I walked into Solis crying and walked out happy and smiling! I came to see Ernesto after a bad haircut - my hair desperately needed help. He took the time to talk to me and listen to what I wanted. We both picked a style and he got started with the magic. I saw him go into this sort of really cool "trance" while he was cutting my hair and my hair went from whatever it was to awesome! After having always had long (beautiful) hair, today I am a short-haired hottie and am really loving it! I would totally recommend Ernesto and Solis to anyone who is looking for a great hairstyle.

Recently I posted a review here about my bad experience with Solis Salon in the month of July 2017. Basically what happened is that I booked and appointment and then stylist was busy with two other clients at the same time and then didn't gave the concentration on me at all. And I ended up having my hair exactly opposite of what I wanted. So after I posted a review on google, Surprisingly owner of Solis salon called me as they have my contact information and consulted me about the past experience. He definitely accepted the fact that his stylist should have given attention! And called me for a hair treatment 1 time so that he can compensate about what happened. It is not about the money at all with me. I am a person who will always search for a good customer services and obviously accepting nature. And I got it from owners. That's all. That is what Solis Salon stylists need to learn. Rest I know they are professional and they are really good in their work.. So, yeah.. Thank you for reaching out to me.. Definitely will give it a try again and I am sure it will be best as it was 1st time I went to Solis salon.

My sister sent me to Micah Terry almost 3 years ago. I came in with an orange mess on my head, wanting to go to my natural colour with highlights. Micah was patient, careful and professional in getting my desired results without causing serious damage to my hair. This salon is incredible! The stylist that i had Bettina, was very sweet and skilled. She listened to my hair concerns and answered all my questions. I have very long, tangeled hair that is really hard to manage. She washed it well, gave me a pleasant scalp massage and a great layered haircut. It turned out beautiful. With all the issues of the day and the current state of affairs, I decided to treat myself to something a bit nicer than my usual barber cut. When I spoke with Ernesto, his enthusiasm and passion for his craft convinced me that I needed to invest a little more in my appearance. When I sat in his chair to get my hair done, I felt nothing but a strong sense of self-confidence that I had made the right choice. With that, I left it up to him and trusted in his decision. That is when I saw the artistry take hold and I was impressed. After it was all said and done, I felt a youthfulness that I had not felt in a long time. The fountain of youth in his scissors. It has been over a week since I was in Ernesto’s shop and despite being my own stylist and using product that I still do not know if I am applying correctly, I’m still getting compliments. I still feel some of that youthful exuberance. I don’t know what that is, but I can tell you that it was more than just a cut. See you soon.

This was a very risky endeavor, but thought we would give it a try. Honestly, the experience exceeded our expectations. Both stylist ( Lindsey & Shaira "Shy") did a great job! They listened to our requests and gave us the style we wanted. It really helped kick off our Toronto visit with real Toronto flair. 100%, highly recommend! I've been a loyal client of Solis for the past 7 years. I have a head of curls, and trying to find a stylist who can cut curly hair has been a life long challenge. I was introduced to Ernesto and Dino through a friend who insisted I sit their chair and throw caution to the wind. That day was life changing. Ernesto is brilliant, and my hair has never looked this good, but there's more. I went back a week later and let Dino do his"colour" thing. Honestly, I never thought it was possible…frizz transformed into tight thick curls, gorgeous highlights and lowlights, natural and hydrated…unbelievable! Donato's hair salon colour tech and stylist both ruined my hair. I did research for almost a month until I came across Solis hair salon. I didn't want to risk another bad hair look so I decided it was best to go with Dino and Ernest, the masters themselves. I met with Dino who gave me a full comprehensive consultation for almost a half hour. Really took his time to explain the process to me. I didn't walk out with a complete makeover because I decided to go through his suggested process so not to ruin my hair but I did end up getting a haircut. Ernest promised to give me the haircut of my life and so he did! His technique is so different from all other salons I had ever been to. If I were to ever give an award to someone for best hair specialist it will most definitely go to Ernest. I walked out feeling like a million bucks. I think my hair looks better than Kim K!!! Since I moved to Toronto approx 3 years ago I have found it SO hard to find a new stylist...I had been searching for a while and came across Salon Solis, with their amazing online reviews I decided to book an appointment. I can say I was not disappointed at all! From the moment I walked in the staff and atmosphere of the salon were so warm and welcoming. My stylist was Marlise and she was absolutely amazing! She took the time to do a thorough consult with me to determine what I wanted in my cut and colour, was very knowledgeable and offered great advice for what would work well with my hair...I felt immediately at ease and knew I was in good hands, and the end result was more than I could have asked for! I arrived at the salon with drab multi toned red hair that was in serious need of a cut and colour correction...and walked away with healthy looking, vibrant deep red hair with hints of violet that looks absolutely stunning! 10/10 I will be going back to Marlise and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a fantastic experience!

From the moment you walk into Salon Solis, your experience begins…the friendly greeting as you walk in, the taking of my jacket and being asked if I want a coffee or water all makes you feel right at home. The entire teams works efficiently and before you know it I am sitting in Ernesto's chair for my hair cut with my latte in hand. Ernesto himself is a hair genius and does not let me leave his chair until the cut is perfect, which starts with a dry cut, followed up a wash and touch up with wet hair and then final trim once the hair is dry to ensure no strand is left untamed. Dino, who does my color is equally brilliant and gives you his take on what works and doesn't work. I always leave with a smile on my face and can't recommend this place enough!

Nicole did my hair cut and colored my hair. She is amaaazing and a sweetheart! I had no clue what I wanted, but Nicole helped me figure out. She was so patient with me and did the job perfectly well. The staff is extremely friendly and cater to your every need. They offer you beverages, which is also great. The entire atmosphere was comforting. I would definitely go back there.

Long overdue review from me. Not many hair salons like Solis left. Coming out of some of the most prestigious salons in the city, Ernesto and Dino have been in the business for 2 decades now and their skills show. So many stylists can make you look good for a few hours. With Ernesto, my cuts are always low maintenance and just grow out beeeaaaautifully. If that isn't the mark of a top stylist, I don't know what is. I'm kind of glad they're on the second floor since it's hard enough to book them as it is!

Like the last reviewer, I have meaning to write this for a long time - I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I wanted to give this review the time and thought it deserves! A year ago I decided I had enough of not giving myself (and my HAIR!) the quality and attention it deserves. This came from many years of personal growth and I came to realize I wanted to value myself in a different way, instead of treating myself as second rate (being "never good enough"). To provide just a bit of context - I come from an Asian background, and I grew up in an environment where price overrides all other considerations ... maybe a lot of you out there will be aware of the plethora of $15-$20 haircuts in the Markham/Scarborough region! I did my research and looked at reviews from all the best hair salons in Toronto and I found Salon Solis. I was impressed to see the consistent positive reviews and decided it was worth a shot - that if I was going to value myself, I might as well go for the best! Needless to say, Ernesto and everyone and Salon Solis far was WORTH EVERY PENNY (even when at the time I was a student without an income!). And I have never said that of any place nor written a review of any product or service online before! I walked out of there feeling like a MILLION dollars - a complete STAR. (I had never felt like that before in LIFE!) As for Ernesto - he was kind, and very very professional. He put me at ease right away and I was deeply impressed by what an authentic, genuine, and compassionate person he is! He was talkative and social as well - in the good way! - making me feel at ease, and I truly felt and feel that he has real caring for his clients. His communication was simply stellar! This is probably the most important consideration for us clients - as far as understanding our needs, concerns, and giving us the hair that will make us FEEL and BE our best selves! He had excellent listening skills and great empathy for my "hair difficulties" and was great to work with. And just as, if not equally as important - I have never seen someone with so much talent and understanding of HAIR. He truly has a gift and immense experience. Watching Ernesto cut hair is watching an artist at work. If you want to walk out of your next hair appointment feeling like a SUPERSTAR with STAR treatment and superlative SKILL, I cannot recommend Salon Solis and Ernesto highly enough. I have decided never to go to any other place for as long as they are around! I feel comfort that I can trust them with my hair - so much a part of my identity and self-confidence!

I highly recommend Ida Bernal at Salon Solis -- my hair hasn't looked this good in ages. I googled reviews and decided to try Salon Solis since it was high-rated and close to my office. I got an appointment with Ida and walked out with exactly the cut that I wanted. Ida took the time to look at my hair and do a thorough consultation before we moved on to the wash and cut. She noticed that the ends had been overly thinned out by a poor cut a few years ago, and came up with a plan on how to balance things out so it would look good today and also continue to grow into a nice shape. She really took her time with the cut, from verifying that I was okay with how much she trimmed to discussing options for layers and shape. I was also impressed with the blowdry she did -- it was so smooth and just the right amount of volume with a slight wave. I had been procrastinating on finding a new salon after my stylist left the country, but suddenly woke up last week fed up with my hair's lack of shape and split ends. I have very thick latina hair and am always nervous to try new stylists because I often have had terrible results that make me look like a poufy lampshade. Too often people thin it out too much or (gasp!) use a razor and make me look like I ran into a weed-whacker. Overall I was thrilled with Ida's service. I started the weekend with healthy, bouncy hair, and felt great! The complimentary coffee was nice too. I have now found my new stylist and couldn't recommend her more!

From the moment that I walked into Salon Solis the atmosphere was beautiful and welcoming. The entire staff is amazing and they are especially lucky to have Karen on their team. My hair was mostly my natural light brown colour and I wanted to go very blonde. It is very obvious the wealth of experience that Karen has; we came up with a game plan and will get to my blonde goal the next time I am in. With saying that, my first appointment I absolutely love the way my hair turned out. The colour is blended perfectly and is exactly what I had pictured. I am so so in love! Karen is so genuine and caring she wants you to look and more importantly feel your best, mission accomplished! I was looking for a place with professionals who understand and appreciate that feeling beautiful is not just how you look on the outside, but how you feel on the inside. Salon Solis does all of this, and I am particularly fond of Karen, who has taken the utmost care of my hair since I started going here two years ago. She saved me from a butchered pixie cut (from another establishment), guided me in fixing my incredibly damaged hair, and has continuously made me feel good about myself. She also makes me belly laugh, which doesn't hurt. She is kind, incredibly talented, a great communicator, and an incredibly authentic, hard-working person. On top of this, I'm madly in love with the staff who manage the place. There's an undercurrent of pride and mutual respect amongst the staff at Salon Solis that you don't get from most salons. Honestly, go there. You won't regret it!

Before a new show or a new tour starts, I would go to Ernesto, the highly experienced (and very charming) stylist for a fresh new look. He called me "mentally ill" just because I posted a bad review. Shows what kind of a person he is. :) Original review: I did not like my hairdresser (Micah) at all. My hair is thick and I have had a haircut at home due to covid. Hairdresser kind of insulted of how bad the haircut was. I also felt he was a bit racist as he kept cracking jokes about italians. Initially I thought he was just being friendly but he joked about italians atleast 4 times during my 45min stay stating 'Did an italian cut it or what?' Also, i specifically asked him to do layers, I did not check it then because it was blowdried and looked good. But when i came back home and washed it the next day, there were no layers, he just reduced the density of my hair using sheer scissors! I am not sure if should have conveyed it some other way. I love my hair after a haircut, but this time, kind of hate it. Place was also very hot! No AC. Haircut was also a bit on the expensive side. Won't visit again.

Salon Solis is excellent. It's the only place I'll go to get my hair cut. Ever. I currently live in the UK and I waited 6 months until I came back to Toronto for a visit to get my haircut by Ernesto. He is the consummate professional, so talented, so sweet, generous, nurturing to his employees and has great taste. The first time I visited Salon Solis, I was donating my hair. Not only did Ernesto prep my hair for donation, but he took every care to make sure I was left with an amazing haircut. The bob he gave me was perfect for my face structure, and when it grew out, it wasn't awkward looking. This time, he recommended that he cut my bangs. I normally don't like bangs because of how greasy they can get, but I completely trust Ernesto and allowed him to do it. AND I LOVE THEM. I don't know how he cut them, but they don't get greasy at all and they look amazing. He is gifted. Truly. And, for an OWNER of a salon, he is so reasonably priced. I couldn't recommend Ernesto enough. During my last visit, I also got a complementary session with his in-house make-up artist Dikena. That girl was amazing and the cutest thing in the world. She made me look incredible. I work with make-up artists on a regular basis and Dikena is just as good as some of the best artists in the city. I highly recommend going in to see Dikena before a special night out, even if you're not going to get your haircut. I'm coming back for sure. I couldn't recommend Salon Solis more, and specifically Ernesto and Dikena. Go. You will not be disappointed.

It was my first time colouring my hair and I wasn't sure what I wanted but Marlise took the time to explain to me what's the best option for my hair for both colouring and cutting. I showed her some pictures but I didn't expect get the amazing results that she was able to produce. My hair was very dark and now its got caramel blonde partial highlights that blend flawlessly into the black. It looks so natural but different from my original hair, I'm very happy with the results. She was also nice enough to apply another toner when the first toner turned out lighter than I expected. I got exactly the level of warmth to my hair I wanted with Marlise and Nicole's consultations. The haircut is also amazing, my hair feels lighter, healthier and has more volume than ever before. I stumbled upon this place a year ago and I haven't looked back since. The customer service is outstanding and the atmosphere of this place is positive. Nicole is now dubbed my hair extension guru and I've had her cut my hair several times over the past year. I'm a regular of Nicole and I can honestly say that she is the best stylist I've ever had. I came to her with extremely damaged hair and she's helped me return it to a better state. On top of excellent cutting/styling techniques, Nicole is also able to cut hair extensions extremely well. I've had 3 pairs of hair extensions in the past year and she's never screwed up my extensions. She takes her time to make sure my extensions are blended well with my short hair and provides great recommendations on how to style your hair extensions, what length would be best, etc. Moreover, Nicole also extremely personable. She makes me feel like I'm getting a haircut by a good friend rather than a total stranger. She makes an effort to keep the conversation rolling and makes an honest effort to get to know me-- which I absolutely love! From the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you to Salon Solis, and especially Nicole, for saving my hair and stopping me from making bad decisions to turn my hair to straw. I would highly recommend Nicole to anyone looking for a fabulous haircut with or without extensions.

UPDATE: I reached out to follow up on your reply here, front desk offered a correction cut at your salon which I do not want - I am already in the second round of correction cuts with another stylist and trust me, A LOT OF correction is needed for the horrendous chops I got at Solis. I asked front desk to let me know if the owner has another suggestion for such situations - which I believe you don't cause you never got back to me! I wonder though - why would you charge me $134 for a wash/cut/dry of a shoulder length hair, in a hot & not ventilated corner directly under the sun on the top floor... but well.... that's a lost cause. Conclusion: Adieu. ___________________________________________________ + : Nice staff, clean space, easy access location, quick appointments - : really over priced for a haircut , even though I showed photo of the desired cut (pretty standard pixie) I received such a different & irrelevant cut that is bugging me until it grows back.... Very hot second floor in summer time without proper ventilation. Update after 10 days : the cut is coming out as extremely random and ugly! I'm very disappointed and never coming back. Good luck.

Best salon ever! I'm very picky when it comes to choosing the hair salon, especially after a horrible experience with my previous hairdresser who had been doing my highlights for a couple of years. THE GOOD: Got my hair cut by Nicole back in September 2017 and it was probably one of the best cuts I've ever had – I didn't have to cut it again until recently (and the main reason I didn't come back here for that is because my schedule doesn't coincide well with their hours). Not only did she listen to and give me exactly what I wanted, she is incredibly friendly and personable. THE BAD: Since I'd had such a good experience here previously and I am looking to get my hair coloured, I was perusing the reviews to see if anyone had raved about a particular stylist before I made an appointment. However, as I was scrolling I noticed many of the salon's responses to poor reviews (of which there are only a few!) are quite rude. The lack of professionalism is off-putting to me, and for this reason I've docked a star and will not be returning here.

Ernesto is a God send! I first went to Ernesto when I was fairly new to Toronto. I had hip length hair and needed a change. There are not many people I trust with my hair. In my consultation, Ernesto really wanted to get an understanding of what my needs were so as to do the best job. Although I had initially wanted something else for my styling, Ernesto told me his differing opinion and I agreed that he definitely knew what was best. My hair was dead and drab and Ernesto did an incredible job of totally transforming my hair! I am so thankful. Not only is he talented, he is an incredibly warm person. Not only is Ida the sweetest girl but she is an excellent hairdresser! I'm always hesitant to get my hair cut because it's so fine and straight that many hairdressers layer it too much by accident. However, Ida did a fantastic job. She really listened to what I wanted and stayed very focused throughout the cut. She was also great at checking in with me to explain what she was doing and how it aligned with what I wanted. Unlike other hairdressers in the past, I could tell that she was really assessing my hair and treating it differently than she might with other people's (probably thicker) hair. Salon Solis is a hidden gem in Toronto's jungle. I have a long and thick hair, I used to be so proud of my hair but over the years it has become more and more difficult to maintain it, my hair became flat and frizzy, it lost volume despite all my efforts to make it shiny and give it some life. I've tried different places in Toronto and, every time I need a haircut I would go to a different place hoping to find a solution. When I came to see Ernesto, he listened to my concerns and unlike other stylists, he reassured me that I don't need to cut my hair or make layers at the top to have more volume. It took him about 20 minutes to work on my hair with his magical scissors. Ernesto did an outstanding job.I don't really know what he did but he took weight out of my hair without making it short, like he carved out slivers of hair and lightened up the overall effect. After styling I looked like a Victoria's Secret model and I just couldn't recognize my hair. He also gave me really great tips on how to maintain my hair healthy. I've already gone twice to the salon Solis and will surely go back.

First of all, The head stylist, was extremely judgemental and rude.I asked for a red wine hair color, instead of telling me whether he can or cant do it, he started judging my appearance and my looks and told me, I wouldnt need such a colour because its for fashionable people and not for normal looking people like me(like seriously!how dressed do u expect one to be early saturday morning)! Also, who is he to judge my appearance, when I simply asked for hair color??I should have left in disgust, but I stayed(big mistake).Secondly Marlise, the lady who did my hair was polite and sweet,I asked her for a haircut,which looked decent when I left Salon but discovered a day later, that my bangs were cut unequal in length,(hairstyle messed up).Also,with the hair color,Marlise really put in her best to get the color right on my hair, which I appreciate, But I was shocked to see that the red color faded in one hair wash, (mind you I washed 3 days later with color protect shampoo).Now my hair is this weird brown with orange hints! All of this cost close to $500. In the end I had to redo my haircut to fix the shape,and having to live with brown orange hair for the next few weeks ,until I can find a good colorist to fix it.This experience has been terrible for me.I didn't go back to them to fix this mess,cos I Don't trust them anymore,Also I dont want to deal with a rude head stylist.You decide for yourself,If you'd like to visit this place and spend your money.

Ida was great! I have super thick and super curly natural hair that I've never quite been able to get right. She thinned out all the layers beautifully; just enough that it's thin enough to only need one hair elastic (I used to use 3 to keep it together in a ponytail) but just thick enough that I still get the natural curl I've always loved. I have been to this place a few times over the past couple of years. My first experience was with Marlise and she was great - honestly exceeded my expectations with a cut and color. Post that I visited another stylist just for a haircut and it was ok. This time around after the re-opening post COVID, Marlise was fully booked and she wasn't available on the dates I wanted, so i visited another Senior stylist - thinking that its the same salon and all senior stylists would be of similar level - but i was wrong. I felt very RUSHED (probably something to do with the reopening post COVID) and I am really unhappy with my hair color and it costed me so much. Honestly a word of advice to whoever reading, please do not visit stylists that you haven't heard reviews about. I honestly regret visiting.

I came in and had an appointment with both master stylists with an idea of what I wanted to do. Very welcoming place and all the staff seemed very professional. I did a walk in and asked to just get a style (I have an undercut), and they asked what I'd like, so I said whatever you want as long as there's some volume. I didn't get a haircut but I asked for at least some product. My stylist was very nice and professional. I was going to a meeting and as I was leaving the salon my hair seemed put together and I was happy. However it would seem that whatever product she had put in my hair wasn't strong enough to deal with the 5 minute walk to my building, and my style had fallen apart and also "deflated" is what I would describe it well before I had made it to work. In a panic I had to go to the Bloor station mall and ask someone for a smidge of product just to hold my hair together. I paid roughly $25 and ended up fixing it myself. I don't live in the area so I don't see myself coming back.

For the past two years, I have been searching for a good hair salon/stylist, as I have thick, fuzzy, and very curly hair. I went to several salons in Toronto and spent a lot of money, but no one could cut a descent hair. When I left their salons, it felt like I did not have a haircut. I was not confident about my hair and I felt very bad about it because I work in a healthcare setting and need to ensure that my hair is properly shaped. In reading all the fabulous reviews online, I decided to go to Salon Solis. I saw a great hairstyle on Solis’ website done by Ernesto. So, I decided to schedule an appointment with Ernesto. When Ernesto saw me, I had a very good consultation and showed him a photo that I wanted to get it done like that, but he gave me a more beautiful/professional haircut and shape and I am so grateful. It is very rare to find a hairstylist to be able to cut a dry hair – it requires a lot of expertise and Ernesto definitely has it all… In my opinion, it takes a lot of expertise and experience. Although, I was somewhat nervous but I was indeed extremely pleased with the end result of my haircut and style, it made me look very professional and not to mention very young look. Thank you Ernesto for an excellent job! Although, I was a bit nervous, but Ernesto confidently and expertly explained on how best I should have my haircut done (based on the shape of my face/style, etc.). I couldn't believe the result! I LOVED IT! I received so many compliments not only from my friends, colleagues, family members but also from strangers! I finally find my look and my confidence! It is worth every penny! I had been dying my hair black for 12 years and Leena came up with a plan to reduce the amount of damage while also delivering effective results. Finally!!!!! Someone who can deal with fine, poker straight hair without complaining about what a challenge it is, and giving me the kind of cut that makes me think he was born to deal with difficult hair like mine. After about 18 years of salon-hopping since moving Toronto, I have finally found my resting place. Ernesto gave me a fabulous cut, perfect for me, easy for me to deal with and grows out beautifully. Dino transformed me with some really bold highlights - he told me to trust him and he was right! And not only do they both do great work, but they are fun to talk to - had some really good laughs while I was there. Update: I wanted to update this with a review for Dino for hair colour as well. I went to Dino for a first ever hair colour consultation appointment earlier this year - he made me feel comfortable right off the bat. I have black thick hair and my biggest concern was hair turning orange, damaged, and streaky. Needless to say, he did an amazing job and got a nice gold colour with minimal highlights to get me comfortable with the process of colouring my hair. Even after 5 months, the hair looks great - I can't say enough good things about this duo! If you're in Toronto, you have to try these two out!! I've been going to Ernesto for the past 4 years. Ernesto is truly wonderful - not only is he a pleasure to be around but, more importantly, he is the most talented hairdresser I have ever experienced. I came in to him to fix my hair after receiving a less than stellar haircut and he made my hair look gorgeous! I have super straight, somewhat fine black hair and he gave me volume and dimension. Not only that but after washing my hair, I was pleased to find that it settled beautifully after I just applied a little bit of volumizing spray at the roots and blowdried it, no styling required. I was really excited to try this place out when I saw all the positive reviews online and when I went in I wasn't disappointed. Staff are very friendly soon as I walked in I was acknowledged right away, asked if there was anything I would like to drink. The stylist that helped me was Kayla and she was great. She started examining my hair as I told her a little bit about it and how I style it. Showed a few photos of what I wanted, she listened offered her viewpoints and started getting to work. To be honest I've only ever been getting my haircut at the same place for years at China town for 12 bucks. So for me the price jump was pretty big but honestly it was completely worth it if not a great value for the cut I got. The time she spent on my sides and back to get it exactly right was longer than how long it would usually take for my whole haircut. Great attention to detail constantly checking with me if this looked okay or if she can do this. After a while I just let her do her thing and I'm glad I did. Really happy with my haircut, Kayla gave me a few tips on how to style my hair, blow dry my hair properly and brush it back etc. Would recommend Kayla and the salon to anyone looking for an amazing haircut. Really glad I came definitely coming back.

The salon is cosy and elegant, but also unpretentious. Micah was kind and unassuming, and gave me a fantastic haircut after which my hair looks 10x nicer and healthier. She gave me advice on what I could and could not do with my hair type (very thick hair) and then spent about an hour thinning and shaping it. This was definitely my best experience at a hair salon. Everyone in there was extremely friendly and kind and made you feel right at home. I came in with natural virgin hair that hadn't been dyed for years and asked to have my hair dyed a bright purple colour. Marlise is fantastic with colour! After bleaching my hair and then putting the purple on top, my hair is still in great condition and is extremely soft. Marlise also cut and styled my hair and I left feeling refreshed and extremely happy with my decision. She is an absolutely wonderful hair stylist and I highly recommend everyone to book an appointment with her as she genuinely cares about the quality of a job that she does and how you feel going into it, during the process, and when it is complete. I had my first Solis experience this past Tuesday. I had made an appointment day of for Kayla and was easily put in for later that day. As soon as I got there I was offered a water, cappuccino, latte, etc. I then met Kayla and she was very sweet. She asked me what my goal was with my hair and what was the style I wanted to achieve. I told her that I wanted just healthy hair while still keeping my long length, and gave her some creative freedom. I had come in with what she described as thin, dry hair with breakage, and she gave me some great tips to revive it. She explained to me her technique for the actual cut, which made my hair even and allowed it to have a "flow" so that I can wear it unstyled. She actually got rid of a lot of damage and dryness, my exact request. Most salons just style your hair without actually cutting it properly (uneven, choppy, etc.) in order to conceal their poor cuts. Kayla listened and showed her knowledge of hair in order to get mine into a place I am finally happy with. I believe I have found my new salon! Friendly, knowledgeable, and not expensive at all for the expertise. I will be visiting Kayla again! P.S For people driving: it was a bit of a tough spot to get to, considering it was downtown. Parking was quite full, so I will take the subway next time :)

My first time at Salon Solis, and overall, it was amazing! From the moment I entered to when I exited, the staff were so welcoming and kind. (Their green tea is really great too). I had my haircut by Karen, who is beautiful inside and out. She took the time to consult with me about what style is best for my kind of hair and would work with my face shape. She even taught me some techniques for how to add volume, which I am definitely very appreciative of and will be using at home. I loved how she approached cutting my hair and making sure I was happy every step of the way. I 100% recommend Karen for anyone's haircut. Her skill and eye for what is stylish is admirable. As I was leaving, I wanted to get a picture of my hair and Nicole so patiently and graciously helped me with that and found a nice spot with good lighting to take the photo. See? We all have our hair neuroses and mine are fine, flyaway, and prematurely white hair. I would have been tempted to give up, shave it off or wear hats for the rest of my life. Well, I have been cured! No body is aware of my hair issues because it looks that good, thanks to Dino and Ernesto. I am the type of person that is willing to pay for quality and have forked over a significant amount of money to hair salons over the years and quite often have left feeling dissatisfied with the results. I do not have that issue any longer, it is not as expensive as other salons and the results are great. They also provide some free counselling while you are in the chair! Cannot go wrong. I recently got my hair coloured at salon solis by Dino and my expectations were blown out the window. This being my first time colouring my hair I was extremely nervous and did a whole bunch of research...I couldn't find a single negative review for this salon and I can certainly see why! When I got there all of the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming and made me feel very comfortable, when it came time for my consult with Dino I informed him of the drastic change I wanted done to my hair (going from a natural blonde to a platinum ash coloured blonde) he was completely honest with me and did inform me of the risk but told me he was willing to go for it if I was, so I went for it! The outcome was just unreal! Throughout the process I was very nervous, the hair was bleached twice before putting the ash into it but when it came time to see the result I was so happy with it I literally shrieked, it nearly brought tears to my eyes! The next thing I was worried about was the fact that my hair would be completely dead and feel like straw, but Dino informed me keeping it well conditioned would prevent that from happening, he also recommended a conditioning mask for my hair to keep it conditioned and it's been working fabulously. This has by far been the best experience I've received with any salon and very worth the cost!!! I would absolutely recommend this salon to anyone and everyone. I will definitely be returning soon to keep up with the colour! The salon and its staff are amazing!!!! Thank you guys so much! :)

I have been frequenting Salon Solis since it’s opening, and in fact have been getting my hair cut by Ernesto for well over 20 years. Ernesto truly has a special kind of magic and once you he cuts your hair you will not want to go anywhere else. There were a few occasions when I ventured out and tried another salon (mainly because I moved to Montreal), however each time I ended up back at Ernesto asking him to perform his usual magic. So even when living in Montreal I returned to TO and to the gang at Salon Solis when it was time for a haircut. I’d also like to give a shout out to Dino for colour. He really creates a “plan” for your hair - what to do what time of year….he looks ahead and in the spring will tell you what he thinks you should do now, and what his plans will be to transition your hair to winter. Everyone at this salon is friendly and professional. The decor is stunning - love the brick wall and the artwork. This is the ONLY place to go to get your hair done in my opinion - particularly if your hair has a mind of it’s own (mine is long and naturally curly), or you are really picky, like me :) I recommend Salon Solis to all of my good friends, and I'm pretty careful with my recommendations - in this case I have 100% confidence they will be happy. I always leave this salon with a bounce in my step…feeling just a few years younger :)

I called in this past Friday with a hair emergency and they happened to have a cancelation and squeezed me in same day. When I say hair emergency, I mean poorly done at home blonde. There was banding, unevenness, many different levels of color, hot roots, fried ends, so much yellow, you name it. I gave the colorist and stylist one example each of the color and cut I was looking for and without hesitation they went to work. They made sure before I started that I knew pricing for the correction and cut, gave me realistic expectations about what to expect, and I got exactly what I was looking for. They gave me info about taking care of my blonde and making sure my hair was in the best shape possible for continuing health and growth. They were honest with me about upkeep on the color I asked for so that my blonde will stay fresh and beautiful, and made sure to let me know about where we could go with the cut for the future and how they would keep looking after me. I felt so taken care of from the second I walked in the door. The whole team was so friendly and sweet. It was one of the best salon experiences I have ever had and I can't wait to go back. I'm disappointed to say that my experience at the salon was not the greatest. The staff was very nice but i am not happy with the way my hair turned out. I didn't realize how brassy and ashy the color of the hair was until other people pointed it out and said "we don't even know what color your hair is, its just weird". The color that I wanted was far from the one I recieved. I booked an appointment in a local salon and I am getting it fixed this week!!!!!

I found this salon through a web search and looking at previous reviews, randomly booked an appointment and was given Micah for my stylist. I have long very very straight hair which is surprisingly difficult to cut but Micah is brilliant (apparently I have hair similar to his sisters!) I usually find it really hard to get a good haircut, but I got lucky finding Solis and have been back several times now. The other staff are also very helpful, and I always hear friendly conversations going on between clients and stylists. I would recommend the salon to anyone - believe the reviews - they are worth their 5 stars!

Within the span of 20 minutes, Ernesto transformed my hair from lifeless and choppy to perfectly shaped and light. I have been to this salon a couple times and have always had a great experience. Micha did my hair each of the times I came in, he is truly fantastic at what he does. I am extremely picky of a person when it comes to my hair and hard to please and he has never let me down ! Today I came into solis after having a major hair emergency of bleached, damaged, breaking off hair from another salon. From the moment I came in everyone was highly concerned about the condition of my hair and what route to go with it, everyone was super helpful. Karen colored my hair today and Ernesto did the cut. All I can say is WOW ! I was in tears of joy. They brought my hair back to life after all the damage of bleaching and chemical burns !!! Ernesto and Dino are truly masters at what they do. I have know them for well over 20 years and while it's a good 3 hour round trip now, they are my go to when I'm frustrated with my hair or feeling like I need a change. I like that they ask you what you want to do but I almost always go with their vision and I've never been disappointed. They are honest and will tell you what will or will not work with your hair type, face shape, skin tone etc. You will always get a cut and colour tailored specifically to you and you will walk out feeling fantastic. Had my hair trimmed and coloured by Karen on Thursday. Fabulous experience - she listened to me, made good suggestions, worked well with my mainly grey, curly and unruly hair. As an aging woman, I've been concerned about the fact that as I get "greyer", my thick, curly hair is changing texture and has some trouble acquiring colour properly. It was a really good experience. Stephanie is also a lovely person, she is very warm and down to earth, and it’s always a pleasure to see her. I can always relax and know I'm in good hands. Throughout my life I’ve kind of dreaded getting my hair cut, but the overall experience at Salon Solis is excellent. The color is always spot on, and she really takes the time to listen to me and what I want and I always leave feeling beautiful and heard. From balayage to warm chocolate brown hues, Nicole has taken me through the entire color wheel and still somehow helped me heal my split ends. The entire team is welcoming, warm, and professional. I have very fine hair and square face...not an easy combination to work with. That's why for many years I was told I must keep my hair layered and long enough to "soften" my look. Ernesto is the only stylist I have met to suggest a bolder, shorter style with lighter coloring. AND HE IS RIGHT! It's not fair.. I have given 10 times instructions. Your expert should listen to customer.. I even showed pictures of how I want it , why I want it.. I told 10 times I want triangle.. that's a basic of bang cutting.. and then offering not to pay for the service didn't do any justice.. frustration i have gone through and I will go through can't be compensated anyways . Before walking into salon I was looking beautiful and and just after 10 mins.. stupidest , weirdest look I got . If your stylist are not capable of doing some job.. you should skip the service.. telling customer I understood what u want and cutting own way is not right. Compensation must come from you I shouldn't even have to ask.. I will never forgive myself for entering into this salon.

I had my first appointment at Solis today. The staff were incredibly friendly right from the start. Ida cut my hair and did an amazing job, taking time to make sure I got the cut I wanted. One of the owner/managers Ernesto also took time to add a personal touch to my cut and make sure I was satisfied with the end result. I was very impressed with the whole experience. I'm extremely hurt with my experience at Salon Solis. The head stylist, was rude and disrespectful. I asked for a red wine hair color, instead of telling me whether he can or cant do it, he started judging my appearance and my looks and told me, I wouldn't need such a color because its for fashionable people and not for normal looking people like me(how dressed do u expect one to be early Saturday morning)! I should have left , but I stayed(big mistake).Secondly Marlise, the lady who did my hair was polite and sweet, I asked her for a haircut, which looked decent when I left Salon but discovered a day later, that my bangs were cut unequal in length,(hairstyle messed up).Also, with the hair color, Marlise really put in her best to get the color right on my hair, which I appreciate, But I was shocked to see that the red color faded in one hair wash, (mind you I washed 3 days later with color protect shampoo).Now my hair is this weird brown with orange hints! All of this cost close to $500. In the end I had to redo my haircut to fix the shape, and having to live with brown orange hair for the next few weeks ,until I can find a good colorist to fix it. This experience has been terrible for me. I didn't go back to them to fix this,cos I Don't trust them anymore ,Also I don't want to deal with a disrespectful head stylist.

Finally found a good hair dresser after two decades in Toronto! Farshad cut my hair and gave me exactly what I wanted and better. Had a terrible haircut from an average salon in Dubai. Have tried food places here and in Dubai but never been satisfied. My hair was badly cut and he blended my layers and gave me a bounce from the top and reduced the heaviness from the bottom. My hairs wavy so tricky but I walked out happy. The staff was very friendly too as was Farshad. Highly recommend.

I am not easy when it comes to my hair, I am fussy and very anxious. So I went for a consultation first to Solis and had my appointment with Bettina. But I could not make up my mind on what exactly to get done and went again to discuss my options. For both the times Bettina was super friendly, patient and interested in what my doubts are, she was very good with understanding my hair type and limitations. I had called and ask to make a hair apt with their best men's stylist. They paired me with someone, who I found out in the middle of the cut, had only been there for less than 1 month. I asked for a great fade on the sides with 1 inch cut off the top. Received a horrible fade with 3 inches cut from the top. Maybe would have received what I was looking for if they had paired me with someone who truly was their best. Had gone to them due to my hairstylist of 6 years quitting hairstyling. Would have given them lots of business. But, will never be going back there. Update: the last name I gave at the salon is my legal last name which does not match here. I would assume that is why I got a call from the salon two days later in which I didn't answer. I don't think calling the salon back will change what has already happened/change my experience of the salon.

I used to think there are certain style that I’ll never be able to wear given past experiences, but he’s completely changed my opinion. The salon is also very clean and staff are nice. Ernesto is one of the best hair dressers ever. I have too much hair and he always provides a wonderful haircut which not easy to do for such a hair. Each visit is a pleasure. Treatments are professional, efficient, relaxing and enjoyable. I highly recommend him to everybody.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Before I talk about my hair I want to mention how great the customer service at this salon is! As soon as I came in I was greeted kindly and with a smile. Someone took my coat for me and asked if I wanted tea or water. COLOUR RESULTS: I had previously gone to another salon to get my hair dyed blonde and it turned out organge... I looked up salon solis and found Nicole who does a lot of girls hair blonde. I looked her up on Instagram and liked her work so I got my hair dyed blonde by her. My hair isn't finished I have to do another session (because I want to go platinum blonde and need two sessions for that) but it's already such an improvement! It's amazing light blonde and i really like the outcome so far. It's all one colour now and isn't blotchy with orangy colour throughout my hair. Just blonde :) I'm happy and reccomend going to salon solis!

I showed up five minutes early and my hairdresser was still coloring the girls hair before me. I had to wait about 30ish minutes and was basically ignored the whole time. In the end the hair cut wasn't bad but no one has even noticed and it cost me 90$. She never showed me how the back looked and made me feel bad about taking her time. I didn't even get a slight discount or anything extra for being made to wait so long. Safe to say I won't be going back but they will be fine. The atmosphere is nice but the staff need to learn to deal with problems effectively.

She is extremely knowledgeable in her profession, and offers her honest advice on what she thinks would look best for me. I completely trust her judgement and skill, as she is so detail-oriented and will not let you leave without making you look your best. Marlise makes sure to cover all details and expectations during her consultations and always makes you feel like you are in good hands. I now come to her and tell her to do whatever she'd like with my hair, and I leave feeling my best. My hair has never looked better, and I owe it all to Marlise!!

Sophia completed transformed my hair - the colour was beautiful. I came back to Sophia again for another colour and cut in August and it is the best cut and colour I've ever had. I struggled to find a stylist in Toronto to maintain my blonde hair and keep it healthy after moving here but thankfully found Karen. She came highly recommended from a friend and I was not disappointed. Karen is super attentive and is always able to achieve exactly what I want with my hair. My hair has also been able to bounce back from previous stylists overbleaching and breaking while still staying super blonde. I began going there after running into someone I use to work with (Thanks). She recommended Solis after I vented about my brunette thin curly locks. After a couple of visits, I know have amazing blonde highlights courtesy of Dino. Ernesto always gives me advice and a style that's manageable for both curly and straight hair. I wasn't able to find that at other salons, more so, my hair isn't dried out and actually looks healthier. Nicole does my hair and at this point, I just trust her to do whatever she thinks is best. :) She definitely knows what she is doing, and is very talented. I recently went to Salon Solis for the first time and had my hair cut and coloured by Marlise. I absolutely love the atmosphere and décor of the salon, very friendly and welcoming staff! Marlise was amazing! Salon Solis has been clearly the best salon in Toronto and area. I have started going there over 10 years ago then I moved further away from downtown so I have tried different salons for a few years. No one could ever give me the hair experience that Dino and Ernesto have provided. I was dealing with lots of frustration and decided to go back to Solis even though I still live far away from the salon. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Based on my experience there are no better masters in the hair industry than these guys. Came here to get my hair cut and dyed, must say it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Staff are all incredibly friendly and easy to talk to. I was incredibly fortunate to have Leena as my stylist, and it could not have been a better match. I have medium-curly hair and I asked for it to be cut short (which many stylists are afraid to do because of my hair texture). Leena did it without any hesitation, and within literally a few minutes I was given exactly the cut that I wanted. I came in originally with the intention to get a violet balayage, but Leena suggested more vibrant colours and a colouring job better suited to short hair, and I left with a full head of pink, blue, and purple, a unicorn-meets-Galaxy hair colour. Her blending and colouring job was absolutely fantastic. I could not have asked for better and it needless to say beats the original idea I had in mind :) Two weeks later and the colour is still incredibly vibrant, I adore the cut, and I'm still getting compliments on both. I'm so lucky to have had Leena as my stylist! Can definitely see why this salon is so renowned, and definitely recommend!

Dear Readers, I visited this salon yesterday for the first time and I was very impressed. I had the same hair dresser for 20 years until sadly he passed away about five years ago. There aren't too many things that stress me out but finding a new hair salon that I'm happy with has been very challenging!! I used to sit down with my old stylist and never had to say anything except "same old". I have long medium thick hair and over the past four years I've tried two other salons, from thinning my hair out to getting home and washing it because there's way too much product, to hating the final blow-dry (last impression), I have finally found my home again! Ernesto is a magician with scissors, I have found my new gem!! Everyone in there was very pleasant and inviting and it was an awesome space inside with a patio out back. Very cool place. Saturday was my first time trying this salon, and Farshad gave me a haircut and I'm beyond happy with my hair. I'm a very difficult person when it comes to my hair and that is mostly because I have a LOT of thick hair, so it's very hard for me to style it. I also hate layered haircuts. I communicated all of this to Farshad and he took a lot of the bulk of my hair out without making layers, and maintained the length. This morning I washed and blow dried it in less that 40 minutes. My hair looks and feels great. I will be back!

Went for my first visit at Solis today. In a nut shell - I was blown away! Never EVER did I have as good of an experience in any of the hair salons before. I booked with Ernesto after reading the reviews here - and he is what was missing from my life all this time! A master at his best. I have long straight hair that I never thought much of (or had a time to what with new born twins!) Ernesto transformed me into a whole new woman. All I want to do now is sit and flip my hair in a Victoria Secret fashion, back and forth:) Ernesto, if you are reading this - THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! Salon Solis doesn't deserve a bad review, but Mika certainly does. One of their most senior stylists is too eager to chop off hair. I went in with a photograph of myself with the exact hair style I wanted from my last cut, and he managed to mess it up. It's so short he may as well have taken a barber's razer to it. That and the fact that I had to fight him every step of the way to make sure he DIDNT cut it too short, makes me pretty confused towards his attitude as a professional hairstylist because NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO FIGHT THEIR HAIRSTYLIST FOR WHAT THEY WANT. Not only was my visit a waste of $120 dollars but also a waste of the perm I had BECAUSE HE MANAGED TO CHOP IT OFF. Hundreds of dollars is now on the floor surrounding Mika's chair. I came in hoping for a symmetrical cut, but seeing how short he chopped off the one side DESPITE THE PHOTOGRAPH I SHOWED HIM, I had to leave with asymmetrical hair. I will now be covering up the short side with my bangs until it can grow out.

I found Solis Salon on google and I thought that there must be a reason for the 5 star rating. It turned out I was right, they deserve it.! The atmosphere is wonderful and easy going, everyone is extremely friendly and cheerful. They gave me the impression that they like being there and they most definitely enjoy their jobs. Of course the main reason I loved the whole experience was Ernesto. I liked that he gave me options and then let me decide what I wanted but I also liked the fact that he took initiative and was very thorough. He took his time and didn't rush which I truly appreciated. He was talkative and pleasant. I was there for an hour and I came out a new person! I had the pleasure of booking an appointment with Ernesto for a haircut after he came highly recommended by a very good friend of mine. I was hesitant to try a new stylist as I had been going to my stylist for a number of years and I am not good with change. I also in the past have not had the greatest experience with hairstylists and I did not want to be disappointed. I have to say that after my appointment with Ernesto I was far from being disappointed and was so pleasantly surprised. He took the time to analyze my hair, listened to my feedback, and together we came up with an agreed upon cut and style that at the end I was so happy with! Update: The front desk staff, as well as the owner were prompt in correcting the situation, and offering a resolution that I was comfortable with. The response was quick, and the quality of the customer service is appreciated. ________________________________________________________________________ I'm completely unsure why this salon has such high ratings. They charge a premium price for a terrible experience. I asked for a simple cut, and got an uneven, choppy outcome. I specified the technique that I did NOT want when getting my haircut, and yet that was the technique used to cut my hair, creating a low-quality outcome. Paying 110+ for a cut here is an absolute joke. Hair stylist was not wearing their mask properly (keeping their nose exposed), even after I had requested it be put up. If you cannot offer a decent experience, do not charge a premium price. This was the worst cut I've had in many years in the city. I truly do not recommend.

I came to Canada several years ago, but I couldn't find my hair stylist. I have thick, fuzzy, and curly hair. I went to several salons, spent lots of money, did many different treatments and haircuts but none of them have worked for me! I was not confident about my hair and I felt very bad about it because I am a student and I didn't have time to blow dry and style my hair every day. I saw a great hair stylist (Ernesto), when he saw me the first thing that he said was: "I see what's going on! go short! go very short!" It was a very difficult decision for me since I have curly hair and it takes a long time for my hair to grow back. But he confidently and expertly explained why I should cut my hair short (based on the shape of my face, etc.). So, I booked an appointment with Micah, he was expert and brave enough to cut my curly hair very short. I couldn't believe the result! I LOVED IT! I received so many compliments not only from my friends but from strangers! I finally find my look and my confidence! It worth every penny! My hair was in horrible condition when I first came here from highlights and over bleaching with my previous salon stylists. I have been holding out until I can come back to the city to get a haircut from him because I walk away happy ever single time and he cuts your hair so it grows in gorgeously. In a pandemic this is key, as person who has fast growing hair in a pandemic, this is critical. I first started seeing Ernesto after a terrible cut from another Yorkville salon over 10 years ago. I found her in the Niagara Region a few years ago and have never looked back, she moved to Toronto and I just had to follow her because she's absolutely 100% worth it. I’ve been a customer of Salon Solis for over 6 years now and was truly disappointed in my last visit. My hairstylist left the salon and so I booked with a new stylist and at the visit was sent to a different stylist without asking me if I would be ok with it. I tried to be understanding as salons have just opened up but on top of that, I was charged for the cost of the different stylist which was higher than what I was told over the phone while booking. My haircut also felt rushed at the end of the day. I am really disappointed in the quality and customer service that I received and on the fence of whether I will return again.

I have lived in Toronto now for more than fifteen years and finally found the perfect salon. My family is all in Montreal and kind of use the excuse to visit them so I could see my hairdresser over there. The problem is that it was getting fairly expensive and to often had to endure black roots (not a really blond)! Dino really knows and understand blonds. My hair color has never been so good. Better than my salon in Montreal. Surprisingly for this 5 stars salon, the price is vey reasonable and the atmosphere is so not pretentious. Love it love it. I never post a review but I genuinely have to acknowledge the work of Micah in Salon Solis. Micah truly performs miracles! I had a really horrible color/ balayage done in another salon and my hair felt it in the worst condition. It was so upsetting right before a big trip. Micah totally turned my hair around it went from horrible mat brown greenish color to a beautiful blonde with caramel tones. He actually accomplished what I was trying to achieve from the original balayage request I had in the other salon. Can you believe it?!! Superb. He did it all so professional and fast while also with minimal damage. I really cannot speak more highly of him. I've lived in Toronto my whole life, and have tried a lot of salons in the city, but Salon Solis is my new go to. I saw Dino for a full colour and highlights right before Ontario went into lockdown, and despite not maintaining my colour during quarantine, it lasted beautifully and I was still getting compliments on it nearly 8 months after the initial appointment. I've just been back again and Dino was able to lift my warm auburn to a soft, cool champagne blonde that looks absolutely amazing. I see Shy for haircuts and twice now I've received a cut that not only looks great fresh out of the salon, but one that grows out beautifully and still looks fantastic months later. Booking appointments has also been easy and super accommodating. Jamie is always sweet, professional and patient when managing booking and clients. Staff here are talented, open and honest. I highly recommend Salon Solis, and can't wait for my next appointment.

I highly recommend this salon! After having an bad experience else where (having my hair died orange instead of blonde) I left it alone for a few months and lived with the terrible colour... Finally I got the courage to search around to find a new salon/hair dresser. I went in for a consultation with Karen (a blonde specialist) she was so friendly and informative on how to fix my hair and get it back to where I would be happy again. This is a long overdue review. I had first come here sometime last October with my boyfriend and I had seen Sophia. Right off the bat when we walked in, everyone was extremely nice and welcoming, they even offered us drinks. We didn't wait long at all either. With regards to my experience, I can't even begin to describe how much she's change my relationship with my hair. I am mixed ethnically which has given me not only thick hair, but way too much of it. Sophia introduced me to the idea of taking weight out of my wild hair and how to take care of my hair type as well as style it. This has been a game changer for me as my hair seems completely different honestly. I'm forever thankful for everything this Salon has provided me with and I'll only ever come to Salon Solis!

I waited for my second visit to write this review. I went for my post Covid hair do. I went to see Dino and he explained it would take a few appointments for him to adjust my hair color. WOW!! what a true professional. not only did he fix my color but he really knows how to make you feel comfortable and really takes the time to explain the process. I highly highly recommend Sophia for Asian balayage/highlight. She's not only a good hair stylist, she is just such a lovely person inside and out. Sophia is amazing! I highly recommended her! I had my hair done with her today and she did a fabulous job. I went in feeling kinda blah since I had been growing out a bad haircut from another salon for 6 months. She transformed my hair suggesting some highlights which really changed my look for the better. She fixed the bad choppy layers I had and blended them in for an overall great look. First time at Salon Solis, I had my long hair cut by Ernesto into an angled bob, he did a fabulous job! The environment was professional, warm and inviting. Shout out to Jen, one of the girls behind the reception desk, she was awesome to talk to while washing my hair. Overall my experience and results was worth the money, this salon has gained another returning client! I have been coming to this place for ages. I used to get my highlights with Karen until she moved away. I recently had my first appointment with Shaira, she was extremely fun and nice despite we both had to wear a face mask. When I saw my hair at first I wasn’t convinced it was as light as I was expecting. However, she told me to give it a couple of days for the toner to wash out and if I wasn’t convinced I was welcomed to come back so she could fix it. She was super understanding about the way I felt. However, I waited as she said and after a few days my hair colour looked awesome. Definitely one of the best places in Toronto and with extremely reasonable prices.

Today, I had my first experience for beauty salon in Toronto. I used to color my hair because I couldn’t trust easily. But I should confess Marlise was wonderful. She did the perfect job as I wanted. I came in with pretty gross hair but Dino completely changed that, he was so nice about it and really patient when answering my questions and explaining how he would colour my hair. I ended up with a gorgeous golden-bronze balayage exactly like the picture I showed him, and I'm so happy with how it turned out. Excellent results & fantastic experience. This was my first time here, and I had an amazing experience from the moment I walked in the door. I was greeted immediately by such friendly & warm staff. They have a full out, proper espresso bar (this is KEY when you are spending 3-5 hours in a salon). Dino did my hair, we went BLONDE-blonde and he was able to not only achieve incredible results (for one session) with minimal damage, he gave me the results of 2-3 sessions in one sitting. I love how my hair came out and I loved the experience. I even left with some Olaplex products that were a better price than my beauty supply plug. I would especially recommend Salon Solis to hair beginners who are nervous and don't know how to explain exactly what they want, because Dino & his team will know for you.

SUCH A LONG OVERDUE REVIEW - but it's been 2 and a half months since I came in for a full head of highlights and I still get compliments on my hair regularly. It was my first appointment at the salon and I felt so welcomed by everybody! Dino took care of me and cleaned up my blonde that needed work after being in hiding during the first few months of Covid, and WOW! I am so impressed by my entire experience. I haven't been able to find a salon in Toronto that I love since moving here, and now I refuse to go elsewhere. There's a reason why people keep coming back! I would recommend to all. 10/10.

They have superb and awesome hairstylists whom you can trust blindly. I had so tangled hair that almost I gave up but the hairstylist Bettina, she just nailed it. This was my first time coming to Solis. I have a lot to say. I got my hair done by Stephanie. I explained to her what I was looking for and she amazed me of how she perfected the look I wanted. Stephanie is very friendly, honest with suggestions and answered any questions or concerns I had. She was very fun to be with and gave the best scalp massage when washing my hair! I highly recommend Stephanie (especially for bangs. from my experience it went amazing). I was very nervous about getting bangs and thought I would regret it but she turned that around. Not only was Stephanie great but the staff and atmosphere of the salon was too! The staff was very friendly and offer drinks (water, tea, coffee. Etc.) with no extra cost which was a bonus ! They also take your coat or sweater and hang it up for you. I can't wait to go back ! I would defiantly recommend people to this salon and I recommend them to get a cut from Stephanie !

I have been getting my hair cut by Ernesto at Salon Solis for a number of years and absolutely would not go anywhere else. I've got curly hair, and Ernesto has seen me through a number of fantastic styles over the years, ranging from mid-length curly to my current super-short. No matter what style I've had, I always look and feel my best and consistently get compliments on my hair - including being stopped on the street or in shops a number of times by strangers asking who does my hair. In terms of price range, it is practically a steal. Those who claim that the salon prices are high have obviously not been to a salon in any big city of the world, where you'll pay twice as much for a cut of the same caliber. It's not just Ernesto either: from the phone call to make my appointment, to the friendly and attentive service I receive when I arrive at the salon, to my hair wash and a perfect espresso, Ernesto and his team provide a top notch salon experience, which I look forward to a number of times a year. UPDATE from 02/15/15: This is a much overdue second review for my second experience at Salon Solis. Once again, Dino did my hair. My hair is naturally light red/strawberry blonde, but I had dyed it dark red a few years back and had been bleaching it at home with sketchy Frost and Glow. Dino had done some wonderful blonde streaks in my hair about 7 months backs, but I was still stuck with the nasty orange shades near the ends of my hair due to my poor-decision to try and bleach my hair my myself. ANYWAY, when I went to Dino, this time, it was to hopefully have my whole hair dyed back to my natural light-red colour. I was really sceptical that this could be done, because it is pretty difficult to replicate natural shades of red. However, I was AGAIN completely surprised by Dino's work, again. He took my uneven coloured hair and made it an amazing shade of red, that, after a few weeks, adjusted completely to my natural colour. You can hardly tell the difference from where my natural roots, and the coloured parts begin and end. Dino is extremely talented, and his salon has great customer service. I am just about to book my next appointment!! ORIGINAL REVIEW: 09/14 I will never go to another salon in Toronto, ever, ever, again. I'm a 30 year-old female who moved here 2 years ago. I have never had great experiences with colouring at salons (I've been to at least half-a-dozen reputable salons in Toronto and all yielded over-priced, mediocre results). I found Salon Solis through Google and decided to make an appointment---I admit that despite the glowing reviews on google, I no longer got my hopes up about salon experiences. Dino Tolentino cut and coloured my hair and I have never had a better experience in my life. Not only was he extremely professional and emitted expertise, he was friendly and completely unpretentious (I hate going to places with people like that). He has a intuitive understanding of what works best for a person's hair-type, body-type, skin-colouring, etc., BUT he also has an awesome intuitive sense of someone's *personal* style. He cut and highlighted my hair in under two hours (in my experience, that is short!) and also taught me a low-maintenance way to style my hair without damaging it, which leaves it looking AMAZING. Dino seriously changed my hair and made me feel genuinely more confident about how I look. I will be going back to Salon Solis and Dino for years. I will be recommending everyone I know to go and visit Salon Solis. Thank you, Dino!!

This is my second time coming to Ida at Solon Solis. Both times I have been so amazed with how my hair turned out. Ida is by far the best hairdresser I have ever gone to. Before even washing your hair she examines it and tells you the best options for your hair texture and length. Ida is so precise and meticulous; she truly takes her time and makes sure your hair is exactly to your liking. It is obvious she is passionate and very skilled in what she does. Ernesto is a master cutter. I travel all the way from Brampton and fight the traffic just to get my hair done by Ernesto...why...because he makes me look and feel like a movie star every time he cuts my hair... The first time I went to him I had long hair and I wanted a change... something short but I didn’t know what. He studied my face for a few minutes, and then his lightning fast hands ( I call him Edward Scissor Hands) went to work, and cut fast and furious... and when I finally trusted myself to open my eyes... I was thrilled and amazed. My new cut was so cool, sassy, and hip... I felt like a million bucks... confident, beautiful, and ready to conquer the world. I went to Solis because it got such great reviews on the internet and I chose to have Ida cut my hair. She also got great reviews. Biggest mistake I've made in a long time. To make sure she would understand what haircut I wanted, I brought in a photo of the style. It was a soft looking medium length cut with layers - sort of a shag cut. She looked at it and said, yes she can do that. When she finished the cut, I had a weird bowl type cut with some at layers at the bottom and heavy set fringe half way up my forehead (which I expressly told her not to do!). I was in shock and couldn't say anything. The confused looks I got from people on the street after confirmed that it wasn't just my imagination that it was a horrible cut. Now my hair is too short for me to go somewhere else to get it fixed. It'll take months to grow this horrible hair cut out. I will never go back to this salon. edit* Dear Solis, I booked the appointment under the name of Suzanne. Thank you for your offer to talk but I will have to respectfully decline. What's done is done. All I can do now is wait for this to grow out over the winter.

I went there for doing balayage and a hair cut. They burned my hair by over bleaching it and charged a lot of money. I asked for a darker shade, showed them a reference picture and the at the end it was exactly opposite to what I asked for. I think she was in a hurry to go home, so she asked me to go home an see how I feel and I can come back if I want a darker shade. I didn’t like the colour and I booked another appointment. They made it little darker next time and I came home, after one wash hair again turned to the same yellow colour. Also, my hair became so frizzy and started break. I saw so many good reviews and went there, but really disappointed with the service. So, I went to another salon and they did some bond regaining treatments and did the colour the way I asked. PS: My stylist was Shaira and my first appointment was on 11th December and second was on 14th December.
