I've been to hair salon over 30 times,but how terrible it was. It could be the worst one. According to my stylist, she has worked for 10 years. Even I doubted. I could do better than that so Ive been really regretting. What is more I paid 40 $. She looked like busy that's why she didn't try to do the best. I'll never go there absolutely.

The staff were very friendly and nice. Yuna did my hair today and I LOVEEE ITT. I feel bad I didn’t give enough tip ???? next time WILL DOOOO. I guess I was overwhelmed by the price lol ????. BUT REALLY WORTH IT and the other ladies that also touched my hair were great. The one who washed my hair also massaged my head, it felt sooo good ???? I have been coming to Kamiya for years and years (starting from when they were in their previous location), and have never had a bad haircut. Whether I’ve asked for “just a trim”, a layered cut, “just make it shorter”, or showed him a photo, Hiro has been able to make it happen exactly as I pictured it every time. I’ve also seen other stylists there with great results, and service is just as top notch every time. Prices are very reasonable, salon is very clean, and everyone is super friendly. I just had my first post-COVID quarantine haircut, and I feel like (and look like) a million bucks. They have made adjustments to their salon and routine to adapt to COVID and I felt safe the entire time. I could not recommend them enough!

I have been patronizing the Kamiya North York store for the past few years. This is my first time having my hair cut in the Kamiya downtown store. I made an appointment with Level 3 Senior Hairstylist, Keiko san. When I arrived, all the hairstylists were busy, but they controlled their time very well. I waited for less than five minutes and Keiko started to serve me. The whole hair cutting process was very enjoyable. Keiko understood my requirements very well, and the final result was exactly what I wanted. Definitely coming again!

I was looking for a post-covid simple trim for long hair and nothing fancy; looking to donate 12 inches sometime soon. They washed then trimmed. It was very professional and service was high quality; didn't have hair on my face or clothing after. Generally the stylists here are highly skilled and detailed (more scissor work than non-japan salon) but it always depends on your individual experience, your hair type and individual needs. Pleasant conversation. Reasonable price. My stylist was Keiko. My hair is undyed-black / black-brown Asian. Hope that helps. I used to go to the uptown location but they were backlogged. I'll come here, on the waitlist for an appointment for my son.

Great hair salon that cares about their customer's need. I came here for a full length color and it was $118 (with tax included). It took around 2 hours but the time would also depends on your hair type. Hair designer are separated into 3 levels. I chose level 2 and she was still very knowledgeable given the fact that she has been a hairstylist for over 10 years. It was a great experience but I would not come here often for coloring because it's still very expensive. I will definitely visit again as a treat for myself.

This is a very nice place to get a haircut, the hairdresser can get the hairstyle on point. However, not an idea place for balayage, I came here for balayage since I’m confident with the previous haircut services, ended up very disappointing with the results. Even though I’ve washed my hair couple of times over almost 2 months, it still doesn’t tell the big difference. Feel like wasted almost 400 bucks.

Got a straight perm and hair cutt for a really reasonable price. The hair stylist was attentive, gave attention to detail and took her time. The head messages were great during the hair washing, longest time I have ever had my hair washed at any salon. Overall I'd come back for sure. If this perm lasts long it will for sure deserve a 5 star. EDIT: I did have to go back for one more treatment , completely free of charge . I will vouch this for this place . Customer service was the best I ever received and this treatment really saved me time and would suggest it to anyone who dislikes their uncontrolled frizzy curly hair. I will be coming back when it grows out .

Kamiya is still the best Asian Hairdressing place in Toronto. Both locations are wonderful. I had Naoki for this time and he gave very good consultation for my hair color. He also gave a beautiful haircut and I already got so many compliments for this new look! I’m so happy, and thanks Naoki so much for the new hair ❤️

Appointment online is super easy and clear, you can choose your stylist based on gender, level, price, then it will show you all available time slots. It was my first time there and I got Mai (director) for cuts based on good Yelp reviews. She did an absolute greeaaat job! She gave sincere & helpful advice on what's the best for my hair, and I trust her so much that I booked another coloring appointment right after! Not to mention the reasonable price ($60/65 for director lvl 4 is relatively cheap)! Highly recommended!! I'm soooo happy I finally have a favorite hair salon !!

My hair was in dire need of some love and I wanted to try Kamiya. I used the online booking (which is super easy) and did not specify anyone in particular. I was given an appointment with Motoko. Austere and simple yet cozy, Kamiya won't dazzle you with ornate decor and that suits me just fine. Motoko looked at my hair and I told her I needed the dead ends cut but try to keep as much length as possible since I trying to grow my hair longer. Motoko salvaged a lot of length and cleaned up my messy layers. I will absolutely book with her again. どのありがとうもとこちゃん????

Cutting Asian hair is tricky. Being able to convey and get the haircut consistently the way I want is what I value. That place did that very well and that's why I keep coming back to them. Also located near work so convenient for this lunch cuts. The added touch of a hot face towel with the cut is just delightful.

My go-to place for Asian hair. I've had my hair coloured and cut by numerous stylists over the years - Miyuki, Max, Aki, Mai, and Hiro. They were all wonderful. Sweet, detail oriented, and always gave me the style I was looking for (or recommended flattering ones if I needed a change). I feel so relaxed here, knowing that I'm being well taken care of, that it's usually difficult not to fall asleep in the chair. (Side note: the shampoo and head massage process is also something to always look forward to!)

My partner and I went to get our haircuts here (they have curly hair and I have thick Asian hair), and they both ended up badly. They literally just cut straight across and didn’t bother shaping the haircut whatsoever. If you have curly hair you know that’s a huge no-no. On top of that my haircut was uneven (and since the haircut was so blunt, it’s super noticeable). Most of the girls there had long hair and were coming in for dye jobs so maybe that’s where their speciality lies? But if you want short hair and/or have curly hair I wouldn’t recommend this place.

A great place to go for a haircut. I can choose between a 45 minute or one hour mens cut depending on my time and they wash your hair before and after and at the end they give you a hot towel to use. Being Asian the hair at the side of my head has a tendency to stick out and they know how to deal with that. I always ask for Tomi who is a senior stylist and she always does a great job!

Kamiya is conveniently located downtown and has exceptional customer care. The studio is clean and well appointed too. I believe they must do a fabulous job with women's hair, and that would explain the abundance of five star ratings. However, their ability to cut men's hair, perform fades, or cut shorter hair is not so good. I decided to give Kamiya two tries at cutting my hair. First I tried a "level 1 stylist", and the result was rather poor. In order to give them a proper review, I came in a second time a few months later, and chose a "level 2 designer". That choice puts the price on par with similar well reviewed men's haircuts in the area. Unfortunately, I had the same result. Uneven cut, poor fade and a little too much hair cut off. All in all, nice people, great extra services (wash and hot-towel), but not the best choice for men.

I have visited twice over a 5 month period, and love this place. Both times my stylist was Aki, and she does a fantastic job layering my thick hair. I've been to much pricier salons in and around Yorkville that gave me sloppy layering. The salon itself is medium-sized, clean, and tidy, and the price is very reasonable. Will definitely come here again.

Motoko-san (level 3 senior stylist) is my go-to hairdresser. She's amazing! Always does such a good job with the coloring and styling of my hair. I simply show her a picture of the style/colour I want and I sit back and enjoy. I've been coming to Kamiya for the past two years. The stylists here are amazing: they offer free consultation and really listen to what you want. I usually get my hair dyed and cut once every 6 months, never had any complaints. They serve coffee and tea while you're waiting. They do a whole head massage + hair wash when you get your hair cut. They have a variety of magazine to browse for inspiration. Even chargers for your phone!! Because I have dry and frizzy hair, i always go to Asian hair salons because of their expertise handling my type of hair. I really recommend Japanese/Korean salons for dying hair, they have a way with color that does minimum damage & longer lasting color. I just wish they would play soft classical/jazz music rather than radio pop

I specifically asked for a senior stylist because I actually want to change my hairstyle as opposed to just a trim, and I'm willing to pay the extra money to make sure I get what I want. They set me up with an intermediate stylist (they told me the senior stylist was not there that day), but I still paid extra. I didn't want to argue but I won't come back for sure. I find their quality has gone down too much. Other than that this is a great place to spend the extra money you don't need.

Kamiya is maybe one of the best hair salons I've ever been to. <3 I listened to the recommendation to book an appointment with Nana for the first visit to Kamiya, also my first experience in hair bleaching. Nana is really gentle, she knows the trending hair-style and hair color so well that after I walked out with a nice cute faded pink hair, even random people on the street give accomplishment. They also give consultation before your actually appointment to discuss what you want to do and if it is possible to have your expected result. It is really cool cuz I got to know what I want better through the consultation, and the result meets my expectation better. For now, I've been bleaching/dying my hair several times in Kamiya already. For me I think their price is fair enough for what I got, also compared to the big market. I will definitely recommend to experience their hair-styling service!

I would say in rare circumstance that I would find the stylist being rude and unprofessional. A smaller salon but the hairstylists are all very friendly and have given me good suggestions on hairstyles that suited my face shape and hair type. Mai was my hairstylist this time and she was friendly and nice to chat with. The person who washed my hair was great as I felt my scalp and hair got a good cleansing/massage compared to some other places I've been, yet still being gentle.

She helped me out in choosing my style and colour that best suit my skin tone. Ericka was very precise, made sure that I am comfortable with the length of my hair and was careful with colour application. I am very happy with the results and will sure come back! I'm always wary of asking for super dramatic changes when I go to new places so I kept my requests on the safe side just in case ... but now I wish I had just gone for the whole shebang, because Motoko was lovely and did a fantastic job with the single color dye and cut I asked for! I definitely trust her to deliver some quality hairdressing and will be asking for her again :) **UPDATE** Motoko is on mat leave now but just had a session with Hiromi who was equally amazing - I’m so SO pleased with what she did with my messy hair, thanks so much Hiromi!!

Hiro permed my hair less than a month ago. He was very nice and professional. My problem is not with Hiro but the Manager at Kamiya. Here's the story... I read online through google reviews that Hiro is a really good stylist, so I booked a consultation with him to perm and cut my hair. During my consultation with Hiro, I told him that because of the pandemic, I don't know when I can get a next perm so I wanted my hair to be super curly. He told me not a problem, I'll make sure that the curls stay in etc. After my hair appointment, I was extremely happy with the results and Hiro told me that if there are any issues to please contact him. After about 2 weeks my curls started to die, but being a VERY busy mom I didn't get a chance to call Hiro until today. When I called Kamiya, I found out that Hiro has moved back to Japan permanently. During my appointment with Hiro, he did not mention anything to me about this! If I had known, I would have booked an appointment with a different person. I asked the girl on the phone what my options were since Hiro moved back to Japan without notice and I was not happy with the results. She said that she needed to talk to her manager (which I understood). When she called back, she told me that the manager said that there was nothing they could do!!! The manager suggested that I could book another appointment with another hair stylist and to pay for it full price! My perm was over $300 and I gave a BIG tip. I am really disappointed with Kamiya, I thought that I found my new hair go to but because of this, I don't think that I will ever go back. I do not recommend!

I went for a haircut here for the first time and was helped by Naoki, who was amazing! I showed him a picture of the hairstyle I usually go for, he took some time to look at my hair, the picture, discussed briefly with me on the style, and then we got started. This is the best haircut I have ever had! I always thought my hair doesn't look that great short, so it's always a trade off for me if I want short hair. But he made it look amazing and just like the picture I showed him, my mind was blown. Overall I had a great experience here, I had an amazing haircut and Naoki was very friendly and polite. 10/10 would recommend.

Highly recommend. Sooo pleased with my haircut and style with Nana. After the cut and style I got a zillion compliments in the first week and - after many washes - am still getting compliments now, three weeks later! My hair looks healthy and bouncy and makes me very happy. Nana took the time to really listen to what I wanted, gave very helpful and honest feedback on what would and wouldn’t work and gave me a fantastic haircut.

This is the Best hair salon I have tried in Toronto. I am really satisfied with their service. They are very professional.

Marketed as a Japanese business but it’s not; they just employ Japanese staff. However not everyone is Japanese so don’t expect the same service. Japanese staff are on temporary visas so they don’t stay long. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a Japanese staff cut my hair last time - her skill was limited; probably cut every guys hair the same style. For a barber style experience, it’s not cheap either, $45.

Talk about wasting money for a touch up and toning the highlights . First I got someone, a very sweet young woman, who could not understand English. She had no clue what I was talking about. Then she put the toner in for so long that my highlights became very dark. The haircut was not what I asked for. On top I paid top $$$

I booked an appointment without knowing what I was getting myself into. Upon entering I was happily greeted by the staff, and a hairdresser was available on time. I had the pleasure of being serviced by Erika, and it was nothing short of wonderful. She is a true veteran of her craft. She carefully took her time with each cut and was a great person to be around. I'd recommend her to anyone needing a great cut. Thanks Erika and Kamiya, I will surely be back.
