I had been loyal to another hair stylist for many years and was looking for something different. A friend recommended Karen Vu and I’m SO glad I made the change! She made me feel so comfortable and confident in going from suuuuper long hair (that I had for 4 years) to a bob with bangs— exactly the look I had requested. She was very patient and professional and I’ll be going to her for every cut from now on. Highly recommend!

Absolutely heartbroken after the worlds most awful and embarrassing experience at your Toronto salon this morning. I asked for a long bob which was going fine and dandy until the educator picked up the scissors and proceeded to give me awful layers around my face. He then handed the scisors back to the student who I stopped to tell them that this is not what I had asked for. I showed the educator multiple photos but yet it was MY fault that the cut turned out poorly. I started crying and was told that I was being abusive to the student. He repeatedly made me feel bad that I was paying a student hairdresser price and offered to refund my money. I wasn't allowed to defend myself or ask for a correction. Instead I sat at the front desk in tears and was told if I didn't like it I could pay $120 for a stylist's time. I have never ever been treated so badly or made to feel like a beggar. Just because someone goes to see a student hairdresser that doesn't mean they are entitled to a poor experience. Worse yet is that it wasn't the student's fault. They weren't even the ones who put the layers in. I am mortified that this was allowed to happen and even more so that I was told that I was making a scene and that they would call the police. I cannot believe the behaviour of the educator. You should be ashamed that this person represents your brand.

Loraine cut and styled my hair but she did mostly what she wanted, not what I told her I wanted, even though I had photos to show. In addition to this, one of the receptionists mispronounced my name and when I said it correctly, he acted like he didn't hear me or like it didn't matter. However, most of my experiences at Sasssoon are ok and one in particular is really positive. I always had positive interraction interaction with reception staff and colorists. The one stylist I had reallly enjoyed is Karen. She cut and styled my hair exactly as I showed - I brought photos - and then explained how to style on my own and what products to use, and it made perfect sense and I could maintain on my own for quite a while.

Went back again for Balayage today. This is my 2nd time getting it done and I’m soooo happy with the results again!!! I have really dark Asian hair and know that process takes patience and a couple tries, but Christine is a perfectionist and will make sure it looks amazing!!!! Its not orange or brassy. It took 6+ hrs but the Vidal team makes you feel taken care of. Thx Christine, Trisha, Eric and Claire!!!

The stylists are very skilled and talented. All the staff upstairs are amazing, very helpful, friendly and efficient. It is such a shame that I can´t say the same about the staff in the first floor - meaning the receptionists. Oh my God!! ... I understand Vidal Sassoon is a very distinguish brand, and the way stylists cut, style and color the hair, is very precise and artistic, but that does not mean that as a customer you have to put up with other members of the staff rudeness... Last time I checked, I PAYED for A SERVICE. It is very nice that the ladies upstairs offer you a drink, and help you feel comfortable with nice manners and their attention, but unfourtunately it does not make it up for the coarseness of the receptionists - in particular of this thick lady with dark shoulder-lenght hair, whose name I really wish I knew. Once again, if you are up for a very nice hair cut, by all means have a Vidal Sassoon stylist cut your hair, but just be prepared to deal with a rather unprofessional receptionist.

Plus, the salon is in a really convenient location, just a short walk from Bay station. You could easily come in for a blowout over a lunch break!

I have been a loyal customer of this salon for 16 years and my entire family has been going to the same stylist for that time! However I guess loyalty means nothing when it comes to this salon. I recently had a haircut booked with loraine and arrived 10 minutes late because of the construction going on outside the salon. I called in and let them know as I have never been late before and they said it would not be a problem and I should come in. Once I went in however it was a completely different story. They told me that Loraine no longer had time for me. The countless amount of times I had waited 30 minutes before I was even seated for my haircut just made this that much worst. I have since found a new hair salon and get much better service for the same price. Needless to say I will not set foot in this salon ever again!

I had Karen Vu cut my hair based on a recommendation. I don't cut my hair often because I have trust issues. I have one hairstylist in Ottawa and one in Toronto, but they have both been busy. I reluctantly made an appointment here and Karen did a great job. Her staff made me feel comfortable.

I had very long hair that had been dyed black for years via box & salon - and was recovering from a haircut i didnt love. They saved my long hair, and now I have amazing bolyage - light brown. The salon always feels good to spend time in - good coversation and sparkling water.

My experience was as a hair model for the Sassoon Academy. Models are asked to commit up to 3 hours, which I agreed to. After the allotted 3 hours, I needed to leave in order to make another appointment. I told this to the staff when I was at the salon, and they said that it would be fine, no problem. I also told this to the hair dresser cutting my hair, and she said the timing would be fine, as they had to break for lunch before the time I had to leave. However, they took 4 hours to complete my hair, and I was an hour late for my therapy appointment. I was very upset by this. The hairdresser in training hardly had time to eat or break, as the next session was already starting for 1:30pm. I could have walked out the door after 3 hours, with my hair partially cut and unfinished, but at the time, I felt like I had to stay to finish the cut - so that I wouldn't look like a complete mess and so that the hairdresser in training could complete her assignment and get a picture for her portfolio. For the lack of respect and professionalism, I do not intend to return to this studio.

if you are looking for an amazing stylist, ask for Nhi. shes brilliant, and she will work with what you want and what will look great on you. Christine is your girl if you want a top colourist. yeah, one of the receptionists is pure IDGAF. the other one is friendly, but not so helpful. they generally assume ppl know who and what they want. i recommend you just head upstairs and talk to your stylist directly. everyone up there is super attentive and friendly. note: if your a hair model for one of their classes, you can get a kick-ass haircut and/or colour fo free

I went there as a model which means a free hair cut. I actually just had my hair cut a month ago which i was ok but not like "wow!I love it". I went there just on time, receptions are very friendly, the teacher met all the models first and asked what kind of hair cut we expected one by one. Students were serious and respectful. The teacher was very professional, stylish, patient, knowledgeable and friendly. I could see all the other models were very pleased with their hair cut because of their smile on their face. Trust me, you can tell. I love it and I have already have lots of compliment from strangers and friends. I love it!

Truth Hurts

Vidal Sassoon had been considered one of the better salons in Yorkville. No longer. As a long time customer, I find the recent level of service sorely lacking. The atmosphere is stale like week old bread, and the stylists have been riding the Vidal Sassoon reputation for far too long. The salon staff has become complacent, the level of service is not what it should be, given the premium price. It seems obvious to me that a majority of the positive reviews are fake. They talk about having a pleasant atmosphere, but in reality it is disingenuous to the nth degree. There is a colorist, who on multiple occasions gossips about clients to other assistants, forgetting that there are other clients present. Right Kim. It would be prudent to remember that the reason a business exists is to provide the best possible service to it's clients; a lesson that Vidal Sassoon needs to be sorely reminded of. There are too many other salons in the Yorkville area that exceed this salon's fake standards.

Visited this place twice and each time Vidal Sasoon beat its own low level of service and quality! That, indeed, is a feat that would be hard to accomplish, specially by an establishment that is supposed to be world-class! VS offers no class; neither the ambiance nor the service quality are deserving of anyone's hard earned money. The excuses they come up with for two bad experiences and for messing up the third time, i.e. cancelling the appointment, are simply insulting. VS is merely a name that charges big bucks. That's it!

Tara usually colours my hair, but I have had many others fill in over the years and I have never had a bad experience. And the massage during the shampoo.... that alone is worth the trip. This was one of the worst hair salon experiences of my life. I saw Lorraine and was very clear that I had delayed getting a haircut because I wanted more length. She then gave me a super short cut, about one inch long, that was outdated and unflattering and looked like someone had taken garden shears to my head. The cut has been a struggle every day, which is pretty bizarre for a pixie cut. I don't recommend this place to anyone.

I never write reviews, but I just needed to in this case. Today I had an app't at this salon, turns out they changed locations, (although I had not been made aware of it). When I called the salon for directions to their new location, they put me on hold. I ended up being late for my appointment, and Karen refused to take me, I pleaded and begged for her to take me as the circumstances were out of my control, but obviously she didn't care. The real reason I'm writing is that I overheard her conversation with the receptionists, and they were completely bashing me, and getting pleasure out of it. So completely unprofessional, and sad actually, that these are the types of things that bring people joy. So ladies, next time you're put on hold at this salon, it's not because they're taking another call. This world would be a better place without people like this with superiority complexes. I’ve never written a bad review before but this haircut has compelled me to it. I went to the Academy but even for free this was still too steep a price to pay. I went in to take off significant length in order to donate to a children’s charity, and this haircut has completely ruined the experience for me. I am devastated. I was prepared for change and flexible to whatever it is they were doing, but was very clear with both the stylist and educator that I did not want to lose too much hair in the back, I did not want graduated layers, and I did not want more than a one-inch difference between the longest and shortest lengths considering the shortness of the cut. I understand that they are refining their skills and it won’t be perfect but this is beyond a normal range. My hair has been hacked into a mess, there are just chunks missing. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. I was okay with not getting exactly what I expected but this is situation is way too extreme. They completely violated my stated boundaries and I couldn’t see what was happening until it was too late. I am just so upset because this has made me regret my decision to donate in the first place, and now I never will again. I can’t see any way of correcting this without chopping off the rest of my hair. I just wanted to do a good deed. I now look ridiculous. Save your time and your hair, and just spend the money elsewhere. If you’re considering Sassoon, even for free, reconsider.

Ive been going there almost exclusively for a bit over 5 years. Ive had some stylists give hohum cuts. Once i went really short on a stylists recommendation from very long hair, and the cut was amazing but didnt suit me at all. Those were the times when i wasnt able to see Yasso, my regular stylist. I have long, straight and thick hair and any mistake will show. She never fails to deliver. I use to travel from richmond hill and now from ajax. I only get a cut once every 3-4 months to keep split ends at bay so i dont mind the trip? And its well worth it. I would recommend her to everyone! She cuts with precision and technique, always timely, always friendly and accommodating. Because my hair is long and thick, i have to book a double appointment, but even that is less than an hour for her.

The best hair salon I ever been in my life ,first Dasha welcome me and took my coat,she was guiding me where to go,they have 3 floors,Kamila was doing my baleyage ,she is very experienced, she put a lot of effort so I could get result I wanted. Fritz has been cutting my hair for over 20 years. I would never consider going elsewhere. He has great technique (it's a Vidal thing) and is so directional in how he cuts hair. It's beginning to thin a bit (okay more than a bit), and Fritz somehow manages to make the thinning feel like it's no longer there. I highly recommend Fritz without a moment's hesitation. I always feel like a million bucks when I leave the salon. Thanks for all the great cuts Fritz!
