Pros: Overall great experience and extreme value for money. Their Instagram and online reservation were both very responsive and helpful. I made a reservation for soft hair rebonding with a graduate stylist, whom I later found out was currently working as a stylist at a Kimage outlet. Service and quality was great, not rushed, didn't take too long either - the stylist was just asked a few questions by a teacher before beginning. Note that rebonding service is inclusive of hair trim at the end (to even out your hair ends, at no additional charge) Extremely value for money, have highly recommended to friends. Cons (-1 star): When I arrived at the hair studio, the older lady at the cashier wanted to charge me $91 instead of the $68 (rebonding by graduate) which I had made a reservation for. I questioned why and said I only wanted rebonding & nothing else, and she almost seemed to insist it came in a package (rebonding + haircut + treatment - according to her). I saw no such package on the site, and even had to show her the $68 price point on the website on my phone. She then seemed to backtrack her words and ask if I didn't want treatment (+$23) anymore, despite me never having requested for it to begin with. If she had wanted to upsell & include the treatment (or for the benefit of doubt, perhaps it usually comes together - in that case they should state clearly in person, or on their website) , I would preferred if she simply asked in the beginning, rather than immediately charging me the price inclusive without clarifying why and what (before I asked). It took me by surprise and made my experience unpleasant - if not for the great service afterwards.

Been coming here for my haircuts for about 2 years now, I usually dare not random pick a stylist for my hair, but after two cuts from different stylists, they gave me confidence to do that. Haircutting skills are above average, has a rather steady standard among their stylists. Every stylist have something different to offer that cater to your needs. Do give them a try. Cheers.

Went to Kimage school today 10:30am 2nd July and was serviced by stylist graduate Yuan Xin and felt she did a good job on my hair in terms of cutting it to a natural style to the style one wish have after showing her the hairstyle on youtube. Felt she put in efforts and heart when cutting and also during shampoo & blow. Got a graduate cut, wash, blow which was wonderful for just $15! Had to wait 15min despite making an appointment but the wash was super therapeutic, the trim was done well and they even added an extra touch with some hair oil at the end! The uncouth principal was an absolute disgrace to other hair care professionals. A bunch of amateurs at best. Nobody should go through what I had experienced! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

I just wanted a wash and a quick trim. I told the girl and also showed her pictures, also stressed that I wanted an inch off. She could not understand english and decided to chop off 2.5 inches. Very unhappy with the both the cut and the fact that she couldn't listen to instructions. She also didn't ask to clarify, when she did not understand. A very upsetting and excruciating experience. Do not come here if you want to keep the length of your hair.

Went to a salon for the first time ever for a bleach & colour & I really enjoyed it! I was taken through each step & was advised patiently by Monica, who guided me in choosing the right colour to neutralise the yellow undertones in my hair after bleaching. It’s fun to hear how the instructors explain things to the students. Great place for hair colouring & bleaching services if you have the time for it! :-) Note that for bleaching & colouring, you usually have to arrive in the morning at around 10-11AM! I had 1 round of bleaching & colouring at 10:30AM & i left around 3:30PM.

Highly recommended! My haircut and wash was professionally done. Do factor just sightly more time for your session as the students need to get clearance from instructors multiple times. The instructors are always watching closely so there’s always a peace of mind. It’s definitely value for money. The free surgical mask offered at the end of the session was a nice gesture too. I went for the 'shampoo and cut' from a student and I must say that I was extremely impressed by the service and quality of the cut. The hairstylist was very professional and she explained the reasons why she chose to cut my hair in a particular way which will allow it to turn out nicely. She also gave advice on how I could manage my hair better. At the same time, the haircut itself was so comfortable that you could fall asleep during it. I did not manage to get her name, but my hairstylist was a middle-aged woman with short blonde hair. I would really like to extend my praises for her amazing service and professionalism.

Got my haircut done by a student today and I’m very satisfied with the outcome! It’s only $6.20 for a cut+wash+blow and although it took around 1.5h for the entire process, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Can also learn a thing or two when the students seek help from their teachers! Highly recommend!

My hair is completely ruined by the student.. I asked for a trim and ended up having 2 inches of my hair gone. The layering was so horrible that it was thick on the left but too thin on the right. I had to go back to my usual hairdresser afterwards to salvage that horrible haircut. Don't ever try getting a haircut at kimage.. You will definitely regret.

The cost of a student haircut and wash is only $6 and it turned out quiet well for me. The instructor frequently came over to see how the student bwas doing and would occasionally cut a small part herself to show the student. The wash is almost worth $6 itself since it felt so nice. While the haircuts do take longer than normal hair salons, the price for quality is absolutely worth it. You also have to make an appointment.

If you go for the student haircut expect it to be a poor job but you could be lucky to have a really good student. The Teacher isnt always around so dont pin your hopes on that. Otherwise most of the time expect the student to be an aunty to be learning as to pass time that doesnt really listen when u ask them to stop until you violently shake your head.

I didn't get studen's name as she was not wearing a name tag. Very neat haircut. She took her time with care n being very detail checking with her teacher from time to time . This review is just for their Students' haircut. Only go for it if you have 2 hours free in which you expect nothing. You will be subject to a experiment. Thats it. Its not just a compromised haircut , its a waste of time. Better pay more and I guess the service would be great then. Going to do that next time.

Student stylist had sufficient skill and experience to cut my difficult to handle hair almost exactly as I specified. Somewhat messy job though which left quite a bit to clean up after both the cutting and washing. Washing could have been more through as well. Overall, this is good value and the results are better than what I have previously experienced despite the shortcomings.

I got a graduate to cut my hair and it turned out to be very different from what I wanted. My hair is ruined and it'll take months to fix it. Firstly, she could barely speak English. I cannot speak Chinese well so I had trouble getting her to understand me and vice versa. Prior to my haircut, I curated a number of pictures to show her the hairstyle I wanted. I showed her the pictures but she ended up just giving me an undercut without any regard for the style I actually wanted. I didn't want just an undercut, I wanted to get a very specific hairstyle. If I just wanted an undercut I could get it for 6 bucks. Later, she wanted to wash my hair. I asked her, aren't you going to trim the top? She mumbled something about washing. I asked her "wait so, wash then trim or trim then wash?" She just started to trim it without even asking me how I wanted it trimmed. Until now I have no idea what she was trying to say. And if there is a communication problem due to language, she should ensure that she understands me before working on my hair. In the end, I cannot possibly style my hair the way I wanted. It looks terrible, unbalanced and really weird. My hair is a disaster. I wasted 2-3 months trying to grow it out for the look I was going for. I should be getting a refund. Unfortunately, and surprisingly, I was supposed to pay before I get my hair cut instead of after. I've never had to do this before. So, what can I do but write a review? Do not go here. The service is poor. Mind you, this wasn't a student, it was a graduate who cut my hair. If it was a student I can understand the service being so poor. But a graduate? This was just shocking. I had been planning this cut for months and grew out my hair specifically for this. I thought that going to Kimage would have given me a higher chance of getting what I wanted. I thought I might at least get some hair advice as mentioned in some of the comments so I could get the style I wanted, as this is a proper hairdressing school and not your neighbourhood salon. In the end, going to my neighbourhood salon (J & Jas at Hougang, it's really good) would have been better and cheaper. I should never have tried Kimage. It was a big mistake. Go to J & Jas instead, $13 for a cut and shampoo and they know what they're doing and have never given me a bad cut even with the language barrier (because they actually look at the picture and try to follow it unlike this graduate stylist!)

The students are polite and careful. Today Aug 16th Monday, my student did an excellent colouring of my hair. She was extremely careful, neat and pasted enough colour on each sections of my hair. She also has good estimation on the colour needed for my hair. There was no second round of mixing of colour needed. An excellent job. The student who washed my hair did a nice gentle massage on my head, good relaxation of the mind. Good job! Blowing my hair was good.

I had made a booking 6 days prior to my appointment date, and received a confirmation email AND a whatsapp asking me to confirm my appointment. After travelling all the way to Marina Square, when I showed up to the salon they could not find my booking and said that they were fully booked. I was then asked to sit down to let a stylist take a look at my hair, which was pink (I wanted to dye it dark brown) and she said it was not possible, insisting that it cannot be done and that I shouldn’t waste my money because they could only dye it pitch black. What I personally think happened was that they lost my booking, which was a mistake on their end and proceeded to give me an excuse as to why they could not do my hair. I had previously read many good reviews on this place but I am super disappointed.

I am very satisfied with my hair colouring and hair cut. My visit today is during COVID-19 heightened alert. The school should have been more lenient towards me eating as I brought boos to eat there. I have visited 2 weeks ago and left feeling that it was a pleasant experience, so I was hoping to do treatments more frequently from then on. However, today I had received downright lousy service from the black faced aunty at the counter - very impatient and unfriendly when I was trying to make an appointment. She could have offered alternative timings instead of waiting for me to ask multiple times, and it wouldn’t kill her to smile once in a while! Really rude and ridiculous, just makes her and the establishment look ugly and cheap. Waste of the successful effort to revamp the space and customer experience if there exists such a horrible staff member. There is a gentleman at the counter (during my previous visit) who was much friendlier and super professional.

Love returning to kimage for haircut by student. This time decided to try out haircut by graduate. The hairdresser was confident in cutting my hair. She even put in effort trying to style my hair with a brush and flat iron. However, there was some disappointment in the hairwash and the end result. Not sure if it is due to Covid, there was no proper scalp message during hair washing. And at the end of the styling, a section of my hair was curling out on my right side even after using the flat iron. There was a teacher around, she explained that it was due to my hair parting, more hair on the right, the more curling will happen. I'm half convinced as she made the comment without checking through my hair. Overall, I prefer student cut as the teacher will guide the student and check the end result.

This is my second time going to this salon as it is very affordable. My first visit was great! Even my friend told me that my new hair cut looked expensive. But today I showed a photo in order for the student to follow but she was not able to follow it, so the teacher to the rescue but apparently the teacher didn't manage to follow neither what is in the photo. Sad thing as I am going to attend a wedding this Sunday Dec. 6 Lastly, in the middle of my haircut session another student in front of me turned on the blower and use it to clean her area and my left eye got caught by a hair. I was trying to clear my left eye and trying my best to remove the hair, because it was burning and teary. My student stylist was prompt to give me a tissue so that I can touch my left eye. The student in front of me just didn't say or sorry oh what not even the teacher was there but she was just looking the scene. Like seriously how hard it is to say "sorry". You are a school proper etiquette should be considered as well. Customer service is very bad here!

I went for a shampoo and cut, as well as a scalp treatment, which cost $16 in total - the whole experience was relaxing and professional, with really comfy horizontal couches for the hair wash. Supervisor was aware of the students' progress and came by periodically as well as finishing off the haircut. I also got my hair blow dried sleekly, which I had not thought was included!

Visited on 23 Aug with my son with booking for haircut by graduates at 10am. I was disappointed with the plump and long-hair lady who cut my hair. Showed her a picture of a simple short hairstyle I liked and she gave so much of "can't be done" comment. In the end, she merely trimmed my length (back hair) and everything still remain the same (hair still seem messy and a lot as if no haircut is done at all!). I really wonder how she graduated?! She is probably a 'blow hair and shampoo' graduate. Wayne Yong who cut my son's hair has done a good job. He listened attentively to your request and may change a bit to make the hairstyle looks better. It really depends on your luck on which graduate you end up with. Bet my son has better luck than me.

I just left this training centre after a very satisfying hair perm that i had requested .A few weeks ago when i went to one training school for the same perm ( embrodery perm ) the person at the counter told me that the student cannot do this type of perming. So i ask for root perm and she again explain my hair is too short. As for many years, i have been to Kimage Training Centre for all my hair perm and they did it according to my style and did it well The principle and teacher are so expert. When i went there today, i exactly ask for embrodery perm, although they dont practise this perm anymore, the male teacher obliged me and ask two students to perm for me. And they did it well. I should said, is the teacher who deserved the credit. He didnt pushes me away like other centre instead he done it and the student also get to learn something new. Kimage is always my best salon for my hair petm with student price.. Always feel good and confident with their student especially under the guidance of their teachets who is always there.. Well Done Kimage!

I have been getting my haircut by students here since before the nation wide circuit breaker ... and I continue to return while in phase 2. For me, the standard of quality has been consistent and professional while under the supervision of their trainers. In addition, the location is central and adds value to their services. For the fussy- the students may not be ideal for you. But for a fuss-free haircut, it works well for me!

I was quite wary to go to a hairstyling school to get my hair done, but the price of 31 for treatment and cut with V15 Vaniday discount (making it $16) was too good to resist. At first I requested not to cut just treatment but they said the purpose of hair models was for the students to learn how to cut--- which made sense cos they probably don't need skill to put treatment products. Just need to put the right things and hair cut is what needs training. So i let the student Jian Yao (female, quite a senior student and very professional) cut my split ends away. I have no problems with her cut and the treatment process was pleasant. The studio was spacious and clean. Booking was super easy on Vaniday. Encourage those - - esp men--- if you're not fussy about hair cuts do try their wash and cut for $6 at Marina Square, so cheap only. For men it really makes no difference LOL for women I have no problems with my trim too. Cannot choose student but I was lucky to get a good hair stylist apprentice.

I purchased the graduate haircut service and paid $15. But the 'graduate' could only trim the hair length and she did not thin my hair which I requested at least half a dozen times to her. She kept giving excuses that she needed to go elsewhere, washroom etc. No point paying higher when a student or anyone could trim hair length. Downright lousy!

I have engaged their services twice so far. The first time with a student and second with a graduate. I must say you can get your hair done by a student with ease as there's always an instructor directing and overlooking them. The second time, i got a colour job done by a graduate. I went in clueless and May, suggested a style completely out of my comfort zone. I ended up loving it! Sadly, the colour didn't seem to stick on for more than a week due to the pigmentation of my hair. When i reached the outlet, they were more than happy to have me come in to help fix it. The stylist (probably a supervisor or manager), really studied my hair, explained each procedure and even tested new colours to see which would work. They didn't rush through the process and even stayed on alil longer than closing time. So if you are ever worried you might get your hair messed up, rest assured that they take your comfort and satisfaction with high importance. Thank you so much to the team who helped. Will definitely be seeing you again in a couple of months!

I visited Kimage Hairdressing Salon on 20 Aug 2019 and I'm really very satisfied with the service as well as the skills of the student hairstylist! I didn't manage to get her name but she was wearing blue. She was really patient and didn't rush into doing my hair despite me being late for the appointment (really appreciate this especially since I had really long hair prior to cutting it) and it was kinda eating into her lunch time (I'm terribly sorry for this ????). I wanted to trim my hair slightly initially but she and her mentor suggested that I should cut it shorter to get rid of the dry ends. I took their suggestion and my hair do look healthier now! ☺️ I also wanted to cut my fringe to get bangs and the length was surprisingly satisfactory. I'm saying this because I used to have bad experience with cutting fringes as hairstylist have the tendency to cut it too short. The hairstylist and her mentor also told me since I haven't really cut fringe for a while there will be a gap and they explained that I have to actively comb it down after showering for the gap to close. The mentor was really nice too as she came in to help brush up a few touches on my hair. Also, I believe that this particular student hairstylist will definitely be a good hairstylist in future since she genuinely cares about her customer's need and is pretty skillful too. It's the first time I visited a hair salon feeling so satisfied and I will definitely come back again! :)

Don’t ever go to junior hair stylist to color your hair. They don’t do balayage well, screw up the Color and overall bad service. The auntie don’t listen properly to customer request and do what she want.

Previous experience wasn't good though appointment booked but still need to wait for at least 30 mins. This time went and the experience was much better. Graduate lady hairstylist attended to me 5 mins later after I sat down. The hairstylist was quick in cutting my hair. Was done in less than 1.5 hrs. Very experienced and confident lady. Overall is satisfied with the service. Hope the waiting time won't be long in my next visit.

Wasn’t expecting much given the price point for student hairdressers but was pleasantly surprised. Joanne was extremely meticulous (and friendly!) and did a great job with my haircut and hair treatment. Outcome was far better than my 2 previous haircuts by “qualified” hairdressers. It did take a longer time than usual but overall, nothing to complain about all else considered.
