process. It took a few hours, but my hair looked pretty good and the blonde was a nice shade. However, the reason why I’m giving this place 2 stars is the weird treatment I received after the service. She started complaining about the service she performed on my hair. I understand working on a colour correction can be exhausting but that’s like…your job? Also complained about a $20 tip I gave her, after like 5 hours of service, which I guess it’s fine to be dissatisfied with the amount but that was my first time going to a salon myself to get my hair dyed and I wasn’t sure what a fair amount would be. Anyway, that experience alone has put me off into going here in the future and I never went back. So it’s a nice establishment but I found it lacking in customer service.
