i came here to have my hair highlight on December. overall, the experience was great. staff was friendly, for first client you get some trial products to bring home. my hairdresser was very friendly and the service was good (for non-professional). you also have a lounge to chill when your hair is being coloured. highly recommend.

First time this weekend, and based on other reviews, I booked with Kate. I'm so happy I did! She was friendly, patient, asked great questions to get to what I wanted (I didn't really know when I went in, just knew I needed something!) and gave really useful feedback on what would be most flattering. I really like my haircut, but even better, I didn't feel rushed, or like I should be trying something new and trendy that may or may not have suited me. Kate didn't push me to buy products at all, she showed me what she'd used, and sent me home with a couple of samples before committing to anything! And the salon itself is fabulous--bright, open, and homey, didn't feel like a hair salon at all, actually, just a comfortable place to hang out. The owners sound like they are very committed to providing excellent service and keeping their staff happy (which in turn keeps them there!)...the emphasis on team building and dynamics and professional development really impressed me. I have already recommended Kate to my mom and will definitely be going back!

I hardly ever write reviews, BUT this place and the stylist I had deserves recognition!! I just got my hair done today and could not be more pleased with the results! I swear by bumble and bumble products, which is what drew me to this salon. Kate was my stylist- she is a junior but you wouldn't know it! I explained what I was looking for and she listened very carefully. She did a mixture of low lights and highlights and trimmed just enough off to freshen me up. I will certainly return and I will ask for her again- very personable, professional and passionate about what she does. Thanks!!

I had booked my appointment in advance, was already out for the day and got a call that they were cancelling, 1.45min before arrival. It's left me scrambling to get my hair sorted before an event, and it's impossible to try and get a last minute Saturday hair booking. Its super disappointing. I understand if someone is ill, but it's not cool leaving clients high and dry. I think they should have made an effort to get someone else to cover it, it was just a cut (so no time needed for colour).

OMG , 5 stars without hesitation.. I came yesterday to this salon to fix my haircut after another salon totally screw my hair up .. I booked with Diane and this woman was amazing .. she is very professional and she knows exactly how to fix it .. my hair was already short and I was so anxious that it would be fixed at all but she saved me.. I wake up this morning feeling great and pretty ..thank u very much

You'll find this level of quality stylists at several shops in town, but the prices here are so much better and they're never overbooked, leaving you with odd, shaggy hair for several weeks until you can get an opening. I see Lizzie now, but I've had cuts by three different stylists and they've all listened carefully to my requests and then turned them into something even better than I asked for.

I recommend shampoo hair bar. I am very fussy about my hair being cut because I am scared of it not turning out. Every time I have gone to shampoo hair bar, Megan has done a fantastic cut and color. I also love the products and have them for a loooooong time. My son and husband both got their haircuts different people and all the girls and guy have done great jobs! It's not the cheapest but you pay for quality. I am booking my son again tomorrow!

Mike Doddsworth saves my hair every time and gives the best scalp massage ever. From the first appointment I had with him back in his Aveda days he has always been easy to get along with whether it's catching up or getting hyped over the most recent Netflix binge. Highly recommend him as a stylist! The salon itself is uber cute, spacious and has a great atmosphere. It's pretty easy getting comfy and relaxed before and during the hair appointment. The front staff are always so cheerful and have been extremely helpful and accommodating over the phone and via email! Super easy making and changing appointments as well. The whole team rocks.

Excellent experience! I was in Victoria for a wedding and was informed that the homeless look is not in this season. Multiple people from the island recommended Shampoo bar of hair...or something like that. So I listened to the suggestion and had my appointment with Andrew. I was a bit hesitant due to my difficult curly hair. All I can say is awesome job Andrew! I think my hair looked better than the brides. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in Victoria

I had a great first experience at the Shampoo Hair Bar! My hair dresser Jessica R did an amazing job getting me in to talk through ideas for my hair and when I came in for my appointment it turned out they had raised the prices but still honoured my original appraisal. The prices are high as I was informed by my friend who recommended this place to me, but they definitely make it worth it. Absolutely love the feel of my hair and definitely have found an appreciation for "bumble and bumble" products. To top it off staff is amazing and very accommodating. Will definitely be back in.

I had Jessica dye and cut my hair a few days before my wedding in late May. She(and all the other staff) were an absolute dream to work with. The atmosphere is super open and airy, with funky unique vanities at every station, great decor, and a friendly old salon pup! What’s not to like?! I’m not very hair savvy, but knew I wanted my dull auburn hair taken up a few notches in saturation, and Jessica helped me find the perfect shade that suited my skin and face. Even better is that she’s friends with my makeup artist, so I knew immediately that I was in excellent hands! The cut was simple and gently layered, and I swear my hair has never felt more “me”, even a month on! I will absolutely be returning to Jessica and her amazing coworkers on the reg!! (And I really wish they had all randomly shown up at my wedding like they all said would!!! They’re that nice!!! Go!!!)

Lynn at Shampoo has been doing my hair since I moved to Victoria a couple years ago and she is amazing!! Really sweet person, upfront about costs and honest expectations, my hair is colored and cut beautifully (the grow out looks SO good I will get compliments on my hair color 5 or 6 months after my appointment), and really cares about the health of your hair as well. I have had lots of hairstylists before but Lynn hands down has the done the best job with keeping my blonde coloring natural and healthy and suites me. Plus the salon is really cute, relaxing atmosphere and the staff are really nice. Absolutely would recommend going!

Carmen! You are a lifesaver. I got what was supposed to be a balayage done in Langford a few weeks ago and ended up with a head of highlights. Was super bummed and hunted for someone who knows balayage well to fix my hair. Carmen was super sweet, friendly, and did such an amazing job - she outdid my expectations and my hair feels great! I started going to Shampoo Hair Bar a few years ago when I moved to Victoria, after my sister raved about a cut she had here. Since then, Ive had about four different stylists (whoever’s available really) and they all have been excellent cuts, colours & experiences! They are all so talented, super friendly, give suggestions based on your hair type, and leave me feeling really happy with my cut &/or colour. I let my super fine, straight hair grow pretty long and hadn’t been to the salon for a while since my last bad haircut (different salon, was given a gift card).. I went in today to see Kate /w a picture of what I was thinking and we had a great consultation! I got an awesome cut, exactly what I wanted, /w root touch up and highlights, and am so happy with how it turned out! Once again, I had a great experience here. It definitely is the best salon in town (my manager thinks so too!)

First time at the Shampoo Hair Bar and I LOVED IT!! Bumble and Bumble products are amazing. I saw a junior stylist named Kate. She was amazing and definitely does not cut or style like a junior. She took her time and did not make you feel rushed like at some other places. Offered tea, coffee or water. When I was getting my hair coloured she kept checking up on me and didn't just leave for 20 minutes. this is the first time I have ever written a review, but I thought I had to since I read reviews all the time. This is the place to go if you want to leave with a cut and/or colour you love and they will listen to want you actually want. Ask for Kate if you can, she is amazing!

The salon is bustling, but I felt that they were taking good measures for covid precautions (spaced out chairs, plexiglass at hair wash station, lots of sanitizing of stations between guests), I felt safe/comfortable despite the amount of people there.

I recently moved to Victoria from Vancouver and found this place online. So glad I did! Got my roots coloured and bangs trimmed with Lindsay, who was fantastic, and the BEST shampoo/rinse out, it was like a spa treatment all on its own. Best of all, the people who work there are positive and enthusiastic and talented, and at least two of them told me how lucky they are to work there and how great their bosses are. Definitely recommend this place, lovely décor, good location, excellent energy. And, I got a goody bag of B&B products as a new customer!

Probably one of the worst experiences of my life. Well, at first everyone was super friendly and I felt very welcome in the environment. Cute place, but definitely pushes products way too much. So I went in for a full head of foils, and the second my foils were in I was left alone and no one kept me company or asked if I needed anything. Fine, I anyways like reading a magazine anyway. When my hairdresser finally returned to me to take my foils out and wash my hair I could sense immediately that something had gone wrong. She became nervous and called the manager. I had chemical damage. We came back to the chair and she turned me away from the mirror so I could not see what was going on when she took off the towel wrapped around my head. She told me that my hair was in some shock after the treatment. What she didn't tell me was that I was going to lose all my hair. That became pretty evident though as chunks fell onto the floor as she attempted to brush my hair, which was impossible. She then took a blow drier to dry my hair, which in turn, melted it. From there, she began to blame me for the damage because I had previously dyed my hair and had not taken proper care of it. She said that I would be supplied with products at a discounted price (didn't help since in total I only got a travel size conditioner and shampoo for around 50 extra dollars). Which brings me to my next point. I had to pay. My hairdresser told me that "since the colour and products were used", she still had to charge me full price. Which came to over $200. Unfortunately there was nothing for me to do but go home because my hair was in shock. So they sent me out, after I gave them over $250 with hair that had melted into a an almost plastic substance or fallen off. I walked a block and then broke down crying on the street. I had to walk home, being a student without a car. I ended up having to shave my head. Not that there was much hair left anyway. I also had to purchase a wig (real hair wigs cost around $600). I called the shampoo bar back and told them that I was upset that I was charged for this whole scenario. The manager told me that nothing could be done, but I would get a free haircut. Fantastic. I'd just have to wait for my hair to grow back, which was difficult because I had damage to my hair follicles. I've never seen a company care less about what happened to a customer of theirs. Its been almost a year now. I have difficulty trusting anyone with my hair. Although it is vain of me, it is still hard to think about. I've never felt more abused or taken advantage of as a paying customer.

thought I'd give this place a chance, tried to get my hair fixed due to another salon messing my hair up, but my stylist who supposedly trained in New York completely wrecked it. I have lines where it's supposed to be faded. normally it fades smoothly, not choppy or looking like lines. I will be wearing a hat for a couple of weeks thanks. ps. It took several years of me floating around town to the various salons to find someone who was actually skilled and really cared about doing a proper cut (I have left many salons with uneven hair, and/or long strands of uncut hair behind my ears) ...so when I got the news that I'd have to find a new stylist...I was pretty panicked. I decided to try Shampoo Hair Bar because they had several good google reviews, and they seemed very big on regular education and workshops for their stylists...a good indication that the salon is run properly. Sure enough, my first appointment with Marylou was a big success on the first try. I went from very long hair, to a clean cut medium style...and everywhere I go, I get compliments from everyone.
