My boyfriend just got a cut and a beard trim from a woman at the Shaving Mug. She was extremely rude to us. She did a very sloppy job of the cut and the beard trim, somehow filled his shoes with hair and left many spots around his beard untouched. 0/10 would not recommend.

Love this place alway feel welcomed there and every haircut I get is done precisely and delicately. I honestly always look forward to going there because not only are the staff professional and kind and knowledgeable but the treat you right. Our little guy is 4 and his previous hairdressing experience wasn't the greatest. Dexter did an amazing job making him feel comfortable and accommodated him perfectly. He did not want to sit in the kids chair, he wanted to sit in a big chair. Dexter took his time and worked around all the flinching and laughter come the end. Dexter also cuts my spouses hair and does it perfectly to my liking. I will only bring my boys here.

Very disappointed. It is 2018 and these people still go by a clause stated from 40 YEARS ago! I called and asked about getting a hair tattoo. Which they stated on the phone they did. However when they found out it was for myself (female) I was refused service because I am a female. Which being in 2018 you think that wouldn’t be a thing anymore. They referred me to go to their female salon in which I called and they told me they DO NOT have the equipment to do a hair tattoo. So I brought my business elsewhere. Would not recommend them for anyone.

We have to cross town to get to this place but every time I make the effort to go, I'm incredibly pleased. I have 4 boys and I cut their hair for the most part, but sometimes I don't have the time and my oldest (14) has really difficult hair to cut. Every time, no matter which girl does the cut, the work is swift, polished & well done. They really listen to you and try to give you the look you want with the hair you have. They take their time to clean up their work too. A lot of places (*cough* first choice *cough*) hack away & leave you with a choppy, hacked at, zero blending result that needs a couple weeks to "fill in" LOL! Our experience with The Shaving Mug, is that they take the time to clean up their end result and focus on the details so you have a very finished, clean result. I just took my oldest in for another cut today, no appointment, we were served very quickly, the cut was done quickly and with precision. I paid $25, it included tax and tip.

My husband just got his hair cut here. He complained about how long it took for the cut, the woman didn’t do the cut he asked for (he guided her through it because she wasn’t getting it). And it was sooooo crooked! What a mess. Uneaven all over, patchy on the sides where she used the clippers so you can see skin in some areas but not others. It’s too short to go somewhere else to fix so he’ll have to wait until it grows out before doing anything about it. :( I was so excited that he got a haircut after 4 months of winter and was super disapointed in the turnout. It actually made him grumpy all morning because he didn’t like how it looked :( I phoned for a refund. The woman was very polite and kind about it, and accepted a refund without a problem. On that note he did mention that he has had a good haircut here before from another woman.. maybe it’s all about who you get?

I’ve had my hair done by Dexter before and I was so impressed with his work that I brought my son to him at the shaving mug. My son is a year old and with it being his first time in an actual barber shop I was worried with how his experience would be. Dexter was so professional and made sure my son was comfortable every step of the way. He was patient and precise. His cut was exactly what I wanted and he even taught me how to style it. I highly recommend his services!

Really excellent service. Very helpful, patient, professional staff. The place also has a really great atmosphere. It feels like kind of a classy old school barbershop. Make sure you schedule an appointment, but you don't have to schedule very far in advance. It's a matter of a few hours notice. I usually book in same day with no issues.
