Been here three times now and loved it every time! This place is a great salon to feel like you're with family--if your family is like mine and appreciates dark/sarcastic humour, lots of laughter and playful jabs. It's definitely not a typical salon. The staff are sassy, fun-loving and loud, and that makes it really fun. I sometimes want to just hang around all day! As for the actual services, I've had Taylor all three times and she's completely transformed me from my "McHairhut" days. Stunning work, they post almost everything they do on their Facebook page and it all looks amazing. Highly recommended! Big bonus: LGBT friendly and inclusive. They're not at all going to force a gendered style on you. You get what you ask for.

Best hair salon experience I’ve ever had. It was my first time coming here and I felt right at home like I’ve been coming here my whole life. As soon as I saw the lgbt flags on the side of the building I knew the vibes would be good. Taylor did pink highlights and installed hair tinsel on my hair and it’s looks stunning I got so many compliments. She is an absolute sweetheart and so friendly. I love to see Shannon. I followed Shannon to her current salon because I trust her with every fiber in my body with my hair. I have gone through a drastic color transformation, being a dark brown to a nice, vibrant blonde. Shannon pays attention to detail, she really listens to what I am looking for and her vibe is super friendly. I am so grateful to have found a lifelong hairdresser. I would highly recommend Shannon. Love love LOVE! Will never go anywhere else but here. You really do pay for what you get, a fantastic due for an arm and a leg (: 10/10 would recommend no mattter the price. I've gone three times now, but I'd like to share my most positive experience. I made a mistake and told the clerk to trim my hair however she thought looked good, and I ended up not being a fan. I went back and explained the situation, and their manager (Sean, sorry for spelling) was sympathetic and fixed it up at no additional charge. I had a great 'doo after that!

I got my hair cut pretty short and colored darker and I just want to say that Shannon did such a great job. She was so good at explaining everything along the way and showing me different ways to style it too. She gave me exactly what I asked for and it turned out just as I had hoped. This was the first time I was really happy with a cut, can't recommend this place enough!

I have never been to a hairdresser as friendly as Cowboys & Angels. I am always greeted with smiles and asked whether I'd like coffee or tea. I am a guy with hair that is difficult to maintain, and this location has been the only place that has taken the time to make sure I am 100% happy with the style. I always go to Kate, she is absolutely amazing and always takes the time to make sure I look my best. I have never been to a place where so much care has been put into my hairstyle, and I am so grateful to have been introduced to these guys! Happy with the outcome but the experience was awful. I spent 50 minutes sitting with colour on my hair while the stylist put colour on another client - she didn't even check it once. Didn't get the massage advertised on their website - even the wash was bad. She was pulling on my hair and grinding the water nozzle against my scalp. I honestly didn't think it was possible to have a bad hair wash. Won't be back.

I give this place one star, went in there bout 2wks ago. My stylist was over busy and passed me off to another who looked at what i wanted once and said she'd done a few like that before proceeding to cut wayy too much off and it looks like she grabbed hair and just chopped ontop of the fact i had to go finish my shopping after covered in loose hair! Also none of the stuff besides a half assed head massage while washing that they promise on the site happened. I won't be back or recommend them.

Absolutely the best place to go!! Drove all the way from West Virginia as I have heard of this place from a friend. So worth the 7 hour trip. If you can make it in less time, please do so!! I had my hair cut my Rebecca Lamb, and I was awfully disappointed. My hair was long at a time as I was donating it for Cancer Society. Someone recommended this place to me, but she did a terrible job. I also specifically asked for an experienced person prior making an app. However, after I left the salon, my friends started to asked me who cut my hair so badly. it was not thinned properly and just the whole haircut looked like a novice was learning how to cut. I would NEVER go back there again.

I booked an appointment here before getting my grad photos taken and Taylor did an amazing job. I keep my hair pretty short, and so I have never really known how to have my hair cut to make it look its best. I told her how the sides of my hair always puff out as it grows and she told me about how she could cut it so that it would look more even as it grows out and she was absolutely right. Excellent conversation and an even better haircut, I will definitely be back!

Personally I think $55 is a bit much for a trim and some bangs, also the bangs are kind of uneven (ones way thicker than the other however my hair’s very dark and unevenness is sometimes hard to see) but the lady who cut my hair was very nice and the salon has a friendly atmosphere :)

Cowboys & Angels is a fantastic salon! A bit strangely laid out as it is a house that has been converted into a salon, but the people working there are amazing! Kate did my hair today and did an amazing job at refreshing my boring split ended do! She even managed to incorporate my unfortunately located bald spot into a pattern shaved into the side of my head! Seriously an amazing salon and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a new style or just to get a touch up. Went for a hair color last week and after showing and explaining Callie (one of the hairdressers) what color I want and what style, I ended up getting something completely different. She did such a bad job. I told her that then and there, but then was told not to worry and that after a wash or two at home I will end up having the result I showed her. I washed my hair and ended up having three different colors on my hair which is not what I wanted at all. Never going back here again, other than asking for my money back. I am so disappointed and I was expecting great service after checking the reviews, but now I can see this salon is not what reviews are claiming it to be.

Saw awesome review and thought id give it a try. Went to get a daring haircut, that if done right would have been cute. Instead i got it shaved way to high and uneven. The layers are choppy and weird it honestly looks like i cut it myself. I brought in pictures of many different angles and they looked at it for all of two secs and said they had it even when i offered to show again. It was rushed and the hairstylest kept talking to people while doing my hair as well as the fact that the services for the massages were not included as said on there website. Its hectic and cramped and crazy in there will not go again. But i will say everyone in there is very friendly. Thats all they got going for them.

I've been seeing Cindy since the old location on king street. I wear a pretty technically cut bob and so many people just can't get the clean lines I love. Cindy gets them everytime. I don't need to keep going in for things to be evened out which is a constant issue other places. I moved an hour away and still make a point of driving back to get my cut. When I try and call to make an appointment they never seem happy to help but rather sound annoyed you'd bother them at all. So if you are a non-white customer I would NOT recommend this place to you.. Or anyone for that matter. They pretend to be "Inclusive" but are the complete opposite of that. This is the only place Ive ever felt my skin color played a factor in how I was treated.

Cowboys & Angels - Besides the very creative name. The salon is very clean, organized and has a very interesting interior! The front desk staff is very friendly, and hangup your jacket for you. I was greeted by Shawn. And was assisted right away. As a Non-Binary identifying person Cowboys and Angels is a VERY SAFE salon. I felt so comfortable that if I wanted to switch my hairstyle in the future I know I can without judgments. I am looking forward to coming back regularly!

Update: After reading this review the owner Cindy reached out to me and offered to give me a complimentary haircut herself. The next time I was in the area I got her to help fix a botch job I'd gotten done in Toronto. She was very professional and she clearly knows how to give a good haircut - it's been months now and my hair has grown out beautifully. Next time I go I may ask for Cindy herself - although imho what I want (an angled bob) isn't really that complicated and even a junior stylist should be able to do it. That being said I'll find a stylist there who can do what I want and stick with them as much as possible. OP: Overall I feel like the quality has gone down over the years. I started out at this salon a number of years ago with a fantastic hairdresser who has since left. Over the past while I've tried out various people here with varying results. Unfortunately, the very last time I went there, I had a really badly botched haircut, which I tolerated for a couple weeks before heading elsewhere to get fixed.

It can be chaotic in there at times but they all work together and make sure their customers are comfortable by asking if you need a drink of coffee tea or water. Everyone has their strengths and they can point you to who would best suit you for what you want done. Didn't pay attention to details. I brought my own old picture hoping it would help but didn't look similar at all. Took 25min (even though they said 1h at the phone) because didn't do much except wash, cut the hair to a shorter length, blow dry. My bang is split in the middle and was told my hair is stubborn while previous places I went always make sure it looks the way I want to. I probably would get the same experience at some places that charge half the price. Will not come back.

Nikki is an angel, I can't thank her enough, I went to get my hair highlighted for my son's wedding, I was very clear on how I wanted it to look, unfortunately the stylist didn't understand and after 5 hours my hair looked horrible, I left the salon very upset, but the next day Nikki called and offer to redo my hair (she wasn't my original stylist), This was a very important event (lots of pictures for the wedding) and Nikki went above and beyond and took the time to make me happy, I really appreciate it, and will definitely be back to see her, her integrity and pride in her work is outstanding.

I wanted to try a new place in Kitchener/Waterloo, I'd heard good things about Cowboys and Angels from friends. I called on a Friday morning and their most senior stylist (according to the receptionist) has several vacancies later that day. Great! Trivium: The store front is unique and interesting, the staff are lively and friendly. I felt good when I walked it. The cut I wanted: I came in with high resolution profile shots taken from the sides and back of my head after a haircut I got in another city. The cut was a strong fade along the sides, with a sharp increase in length between the side and top of my head, and more length on the top towards the centre-line of my head. The hairline was cut in a bowed-out V that aligned with my ears. I asked for the exact same cut and my stylist looked at the photos and seemed confident about what I wanted. The cut I got: The sides have barely any fade. The change in length from top to bottom is so minor, it doesn't look like a fade. It doesn't look good. The line distinguishing sides of head and top has been obliterated - there's just a uniform increase in length now. The top too is uniform in length, no more increase in length towards the middle. The hairline is literally a rectangle. What I think about the cut I got: This must be some mistake, I heard this place could do a decent men's cut? The non-aggressive fade is the easier one to cut, but isn't what I asked for. The total loss of subtleties in hair length makes my whole head look like a uniform ball. It reminds me of cuts I got as a kid from my mom. The hairline is ridiculous and the polar opposite of what I showed the stylist. It looks like something given to a mental patient by the state-assigned barber in a mental institution. In sum: I haven't before been this badly disappointed with a haircut, ever. I feel self-conscious about it. In retrospect, that their most senior stylist had vacancies the same day I called should have sent up red flags. Good stylists I've had before book a week in advance. I have zero desire to go back in for a touch-up: they're not getting near my hair again. A refund would be appropriate.

But most importantly she listens and gives her input on style, maintenance and works with you to get the best outcome. I came in for a cut/colour and the big 10 inch chop. I was fairly nervous but Taylor’s amazing personality and confidence in the end look settled my nerves immediately. Her exuberant personality kept the visit fun! The whole team is very friendly and works together amazingly. I moved to Canada 2 years ago and can finally say I have found my salon!

Callie is awesome! I went in with medium brown hair that had been dyed and didn’t want to bleach my hair, but wanted it to be a red-purple colour. She came up with an alternative plan and spent as much time as was needed to get me to my perfect colour, and always offers solutions when there’s some hiccups (like realizing my hair was permanently dyed not semi, and doing a bleach bath instead of a full bleach). Everyone that works here is so fun to be around and very nice!! I love my hair every time I leave and appreciate the time and effort that is put into it.

This was my first time coming here and I had a great experience! I went in for a cut and dye with Ava, and it was great! I showed her what I wanted and also asked for her opinion on things. She explained everything and helped me choose something that was realistic for my hair, while providing the quote upfront as well. I got a balayage which was a medium brown and some hidden green underneath. With my hair history, I wasn't sure how things were going to turn out but it really exceeded my expectations! It looked so great, the green came out very vibrant and the brown was exactly the colour I showed her. She recommended a cut that would work with my thick hair, while getting rid of the dead ends and keeping the length I desired. I have a lot of hair, so the process took awhile, but Ava was very patient and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. The atmosphere is also really great, all staff are very friendly and welcoming. 5/5 would recommend! I'll definitely be back for my next cut and dye. :)

The only place I will get my hair cut! This salon is phenomenal, cindy and staff are amazing, and I always walk out feeling confident and excited about my hair. They are a safe an open space for queer folks who want a cut (you are welcomed by a rainbow flag at the entrance), they break the binary and charge by length and style not by "men" and "women" pricing, and they really know hair. 10/10 reccomend to everyone.
