Maybe it was the person I got (Simon) but I had a pretty bad experience, first off he didn't really listen to what I wanted... I asked for full ombre, so it was dark on top (I had blonde hair to start but my roots were showing so I wanted to change it). He put highlights on top, way more then he put brown, then I told him that's too blonde so he tried to fix it by putting brown in most of it but half assing it, there are patches everywhere of blonde and brown circles... I'm very upset with it. He didn't listen and I even showed him a picture of what I wanted. The ombre is all choppy in the back and doesn't look good at all... Its over priced considering what crap I had to go through to get a half assed colouring. I just got fed up saying that the colour was fine cause I've already spent 5 hours in the chair... I wouldn't go to simon honestly. He's nice and was apologetic but didn't seem like he cared after I asked him to redo it.

i got the keratin straightening treatment done yesterday and 3.5 hours later, we finished with mindblowing results. it turned my impossible-to-manage, frizzy curls to a similar result that i would have after spending [minimum] 1hr straightening my hair with a heat iron, except it’s even smoother & silkier! and my favourite part...it’ll still look like that after it gets wet! Sets has given me hours of my life back with this treatment. gotta love science!

Probably the best in winnipeg, in my opinion coz I’ve been sooooo many places to cut or perm my hair and none of them is worth going twice instead of this one. I recently got 24" microbead hair extensions from Sets on Corydon and I absolutely LOVE them. I have gotten different kinds of hair extensions in the past and these are my favourite. Desiree was able to put them in so quickly and the whole atmosphere of the salon and the employees is so wonderful. I 10/10 recommend this salon to anyone interested. They were even able to keratin straighten my extensions. They have so many options of different things you can do and it makes them an amazing and well rounded hair salon. I will most definitely continue going back. LOVE THE SERVICE and love the hair!!

Desiree did my hair extensions for me and I couldn’t by anymore happier with the result. I had keratin hair extensions. At first the hair I ordered came in a colour that wasn’t suitable for me and the tips were a bit too large for my very thin hair but she fixed all the issues and now I’m very very pleased with the result. The salon itself is very quiet and not crowded the environment is very calm and welcoming. I think I found my hair place right here in Winnipeg and won’t need to fly all the way to Vancouver to get my hair done.

I waited one month to write my review, since I did a straightening process and I wanted to see how it would hold (spoilers: it's still awesome!). I was planning to get the Japanese straightening, but I had some bleach on my hair tips, so James advised me to get the Keratin treatment instead - it is safer for hair that has been bleached. The results were way better than other Keratin treatments I had in the past: my hair is silky, and when I let it dry by itself, it becomes this natural not-too-perfect straight hair. If I style it with heat it becomes super sleek instead. The only thing that bothered me was the smell of the product during the process, it is pretty strong (but they give you a fan to hold so you can keep the smell away from your face). In the future I might cut the bleach away from my hair tips and then try the Japanese straightening instead, to see if the smell is milder. But I can say I'm super satisfied one month after having the treatment, my hair is still looking great!

Sets Japanese Permanent Hair Straighten system is amazing! I wish I had discovered it years ago. James transformed my very thick and wavy hair to be silky smooth and shiny hair with air drying alone. My hair is now NO maintenance, and even more silky straight than I have been able to achieve by flat ironing. Desiree in specific is the girl i go see everytime, she is lovely. her knowledge on hair color techniques and suggestions are bang on and she was the most help with finding my first set of non removable extensions, and what option(s) would be best for me. they are very accommodating there with appointment dates and times. small place but overall id say the personable customer service is what is most important along with knowledge of their profession and Sets on Corydon covers both of those aspects!

Ask to see simon.. i went there on the suggestion of a friend.. and i was amazed by what he can do... i had waist length hair... i told him i wanted to lose some length, but not short by any means.. he cut it it exactly how i wanted it, and i wanted some foil highlights done.. i went in wanting pink..., they didn't have any at the time.. so i gave him some room to play with, and walked out with these amazing copper and cherry red streaks in my brown hair. it was beautiful! and their prices are very fair!

His head-turning hair cuts show off his cutting expertise, which is second to none in Winnipeg!! I have tried other stylists once or twice, but James is THE BEST! I am half Asian, and have extremely dry hair that is prone to frizz. I've had Keratin Treatments done by James several times - it's amazing! My hair is healthy, soft & glossy after a keratin treatment and takes almost no effort to style. Sets has reasonable prices, and staff is friendly and helpful. Each time I've been in the salon, I love watching the other stylists - their work is great too!

Unfortunately my experience wasn't quite as nice as the other reviewers. I had no problem with the staff who seemed to not talk very much but rather focus on their work, which is perfectly fine as I don't generally like small talk. Besides this fact my stylist was nice. However, I did have a problem with how my hair turned out. Having had two previous bad experiences with having my hair coloured I tried to be as specific as I could. I have fairly long medium brown hair and I wanted and ombre of a brownish red colour. I brought multiple picture of both the style and colour that I wanted and was specific about not wanting streaks or the top of my hair done. Throughout the process I asked some questions to make sure it was going as I wanted. But after my hair was dryed it ended up being a pink-red colour (think beats) not at all a redish brown and she did do it from the top of my hair so now I have random streaks of burgundy colour on top as well. The stylist was nice enough to realize it wasn't what I had wanted or expected and toned it to take down some of the brightness of the colour (twice!). It was still to much for me but at this point I didn't want to stay longer or pay more so I opted to pay and put it behind me. Conclusion; I had to use the vitamin C method to safely strip some of the colour off my hair, I can now live with the ends of my hair but I still hate the streaks on top which don't blend so I'll have to bobby pin to hide them. From what it sounds like from the other reviews I'm sure they're nice people and good at cutting hair but not at colouring hair. I wish I had tried it at home, at least if it turned out bad I'd only have spent $20 and had myself to blame.

I bought a Dealfind deal for cut, highlights and deep condioning. I booked with Desire, and couldn't be happier! I waited a few months before booking as they sold over 700, so I knew I had to be a bit patient to get in for an appointment. The wait was worth it! Desire took her time and did an amazing job. I was NOT treated like a "coupon customer" where you may get inferior service. My highlights were just as good and even better than some "seasoned" hair stylists I have had in the past. Cut was nice, and blow out very good. I would highly recommend Sets on Corydon. Nice relaxed atmosphere too.

id have to say james is the best in custamer service ive ever seen. hes bent over backwards for me and my gf who i brought here to meet me. and i wanted to suprise her with new hair exstensions.. and he cramed us into his busy seduale and tryed all he could to make our sedule work. was unable to do the exstensions but helped us until we found a sutable place that could do it in the time needed.. id lime to thank him and his staff at sets on coyrden and would recomend for everyone to use as i wish i and my gf had more time to use him and there amazing services.

I have going to Sets on Corydon for about 5 years. Prior to going Sets my hair dresser was a lovely woman who gave me a good haircut at at a good price......she was my hairdresser for 10 years. My hair was ok nothing special, then I discovered Sets on Corydon. Game changer my hair has gone from ok to being my crowning glory. James OMG the man is an artist he doesn't just cut your hair he creates masterpieces. James takes the time to figure out exactly what you need.....skin color, face shape and even how much time and effort you are willing to put into maintaining the hairstyle is considered and discussed. I have strangers coming up to me complimenting my hair and asking for the name of my hairdresser. I watch in amazement when I am getting my hair done all the women who come in looking average leaving the salon looking gorgeous. If there was a way to leave a hundred star rating for James at Sets on Corydon I would....check Sets on Corydon out you won't be disappointed.

First ever visit to Sets on Corydon because I wanted to try the LA weave extensions. I have fallen in love with this process! I have tried the braided-in version of extensions in previous years and after the LA weave would never go back. Also, it took 50 minutes to put 6 single rows in. I am very happy with the LA weave and the staff there. James to Cassandra to Desiree are very professional and very friendly. I would highly recommend this salon!

I've had many treatments in the past by James and I couldn't be happier how my hair has always turned out. So I figured I would give this one a try . . .and my hair turned out unreal!
