Love this salon! I've got very long hair and have been extremely happy with my cuts and styles here. Gamal never cuts too much off and the style compliments my features! The price is competitive and the service is always friendly. He provides care and style tips and tricks of you like. Gamal works with you to make your style best for you. Generally online reviews of anything are from a faceless foe with an axe to grind. I have been a patron for several years. I have tried other places but they give the generic “ coupe du jour” which these days is paramilitary. I get a good cut here based on what I ask for, not what a stylist Gamal is chatty, but competent. He’s a family man working diligently for his children. Certainly not a pervert! I’m sure he won’t miss the business of the one dissident who probably has their own unresolved issues.

Gamal had been giving me haircuts since I was a 1 year old child and I still see him today. He used to cut my great grandmother's, my grandmother, my mother and my hair all together. He is good at what he does and genuinely loves what he does with a passion. He does it for great prices keeping it affordable for students like me who just need a good cut. There is a lot of art in his shop turning it into both an art gallery and a hair dresser.

I have never given a ONE STAR to any place. I'm almost worried to do this review! It's taken me 3 weeks to finally decide to do it because I'm actually still upset about the hair appt I made here based on the online reviews it had. First, I believe the owner is probably great at doing men's hair cuts & hence the good reviews. But the day I went there, 2 other ladies left very upset about their highlights & I was the 3rd! I am in my 50's so i think I know enough about hair cuts and highlights. I went to get MORE dark low lights, I had some from my trip to Calgary a few months ago & at THE NOTORIOUS HAIR GROUP, in Calgary, the owner was amazing ok? My hair was cut, low lighted, all in ONE HOUR. I told the owner of this place that I did not want a hair cut! I was growing out my hair. He insisted that he would cut 1/4 of an inch only from the bottom. I also specifically told him i do NOT want any ORANGE in my hair. I did not have ANY orange when I went to see him. I'm sorry for tbe long story! But i feel compelled to tell other ladies, not to go here! Please. I'm still upset because he bleached out my roots and it hurt like #$%! I'm attaching a couple of pics to show you. I left with bleached out hair with orange high lights. It cost $160 and to be honest I'm furious with myself for paying him. The other 2 ladies that were there paid $160 so I thought that was the price. I was there for FOUR HOURS! He let me come back in 2 days & he tried to fix it. It is not fixed & he was going to charge me again! I am now going to Scissors in Kanata to see if they can fix my hair that I hate right now. I also found out he charged me for a hair cut. I told him i didn't want a hair cut, that is soooo low. Also he will ONLY take CASH!! So if you don't come with cash he will get you to leave your drivers license while you go to the TD bank up the street. You may have seen the another ladies Google review stating he made her hair orange. Trust Google reviews, for the most part. I've heard so many great things about Scissors. This is what happens when you're hasty & go somewhere you've never been & don't do your research. I'm full of regrets because I always do but this Saturday I was in a rush to get low lights. Ladies don't go here for any high lights or low lights. What are the chances of me seeing 2 other ladies leave upset about what he did to their hair? Go to a reputable salon that is current with today's trends. Thanks for listening to MY story.

Went to do an ombre, but then Gamal suggested something far better and my hair looks a lot healthier cause I had splitends on my splitends. So he trimmed my hair and did a 2 color tone mix highlight between violet and hazel. Love the results! Thanks Gamal. Will be back again.

Also, fun fact, much of the art (maybe all?) is his own work and is incredible. I have been going to this hair salon for approximately 10 years. Gamal, the owner and stylist is absolutely FABULOUS for making my very, very fine hair look much thicker than it actually is. Every haircut has always been great. He will occasionally make a suggestion regarding how much I should get cut depending on how dry my hair may be at the time or recommending a cut that he believes would be more flattering. He is ALWAYS right on and all his suggestions are made in a respectful way so that you don't feel pressure to take them if you don't agree or are unsure. It is very rare to get a stylist that knows how to give consistent great haircuts AND consistently blow dries hair so it looks it's best. this is the salon!!! Prices are also extremely reasonable and this salon is very accommodating to walk-ins or helping out with last minute "hair emergencies" :-) Margot
