I loved Salon De elephant. Booked an appointment with Karen and she was fantastic. She took the time to understand my expectations and make helpful recommendations. The place is clean and filled with beautiful plants. They've included some nice touches to make your experience great such as providing a hot towel and massage during the hair wash and the option to order from a bunch of herbal teas. Big thank you to Karen for the wonderful job done. Would definitely recommend this place.

It's hard to find a hairdresser that knows how to handle my thick wavy hair. So I was pleasantly surprised when they not only gave me a great haircut suited to my style but also provided tips on how to maintain the look. Each haircut comes with a wash & scalp massage, and you can even grab a coffee on your way out. Lastly, I want to note that all the staff are very friendly and accommodating.

My hair is thick and wavy so getting a cut that suits my hair type can be a challenge, but I was completely happy with this cut and I will definitely be coming back.

My favorite and only hair salon. Love the salon, it is very inviting and comfortable. The staff are ALWAYS amazing and friendly, greeting you, taking your coat, making you comfortable, always given a hot towl and menu for drinks. I love their hot rose tea. Comfortable space, good taste in Spotify playlists, and best of all, excellent service! Every stylist I've been to has been so patient and thorough. They never rush, even when I'm one of the last people in the salon getting my hair coloured and styled dangerously close to closing time. I like that the stylists explain the steps of their game plan and check in to see if you're okay at each stage. I've gotten my hair bleached and coloured quite a few times, and it's still miraculously in tact and relatively good condition. Kudos to their skills!

This review was meant to be posted before Covid: I loved how everyone was very friendly towards me and I got exactly what I needed. It was an amazing experience for $50. Although it may seem pricy, it’s worth while after your haircut.

My favourite salon, which I have frequented for almost 10 years now. This is definitely where a lot of talented and nice hairstylists work. The owners Kelvin and Karen put a lot of love and care into every single work they do, and I'm proud to say I've been coming to them since they had a tiny salon further north up on Yonge. I have very difficult hair, and finding people like this (Niki is another absolute sweetheart) is such a godsend. I love this salon to bits and would recommend it to everyone. In fact, I just found out that a number of my stylish colleagues actually DO go here. That's more support for how good these guys are.

Had an amazing experience! It’s always hard finding salon that makes you feel comfortable and fits with you. Karen, one of the Creative Directors, did my hair and I’ve never been happier. She was very friendly and communicated and listened well to get the exact cut I wanted. Everything was done with detail and reassurance with every step. The head massage they give during hair washing is a-m-a-z-i-n-g too! The assistant who helped was also super friendly and did my hair wash. The first time I came to this salon in 2015, I instantly loved everything about it! The staff are immensely kind and welcoming. Over the years I've branched out just to see what else is out there in Toronto in terms of hairstylists and colourists, but after my first haircut with Karen, the creative director, in late 2018, I know I'll be coming back here indefinitely. She cut and styled my blunt bob EXACTLY the way I wanted, and she is just once of the nicest, most down-to-earth people. I've also gotten my hair coloured here a few times (on their Monday "model" nights – would highly recommend!) and I ALWAYS receive compliments, even once my colour starts fading. Apart from the excellent and professional service and the fact that they always give you the hair you want, it's such a great experience to just be there. the atmosphere is high-class, but at the same time so down to earth and homely. it's full of cute things so as you look around you're interested by so many things. Had my haircut today with Michael and I am very happy with the results. I showed him a picture of the haircut I wanted and he did it while keeping in mind my hair texture and lifestyle. I have very thick hair and he was very patient and offered advice for styling and maintenance. Everyone had a mask on and physically distanced customers. Hands have to washed before sitting down and hand sanitizer was available throughout the salon. They also sanitize the card machine before use which I thought was nice.

Really kind and friendly staff and very careful with sanitization protocols. I had Niki and she’s super nice and does exactly what you want. The only reason for 4/5 is because I generally like to have hair stylists advice and I found that I had to give a lot of direction about what to do and how to cut my hair. So you either need a lot of very specific pictures or you need to know exactly what you want and be willing to give direct communication. I’m satisfied with my cut

I had a great experience with Michael Wong! He was super friendly and I am very happy with my new haircut! When I arrived the first thing we did was sit down and talk about what I wanted to achieve that day. I showed him some photos of the haircut I wanted and we discussed what would look best on me. He really listened to my concerns and gave me some advice for my hair. Michael delivered great service and did a great job cutting my hair. I highly recommend him!

Really nice experience here. Hot towel on arrival, someone takes your coat. They have a kind of cafe if youd like a drink for a reasonable price. Calvin was my stylist, he did a fantastic job. I really like my cut. My only issue was I asked to donate 8inches of hair they cut 12 inches off. Then he cut another couple inches off what was left on my head. I asked to keep my hair as long as possible so alittle disspointed with the length but like I said the cut was great. He did a good job. Also the hair washing lady did a fantastic job, very relaxing.

After 4 months, I finally got my haircut last week. A new experience that I don't get shampoo and blow-dry service, I had to wash my hair before I go there. I actually don't mind it at all, instead I really appreciate that they are being responsible and put safety of customers and stuffs as priority. As a long-time customer, I can't praise enough about their service and expertise. They got even more respect from me in this pandemic.

Nice atmosphere and service, but have to say I am not satisfied with the haircut itself. The hair stylist who did mine seemed not skilled enough to figure out what needs to be done with my hair. Even though I went there two days later for a makeup trimming after I found that on the inside a lot of hair is still longer than that on the outside, she didn’t seem to manage it properly. I know she’s tried her best, but honestly I won’t go next time. ☹️

What a wonderful experience. I got an opportunity to go in and bleach & tone my hair after Stage 2 was announced. I scheduled my hair appointment with Niki. She was nice enough to do a consultation the week before and was very honest with what needs to be done and the prices. Niki was super professional and did so well with my hair. She managed to shorten the bleaching process (from originally 4 to 2) and toned my hair with my desired colour. I definitely want to thank Niki. She was so professional and personable at the same time. I had a lot of fun talking to her. Karen was also super friendly. I really liked the atmosphere even though there was covid restrictions. I already set another appointment to re-tone my hair. Thanks to everyone for that wonderful experience (also liked the song selection too).

Salon de elephant is definitely where you’d want to go for your hair services. Karen and Calvin really knows how to take care of their customers and their team, all the stylists and supports are friendly and full of smiles every time I visit. I feel happy going to my appointment and leave even happier :) They take the time to understand what you need and ensures that you have the most comfortable experience every time. They also support local musicians on Sundays, and offer a space for young musicians to have a space to provide live music for 3 hours. They have also been trained to offer tasty coffee! High recommend it :)

Haven't cut my hair in 3 years and finally did because it was crazy long. I went here as a recommendation from my friends that have gotten their haircuts here and they loved it. I too loved it. I didn't book ahead of time, I just walked in and the staff made me feel so welcomed-very hospitable people. They also offered me a drink menu if I wanted anything to drink as I got my hair cut. Within the time I got to the salon and when I got the drink menu, they were able to get me a stylist. Kanae was my stylist and she cut my hair exactly how I wanted it???? This is a long review but I’m so impressed I have to say a lot! Came here for the first time today and it was incredible. It felt like a hidden, upscale spa in there. The staff are all so friendly and warm—took my jacket right away, offered a drink menu. Lovely spot to sit while you wait for your appointment, the whole place is very earthy and calming. I got a scalp treatment from Shiho, she gave me an incredible massage and a hot towel. Felt so nice that I wanted to fall asleep and she was so friendly. Then Andrea cut my hair. My hair looks so great and healthy, I think I look ten years younger from the shine and cut. She also taught me different ways to style it because I have trouble dealing with my curls and frizz. This is definitely my new place!

As a first time client, my hair was long and thin and asked them to trim it for me. They did an excellent job layering my long hair and also gave me a cute bang. i don't know how how this place has a 4.7 rating. i got a cut with karen on purpose because i assumed she would be the most experienced. told her i wanted dramatic layers. showed her a couple pictures. she hardly did any layers at all. i kept telling her i wanted more layers and she basically kept shutting me down LOL. she told me to wait to see if im good with these layers for a month and then to come back and do more if i'm not happy with it. i then asked if i would then have to pay again and she said yes. LIKE JUST DO IT NOW THEN??? anyway. she did nothing. and charged $80 for it. also - i came here because of all the good reviews. i'm convinced they hire people to post these reviews cause this was such a poor experience. would give 0 stars if i could. don't waste your money

I've had some trouble finding a reliable hair stylist since I moved to Toronto and am so glad I finally gave Salon de elephant a try! The salon itself is very professional, cute, and clean and it has a lot of personality. The staff are super nice and approachable. I had my hair cut by Niki Chen and she was amazing! She was gentle, detailed, and thorough and gave me exactly what I wanted. It was one of the best haircuts/salon experiences I've ever had and I'll definitely be going back again!

Nice to be back, impressed to see the extra safety measures put in place by the owner and the staff. It is obvious that they have significantly reduced the number of appointments for customer safety, since the salon used to be packed with full house everytime I was there prior to the pandemic. After three months without haircut, my hair looked like a mess and was very dry. Karen was patient and professional as always, so focused even with a stuffy mask on. Loved my haircut so much, gave me an immediate change of mood after. Still my favorite hair salon of all time, good luck with reopening guys!

Lovely experience. Place was clean. For COVID protocol, they have you wait outside until you appointment time (they were right on time). When you enter, they ask you to wash your hands before sitting down in the chair. Clients were spaced out well. All staff and clients wore masks. I had some odd things going on with my hair and was looking for the stylist to give me advice. Karen was fantastic. She asked all the right questions, which put me at ease. She suggested appropriate products for me but was not in the least bit pushy about it. Ayumi gave me a relaxing hair wash. They asked me if I was comfortable with it beforehand due to COVID. Everyone there was very professional and friendly. Atmosphere was welcoming. Pricing was reasonable given the level of experience and location of the salon. Several of my family recommended that I give the salon a try and I am glad that I did. I have not had a regular hair stylist because I was never that impressed by any of the ones I tried. I will definitely be returning to see Karen though.

I always look forward to my haircuts every month as its also a place for me to escape the daily grind. The hair wash, scalp treatment and conversations are delightful and relaxing. 10/10 would recommend the scalp treatment.

Got a great haircut here. I had been avoiding a haircut for a long time, partially because of the pandemic and partially because I have had too many bad haircuts. I had nothing to worry about today - COVID protocols were in place and it is good to know all staff are vaccinated, plus I liked my haircut. Arisa was nice and very attentive to detail. She gave her thoughts but always made sure to listen, and managed to give me exactly what I wanted-- a low maintenance cut that suits my thick and wavy hair. The hair wash and massage was also relaxing. The styling wasn't the greatest but I did ask for it to be styled natural and rarely can they do it. I normally don't get my hair styled but it was cold out! I will probably just ask for it to be straightened or curled next time if coming in the winter. Will be back!

I've had my hair cut twice now with Andrea, as I noticed on the website that she specializes in long hair cuts. She is really professional and did a great job both times! I also have done a hair treatment and scalp treatment with her that turned out well and both times she also gave great massages. The tea and towel service at the salon add to the overall calm and relaxing ambience of the salon and I appreciate that this is a green sustainable salon. This is now my go-to salon.
