Great talented hairstylist, reasonable cost. My hair used to look so dry and dead because I constantly home dye my hair. This picture was recently taken a few days ago, cut and blow-dried. Thanks to Maria my hair looks so much more healthier, shiny & stronger than before. Love her work. Great with cutting & styling thick Asian hair. Also resourceful about hair treatment oils & masks for certain hair types. I would 100% recommend Maria!

This salon is a gem! I would say personally because Leila is here. Therefore, she's a gem. I am meticulous when it comes to hair because of past experiences (paying a lot but ended up dissatisfied with my hair, not the correct cut, damaged my hair, etc). As a result, I've got some trust issues regardless if a salon/hairstylist has fantastic reviews. Before going to Centrestage, I read reviews of Leila and I was kinda doubtful but for some reason I just went to see her. I got there at a perfect time as it wasn't that busy. Went in for a haircut with a quarantine nightmare for their walk-in special, and happened to meet Leila as the stylist on-duty. Within 10 seconds of being in the chair, she noticed my hair was damaged. My hair isn't very obviously damaged because it's been so long since I've had the magic straight perms done to my hair, but she could see the damage they caused right away. (I have naturally curly hair, but Korean culture, y'know what I mean? ????) Not only did she understand HOW curly hair worked (the number of stylists I've met who don't like working or don't know how to work with curly hair jfc), but she provides a lot of options. Obviously, she needs to make a business, so she suggests a lot of stuff, but they're never useless to the client, and she pairs it with free advice on just how to manage your hair to keep it healthy. She tailors specifically to the client, which is probably the big reason why I'll go back. She also recommended a hair mask that actually works, like what? ???? Also, if you're looking for someone who can hair botox, she's your gal.

Had big hopes for this place, especially after all the wonderful reviews, and maybe it was just my unlucky day but this was one of the worst haircuts and dyes that I've ever had done. (See pictures) I came in and told the stylist that I just wanted a trim, something that I could grow into and wouldn't have to have maintained. She told me that I should add some colour to my hair to give it "dimension" so I said sure! I'm not opposed to giving my hair some low maintenance colour. She did the colour first (dropped a huge gob of hair dye on my shoe and wiped it up for me after I pointed it out), washed it out and I was in shock by how light it had turned out (I typically have light brown hair) but the streaks turned out this orange brassy colour, white blonde and yellow blonde with hints of dark brown... (for dimension?). Then came the cut. No words needed for how crooked and uneven, unblended it turned out. The whole time she was saying how I'd love her for her work etc and then she said that if I didn't like it then don't leave a bad review "because if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all". The whole experience was shocking. In her defense maybe she didn't mean it in a bad way or was joking but I feel like you shouldn't say that to a first time client in either case. I got home and was so upset I messaged her asking if she could fix it but cancelled because I didn't feel i could trust her to fix it if it was messed up this bad by her in the first place. I went somewhere else and fixed it (way better and cost way less than what they charged for cut and colour correction). This was a few months ago and I'm STILL maintaining this mess up. If this is a style that you would go for then that's totally fair... but this was not what I wanted - paid WAY too much for it and have been fixing it since then.

There is so much to say about this place and hairdressers where do I even begin? So its been the pandemic for a while now, and I have been avoiding places like the plague so I kind of look like some wild untamed animal that emerged out of the jungle after 17 months of exile. I heard good things of this place from friends and decided to give it a go, and man were the talks true! from the friendly environment to service provided. everything was top notch! I would like to point out one particular stylist that worked with me: v v MARIA ^ ^ Immediately my initial interaction with her has been nothing but a delight! She was extremely personable and professional! she had such an upbeat vibe and was able to connect with me instantly making the whole interaction very comfortable. Price point was very reasonable for the quality of work provided, time and effort put in. Huge TIPS for her!! She put care and effort into my haircut that was second to none! It was perfect too because I had a job interview the following day and I can tell you that I now work at the firm! it really goes a long way showing the amount of skills Maria had to pull that off, not only is she just styling my hair, she also help put an impact on my life bettering myself! Overall, I think I found myself my forever stylist; Maria!! I can confidently say that I will frequenting that business for as long as Maria is working there!!

If a client comes and says I'm not happy with my hair cut and needs some fixing, the least they could of done is fix the hair cut to make the client happy... It doesn't matter who cut the hair it's just a fixing.

I truly believe in following your hairdresser/stylist/colourist to where ever they may be. I, for one, have been seeing, and following, Leila for almost two decades! (Most marriages that don’t last that long, and we all know not to cheat on our hair stylists, it would be harder than cheating on a spouse, HA!) She’s also a pleasure to just talk to. Salon also has an esthetician/nail tech, that offers mani/pedi, waxing, facials etc. It’s convenient whether you drive or use transit, as the subway stops right at the City Centre, and the salon is a quick walk, up the escalator, towards the back (west end.) Normally, if I don’t have a specific idea in mind, I tell Leila to do whatever she wants, and I always love it! Learned a good lesson this weekend! Never cheat on your hairstylist, especially your hair stylish of 25 years! So my dear hairstylist Leila moved to the upscale Centrestage Hair Design recently. It’s a bit further away from my home than her previous location, so contrary to better judgement, I decided to go to another hairstylist yesterday. Bad decision! Today, less than 24 hours later I’m sitting in Leila’s chair at Centrestage Hair Design having my excessively blonde hair fixed. The blonde was supposed to be highlights but my whole hair ended up blonde after getting “ my roots touched up” at the other place. Leila has saved me from ridicule and embarrassment by kindly “fixing the mess”, Shame on me for cheating. Leila even came into work early to accommodate me. Leila is so lovely, kind and forgiving. i have been going to Centrestage for a couple of years now and i have to say its one of my favorite salons to go to. at the beginning of my dreadlock journey i needed to find someone who would be willing to deal with how precise and careful you have to be when cutting my hair. making sure the sections of my locks dont get cut is super important. Very disappointed with the hair cut I had today. I specifically asked Farah to be sure my ears were covered with my hair. I wear glasses and can not really see myself in the mirror when I am sitting in the hair dressers chair. My hair is WAY too short and not even close to the style I was happy with. I have a different experience compare to everyone I think Leila just thinned out my hair and made it feel like its even more thin. The sides are bad and the shape is odd. I do not feel work ready. I dont think I got good value and arent you supposed to wash product out of hair to get a more accurate depiction of hair length/thickness. She skipped the wash.
