To start off, I would like to mention that prior to Voila salon I had been trying out different hair salons in Kitchener, Waterloo and Guelph, with little luck. About a year ago I went to Voila salon uptown Waterloo for the first time. My experience there was wonderful from the start, and I have been coming back ever since. The staff is extremely friendly and professional. They always make sure to greet the customers entering the salon and offer a beverage (which are seasonal and always tasty!). I also really enjoy the complimentary hand massage that is offered while I am getting my haircut, it just takes the whole experience to a new level. However, the main reason I keep coming back here is my stylist Sarah, who is absolutely the best. She has amazing skills, is very attentive to my needs and her professional opinion is always on point. I loved every single haircut she has given me. I haven't worked with any of the other stylists at the salon but observing their work with other customers I believe that they are highly skilled as well. My search for the perfect salon is officially over!

Voila on King Street S seems pricey if you're looking for "a haircut," but the quality of service is definitely worth the price! The salon was very easy to find. It is very spacious, tidy and clean. The staff are professional and knowledgeable. Emily was eager to answer all of my questions about getting a perm and explained the difference between my desired outcome versus the anticipated outcome. She was super accommodating when I decided to change my appointment from a perm to colour! Rachel was very thorough - she informed me of all the products she was using during my haircut, and showed them to me afterwards. Be wary of parking - there are only about 10 spots around the salon!

Voila has been our go-to for years. The service is impeccable. There are 3 locations - The Uptown Waterloo location has the best vibe in an old house on King at Union. They hire quality stylists, and my better half is a repeat customer for waxing, manis and pedis. Friendly reminder calls, and coffee or tea while you wait. Stylists start at $45 and go up in $5 grades to 70 or 75, so you can tailor your price level. Men are charged the same as women, so it can be a bit steep in comparison - but hair is one of the few ways men have to exhibit our own style, so don't cheap out on yourself! I've followed 2 Voila stylists to their new locations - they're that good.

I saw Sarah at Voila Uptown after another high end salon did a botched hair colour on me. Sarah was able to fix my hair, and I am so much happier with the colour. She also used Olaplex in my hair which helped keep my hair feeling healthy despite all the processing it went through in a week. Sarah is really nice and I would recommend her to anyone, especially if you need someone to work a miracle on your hair like how I did. I look forward to my next visit. Voila also has a nice atmosphere, and they always offer special drinks and hand massages to their guests.

Honestly this is the best place I’ve ever been to in my entire life. The service is unbelievable. Everyone is so friendly and kind. This is my third time being here. Caitlin has been my stylist from the start. She’s beautiful and flawless, witch to me means a lot, she takes really good care of her self so I’ve always been confident she will make me beautiful to ???? her assistant Gabriel “gab” is a heart throb, he’s funny, and so attractive and has the kind of personality that makes you feel special and confident, he’s styled my hair a few times and I trust his opinion and considering I’m envious of his style and looks I always trust him with my own! Thanks to Voila I have gained so much confidence and feel good when I look in the mirror ♥️ They truly care about their clients care here. I always get complimentary hand massages and beverages ( not that any of that matters, it’s just an added bonus ) I recomme this place to all my patients at my job when they compliment my hair, and if they ask my opinion on where to go! This place hands down is the best! Ask for Caitlin and Gab ♥️ As per my personal recommendation but I can say with all certainty anyone here would dazzle you.

Amazing service, the head massage and wash was relaxing, Sarah (who is so awesome!) is very careful with how you want your hair to look like, the environment is beautiful, and it comes with complementary drinks and makeup touch-up all for an extremely reasonable price. Definitely recommend it.

I have had very terrible experiences at many salons ranging from low to high end so I was very weary about having my hair done after almost 7 years. When I arrived I was greeting and offered water, then when it came time for my appointment my stylist Brooke took me to a quiet private room to discuss my wants and needs. It was the first time I felt like my stylist was really engaged in what I wanted and gave realistic expectations. Brooke only has 2.5 hours for me as it was a last minute appointment but somehow made my hair dreams come true! She worked so hard and kept the integrity of my hair even when using bleach. It was an amazing experience and I can’t wait for my next appointment!

This review is long overdue! I went to Voila Salon Uptown during my undergrad (about 5 years) and my go-to girl was always Lisa! She did everything, from chopping off my hair for donations to my first colouring experience! My visits were always fun, comfortable and enjoyable! Since I've moved away, I miss the Voila team dearly and I will always highly recommend this location to anyone looking to get their hair done in KW!

I’ve come here twice so far to get a balayage and trim and makayla did an exceptional job both times! As a niqaabi/hijaabi they were so welcoming and accommodating , they gave me a seperate room where I could get my hair done. Makayla is extremely knowledgeable and answered all my questions regarding different hair dyes! Yesterday was my first appointment. I was just getting a haircut and no colour. I met with Sarah who took the time to find out what I had in mind and what her thoughts were. I gave her full control of my hair. First she shampooed and I enjoyed a nice head massage! Then, while she was cutting my hair, I received a complimentary hand massage! I had never had this at any other salon before! I was very impressed! One thing that impressed my was that Sarah also did some cutting of my hair DRY and NO THINNING SHEARS; I have wavy hair and this is a bonus for me!! Sarah actually CUT my hair and it feels amazing!! After my haircut, Sarah walked me to the front where she treated me to a complimentary makeup touch-up! She gave me a little tour of their Beauty Bar and a coupon for my next visit! I explained to them that I was on a student budget and I was not pressured AT ALL to do colour, highlights or any other treatment which I really appreciated. I highly recommend this location to anyone and everyone! The staff was professional and friendly from beginning to end!

Okay so probably the best hair cut I've received ever. Emily was my stylist. She welcomed me with iced tea, took me on a tour of the salon and explained all their lovely services. She's very knowledgeable about different hair types. I have thick hair and wanted to reduce the heaviness and dead ends of the bottom. She completely understood what I wanted! ???? I'm very happy with the results. The haircut also happened during a complimentary hand massage and there was a head massage during the wash as well ????. Awesome salon! I felt pampered from the moment I walked in - I arrived early and the receptionist took my coat and served some delicious tea while I waited. The stylist Brooke took me on time and she was excellent throughout my visit! I loved the coffee scented shampoo, scalp massage, and later, the hand massage. She was sweet and kind and took her time cutting and styling my hair with beautiful curls. I never felt rushed like at other salons in the past. Thanks for an awesome experience! I always think a lot before giving a negative review. But after my today’s experience here, I have no choice but to write this review. I had called in to book an appointment today at 3.45 pm for a haircut. I called in a few minutes early to check if the hairstylist is available as I didn’t want to go inside the salon and wait in case they are running behind the schedule. So what I hear from them is to that I have no appointment booked at all for today in the uptown location. I was surprised and the lady on the phone said she would transfer my call to another location thinking I booked an appointment elsewhere (seriously!!! I know I booked it in the right location). When I said i booked it here at this location and at the time, they ask me to come inside the salon to check if there is any availability for the haircut. I go in and another lady checks their list and informs me that the appointment is booked for tomorrow. When I am very confident I booked the appointment for today. I am very very disappointed as I had leave without a haircut.

I booked an appointment today and was able to get my haircut the same day! Impressive! Evelyn was available at that time and she did my hair. I haven’t been in a salon in years and I’m glad I came here! Evelyn the stylist cut my hair, we talked about things, I find her very accommodating and friendly! At first I was like, she cut only a few here and there, didn’t take so long cuz I asked for layered haircut, and she said let’s blow dry my hair and see if I need anymore adjustment after, I thought I’ll be disappointed but She really did a great job with my hair espc with how she blow dried and washed my hair I almost fell asleep! ???? Update: please be advised that the beauty bar prices have doubled for a lot of services post covid. Won’t be returning 2017: I have been looking for a place to get a good facial and brow treatment (wax+tint) but was unwilling to, let’s say, kiss the toads and try my way through all the spas. I get my hair done at voila and decided to try the uptown location. I was welcomed with a soothing cup of tea and taken to the esthetic area. It was, as with the rest of the spa, impeccably clean and well decorated. I chose the rituals facial and the esthetician, Chrissy, was very friendly and really good at what she does. She also listened to me and then did exactly what I requested with my brows and they turned out even better than expected. Finished with a complimentary hair wash and style and left feeling super relaxed and great! Tl;dr great service, efficient and friendly staff, super clean and well decorated area. Also good prices and promos! Update: my facial lasted for literally the first day and my skin went back to normal right after that. A little disappointed but the service was good. Update 2: Went back multiple times afterwards and Chrissy is amazing. Not only does she spend time making sure everything looks perfect, she always remembers little details about previous visits no matter how long it’s been

I asked 3 simple things and got none. Don't cut it above this point, layer it in the back, layer it in the front staring from my chin. I told her that I didn't have the confidence to cut my hair too short since it's been long for such a long time. Such simple requests. And she was a senior hair stylist. She cut it shorter than I wanted, and didn't layer it anywhere! It was done so fast and I was lead out so quickly that I didn't realize my hair was nothing like I asked for until I was outside. She didn't even take a minute to show it to me and ask if the length she was going to cut was okay, which everyone I've ever been to always does. I honestly don't get it, she just cut my hair however she wanted in the simplest, the most plain looking shape possible. I'm not going back. I understand that this is a busy time and you want to get things done quickly but, oh my God, a girl's hair affects their confidence, just say you're not available if you can't do it right.

This was my first time at Voila after years of hearing how great it is. I was referred to Lisa Dang after having my waist-length hair cut into a Pixie. The whole experience was pleasant and professional. I was greeted warmly, and given a nice place to sit and wait (I was early). I was offered drinks and they also have a snack bar. Lisa came to get me at my exact appointment time. We did a consultation, then she washed my hair. She gave me a scalp massage with both shampoo and conditioner. It was so great. Lisa is a pleasant conversationalist and she did a great job with my hair. It is four weeks since having it cut and it still behaves. For someone who just 'met' my hair, that is impressive. While having my hair cut, I was also given a hand massage. Lisa finished my cut in the exact amount of time I was told it would take, and it cost exactly the amount I was told it would cost. I was able to schedule my next two appointments with Lisa before i left, and was able to get in when I want to. I highly recommend Lisa and Voila.

Overpriced hair services for mediocre skills. Better off going to a random salon in Toronto. They are charging like they are an upscale Toronto salon but they lack the talent of one. Probably only has high ratings from lack of competition in waterloo. The girl who did my hair didn't even know what a blowout was. How do you do hair for a living and not know what that is?? My hair style turned out tacky. My friend recently did a baylage here for 300+ dollars for uneven colour because two people did her head and they did not time it correctly (right, left and back side all different shades of blonde). They made her sign a waver beforehand so she can't complain now! Sketchy.. I have been blonde for 3 years going to different salons in different cities. I have never signed a waver ever. This shows the lack of confidence they have in their skills. I was not going to write a review about my experience until I saw my friend's hair. She will spend 400 dollars extra now trying to fix it elsewhere.

I have been going to Voila Salons for 10 plus years. I have always enjoyed their service and professionalism. The standard of care has been consistent over the years whether I have gone to Uptown or Northgate. Last week I went to get a hair cut - I specifically told the stylist, Kari, that I only wanted a trim as I was growing out my hair. When the cut was over I simply stated that she cut off more than I would have liked. At this point, Kari proceeded to pick up hair off the floor, place it in her hand and tell me, "I only cut off this much." I remained calm and was speechless. I felt I was being accosted. She then told me, "Don't go all mental on me." Wow. I was frustrated, embarrassed, very uncomfortable, and felt almost abused and bullied. Yet, I still left Kari a tip as I was so confused as to what happened. I will never go back to Voila again as this type of behaviour is inexcusable. Thinking about it even days later and speaking to my friends and family about this incident leaves me bewildered. This type of behaviour, especially during such challenging times, should not be tolerated.

I had the pleasure of coming across this spa through Google maps and though I didn't look into the reviews and went by what my gut advised I must say I was in for a pleasant surprise. I was given an appointment of my preference and taken care of in every possible way. A brief introduction of the spa was followed by my options in terms of cut and color and services available. Erin, the wonderful woman who guided me with my decision on hairstyles is very knowledgeable and honest and gave me a clear picture of the pros and cons. The price is pretty reasonable as well and I would highly recommend this spa.

This is the best salon I've ever been to, period. They offer tea, coffee, and delicious seasonal drinks. I asked for Lisa for a cut and colour and I couldn't be any happier with the results. I got exactly what I envisioned (a cut to give me more volume and the perfect shade of ash brown for my hair) and more. She was fun to talk to, always made sure I was comfortable and confirmed what I wanted done every step of the way. I highly recommend her and I'm sure the rest of the stylists are just as wonderful!

I am giving a 3 star for the overall feeling and friendliness of staff, not for what services I received. During my eyebrow waxing, a section of my eyebrow was waxed off. My manicure lasted about a day before it chipped, and my pedicure was sub par. My feet felt great don't get me wrong, but my nails did not look great. unevenly cut and filed, I ended up cutting some of them myself when I got home. Will not be returning to this location.

I was very unhappy with the colour and cut I got here. I had to come back again to have it fixed by another stylist. My haircut was uneven. My colour not even close to what I asked for. The second time my haircut was good but my blonde was orange. Spoke to the owner on the phone and she said that as far as she is concerned I got a "great deal" since i paid once but had everything done twice! The third time I went to a Milton salon and got a proper colour. I have been going there ever since.

Great experience! My previous hair colour (which I had done myself) was fixed expertly. The red tones were neutralized with a toner and the result is beautiful! Before I went to Voila, my hair was difficult to comb. Since having a hair treatment at Voila, I can comb straight through my long hair from top to bottom. My hair is the healthiest it's been in many years. I loved the scalp massage and hand massage too -- very relaxing.

She is honestly an amazing hairstylist, I got a haircut here and I asked for a "U shaped hair cut" she gave me exactly what I wanted and took out my dead ends while maintaining the length of my hair. She made me feel very welcomed and she was beyond kind throughout the entire process. Not only that, she did an incredible job on my hair! I love it. I will also point out that just about every employee at the salon was SUPER nice and welcoming.. from the moment you step in until you leave the door. Keep up the great work ladies. I went here for nearly 4 years - my stylist was amazing and the vibe of the salon was great, everyone was friendly. This summer I had a devastating scalp burn during a highlight treatment. While I wasn't charged for that service, I never heard from the owners regarding the issue. My stylist was very apologetic and I did return for my follow-up haircut 2 months later, however the owner's failure to handle the situation compassionately has led me to look for a different salon.

I've only had wonderful experiences here. When you walk in, you are always warmly welcomed by the amazing staff. Everyone who works there is very attentive, and kind, and want to make your time there enjoyable. I always get offered a complementary drink, which is always a treat. They pride themselves on being environmentally conscious, and use products that are natural, and have less impact the environment. The staff have great communication, and such a positive and good attitude about everything. They are also very open about there pricing, and will give you a breakdown of how much certain things will cost, and other options if need be. They will never make you feel embarrassed about asking. My particular favorite, is Lisa. She is an incredible person, and she has amazing skills. She is always clear, and straightforward, and the result is always spectacular. When you talk to her, it feels very natural. He head massages are also out of this world. My best friend and I have been going to Lisa for years now, and we have never had anything less than amazing. Lisa will be my forever stylist, but with such a strong team of stylists? I wouldn't hesitate to go to someone else either. I admire how much they act together as a team, to assure there clients are more than satisfied. Pros: Strong Team environment, beautiful and comfortable atmosphere, skilled and professional stylists, environmentally friendly products, and you always leave beautiful. Cons: You wont want to leave :)
