I consider NYNY Salon to be a part a special part of life! They make me feel VIP on every single visit and they would never let me leave unless I was 100% satisfied--which is always!!! Here a just a few things that I love: the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, the absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous new location, the quality of service by my amazing stylist Emily, the fact that they bring me delicious coffee just how I like it, their wonderful products, and quite simply, that they let me be "me"! I often like to have my hair styled differently after my color is done and they always do whatever I ask! Curly, straight, braids--whatever I like! I could never say enough great things about all the people who work there. They work so hard to provide a great experience for their clients. It's so evident on every visit and that's why I love to send as many people to the salon as I can--because I want everyone to have such a special "happy" place to visit each month to be pampered! Stephanie is knowledgeable, skilled, kind and personable. She knows what she's doing and you are in good hands with her. I went into the salon feeling like my hair was beyond repair and I left happy and loving the way my hair looked and felt. Thank you Stephanie!

I needed a new salon and went here because the reviews were so good. I got a young guy (who will remain nameless) who was super nice. He was very pleasant but seemed apprehensive to cut the volume of my hair. He bragged about how he was trained by Nick Arrojo's (What Not to Wear) assistant. I was already nervous because I had really long, thick hair and I was ready to take the plunge and chop it off. He cut off 11" and I was left with shoulder length hair. In the chair I thought he "face framed" way too much but he was the expert and I was nervous customer so I said nothing. When I got home I noticed there were literally chunks of hair significantly longer than the rest and the back of my head was a good 2" longer than the front. I love face framing and have always opted for it. But this kid took it to a whole notha' level. The whole front HALF of my head was "face framed". I had to get scissors and literally chop the chunks of hair in the back that were so much longer than the rest. I paid $75 for a haircut (which I did gladly expecting a great haircut) and was mortified. I called and complained and they said not only would I be stuck with the same hair stylist if I returned because they want them to 'learn from their mistakes' but I'd have to pay for it again, too! I have never been more disappointed in a haircut or customer service. Worst Haircut Ever. I'm still so disappointed 2 months later.

See Sherri if you've got short hair and want style! She's very skilled and listens well; if she does anything you don't quite like she wants you to speak up, no offense taken. Very friendly staff, with a rare exception. They obviously want you to be comfortable and enjoy your experience. My only criticism is that a simple cut on a Saturday can take an hour and a half with the double-booking...but it's a popular place for a reason!

I went to NY NY Hair Salon on the recommendation of a friend of mine who religiously uses Emily. I've been to see Emily twice and was happy both times. Recently she did an exceptional job on giving me the best cut I wanted and also fixing my color so that my highlights are much more flattering. They are a bit pricy but so is everyone else in the metro DC area. I value knowing that at least I'll get a stellar product for the price.

This place is the BEST I have ever been to in my 57 years of Life. Elise was very professional and my hair looks and feels Great. She more than met my expectations. Don't bother going to a cookie cutter salon chain but instead come to the New York New York Hair Salon and Day Spa. . I Loved The Total Spa Experience, I had one stylist dedicated to me, The waiting area with the gorgeous fireplace is luxurious, and when your hair is being rinsed there are neck supports and ottomans for added comfort. This is a plus for those of us with arthritis. The staff is so attentive bringing refreshments and The product is priced right in line with Ulta so why go anywhere else? I think that hardworking women deserve the best and this is it. As The song goes "I want to be a part of it New York New York" Be a part of it and be transformed:)

Went in there for a shellac manicure about two days ago and they turned out great! The person who did my nails was wonderful and did an amazing job. What I wasn't impressed with was the price...It was $60 for a typical shellac manicure, nothing extra put on...just paint. All in all with tip, I paid $70. I may be ignorant to these prices, but I have been to other nicer salons and have never paid that much. I think I will be going to a cheaper salon next time that produces the same quality.

Everything was very nice here. I was greeted promptly, and just about everyone there says hello to you. Checking in was easy and I was immediately taken up for my body treatment. The salt scrub experience was very relaxing and my skin felt so amazing afterward. I enjoyed it very much. Next was my pedicure. My technician was Katie, whom I briefly spoke to prior to my body treatment. She was very sweet and went out of her way to make sure my comfort was a priority. She was very nice and we had a great conversation! My legs were a little short for the pedicure chairs, so I kinda wish they were adjustable and a little more comfortable. Next was my Manicure with Katie. My toenail color did not have a matching Shellac color, but thanks to Katie, she was able to create one for me that looked very similar (very cool). Once again, very good conversation and I learned a lot about nail products thanks to her guidance. I had a hair color appt. directly after my manicure, but Elise very conveniently started coloring my hair as my nails were being done, so I could get home at a decent time! How cool is that?! I am very happy with my experience and I can't wait to go back in the future.

This was THE BEST salon experience I have ever had! From the second I walked in, I was warmly greeted by everyone behind the counter. While I waited, I was offered beverages and a cozy spot to sit. My stylist, Douglas, was phenomenal! He provided excellent and honest feedback when discussing the look and style I was trying to achieve. There was no pressure to do or purchase anything I was not on board with. The cut came out much better than I anticipated and I ended up referring my husband to Douglas as he is also a barber. As I was leaving, the owner came up, introduced herself, shook my hand and thanked me for coming in. That may not mean anything to some, but it says a lot about why her salon has thrived. It goes without saying that I will be a repeat customer.

During this crazy time of COVID, I was really nervous about getting my hair done. The salon has done masterful job of managing the risk. The salon is huge, and they are keeping capacity low, so you don’t ever feel like you are putting yourself in jeopardy. The washing station was particularly impressive, with partitions between each station, as well as spacing. Emily, the best stylist I have ever had, told me that the team came together to work out improvements months in advance. I feel very confident going back, not only for an awesome color and cut, but also for a safe experience. Oh, I forgot to mention that there is a very pleasant porch to sit on for processing time, if you don’t feel comfortable staying inside for a couple of hours.

She never makes me feel like I am a bother; she takes time to help me find “the perfect haircut” and then when I am tired of that one; she helps me find the “next perfect haircut”. Let’s not forget about the color aspect of my needs. Sheri is always looking for something to make me feel like a superstar; if I show her something I like and she knows it’s a bad choice; or potentially damaging to my hair choice, she’s very good about explaining the “how’s and why’s” of each process so I am an informed client. I can’t imagine not having Sheri and NYNY in my life. It would be a less beautiful world.

I love my new cut. Doug was careful to listen to me and really hear my "hair concerns" --- notably, that I don't style my hair, unless you count an occasional hair clip to get it out of the way. So Doug gave me a style that doesn't require styling! Prices are reasonable (especially since I'm driving up to Frederick from a D.C. suburb) and they're posted on the site so no surprises. I also enjoyed the stories told in their videos. I'm definitely going back.

I can't say enough great things about NY NY Salon. After getting a cut and color from Doug, I learned about the spa services. I just had my first ever deep tissue massage, and I've already scheduled to come back for another. I can't say much about technique, but I do know that after an hour with Lindsey, I feel wonderful! I started coming here over a year ago and I have never been disappointed. My stylist is Molly Childs and she’s incredible! I can show her a sample cut and color I like and she always replicates it perfectly! The salon is very chic, clean and the staff is warm, friendly and accommodating! They always offer tea coffee or water moments after you walk in the door and on weekends, they even have platters of bagels, donuts, etc. It is definitely a higher end salon so the prices reflect that, but it’s worth every penny and I highly recommend if you’re looking for a new salon!

I continue to be exceedingly satisfied with the services I receive at NYNY--I have been a regular at this salon for 15+ years... While the old salon was certainly comfortable, the "new" location on North Market Street is simply fabulous! The historic building is beautifully retrofitted---the bubble gum pink powder room hidden under the stairway on the first floor, [which is a tight fit for sure but it just feels nostalgic,] and the lilac tiled bathroom on the second floor are my favorites! All of the service stations are cozy and comfortable, and the staff always goes out of their way to make me feel welcomed and pampered! My stylist has my color and curls looking better than ever, and my skin care specialist makes sure that my brows are arched to perfection!! I'm very happy with my relationship with NYNY--I highly recommend this salon!

This is a beautiful salon with wonderful parking and very welcoming. I felt so appreciated coming in. The owner even thanked me for coming in and shook my hand. That meant so much to me. Amanda did an amazing job on my hair and I loved the color. The customer service was the best! I have gone to other salons over the years in Rockville, Bethesda, Frederick and Damascus and I found New York New York prices wonderful and very comparable to what I've paid in other places. Megan was my massage therapist and also did my facial. She was extremely professional and excellent. I spent a weekend at the Hershey Spa and this was the same caliber of excellence. If there was a prize for least welcoming,,this place would have won it by a long shot. Not sure why everyone looked so grumpy, not a SINGLE SMILE. I felt incredibly uncomfortable during my Mani-Pedi. I didn't exactly get a warm welcome, nor did my varnish last long. Not worth the time or money I WASTED here. Seems to be a bit more about being flashy than giving clients a great experience, & service. My manicurist used a sawing motion to file my nails which ended up peeling, and breaking less than three days later.

The receptionists listened to my concerns, and told me Ryan would be a great fit for what I was looking for. She marched me perfectly. I can not even begin to explain how kind, considerate, and thoughtful he is. He is so unique in such an amazing way and puts his entire heart into his work. I’ve always gone to previous stylists and felt unhappy or left with undesired results that I hated immediately. I’ve been with Ryan for at least 4-5 appointments and I always leave happier than ever. We have gone through so many different colors and techniques together and he always cares about the quality of his work while ensuring customer happiness. Fabulous salon! I've never had my hair complimented more since I've been a customer there. My hairstylist Molly Childs is amazing! Not only does she do a great color, but I get compliments on my hair even when it's due for a trim! Molly also did an amazing color correction on my daughter's hair. Daughter bleached her hair and had oranges, reds, yellows and her natural brunette color in splotches! Molly was able to transform it to a a brunette with chestnut highlights. She listens to what you want, gives excellent advice, and is a joy to talk to! Everyone at the salon is fantastic.

I've been going to New York New York for about 6 years and have faithfully relied upon Emily for all of my hair care services. She is a master at hair color and has never let me down! The salon is always bustling, a clear indication of the outstanding services they perform. There also seems to be very little turnover in the stylists which is another indication that this is a high quality salon. Since moving to Frederick in 2001, I have salon-hopped through many of the "higher-end" salons but after finally landing at New York New York I don't think I will ever stray! The parking situation can be tough on busy days as the lot is small, but there is street parking if you don't mind parallel parking. The receptionist staff is attentive and will go out of there way to make sure your salon experience is top notch.

Molly is the only person who has been able to get my stubborn hair to look exactly how I want it! As a musician, my hair is very important to me. She knows just how to make me look like a rockstar on stage. If you're looking for fun color she is the girl for the job. I came to her recently with the challenge of transforming me into a blonde (not easy with my mane). Molly was honest and was very up front about what the process would require. She is very concerned about hair health. She'll take precautions to use healthy treatment methods, and will make sure you are aware of proper maintenance to avoid damage. I have to say I have mixed feelings about this salon. I use to love it, people were friendly and treated me like family. I happily took full advantage of all of their services. My hair stylist left and l loved the salon so much I stayed. In the year that followed things got increasing worse. First a straighter was put on my hair that not only took all the body out of it, but caused it to fall out as well. One good hair cuts, then several marginal hair cuts and finally a terrible cut with noticeable holes all while I'm being told my hair is the color of dishwater. Then my eyebrows were done by one of the stylists and half the wax was left on them. I still think that Sharon gives the best manicure and pedicures in town and Muriel is wonderful with skincare and doing eyebrows (she was not available that day). I would go back for them, but I just got tired of walk out looking worse than I walked in when I got my hair done.

I am from out of state and felt it was time to have my hair done professionally & treat myself to some self care. I had an absolutely wonderful experience at NY NY Hair Salon & Day Spa. I started my day at the spa with a facial & a massage. They were both my first time having anything like that done. I was beyond impressed by my treatment for both of these services and did not expect how much went into them and the value for what I paid for both services. I cannot say enough good about the building & staff. It is immaculately well kept and the interior is absolutely beautiful. You feel very safe and at ease here and everyone goes above and beyond to make sure you’re well taken care of. This was a concern of mine being that we’ve been in this pandemic for a year now. I was completely confident in the staff the entire time and am impressed with the care and attention they put into cleanliness and keeping the facility safe for patrons. I saw Maryam for my facial and I cannot stress the level of comfort and care she gave me during my service. I have never felt so relaxed and pampered and her level of professionalism sets a high standard for me going forward. She gave me much needed pampering and skincare advice which was really appreciated, as my skin is my biggest insecurity. If you’re looking for a seriously in depth skincare treatment I highly recommend her services. As for my massage, I saw Annelise. She made me feel extremely at ease during our session despite my anxiety going into the massage, as I’ve heard they can be quite painful if too much pressure is used. Annelise was just as thorough with Maryam which was a delight for me in terms of the treatment itself being so nice and getting to know me as a client to ensure the experiences were just right for me. Annelise was extremely kind to me and easy to talk to. I felt very seen and heard. As well as extremely relaxed. My great experience didn’t stop there, as I received highlighting/low lighting on my hair by Lacey. I am absolutely thrilled about how my hair came out. She is exceptionally thorough and her communication skills as a stylist which is excellent because it’s important to have your hair done by someone you trust. Lacey did a wonderful job making my color look natural and made sure it would fit my face and skin tone. She was a joy to chat with and gave me a lot of great recommendations for the area as well! Overall I was extremely nervous going into NY NY, as this is my first time doing anything out in public since COVID started, as well as having had some really upsetting experiences with different salons in the past. I am so pleased with how everything turned out and how the integrity of my hair was not only kept but my hair is in much better condition after the coloring. My complexion has also improved from my facial substantially which is wild as someone who struggles with hormonal cystic acne and went in with a pretty bad breakout. My body is also extremely relaxed and calmed after my massage which was just wonderful and all of this was just so needed. If you’re looking for any type of beauty services in the area I would without a doubt recommend NY NY Hair Salon & Day Spa to you! My stylist was Sheri. After months of going to her for haircuts, I decided it was time to take it to the next level and try some color. My hair was originally a mix of a 2-3. She was able to lift it in one session after multiple bleachings. I was originally wanted almost an ombré grey/silver, but she said that may be a little easier said than done, so I switched to a little more obtainable goal. This was the start of a series of unfortunate events. I wanted my roots dark just like in the decided overall concept. For some reason, she dyed my roots about a 5-6. My roots against the blonde looked like brass. I expressed my dissatisfaction as soon as I seen it. The lighting is terrible in her area, so she told me to check it at home and let her know. When I got home, I checked it out and it indeed looked extremely brassy. I contacted her and she got me in the next day to fix it free of charge. When she put the level 2 color on the roots, there was still about 1/2 to an inch of brown left. Kinda like a melted effect. I despised it, but I let it be for the time being. Fast forward a couple of months to 12/12. I had a biopsy scheduled for 12/14 and I really needed something to boost my spirits and take my mind off things, so I set an appt for that day (12/12.) When we last left off from the first appt, she told me next time, we would use a Pravana silver to be rid of the blonde. I kept asking her multiple times to ensure the light brown was going to be completely gone during this appt and she said it would be. She took it upon herself to do a complete different method and it was a complete BUST! She balayaged my hair. My end results colors walking out was a Roots - 2 Under roots - 5-6 Hair 10! My hair looked HORRIBLE! The colors didn’t blend, she didn’t use the Pravana silver, she used toner? And most importantly, THE BROWN WAS STILL THERE! She knew I was upset. I honestly couldn’t of been more upset. I went home and cried. I just wanted to do something for myself before a traumatic ordeal just to face another disappointment right before it. After my appt, once again, we scheduled an appt to come back the next day to fix the damage. I wasn’t charged as things needed to be redone. The receptionist before close up asked me for a card to put on file and I would be called before any charges were made. Before leaving as she’s blowing my hair out, I noticed I had MULTIPLE brown patches all through out my silver/grey hair. “When you come back, we can fix it.” I got an alert of a charge for $375 on 12/15. I contacted Sheri via text to find out; 1. Why am I being charged so much. 2. Why NO ONE called me before unauthorizing a charge to my card. She didn’t know I wasn’t not called prior. Then she went to say she charges by product, not hour and she’s one of the only stylist to do that to cut people a price break and blahblah. First, she passed the blame to Kris who I believe is the GM? Saying he must of calculated the 2 days of product use and added time into the price. Then she says SHE was “relating prices just based on timing.” So after telling me you don’t charged based on time, you’re admitting that you overcharged me? And you also included a charge for the balayage even tho it’s not what we discussed and it WASN’T what I wanted!? She said she would contact Kris to explain the situation. She asked what I wanted to be done. I told her “You can speak to Kris to see what he feels should be done.” This was Sat 12/15. Wednesday rolls around (12/19,) Still NO response. I messaged her a 9am to see what the verdict was as it had been 5 days since the incident and no one has reached out. Today, (12/24,) my message has STILL gone unanswered/unresolved. They’ve already lost one customer (my husband) a couple weeks prior to this incident. Now, they’ve also lost me too.

My best friend and I planned a spa day here, we looked forward to it for weeks. Unfortunately, she had an accident the morning we were scheduled and she ended up in the hospital. When I called to let them know, I was informed that because she was "supposedly" in the hospital, she would need to provide proof that she was in the hospital in two days or she would be charged $100 for cancelling, I was also told that if I didn't come, she would be charged for me as well. I understand the employees work on commission and cancellation is annoying, but this situation was out of our control. We tried to reschedule but that was not an option. The management in this situation had a choice, they could provide great customer service and allow us to reschedule and make at least $400 plus repeat business and a positive review. Instead, they chose to provide horrible customer service, make more stress for my friend who sustained a head injury, and lose two customers and everyone else they have the chance to tell not to patronize this business. So disappointed!

This was my first visit to New York New York and I was very pleased with the quality and care that I received. I made my appointment with Nayreka, one of the junior stylists. She did a fantastic job walking me through the coloring process. The way that my highlights hit the light is beautiful! She was very thorough when cutting my hair. I appreciated that when she didn’t quite know how to achieve the shorter layers from my reference photo she asked for help from a senior stylist. She was friendly and personable the whole time. I’m excited to see her practice develop with this salon and visit again!

I had been trying to find a stylist that knows how to cut hair very well since my hair is straight & not with much body. I have a friend that recommended Jamie since she does women’s short cuts. I made an appointment with her but when I got there, she called in sick. However, they said that Ryan could take me. I explained to Ryan that I wanted to go ultra short & had picture in hand but wanted to remain feminine. I was so ready for this new change. Ryan was attentive and listened to my request and he did not disappoint! I was very pleased. He did a precise cut with shears & clippers. And I found out that he had Vidal Sassoon training which was a great plus. I had been looking for someone with that type of training. I am very happy with my style and cut. Thank you Ryan! The atmosphere of the salon is warm and inviting and the staff was professional & great!

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I came in for an appointment with Stephanie to do balayage and a cut. When I got home it didn't seem like my hair was any different than before. I called the salon the next day to schedule a redo. I wasn't able to make it to that appt so I called them to change to a different day. They then informed me that they will not be redoing my hair at all and not giving me any sort of refund. I spoke with the owner several times and she was not willing to work with helping me resolve the issue at all. Poor customer service, poor hair service, and overpriced. Do not go here!

They thoroughly massage your scalp while cleaning your hair. My husband bought me a gift card for a spa package here and it is an absolutely amazing atmosphere. I received a core facial which was a 5 star experience in itself. The deep tissue massage was so relaxing and better than any massage I’ve ever had. Trena is very knowledgeable and has magic hands! Then to finish up I got a mani/pedi and it was the most relaxing and comfortable mani/pedi I have ever had. The location is so cool and all of the staff is very professional and friendly. My stylist is Sheri Enderle. She is a great stylist and colorist. She is thorough, thoughtful and conscientious. I have hard to color gray hair. She achieves great color depth and coverage, adds warm highlights every two three visits, glazes and conditions at various times to make sure my chemically treated hair looks smooth and healthy and, of course, cuts and styles. My hair looks about the same color it did before I turned gray. The salon building is beautiful indoors and out. They have a comfortable waiting area and all of the staff are extremely gracious and friendly.

I really like this place. Lots of parking, beautiful building, great customer service. My only complaint is the price. 72 dollars for a haircut was over the top and you don't really know the price up front. I lived in McLean, VA for a long time where salons are very expensive and they weren't that pricey. For the services I would go again because they are good, but I would choose another location over this one first because there are plenty of salons in the area that do just as good of a job for way less.

My visit started with a 60 minute massage. I unfortunately started out in FULL HOT FLASH MODE. Starting off I ask for the massage table heat to be turned off. Not only did she sympathize, she also anticipated the need for the ac to be turned up in the room. (AMAZING) This was my first professional massage (not preformed by family) and I was thoroughly impressed. The environment was very relaxing (I am not easily relaxed). The very professional technician was thorough with health questions and putting me at ease. My mind, body and soul were at ease by the end of my hour. Next was my hair cut. I didn’t have anything in mind, it had been over a year since having anything professional done to my hair. The girl that washed my hair massaged my head like she loved me. Not even joking. One of the best regular haircuts I’ve ever had. Will definitely be coming back for color and more in the future.

I am new to the Frederick area, and chose New York New York Salon based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews. The experience I had was quite dissatisfying. I received full highlights from their salon's self-proclaimed "expert" with blond hair. I received services on a Saturday during the holiday season, and the salon was understandably busy. The one-on-one with the hair stylist was underwhelming - not too chatty and came off kind of rudely, but, she seemed to know what she was talking about when it came to my hair. As I sat under the dryer (while she took another client) I was a little apprehensive that I was sitting too long. I am a natural 'dirty blond' and in the 10 years of getting my hair highlighted, it typically does not take more than 20 minutes to process. I sat for over a half an hour, and was finally taken back to get my hair washed which, by the way, was a 45 minute process for whatever reason. I received an Olaplex treatment, so maybe that was why...but it seemed to drag a bit, I'm sure due to the fact that the hair stylist was taking another client during my appointment time, which I thought was poor customer service. The color came out just OK, not great. It was a little ashy for me, and I had honestly just wanted to maintain what I already had going on, only to find out that the tone had completely changed...something an "expert" on blond hair should not have a difficult time with. After the cut and dry, I walked over to the products with the hair stylist to discuss a shampoo and conditioner, and went with her recommendations. Total came to $300 - full highlight, cut, blow dry, and product - something I have been willing to pay in the past, but with the results so far, I was a little wary handing over my card to the receptionist. Anyway, I left after booking a follow-up, considering maybe such a reputable salon should maybe deserve a second chance. It is about time for my 6 week follow up, and I am 100% cancelling that appointment and probably will not set foot in this salon again. My hair is fried, I can barely brush it - and the products are not doing their job either, possibly due to the fact that my hair is now damaged. For the price I paid, and the reviews that are out there, I do not feel that this salon held up the expectations I had. In fact, I think it's quite unacceptable that my hair is now damaged and I'll have to seek treatment at another salon to fix it. I'm quite disappointed as I had high hopes, and thought I found "the one," but I will be seeking hair services elsewhere. Bummer...

In this beautifully renovated 1800s federalist home, there are different areas for the salon, men's barber shop, hair washing, manicure & pedicure areas, and a full massage area. It also has a dedicated area for bridal parties. However, it's the atmosphere of warmth that is most appealing to me. They appreciate your business. The cost is reasonable for the service you require. I feel good every time I leave there.

Went there for the first time. The facility was nice. Hair cut was awesome and staff friendly. If it was just about the cut and staff this place would get 5 stars. My MAJOR problem with this place was the new customer card they want you to fill out. They ask for your name, address, gender, marriage status, birthday, email, phone numbers, profession, and drivers license number. Why would a hair salon need your DRIVERS LICENSE NUMBER? That put up more than a few red flags for me, especially since it would be accompanied by all that other personal identifying information, like marriage status, address, and birthday. And then if you pay by credit card they now have your CC number and ALL that personal information too. Your doctor's office doesn't even ask for all that information, and at least you're protected there by HIPPA laws that keep them from distributing that information. It just seems kind of shady. Drivers license number for a haircut? No way.

I recently went to this salon for the first time. Although my scheduled hairdresser could not make the appointment, they were very quick to find me another hairdresser and appointment the same day. I ended up having Lexy cut my hair and she, and the salon as a whole, were wonderful. Everyone, including Lexy and the owner who introduced herself, were welcoming and kind. Each and every time I get a perfect cut from Mary Louise; in the past before I went to NYNY a hair cut was always hit or miss and I though " oh well my hair will grow out." In addition to my high opinion of the salon and Sheri, a compliment from another stylist in another state is even better than my review, I believe. New York, New York is a great Salon. I have been going to this salon for 20+ years for nails, hair, massage, and other services. They have a great staff. My most recent experience was for Color, Foil Highlights, and a Cut. Shari is an expert in color using highlights and lowlights and she makes my hair look fantastic. Those at the front desk are extremely helpful and friendly. The other staff who assist with shampoos and color are also terrific and incredibly friendly and personable. I would recommend this salon to anyone.

I got a Signature Spa manicure and pedicure on a Friday before a weekend trip. By Sunday, the top coat began to discolor and 5 of my nails had already chipped (photo 1). After a week, ever nail was chipped and the top coat was peeling off (photos 2, 3 and 4). Although the technician was very good, I wasn't pleased with the shaping and did not receive a "relaxing 10 minute hand massage". For $45, I would expect the polish to last more then 2 days especially since I didn't do anything extreme (like cleaning, scrubbing, etc)

I am new to the area and was looking for a professional salon. I had been going to my salon for many many years so the prospect of finding a new one was a bit scary. I found NYNY and my first appointment with Mary Louise calmed my fears. She spent time with me understanding what I liked and didn’t and then gave me the best hair cut I’ve ever had. I used to use a curling iron daily and now never have to use one because the cut holds the shape all day. I never feel rushed and the nice cup of tea to relax before the appointment is a nice touch.

My stylist was Ryan and I think he's great; would definitely recommend him to anyone. I had my hair colored for the first time so was a little nervous. I didn't need to be. Ryan obviously knows what he's doing so I felt much at ease. After a very long process (all described to me as he did each one) Ryan cut and styled my hair. I am totally thrilled with my hair- all of it -- the color, the cut, and the style. Truly a miracle that Ryan could take what was in my mind and make it a reality. And I have to say just a couple of words about the salon. New York New York is a lovely, well-run salon that has seemingly taken to heart the need for mask wearing and sanitizing. They have a check in system that really works and everyone is wearing masks properly and requires that all customers wear them as well. I wholeheartedly recommend the salon and the terrific Ryan.

Salon is neat and clean and looks high end and nice but the stylist who cut my hair did not seem to know the style i was looking for even after showing the picture and telling him to correct it multiple times. I never saw anyone wash the hair, blow dry it and then cut it. I did not get the cut i wanted and i just let it go and left since i did not want him to ruin it further. Waste of my time and money. I would think that for the price you are paying the stylist would be experienced and good. Very disappointing.

I'm not sure if she was uncomfortable with making conversation with a 16 year old. Her hair came out OK. She just had it cut and I feel the price of the cut did not match the results. But considering she gets her hair cut twice a year I didn't mind spending the money on her. I, on the other hand, was a little shocked at the price of my cut and color. We walked out of their paying over $300. Typically I pay no more than $100 at a home salon and equally loved my results. But the experience was awesome, the place was wonderful. The coffee was the icing on top for my daugher and I. We sat and drank coffee while my hair processed.

I used to come here regularly for haircuts. I stopped because the prices here are high and the quality was not great. I came back recently because they offer a keratin treatment I wanted to try. I came in for a consultation and waited 40 minutes past my appointment time for the stylist to tell me they are between treatments and cannot perform this right now. She was not even polite or apologetic about the time that was wasted.

I have been living in The Frederick area for almost two years now and I have been to this salon twice. Prior to living in Frederick I have lived only in large metropolitan cities around the world so I have never had trouble finding a hair salon (NYC being one of the cities). The reason I am giving them two stars is the price for a haircut and color is ridiculous. This salon is charging Beverly hill prices and we are not living there lol. So I will never go back to them. The hair cut was nothing special to begin with. Seriously the place is an old funeral home that was newly renovated and it looks nice but the waiting area was uncomfortable and they don't really tend to your needs for the prices that they charge.

I received a gift certificate and decided to get a pedicure. The experience was nice but certainly not worth what I paid for it. A few of my toes became red and irritated afterward and I had to treat them to avoid infection. The polish also chipped within 4 days. I would not recommend.

I have been going to NYNY for 12yrs. Emily is amazing! She knows my hair: what it can do and what it can't do!! The color and cut is wonderful. Emily never rushes me in or out, always taking as much time as needed and has on occasion worked me in if I'm having a hair emergency! I was so happy with her I even talked my husband into going to her! Talk about two very different hair types, but Emily was up to the challenge. He hasnt gotten hair done anywhere else since his first visit. We also go frequently for massages with Megan and Lindsey. They both are wonderful!!! After a long day at work, when I show up, they give you the warmest greeting as if you are an important person, and do everything to make you comfortable and relaxed. I got my hair cut and styled recently and the whole experience was terrible. The shampoo girl barely massaged my hair and she didn't even wash out the conditioner from my hair correctly. When I went to checkout, I was pressured into leaving a tip for the shampoo girl. My hair was greasy and flat the very next day. Then the stylist took off more length from my hair even though I asked not to. Not happy AT ALL. Totally NOT worth the money!

I recently had a haircut with Stephanie and a facial with Maryam at NYNY. This was my first time getting a facial at NYNY because of past bad experiences. My skin is sensitive and I am allergic to many products. Maryam gave me a wonderful and very relaxing facial and my skin felt so soft and smooth. We talked and she explained to me a lot I didn't know about "my" skin and suggested some things I should be doing. I will be seeing her again in a few weeks and intend to schedule a facial each time I schedule a cut. My stylist, Stephanie is fabulous! I love that she is someone who actually cuts just a small amount off when I ask for it. I am trying to grow my hair and thanks to her it is longer than it has been in quite some time. Stephanie listens, guides and talks me out of crazy colors and for all that I am thankful! The entire staff at NYNY is just the best. It is a very welcoming place and on top of that they make an excellent cup of coffee. If you ever go to NYNY you'll never go back!!!
