This salon has slowly become my staple. Every stylist is professional, skilled and most importantly, kind. There is such a good vibe and air. It’s always clean, it is always on time (in fact I often find them ahead of time and willing to fit you in early). I personally have a chronic illness, and the owner, Barbra, is extremely accommodating and willing to work with me for longer processing times. They blow my hair out every 2-3 weeks to help me - and they always follow exactly (I love it curly so it falls over time) what I need and it lasts 7-10 days. They never rush and are always positive. I was spending a crazy amount at a Manhattan salon, and couldn’t afford to keep up with my hair. I thought if I wanted the quality and skill I was getting I had to lay out $100s. But that isn’t true - I would honestly say it’s even better here. It feels like a neighborhood salon with the relaxing and comfortable environment, but with the skill of any major salon in Manhattan. I have a bright hairstyle (pink), and the product has lasted months - at the top Manhattan salons I was using, the color would fade with the first wash that wasn’t maintainable. And my hair feels softer and stronger than ever before. The haircut I received in a recent visit was exactly what we discussed and beautiful. I highly suggest this salon and I really do not think you will be disappointed.

I asked for my grey hairs to be covered, I just have a few. So we went for roots touching. She asked me if I dyed my hair I said no, but I have the feeling that she didn't believe so instead of applying the color that you can see in my roots, she went for the one in my tips that is lighter due to thin hair and sun exposure. I don't know why she didn't ask me first if I prefer it darker or lighter, because I would have said darker. My hair is dark brow now I have a medium brown with orange brassy shine and it looks so fake and ugly, I jumped into the shower immediately expecting to make it darker. When I was washing it I noticed how dry it became When she blown my hair, I asked not to be straight, I said I like my curly hair, instead she made it straight and tips curly, I hate it, it is not my. Not coming again. Such a waste of time and money. I just don't know how can I fix this ugly disaster

I would highly recommend this salon! I was greeted by the lovely assistant Melanie, who made me feel so welcome, and relaxed and pampered when she gave me the best head massage I've ever had. I had my hair cut and highlighted by Una, who was so professional and gave me the most perfect, natural looking highlights which is so rare to find! I'm so happy with the results and I will definitely be returning!

I go to Barbara to help me graciously go gray and make it appear trendy. She does amazing highlights and made my natural brown and gray hair flow with platinum highlights. I def recommend. They also take the covid safety precautions.

They don't know how to cut curly hair. My bob looks like a Sideshow Bob wig because no layering was done. The cut literally took 30 minutes and it looks like it. I'm going to have to go somewhere else to get it fixed.

I've been to this salon a few times now and I'm happy with my experience each time. It's clean and beautifully decorated. I was offered a drink each time which was a nice plus. I always get an appointment when I'm available after work. I never wait long for my appointments. My stylist, Leana, always gives me the color and cut I come in looking for. I highly recommend her if you're looking for someone who is attentive and honest.

I needed to find a new salon to get my hair cut as my hairdresser stopped cutting hair altogether. I read the great reviews and decided to book an appointment with Barbara, the owner. I was able to book online, which I really liked. The COVID-19 guidance for the salon was very clear, which I appreciated. I was very nervous as it was my first haircut in over seven months and my hair was super shaggy. Honestly, I didn't even feel like myself. My overall experience was great! I brought a picture of the cut that I wanted, a pixie cut, and Barbara did an amazing job! I love the cut and walked out feeling really confident again. Everyone in the salon was very nice and I will definitely be going back.

This was my first time getting my hair cut and highlighted at Melo Yelo. All of the ladies there are top notch! Beautiful work and professional. Just check out their Instagram to see their work yourself. Not to mention, during this unprecedented time with Covid-19, the Salon is very clean. Ashley was working hard and cleaning behind every person, making sure that every surface touched was wiped down well. I will definitely be going back to Melo Yelp in Sunnyside, Queens. Lack of friendly environment. Feels forced and fake. Hair job was not bad, but definitely not what was on the picture or close what I wanted. Go to Jonathan @ bumble and bumble E56st. That’s what I get for trying somewhere new.

I went few times in this hair salon and I am always disappointed. The owner is always late 35-40 minutes and can't keep up with the appointments scheduled. Disorganized and unprofessional. The place is also dirty: they don't clean the floor after hair cuts. This place makes me feel always unwelcome.

Absolutely love coming to Melo Yelo for my cut and color. Una has been my hair stylist since my first visit last year and I cannot recommend her enough. I always feel a million dollars when I leave. Living in Sunnyside for about a year now and was looking for a local place to get my hair cut. Saw Melo Yelo while walking around and decided to make an appointment. The place looks great, the Covid protocols are on point and the service is awesome. I've only used Una and she's been giving me the best haircuts I've ever had -- and I used to go to Bumble and Bumble back in the day. Definitely check the place out, support your local businesses!

I paid $60 for the worst haircut in NYC. I'm not sure if they just don't want me to come back, or they have no idea how to layer long straight hair. I literally have two layers at the back of my hair! Will never go back there again.
