I just adore Xcentric Hair Studio! I have been going here for nearly 20 years. My stylist, Courtney, is the best, along with her colleagues. If you want a beautiful, stylish cut or colour, then Xcentric is the place to go. A lovely location, warm and elegantly decorated. The staff are always welcoming. I've started taking my daughters here and they live to have their hair styled after a new cut - curls, braids, a little pop of colour, Xcentric will meet all your needs. I had balayage and cut done by Wendy a couple weeks ago and I love it. This was not my first time at the salon but it was my first time with Wendy. Right off the bat she knew my hair type just by looking at my hair. Since I'm not from the GTA my hair is not used to the water in KW, and she could tell that the minerals in the water were building up and clinging onto my hair, making it harder to lift. Wendy educated me on how to take care of my hair given that I live in student housing and the issue of the water is out of my hands. She recommended me a purifying shampoo and taught me how often to use it. She still managed to do a great job with the colour and gave me what I expected. When she was finished cutting my hair I was concerned that the bottom was too heavy and didn't have enough layers in it, making it look bulky. She reassured me that it was because my hair was dry and poofy from the bleaching we did, and that once my hair got its moisture back in a week or so, it would return to normal. I'm so glad I trusted her and she didn't over-thin my hair because I hate that stringy look at the ends. The price of the service was actually really good despite what people say about prices rising. For the same service in the GTA, I would have been charged much more. Not to mention that Wendy is skilled and she is extremely quick and precise when doing the foils. My least favourite thing about getting my hair done is sitting in the chair for hours and she managed to do it quickly but also a good job at the same time. Nothing felt rushed whatsoever and I was glad not to have spent the whole day in the salon.

Excellent salon! I am so happy with my most recent hair cut and colour (tinted gloss) by Reann. She was so friendly and very detail oriented. My hair colour is so vibrant and my hair looks healthier than ever before. I have long hair and Reann did an amazing job cleaning up my ends and adding dimension while leaving the length. Just got my hair cut and styled by Whitney! I’m super happy with how it turned out! I was a bit nervous since I was cutting my hair shorter than usual! I was also looking for someone who is not scared to use thinning blade and scissors. I found them all here. I'm glad that I don't have to drive all the way to Toronto to get my hair done.

Great salon. Super professional, friendly and welcoming. I had Carrie as my stylist and I asked her for advice on what I should do. She helped suggest a couple of things without being overbearing and went over the entire process with me so I was sure of what I was getting. Worth the price (~60 for cut and style with wash/blow-dry).

Very loud and busy salon. Can’t say much about the other hairdressers but the one I had did a brutal job cutting my hair.. much shorter than what I wanted and very very choppy. Not to mention the hair dye left on my forehead. Everyone was very nice and cheers to them for putting up with my crying baby and not being rude about it!

My stylist was late to the appointment and I'm not sure if the front desk and stylists communicate at all. I asked for olaplex in my formula, and I thought they used it (judging by the cost of everything and since I asked). But days in I could tell there clearly wasn't any used and my hair was super damaged. The staff weren't that friendly, and they didn't have the shampoo I needed in stock to maintain my hair colour.

Everytime my husband xomes from this salon his hair looks amazing. I have never seen such a well done hairstyle in men in general. The best part I think, is that he gets complemented by other men too and they want to know where he gets his haircut. Even myself!! So I went for the first time and his hairdresser did such a beautiful job as well as recommended me very good products according to my hair type. We love it here. The service is also really good:)

I have had bad luck in terms of hair color before where I had paid a lot but didn’t ended up with the color I wanted. This place exceeded my expectations. AMAZING experience. I just had my hair cut there today and I had Reann. I can't even say enough good things about her. I have been cutting my own hair for years because I had such a bad experience in the past. I went in pretty nervous, but Reann was absolutely so incredible. She knew exactly what I wanted, explained what would work and what wouldn't and gave me such a great hair cut. She's so friendly. She will be my hairdresser from now on. Oh, and great prices! I'm so happy I decided to go here.

My daughter had long beautiful hair to her lower back. She wanted a bit of a change to a layered style with length to her mid back. She brought a photo of the style she wanted. The stylist started cutting her hair little by little and ended up cutting to neck length! Not only was her hair cut far too short but the back looked like it was cut straight across! We are Asian and asked for a stylist with experience cutting Asian her. But we got a junior stylist with obviously very little experience cutting any hair! Allowing such a inexperienced stylist to hack away without proper training or supervision is appalling. My teenaged daughter was very upset.

I came in to Carrie with absolutely the worst haircut that another salon had given me the day before. Carrie turned this unprofessional, amateur cut (even though I went to a senior stylist in one of the more expensive salons in Waterloo) to one that I am getting non-stop complements on. My husband keeps telling me how he absolutely loves my hair!! He always has been great with complements but he literally says it everyday since Carrie did my hair!! Thank you! Highly highly recommend this salon and Carrie is amazing!

We were welcomed with hot tea and the front desk receptionist was really friendly and made us feel welcomed. Although the service is not the best at times (I wish they look more time at the beginning to ask you what colour you wanted and how many sessions it would take to achieve it), they are absolutely fantastic at what they do with hair. My hair was a complete mess when I came in, but after I left, my hair was silky, shiny, soft, and smooth. I never even knew my hair was capable of looking like that.

I had a haircut with Wendy, and she was worth every cent. I showed her two photos and she gave me exactly what I wanted. Super happy! Will be returning. She gave me tips on proper hair washing and hair styling for my new cut. The salon is modern and beautiful and clean, and there is convenient parking. I walked uptown and grabbed lunch after, the location is walking distance to a lot of good eats. Recommended! They all look very talented there.

I've been going there for years -- actually as far back as their previous location! Always leave pleased with the results and feeling like a million bucks! Wendy's very personable and does a superb job with my cut, tint, root touch up, highlights -- you name it! And the salon staff take the threat of COVID very seriously -- all are wearing masks and you're met at the door with hand sanitizer, a fresh, clean mask for you and a forehead thermometer, before being escorted to your chair. Customers are seated at every other station and while they're allowed up to 10 people, Xcentric has kept it to 6 at a time (at the time of this writing) and that's staff and clients combined! I feel safe and it's quiet too! Highly recommend!

Went in to see Lisa for a colour correction. She took my botched bleached hair that was orange and uneven and horrible to a beautiful platinum blonde I didn’t even think was possible. Everyone was very kind and professional and it was a pleasant atmosphere. Definitely will return!

I wanted to have a positive expierence here after spending close to $400 . however after leaving the salon i found my self buying my own haircutting scissors to cut my own split ends off. what did i even pay for? The hair color whitney did came out nicely, it was just blonde highlights. However I felt kind of insecure when this hairstylist started mentioning on my complexion. I was not there to discuss anything to do with my face. Not very professional. I dont reccomend this salon.
