Love, love, love this salon! I have been seeing Carol for around 15 years now and would never go anywhere else! They are so attentive, friendly and do amazing work. I have had dozens of hairstyles, just as many colours and always leave satisfied. To the person that left a bad review, you are at fault because stylists can't read people's minds and if you were not happy with your colour, you should have said so at the time and they would have done their best to fix it for you. You may not have been clear about what you wanted, or perhaps the colour did not react to your underlying hair colour the way it should have, which is always a possibility. Instead of speaking up at the time, you chose to hide behind a keyboard and complain. SMH.

I love getting my hair done here. Everyone is super friendly and really knowledgable about hair care and you definitely feel like you're in the East York community whenever you walk in. It's always great just catching up while you get your hair done, you feel like you're in high school again. (In a good way!) And of course they style my hair so nicely, you definitely get a good value in what you're paying. I highly recommend this place!

My adventure started with Carol when she was at another salon (which shall remain nameless), and the owner was on vacation, so she did my hair. I wasn't particularly happy with my hair at the time, but I'm a loyal hair girl who was afraid to move on. She was not only a super fun person to chat and hang out with, but she actually gave me the hair I wanted for once in my life! Since then I've even gone to the same salon and stared that same owner in the face while letting Carol do my hair, no shame. She's that good. So happy to finally see her on her own in such a beautiful place. All good vibes here you guys!

Carol does amazing work! The one thing everyone compliments me on is my hair - always - thanks to Carol! I have been going to her for years and have had friends who have been ectastic with her work! She also did my hair for a photoshoot and the pic was featured in a national magazine. The salon is new but my experience with Carol has been for years. If you see a bad review, I would be highly skeptical and deem it as a 'fake' account. Carol pays attention to detail, is an amazing colourist and my waist long hair has many layers that she has always been incredible at cutting. I highly recommend her and visiting her salon at this awesome location. Pick up a Starbucks across the street or visit the LCBO right there too. This is a neighbourhood salon that will make all our East Yorkers look even sharper than they do now.

I've had the best experience here. Irma has been absolutely wonderful in helping me decide and cut my hair after I completely ruined it on my own. However the entire staff is very helpful. I'd like to update my review to add, during the pandemic my appointment was postponed, obviously. The very kind people at shampoo contacted me AS SOON as they knew they were going to be opening again soon. This customer service cant be beat, let alone the incredible work they do. I dont even live in eat york anymore and I will ALWAYS make the effort to go anyways. I reccomend you all do the same.

Not sure this is the best place for shorter cuts. I had gone here based on good reviews after my usual hairdresser had returned to her home country. Colour was pretty good but cut disappointed. I was asked so many questions about how my hair should be cut and coloured, I found it a bit odd - I go to a hairdresser because they are the professional and I did at one point say my main concern is just that it looks good. It did look good when I left, but after a week of dealing with it at home I realized the problem was that it was weirdly different lengths on each side and at the back and just was very imprecisely cut in general - it looked like a cut that had been grown out, with no discernible style. Usually friends/family/husband compliment me on a new cut/colour but not this time. Though I know I could have gone back to ask it to be corrected, I was concerned it would end up too short and I’d still not end up with a decent cut. I just trimmed the really long floppy bits myself (something I would not usually do, but I figured it couldn’t be much worse) and will grow it a bit before going elsewhere for my next cut. The hairdresser was a lovely person and I am sure many people are very happy with her, especially as the price for a cut and colour is reasonable, but I think maybe you either need to have a very simple longer style or be accustomed to giving very specific instructions about how you want your hair done.

Carol has taken my hair from pixie cut, to long with bangs and everything in between! I've also gone from naturally almost black hair to blonde (sadly more grey seems to be needing the coverup lately then not). They know their products and are awesome to share after care tips to make your colour last. (When I had red I was told to use a red deposit colour shampoo. And now blonde to avoid brassiness to use another). I've referred many friends and family to Carol and Irene. All of whom are still clients. And the great thing... none of use have the same cut or colour! Highly recommend!

Going to Shampoo is always the highlight of my week. Carol makes my hair into the best version of itself. She's even managed to bond with my shy and reserved toddler who usually screams if someone tries to cut his hair. If there is was an option to give this salon ten stars I would! This salon is by far the best salon in East York. I was absolutely impressed with how immaculate and clean the salon is and I knew the moment I stepped in I was in good hands. The staff was courteous, friendly and professional. I've been seeing Carol for ten years. I used to switch hairdressers frequently but Carol understands my hair! It's very fine, yet frizzy in parts. She colours it beautifully and cuts it in a way that I can manage it on a daily basis. My hair has been ultra short and platinum blonde, and even had a hot pink streak through it a few years ago. The styles and cuts all reflected my lifestyle at the time. Her new salon is simply beautiful, modern yet very classy. This is why I make the trek from Milton each month to see her. A good hair stylist is worth an hour in the car each way. The review of the lady that gave one star is obviously one of those fake reviews, given by a competitor which is sad really. How jealous and how low do you have to stoop? You only have to look at my picture to know that these girls understand colour. It's even more obvious when you click on this chick's profile and you see she's only ever left 3 reviews, one of whom was the former workplace of Carol. Nice try though, love. Lol

I've been going to Carol to get my hair done for about seven years now, and she's always made me look my best! From updo's for events, along with having my hair dyed blonde, red, brown and ombre'd a few different tones, my hair has always remained healthy. The staff is very knowledgeable when it comes to maintaining your hair between appointments (so that the colour doesn't fade, or turn too brassy...), they are all very creative and can give great recommendations for hair style and colour based on complexion, face shape, etc., they are very professional, and the environment of the salon as a whole is relaxing and absolutely reflects the quality of service that you'll be receiving! I'd definitely recommend coming to this salon; the staff is passionate and will make sure you leave looking your best!

I never been soo disappointed, I really wanted to like this place. You really need to know what you want as they won't give you any input at all or try to find out exactly what you trying to achieve or what are your hair issues are. I ended up with a way too dark color for me which makes me look much holder and highlight the fact I have not a lot of hair ( which is already a hard issue to deal with for a women) and a very bad haircut, definitely not worth what I pay for, even for their reasonable rate. At this point I might got better from the cheap places! What is the point of going to a professional! Soo disappointed and now very self conscious, I won't even go out!

I started coming here after a friend recommended it to me and it is so close to my house how could I not? I generally see Carol but have also have seen 2 of the 3 other stylists there and they are great! I have a long standing appointment every 5 weeks for the next year to get my roots done. The space is bright and clean parking is paid but easy to find. So happy to be part of the clientele!

The place looked nice and fancy but needs to be cleaned. The waiting area has a lot of dust and I can tell that it is not tendered to very often. The person that did my hair was also very aggressive and I felt strands being ripped off a few times. Depends on who is your hair dresser, some of them are very good and nice but others aren't the best. I've gotten better cuts done cheaper.

Her new store is not only stunning and modern but the atmosphere is welcoming, happy and a place where you can go and feel pampered. A previous review which gave the salon one star stated don't judge a stylist based on the way the store looks but I can attest that when you see Carol she is nothing but professional and an expert at her craft. Again I have been a client of hers for 15 years. Her prices are very fair and again I can't emphasize enough how amazing you will feel when you leave the salon with your new hairstyle. I am so happy Carol opened her own place in a location where you are steps from anything you need. 1/5 stars ! I thought I would come to this salon since it popped up in my area. I was WRONG. I wanted to touch up my roots, as some grey was starting to show through. I got some next colour and it was WAY OFF from my current colour. They say they have years of experience but I don't see it. Just because the store looks nice doesn't mean you should come here. They didnt even want to fix the problem after either, I left and I'm never going back.

It has been years since I have left a hair salon and felt so unqualifiedly pleased with what I saw in the mirror. Irma was amazing! The colour and cut are absolutely terrific. She paid attention to what my wishes/preferences/needs were and did a beautiful job bringing them to life. Also, she is possibly the most precise, painstaking stylist I have ever encountered over the (all too many) years - focussed and dedicated. I came for third time to this place and this time a new lady cut my hair, (blond young lady) I wouldn't recommend you to let her touch your hair at all, I asked her to cut a cm and she literally cut more than 15, when I told her that it was to short she said that she had to connect the back to the front, and kept cutting, so why she didn't explain me that before she start cutting? She agreed to leave it as it was but then had to cut it shorter? This sounds more like she made mistake and then tried to justify herself. I'm so upset my hair is too short that I cant even Hold it

I recently moved into the neighbourhood, and my old salon was quite far away, so I wanted to try Shampoo based on it's high reviews. I have dark brown hair, but wanted Rose Gold balayage for my birthday and upcoming party. I brought three photos to show the stylist the colour palette I was interested in, and she agreed to go on the softer side, as I didn't want full pink hair. I walked out with a gold/caramel-y colour, no rose at all. The lighting in the salon was not great, and it was very overcast, so I thought the rose colour was very slight. I went back 24 hours later, because I could tell it was not what I wanted, and the stylist said we never discussed Rose Gold as a colour, and that she didn't realize the pictures I showed her was what I actually wanted. I think that response immediately turned me off. Apparently I have to wait for the toner to fade a bit before any additional colour can go in my hair, and I'll allow them to fix the mistake, but I don't think I'll be going back after. The overall experience was decent. I could tell the stylist has talent, and she was quick and efficient. The salon is small, but tastefully decorated and clean. I just feel like I had a bad experience due to miscommunication. ****edited review**** I went back and the stylist fixed the colour of my hair. My hair was an all hands on deck situation so I wasn't stuck waiting for a long time, and I appreciate that. The colour turned out exactly how I wanted it to look, and I thank Shampoo for their effort.

My worst hair cut ever. And I am not a picky person! I have a short hair. I just wanted hair stylist to cut my hair a little bit shorter, and I specifically told her that I don't want my hair to be a triangle shape after cutting it. Well now it is a PERFECT triangle shape!!
