While Qali is fairly new to cutting mens hair, I genuinely do not remember leaving a salon being happier with my hair than I was when I left Qali. Awesome cut. Swift service, lovely people, fairly priced, and the oatmilk latte was delicious. Such a warming, inviting salon. VERY pretentious, typical snobby Vancouver salon. Go here if you want to light your wallet on fire for a very basic hair appointment. For starters, when I walked up to the salon, the hair stylist was taking selfies, and after knocking on the door and her seeing me, she proceeded to continue taking selfies, and left me out in the rain until she was done. I booked an appointment online, and I guess I booked the wrong type of appointment (root touch up vs. bleach out). Which was obviously no problem there, I admit that was 100% my fault. However, the hair stylist had NO problem telling me multiple times, in a very apathetic, condescending way that it was indeed my fault- which by the way, I myself have worked in customer service for 6 years and I always at least find a polite, sympathetic way to tell a customer that we can't provide what they are asking. She proceeded to tell me that this was all my fault, and that I should've called rather than booking online (go figure- why have the online booking option then?) To be completely honest, I was not even mad AT ALL that I couldn't get my hair done, I would've happily just booked for another day because it was in fact my fault -it was the attitude and rude demeanour of the stylist that turned me off. Why did she have to tell me 5+ times that it was my fault, and then act like a teenager who doesn't care? I also politely asked if another stylist maybe had time to do it and she said she was the only one in the salon that day, and then another stylist walked in LOL. And to top it all off, I asked what the price would've been, and she presents me with an estimated $300 (plus tax and tip) FOR ROOTS! SO overpriced, especially with the way I was treated. I could mind the price if the stylist wasn't so condescending. Oh and I asked her why there was a $60 uncharge for olaplaex, and she proceeded to tell me that my hair would need it. Thanks hun, but my hair isn't that fried. Such a cheap shot for an up-sell. Pretentious, pretentious, pretentious. They might treat you well if you act/look like you have money.

For starters the salon is in a great location and the space is beautiful. I felt like I was sitting in a stylishly curated local art gallery space. The service was on point, they even offered me sparkly water! Then my stylist Alison is the best with colour and cut. My hair is dark and super brassy no one ever gets the right blend of toner for me except for her. I’ve tried hundreds and she’s the best! They use eco friendly everything and top of the line products so I know my hair is safe. To top it off the price was more affordable than any salon I’ve been to in Vancouver! I’ll be coming back.

Getting hair cut or styled is always a nerve-racking experience, I don’t think I will ever be 100% calm getting it done. That being said, my anxiety level went waaaay down during my visit at QALI. Everyone- from the front staff to my stylist Veida- were kind and welcoming. Even though it was busy there was still calm, it was a good vibe. If you have curly hair like me, you’ve come to the right place. My stylist Veida was lovely and communicated plenty so I knew what was happening and why. I was shown some styling techniques specific to my curls, and left with healthy, bouncy locks. 10/10 would recommend QALI !

The stylists start with a consultation of what you're looking for, including asking for photos or inspo, finishing with a breakdown of time estimate and fees. I really appreciate that they do a cost estimate before anything is done for no surprises at payment. The space is bright, open and has a community vibe. Coffee/tea available on site.
