I went to Element because I moved and it's closer than my old place. On a beaming recommendation I made an appointment about a week ago to get my hair done. The girl who cut my hair was really great with making sure she knew what I wanted. The cut was perfect and so were the lowlights but she left the front highlight foils in too long and the front of my hair has silver in it now. I didn't hate the experience and everyone was really welcoming but it left a bitter taste in my mouth. Might just go back to my old place and get my hair re done.

For any guys that want to keep their longer hair AVOID Phong. I went in today to get my hair cut, when Phong asked me what I was looking to have done I specifically stated that I liked the current length and wanted to keep growing it out, he agreed and I took that to mean he understood my request. Now If you want a current on trend male style then Phong seems to be perfect, however in this case I did not want a current style. My request was to tidy up the back and sides of it so I didn't look like a q-tip. What I got was an uneven short mess that I could have gone to First Choice to get the exact same cut for half the price. With the soft lights they have there it's hard to tell how even the cut is, and everything looks good. At home I have harsher lights and I could see instantly that the front was uneven and looked awful. This was honestly the worst decision I could have made. If you're in the area and looking for a good short haircut go over to Maruizos, it's just across the road and they actually listen to their customers.

A very very expensive hair style. I have been twice in the last month. Paid over $400 and am still unhappy with my hair. I was told by the first stylist that the dark colour would fade, it didn't... I was told that the areas where there dark and blond looked blotted that it would fade, it didn't. Yesterday, I specifically said I was worried about grey, and orange.... Sure enough... Grey and Orange in my hair. The stylist was very sweet and even tried to give me free products to make up for the last time. But I am so upset about my hair. ????????????

AMAZING! WONDERFUL! FANTASTIC! This place went ABOVE and BEYOND to accommodate me in my special situation. I had tried dying my own hair blonde for a confidence boost the Friday night before starting a new job. It did not turn out to say the least. It was orange and brown. Splats of color here and there. I emailed in a panic at 11 pm and by 10 am the next morning they had responded with a date/time, questions and solutions! That day, I was assessed and taken care of. Kim and a great new stylist stayed late making sure I understood what they were doing to fix my mistakes and carefully placing each foil! The results are so beautiful and natural - the perfect blonde. I'll never forget the extra effort put in to help me when I was so anxious. YOU GUYS ARE GREAT AND I AM SO THANKFUL FOR YOU!

First haircut with Jen. I haven't had a haircut done by a professional in years. I've been cutting my own hair because I could never find a stylist who catered to thick Asian hair and understood that you can't cut it like everyone else. Jen was amazing! I saw this salon while driving through The Boardwalk and was interested in trying it out as I was looking for a salon close to home. That was a bad choice as I had a terrible experience. I requested a trim with layers to remove some of the bulk in my hair. Instead, I received an uneven cut with uneven layers that I didn't even notice until I paid and went home. The reason I didn't realize was because they don't bother to straighten your hair after a cut here, like they would at pretty much every other salon in the city. The stylist instead blow dried it until it was a frizzy mess and not even completely dried, then spun my chair around and told me to pay at the front. I asked if there was any sort of hair straightening or curling included with the cut, and my stylist said that it costs an extra $10 on top of your cut price to have your hair straightened or curled. I have never been to a salon where I had to pay $45 for a haircut and they don't even bother to finish your hair to make it look nice. I ended up going home (because I didn't feel comfortable going out in public with my damp and frizzy hair), straightened my hair, and recut it myself to make sure it was even. While my hair was being cut, my stylist was having inappropriate conversations with the other stylists, who were constantly complaining about something and giving the whole salon a negative vibe. I have never written a poor review before, but I cannot in good conscience recommend this salon to anyone who wants a relaxing experience and a good cut. **Update: Thank you for your response but I assure you that this is not a fraudulent review. I wouldn't be in your security footage as this review reflects a visit in November or December of 2014 (and I don't believe Google has a time limit for posting a review). Perhaps my stylist was new and didn't know your policy regarding complimentary styling after a hair cut, but I assure you it was explained to me that it would cost an additional $10. I have added an extra star to my review, as you say your company policy is to provide a complimentary finish. However, I stand by my review, as I was not able to see the uneven cut I received until I left because she did not fully dry or even straighten my hair. She was paid (and tipped) for a service I believed she provided before I left, but upon leaving the salon, I was very disappointed. Please don't take negative reviews so harshly. They are written by people who are just describing their honest experiences (whether good or bad) with companies in order to help others make an informed decision, and they don't have malicious intent. I got a haircut this week with Laura and had a fantastic experience! I explained to her that I wanted my hair SUPER long but it was looking SO dry and awful. She did a fantastic job in explaining just how much would need to be cut to achieve a healthy look (which is what I requested) and even showed me where it would lay on my shoulders before starting the cut. She was amazing at reading my cues as well. We chatted but I also needed to get work done and when I started working, she worked away and let me focus without interrupting me. When I wanted to chat again, she was all ears. It was a fantastic experience and also a really good price! Thanks Laura!

Horrible Customer service. When a client comes in and asks for something, and they don't receive it, and they do not like how their hair turned out. You should 100% fix it for free. Hair is a big deal to some people! To be told the client has to pay to fix it is disgusting. Also to go by what the hairdresser tells you of what the client says is wrong, there are two people to an agreement on what the client wants for her hair. I WILL NEVER GO HERE. Plus you guys over charge more than most luxury salons for POOR quality.

I told the stylist I wanted it cut to my shoulders but it ended up being cut to just below my chin and the layering looked terrible. This place may be good for people with straightforward hair looking for a basic cut, but not if your hair needs a little more attention.

I called with a 647 area code and was demanded a FaceTime interview to show my drivers license to prove I’m a resident. First of all, that’s and invasion of privacy. Second of all, this is a student town, my drivers license still shows my home address because students tend to move so instead of changing my address every year I just leave my home address, the system is extremely flawed. On top of that, the phone call was 15 minutes to book a haircut, she kept putting me on hold and talking to other employees while on the phone with me. I finally got fed up with it and hung up.

I was honestly thinking of taking my son here. But after reading the business owners replies to peoples concerns here.. they are incredibly unprofessional and rude! Every point and the way they typed it was disrespectful to the customer and the customers are just trying to explain they didn't get talked to, didn't get the right color, paid more then expected, left with wet hair on cold days etc. These are real concerns.. I get that things are harder for a salon during the pandemic, but a customer should never have been spoken to in a review like that. Either say something to help or pass it by. Other companies say, "I'm sorry you had a bad experience, we would love to have another chance" etc. On a completely other note. My friend who goes here usually comes back with her bangs or hair shorter then requested.. I still wanted to give them a shot.. but the replies to their customers comments... so unprofessional. I wouldn't even take my dog there to be treated that way. Edit: The response that I just received confirms how rude and unprofessional the responses on here have been from you. You don't seem to be able to take any negative criticism well. But hey nothing for me to worry about, I just won't ever be a customer and hope others don't get treated like the others that had an unfortunate experience and then were left with a nasty comment in reply to their review. I can't believe I just paid 100 dollars for a colouring service just to be told, while the colour was being washed out of my hair, that I would be charged extra if I wanted my hair blow dried. Totally disillusioned by this, I declined the extra charge and walked out of the salon with wet hair. I have gone to many salons over the years and this is truly a first for me. On top of that my face and neck are badly stained, even now, a day after. Let's just say I will never be going back, and I strongly urge others to think twice before getting colour services here. Get a better value for your money at literally any other quality salon in the area.

Element is a great salon and treats their customers like VIPs. I had a hair emergency and they were able to accommodate me the same day for a consult, cut, and colour. All the hairdressers came over to discuss options and how best to proceed with my over processed hair. You can really tell that all the employees care about their client's experience. As soon as you walk in you are greeted and offered a drink and are once again offered a drink during your appointment. Wilhelmina is the best! She always takes out the colour board to talk through all the options with you and she gives an awesome scalp massage when she washes your hair. I would definitely recommend element to friends and family.

**UPDATE** I ended up calling back in and getting a chance to fix up my hair. Everyone was super lovely and really committed to understanding what happened and to making sure I got exactly what I wanted. Lance and Sam really took their time to understand me and talked through all of my options and the limitations of my own hair. They really went above and beyond in making sure I left with exactly what I wanted :) As soon as I got home everyone commented on how much my hair suited my personality :D Been here a few times due to it being really close to my home-the staff are very friendly and the service has always been good enough to warrant me coming back, mostly out of convenience than anything special (I did, however, have one VERY excellent cut from a stylist, I believe her name was Lacey) I left my last cut feeling a bit underwhelmed due to some issues communicating what I wanted with my stylist and feeling a bit like I had to justify my hair choices to her. I left feeling like I didn't really get what I wanted, and thought I might call in to see if anything could be done. After reading the extremely aggressive responses from the business on here and in response to some negative employee reviews left on Indeed, I just don't feel comfortable returning here and supporting a business like this-too bad :(

I hate leaving poor reviews but this is how I feel about this salon. I have gone here a couple of times and have been disappointed both times. I explained what I wanted the first time and the results were not what I wanted. I thought that maybe I had explained wrong so I brought in a picture and the result was still not what I wanted. Unfortunately it is a nice salon close to my house but the results have not been good. I am sooo disappointed that I paid over $200 for my hair and I did not get what I wanted again. The colour that they use is garbage, after less then a week, the colour is dull and my hair is lifeless. Definitely not worth the price and will go somewhere else.

I am so happy to be a customer of this Salon. If any of y'all are feeling your current hair stylist is falling flat on your expectations, you should definitely give this place a try! They really care about the quality of work they are putting out here. Kim has cut my hair twice now. I usually ask for something different each time with my old stylists, but for the first time ever with her, I came in and said, "Please do exactly the same thing as last time". It was the perfect cut! The number of compliments for my hair had increased by a steady ~500%. She is so darn good at her job, I would trust her with my life. Lance is great too! Everyone here is great. Great everything. Yeah. Just great.

Please don’t waste your money at this salon don’t get me wrong the stylist are very nice but the male owner is absolutely out of control and has no respect for new clients I went there for a consultation was sold on what was going to be done loved the hairstylist but then saw that they charge an extra $10 for a Covid clean down I understand it’s not a huge amount but considering we’re in a pandemic it’s not our fault that you have to clean down a bit more than usual when I just had a question about it he wouldn’t even let me speak and yelled at me telling me how appropriate he thinks it isBecause they have been closed but yet was fine yelling i’m losing a brand new client who is willing to pay $350 for their hair please don’t go here I really wish the stylist here would move on from this location because the owner does not respect them at all or anyone that walks into the building. And I see how he responds to people on here so I’d really like to see him respond to this. You’re a disrespectful man who feels like he can talk down to woman but it’s 2021 and that’s not the case anymore

I visited this salon at the beginning of March and had a terrible experience from start to finish. When I called to make an appointment they told me I needed to put down a deposit and could give them my credit card number through the phone, when I told her I was not comfortable with that she said I could drop by and pay the deposit of $50, which was the first thing that bothered me as I had to make an unnecessary trip for a completely (in my opinion) unnecessary reason. I have never heard of giving a deposit at a hair salon and I've been visiting salons for a decade. I also informed the stylist that I wanted a root touch up for my blonde highlights and asked her how much it would be, she told me it was going to be over $200, which was way too pricey in my experience so I asked how we could make it cheaper, she informed me that if we do partial touch-up it will be less, so I asked to do that and then the price was still expensive and so she told me I could leave with wet hair, so I decided to do that as well and the bill came to a little over $100. When I got to the salon the next day I was greeted and put in a chair with no mirror in front of me (which again I have never heard of in a salon as I should be able to see what the stylist is doing). My stylist was Deanne, she did not make any effort into starting a conversation with me (not that I am one for small talk but a simple - how is you day? would be just fine), and sat there in silence for TWO HOURS. The only thing she did ask me was to sign a sheet of paper, basically saying this is the price etc. Which again unheard of to me to sign something at A HAIR SALON. And asked me what color toner I would like. I told her I liked a reddish pink tint to my hair. Long story short I left the salon with MERMAID PINK hair when all I wanted was a simple BLONDE root touch up. She also didn't ask if I wanted to blow dry my own hair - even tho the salon was empty - so that I wouldn't have to leave with wet hair on a cold day. Also my hair looks ridiculous because if I part it in any other spot other than the one she did touch-ups in I have 3 inch roots. I have been to salons all across Europe and North America and this has been the worst experience I have ever had with one.

I went in with virgin black hair and Jenn was able to take it to a beautiful cool-toned charcoal grey. It was a long process but the friendly and accomodating staff made it a fun time! Despite all of the lightening done to my hair it's still very very healthy! Kind of on the pricey side as to be expected but definitely dropping by again for another lightening session. I came in from the barn, looking like a mess, and having a very rough weekend and she made me feel so beautiful and pampered. Jessica was so professional and charismatic; we were laughing and joking. Do NOT go here for a lash lift or tint! I got both done 3 weeks ago, and after I barely saw a noticeable curl. I get better curls with my eyelash curler! I also got the black tint for them, which didn't make it look any different... can honestly say my lashes looked the same as they did walking into the salon. AND, the tint burned my eyes?? Was told to wipe the tint off myself until the burning stopped? Have been other places with better results and NO burning! To top it off, a week or two after the appointment, what curl was there has mainly fallen, and it's barely noticeable I got anything done! A waste of $85, go somewhere else!

If your in the market to pay over 200$ for your hair to be fried and damaged from bleaching "Element Salon" is the place for you. Unqualified hairstylist, unprofessional salon and poor customer relations! 2 weeks ago, I had my hair highlighted here and cut there and now my hair is so badly damaged it breaks off in my hands. I've been to two salons already, both of whom say that my hair was over processed which resulted in damage of my hair and the need to have my hair heavily treated over weeks to repair the damage done to it. All of this at the customers own expense! My hair feels like the ends of a straw bristle broom and I have split ends up to 2 inches from the bottom of my hair after having my hair cut 2 weeks ago!! I called the salon concerned and worried my hair was breaking off in hand fulls. A stylist answered the phone and told me with confidence and without knowing me that "your hair was already damage before you came in." She relayed the issue to the owner Lance of "Elements Hair," who couldn't even bother to come to the phone to speak to the concerned customer about the issue. I was told they couldn't do anything for me without even so much asking me to come in to look at my hair. Here is a salon that stands by there work!!! BRAVO! SLOW CLAP! Talk about outrageous!! I urge you to strongly stay away from this salon!
