I recently just moved to St.Albert and was driving to Sherwood park to get my hair done still. I needed to find a hairstylist in St.Albert so I decided I would try Empire because of their amazing reviews. I will definitely be back! Ralene did an amazing job on my hair! She listened to me and she took her time to make it perfect! I am beyond happy. Plus the salon is so cute and cozy, I love it!!! Thank you Ralene!

I've been going to Empire Salon since the opening and have received nothing but exceptional experiences each time. Stylists are masters at their profession, very friendly and personable, location is excellent, and atmosphere is trendy and comfortable. They're also licensed to serve alcohol so you can enjoy a tasty beverage while hanging out with these awesome fun bubbly people (VERY cool!). It's blatantly obvious the negative reviews are from competitors or and such, because ANYONE I know who has received an Empire experience has nothing but positive things to say! Each time I go there it's the best haircut I've ever had.

What more can I say about Shawna and the dream team at Empire... AMAZING! Shawna has been my stylist for over 10 years and I cant imagine anyone else doing my hair. They're always keeping it fresh and trendy and I feel like a million bucks when I leave. Everyone is warm and welcoming when I go they all just feel like good friends now, and there's nothing better than that. On top of that the salon itself is gorgeous and decorated beautifully, I always feel relaxed when I go there. I'm always excited for my next appointment there!

I adore Empire! From the moment I walk in even if it’s for product, or to book an appointment the receptionist is there to help. If you have questions about product a hair stylist is happy to assist you. You can tell that the owner takes pride in her business and customer service as she’s always around checking in with a smile on her face. Cara is an amazing hair stylist! All staff at empire that I’ve met or even seen has been extremely professional and polite to everyone. I will continue to travel 45 minutes for an appointment as it’s the best salon I’ve been to.

I called last minute for a haircut and they fit me in with Jacqueline! I have tough hair to deal with and she did an amazing job at caring about my concerns and made me feel super comfortable and was able to give me a haircut I can feel good about!

I am not one to complain, but after seeing all the rant and rave about empire I decided to give it a try.. man am I disappointed. This “dream team” is more like a nightmare. I should’ve known because when I called to book, the lady was extremely rude and short because I didn’t know the difference between a colour and foil. Then when I got there, my foils where left on to long. My hair is now fried. She cut off way more than I had asked (picture was shown) and I am so devastated. So much for team work and highly educated. I would’ve been better off going to a barber shop. Very unhappy with my service, I do not recommend going here if you want to look nice.

I have been seeing Shawna & Cara for my hair for the last 9 years. They have never failed to give me stunning locks and top notch service. I get non-stop compliments about my hair after every appointment. Plus, I always look forward to my Latte! I love everything about Empire. It feels like you are visiting friends. First time there last night. I live 90 minutes away and this is the most amazing haircut I've had in 6 YEARS! I have short, fine, thinning hair, that other hairdressers assume is 'easy' but takes talent to do it well. I haven't even had time to try out the fancy spray I bought, just did my hair like normal today and everyone at work keeps commenting how great it looks. I feel so vain - I keep smiling in the mirror, glass doors, etc. Thank you so much! No buzz cut or mullet here! ;)

I’ve given this place the benifit of the doubt and gone a couple times now and each time has been a nightmare. It seems they put up a front on social media as being this great team but there staff is like a revolving door and there’s only ever been one tech (that is also no longer there) who went out of her way to service and be nice to me. She was great on the phone and was the initial reason I agreed to book my first appointment. The atmosphere in the salon can be dreary as every staff member looks extremely overworked and exhausted and they all have a bad attitude on them. I won’t be back as I’ve already been multiple times and each was the same mediocore/poor service and atmosphere. Sorry ladies but I truely hope this review helps in the future. ****EDITED**** Because I couldn’t find how to reply. The term ‘nightmare’ was used because each time I went in, it was hectic and hellish, so when I seen it on another comment I thought it fit perfectly. The stylist I saw is also no longer there. I really don’t appreciate the owner implying I’m not geniune with my reviews when I wrote this reply to help you ladies see how the outside world is viewing you. I also kindly doubt the “not overworked” as I’ve been told ‘jokes’ on the phone that you only allow your workers to “call in dead”. To spin this on its tail, the spew of bad reviews I also noticed has been all of a sudden flooded out with “5 stars”. Cheating to get 5 stars isn’t geniune. You can tell it’s not geniune because every comment mentions the owner. (Que the new comments). The response from the owner took any consideration I had into coming back away. Thanks, maybe try to take the advice next time instead of being passive aggressive, which I have seen now on a few responsss to reviews, which maybe is why people aren’t willing to think the salon could behave otherwise.

I can't say enough good things about Empire Salon. I've been seeing Shawna for more than a decade to have my "hair-apy." I have NEVER left her hands without feeling like the most amazing, beautiful, updated version of myself. She is a masterful consultant who truly makes an effort to understand what you want, but also advises on trends she thinks will suit your personal style. I've watched her colleagues during many visits and know they are the same. I was so happy for her when she opened this business, as she has such a passion for her work and her staff. The salon is clean, trendy, comfortable, and innovative. They have amazing lines of hair care products and accessories you will love, not to mention some great wines to help you relax during your visit. I agree with Jeff; the few recent negative reviews seemed staged by competitors!

I recently got some extensions done by Anna and couldn’t be more happier with the results. Not only have I always left Empire with hair that gets complimented by strangers but it’s always a great experience! Without a doubt I love Empire. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by friendly staff. Once you are seated in your chair, you begin your professional consult. My consult has always been with Shawna at the salon. She has been my stylist for years. She is the only one who can handle these thick locks of mine!! You then get to sit back and relax with a latte or a glass of vino! I don’t go for a hair appointment, I go for an experience. Shawna is also the owner of the salon. She has created this business with her passion for this industry and in a very unique way. The stylists at Empire work as a team, and that is the difference. They help each other out and you will feel that when you are there. If you want professionalism, a hard working team and great hair, then Empire is the place to go.

Ive been coming to Empire for years, Ive had my hair done by multiple stylists, ive had colours, cuts, balayage. I am always very happy with my hair and their work is always up-to-date with trends and modern techniques. I know i can give them artistic freedom and it will come out fabulous.

I am a little nervous to post this, but feel it is important for others to be aware, I came in and got my hair cut. The stylist was super friendly, however took off 3-4 inches more than I had asked. I showed a picture, she looked at it once and that was that. The style was great, however being at home I can’t style my hair :( I just wish my hair would grow faster so that I can have the length I originally wanted.
