Went for a shellac manicure and regular pedicure .Loved the manicure. The lady was extremely skillful with her work. However the pedicure was rushed and they did not let it dry enough. That resulted in a very messy and ugly finish when i got home and took off my shoes .

I had my nails done yesterday by Yuri. She did a great job on the design but noticed that she gently 'wiped' the surfece of two of my nails with acetone at the end. I don't know why she did it but sure enough, one of them started chipping on the way home.... For the price I paid ($75), I wished it lasted for at least one day.

Yukii is the best! love him and his cutting always so elegant, simple, clean and pretty. I always felt very Secure to put my hair in his hand. And he is the Only person that cuts my hair for the past 8 years, his is a very nice person, never changed in the past 8 years, still very good looking, talks funny. Do not push me to do any service that not necessary. I felt spending 1 hour to chat with him and cut my hair is so relaxing mentally and feeling so good afterwards. I am happy for Balance reopen after the pandemic! Cause finding “Balance “ in life is so important!! All the best to Balance studio and to Yukii!

Unfortunately I had an extremely disappointing experience at Balance!! I wanted to get a trim/get my nails done a few days before attending a wedding. I bought a Groupon to get a mani/pedi, and my regular hair appt was cancelled at another salon, so I decided to try a hair cut at Balance. I showed the hair stylist David a picture from Pinterest. I told him I wanted to keep my long length, and I told him I don’t regularly style my hair. After he made the initial cuts, he asked how the length looked after he cut it. He said I should style my hair with a roundbrush or straightener. (He obviously wasn't listening to what I said earlier.) The haircut is several inches shorter than I wanted. At the end of the cut, I told him it was shorter than I was expecting, and he replied “well I showed you the length when I cut it”, which it was clearly too late by then. Very disappointing! And all right before attending a wedding - I expect a lot more from the service industry.

I don’t know why there are three bad comments. I’ve been there three times from my friend’s recommendation and my friend’s been there like five or six times, who also recommended this wonderful place to several people and they all had great experiences there. So I strongly recommend this salon, especially the hairstylist Yukki!

Kanako is the best. Super talented, will be recommending her to anyone and everyone. She got me from burgundy back to my natural (dark blonde) in one sitting WITHOUT BLEACHING MY WHOLE HEAD. Other stylists had told me it wasn't possible without alot of damage, or that it would take months.. one even quoted me $600!! She Did it in one sitting, my hair feels healthy, and she only charged me $220. I could not be happier. Thank you Kanako!!!! Side note: the salon is very nice, the staff are polite.. overall 10/10 experience.

ABSOLUTELY disappointing. I arrived with a booked appointment and when I sat down to ask the manicurist for nail extensions I was refused service because they "didn't have enough time." WHAT?! Then why did you book me in 45 mins before closing. That's like telling a customer at a restaurant even though they’ve already made reservations that we only have time to make you this dish nothing more, take it or leave it. The only compensation I was given was I could cancel the appointment and rebook. I literally drove 30 mins to the appointment and 30 mins back home for nothing. Wait, so your time is precious and mine isn't? While booking the appointment over the phone I was asked on two different occasions whether I was going to get any gel nails removed (no), however when I arrived to my appointment I was told I should've mentioned over the phone I needed extensions. Okay, so you mean next time I should teach you how to do your job too? Not to mention, all I wanted was extensions and a solid colour. I guess that was too much to ask for. If that's the way they want to treat their customers, I am never returning.

It was great service and the people were nice, however, i don't believe the stylist fully understood what I wanted, my bangs are too short even after I told her I wanted just a slight trim. Another thing that slightly bothered me was when the stylist said my hair was damaged even though it was a balayage I got done professionally in september. The remark was a little uncalled for.

Got a Japanese digital perm with Kanako and it turned out exactly how I wanted and looks great! Many people have complimented me. Kanako herself was really nice and welcoming and we chatted throughout my appointment. Note that a hair wash and blow dry are $35 extra on top of the website price however you cannot have a perm without a wash and dry so that charge should be considered part of the base pricing.

I got a haircut with David today and see picture below... I think he didn’t know how to cut my bangs because he said they were too short to start with and wouldn’t cut them. But they were getting in my eyes so I told him to cut a little bit above eyes but below eyebrows. He asked me to show him a picture of how it looks like so I showed him a picture of me before (pic 1) and this is how it turned out (pic 2). He apologized after but I’m going to be walking around like this...I had a fairly good haircut with Rachel last time so I thought I would come back. They moved client’s appointment without any notification nor apology but quibbling. They claimed they had called to reschedule my appointment on Sunday. But I didn’t make my appointment online until a day later on Monday. They asked you rudely if you still wanted to go when you expressed dissatisfaction of their services. Finch has many hair salons and manicures. Clearly this place doesn’t deserve to be considered.

Everyone who works here is extremely nice and caring towards the customer. That being said, I had gone in for a balayage with a newer stylist and he destroyed my hair within 2 months. I consulted him and reminded him throughout my appointments that I do not want to lose my hair, I am willing to wait as long as possible to go lighter but he called me in 4 weeks after my first session for another bleaching session (claiming my hair could “handle it”). From a good 24inches my hair is about less than an 14inches because it’s fried out completely and literally just slips off the ends after every wash. After paying them over $500 for hair I now paid over $700 for extensions so I could feel a bit normal. The stylist I had gone with did not even bother to style my hair the first appointment and I didn’t mind since it looked pretty okay but the second appointment I felt I was rushed throughout and even though he checked my hair continuously I do not know how he could not see the amount of damage he had caused. I’ve been very upset and every time I wash my hair I’ve only cried.

really great hidden gem of a salon! im a dude with shoulder length hair and was shopping around for different hair salons to find one that would understand my thick, coarse asian hair. this was my first time here so i wasn’t sure if they’d understand the aesthetic i was going for, but hiroki understood perfectly and afterward my hair looked almost identical to the picture. he really worked with me to understand what i wanted and thats something you don’t always get at a hair salon. the interior is very clean and cozy and just a short walk away from finch subway station. the staff were very welcoming and when i called to inquire about something they were patient and helpful. i also went on a tuesday around 3pm so it wasn’t busy, not sure how it is on the weekends. all in all, i would def recommend this place for the peaceful environment and the hair stylists’ knowledge and patience.

Had to stop coming here as Rachel is not there anymore. She knew how to cut my curly hair. The last time I was here, I was told she doesn't work there anymore. I was really disappointed. In the end I had a haircut with one of the newer girl there but the haircut was bad. She did not know how to cut curly hair which is more disappointing considering I was just there for a trim and getting charged expensively(around $70+tax I think, I don't remember exactly) as well. I travel more than 30 minutes to get here so I felt it was not worth my money and time anymore. I'm glad I didn't return as I was able to find a better salon for curly hair. Edit: In response to owner's comment about $40 cut , that's only the base price. I have a long hair so I was charged more. And the last I went is last year, not 2 years ago.

I can tell you, that David Tang is an incredible and caring stylist with positive attitude and individual approach. I trust David's professional advice as to what hair style would look best on me. I'm a little late in posting this review but I go to Balance exclusively for all my hair needs ever since my friend introduced me to this place several years ago. My hair is very fine so it's quite fragile, tangles easily and is very finnicky. I used to hate going to salons because I was scared of getting it washed and brushed by someone who would inevitably be very rough and hurt my scalp. However, Yukki and staff all treat my hair very gently and make sure that it's not a stressful experience. I've also been bleaching and colouring it for awhile now but Yukki always manages to make my hair look and feel absolutely amazing. The service and professionalism from all the staff is also top tier. I am always asked if I am doing ok, if anything's uncomfortable or if anything hurts at all (which it never does). During my last visit, I asked for a surprise colour and Yukki made sure to ask about my general likes/dislikes, aesthetics, wardrobe, and what range of colour/brightness is acceptable. The end result is beautiful and I couldn't be happier. Overall, it's a wonderful place and I highly recommend it to everybody ????????

I must say I have been getting my hair cut and styled by Yukki the owner of Balance Hair Salon for years. The most attentive and detailed hair stylist I've ever delt with. If you are looking for a quality and very stylish cut then this is the place to visit.

Booked my appointment online through their website, with the Director / Founder, Yukki. Came in for a hair treatment; pricing on their website indicates $45 and up for a treatment. This was a restore / moisture treatment, which they only left in for a total of 15 mins in my hair. I found this a little strange as I've gone to other hair salons and same such treatments would be left for at least 30 mins. I found this extremely pricey for the amount of time they spent on my hair! My other complaint has to do with lack of pricing disclosure for blow drying my hair following the treatment. Its expected that any salon WOULD NOT let their customers walk out with wet hair, so charging an additional $35 for a blow dry (without telling the customer about this additional fee) is disrespectful, sneaky and absurdly expensive. The blow dry itself was also completed by the assistant and not the Director himself. Lets put it this way, I could have done a better job styling my own hair. My overall thoughts -- this $80 service was not worth it whatsoever, and customer service was awful. Will not be returning for any other service. PLEASE NOTE: this place takes cash / debit only (they also failed to this mention upfront).

They were no delays to my scheduled appointment. Service was great all around. Would have liked to have a few more shellac colour options, though. Also, I could only find paid street parking. I went to get a shellac manicure. The nail polish they use for the shellac is a cheap quality. My nails started having air bubbles all over and parts started fading. Nothing has peeled but my nails looks really bad because of their cheap quality shellac polish. Super disappointed and a waste of money.

I always see Kanako at Balance, and she always does an outstanding job. She is meticulous and detail oriented and always takes the time to make sure that the style looks good on me. In my most recent visit I decided to try a digital perm, and got a short cut and toner. The Salon is well cleaned, not crowded and always treats the customers with care. I highly recommend people to use Balance. It is not a cheap service, but it is worth the price I pay.

I got my manicure and pedicore done today. Very nice cosy place. The nail area is small but the professionalism that associated with the service is a must return! No wait. I used a groupon for shellac mani and pedicure even with a groupon discount i felt my business was much appreciated. My entire nail and toes at the side are fully painted, too often the sides are not done at other places. They also offer a discount for next visit.. A++++++ a must visit!

If you have an upcoming party, interview, appointment, some important event which you cannot afford to have bad hair on that day, YUKKI is the one you want to see! I've been seeing Yukki for a few times now and he never disappoints. I've gone from having long hair to a short bob, and he styled it really well to make my face look slimmer and i've only gotten compliments on it. I've decided to keep my hair short/above shoulder and went for a digital perm with Yukki again 2 week ago, and he gave me professional opinion & a realistic expectation of how my hair would look like. I said i wanted it more wavy rather than tight & curly, and he understood what i meant right away, and everything came out to be perfect! I'm hoping these waves will last for a few months, and i will definitely come back again to do my hair!!
