The stylist messed up my bangs and didn't style my hair the way I wanted. She also didn't ask how I wear my hair normally. Otherwise the service was good but I'm pretty annoyed about my bangs and I will have to wait for my hair to grow out before I can fix them. I will not be going back.

I had a great experience at Ava Hair Studio & Spa last month! I found out about the place through Groupon. Ava was extremely quick and efficient in her hair cutting method. I was so very please with my short-and-sassy look. I've struggled getting the right cut for a long time now, but this was the first time I left saying "WOW, it's perfect!" Ava understood what I wanted, and she delivered. I've received so many compliments on my hair ever since! I also love any opportunity to visit downtown Oakville since I love it there!

I just want to let you know that I wrote to Groupon for help. I bought Groupon for a haircut and partial highlights and I had and have a big problem with scheduling an appointment. I called a couple of times and no one was answering the phone. Finally, somebody called me back offering an appointment for a haircut in 3 weeks. I am finding this ridiculous - who wants to wait 3 weeks for a haircut? - the girl Ava - /apparently the owner/ answering the phone was rude and said call 'Groupon' with complaining if you don't like it. I am so disappointed. So what now? Do I lose my money?

The haircut skill is okay with affordable price (with the first-visit 10% discount) and the place is bright and tidy. However, when it comes to their time management skill, it’s very shameful. I made an appointment for my husband’s haircut at 2pm and we arrived there on time. But his haircut did not get started until 2:50pm without any proper explanation. Meanwhile we just sat there and wait and wait. While waiting for 50 minutes, only thing we heard from the hairdresser was “give me five minutes” after my husband got hair washed. Of course, there was no apology at all for making us wait that long. I am not sure why they even have an appointment system if they don’t follow it anyways. This is very unprofessional.

Showed up to appointment. Drove all the way from Etobicoke. Assistant told me the owner couldn't cut my hair because she ran out of time. Owner didn't apologise, wouldn't even look at me. Told me to come back after the lockdowns a month from now. Completely flabbergasted at her unprofessionalism. Had she taken a moment to apologize for the inconvenience - sometimes things come up, life happens, we can understand each other. Then we wouldn't have been left with a poor experience.

My hair has been damaged since I was 15-16. So I keep trying out different places hoping someone will help me with making it look full rather than thin and non existent. Ava cut my hair short which I knew I’d probably have to do since it was so damaged but I was willing to do anything to help it look somewhat normal again. Ava did an amazing job! I’m so unbelievably happy with how my hair turned out, how it feels and looks healthy and it suits my face structure well. went in today at 3pm for my scheduled appointment only to be told to wait as they were running behind. I said no problem. AN HOUR PASSED BY AND NO ONE CAME TO UPDATE ME OR CHECK ON ME. I drove all the way from stoney creek since I have read fantastic reviews. I will be telling everyone I have connections with in the GTA how unprofessional this business is. they were giving priority to walk ins over appointments. I booked mine a week prior. I havent had a hair cut in 3 years so was really looking forward to it. they have lost my business that's for sure.

I should add some context here. I arrived 4 minute before my appointment. I waited for 19 minutes (until 15 minutes after the appointment). Both ladies were busy and hence I did not bother them. Nobody talked to me nor even paid any attention, at which point I became wondering if my appointment was actually successfully made. I asked if I have my appointment right. The reply was "Sorry, things are getting delayed. Are you busy right now?" I am a reasonable person and could fully understand that things got delayed. I often wait good 10 minutes and even beyond. What bothered me so much (even offended me) was I had been completed ignored during the whole time until I stood up to ask "Do I have an appointment today?" Completely unprofessional! ...... nonetheless, her skill is top notch and the shop is within my neighbourhood. I am sad that I lost a good stylist in my vicinity! By the way, she texted me to ask delete this rating, which made me come back to write the context. I thought it is not a right thing to ask customer to erase rating (even without asking the nature of complaint). Again, unprofessional!

I went to see Ava after she was recommended to me and I was told she is the VERY BEST. I have always wanted Balyage done to my hair but because of the red/dark brown that I've had for years I was told by multiple hair stylists that this was not possible without multiple sessions. I went in today, using my Groupon for a cut, deep conditioning and blow dry with Lobna. I loved that she listened to what I asked for but also gave her professional opinion, saying what she thought I should do but leaving the ultimate decision to me (I trusted her expertise and took many if not all of her suggestions). I love my cut! She knows what she’s doing, was confident in her opinion and was very efficient (didn’t take a long time but gave a great end result). After she warmed up, she was also very personable and talkative. I left very happy :)

Ava and her team are amazing! I had boxed dye black hair and I left the salon feeling beautifully blonde. She made no promises upfront as she wasn't 100% sure how it would turn out. She carefully monitored my hair as it lifted to ensure it was healthy and not breaking. She is funny which made the time go by fast and explained to me the whole process. Her prices are reasonable and the salon is super clean. I have already recommended her to my friends and I will definitely be coming back.

I had my very first appointment ever with Ava earlier this month, and I'll never be returning to this salon again. I honestly believe that Ava is only friendly towards certain customers and dismissive towards others. While I was waiting for my appointment (mind you, I waited more than 45 min even though I arrived on time), I noticed that Ava was very conversational/engaging in small talk and friendly towards the clients before me. I assumed she would have a similar friendly demeanour towards me, but when it was my turn for a cut, she legit changed 180 degrees in personality. No exaggeration. It almost felt like she was annoyed that I was there. She very bluntly asked me what cut I wanted, and then she stopped talking to me for the rest of the haircut (she was unfriendly, not just quiet). I also thought it was super rude that she was texting with her other hand while curling my hair... It was truly unprofessional. Anyway, I'm not sure why Ava treated me SO differently than she did her other customers, but it seriously rubbed me the wrong way. The only reason I give two stars instead of one is because the haircut itself wasn't bad and the receptionist who washed my hair was pretty nice. Apart from that, my experience here was awful. I highly recommend you take your money elsewhere.

I was excited when I got to the salon. It’s been a year since last time I had my hair done. When I walked in, 4 ladies were in middle of colouring and one lady was sitting at the bench. It was over booked. My appointment originally was with Ava however she was already working on 2 ladies hair colouring and one lady was waiting before me for having hair cut by Ava. So Alisha came and asked me if she can take me now. I didn’t mind for the colouring but I still wanted to get a hair cut by Ava. Honestly despite of her unprofessionalism, she is one of the best for hair cut. As time went by, I trusted Alisha more with my hair cut so at the end Alisha did my hair coloured and cut and I’m thankful about how she managed professionally. Another person that I want to acknowledge is David. I want to thank him from bottom of my heart. I haven’t had much conversation with him personally but how he brought good vibe to the salon helped huge so that he has huge part in this place. However I will not be returning.

I've been going to Ava Hair Studio for 3 years now. When I first came my hair was in a very bad shape, lots of split ends and wrong colour. Ava managed to restore my hair within my first appointment and my hair has been looking terrific ever since then. Although your hair appointment may last longer than expected, be patient. The time spend on your hair is well worth it. Quality!

i had got a groupon deal when i called to make an appointment with that salon they said that i need to pay extra (and they were not able to provide me exactly how much extra i would need to pay) . i get it if i was getting a colour treatment and i would need to pay more for using more product. but for a cut i am not using extra products. They could have charged me $100 extra for all i know. So i had requested a refund since i do not want to have a chanced of being charge a lot in extra just cause my hair in 1 inches longer than shoulder length. would not recommend anyone with longer than shoulder length hair going there

I will say so happy with cut. She is an excellent stylist. However asked for a colouring (first time) and showed Ava a picture, several times. My colour turned out no where near what I asked for. Went back the next day and she was to “fix” it. It’s still not even near what I wanted. I have been to 2 colour technicians and they say I just have to let it grow out. I’m so upset and disappointed. Not going back.

I got a last minute appointment at this salon at 2pm. I waited an hour and 15 which I didn't mind too much because it was a last minute appointment before lockdown and she had to squeeze people in. We didn't really go over what exactly i wanted. I was hoping for a brighter blonde but I didn't really get that. I was not able to show her pictures because she looked very stressed and rushed. I was somewhat satisfied with the results but when I went to pay the price was over 500$. I was going to faint. I have never paid this much for my hair. I did not even receive a hair cut or olaplex treatment and I was paying this much. I asked her why it is so expensive and it was not justifiable. I had a feeling that she charged me alot more than normal because she was closing down for 4 weeks and wanted to rack up a bill. Nice woman and very sweet but I pretty much got ripped off. I will never go back here again.

Came across this salon on Instagram as sponsored content. I reached out for availability and they were able to take me that very day due to a cancellation on Friday, August 13. I had been at work however really wanted to have my hair done for an upcoming trip so I left the office and made my way to Oakville. I was excited to get my full head of baby lights done and perhaps a cut depending on the condition of my hair. The colour service had taken approx. 6hrs and went into an hour after closing, even though I did need a cut I could not wait another hour or so to have that completed having the stylist stay back even longer. I also assumed my service would be completed by closing so unfortunatly had my partner wait for me that hour at a restaurant nearby. I had been on my laptop for a portion of the service and wifi wasn't offered, if that's something that is of importance to you on a work day - fine for me however may not be the case for others. I also had no time to have lunch or get a water as I was rushing from work for the appointment made day of so lesson learnt to come prepared as it gets extremely hot under foils of bleach- unsure if they ever serve beverages at this salon or if it was just not allowed due to COVID19. Would be nice to offer water at the least to enjoy for a minute or two outside without a mask. Also, we barely spoke which is perfect for me as I like to relax during my service however this may not be for everyone as some see the salon as a social getaway and apart of their service. If your looking for the ultimate salon experience then this perhaps may not be for you if you want to enjoy a nice latte or alcoholic beverage while being serviced and a warm conversation. Although this comes usually at a higher price tag than here. Alternately, if you want a salon that provides you with BEAUTIFUL hair, lets you relax, and work hard then this is your place. I feel they need better lighting as its hard to see the result when evening rolls around and I personally left not being sure of the colour until I got home. Safe to say my hair looked great for my trip and have recommended this salon to friends and people at work. Great value here in the heart of Oakville will be visiting for my next service soon!!

I scheduled an appointment with Ava via IG DM. I drove from Toronto to Oakville after seeing her work. She didn't have my appointment in her books- said how she doesn't usually manage her appts. She couldn't accommodate me- I left. I came back a few mins after to see if she could do something else since it was her mistake- then she YELLED AT ME! i couldn't even say anything since she just kept yelling over me. I couldn't even make sense of what she was saying because she was yelling! LOL I have never had anyone treat me this way. She is not professional. she is RUDE. there are plenty of hair salons, why go support someone so disrespectful. I would NEVER ever recommend Ava. I hope she doesn't speak this way to her kids and other clients.

So I got balayage one week back. And it’s just been bothering me so much that I had to tell everyone about my experience. So I got my hair done from this girl I forgot her name, but it was not Ava. She had blonde hair. So I had a terrible experience at a different salon getting a balayage. So I decided to come here to get that fixed. I thought I was in good hands with this girl. But I wish I got it done from Ava instead. Throughout the whole thing this lady was complaining about my hair the WHOLE ENTIRE TIME! How thick my hair was, how long my hair was!! I felt so so bad the whole entire time getting my hair done. Honestly I wanted to get up and leave, and I really wish I did. I felt so bad I apologized for having long hair! Which is so sad that I had to do that. She is so unprofessional and lacks in good customer service. Never should you make ur client feel bad about their hair. After I got my hair done, I thought it looked good. Because of the lightning inside I couldn’t tell that my hair is literally blonde! I asked for dark chocolate brown hair and ended up getting blonde hair. It’s so awful. I completely hate it and after spending $200! I have to deal with this hair now. If you go here only get ur hair done from Ava

It’s been 9 months since I started to seeing her and I had cut with her about 3 times. Today was my first day that I got my Balayage from her and I couldn’t be happier. My hair has been fried from previous stylist. Trust me it’s worst that any body could imagine. During 9 months time she treated my hair so well it feels like I have no damage. It was miracle what she did. I was afraid get a Balayage but she told me not to worry and she nailed it. My hair is actually healthier than beforeHOW?? When I look at myself in mirror it was the colour that I dreamed of and she pull it off. I don’t know how to thanks her. I actually cried a bit. Happy tears. Despite how busy it was last night, seeing her work really how much she knows what she is doing. She mentioned how she has been in the industry for 26 years and it shows! (By the way Ava I’m sorry you had to experience and deal with such horrible people last night - to the disrespectful young girl, you had expectations of your hair being platinum white from being orange originally, she literally did make your hair sooo light and it was so nice. Not too sure how you weren’t happy from it not being “white like the picture”. The way your screamed at her in her own business.. screaming in her face after working on your hair for 9 HOURS, she told you NOT to pay and leave if you weren’t happy but you didn’t leave but begged her to continue work which SHE DID AT 9:30PM. Also to the mom maybe teach your girl not to have that type of attitude towards humans and learn to defuse those type of situations. I really felt like I was in some sort of reality tv sweet 16 show. I am still so boggled. I’m not the type of person at ALL to snoop in any other persons business but if you’re witnessing this happen to a really kind lady(consider the fact it was happening directly 1 metre in front of me)you ache to say something about it!!! humans like that make me sick!!! And you didn’t need to apologize for that Ava.)

Wonderful experience at this salon. Lubna did a beautiful caramel-blonde balayage for me. I was very impressed with the end result and she spent about 5 hours doing my hair. However, some of my hair was left untangled and I was unable to untangle it myself. This might be due to the fact that I have thick long hair. Other than that, great experience and I will be coming back to this salon in the near future for another balayage with Lubna.

Went here through a Groupon. I had no issues booking an appointment. However, they are pretty busy so make sure to book ahead if you were to go. I didn't have a very pleasant experience, so I will not be returning. The time that I had gone, there was a lot of construction going on so it was hard for me to find the location (which has nothing to do with them; just a side note to plan ahead to get their on time). When I got there, the lady that was suppose to do my hair was with a client. They seemed to have over booked considering there were only 3 staff members working. I had no issues with waiting for what I thought would be a bit. 15 minutes passed, then 30, then 45 at which point I am starting to freak out because I only had put enough money in the meter for 2 hours. Finally more than an hour later it was my turn. The hair wash was the best part as she massaged my head but definitely didn't make up for all the time I wasted waiting around the salon. The haircut was almost nonexistent. I had asked for a trim, layers and overall a slight change so that it looked like I received a haircut. Oh and I paid additional for long hair. Aside from my bad experience of wasted time and money, the salon itself is nice and cozy. I will not be returning based on my experience so lack of acknowledgement, wait time, and subpar haircut.

I kinda knew I might wanna go lighter but no had no clue what exactly what I wanted or much it would cost. She was super great about explaining how to keep it looking fresh and healthy. I do not recommend Ava Hair Studio to ANYONE. This place is not worth spending a penny on if anything. The staff as well as Ava herself are disrespectful, rude, and have no shame in verbally abusing respectful customers. I have been here 4 times and the last two times I was disappointed in the hair colouring as they had used bleach in my hair when I specifically asked them and they had said no... even when I asked I said If you are using it, inform me. They didn’t and went right ahead with the bleach. After that I had them fix my hair and darken the yellow highlights I had been given and Ava was muttering in the background about having to pick her child up. The 5th and last time I went, after having to schedule an appointment twice as the first one was apparently not confirmed, I have decided I will not be going again and will inform and recommend everyone to never go there again. This place doesn’t deserve anyone’s business and certainly doesn’t deserve to be in a high profile area of downtown Oakville. I STRONGLY urge their tenancy to be revoked and terminated. My designated appointment was not only double booked, I had to wait 1.5hrs (after being told it would be a 35min-45min wait) only to be told that I will not be served and should leave. Imagine! Everyone has a schedule and clearly a better time management system in place than Ava Studio. The owner, Ava, while giving her child a piggyback ride and doing another client’s hair then verbally abused me as I made my way out the door. I have never received worst customer service than here ever in my life. Not even at a place that charges a fraction of the price (1/10th) than here. Please do yourself a favour, read all the reviews here. I made the mistake of not doing so and ended up going here because I’ve been before and just want my hair done at this point but I regret it. Thank you Ava and Staff (mind you they booked too many people in and had only 2 assistants who did ensure to state that they are ‘not robots’ after spending 1.5hrs on Cleint A and asking Client B to come in half an hour later after she walked in ON TIME and still not being ready for her later) for showing everyone your true colours. Loved getting my hair done here. It was a bit busy when I came but the staff was really good at keeping me up to date on what was happening. I have never gone to a salon to get my hair colored before (or much at all in general) and everyone was really nice at walking me through. I wanted to go blonde from virgin Asian hair and after a lot of research I decided on Ava's because she seemed to have alot of experience with Asian hair. She was definitely very skilled and got my hair to where I wanted it in one session. David (an assistant?) was also super nice and helpful. To be honest I almost never like my haircuts but I really loved the cut Ava did for me! Ava also kept it really real and I even though I am not a booshy gal, I did not feel out of place when I was here. Besides Ava, the other lady who worked here (who was not Asian) also seemed to know Asian hair well. She did a beautiful colour and cut for the Asian lady beside me and I managed to eavesdrop a bunch of hot tips on how to maintain colored hair from her. :) Because the Salon is busy you may need a bit of patience, but honestly the price and wait is so worth it. I think it might be better to book an earlier appointment (Mornings to early afternoon) since they might be less busy then.

Honestly was awesome getting a sick cut and perm to be honest wasnt in the greatest mood at all coming in but once I got my perm I was smiling behind my mask in joy when I saw what my hair had looked like after the process. Would recommend

Ava and the team are like family, they do fantastic work and always go above and beyond to make me look / feel amazing. Ava is the only hair dresser I’ve been too to give me the colour I hoped for. I love the salon, I always feel welcomed and everyone there are so friendly and kind. Makes me very happy going there!

It was the best experience I had in very long time. I had brassy orange from previous hair salon and Ava corrected it in one session. She was honest and straight forward. She knows when to say NO. I love that about her. She’s very trustworthy stylist I can tell. I highly recommend to anyone.
